Nuclear App Description & Overview

What is nuclear app? *** Brought to you by the team behind the internationally acclaimed educational star gazing app - Star Chart ***

Dare you enter the quantum world of Nuclear? Where things are not just stranger than you might imagine, but stranger than you can imagine! Witness the interplay of energies and physics at the tiniest of scales as you learn to play, discover and explore the chemical elements at the atomic level.

Nuclear is a high tech educational application that dynamically models an interactive atom in a beautiful and intuitive way. In Nuclear, you get to build all the elements of the periodic table via a simple mechanic of adding and subtracting the atomic building blocks of neutrons, protons and electrons. The goal of the app is to let you learn about each of the elements of the periodic table by constructing a stable version of that element. Once a stable element has been created, it is unlocked in the periodic table. Can you create and unlock them all?

This app has been designed for all types of users: from children interested in learning through play about what matter is made of and how it works, to teachers looking for an intuitive and exciting way to help educate others on chemical elements.

Nuclear lets you:
* Learn about the atom through this stunning 3D visualisation.
* Explore the effects of manipulating matter at the atomic level.
* Add or subtract protons, electrons or neutrons to create virtually any base chemical element.
* Create and watch as unstable isotopes decay into more stable elements.
* Through tactile exploration grasp an understanding of what we and everything around us is made of.

- Please note the initial app allows you to create and unlock the first 54 elements for free. The remaining elements can be unlocked via a small in-app purchase.

Nuclear is continually being developed, so please feel free to let us know your thoughts and feedback. We will endeavour to expand and improve Nuclear, incorporating customer feedback wherever possible. Contact us at: Nuclear@EscapistGames.com

Great game, Devs please read!. This is a great game yet, when I discover a new element sometimes it wont get off my screen then I have to leave the game and restart making my elements.(I don’t mean like having to discover them again, I mean like while I’m making them it goes away.) But very fun and satisfying, so overall this is a 5 $t@r game!

Thank You. Thank you for updating your app and making it compatible with the latest version of iOS, and thank you for fixing the bugs.

Doesn’t seem to have a basic understanding of quantum mechanics.. Well, if you want to see the old orbital model of the atom, this works I guess, but there is no notion of the wave function or it’s shape or behavior. Disappointed and deleted....

Nuclear reactions a little wonky. Though the app is pretty interesting I do have a complaint about the decay modes. I understand it would require a lot of work for the decays to be correct but when a nucleus is neutron rich it does not decay by expelling a neutron, but instead does a beta decay. I think that this detracts from the educational quality. With that aside still a great app. Nice price for the elements below technetium.

A bug?. So when reading the description, it doesn’t let me scroll down to read the full information, And when trying to exit the info using “Ok”. It doesn’t work? I hope to see a fix, yet I don’t even know if you support the game anymore since it’s been years since the last update?

What's the point if the science is bad?. I like the app, it's pretty and it's more realistic than kids' alternatives like Toca Labs. But now that I've realized the decays are not scientifically accurate (I never saw an alpha decay), I'm no longer interested. I'm a college physics professor and would have used this in my classroom - but not if the decays are wrong. And I don't understand the reviewers apologizing that reality would be "too difficult to implement" - do it right or go home.

Does not show correct number of electron in orbital Shell. App is still having issues with displaying the correct number of electrons in its orbital shell. For instance the element He has an atomic mass of 4, 2 neutrons and 2 protons. With an atomic number of 2, meaning there are 2 electrons orbiting in shell 1. The app is displaying an electron in shell 1, and a electron in shell 2. When it should show 2 electrons in shell 1. The 1st shell of any element has a max capacity of 2 electrons. You cannot add any electrons to the next orbital shell of an element until you max max out the previous orbital shell with its maximum number of electrons it can hold. This could be a disaster for a person who is a beginner in chemistry. The app is useless if it is not displaying the correct number of electrons in their corresponding orbital shell. Please fix this asap or I will request a refund.

Brilliant. You get to on a journey to a universe of the very small: The very building blocks of all matter and creation. Wonderful. Stirs the imagination.

Nuclear. IT'S AWESOME it helps children learn about chemistry and about how to make atoms. It is very fun and experienced into the science of chemistry and plus there is molecules that you can make out of looking at the atoms and seeing what you can make out of them. It is very fun!

Very nice app! Good for teaching!. I liked this app and his educational pourpose for visualisation of the interaction of protons, neutrons and electrons. I would like to suggest to include explanation of the decay process and how / why the atom is instable and what need to be done to stabilize it naturally and artificially. But the app is amazing!

Magnificent, in every sense of the word!. Anyone looking into this application should note that there is no other app like it. There is Atom in a Box, but it charges two dollars for not even half of the functionality that this application has. But even if there were apps of the same type, Nuclear is of the highest caliber, giving a detailed, interactive look at atomic structure. Truly one of the best apps ever created!

Visually inspiring. Great app for all. Building your atom becomes incredibly fun and addicting as you work your way up the periodic table. But watch out, the higher you get, the more unstable the elements become therefore making them difficult to achieve. The app is really fun and I have learned a lot from it.

Excellent tool for teaching. I was able to teach my 6-year old niece and my 8-year-old nephew the basics of atomic theory with this app! They floored their teachers, and their parents are amazed.

Perfect if.... You have chemistry class or a carrier. Say u need to learn all the element this is the way to do it. I think it's worth the price. I use it all the time and I'm just in high school, I bet this will even be more helpful at collage. GREAT JOB for everyone that helped make this app!

Really cool just, one thing…. Really cool! I love this app and it’s very fun. But there’s one problem, and ONLY ONE. To get out of the screen which shows you the element you discovered, you can’t just click ok. You have to exit that window from your iPad, and that’s really annoying. Please fix this! Otherwise, I suggest you click everything and discover element. Very fun 🤩 get it now!!!

Nuclear. I love this app. I've used it to explain the periodic table to my grandkids and they really enjoyed it

Great start. Great visuals but the decays are just wrong. Getting a decay probability or fission yield probability for each isotope and applying it would be the next step. When an isotope naturally decays or fissions to a different atom the program should simulate that. All the information is out there if the devs want it, a good nuclear physicist consultant on the payroll could turn this into an app from a sweet visual to a serious demo tool used in every physics class worldwide.

It lied. It said I could continue through Xenon; It Really won't let you past Ruthenium. Other than that, great graphics and design besides charging so much to go passed Ruthenium.

I see a glich. So when I was playing I was trying to get silver then I pressed the top right corner then I got it for free can you please fix this glich

It’s just that I can’t press. I like the app I like that is for learning but I can’t remove the information from the screen I just can’t can you fix touch

Good, but could use a few fixes.. To start, most of the elements are listed in the wrong categories (sodium is listed as a noble gas and iron is listed as an actinide for example). Additionally, more decay modes should be added such as alpha decay and the two forms of beta decay.

Love this app. I love this app however it would be nice if there was some more info as to why elements became unstable other than that I am very happy that at least someone is interested in sharing their understanding of physics with the world,, great job.

Great for messing around with when you're bored!. I just randomly downloaded this one day and tried it out, and even though I wasn't trying to learn anything with this app (I never did), I found this app is a fun thing to mess around with when I'm bored! For what it does, at least to me, It gets a ten out of ten! Or in App Store terms, 5 stars

Not worth the upgrade. I paid $4.99 to upgrade this app and it’s not worth it. It’s not very kid friendly and the coolest part of the app was being able to create the different type of elements. It only shows 2. You can find something better.

App made my account locked👿. I Don't know why or for what reason, but after I downloaded this app, I got notifications saying this app was repeatedly taking money from my card and had to deal with the bank and crap, so don't download this wasteful app

Cargill would be proud!. Cool app, a little basic and tedious to keep adding protons, neutrons & electrons in order to "create" and view info on each element. Then I got to fluorine and it said under uses: "fluorides are used to prevent tooth decay." Ha! I was completely disgusted. Here was a scientific app perpetuating the myth of fluoridated water. Fluoride is toxic, accumulative in the body and causes fluorosis of the teeth and bones. It is also derived from the hazardous waste of the phosphate fertilizer industry--Cargill being the largest. Yummy! Drink up sheep!

I love it but I found a bug.. The only thing that I don’t like is that there is a bug in the app. Other than that, it’s so cool! I found the bug when I clicked OK when something from the app came up. I tried pressing OK a bunch of times but it wouldn’t go away. But I do like the app.

Good. This is fun and informative, but could be better. One thing I would really like to see are the different forms of decay. For example, H-3 (Tritium) decays into He-3, not H-2. This would be really impressive with the heavier isotopes and their decay chains. Isotopes such as Cu-64, which decay by more than 1 mode, can really bring science to the plate by randomly choosing which decay mode to implement. If these features were added, this app could easily be worth the $.99 add-ins.

Enjoyable… But…. But… I am looking for a simulator of those beautiful bubble chamber photographs with the spirals winding down from colliding elements and such… An enterprising programmer could make a dollar or more apiece for such a program!

New update quirky on iPhone X. Had to keep switching between landscape and portrait to access all of the buttons. Otherwise a fun educational app that keeps us busy waiting for tables or food etc.

Great app. This is an amazing app, I showed it to my teacher and she said that she'd give me extra credit if I could finish the whole game (I already purchased the build your own table expansion) I think it's a great use of technology and it's really helped me learn

Intuiitive exploration. I think the app could do with some more explanation/guidance regarding why certain isotopes are stable while others are not, and what governs the shell that electrons preferably "localize" to (quantum superpositioning aside). These are points of curiosity I would have liked to explore further. However, the interface is simple and the visuals are beautiful. Overall a great, intuitive way to explore the structure of the elements. Well done!

Very cool. Excellent graphics, great learning aid, and the explosions are fun! Why put nonsense games on your phone for your kids, when you can put this app & Star Chart on it & add some inadvertent education when they get their screen time? With modern tech offering so many options to consume your time (and money) with nothing to show for it but the passage of time, it's really satisfying when your elementary-age kid comes up to you & asks for your phone to play Nuclear or Star Chart, especially when other electronic gaming options are around for them. (on Mom's phone, even) Future enhancements to think about: • have the decay "explosions" reflect some relative, approximate amount of binding energy released. (Currently all decays look pretty much the same.) • I don't know how this works, but presently you can add electrons to an isotope until the cows come home (or until it decays.) • I think it would be interesting to see some indication of effort needed to add each additional partial. (Ideally, the user would have to >exert< a relative amount of energy appropriate & proportionate to the addition, but I have no idea how this could be implemented.). For an indication of energy consumed to add a particulate, I'd suggest some spectrum/thermometer bar indicator deftly harmonized into the display.

Visually nice, but annoying. Can't get past Ruthenium because of the annoying popups, despite the suggestion that you can get to Xenon. I understand trying to motivate users to upgrade, but don't tick me off in the process.

Cool app! Decays could be better though.. I have the full version and some elements are tricky to get. It would be nice to be able to turn the decay on/off. Also, it would be even more than 5 stars if the decay chains were more accurate (i.e. alpha and beta). That would be tough to implement though. Overall, great teaching app!

Wont work with next version of iOS. Needs update to work with next version of iOS. Not buying it. Free version allows 44 not 54 elements. We can't build element 45 without being asked to upgrade. Otherwise a lot of fun and educational to a degree.

Great use of Tech!. This app is super cool! I love the high definition graphics and interactive nature! This is a great app to use in my classroom to teach my students about the periodic table. Students add protons, neutrons, and electrons to make the different elements on the periodic table. As they create these elements the app instructs them about how elements are created and demonstrates what happens if elements become unbalanced. As the participant creates the element it is placed on the periodic table. Participants unlock each element as they build it! The free version only allows you to create the first 56 elements, but it would be a great buy for anyone using this app for science instruction/learning. After the element is created it also gives you characteristics and info about the element. Great science find!!

One of the best science apps. This is not the usual cheesy and buggy science app that claim to be educational. This app is very helpful to understand atoms and it’s very spectacular.

Is this happening to anyone else?. The game becomes near impossible when you reach the unstable elements and you have to either try way too hard to quickly move protons and neutrons to keep it from decaying or fill the table for $2.99. I'm still going to buy it cause it's a great app, but it's annoying they know exactly how to make me

SLOW DOWN!!!!. I give props to one of a kind but wow graphics are fast!!! Too fast! Needs a speed control or timing adjuster :l other than that, its totally Picasso beautiful.

Great but.... I love this app, but when I try to discover more elements after Ruthenium, it says I need to upgrade to explore more. I still have the rest of the slots left as well. I haven't yet discovered the first 54, only all up to Ruthenium.

Good app. I think that you should have the ability to turn of the atom decay. Please consider this and implement this thank you.

Very different AND Cool !!!!. A great different way to show and learn the periodic table of elements. Not 5 stars, this one should go to 11.

Good but... I love this app but everytime I find a new element it won’t let me get back to the “Atom” page and i have to restart the game to get back to it, is there anyway you guys can fix this? Thank you.

Incredible to learn. This is a great idea and I would ask you guys not to stop. As an idea for you, it would be very interesting if could be possible to match elements, create formulas and see if it's stable. Including tests with zero mass and negative mass.

Buggy. I played the game up to lead and after that All of the elements that I have unlocked have been unstable and I can't seem to fix it

Very cool.. I had a program like this back in the 1980's. This one's a lot cooler. My only problem is that you can't actually build past the 44th element because it won't let you add more than 54 neutrons without the upgrade.

Simply Amazing!. This app is pure magic that transports you into the subatomic world of magic! You can manipulate/ pair numbers of subatomic particles with each other to form the various elements and to make stable/non stable isotopes and see them decay right before your eyes! 5 stars.

Great app!. 5 stars all day. Great study tool for my chemistry class and over all enjoyable.

Improbable Awesome Probabilities. Great use of mobile tech. All I need now is the ability to mix molecules together based on valence shells! Help us discover new elements! Great job guys.

Fantastic. I love it, I just paid for everything

Almost great. Love the potential of this app, however when I went to use it with my students they noticed that isotopes which decay do not decay in realistic ways. How embarrassing when we'd just finished covering beta decay to find that this app thinks carbon-14 decays to become carbon-13 instead of nitrogen-14! If my year 9s can figure that out I really hope this app will soon too, as they loved it until that point.

Mistakes. There’s a few mistakes, like Lithium is classed as a noble gas and Helium is classed as a halogen. Great app but please make it accurate. Thanks in advance.

Great tool. Very good tool to look at structure of atom. I would like to see isotope decay rate included. Also I would like to see the correct field envelop around nucleus.

nuculaer. the app I've been looking for for ages

Cool. Awesome, educational and fun!

Great app. This is the best app in the universe!!!!!!

Great work. First of all I would like to thank the app's creator for such a great job. But there is one or two bugs that need to be worked out. As I saw in a another review I also agree that alpha and beta particle decay should be added to make it a more realistic experience I am only 13 but I love this app and I am hope for more great updates and apps from you guys:-)

It's good. I find this really good and a great way to learn the periodic table however once you get to the more man made end of the table it gets harder and harder to progress through the chart because of instability and decaying

Awesome Game!. Really great job have been looking for something like this everywhere!

Please update. Awesome app. Can you please update this for iOS 11.

Simple & fun to use but.... For showing how atoms are built up this app is simple and fun to use. However, when it comes to nuclear decay when an isotope is unstable this app is erroneous in every respect. I have not found a single radioisotope that follows its correct decay method, nor does the app show the correct daughter isotope. If the developers were to fix this aspect of their app I'd rate with the maximum five stars. But in its current form, and as a teacher who would like to use it in his science and physics classes, I can only give it one star.

good. I loved this app but as a studying app or trying to learn the periodic table it lacks a little. Personally I can't remember any of the elements or their electrons and the like. So its fun for a while but could be a little more engaging and as a studying app it is not too effective yet I still find it enjoyable

Fun and educational. The title says everything really. Top shelf.

Good - but.... I like the app but find it frustrating that elements without stable isotopes decay before the are registered as "discovered"

Fantastic graphics and heaps fun !. I just wish I had had this in high school I would have done so much better :) great job!!! Totally worth $0.99

Nice app. Love it

An interesting idea. The system of acquisition is somewhat tedious after a while but do not let that spoil what is a very interesting way to learn about the periodic table and in a more advanced sense, a visible representation of each element atomic structure.

Pretty good. It's really fun but I don't like in app purchases and I want to create mercury without it decaying. Overall it's a pretty good app.

Grate. Spectacular game very educational and I love it play it a lot 😊😊

Good. great graphics! But there isn't a distinction in the half lives of different radioisotopes.

Not purchasing. The app is outdated. Not working recently. It happens since a cup of month. No update any thing😩

Please add language options within the app.. This app is fantastic and I would recommend to anyone who is interested in or wanting to learn more about Chemistry. I only think that the addition of and option to change the language within the actual app itself would be really great.

Comment. I'd like to be able to bond atoms to make molecules and have reaction energies. This is a good start

Awesome. The best game ever this helped me so much in science!

App is good but!!. Good app but I can't seem to create astatine ??? There are also many other atoms I can't seem to create.

Review. A cool and fascinating, if tricky, look at the atomic structure of the elements. Also an intriguing look at half-life and radioactive decay.

Good app. I like it! Hope they fix the problem of people not being to create certain elements, because I think this app deserves 5 stars.

Things to consider for update. I wish there was an explanation of what type of decay is happening and equations along with it ...that would make this app's value a lot higher

Elements. I agree I hope they fix the glitch where you can't make certain elements.

gang. wesh gee kesspass dans l’hood j’viens du 64

AMazing!. Need more apps like this! Great job! I am happy to support this app with the the small iap. Just upgraded. Thank you for the work you put in.

Yay. I’m only grad 1 but still really fun for me it’s the only game my parents let me play

Half life. The radioactive decay, are they in real time?

Atomic. Vert good app

Sweet. Totally enjoyed this! I created all the elements, so other reviews maybe were addressing a glitch that's been fixed in an update? In any case, really well done.

Strong Science application. I use this program during the writing of a feature movie that involves knowledge in Physics. This is to say how much this app is well done, well organized and well illustrated. It allows the user to learn and to better understand how atoms are built up in the universe, including a better understanding of Nuclear Physics. Thank you to the developers. Alain Houle, Ph.D.

Scientific Brains Wanted. Cool game, plus helps understand what is going on with the periodic chart. I could of used this in 7th grade science 27 years ago

Great app. Easy to use and found it fun

Very good but.... I don't know how to view the electrons

Awesome. Best atom I've ever seen. 5 trillion stars!

Great! But.... In my opinion, the description of each elements could be expanded to include things such as... Density Common ions Applications Hardness Modulus ratings Natural isotopes and percentage composition Other basic info like that...

Good, so much potential though.... Right now, it's just pretty with the addition of adding subtracting subatomic particles. More depth on elements, making compounds, etc.

Steph. Is ok,,,,,,,,,, It so pretty! A person who knows chemistry is smart and probably very good looking. I should study chemistry

Nothing but awesome. This app was made for my son!!!

Nuclear Application. This application was very helpful and easy to use!

Ok - but crude. Should show correct electron orbitals - not just electrons flying around. Decay processes are not very realistic.

Cool App. Helps you get a better understanding of periodic table elements!

Please update for future versions of iOS. The app is great, but needs to be updated in order to function for future iOS versions.

cool idea, very buggy.. locks up. lots of bugs ios12. don’t spend the $ until it gets fixed....

Not compatible with iOS 11. Update please. Educators waiting.

Nuclear Must Be FREEEEEEEEE. This app is totes worthwhile, but it should be free. You can only find the first 54 elements free, not the rest.

Excellent. Gives a real understanding of elements with easy to use atom and Bohr views. Great for students.

It is not free. After ten minutes of playing it says you can not continue unless you pay three dollars. Complete waist of time and space.

This is best. This is what games should be! games like doodle devil are completely worthless.

Please update!. Used to love this app for classroom, use but it’s not supported by iOS 11 please update!

Fun with nuclear fusion. Our son has fun creating elements and learning about them.

Cool but. Every time I discover a element I can’t close it out. I tap ok nothing happens.

Greatest educational app on nuclear radiation. I love it, it’s great beyond words

In app purchases can’t be shared by family members.. Poor business practices will result in poor sales

Cool way to learn. Cool way to learn for us visual learners.

Needs an update!. To work with the latest version of iOS. FIX!

Awesome!. Absolutely brilliant!! If you enjoy science at all, this is a must have app. Very addictive and visually mind blowing!

Awesome. Love it!!! Use it on the job daily.

awesome but... when i try to upgrade it to full periodic version, it is just not responding. my credit card is normal. i checked itmany times. plz fix the upgrade issue.

Bugs. I can't seem to get passed rhodium, I try adding neutrons but I keep getting the do you want to buy the full version. But it goes to xenon.

Nuclear. This app is great for any life form interested in matter, energy and the Mystery!

Great. Great tool for school.

Cool app. Be warned: getting the super heavy elements is harder than it looks

My five years old daughter loves it.. A very cool educational tool.

Restoring purchases. It won't let me. Pls fix

Awesome!!. A great way to learn the periodic table. Allows you to visualize different elements' atomic makeup.

Awesome!. This app is very useful.

Needs update!!!!!. This was a great app but now that I go back to download it again the App Store won’t let me download it. It says that the app needs to be updated for iOS 11. Please update it so I can go back to using this app!

Stupid. It's alright if you like atoms, but if you don't, don't get it!!!!

Good. Good, but decays in the wrong way.

Okay.. After I get a element I have to swipe out the app.

Good for everything. Pretty good app for studying

Awesome. Great game, memorized the periodic table in a couple of days thanks!!

A little hard. I LOVE IT!!! But it gets REALLY HARD!!

Nuclear. Very cool graphics and design

Awesome!!!. This app is the perfect balance of fun, addiction, and education. Simply perfect.

Doesn’t work.. Was a great teaching tool until iOS 11 came out and the app won’t even load at all.

Mental Decay. Much greater fun than chemistry. Gotta go, need another neutron.

This app thought. This is one of my fav apps

Great!. Awesome learning tool! However, unstable isotopes shed unstable neutrons so fast that it is impossible to study them. Overall, great app!

Keeps asking to review. This app keeps asking me to rate it. It's a solid app well worth the 99 cents to upgrade. I am rating the app one star since it keeps asking me to even though I clicked no multiple times. Cheers!
