I love this app!!!!. Seriously one of my favorite apps. I’ve had it for years now and I have enjoyed it so much. It’s helped me learn the positions of the planets so I can recognize them in the sky on my own and just last week my boyfriend and I were in Joshua Tree and looking at the night sky, and we saw this star that had a BEAM OF LIGHT coming from it like a distant spotlight. We were sooo amazed and wanted to know what it was immediately so I grabbed my phone and we learned that it was Tania Borealis so I looked it up and it’s a star that is THREE TIMES BIGGER THAN OUR OWN SUN. Incredible. Try to find it for yourself at night if you’re somewhere where you can actually see the stars.

Would be 5 stars but. The add-ons are so expensive! They'd make more money if they were $5 or even 99¢. Come on...we explorers, we scientists are poor folk living in an economy not suited for frivolous expenditures. Let's share our knowledge without cost. Who knows, had the in app purchases been less expensive, a poor person like myself could have afforded the cost of the feature that would have aided them in the discovery of the 9th planet in our solar system...or possibly our next home planet in a far off Galaxy. I guess mankind is doomed. Otherwise - amazing app!

You'll feel like a child again. Not everyone can afford a telescope or visit the planetarium. Every night I get to wish on a star and know it's name. I learn the constellations just by having fun looking around the Galaxy. It truly is amazing. Now try to convince me their is no God. This app will show you the shooting stars, constellations, meteors, comets, satellites, and each planet up close and stunningly vivid. With descriptions of each planet, the coordinates for your telescope, all their moons, what constellation they inhabit, their orbital period (it takes Saturn 29 yrs 166 days for our 1 year to go around the sun) and their rotation period (Saturn takes 10 hrs 19 mins to our 24 hrs). Your going to feel like a kid and love learning all about astronomy while your at it. Besides, learning should be fun, right?!

Good app but too many upgrades that require payment. I love the help finding consolations and the fact that it has an astronomical calendar saying when meteor showers are is amazing! Just saying I could pay $5-10 for the app not to have to deal with the upgrades such as where to look for meteor showers and comets which are 2 separate upgrades one if not both cost $4.99. Still overall love the app and I haven’t had any major bugs so that’s nice and remarkably no ads so I really do understand the creators trying to make some money through upgrades but wish they would do it in the overall purchase.🤩☄️💫✨🌌

Absolutely Great!!!!!. This is one of those app's that you know you got your money's worth and a lot more!! It gives you so much information about the heavens above, I really like being able to identify the constellations and the planets and being able to read the information about them, really great stuff. Another nice thing is that you can have it let you know of up and coming celestial events such as meteor shower, it'll let you know the where and when of the event. It'll tell you about planet conjunctions and so much more!!!!!!! If your looking for an app about the sky's this is the one you want, I've showed this app to friends and family and once I have it's not very long or it's right then that they're downloading it to their devices. Get it so you can show off your knowledge of the night sky's. It even shows you what's in the sky on the other side of the Earth!!!!!

Annoying to use. This app has beautiful displays of constellations and stars. The night mode is a nice feature to keep your night vision, with that, the displays go to red on black. For identifying what stars you see in the night sky, I found this app to be difficult to use. First, it could not use my iPad's GPS to identify my exact location, so I had to set that manually, and the closest I could set it was about 50 miles away. You can only set it on population centers, which of course, are not good for star gazing because of the ground light. Second, you point it at a section of sky, and it shows you the stars and constellations in that section of sky, but of course, you have now blocked your view of the sky in that location, so you have to do this up and down movement trying to match what you see on the iPad to what you see in the sky. It does not use your device's camera to actually view stars as Sky View Free does. Finally, the most annoying feature of this app is it is constantly offering you further information and when you click on that offer it says, "You have to upgrade for that information, that will be $9.95". Sky View Free is a better free app for occasional star gazing.

This app is so crazy!!. It does such cool stuff. Love holding it up to the sky and reading off the constellations and planets and stars. My favorite might be the way you can select a planet or star, tap it twice and you get a little platform thin in the lower right. Tap it and the planet or star comes hurtling at you until it’s close up. You can see the geysers of fire on the sun, the dark spots on the moon. I so love this app. Lastly it lets me know what this day in astronomical history it is! So cool!!

Deceptive practices. I use this app on a weekly basis and have for a few years. It has been a great tool to teach myself, my family and neighborhood kids. Tonight, I felt as if I was taken to the bank. I was trying to locate the comet NEOWISE. I see the upgraded option for locating comets at $2.99 and thought it would be a great help. Unless I failed to read the fine print, if there was any, I assumed it would be able to locate the visible comet that has been in the news for the last few weeks. Went to search option and discovered it only locates comets that have been pre-selected, NEOWISE was not one of them. Huge disappointment from an app that I have really enjoyed using for a very long time.

Star Chart. Star Chart is a great application to have for those interested in astronomy and the mysteries of the universe whether in its free or premium form. While the premium version gives users access to just about every observable part of our universe including planets, constellations and our extended solar system the free version is still worthwhile. Users can use the free version to observe the constellations in our sky and the imagery and visuals presented are top notch high quality. Users can also view and read data regarding the planets in our solar system, the moon and more. Navigation within the app is easy and users can move, tap and pull the device and screen being used to look around the sky, solar system of whatever is being looked at or focused upon. While serious astronomy lovers will want the fully loaded version for those with more of a casual interest in the heavenly bodies above us the free version will do.

Accidental Satisfaction. I stumbled upon this app completely on accident. I was Googling star charts to see if there were any I could print out and hang on my walls, but the search engine brought me to this delightful, helpful tool instead. I'm very pleased with all the available information, and even more satisfied with the mere simplicity of the app. I've already recommended Star Charts to a few of my colleagues, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone else.

The BEST one out there!. I first downloaded the free version and came to realize I needed the paid version. I had tried other free star apps before, but this is definitely the best one out there! My only problem is it gets "stuck" and for the life of me I cannot figure out how to recalibrate it. So I have to close the program and reopen it. Also be aware this app will EAT YOUR BATTERY so make sure you have a back up (or three) if you plan on using it for more than 30 minutes (but I am also using an old iPhone 4S). Love this app.

Really cool but a couple problems. This app is really cool! I just got it last night to make sure the planet I saw in the sky was Venus. After clicking around on the app I purchased 2 add ons. One was the satellite add on and the other was the comet add on. Despite having proper internet, the satellite add on keeps saying “incomplete download detected” no matter how much I try to restore it. The comet add on(which I bought at the same time) got added successfully in no time at all. I wish the satellite add on would download or I could get a refund on it, it was quite expensive really but that’s the only issue I’m having. Overall it’s a good and educational app.

Buggy. This used to be one of my favorite apps-- I've memorized just about every (visible) star in the summer sky thanks to it. When I first downloaded it a little over two years ago, looking at the stars quickly became one of my favorite pastimes. The Messier catalogue and all of the extra information on stars, planets, constellations, etc. is pretty expansive, even without the upgrade packages-- there is a TON of information available, all for free. This app is awesome! However, lately (I started noticing it a few months ago), the feature that allows you to point your phone at the sky and see it on your screen has been so buggy it's impossible to use. When I try to do this, the portion of the sky that shows is about 100 degrees off from the real sky, and shows at the wrong angle (the horizon line is almost vertical). The calibration screen will pop up for a split second and then go back to the sky chart before I have a chance to do anything. Those two screens will cycle until I stop it switching back to manual scroll. I really wish this bug would be fixed-- this is the best feature of the app, in my opinion! The app is still great but definitely not as fun without that feature.

Outstanding!! I have been using this for over 5 years. This App is a great tool for everyone to have. Show and teach your children and others the constellations and also impress others with your knowledge of the stars. I learned all of the constellations with this app and my girlfriend at the time whom is my wife now, used to say that that she was amazed at my knowledge of the sky and stars. She was so amazed at my knowledge that she eventually fell in love with me and told me later that one of the reasons is because not many people can show and explain the stars anymore and it she felt like she did when she was a little girl and her granddaddy would show her. Thank you Starchart*********

Get a different app. I’ve tried three or four different free stargazing apps and this one is probably the worst. The biggest problem is that it insists on giving Arabic names for most stars even though it says it uses the main language you use on your phone—I don’t even have Arabic downloaded to my phone. But it also seems to miss things altogether—the other day I was 90 percent sure I was looking at Venus (which is huge) and it didn’t even show up. It doesn’t acknowledge several smaller constellations. I’ve never seen it acknowledge a meteor shower. It basically contributes nothing to my life. Oh I guess it helped me get better at recognizing Saturn—that’s one it usually gets right.

Interesting app. I've had this app for awhile but never used it much; I got it b/c a Facebook friend who's into astronomy frequently referenced it. Recently I (somehow) enabled notifications which, combined with this year's Pluto coverage, has led me to open the app much more often. I really like all the reference information and am learning a lot - the universe has changed considerably since my school days back in the Dark Ages. 🙂 However, I too, could use more & better instructions. Right now I'm more interested in reading the text than using it to look at the night sky, but I keep getting lost while trying to navigate the app. With better instructions, I would gladly give the app a higher rating.

Useful and pretty!. Take it from an astronomer, this is a highly functional tool you can use at the observing site in place of other media. The night eyes preservation mode is great, and the search and trac functions are wonderful. There are even little animated tours thrown in for fun. The graphical representations are accurate enough to get an understanding of scale, and they look great too! Very nice tool for finding objects and exploring the sky (above or below the horizon). Highly, highly recommended. .99? Uhh... yes please!

I love this app. I've been using it on an iPhone XS for awhile now and on a 12 mini more recently. With the skies being more clear in recent months there have been many bright objects in the sky worth checking out and this app has been very helpful in that regard especially when it comes to identification. I also like aiming it in the direction of the Sun's location at night - it always blows my mind a little :)

A good app, but.... I LOVE this app, and I use it all the time for finding planets, and deep space objects to observe through my telescope. I also appreciate the accuracy of each star location in relation to one another, even down to the 11+ magnitude stars, but I purchased the satellite addition recently, and even though it shows it in the sky with an apparent magnitude in the negatives, surely brighter than most stars, i see absolutely nothing! I don't know what's up, but looking at the iss is the only thing the upgrade's useful for. I also am disappointed that you used the messier catalogue only for deep space objects, because now all deep space objects in the south aren't listed, even the carina nebula! I hope that these bright southern DSO's can be added, and perhaps the new general catalogue. Other than that, this app is great and I spend hours on it star hopping to find the next galaxy!

More locations!!!. So I'm a nerd interested in constellations and I thought this app would be great to help me learn the stars’ patterns. I live in a state that is almost unknown, and in that state, I live on a teeny tiny neighborhood. I wasn't aiming for my neighborhood in particular, but somewhere close to it, like Fayetteville or even Charleston. But no. There wasn't a single city in my state listed on the app, which sort of ticked me off. We may be unknown to literally everyone, but every other state will be thanking us heat-packing rednecks for fighting for our second amendment. I really hope this app is still in progress. If you don't live somewhere world famous like Washington or Los Angeles, seriously don't get this app. Good graphics tho.

Really, really great. I don't write reviews for apps. But I've used this app for so long, and it's so good, that I felt it deserved one. My favorite things: It has SO MUCH information on it. Anything you could possibly be looking for is there. Even when I'm not stargazing, I use it to find moon/planet rise/set times. And it doesn't need wifi or service! This is especially nice since it's not uncommon for a good stargazing spot to have terrible service. I haven't found a star chart app I like as much as this one, and this one is FREE. Get it. It's great.

Star Chart. Star Chart is our go-to app whenever we are stargazing at Cherry Springs State Park in Pennsylvania, at the lake in Maine, or the beach in Florida. Finding our orientation to the horizon and the elliptical plane could not be easier. Finding various constellations, individual stars of interest, the Sun, Moon and each of the planets is made so simple. We especially like the way the magnitude of stars and planets including conjunction of planets are displayed. Thank you for a GREAT app.

It actually works!. This app is awesome.I think I’ve been using it for almost 10 years now? Not that often, but when I am curious about a certain star, like I am right now, because I randomly woke up at five in the morning and I’m wondering what that morning star is, bingo, this app tells me what it is! There was that one time when it glitched out, maybe because my phone was so old (iPhone6s), but it doesn’t seem to be having any problems now with the new phone (13pro). Solid!

Really Handy. Really Old!. I’ve enjoyed Star Chart for years — occasionally pulling it up on my phone, when gazing at the night sky. I was pretty sure it was the best app for star gazers. …but as I contemplated buying in-place upgrades or switching to it’s paid cousin, “Star Chart Infinite,” I was dismayed to find that Escape Velocity hadn’t updated the app in at least 5 years — this missing NEOWIN and likely other space artifacts. I guess I’ll hunt for a newer replacement whose developer keeps it current!

Not working/working now. What’s with the app? It’s always been my go to app to look for planets etc and last night I thought to add the comet opt but when I loaded my app all I got was a flashing star in the middle of the screen with overlapping words going downward from the flashing light. The menu works well but not the actual ‘sky’. I tried calibrating it as suggested but still nothing. I uninstalled and reinstalled and the same thing happens. It would have been a 5 star had it not been for this. Update: I figured out my new case had a magnet that was causing my display to be out of whack. Once I removed it, my ‘sky’ was back. Yay! Still I’m disappointed to read that the comet Neowise is not on the the comet app. Will it be added before the comet disappears? 4 stars for now

Was great, when it worked!. This app was awesome when it worked as it’s supposed to. But for the last year or so it never shows the correct positioning of anything. I have tried every single “solution” out there, but it still shows the path of the sun as way lower in the sky than it actually is. My phone itself does not have any other location or compass issues so it seems to be an issue with the app. Even deleting and reinstalling the app did not work. I am disappointed that this app I paid for does not work anymore, because there really is no other similar app that compares.

LOUSY FOR COMETS. I paid $9.95 for the comet upgrade, and the last 2 AMAZING comets were not in it!!! also bought The meteor showers upgrade and there are numerous minor meteor showers that aren’t included also. I can look in the newspaper for the Perseids. I was hoping this would go a little deeper, you know? . And the upgrade packs are 10 bucks apiece! SOOO disappointed!!!! The manual says they’re a handful of comets included (Hayley’s, etc.), and newer significant ones will be added as they appear. Wrong. Didn’t happen. What did I pay for? Can I get my $9.95 back for the comet upgrade package please? Display settings are also a little. wonky. if u put the star names on it’s so cluttered it’s hard to see anything, but if you zoom in it’s more useful. But Adding images and adding lines doesn’t seem to have any effect at all. It’s frustrating to use. I thought if I turned everything off except comets, then comets would be really easy to find. But tons of other stuff still appears anyway. It’s one of those apps where you get the feeling they were really excited about it until the money started rolling in and then they just stopped working on it. However, it is great for planets.

Love this app. I know my winter constellations but I’m still working on summer and late autumn, and I’m out of practice. When I take the dogs out at night I pull out Star Chart to answer “What is that bright object?” A 5th (rating) star will be earned when the Augmented Reality mode (point it at the sky and it’ll show you what you’re looking at) tracks a little closer. Though upon reading the User Manual, I learn that this could simply be the best this older phone can do. (I have an iPhone SE.). It’s only a little off, but enough that I usually have to sight off a known object to match screen and sky. That said, the app is beautiful, versatile, inexpensive (go ahead, buy the upgrades you want, they’re really not that expensive), and has among the best User Manuals I’ve seen in an app. Bravo.

Great app with some quirks. I love this app and use it to inspect the sky before using my telescopes. Its very smooth and I like the experience of moving the sky around and dragging time forward so easily. The visual effects are very beautiful as well. Some areas that need improvement are the clutter of constellation s and stars should be something I can dial down or up based on visibility. Second it should be easier to confirm location. Third the search experience needs some way to super or categorize results by visibility. These features would make this app perfect.

I absolute love it. But. This app is such a help to me its unbelievable. I am an astronomer and I have a nice telescope that I use mostly in the summer but sometimes in the winter. I strap my phone onto my telescope and I use it to locate nebulas, planets, and even a few comets. It's been amazing. I have bought two upgrades. Meteor showers and comets. They both work perfectly. I might buy the mesires upgrade as well but if I do it will be the last one I buy. The only complaint I have is that I think the upgrades are a little over priced. I mean they work but it's an app and that's a lot of commitment for an app. That is the only thing I thine is wrong with the app. If you do have problems delete the app, restart your iPhone and then download it again. If you bought any upgrades you can re download them for free. Five stars from me!!

Awesome app. I have been doing amateur astronomy for over 45 years and I wish I would have had this app back in the day. Any level of observer can use this app. You just point your iPad or phone up to the sky and the app shows you what your looking at in a very realistic way. The screen can be customized in so many ways and you can access whatever level of data you would like. You can even see the Space station or Hubble. I love astronomy and this app is a great way to enjoy the sky and learn at the same time.

Ethan, you’ll be the best scientist!. I’m sure I’m going to love this app, but I wanted to give a 5 star review of Ethan’s comment. I saw a post on a FB group about the planets in the sky tonight, and stumbled upon his review of this app while searching for a constellation app. This is the most pure and heartwarming thing I’ve seen in a long time. Ethan, if you see this, keep reaching for the stars (pun intended). I’m so glad you've found something that has brought you joy in such a challenging time. I can feel the enthusiasm and love you have for the universe, and I hope you become the next Neil Tyson Degrasse.

Perfect for finding planets and stars. I’ve had this for a while now and love how easy it is to find the planets and stars in the night sky. If using your phone all you have to do is hold your phone up and you can see the stars or planets matching what’s on your phone, one of the simplest apps to use for night watching of the skies. You can even see satellite’s and the time they pass over your location the app has the flight times of the International space station and you can see it when it passes over. All N’ all it’s perfect for viewing the night skies

Mostly good. As a star chart, it is pretty good. The red night vision mode is a nice feature. Where it gets annoying, however, is with its strange use of notifications. The purpose of the app is to find stuff in the sky, so I would expect the notifications to be used for that purpose. For example, I would like to get notifications of upcoming meteor showers and bright satellites like iridium flares or the ISS. I find the "this day in history" notifications it has instead to be thoroughly useless and annoying.

Awe-inspiring. It too a little time to fully figure out how best to use this, and perhaps I should have read or watched something, but now I feel so comfortable after a few uses. I really enjoy seeing a star in the night sky and very quickly and confidently be able to identify it. I also enjoy being able to look for a planet that I know will be visible and determine where I’ll have to look to find it. I love the UI and the ability to scan the skies in real time as the display scrolls along with me.

Great 👍. It’s a cool app but definitely could be better I live in a big city and so all the lights from the city kind of block out The stars and what not but I went on vacation somewhere quite far away from the big cities in the night sky just lit up it was amazing but I never brought my telescope out there to look at everything yeah I’m not blaming the app for what happens in the city but I hope everyone understands and yeah. Anyways enough about me so the app has a bunch of cool planets and stuff it helped me find Jupiter Mars Venus and the other planets. And when the moon was out it was just extremely spectacular but I don’t need this app to find the moon. Does anyone know how annoying Siri is? Anyways it’s a nice app but I wish I was just in a better place where I could see everything I guess that’s the whole point of this review just a wish. And nice graphics too

I can see my house from here!. I use this app everyday when I need a moment of peace. Exploring the universe is a constant source of joy. Don't we all feel a little alien sometimes? Don't we all look at the stars and wonder where we came from? Thanks for this app. I really enjoy it. I never have bugs or problems and the in app purchases are reasonably priced. I bought the meteor shower add on and love it. I'm eager to see some falling stars!! This app is so much fun! Thanks for that!

App needs an update. I really like Star Chart. I actually purchased all of the additional expansions in the app. Sadly, I have never been able to see any of the satellites. I’m super pumped that I spent $5 on that. 🤨 I attempted to report a quality issue, but the App Store doesn’t show a purchase history for me to be able to do so. If this app actually showed me the things I paid to see, and got updated more than once every 7 years or so (those satellites I want to see? There’s a ton more out there in the last YEAR, let alone 7!), it would certainly be a 5 star rating.

The Best Astronomy App...and Free!. I can't believe this fantastic app is free! It does everything I want in a star chart and has the basic function of labelling Messier Objects which makes it useful for using my telescope. Other Pay apps like Star Walk have a very glossy interface but no option to show Messier objects on the main chart...making it near useless. This app is simple, clean, and highly usable. It even has night mode and can move in conjunction to where you point it at the sky. I commend the developers for making an excellent app that does everything right!

Star chart upgrades. I love the app, however, I paid for the satellite upgrade. Never got it. Instructions for this problem says to “re-install app” by hitting the blue “re-install” button. Previous upgrade purchases will be remembered and won’t be charged for again. After trying that unsuccessfully several times. I deleted the app and re-installed it. It apparently didn’t remember my upgrade purchase. So much for me trusting the app with upgrade purchases.

A bit bugged out. I used this app constantly. I loved to go outside and finally figure out what stars and constellations I was looking at. I guess I used it so often that it kind of broke? It may just be a bug, and there may be a way to calibrate it, but I can't figure it out. When the compass pops up to re-calibrate, it disappears immediately. The map is off track (moon as a reference, it isn't in the right position when I hold up my phone, and neither are the rest of the stars). I don't want to have to go through the trouble of downloading the app again just to get it to work. Must be a bug? Please fix!! If the app were easier to navigate and if there was an easy way to calibrate it, I would give it five stars. Loved the app otherwise, though,

Cool. This app is so cool, it has a lot of amazing features and you can go outside and look at the stars and learn all about them. You can lean about the starts and all the planets as well and look at them, you can see when the sun sets and rises and you can see the distance from any planet from the sun. There are lots of constellations to see and find on your own. It is a little confusing to work but after a little while of clicking around you will get the hang of it. I highly recommend this app if you are into stars and planets. There could be some improvements on the controls so you know what you are doing but besides that it is really cool!!

This app makes my morning, EVERY morning!. I work for a job that has me leave before the sunrise, and each morning I see stars that I didn’t know the names of. started using StarChart regularly and I have become more familiar with the night sky than ever before. It enriches my entire day—I find myself talking with my coworkers about how I’ve seen Jupiter, Saturn, Venus AND Mars all in the same sky that morning! I love that you can point your phone anywhere in the sky and it shows you like a window to the universe, even below the horizon. Sometimes indoors I’ll open it, just to remember that I’m on a planet and a enormous universe.

Four years ago?. Still works pretty spot on for me, a few ticks and twitches, but at least they haven't rewritten and ruined what works so well with it (that so many other apps do in their misguided rush for... change). It would be nice to see an update, nothing more than bug fixes would be encouraging to those of us that kicked in a few bucks because we appreciate the app... Definitely worth the price of admission, especially if it guarantees longevity.

Please help. No way to contact developer about this but - the app was better before I purchased. I could see everything, the constellations and beautiful images behind them. I was in love. So I purchased thinking I was supporting the developer and it could only get better. Well it seems that the app has been degraded since the purchase. I no longer see the beautiful images. The version after purchase is much worse. I’m thinking it’s somehow a glitch and the beautiful version is available for free. Please help - I wish I could remove my purchase and go back to the original version =\ was so in love now I’m sad each time I open.

Best App if you like astronomy and the stars. Absolutely awesome…this app is like google earth in reverse. Point it anywhere and see all the stars, constellations, planets and more. Easy to use, many functions, with a lot of flexibility and excellent functionality. A must have from the novice star gazer to the tenured expert. Instantly see where you are, in the universe, orient, navigate and learn all the nights sky. You will love this app…

Amazingly good. One improvement needed: if the constellation illustrations in this app were fainter, less dominant and didn't tend to block out the stars of the constellation, then identification of the actual stars in the sky would be easier. However, I've tried several similar apps, and this one definitely is superior& most closely approximates the location of the stars, and the search tool is excellent. Only thing is it tends to get stuck in search. If I search for a star and find it, then try to go back to the homepage, it often shuts down.

Where has this been all my life?!. Hi i am Ethan, im 12 and wish to be a scientist when im older. I just got a telescope for my 12th birthday, and i have been strugling trying to find things in the night sky. Today my science teacher showed me an app on her phone because she knows i LOVE science, she reffered to this! Star chart. I thought it was interesting so i told her, "i will definetly download this!!" So i get home and i immedietly run to my phone and search... Star chart. This app is litteraly the ABSOULUTE lifesaver! As im typing this is is 7:35 pm. I looked and mars was above the horizen. So i rushed outside to the deck with my telescope and pointed it, to where i thought Mars would be acourding to this app. Since this is the only time we can see it really good until 2030. This was HUGE, Mars is my first planet i (May) find, i am pretty sure last night i was on the hunt for Jupiter. I seen a bright object that was orange, i used my focus scope to put it in the crosshair, and i sall nothing. I bought a extension that extends the normal vision of a telescope for another 8000 meters. I put it in, so im hoping i can get a good look at mars. If you are reading this and want to be like me... Be like me!!!! This stuff is so interesting, good luck to those who are wanting to find mars, I encourage you!!!! This app gets FIVE STARS!!!!!!!!! Where was this all my life?! 🤣

Best Free App For the Stars!. I knew nothing about the stars but when I came across this app I said to myself "Why Not Give It A Try." Believe me, it turned my knowledge of the dark night into a bright opening of the Stars! I use this app almost nightly! And when the night sky has no clouds a whole new experience of the night sky opens up, thanks to this app! I've told all my friends about this app and they all agree it gave them a new view of the night sky! It can do the same for you too. Give this app a try. It is a five star app!

Super Educational!. This app is really cool! It shows the planets and stars, it also gives information about what constellation the planets and stars are in. It says how far away the star or planet is from where you are at. For the planets, it lists what and how many moons there are. It gives a lot of info about some of the plant's size, rotation, temperature, gravity, etc. It also shows you some Messiers. Shows you the outline of the constalations. It is super educational and good for learning more about space itself.

Very good. As someone used to paper star charts, I have found my initial few minutes using this app very satisfying. It has done what I wanted, identified the orange star we can see from our deck.... thanks.... I'm interested in what other features can be unlocked now.

Comprehensive!. I love Star Chart for giving me an ongoing interest in the night sky. It is reliable, and beautiful.

Truly powerful. Awesome. I would recommend it for every one. Very useful and essential.

Great but expensive in app purchases. A great app, visually impressive, AR mode is terrific for lining you up with the actual sky. My only issue is you're constantly reminded that you are not getting the full experience without several expensive in app purchases.

The best app ever. I love learning about space and especially those stuff that are ly away so I love it sooooo much

Beautiful!. This is a beautiful app showing our galaxy in great detail! I love it, besides the other in app purchases it's incredible!

Amazing. Great quality and and everything works so well i would recommend it to anybody who like astronomy so keep up the good work star chart 👍🏽

Great App. Great little app, I’ve used it to encourage my daughter to look for different stars, now she goes Dad which star is that, then we discuss - thanks Martin

Amazing App.. It works perfectly and it's super easy to use. It gives you a lot of knowledge about all the stars and planets in the sky.

Our Solar System and Beyond. Great app everyone, kudos to you. Am I correct in saying we have no details of our own planet. If so, could someone please add details for our own planet Earth in the planets section. All the details of Description, Planetary details, Characteristics etc. 😀

Get it now!. I thought the was just a gimmick, but it actually works and has had me answer many family questions on the solar system. If you ever get asked what star is that? You have the answer in your pocket. Get it now!

Very helpful. I recommend this app Internationally for coordinating Starwatching across zones. Easy to be on the same page. Make sure Everyone is using the same app, whichever you use, but this one is great.

Great Informative App. Great little app for those either an interest in things of a stellar nature Shame so much must be purchased in app though, a few more common inclusions would have been nice

Awesome 'free app' so much detail with no ads!!!. Living in central Queensland Australia. Have used this app now all over Qld. Love the details. Love that I get so Much for free. Will upgrade one day as it is so amazing. Point to the sky and get the answers. Amazing!!!

Excellent app. This is a fantastic app for viewing the night sky. It is a great assistant for working what that bright star is - actually it's a planet! Or finding out what that blob of light is - a galaxy! There are a lot of paid extras however. But the meteor addon is probably the most helpful one to purchase. The app isn't cheap but it's well worth the price for the sheer volume of information and educational worth it provides. I highly recommend using this app.

Great for beginners to identify popular constellations!. The best one I've used so far. Just point and enjoy the beautiful graphics of all the familiar constellations such as Pegasus, Orion, southern cross etc. very well done. I might use more features as I learn more but for now it's the best!

Great app.. Easy to use, easy to see where on the screen transfers to the actual sky making finding stars easy!!

Love this app. Have installed this on both my phone and tablet and absolutely love it. Don't know if it's professional quality but if u want to know where something is in the night sky I'd recommend this app! Nice

Good In Theory - with a lot of in app purchases. As title states this is a good app, the details are great and information pop up and reminders are well done BUT there are a lot of in app purchases to have it functioning at its best. They are not cheap either. While I can appreciate the effort and time put into creating the add ons I'd be more likely to purchase them if they were discounted and offered in a bundle pack. The interface looks good on first open but the swap between a "view event" and real time chart is cumbersome. That clunkiness is all throughout the app and its switches between menus/options. The aesthetics are impressive and enjoyable, the random shooting star animation is a cute touch. Most importantly the stats for each celestial body are informative and well done. All and all a good app but if you are looking for a one off payment equally a complete package type app than look elsewhere.

Awesome. I thought some things I did mattered, and then I looked at a star 60 million light years away from Earth yesterday and realised I am small potatoes ! 🌔🌍🌞✨💫🌛🌝🌤 Great App !👏👏🏻👍👏

Won’t show satellites. Paid for satellites in extras but won’t download, just keeps crashing when I try

Great but disappointed now. I use to love this app, I'm a star gazer from years ago, this was a great addition to my life and so much fun both for myself and many of my friends. Now though it just wobbles, Constantly simmering . Perhaps it's just my iPhone and iPad but it is so frustrating and very disappointing. Don't know why it happens, have deleted and reloaded many times and it still simmers away. Are well tome to go and find something that actually WORKS

Location rarely works. Star Chart usually won’t show the stars in the right positions. It says it has my location right, but it doesn’t.

Star Chart. For someone that would like to get back into "Star gazing" this is an App that can help me get back into a fantastic pastime. The darker the outside environment the more your eyes can gain light from distant light sources. There is so much to look in ore, that if a white light is used to read a map, drawing or notes, your night sight can be put at risk. Having a "Night" red light function means you can keep your night vision, and using the app, you can see a lot more that most of the books l have on this topic.

Great app. Great app. Easy to use. Yes it does cost a bit more to purchase extra functions but it really is worth the investment as there is so much detail about nearly every feature you can see in the night sky

One of the best but pricey. This is one of the best astrological chart apps going. The only problem is the in app purchases that are at a high unit price for so many add-ons. While I appreciate the amount of effort that has gone in to develop such a comprehensive program, it may be too expensive for those that have but a passing interest in the subject.

Can't get much better then this. Fantastic app, it really is. It's beautiful, easy to use and packed with rich information! The best part is it's free UNLESS you want additional add on features such as the ability to view meteor showers and satellites, etc. This is how the developers make their money and in my honest opinion they deserve it! Job well done!

Great App For Australian Skies. This is a great app for helping a novice star gazer like myself. Useful tool with telescope pointing co ordinates from gps position. Have deleted two other apps which just didn't cut it for Australian skies. This one works. Good for learning the basics before I upgrade to a goto computerised telescope. Give it a try 👍

amazing. this app is 🤩 amazing if you want to The top of the stars and learn more about them then this is the app for you I highly recommend it💗🤍♥️😍👍

This an amazing app. People that want to look at the stars but don’t have a telescope can go to this app. It is really good for learning how stars and constellations work. The app tells you when there is a particular event like a metor shower or when apollo 11 went. I think it is really good, so far i am enjoying it a lot

A wealth of in-app purchase opportunities. I came across Star Chart in the App Store® when yearning for a truly "authentic" augmented reality experience, and this product does not disappoint. There's a wealth of in-app purchases just begging to be explored; it's so addictive I almost hope they never end! It seems I can barely scroll past a single constellation without another upgrade opportunity obscuring the view – I'll have to start deleting my contacts soon to make room for all these new "investments"!! Lol P.S. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is the lack of a 'daytime' mode. Going outdoors in the pitch dark – like they seem to encourage(!) – feels really dangerous to me. Stay safe!

Impressive. The augmented reality mode is fantastic. You can swivel your phone and the star charts moves as the phone moves. It is a huge difference compared to an old style planisphere. It would be great to be able to zoom in and out more including zooming the font size. I am new to using the app, however so farThe information on the screen can be a bit crowded. I would like to be able to customize the size of labels of constellations so that they stand out more against what can appear a cluttered background. But look forward to using this more.

Unbelievable. Full 360 degree view of stars! Love it! Wish more info about constellations would become available.

Simply Put:. The best free star gazing app available. My friends and I have been using it for 4 years, it's just so reliable. Ironically I've been using it less and less, because I'm now able to recognise stars and constellations- thanks to this app.

Great App When It’s Not Crashing. Myself and my children love this app however it now crashes whenever I click on a search item with my iPad Pro. Tried reporting to developer however I couldn’t as it couldn’t find my linked subscription. The cause of the app crashing is when I restore services, if I don’t restore services then it works. Not happy that items I have paid for makes the app useless. If you don’t want the upgrades then it is good but if you do then it’s not a good app. This isn’t the first time this has happened.

Clear and informative. Even without extra purchases, this app will guide you through the basics of the night sky, also on the Southern Hemisphere --not all other apps include the sky down under!

Really good and very useful.. Greats app. Just a lot of in app purchases but I see why they need money to keep it going. The in app purchases don’t get in the way of how good this app is.

Parents. So helpful when looking at the sky with the kids. Nice work

Great. I think star chart is amazing I got to see Neptune, Mars, Uranus . Only problem though is if you wanted to see something urgently and couldn’t find you could put a search bar so you can see it quickly ( just saying 🤓 )

So user friendly. It’s almost like looking up into the night sky, except now you can see everything. See the constellations, planets & their paths with clarity including everything underneath the horizon too. Heaps of interesting info & stats with just a press. The graphics are amazing too!

Photographers dream. This app is fantastic for planing night photos. I can work out the best time and position my camera to get awesome results.

Star Chart Review. I really enjoy it. It sometimes looks really crowded with all the texts but thanks to your help, I was able to find 4 constellations! The app is really accurate in scaling for where the moon and sun is. Wish you don’t need to upgrade to see other constellations and other star names. Overall, a really good app!

Sky looks different. After the initial novelty and suspension of frustration, I find it disappointing that the sky just looks nothing like the images this app presents. No, I am not expecting to see actual pictures of crabs and Viking ships in the sky... but at least the visible stars and planets should match up with what's presented - and they just don't quite do it for me: right now I am looking at Jupiter and, in my basic spotter scope I can see what looks like several moons which happen to be in a straight line; in this app they are not shown, or they are in the wrong places. While bright planets can be found and identified, on the screen they are shown to be closer through gross exaggeration of their size, which I find unhelpful. Speaking of exaggeration, the galaxies and nebula displayed by the app take the cake. They really take away from the usefulness of this app and make finding things more difficult as one has to mentally suppress the garbage. Could be so much better.

Great app.. I like this app. I would like some features be improved to allow the sky to show stars based on brightness as a setting to declutter the map. Easier ways to enter stars and map to go there. It would add to the UX.

Excellent to identify stars in the sky!. Really perfect for holding up to you view of the sky to identify stars & constellations (& planets & galaxies)! The in app purchases weren't necessary for what I needed so no interference at all.

Great App!. I love this app and as someone who has a great interest in astronomy, this app is a very useful tool to have. If you have a similar interest or would just like to have a cool app that locates everything in the sky for you, this is it. Get it!

Great app!. This is a really good star chat app, my only negative comment on it is how occasionally the gps has some issues, and I wish there was options to change the temperature from K (kelvin) to Celsius and Fahrenheit. Other than that it's great! I specially like how it has detailed written information on each of the planets, dwarfs, satellites etc, keep it up.

Awesome and reliable. I had app for several years now, and its been awesome for finding stars and planets in the sky. I bought the full version because I liked it. I'm not sure whether this is implemented yet, but it would be useful to be able to quickly switch to a focused view to Earth. Currently, I have to first focus on some other planet, then only can I focus on Earth. While zoomed out, it would be nice if the orbit lines of the planets can be displayed without needing to click on them. There seems to be a bug with the "gyroscope/auto rotating" viewing mode, as it seems to shudder and make sudden movements without any movement. It happened with a few other apps to, and I've seen other reviews saying the same.

Great. One of the best space apps around, but it would be really great to see astroids, comets and stuff through this app still good though

Screen constantly flashing. Screen constantly flashing, loading very bad on eyes. Unsure if possible to adjust. Other than that, the program seems good.

Excellent. Does what I wanted

Awesome. Loved it addicted to it…love the way it transports you to the planets 🤩

Very useful. Learned Astro navigation in the 60’s so have been interested in our solar system and all the stars ever since. This is great for locating bodies and showing youngsters the night sky.

Acheter rien arnaqueur. Des voleur acheter rien

Disappointed. Cool app, but paid for upgrade to see neowise comet and it is not included in tracked comets

Crash frequently. Crash frequently, and does not load the purchased packages.

Help. Love the app. Had to temporarily remove it and when I did a restore on the upgrades it charged me. Now when I try to use the app it shuts down.

Love this app. My family loves to use this app when looking up to the heavens at night, very detailed

Update Pluto and the rest of the moons. Nasa’s New Horizon has really nice Pictures of Pluto , I don’t know how long development takes for this kind of stuff but I’m still waiting. Also every time I go on the app and look around the galaxy for 10 mins it glitches and brings me back to my phones Home Screen.

Thanks. It is very easy and useful app. Thanks

Crashes all the time. I spent money getting add-ons to this but I can’t even get it to run anymore. It crashes constantly on startup. I even deleted it and reinstalled it. It worked for a minute or two, but as soon as I restored the add-ons, it crashed again. I can only run it without the add-one that I paid money for! Contacted the company several times and never heard back! There have been no updates for 3 years. Appears to have been abandoned!

Great looking glass. Fast and accurate. One of my favorite parts of this app besides all the great features, is introducing people to the cosmos , all thou that is not programmed in specifically, it just happens naturally. Quit whining about a comet and learn to do something without someone else showing you. This is to be part of the tool box , not oh I can’t figure anything out on my own like some wokester. :-)

Better app. Better app

Great App. Does everything I want it to do. Would be nice if I could enlarge the font for easier reading.

I like it. Easy to use great teaching tool for my grandkids Does all the basics very well

Bought comet upgrade. No Neowise. Very annoyed.

Captivating. Wow this app is so amazing and educational all our family use it and very excited over it contents and information available 👍🥂

Pas à jour. Le module supplémentaire COMÈTES ne contient pas et ne positionne pas Neowise, visible en juillet 2020.

Mac Mini M1. This app works flawlessly on my Mac Mini M1 16 gig Ram. Great program but I find adding all the extras too be way too costly.

Love love love!!!!. the animations are really pretty, and it’s so easy to find something in the sky. this helped me in school and i kept it because now i can’t stop looking at it :)

Satellites. I had Star Chart and even did one upgrade. A few years later upon using it again, they have made showing satellites an upgrade. I don’t like having things taken away after I already had it.

Superbe. Vraiment pratique. Une belle manière de présenter les constellations aux enfants et adultes

Excellente application. Très utile.

Awesome. I've only had this for a couple of nights but so far I am dazzled by the graphics and I am amazed how straight forward the instructions are . Yes , that's right it has instructions and they are easy to understand so you can get into the swing of things right away .

J aime bien.. Il n es plus complet en démo . Mais je trouve ce que je recherche une planète ,une étoile ,une astre .les satellites sont payants . Belle configuration il vaux bien son 4 étoiles .

Another disappointment. Purchased upgrades but none will load and app crashes after I get the upgrade to partially download then go to open it.🤷🏻‍♂️other than that this app works fine.

Apprécie. Merci j’aime regarder et admirer l’es mouvement du ciel et événement marquant

Boussole. Le logiciel est très bien conçu et très léger, le seul hic il faut régler la boussole pour qu’elle utilise le Nord géographique

Broken on iOS 14.3. Application launches then shuts down immediately but persists in the background. When you click on Dailey events it also now crashes.

NEOWISE missing. I upgraded to see comets and it wasn’t there, can I return?

Layman. It’s easy for beginners and low brow fellas like myself! Thank you star chart people!!

Names. English not Latin .

Do NOT buy the comet upgrade!!. It will not show neowise. It’s not on the list. 🤬

Something for the new star gazers. It’s good for any new star gazer to get some basic understanding of our universe.

Great app. Great app

Faciliter. Très bien mais un petit guide d’utilisation serait bien

Great free app.. Great app

Bravo!. Excellente application pour un ciel précis à portée de main! Merci…

This app is amazing. This app is amazing, me and my daughter are big fans of stars planets & NASA , this app makes it easy to find stars constellations planets etc, make sure to get this app it’s even FREE plus you can select the year the date the time, please get this app it’s amazing.

App crashes on launch. I find that the app no longer runs. Just exits on launch. Is a fixed. Version available?

Star chart. A great app. Very easy to use.

Intéressant. Cette application est très informative. Elle est vraie.

Great app. Till now :(. Loved this app, but last week it refused to open- crashed back to my Home Screen. Any help?

Piece of crap. I liked it to begin w’ years ago already. Updated to a ProMax 13 & I had to delete & reinstall it for it to work. I bought 2 packages, the extended stars & the satellite packages, & the app doesn’t remember me as a user & wants me to repay them extra money for the packages I already spent money on. Also as soon as U move the sky around, U have to close it & reopen it just so it moves around as U point Ur phone @ it. So this star chart app is pissing me off already. Download the next one in my mind.

Very cool!. This is helping me pass science lol

Very accurate. I like how it shows where all the planets are! 5 stars from me

Comets. Do not waste your money, app not show Neowise going to try to get refund.

Always awesome. Had this years ago on a big iPad that since died. Doesn’t work on a tablet. The giro cannot tabulate your position to the night sky at all. But on my new iPhone this is just as good as with iPad. So happy to see a comparable version now. Thank you to the developers for this amazing and educational tool.

Very well done app. I’m becoming a amateur astronomer and app is usually my go to app for up coming events and finding planets. Or things I especially need help finding out where they would be. I’m a retired army disabled veteran this is a wonderful hobby to have there’s always something new. I owe my wonderful new hobby thanks to apps exactly like this one. If you’re not sure weather to buy or not definitely buy it you will NOT REGRET IT!

Beyond Awesome: it's beyawsome!. Never had an issue with this app with 3+ years of ride time on it. Kids & I all like to mess with it. They like exploring the planets. I like dialing around in time, tho I've never gone more than a few k-years away. Now that I think about it, I wonder if I could dial back to a smaller universe, at least one whose smallness a non-astrophysicist could recognize….

Long Distance Gramm. I love this app! I started using it with my oldest Granddaughter after she showed interest in 2 antique books that she found at my home. They were written by her Great, Great grand uncle ( Leon Campbell) while he was studying Astronomy at Harvard. Now we use it on Summer nights and anytime I am away. I keep learning too! Perfect for walks under a clear sky!

Changed my life. After installing this app, my interest in the Stars has skyrocketed. Who knew the solar system, space, and the sky had so much to offer? And all of this is available to anyone with view of the sky and an evening to themselves! No doubt in my mind I'll be buying the professional version soon! I highly recommend this application.

Very Cool.... Really intersting app! So detail orientated, the unlimited information, that when you tag any stars & consellation names, that pops up, along with a way for me to locate the stars on my own telescope. Best part, i have always been so intrigued with space, and to be able to locate the I.S.S, so very very neat, Ive learned so much, Thank You, for making the learning process for space, constellations, etc. so very easy.

Fantastic. Great app. Love all the free features. Especially searching and directing where to look for planets/stars. I gave it four stars because: It's a little hard to get out of search mode or if you select an object and you want to switch screens or do a different search. It's also not completely accurate. Example I looked up Venus tonight. It directed me to an empty space in the sky, but it put me close enough. It's pretty hard to miss Venus with the naked eye. But it's free so I can deal with it.

Favorite App! 💗✨. This is by far my favorite app. It has improved my hobby of stargazing immensely! Now I actually know when things are happening in the sky, thanks to the alerts. For some reason, since the new year it seems, it doesn't alert me of moon phases (like new moon, full moon). Can't figure that out. But even with that minor fact, I have to give this app 5 stars. You get amazing, accurate features for free. Can't go wrong.

Can't Find It. I am very impressed with every aspect of this app. The only thing I haven't been able to successfully find is how to locate a future or past event such as where a planet will be located January 12, 2016 at 3:15 pm. I'm somewhat technically literate when it comes astronomy but in this case I have to admit l'm stumped. Even at that I have to rate this app a solid 5 stars.

Great app, thanks so much!. I love this app …only one suggestion: I’m older and my eyes are not as good as it used to be I wish there was a way to make the text bigger! Sometimes I see stars or planets in the sky and want to know what they are - your app works flawlessly but without my glasses I cannot read the name. No biggie though it’s probably just me and my old eyes. Thanks!

Saves you money. Other apps that cost three dollars or more give the same information it shows you where the constellations are and what they are called. But this app is free easy to use and gives not only where they are and the names but also this app goes in depth more than the other apps and explains the background info. I love to use this app and I love saving the extra money because every penny counts.

Stellar!. For someone who's directionally challenged the best feature is the GPS/compass star chart-whichever way the phone is pointed there's an accurate map of the universe before you. It's incredibly detailed. I rated it 4 because all the cool stuff that makes this app so stellar-e.g. a map of meteor showers-is available only via in-app purchase, and a few times I've gotten stuck in the app without a intuitive move to another screen, but on the whole it's definitely satisfied the amateur astronomer in me!

More detail than most. My friend has a different app same difference yours considerable detail & pretty seamless I’ve enjoyed it plenty blown a lot of people away with it specially my 94-year-old friend he was absolutely floored & now he’s got it too impressing his friends. thank you for bringing so much joyful moments! But the details are key for me great all around & haven’t even explored 1/2 of it! Thank you

Wish the upgrades would restore.. I like this app a lot but I go through periods when I don't view it all the time. I guess when the iPhone updates it does something to the app because I loose my upgrades. Several times I ended up “repurchasing” some only to loose them again. When I hit “restore” nothing happens and I then get a “download error, would you like to retry” (vey polite like) message. Its very frustrating. Not sure whats going on bit wish it didn't.

Amazing. I just recently got interested in looking at planets and stars from my window and this app works perfectly. I never thought that I would be able to see planets without a telescope. I thought all these years I seen a big star but with this app it told me it was a Jupiter. I was so amazed. Now I wanna study everything about space. It’s so cool!

Now you know!. You've been wondering what that really bright one is each night ... planet? Satellite? Really bright stAr? Well this will answer all the above and you can scan a later time/date to see what you may want to be outside looking at and enjoying. It's much more enjoyable when you know what you are actually looking at!

Wonderful, magical, stellar! 🌕🌖🌗🌘🌑🌒🌓🌔🌚💫. It's simply magical being able to point your device to the sky and to visualize all the stars and constellations above you, behind you, across the earth. It feels as though one were a super being capable of seeing through the earth, walls and skies. A magnificent tool for navigation and trail tracking through the dark skies of our national forests.

Good but needs an update. I've had this app for a while now, and up until the last few weeks, it had worked great. I think it needs an update to fix some bugs and it'll be great again. When I have tried to use it recently, the screen is very off and doesn't stay still even when you aren't moving the phone. It won't calibrate so nothing is where it says it is. When all of this is fixed, I'll come back and change my review if possible. I'm more or less trying to get the creators attention so they can fix these issues and the app can properly be used again on my phone!

karens review. Hi! My name is Karen and I got my son this app today and think its very educational and intelligent. It is cool and fun and recommend it to my co-workers at work. I showed Jennifer and she really liked it because she needed it since her cat peed on her oriental rug. I also gave it to my nephew Jimmy and it helped him because he is being bullied by a kid named Timothy. Now he goes home after school and looks at star. I am Karen and I approve this message. Thank you for your time!

Okay NOW constellations make sense. Pretend you're in the Star Trek universe! This app is beautiful and fun, and easily answers "What's that bright thing in the sky right now?" Point it at whatever you're looking at, zoom in & out, click on the magnifying glass to get more details; click back in the star field to exit the detail screen. You can also aim at the ground and see the view from the other side of the world. Freaking amazing. I love it.

To the stars by hard ways. I’m gonna say this ....first there is nothing out there that gets us more in touch with anything outside of ourselves more than the way this app shows the stars ,constellations and signs it’s been educational and exciting.. with a relationship to the stars I believe that there will be nothing that’s impossible in the future and this is the beginning of it......

Great. I use this app when I'm searching for stuff to look at through my telescope. It's great when I want to learn more about an object I'm looking at, or to find something to see. It gives you tons of info such as distance and object type. It shows what's in the sky tonight in real time, and is the perfect tool for any amateur astronomer trying to learn more.

Delivers what it promises. Installed on iPad G7 13.3. Works as described. I have some problems with compass misalignment but I can work around it. I know it can be calibrated, but in the field at night and not knowing where True North really is makes that a task. It also makes reliability suspect. I do wish star brightness could be toned down some. The bright ones are huge... very distracting. Any other criticism would be nit-picking. For a free app, this one has got to be one of the best.

Even the basic version is awesome.... Haven't paid for the full version, but the basic version very beautifully shows the night (and morning) sky. Every star is shown in their constellation (the European version of the constellation, not taking into account other ethnicities versions of constellations), as well as the planets and moon and Sun are shown.

In love. I'm obsessed with the sky but I now live in the city. I used to be very in tune with where the stars were and now I see a lot less of them. This app gives me vivid detail where all stars are and more information than I could ask for! I have friends that had star gazers and I randomly downloaded this one. After showing my friends they all downloaded this app as well.

Very useful and functional. Some say it's buggy but I've found that if you click "now" at the top you can adjust the date setting in order to see what view your location had or will have at other times and days. I think people are accidentally hitting that and then nudging the scroll to peel off sequential days in a time lapse form.

Love it.. Was depressed and had some time on my hands and a clear sky finally. Was able to use it actually is wonderful. I have other popular sky apps. I tried them but by far this is the best. Decided to review because the annoying thing about the app is it asking you to review. So I decided to do it in hopes it would stop. But it's a seriously cool app. By far best one out of the 3 I have had downloaded.

First stargazing app that actually works. Honestly, I’ve never seen a decent stargazing app. Ever. Mainly due to all of them either being free except upon purchasing, you are prompted to subscribe in order to use, or just crashing my device all together. This app is unique on the sense that it doesn’t scam you or frustrate you beyond human capacity! This is a great app and I find myself using it all the time to explore the heavens above! Thank you developers!

Star chart is the best. I love this app it is the best I love to look at the stars at night I will use it every day my mom and dad both have it are use it every night wherever I’m at I will bring my iPad and I will go on it I love seeing all the birds and ponies in the sky it is so cool and I love how it shows pictures of the solar system I love it so much

Astronomy newbie who enjoys using this app.... I recently switched work routines from early mornings to late evenings. One of my favorite things to do since then is smoke a bowl, get out my binoculars and this app, and hang out in my backyard after work under the night sky. There's a lot of L pollution here in the 'burbs so it's nice to have this guide handy, and despite the occasional crash I've gone ahead and purchased all the upgrades. One feature request I have is a jargon filter for those less experienced hobbyists like myself.

A little buggy but lots of fun. This can be a main topic of conversation! It’s so cool and I’ve memorized many stars and planets. Sometimes when I try to find some planets or stars (such the moon) it’s not actually there when I look, but I could just be that there’s clouds or it’s moving. Other than that, I love this app and would absolutely recommend if you love space

Great app but. I love this app but if you have to restore upgrades that you’ve bought you might as well forget it, I spent the past 12 months off and on hitting the restore button for my up grade. It goes to 33% and stops it goes to 46% and stops it goes to 2% and stops it goes the 99% and stops it’s ridiculous. I don’t have any other apps that do this please fix it.

Love seeing the bright planets. One night, a super bright star - brighter than every other one in the sky - was keeping me up at night. It shined right into my window and bed. I knew it must be something so I started googling. Thanks to this app, I easily found out it was freaking Mars!!! The other night, Saturn in my kitchen. And all sorts of fun constellations to learn about. That’s all I use it for, but still a fun way to recognize what’s in the night sky.

Great Free App. I've been using this app for just under a week and love it. The calibration is slightly off despite having the GPS settings on. When you first download the app, don't bypass the calibration step, as I haven't been able to get it back. It's not off by much, a mile or two, so it's easy to relocate manually. The level of detail in this app is impressive, and I am really enjoying its use!!! Highly recommend!

Amazing!!. I have downloaded a few Star Chart apps already and thrown them in the trash. They were useless —even the ones I paid for. But this one is free and absolutely incredible! I am paying for a few upgrades in the app but everything is really amazing and well done. Easy to use too!!

May need to reset your Location Services. This is a fantastic app! It is very intuitive and easy to use. One time though, I discovered stars etc. we’re not where the app said they were. My compass was also way off on my iPhone XR. I did a little trouble shooting and discovered if I turn off my location services then turn them back on, it fixes the problem.

Star cart..... Kind of..... To be honest, I very much enjoy this app. My biggest complaint came from the fact that they just want to shove the downloadable content down your throat. I miss when my phone just understand where was position wise to the night sky's. I would just wish they would create something, regardless what version of the phone you have, that wouldn't stay and I am interested in the position of myself in the universe.

Great app !. Very cool and friendly way to have fun while learning so much about the stars. So many childhood memories about the night sky watching the stars while camping or at the beach at night, you get the idea. Now I can identify, select new stars and learn about them, names, locations, tracking, satellites and their histories and so much more, check it out! I recommend it this app is GREAT ! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Kids and adults love it!. When we go outside at night and see the stars, my kids always ask for this app so they can identify them! They love looking at this with me! We are currently in Spain, 7 hours ahead of home, but my boys love seeing the same stars here! It did not automatically know I was in Spain and I had to reset the location, but it worked great once I did!

Big fan!. I’ve had this app since I was a kid. I’m 22 now and out of my last 3 phones it’s been on everyone of them. Yes it might crash once in awhile but it’s given me so much inspiration to take up astronomy again. I just bought a new telescope and I have to say this app is perfect for it. It’s very accurate. I haven’t bought all of the extensions for it but I plan to. I just have to say thank you!

Doesn’t always clear out... On the whole it appears to work really good, but one nagging issue is when you want to have the software work in conjunction with the position of your phone turning north east south or west sometimes it freezes on the last screen and you play heck trying to clear out going backwards to get it so it will rotate as you move your phone. Still, there’s nothing else out there like it. They are add-ons for features I think are outrageously expensive 🤑however. But, to each his own.. 🙂

Freakin' Awesome!. This app just took me back to my childhood. This is freaking awesome! You can move your phone around and literally see where each star and planet is. I shared this with my family as well. I travel, so I love seeing the stars, so cool to be seeing in different cities!! You have to download it if sitting on the porch and watching the stars is your thing!!! Because why? I said so! It's awesome!

Nancy. This app. should be the most popular app. On planet Earth! It has expanded my mind to the heavens. Seeing the stars and planets, then going outside and experiencing the wonder of our universe firsthand. I wish I had this kind of ease of information when I was a child.(70’s) My grandchildren will be able to enjoy the night sky . Again LOVE this app.

Always have a menu. I was trying to set my location and had problems. I wanted to try again, but I couldn’t get back to a place where it would let me try to change location. I have no idea where the location is set. I have no idea how to make it let me try to set location. I wanted it to read my GPS while I use the app. I put that preference in Settings, but when it did list a location, that location was a thousand miles from here. Just make things simple and always give access to a menu in an obvious way. Furthermore, make the text get bigger when I expand.

Comets not so much. Yes, old comets that you wouldn’t be able to see anyway, unless you could live long enough to see Halley again. Paid $3 for comet upgrade. Very disappointed to now find the most recent ones they are finding are not part of only 20 comets you could locate with this app. For example comet ZTF. Be sure of what your paying for, for the app won’t get involved with a refund.

Outstanding!. I really like this program. You modify it in the settings/preferences to be more fancy or less, and you can also freeze the sky so you don’t have to hold the iPad above your head. It gives extended info on the Messier objects, such as distance, size and more. I use it to plan out my nights imaging session and it works really great. Thank you!

Love this app. I’ve been using this app for the last five years to not only teach my kids about the sky above us, but to remind myself of where constellations and planets are from my own childhood. Whoever came up with this did a beautiful job depicting the solar systems from the shining sun to the actual pictures of the constellations. This app is outta this world!

home. my family an i are ready for a better place we just want piece an quit an have no worries ever since our house burnt down we have nothing only each other an that might come to an end as well but im trying to do everything in my power to prevent anything from happining thank you M2221;"() send my ride

Amazing. This app is probably one of the most unique and interesting app. This app tells me where everything is. Stars, sun, planets and ALOT more. I love this app and if you give it a bad review, I will support your opinion but I don’t understand why you would give it a bad review. I would give money for this app. If your reading this and didn’t download the app then just stop reading and download it.

Need to get this app. This star gazing app is the best that I have seen. People have written bad reviews saying things like bad app or buggy. But when people say it’s buggy all they mean is that from time to time it will stop following your camera but all you need to do is shake your device and it will center again. Other than that the app is great and gives great information on stars and planets. Get this app

Star Chart App Customer Service, Editor Notes:

This app has been updated by Apple to display the Apple Watch app icon. A few bug fixes: - Fixed occasional crash when selecting constellations, either from search or by directly tapping on them. - Star Chart now understands that Pluto has 5 moons, not 4. - When running in an English variant other than US English, planet/moon order text was not displaying correctly.
