Nope. I used it at home and it worked very well except the recording feature; it wouldn't even turn on. When my Ipad class downloaded it to use they were creating their stories of Watergate and the Court Cases that went with them. Then they all started crashing and it didn't save any of their work. Until they fix it....I wouldn't use this again.

Awful. I have a class set of iPads with this app already installed. Since I'm having problems getting my school district to install the story app I really wanted to use (toontastic) , I finally decided to let the students try it. They wrote their rough drafts on paper and finally were ready to use the app. I should have realized that since the app froze several times on my own personal iPad, that it would do the same on theirs. Sure enough after several students finished telling the story, the app froze up. I deleted, reinstalled, redid the entire story on my iPad, and sure enough froze again. I contacted customer support and got no reply. I have never felt the need to write a review of an app until I had to tell 20 kids that we would have to redo the stories on iMovie. Thanks grasshopper for my wasting students time!

Good Start. Positives: Great concept, easy to figure out, nice reader. Negatives: Page recordings did not work. Page recordings overwrote each other. Settings like word highlight won't stay off. Pages cannot be moved around. Book cannot be shared when completed. No rudimentary in app help. No sample book. Crashes a lot. There are better apps to send your time on developing a children's book.

Too Many Freezes. This could be a great app. Since the last update it freezes when creating and especially when trying to play the book. Months ago when I created my first book, I liked the app. Now I dislike it very much and will not recommend it to anyone. I am also thinking of not trying other recommended Grasshopper Apps. Hope this can be fixed. I teach small children and would love for them to be able to use this app.

How to save your book. I was having problems with it crashing while making my book and each time it would delete what I had made even though I had pressed save. I was very frustrated. Then I discovered that there's a different way to actually save. Make a page or 2 and press the "back" button. A window will pop up asking you to save, say yes. It will exit you out of your edit and will save it! Then press the little tools button in the top right corner of your book and you can continue editing and saving. It's annoying to have to do it that way but it's the only way I've found to actually complete a book without losing anything before it crashes. I hope the developers fix this. I haven't had any problems with it crashing while reading. My 2yr old loves his new book about his cousins!

Very entertaining. This story app is very good. It doesn't have a "full version" which I like. The only bad thing I don't like I'd how it exits when you click next on the last page of a story.

CRAP. This app is total crap dont get it itll give ya anger issues soon.I wanted to make a album book thing ok it took alot of time for me so then i saved the book i closed it so i can play crossy road i closed crossy road and opened the app and it says on my book "no title." Then i made another and tried to remember the pics that i chose for my old book i saved an all then i said to my self "this time id save and read then close. SO I DID THAT i closed, tried of another game wont harm so i opend jetpack joyride i played a couple of times i closed then opend the app and surprise surprise NO TITLE so if your gonna buy this app I suggest that you dont POSITIVE: If your device isnt like mine than you can reas books in peace:)

Please read this. This app is a HORRIBLE app. When the screen froze, I wanted to go to the iPhone home screen, guess what! When I went to the iPhone home, it made me go to the app again. So I tried to do it again, it made me go back!!! It was so annoying! I finally pressed the home button twice and it worked. Don't get it! 👺😡

I like it but.... Great idea-love that you can add audio into the picture on the page, not just the text; also love the highlighting ability and being able to match it with your speech rhythm. However it does crash a lot-I figured out if you create one page at a time, then it won't crash during creation-but that is an inconvenience...also when I finish reading the story, it freezes and I can't get back to home page unless I "x" out. I do like the app. I would give it more stars if you could fix these issues-it is easy to work with and a great idea otherwise-PLEASE FIX when you update!!!

Cute. I love this app. It never crashed, had great writing quality, and everything is great about the app. Especially the logo!

TeachernReviewe. Reviewing this app as we decide what digital storytelling apps to put on our student iPads. I love most Grasshopper Apps, so I was expecting this to be so great, but I'm sadly disappointed to see many of the same things other reviewers are complaining about. The first book I made worked fine, but now for further examples, it limits what I can add for text and then when I save the book, a blank book appears on the book shelf and when I try to open it, the app freezes up on a white screen. I'm using an iPad 2 with recently updated iOS. Hopefully developers will get these issued resolved soon!

Great App. Love the app and hope to go back to my classroom and use it! Would love it if we could send the books when they are done to parents.

Three words...crash, crash, and crash. This application started as my dream app, and would have stayed that way if it didn't crash ALL THE TIME. The available features are fantastic (ability to add clickable features with audio in the illustrations, recording yourself reading the book, etc.) but you have to go through a bunch of steps to save after each change or else you lose everything each time it crashes. And even after a book is created, if the app crashes while you're just making a few small changes...poof...the whole book disappears...gone. Horrible, horrible app, but so much potential!

Absolutely wonderful!. Love this app! The fact that you can record your voice and have the words highlighted puts this story making app far above similar story apps. Perfect for young children and adults recovering their language after a stroke.

the customized word highlighting is one of a kind!. I agree, this has crashed a bit but I absolutely love the customized word highlighting though- this is the only story making app I know of where I can set highlighting precisely for each recorded word- this feature makes this app a keeper. I also like how you can embed hot spots with recorded voice in each image. It would be nice to have some control over fonts, colors etc. but for quick functional stories, I like this.

Better than Story Creator Pro. I have been comparing various story creation apps and have found this to be awesome. I was even able to create an interactive game board with this app using the picture highlight feature, which is missing in the Story Creator Pro. I would give it five stars if you could put more than one photo on a page, like you can with SCP. No problem with crashes. VERY easy to use. I only compare these two apps because they are from the same developer. A combination of the features in both would be the cat's meow!

Great in theory. When I first saw this I was in love! With a few fixes it will be great. For ex it freezes when I try to view one of our books, so we can only read it in the edit mode! Also, we spent a very long time adding our voices to each page, only to find out in the end that it was only "remembering" the last thing that was said. For ex if the last thing we recorded was " the end", it plays those words on every page! We were very sad that we put a lot of work into it only to have it not work like it was supposed to.

great concept but can't use because it crashes and deletes. I love the concept of this app! I want to make social stories for the children in my classroom that need extra attention and encouragement. I have tried making the same story multiple times and, each time, the app has crashed, frozen, and/or deleted my story. I allowed a student to record his own voice on each page (since it was a story about him) and, when we got finished, the app had mixed the recordings up on several pages, sometimes having the same recording on multiple pages. It made no sense at all! The little boy got frustrated (and bored) with it because we kept trying to get it right and the app kept messing it up. Please keep trying to fix the bugs because, like I said, it's a GREAT CONCEPT for an app!

Easy. This app is very easy to use. Pictures import easily from your photos. It allows for recordings of short sentences. I like that it highlights words when reading text to the student. Quality final product.

Useful App for Kinders. This app is great for small groups writing together. It is also fun to write a story as a whole group activity when you hook up the iPad to your Smartboard! I like being able to let the children choose the pictures to go with the text, or vise versa! I like this for one sentence, repetitive texts. I would like to see the text field expanded to two lines of text. Several education standards can be meet using this app. Give it a try!

Lots of creative potential. I love this app so far. I hasn't crashed for us. My only requests would be the ability to share the books somehow, and the ability to add more text. The small text box seems very limiting, especially when trying to create a book for my older son, who is reading at a 2nd grade level. I'd love to be able to add a paragraph for each page!

Disappointing. I was very optimistic that this program would allow my young writer to make their own books. I also hoped to help struggling readers with the read by myself feature. Sadly the recordings don't match the pages during playback and the program is constantly crashing. The idea is brilliant... Execution very disappointing. Please fix the bugs!

Great app for reading fluency practice and writing. This app is great for elementary students to write stories. I also love that the texts highlights and students can record their writing which later can be used for practicing reading fluency. I do wish the text highlighted each word as it is read so that children could match highlighted text to words.

Crash!. It is a wonderful, wonderful, wonderful app, but when I try to read my book after I'd say about... 5,6, or 7 pages it would crash completely. This is happening to my iPad a lot lately so I am wondering if it is just the apps or if it really is my iPad. I am wondering if maybe I should just get it fixed. Easy to use. The app was easy to use to create a story. Wish there were options to share the story once completed.

Still figuring it out. I'm trying to get all the parts to work for me and just read the help section. I'm excited to make a story. It would be a great tool in the classroom. I get the feeling that books are available somewhere but where? I have plenty to learn! Why does the app stop working suddenly?a

crashes,dumps everything. I think the concept is great, but unfortunately, it doesn't work. I have tried to build a story, but it doesn't save text, pictures, or audio, even when you push save. I have just lost a lot of time trying. And yes, it crashes about every 2-3 minutes, but even when it doesn't crash, none of your work is saved. If they can fix this, it will be a great app.

Frustrating!!!!. This app is a great concept if it worked. My son has special needs and is learning to read. I thought he'd love to read a book about himself. So I spent a significant amount of my precious down time creating a book for my son. My first attempt was randomly dropped & erased after loading & recording 9 entire pages. The next 5 attempts just refused to be saved after I spent considerable time & effort writing these stories! Frustrated and disappointed don't even begin to capture how I felt trying to get this app to do what it says it does. I have never ever reviewed an app but I feel I need to warn other parents not to waste their precious quiet alone time on something that simply doesn't work & is inconsistent at best! Sorry-but it's true.

So-so. I was so excited when I found this app to use with our kindergarten students, but it hasn't worked as I envisioned. Like others mentioned, the app has continuously crashed or froze. Many projects have been erased for no reason and I can't even begin to say how sad the kids are. I also wish there was an option with the recording to preview it better. You waste more time guessing where to drop the pins for the word recognition than actually creating the book. This app could have a lot of potential if it is improved.

Crashes and stuff 👎. It won't let me read my books. Every time I try it crashes. Also you can only write like 5 words per page. That's not exact but it's very few words. It doesn't even have where you can write the author name. It's really not a good app.

Export please. I could do some amazing things with this app...and after showing it to my principal, I am supposed to present to the school board in February, but I am also having the crashing issues AND...I do not see a way to export the books for easier viewing on big screens such as a Smartboard. If there is a way, please please let me know. I love the app, not only as a teacher, but also as a mother!! Thank you!

Preschool SLP. I really love this app! Just started using it with my students. Love the ability to use our own pictures and voice. Have had trouble with it crashing at times. Also it freezes at the end of each story which is annoying(hence 4 stars). Fix the bugs and it will be a perfect 5 !!!

So vary vary good. I think that Little book maker is awesome backseat you get to take in some of your best photos put a title and make a book with them and it dose not matter what kind of photo because you will get to read it iny time you whant and you don't have to put words in it!!! The only thing that I don't like Is it is kind of a copy of book-a-be... : )

Okay. Really fun but I spent so long trying to make a story finally it was done but when I tried to open it up and read it the second page wouldn't work and ended back up on my home screen!

Write a Story Alligator App. There are some technical issues that must be worked out for use on an iPad. Sometimes the voice recording is not in time with the correct page. When I tried to correct the issue the whole thing froze up on me. I absolutely love the concept, but the bugs must be worked out. The Alligator apps books are wonderful, and it would be great to be able to create our own with our students.

It worked great. It worked great for me. The only thing I would like to see added is a way to share stories with others. As a teacher using multiple iPads being able to share stories wirelessly makes life a lot easier!

Awesome. I love this app--actually, I love ALL the Grasshopper apps! The ability to highlight words as they are being read is amazing! I really like the bookshelf, too. My only wish for improvement would be to email books to other users

Do not get!!!!!!!!. Ok this thing is terrible I can't finish my sentence and I can't save it!! When I saved it my story was blank!!! I will not download any more book games because I can not trust anymore!! ANYMORE I say!!!!

I want more though.. I am a special Ed. Teacher and use this app to create stories for my students with autism and behavior needs. It crashes when my stories are longer than 20 pgs. I would like it to be fixed. I also wish their was a way to insert pages when editing and a way to download or email to share with parents. Love this app. I just want more.

Confused. I would give this 5 stars but when I first put in the text then changed it it kept going back to what i first put in!! Annoying!! So finally I fix it, and finish it. I go through it and the text I fixed was back to the original text, and I don't know how to fix it! Help!

Very good. I like this app but it shuts down after reading a story. It would be better to go back to the home screen. I like to be able to record my own voice and match it with the words. Sometimes it's hard to get the voice and highlighted words to sync up.

Awesome but it crashes often. The app would be great if it consistently worked. I spent over an hour making a book, the program crashed, and I lost all my story. When it works it's awesome! It would also be nice to be able to write more than a short sentence. And even better if it allowed you to print the story. I have made several books for my 1 year old about trips and important events. This is her favorite app but she gets frustrated when it doesn't open or when it freezes as do I when it crashes as I am making a new book and I loose all I have done.

Freezes. I would give this app 5 stars but unfortunately it freezes and crashes all the time. I can get half way through a story but that's it. I love this app just wish it wouldn't crash so much.

Great idea, disappointing execution. Please continue developing, here are the main things that need fixing: -flexibility on layout options - sizing picture and adding more than one per page in different places -writing more than one sentence at a time -on front cover need to allow for two lines of text (title and subtitle) -plus name of author and illustrator etc; - save to pdf; format for flipping pages outside the app - crash fixes. We couldn't even see the book when it was done- kept crashing. Minor add ons: - choose fonts - choose pic from app library (in case one doesn't have a suitable one) I like the idea of adding video instead of pics- again, needs more flexibility on layouts, video formats, sizing and bug fixes.

Great if would work consistently. I love this app. It has so much potential. It hasn't crashed on me while saving, but it doesn't save consistently. And when i read the stories it freezes up at the end every time. As to features, it would be nice if you could take the pictures while in the app, and not just use them from the camera roll.

One of the better ones. Love the fact that you can record your voice, then the child can click on individual words to hear them. Easy to use.

Teacher. Great, but you can not edit. so if you want to make a change or add a picture, you have to start all over again. You can not delete. I am ready for the updates soon.

So sad; not good. Layout appears user friendly, but we found this app cumbersome to use. It also frequently crashed while trying to include our photos, and despite saving our work we lost everything with each crash. Hope this can be improved!

Great Idea, Poor execution. Like many have said, once you get to the end of the story it freezes. There's no way to go back, there's no way to double tap the home button to fix it, you have to close out the entire program and start over again. Also, you can only type one small sentence per page. If these were fixed it would get four stars. If the ability to share your stories via email, etc, was added it'd get five stars.

Could be good but isn't.. This app is simple and could be good except it has obvious and significant flaws. The main one is that the voice recording does not work. If you record more than one page of dialogue it takes over all the pages. Fix this and your app will get a hire rating. Add options for text fonts and the like too.

Crashes. Would be a great program if it did't crash after the fourth page and it didn't save what was done! I would be willing to pay otherwise!!!

Does not save. Unfortunately this app does not save very well. Made a story with my son and pressed save after every page. But app freezes and content is lost. This happened three times. Frustrating if all the work is lost.

Fun and educational. I love it. I have made a story about my pillow pets and friends I got the sounds working. Here's the tip just press read myself and record there. It crashed on me the 1st few times. It's better than buying iBooks and you can copy other books. By takin photos of you in a similar position dressed up u can make big ones to fit a comic book. It is good for a school library. You can have unlimited books on it and I think unlimited pages. I like to curl up with a pillow pet and read My story's. :T :P :) :S happy face.

Freezing and not recording voice.. Would be a 4 star review if the problems could be fixed. One of the templates doesn't play at all. Recording is inconsistent - doesn't record most of the time. Added bonuses would be options to share with iBooks and Dropbox. Also the provisions to take photos from within the app. Has the potential to be great.

Crashing. When you try and record you voice the app crashes and exits. Please fix.

Could be great... but stinks.. I'd pay for this app if it actually worked. All it does is crash and not save anything. It's actually exactly what I wanted as I love all the grasshopper apps e stories for kids - my little ones love hearing their teachers voice. But like I said, it just... Won't work. Until you fix it, it therefore stinks.

A bit more work needed. I love this app but keep finding it freezes and the sound recording won't work properly. Some of my students finished their work only to find that it didn't save properly or a white screen come up. Once this is fixed it will be great. It would also be good to be able to email a finished book so students can share their books with others.

Great. Great app for ESL learners. Children can create their own picture books but a few bugs need to be fixed as app crashes sometimes. I would also love to be able to choose different book covers.

Disappointed. It keeps freezing and crashing after I record my voice! Sooo frustrating and couldn't work out how to fix the bug. Pleaaaaaase can you fix that.

A must buy for any child.. I have seen numerous ebook makers and this one is wonderful. Everything is so clear and easy to use any young child can use it. My 12 year old also loves it and is making up her own library as I type!

App is broken, please fix. When I record sound it crashes every time in either template. I tried it without sound but I can only add one page. I can’t see how to save it or go to the next page. I am deleting this app if I can’t find an update

Fun and educational. This is a great app for creating social stories. Kids enjoy hearing their own voices as the story unfolds. Would be 5 stars if we could delete the stories when we wanted to.

Great App for social stories. This is a great app but I do sometimes have issues with it when first starting it up. It has been very useful for working with my children so its still 3 stars!!!

Potential. Theoretically this is an amazing app...unfortunately it glitches. Small app size is a bonus, super easy to insert photos from the camera (but requires cropping to square, can't even zoom out to have white borders around a landscape so prepare to lose some visual information). The recording and text highlighting option is, again, brilliant, but glitches. Easy to use interface; easy to type text, easy to record, easy to move pins for highlighting option (notes on use may be helpful, since once I figured out I just had to touch the pinhead to hear a sound bit I could work fast). So much fun that invisible sound buttons can be placed on the photo, and those seem to work. However...the recordings for the text don't always work (not sure if it happens when you get too many pages or go back to record out of order or edit) as the last recording gets assigned to the first page and the rest are silent (though highlighting still happens). Also, sometimes when you try to create a new book, the last one created is duplicated, and when I tried to remove the double all the info in my first book was erased too. :( very frustrating after putting in so much work. Also, save doesn't always work- went in to remove all punctuation so word library could be used and changes did not save. It would be nice if slightly longer sentences could fit on a page. Nice if the templates matched what you get (both show the text under the photo, and both overlap the photo-should have one of each). Nice if the arrow after the last page in a book took you back to the bookshelf rather than crashing. Nice if the word library could recognize punctuation! When I get a book that works my son smiles and laughs to hear the narration, loves to look at the pictures and to see himself in the stories. I can see how this app would be perfect if it wasn't for the above listed flaws. Just needs a little work.

Crash. The concept is smart, but the app keeps crashing and whatever work you had done is lost. I restarted my first story 3 times before realizing this app is wasting my time.....sorry but that's the truth

Great app. This is one of the greatest apps I have seen yet for parents to be able to make books for there kids in there own voices and pics I recommend it to everyone

Excellent.. Within minutes my 6 year old created his first book. Simple. Easy. Very very pleased. If you are looking for enhancement suggestions allow kids to write in with their fingers as well as type...allow different colors and fonts. Im off to see what else GrasshopperApps has on offer now!

Great app, keeps crashing. Although the idea of this app is great I tried it and the app kept crashing on me. Or I would finish the story and then go back and my story book would be a white page. My kids got so frustrated that it kept on crashing or showing a white screen that it was not worth using the app. It would of been a great app...... if it worked.

Great idea. My students love creating their own stories and reading others. A couple of little glitches that prevent me from giving this a 5 star rating, but really good nonetheless.

App closes. This app I found very easy to use, however once I created my books the app just closes. Then when I open it and try to review the book, the app closes again. Very frustrating after all the work put in and now I can't use them. Please fix this bug ASAP as I would like to use the app

App. This app is great and perfect for my project, but the problem is that it keeps crashing when I try to view my book.

Concept great. Wish we could put several pictures on one page like a collage or add more letters in the text part. Don't waste your time if your not patient, constantly crashes and you lose all that you've loaded.

Need to read this. Crashes to much I do not know how they do this you can not wright anything on your book only the picture and the title maybe it's because I have an iPad and it doesn't work on a iPad but maybe it works on other things

Okay😞. Great app and very fun, but it crashed right after I made a really good and long story. It didn't save and my screen turned white. Other than than great 😌

Where's my story. This app has such great potential. The user/author interface is simple enough. The features are adequate. It really has to work, though. Twice I attempted to create a book. Both times at the end, all I had was a title page. Where did pages 1 thru 5 disappear? Disappointing!

Ugh... I made a story with it but noo.. I tried too read my work but it wouldnt work, I absolutely don't like this but if you want too waste your time and space to download it I'm not going too stop it

All it does is "crash"..... My team worked so hard to put our story together and it didn't WORK...We could not open the book during our presentation....and it was so embracing....

Good idea but needs work. Crashes when the buttons for "read to me" etc are pushed. Unistalled for now. Will reinstall the app when these problems are fixed.

Potential. This app seems to have great potential across a variety of settings and users. Sadly, the app crashed repeatedly, just as I'm ready to add text to the first page. Hopeful for updates to address issues related to crashes.

Changes not saved. This was an easy app to u, however, if you edit the text, the changes are not saved. This is very frustrating and little ones get upset...big people, too!

Crashes all the time!. When I first got it it crashed once in a while, but the more I used it, the more it crashed! Not a very good app. No color choices and templates are my very good. It just takes up space on your device do not get this terrible app.

Goes to Fast. On the read to you the red color coding word thing goes to fast.

when it works. I too have a glitch. On the 2nd story when I click to the 2nd page it takes me out of the program. It is easy to set up. Hope they fix this glitch because I do like the app.

Great idea, bad execution. I was excited about this great app idea for my baby, but after creating a simple story, with a cover and 1 picture with sound, tie wouldn't even play regardless of what I tried. I deleted the app and will look for another similar option. I'm on iOS 6, iPad 3

Not Bad. I think this is good. The only problem is the limited texting.

I'm not sure it works so well. I was able to write a story, read the first page but that's it. It won't swipe or auto play to the next page. But I do love how my daughter recorded her voice, then thought she had a twin inside the iPad speaking back to her.

Crashes ALL THE TIME. Thought this would be a fun app to use with my son. It was OK for the first book we made and now it just crashed constantly. Unless this is updated, going to need to find something that actually works.

Freezes and Crashes at Present Time. This will be a great tool to teach concepts when the quirks are fixed. The interface is organized and easy to figure out. If only it didn't crash....

Love this App!. It is great to use for students who cannot read, because you can re cord.

Buggy. Great concept and has some cool features. Good for storytelling, working on expressive language, expansions, vocab, etc, etc.. Lots of potential but it freezes and or crashes often!! You lose all your data and have to start over. Also, a longer text allowance for sentences would be beneficial.

Ugh.... I was trying to make a bigger story, and I can't find any app for that, and I know I COULD use notes but I want to include photos and big chunks of text.

Hoping for some adjustments. I really like this app. It is very easy to use for my young students. However, I wish there would be some way to share what was made. Either via email, Dropbox, or some other form.

An Exercise In Frustation. Frequent crashing makes most everything impossible. Unable to edit or delete pages. Good idea with TERRIBLE execution. This app needs a lot of work before I would recommend it to anyone.

Ap lady. Love it! I use it with my first graders. I did have a lot of trouble with freezing and recording audio on the wrong page. When they fix this I will use it more.

Does not save. Does not save anything, even when you hit save. My only complaint. I have wasted a lot of time withthis app doing and re-doing pages.

Crashes- cant even use it. Made 1 book with 1 page and I backed out to check how it looked. It now crashes every time I click on anything in the program. It is a fantastic idea. I really wished it worked.

A lot of problems. This was a great idea. Too bad it freezes, doesn't always play the recording, loses text, doesn't provide a way to go in and make corrections and won't highlight the text. Performance is inconsistent and frustrating.

Great concept. Love the concept, but I can't get it to play back my story. None of the buttons on the playback screen work. Can't wait for the updates. I want it to work so badly! Very easy to create books, though.
