THE BEST. My son uses this everyday ! This is very effective.

Five stars if more I would give. My son is in preK and it’s hard for me to teach him. After the third card he get sleepy. But the flash cards have all his words and more. He went threw the cards more triple times than we could. Thank you so much!!

Settings. I’m unable to reset it to second grade instead of it being on preschool, very frustrating

Not great. While the app is supposed to teach recognition of the word, anyone can use process of elimination to get to the right word. The "foils" (other words listed) are not anything like the target word. This means that if a child can recognize the first sound of many of the sight words, they can use that to identify the word. This is also ONLY a recognition task. It does not require the child to read the word aloud and it allows an overly long amount of time for recognition of the word. While they offer a hint, giving the word itself as a hint seems a little too obvious. Yes, there are some nice features like the ability to change the "reward" words (the current ones make me want to poke my eye out) and the ability to adapt the list; however, I don't believe they makeup for the drawbacks. As a clinician making recommendations for students with learning disabilities such as dyslexia, this will not be on my go to list.

Good for existing sight words. If the word is part of the pre-existing list, it works well. I like that you can delete some of the list words to focus on certain words your little may be working on. However if you would like to add a new word, the word does not appear in the flashcard- only at the top. You end up having to just click a blank space. I agree with other reviews that it would be a nice addition to have a sense of right and wrong words selected to focus on for the future and a timer or signal for kids to know it’s ended.

No distractions. This is a good learning and practice app with no distractions. There is no fancy background pictures, game points; but great word encouragement. I am going to check out the other apps by photo touch. Thank you.

Glitch. We love this app but it keeps shutting off by itself while we are playing. Please fix this! Otherwise I love it!

Customization. It will not save my added sight words

Completely annoying. The sound keeps turning off, despite resetting factory settings over and over. Deleting!!!

Great, but needs multi users. I love this app for use with my students. The problem is that I can't set up multiple users, so I have to go in and reset certain words to on and others to off depending on which specific words my sdc students are mastering. This is time consuming and makes it difficult for more than one student to use the app in a day. If I had multiple users as an option, I could preset the words for each student before class, and they could take turns by clicking on their name and getting their customized word practice. Right now, I have to occupy my students with independent work for five minutes to get it set for the next student, then back to another students settings, etc. just not practical for more than one student practicing different words.

So much potential.... But no sound. My daughter has specific sight words for her test and I thought this would be my answer to the boring index cards. I took out all the words except the few I needed and added them in, complete with a picture. Go to do the sight words to test and when it gets to my customized words, no sound. A few quarks to record your voice, as soon as you hit record you have to say the word right away or it cuts the word you say off. So I figured that out. Later playing the app/game, my customized words don't have sound so when it's time to select the word, no sound is read and therefore you can't figure out the word. Also if there isn't a picture for the customized sound, it's blank and you won't know a card is even there to select! Totally bummed.

No sound. Three words are shown. Apparently you are to tap the word that is said but no sound came. I went to settings multiple times to turn the sound on. I could not get it to work - so it was useless

Awesome. I love that the app adjusts to the users level. Options to edit word lists are great too.

Good idea?. We just got it tonight and while going through the first time the voice sometimes says nothing. Also every other time the words are missing and you have to click randomly on the page. It still accepts the answer. Then there’s the times it says nothing and there’s only one word on the page so you just guess until the check mark shows up. Very odd and disappointing.

Only one flaw I could find. Excellent app. I like the customizability, and the ability to use your own voice. Since the sight words my child's school uses are not the Dolce words, but the Houghton Mifflin word list, I can adapt it to the words my child needs to learn. However, the makers of the app were not far sighted enough to realize the time consuming requirement it takes to make a physical image for each and every word in a separate program, photograph it to bring it into the app (with a problem of the app freezing up every time you capture the image with the camera... with every word image captured). It would have been so much simpler to type in the words as text rather than require a jpeg image for each word in the list.

Improve for data collection. I really enjoy this app. and so do my students. I love all the features, however, I would like to request you add a data collection feature that would let me know which words are not being recognized by my students or what words they are doing well with. I would also like to see a feature that ends the task maybe being able to set limits to do 10 or 20 etc... My students are waiting for an end to complete the task. Yes the constant praise does get redundant. Besides this I love the alphabet app as well but again I would like to see a data collection and limit features add. Thanks for the consideration.

Work around for custom items. Love this app. My 2 year old loves it too. She can read a good handful of words. To add custom words, with a picture do the following: add description, record the word in your voice. Then, select take new picture. Take a photo of the 'thing' or the word written on a piece of paper (or your computer screen in a large font). Now, here is where the work around comes in. Select USE. The app appears to freeze. Then Exit out. Select the app again. It should be on your photo. Select RETAKE, then select CANCEL. You will then be on the add word screen and your photo should be inserted. Select SAVE. viola! Only takes a bit more time, and it is working great. Hopefully, they will work the kinks out.

No sound. No sound at all. I did delete and upload again and had the same issue.

App keeps crashing. This app would be great for custom sight words if it didn’t continue to crash every time it opens so we can’t even play. Tried emailing support but email keeps getting kicked back. Please fix.

Sound?. Volume set to the max but the sound was so soft that it was barely audible, which, at least in my chaotically loud house, makes this app useless! I was really excited about using it too because other than that it’s the perfect app for learning sight words but you can’t play if you can’t hear the prompts.

Great app minus the little I. Great app. The review by the teacher made me investigate. I went to customization. I edited the I app. There our capitalization options or you can manually type it as uppercase. I set it to as written because I wanted the rest to appear in lowercase under most circumstances. Very happy with this app. Also you have to understand the in settings you can create your own lists then if you only want your lists to run you have to turn off the other lists. It will run more than one list at a time. I find this sight word app as the best I have found as far as customization and parent control. I love that I can turn words off without deleting them. Most of the bad reviews are operator malfunctions. Sorry to say! This is a great aid in our homeschooling environment. Would be great in schools and for parents assisting in their child's education. Thanks for creating an app that meets the consumer's needs.

Trying to customize. I just want to create and customize sight word lists! No response from customer service. Hours wasted trying to do this.

Recording Malfunction :(. This app is great! The only issue I have with it is that the record feature (to add new words or to create your own list) does not work! Which is really frustrating because I have words I'd like to add. The only other thing is that I wish there was a point system, so then my child knew how many she got right and how many she got wrong. Otherwise this is a great app!!!

Think I’m going to love it!!. I have a four year old Preschool student, and they are working on 1st grade sight words. I am having trouble getting my son to learn and remember them each week. I’ve tried everything!!! I think I’m going to love this because I can customize the words that he can practice each week. Since my kid is IPhone savvy, I think he will enjoy this app to learn his words better than mommy drilling him with flash cards everyday. Hopefully this works!!! Yikes!

Love this app. I love this app because you can program only the words you wan to concentrate on or use all the words at any level. You can program it to show any level. You can record any words that you are working on. I use a lot of different sight word apps and this one is the best. I would highly recommend it!

No sound?!. There is no sound. Only words.

Three touch tap. To get to the setting, the three touch tap does not work most of the time. I have downloaded other apps by the same creator and am having the same issue. Please fix!! I love the app other than that. But if I can’t change the settings, I can’t use it.

Great app for ASD kids. This is an awesome sight words app for my kindie. One of my fav things about it is that it randomized the words. My son like to memorize lists and lists of words in order are too easy for him--plus he's not really learning the individual words, but the lists. With this app it forces him to remember random words which is awesome. I would gladly pay for this app if the would add a master word list (I'm having to pull words from both preschool and kindie lists which is a hassle) and if they would allow custom word creation that also creates a visual of that word. For instance, my don has 'dog' as a sight word. That word isn't on any lists on this app. I had to take a picture of my computer monitor showing 'dog' to make it look like the other words. Other than that, awesome job guys!!

Love it, BUT.... I love all of the apps like this and have been using them for years, however, the customize your items feature has been very "glitchy" lately. It is difficult to record audio for new items and, when it records, it doesn't hold the recording to be used when playing the game. If this could be fixed, you would be right back up at 5 stars.

Reliving old memories. So I have autism and had a little bit of a hard time learning as a child. Not too hard but I struggled in some areas. This really helped me learn when I was younger. I’m now a teenager but this game reminded me how far I’ve come. I’m so blessed this game existed In my childhood. Thank you! <3

Would LOVE but..... I just spent WAY too much time customizing a list for daughter and now the app will not open (opens/closes out) if I have that list selected - super bummed!

Huh?. Can not hear the words even when the volume is turned all the way up.

Constant over-the-top praise is annoying. I like the app except for the constant overboard praise after each word is successfully chosen. I'm using it for a student of mine who has Autism. He chose two incorrect answers before he got the correct one. The voice response was a bubbly, "You're GREAT!" He thinks so literally, and asked, "Am I great for getting the answer wrong twice?". A subtle signal like a bell, or whistle would be much less distracting, and more realistic. Cheering, compliments, etc. would be more appropriate at the end of the list, but ONLY if a minimum of 70% of the words are correctly chosen the first time. Please stop building up a false sense of accomplishment with this app. Kids need to know when they're wrong and need to re-think their choices. They will not break, they will learn! I'll re-visit it in a few weeks and see if anything has changed. Until it does, other apps will get my attention for sight word practice.

Can’t access settings or info on the app. Can’t access the settings or info on the app as the parental code of pressing 3 fingers doesn’t work. Shame really as I was looking forward to customising it to suit my child as the other reviews suggested.

Great app. I love using this app in my classroom, I love that I can customise the lists to my different children to suit their levels. I also love that I can add my own lists-and not only sight words, but photos, colours, numbers, and images to use for receptive language-Show me the one that (colour, function etc). It’s great that it is so customisable and easy to use. I do wish I had the option to not have to take the photo of a flash card when using it for sight words that aren’t in the lists- e.g. nouns, and that when I typed it in it would come up like the included lists. Hopefully this will be in a future update.

Excellent app for my developmentally delayed child. Bought this app about a year ago and thought it could use a bit more custom ability - and you've done it. Now I can create my own categories and delete the default ones. My daughter is developmentally delayed and just starting to get words out. Your app aids in her starting to verbalize words - she's actually repeating the words as they are spoken.

Yet another “no sound” review. So has this app truly not been updated in about 4 years? iOS has changed so much in that time - no wonder a) recording your own speech to accompany word lists you create (as in create from your child’s classroom work) doesn’t work, b) the handy dandy “reset audio” button does nothing, and c) answering yes to “the app would like access to the microphone” doesn’t enable recording. I’ve written to the support email address a number of times over the past few months, and gotten no reply. DOES THIS DEVELOPER REALLY EXIST ANYMORE? Perhaps Apple should contact them and find out if they should still be allowed to offer this app any longer? Very annoyed.

Great.. I have twin three year old sons and we used this to help develop their skills at reading sight words. It is great seeing their faces when we read together and they can read some of the words they learned from this program in their favorite books.

Amazing!!!!!!. This app is so wonderful!! I have twin girls who just got done with kindergarten and they had sight word flash cards at school so this is really great practice. The interface is really nice and you can select how many words you want shown so it can be harder or easier and they love that we can record the sounds! Plus its great that they have diff words for diff grades! Great job guys!

We Soooo Love This App!. My 4-year old daughter and my three nieces who range in age from 6, 4 and 3 love this app! They sit and play this game together for hours! My daughter loves when she can record her own voice when we enter new words! Hearing her own voice just tickles her pink! We sooo love this app!

Great app. I work with a boy with autism and this app has worked great for some sight words and preposition cards using images. The only feature I wish it had was to display what is in the typed field when no image is applied to the card. I don't always need pictures and sometimes just want the text to display on the cards when they pop up.

Teacher. Love the app but noticed that as and ask are reversed on the first grade list. Also it would be great if instead of deleting words you didn't want included they could be on a toggle instead.

Awesome. Now I can work on my daughters Criminal sight words (words that cant be sounded out) and she doesn't know she is actually working! Great App! Tried others and this one is the best! So far! :) just wish there was a progress report along with it.

Finally!. This is the ONLY sight word app that will let you turn words off and on without deleting them from the list. This is perfect for practicing only the words they have learned and turning them on as you learn them. I have been searching for this feature in every sight word app with no luck until now.

Is there way set end to game or keep score?. My grand daughter likes games that have an obvious end. This seems to go on until player decides to end it. She also likes a score of some type to keep her motivated. Did I miss something in settings?

Sight words by photo touch. Love that this app is totally customizable!!!! My child loves to hear my voice and being able to record myself saying the sight words is awesome!!!

Fun and educational. I love that I can record my own voice. My 4-year-old son was prouder than a peacock when he heard me saying "great job!" through the phone. So funny! A little buggy but not bad.

Sped teacher review. I teach children with a diagnosis of autism ages 4-10 and am also on an autism team that helps provide a medical diagnosis. This is great software, easy to customize and very user friendly! Great product!

Love it. I love that the sight words are divided by level and you can turn hints off to test students . Simple and to the point!

Love it!. I love this app! I have to customize words in certain colors and fonts for my child's disability, so it's easy to customize that way. The only complaint I have is the "reset app" at the top of the screen. It has been pushed a few times and each time I have to do it all over again. 2.5 yr old son loves it!. My 2.5 yr old has already started learning words with this app. While reading stories at night, he is starting to pick out the words that he has learned. He also loves the customized success sounds that I have recorded for him that us his name.

Great for testing sight words. I'm sure if I thought hard enough I could think of a way to make it better but after doing a quick exploration we very much like it. You can customize words, change the level and make your own.

Love it!. My 2 year old was diagnosed with Autism 5 months ago. He's been spelling 3 letter words since he was about 18 months old. At 10 months old, he knew the alphabet & numbers 1-10. With the obsession with the alphabet, he loves apps like this one so he can see the letters & hear them. It makes me happy to see him happy. Thank you for developing this app.

Great. You can customize everything and cannot beat the price. Would be nice if the typed in word displayed, but easy enough to take a picture of the word on my sons learning sheet and then crop the picture inside the app. Great for my younger son as well we can simply add pictures instead of words and then go back in later to swap pictures of things for written words. Very flexible and could even be used for foreign languages. Again very flexible app and free. One of the best and most polished free apps I have used.

Love it. I really like this app! Very helpful but just needs more of a selection of words. My daughter is learning words really well, words she wouldn't normally recognize in a book.

Great!. Great practice for my kindergarten students even though it says Preschool list. Guess the levels are off. The words of praise were distracting so I turned all but "yes" off. Would be nice if there was just a success chime or sound instead of words. Would be great to track progress with a timer and # correct score, so student can be motivated by their successes. amazing!. tried this just now, i can't wait to show it to my daughter tomorrow. i've been looking for something like this that a child can learn by trying to do phonics to spell a word. You can also add words that your child encounters everyday! it doesn't hurt that it's free! thank you!

Good App. I like this app. But it needs a static or ranking system. I can not tell what words my child may be missing. Also a timer would help. I found two mistakes so far, my kids only played for a few minutes. The word ask was pronounced as and her was pronounced per. I also recorded a word and typed it in, but the word won't display. However. The sound is crystal clear make a wire link necklaceand like the record option. Also beautifully with done.

Very Good. This app has nice levels, many grades. I like the ability to have the hint at the top. But when that is off and the word is to or for or too or two or four any one of those should be correct since the child should know each of these and can't read the app's mind.

Good app but freezes when customizing. I like the app but when we tried to customize it with our own pictures it would freeze. I had a hard time getting out of it when it .froze. Once that is fixed then I think it will be a great app. Also when we chose to use exsisting image it took us out of the app instead of taking us to like the photo album. The concept is great just needs some tweaking to make it better. :-)

Excellent app!. My 3 yr old and I love this app. She especially enjoys the positive feed-back. I wish it had more levels as she has mastered the third grade, but I love that I can customize it to add more words. All in all a good buy!

Could have been awesome!. When I added my child's school sight words it recorded my voice but the only words that showed up were words original to the app. My voice was heard but the new words couldn't be seen. This app would get 5 stars if that function actually worked! I found another app called "sight words" by alligatorapps that is almost identical that actually works!

Awsome! and its free!. This is the best 'sight word' app I've used thus far and customizable.. Its the only educational app that my 3 yr old have played beyond 20 seconds. Unfortunately after about one minute he realize he's doing sight words and stops. I wish there were more 'hook' or enticments... none the less, it deserves a 5.

Perfect practice. I use this regularly in my classroom. It's one more way for my students to get a little more sight word practice time.

Love. I love this app and find it very effective! I have been using it for a week, and my kindergartener has picked up his sight word knowledge. As a parent and a teacher, I recommend this app to others.

Good App. My preschool daughter like this app. She is getting most cards right by using the initial letter sound, which is okay. Sometimes though, she gets confused and clicks all the cards until she gets the reward sound. I wish the app had a way to notice the child is doing this, perhaps not giving a reward sound after the second incorrect card is touched or giving different level of reward sounds. Kids have an innate ability to game the game, avoiding the hoped for educational value.

Back to the drawing board. Works okay but I'm only giving 2 stars because when children have site words at school you need to add custom words. This app will let you do just that and with your own voice which is nice. However your word never shows up in the list. I added the word "around" and added my voice to it to try it and my voice came on as I recorded it but the word "around" was not an option. Fix this and I will change this to 5 stars.

Repetition is the key. Like this app very much, but my Son gets into it only for a few minutes. But than again that's all a kid needs, a few minutes every day. Repetition is the key.

Awesome app!. We got this app for our grandkids. It's easy to use and has wonderful personalization options. We love that we can add family pictures and names. One great measure for any learning toll is that the child doesn't realize they're learning while having fun. We recommend this app!

Buggy and poor customer support. The ability to customize sounds made this app more exciting for my 5yo. He enjoys the challenge of the sight words and hearing voices of cherished aunts and uncles. But when I tried to create a customized list based on his school list, the screen appeared blank for each of the words I added. When I emailed the developer they just offered to sell me a different "great app."

Great idea - needs improvement. This is a clean, simple sight word practice program for novice readers. It needs a kid friendly tutorial and more kid friendly buttons, especially when a child wants to hear a word again. Glitch alert - homophones can appear on the screen, for example "to" and "two", and only one is accepted as correct. This can confuse kids and work against their learning.

Great simple app. I got so excited when I found this app. It was exactly what I was hoping for. It's simple, clean, and fun. My only complaint is sometimes "two" and "to" are on the same page.

FAB app!. This may appear easy, it isn't and it gets harder as you proceed. As a teacher it is a wonderful option for individual students to practice sight words with their iPad and earbuds, normally in order to practice the teacher would need to hear the mistakes spoken....this app speaks the word and children must find the matching word amongst several or many words. Ideal for individual practice of words most often found words in reading material.
