HP 15c Calculator Comments & Reviews 2026
The Original Engineering Calculator. HP created an actual emulator of the ROM of the original HP-15C. Therefore, guaranteed to be faithful emulation of the original! As is the case with the other HP Voyager series calculators. Excellent! My only wish is that HP would release the HP-16C computer scientist calculator as well so I can complete my collection!
Request for Function: Copy & Paste. Love the calculator—it takes me back to my engineering school days. My one gripe is that there does not seem to be a way to copy a result for use in another program. That makes this difficult to use this with all the other programs on the iPhone/iPad. Implement at least a copy function and I’ll give it 5 stars.
The advertisment for this app is misleading. I downloaded and was charged for the iPad version of this app. I need a scientific calculator. The version for the iPad lacks trig and other scientific functions. I wouln NOT have wasted my time and money on this product, if it had been obvious that the iPad version did not include trig functions. This application is worse than useless. There are many free calculators, if all I wanted was to do arithmetic. I would rate it less than zero, if this were possible You should be ashamed for selling such a poor product
Data Scientist. We need an iOS compatible upgrades from HP soon!! I've used HP calculators most of my life, since my first HP67 in 1980. I still have it. I have many others: 34C, 11C, 12C, 15C, 41CV, 48GX. No other calculator type, has ever surpassed the HP family. EVER. I prefer to use the real ones only occasionally now, because there are no more replacement parts. However, The emulators for the iPhone are so nice to have and I use them regularly, and they're all in my pocket on the iPhone 6s+. Phone size is about the actual size of the real machines too. I love em. HP needs to update the 12 and 15 soon though. Apple says they are not compatible with future versions of iOS. Other developers are keeping up with their HP emulators, some of which are very nice. I think HP would have a profitable business unit if they took seriously bringing these great little computing machines back to life in the whole family of reasonably priced emulators. However, for now, is be grateful if they would just ensure their existing emulators are compatible with future iOS versions. Kindest Regards,
Great app. Love it. Can’t find the real thing at a reasonable price so this is a welcome stand-in. Five stars for you! I just discovered a bug this morning, though. The inverse trig functions ignore the degrees/radians/grads setting and always return an answer in radians.
OK app. But pricey. Needs polishing.. UPDATE: HP update this app for screen size and key size! With new iPhones released with larger screens, it is possible to have a calculator app that is practical to use with accurate key entry. However, this app is still small on the larger (iPhone X) screens. Live up to your reputation and don’t let this app tarnish these great calculators. HP has fixed the obnoxious click of the buttons. I'm still waiting for HP to fix this app and it will become my first choice calc. for now its in a folder on page 7. It seems like the "target" area for the buttons (iPhone) is a bit small. I miss the buttons with this app more often than with others calculator apps. It's very close to being great, but these small items keep me from wanting to use it. I can't afford mistakes from missing buttons in my job. Having invested $15, I hope HP is responsive and fixes these items. Until then I have a better, less expensive 48sx emulator with bigger buttons and a viewable stack.
Quality app - great graphics. I found this app to be wonderful. At first I was frustrated with it as it would not switch to landscape mode which is were most of the functions become available. Found I had to switch off rotation lock to get the app to work in landscape mode! Love the look of this app, great quality graphics! And I love RPN calculators. Expensive app, but then all HP products are expensive.
App no longer has large enough characters after last update. Paid $45 each for HP15C and HP12 apps in the store (!). Last update made numeric characters and icons on my iPhone XR far smaller difficult to use in HP15C app, both simplified and full versions. HP 12C still OK. Called HP support, tried the web support page used for my other HP equipment purchases, got someone in handheld calculators who sent my message into the bit bucket, 2 months later, several reinstalls, not fixed. it appears the apps are orphans in the giant HP system. Too bad. I have an antique irreplaceable real HP15C which eats batteries which I don’t wish to destroy. Hopefully someone at HP or Apple flags bad reviews, sends a smoke signal to HP who will take action.
Numerals are not located correctly V2.3.2. In portrait mode, the numerals that are displaying are showing up about 40% in and other 60% outside the “LCD” display window, on the metal frame. This bug just arrived with Version 2.3.2 running on an XR and iOS 13.3. It is just the numerals that are not located properly, the “hardware” looks OEM. In landscape mode, the white Apple line across the bottom to drag up to switch apps is now persistent and in the way of the STO, RCL, ENTER and 0 keys. In landscape mode, the numerals are smaller than they have been and are supposed to be.
To use on iOS 12, delete & Reinstall. Updated to iOS 12 and it stopped working. I deleted it and powered down iPhone. Restarted and re-installed and it works again.
Love my 15C. Great app! Best emulation of the 15C I have found. A little overpriced, but to those of us who have grown up with the finest calculator ever made (in my opinion), it is worth it. An update is overdue that would allow turning off the key click within the app. I know the ringer switch does silence the app, but I find it a nuisance to have to switch it on and off every time I use the calculator. Also would be nice to take advantage of the additional real estate offered by the iPhone 5.
HP 15c. Great reproduction of the classic! Works great in the iPhone 6. I'm an electrical engineer who still depends on my 15c. Main complaint is the very loud clicks for the buttons which is very annoying, especially since there is no way to disable or lower its volume from within the ap. Turning off the ringer on the side of the iPhone to disable sound works but is unacceptable. Hopefully HP will fix this soon - especially if enough of us complain. However, the calculating capabilities work exactly as the original.
Thanks for the 64 bit update. This is my go-to calculator app on my iPhone and iPad. I was expecting to have to find something else once I realized it didn’t work on the late beta software. At home I grab my hardware 15C for most things, this is the next best option. Thanks for updating it!
Hp15C. This is a great app for one of the best calculators ever made. Pricey for an app but cheap compared to buying on of the real things. Many are complaining about the clicking of the keys and rightfully so. However, just go into the iphone Settings, scroll down to the HP15C program and there is a setting to turn this off.
Pretty, powerful, some bugs. This is a full-featured and good looking emulation of my original and beloved HP 15C Scientific RPN calculator (I still use a Limited Edition version today). That said, it’s a little buggy in annoying but harmless ways. For example, in portrait mode, the displayed numbers aren’t actually positioned in the display (on both iPad and iPhone). And results from running or numerically integrating a programmer function leave the displayed numbers in a flashing state.
A classic. Update: It's been almost two years since this app was last updated. It still doesn't make use of the larger iPhone 5 screen. The bug that causes the display to flash after running a program or using the combinations/permutations functions still hasn't been fixed. And, there's still no way to control the key click volume independently. It's a shame that HP seems to have abandoned this app... -- It's great to have an authentic HP 15C on my iPhone. I've been a fan of HP's RPN calculators for years, starting with the trusty HP 25 that got me through college. The built-in manual and alternate portrait layout are nice additions. One bug: After using either the combinations (Cy,x) or permutations (Py,x) statistical functions, the display flashes continuously until some other key is pressed (on my iPhone 4S running iOS 5.1, anyway). Also, as others have noted, the key click sound is annoying to the point where I've muted it entirely. It would be nice to have a choice of sounds or the ability to control the volume separately.
Not iOS compatible. Love the calculator, but HP has not (and appears will not) update the app for iOS compatibility. Very, very disappointing in that it's an outstanding calculator and app to begin with. This speaks volumes about HP and their "concern" for their customers and clients. "Come spend your hard earned money with us, and we'll dump you the first chance we get." They say it's the little things in life that make a big difference. After this lack of concern for their customers I'm completely disinclined to purchase any HP products going forward. If I were in product development at HP I'd be massively embarrassed. Shame on you.
Fix this please. This is a horrible mess. I am stunned that HP, a company long known for quality hardware, would let this appear on the App Store. When subroutines finish executing the contents of the x register flash endlessly on the display. The only way to make it stop is to press some key which of course changes the contents of the x register and pops the stack! For a while, pressing the function key f then prefix would lock up the calculator, displaying the mantissa, instead of timing out after one second and returning to a normal display. Now it’s ok. So that’s going to be an intermittent bug. But come on, people. Just fix the flashing subroutine result problem. Where do I go to get my $15 back?. Retro 15C works just fine and it’s free.
Display flashes?. Now that the calculator division is under “new management”, could we please get an update to stop the display flashing? Write a simple program. Run it. Display flashes. Even just pressing R/S. This is not how a real HP 15C works. 15C is still an amazing calculator, just wish implementation on iOS was done a little better, a little more care taken, especially by the company that designed and produced it.
I love It July 2015. I put the date I purchased it here since I know there must be a lot of versions. I have tried every RPN calculator out there. I like this one the best. The horizontal is a perfect rendition of the classic calculator. In Vertical the choices were made perfectly. A reciprocal key and a square root key are the only functions. Both of these are handy for quick calculations I make in vertical mode. Also the keyboard area is not cluttered with ads or even settings. To change the FIX for digits you must go horizontal. The elegance and simplicity are ideal.
Needs software update.. I recently received a message that this version of the app will not be supported on future iOS releases. I hope HP will continue to support it and come out with an update soon. I'm currently using iOS 10.3. It's a great calculator otherwise.
Needs an update for iPhone 5. The landscape mode on iPhone 5 does not use all screen real estate. The title bar with time and so on is unnecessary and takes up valuable space. The screen also does not use all the iPhone 5s space leaving two black bars on the side. Another waste. Needs an update to make it a real FULL SCREEN APP on iPhone 5.
This Is How You Do It Right. The HP 15C app gets it. No bloat. No redesign for the sake of trend-chasing. Just the original layout, faithfully reproduced, working exactly as you’d expect. This isn’t just nostalgia—it’s utility. The horizontal mode gives you that classic hardware feel. The vertical layout? Focused and distraction-free. Together, they make this app a joy to use for anyone who actually knows what they’re doing. Some people left low ratings. Honestly? That says more about them than the app. If you need a manual to know why this is great, it probably wasn’t made for you. To the developers: thank you for not fixing what wasn’t broken. You built a tool that respects the past and still performs in the present. That’s rare. Five stars. No hesitation.
Now virtually perfect. The key-click control actually has to be changed in your phone's Settings menu , not from within the app itself; that's fine. At least the horrible key clicks can now be turned off. The slight tweaks to the look are good. I'm glad to has CLR X on the portrait-mode keyboard; I would have preferred BSP, but CLR X is ok. Now, this app is just excellent. This is an essential app for me.
Five stars for retro look, 3 for value. Like the RPN fan that I am, I bought this. I don't regret it but it really is overpriced. I feel like I paid $10 for the calculator and $5 for the pretty graphics. But that is not a complaint. You may wish to also consider PCalc and other great RPN calculators on the App Store but be sure they are programmable if you need that.
Works well on iPadOS 13.1.2. With so many recent negative reviews related to iOS 13, I’ve never tried on 13 until this holiday season (December 2019). HP did not update the version number nor the date but just for the record, this app actually works well on iPhone iOS 13 and iPad iPadOS 13.1.2 Excellent job HP calc, as usual. Very happy holidays! p.s. This app runs blazing fast if you happen to have an original HP-15C to compare with :-)
Very Nice!. Seems to emulate 15C functions perfectly, but I have not yet checked out programming capabilities. For those that find the key clicking annoying, it can be disabled by going into your iDevice settings, scroll down until you see "15C", and the first option is to enable/disable the key clicks.
Display Bug. I use this all the time. I have a physical 11C I’ve had a very long time. They are my favorite calculators. With version 2.3.2 in the portrait (simple calculator) view on my iPhone 11 Pro Max the numbers do not appear in the display window but rather lower and to the right.
Now for iOS 11. Thus now works on iOS 11. Don't be scared off by old reviews. HP has finally updated the app to work on current devices (circa 2017). It works great - just like my old 15C from my college days. If you like to use RPN logic - buy this app.
HP 15C Limited Edition. After installing app I was surprised that there was no trig or programming but the calculator switches to all features mode when rotated from portrait to landscape. The manual displays nicely too. I was puzzled by limited edition and discovered HP has reissued the 15C hardware recently and is available for ordering as of June 2012.
Numbers are not in calculator display window. I just upgraded to the iPhone 12 Pro Max with iOS 14.2. The numbers now show up below the calculator display window. This problem did not happen with the iPhone 11 Pro Max running the same iOS. Otherwise the calculator appears to be working normally. Please fix this bug.
Fails to copy and paste. Those absolutely isolated the HP calculators from everything. Why can’t we copy and paste to and from their digital calculators? Maybe it can and I am just ignorant as to how? I’m a HO-41c users from forty years ago and it is still my favorite! It is so fast! But try getting the result from the calculator to anything else and you are stuck!
Screen issues. I've used this app for years and years. The latest version, combined with the latest iPhone update shows the screen entries off center from the calculator screen when in the vertical mode. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this??.
Very Disappointing, waste of my money. I had purchased the earlier version of the app but they stopped supporting it so I had to pay for it again to download it to my iPad Air. It was expensive enough the first time and to pay for it again was such an unfortunate waste. I had hoped they had improved upon it, most critically adding cut and paste support. Unfortunately no, they had only reissued it due to a digital signature snafu with Apple that caused my version to be obsolete. In fact they had hardly changed the app at all, mostly just to add the phrase "Limited Edition" to the app. Very disappointing.
Thanks for the 64-bit update! Awesome!. Thanks for updating this app To support 64-bit HP!! I actually deleted it on Tuesday after updating to iOS 11 as it was no Longer working. But now that it is again, it’s back on my iPhone! Simply the best RPN calculator!
Don't let my iPhone 15C die!. Apple has been informing me "This app will not work with future versions of iOS." please update the app. I'm not ready to give up RPN, but I'm also not ready to carry my 15C with me as a separate device. 5 star rating applies only until I lose my app.
Much improved version. Works on the new IOS 11, and the key stroke-to-sound latency issue on the old app is fixed. For those like me who can’t use any other calculator, it’s worth springing for!
My fave calculator!. Thank you for bringing back my fave calculator from the 32-bit grave!! I still have the hardware model from the 80’s that I continue to use (just get new batteries every 10 years or so), but I love having this one on my iPad and phone. Much appreciated!!!
Need a way to remove shadow effect from display. Love the app, just as I love my (still working) real HP15c. But there should be a way to remove the "shadows" from the numerical display in the app. In the real world, the shadow is a real 3D effect, and can be controlled by moving the calc with respect to ones eyes or the light source. Obviously this is not possible with the app, and to me just results in lowering the legibility of the display. There should be an option to turn off the shadowing.
Perfect! v2.0.1. I don't have the key click sound issue reported by other user (my device is iPhone 4, iOS 5.1). Settings work perfectly, turning sound on and off as it should be. The version number is wrong as usernickname mentions, still showing v1.1 in about. The manual is working now, but it could be better if we had a search tool to locate subjects through a key word as we can do by reading in pdf files. Despite those points I mentioned above, for me the app as is deserves the 5 stars. I have an old real 11C calculator that has more than 30 years old, still working fine, and my only complaint was that it could not be with me all the time. Now, this problem was solved with this 15C version in my iPhone and I am very happy. Thank you so much!
HP-15C Limited Functionality. After Apple did the last upgrade to my iPhone5, the HP-15C no longer will change from a limited display of features to a full display when my iPhone is rotated 90 degrees. I have reloaded the app several times without success in obtaining the full functionality. Several friends have experienced the same loss of functionality - how do I obtain full functionality?
HP calculator enthusiast. This is a superb emulation of the original Hewlett-Packard HP 15C calculator. I should know. I had an HP 15C when it was new. It took me through physics and calculus in college and the start of my engineering career. Regretfully a trip though the washer and dryer in the pocket of a jacket killed that calculator. I have bought and used other calculators but the 15C has always remained my favorite. When I saw this app, and it was made by Hewlett-Packard, I did not hesitate to purchase it. Reports the the app does not work with the latest iOS are out of date. Hewlett-Packard updated the app and it works flawlessly. As of this review I am using iOS 12.1.4.
Almost as good as the real thing. Still my favorite calculator of all time--since freshman year in 1985, anyway, and my 15c stills work perfectly. But this app is the next best thing, for when I'm not in my office. One star off for the $15 price though. (To the people complaining about the clicking, go to the iPad/iPhone settings and there is a preference for the 15c where you can turn off the clicks, set rotation lock, etc.)
Nice to have. I’ve always liked this series of calculator. This one duplicates all the functions of the original. A plus is that as it’s on my phone, it’s always with me. A minus is that on my phone, an iPhone X, the keys are somewhat smaller than the original, and as it’s a touchscreen, it’s easier to accidentally hit the adjacent key, than on the original HP calculator. All-in-all, a very worthwhile tool to have.
64 bit HP 15C!!. Thank goodness it’s here! The app is awesome. The original calculator is the awesome progenitor (I still have it from the early eighties and I love it: it continues to work.) It is the best scientific hand calculator ever made and the app is true to the originals functionality and works great on the iPhone!
Can't turn off button sound. This version is an improvement! The keyboard is correct, and the manual works, but you still can't mute the incredibly loud button sounds. This makes it difficult to use in meeting, and frankly gets annoying with prolonged use at any time. Come on, HP fix this issue get 2 more stars!!
Perfect now!. Thanks, HP, for fixing the two issues another user reported! This is fantastic! My actual 15C I use almost every day, despite it being almost 30 years old. This app brings a smile to my face every time I open it.
App is true to the original, latest update caused display issues. I don’t know whether it’s related to an iOS update, the latest (2.3.2) app update, or a setting on my phone (iPhone 11, 13.3.1), but the font size has been reduced on both the landscape and portrait views and the display numerals’ location has been moved out of the display area on the portrait view. Please update the app or advise potential causes and solutions to this problem. Thank you!
The best one. I've tried several of these by different developers. This is by far the best one. It works exactly like my 15c. Well worth the money. I'm using it on an iPhone 6 Plus. The graphics are beautiful. I turned off the clicking sound.
Excellent!. Great to have an HP 15C again. I've been really bummed since my original calculator crashed. The layout is perfect on the iPad and the "keys" are perfect for large hands. Note: you have to hold the iPad in landscape orientation to get the full 15C layout shown on the left above (with trig functions, etc.). If the iPad is held in the portrait orientation, you only get the basic arithmetic operations (shown above on the right). It's not immediately obvious at first how to switch the visual modes.

HP 15C. I had spoken with Apple, who in turn asked me to ring the Developer. Spoke with HP Support, sent them images of the numbers not lining up with the display window, was told that they were aware of the problem, but it was up to the Developer to make the fix. That was almost a year ago, and still it has not been fixed. Paid for the app, would expect bugs to be fixed as required. Apple should remove this app from the app store.
Update please ASAP. Great calculator and HP charged a lot for this. BUT please update it HP so it works with the next iOS
Just love this App. The HP 15C was the best calculator of its time and this app allows it live on forever..... Thanks HP for maintaining the app.
Back up to date. A few improvements over the older version, not least of which is the quieter key click sounds. I was dreading the thought of losing the 15c, I can upgrade to iOS 11, now.
Not as advertised - limited functionality. False advertising, does not have functionality supposedly paid for. Very disappointed, can you return apps and get money back?
HP 15C. Developer did a bug fix 3 weeks ago and didn’t bother holding the iPhone in portrait orientation to observe numbers don’t line up with display. Terrible QA. The developer web site (HP) on the AppStore gives an Oops .. page not found. Another QA master stroke.
Good app. Needs tweaking.. The app is good though a little bit pricey when considering that there are far more powerful calculator apps that are less expensive. (HP is preying on the sentimental engineer who misses their HP15C) The following improvements will be appreciated: 1) Expand options behind the "Menu" icon to include the following: a) Link to App developer support. (How hard would that be?) b) A switch to turn off key press sound feedback so that the user doesn't annoy their co-workers or people trying to study in a library. c) Turn off the blinking after providing the calculated answer given after using a programmed set of functions. (The blinking answer keeps blinking at you and it annoys the blinking blinking out of the user)
Does not work. Originally worked on iphone 5 but i have upgraded to iphone xr and app does not run
Works well but could do with a bit more support. I’ve been using this app for at least 10 years and was happy to pay a higher price for it as it genuinely has the look of the older 11C/15C. It continues to work well but it could do with an occasional update to keep up with latest iOS releases. Recommended.
Ripped off!. Strongly object to having to pay for this app again, having paid a lot for the 32 bit version.
Update needed- and deserved, at this price. Good replica - but not yet upgraded for iPhone6 - nor even ios9. Main screen just a little too small on my phone, with borders in landscape- if it filled the whole screen it would be much more usable. Manual uses old style buttons, not iOS 9. I like it- but was not worth the $ I paid. Next time I'll try a 3rd party copy.
Sturdy and trustworthy. This is the best RPN calculator bar none. Yes, there have been copycats of the original 12c and 15c but they all try to improve upon something that is already perfect in my books. The only thing I miss is the feel of the original physical devices.
Awesome calculator app!. This is the only calculator app I turn to!
Great app, but desperately needs an update. The app works very well. The only reason I gave 2 stars instead of 5 is to send a message to the app developers to update the app. It will not be compatible with the next version of iOS!! Update: ok, now the app doesn't even work. 1 star. HP, can you please fix?!!
Needs updating - no longer works. I used this app daily until I upgraded my phone to iPhone 13 Pro and IOS 15 and now the app doesn’t work anymore. Won’t open, just reverts to the iPhone Home Screen.
Thanks for updating to 64 bit and iOS11. Much appreciated, would have missed using the HP 15c greatly.

We need this calculator updated!. I’ve been using HP scientific calculators for forty years. The only HP15 I trust is the version offered by HP, but they haven’t updated it for IOS11. When will loyal HP customers’ needs be addressed?
No Kachunk!!!!!!!!!. Why after updating did you get rid of the original key sound? If I wanted an iPhone tap sound I would download any calculator app for free! Please bring back the kchunk sound effect! Please!
More iPhone 11 issues.. Love this app. Used a 15-C getting 2 engineering degrees in my distant past. In addition to the display misalignments reported reported on the iPhone 11 by other users, with this latest update, the “flip” function no longer works when trying to return to landscape mode after pressing the “15-C” logo at top left.
Not updated for iOS 11. No 64 bit version -- current app does not work on iOS 11. No idea if it will be updated. (And no confidence as this has not seen any updates in years)
Please update for iOS 11!!!. Please update for iOS 11!!! I paid for this expecting it to be well supported. It works on my old 5C which is now, apparently, my calculator.
Abnormal for HP product. The digit are not in they’re place on the screen of the iPhone X plus
Programming problems. Entered 122 lines into programming triangle solutions to find that f ISG looping will not program. No SN or Product Number for the App so no access to technical or product support assistance. Pay your money and no support to back it up. Loved my 11c & 15c, for more than 25 years, buy an app and... Well times have changed. Additionally, repeated attempts to report the problem through iTunes Store have failed. Will not accept a report of a problem but will be happy to accept a review. HP sells apps for iPhones but their troubleshooting capability is tied to windows!!! Update: many months later... Nothing from HP. NO CHANGE, no progress, no fix, no attention, no regard for the quality of the product they took my money for. NEXT MESSAGE GOES TO APPLE. BOGUS PRODUCT.
64-bit Support. Finally added 64-bit support the day after iOS 11 came out! Thank you.
Great in landscape, buggy in portait. Great calculator direct from HP, all the same algorithms as the original and it includes the manual. The portrait version, which is a nice touch to include, could be a lot better though. On the iPhone XR the digits aren't in the display area at all.
Another Retired Old User. Has worked great through numerous versions of iOS now 15.1. Would love an upgrade to enable cutting and pasting for entering and saving numbers. Still have my old HP, used it with a pencil and paper. Now it would be better to cut and paste numbers to and from other programs. It’s a great calculator, could be better.
Rip off. It's not what is being represented none of the functions are even there.... It's so bad......
Best Calculator ever. Ive been using the 15C since the early ‘80’s. This app has been a welcomed addition. RPN is a habit and once mastered, you can’t use a normal calculator. Thanks for this app. Been using it for years now
All good on iOS 14.3. Have used 15C on iPhone 10 for over 2 Yrs, with no issues. Upgraded to 11pro with 14.3, so far no problems👍
Upgrade broke it.. The latest upgrade broke it, on my iPhone 11. The numbers are now out of place in both orientations. Please fix...!
Adsterra is the most preferred ad network for those looking for an alternative to AdSense. Adsterra is the ideal choice for new sites with low daily traffic. Great Emulator. Only issue I have so far is the key click sound.
That noise has to go!!. If it wasn't for the annoying clicking that you cannot turn off I would have given this app more stars. Come on HP, it can't be that hard to fix this!
Portrait mode display issue.. The portrait mode has a bug… the display is shifted so that numbers are shifted to the right it’s no aligned with the display window.
And now on iOS 11!. I am so glad that the HP 15C calculator app is now available on iOS 11. It's my favorite calculator app, and it's absolutely faithful to the original.
Need an update for iOS 13. I love this app but the latest update messed up the number display on the iPhone 11. Hopefully fixed soon. 5 stars when fixed!
New version moved lcd display on standard zoom. With iPhone 10 Xs, numerical display is not in correct position w.r.t. background graphic while display is set to standard zoom mode. It’s okay with display set to zoom. Positioning needs fixed. Has always been fine before.
Problem with display. Love the app, but recent updates have resulted in the numbers displaying out of position in portrait view
Thank you for updating. Love this app! It's the closest thing I've found to my dearly departed hardware 15C. Thank you for updating this app so it will continue to work in 64-bit mode!
Problems. Display flashes endlessly when giving a final result of a program, like others have written. You can stop the flashing by hitting ENTER. But this should get fixed by HP. It’s annoying and probably an easy update.
Display Flashes when Program Terminates. I’ve owned HP programmable calculators since 1981. I’m unable to get even the simplest program without having the display flashing when the program terminates. The program I’m using is: 000 f LBL A 001 R/S I run the program using the following two keystroke sequences: GTO A R/S and GSB A In both cases, the display flashes when the program terminates. Every program I enter does the same. I’m running the app on an iPhone SE. I really like the program but this flaw is very annoying.
Mediocre effort. This may have been best in class when it first came out, but it has been left far behind the pack. The screen layout has not been updated since the iPhone 4, meaning there is much wasted space on subsequent devices. At this price, the app is simply not worth it any more.
Buggy as hell. This is a disappointment, to be honest. The buttons are a but small, and it seems to have bugs. For example, enter a small program and run it. After executing, the display starts flashing. What the hell? Much like the actual 15c Special Edition, this needs work to get it working properly.
Great App. Sound vomment. For those complaining about the key click. If you flick the "no ringer" switch on your iPhone it goes away.
love the app, but…. upgraded on 5/5/21. the portrait (basic calc mode) on my 2020 iPad Air still has the numbers shifted up out of the display window. Looks good on my mini and iphone.
Please UPDATE NOW!!!. HP, please update your app. Just like my original "hard copy", I use this several times per day. Please update so we can continue to use in future iOS.
Back to five stars!. Thank you so much for the latest update. The display is finally back to normal!!!
Problems on the horizon. I _REALLY_ like this app but HP needs to create a build that is compatible with modern versions of iOS. I will be sending another note to HP but I am afraid this is "abandonware."
Disappointing for the price. Disappointed I couldn't get all the functions to work. Could not get it to store matrix variables in user mode. Key strokes were correct and work on my real HP 15c. After many try's I finally gave up.
It's been updated for iOS 11!. Changing my review from 1 star to 5 stars as the app has been updated for the latest iOS.
Please update to 64bit. I use this app almost daily and there is still no update for 64 bit! An update is mandatory for the next OS as this app will no longer function in its current state. For as much as this app cost, I think we should have an update!
Problems. Display flashes after program execution. Also sometimes hard to tell what key you've hit. Making the key 'light up' or magnify like text input on the iPhone would make life easier. The now-unavailable sci 15c app was less buggy and easier to use. I am glad my 'real' 15c and 15c LE are better than the app.
15C calculator BUG. As great as the original except fast. Minor thing. Appears to be a bug: after I run a programmed routine the X register blinks forever. Any key terminates the blinking. Q: why does the end of a routine always leaves the X reg blinking? A single function routine or normal 20 step routine ends with blinking X. Don’t know why. Previous v did not.
Losing stars because no support!. This review is all about the lack of support from HP. This app will expire with iOS 10! HP will join other also-rans, kicked to the ditch by progress. Get off your lazy butts, HP, and revise this app!
Why can’t my wife access her app. My wife has shared this app with me, all of a sudden it says this app is no longer shared with you. Why? Have used hp calculators forever.
Works well. Two feature requests: 1 Tturn LCD numeral shading off (or make it selectable) and 2. Please update to iPhone 5 screen size so buttons can be a little bigger.
Best 15C App in the store. I have had this app for many years, it is an excellent emulator of the original 16c. It also has the best rendering of the portrait mode version. My 1-star rating is only because I could not get an update for the app. I had to purchase it over again. Refund my purchase price (second one, for the 64 bit version), and I will happily change this to a 5-star review.
Bug introduced. The 24-Feb-2020 introduced a bug in the portrait mode 4-function display: the numbers appear down on the bezel not in the virtual LCD area. iPhone XS Max with current iOS.
Perfect. Key click sound problem is gone Very fast! Portrait mode is convenient.
Back to the Best!. Love the two rotating display versions. Used HP 15C for years--and now always with me again!
Portrait orientation not aligning properly on iPad Pro 11”. Love the app, but the numbers when using portrait orientation are not aligning with the graphics. Calculator works, but alignment is off.
A big thank you to HP for updating the app to 64 not iOS. This app remains the best implementation of the hp 15c and it also is free. This app now runs under the latest 2018 IOS.
V2.3.2 numerical display off location. I absolutely love this calculator but your most recent 2.3.2 update displays the numbers outside the box in portrait mode!
HP please update. Fantastic app . . . Just like the actual unit. However, we are going to loose access one iOS 11 is out. HP needs to update. Last update was 2012.
It simply needs an update.. I would give this app 5 stars if the folks at HP would simply UPDATE it! Seriously it can’t be that much work to fix the problems that keep creeping in with each new update of ios. Come on HP - take some pride in your work please and get on the ball here!
Trig function not working. I needed to compute an angle for some survey work yesterday, simple right angle trig. To my surprise the app returned garbage for the arc functions. I confirmed against a real HP 15C and other calculators and the results are meaningless. Please check this out and fix this major bug. Thanks Martin Update: I did further testing today and it appears the inverse trig functions return results in radians always regardless of the angle mode: degrees, radians, or grads. Should be a simple fix. This only occurs in complex mode. It works correctly when flag 8 is cleared. Perhaps this is by design.
Latest Version 2.3.2 Broken. On an 11 Pro Max, running 13.3.1, portrait mode does not even have the calculator display numbers fitting in the UI...they appear below the background display graphic and sit just about the top calculator keys! Ugh...how about a little Quality testing folks?! This is obvious on first launch for Pete’s sake!!!
Buggy and crashes when trying to program.. Had to RESET several times, and restart my iPhone twice.
Great App.... Love the app! Clicking noise is annoying. It would be great if future update would allow user to lower or turn off sound.
Numerals not centered in display window. Some time ago, an update (either iOS or HP, can’t remember) moved the numerical display on portrait mode out of position. It has yet to be fix and I’ve tried deleting and reinstalling the app to no avail. Otherwise, I love this app almost as much as I love my real 48GX!
Update needed. Trying to use my purchased calculator and it will not work with the IOS. Needs to be updated..
Upgrade as 64 bit. Apple just announced that iOS 11 will not support the HP 15c unless it is updated for 64 bit compatibility. It would be a shame if this calc app does not get updated. It is a great RPN calculator.
Needs updating to 64-bit. This app needs to be updated to 64-bit operation on the iPhone, or else it will fail to operate in future. Also, why did I have to pay $15 for V2, when I bought V1 for $30 many years ago?! These comments also apply to the HP 12C calculator app.
Newest release has a bug 2.3.2. This calculator is great but the latest revision has a bug. In portrait mode the numbers appear outside of the calculator display on my ipad pro. Please fix this. And please develop and offer a 48GX application.
This was working perfectly for me until the last update. Now the numbers overflow the display window in portrait mode and the keypad gets cropped off on the edges in landscape mode. I have a iPhone 4S.
Requires Update. Display is still not correct in “portrait “ mode. Update: New: the display numbers do not line up in the display properly Now I get a message that this app soon will not work in future iOS versions unless the app is updated. The developer website, HP, is of no help. I like this application, but my iPhone is generating a message that reads that the app can have a negative impact on the performance of the phone unless it is updated.
Great. My favourite calculator for my iPhone. Unlike many emulators, this reproduces the 15c precisely, even down to the bugs
Disappointing. I owned and operated an HP15c for 30 years. The real thing worked flawlessly. This attempt to emulate the 15c is disappointing. I use the programming mode a lot. This version does not understand GSB logic. I wish I could get my money back. It is a good RPN calculator, but not a programmable HP15c.
Display is now screwed up on XR. The previous version was better. LCD numerals are too small on XR. Also portrait mode does not work. Also freezes when you look at back of calculator.
Only One More Thing Haptics. If you enable Haptics for key press that would be awesome. I still have the one I bought in December 1982!
V2.3.2 creates bad graphics. Great app - I’ve been running it for over 4 yrs!! However the last update messed up the graphics - as the numbers are no longer shown in the register, just summarized at the bottom of the screen. It’s too bad - as the calculator seems to work fine - just a bad graphics patch somewhere. Please FIX!
