Mapper for Safari App Reviews

What I’ve been looking for!. This app does exactly what I’ve been looking for, in all this time I haven’t found a solution to this problem since I have had the iPhone and you did it! I’m loving the functionality and the seamless transition to the map app.

Simple and Effective. Works great - pops up with an open in Maps prompt when you hit directions in Google. It’s such a minor annoyance yet is totally worth it!

Works. Works as intended 99% of the time. For $0.99, I can’t complain. Occasionally, the link will open in Google Maps. If the extension doesn’t work immediately after installing, try restarting your phone.

Finally here. So I just wanted to say that I’m very grateful for all the education I’ve gotten from all of the great developers that work for Microsoft and all these other great development teams, including Apple and Google

Got it work but instructions were not what I experienced.. In the last instruction it says to allow when prompted but it never prompted. So I had to manually tap on the mapper extension to get it to work.

Perfect. It does the job just like it claims to. Opens up Apple Maps with the destination any time I open a Google Maps page from a link. Exactly what I needed as I don’t have Google Maps installed on my phone.

Loving it so far. Just downloaded and the first few tests, this works flawlessly. I wish I knew about it sooner! Totally worth $0.99 if you hate copy-pasting into Apple Maps. Thanks to the developer for shoring up an Apple weakness.

Works as advertised.. first neglected to set permissions to allow all websites under safari extensions. Once that was set, everything worked fine.

Super Useful. Does exactly what it says. Definitely worth the couple bucks if you’re trying to avoid google products.

The Best Extension. This is honesty the best Safari extension out there for anyone who uses Apple Maps. It has always been so frustrating clicking on the directions link only for it to redirect to Google Maps, having to copy and paste the address into Apple Maps instead. It just works, it makes your iOS device just a little more Apple like. After having used the extension, I’d be willing to pay much more than the 99 cents it costs. If you use Apple Maps, this is a must have extension!

Works for Safari but….. I wish he had the ability for it to work for all browsers including chrome

App seems buggy but off to good start. I’ve always disliked links that send me to Google Maps, so this is a great idea. I downloaded it to my iPhone and ipad. I had to turn off and on the settings several times, but for now, it’s mostly working. I’ve had a few links that open on Google Maps still instead of Apple Maps. Once the bugs are fixed, and developer figures out a way to get maps in Facebook (on Safari) to open on Apple Maps as well, I’ll come back and raise it to 5.

It’s actually useful.. Alright so i thought it was gonna be some trash app that wasn’t developed correct , but for .99 cents it does what it’s suppose too , like bro google maps is not it , but i use apple maps and i just hate how it redirects me to google maps but when i found this it was like life saver , cause it’s fast instead of typing the whole address you know? but it’s pretty worth it for .99 cents

Sort of works. My issue is that it doesn’t actually open the location in Apple Maps. It’ll open the ADDRESS of the location, not the business itself. It’s a minor inconvenience, but also sort of defeats the point. I want to be able to click on a Google link and have it open the details page of the link on Apple Maps, not just pinpoint the raw address. It works for Apple headquarters, but not anywhere else. It also seems like the dev has spotted supporting this app, only a minor update in 11 months…

The extension I didn’t know I needed. Wowwwww this app is so great I used to copy paste addresses into maps after a google search this is so much better allowing me to focus on driving when I need to navigate

Works Great. Apple Maps user as much as possible. Having Google Maps links open in Apple Maps is very pleasing. If you prefer Apple Maps, this extension is for you.

Great use of 99¢. Works great, makes using maps easier since I never liked google maps. Also, it’s supporting an independent developer which is great.

Thank Goodness!. Heard about this on Mac Power Users and went and downloaded it before they could finish describing it. This google maps thing has always driven me crazy. So this is so nice. I’ve been typing in addresses just to try it for like 3 minutes now. Lol. Thank you! Such a great extension

iOS/iPadOS 26. I’ve been using this app since its release on the App Store, and it worked flawlessly. As of the “26“ OS updates, it doesn’t seem to be fully working anymore: sometimes, it doesn’t trigger the Apple Maps connection alert, and – if it does link to Apple Maps – a pop-up states “cannot give directions to and from the same location”. hopefully, this is fixed soon.

works. redirecting navigation from the browser to the native Maps app seems like something really simple, but for a long time, apple has prioritized unnecessary little features and UI changes over simple stuff like this. i'm glad that this extension exists. thank you to the developer for making my job as family navigator a lot easier.

I’m a service technician and I use gps everyday and I have become more and more a Apple Maps user , I came over from a long time of using google maps. And I hate that every address that gets texted or emailed or googled is a google hyperlink . So this is well worth the cost

Makes Google usable again. Simple, effective, does everything it needs to. Setup was easy as well thanks to detailed instructions.

Simple idea but amazing results. I have wanted someone to come out with this app for 10+ years & someone finally did. Did I even see I can set it up to take me to Waze instead? Brilliant!

The most important thing about being able to be in the game is to have the right people around!. And the other thing is that you don’t want the other person to have a bad experience. You have a good sense of how to deal with the problem!

Useful extension. I like this extension a lot. The only problem I’m having is that links with coordinates don’t work. It opens Apple Maps but instead of showing the address at the respective coordinates, it shows an “undefined” place. Since Google Maps links with coordinates is what I primarily want to use this extension for, I can only give three stars.

Pretttyyy Swwweet!. Really smooth redirect. Doesn’t load multiple screens, just goes straight from google search listings to MAPS!! or Waze for that matter! Solves an INCREDIBLY frustrating issue for me as I can’t get google maps to load without launching the App Store then losing the link. ANYWAY! I’m so happy. Thanks team! You nailed it. Simple as possible anndddd SMOOTH!

FINALLY! A solution!!!. I searched & searched (and searched some more!) for a way to make Apple Maps the default app when I needed directions from a google search and there is absolutely NO WAY… until now!! This app fixed this problem that should have had a simple solution to it & has been driving me crazy! Thank you! Thank you!! Thank you!!!

Mapper seems pretty good. Had no problems & everything is spelled out so there’s no need for confusing lengthy printouts. Tells you what to do & even takes you to it . So far so good.

Doesn’t work for all applications. I just paid the 2.99 to have the ability of opening Apple Maps for directions while using google search engine. It continues opening addresses in google maps, both google search engine and gmail. It does work on some apps.

This perfectly solves the problem…. Google search results sometimes don’t even let you select the address… why didn’t it occur to me to do this myself? LOL… well, either way, this works, it’s simple and easy to get installed and set up (very minimal serup), and it works!

Stopped working. This extension stopped working with the release of iOS/ipados 26. It worked well before. It has been months now and no update has been issued. I can only surmise it has been abandoned. I’d definitely advise NOT downloading. Also of concern is the large and sudden influx of FAKE 5 star ‘reviews’. This definitely seems like the publishers attempt at duping unsuspecting people into buying a broken, defunct app. Highly suspect!

Exactly what I needed!. Fantastic to see that both on my iPhone and my Mac, I can search for places and click on directions or the map and actually get results in Apple Maps instead of having to use the website. Perfect!

Just what I needed!. My husband insists on using google maps. I strongly dislike it’s user interface and much prefer Apple Maps. This makes it super easy to find an address he sends me via text! Instantly redirects and opens in Apple Maps!

Finally. Honestly, this is hands down the number one thing I would do and say ‘why can’t I just open Maps?’ Worth every penny

Thank God for this App. Seriously the fact that this isn’t supported natively on iOS is insane. This app is a godsend and fixes one of the most frustrating issues I’ve experienced on iPhone.

Finally…. This app needs more publicity. I NEVER EVER, I mean ever, pay for apps but when I saw this service I couldn’t get my debit card out quickly enough. It works flawlessly and seamlessly. I am grateful to the programmers and everyone who worked to bring this service to us. It’s literally sad Apple doesn’t give us this option natively. Anyway thank you developers! I’ll spread the word to my circle of influence.

I think a little misleading. In order to let this work, I had to delete Google Maps entirely. I couldn’t just go on google, click directions, and have it pop up to Apple Maps. It has to go to the Google Maps website that then allows you to allow it to go to maps. I’m sure at one point it worked flawlessly, but right now, maybe because google updated something, not sure. It doesn’t work as well as you’d hope for it being a paid extension.

Apple Maps > Google Maps. Although this app is a minimal $0.99, it’s so helpful. My safari browser redirects to Apple Maps now vs. Google Maps prior. Would definitely recommend to others.

So far so good. Seems to work great so far. Detects all of your map apps and lets you choose the one you want as default. Then clicky a map and wah-la (yes, I know, it’s voila) you get Waze or Apple Maps or whatever you want. Also runs fine after closing the Mapper app. Thumbs up.

Super Convenient. Such a little change but makes your day more efficient! I would always have to go to the google web browser and have to copy and paste then go to the maps app. But this app made it so easy thank you! Would recommend

Privacy concerns. An awesome feature that should be a part of the operating system. My one issue is regarding the extensions is the requirement for access to all website data. Other similar extensions request data for specific websites being redirected, which is how it should be for this app as well. Update: if the access to all website data is left at “ask”, specific websites can be picked allowed to be accessed by this extension without giving it access to all websites. Thank you for the response!

still requires permission. makes my life MUCH better. does still bring up the “open in maps?” pop-up, requiring another tap, but lightyears better than it was!

Simple app that rids me of Google Maps. Yes, I know some people love Google Maps…I’m not one of them. Thankfully, this app will redirect map directions from Google to Apple Maps rather than taking me to the Google Maps page where it constantly tries to make me download the Google Maps app. This is perfect and exactly what I needed. Well worth the small price for such a nice convenience.

Must have!. This is something you didn’t know you needed. It’s ridiculous that Apple doesn’t have this already installed on Apple devices. Anyway, this app is worth every penny. So convenient! Thank you!!

Only partially works. The app will open a Google directions link in Apple Maps ONLY on the initial search page. But once I click on the business itself, the Google directions link below it will open only in Google Maps. The page shown in the screenshots for this app is the page I'm talking about. If you click the Google directions link from that page, the directions will NOT open up in Apple Maps. If there's something I’m missing here, I'm more than willing to change my rating, but for now I give this app 3/5 stars. Even though it's still useful, it fails to fully deliver what is promised.

Apple Maps in a world that links to Google. In a world where linking to Google Maps is the default, Mapper is a must-have extension for those that prefer Apple Maps. Mapper works consistently on my iPhone to open Apple Maps, which provides a much better experience than Google Maps. It does fail with 5% of links that are edge cases: certain coordinates or Google-proprietary Plus Codes for example. Excited to continue using this on iPad and Mac now that “Apple Maps on the web” is in beta.

Hit or miss if it works. It sometimes works, but often enough it either just opens Apple Maps with a search results screen instead of the actual location, or worse, sends you to a completely different place. I only learned that it doesn’t use coordinates when reading the FAQ on the app itself. So who knows how it determines the location. As an example, I’m currently in Hong Kong for work. One Google Maps link for a local restaurant opened in Apple Maps to a Car Park in Japan?!? And another one opened to a search results page with a few options and non of them were the right place. My guess is that it only works if the location exists exactly the same in both Google Maps and Apple Maps.

Doesn’t work for coordinates.. When following a link that gives only a spot location, mapper won’t show that location in Apple Maps. The error message states: “Cannot provide directions. Cannot get directions to and from the same location. “

Open the web version on Mac ?. Works great on iOS. But on Mac, it could have the option to use the web version of Apple Maps : maps.apple.com It would be simpler.

Lightweight app that solves the problem. Thank God I don’t need Google Maps anymore. This app is really lightweight and does the job beautifully.

Works well. Get google’s hands off your map data. Nice simple and effective. Make sure you give it permission in the settings/safari/extensions. I had no luck with ‘ask’ but it definitely worked with ‘allow’. Click a link in safari: apple maps. Pick a little mini map in your safari search: apple maps. Al, while still using google search (if you still want google to have your search data but not your map data). Oh and all those people wanting to know why using safari (with google search) auto opens google maps? ‘cause google pays apple $1B+ for the privilege. Get Mapper. Only $1 and it tracks/collects absolutely no data! Support the dev for that reason alone!

Does Not Work. Tried the example in the extension app. Opens in Google Maps. Author should make clear it only works if you have the Google Maps APP installed. This extension could be great if it supported mapping the GM web app.

Where is my privacy?. Why does this only work when I ALLOW the app to alter/access my webpages and browsing history? As the app developer states on the AppStore, this app shouldn’t collect personal data. But you still need to grant it to make it work!!!!! That alone gives it this rating.

Does not work always sending me to the states. I live in Canada and I push on a Canada link and it gives me directions to null road in the states

Fraud. Running ios15.1 and it keeps defaulting to google maps. Everything was set up as directed. It’s a fraud.

Only works on Google.com. Bought this expecting it to work on any website. It actually only works if you specifically Google an address, then tap the directions button. It doesn’t do anything on any other website.

Not working on any site apart from Google. On any site except Google I get an undefined address. Apple Maps opens but there’s no address passed to it. I don’t suggest buying this until this problem is fixed.

Exactly what I needed. For some reason Apple didn’t make this standard and well this developer took it into their hands and it works as intended. Now instead of my web browser resorting to google maps I can now click on a link or map on a webpage and takes me directly to Apple Maps without copy and pasting address. Even works in texts from android guys sending me google map links. Takes me directly to Apple Maps! A+ Maybe Apple will inherit this and not make us users spend 1.99. But for now 100% worth it!
