Here is a summary with the big changes we made:
- We have consolidated the different flows for creating a custom food in one unified experience. No matter if you want to Quick Add some calories or you want to get more in depth and add macro and micro nutrient information, now you can do it in the same form.
- We modernized the look and feel for the Custom Foods form! We hope you will enjoy the new layout and your tracking experience will be more streamlined.
Other smaller improvements we performed included bug fixes and small UI tweaks:
- We fixed the issues around the barcode scanner on all devices, including iPad devices.
- We fixed a small bug that was preventing custom foods to show up in My Foods tab.
- We performed small UI tweaks on the Food Details screen so you can always have the caloric value in view.
- We also brought back the brand information in the title of the food responding to your needs.
- We fixed a bug where exercises were tracked unexpectedly in some situations.

MyPlate has kept me accountable and motivated. It is super user friendly and convenient (I am using the paid version). I love getting reminders to log my meals. I have been following my healthy eating plan for 6 weeks and have dropped 23 pounds.
On occasion there is an error/different than posted on label nutritional values of a product. I would like to see an option “report an error for this product”. Also, would it be possible to give info on net carbs ( net carb=total carb-fiber)? Love this app otherwise. I have been using it for the past 5 months.
I’d been using Lose it for a year but I felt like I was stagnating with it. So I decided to try this one out, and it’s so much better. I love how it breaks everything down for you in terms of how much sodium and whatnot you’re eating, not just calories. And it allows you to track water intake as well without charging you to do so, Lose It requires you to go premium to do that. This app also connects rather seamlessly to the health app that comes on your iPhone, and gives you an idea of how many calories you’re burning instead of just saying “take this many steps and get a calorie bonus” like Lose It does. I find this feature much more useful.
I love the app in general and have been using it for some time now. That being said, the new update is a pain. I liked how when I create a wick add for a food all I had to do was put the macros in. Now it has the option to put everything in, which is fine, but when I put in the macros, the name, and serving size (if there is one specifically) I get an error message telling me the information is put in incorrectly but doesn’t tell me how to fix it. This leaves me frustrated and not able to track my macros. Please do something about this or go back to the way it was before.
My husband and I both use this app. I’ve lost 30 lbs. and he’s lost 20 lbs. since we got it. This app makes watching what you eat easy. So glad I gave it a try!
I’ve been an iOS user for over 8 years and I’ve never rated an app. However, this app really deserves a 5 star rating. It is very user friendly and does everything go you would like it to do and MUCH MORE. It’s unlike any other app in this category, this app does not try to rip you off. Having every detail for every food and recipes for delicious healthy foods. I lost 15lbs of fat very quickly and I’ve been the healthiest and leanest I’ve ever been in my life. Thank you MyPlate

Aussie here. It always surprises me that developers go into such detail and leave out something as simple as being able to use kilojoules instead of calories.
I love using this app as I’m a teen always worried about my body image and this app along with my Fitbit helps me realise that I’m eating what I’m meant to be eating and that my body is healthy.
I have never counted calories before but I need to lose weight and this app lets me know how much I’m eating. It’s fun 🍓Update:- unfortunately most of the foods are American. And I’m surprise how hard it is to find calorie info eg serve of 6 (Sydney rock) oysters! Or sushi. There’s a lot of calorie info on brands (American) but little on simple whole fresh foods.
This app would be so much better if you could measure food out by the gram!!!! This is the only thing stopping me from using this app... Super frustrating.
Not sure if this is just an Australian thing, but doesn’t recognise barcodes of Woolworths products. Going back to old app😞
I really like this app overall however it’s not seamless for Australian residents using it. The majority of foods are not found through barcode scanning or searching which requires details from the nutritional panel to be added.
This app has a lot of bugs that means you can’t count on your data being there. I’ve had a number of occasions when I log in and find my data is gone. It’s the reason I’m not going to upgrade to a paid level. If they can’t deliver a reliable experience at the basic level, I have no confidence in other levels. When it works it’s great but the constant data bugs really impact quality and trust I have in this product.
Will rate five if this gets fixed! After 1 day of using i cant search for any new foods, wont load or present any information other than ones i have already done!!
Following up on my previous review below, it appears that weight value gets corrupted all the time, and that blows all the calories reading out of proportion, as they surely are calculated based on weight. If the app got access to the Health app, then ALL your calories reading are unreal! There are some funny things are going on. Since synchronised between iPad and iPhone my weight jumped to 200kg, but now got even to about 2000kg. Burnt calories the same about 8000cal, impressive. There is somewhere a sync problem between devices (via your server), or/and looping data when exchanging with iPhone Health resources. Would you like to take a look?

I absolute love this app. I was using multiple apps prior to this but someone recommended this app and I ended up deleting all the other apps. This one not only lets me scan my meals but it tracks my water intake!
Use it every day,4 times a day
This app works because of its simplicity and its persistence. It is easy because I don’t have to look up a bunch of recipes or nutritional values. Most everything I eat is already on a list I select. Even the junk food. It is persistent through reminders that make it almost impossible to ignore. I started by tracking everything I ate without trying to change anything. This gave me a few weeks of data showing all my bad habits. Even after drinking cokes and eating way too much Chick Fil A, I found myself staying under my calorie goal. My calories burned are easy to enter by selecting items from a list such as my favorites — walking the dog and gardening. After establishing a routine of using the app, I started focusing more on the nutrition values. I have only used the basic free version of the app.
I use this App everyday - it keeps me at the weight I want. It keeps track of my calories burned and if I’m eating too many carbs. It is an easy habit to start to keep yourself on track.
I use this app everyday to tell me the cold hard truth! The updates make for easy use of this app. I can easily change which meal I ate certain foods in, for example. I love the Dr. Rhonda Patrick interview—she’s my favorite scientist!
Was diagnosed with diabetes type 2, couldn’t take medication due to I’m allergic to it. I panicked, all the doctor said I could do was lose weight. I found My Plate App and in 4 months, I have lost 30 pounds and my glucose is under control. I love this app! I use it in conjunction with Pinterest recipes. I’ve been controlling sugar, salt, fat, carbohydrates and calories with this app! I highly recommend MyPlate!
Ever since I’ve downloaded this app I’ve been easily able to watch what I eat and eat a much more balanced diet and control my portions! I’ve become so educated from this app, and the community is wonderful! Thanks to this app, I’m healthier and I feel better than ever about my body! 10/10 recommend!

Update - so far so good. Apple Watch Activity tracking is good. I lost the meals I had created and haven’t tried it again. I had written to app support and they responded - a wonderful sign! I decided to switch apps (from My Fitness Pal) to see if I could get better Apple Watch tracking and also provide a different visual view. I have deleted MyPlate and restarted it to see if there was an error I made. I opened the app at 6am today and it showed I had already eaten breakfast and lunch and had done 325 calories worth of exercise. These were entries from yesterday. Yesterday the entries were not recording correctly. I tried to adjust them, but every time I exited and re-entered, I got a different result. And the Watch tracking, which had been very good, was not working correctly. I like the app enough to start again. Will report back. (Few minutes later) That didn’t work. When I deleted the app, the message said it was deleting the data, but it did not. Edit of a meal doesn’t work. There is no edit capability when I click Edit. Please fix. I’ll find another way to report some of this functionality that needs fixing. Decent app. Just needs some tweaking.
I love this app. I would love it more if it were possible to write notes/reminders. I would also love to be able to integrate weight watchers points.

I have paid for another app to record food intake etc. And this free app is way better. All the foods are on the list very little missing and really easy to use .
Your recent update completely messed up all my history on the up. Weight entries and exercises entries changed for last 2 months. Bring back all my previous data!!! Won't recommend this app if it can do this!

Have this app for about a year.. I actually think it helps more than exercise because you auto calculate calories from food before you eat. And if you manage the daily target weight comes off.... It works
Great app, really useful tool in weight loss control. Use it don't abuse it, log everything to give you a picture of where you are going wrong or right! The associated water app is brilliant as most of us don't drink enough water. Do it!!
Great way to keep me on track
Really loving this App, definitely putting me back on track with my eating habits. The only reason I am minus 1* is because of like to be able to change measurements and weight to European counters instead of having to convert everything but even still, this is the best/easiest app I've found to do the job that I've been looking for without the crazy costs of a PT
