Not as good. This new version is not as good. It no longer the ESV. Don’t know what version it is now. Missing also is the option to have it read to you. Just not as good as it was.

Why is iOS 6 required?. Glad to see the developer is still updating this app - it's great for what it does and it looks like some of my minor nits have been fixed in latest update. But I can't really tell because my 1st gen iPad can't upgrade to iOS 6. I suspect others are in this same boat. At some point I'll get annoyed by the update I can't have still showing up in the upgrade list and I'll have to delete the app and rely on the St Clare Mission website for my on-the-go lectionary.

App won't open. The app won't open. Tried 100 times or more. I get the cover but it never opens. I keep hoping they will fix it but no dice thus far

A must-have app!. Works flawlessly. Up pops the current daily office reading. You can use either NRSV or NKJV translations. I’ve been using this for a couple years, and cannot imagine going back to hard copy!

A useful app to enrich worship and prayer. This is a blanket review for all of Jim’s apps. If you like this one, please consider looking at everything he has created. These apps are by no means perfect, but they are a good faith effort by an obviously devout Christian to share his gifts by creating apps that can assist others in worship and prayer. I had the good pleasure of sharing an email exchange with Jim and he assured me that he is working on getting his older apps updated. So I will wait patiently while he works to bring us something new. In the meantime, the current versions are entirely functional, if not always pretty, and do what they are meant to do. The rare glitch can be overcome by reinstalling the app, which is not really a big deal. If you’re looking to live a more reverent life, please support Jim by downloading this app, as it is reasonably priced and useful. Might I suggest for a future release, combining the 4 BCP apps into one single app so that the Sunday and Daily readings, as well as the Psalter and Prayers are all in one convenient place? You could charge $5.00 for it, which is about the combined price of the 4 individual apps, and I think it is a reasonable price to pay for an app that makes the Book of Common Prayer so accessible. Very Good. The layout, looking like a book, is somewhat eclectic and goofy… and the default font is just plain silly… but the content is all there and correct, and that is what matters. I was specifically looking for a lectionary app that showed the prescribed readings for each day, WITHOUT taking into account special readings for feast days. That way, on a feast day, I can read the special reading AND the standard one so as not to lose track of the ongoing narrative. My only suggestion for this app is to include the 30-day psalm cycle as an option (plleeeeaaaase?) — it’s in the prayer book, and I think a lot of us work pray the daily office use that cycle and not the more common 7 week one.

Thanks be to God!. This app fills void for so many who desire to pray the Daily Office. It places the Scriptures right at hand without the $100+ cost of the bound volumes. What a gift to others who desire to share in the fellowship of God's Word through meditation and prayer. I had no problems at all downloading and installing the app today to my iPad 2. As a vocational deacon in the Episcopal Church, I expect this app to be a part of my daily devotional life.

Ripped off! No text at all!. I paid for the app downloaded it, installed it. It said it was downloading the database. I waited, it said done, I launched the app again and, page after page of nothing but headers. Looked around the app for a support email, and there are none. Came here to see if they had a support link and there isn't one anywhere. This guy just takes your money and if you have an issue, too bad. No support. Apple should reimburse me for this rip-off. Don't purchase until I have been helped, otherwise you're just supporting a rip-off. update: While clunky on installation and in finding app support, the app is working and therefore deserves better than one star, and is not a "Rip-off. Just be patient on installation and make sure it completes before anything else occurs.

Does not work on my iPad. I downloaded app and opened it. Screen said earl t an update or data refresh. Screen said do not close app until download is complete and daily reading is displayed. Tapped START and when download finished The app did not display anything. iPad home screen appeared. Trying to open the app briefly displays a front prayer book then return to IPad home screen. I deleted the app and reinstalled several times with the same result.

Nice!!! :). I am enjoying this app immensely and appreciate the hard work that went into producing it. Had a question before I purchased it and received an answer very quickly clarifying it. I especially like that I can see all the days so I can re-read something from prior days that spoke to me. Thanks so much for a GREAT app!!!

Wont open. I love this app and use it daily, so I am disappointed that it will not open after the most recent update.

Great App and Support. I have been using this app for several years and it is very well thought out. In addition the author responded very quickly to an issue with reinstalling.

Super convenient! Great response when I needed tech help!. I really like this app!! I initially had an issue with downloading this completely on my iPad,... the index wasn't loading the dates that link you to the various entries. But I emailed Mr. Coates, and he got right back to me and walked me through it. Essentially, I had to delete the app > download it again from the cloud in the App Store (without opening it) > power down > power back up > and open/install. Worked like a charm! Well worth the price to have the material so easily accessible.

Screen. I really enjoy this app but I do have one question for you. I like to read the Lectionary before going to sleep. How do I change the color of the screen to black? Thank you

Great App Needs Update. I agree with Frpacman, this app worked great in 2013 and was the source of my daily devotional reading. I'm very disappointed the app hasn't been updated and I no longer can use the app because of it crashing every time I go to open it. I would have really liked to us it in the approaching Lenten season. PLEASE UPDATE YOUR GREAT APP!

Devotion & Convenience. I am very pleased with this app. It is great to have the readings for the daily office at my fingertips, and the readings are divided into morning and evening selections. The app functions well, and one may choose between the NRSV (Anglicized) and the NKJV. Neither is my personal favorite, but the NRSV is fine. Also, there is the option to select font style and size, which makes for an improvement in reading comfort. The default font looks nice on the "page," but is not the best for extended reading.

App Keeps Crashing. Every time that I have installed and reinstalled this app, it downloads Year 1, and then Year 2 - almost. Just before Year 2 completes downloading, the app crashes and I end up with nothing. An empty app which won't open. So I delete the app, and re-download. It does the same thing. Please fix this so I can use it I have an iPod 4 running iOS 6.1.2. Thanks.

Love it!. This app is awesome in functionality and appearance. And it's not two weeks behind -- it's up to date. (The one section that was behind has been fixed.) I've been wanting the lectionary in a convenient form forever, and I've finally found it.

App Freezes My Devices. This app has never worked for me since I got it. Whether on my iPhone or iPad (both with latest iOS), the app freezes during the opening process. I tried contacting the developer through the website but never got a response. Until this problem is solved, save your money.

Update doesn’t work. After installing the latest update and instructing it to install the database, I have nothing. The installation bar moves across, then the app closes itself, & that’s all that happens. When I reopen it, it says it needs to install the database, & the same thing happens again (& again & again). Love the app, just need it to work.

The Best!!!. This is the best of its kind. It really is. I also really enjoy being able to choose my own font. Thank you for this wonderful resource which enriches my Bible reading.

Highly Valuable Resource!!. The low reviews must have been people who were caught between updates, and never reached out to ask for help. Great communication from the developer, and phenomenal resource for both personal and pastoral use!! Love the NRSV option, and other features! It’s great help to always have it open on the current date, yet make every other day viewable as well!

Another great app!. Jim Coates rides again with another great app. If you have his one for the Daily Offices, be sure and pick up his Sunday lectionary app as well. Truly both are a joy to use!

Still a must have!. There is currently a problem with the Daily Office Lectionary when opening prior to Advent 2014. If you are experiencing this problem, delete the app and then re-download and install and wait for the installation to complete. Also to select between NKJV / NRSV, rotate the device to portrait (vertical) orientation. To see all readings, swipe the page with your finger to turn the page or click the > button. Even with these issues, I still give this app five stars for content and ease of use. If you too enjoy this app, please write a good review to help keep the app in good standing so others would be encouraged to download God's word!

Great app - but it's two weeks behind. When I use this app it seems to be two weeks behind the church calendar. I love having the Word right at my fingertips, just wish the readings were in sync with church.

Blessing at Your Fingertips. Really nice app - easy to use, wonderful way to keep daily scripture and prayers "at hand" no matter where you are. WISH EVENING PRAYERS/SCRIPTURES WERE INCLUDED as that's why I actually bought app (I am reader at Evening Prayer services). Please consider adding! Best BCP Daily Office Resource Out There!. So many features, like the ability to select a date, and best of all it’s accessible without a Wi-Fi connection so you read anywhere at anytime. Been my go-to for several years now.

Not an improvement. The old version was better; at least as far as I can tell because I can only view one page in this new version. The page I can see is too busy and I really dislike the 'red letter edition'. Too bad because I used the old version almost daily.

Awesome. This app is excellent. It makes it incredibly easy to access the daily offices. When I had a problem with a program glitch Jim Coates responded personally even though he was out of the country. He also let me know when he had fixed and updated the app. That is service above and beyond!

Good app. I had trouble opening this app at first but I reinstalled it and it's worked fine since. Great having the lectionary so accessible especially when I travel. I use it every day

Faithful Companion. I've been successfully using this app for years with only the occasional issue that was quickly and easily resolved by a reinstall. I can't imagine starting, or ending, my day without it. I am so grateful for it!

Daily Office Lectionary. This is a wonderful app! I use it everyday and get so much enjoyment from it. I recommend it to all.

Ok. Could be more user friendly. The smallest font size is too large for me and you have to scroll thru the various sizes to get to it. The Bible version chosen does not seem to stick. I would prefer to choose which of the day's readings to concentrate on rather than having to manually skip though the psalms, for example, to get to it.

Excellent app-Recommend. This is an excellent ecumenical daily lectionary app. It is easy to read, easy to use, and I've had no issues with it. I highly recommend it if reading the daily lectionary is part of your routine.

Pretty Good. The basics work fine. I would be willing to pay up to $10 yearly for this app. I have been using this app since 2011. Stopped working at beginning of new church year Dec 2014. Had to delete app, then re-install. There are no instructions on how to use, and seems to be significant lag in execution on my iPad. I also find the new format "busy". I read first thing in AM, and would like it to look simple and plain. As far as I can tell, this is still the best app for American daily lectionary.

Not for iPad2 at first try. I downloaded this app and it worked fine on my iPhone 4 - but it took two tries for my iPad 2. After de-installing and re-installing it's working now. Just a note for those who might find that it doesn't work on your iPad.

Finally works. Updated review. This might be ok but the index doesn't download so I can't find the dates. Also, I see only psalms. I thought I was getting all the readings. Can anyone help me? (Please continue to read for update.) Hopefully this will encourage anyone having problems. I ordered this app on my new 2017 iPad. The index would not show dates. I deleted app, turned iPad off and reloaded twice and saw no change. Then my husband realized the app had also come up on his iPad and all was working correctly. I checked my iPhone and it, too, had the app and it was working correctly. But the index still wasn't loading on my app. I deleted it again, and one more time, and finally I got the index to load. So, all in all, it's working well and I like having the readings in one place. I'd give it 5 stars if I had not had so much trouble getting this set up.

Glad to have it back. The Daily Office is part of my routine, and Jim Coates’ app is a perfect fit with my BCP. It’s especially helpful because we travel a lot. While I have other daily reading apps, this one suits me best, and I missed it when it was down for a few weeks.

Best Lectionary App. This is unquestionably the best lectionary app for iOS! The service provided by Jim Coates is quick and personal. Within a couple of hours after my email was sent Jim was responding with help. The app is intuitive to use and allows for some customization in the font choice and size of the font. My only request for improvement is to allow for font color and background color. Also, why not create an app with the entire Book of Common Prayer? We would pay handsomely for such an app. I have about 6 different lectionary apps and this is my favorite! Thanks Jim for your service!

Similar to prior reviews, needs update!. I'm having the same problems that other reviewers report. In fact, the reason I saw the recent reviews was that I was in iTunes to re-download the app due to it crashing. I assumed the database was corrupted, but perhaps not as it is happening repeatedly. I've updated to the most recent iOS, so perhaps that the app needs to updated accordingly. I don't really have any troubleshooting that can help really. Just try to open the app and it crashes before it can load.

Disappointed. Based on my experience with the satisfactory 'Prayers and Thanksgivings' app by the same developer, with its relatively clear and simple visual presentation and plentiful text font options, I was expecting something different. Here we are stuck with a rather elaborate, space-wasting page format and an annoyingly 'cute' font made worse by inadequate text size controls. Not everyone will be bothered by this sort of thing, but if you feel that the visual style of a Hallmark greeting card is inappropriate for the dignity of scripture, you will want to take a very careful look at the screen shots, because the customization options are extremely limited.

Great resource. This app is a great resource for your walk with God. It just works. It is laid out well and doesn’t get in the way of reading. Preferences for reading version (NKJV and NRSV) as well as type face and size are easy to use. Recently I had occasion to get in touch with Jim with a question and he got back to me quickly even though, as it turned out, he was on a trip to the Holy Land. I highly recommend this app.

Great find. Exactly what I was looking for without the page turning, and perfect for a darker room with the backlighting of device. I appreciate that the app opens to the right date, translation, etc. Worth far more than the price.

What a great resource. I went looking for an app that would just give me the BCP readings. This app goes far beyond that! I am astounded that for only $2 I have all of the readings at my fingertips — in two different translations! This is obviously a work of love by its developer. Bless you, Jim!

Rock solid and oh so portable. Okay - I like best saying the Daily Office with a prayer book and a Bible on my lap. But one can't carry these volumes anywhere and everywhere, so, when I'm on the road, out comes my iPhone and its lectionary. I keep a Canadian Book of Alternative Services in the iPhone, too (via Dropbox) so I can access Canticles, versicles and responses, and the ECUSA Psalter, which is more conducive to worship than are the psalms in the NKJV or NRSV - but in a pinch the Lectionary App is quite sufficient. And it's been utterly stable, until 2018, when Advent crashed. But Jim Coates fixed it right away, so all is well.

Excellent. To clarify Ms Zed's review, I have used this app on my iPhone and on my iPad daily for over two years. It does all the books of the Bible not just Psalms! It is very easy to use. It is kept up to date and works well with all IOS updates. I highly recommend it.

Technical horror. I paid my $1.99 for a heading "Lectionary Index" at the top of a very slightly screen. Nothing else. Don't waste your money or time!

App not working as of 12/01/2018. The new calendar year did not load. I uninstalled and reinstalled but Year 3 does not complete. Is there a fix available?

Keeps crashing. This keeps crashing in the midst of loading. I don't understand why. However, when it has worked, it is very handy indeed.

Can't open. Today is Nov. 2. The book cover comes up but it won't open. I turned off my iPad, then I deleted the app, then I retrieved it from the cloud. It still won't open. It was excellent until now--a number of years.

need help. The app is stuck with the New King James translation and won't change to the NRSV. I find that totally unacceptable and won't be able to use it. (What I would really like is the NIV)

Two Weeks Behind. Great concept, but it is two weeks behind the BCP Daily Office Lectionary.

Disappointed. Poor design. Pages are busy. Didn't open initially and had to reload. Don't recommend.

Thank You!!!. It took me a bit too long to find this, but now that I have all I can say is thanks! Suggestions for future development: - a text only view (the GUI I cute, but not always necessary). - a couple more translations for the texts - integration of Devotional Prayers, vespers, etc. This is a great start, PLEASE keep developing.

Update does not work. I have tried applying the update, and uninstalling and reinstalling the application. Sadly, I cannot get the new version to open.

Resource. This Version of the lectionary is an excellent resource and support for daily prayer and reflection.

Daily office lectionary. This app worked nicely in 2013. With the new year it abandoned me and has not opened since.

Out of date. Readings for current year beginning Advent 2018 have not been written. Don’t waste your time with this.

Nice app. It needed to be deleted and reloaded at the new year, but otherwise a really nice app.

Crashes on opening. Upon start up, I get a nice picture, it hangs 20 seconds, then crashes. Frustrating when you're trying to get in prayerful mind.

Daily Office Lectionary. Quit working altogether. Deleted and downloaded and now it works perfectly again. One of my favorite apps

Would be a cool app. This app does not open for the iPad Mini. Wish it would...Lenten Season has started and I am left with a dud for an app. Sigh, I had high hopes for this.

Very disappointing. I enjoyed this lectionary for the first couple of months I had it. It stopped opening after that. Installing all system & app updates, then removing & reinstalling the app did not fix it.

Not as advertised. I too feel ripped off. Only the psalms for the day come up, not any of the other readings. If it said that was all that was included, that would be different. But this app promises one place to find all of the lectionary readings for the day, and that is an absolute falsehood. I need a refund.

Psalter only?. For some reason I can only see the readings from the psalter, not the OT, Gospel or epistle readings.

As a busy mother and a nurse-midwife who is on call all of the time, this app enables me to be more consistent in my devotional life. Readings only. This app does not have the full Daily Office unlike Mission St Clare. This is the readings only. I cannot find Mission St Clare for iPad.
