I love this App. I really love having easy access to all the Sunday readings. I use weekly in my ministry. And, I've used it more than once in an emergency to access the lost reading at the last moment when nobody else seems able to find it. I highly recommend it to anyone needing easy access to the readings in either the Revised Standard Lectionary or the BCP Lectionary. Thank you for making it available.

Humble pie. Time to eat humble pie. I left a review last night disappointed that the app didn't work well and seemed to be stuck in the wrong lectionary year. After my iPad updated itself overnight, those problems (at least at a first glance) seem to have resolved. Looking forward to trouble-free use ahead...?

Useful, clear, great options. So glad to find this-- with my needs of RCL and NRSV, this is perfect! (Also many font and size options). Great on phone, ran into a couple non-frustrating glitches on iPad (he notes just turn to 'profile' tho' it's been workable in landscape). For a buck for having it on 2 devices, I'm grateful most of all. Just get it.

Only lasts for current year. I have purchased this app twice only to discover both times it quits at the end of the church year. I won't be purchasing it again.

App Crashes/Resolved. I was having a problem reloading this app after a phone upgrade. I sent an email to the developer and explained my problem. He replied promptly and addressed my concerns. This is the best customer service I have ever received from an app developer. I’m very impressed with Mr. Coates and his dedication to his work and his customers. Highly recommend!!

Disappointing. Having used this app for over a year I finally give up on it when I found - once again - mistakes in the listing of texts for next Sunday. The eBCP has the right lessons, as well as lots of other useful texts.

Exactly what I was looking for. Exactly what I was looking for without the page turning, and perfect for a darker room with the backlighting of device. I appreciate that the app opens to the right date, translation, etc. Worth far more than the price.

Works perfectly. If The app doesn't work delete and then reload it and it works amazingly perfect New features are great - new version is fantastic - the pages swipe like kindle & there is an index feature allowing you to pick any Sunday by touch Great app !!!

Great after Initial Glitch. I'm running this on iPhone 6, OS 8.3, downloaded it once March 23, 2015, and could not get it to work at first. The RCL option wasn't available. On the advice of other reviews, I deleted the app, turned phone off and back in, stood on one foot, downloaded it again, and it's fine now. Works flawlessly. Go figure--but I'm very happy with the functionality. Texts are available in NRSV or NKJV, with a wide variety of fonts.

Lector's best friend. As a frequent lector, I rely heavily on this app. I especially appreciate that it has the Revised Common Lectionary. I had a problem with the app updating at the beginning of this Liturgical year. An email to the developer, Jim, got a prompt response and and easy solution. Highly recommended!

Awesome!. This app is awesome! A very, very practical one indeed. It's always there in case I want to go back to Sunday readings for my own personal spiritual enrichment and study. I strongly recommend this to everyone , very helpful in case you don't have the opportunity to attend Sunday Service, you can always refer back to it. Thank you for making this app.

A must-have app!. Works flawlessly. Up pops the current lectionary reading. You can use either RCL or BCP, in either NRSV or NKJV translations. Once, when chancing church years, the app went all wonky. Jim was very responsive in walking me through probably fixes.

Sunday Lectionary. This has been a good app until now. The dates are all messed up (to the last "year A" .) The app crashes now. Have been using this and the daily office for years for devotionals. Great App!. I have used this app for a couple years now and never had a problem. It's my go to!

GREAT APP!. As a pastor, this is one of my favorite apps! However, the incorrect dates are listed in the index for 2017.

Contact the developer w/ issues. As others have said they have had issues loading new church years or display issues. I contacted the developer and got a response within a few hours with some steps to try. It is frustrating to have to do that but at least he is responsive. There was another Lectionary app in the store that I liked better but it is no longer available which is why I'm only giving 4 stars. Good support, just not as slick as the last one I used.

Could be more effective.. I like the customization of font and ability to find other dates. It'd be nice if it showed a list of scripture references rather than having the user "page flip" through the entirety of the passages. Also, the page flip animation feels out of place and outdated now that we're in an iOS 8 world.

Where is Year A?. I wanted to be able to quickly access Sunday's readings on my phone. I was disappointed to see that it's showing Year B readings rather than Year A. It's of little use to me.

Great App!. I had some initial issues (crashing upon initial launch, dates and titles not displaying in index...). The developer responded to my problem within a few hours and per his instructions the app loaded and performed as promised. Very useful and helpful app. Thanks Jim!!

Lector. I really wanted this app because I do a large typeface printout for our lectors' book every week. Unfortunately, our Episcopal church uses the Revised Common Lectionary, and the app does not. It being of no use to me, I deleted the app, taking solace that it was only 99 cents.

RCL not working.... Bought this app specifically for the RCL and can't get it to work...I've restarted the app and my phone and reinstalled to no avail. Not a good use of your dollar if you are getting this for the RCL!

All of a sudden it stopped working. Developer helped me fix it with a reinstallation. Voila!

I really want to rate this higher. This looks like it could be a great app if the interface was better: I cannot find a way to navigate to the Psalm, Epistle or Gospel. When I am stuck on the Hebrew Scripture Lesson I cannot rate the app greater than 1 star. Sorry. Show me where to navigate to other sections and I’ll change my review to 5 stars.

Whoops. What happened to the Collects??!! Need 'em. And, what's with the sound effects? Do NOT need 'em. It was a surprise that I had to update this app, and a bigger surprise that it doesn't include the Collects. This makes the sound effects all the more irritating. I'd pay more than $.99 for the old format. Please?

Great app!. Really nice app! Very handy, pleasant to the eye, easy to use. Note: translation switch does not work in landscape, and that is intentional, as the formatting is far better in portrait mode. As an Episcopal priest, I will find this Very useful. I highly recommend this for you if you want a great lectionary that will work on your I-device!!

Collects?. Ap appears to be working well. Unless I’m missing something, I could really use the Collects as well.

App Healed Itself (updated review). On initial install (iPad Pro, most recent version of iOS)… the app popped the “download the database” dialog and then the app exited. Attempts to restart the app cause it to exit, even after power off reset of iPad. Several days later… it just started working. It’s a miracle! :-). OK, not really, but the app does work.

Great app. Very useful!. Had a bit of trouble figuring out how to change readings to RCL but I emailed the creator of the app and it was easily corrected. Very useful for those of us who don't like juggling books in church.

Useless. This program does not even open in ios 8, therefore it is completely worthless. Would have given it zero stars if possible.

Thank you!. Thank you for fixing this app! I did as was suggested and it works with version 1.2.3. Hopefully those who have written bad reviews would be willing to give version 1.2.3 a try and perhaps update their reviews to indicate such. Let's all share God's word!

Confusion. This app sounds great, and is generally terrific. However it does not follow the Revised Common Lectionary, that is generally used by most major denominations around the world. Not sure what it uses, but it is out of line with most churches I have visited in the USA and internationally. If they can get a version that aligns with RCL, it will be terrific!

A simple app that works. I've been using the daily and Sunday apps for a few years. I travel a lot for an old guy, and they let me keep up with my routine of daily prayer and study for the Sunday to come. Especially helpful when no wifi is available.

Not all lectionaries are the same. If you are Episcopal (as the app creator shares in the information) this is a great app. If you are United Methodist you are going to learn that the Episcopal and UM lectionaries do not line up. This was a .99 cent lesson for me;)

App heal yourself. The app has worked great for years. Today, it won’t open, even after a reboot. Help!

Improvement!. Thanks for the update! It no longer crashes, and I appreciate having easy access to more than just the current week. Much improved. Holding at 3 stars for now because it appears that some of the lectionary readings are not correct. Also, only one of the two lectionary tracks appears to be shown. I'll return to this for final review after I can check this against the book on the morning.

Don't buy this. This app does not work properly (much weirdness) and gives you only one day and no actual scripture. I should have just used my hard copy to get what I wanted. Want my money back--shame in Apple for not making it easy to get refunds,

New App, New bug. I had the same problem other reviewers here had. Due to the bug in the old app, I had to delete and re-purchase the app (something I'm already not happy about). New app won't get past the loading screen. It just crashes every time. My iOS is up to date, so the problem seems to be the app.

Excellent!. I rarely give reviews, so this is a great exception... I just downloaded this app and love it! After a quick perusal, dates and readings are all correct. There is great flexibility in its settings. I have desired such an app for quite a while and glad I found this one!

Great Support. I've been using this app for 4 years and ran without issues. I ran into a problem with getting Year C to show up this year. Sent Jim an email, he responded quickly and I was able to resolve the issue. I Highly recommend this app.

Not quite awesome.. Just downloaded and will need more time for more suggestions but It is a start. I would recommend an early revision - put in color background to match the season. I had a good RCL app that I like a lot but support has disappeared as well as the app from the store. This is close. I can see why a programmer would want to be paid for their work, so 99 cents is a good buy.

App crashes on splash screen. Despite Mr Coates assurance that the app is fixed (see 11-24 review/comment by him) I freshly downloaded and installed. Splash screen comes up with "please wait" for 15 seconds & the crashes. After that crashes almost instantly. Reinstall no help. Please fix this!

Very useful. Having the readings where I can look at them on my phone makes it very easy to check during work breaks for any words not part of my standard vocabulary so that later I can check how to pronounce or a subtle unusual meaning that would make me read it a little differently.

Very good, but . . .. I have had this app on my iPhone for some time and really enjoyed it. It has been very helpful to me as a layreader to prepare for the times that I read. So I was looking forward to having it on the iPad that my wife recently bought me. I was pleased with the option of font sizes and types (especially since I really dislike the default font). However, I prefer the layout of the iPhone app to this layout. It is simpler and, IMHO, easier to use. Also, thus far, I have been unable to persuade the app to change from the NKJV to the NRSV, which I prefer and which my parish uses for its services. Still, glad to have it. I just like the iPhone app better.

Where is year C. My app thinks I'm in the first Sunday of advent for year B--won't reset for year C no matter what I do. I've updated, changed and saves settings, restarted, deleted and tried the whole process over again... This idea of this is phenomenal (as the daily lectionary as been a great resource)--I just need it to update to the current cycle!

I like the new version. I was a little puzzled and then disappointed when I realized that the old version stopped working at the end of year A and I'd have to pay to get year B. But then I figured for something I use a couple times a week, 99 cents was probably worth it. I was right. I like the streamed-down Sunday-only edition. You can chose between the RCL and the BCP and also between the New King James Version of the Bible and the NRSV. And there are a dizzying array of fonts available. Well worth it IMO.

Will not open. Downloaded this app but when trying to open it I get a quick flash of the cover but it will not open to the lectionary itself. Had the old version until it ceased to exist. Disappointing.

App now works... 🌟🌟🌟🌟. I just finished deleting the app, restarting my phone, & re-downloading the app per the request of the developer on his website. It turns out there was an update I needed in order to resolve a date display problem & one with the Revised Common Lectionary Year B readings not being correct. All seems to be in order now. This app pretty much works as designed; the only reasons I'm giving it four stars instead of five are 1) every time you need a setting to take effect, you have to close & reopen the app; 2) every time the app has an update, you have to delete and reinstall the app; and 3) the developer gets in here & gives himself five-star reviews to tell everyone how to resolve issues, using at least 2 separate logins. I think there are other ways of sharing information with your customers. That said, this is the only ECUSA lectionary app out there (the one I had before is no longer in the App Store), so I kind of need it.

App seems to not work. This app does not seem to work on IPhone 5 it just shuts down after starting up

Excellent app. With very few Lectionary apps to choose from in the App Store, this is the best one I have tried, particularly if your church uses the RCL and NRSV. With a number of issues appearing in a recent update, the developer was extremely good in getting to the bottom of the problems and issuing a corrected update as soon as possible.

Doesn't work. Same as review above. Crashes on opening on my iPad. No response from company.

NOW Working on iPhone. UPDATE App support suggested redownloading and making sure database is loaded properly. This resolved my problems. Very useful app. ********* No update for Year B available. No response to my email. Freezes when trying to open - just bounces out to main screen. Earlier products were great. Not sure what happened.

Lectionaries. Just downloaded and won't open - freezes I-phone. As prior review last lectionaries was great. What's going on??? No star rating.

It is in the past. This is only good for past dates and the next Sunday. I wish I didn't buy it. I need it to plan for sermons and in meetings when discussing the church calendar.

Sunday Lectionary. Where is 2016??? This app has returned to the world of useless!

Don't waste your $. Why would anyone waste their $ on something that shows only the PAST RCL dates/passages? The developer uses the word FOREVER in the description. But the app stops @2014. Either the world is going to end before next Sunday, or the FOREVER refers to my permanent waste of $! It's 2015 & I'm still waiting on the ability to look FORWARD in the Lectionary. Useless!

Great app. Even better support!. I had used this app for a couple of years and, apparently like many others, found it not working at the beginning of liturgical year 2015-16. I tried what I knew to do (delete app, reset phone, reload app) without success. I emailed Jim. He asked a couple questions, told me what to do and "Voila!!", I'm up and running. Wrong lectionary year.. 2015 lectionary year is B not A. This application is worthless until fixed.

R C L Lectionary. Crashes every time I open it.

Doesn’t update to Year B. This app is an good-looking app. You can set the display to most (if not all) the built-in iOS fonts, and you have a wide range of font sizes. You can also copy and paste the text. The app allows you to select either the BCP (Book of Common Prayer) or the RCL (Revised Common Lectionary). However, the app does not appear updated to Year B (2014-15). (I just purchased it on Monday, Dec. 29, 2014, an entire season into the new lectionary year.) In the RCL Sunday list (on the left hand side of the display), Year B does not show up at all. The list recognizes that some Sundays are not applicable to Year B, but otherwise shows the Sundays from Year A. In the BCP list, it APPEARS to give one the Year B dates, but when one clicks on a Sunday, the readings are from Year A. Some of the Epiphany readings are correct, but that appears to be only due to overlap in Year A and Year B readings; the Gospel readings are from Year A and not Year B (indeed, underneath the listing of the Sunday, in parentheses it says: “Lectionary Year A”). Lenten readings are definitely from Year A. This needs to be fixed.
