Average Camera Pro App Description & Overview

What is average camera pro app? Average Camera automatically takes multiple pictures (immediately or after a timer expires), calculates the average picture out of these and normalizes the result, to make the lightest pixel become white. It is useful for producing low-noise pictures in low-light situations. Because of the long exposure time, you should not hold your iPhone in your hands, but lean it against something to get sharp results.

Great app lacking newer functionality. I have been using this app for years and for blending many exposures over a long time, it is unmatched. Lots of control over number of frames and timing between photos. This said, the UI is dated and it does not offer any access to more than the standard lens on multiple lens iPhones which is very disappointing at this point. I would gladly pay to get this app updated with latest features and functionality because even without these updates, it’s still very good.

Does not save pictures to photo gallery on Apple iPhone XS!!. I used this app for years. It was a 5 star app, now a ZERO. This needs an upgrade to save the images to the photo gallery. It DOESN’T save to photo gallery. Very frustrating- so DELETE IT!!

Nice but needs upgrade. Newer iPhones are out, the 12 is coming. I think it’s time for an upgrade. You developers need to maintain your apps and keep them updated. This is a great app, but it’s lacking the new iPhone camera features.

Doesn’t let you upload photos. It doesn’t have an option to upload photos, it only lets you take pictures in the app

Genius. This is an incredibly well considered and useful photo app. It provides tools to create effects and images I have wanted for years with my iPhone. Bravo to the developer you filled a big void and provided amazing utility. This is a point and shoot replacement app. Thank you.

Constant crashing on iPhone 6 plus. Nice app when it works. I can take one set of averaged photos, then the app crashes, I restart it and repeat. Not a great workflow right there. Produces cool results otherwise. Not sure what the issue is, this is a fast phone. Please fix.

App crashing. The old version responded very well to use. As soon as I updated the app appears to crash once launching. I have deleted the app & after redownloading it still crashes. Please fix this soon, this app is one of my favorites and I would hate to use another app.

Good app desperately needs an update. I would rate it higher but it really needs an update to work with newer iPhones. Useful for getting good shots removing people.

An essential camera app that is much in need of an update. This is a fantastic app, and it's a shame that it has gone so long without an update. Perhaps not the original intent, but this app works as a great long exposure app, capturing movement and translating it in beautiful ways. However, its last update was in 2011, and the app is a bit dated; it doesn't fit the iPhone 5 display, and the output seems a little smaller in terms of file size than other camera apps. Still, you cannot argue with the results! Well worth the purchase if you are trying to get the absolute most out of your iPhone's camera.

Love it. Really excited to get to use this. I've been looking for a good averaging app I just wish it could be updated for iPhone 5!

Not good - read review for my choice. I've tested several low light or night cam apps. Out of the 7 that I have tested, this one did very poorly. Night Cam by Lucky Clan did the best. It's worth their asking price. Now that I know, I would ask for my money back on this one. Some of the other apps I tested were nightshot which did ok, but still nowhere near as good, slow shutter cam, not close, avgcampro - not good.

Great app. Great support.. Very impressed by the photos. When I did have a crashing issue (solution was a simple restart or the phone), the developer got back to me with a solution very quickly. Highly recommended.

Only of its kind, easy to use, great results. As expected, you'll need to use a tripod or lean your phone against something to achieve any result. The results are great with my iPhone 5, giving the camera an effective daytime bulb shutter function, with the benefits of low noise and not needing an ND filter.

Better than most. AVG CAM is one of the best camera apps I can think of and I’ve bought a lot it’s my go to app when I need. A slow shutter shot or want some creative aspect to my photography. Well done I hope to see more from this developer... See shots on ig instagram/Briancurnel

One of the best iphone photo app but. I've been using avgcampro since my previous phone but when It comes to 5, 5S. It needs update for 4" display. This is one of the best iphone photography app and an update would be great !

Awesome app. Considering I use an actual camera for my long exposures I decided to try this app out for when I only have my phone on me for whatever reason. Someone on IG mentioned it. Very fun app. I like the intervals and the combo of the photos so you can achieve a decent long exposure look from a phone. Really cool.

Capture unique shots. Great for waterfalls, moving clouds, beach, and traffic

Crashes. I have iPhone 5s and this app crashes nearly every time. I say nearly because it has worked once. it was okay but a ton of noise in picture (not unexpected). The one ⭐️ is for the crashing issue. I have deleted and reinstalled, still not working. At least it wasn't a ton of money.

Good App Needs more instructions on use. I have used the app to take low light pictures that are not grainy. One other uses is during the day in a busy location with lists of people walking by that you want to look like no one is there. I set up a tripod, choose 32 or more frames with a few seconds between frames and let it go. When it's done you can't see any people unless they stayed in one location for a long time.

Update please!. I have had this app for years and am a happy consumer, but I really wish the creator of the app would release an update because this app has become pretty obsolete in situations of normal lighting for the latest iPhones. :(

Stopped working. Latest IOS update does not save to camera roll. Please fix and the 5 stars will hopefully return. Also while you’re at it.. a grid would be very helpful

Best way to get clear photos. I been using this app for over two weeks now. I must say it's fantastic, I never thought my photos would improve in low light with an cell phone camera. Just get if you like taking clear photos with low lighting.

New updated slowed everything. The new update slowed my app up, I have a 5s and it takes a shot once every 20 seconds when it should once every 0 seconds, but it operates like it should be going faster so the apps super glitchy right now. I love this app so much and it really messed up a shoot last night with it not working. Please fix that!

No longer works on iPhone 15 pro. Unfortunately this app has not seen an update in years and no longer works if you are using an iPhone 15 Pro.

Low Light Heaven. I've been looking for a App to perform image averaging ever since getting my iPhone. This App does it and does it extremely well. Of course the subject being photographed must not move and phone must be stationary or mounted to a tripod. It really shines in low light with a high number of images to average. I was confused as to how to enable full resolution - just go to the iPhone's Settings where you'll find AvgCamPro listed. If the App becomes unstable under full resolution, try powering off (not shutting off) the phone, then reboot/restart - worked for me on a 4S. Highly recommended!

Not saving photos. I like the app but it won't let me save my photos. Not sure why. I have the iPhone 7 Plus. Once if works I'll update my rating.

iPhone 6 crash. Always used this app and loved it. Now that I have an iPhone 6 the app will not stay open and crashes every time. Lame.

Creativity unleased. AvgCamPro is an app that will let you do things with your iOS device's camera you only dreamed of. One word though, you will need to use a tripod/clamp of some sort or brace your device against something. Hand held won't work. Great price, great app.

Wow, what a find!. Got this app because the author created another fave of mine (the recorder). Didn't expect much, have lots of camera apps, but this one is going on my home screen... Yes, useful for low light situations, but it also works remarkably well in normal light. Now the notoriously noisy ipad cam can compete with my little point and shoot. Note: do look at the instruction video, it explains how to create the custom noise profile for your ipad, further improving the maximum quality possible (in short: put the ipad face down in daylight, put a white sheet of paper over the camera, take 64 or 128 shots, hit the N, and select the image as your noise profile). Now, after you shoot a picture, you can select 'remove banding' to get rid of the chroma noise in your picture which depends on the inherent noise pattern of your camera. Absolutely lovely. Oh, and the L in the interface seems to stand for Lock (i think this locks the focus and the exposure, but i'm not sure about the latter) I was just wondering, perhaps this would also be a nice tool to remove moving objects from pictures... Just shoot 128 and if your objects move fast enough, they may just be averaged out. Gonna try that next. Highly recommended.

Fabulous app!. First time using it today in an evening crowd scene outside a church it worked great and as advertised. Looking forward to trying it again in appropriate settings to maximize its power.

Great!. Love using this to get great photos in low light. It's very simple to use as well. Please update to fit larger iPhone 5 screen!

lousy app. i upgraded to Xs iphone & now this app is useless dont ask the developer to respond on updates .... they made their money now they are Gone. good thing i have A Sony a7r 3 camera to replace this sorry un updated app.

Everyday App!. My go to app when I'm out shooting works very well +A when will be seeing a grid option? That's pretty much the only thing missing I know a lot if mobile photographers as myself a grid is very helpful when out getting that perfect shot making sure every corner is on point hope too see it soon thank you avgcampro team!

Best for still subjects. Not for quick shots and moving subjects. High res but takes time. SynthCam is another app that can remove noise but saves at low video resolution. But it's quicker than this.

Fantastic Quality, Missing EXIF Data. Make no mistake: this app is a true gem. Controlling long exposures is a breeze plus there's an exposure lock which is ideal for shifting light conditions. The quality of the photos is fantastic. It's worth noting the app doesn't currently save location EXIF data. That may or may not be a big deal to most, but I consider it an unfortunate omission. I contacted the developer and he confirms the app does not save this information. Anyone who enjoys seeing their photos on a map or looking up locations when sharing to services like Instagram, Facebook, Flickr, etc should be aware of this. It's the only reason I knock it down to 4 stars.

Keeps getting better. The noise reduction is very good and now with the addition of full sensor resolution it is very usable (I still make prints). I would still like to have full meta data. Make it so and we have a 5 star app here.

Needs Updating. I just purchased the new iPhone XS and this app can’t access the camera. Sad to find this out since it’s one of my favorite apps.

Quick Bug Fix. I have great praise for the maker of this app for his quick 24-hour turn around for fixing a bug. This is a fun program to use.

NOT WORKING!!!. Just payed a dollar for this app and it doesn't even work. It keeps crashing!

Wow, great find!. I'm excited to find this great little single-purpose app! Now I have a reason to get an iPhone tripod and to really consider the iPhone a more serious camera tool. I only wonder, what's the L icon for on the main screen? Finally, I wish the gain had an option to work more on the darker areas of the image without blowing out highlights. Looking forward to future improvements.

Almost there. This app is great for reducing noise on low light photography but it needs to be updated to work well with iPhone 7 with its two lenses and ability to trip the shutter with volume control on earphones. Overall it does what it claims, it just needs upgrading.

Far and away the best. For me, this is the one and only low light app for the iPhone. Brilliant app. It saves full resolution images that are amazingly noise free, even when taken in very low light. I like clear cam, but come on, average camera pro has no competition for getting high quality low light results. Forget the others, this one delivers low noise in low light. Others don't.

Great Update. Was glad to see that you guys added geotagging to the photos. I would however like to see the time and date get stamped to the exif data. Right now the date and time gets overwritten when editing in a separate app, which makes it a pain when sorting lots of photos later.

Still crashing with slow-shutter. I've rebooted & reinstalled on my iOS7.1.2 iPhone 5, and it still crashes. Also program could be so much more with dark frame subtraction...

Great app! Missing a few key features.. As has been said before, the resolution has got to be better. At least have an option that will let us turn that on. Also, it needs an exposure lock and focus lock a white balance lock wouldn't hurt either. It's a really powerful app but those features could make it incredible.

Yes!. So stoked this amazing app got a update!!

A great iPhone app for a more serious iPhone photographer. I found this app a little difficult to use at first, but the quick video tutorial quickly brought me up to speed. It's a great app that eliminates noise from a low light area, but it's more than that. You can get some great artistic images by making use of a tripod and blurs. I would recommend this to people looking to take their iPhone photography up a notch. This app requires a little patience to use, but the results are worth it. Marc Sadowski The Lens Wipe podcast

Update crash issue. I had that problem too but found out when I updated from my iP5 to iP6 the setting in the device had updated to Not Allow Camera Access, once I activated that setting it worked fine. There should be a pop up which says Avg Cam Pro beds access to your camera or something like that. I love this app and hope it continues to update!

Needs to update.. I would had rated this app a lot higher, but the developer needs to update it. Hasn't been updated in a while. I would love to see it be able to shoot in raw.

The best. I've tried several ( paid ) similar apps .. it's by far the best I came across ever ! Strongly Recommend it

As noise-free as a D-SLR. So I saw the review in Wired magazine and decided to check it out. The idea behind this app is very simple, but the results are great. Only thing I'd like to see is a smaller gap between each shot, but I'm guessing that's a hardware constraint. Maybe the ability to sacrifice size for speed? Anyway, I was really impressed.

iPhone XS. Preview issue of app. Or requesting access to camera appears to have been fixed/resolved itself.

Great app. A DSLR will always take a better picture but apps like these push the teeny iPhone camera to its limits. Awesome job!

Best multi exposure/ long exposure apps. This is my go to apps for long exposure shots on iphone. Been using it since iphone 6. The best thing about this apps is it stacks multiple images so you can shoot long exposure effect without any filters even during broad day light!

Nice app. Nice app, please update for iPhone 5

Fix Save. Great fun app to use, the only thing that drives me absolutely crazy is: after every shot, you have to hit the Save button, then it asked you if you want to Save to Photo Library, then you have to tell it you are Done with the Save. Please Please Please fix this. You should be able to Save to Photo Library directly without having to hit 3 buttons EVERY TIME. I highly recommend this app IF they fix this simple flaw that is just not necessary.

Terrible. Can't even use the app, it crashes immediately. Please fix!

Crashes every time :(. I've not been able to successfully use this app even once. It crashes every time it starts to take photos. Changed settings, deleted and re-downloaded... nothing works. Very frustrating! Please fix ASAP!!

Not happy. I heard so many good things about this app. But mine crashes immediately after it takes the series of photos iPhone 4s iOs5

Slow Shutter. When you switch to slow shutter, the app crashes.

Crashes every time. Last update in 2011. That's probably all you need to know.

A Serious App For Serious Photography. This Developer has created an app which is capable of letting you create images with virtually no noise whatsoever, (similar to the excellent Cortex Cam and ClearCam), but with files sizes about one-third as large. The final results will make your images look as if they were shot on a much more expensive DSLR. This is achieved by shooting a large number of images, ( a range from one shot to an incredible 128 images), which are then processed together to achieve an almost crystal-clear image. If I understand the tech behind this, it works like this: Because "noise" in a photo is constantly moving and shifting, (since it's not actually real, but a result of your sensor struggling to work in low-light situations), if you take a number of images together, and then average the result, the app removes anything that isn't stationary, and that means all the shifting noise specks and artifacts. So what you have left is only those things which were solid to begin with; namely, your subject matter. Everything else is assumed to be noise, and disappears. Which means that when you enlarge the final result, (as I always do, just to marvel at the lack of noise), you find yourself looking at a photo that might have easily been taken with a far more costly and cumbersome camera... Certainly not an iPad or iPhone! Now, there are some trade-offs to this, of course. One is that this app isn't intended for sports or other fast-moving photography. Although in some ways, it might seem to be similar to a "burst cam" because it takes so many photos, it's not meant for moving objects. And, consequently, it means you have to have the camera either mounted on something solid, or at least, sitting stationary on a surface. (Hand-holding isn't the way to shoot.) So, does that limit the types of photos you can get? Sure, but that's the breaks. Not every camera or app is suited to EVERY type of photography. But, when used properly, the results are stunning. But, you know... having said that, you actually CAN shoot with this app hand-held and get some very cool artistic results. If you've ever used the app OverCam, then then this gives a similar effect. Except that this app doesn't merely drag the shutter; it takes individual photographs overlaying one another. So you can end up with a very interesting dream-like sequence. You can either try to hand-hold the camera in the same spot , or you can purposely move the camera slightly with each snap of the shutter. (Kind of like a stop-motion app.) Either way, you'll get a dreamy sort of acid-flashback type of image that may be pretty cool. Obviously it takes some experimentation, but apps like these are made for people who are more than just snap shooters, so why not fool around and see what you get, right? But, of course, the MAIN purpose of this app is to give you super-sharp, low-noise photos, and that's what it excels at giving you. I'm not ready to give up Cortex Cam or ClearCam anytime soon, but it's nice having yet another solid tool in my photographic arsenal. Now, as to those who say they're experiencing crashing, all I can tell you is that this app has never crashed on me once. Which is why I call it "solid". Apps that crash or are buggy either get deleted, or they gather dust in a folder. But THIS app gets used. If you care about high-quality and having the ability to make a little phone or iPad produce work that rivals those really expensive DSLR sensors, then buy this app. And for the cost of a Big Gulp, you'll have a tool that you can use for years to make impressive photos. Verdict? We'll worth the measley couple of bucks it costs.

Slow shutter crashes. iPhone 4 slow shutter crashes

Great. Great photo app but make a version for iPhone 5

Can't use, keeps crashing. Haven't been able to use it once since downloading on my iphone 5 & by the looks of it, neither has anyone else. At least since they updated it. Problem needs to be fixed.

broken. this is totally broke on my iPhone 5S It's extremely slow and buggy and crash a lot now, it was fine before the latest update !!!

App crashes. The app crashes every time i try to use it. I've tried deleting and reinstalling the app, to no avail. Please help.

Broken do not buy. After last update it no longer works. Fix it.

Average camera. I like the exposure features but it would be nice to have hi-res capabilities please!

Excellent!. I really like this app. It does what it claims very well so long as the camera is perfectly still. I would like the developer to add a filter to remove the banding noise from low light photos in future versions. Also, a way to crop the image (to speed the process) would be nice. Maybe also some automatic image alignment? I can think of lots of improvements!

Needs to support high-res.... You really need to support the eight-megapixel camera on the iPhone 5! Other than that important detail, this is a great app!

Awesome but. It's time to make the screen size to iPhone 5!

Version 4.1 Crashes. Version 4.1 crashes immediately upon starting, just as it prompts for permission to use your location. Unusable.

Photographer. I bought this app for the slow shutter option, but whenever you choose that option it crashes the application. I'm using an iPhone 5s with IOS 7.1

Neat but doesn't work 100%. The slow shutter button app crashes. :( I wish it didn't. Pretty cool app other then that.

My favorite photo taking app.. Love this for water/sky shots. The new update that saves settings is a great improvement. My only suggestion would be add an option for shooting in a 1:1 ratio. Edit: crashing issues for iOS 7 got fixed when updated to iOS 8. Not sure how slow shutter works.

Your DSLR can't do this!. This app is brilliant and works exactly as it's designed to.

Finally an update. Great update

Terrible. Horrible app. Crashes everytime. Had it for two weeks and have been successful only once. Dont waste your money until they update it, which seems like never.

Pointless. I do not get the purpose of this app. it allows you to set a timer and take photo; unless I am missing something - It does not even have the functionality to edit photos?!?!😑

Crashing. !!

Half-baked app. Resolution is low, and it doesn't automatically disable the iPhone screen's auto lock

Horrible.. Buy this app if you want a bunch of fuzzy blurry trash. I wish I could rate it -5 stars. Please help me get my money back. Don't believe me? Try it! I don't write reviews but this is thievery!

Amazing (Please update). Its really great but the only thing is that i have a iphone 5

App crashes before saving on 5S. I think this is related to the app not asking for permission to access my photo library. The app is not listed under Privacy > Photos.

Slow shutter. When you switch to slow shutter mode, it crashes, but everything else is great!
