No midi out or export. Wanted to use this with my hardware ms-20 but no midi support out. Waste of money. Doesn't seem like Korg will add it. The arp and sequencer are very cool what a shame.

Gadget please. Gadget please or a dedicated sequencer, need to sequence

Great App!!!. I own a lot of Korg gear hardware and apps

AUv3?. Come on Korg, a synth really needs to be AUv3 these days. So, just do it already!

Korg Has Done It The Best. High price for an app but definitely a steal. Can I just say one word. MIDI! Put your iPad in an Alesis IOdock and connect a midi device. For example: MAudio keyboard etc. I am surprised they haven’t raised the price on this. The best time to catch it is during the holidays when apps normally go on sale. And thank you so much Korg for the continual updates.

Unmatched. Court is obviously the world leader and synth. The app is brilliantly designed and works seamlessly with the MS 20 controller that came out in the early 2000's. I love the sound, the patchbay, the drums, the sequencer triggering. It is absolutely brilliant.

It brought tears to my eyes. All my life I have struggled with various types music technology, fighting with the software to get it to do what I wanted to do. Nothing was ever smooth and intuitive and allowed me to just be creative. Then I got the iMS20. The workflow and interface are different than anything else I've seen, and it works so well for me. Finally, a tool that does what I want it to! I think of somthing and can just execute it. I can't even explain what this app means to me. It's literally a life changing piece of technology. This all probably sounds silly, but I am so grateful to have it. Some might think its an expensive app, but you really can't put a price on something like this.

Time to update this one Korg. Needs many new things such as Link support ...

Amazing analog-like sounds!. Love this app with a passion. If only it had a sequencer, even a basic one, this would hands down be my go-to synth app. Please consider adding this! : ) The built-in recorder is helpful, but it's very limiting to only be able to record a single track with no quantization. The only way I can use this synth in the context of a multi-track song is to record it live as an audio track into some other PC software, or by recording a single track within the app and importing that track into some other sofware like Ableton Live 8 that allows me to combine it with other sounds and tracks. Limitations can help spur creativity, but in this case it's just too limited in my opinion. Would love to see this app have just a basic sequencer that allows a few tracks to be layered with recorded automation of certain paramaters, like filters. I realize that this is an emulation of a classic synth that didn't have these kinds of features, but I just so badly want to be able to use it within the context of a more modern production style. I'm not a software genius, so maybe I'm overlooking some feature or technique that would help with that I'm trying to do, but I don't think so : / Most of my review is a complaint, but then again praise for it can be found in many other reviews here, and this app deserves all of that praise and more!!

Great sound but problems. theres better. Much could be improved on here, much! Ive worked with much more complex software and synths and the features on this are lacking. Like you cant copy and paste patterns into another pattern, then edit the pattern. You have to manually redo the last pattern you were working on in next pattern, then edit it to make the change if building a song. Plus the worst thing, Ive already written korg about it, no response, and apple, no response, is it doesnt sync with airport. There is a 2 second delay when tweaking a knob so im basically stuck tweaking this through ipad speakers, not the best, nor the whole sound. And this, having only dealt with it a few days. Maybe im wrong, maybe i can find work arounds but at this point its more a pain than fun. But i will still dork and waste my time for now. But improvements could help make music, ie songs faster. And the no syncing is ridic especially since the ms 20 is made for apple, and airport is the device you would use to wirelessly run it through speakers! An actual synthesizer would be less trouble except then id be chained to wires and a computer and have to set it up. Was hoping this would be an ease back into making enjoyable music after a few years off. Time will tell but im not too impressed.

Can no longer share or download sessions. Seems Korg has abandoned this nice app. There used to be awesome templates and shared sessions to collaborate on, but they've disabled or broken that crucial feature. You have to manually re-enter patches, patterns, songs, etc by hand. Just like the 70s! Ugh.

The best👍. Korg the Number 1

Korg. EPIC. worth every penny.

Needs to be AUv3!. Sorry but I don’t use Gadget and never will. It just doesn’t work for me. But your stand-alone synths are awesome and need to be AUv3! Needs to be AUv3!

Not worth it at all. The tempo knob, is not accurate at all, and there’s no way to manually put the tempo in. Massive short coming when you can have a keyboard raise up on your iPad. It does not import into GarageBand, you left to try and make music in their app… is wish I could return this app.

Always The Best. This is a one of a kind treasure. I bought this 5-6 yrs ago and I'm still finding ways to build new awesome synth presets. I may never be able to afford an original tactile analog synth, but this is great compensation. I haven't seen anything like it in the App Store since. There are other VSTs out there, but this one gives the biggest bang for the buck. It has: MIDI a drum sequencer (5 drum voices) a mixer 16 song pads to mix in song mode it has dual oscillators it has patches envelop filters 2 Assignable KORG KAOOS touch pads

KORG keeps it coming. I recently sold my hardware Electribes (EA1, ER1, and ES1) just so I could afford to buy an iPad and get the iElectribe software. It offered me more mobile flexability and the power of a softsynth with the touch of hardware. This release the the MS-20 is heaven sent. It solidified my feeling that I made the right choice. After actually buying it and trying it OH MY GOD this thing ROCKS. I personally use the electribe and now this and after creating patterns I export those and build my tracks on my DAW on my desktop. I own most of the major music apps for iPad and iphone and these 2 are Top 5 and for me made the iPad purchase worth it.

Pluses and minuses, but mostly good. Pluses: • Beautiful GUI. This iOS version has a much better GUI compared to the desktop AU/VST version. Nice icon too :-) • Compatible with the mini MS-20i USB controller keyboard (yes, you can do patching in this synth via the hardware controller). • Great/classic sound ability, x2 synths, and drum sounds. Minuses: • No Korg Gadget integration. • No IAA transport controls. This is a problem with ALL of Korg's apps. • Poor MIDI support, making this more of a standalone audio source, rather than an interactive performance synth. • Lousy sequencer for modern devices. It's fine to mimic old analog sequencers in software, for fun and certain sequencing styles, but not when that's the ONLY option on offer. iDS-10 makes iMS-20's sequencing look like childish, primitive, unusable garbage. iDS-10 and iMS-20 share so much in common that it might have been better for Korg to release an iDS-20 (merging the best of both worlds). • No polyphonic mode. The desktop MS-20 plugin supports polyphony, so there's no reason not to have it here as an option. • Fiddly controls. This is a problem with ALL of Korg's apps, especially Gadget. • No data exchange via email. • No data exchange at all (the Soundcloud integration is absolutely NOT acceptable for patch exchange).

Be careful playing live. It has a "rate me" nag screen that may pop up while you're playing (like it did for me).

Crashes when I try to load new preset. I have a 3-4 year old iPad. Please fix this bug.

It's a MONSTER!. As an owner of several analog hardware synths, I was beginning to doubt if anyone could really make something that satisfied my somewhat refined (picky) demands for the sound of emulated analog synthesis on the iPad. Not trusting that Korg would do the original justice, I hesitated on the hefty price for a long time and waited for a sale. I should have jumped on it sooner. The sounds are inspiring and rich. I haven't yet explored all the features but, even if I just use this to play tracks straight into a DAW, I am happy because it sounds fantastic. Now If a Wavestation app comes out, I will buy it without hesitation confident that Korg will treat their wave sequencing synthesis with the same respect.

Stood The Test Of Time!!!. Still my favorite app after all these years. Sooooo many things you can do with Korg-ims 20 it’s a Great app. Perfect if your a creative person.

Top shelf sounds..... Death of tone and harmonics that this can create is incredible. The only thing I wish it had was the capability of using Tabletop. One of my top apps.

Classic Analog Synthesizer Sound. This is my go to Synth for great sounds like Desert Winds or you can create dual layered leads ,..or deep growling basses. All kinds of risers and explosions are possible,…whatever Crazy sound effects you can imagine ,….you can figure out how to tweak it out of the MS-20.

Korg always leaves me hanging…. Just got this and, I don’t know why I am surprised, but here I am, and this is another great example of a half baked product that the company obviously doesn’t care about maintaining. The interface is not clear and/or easy to figure out, the whole thing is rendering with obvious unintended overlap on the screen of my 2021 iPad Pro 11”, and the user manual does not even appear, when I select it in the menu. This really should be made illegal; if they don’t intend to keep supporting software in the future, a developer should be prevented from being able to sell it, unless there is a given and acknowledged disclaimer that the software will not be touched for maintenance updates. I’m giving it 2 stars because it sounds like it should, but missing 3 stars because the standalone version of the app no longer is functional as a compositional tool, because of obvious neglect by the devs at Korg. I feel VERY disappointed that I threw away $30 on this app. Thanks for nothing, Korg. 👎🏼👎🏼

Fantastic, Just Needs One Thing. In the early 1980a the Korg MS-20 was something of the "poor-musician's: Minimoog. It had a lot of knobs, patch points, and sounded great. The iMS-20 faithfully recreates that instruments with all the knobs, almost all the patch points, and sounds great. But a key selling-point on the original instrument was a feature called ESP--External Signal Processor, which allowed the user to plug in a guitar or microphone and use the synthesizer to process the sound--it even had a pitch-to-voltage converter to use as a controller. The iMS-20 has all these except for a functional and all-important "Audio Input" allowing you to use the ESP features. Hopefully Korg will add this feature in the near future and the iMS-20 will fully live up to its potential (an iMS-50 would be a nice add-on, but not as vital).

New Favorite Instrument!. I use the iMS-20 on my iPad 2. I have several other synth apps, but none I have found offer such a vast combination of sound generation possibilities. This app does it all, if you take the time to learn about this program. The info in the manual is great for beginners, too. With enough knowledge, one can emulate virtually any musical instrument and produce an entire composition from rhythm to lead. This app offers so much for so little, compared to prices of physical synth machines. You can even utilize dual kaossilator pads or a virtual keyboard for live performing or recording. If you make music or are interested in learning how to create electronic beats, this app is a must have. As a newcomer to synthesis, the challenge of understanding, alone, is enough to occupy my focus for hours. My favorite aspect to using this app, are the results I see while merely using the app. Becoming familiar with the array of variations and manipulations available will perhaps keep me entertained and learning for years to come!

UPDATE. Y’all need to update this!! It sounds great and just needs the UI to be redone. It’s pretty hard to use with how it’s designed right now. Also maybe make a mode where you can just use the synth and not have all the groovebox stuff in the way which can get annoying, I just want the synth most of the time, groovebox is nice but when I just want the synth it gets in the way of me just creating sounds.

Korg iMS20. I love everything KORG makes and this app is no exception. My only wish is that it be a little easier to use. I am not entirely new to synthesizers but I am certainly no pro either. I understand that they want to faithfully recreate the MS20 as much as possible, but I don't want to have to get a degree in electrical engineering just to play this synth. I love using the Nintendo KORG DS10 and I just wish this app was as easy to use as that is. I thought after being familiar with the DS10 that this app would be a piece of cake... But it is much more difficult to manipulate, at least for me. It would get 5 stars if it were a little easier to use, amazingly fantastic app otherwise!!!

Faithful to the original hardware. This app undoubtedly captures the pure essence of the legendary MS-20! I've used Korg products for many years and I know their sound very well. This is the most practical way to get "that" sound in an affordable and user friendly way ... period. An amazing tool - so much fun too!!

MIDI is working, nice reproduction of the MS-20. I trigger the iMS-20 from an M-Audio Oxygen 8 v2 via the Camera Connection Kit, through a powered USB hub. This app is also behaving fairly well with AUM. I have sweet spot for all things MS-20 since I grew up with one.

The best ... its simple.. Yep

Why behind the times?. So close...yet not quite there. Why can't you change the pitch of a sequence using the keyboard? Should be a basic feature but still missing. Midi connectivity, link, AB3, still behind the times. This is a great synth and potentially one of the best iOS music apps but you seem to have forgotten about it.

Abandonware. Korg seems to have abandoned this app. No integration into Gadget or Audiounit compatibility.

not install iphone. why im1 install ok iphone. this not ok. give me back my money.

I've had iMS 20 for years, and I still think it's one of the best.. I'm not going to repeat all the rave reviews. Read them—it's all true. One downside: For those new to synths, iMS 20 will most likely be a challenge.

Great app but some glitches. It does not seem to work well with inter-app audio. glitches, saturates and sometimes downright goes into a bizarre continuous sound loop. Please fix.

Nothing compares to this!. I play in a funk duo band called urbanfunkmachine, nothing but this app and a live drummer. Korg, You Guys Rock!!!!!! KORG ims-20 Still #1 app.

Jaw Dropping! Now, add in MIDI.... For starters, let's just hash out the economics of this App. To go out and buy a vintage MS 20 is going to cost you about $2,500 to $5,000 depending on the market and the condition of the synth- then add an extra $1,000 to $3,000 for the hard to find sequencer module and about $500 to $1,000. So, to buy those two components alone you'd have to shill out something between $3,000 to $6,000- that's not counting in the mixer, drum machine and Kaossalator pads which would be a pain to interface with that set of vintage gear. Instead, by buying this, you're getting all of that minus the hassles for 16 bucks. Now, that being said, is this the same as having the actual hardware at your fingertips? No, it's not. But, it is the closest most of us will come to it. The bottom line is that you can't beat this price for vintage monophonic sounds that are like the real deal. This app even goes a step further by giving you the "hands on" feeling of running your own patches. In other words, this is nothing less than incredible! If you're into playing music, DJing or analog synths, this App is an incredible thing at an incredible price. it's so good that you can use it live or in the studio to lay down some heavy quick beats or screaming analog synth riffs. Finally, now that there is MIDI support in iOS 4.2, any chance you'll add MIDI support to this so it can be even more powerful?

Loving it. It sounds great, and you can have a blast messing around. I do wish it could be used as a plug in. They should also find a way to incorporate it into Korg Gadget.

That's what I'm talkin about!. My brain hurts from all I've learned since I downloaded this this morning! And so much more to do. I've played a few acoustic instruments in my day and missed the feeling of creating music now that I'm a tired worn out working stiff. The many toy music apps I've downloaded were nice, but quickly bored me. This thing promises a long adventure, melding music and an oddly-steampunky technology I really love. A patch panel! A billion dials! Blinky lights. I know many of you have had access to synthesizers forever. I'm old enough to remember when the Moog and the Arp came out. It baffled me then, and I never had more than a minute on the showroom floor to puzzle it out. And buying one of my own was never possible. So I forgot about it. Until today. Man, have I missed out. Now I have music, old school tech, and a very tricky puzzle (I like puzzles!). And a lot of new art to listen to from fellow users. Buy this app. Quick. Before the price goes up. If you miss it, buy it AFTER the price goes up. Easily worth it if you're just learning this stuff. BTW, for those having trouble reading the labels, you can set the iPad to zoom with a three finger tap. Just turn on zoom in the iPad accessibility settings. I have bad eyes, but I can read the panels fine in zoom when I need to.

Great synth but limited to MIDI Channel 1. This is a great replica for of the actual mini synth from KORG. Love the way you can remove the keyboard in the UI so you get more space for controls. It's no the best synth for iPad though as it wasn't designed for the iPad or with touch in mind. Thor, Magellan and Sunrizer (probably even Casini) are more 'practical' iPad synths. My extra sourness with iMS20 is the inexplicable and weird limitation to only accept MIDI via Channel 1. This is a turn off. There is absolutely no technical reason why this would be limited to Channel 1. When KORG updates and allows to pick any of the 16 channels I'll update my rating to 4 stars. Right now it's basically useless in my setup. KORG needs to understand the times when iPad was a music making gimmick are gone and most people hook up multiple MIDI devices at once via USB ports or things like iConnectMIDI.

Monosynth Mobile Master's Program. Since the original MS20 (or the mini) isn't really something you carry around and start playing at, say: the airport, or in a car, this app gives you a really close emulation of the synth and a sequencer to experiment with and get astoundingly life-like results. Really impressive app. Great reproduction of panel, sonics, character, and functions/features. When you aren't with your synths, this app furnishes you with limitless and useable synthesis power. I even tried some tricky patches from using the hardware version (namely: the paraphony via sample and hold trick), and it does just what it should. If you're a synthesis dork like me, you'll likely love it. Five star app.

sooo much cooler than all the other synths!!. okay, look. I'm an idiot when it comes to synths, and by looking at the pictures, you'd think this app would be really difficult to understand, but IT'S NOT! I was making my own song within 8 minutes and tinkered with it the rest of the night. and now, I'm even beginning to understand what all those nobs and buttons do! there's only one thing keeping this app back and that is lack of Audio Copy/Paste. in fact, it is kind of a hassle to get your tunes or patterns out of the app and on to your system. you have to use Sound Cloud. why not implement Sonoma Audio Copy/Paste? that way this app can play friendly with my other apps (Studio Track, Multitrack DAW, etc.). anyway, THANK YOU KORG!!!

Outstanding. I own a KORG Triton Extreme so I really don't need this. However, I remember the old days of analog synthesis. This app is much better. KORG is known for making great music production tools that are straight forward and intuitive, this app is no exception. I have one huge request. In a future update PLEASE make this a polyphonic synth. Most other apps of this type are poly. I know you tried to stick to the original format but this is 2010 not 1975. Give the user the choice to switch to poly mode. One additional request, PLEASE make this app Line 6 MIDI Mobilizer compatible AND USB audio compatible with the USB camera connection kit so that it plays well with others. After that.....an absolute stellar 5 STARS!

No AUv3 or ableton link support. Painful to see such a great synth being shoved in closet wearing a hood and having the key for both flushed down the toilet. I hope a teenage mutant ninja turtle finds the programming power to unlock the beast from its shackles to let it play nice in the contemporary world of iOS music production with AUv3 compatibility 🐢

Splendid. A splendid reproduction, and delightful to tinkle with.

Super Sick MS i-Synth! GIVE US Midi SYNC!!!!!. Awesome sound, one of the 1st apps for my iPad Air 1. Awesome sequencer, Drums would be IDEAL if they could be tweaked LIVE.... However this app would rule if it had Midi I/O. How hard can it be to add this feature? Every other iSynth has it... I have had iMS20 for over a year, still use it, glad to see it was recently updated for bug fixes etc, ya forgot one feature ....THE Midi!!! Sorry, WIST doesn't cut it... It's toy technology. If I could Sync this w/ Hardware I would add it to the table and not just record 4 bar loops for other apps/gear to play with. I ain't buying the hardware, the beauty of this is the state saving. I run the out into an analog filter. Anyway, big fan never the less. Korg rules - SD4000 delay, Toneworks, Microkorg, (2) ElectribeR, EMX, monotron Delay... All that. Sup' son?

Great Sounding, but needs modern features. . .. First off, this is a fantastic sounding model of the MS-20. It is very well implemented and does what it does well. The sequencer is a little cumbersome, in an old school analog way, but very functional for what it does. My only gripes are that Korg needs to add standard features for modern iOS synths. These features include: Audiobus support, background audio, and virtual MIDI. If these were added, this app would be 5 star and I could recommend it without hesitation. As it is, it's a good app if you don't mind making music in Korg's walled garden. UPDATE: THANK YOU KORG FOR LISTENING! Now with background audio and Audiobus, this is one of the best synths for iOS! FIVE STARS!!

No AB3 and very poor Midi Options. It’s virtually impossible to use a controller with this app other than the built in keyboard. You can’t send Midi to it, which is whole reason I bought it. Why is Korg so far behind the times.

Great app. I purchased this to make music like fl studio I have to say, this is tons better than FL Studio You have much better controls It is also really engaging and a great app

korg. this app is great if u know how to use it to its full potentual i have only had one problem and that is it use to play export songs on the ipad but for some reason it has stopped doing so

Rocking. Awesome sounds. Takes me back to my early synth days / daze. Top stuff.

Fantastic, especially in Gadget. I adore this app, both stand alone and in Gadget, highly recommend. I just wish the song mode in standalone allowed more than one synth part, and also AUv3 support so I can use it in Cubasis and other apps.

Grab this now. Too many features to mention. Great synth just like the real one. Sequencer and drum machine all make sense. Congrats to the developer. When will you convert the M1?

Unbelievably awesome. Sometimes an app comes along that basically makes you want to buy a whole new ipad just to dedicate to the program. THIS is one of those apps. Seriously if you haven't bought this app there is something wrong with you :)

Pricey but brilliant!. Finally got around to raking out 35 bucks for this app, and I am very happy with it. Midi works very well, which is very important since touch screen keyboards will only ever let you do so much. Can't wait to fully understand the ins and outs of this app. Hopefully KORG won't take to long to update it for the retina display on the 3rd gen iPad! That would make all the little bits of writing on the front of the synth look much clearer and easier to read/control. Nice work!

Fully Rad !!!. Top class app from korg, i have hooked it up with my electribe emx - wow lovin it - sound cloud is fantastic always inspiration. Does anyone know the best way to pick this up, its pretty complex ? Its like back to the future ! Mad synth !

No.1 App. My most loved ipad app. Hands down.

Make the gadget version work on the iphone!. Hey Korg, I bought this for my iPad to use in gadget. Let us use the gadget version on the iphone Edit- I just tried your ‘ remote install ‘ suggestion and it worked flawlessly, I’m impressed Korg! Thanks.

Simply the best. This was the first music app I bought. I had no synth experience at all and only modest music skills. But within a couple of hours I had enough grasp of the screens to create my own unique music. I am still making discoveries after six months and no other music app enables me to create my own mood, from heavy to light, complex to simple, soundscape to pounding bass, jazz to funk, zero to no limit! I bought I electribe as well but find it just too "clubby". I also love the black and white no nonsense presentation of ms20. The sound cloud sharing is fantastic, and song bounce to i tunes is simple and easy to use. I like my stuff so much i have my own collection of korg CDs to drive to! Plus you can put tracks into mixtikl and create immense ambient tracks. It's worth the price and more.

Awesome synth AND music app. If there's a fault with this app I've yet to find it. Superb emulation of classic synth (I bought the hardware version because of it), sequencer, drum machine, mixer, effects - actually a mini-studio. Unlike some apps, it has been (so far) well-supported thru OS changes, etc. Runs like clockwork on my iPad 4 - I wish everything else was this reliable! An emphatic two thumbs-up.

Out of date and has bugs. This app last had an update 2 years ago. The user manual does not work and the preset selection does not indicate what you have touched. This app needs updates for IOS15.

Great. Wow. This app will be keeping me very entertained. I'm using this as a complete newbie and have managed to make some sounds and have had some success exploring the multitude of settings. Very steep learning curve, but that's part of the fun I guess. You experiment and see if you can make something cool.

Simply unbelievable !!!. I downloaded this based on my very good experience with the iElectribe. I'm not familiar with this synth in it's original form, so I truly can't comment on authenticity - but after simply fiddling with it for a short while I can say is is very impressive. Incredibly complex - yes. Fun to play with - yes. Sounds good - yes. Practical - who cares. Certainly worth the intro price - I probably would have waited for others to comment if it had been full price. Kev

To good to be an app.. Initially purchased for drum loop creation. It is taking me on a full musical journey... so much to learn in the world of synth sound quality is amazing.. a real tool for expressing ideas once you learn how to use it... and so much fun love it.

No midi sync. Fantastic app but no midi sync to hook it up to your favourite DAW. Thats disappointing though you can do lots without a midi sync connection. How good would it be WITH ONE!

Good fun. I bought this after reading some reviews, and it is a lot of fun. I would like it to have a few more stock standard templates but this could be because it is new, and the templates and cloud connect will grow. So, hours of fun already had during boring airport and train transits in south east Asia. Even had some of the locals listening , great. App!

Smooth. Great app with plenty on offer. Very worth it if you know what you are doing :)

Great app. This is a great musical instrument app. It takes a while to get your head around the controls, but once you have done so you have a great sounding and fun machine. For me the Kaoss pads are what makes is so cool and fun to use. Before you know it your dreams of playing grooving acid tunes on the beaches of Goa will be fulfilled, well at least in your head!

Yep - it. You're getting a Korg for 39 bucks. Awesome, and way better than the other amateurish no-name soft synths out there.

Best music app ever. When I saw this app the other day I was deciding wether to get it or not because I only had $22 dollars on my account but after I saw this apps RRP was $32 I had to get it or I never would of. So after a few hours playing around with it I was making so nice little beats this app is so worth the money get it now or risk the price of $32 but even that price is ok for something so incredible. I recommend this app to anyone who wants to make some of the best sounds and spend hours on just one app.

Great expectations not met...yet. I had great expectations for this synth...having bought lots of others from the App Store...I thought and hoped that getting one which replicates a blast from the past would wow me with a fantastic range of sounds, samples, tracks and effects. And, although I have a long way to go learn this synth...it would be nice to have a much bigger range of starter sounds, drums, tracks and effects.

Wow.. First impressions was : iPad app, how good could it be? Post first impressions : Wow. Not a massive synth head but even I'm impressed. It's easy to use, responsive touch. Only gripe is that the learning curve for those who have never used music apps such as this is steep. Recommend the Korg iElectribe, which is pretty much 1/3rd the content, but still really awesome to play around on. Think of this app as the advanced version. Defs 5/5.

very cool. Simple, intuitive, powerful and FUN!!! Thankyou Korg for taking the iPad seriously as a music creation tool!

Fantastic!!!. The best music creation app I've used on the Ipad. The only real improvement would be the ability to create more patterns. Please make pattern banks in next update. A, B, C & D. Thanks in advance.

Great app, needs an update.. I really liked playing around with this app for hours on end. It was great sequencing sounds together to make a track and being able to warp drum sounds was fun. Currently doesn't work with iOS 7. Hopefully will by launch.

Simply awesome. Best app for making music but crashes in iOS 8 so had to restore back to 7.1.2. Korg, please update!!!!

Amazing.... This is just a superb app. It both sounds and looks great. It's complex for a non expert like me, but definitely learnable, and super fun to muck with ;) Buy it.

Love it but... Korg oh korg my favourite synth company PLEASE implement midi note out so I can move these ideas into other programs to refine or use with other synths!

Refuses to launch. It doesn't work at all on my ipad

Love this more than the hardware version. Fantastic fun. I write whole tracks, using the iMS20 alone. It is old school and a challenge to get your head around, but worth it for the gorgeous sounds and music it can produce.

Fun. Good old fashioned fun at a good price, thank you korg, make more apps please.

Brilliant!!!. I was cynical about this, at first... thinking there would be little more to it than gimmicky virtual patch chords, a la Reason, a bit of faffing about with knobs, and a whimpy sound. I was so wrong, this is very deep and incredibly flexible, mostly due to the addition of the sequencer. Absolutely not for the novice synthesist... but for those experienced, it can be very, very rewarding... and the sound quality? Superb! My only criticism, if I had to find one, is that editing "drum" sounds (which don't necessarily need to be drum sounds at all btw) outside of the sequencer gives you a false impression of their sound due to the additional sound modifiers (pitch, gate etc.) within the sequencer itself, modifiers which aren't applied when in edit mode. This is irritating, and means you have to kind of guess what your changes will sound like when you leave edit mode and go back to the sequencer. If there was a way to edit sounds in the context of the sequencer, and not in isolation, but also in the context of "the mix" then this would be a perfect, and amazing app... but honestly, I'm not sure I can think of a way to implement this anyway, unless there was simply a button to activate or deactivate this kind of edit "mode".

YUS!. Amazing.

Doesn't work. Broken since ios 8

KORG Does it again and again.... When I found out that KORG had brought out another app I may have waited one tenth of a millisecond to decide to get it... Sorry KORG... If you thought that iElectribe was good wait until you get into this app. Sounds fantastic So complex Love that you can piggy back some jacks. I also have the KORG DS10 and together you can mix some Very interesting sounds. I just need another iPad so I can run iElectribe just for fun! Any chance of MIDI for the iMS-20? Can think of so many reasons why you should. I use it on other synth apps and really lifts the experience to a whole new level.

Real Fun. Well i Need to say, really nice tool to make incredible music. With fun factor too, so be fast and buy it ;-))))

Fantastic app!. Sounds are gorgeous, interface is impeccable. I used to play with the real thing a (long) while back .Well worth the price. Well done Korg! Highly recommended.

Could be brilliant, not there yet.. Great fun, great sounds, could be the best music app but needs copy and paste for the patterns. Portamento for the drum machine synth would be nice, as well as effects on the kaoss pad for the drum synths. Adding Midi clock sync would also greatly improve this app, as well as the ielectribe app.

Fantastic. A fun crazy music makin' party machine Lots of tweaking fun! My only wish is for a longer sequencer for the synth part

The more I use it, the more I fall in love. Seriously, this is daunting as all hell in the beginning. But as you use it, and start to figure it out it gets better and better… and better. Truly Fantastic.

Latency .... Latency. Very nice app and sound really good but latency is too high. I am using an iPad mini retina with latest iOS 9. Not so great for keyboard player because of latency unfortunately.

Analog fun. Lots of features, sound great, hands on experiences. Cool app.

Only 16 bit, 44.1 KHz otherwise great. Because this is a digital synth, it will never be a true representation of the analog synth's continuous signal. But what is worse is that it outputs at 16 bit, which is even less accurate of the true sound. 44.1khz, while standard for CD quality, would have been better at 96 kHz to increase the sampling rate of the waveforms being output and allow for better DSP in other DAWs..

I think im in love. Liked it so much i end up getting the real thing, hoping for a polysix remake now ! And some new app

Blam!. In one fell swoop, Korg has destroyed their competition. The best salespeople are educators. Korg has adopted the role of teacher - both in reiterating electronic history, and combining it with cutting edge sequencing techniques. The MS20 is a formant modelling analog synth. The Kaoss pad is an improvising sequencing beast. add the 2 together, you have Hundreds of dollars worth of gear for under 20$ already patched together properly. The original MS20 is used by William Ørbit, Aphex Twin, Hardfloor, Air, SkyLab, Stereolab, Vince Clarke, Astral Projection, Biosphere, Apollo 440, Mr. Oizo, Jimi Tenor, The Prodigy, OMD, Freddy Fresh, Luke Vibert, Einstuerzende Neubauten, Add N to (X), Daft Punk, Coldcut, Die Krupps, Skinny Puppy, Electronic Dream Planet, Jimmy Edgar, Front 242, Front Line Assembly, The Legendary Pink Dots, KMFDM, Severed Heads, Royksopp, The Faint, The Shamen, Jean-Michel Jarre, and Portishead. At the 2010 Shambhala (western canadas largest party, burning man north) Beardyman used 2 Kaoss pads with rave reviews. The exciting thing is the availability of making cutting edge sound in a dynamic fun way. My non musical friends can write beats I can improvise off just by playing with 2 xy Kaoss pads. Features: 1) Monophonic synth with 3 parameter controls, 3 voltage controls. The voltages can be patched to the patching bay to give a stunning array of multilayered multi-filtered effects. Parameters control individual settings on the synth. Instead of sequencing many parts, only one part is sequenced, the rest of the tones are generated from the original pattern. 2) 6 Drum patterns. Each drum can be manipulated in much the same way as the synth, ie HPF LPF 2x OSc, 3 modulators, and adsr but there are no parameter and voltage sequences. Very easy to create a beat using Kaoss pads to sequence. BOth synth and drums have sequenced pitch octave gate volume and panning. 3) each channel has its own Fx assignment [short/bpm delay, 2 reverbs, chorus/flanger, eq, compressor, lofi distortion, lpf/hpf/bpf, wah, decimator, grain shifter] and there is an overall fx send on the mixer, again with each channel having its own wet/dry This will be an absolute delight for anyone familiar with synthesis modelling and analog gear. dream come true. The patching bay can be tricky, i recommend downloading the manual for the original ms20 to get familiar with it. So far, easiest fastest way to get relevant current sounding synths, BEAUTIFUL deep intelligent bass, Super danceable intuitive rittims - of any instrument or program that i have ever seen. If anyone from Korg reads this, consider this my formal application for sponsorship so i can review and try any new stuff you have coming up :P

Pricey but worth it. Hard to use till u get the hang of it. Not as hard as fl studio mobile witch is like half the price but this I can do so much more still getting use to this but I want to change and advance in making electro and this will do it for when I'm on the go.

Ios8. It doesn't work with ios8 yet hopefully there will be an update soon really good app when it works

It works!!. My usb keyboard didnt work at first make sure no other apps use your keyboard in the background or reboot your device!!!!

Well . . .. I am a bit disappointed. I really expected that when I leave one setup and go to a preset that the synth would reconfigure. The problem is it does not, so if you messed up one patch it affects the next one loaded. I reinstalled it and it still does the same thing. Loading a new patch in my view should load all the variables, not just some of them. Again as with almost all of these music apps, the sound is thin when hooked up to a mixer and good speaker / amp combo. There is some serious bottom end that simply is not there. iPad pre-amp problems?? Who knows. We'll never know. The iPad does everything half decent, but nothing expertly. I think they are spreading it too thin. If they had awesome sound it would surely cost a lot more, but is that not what musicians want?

Just one more thing. One more thing would make this app perfect - support for USB midi keyboards and controls via the camera connection kit that is built into IOS 4.2. This feature should be standard across all iPad music apps moving forward, in my opinion. Please consider this, Korg. Otherwise, this IS the synth app I have been waiting for - I love the interface and depth of the sounds possible with it.

Amazing!. It is a great app for making music even for beginners or people who have never even used a synthesizer.

Addition of MIDI device support makes this a killer app. I initially thought this app was nothing more than a toy--albeit, a really great sounding one--but the latest 1.1 update to support CoreMIDI changes everything. The app connected flawlessly with an Akai LPK-25. I can now use it live. With dual Kaoss pads on-screen. Simply amazing. Five stars!

Wow. This app is incredible - everything about it is right. From the way it has been translated to a touch screen, to the way it works, the features/functions it provides and the quality of sound it produces. The overall quality of this app is exceptional, and for a 1.0.0 release, the author deserves congratulations (and I've not encountered a single bug/flaw yet). This app (actually, the synthesizer it reproduces) is not a novice instrument, but if you want to learn about synthesis and get into it, this would be the best choice. If anyone has issues with things like how it may not be easy to set values exactly and super quickly, nudge them, then read the manual, there are little tricks that make that super easy. Basically, the vintage analog equipment it emulates is intuitive and very full featured, and the iPad implementation of it is also just as intuitive and user friendly, and a joy to use. Well done.

Incredible!. The depth of that app/synth is simply incredible. Only talent and available time can be the limiting factors here. A must have. Thanks for that great app.

Amazing synth a MUST buy!. There’s nothing quite like it on the app store. Incredible depth of sounds, sequencer and even analogue drums! Get this synth!

Floored. What can i say. this app completely changed the way i thought about the ipad and its role in electronic music production. Yep i wont be selling my analog synths anytime soon but. You want a a guerilla electronic music busking device and this flat out is amazing. This app a boombox or portable pa and just drop it any place and drop jaws. You get a extremely good representation of the classic korg ms 20. twin chaos pads that can be used in tandem to trigger notes or arp patterns. a analog modelling drum machine . i mean capable sequencer the list goes on and on. When i first booted this up i was not expecting much but within a few minutes i was left scratching my head. How did we get to the point where these is so many possibilities in a tiny unit that takes up almost no real estate in your studio. I have only scratched the surface of this app due to time constraints but it is truly a break through for artists on a budget who own a ipad. I mean yeah ok its not a bang on representation of the spikey filtered classic korg but its pretty darn close. We must also remind ourselves back in the day we would have had to spent as much as a good used corvette to own the real versions of this. I also felt this app was the first app i used where i did not feel like i was playing a video game to make music. it is a excellent tool for beginners to learn the basic concepts of subtractive synthesis with. it is also a amazing device for a well versed electronic musician to slip in their backpack or take in a aircraft carry on to work on music with. with the addition of midi being possible this is also a totally usable musical instrument for stage studio or what ever you imagination wants from it. amazing.

Solid sound. The app is starting to show its age, unfortunately, but there are tons of awesome sounds on board and it's an excellent introduction to semi-modulars. I was AMAZED how well it handles feedback patches (plug "headphone out" into the signal processor, crank the gain and run it back to "ext in"). I still come back to this often.

Key dude. Luv it

Incredible. Wow. What a great app. The synth alone is great, but really comes to life using the sequencer. For non-purists the Kaoss-effects are fun to play with, but honestly, the reason to buy this is the MS-20. If you like tweaking your synth, and know a little about synthesis, this is for you. Incredibly done, thanks, Korg!

Suggestions. Awesome sounds. I have a couple of requests, though. Can you make it polyphonic? I know the original is not, but it would make chords possible. Also, can you use the input from a guitar ( eg via iRig)?

Bravo.

Fun app.... ...but pretty pricy if you're not a Korg synth geek. I feel like a bit of a doofus for paying full price about 10 days ago. Should've been smart enough to wait for the (I suspect) "response to GB" sale. Damned impulse buy!

Working again in iOS 8. A bit late to the party, but it's good to have this working again.

Forget the easy to use DAWs. I love this software. I got tired of these "press this button to make music" apps. Those are just glorified games. This is perfect emulation of the famous synth. Now I have a chance to master this equipment without emptying my wallet. It's perfect recreation of how music is done in the analog world, down to the patch cables. This has great educational value too as it will make things easier for those who are focused on digital production as it is essentially based on analog algorithms. Thanks a lot KORG!

Just ok. there is no midi or inter app audio instrument support. This app is old and dusty. Korg's aversion to good midi support is disappointing.

The bomb!!!!. The bomb!!!!!

iPad pro crush after SoundCloud loading screen. iPad pro crush after SoundCloud loading screen. Please update for iOS 9 and iPad pro.

This is incredible. This app is amazing, seriously korg, if you continue this way with those great apps I will need a korg branded iPad.

Bad investment. This application is not useful at all. Dont Buy it its not worth the investment. No vst.. Nothing

iOS 8. This apps worked find ,link most of Korg apps, until I installed iOS 8. It seems the program jumps out when asked to open. Anybody experiencing the same issue.thanks to help. I tried shutting down the ipad, reloading the software, nothing works for now.

Absolutely Awesome. Worth every penny and then some!

Works great for me. Bought it a few days ago. I have an iPad 1, with the latest update, and the latest software update, it works just fine. Tons of features, tons of stuff to do with this emulator. If you are at all interested in emulated synths, picks this up. Especially before the price doubles.

Simply Amazing!. I have several music apps that I love including Animoog, Filtatron, Korg Electribe, iKaossilator, Garage Band and NanoStudio but iMS-20 is my all-time favorite! I was hesitant spending $32 on a app but I did and have not regretted it! It's got a great drum machine and Kaoss pads too! I have not read the help guide yet, I'm sure that will open many new doors but I was able to jump right in and start making some cool beats.

Almost perfect. Please korg give us the freedom to assign midi channels. I play my synth apps in combination with my actual keyboard patches through a midi controller. I really have to go out of my way live to use my korg apps. Not fun and very stressful. I am still giving this five stars because the synth engine is still amazing. Sequencer is just awesome.

Oldanalogfan. I'm an old analog synth fan & nothing really replaces the ability to reach out and twist a knob, but...I think this app rocks! I've never used the KAOSS pads before and now I love them. Sounds great, and is a good virtual implementation of the knob twisting experience- with the added ability to implement new digital improvements. I can hardly put it down Improvements: 1. Help file is a little unclear on assigning functions to wheel & pads. 2. Wish I could zoom the sequencer panel as well for easier fine adjustments. 3. MIDI!!!!! 4. Ability to route the output of other iPad audio apps to the external input for processing. 5. Help file- What can I really do with the external input? Does the external input use the built in mic? Or is is just a graphic to accurately mimic the original physical synth?

Really...Damn...Amazing..... if you know your way around a synth, this will satisfy your needs to the brim. even when they do bump it up to 30 bucks its worth it. (and no i dont work for korg) the only thing i can see that need to be added is a copy and paste feature. i am mainly making music in nanostudio (when not in my real one (yes i know im an addict and i am getting help). if they just added the "copy to pasteboard" feature after a bounce this thing would be 100% not just 99.. also more presets never hurt anybody.

Very good MS-20 emulation, but sequencer is frustrating to use. Excellent for “previewing” sounds that I might try on my MS-20 Mini while I’m away from it. Ability to zoom on the knobs on the synth is a huge plus, as it makes them MUCH easier to adjust. However, lack of ability to zoom on the knobs in the sequencer section make sequencer edits a frustrating experience.

One of the best music apps on the market.. Korg are definitely doing things right with iOS applications. This is a faithful rendition of the original MS-20 with some (really cool) added features like 2 Kaoss pads to control variables, audio export and easy session save. The interface takes a moment to understand and if you've never used an analog sequencer it can be confusing. But with a little practice it's a lot of fun and sounds amazing for what it is (note - it does not sound as good as a real analog MS-20). Best music app on the market thus far (even better than the iElectribe).

If I can just figure out how it works. I am an acoustic musician, so this intrigues me. Playing around you can see the depth of sound and ability to manipulate it. It will take a while to figure out, and definitely requires a reading of the manual if you are unfamiliar with synthesizer technology. Phenomenal app at killer price. Get it now!

Not for beginners. You can do lots with this, intact you can even write entire albums with this if you like. It's not necessarily EASY to use, but nothing in life is easy. I've never experienced any crashes, so that's a plus. Wish Theresa's some sampling, but for what it is, it's amazing on its own, much more capable than one would thing.. It could probably do with some updating, like, in all honesty, I don't care wether it looks like the authentic synthesizer or not, if it looked different, but was more practical for live performance, then heck yeah! (I say at least) but whateva, this is an amazing app by itself!

Amazing. Props to Korg for an incredible app! I love music like radiohead and boards of canada and this is perfect. My only request would be that you can record sessions if its not already possible. I look forward to future updates and as is this is easily the best music app ive seen so far. Second favorite music program after ableton, but the great thing about this is that it is touch screen and on the ipad with tons of features. Cheers!

This is sick!. The best analog experience yet! Looks, sounds and feels so satisfyingly authentic. Dirty, punchy, expressive. Great feature set. Drum step sequencer feels great, the "tactile" sound designing infectious. The Kaoss performance record feature is the clincher; while short, it allows for unique flourishes to the compositions, humanizing and personalizing the otherwise inevitable "programed machine" sound to beat boxes. Soundcloud sharing is cool, but sharing presets with the Korg Legacy VST version would make this a pro level app and is at the top of my wish list for an update.

IMS-20. @ Ben K. Just get the camera connector kit for Midi. Then hook up your keyboard to it. I enjoy this classic Synth. I could use a little help with using the sequencer, any tips. To Dev: please port out the Mo1. Korg has the best apps so far with this and I Electrovibe . This is meant to be mono , one hand to play one to tweak those knobs. Are other synths coming soon...... Hint Hint :) P.S. The original users guide circa '78 can be found online. The MS 20 did not come with the sequencer

Powerful but not to the level I hoped. It's not a toy but it's not a full blown musical instrument yet. It needs a few things. First it need to be pressure sensitive. I figured it was iPad limitations but the iPad is pressure sensitive. It needs sequence editing for the main synth, especially since it's triggered by default for some reason. This prevents me from being able to set up a basic beat and just play around with the synth, because it's always getting triggered. And finally it doesn't cme with nearly enough presets. That's my feed back. Pressure sensitivity is a really big deal for taking this app from great toy, to actually musical instrument.

Soundcloud crash bug. I'd give it 5 stars if sound cloud wouldn't constantly crash. Everything else about the app is OUTSTANDING! Takes a little bit to get used to, but much more user friendly then most other synth apps. Yet, for 32 dollars, this crash shouldn't happen. Fix the crash bug... And I'll fix my star rating. Also, I know writing that complaint here will do no good. You have to contact the app programmer. Most people think that by writing it in here the designers will magically see it. Ehhh, enough ranting. This really is a great app. Well worth the money for what it can do. I still have to see what happens wen I hook it up to my iRIG. But I'm sure ill be astonished from that as well.

Awesome, but how do you turn off effects?. By far, my favorite synth on ipad. I actually prefer this mono over my many poly synths. It is a very good sounding engine. Also fun to use for any level synth player yet very deep for more advanced sound designers. Question though, does anyone know how to turn off effects? Please don't tell me to read the manual, I have. Please don't tell me to turn off the effects section under the button labeled effects, I have. Is there something else (different) I might have overlooked? Jerzey devil, nice heavy handed advice. It surely increases my opinion of you.

Big. One of the best. Still the best. Updating my review for newest update. If you can afford this synth it's pretty much an all in one package. If your new to synthesis check out discord explain the ins and outs of using this great app on YT. There is a reason this synth is still relevant 40 years after the hardware. If you can't drop $2k on the real deal $20 is a lot easier to handle. Pricey but it will never leave my iPad. Even if I don't use it all the time. This is still a benchmark not only for ios but all virtual instruments on any platform. Korg got it right from the start thats why it stays.

Hands Down the Best. This app is a BEAST! I held off on buying it for a while and tried my hand at cheaper (and much weaker) synth apps. None of them hold a candle to what this one is capable of. It's easy to use, fun, versatile and good for the hobbyist or the pro. I composed my first track on it in a day and can't wait to port it over to Logic for more layers and tweaks. This one is worth every penny, folks. Don't mess with the rest... Get the best!

Be careful. Bought this over a year ago and I'm just now getting around to making some sounds worth uploading! It's got a heck of a learning curve but if you've already got the skills this is an amazing studio app! If not there are plenty of helpful tutorials on the web. All in all the interface is gorgeous, the sounds are fantastic, and the tools are great!

The first serious synth app.. Make no mistake...this is a serious synth app. Even if you have a lot of synth experience, you'll find that the possibilities are deep. Cross-connects, serious step-sequencer and fully configurable Kaoss pads(2) make this a tweaker's dream. I can't wait to see what is done with this one by the pros. Just know, that to get the juicy sounds, you really have to work at the settings. Don't count on the presets to get you by. Fantastic.

Unbelievable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Hi I have been around electronic music since the 90's and have been searching for some piece of technology that would allow me to be creative without thinking too much about how to make it work. Cubase then a 20 min no thanks on logic almost droped 20k on pro tools cubase again well look here reasons trying still not cubase novation abelton see........... This is the coolest music tech I have ever used within 5 min I was trying to figure out how to record...it is so amazing ! Thank you all of the people who made this happen u too apple! Still trying to rationalize how to accept the fact that you are collecting data on people without consent but this app is amazing on the iPad so thank u

Tired of waiting for iOS 8 compatibility...was. Two weeks and counting...deleting this once fun and great sounding synth that has now become an expensive waste of space. This lack of consumer support has kicked Korg off my hardware wish list as well. Lots of better tools out there anyway. So long, Korg! Okay, soooo glad this is back up and running, but still have hard feelings. I had to really scramble to program other apps to replace this while it was down, so only giving 3 stars for this fantastic sounding synth and musical tool; maybe time will help me forget being jilted for so long.

This is the synth app I was waiting for!. Great. I bought electribe which was fantastic. This makes good on the promise of korg ds-10 and then some. Ui is very important to me. And this ui is interesting, fun, gorgeously rendered, and has multiple zoom levels for even better navigation. Get this app right now. It's amazing and makes the iPad a musical tool like no other!

This app is the bomb!. This app was my introduction to the world of synths, sequencers and drum machines. It's spare, retro minimalist visual interface is starkly beautiful and amazingly functional. The tone is rich and gorgeous. The built-in effects sound fantastic and allow to create some incredible soundscapes. I will say that learning to control the power of this app takes time… but iMS-20 will reward you for your efforts. After almost 3 years of continual use, I am still discovering new techniques. I have learned so much from using this app and the music I've been able to create is beyond what I though I could do. I highly recommend the iMS-20 by KORG!

Love it.. Well worth the price. This synth is killer although I would love a poly option as other have asked. To the previous reviewer, you can go to the iPad setting and enable zoom under the general category. Then with any app double tap 3 finger and you'll zoom in.

Best iOS synth out there. I love this synth. I was considering getting the hardware version but thought I'd try this before shelling out the money. The presets are great but the real fun comes with making your own and experimenting. There is definitely a learning curve and it certainly helps to know what the knobs and patches are for but, you'll figure it out just tweeting around. People have things to say about Korgs pricing and whatnot but the fact of the matter is its worth every penny. Amazing sound and endless modulation are what this app is all about.

Really quite good, but without poly and ability to zoom; it's difficult. I'm pretty young, with good vision. I love analog synths. This is missing a few key things. Poly, and zoom ability. The controls are so small. I find it impossible to read the ui. Zoom is a must. Also line 6 midi and camera connection kit compatible. Then this would be a usable tool. It would be incredible actually. I love it, I just don't love how limited to ui is. Please fix and I will update my rating.

Hard to believe but true. There are thousands of "music" apps in the app store, but relatively few apps with which to make music. This is one of the few apps I will fire up with my iPad to actually record something worth keeping. Easily worth the money, IMO.

Excellent! Now give us the Wavestation please!. Dear Korg, Well done! Quality stuff here for sure but there are no shortage of great analog emulations out there right now. How about some of your digital classics? I'd buy those in a heartbeat. How about the DW8000? Heck, even the Poly800 would be great! Even better would be the DSS-1! What would really make my year though would be to see the Wavestation show up on here! Please consider this...........soon!

Yes it's a beast but much room for improvement. I second most of what all the five star reviews state about the sound and emulation of the real deal. Not a five star app tho... The interface is great but could use some improvement: Sensitivity (or lack thereof) of the buttons on top of screen can get aggravating. would love to be able to choose to hear the sequenced part while editing a sound during playback as opposed to the simple one note repeated. That's handy before you've sequenced anything and auditioning parts but after you've sequenced the part? Useless and flawed. Can't unsolo synth track if you've left the synth edit screen Still locked to 1 synth part and 6 drum parts which is only deceptively limiting. You should be able to designate if a part should be handled as a synth part or a drum part.. They both can load, play and edit the same sounds anyway.. This aspect is really awkward IMO.

Truly astonishing. My draw drops open in pure wonderment every time I use this synth. I am a musician, and fairly adept with old analog synths, but you need not even know how to play any music to enjoy this app...especially with the touch pad...you just pick a key and a scale and go nuts. Really, I can't sat enough good things. Buy this while it's still half price!

One day I'll own a ms-20 until then.... First off if your looking for something thats easy to use forget it! This replicates the MS-20 Korg has graciously allowed their app to save your settings unlike the original where you'd need to keep a patch-book handy so you could mark where how you made that neat sound, but I digress. The amount you can do with this app is fantastic! It's worth every cent!

Oh my!!!!!!!. This is truly an amazing tool. I am by no means a music producer. More like a techno buff, and long time drummer. I started by getting a 909 app, then rebirth, then a couple of the other Korg apps. All of these on their own are good fun, but then decided to step up to the big boy. At first I was intimidated by all the features wrapped into this app, but after an hour or two of playing around, I was starting to compose my own tracks. The synth was easy to use, especially with chaos pads. There is soooooooo much to this. I can't wait to dive in deeper This is is absolutely woth the price. Now I'm thinking about picking up another iPad to take advantage of the w.i.s.t functions. If you have any sort of musical backround, and are on the fence about buying, stop thinking about it and just buy it.

Great fun. Have played with this a few days making some beats, having a great time. The set up is pretty easy, though I've read some people have trouble, I'm sure there has to be tons of material on the web on this machine since it's many years old.

This is my second review, and its a request.. I would very much like it if you guys could make an OASYS Analog Synthesizer for the iPad. It would be really nice to not have to spend $8,500 for your BEST keyboard (which it is) and plus it's been discontinued so now no one can bye one new if they want which is a great reason to make an app for it because you won't loose any $ from people getting the app instead of the hardware. So, just a thought.

Great job, Korg!. As a longtime music synthesis professional who recently purchased his first iPad, I have been picking up all of the serious iOS synth apps from Korg, Moog, NI, Propellerhead, etc. Most of the apps are okay but limited. The iMS-20 is the only one that strikes me as a seriously powerful and professional synthesizer. Granted, I bought it when it was on sale for 50% off, otherwise I might have docked it a star or two for the price, but I am extremely happy with my purchase. It is now my go to iOS synth.

Good. This may be great for those that have a need for nostalgia. The interface is too cluttered for any sized Ipad. What this synth needs is a 21st century kick, especially in the sequencer section. This probably good if you are a sound designer looking for that next synth sound that everyone will try to copy. I just think its a little ridiculous to try to implement something like this on an iPad. There should be an option for better workflow views vs. a virtual synth look. I don't want to spend time trying to figure out ancient tech on a 21 century ipad. What this does accomplish: emulation. Just be prepared to spend some time learning the machine. In short: Great sounding synth in need of a 21st Century sequencer.

Don't leave us hanging, KORG!. iMS-20 is positively amazing. There are an infinite number of possibilities for this app, and I look forward to jamming out on it for years to come. That said, I NEED MORE!!! KORG, you've got to capitalize on this early success with a few more apps. Personally, I'd love to see the Wavestation (especially the original!) hit the App Store. If it was designed with the same mind-blowing quality of iMS-20, you could charge whatever you want and I'd pay it!

This is what I'm talking about. Korg is doing what the others aren't doing! Making high quality professional apps for iPad! Now I am waiting on microsampler and wave station! This app was an immediate purchase. I recommend it for synth tweakers worldwide! The sound cloud sharing is cool stuff as well. I'll buy every korg app that comes out at this rate!

Fantastic recreation and worth every penny. Great synthesizer with some really amazing features. It would take a book thick enough to choke a mule to describe all that can be done with it. Wish it had a way to reset everything to the defaults (maybe it's there and I just don't know it). Needs to have a support for a double-tap on a knob to reset it to the original setting, as with the NLog Synthesizer.

Amazing synth.. I have an MS20 which I love and this is a pretty faithful emulation of that and would be worth every penny if that was all it did. Adding the KAOSS Pad control really expands the control over this venerable old synth. The drum machine, sequencer and mixer really make this app standout. This is rapidly on it's way to becoming my favorite music app on the iPad.

Korg iMS-20 ROCKS!. This app is AWESOME! I almost went out and bought the MS-20 mini, but heard about this app and saved $570. It is not too hard to learn just open your ears and practice, practice, practice. Like any other skill, if you play at it, you will eventually succeed. Within a couple of hours I had developed a nice backbeat for an upcoming video project. I am ecstatic about this. Thank you, Korg!

Took a chance, works great!. Just downloaded this and I am not having the crashing issue that other users are reporting. If it makes a difference, I also just updated my iPad software to 4.3. This looks to be a fantastic tool. The sounds are very rich and the user environment expansive and full of possibilities. Plus it has nostalgia value for me because my first keyboard ever was an MS-10!

Best music app! Too complex? Buy something else.. Wow, just wow. To the people saying it is "too complex" - it's called a synthesizer. They are this complicated in the real world. If you want something simple, buy a smule app. This is not for you. Now that being said, if you know anything about synths, BUY THIS APP!!!

aMaZiNG!!. This is already in one of my a CuBase 6.5.1 projects - have had it for one day= amazing virtual analog synthesizer. I own many soft synths and this one, being on my iPad, is very unique; probably in my top 5 already. The sequencing is very pliable and ubiquitous. Sound: compare this to any other 'virtual analog' out there... Wow. I have owned hardware versions of the Waldorf XTK, Sequential Circuits as well as Access TI, NordLead, these always have a bit of something you don't get with the soft synth versions... This MS-20 is close like my favorite other soft synths, excellent job peoples. Thanks!

Awesome. I've never used a synthesizer before buying this app and am blown away at the level of details that the ims-20 offers. The sound is superb and the interface works perfectly for a touch screen. I only wish that you could copy and paste tracks right into the ipad version of GarageBand, but I suspect that is something that Apple has to implement on their end.

Amazing update!. Korg has really outdone themselves with this latest update to an already superb synthesizer app. The addition of virtual midi, background audio, audio bus, and for the amazing and greatly needed retina display update, thank you, thank you, thank you! There is an immense amount of power and flexibility in this app, and anyone who is seriously into synthesizers will absolutely love it as I do! Now that this and all of the other Korg apps have been updated with all of the latest and greatest iOS music production features, they all play so nicely together, I feel like Christmas came early this year!

Dang!. This app is awesome! Exactly what I'd been hoping for on the iPad. Though the sequencer editing isn't exactly perfect, I find this app ito be unparalleled for getting ideas worked out quickly. My only request for Korg would be to allow access to tempos over 300bpm, so that one could make projects that are tempo doubled for a full160bpm track.

great app!!! but crashes in 4.3 beta. guys.. great app!! love it! but am limited because everytime i try and access the Sound Preset section the app crashes. i'm a developer so this is iOS 4.3 beta. sorry to leave this here but you dont actually have any support options on the webpage you've linked to from here except "contact the distributor" who is iTunes who says to contact the vendor, which is you... nice... so great app!!! but the iOS 4.3 beta crashes the Sound Presets...... i'm giving it 5 stars because the app is awesome and beta stuff (even Apples) never works 100% anyway.

Computers are still magic. I have just started digging into this, but it looks like a great introductory app for any new musician interested in the roots of sound creation. Very interesting virtual synth. Now I just have to figure out how to connect a real midi keyboard to this as a sound source. Any help would be appreciated...

AMAZING. The only thing that sets this program apart from the hardware versions of these two powerhouse pieces is nothing. I have owned both pieces and have to say this is way more flexible and sounds amazing!! I am more than happy at the price of the application as well. An amazing app for all electronic artists. Flawless!!!
