What is fswidgets igmap app? The FSWidgets iGMap app turns your iPhone or iPod touch into a moving map for your desktop flight simulator!

Do you own MSFS, FSX, FS9, X-Plane or Aerofly FS 2?
This app works with the three most popular desktop simulators on the market today, giving you a hand-held moving map to aid navigation, especially on simulated VFR flights.
It connects to the flight simulator via our free FSWidgets Network Pack which can be downloaded from the FSWidgets website (http://fswidgets.com/shop/network.php).
iGMap saves valuable screen real-estate on your desktop by using your iPhone or iPod Touch to display your aircraft's current position.
GENERAL FEATURES:
▸ Connects to MSFS, FSX, FS9, X-Plane and Aerofly FS 2.
▸ Flight Plan Display - supports MSFS, FSX, FS9 and X-Plane flight plan files.
▸ Flight Plan file import via iTunes > Device Apps tab > File Sharing.
▸ Flight Plan file import via Dropbox.
▸ Waypoints can be tapped to reveal the related data (e.g. lat, lon, ident, dist, heading).
▸ FSWidgets Network Pack provided free (see the website link).
▸ Connect & disconnect from the flight simulator as required.
▸ When disconnected can be used as a chart viewer.
▸ Map supports drag to pan and pinch to zoom.
▸ Option to remember previously used map type, zoom and position, or accept default settings.
▸ Helicopter icon option for moving map (i.e. instead of fixed wing icon).

REQUIREMENTS:

▸ Free FSWidgets Network Pack must be installed to connect to simulator - download from FSWidgets (see the website link).
▸ Wi-Fi network required, iPad must be on same local network as machine running the flight simulator.
▸ Internet access required, to automatically download map tile data on the fly.

A great MM app!. I use it all the time in XPlane. I thought at one point we were able to see taxiway designations. Did these go away or is that a scenery function?
Great!. Just great. Can 'watch' my flight progress while away from my PC. And of course follow a detailed approach. Great support, too. Only wish right now: show also flight details, especially height, speed and heading. And possibly a flight plan. Also weather overlays would be great.

It Works! Much Better than Anticipated. Here’s Why. This app places your plane at the center of the screen and a map moves below. The surprise is that you can add real time rain, cloud, pressure and/or wind levels. Imagine flying above a hurricane and you can see the real time eye of the hurricane ahead. This app will guide you there. It also clears up space on your monitor by moving the map function to an iPhone, iPad, windows or android device. FSWidgets is worth every bit of the price! I went out and bought a $70 tablet and now have a nice little map to look at— outside the sim.

iGMap with iPhone 3GS. Really well done App. Installation - easy. Runs smooth and accurate. It's better than good, but not great because I wish there was satellite imagery available as with their desktop version. Great side "map-monitor" when flying. I use FSX and XP is my operating system. Well worth the cost.

Awesome!. This is the most valuable app I’ve purchased for my flight sims. I wanted it for my iPad but didn’t read the description fully before I purchased on my phone. There is an iPad version called igmapsHD. After seeing how good it is I went and bought HD for my iPad also. It’s fantastic for seeing exactly where I am in the world. I can fly over the map and follow roads to known landmarks and find them in sim with ease. The weather filters are great for seeing what’s ahead, I can track ground speed and altitude at a glance and there are many other great features. Flying is simply not as enjoyable without this app and I wonder how I ever got by without it. Totally worth it!

Handy little moving map. Great to have to offload your charts if you're running single monitor.
