Unwilling participant. I am writing a review of this app because I'm avoiding emptying my dishwasher. Thanks app. I am using the app, however because I have no other way to get into my club. Some desktop website related glitch left me with a tag that wouldn't work. So I got a number written on a piece of paper transferring me the information of my true tag number which I would have to enter into this app if I wanted to gain access to the club again. So I am not using the app because it is a beautiful work of art free from bugs and with excellent graphic design. No. I am using this silly app because I have no other way to enter club pay to train at. I imagine I will be able to use the app but I write software for a living. The app could use an update. It's kind of disgusting but it works usually.

Why. The previous version of this app worked fine. I only use it to look up class schedules and check in. Class schedule is fine, kind of annoying that I can’t set a default so it knows automatically where I want to look up but it’s a non issue really, maybe something that can be added in the future. My biggest issue is checking in and locations. First off, why do I need to be within 500 feet of the gym to open my membership card on my phone? Why does LA fitness want to know our location so bad that it restricts its clientele this way? Not to mention it takes a good 10-15 seconds to open up the membership card because the app has to figure out where you are and make sure it’s ok to open the membership card. Basically I have to get permission every time I go to the gym. Before it would just open up, no issue. Others might not find it annoying but something small like that just sinks the quality of life of the app into the gutter for a person like me who just wants to check in and go.

No Fox News???. If you google “Foxnews, LA Fitness” you’ll notice many people complaining about the lack of CHOICE when it comes to watching news on the treadmills or other machines. I noticed it but I hope it’s changed by now. I want to rejoin LA Fitness after being away from it the last 2 very busy years. I don’t go to the gym to watch tv of course but when on a treadmill or elliptical I do get bored or I get curious about a current event or whatever and I would simply like the CHOICE to watch Foxnews as I simply prefer them to the others.

Little weird?. This app the only thing I can see is the schedule and my account my barcode the rest nothing I try to see my transaction but nothing I try to email the fitness but nothing works and I contact the fitness and they said I have to walk in or email them and I told them I email last week and they said to email again if not have to walk in but told them I can’t walk in cause I move to far away and there’s no LA fitness nearby and they said to email again since that day they didn’t reply back and they took my payment wow I don’t know What else to do I never showed up for 2 months and they still took my payment after I call and they gave me this poor answer 🤦🏽‍♀️

LA Fitness White Marsh Maryland. I exercise at LA White Marsh Maryland location. It is the friendliest gym in the area and the manager, Alex, stays on top of things for his members and staff. He is always friendly, fixes things himself when he can, secures equipment that is lacking when he can, and puts in his best effort to keep the gym clean and tidy. We here at the White Marsh gym haven’t had working AC in years in the exercise room and he is trying his ALL to get that for us. It just started working now, with the old units NOT being replaced , so hopefully we won’t be pouring sweat all summer long as in the past. So many people have gotten sick in the heat too and no longer attend. But here’s to the best gym manager LA White Marsh has ever seen and the staff too should be commended for their friendliness and efforts to keep this place running as smoothly as possible. I rate this gym, because of the staff there as 5 BIG stars. Jody Krul

This app might run on Window XP. This is one of the most poorly designed apps I’ve seen to date. When thinking about functionality, there should be 2 focuses. Barcode to get into the gym. Easily able to view class schedule. There are so many menus, subcategories that call all be merged and simplified. It takes so many clicks to get to something. Previously I would start opening the app in my car, so by the time I walked in the gym I could have the barcode ready. Only now it’s allowing access to jump to the barcode from the lock menu, when it should be compatible with the Wallet app. This app is hidden in a dark corner of my folder because I have no desire to open this app. Please let us change our pictures, it’s signed in as is, figure out another security system. Please update this for an app that’s running on current iPhones, not the iPhone 4.

Cluttered. The home page is cluttered and not super user friendly. There are too many things doing on, and the only contrast there are the gray lines. Also the icons in the boxes should be bigger. It’s hard to quickly distinguish which button I’m supposed to press to check-in when I have to read half the buttons. I feel like that should be the most prominent thing. It’s also a bit slow to open the membership card. I tend to open it in the parking lot so it has that 10-30 sec it takes me to get to the front desk for it to load. I like the information it has about each club in the area, but it could use some UX/UI TLC.

It’s just OK. It is an OK app for what it is suppose to do. Nothing great. It does have your membership card so you just show your opened phone app as you enter. There is no way to add your photo mine is blank. If I was dishonest don’t know what would keep me from giving my phone to someone else to use to get in and use gym. No picture to ID me. Other than that it is what it is. You can book training if you so choose, book racket ball courts etc. find the class schedules and sign up. So, all in all it does what it is meant to do.

Total garbage. The only thing that consistently works on this app for me is the membership card. The link to reserve a trainer is a truly a hit or miss affair. Sometimes the app will work the first time you click the link, sometimes the app won’t respond until you click it several times then multiple reservation screens open up. Other times the trainer reserve link won’t open at all. I find really quite annoying that a company as big as LA Fitness can’t find the time to fix such a simple problem especially when there’s a lot of other people complaining about the exact same issue, whether it be for their spin class or when they’re trying to reserve a trainer. Get your crap together LA Fitness.

Schedule view and filter suggestions. It would be nice if the schedule already appears for your favorite club, instead having to select the location every time you are checking the schedule. Other suggestion is to add filters to schedule view, for example filtering to see only class in the evening, or early morning. Another minor suggestion: maybe would be easier seeing the membership card just going doing the first screen (down the buttons), without having to find/press any button.

Ugh - needs a lot of love. It’s nice to have the ability to get into the club with my phone, but the class schedule for someone who juggles the center by my work and the center by my house is rough. I added favorite classes but it looks like it doesn’t actually do anything but highlight them in the list...I wish there was more integration with finding the nearest cycle, Zumba or Pilates course within a 5 mile radius, rather than having to go through each studio or each class type... Also, it’s not a very aesthetic app design, looks like a daycare center’s app, not a fitness studio...and that’s actually an insult to my center because my daycare’s app is actually quite nice. Will this app do the job? Yes. Do you have to download a different app to access the audio from the TVs in the center? Yes (why?! Make it integrated!) Will it win any awards? No.

Worst experience ever. Worst experience ever, if you want to get a personal trainer don’t ever do to LA fitness, I was tricked in the beginning while joining , I had asked for 6 months personal trainer , don’t know why in document I signed it says 1 year. Now they are saying there is no way to cancel the personal training sessions and I need to pay half of the remaining year amount around 1400 or I should became a complete disabled person to cancel it!!! This agreement was never mentioned when I joined . also once one. of the personal trainer was literally using phone and didn’t taught me anything when I complained they just chanher the trainer without giving compensation for that class. Don’t know what to do with this issue!! Worst fitness center ever!!

App constantly freezes up. The app works fine until it doesn’t, and then it completely stops being responsive. At least once a month, the personal training tab becomes non-responsive; clicking on it does nothing, and then minutes later the spinning “loading” wheel pops up and spins for up to 10 minutes, and doesn’t pull up the tab when it finishes. Logging out doesn’t resolve this, as when I put in my pin it shows that all 4 digits are entered, and does nothing for 5+ minutes; I just never get a pin accepted or wrong pin message. I frequently have to delete the app and remake an account. The personal training is literally why I have a (expensive) membership and to not be able to schedule appointments is enfuriating.

This app needs an update and one that actually works. The latest update for this app was to fix gps bugs when in actuality it made it worse. I can not put my club in when it was there previously before the update. Now I can’t put a location in at all which makes it impossible to setup my personal training sessions or even reserve a class. I have to text my trainer to have him setup my sessions. What’s the point in having the app in the first place if it doesn’t work! It’s even worse that I can’t delete it because if I do I won’t have my tag to get in the gym! This is so backwards and stupid either fix it or do away with it! Give members more options for the things we need and for the money we pay in memberships and personal training if your app doesn’t work!

Incomplete info. 2 years ago the app seemed to work fine. But since then, it does not give me even 1/2 the class schedules for the gyms near me— with by location or type. Also (maybe worse), I receive message notification pop up for a split second, but when I open it, it always says no messages. Both of these are annoying because I don’t know if my classes are canceled. The main class I attend twice a week is 45 minutes away from me (because there are None offered at the gyms closet!!!), and once I went and wasted a trip because it was canceled.

Favorite gym. I’ve been in this gym for more than 5 years but I always love it, the employees are nice and it's clean and not too crowded. The instructors are also amazing especially my favorite instructor Jeanne Baker, who is an amazing instructor. She motivates me to come to her class because it's a great class, she does pilates and abs workouts. Also, I just hope they added more classes or Zumba classes. Overall, it's a great place to work out.

App and Gym. The 1/5 stars is not for the app alone but for the fitness centers in the minneapolis area as well. Never have I ever seen such an underdeveloped app and out process from a company that has the ability to charge you upwards of $500 a year for a membership. It’s honestly hilarious that the only way to cancel is to mail in a piece of paper to them, from their own website, AND you have to provide your own stamp...and lets be real, the money isn’t the problem. Buying a stamp is annoying but it’s not impossible. The thing that really amazes me is that they don’t have any kind of online cancellation. What. So. Ever. And of course if you try it in the fitness centers they will hit you with every kind of sales pitch they have. To speak specially about the app, if I had a dollar for every time it crashed on me or just went into a spin cycle I’d be able to afford a years worth of a Lifetime membership...😂

App looks a bit outdated & way to improve. App could look better and work more functionally. I think when I used to go to Planet Fitness their app looked more updated and matched the brand. Additionally, they should also add an option to view classes by time instead of just by gym or class type. This is better for me because I look at going to the gym based on when I have some time with a 6 month old. Essentially, I’d be like oh let me see what classes are available at 11am in the 5 nearest gyms to me. Because some locations don’t have 11am classes and some do but I just don’t that class itself. Right now, I have to go through each location nearest to me to see which ones they have at 11am.

Great app. **Update— I like to look and see how many days a month I go and literally it doesn’t show one to two days a week that I am there. And when they scan my phone it beeps so I know they got it— but in my phone it shows I didn’t go. This annoys me. The only thing I can use it for now is to get in and then reserve bike class/check class times. I use this app every day. It always pulls my membership card with no problem. I love the check in under the account tab so I can see how often I go. I use the reserve class for the cycle classes and have not had any problems at all. You can use the same function to cancel as well if needed. I’m able to check out the classes at any gym and it filters to nearest gym. This is beneficial as I can go in between appointments no matter where I am! You can also save classes, locations, or teachers to your favorites to look up later.

Can’t update your account on this. This app is no good to get into, to update your contract, to check your membership status, contact a LA Fitness support member, etc.. All it’s good for is for LA Fitness to scan your membership to get into the gym, nothing else!! Then when you call an actual gym member to ask for help they say that there’s nothing they can do to help you because there management is either busy or they’re gone for the day!! It’s a total scam to pay for working out at these LA Fitness locations that are always full to capacity!! Oh yeah they charge you for an annual fee on top of your monthly membership fees and they never mention that before you pay for a new membership!!

Great App. I’m not sure what all these negative reviews are for but this is the first app I took the liberty of writing a review for..... I had no problem entering my member idea in the app for scanning... it even allowed me to edit my membership info from the app.. I giggled when I saw my old picture from 2015... classes are easy to find, the layout is very neat. I can add the class to my calendar just by selecting the time. It also shows me all the days I went to the gym.... only one thing, I do think the scanner should be in front somewhere, but everything else is on point. A little suggestion that would make this app even more great is if I can use some kind of calorie counter in it, or it can interact with my Apple Watch.... that would be awesome!!!

Member. First of all, this is not a gym. This is far more than the average gym where you perform on average cardio machines, having limited weight machines and free weights, not to mention the availability of a limited amount. Who else has a larger array of your cardio and weight lifting equipment, not to mention the full basketball court, racket ball courts, a full size pool for laps, a sauna, a jacuzzi, child care, spin classes, and too many other areas to mention. LA Fitness is a full service health and body fitness facility. It is what you need if you are looking for all around fitness. I have been a member for over 9 months, and I have found a place, a home, that fits my needs. I’ll soon be 60 years of age, and I have a lot to live for. Try it, you won’t be disappointed.

Second review. LA Fitness has a good check in process; you can use your mobile device or your card and phone number although I think phone number are begin phase out. The gym equipment can be better and better organized. For example the weight room should be on ground level so you don’t hear the dropping of the weight over your head. Running and abs work out machine should be on the upper level. Particularly at the Bundy location. The shower title could use some maintenance work, but the water pressure is awesome. The perks in the women locker room is having the sunna next to the shower and the space of the women locker room is great. I always see a parking attendant and maintenance personal around cleaning and fixing things, so a little upgrade to help the cleaning appearance to the overall environment is needed because no matter how good you clean if you don’t upgrade title and flooring everything will look & feel old.

All the parts are there, it just feels disjointed. I just downloaded this app as I recently joined the gym. My job has ruined how I experience apps, so I feel inclined to give feedback. No offense meant to the app team- there’s probably a lot behind the scenes. The hamburger menu would be easier to access on the right side (but that’s my own preference)- and there should not be such a long list to scroll through when the side drawer opens up. Limit it to the main nav items, and make sub-items if needed. The landing screen looks unfinished with the boxes, and there’s no hierarchy so it’s taking some time for me to look through. It would also help if the icons were larger- or maybe if photos or illustrations were used instead. There’s a lot of strange interactions in the app, which makes the overall experience feel disjointed. Follow common patterns and best practices- and people will feel less lost using it. Now, as a user and gym member, I want to be able to open the app and dive in without having to read every little thing. I’d like to be able to navigate seamlessly, so I don’t get stuck on a page wondering if I something is supposed to function a certain way. Hope there’s some cool updates in the future!

Worst Support, Worst Company. Why do I need to download a mobile app and adjust my phone’s settings just to get into a gym? It’s beyond ridiculous. Let me save you some trouble if you’re considering membership to this gym. Don’t do it. LA Fitness literally has the worst customer support I’ve ever dealt with. I’ve emailed and called so many times and no response. They do everything they can to not talk to you. At my physical gym, I get attitude from the kids behind the check-in counter because I give my number to enter the gym rather than use the mobile app. They seem incredibly put out by entering a few numbers into the computer and because I took them away from their social media for ten seconds. Did it ever occur to you people that some use company phones and aren’t allowed to download apps onto them? What then, LA Fitness?! Total garbage company. Go with YouFit…they care.

In app reviews. I would like to see a change in the app. In addition, create a place inside the la fitness app for customers and consumers to rate and comment about each la fitness branches. Being that i work in others states and cities, I do not always have the time to stop and chat about that particular branch. It is imperative and efficient to rate and comment each and every branch individually. I should not have to comment on the google play store to get heard. SOME MATTERS SHOULD BE TALKED ABOUT AND DEALT WITH IN HOUSE.

I LOVE Aqua Fit classes at LA fitness but my favorite class is with Ashley W.. She’s cute, she’s real, she personable, she’s fun. She makes us work as hard as we want. We have bonded as a class and we look forward to coming to exercise together. even if we are stared at through the glass. I think other members are jealous. I’ve been a member of other gyms. This feels different when you connect with an instructor and she helps you connect with the other members of the class you enjoy your workout, tell friends and continue to come.

GPS fixed after delete and reinstall!. UPDATE - Like several others my GPS had stopped working after upgrading to a new phone XS. Wasn’t sure if it was the phone or an app upgrade. Anyway I decided to delete the app, turn off the phone and back on, and reinstall the app. Like magic everything is back working! Happy user once again. Like several others, the GPS has stopped working for me after about 1 1/2 years of not having any problems. Membership card only functions. Can’t find the la club that I’m physically at. NO clubs or classes can be found so none listed which is a pain. PLEASE FIX SOON!!

I don’t like the update.. I’m not sure when the last update was on this app. I haven’t been using it ever since LA fitness was shut down temporarily. I remember before everything happened, this app worked beautifully. I would be near a gym and it would ask me if I would like to open up my membership card. Now, when I click on mobile membership card on the three dotted line on the left, it says I need to go to a club to activate it or when I click on the button to sign in really quickly, before I’m even near the gym (it didn’t do this before) it says to be 500 feet near the gym. When I am at the gym and ready to be scanned, it said the account was on another device. (I’ve never used my account on another device nor did I ever give my information to another person.) so I would really appreciate it if you guys could help me out with that issue. I’m not sure if it’s an update or what it is, it’s just really frustrating having to give my number out loud all the time. Thank you.

Not too good. As a person who just goes to LA fitness to workout and not for any classes or to use any of the other activities I can say that this app is far from good. The app is always glitching. Every time, when i’m about to check in, the app takes its time to start up. The worst part is that when it does start up, it takes even longer to open the membership card. I tap once, nothing happens, i tap twice, still nothing, so I start tapping quickly because I need to check in since i’m not the only one in line and its got to move. The app opens a new window for every time I tapped, as it loads up the membership scan information. This makes it so it takes more time for me and the others waiting in line to just go and workout. I only use this app to get in the gym, there’s no reason for it to malfunction as much as it does.

Good for checking in. I find the app easy to use for checking in. I like that it tells who the instructor is for the classes and lists substitutes when applicable. I have found that my check in days are not always showing up in the app. My biggest complaint is that I go to the same location every day. When I want to look up the class schedule for my location I have to choose it from a map or list. It should allow me to set a default location that comes up and shows the class list. When I want to see other locations is I could then see the map or list. Every time I want to see the class schedule I have to go through the map and pick my location.

Adding a Calendar?. I was wondering when is La Fitness going to show you a calendar with all your check ins? I previously was attending a different Gym where they tracked all your visits and I feel like it was a great detail. I understand a lot of people don't want to be tracked but it would be a great option to give to customers. I understand this is just an opinion but hey it always feels good to see how consistent one can be, especially when you see it visually.

if only used as membership card - fine, otherwise not so great. Pulling up my membership card works for me every time I use it - and I only have my phone with me so it is great. My issue - and it is not small IMHO - is how unbelievably terrible the reserve a fitness class part is. I spin once or twice a week. At least one of those is with my wife. Classes are basically never avaiable 24 hours in advance. And when you get closer, say 18-8 hours away, it is a crap shoot. Sometimes it says you can reserve when 24 hours in advance (even though it is well within that window). Sometimes it gives you a blue link to register that actually does nothing. And it sometimes will dissapear once it is there for no reason. Eventually the link stays there and works. And it is random. Like this morning - my wife got into the class around 9:45. I have yet to be able to.

STOP with the app stuff...use the member CARDS. This app does not work well and even tries to blame my internet which is high speed xfinity and full bars. I know for sure my internet was not the problem because I was on the phone with an employee at my nearest la fitness and they just apologized for my account not being created and said just to come in. The message I got was “invalid membership or session has timed out” No my membership is definitely valid. Why is session timing out I did the application quickly? My internet is fast and reliable and my membership has been paid since before covid. Anyways, great place/gym I love it actually...but horrible app. Needs work sorry to say.

Questionable decisions…. I’m currently an LA Fitness staff member as a side job and I have some experience in Front End development and design, and my overall experience with it as well as the members I check in has been okay before this recent overhaul, it wasn’t perfect but it did the job. However with this recent overhaul, I just want to know who thought it was a great idea to put the “view membership card” link, the most used feature to check in, to the very bottom of the dropdown menu?? With the next update, PLEASE put that into the front page, it has zero reason to be where it is right now. Or just do another overhaul because right now, the application is not user-friendly.

Horrible App. This is by far the ugliest and most non user friendly app I’ve ever used. The home page is an absolute disaster and looks like something that was created in the 80s. It’s a mess and is so difficult to understand. There are ads that take up 40% of the screen and everything else is smooshed to the bottom screen. All the buttons are different sizes and hurts my eyes. I have no idea how to reserve a spot for classes offered at my location. It only lets me favorite the workout or add it to my calendar. I just don’t get it!! I’ve been to lesser known gyms that have created fantastic apps. For a massive company like LA fit to allow this monstrosity to go public is shameful!! Whoever designed this needs to be replaced asap cause this is the WORST app design I’ve ever seen.

A poorly made app with poor support for iPhone features. I mainly use this app to access my membership card for when I need to scan into the gym. But wow is this app annoying to use. First of all it’s insanely slow. It takes at least a minute just to open the page and bring up the virtual member card. So I always have to remember to load the app when I first get out of the car as I start walking to the gym to give it enough time to bring up the card so I’m not awkwardly standing at the desk waiting for my phone to load it first. Second, there’s no reason why the member card itself should not be compatible with Apple wallet. It would be so so so much better if the card had wallet support where I can just quickly bring it up there instead of having to wait for this horrendous app to open first. Please add this support soon.

Whaaat? ......... Downloaded this app; eokay, opened this app; eokay, tried to create a membership from this app; everything not okay. After putting in my key tag number and moving to the next page, an error message kept popping up informing me of my inability to create a proper password! Whaaat? Okay, according to the message, if I were to use a minimum of 6 characters, and a ‘-‘ or an ‘_’ or an ‘.’ or a ‘@‘ esbfine ...... Never happened. No matter what combination of 6 letters plus I tried, I was just not good enough at creating this mysteriously elusive password! So if anyone else is having this same goofy problem, this how I solved it: Go back to the App Store and locate the LA Fitness app, then tap on the ‘App Support’ button. This will take you to the LA Fitness website where you have the option to create an account right there. Do it. It works flawlessly. Once I did that, the app itself has proven to be stable. 1 star for now .........

Works but some minor tweaks. It always works for me flawlessly but I’m not sure why they decided to change the font on the classes when there are substitute teachers to gray font that is barely visible, it was better when it was in red font. A lot of times I have to click on the class itself in order to check if the class will have substitutes which is not orders. Other than that, the app does not freeze, it always loads quickly when I’m trying to check in.

Needs Modern Touch. The app has all your basic functions. But that is where the road stops. I feel like the app should provide an option for the digital membership tag to be added to the Apple Wallet so you can double tap the button, scan and your on your way. The app needs a UI change from the standard kind of old block tile looking interface (2014). I think it can have the same functions just made to look way better so that your more enticed to use it for classes, check in history, payments and receipts. The Apple wallet addition of a digital check in card is a must in 2020.

Needs more time/investment put into it. It’s a great feature to not have to carry around your membership card and just scan via your phone. Also being able to stay up to date on class schedules is nice, but the app itself is quite buggy and a lot of time pressing on a certain drop down doesn’t work or it’ll close the app down after trying multiple times. A big company like this should consider this a long term investment and put more effort into the app, there’s a lot of potential not being taken into consideration.

Could you integrate the membership card with Apple Pay membership card functionality?. The app works great. It has many wonderful features. Is it possible to allow the membership card to be saved to Apple Pay so that the membership card could be opened from Apple Pay. This is especially helpful if I just take my smart watch to the gym in order to avoid any potential theft of my phone. smart watches like the Apple Watch allow membership card stored an Apple Pay to be displayed for entry into places like AMC and other membership spaces.

Rate Your Visit. This annoying app keeps asking me to rate my visit after EVERY gym session and there is no way to turn off this notification specifically. I use the location services to give me notification to scan my QR. When I turn off all notifications is also turns off the location notification. Even worse, when I decided I’m actually going to rate my visit there was no way to do so and it takes you to a blank message notification in app. The interface is buggy and outdated. Half of the stuff doesn’t work. Can’t even get up-yo-date times for a specifically gym locations. When I use the VIP guest feature I still have to bring in a physical piece of paper to scan. This app is complete 🗑. Do better.

Personal training scam! Beware !. Personal training scam! Beware ! Please do not buy personal training at LA fitness. They just enroll you in contract for 1 year, tell you all good things initially, tell you if it doesn’t work we will talk and make things right but none of them are responsible. Even though due to sickness or trainer not show up there is no option to carry forward the unused session to next month. When enroll membership they said they will freeze the account if any emergency situation and now they are telling they is no option to freeze the account and that’s a trap. I have surgery and now no way to freeze and simply they taking money and no way to carry forward the sessions as well. It’s just a trap, please don’t fall for it. I wrote this review as I was fed up and they signed me up by saying all nice things but actually, it’s all trap.

It's getting better. Here are the problems. 1. The home button. It should be on the bottom right. Some of us have large iphones and when we're checking in, we want to get to the home page so that we could click on the membership card and check in. The way it is now, the home button only appears on the top right if you're more than one page away. It's a waste of time to pull up the app only to find out that you're not on the front page and the inconveniently placed button is not existent and you now have to use your other hand in order to press back so that you could get to your membership card. 2. Instructor photos are missing. I'm in South Bay CA and NONE of the class instructors have their photos up. The trainers have their photos, members have photos, management has their photos. However, the lack of photos for the class instructors really makes me feel like LA Fitness doesn't give a huge crap about the user experience.

Poor Functionality. This app randomly stops logging my check-ins. Today someone else’s account came up when I signed in. I logged out of the app then back in. Now I can’t access my membership card. I deleted the app and reinstalled it several times and even created a new online account and I still can’t access my membership card and they no longer have the physical card for check-ins. Smh what happens when I come in and no one is at the desk to take my phone number? The reps at the center had no idea how to fix it and told me to call corporate or delete the app off of all my devices. I only have one device 🤦🏾‍♀️

Barely Usable / UI Looks About a Decade Old. Just downloaded this app yesterday after starting my membership with LA Fitness. I’m a big believer in creating unique passwords for my digital accounts so after initially creating a weak password at the gym I went and home and used my password manager to create and store a password via my browser. Now the web app and this iOS app don’t recognize the new password. Furthermore, the pin I setup to access to iOS app also doesn’t work. Besides that the app looks atrocious. I’m not going to rail that hard on the app for that aspect because I essentially just need it to be a gym pass but it really does look terrible.

Slow and somehow annoying?. I have been going to LA Fitness for a few years now and I’ve had this app since I started. I didn’t care enough previously to leave a review, but I went to the gym 4 hours ago and since then I’ve gotten 6 notifications asking me to review my visit. Too bad the app doesn’t work well enough to actually let me do that, even just to get the notifications to stop. Outside of that, every time I open the app it tells me I have a message only for there to not actually be any messages. The app is also super slow to respond and I don’t have any use for it outside of checking into the gym when I get there. Fix the bugs, make it more responsive and user friendly.

Hate this app. First of all, let me use a key tag to check in instead of the app. It’s more efficient at the desk. There is a lag to the membership card, and while it has improved its still too slow. Terrible UI/UX. Who built this app? An 8th grader in 2009? Seriously, it’s garbage. Largest portion of the home screen is taken up by an ad carousel (trash). “Find club” is a button option, as if I’m not going to use Google to find the nearest club (if not my home club). There is also an option for “gallery” which just takes you to a generic picture of some random LA Fitness. It’s full of unnecessary clutter. Needs to be simplified, faster, cleaner, and better in essentially every way. Debating changing gyms.

new App is improved. the older version of this app had some problems, mostly with reserving a class. They came out with a revised app which fixed the problem. I don't think there is anything wrong with LAF gyms. Some people who have no experience going to a gym, seem to think it's a luxury spa for themselves. Gyms are for people who work out hard, sweat, use the locker room, and come back the next day and do it all over again. Of course the gym might smell a little bit, this isn't a five-star hotel you're reviewing... LA Fitness is a decent gym for the money and offers way more features than the competition does, like racquetball, basketball, and swimming to name a few...

Seriously please fix this app.. I have tried to book a reservation for the past 2 weeks and have felt nothing but anger and stress every time I open the app. I am paying a lot of money to go to this gym, yet the last time I went was over 3 weeks ago because the app NEVER works, and the spots go within seconds. Please listen to your customers and do something about this. It is completely unfair and irritating to deal with this every single day.

Ok but still needs improvements. The app has come a long way. Some suggestions: - have club hours on the app and keep them updated - have notifications specific to your club eg. If the pool is closed notify us via the app. I shouldn’t have to get to the pool door to find out - Apple Watch compatibility - ability to report cleanliness and maintenance issues - real time capacity estimation so you can decide if you want to go now or later when it’s less busy (like Google estimates)

Check-ins don’t always log. It would be nice if a check-in would be logged even if you’re not connected to wi-fi or data. I scanned my barcode without wifi and it didn’t log the check-in on the calendar.

Apple Wallet!!. It's 2021 and the app still looks like something from 2010. Just add the apple Wallet functionality already! Why does the app generate a new bar code every time. Can't even use third party apps to add the bar code. Because it's just gonna regenerate.

iWatch integration is poor. It needs better integration to keep the watch on when we scan the code. Otherwise the app is fine.

Fantastic interface. Easy to use, easy to check in.

Works just fine. People expect the world in a hand basket…the app works just fine. Maybe keep thinking of fresh ideas to make the app fun and easy to use but it’s working out fine for me so far.

Spend some money you losers. Change your piece of garbage app.

Apple wallet?. Where is the apple wallet support this app looks like it’s circa 2010 it’s slow and inconvenient would rather just get a physical pass so I can create my own apple wallet pass but can’t do that anymore. Ridiculous.

Disappointing app. The most frustrating app. Super slow. You need to improve your server if you know tons of people are trying to book at the same time . I have to reserve two days prior(I’m ok with that) but spending 20 min loading the app to get the schedules is ridiculous and guess what ,all is gone! No spots available! I’m a new member probably canceling her membership pretty soon .

Ugly and inconvenient. Ugly and very non-intuitive UI. Lots of work to be done to make it just ok

Don’t buy a new phone ever. Broke my phone this weekend, bought a new one. Went to open my membership card, and got an error saying it’s active on another device. The message said “visit the club to activate this device”, but the guy at the counter says he has no way to do that. So now I have to check in with my phone number forever. Tip: tons of other services can say “hey, this thing is active on another device. Do you want to remove it and add to this one?”

Never works properly. The app constantly logs me out, usually right before I am trying to check in, then when I finally do get it to accept my credentials none of the relevant information loads. No idea why this is not an Apple Wallet option yet.

Need to upgrade servers. While its understandable that handling all the demand for booking is tough, having the app crash EVERY DAY because the servers can not handle the load is unacceptable for a company of this size. It takes 20 min for the servers to go back up and by that time all slots are gone, not sure how those people even manage to get through.

App / Company need some overhaul. Its great that the app asks for feedback after a visit but it is EXTREMELY limited.. 2 questions and they only allow for yes/no answers. Too broad. My home club is falling through the cracks on a number of issues... watered down soaps in the showers, guest issues, etc and with managers that are unprofessional it would be great to have somewhere to leave that feedback that was for corporate and not the location itself. Even in the app under contact us it says "due to staff shortages with emails / calls ... please speak to your home gym" like, what? Theres no motivation on the part of my home gym to fix their issues without a watch dog, the app should help bridge that.

Interface needs a refresh. It does what it’s intended for (checking in, tracking workouts, viewing classes) but the app really needs to be updated, it looks like it’s still in beta.

Bad app good gym. I like the gym but the app is horrible. Hard to navigate and useless explanations. With covid I would’ve thought there would be an update.

Good app. Works great

Lazy, unprofessional execution. Agree with many other users, this must have Apple wallet integration, it’s nonsense that have to open app (which is slow) then click on membership (which is slow) to access the membership code. Beyond this, ridiculous that can’t even have their own logo looking right on their own app, it’s pulled and skewed.

Won’t let me log in. I went to front desk to switch over to my new phone, deleted the app and re downloaded but I still can’t access my membership!

Lazy App. This is a lazy app that was just put together for the sake of having an app… simple things like showing the gym locations open/close times are nowhere to be found. The other times it’s just slow and glitchy. Very boring looking app and not representative of a gym franchise that makes millions every year just of memberships alone.

Find club. The Find Club feature doesn't work in Canada. I have trouble finding any club in Ontario. It just shows the one near my place so even if I know the address of the other club with the postal code it still doesn't show me to check the amenities or reservations. Please update this feature as this is a very basic requirement of a gym app.

Reservation system is broken. Like many reviews already said, impossible to get a reservation, slow to update and refresh spots. sadly, with these useless, yet, strict governmental restrictions you can now only workout if you reserve a spot hours ahead. And since it is impossible to get a spot, it looks like LA Fitness is getting free money from me.

Awesome cleaning crew. Cleaning crew at Vaughan (Bathurst and ratherford) location is very friendly and does a great job. Keep up the good work

Studio Zone. It disappeared! Want it back !

Doesn’t connect to Apple wallet. If it did, this app wouldn’t take so long.

0 rate. Your app need update, i want to cancel my membership

Trash. No support for Apple Watch and no support for the wallet. Slow to open! My everyday headache!

Guests Tab cannot be accessed. While I love my LA Fitness Location, I dislike how I cannot open the Guests Tab to sign in my guests. Whenever I click on it, it brings me right back to the previous tab.

App could be better. Would be great if I could see my workout frequency/history on the app

Too slow. This app functions way too slowly. It’s maddening. Needs fixing.

Development Needed | Apple wallet. I can ignore all the App's problems and flaws, but can't accept non integration with Apple Wallet to generate a Card

Just bad…. UI belongs to the first century B.C The time is incorrect. I am in Toronto and when I enter the club at 5:00 PM for example, it logs the time as 2:21 PM. The contactless entry is so useless because you would have to scan your barcode when you enter the club. There are a couple of other bugs but I don’t have time to write about them. All I want to say is it’s a shame for such a big business not to have an up-to-date reliable app.

Does the job!. Don’t quite understand the bad reviews. It loads very quickly and works as it’s supposed to. Great app, great gym!

App is… fine. App works well enough. Would be better with Apple Wallet support. I’d like to come to the gym with just my watch and headphones. Ability to check like that would improve the experience dramatically.

Needs an update BAD. With the new covid booking space there’s been a lot more traffic on the app. I understand that, but it has become impossible to book a time. For the past 3 days the app has crashed as booking opens up and it’s frustrating. I understand there’s gonna be issues with booking due to the limited spots, but the app not working and crashing is unacceptable. Every single other gym booking service is substantially better than this, and a lot of people are fed up. Fix this!

Please Add the Checkin QR in Apple Wallet. Why the entry card is not integrated in apple wallet. This app is stupid and slow.

New account signup. One of the crappiest apps hands down. If you are signing up for a new account the app asks you to enter 5 digits of something and the sentence cuts off and there is no way to figure out what it is. Well, you can thank me later, it is the 5 digits associated with your credit card or bank account number. What a great cybersecurity practice, asking for banking info when signing up, slow clap!

Fix the app.. The app has crashed everyday when it’s time to book. I’m sat right beside my router to “have the best connection” and it doesn’t even matter, “site is too busy”, then when it finally loads all the reservations are gone. How can you treat every single one of your customers this badly?

Weird System. Definitely weird how a corporate gym in North America with theoretically hundreds of thousands of members and in an age of iPhones and androids running wallet “tap” integrations, the fact my membership is locked away inside the app is crazy. It’s 2024. Just update that! Where’s the dev team

Hidden fees. Don’t buy membership here, a quick cash grab and robbery in a form of business. I got charged double of what I was promised. Once again do not buy membership here…

Wallet app support is mandatory. You know what will get people to not want to go to the gym and thus cancel their membership, inconveniences. This app provides no value aside from scanning in, but it can’t even do that effectively due to how slow the app is. Supporting apple wallet would entirely fix this issue.

Waste of time. Worst app in a history of mankind.

Bad app.. Very slow on oepning I have to push on the membership multiple times to work and show the QR code which is a silly way to sign in to the gym Should have a wallet card for easy access This has one explanation , no update or any kind of maintenance to this app.

Garbage app. Tried to make my account only for it to ask for a account number of something that gets cut off so there’s a random 5 digits of something I need to make my account and when I figure it’s for the first 5 digits of the card used to pay it tells me it’s the wrong number then OOP too many attempts try again. If I could have a conversation with the team in charge of this app I’m pretty sure I’d have a more insightful interaction with a bowl of fruit, I truly don’t understand how multi million/billion dollar company’s have no issue in providing ether awful customer service or just awful service in general. Whoever designed this app and is in control of it should promptly disable themselves from making any purposely frustrating applications by sticking a ice pick in their eye socket and giving it a good wiggle, after that you’ll probably be more use to society.

Messages glitch …. Latest version has a glitch with messages. Icon says I have a message but nothing in messages folder. Happens after each visit to a club.

Don’t bother if you get a new phone. Get ready for a headache if you decide to get a new phone. This app is a complete waste of time. I lost 2 hours of my day trying to get it work. Finally got to log in and it has no information of my account. Signed out to see if it would update and now it tells me my account is is invalid! I’m done!

Little help for everyone.. If you’re reading this. The best way to get a time is to pull up exact time by second and push refresh exactly the second it turns 6:00PM(for me) Also I believe the system hasn’t accounted for the time change and is still resetting an hour earlier :) good luck!!

No Apple Wallet integration. It’s 2023. I can’t believe this app doesn’t have Apple Wallet integration. For people who just show their membership, this app doesn’t make sense.

Ugly app. Why is this app so ugly. Isn’t this company, with over 700 locations and almost $2 billion dollars in revenue able to afford a decent looking app? Did the CEO’s nephew make this app??? What’s going on?

Missing Wallet Support. Many of my membership apps use location services and the iPhone Wallet. When I’m near the location I can just tap the notification from my lock screen and my membership barcode pops up ready to scan. This saves the time of looking for the app, opening the app, finding the membership tab to access the barcode. Seems like a really simple fix that could make this app so much better. I would for sure update the star rating with this addition!

17+ rating?! And privacy complaint.. Really, you felt the need to create your own browser and therefore forcing this app to have a 17+ rating? This makes it impossible to install on certain devices for my family due to parental restrictions. And, you are really forcing this use of this app so that you can sell our location data. That’s insane given the price of LA fitness. If you weren’t, you’d allow use of the old school keychain cards. Please get rid of the custom browser, stop selling our location, and bring back physical cards.

Good functionality, plenty of room to grow/improve. The app works well on my iPhone and seems to accurately list the club class schedule and trainer availability. The UI is pretty basic, it could definitely look more slick and up-to-date, but it does work well and is fairly self explanatory. It would be great if the app offered some integration with other popular fitness apps like FitBit and My Fitness Pal - I believe a lot of the more popular apps have APIs for this purpose.

Comically Bad.. I’ve written less than four reviews on the App Store ever, and I only do so when I’m truly astounded by something. This app is comically bad. It’s needs to be completely redone. I think if I was given two weeks of coding practice I could come up with something just as good. LA fitness, I love your gyms but PLEASE have this app redone. It’s almost unbelievable how paper frail and poorly put together this thing is. And if you only fix ONE THING, PLEASE JUST PUT MY MEMBERSHIP CARD ON THE BEGINNING SCREEN. That is the only reason I use the app, and it should not be buried in any sort of menus. It should be the first thing I see. Thanks.

How to Open Up the Membership Card Quickly. For those who are having trouble getting their membership card to pop up quickly, I found a way to access it fast. First, tap the 3 lines (menu) on the top left of the app homepage. Then tap on “Mobile Membership Card” and you should get it to open fast no problem. I’m glad I found this out.

Freezes Often & No Longer Syncs Calendar. I only use the app for contactless check-in & for reservations with trainer. After reserving a time with trainer it would add date automatically to my calendar. After update, when I choose an appointment with my trainer, it just spins & spins & I can’t go backwards or forwards. I have to quit the app & enter appointments manually. But when I go back to reservations in the app, all my appointments are there. They just aren’t syncing with my calendar. What a pain.

Class availability and selection not great. I would like to have a wider search area when searching classes by type. The app only uses your current location, there is no place to put in other locations. My membership is statewide, not just at my current location. The class times and selections are not impressive to begin with so having to look for the class I want at each individual club is very tedious. At least if I could search by class type and then increase the search radius then I could see my options nicely. Please adjust the app if I am to give a higher rating.

Good But Wish it tracked the days I worked out. The app serves its purpose well as it’s convenient to have my membership card on my phone and being able to find a convenient location and my favorite classes with a few taps. I wish it tracked my visits to the gym on a calendar and gave me the option to track my workouts instead of me having to go to a separate app to do that. Alternately it also be nice to have other apps integrate with it to have the same functionality.

Absolutely horrible. I have been a member since the early 1980s I started off with Jack laLane membership and paid for lifetime. If it’s too expensive to actually give them and once in a while, they do make a repair like after several years. The Jacuzzi and Levittown only had one jet running. They finally added the other jets. Basically it is just another one of those clubs that once they get your membership dues, they are pretty much done with you unless you would like to buy additional add-ons

The app works but is more like a 2006 app.. Considering how poorly this app is designed, I genuinely worry about the security of the app. With that out of the way, it's 2022. Why can't I see class schedules beyond the current day? I have clicked every button in the app and have not found a way to change the dates. If I search for personal training by date and time I get zero results. It doesn't matter which length I pick. I have to go into the trainer section and voila, there is all the dates/times I was looking for. Wild. This application needs to take user feedback seriously. Security needs to be #1 while the usability needs to be updated to modern times. This pre-2010 based application needs real programmers and developers doing it. Spend the good money on IT LA Fitness.

Simple is best. Both the website and the app are wordy and complicated. I can’t register in the app because it asks me to “enter the first 5 digits of the account used for...” and then the text truncates. Could you not simplify the text? Could you not add a second line and wrap the text. There are classes listed on the website that don’t show up in the app. The website has 3 different schedules for three types of classes and in the same level menu they have three more links to sign up for each different type of class. Burn it and start again.

Unable to change devices on new version rendering contactless useless. The device I had for contactless check in broke so I started using a different device. I logged in with my new phone but went trying to use the contactless check in, I receive an error that I must check in using old device. I am unable to do that since the old device is broken rendering that feature useless now. The associates and the gym was clueless on how to reset my app. The work around is checking in with my phone number but that defeats the purpose of contactless check in.

Needs a lot of work. This app has the most outdated UI choice and I think the menus should be revamped. 24 hour fitness has a much better UI and you should redo the whole app. It works for signing in but that's about it. Actually try to make. The UI better as d make it more user friendly. The competition gyms app is so much better and have 4 star reviews while this app has 2-3 which discredits people from going here. The website needs work too and I can even make a better website in a week than the one you have currently. Redo the UI of the app and website because it looks like an iOS 4 app.

Nice!. I love using this app because it gives my all the information I need to keep up with LA Fitness. If there’s construction, it tells me. If there’s a closing, it tells me. Holidays, the same thing. Also I like the schedule info for classes and trainers. One idea I do have, is there should be an audio player on this app to let you listen to the LAF’s music in my headphones. Sometimes their playlist is better than mine 🤪

Needs Improvement. Westfield - 146th St (Indiana) doesn’t list racquetball courts as an amenity (they have 5). Which may be why when you try to reserve a court in the app, the location will not come up(?) so you can’t reserve a court. Also the contactless check in doesnt work. Lastly, too many clicks to get to your membership card (it takes 3, counting opening the app). Since I assume the membership card is what 95% of the app use is, your membership QR should display immediately when opening the app

Functional. I like being able to check class schedules, seeing how many checkins I’ve got, and being able to “favorite” locations/classes/instructors. My biggest complaint is the % visual on the checkin log! For example, it says 21/30 visits the past 30 days = 70% but the visual looks like 5%! Other than that, I think it works well enough for its intended purpose!

Filing a Fraud Against LA Fitness Shortly. Me, along with my two other friends, opted into personal fitness plan for one month. However, after I signed the contract, they Manager at the gym opted us for 12 months without our consent and knowledge. The manager added 12 months after I signed because at the time of signing, I and my friends did not see the 12 months, but blank space. My friends are the witness and we requested the manager multiple times to cancel the contract after the first month. We wanted to learn the basics for one month only and we explicitly stated that from the very beginning of our conversation. Therefore, after the first month, Me and neither of my two friends continued the personal fitness plan. And LA Fitness is charging me every month $280. I’m charging frauds against LA Fitness and the Manager at Herndon LA Fitness, Virginia. His description: White Male with Long Blone Hair.

Make this app more useful!!!. For this app to go along with the gym, it should be able to do so much more than what it is right now. It should allow you to track your progress in the gym and set personal goals for yourself. I basically have this app for no reason. I have to download another app that will allow me to do all of these things. I would even add something on there where people can choose workout partners on there and everyone has an accountability partner. We pay enough in the initiation fees and such for this app not be of any use especially when you are a member.

It can’t be this hard.. So the app was finally fixed to allow members to pull up their membership card and simply display it without using location services. Just don’t get a new phone. I did, and I downloaded the app fresh and signed in. Now it says I have to activate the membership card in a club. The customer service rep at the counter at my club has no idea why it says that and said there is nothing they can do. This seems like a bare minimum function and even this can’t be done right.

Disappointment. The app just doesn’t open every time i reach the LA Fitness location even after selecting the option. The customer support wouldn’t refund my membership charge where I’ve requested for cancellation on the date, which is ridiculous. I have to come in person to cancel the membership, until then they will loot my money. Stupid and unbelievable terms and conditions, the app is buggy and hangs always. As a customer, I would want to join again in future but with these terms & reasons i guess I’m done with it.

How is it this bad?. I rarely have such scathing feedback for a mobile app, but this one has been consistently bad since I first used it in 2020. It has received no helpful updates; accessing my membership card is a hassle as it creates several pages inside of the app if I tap the Membership Card option, and the design makes little sense. Outsourcing the development of your application is fine, but ensure you at least revisit its functionality and relevance for its users. Product (if they exist) needs to take a closer look at this and make some small wins to improve performance and usability.

App is trash. This is the worst app on my phone. You try to open your membership card, it freezes and then flashes a million times. You try to look up class schedules, the search doesn’t work. You click on a specific class type, and it takes you to your messages… why? LA Fitness doesn’t care about fixing these issues because you already bought into the membership ($) and you have no choice but to use the app. This is common business practice in software product development. Source: I work in software.

Clean, friendly and very good equipped. I’m very satisfied with my choice, I went to several gym’s that are more expensive than La Fitness and the only difference is in the price in my opinion. The staff is friendly and big thanks to Dan C. that answered all my questions and helped me to make the best membership for me it made me feel very good! P.S. give him a raise! 💪🏼

Great when it works. This app has been pretty great when it works. However, lately I have been having issues with it. I get it we’re coming out of a pandemic & this app is prob getting lots of traffic. However, every time I try to open the card via the contactless button it doesn’t show up. When I hit the membership card on the menu it asks me to get closer to a center which I’m right outside of. Not to mention the tracking system of when you go doesn’t work half the time.

Password reset and contacts to the corporate office. This is the worse app! I cannot see my contract for PT and I know I have paid for the entire contract but however they are still charging me. I called back in October to ensure my last payment was December 2017. I was done with this contract and didn’t agree to a new contract. I tried to reset my password and now I am completely kicked out of the app. I used my membership number and couldn’t get back in. But, I decided to book a PT session and automatically that was available to me and a list of available trainers. I smell rip off!

iWatch Needs Work. My gripe is the iWatch feature is painfully bad, so much I never use it. When you use the iWatch to check in it loads every time but when you move your wrist in any slight way which is ‘unavoidable’ the screen always turns off defeating the purpose... this is fixable. Developers open your Starbucks app and use the pay feature to understand the concept a little better.

Can’t get my scan card on my watch. I had an Apple series 2 and recently upgraded to a 3. I cannot get it to load the membership card on my watch. It just keeps saying to open the app on my phone. Been there, done that multiple times! Even deleted the app and reinstalled. Nothing. It worked just fine on my old watch and yes before you ask, my old watch has been unpaired from my phone and now my mom has it and it was also restored to the default settings. Help!!!!

Doesn’t work on Apple Watch. I loved the Apple Watch version of the app that allowed me to check in to the club with my watch...until it stopped working. The Watch app wouldn’t load and would instruct me to log into my phone app. Phone app works with no problems. I was hoping the latest update would fix the Apple Watch issue. It didn’t. So the Watch app is still instructing me to log into the phone. I’ve tried removing the Watch app and reinstalling, and logging out of the phone app and logging back in and the Watch app is still useless.

So much better. The new update of this app makes it so seamless, checking in from the parking lot (contactless check-in), class scheduling, they even have a feature were you can give friends or family 2 week memberships to LA for FREE through the app! Definitely a 5 star app and I appreciate them fixing minor issues in the past for an over all better experience with my membership.

App Security. I think the app works pretty good except for when it tells me I need to activate my mobile membership card on this device in the LA Fitness club. I can’t figure it out. It has done this to me several times. At one point it is working great then out of the blue I’m being told that I need to activate in the club. Now it seems to be doing it quite frequently and frankly it’s starting to confuse my me, because it will refuse to log me in. Other than that, it’s been working great. I checked out my phone from top to bottom, and couldn’t find anything wrong on my end. None of my other apps are acting up. I deleted and reinstalled your app numerous times which allowed me to sign back in, but now it forces me to stay signed in, because it has become repetitive.

Absolute garbage. This app is a webview and is terrible to use. The styling looks like it was created in the 90s. There are many times i tried booking personal training on this app and the button doesn't work. Other buttons on the app appears to load up an infinite spinner (server timed out?). The only good thing I like about the app is the ability to load up your LA fitness gym membership card when you are close to a location. Otherwise, I'm absolutely unsatisfied with the overall ability of the app - considering the $$ i pay for personal training. Ridiculous!

Won’t let me create a login.. I have been a member of LA Fitness for five or six years. I predate the app check-in. When I recently moved to a different state, I finally downloaded the app. No matter what I (or any LA Fitness staff member) do, the app will not recognize my barcode number. I’m in the LA Fitness system as a member. The app is not communicating properly with their system. As a result, I can check in only with my phone number, not a big deal, unless they take phone checkin away. You’d think, with all the negative reviews, they’d revamp their app so it works correctly.

Even the Employees Hate it. I have been trying to make sense of this app for nearly a year. I set up an account and found the thing to be useless and so deleted it. Then I needed it again to get visitor passes and when I tried to reset my password I ended up in an endless loop. The employees at my gym told me that happens all the time because the company doesn’t support the app and that I would just need to create a new account. The app makes customer’s and employee’s lives more difficult. It’s a complete failure. Also, customer service won’t email you back even though they promise to get back to you within one business day.

Love it!. I usually take classes at the gym so this app is very helpful in knowing if there's going to be a substitute for any of my classes and it also helps me find other gyms near me that might have classes that I want to take and who is teaching them. Also, something very neat, is that I can click on an instructor's name and it will tell me where this person teaches as well so if I like my instructor, I can follow her at her other classes.

People need to learn to read. I keep seeing people complain that once they use their phone to show their membership card, that their cards no longer works. Can you people not read?? When you click on membership card on the app, it tells you that your card will only be linked to one device. And that your plastic tag WILL NO LONGER WORK!!! Don't complain about something, if you don't take the time to read what the app says.

Interferes with other functions on iPhone X. TLDR: Do not use under any circumstances. After I installed the app, I started seeing various strange software malfunctions on my iPhone X. Most notably, the photo image picker in Messages would no longer populate. Restarting the phone would restore proper operation but only for a few hours, even if I never opened the app. So I started deleting recently added apps. Upon removal of the LA Fitness app, everything immediately returned to correct function. It looks like the app is doing something wrong in the background. Apple should pull this app from the store as it appears to have harmful side effects that break unrelated features.

So many issues.... If all you want is to check in via your phone, this works...sometimes. Over the past week there were two days where my checkin did not appear on my calendar of visits and it shows I did not attend the gym, so it’s hit or miss for even this basic function. - the user interface is convoluted and unnecessarily difficult - searching for your location is a laborious process (clicking into a map, zooming in, trying not to tap on your own location icon if you happen to be at the gym while doing this) - you cannot see your gym’s hours of operation for the week, only for that day - it’s ugly (I am a designer, so this might not bother you) and looks like it was designed by engineers who just had a list of features that needed to be coded Again, if all you want is to not carry a card, this can work, but it’s not consistent even for that function, so don’t expect much.

Pretty useless app. I can only use it to check in. Then when you receive a notification to give feedback, you can only say if it’s clean or not, which btw it’s usually not very clean, and I can’t expect anything different when they only have one person in charge of it in the whole place. No way to give an opinion on the POOR VARIETY OF EQUIPMENT at Cedar Park, TX location, lack of VERY basic ones such as…Bulgarian, sissy squats, Nordic curls…Also no hip thrust machine, no hack squat machine, no pendulum, and I could keep going; but they do have room for not one, but four calf machines 🤯, and two horrible linear squat ones 😔.

Tracking My Visits. The only issue I have with the app is that it doesn’t track 50% of my visits. Thankfully, I track them on my personal calendar, but it’s just irritating. It would be nice to look at the calendar the app provides and see all of the yellow bubbles lit up like they are supposed to be. It’s motivating when I see that. I feel like it’s an easy fix - I don’t know if it has anything to do with the fact that there’s never anyone at the desk when I scan (maybe the scans need to be confirmed by an employee), but I would just like that to be fixed.

Please stop asking me to rate my visit. Cmon dudes. I like that the app pulls up my membership card, but for that, I need notifications on your app. That’s fair. But if I turn on notifications, you ask me after (nearly) every visit to rate my visit, with seemingly no option to turn it off. So now I turn off the notifications on your app, and can’t use the features I do like. I go to LA Fitness everyday, I like it. I use the LA Fitness app everyday, I do not like it.

Account already exists when renewing my account. I restarted my account after a few years but I can’t sign in with error “account already exists” using my tag ID and I can’t reset password. Apparently I need to call customer service as the front desk staff said they could fix it, but then couldn’t. And customer service is only open weekdays 8am-3pm. Very poor new customer experience. Will update it if I get it resolved. Planning to just use my phone number instead when I arrive for now.

Works but needs improvement. I started using this to scan in once I kept forgetting my key card which was getting too worn to read anyways. It works, but can be slow to load. The proximity notification works most of the time, but not always; which requires location access at all times. It would be nice if they made it so it works with apple wallet. It allows you to track attendance, but seems to always have missing days.

Needs to review ratings.... Developers need to focus on customer requests for features and correctly working product. The fact there is no end-user configuration for defaulting to display membership card upon loading is absolutely absurd, hence 1 star. Focus appears directed on supporting ads. Unnecessary default configuration on system iOS settings for App violate basic privacy rights and need to be clearly informed to end-user as to why each is configured. There is absolutely no reason for Background App Refresh unless you want(...) which if you only want membership card then it’s intrusive at a minimum and unethical.

A good start. This is handy for checking into the gym, and to look up classes. However it is really annoying that you can’t set a preferred home gym. To have to look at a map, then select your gym in order to look at the class schedule is Capital A Annoying. Then If you do select some preferred classes so that you don’t have to go the map route, you get constant push notifications. Also the design is pretty primitive. With a few tweaks this could be a much better user experience!

Improvement needed ASAP. You guys should implement a way to cancel memberships through the apps. Yes you will lose money in the short run, but in the long run people will remember the convenience of signing up and canceling their membership from their phone and will come back. Also you should be able membership options and pricing which you can’t as of now. It’s time to throw away the old scum bag business tactics. Make the change while the capital is still in a good place.

New App Release!! Ftw. I never write reviews. But this was 180° turnaround to an app that actually is fastest on my iPhone for what it does. It should’ve been fast. And now it is flawless fast and just what I needed. Great job development team. You deserve a reward for taking something that was an annoying app that I hated, to something now that I am happy to use when I have to use it. Keep up the good work.

App never works. Almost every time I try to open my membership card when I arrive at the gym, it won’t open. It says I must be in the gym to open it, yet every time this has happened, I was standing in the gym. Also I don’t believe the group class schedules are updating. Classes were cancelled around the holidays, but the app is still saying that they are cancelled even though I’ve attended some of these classes since. Please work on this app. The app would be great if the features actually worked!

Cancellation. Signed up for membership today. Just want to say that having to cancel between 9-5 or *mail* something in is absolutely absurd. During signup and on the app, it’s clear LA Fitness has decently modern systems and the only reason cancelling online/app isn’t available is as a deterrence for people to be able to cancel, hoping you get an extra month or two out of people. I hate starting a relationship with a gym on this sour note and fuel companies should help foster a healthier relationship with this customers. For the love of god add cancellation to your dev backlog!

Nice app. I use the app to reserve trainers. It is straight forward and easy to use. I also like to look for classes. There are several LAFs in my area and a map pops up to choose a gym location. Although that is a nice feature, it would be better is the first choice defaulted to the members associates gym. I like the class descriptions and the exercise explanations on the app. They are helpful and an appropriate length so as to not overwhelm the listener:)

Deceptive compny. I’ve had a harder time breaking a lease than canceling my membership with this awful company. The app will not allow me to login to get the second cancellation form required to cancel both name on my account. I have reset the account password to no avail. I have called and was told they could not do anything over the phone. The weird thing is my wife’s login info suddenly would not work after I requested my cancellation form, so I cannot get hers (both are required to be sent to LA Fitness HQ). It is 2020, this practice is intentionally painful to the customer and completely unethical.
