Background checkins not functional. I acquired this app to do automatic check ins on Foursquare. I've been using it up until iOS 7, where it stopped functioning. The current release does not seem to automatically check me into my Foursquare places. When I try to connect with application support, I am redirected to the app download page. :/

Such an awesome app. If you need something that will track your location in the background, this is it. Has worked perfectly for me for years.

Flawless on iOS v4.0. This works great if you are running iOS v4.0. Yes it cashes on v4.1, but the Developer has notified Apple of the crashing issues and it should be fixed when v4.2 comes out. Once this is fixed you'll love this app. If you're not on v4.1 yet, I'd buy it, but if you are, you should wait for an update to resolve the crashes.

Great way to update Latitude w/o killing your battery. I use this app to maintain my Latitude history. Since it allows you to set the update intervals, you get a good approximation of where you've been without killing your battery. The auto-checkin features are nice, but I don't use them.

perfect after the ios4.2 update. I really like this app. it's perfect for road trips. its ui and icons could use tweaking but otherwise works as advertised. ability to fine-tune update frequency is super nice. for those complaining about background update not working there was an iOS bug in 4.1 which is fixed in 4.2

Not working as expected. Bought this to update my location so my wife could see where I am during commute via running, biking, or car. I have the latest iOS. Crashes constantly and does not update location as expected in the background unless I manually bring the app to the front. Very disappointed. Allow the google app to get through Apple!!!!!!!!

I feel sorry for this developer, Google made this app totally unnecessary. I'm glad this developer did this app because it provided a service when Google would not. Unfortunately for him, Google has now added a free Latitude app rendering this one obsolete. I don't see anything in this app that makes it better than the free one from Google and I've used both. Thanks!

Best so far. This app is much better then the official google client so far. If I look at my track on the history page of latitude and it is much more accurate on days using this app then the other client. With the other client there are points several miles away from anywhere I traveled. Improvements that would help this app: - send location when power status changes. That way it would send when getting in and out of car. - enable different set of options when plugged in. I bet this is an iPhone limitation with SLC events.

Absolutely the Best!. If you are even debating buying this then just buy it. Hands down the best location app for multiple reasons: 1) This app takes battery life seriously unlike every other location app out there including Google's own Latitude app. I do not even notice a dip in my battery life with this running in the background. 2) Accuracy is not sacrificed. Somehow the location accuracy is perfect even though I use the default GPS timeout which to me is the most important part of the app and something no one else has. 3) Offline support! Personally, I like having every point saved and with this app you get that! Even if you have no data it will monitor your GPS changes and push them online once you have a data connection. Lastly, the developer is quick to fix bugs and adds features all the time!

Very bad service. I paid for the service and I didn’t receive the code for the location. I want my money back.

Almost perfect. Icons were hard to press but new update fixed this! I only wanted it for the background updating anyway which is flawless! Previous bad reviews are due to a bug that was fixed in iOS 4.2, not the developers fault!

Not as good as Latitudie. Does not use the native Latitude API. No option for updating at fixed intervals (you have to rely on iOS location events) Buggy

Cannot log in.... ...to google when 2 factor authentication is enabled. Known bug for weeks, no response to support emails. :-( UPDATE: the app got updated, but not fixed.

Amazing!. This app is great. I can't believe apple finally approved it after months in limbo. Perfect solution for keeping latitude updated without killing your battery.

Never sends code to verify phone number and locks account if you request. I’ve been using this to track family on Android and IOS for several years with no problem. When I got a new phone I needed to verify the phone number again. But the code never comes through. Requested it again 30 minutes later and nothing. Deleted app and reinstalled and requested and it locked my account. Very frustrating. Can’t see a way to get service.

Works as advertised. I'm glad this got finally approved. Now we need a google voice app to get approved. One thing I'd like to see is a "open in maps" button.

Auto checkin!. I like how it keeps my latitude and foursquare status up to date in the background while using very little extra battery power. Wish it would only display the GPS status icon when it was actually using GPS, tho.

Awesome, just what I've been looking for. I've been looking for a good Latitude app that will update my location in the background. This one is it! Update: it is no longer updating Latitude in iOS 4.1

Does not auto checkin to Facebook. This would be an absolutely excellent app but the whole reason I got it was for its ability to auto checkin to Facebook. I have tried absolutely everything and it will not work. If you want it for four square then that works perfectly! Can't wait till this is fixed.

Good app. Using it since Latitude, serious developer. Maybe you could introduce the metric system as option in the app? For European users. On the web you have it.

Stops updating in iOS 4.1. Works ok for a while, but regularly stops updating about halfway through my daily commute (I don't have data dead spots... I can stream audio the whole trip...). I am running iOS 4.1, so maybe an app update will fix things.

Latitude check in while using little power. I have has this app installed on my phone for more than a year and like that I don't need to worry about it working. Just set it up and leave it. It will take care of the rest without eating up all of your battery.

Excellent.. Still some FB errors but latitude and four square seems to be working well.

Does not work in iOS 4.1. Does not do anything in the background in iOS 4.1 I have to launch the app manually to see my updates. Update to software was released today and does not fix anything. Warning: Don't waste your money. Developer also has not responded to me.

Finally a good latitude app. After wasting money on the other latitude apps I'm happy to say I finally found "THE ONE" Not only is my location updated in the background, but I can see my friends location. W00t!

POS. What a piece of dog feces. This app is a ripoff because my friend's location still shows the old location of our apartment we lived in three months ago. Whenever I check on his location while he's on the other side of town, it still shows the old location. Fu*k you placetrack!!!

Update for Google+ location?. Now that latitude is officially dead are u Nico going to update to work with the google+ location to have the app work or now it's just going to be only for Facebook and foursquare. Looking forward to an update. Otherwise still best app for auto checkin and battery savings

Does not update in background. Both my wife and I purchased this app and it doesn't work. need to constantly open app to update. Waste of money in our opinion. We deleted app

Crashing Issues. Have not been able to use. Keeps crashing both on iOS 10 and iOS 11.

No background 3G. Background doesn't work on 3G. Only 3GS and 4. Want money back!!!

nice but.... at least under 4.1 only updates when I manually open application was hoping it would update in background so latitudes trending features would work again

Better then google app but no 2 step login. Battery life much better then google latitude app. More options. Seems more accurate. Update: still like this better then google's app but it will not login if you enable 2-step verification on google. The application specific passwords do not work. Would be 4 stars if they fix that.

I love this app. This app is what google should have done instead of their silly web portal. I can't wait for the update with the larger map view.

AutoCheck-In Setup Failed. The app failed when I tried to set up auto check-in. It repetitively pops up a message saying “AutoCheck-In Setup Failed - The operation couldn’t be completed. (kCLErrorDomain error 5.)” Please help fix this.

Works great. I have tried several apps to update Latitude and this is the only one I would replace the official Google app with.

No Google Latitude Friends. I have had lots of trouble with the Google Latitude App so I purchased this one thinking I could use it instead. However It does not show your friends but will simply update your location on Latitude.

New release and it's fantastic!. Best app ever found to share your location on the fly with friends. I've had the pleasure of owning this app for a long time now and, apart from it becoming unusable when latitudes closed down (from my perspective), I have now been working closely with the developer to get this release available and assisted with beta testing. I'm so happy this new version now available for people. You are foolish if you don't buy it! ;). It works great and many great improvements still to come.

Crashes on IOS 4.1. ✓ check out where your contacts are (thumbnails are shown on map or list view) once you confirm each other as friends -Actually I couldnt find this feature. ✓ Facebook support: update your Facebook wall with location data, a map and an optional text -It doesnt work on IOS 4.1. crashes. Please fix the bug for iphone 4 on iOS 4.1 ✓ battery friendly background mode: the application suspends on exit and is woken up only when you move significantly (detected using cell towers signal); most of the time it just sleeps and the GPS hardware is powered off to preserve battery -How can I know whether the GPS is being used or the cell tower signal is being used ? Please clarify this. After exit the GPS signal shows on the top. ✓ your current location (address and gps coordinates) with altitude and speed (if available) are always displayed on the application main screen and included in Facebook status updates -Couldnt do that yet.

Excellent App!!. Although long overdue this app was well worth the wait. Far better than all other latitude apps in the store. Highly recommended. There have been reports of crashing on OS 4.1, but I'm still running 4.0 and everything is swell. Keep up the good work Nico!

Works as advertised =). Apple's new app review process has made me happy. I got an unexpected email and it was good news, PlaceTrack was available! So far my latitude has been updating :-)

Fart app. Will this be fixed soon?. Can't stress how upset I am. Core app ability to update location has bugs and there's no reason to leave this app running. This app updates location only when i am about 6 blocks+ away from my last location which is useless. Turned on debugging and this app self restarts alot. Note to author, please give up updating location based on cell tower because that simply does not work well in the real world. There is a reason why google latitude on the blackberry updates periodically. Do fix this app to update location periodically and allow user configurable intervals i.e. every 10 mins or less if the ios4 permits. Sorry to bash this but for now this app is in absolute fart app status - no joke
