App Features
• Watch live TV and change channels on the move
• Playback your EyeTV recordings
• Browse the Electronic Program Guide and view detailed information
• Start recordings back home on your Mac immediately or schedule them to record later
• View and edit your recording schedules in the recording list
• Use the free My EyeTV service to connect to your home Mac via the internet
• Stream live TV or your recordings to the big screen via AirPlay

Easy Setup
There is no need to reconfigure your local Wi-Fi network. Simply activate the option "iPhone/iPad Sharing" in the EyeTV preferences. Sometimes, fully automatic configuration may not be possible outside of your local network. Please see www.geniatech.eu for details.
If you’re using the OS X firewall, be sure to allow incoming connections for both EyeTV and EyeConnect. EyeTV uses port 2170. If that doesn’t let you connect, try turning off the firewall and turning it back on again.

Great for Casual TV Watching. I've not had any of the issues that some reviewers have mentioned (like lockups or inability to play video). While the interface can be a little annoying (like having to scroll through hundreds of cable channels instead of being able to just type in a channel number) the application DOES work and it does exactly what it says it does. I've used it both remotely and from within my home network and it performs quite well in both situations (which is impressive considering I have trouble doing this with local web/ftp servers). While the user interface could use some sprucing up and some new features would make it more usable (e.g. a full program schedule/grid rather than just one channel at a time) it is a perfectly acceptable solution. Perhaps if enough people show some interest in this, buy it and offer some constructive criticisms , the authors will improve on it and add some more features in later releases.

Works for me. Configuration is a no-brainer as long as the boxes are checked in the companion EyeTV software. Immediately had access to content on both iPhone and iPad within my home network. Was surprised to find content streamed successfully to my 1st Gen. iPhone via Edge. I don't recommend it, but works in a pinch. Streaming on public wi-fi has been a mixed. Appears some hotspots block such content to manage bandwidth, but streaming has been reliable on those systems that allow it to pass, and picture quality is perfectly adequate for the iPhone. And it's great to be able to schedule recordings on the fly. One caveat: I have a fixed IP address for home broadband, so can point directly to that address for access. Can't vouch for the My EyeTV option. I'll give it five stars when Elgato releases a version specifically for the iPad.

Still not working with EyeTV 4. Still doesn’t work with eyetv 4. The channels appear but no image when navigate to that channel.

Works good might take some patience though. First of all you need a Mac and an Eye TV for this app to work. Second I have an Eye TV 250 and a macbook so I can only speak to how well the app works with these products. Streaming Tv works great, u only get channels up to like 75, but you should know that already if u have an Eye TV. Also I would suggest downloading the newest version of the Eye Tv software before using the app, I had issues with watching videos from my library until I downloaded the newest Eye TV software. But if you are on a wireless network on your phone and you left your computer on with the Eye TV plugged in you can, Watch live TV, watch recorded programs that have been converted to iphone format, check your recording schedule, check your tv guide and set up recordings all from your phone. The resolution is Ok, not HD and also it seems if you don't hold you iphone relatively steady the picture will blur, other than that it is a super cool app. for the cost, the similar sling box app is like $30

Doesn’t work for iOS 14.4. Please make it work for the latest versions!

This App is excellent. This App is excellent, But it depends on the Processor performance of your computer. Don't listen to the bad views that say there skipping or out of sink video. I experienced all this The problem is the performance of their computers. Suggestion if you don't have the Turbo 264 HD try to keep any Live Tv Windows from opening when EyeTv starts up if your going to watch remotely it saves your processor thats what I did and that alleviated the problem I opened Activity Monitor and notice the processor usage when it was skipping and out of sink so I closed the Live Tv Wndow and that free up some processor utilization and the skipping and/or sink issue stopped. I got the Turbo 264 and now I can prepare a recording for export to watch and watch Live Tv at the same time while waiting for my recording to expot all from my iPod Touch 4g with no skipping or sink issues. So don't worry go head and but this App I recommend it.

Fantastic app. First, you should setup the server end first and get the green light before you buy the app. I have a complex setup that took some tweaking (mac connected via Ethernet to a time capsule acting a bridge to a DHCP serving router that is connected to the cable modem) to get a green light. I bought the app after that and it is really great. If they added search to the program guide it bould be even better but I guess they need something for ver 2. Also could add ability to setup a repeating recording. If AT&T would just get in the act and allow streaming of at least a low quality signal... One could dream. Also, if they added some functionality to access other user recordings that are not eyetv it would be cool. Still, interface is very clean and it works like a champ.

Updated: working better. I bought an EyeTV HD this summer so when I'm away, I can still catch my favorite shows. However, after having numerous problems setting the thing up, it worked on my iPad/ iPhone for a day and now it won't connect! And customer service? What customer service? I want to hear a voice....not get an email telling me what they think I should do or what I haven't done. Update: finally got it working on my own but now when I try to watch it on the iPad, the video continuously freezes up. This needs to be addressed quickly. Update again: it's been working properly for a few days so I updated to 3 stars. The quality is still terrible on the iPhone. The iPad quality looks better

Not quite for everyone -. I purchased this on the basis that it would "at least" stream my recorded material to my iPod Touch according to the apps decription. But after downloading it based on its desctiption I come to find out that all recoreded material first has to be converted to H.264 first, and with my G4 it is very time consuming. The app desctiption only stated that I wouldn't be able to view live TV due to my non-core 2 duo machine (which i can accept). I have converted a couple of 30 min shows to the H.264 format (about an hour conversion per show) and come to find out that it didn't work for me anyway. The only use for this product until I plop another $1200 for an new iMac is the schedule of the shows due to broadcast in my area. If you have anything less than a Core2Duo it will be a waste of money, even with the Turbo H.264 add on (that I have also).

To bad. App no longer works in the US and is not updated by the new company.

LEARN TO READ!!!. God people need to learn to read!!!!!!!!!! So many complaints about you having to have a Mac and not being able to stream over 3G. If you would have read the requirements you would see it says you need a Mac and would have saved your money!!!! Also there is NO way right now to stream over 3G because apple doesn't allow it at the moment. They sent an email out saying that and even gave us a website to stream our videos from to get us around the apple "rules". Stop complaining. The app works GREAT! I've had no problems. I was up and running in less than 20 minutes. Well done!

TV support. Please support TV App. Do something, there are still a lot of EyeTV users that want developer activity.

Still great app. Not long ago I was asked if their we're any other features I would like too see and I stated it was perfect the way it is. Of course now that I've had time to think about it I do have one. i stream this over 3G 4g 4g lte. Using a air card that allows 6 gig a month. I would like an option to drop it down below 80 to 56 if possible. I come so close to going over my data plan that I have to stop using the air card about a week before the next months cycle starts over. I know the picture quality will be worse than 80 however I am more into hearing what I have on than seeing while at work 5 days a week 8 to 5. I know I wouldn't go over my data plan at 56. If this is a no go how about a feature to just choose sound to stream. I wouldn't own A Mac if not for this app. Loving it weather you can do this or not.

Great Mac App, better than I first thought. Interface looks nice, with nice integration into my library, and schedules. A good addition that's needed is being able to encode existing files iinto iphone directly from the app. Currently, if I have a recording that I hadn't auto converted, it tells you that it's not playable. So Being able to selecdt convert for iPhone should trigger the Mac client to start converting that file. No longer have an issue with Live TV. Just started working though my Airport is still unsupported when connecting wirelessly. Realized that Live doesn't work with my G5, but with my Intels, it does. Great. I just don't want to update since I get better 3G performance with 1.0.

Absolutely amazing!. Sounded too good to be true...to be able to watch live TV on my 1st gen iPhone away from home, anywhere there's a wi-fi connection. At the time I downloaded the app, the "one star" ratings outnumbered the "five star" ratings, so as a satisfied EyeTV user since Version 1.0, I was going on faith alone. After enabling iPhone access in EyeTV Preferences, next thing I knew, I was watching the Patriots-Broncos game on my two-year-old phone! I didn't even have to open ports on the router, whatever that means. Went out and continued to watch the game at a Starbucks. So far, it's working great! Unbelievably, some giving the lowest rating don't even own a Mac, an obvious (and clearly stated) requirement, which makes it a good bet they don't have the necessary EyeTV hardware/software either!

Just when Eyetv got better, Comcast shut it down.. I use EyeTV with my iPhone 3g, iPad, iMac and PS3. I've been using Eyetv for 2 years, and only recently has the product become good with it's support and bug fixes. Now that we are awaiting the iPad resolution update to the app, it's too late. Comcast in Maryland last week encrypted all but the 5 local QAM channels. So unless you are already used to paying extra for a set top box with Verizon FIO$ or DirectTV, you'll be upset to learn that Comcast is now just like the rest of them and requiring you to lease an extra HD box with analog outputs. Now my eyetv has to use low analog resolution mode. Elegato, please come out with a CableCard compatible dongle, or at least cable card software plugin. I don't mind paying for cable service, it's just so stupid having a gigantic HD convertor box sitting under my laptop. By the way, the laptop will overheat with the HD set top box under it.

A few bugs, but works well. I installed this ap on my iPhone 4s and iPad 1. Other than the guide not working when pulling off of wifi when off my home network, I'm fairly satisfied. The 3G download on the iPhone really depends of signal strength, so I plan only to use when I can get a good wifi signal. An important thing to note is that the iPad version will not work properly in portrait mode. It allows live tv but that's about it. I contacted elgato support and they responded within a few days (to be fair it was over a weekend) and suggested trying landscape mode. This works well and is how I would view video content anyway. They are aware there is an IOS problem and I would image they will fix soon... The iPhone version works more or less as advertised. There are a few minor things that don't, but I'm sure they are related to setup or user error. Overall I am pleased with this product.

Bring back the airplay button. The EyeTV app works pretty good, but the airplay button is missing. Prior to iOS 10, the app would stream AirPlay to an Apple TV if AirPlay was selected in the control center. With iOS 10, AirPlay on apps without an AirPlay button as part of the app now defaults to mirroring mode only; there's no way around it. With Geniatech now owning EyeTV, they need to put in a bit of programming effort and add an AirPlay button to this app.

Needs some work. I have used just the webpage on my iPhone to watch my eyetv for a while, so was excited to see the app come out. What's odd is that I can watch live TV on the app ok sometimes, but recorded shows almost always timeout and won't stream, even when I can watch them using the webpage. I don't know why eyetv can stream to the webpage better than to the app. I havent tried it on my local network yet to see how it performs at home, but I normally just watch it on the TV at home. I also have a slingbox, and that iPhone app works fine. I'm hoping for an update soon, but also know Elgato is known to be very slow to fix bugs. I lived almost a year with the bug where my iPhone exports had no sound using the turbo export, and they knew about that bug the whole time.

Great Idea but a few issues. I love the idea and hope therre are continued adjustments to this app. First issue is it crashes quite a bit. I have reinstalled several times and it still seems to crash. It crashes mostly when I attempt to access the guide either throught the guide section, or through the live tv section. I had updated all software before installing app. Second issue is the operation. I think it would be nice while at home to use my iPod as a remote for eye tv. I would like to see channel, volume, and record controls seperate from the live tv and guide menus. I would recommend this app for anyone who uses eyetv, and will increase the stars when the crashing issues have been resolved.

Just ok. First, I had to do everything with firewall listed in the support. The app still wouldn't work until the next day. Your computer must be on and will play the same channel as what you are watching on the iPad. So I don't see the point of being able to view tv while you are away from home since your computer must be on. I haven't tried to record a show yet. Not sure if it records on your computer or the iPad. I have enjoyed eyetv on the iMac but suggest you save your money on this app. The wow factor wore off within a few minutes with all the limitations. I don't want my computer to be sucking kilowatts while I watch a show on the pad. I can just watch on the computer.

Great potential, bad UX/UI. If you have EyeTV on your Mac and want/need access via an iOS (iPhone/iPad), then this is for you. After setting some preferences on the Mac, you can kickback anywhere in the house where you have WiFi access. You can even set it up to view TV from the road (ala Slingbox) should you have the mobile bandwidth. My biggest problem with this app is the poor UI and user experience. Viewing the channels and guides are painfully clumsy and awkward. Changing channels is slow. If they ever fix the UI, this could be a killer app. One other problem is that it won't directly access its sister product, the Elgato HDHomeRun with dual tuners. You must go through the Mac to view the TV. I hope Elgato fixes all these issues in their next major update.

Eyetv iPhone App. I purchased this app when it first became available. It started as a wifi & 3g capable app and then went to wifi and now back to both. I use this app with my Elgato 250+ and the latest version of eyetv 3. Streaming the files in the eyetv library or live tv via wifi has been decent since the first version. Streaming via 3g or if you end up on edge, not so good. I recently purchased the h.264 turbo HD and attached it to the machine running eyetv, which adds an adaptive video capability. This has made all of the difference in the world. Streaming movies, tv shows, live tv, are all excellent. I was walking the dog along the river in the woods and watching deadliest catch on my iPhone.

Very Disappointed. Over the past 5 years I have bought and successfully used 3 products from Elgato and most recently EyeTV 250. Shortly thereafter, I purchased the Eye TV APP for television on my i phone. Unfortunately, I am very disappointed in the Application. After a significant amount of effort, including contacting Elgato, I cannot make it to operate on 3G. My system meets or exceeds all requirements. I am not a "techie", but still I am reasonably technical. In order to test any further, I would have to hire a consultant to explore the litany of possibilities. In fact, I would actually do this, except for the fact that a successful outcome is speculative given the experience of others. Elgato is a fine company, but I feel this Application was prematurely released. Moreover, I strongly believe Elgato should have explicitly provided upfront the many associated caveats associated with the successful operation.

Works just as expected. Before anyone buys this app, I would highly recommend following the link Elgato Systems has in the App Store to their support page. Read the troubleshooting tips for the iPhone connection problems (also applies to the iPod Touch) and make sure you understand their suggestions. If you are planning to use this app on any network with any kind of routing and firewalls, their tech suggestions will prove extremely useful. By doing this, I saved myself a lot of frustration and had my iPod Touch (1st gen.) working in 5 minutes on my network with my EyeTV Hybrid. I would give this app a higher rating, but it is version 1.0.0 and still has a couple rough edges like changing channels -- it isn't as intuitive as the menu on the host computer. It would also be nice to be able to switch from the internal tuner to AV inputs from the iPhone/iPod. I'll keep my fingers crossed for these function improvements in future revisions. But, for the price, I was able to inexpensively add another TV in the house that I can watch anywhere.

A great value for EyeTV owners.. The EyeTV software and corresponding tuners already provide an excelent way to intregrate broadcast/cable TV into your digital media workflow and this app extends that even further. If you have EyeTV for your Mac, you already know how well elgato's software works with the existing Apple ecosystem of multimedia products and the ability to stream live TV anywhere (albiet, with WiFi) completes your existing system with about every feature you might want. The app has very few bugs (very good for an initial release of a complicated app and none are more than an occasional, mild annoyance) and offers great value by offering features of other live TV streaming hardware/software at fraction of the total price. If you own a Mac and iPhone or iPod touch you will not regret buying an EyeTV Hybrid and this app.

Death of EyeTV. I've been using EyeTV for many years. Now the developers have abandoned and it's a useless piece of hardware sitting in my house. When you go to Geniatech's website your ignored. The death of EyeTV in the USA. Who is responsible for this?

Avoid and don't waste your money. They never update this app and crashes too frequently. Works fine on a MacBook Pro (2010 model) running Mac OS 10.6 but on a more powerful imac running Sierra it is total garbage. Video and audio studders and hogs the cpu(s) unlike when running on os 10.6 which barely uses any cpu to live stream.

Horrible tech support. I sent a tech support question in and they sent me a case number but over a week has gone by and they still haven’t contacted me. Very poor company. They don’t care about the customer.

Eye TV and Airplay = Great Program. I've had the Eye TV app for a while and it did a decent job of steaming recorded programs from my mac mini with the Eye TV program on it. Now that airplay is enabled on iOS 4.3, this app is awesome ! Last night, I was able to watch recorded programs that were located on my Mac Mini and stream them to my Apple TV in my bedroom. The quality was actually very nice. I also love the fact that I can put my iPad to sleep and still stream to Apple TV. Another nice feature is that I can use my Apple TV remote to control the play, FF, REW functions when playing recorded shows. It's really very nice and flexible. I'll be recording more shows now, so I can time-juggle my favorite shows. Great app!, especially if you have and Apple TV.

Works with LAN, router settings needed for WAN. I don't understand all the negative reviews. For about five bucks I have another TV in my home. Note that this is add on software for eyeTv that is running on your MAC. If you think this application is going to give you TV channels without the MAC's eyeTV application, you are mistaken. This sure beats my cable TV providers iPad software and channels that it offers. This works very well over the home local area network. One just has to change Apples software firewall settings in the security system preferences. Amazingly, this will start up eye TV on my computer even though it was not previously running. Getting this to Work outside the home LAN over the Internet (wide area network) is more difficult unless you have an Apple airport router. I have DLINK routers that work well but are a little older without the latest port forwarding protocols. Accordingly manual port forwarding by changing some settings is going to be needed to get this to work outside my home. This is all due to the public IP address we all use when accessing the Internet. If you use a dynamic DNS service, I bet this would work better too. They say this works over let/3G cell connection but you better have a great data plan because this will use significant bandwidth. I took off a star because my router would not work immediately.

Very Exciting but low audio. This app works well with my EyeTV duo setup. It sends my cable signal to my iPad through my home wifi or via the internet when I am out and it even works half decent over a strong 3G signal. The only issue for me right now is that the audio seems to be about half the volume of all my other apps when I am streaming to the iPad. I have my bluetooth headphones and ipad cranked to full volume and It is fine in a quiet room but I can barely hear it while I am at the gym or in a car. . . with headphones on. . . that's just silly. . . if it is a known issue I hope they fix it soon. . . if it is strictly my issue because of some setting or glitch I hope they post a way to fix it. Nothing in the help site seems to address it.

Works as Expected.. I installed this through iTunes to my iPod Touch (3rd Gen) and was up and running in a matter of minutes. I've only tested locally, but so far so good. All stations are crystal clear and the response time, when switching stations, is near immediate. The Guide works fine as well as recording and scheduling with the easy to use GUI. My only complaint is that only one device (iPod/IPhone/iPad) can control the station to be watched. So if you install the App on another device and another person wants to watch a different show than you it ain't gonna happen. What this App really is is simply a remote control for EyeTV. I don't own a Slingbox, but this has teased me enough to consider buying one.

Amazing Product. Ignore the one star raters. This is an easy program to set up and simple to use. You can set it up so eyeTV does all the work for you, and all you have to do it click through three menus to start watching recorded TV on your iPhone at the gym (like I do). Very cool app. Get it and follow the instructions, that should take care of everything. My only advice is if you can't get it to work, call eyeTV, they have seemed helpful in the past. Also, if you're looking at getting this and the TV tuner great deal, I would reccomend the upscale recorder - I have the lower grade one. It records great but it takes longer than I expected to render.

Not what I expected. I was so excited for this app. I love my eyetv. I use it all the time. but this app suffers from way to many problems. first of all the positives - you can stream Live TV with just an intel core duo - you don't have to have a core 2 like the disclaimer says. Streaming live TV is pretty awesome when it works. however it doesn't always work. streaming recorded show is also a big pain. it requires your eyetv to export all of your selected shows into an ipod format which takes a long time and eats up a lot of your processor as well as disk space. This is what kills most any show I try to stream cuz its always processing. when you finally stream any video or tv the audio suffers badly. I have had much better success with Air Video. Its cheaper and it converts your recorded shows on the fly so there's no need for all the exporting and processing. I gave it two stars for the additions of watching live tv over air video but I expected a lot more from the developers of this app considering that they are working with their own proprietary format. Get air video instead.

Excellent EyeTV Remote Control. EyeTV is an excellent remote control and completed recording viewer. It works exactly as described and expected when used in this manner. EyeTV has clear menus to schedule recordings, review your recording library, and play recordings on an iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch, or Apple TV. The ability of EyeTV to view live TV is limited and this makes sense once you understand that pads, pods, and other iCritters show H.264 video but commercial TV broadcasts MPEG-2 video. iCritters do not support MPEG-2 as a native format so the Mac running EyeTV 3 is required to convert the video from MPEG-2 to one of the H.264 supported formats on the fly. Older Macs like my 2009 Mac mini struggle with this task. How well your Mac does this transcoding depends on the specific processor and video hardware provided by Apple. Unfortunately Elgato's Mac recommendations are for processors but not video chip sets. Apple's OpenCL software lets the video board do the transcoding, something that is rapidly evolving as nVidia improves this capability each year.

It's getting there... Well, first of all I'm really very glad that Elgato has finally released this app! It's a great idea and has potential. However, it is very much a 1.0 app right now, and has its fair share of bugs. The first day I downloaded the app, my My Eyetv account worked fine and I was able to connect. However, I received no sound from the app in the Live TV pane. After several reinstalls of both the desktop and iPhone versions, the problem persisted, until it said that my My Eyetv account wasn't working. (I got the "router incompatible" error message, which is odd as I have an Airport Extreme). So, I left it alone for a few days, came back to it today, and suddenly my My Eyetv account is working fine - but once again, I receive no sound. Once these little bugs are fixed, I'll be very happy! Until then, only two stars, as I can't do much without sound :(

Great concept; inconsistent results. My experience is like the majority of reviewers who report that this app is not reliable. When it works, it does what is promised but it soon stops working for no apparent reason. I'm using it in a 20 foot by 20 foot efficiency apartment with fast wifi and all Apple products, including the router, so there are no hardware or net access issues. Email support is very responsive and the online recommendations are sensible but I'm tired of reloading the app and rebooting my Air just because the app stops working. This problem started with my iPad 2 and continues with my new iPad 3G. This app has never worked more than 3 days in a row. Interestingly, I had no problems with the free stripped down method of streaming Elgato recommends you try before you buy. Barring an amazingly effective update in the next few days, will be seeking a refund. For 99 cents I'd accept an app of this low quality...

Ok app, needs iPad version. works great when I'm near my computer... however, when I'm on a different wifi network (like at school for instance) and my computer has fallen asleep the eye tv app won't connect to my imac. I tried connecting to it at home after putting my imac to sleep and the same thing happened. What's the point of this app if you cannot connect to your imac once it's gone to sleep? As far as I know the only solution is to waste electricity and set your imac to not fall asleep at all or set up a schedule for the computer to "wake up" at certain times. Would be much better if they just made the app wake up the computer. If anyone else has a solution to this please feel free to let me know thanks. Release iPad version!!!!!

Nice when it works..... I tried streaming live TV to my iPhone 3G3 (over an Airport Extreme wireless network) and it worked great for a few seconds, then started stuttering. EyeTV 3.2 on the iMac (3.06ghz Core2Duo) crashed and had to be restarted. After reloading it worked again for about 5 minutes, froze and then continued again 30 seconds before stuttering. A quit/restart of EyeTV cleared it up.. When it works, it is nice. Of note, it doesn't play well with multiple iPhones. There is no way to "lock" access to the EyeTV computer; if another iPhone connects to the EyeTV computer, you will get disconnected and they will watch whatever live channel they want. Overall, I think I overspent on a beta product. If the upgrades are free, I think they may have something in a version or two.

Nice app for recorded shows, not so much for Live TV. The interface is nicely organized, and very straight forward to use. There are a couple missing features and one GLARING problem that I've found. One feature that should be there is the option to delete a program from the library. After watching a program I'd like to be able to delete it. While not a huge problem for most people (just delete it later at the computer), those of us that travel can't easily get to our computer for a week or two. Another feature is the "search" feature that is available on the computer's interface. You need to "know" that a program is coming up, or page thru each individual channel's schedule one at a time. You should be able to pull up what is currently on (which you can do) and move forward thru the day, but you can only do that for a single channel at a time. But the biggest problem is watching Live TV. I connected from my brother's house and the video and sound were immediately out of sync. I was disappointed, but the recorded programs were fine. When I got home I tried again and even on the local LAN, the Live TV was out of sync. This needs to be worked on. My SlingBox works great, so I know it's possible. So, overall a 3 out of 5 stars.

Works on local network, but no longer over internet. This app used to be excellent. The whole system was a great solution for taking local broadcast programming and streaming it to your device anywhere you were. Now it only works on the local network within my house. When I am outside of that local network, it pretends like it will work, and everything gets up and running correctly, but then it only streams a black screen with no audio. I wish they would fix it.

Works well on my Apple Airport Extreme.. No significant problems on my iPhone 3GS either locally (WiFi) or remotely on either WiFi or 3G cellular network. You can stream RECORDED videos over 3G, but live TV is only available over WiFi. I also had zero problems with the setup on my AirPort Extreme but I was already a MobileMe user and apparently that means you're router and firewall are good to go with the EyeTV app. For remote access you also need to register for Elgato's free My EyeTV service (just give them an email address and set a password, that's it). My only request for improvements would be to offer landscape viewing in ALL modes (not just during playback) and that Elgato offer a custom setting for the compression to be used for iPhone/cellular access (the default cellullar setting is very highly compressed and doesn't look very good -- it's 176x144 and only 80Kbps). Streaming over WiFi, however, looks very good.

My Eye TV. I am having trouble purchasing TV Guide for scheduling my recordings.I don't buy software in Euros and have contacted the company in Germany via email with no response. There is no way on the website to buy the software in dollars. The shows are look pretty on my 27" iMac. I could use a stronger signal. I use a Radio Shack digital air antenna to get a fairly strong picture. I have a 5K computer and would like to see The Eye TV program start broadcasting sharper video.

Running Mojave? - DON’T GET THIS ! ! !. Three stars because it works with the 6 computers running systems older than 14.0 here but won’t locate the one running Mojave. Needs updating for systems above High Sierra 10.3. (Aug 2022)

Could Improve Greatly. Sometimes I just don't understand companies that develop products. It's like they don't test them or don't ask for feedback from anyone - focus groups are very effective and some of the features that should be and are missing from this app are extremely basic. For one... how do you not have a keypad feature which enables you to just punch in the channel you want. Right now you have to go through a scrollfest of channels in order to get the channel I want - this is very annoying if you have a lot of channels to go through. Another issue is that if you want the app to run the software has to actually be running on your desktop too. So if I am away from home my computer has to be on (which is ok) but why does the app have to be running on the desktop while I am watching it on my iPhone. Another issue is that if you start it using the iPhone you can't then disable the app or turn it off on the desktop - very weird you can turn something on but not off. When I plugged in headphone sound was coming out from only one side - mono? in the 21st century? are they serious? Anyway, intentions aside - this does what it says even over a slower 3G network but it needs some major improvements in order for it to be more than below average.

Buggy, spotty customer support. I've always liked eyetv for my Mac. Decent little tv window and gives acceptable recordings to put video on iPhone/iPad. But it's been a full time job trying to get Eyetv working on the iPhone. It doesn't seem to like my router (even though it works fine with MobileMe and my IP cameras (both within my home network and port forwarded so I have access outside). I've been sending support ore quests to Elgato for 2 weeks now on various eyetv issues and have not got gotten anything other than an automated response. And this is after dopey me paid to upgrade to Eye Tv 3 so I could go pay again to get this app to run. I have been able to get the app to work within my home network (sort of) but it is inconsistent in connecting and the video stalls a lot. I'd be less inclined to write a crappy review if Elgato's customer support was responsive. Right now can't recommend this app.

Difficult to setup, but worth it. Ok, I've had this app for a few weeks now along with the elgato eyetv for Mac. Destroyed my sanity trying to set up live tv for iPad using fios router... Finally gave up. Got an airport extreme router today, adjusted the enable stealth mode in Mac security settings and BAM instant live tv on iPad. Few notes I don't need fios router because I don't have cable. I also connected the airport extreme directly to ethernet connection & called fios tech support for them to release dhcp lease. This setup will not work if you need the guide for your cable box. Very happy with app and eyetv software for Mac allows you to edit your recordings before exporting them, but they need to make it where you can adjust the size of the file you want to export to iTunes.

Excellent addition to an EyeTV system. EyeTV combined with this app has changed the way we watch TV in our house. Firstly, it brings the EyeTV program guide always to hand, and it is easy to quickly pull out the app, check what’s on and click record, all without touching the Mac running EyeTV. Secondly, our kids regularly use the app to watch recordings or live TV without tying up the big screen connected full-time to the EyeTV Mac. Lastly, I have used this from outside my home network on a number of occasions when I’ve been on the road and it works really well. To other reviewers noting problems, it pays to make sure the Mac you’re running EyeTV on has a fast CPU, since EyeTV has to encode the mobile stream on the fly… if you run into problems, run Activity Monitor on the Mac and check the CPU usage. Finally, to use the remote viewing from outside a home network, you have to make a firewall/router port mapping to the Mac, but this isn’t hard to do. Would definitely recommend this app, and at the current price it’s a bargain.

I've been waiting and making my own.. Awesome guys! No offense, but it's about time. So the good is it streams over live tv pretty good even using a core duo. It says you need a core 2 duo but they still let you use a core duo and it works with SD channels very good. HD channels stuttered a lot. I love being able to have my schedules and guide with me everywhere. Not to mention being able to log into any computer with eyetv on it. The bad is that you still have to encode your recording to iphone format before you can stream it. I know you don't have to do this since a novice like me has used cytv to compress my recordings on the fly to stream it on the iphone. If ffmpeg can compress a live HD signal and a recorded signal than surely this eyetv's new built in server can as well. Come on elgato don't make us use extra disk space and compression time to watch recordings. Funny side note I was working on this exact app but am going to trash it now that you guys are on it. Great job over all elgato! Hope to see desktop access to this new built in server as well.

Problematic All Round. This app and software has been problematic from the start. I have read these fantastic reviews and like other gullible believers was sucked into the hype. It is awesome when it works however it is so unreliable and buggy that it is not worth the hassle. Stick with something else and save yourself time!!!! 1. It does not allow alphabetical password entering after update or disconnection of eyetv has been lost 2. Eyetv software crashes continually and recording programming have been lost everytime. 3. Streaming of tv to iphone is slow even when I have WIFI at excellent 300mbs and changed settings to a smaller resolution for quicker streaming. And i have the new 3Gs 4. Attempting to fix hardware and iPhone software is so frustrating that I have resorted back to normal digital TV and considering Play TV as an alternative. At least that it is reliable and reproducible. 5. List is numerous This has really ruined my belief of having a Mac Mini as a HTPC dual digital tv tuner. The Eyetv combined with the iPhone was to link all of this together and has failed due to it being unreliable!!!! Over a period of a month I have attempted to fix these issues. I was a strong beleiver until now that this was the best bang for your buck solution for a HTPC and Apple has struggled to support any trouble shooting. Hope this encourages them to resolve the bugs. Red Eyed TV Viewer

Excellent. Well worth the money. To the reviewer who said this app was stupid: maybe you should check the configuration of your eyetv on computer before you blame the app. I have had this app since it first came out pretty much. It worked well then and it's worked well ever since. For functionality this is about as useful as it gets. The only thing that WAS lacking was the ability to start the eyetv program on your Mac if it wasn't already running and that feature was added quite a while ago now. I WOULD like to be able to flick to the left and see the next scheduled show for each channel when viewing the tv guide, but thats easily done on most homepages so it's not really an issue. It's an app you sometimes forget to use, but it's very handy to have and does exactly what they say it does. Simple as that.

Too expensive. I was expecting more. The only useful thing that this app does is allow the user to record programs when away from home - although this is made more difficult than the native EyeTV software as the user must enter each channel individually to see what's on. What this app should include; 1. An option to export existing library files, so all the compression to iTunes or Toast occurs while I am away from home. This is a simple addition and should be part of this app for this price. 2. All of the channels should be viewable at the same time with the timeline indicating what's about to start - like in the EyeTV schedule on the Mac. Scheduling is too hard when I have to go in and out of each channel and try to remember when each program finishes. This app should be free or $1 at the very most. It would be value for money if it included the above features.

Needs more work ... a LOT more work. Well ... 3.2 failed to install the first time. I had to rescure it from the trash and atemt the update TWICE more to get it to work. After that, when I accessed it from the iPhone EyeTV crashed. Once all this was working, I was disapointed with the streaming speed and the time to open the stream if it happened at all. When it did work, I was seeing a second of video for every minute of real time. After that, I was just getting no connection. I presume that undr perfect conditions this app and version 3.2 are fully functional, but it seems to me that ElGatto has failed to fully test this release. **** I've waited some time before posting these comments. I can see that the problem is that my network is fairly heavily loaded, although that can't be the complete reason. Lagging audio is still a problem, as is freezing and ultimately the video server crashing. I recommend to elgato that they need to do some more extensive stress testing and debugging. However, if you have a lightly loaded home network and a good computer, I think this app will work well for you. **** 1.2.2 Fails to run when I installed it. This is going from bad to worse. :(

Fantastic, dream come true. I can watch TV on my iPhone!! Fantastic. It works great. I am using iPhone 3GS and an old Macbook which is intel core duo not core2duo. It still works. Amazing. It suddenly stopped working but I worked out that if you turn eyeTV sharing off and on again, it turns on the EyeConnect again. What a bargain for $5.99!!

Problems with EyeConnect process on Mac prevent it from working. It seems to work alright for a while and then refuses to connect until you reboot your Mac. A bit of troubleshooting shows that the eyeconnect process is being run by the root user rather than the logged in user which is preventing it from respawning. Either way this is a common problem which has been noted on a number of forums. Elgato make good products and I have purchased multiple tuners, an eyehome, turbo264, and all 3 versions of the EyeTV software, but my advice is to stay away from this thing for the time being. Maybe the next version won't be so buggy.

Elgato need to fix their documentation. Elgato make very good software for the Mac but the iPhone app does not work properly. You can watch recorded programs but live TV simply does not stream properly. It stutters and then stops, occasionally a few seconds of a show may play then nothing. HOWEVER I eventually found a solution for this issue. By digging through their Elgato tech support site I eventually found out that by turning bluetooth off streaming of live TV works much better. If Elgato were to put this simple message in the top of the documentation for the app I would not have gone through weeks of struggling with this. (The same applies to the Netstream box that they have - they assume all networks are DHCP. I manually address all my devices and it took me ages to get the Netstream to work properly and then you have to jump through hoops to find out how to do things.)

Cheaper then a TV subscription. Quite a good app. Even if you don't use the live tv streaming, the ability to instantly schedule a recording makes this app worth while. I been able to cancel by guide service which saves about $100 a year. One thing I would really love to see is the ability to prepare a recording for viewing. Rather than dispalying a button telling me I can't view this recording because it hasn't been prepared, give me a button to prepare it. It would be the perfect app for viewing your recorded TV then. And I know there is an option to prepare recordings automagically, but if you only want one done here and there, this would be a better solution.

The future is now!. Just when you thought you'd seen everything, Elgato and Apple combine to deliver the eyeTV iPhone. Stunning!!! Perhaps the only relatively minor issue for me is the fact that while live TV streams brilliantly (once you tune the bitrate to suit your wifi capacity to avoid the odd stream pause), you have to convert recordings to a reduced res iPhone format prior to streaming - taking time and storage. I have been doing this up to now to get recordings into iTunes for synching to the iPhone and hoped to overcome this step. I wonder why the same codec that allows live TV to stream directly to the iPhone can't be used to get pre-recorded TV to stream without the need to down convert to iPhone format? I look forward to the gurus at Elgato eliminating this apparently redundant step in subsequent updates. A+++ for a simply brilliant app!!!

Excellent, but.... This application works great! I am using it with a 3GS and 2.16GHz iMac and it works flawlessly. I loved how simple it was to setup the remote interface (i.e. so you can look at liveTV/schedules etc. when your on the road). The only word of warning about using the LiveTV when your not on your local WiFi network is make sure your home internet connection has a decent upload speed, if your upload connection is slow then you can expect fairly poor results (as I did - not EyeTV's fault, just my slow net connection). Having said that, Live TV streaming over local WiFi network looks great. Now, a few feature requests for the developers. Firstly, improve the "Guide" interface - it would be excellent to have a top level search facility, or even a Menu Bar item to bring up a "Select Day/Date" facility. And secondly, the ability to manually create/enter a record schedule from the top level "Schedule" view. With these two additions I'd happily make it a 5 star review, but at a Ver 1.0, it is EXCELLENT start! Keep up the awesome work - looking forward to the updates!

Doesn’t work with eyeTV4. It was a great app with eyeTV 3, worked flawlessly. While EyeTV 4, 64 bit, works fine on the IMac with Big Sur, it doesn’t appear to work at all with this app, very disappointing, hopefully this app will get an update and a fix soon....

A much used app.. Have used Eye TV app for past 3 years and have found it excellent for both iPhone and iPad. Why access to My Netstream was removed in the recent versions is inconvenient. Also the range of my wireless network seems limited compared to earlier versions. Had to extend my network with an Airport Express to stop instability. I do not understand why so many negative reviews this is one off the most used apps in our house and is an excellent product.

Eye TV streaming really good. This little app is a boon. I am now able to watch TV on my iPad anywhere in the house. There is only one problem, if you want to stream the EyeTV recordings, they need to be compressed using the iPhone compression. All iPad compression does is to put the video for viewing in the iTunes library. Also, preferences for exporting need to be set for the toolbar icons on the computer, but all this is actually withing the native Mac application.

Potential. This app has potential but, for me, it's not practical in its present form. It allows you to watch TV on your iPhone/iPad but it switches the TV on on your computer. What's the point of that? I tried to watch TV in bed and wound up waking the whole house up when the TV on my iMac suddenly screamed into life in the lounge room. Until this is fixed, this app is not useful to me but it certainly has potential.

Does what it says. Very happy with app. The streaming on my local network is flawless. Setting up for external use isn't so easy, but this is more to do with mac osx and modem integration than anything else. Once up, it works well. This app would be complete with remote control capabilities. There's nothing out there that has decent UI. My IR remote won't work when the tuner is behind the iMac.

Great App - Update for iPhone 5!. I own an EyeTV Diversity and a NetStream, giving me 4 channels to watch across the house and office. Recently got an iPhone 5, and find it very disappointing that you updated the NetStream app but not this EyeTV app to support the 16:9 iPhone wide screen, please do so ASAP, if not yesterday! PS. People having streaming problems, it's definitely a router thing; get a good one 300mbps and then make sure UPnP, Port Forwarding, Address Reservation and QoS are all streamlined for your EyeTV services.... Very Important Stuff!

Good but..... Good program, I love how it makes the eyetv so much more access able but there is a bug where it seems every second or third video I watch, the video gets stuck and the audio continues at random places. This problem is very annoying and when it happens nothing on the phone side can fix it not even ending the process in the multitask screen, when I try and watch the video again it will freeze in the same place. Then I have to watch it on the Mac. If the could get rid of this bug this software would be fantastic.

eyetv ipad and wireless. Eyetv on my ipad worked immediately with my eyetv on my desktop. The wireless allowed the connection BUT the first and second ipad/iphone exports did not work at all properly after 2 seconds. no sync on sound and no picture after 45 seconds. The live tv was better but stalled every 5 seconds over wireless. I will continue to experiment but frustrated already. I have wireless N and I ran the iPad settings test and accepted its recommendations but not happy yet.

Getting better so slowly. The latest version has brought some much needed improvement to the guide "visuals" and iPhone 5 fixes but not much new functionality. Can you please enable the app with more direct control of the eyetv mac application. For example, the app should be able to delete and modify schedules but you are limited to just viewing them as a form of upcoming recordings. Also, the ability to prepare recordings from the app is useful but please enable the ability to delete recordings from the app. It seems ridiculous that users have to access their computers directly to do this. Please Elgato just a couple more improvements to round out key program functionalities!

No EyeTV In Australia. I'm happy I purchased the EyeTV and this App while it was available in Australia. Being able to record TV shows / movies and playback anytime and anywhere plugged into a TV or not with the ability to skip advertising is great. This App is amazing. Elgato's hardware and software provide you with freedom and independence that can't be obtained from telecommunications' set top boxes.

Frustrating. This app drives me mad. It could be so good but it is not. Help is non-existant. Why can it stream an off air mpeg stream, but not stream the same mpeg from the disk? Go figure. Apparently it has to be prepared for the iPhone, whatever that means. All my efforts at preparation are unsuccessful. Even if the file does need to be prepared, why can this not be initiated from the ios app? Like EyeTV on the Mac, this app just has not been thought through. Could do much better. Added thoughts: The app allows recording to be scheduled from the guide, but does not allow those schedules to be altered and unless the EyeTV app on the Mac is set to 'prepare all recordings for iPhone', this app cannot watch the recording when it is finished! This app allows you to delete schedules but not recordings. This last is super frustrating. When you have watched a recording, you usually want to delete it, but you have to go to the Mac to do that. WHY?????

EyeTV is great !!!. I’ve had this app for around 14 years. I think it’s great. I’ve had a few issues with it over the years but these were all sorted eventually, and features and stability and various options have all have steadily improved with occasional updates. I’ve hardly used our flash TV since EyeTV came along. So much more convenient to watch TV on the computer (or occasionally the phone). My only gripe is the now long-term difficulty in purchasing another Elgato tuner. I have wanted to purchase a “diversity?” tuner for a few years now. They used to be “off the shelf” at Harvey Norman, but are apparently now only available on-line from Germany. Every now and then I get around to trying to order one, but they seem to be perpetually unavailable.

Works Well for Me. I have a Mac Mini 2.0Ghz 1G Ram running 10.5 conncetd to Airport Exterme via WiFi ( brick house and the Airport is 2 rooms away so speed to Mini is not the best ) With my setup the streaming was surpiring good except for Channel 7 which I have issue with anyway The stream is only about 3 or 4 seconds delayed ( I have Turbo 264 but not the new HD one ) Would give 5 stars but there's no remote controls for volume, change channel, rewind/fast forward etc & I haven't tested off my network Well worth $5.99

If only you could give negative stars. Well done Elgato.. Which bright spark thought it would be a good idea to stop supporting the Netstream DTT. This app use to leave the free Netstream app in the dust, but with the removal of support of the Nestream this app is now useless to me and many other users. I WANT MY MONEY BACK! I have no idea how Apple approved a change to remove the functionality to stream from the Nestream DTT but shame on them, they are just as bright as you guys for approving the change. Anybody that has the Netstream DTT don't waste your money on this app or Elgato products as they have no interest in supporting their products and there are so many better products out there.

My previous review disappeared.... Previous iOS 11 not useable, now in iOS 12, it’s all ago go. Pleased as I’ve used this app for a decade

Fantastic!. I love this app - EyeTV has been installed on my Mac for many years and has also been installed on my iPad for a long time. It is fantastic for watching the TV shows that I've recorded and prepared for the iPad, as it allows me to watch the program of my choice, regardless of what everyone else is watching. Then there is the obvious portability of having the programs on the iPad. When I first downloaded the EyeTV way, way back I did have an issue with the streaming of live TV. This has not been a problem for some time, although I'm not sure if the fix came through an EyeTV upgrade or from our upgrade from ADSL to Cable Broadband. It is an easy and fun to use app, that I'd be lost without.

Elgato - what a slick app!. I guess you'd expect nothing less from these guys. This app is seriously good. If you have EyeTV on your Mac and you can connect without any issues with Back to My Mac get this app. Beautifully presented, does everything it says and feels as stable as a rock - once the video starts streaming it feels like your watching the video right on your Mac - very cool :-). Great interface, easy to use. WORTH EVERY CENT. Before you download just make sure that you can connect your Mac to Back to My Mac first (after upgrading my router's firmware (an iiNet Belkin router from 2005, connected my Mac direct to the Mac - iiNet wouldnt play with my Airport... I was off!) Very nice. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

It. But why should we have to pay extra for this? I think it's wrong, we already pay $$$ for the device's so this should be free. I really was not that jumped for joy for it cause you can't control it totally, why? The IR remote included with our Eye Tv product has poor coverage for desktop Macs, the only way it will work is if the USB device is facing forwards thats annoying if you ask me. Why can't we control Eye Tv like it's IR remote can (Take a look at "Rowmote" app cause it's a better buy then this)? A Wi-Fi based controller has a much better pick up then that IR one does and the iPhone/Touch Eye Tv control could have custom one touch buttons for switching between connections and so on. Sadly no one thought about this instead took the easy way out by not including this into the app. I want this so go back to the designer board and make this app far better then it is. Again the app should be just like the IR remote but better! The app does what it says but to be honest without full control this is not worth it's money in fact never should of bought it.

Don’t waste your time.. I upgraded to EyeTV v4 to support OSX Catalina....whilst the application works on OSX, the app is a complete waste of time. Time to look at alternatives.

Broken on Eye TV4. This app does not work one either my phone or iPad. It never starts either video or audio now. Previous version started audio but no video so backwards. Was always perfect on Eye TV 3

Potential that is never delivered. Unfortunately this app doesn't work as described! The program crashes regularly - shutting sown the app without reason! Streaming is problematic it starts and stops even though I have a current model hardware the product does not work as promised - it's acting like a beta version and should be free until all the bugs have been fixed! So if you are interested in being a beta tester and paying for that privilege then this is the app for you!

Does exactly what is claimed - iPad version. An excellent implementation that does exactly what it claims to do. It installed as it should have done and connected to my Intel Core Duo desktop Mac after I set the firewall exactly as explained by the App. I was pleasantly surprised that it would startup EyeTV on the desktop when it was not running. Image and sound clarity are fine across my wireless network hosted by my Time Capsule.

Airplay fails after 5 minutes. When I enable Airplay and stream video from the EyeTV app to my TV (through an Apple TV), it only works while the iPhone/iPad screen is on. As soon as the screen switches off (eg auto lock kicks in), the app stops streaming and the video stops. This is very annoying and makes the app next to useless for AirPlay. All my other video apps, such as Air Video, continue to work fine when the iPhone/iPad screen sleeps, continuing to stream video to Apple TV without a problem. Please fix this, Elgato.

This has been buggy since mountain lion. Streaming is really inconsistent lots of freezing. I have to restart the app about 4 times in a half hour show. It just locks up, but I am getting more than 20mb/s. Im running the latest mini and an AirPort Extreme within meters if my gen 3 iPad. It was great before the OS update and I am dying to see an update to eyeTV, on the eye tv site they suggest not updating the mac os if you need streaming... but there has been ages to fix this now. Could be awesome, but the update cycle is seriously lacking. bit of a clunky UI but I can live with that.

Works as advertised. Does everything it says it can do. It really is pretty amazing. The only problem I found was related to signal quality. Channels with a weak signal tended to stutter on my iPad 1 when watching live tv. After if fixed my antenna and improved the quality it worked well. It also works amazingly well with the new apple tv with AirPlay. The tv in my bedroom as really poor reception so I was streaming live tv to my iPhone and then using AirPlay to stream to the tv. The record feature works well, the only thing it's missing is the ability to series record from the app.

Broken airplay?. Unfortunately automatically upgraded, which I was trying to avoid with debacle of EyeTV v4.0 on Mac. What a mess! Lost ability to access remotely (off network): used this feature all the time to schedule recordings (luckily the country is in lockdown for now, so maybe it will be fixed soon). Viewing live TV continues with sound even if I kill live TV and switch to viewing recordings: have to quit the app and start again. No memory of where I was viewing in recordings (this bug existed before) so need to start again. Change of orientation on iPad mid-display of live TV or recording is hit and miss, with some elements moving, some not, and screen doesn’t always match window. No idea why view window needs to float above list of recordings or guide (new feature that does nothing). Overall, I would recommend earlier version.

Excellent application. Eye TV already provides the family with television in the lounge (where the iMac is located) .... now it gives me access anywhere within WiFi range of home. Thanks Elgato. First non-free App I've installed. Cheers. BTW: I've had the Eye TV USB thingy for nearly 2 years. Always works as expected. Good value Eye TV owners.

Molly. I have had the elgato tv diversity since Christmas and have nothing but praise for it I have an iPad and can record watch look up guide everything . I think it is wonderful and have nothing but ,thanks for elgato this is 2christmases later since I wrote above review. And my opinion has not changed love it love it love it well done elgato

It's good, but over priced. Don't know what the last 2 reviewers are on about. I've been able to remotely start recording and I am able to see the free TV guide for what's on now. As for watching HD programs, well HD is 1920 x 1080, it's gonna take longer for it to download. Try setting up a favourite channel list on your Mac with the standard def channels in it. Watch those on the iPhone, you won't notice any difference in the picture quality. Afterall the iPhone resolution is 480x320. You may also need to adjust the download rate in the programs settings. I think the program should be free or $1 at the most.

Great app.. Works perfectly. Love how I can take my 'tv' with me from room to room on my iPad. If wanting suggestions for improvement: The only nuisance is that my desktop computer needs to be turned on just to stream the live tv - seems a waste of power, but that is how it is designed to work. Would be better if you could view a different channel on the ipad to the computer. I was watching a show and someone else decided to watch another channel on the computer and thus changed my channel in doing so. Having said that, I still love it!!!

Works great!. I have it going on a 2.0 GHz Core Duo MacBook and it works fine once the bitrate has been turned down. It would be fabulous if you could manually add schedules. To be able to view composite or s-video I had to change country to US and setup a "fake" digital set top box. If there were a web companion to work with the live tv function of the iPhone (aka wireless sharing but with live tv) it would be perfect.

eleganto!. works OK for me except I can't seem to get it to work when I am recording on the other unit. I took awhile to work out what I was looking at - at first, I got all excited thinking it was a separate TV until I realised changing channels on one changed to the same channel on the other but after a short delay - dang it. other than that, well done creative folk

GREAT APP. Just bought a USB Elgato hybrid tv card, installed eyetv and worked perfectly straight away. Note: wireless connection and tv reception in this area is great :) very happy, well worth the $. PLEASE add the option to swipe/ delete recordings from the application. Once I have watched a recorded show I would like to delete it. :)

Good for live TV but recording programs could be improved. Watching live TV (including Aus HD) works great when streaming from EyeTV3 over wifi. The recording interface seems to only work with the TV guide though. If it's unavailable (which it is for me sometimes), you can't schedule a recording. There really needs to be a way of recording by time, date, and Channel as well. Being able to easily record the current program would also be good. Also we need to be able to delete recordings. Finally, if you use this with airplay on a TV it will be pixellated - an option to select quality based upon network ability would be nice.

Not bad, could be better. Doesn't work if your Mac is asleep. Kind of defeats the purpose of using a portable device if you have to go and wake your Mac up first... Watching live tv is fine, but you can't watch recorded programs unless they are converted into iPad/iPhone format first, which takes a considerable amount of time. Even if some programs are converted, there is no way to tell which ones are watchable without checking each individual recording because all recordings are listed in the menu. Would be better to indicate iPad formatted recordings in the list. Would be good if there was a next channel/previous channel option on the live tv screen, rather than making the user go out to the main to select a different channel. It's possible to delete schedules, but not recordings. When schedules are deleted they still show in the list of schedules. Almost all of my recordings are made using the SmartGuide, yet this isn't accessible on the iPad. Would be useful to create, delete, or edit SmartGuides here. With a few relatively simple improvements this could be a 5 star app. For now, it seems like a good idea but there are too many annoying usability issues for it to be of much use. Certainly not worth $5.49.

Great Product. I don't often bother writing App reviews, but this one is perfect. So far I've had no stability problems at all. I click the buttons and it does what it says it will do. Setup was simple (enabled in the EyeTV software) and away it goes for a seamless 'just works' product. Quality is fantastic and we frequently use it on both iPad and iPhone 4, sometimes more than one at a time and never have a problem. We have a new MacMini running EyeTV Diversity, and have no problems both watching different shows live on our mobile devices and pre-recorded shows and live tv at the same time. No complaints from me. It's simple, interface is great, and it works.

a bit disappointing. **Downgraded to 2 stars after confirming what another reviewer has stated - no guide without paying for an ICE TV subscription - the free guide works fine on my mac - should at least be able to show the free EPG 'playing now' like Equinux's LiveTV** I have both EyeTV and The Tube able to run on the same USB tuner on the same mac hardware so have been able to directly compare the performance of TV streaming of this app against Equinux's free Live TV app. Under these same conditions the EyeTV app has problems with stuttering and sync, significantly worse on HD signals - The Live TV app connected to The Tube performs faultlessly - no stutter etc even with a HD signal. EyeTV is far superior on the mac itself than The Tube - however, having paid for this app on my iPhone I expected better performance on release and am hoping that there will be quick improvements on the way so that it at least equals the performance of Equinux's free Live TV app. Until it does, then all I can give it is three stars.

Works as advertised. Awesome live TV on the go.. This is exactly what I have been waiting for. It's simple to setup and get going. I was watching tv on my iPhone within 2 minutes. Video quality is excellent. I even setup my home router so I could watch TV when I was away from home and it streamed really well. No 3G, but that's a good thing ( no excess data usage) however with a large quota it'd be nice to get a low quality version for 3g. 5 stars. Worth every cent.

This app is still useless. Useless, this app still is not working. When you connect the Eye tv mobile device to your iPad or iPhone it will ask you to create an account which does not make any sense. This app used to work once you would connect the device to your iPhone or IPad. You developers of this application are disappointing and just wasting everybody’s time. Why the Eye tv mobile application is not working like before??

Can't remotely start schedules. This is a great app but there are a few of things I would love it to be able to do. Firstly, be able to schedule recording remotely like what can be done with Foxtel's (Australian PayTV company) app for other phones. Secondly be able to channel channels without having to go back the the channel menu. Thirdly be able to operate your EyeTV without the program having to be running on your Mac. If you forget to open EyeTV on your Mac you can do nothing with this app so it would be great if it worked without the program open. If Elgato can add these 3 things into this app then it will be the best app I have on my iPhone.

WOW. Just purchased the eye and the application. Both works perfect. Just trying to figure out why picture pauses. Probably has something to do with cashing ahead? Let me know how to set up so it would go more smoothly. It pauses every cca 5 min for a sec. Then it starts channel again. Thank you. Although ... It blows my mind. The regular remote for my MacBook pro can control the whole thing. And the iPhone app works perfect as well. Good job.

Eyetv back on its feet, new owners. Give these new people from Geniatech that have recently taken over Elgato ,a little time to improve things. They are doing the right things to improve how this main app and Eyetv Desktop app work together. I am impressed to see latest updates, and am sure that this app , like before will work as well or better than before . Only slight thing that remains to be improved for me is a better server connection, slight moment of spinning wheel in app when connecting to Eyetv account but nothing worrisome.

Doesn’t seem to like iOS 8. Since upgrading my iPad to iOS 8, like every loyal iPad/iPhone user did last week, the iPad version won't connect to my eyeTV machine. This is the only change made to my systems. So it looks like this version is incompatible with iOS 8. Please fix. If you’re just buying this now, wait until an update specifically supporting 8 is released.

Great idea.... But not done yet. Live tv streaming is not reliable. Audio often falls out of sync. Tested with a very recent mac and stable atsc signals. Host eyetv app on the desktop needs frequent restarting in order to get the stream going again - even if the desktop is still playing back fine. I'd wait till the bugs are squished.

Eyetv app is excellent. I have the eyetv tuner (the hybrid, the 250 plus and the HD tuner all from elgato) and I use all three on my mac with the software. I have set the favorite stations to access the channels quicker on my iphone using the app. The app runs slower on the 3G network but runs excellent on wifi with little streaming problems on the HD channels. I watched the hockey game on the iphone at a wedding the other night while I was chatting with the guys and they were amazed at the picture quality. I really like this app. It is finicky though and novice users will not rate it as 5 stars. I got all three tuners working with the software on my mac and the company does not support this. There are some minor issues with setting recordings but I am working through them. This app is great once you know how to set the streaming. This can take some time and a learning curve that some will find highly annoying. I like my tech and am used to trouble shooting. Once it runs though, its really nice and its a great conversation piece. Imagine 6 guys in suits watching a hockey game on the iphone at a wedding during the down time before dinner. Glad none of the women wanted to know what we were doing.

Love it. I have a mac eyetv and this works perfect, zero issues.

It works for me. The only technical problem I've ever had was solved by restarting my iPad (restarting the app didn't do it). The only significant limitation lies with the awful controls the cable companies give us over our TVs. If you have to change channels using your cable box, the functionality of EyeTV is severely limited. That's not the app's fault. If your EyeTV device _is_ receiving the right channel though, all of a sudden you're carrying TV with you pretty much wherever you go. I like to watch the news and such on the patio or balcony and all I have to do is bring my iPad. If you're receiving HD, that shows up _beautifully_ on the iPad. If you use EyeTV a lot, the Turbo 264 hardware is a really worthwhile addition.

Fix it!. The EyeTV App won't let me what Live TV orRecorded shows on my Newest iPad (iPad 3) fix this cause I don't need an app that wastes space and money.

Works ok but can't delete recording when finished. Some features missing...

Recommended for those who record teevee using EyeTV on their Mac.. Works great.

EYE T-V. Excellente application.

Great app, but.... Great app. Works almost flawlessly for me on shaw cable... My one gripe. When using airplay my ipad goes to sleep and shuts off airplay, making it a frustration to use.

Dead in the water. This app used to work beautifully - now it crashes on launch. Restarting iPad doesn't help. Nothing on Elgatos site - very disappointing for a $5 app.

One of my favorite app. Work great a must have

Impressive. I've had this for 24 hours and so far, I have found eye tv and the companion iPhone app very effective and working as advertised. I haven't been able to get the remote access going (but I've not yet gotten back to my mac going yet either!) Based on the ease of installation, the intuitive interface and the ability to figure out functions quite quickly - this is first rate software.

EyeTV. I have looked at the reviews. I suggest that the posted instructions/descriptions be read thoroughly. You have to have the elgato eyetv system and its software installed on your iMac. There is no challenge to putting on the software that comes with the tuner. Next, download the eyetv app onto your iPad from the Apple store. Just follow the prompt for iphone (it covers iPad too). The ipad takes its TV input from your iMac via the n level (not g level) Apple router. The router allows you to go anywhere in the house with the iPad and your selected TV station. What fun! Any problems will be at the firewall. Of course, make sure eyetv is running on your iMac, first. Your eyetv app will sense your iMac's connection (assuming Wifi is on with your iPad) and show you what to do if it can't connect to your iMac. This is where you read and follow the steps carefully. The firewall on your iMac can be turned off if you are having trouble hooking up, but I suspect you haven't turned off Stealth Mode on your firewall. Stealth mode won't let the connection through even though you have followed the instructions to allow your connection to go through otherwise. As for seeing stored programs on your iMac, you have to highlight the selection on your iMac and then press either the iPod or iPad icon at the top of the eyeTV menu to have it converted to an Apple video. Then it is exported for storage to your iPad for you to see at your pleasure. Five star for this app, users! Again, note system and hardware requirements and then follow instructions -no shortcutting, speed reading, assuming and hence complaints. It works just fine.

Garbage. I hate this app more than I hate peas. I bought this right when it came out and it didn't work well from day one. It doesn't seem to matter how many updates they post it still doesn't work. Watching live TV stutters, pauses then crashes. Watching recordings are just as bad. I once took two hours to watch a one hour show because I had to restart the app every three minutes. This app makes me feel as though I need anger management because I've almost launched my iPhone into a wall many times due to the frustration trying to get it to work. I WANT MY MONEY BACK!!!

Needs a remote to change channels. I switched from the slingbox to this. The one thing I miss (even though sling crapped the bed on the last update that ended up ruining my sling) is the remote. We can't rely on what TV guide gives us for info to properly change the channels. Especially when the program guide differs from my cable providers guide... Give us a remote!! As mentioned in other reviews, let me erase shows in this app. Also there's no component selection in 'av input' Apart from that I have no opinion :)

awesome. after trying every program under the sun to stream tv this one works the best. quality is awesome over wifi and even better on your local LAN. 3G isn't all that good but I don't expect much from that. worth all the money it cost for hardware and software. Now that AirPlay works it is even better than before. Now I can watch live tv on my apple tv streaming from another computer in another city.

Good appli. Good

Good but missing a couple key features. I like this app. The guide makes this such a better product than the Slingbox. One gripe I have is that you can't remotely tell your satellite receiver to turn on? So if you leave the house and forget to leave your satellite box on, you are done. Tech support claims the software will tell the receiver to turn on for recorded events but you can't remotely turn on the receiver like you can with Slingbox.

Solid App. This app has the potential to be extraordinary, but, for now, it is simply good. I would love for the UI to be tweaked to make it possible to be browsing the program guide while you're watching a particular program. As it is now, you must exit the video stream before being able to browse the guide. My only gripe is that you must set up iPad/iPhone access on your recorded content before being able to watch recorded shows on your iDevice. This is easy to do, but the majority of my shows were not set up for this during the initial recording.

Great features but needs a remote. I was shocked to find that I could not use the app as a remote. Seems like am obvious feature and I was really disappointed to not find it there. I do hope it is added soon.

??. je suis desole je pensais pouvoir ecoute la television avec ce logiciel et ca ne fonctionne pas tres dessus pouvez vous me dire ci il exite un logicile pour visionne la television merci !!!!!

Good start. Application is a good start, but requires improvement through free updates. Video & audio often out of synch. Interface is limited in functionality as well.

Not impressed. The new update works fine except most import part the TV guide. Cannot check programs and set recordings. Update has turned ipad into worst tv in house,

One of my favourite apps. This app works great and I love it! I will give it 5 stars when I can change to a different channel from within the channel I'm watching rather then have to go to the program guide first.

With just a few enhancements…. If VLC and Plex can stream EyeTV files on the Mac directly to iOS then why is Elgato still tediously converting recordings first? It takes forever before you can start watching, even with a fast Mac as it doesn't use all available CPU, so I just use Plex. But, EyeTV can stream live TV yet mysteriously not recorded shows until they've been converted. This makes no sense. The app says EyeTV is not running on the Mac. Really? Then how am I able to actually watch the recordings and live TV? I really miss the skip forward/back buttons in iOS that are on the Mac. For some reason they are missing on the app. The only option is to use single-speed fast forward or rewind. Very clumsy and inconsistent. It doesn't resume where you left off playing. Read that sentence again. Hard to believe, right? There is no way to delete recordings from the library. Another odd omission. You cannot create a manual schedule. You must pay for the TV Guide subscription that is full of errors just to schedule a recording, but it can't be edited to adjust the times. When I set up/delete a manual schedule on the Mac, it does not appear/disappear in the Schedules window on the iOS device unless I switch away to one of the other tabs and return. That's real old-fashioned programming and shouldn't be happening in a modern app. A change on the server should immediately be reflected on the client. Once a manual schedule is set up on the Mac, it cannot be edited in iOS, it can only be deleted. BUT, if you delete it it doesn't disappear from the window. The Delete button changes to a Record button, which when tapped, does nothing. If you then navigate away from the Schedules tab and return, I found 4 schedules with no title. Checking the Mac, they appear there as 0 seconds long, to be recorded 2000-12-31 19:00. So yeah, kinda buggy and feature poor. Similarly for playlists, you can't create/delete them in iOS, they don't appear/disappear until you navigate away from the Recordings tab and return, you can't see the criteria for Smart Playlists in iOS so you better give them a good name. Basically, Elgato needs to take a page from the MythTV and Plex playbooks and create separate client and server components. The client on the Mac and iOS should then have identical features. As it stands now, the iOS client is a stripped down version of the native Mac app. Other than a new paint job, the same limitations remain as the previous version.

ipad app. got this app for my ipad ...have had nothing but issues with it since start....wont connect, keeps giving me error meassage about can not connect to eyetv when i just had it connected plz fix this great idead for a app soon

not worth it. You must have the full program on your Mac first, plus a tv tuner. The app does nothing with out the min cost of $100.00 for the program and a TV tuner

Waste of time. Does not support Windows/Microsoft products to run the EyeTV3 software needed to even use this app. This app is useless to me.

New paint job...no great features yet. Elgato. You should make a key pad to change channel instead of scrolling thru all. Its only a new paint job. Sure you added a search channels box, but that is not a key pad to change channels. Lame

Download the new upgrade. Hey people, Elgato has released a new upgrade (beta) that makes EveTV work if you've been having problems. It's such a great program and I'm delighted to have a TV in my pocket now. (G) It's the greatest picture and the sound is okay as well on the iPhone even without a headset. I'd recommend using one for your favourite TV programs though. Thanks Elgato for making this app at such a reasonable cost!!! Simply fantastic! Sylvie Hanna

App cannot discover running companion App on OSX. Purchased this app that suppose to interact with companion eyeTV app on MacBookPro I previously purchased. Whatever I tried with this IOS app on my iPad and iPhone it could not find running eyeTV app on my Mac, making this app on phone/pad useless. Opened a ticket with seller company with no reply to this point.

Works like ... Windows Vista!. Requirementa lacking details; crashes when resizing the screen; takes too long to load and stops too frequently... A "not-ready-for-the-marke yett" kind of software... Vista-like behaviour...

Amazing TV on-the-go. This app works well over wifi or 3G. You do need to own an eyetv tuner on your mac to make this work. Reading most comments I can see the most people don't understand this point. Great for watching tv on the run or recording shows remotely.

Can not connect. I can not connect to eyetv? Is there some update?

Works great. The app works great when on a LAN out of the box and on 3G once setup correctly. What was a little trying was that I had to open the correct port on my firewall and port forward that same port from my router. After that, adding a new connection with the correct My EyeTV account/password worked great. I would have given the review 5 stars but since the help was not crystal clear on how to fix this, I rated it down one star.

Is basically a basic remote that won't stream from slightly older Macs. My desktop setup is an HDHomerun plus EyeTV 3, which works fine on my iMac... I was under the impression that this app did some of the heavy lifting for accepting the HDHomerun feed (like EyeTV) but it instead uses the computer to do all the transcoding and stream the feed, which doesn't work at all from my old(ish) 2.4mhz intel iMac. Then I bought a Turbo264 to hopefully speed it up, and it still doesn't work. To top it off, the app doesn't directly read .eyetv recordings, but rather needs to convert the entire recording (which takes forever and uses your iMac to do it) before playing, which is useless for me. So what I have here is a $5 channel guide. Nice. I guess I'll need to invest in a Mac Mini or a new home computer to get this to work. Sigh.

Bonne application. Application très pratique et simple à utiliser. Par contre j'aurais apprécier la possibilité de naviguer dans les menus tout en regardant une chaine.

Great!. This works great! I can stream Live TV from my iMac (it works ok without the TurboHD stick, but a bit of wait for buffering). You may need to turn off the Firewall (even if you accept incoming connections for EyeConnect) to get it to work from outside your home network. Thankfully, I can now record things when I'm out and forget to set eyeTV before I leave.

Incompatible with EyeTV for Mac 3.6.9 (7513). Lagging view of recording.

Good App that could be Great. Like the remote scheduling but without the ability to export to iPad/iPhone or AppleTV from the App makes it impossible to remotely export. I don't want every show to export so don't want to have to turn this on in the software.

Really impressed - a portable TV for $5!. Note: I'm using this with the Elgato EyeTV 250 hooked up to my *Mac* (sorry Windows users... you should learn!). This little app is really amazing! I can now watch TV anywhere in my house, pause, rewind, etc. I can also see any recordings that I've made earlier, and schedule new ones. Set up was completely painless - it just saw my MBP and I could see the TV :) Easily the best $5 I've spent in the app store - I got a portable TV out of it!

Eye tv. Needs more canadian tv build settings

Help. Doesn't work if IP address is changed by provider drives me crazy!!!

Nickel and dimers. Once upon a time this app was great as was their eyetv os software ($80). Then Elgato decided that there is still more money to be made from their paying customers. First they started charging for the program guide data that was once free. Now that costs $19 a year. And now they removed the ability to stream remotely free. To do that now it'll cost you $50. Removing and then charging for features is the ultimate dik move by software developers. Do yourself a favor and get an eyetv alternative.

Not compatible with picture in picture on IOS 9. Not compatible with picture in picture on IOS 9

Excellent app lacks Canadian integration. with respect to design, intuitive features and screens. Easy installation and generally strong ranking for stability. The primary exception is the lack of integration within the Canadian marketplace. There is highly regarded Canadian Content rules as well as distribution methods and market oversight (the CRTC) who for years allowed the locust of control for delivery to reside with cable providers. As a result each provider has its' own proprietary systems and having now moved to HD in Canada there few options to descrambler signals in the cable or satellite delivery realm. Basic cable being the only option when QAM/Air signals a not possible or weak and inconsistent. Not impressed with the limited functionality and range in this market.

Updated review - got it working. I finally figured out how to create an exception in my firewall settings to allow the connection and stream. Unfortunately, there are constant freeze frames and/or audio syc issues. I upped the stars to 4 since it actually works, just not as well as Slingbox. If you're serious about streaming TV to your iPod or iPhone, buy a Slingbox and pay for the app. Beautiful, seamless, automatically downgrades or upgrades the pic quality based on bandwidth.

The newest version works horribly on the iPhone 4. I loved this app just a few versions ago. I was able to watch the World Cup without a hitch and it all worked great not too long ago. I was excited when I got my new iPhone 4 for the greater processing power over my 3GS, but this app fails to take advantage of it. Streaming is slower and the video keeps stuttering over 3G when it worked great before. For some reason, too, the video on my iPhone 4 keeps trying to force widescreen video even though the source is NOT widescreen. Whatever the glitch is, I hope they fix it SOON, not later. Once they get this working again, I'll be avidly recommending it again.

Terrific for remote recordings or “i wonder what’s on now". My wife and I don’t watch much TV. I really only watch it when it is intentional.. that is, I don’t channel flip. I watch TV for a specific program. As such, this has been a great app to answer the question “I wonder if it’s worth my time to turn on the TV?”. Because it gets the listings over the air, whenever my wife and I are thinking about it, we can just pull this app up and look to see what is on, or set a recording schedule for something we want to see in the future. It’s really really nice for that. I haven’t used it to watch TV much, though it seemed fine with that too.

5 stars when they add a remote control and fix the bugs!. A great first effort, but where's the remote? The Elgato/EyeTV provided remote is pretty poor, and iPhone app remote functionality would fix that in a heartbeat. I have also had numerous app crashes ( mostly iPhone reboots) and live TV loading stalls. Seems like it might be related the rotation sensor??? I have found that rebooting the host Mac fixes those (I use LogMeIn when away to reboot...). Restarting EyeTV on the host Mac does not solve the crashes or stalls for some reason. Obviously something gets whacked on the Mac server when you suffer an iPhone crash. Needs a little debugging, but overall EyeTV is great, and this app is on it's way to being great...

Marked Improvement with recent software upgrades!. My experience with the recent Mac and iOS updates: markedly improved video streaming and audio that is always in sync. Although I had uninstalled the previous version due to steaming interruptions despite confirmed 50 megabits/second download speeds and rock solid wi-Fi, I am glad I invested the time and took the risk to try these upgrades. Very happy, so far.

so far, I am impressed. After reading the reviews of this app, I wasn't sure how well it would work. I have to say I am very pleased with it. I just started using EyeTV on my iMac this week. Last night, I sat out on my patio and watched live tennis on my iPad Air with almost perfect quality. No stuttering or buffering. Set up the app for remote access from work over wifi and was delighted with the performance. Not always a perfect picture, but overall very good quality. I have a late-2013 iMac with 24gb RAM and an Apple Airport base station. I recommend this app if you have decent hardware to support the video stream.

Great app but still needs work. As soon as I downloaded this app and launched the program, it worked and still works with no problem. The only improvements I would like to see is for it to play movies w/out running EyeTV on my Mac, use it as a remote while running EyeTV on my Mac, be able to view recorded videos anytime and anywhere in the app itself, and have it play ALL recorded videos w/out the app crashing, which happens to me sometimes. Patiently awaiting for the next version to come out.

Doesn't connect. I love the EyeTV desktop application and USB, but the iPhone and iPad apps are useless. The EyeTV app connects only 1 in 20 times I try, and none of the settings change between attempts. It doesn't matter if I'm on wifi or 3G, whether I'm sitting in the room with my desktop or across the country. On the incredibly rare occasion that it does connect, it takes nearly 4 minutes to start playing. Once it does play, the picture and audio are not in sync, and it stops every few seconds for a long time. I've had the app for 3 months and have watched maybe a minute of recorded video. Live TV hasn't worked yet. What a waste of money. I'd be less angry if the app were free, but it would still be annoying. Bottom line - EyeTV's great at home, and useless on the road.

Wow! I love it!. Read the reviews and didn't want to get it because the lagging, skipping others are reporting, but took a chance and, wow! Just Great! The problem others are having might have to do with a slower machine or not enough memory. I have an Imac 21.5 inch, late 2011, 2.5 ghz , upgraded it from 4 ghz to 12 ghz Ram. This app works just fine, almost perfect video play. Very enjoyable! I'm so glad I got it, it is the perfect companion to my eye tv hybrid!

Great once you learn the secret!. I had the same stutter problem so many people report until I closed the live window on my Mac when I was watching on my iPhone or iPad. With only the app running on the Mac without the live stream window open, I can change channels without fear of the two second stutter. I love being able to watch recorded material or live tv from my iPhone anywhere in the house. Nice product. Once I figured out how to kill the stutter on live playback.

Great start!!!. Update for those having trouble: restart your Mac and your iPhone before attempting use. This solved my "uncompatible router" problem. I have been using eyetv as my home TV for over two years and have been very happy with their upgrades. Now, with the addition of the iPhone App, I feel their system is nearly complete. All they need to do is add a remote control interface and it will be complete. Overall, this app adds the best possible feature with it's ability to schedule recordings from anywhere. While I have not really been looking to view my eyetv programs remotely, I now can do so as long as I am around solid wifi. I just tested it's abilty to stream live from my house in Phoenix to my girlfriend's in Chandler, AZ. Only a 15-20 second delay between the eyetv video and the live version on her cable. Wow! Nice job eyetv and Apple!! This is a fairly buggy app, but not bad for a 1.0.0 version. Keep up the good work and I'll change my rating to 5.

This is an awesome app!. The app works very well, it works over 3G and WiFi. You have to have a strong 3G signal on order to watch good quality video. I believe the app should be free because we already paid and arm and a leg for the tuner. It is very easy to use. We are used to take a long time to make an app to work. (we use to use windows mobile phones) This is app is smost ready to go. We were amazed how easy it was to connect to the tuner. It just works!

A Great Example of Hi-Tech. I first set the preferences on my desktop EyeTV software, purchased and downloaded the iPhone EyeTV app to my iPod Touch, launched the app and immediately had LIVE TV. After reading some of the reviews here, I did not know what to expect, but it worked flawlessly for me ... with my firewall ON. My firewall shows three related apps: EyeConnect, EyeTV, and EyeTV Helper. My Set-up: • MacBook Pro 17" 2.8 GHz Core 2 Duo • 4 GB Memory • Apple Extreme Router (Dual Band) • iPod Touch (gen 2)

Just what I need!. I have a second home over 260 miles from where I live and have a " triple play" Internet, TV and phone account with the local cable company there. When Cablevison at my residence starting requiring a stupid cable box with every TV in the house, I moved my EyeTV hybrid to my second residence - so now I can watch the TV service that I pay for miles away, including the local news there, on my iPad where I live. (Oh, and I can also get the Buffalo Bills games that they never show here! Sweet!)

Just in time. I have had eye tv for 2 years and I love it, then, I was waiting for their app to come out, but nothing from eye tv, I was giving up, believe it or not just few days before eye tv presented the app, I was going to get sling box because they have a nice app, but for some reason I decided to wait a little bit more, and then my dream came true. 4 stars because we waited so long and because it took me like 3 hours to get it running (ha, ha,), but it worked just great with my airport express. Still needs improvements but I dont care for now, because I didnt waste my money in another tv tuner.

Elegantly Simple and Intuitive. The test of a great application is UI ease of use, flawless operation, and useful for various levels of buyer expertise. I have been an Elgato customer for 10 years and they quitely and efficiently release feature after feature that simply works. Install in 2 minutes, never read a user guide, and enjoy feature extension to EyeTV instantly. I have an EyeTV250 (SD) and HDHomeRun (HD) streams are absolutey crystal clear and stutter free. Kudos, Elgato, Apple ought to hire you to rethink the AppleTV and manage future development! It puts the complexity of WINXP stuff to shame!

Works great! No issues. I was worried after reading the negative reviews, but realized $5 is not much when compared to the cost of my mac, my iPhone, and far cheaper than buying a new TV. I decided to take the risk... and haven't encountered any problems. I bought the app. Opened it. It found my EyeTV computer right away and started streaming without issue. I'm running EyeTV on a Mac Mini (2.5 GHz Intel Core i5) that is hard wired (via Ethernet) to my router.

EyeTV has potential!!!. I have been using the application for a month now, and it works very well most of the time. However, the menus do not reflect the correct show playing on a channel most of time, and I hate the fact that I have to have EyeTV running on another computer to use the app. I shelled out the money for the NetstreamDTT, and I wish that the iPad/iPhone app could connect directly to the Netstream rather than another machine. It would be a much more TV like experience if you could flip through channels rather than having to wait for the station to buffer before you begin watching! Keep up the good work, and I look forward to the future updates for the app.

Amazing App. I just downloaded the app and it is amazing! I have not been experiencing the problems some are with the router, but it could be because I have an Apple router. Even though my router failed configuration in the EyeTV menu, it still works on my iPhone. So, even if you see that message on the computer EyeTV application, still try to access it on the phone. Make sure that you have signed up for an account on the settings menu on the EyeTV setup assistant or it won't work :) I hope you all can enjoy this wonderful app!

What Slingbox should be..Live TV and more. Yep, this is real easy. I bought my EyeTV Hybrid about 2 years ago. Never used it. Then this app came out. I installed EyeTV with the latest software, turned on iPhone support, downloaded the app. Yep, I had to play a couple of minutes, but nothing big. Works on my network and on any other network. Best 30 minutes I ever spent. Live TV on my iPhone for a pittance. Forget FloTV (RIP FloTV by the way.) This is what you want.

It just keeps getting better and better. I LOVE this app. I already had an eyetv and it's the best product I could have ever bought. But adding the app to it makes it all the more better. As long as i leave my computer on at home (which I normally do anyways) I get live tv on my phone and can access my recordings. It's sooooooo awesome. Ignore all the idiots who didn't read the description and gave this a 1star beacuse of their own stupidity. If u own an eyetv this is a must have!!

Good once you get past the kinks. It did not work at all for me for the first week unless I turned off my firewall. The Elgato tech support people cheerfully worked with me and others on their forums to analyze the issues and come up with new builds of their product until we got it all working perfectly. It's a really nice app and well supported by their team - kudos for standing by your customers with a tricky problem.

Does a nice job. With my mid-2008 iMac (4GB RAM) connecting to a Silicondust HDHomeRun3 Dual-model DTV box, eyeTV streams very clean video via WiFi, and good quality, no-stutter, video via LTE cellular to my 3rd gen. iPad and iPhone 4S. I can schedule recordings remotely. Does a good job for me. Update: For people having trouble with choppy or stuttering video, note that there are adjustments that you can make in the app. When you are on the iPad/iPhone app screen showing the Live TV channel listing, in the upper right corner there is a "gear wheel" that you can press to get to the bandwidth adjustment screen. It may help. I didn't change the defaults and I was ok, but YMMV.

I use it on Vacation. I have a vacation/retirement home in Arizona, I spend some time there every 3-4 months but not enough to want to pay for a Sat. dish. Cable is unavailable (it's in the desert). Antenna reception is not very good due to mountains. This is the perfect solution, I do have wireless high speed internet there (but cable is still not available…hmmm). This streams very well and airplay to my AppleTV puts it on my TV! All this from my main home in Minnesota!

Preemptive five star. There are a few problems with this app. Some, like crashes and poor 3g performance, are rather serious. But live streaming over wifi works amazingly well and displays high quality video. Unfortunately, watching recorded programs at any speed works very poorly. Nonetheless, I have been using el gato hardware and software for almost 10 years and can attest that they have always issued quick updates and patches. This app and the 3.2 upgrade have breathed new life into my 2 year old eyetv hybrid; looking forward to a fully fucntional version real soon!

Great But.... The app works seamless with my EyeTV HD for my MacBook Pro laptop. Good buy. Pros: - I can project to my AppleTV via Airplay and then surf the web. It continues to play video in the background. A small stutter when going into and out of the app but no biggie. - Pretty quick display of recordings, guides, etc. - Quality of playback is very good. - Clean display of guide and data. Cons: - Can't search the guide for specific shows, actors, etc. Only options in the guide are for date/time. - If you change date in guide, it starts at the last time you were at. Minor but a little confusing. - If the last channel you watched was SD and you change to an HD channel, the aspect is incorrect and you get a squished HD display. Workaround is to go to another HD channel and then back again. Same happens HD to SD. - Can't create any Playlists, Smart Guides, etc. from the app. Must go to computer. - Can't delete or publish any recordings to iTunes. Must go to computer. All in all does it's job, but next version could be better.

Performs as expected. After weeks of use it seems most if not all of my problems with this app are not limited to just this app alone. As for features and use the app performs well. Streaming TV is a bit heavy on the phone, which can bring out problems not seen otherwise. Hesitant to give 5/5 though. Would like to see a better UI layout without having to have a bigger screen. Don't know if it's possible.

No more patience. Have been using EyeTV software and hardware for the past two years. Have had multiple issues and opened multiple tickets to resolve the issues. Issues such as freezing of video, recording issues. Now I have been asked to replace my EyeTV HD for the second time. This involves my sending the unit, at my expense, to Elgato. When they received it they shipped me a new unit within one business week. The first time I did this they shipped me the replacement unit and then 6 months later I got an email claiming they never received the "defective" unit! That really annoyed me. Fortunately enough they took my word that I had shipped them the "defective" unit and apologized. The latest issues I am experiencing are a supposed chipmunk effect where live TV and recordings play back at accelerated speed. Also some recordings converted for iPad cause the video to freeze on my iPad. The EyeTV app on my iPad suddenly started to require a passcode even though I did not enable the feature in settings. Cannot access that app anymore even after I followed the advice from tech support to delete the app and reinstall it. To say I am frustrated is to put it mildly. Have some serious issues with this app and am extremely disappointed.

Good start. As an IT and communications expert, I know my way around systems enough to understand how to fine tune my EyeTV Hybrid to fully function with the iPad/iPhone application. Making certain all ports are open on your wifi router, firewall, etc as well as setting the initial device correctly are essential. It streams flawlessly over wifi and 3G, and I can access and schedule recordings while away from home. The only issue I take with Elgato is their horrendous customer service, which, let's be frank, is almost non-existent. Otherwise a great application for a great entertainment device.

poor software. Horrible software quality. With the latest eyetv software (3.6) on my Mac (10.7.5) I can't even get the required preferences to "stick". It says that EyeTV Sharing is required for iPhone/iPad Access. Ok, fine. I check the little box to turn it on under "Sharing" then go to the tab for "iPhone". I check the box for "Enable access from EyeTV for iPhone/iPad". When I go back to the tab for "Sharing", the box I had just checked is now unchecked! Huh? I go back to "iPhone" and the box there is also unchecked. Lather, Rinse, Repeat. The iPad app refuses to connect to my Mac, probably because I can't keep the boxes checked. What the heck? I just wasted $5. Don't do the same.

Good, almost great. First the good, it works well. Live HD TV and recordings look great. Now the quibbles; the big one, you have to transcode every recording (which takes hours) before you can watch it. There are numerous video steaming apps available that can do live transcoding. When you AirPlay a video, it doesn't keep the iPad from sleeping. When initially pairing with a Mac, it fails a lot. Resulting in having to restart the desktop app (which sort of defeats the point of being able to stream content to other areas of the house). You can set up a recording, but can't change any of the export options. I'd love to see those issues resolved, but it's still one of my go-to iPad apps.

Useless. I am quite upset with the lack of support for this app. Even after following the instructions carefully, I export a show using iPad settings and it appears in iTunes but does not appear as exported in this app. The manual for this app is not in synch with the eyetv program as the referenced program is from 2011 or even earlier while the newer version of this program has more options, yet none of them work. All knowledge base articles are old and not relevant to this issue. There is no way to write to the app developers from within the app store, which means to me they do not want to be bothered by fixing their terrible app. That others got it to work amazes me, so why not share how you did it here?

Works perfectly. Upgraded my EyeTV software to 3.2, enabled it for the iPhone and it works perfectly. My iMac is not the primary computer on my network and it found it the first time I used it. The app is awesome!! I get all of the channels perfectly. My only complaint is that I have an EyeTV 250 and for what I paid for it, I feel I should have gotten the iPhone app for free, but I am not going to complain too much for a $5 app. I travel a lot so I can't wait to see if it works when I am in Europe on a WiFi connection.

So much potential, but frequently disappoints. The functionality of this app is truly great. The design is perfectly fine. I wish I could delete shows from the app as well but that is not critical. What is critical is smooth playback via standard wifi connections, and that is where I end up frustrated with this app. Whether staying at a hotel or with someone on their home, when I try to play back a show from my library I only get a few mins playback before it starts pausing to buffer frequently and sometimes permanently. Support has not been helpful. Unfortunately it's not usable.

Does what I need it to do.. The only glitch I run into is the online guide does not always update consistently leaving channels without program info. Otherwise it plays back my recordings and live TV very well on both my iPhone 4S and iPad3 from my iMac with eyeTVHD and Mac Mini with Hybrid. I even use it as "wireless headphones" for my big screen when I don't want disturbed others. A little tricky to sync the sound but it works pretty well. I'd like it to remotely initiate format conversion, I don't let it run automatically because it bloats my hard drive. Works for me.

Kind of a waste of $$$$. I have had EyeTV on my Mac for a few years and bought this app first day, and tried to use it properly pretty much everyday since. All incarnations of it have been riddled with bugs, and should you avoid the program glitches, chances are you'll get stuttered playback over 3G, and possibly over Wi-Fi. I have good bandwidth and I get stutters (or freezes) when I am on the SAME network as my home machine. As an added bonus, you get to pay for the app after paying for the software and hardware for your machine. No free lunch here. Beware.

Performs well but needs more work.. El Gato's stated "IMPORTANT..." requirements are correct. While things worked ok on my older Mini (1.8GHz Core 2 Duo), streaming was problematic....local and wan. Now that it's on my Mac Pro, all is good. I think one has to be fairly knowledgable w/ networking/configuring routers in order to make this app work well. However, the app does crash occasionally but less-so now w/ my current configuration. Personally I'd like to have the app be able to tell EyeTV to convert to iphone/ipad (if the show has not been converted yet) and at least be able to schedule recordings manually as opposed from the Guide.

Elgato comes through big time!. This is my first App review and I've had an iPhone for a year and a half now. I've been using the EyeTV Hybrid from Elgato for years now and love the performance on my Mac. I use it to record my Patriots games and just love it. I too have been intrigued by the Slingbox craze, but this App does everthing that Slingbox would do for me and I don't have to buy any new hardware. The only drawback is having to leave your Mac on with EyeTV running all day to use it, but that's a small price to pay for TV anywhere on your iPhone. Great job.

This App does not work with iPod Touch 2nd Generation model. There should be a disclaimer on the EyeTV for iPhone product page. The screen turns solid green after a few minutes of playing/streaming a recorded show over WiFi. Lots of people, including myself, have raised this problem to Elgato Support. According to Elgato Support "...it seems to be tied into some aspect of the 2nd iPod touch model. That model does have slightly different design than other models, but we're unable to specify the cause - that's what we asked Apple about. We can't speak for the 3rd model definitely, but we have confirmed the issue for the 2nd generation model." I requested a refund for this App from Elgato. Also, it would be a very nice feature if the EyeTV for iPhone App could remember where I last stopped watching a recorded program so that when I go back to watch the same program I return to the exact spot in the recording from where I left off.

Great app I love it!. Very easy to use, i am able to record, change channels on cable box(zephir), I take my tv everywhere. I love thus app. It would be even better if you could delete program thorough your portable devices, and have a direct channel interface to change the channel without closing out the channel to change to another. It's great with what it has but if it could be better why not.

Just "Ok". I am not upset I purchased this app, as it does do what I primarily was after; remote program scheduling for my EyeTV 250 plus. But for $5 I would have liked to see a bit more functionality. Missing features linclude: the ability to set up a season pass, the ability to see what's currently playing on all your channels without going into each one, what channel the tuner is currently set to, if a program is currently being recorded, how much space is left on the destination HD (perhaps even in hours), and a landscape mode that shows perhaps a 3 or 4 hour block of programming for all your channels (other free apps like iTV have this). Again, it does what I was primarily after, but I'm far from "wowed."

Good App. I have a Iphone 3GS and the app works great. I use the Eye tv Hybrid on my Imac and I use the Time Capsule as my router. It was easy to set up on my local network/home WiFi. It took me 3 days reading Elgato and other websites to setup the remote access on my firewall and port forwarding on my router. Now it works great. The Live 3G works great as well. I have not had any problems with the app crashing. I will give it five stars when I don't have to scroll through all the channels to get to the one I want. Keep up the good work Elgato.

Great over wifi but web app better over 3G. Thanks Elgato for the iPad update for no additional cost, the improved picture quality over using the iPhone app on the iPad is nice. I had no problems connecting on the iPad over my local network or on the iPhone over 3G. However the sound on the iPhone over 3G was badly out of sync with the video. That's a moot point though since the web app over 3G still works great.

Excellent app with future potential. This app streams television much better than Sling, in my opinion. On startup of live video it buffers for maybe 5 seconds, you see the horizontal bar filling. The video then streams smoothly without the stuttering and horizontal split screen of Sling. The only issue so far is that the app crashes too often when in the TV Guide section. That was last night, but thankfully it has not crashed while streaming video, yet.

A Great App But Missing "Now Playing" Indication. I have been an Apple user since 1979 and a Mac user since 1984. My EyeTV HD is one of the best of the many gadgets bought through the years and the EyeTV app makes it even better. My only complaint is that when I activate "Live TV" it does not show me what is now playing. Not much of a problem unless wife is watching something and I change the channel! I contacted Support and confirmed that a "Now Playing" option is not provided so requested that they consider adding it. When they do I will change my rating to five stars.

Very Nice. I love that I can watch live TV or recorded TV anywhere. I just wish the app had a faster way to select a channel like typing it in the search bar. A way to only show HD channels would be nice too. It would also be nice if you could change the channel or pick a recording to watch with the iPhone instead of the remote. Just found out it automatically connects to my PS3 through my WiFi network! That's Awesome!

Great App. I have had this running smoothly for over a year on both iPad and iPhone... it rocks... TV on iPhone over 3G can be questionable... but that is no fault of the App. Over private or public Wifi I have had no issues and can watch anything.... the updates have seemed to improve the menu response making this even better.. This is the firs App I have rated 5 stars.

Finally works great. Didn't work out of the box. EyeTV said my Airport Extreme router was incompatible (!). But there is a simple fix on the Elgato support site. Basically you just go to EyeTV prefs on the Mac, turn off iPhone and sharing, and turn it back on. Once I did that everything worked fine. Took off one star because there is a few seconds lag from truly "live" TV, and you can't watch one channel on the TV and another on the iPhone. But otherwise a great app.

As advertised... Awesome!. EyeTV on my iPad is wonderful and does what it says it does... Streams live or recorded content. I love being able to watch TV in bed... No waking my spouse and it is like sitting in front of a big TV since you're so close to it. I've got an average 2.4Ghz wireless setup and it works great with my 2MHz iMac. Thank you Elgato for making great hardware and great software too that is stable and designed well. I've never heard Apple's view on the company but I would think they would be proud how you made the entire experience reliable and beautiful. I haven't tried watching from anywhere in the world over wifi but that sounds pretty darn cool. UPDATE: Still loving it. No problems launching or using the app. Very well designed. Works as well as your wireless network does. The only caveat is that the computer cannot be sleeping in order to connect to it but that's my preference in order to save energy.

This App needs work and/or update!. The issue of stuttering on iOS devices is completely being ignored at Elgato support web site. The App on the iPad worked for me for a while, but after the upgrades for iOS, the problem with the stuttering began ... tried the only suggestion they have, which is to turn off Bluetooth off ... it does not work!!! EyeTV runs great on my Mac, but the App for the iPad ... that is another story. Some people here are giving it a 5 stars rating ... really? Makes me suspicious, specially since this App has not been updated in a while! Fix it, but as for now ... save yourself $5 or donate them to charity. You'll get the same result minus the frustration!!!
