Good. For those saying, it would help If you already knew Russian, all u need to do Is learn to read their alphabet. Only takes a few weeks. This is needed cuz some of their letters sound unlike anything we can explain with our letters. Plus ppl use the wrong letters to try to explain theirs. So learn to read it, then use app for learning new words!

Finally found a keeper!. I've tried R.S. and was totally frustrated. This app has everything I like when learning a new language: visual, auditory, grammar, the cryllic alphabet, and more. I have studied French and Spanish for years and know what works and what doesn't. This app really delivers!

Amazing. Clean interface and helpful tools

Learning to read and listen. Ive had this app for months now. Love it! I've found this app to be less useful to learn vocabulary and more for useful in learning how to read in Russian. The pronunciation audio and phonetic spelling have helped me improve my ability to sound out words and to identify the letters and pronunciation patterns. One word a day is all I needed. And it works offline. And it was free. No complaints.

Do Not Upgrade - Big Mistake!. Upgraded this morning before checking reviews. Had I checked, I would NOT have upgraded. I have a "new" word today that I cannot access and will lose when it loads another. I will not be able to access it tomorrow. I also do not like the Pod 101 that automatically opens up when going to the app and you must wait for it to time out. App DOES NOT work correctly. Are my missed words going to be given once app is fixed?

Stays on my Home Page. So far, this is the best Russian word of the day that I have found. A such, it definitely stays in my Home Page. Being able to save words and revisit them is great. Haven't had any recent trouble with updates deleting words, so that's great. Have run across a couple words that either had no audio, or had the wrong audio, but no big deal.

Doesn't always give you new words. This app is pretty good but the iPad version serious bug. Although a new badge icon will show up notifying you of a new word of the day, a new word doesn't always load. The iPhone app works fine, but the iPad app had this bug which tends to make this app worthless. All other functions (sound, recording etc.) work fine. I'd say you only get about 3.5 words per week on average.

Current update review.. The current update at the moment continually crashes when I tap to enter the application. Before this update, it functioned properly; I could see my words whenever I please. Now, it allows me to see only a black screen before it returns to my homescreen. I have tried to reboot my device, but the attempt was in vain, for it failed to respond yet again. I am waiting patiently for this to become repared and functionable once again. Until then, I leave this comment to inform you of this predicament.

Excellent app!!. This is a very simple, but yet right to the point easy learning app. I like that it focuses on you learning one word a day.

A fine app. Wanted to brush up on my recognition and pronunciation of the Cyrillic alphabet and this app suits me just fine. I won't learn Russian but this works. Like the Listen and Record my voice features.

Just right. Great for brushing up on my rusty Russian. Appreciate having more than one example for each word, and audio for pronunciation. I am staying with it!

2 yrs. i have been teaching myself russian for 2 years now, and i have progressed a lot over this time and this app has been the center point of my vocabulary learning. and the upgraded version of the app is totally worth 10$. only thing i suggest for the devs to add like grammar flash cards. the one thing i still lack understanding is a lot of the grammar in russian. past present future grammar is difficult to understand and i think a lot more people may appeal to this app if it can help grammar issues, bc theres not a lot of apps that help you understand that. hope the devs read this, thx. 5 stars

Great app!. Will buy full version when I finish level 1 and common phrases and such. It's easy to comprehend and had great features as well. Highly recommended.

Get it for the intro. This app does what it says - delivers a word everyday. However, the words can seem rather abstract and sometimes the audio just seems off. Because it is one of the few apps that offers audio it's a keeper.

Good app, but not for kids.. I wish there would be an iPhone app teachig Russian to kids, just a simple bi-lingual two-sided flashcards with big good quality photos. Toddlers get bored with just type, it has to have a good visual. I would pay for that kind of app. Check the best rated English teaching flashcard apps. They do the job. Adults are not the only customers for a language learning.

Mr. I've only had this app for one week and so far it's great. I need to test it on my Russian friends to see if the translations are correct. Great learning tool.

Excellent app. It has really helped be recognize the different alphabet and pronunciations, plus it has increased my vocabulary!

Mixed bag. This app is not bad, but the vocab is a wild mix of words that are too easy "one", "hello", etc. and others that are rough even if you have a few months of Russian under your belt. Plus constant email pressure to buy the full version. It would help if the words in Russian had the emphasis indicated with a different color or symbol on the correct syllable.

Is not opening. I reload the app from scratch and still doesn’t open, open for a second then crash, I had a purchase in it. Sad, hope you will fix it, Otherwise I used to enjoy very much the learning experience.

As advertized.... Free daily word, with audio and playback. If it hadn't deleted a year's worth of vocabulary after the last update I would rate 5 stars, but that's my only problem. As to the crashing reported by other reviewers, rebooting the iPhone after installation fixed it.

V. 2.any. The updates are crap. Every update crashes the app for a total loss of words. Ver. 1.8 was superior to the current 2.whatever andwas locially easier to use. Revert to Ver. 1.8 and I will consider buying it. If not I won't buy it.

Just Don't Upgrade!!!. If only I had read the reviews I would not have upgraded to 2.0.1! The app will not even open. It used to be great before they broke it. 3 weeks out and no fix? Is this a way to push $9.99 full version sales? I'll put that money into something that really works.

Great app for beginners. Do not expect to learn Russian from using this app. But instead realize that this app gives you an assortment of vocabulary that will help you progress your learning. Overall, a great tool to have once you learn grammar, because a lot of the sentences will confuse you within the app.

Very user friendly!. I speak four languages: English, Spanish, Italian and French...not perfect but quite sufficient to get my way around. Now I want to learn Russian because my son married a Russian and lives in Moscow...so I want to get ready for the grandchildren! RS was my start but it is slow and lacks the stimulus and dynamic quality of this App. I have only started it and love it!

Great study supplement. I've been getting my Russian words for more than a year and love the app. Traveled to Russia last year and this helped my vocab immensely. So easy to study anytime!

Great!. I really like this app. It's great if you're looking to learn vocabulary. It also helped me get more comfortable with reading the Cyrillic and the pronunciation patterns. This app really helped me get into the language when I didn't really have the time for it.

Not bad!. The app is useful for a busy lifestyle. If you're very serious about learning Russian this probably isn't the app for you. It teaches no grammar and only one word a day. The most useful part is the pronunciation. Pronouncing Russian can be difficult and proper pronunciation is necessary. I did lose words from my word bank before I had studied them. Not sure how that happened.

v1.5 update erases your wordbank! :-(. Although the v1.5 update gives you the ability to add more than one word a day, it also erases the wordbank that you might've built up over months by launching the app every day! This is completely unacceptable and unprofessional on the part of the developers, showing such disregard for their users' time & effort. Skip this update & wait for the next one that does NOT trash your hard-earned wordbank!! I'll change my rating from one star after they fix this.

It's not really free!!. It says the app is free, but in reality, unless you pay 9.99 to "upgrade", basically everything in the app is locked. You can only access 2 of the courses and 2 of the study categories.

Great App. Very good app. Great to get new Russian words every day.

I like. Not a bad little app. It forces me to really learn the word's meaning and pronunciation. There are a few small bugs. Occasionally, they forget the audio but that is rarely a problem. I've noticed that random words do seem to disappear out of the word bank sometimes before I have learned them. But these are minor issues. I use it everyday.

Great app. The translation is very understandable, the russian form is accurate and english form to sound it out makes it even easier to understand, also with one word a day you can memorize and practice each word until its perfect

Paid version crashes... This free version intends to expand the adv. beginner Russian students vocabulary by sending one randomly selected word per day to your device.. . The app is sluggish and has a disorganized amateurish feel but is mildly entertaining if you are happy learning just one new Russian word per day. For the free app and it's teaching tools to be more than entertainment you need to wait for the word bank to grow. To immediately expand the word bank to 2000 words I purchased the $9.99 "In App Upgrade to Full Version" and it crashed. I found reviews here on iTunes for the paid version and see other purchasers are experiencing a non-functioning app for their money as well. iTunes graciously and rightly offered me a refund.

Awesome app!. I love getting a new word every day! I love listening to the excellent pronunciations of the words and appreciate the pictures provided for each vocabulary word. This app is extremely helpful in vocabulary acquisition. Thank you for making such a fine app!

Mr. Herr. monsieur. I am beginning to study Russian ( am fluent in German and get by in French and Spanish ) . I believe learning a new tongue keeps the brain sharp and focused. I doubt at my age I'll ever get to see a live performance of the Mariinsky Ballet in St. Petersburg.

A Little Disappointing. The app's alright. Still, the recordings are low-quality. Also, the full version, is $10, a price I'm not willing to pay for something of this quality. I tried SpeakEasy Russian for $4 and I am very satisfied with it. I reccomend SpeakEasy over this, but for the casual learner, you can't go wrong with a free app.

Not bad. I've noticed when studying the courses and specific vocabulary words such as the adjectives, the words are always in the same order eve though in my settings the random setting has been selected. I haven't noticed anyway to actually type and spell out the words when practicing. Needs a lot more vocab! I use the Russian, Arabic, and Farsi app and these complaints are across the table for each language.

Dont bother. The free version gives you one word. Unless you want to spend the $$$ for the full version dont expect anything. Wasted 20 minutes download. Extreamly dissapointed about how heavily misslead the user is due to a lack of mention you only get one word.

Great but crash. Great app I am really learning but today I went to open it and now it keeps crashing :( please fix this otherwise until then it's only 2 stars. Missing one thing. Needs stress marks. Stress is key in Russian and I'm surprised they are missing. Other than that this is a great app. I was also sad to lose the words I added before the upgrade.

Decent. The english translation as to how it's supposed to sound is usually pretty off. But otherwise good.

File size too large!. I can't download this large file. I'm sure you can work things out to decrease its size. It's larger than most HD games.

Good app. Along with the actual audio pronunciation it has the spelling of how it's spoken, which helps with speaking the word, I would recommend it as a good starting point.

Миша. Before the update everything was fine, now however I am unable to even launch the app. I hope I have not lost all the words I've collected thus far. For the past couple weeks every word has been a number which screams lazy developers.

Sound. The sound doesn't work on this app. Every time I click on the speaker it doesn't play any sound. How do I learn a language with a different alphabet if I can't hear the word being spoken? -J

Five star app. I had this app for a while and I love it, it is the best Russian app I've tried truly five a 5 star app

More Problems. Don't upgrade. You won't be able to open the app--crashes every time and all your stored words will be list. Trick or treat.

No sound on iPad. Will not be able to consider purchasing an upgrade until the sound is available for the limited items on the free version for the iPad.

Useful app. I love it, so glad that I found it, now I can compete with my girl friend lol

Rating. This app is great. My daughter is taking Russian over summer and this is a great way for her to get a jump start.
