Excellent use of iPhone tech... great app!. Overall a great app and, since the update, a very useful app... It's much more like a harmonica than other harp apps out there… though it desperately needs some blues harp add ons in the next update (hopefully)... Being able to bend notes and get a rawer sound would add to this app's usefulness (maybe add the amplified sound of a cupped blues harp mic, too). People crack up when I put the iPhone to my lips and "blow" notes & tunes out of it… Overall (with a few other .99 harmonica apps and more expensive blues harp app out there to consider) this is an iPhone app well worth the price (cheap) for a versatile and fun musical instrument… that can actually be played as you would a real harp (hold it to dry lips, move iPhone back and forth against lips for note position)… or just use your fingers to trace notes along the playable edge of the app. It's a great idea, well executed and much better designed than the other harp apps out there. Well done. I give it a four star rating in the hopes that additional features may be added. Seeing as how the app is stictly diatonic scale and not chromatic, my hopes are for features geared toward the blues harp player for a future five star rating.

The best haronica app 🌟. This app is one of the original harmonica apps. It has always worked beautifully. They regularly update and improve it. I have had great fun and learn so much with it. Not to mention, it freaks people I meet out, when I give them my IPhone music demo, when they think I’m blowing into my iPhone and playing harmonica lol 😆

Meh. Not worth it

Very decent buy. I enjoy playing the harmonica. I saw this app and thought it would be fun to have. It's a very fun thing to play and it is worth the 99 cents if you like the harmonica. One suggestion I have (I don't know if it's possible) is if you could somehow blow on the screen to make the noise. If you could figure that out, this would be an AWESOME app.

Can’t slow the songs down. Everything plays at top speed and my little boy can’t keep up. He was so excited to learn to play his harmonica and this would be great if you could choose the speed. As it is, it’s just frustrating.

Awesome. I confess that I first got this app just to torture my dog as I do with my real harmonica. But, this is more that I expected! I'm really learning how to play. Even my dog smiles! Get it!

Eh...just another annoying app. It's alright but I regret buying cos I will probably never use it. It's one of those things were I read all the reviews thinking o gotta get this! In return it'll just sit in my attic of apps. It's well made and all but for one you can't see the screen with your mouth on it, and two why use mouth when its just a touch app... No blowing required. All in all it's just another app to look stupid and annoying in front of people.

Like Guitar Hero for Harmonica!. Great app for beginners, it's like guitar hero for the harmonica. Tons of songs for $0.99. The only feature it is lacking is that it does not use the microphone to tell whether or not you played correctly.

good options, too fast. There is a nice selection of music, and the visualization is terrific. It would be nice if the user could control the tempo a little. Slowing down the songs at first would help.

Pure fun. I had the original, this is even better....being able to enter your own songs either manually or scanning would be perfect!

Good.. You Can change keys. The sound is pretty authentic. This app works exactly as it should. I'm sure I won't use this app as much as others, but it's probably the best .99 app I have, in terms of quality and 'does-what-it's-supposed-to-ness.'

Interesting idea, bizarre use of iPhone, not for musicians. I got this app because I thought it might be a cool way to learn harmonica. It is a cool concept I must admit, but there isn't any instruction on how a harmonica is played. I guess I could just look this up on the internets (that's right all of 'em) but I would like to see some sort of description in the app (like maybe an info page). Another issue I have with this app is the lack of ability to change the key. The description does say 10 hole diatonic sampled harmonica (which the sound is very real), but it never says anywhere what key it is in, nor can you change it (i guess this makes sense considering it is sampled and it keeps the file size down but still). Once again the key is easy to figure out on my own (it is D Major) or on the app website FAQ, but there isn't a link to the FAQ from the harmonica app. Being a musician, it is an important thing for me to know the key and it would be nice to be able to change it. I have to say that the creators of Harmonica did do a great job of not trying to market the Harmonica as a way to learn the Harmonica. Finally the way a person "plays" the harmonica is cool use of the technology, and to be honest I was really curious how this worked, but after trying it I got a little grossed out. Summary: Don't get this if you want to learn Harmonica or are grossed out by puting your iPhone in your mouth.

Great app. This is one awesome app for a beginning harmonica player like myself. Easy to follow and play along!! I want more songs. Bring em on!!

A Harmonica Player's Review. Had to add this app to my repitoire of iPhone instruments. It's a solid start but not a slick or adaptable as Pocket Guitar, Guitar, or Band. The samples tend to get in each other's way and produce static. I'd suggest the following updates and improvements. 1) Variable keys (besides D) 2) Better 3D interface 3) Warble & bend notes 4) fix static

I really like this app!. I'm just now getting to know what this app can do. As an avid amateur harmonica player I can now have a virtual choice of harmonicas. I can play without bothering anyone.

For absolute beginners. It's an ok app that is helpful learning the basics. All the songs are either old American folk songs or gospel songs which is lame, but I understand they have copywrite law issues to deal with

Genius or madness?. You put your iPhone or iPod up to your mouth and... play the harmonica. Quite possibly the oddest piece of software of the 21st century, but utterly delightful. You absolutely have to try this.

Mediocre but room for improvement. Worth the dollar but could be better. First of all give it two rows of holes, one for breathe in notes and one for breathe out notes. Second give it the ability to switch keys.

I now own a complete band..... ...on this amazing phone device. In order of preference, I now have a theremin (very cool), a xylophone, this harmonica, a drum kit, a guitar, and a piano! It simply amazes me what people are doing with the SDK from Apple. This is great fun with very realistic sound. You can do chords and sustain notes too. I'm getting together with my Iphone band later and we will lay down some tracks, all recordable on our Iphone!! Wow, this changes everything....

Great app, could use some effects like blues notes and vibrato. For a future version, would it be possible to use the accelerometer to bend notes for blues style harmonica and also create a vibrato effect by shaking the iharmonica?

Excellent Learning App. I’ve used this app on/off for several years, am really glad they’ve updated it to keep up with tech trends. It’s a wonderful app! Maybe someday you’ll add to your library of songs :)

Great App!. Thanks to the developers that didn't give up on their customers. With the new update, you can now learn songs, and it looks much cleaner and refined as well. This is a really fun app whether or not you know how to play, you soon will.

Brilliant!. Hilarious and charming! Here's a tip: To add that "vibrato" effect to your notes, simply tap the iPhone's speaker with your fingers while playing the notes! Just like you would do with a real harmonica!

Missing a few important things. This is a great app, but, please add thesing Shanandoah! This is one of the most important songs for harp players when first starting out. Also, please change out the Amazing Grace notes for one that us more clear. It is the worst set of notes to Amazing Grace ive ever heard. Thank you. Despite those two changes, I'm very pleased with the app.

Took a chance and it was worth it!. I love playing music of all kinds and on anything that can make a sound. But I was skeptical that this app would actually work. I figured I lose $.99 at worst. But this harmonica app was totally worth it. Nicely executed, Benjamin! I love it. As one of the first people to try the original Ocarina app and a few other musical instrument apps I've seen both good and bad (Ocarina is great by the way). This is one of the best. It plays so realistically and once you get the hang of the "chords" button and "draw" button it's a snap to play. I don't understand the reviews that say you can't change key or that you can't play chords. Do these people bother reading the very simple instructions, or take two minutes to play around with the buttons? Honestly, people, if you dont have the patience to test the app properly then don't bother writing an idiotic review. This is excellent and worth more than the measly buck being charged.

Great app!. I was debating whether to give this 4 stars or 5. This is a great application. Very simple interface - not really any explanation needed. If you like harmonicas but don't have one, I say buy this - it's 1 dollar. It would be nice if you could keep the iPod music playing while the harmonica app is running, so you could mess around. And maybe a page that gives options, and info. But for a dollar, this is 100% worth it. And who knows? Maybe an update will come out with some or all of these requests.

Way cool. I bought it because of a previous review that said I could actually use my mouth to play the app. Amazingly enough, it is true! Great stuff. Well thought of and nicely done. I'm sure there is room for improvement, but Benjamin just delivered an app that "blows" your mind.

Brilliant. I bought this from the description alone and it lived up to my expectations. Yes, it is a "virtual harmonica" using the iPhone's touch sensor to allow you to select notes, inhale, and play chords. People I have shown this are buying this now as well. Great price. I would like to see the *volume* of the notes attenuated by your proximity to the edge of the phone. Clsoer to the edge: softer, further in from the edge: louder. You could be a bit more expressive that way I think.

Can be so much better.. This does what it says it can, but you can ad so much to improve this application. Things like selecting what scale harp you're playing, what style (country, blues) of music you are playing, Etc.

Amazing app. The best most creative of all of the virtual instrument apps yet - really does feel like the real thing especially when doing tremolo by covering the speaker with your hand

Totally worth it! :-). I've had the iPhone since the day it came to Canada but due to credit card issues I've only had free apps until now. This was my first paid purchase and I'm not disapointed at all. Works great and truly feels and sounds like you're playing a real harmonica. You can't help but put your phone in your mouth no matter how silly it looks! And yes, you really can play it with your mouth. It's so convincing you might catch yourself actually trying to blow air through your phone. LOL! Money well spent in my opinion. Now I just need to learn how to play a real song instead of just making noise.

Damn. Another time I was fooled by the reviews, I think these are from the developers. It doesn't have pitch bend or ADSR or velocity control. It's more like a toy.

Excellent app. at a great price. I downloaded this app today and I think the developers did a GREAT job in reproducing the harmonica on an iPhone. The only suggestion I would ask the developers for future updates is to allow the user to change the key on the harmonica. This way you could have an entire set in one app. Whenever I try to play along with my favorite artists, I seem to be out of tune with their harmonica. SO having the option to change key or at least tune it would be great. Thats why I only gave it four out of five stars. Thanks for the App!

Je l'utilise avec mon harmonicas, sa permer de connaitre de nouvelles partitions et de verifier is tu a les bonnes tonalitees. Se serait par contre plus apprecier si il donnerait les games de son de la maniere plus connue, soit " en Sol " , " en Do " , etc. Personellement je suis pas trop sur Si mon Harmonicas est en "B" , "AB" ou en "A" comme ils les notes ou si je suis tout a fait dans le champ :/. TRES CONSEILLER !!

Worth the $ for this instrument. Works great on iPhone with mouth. But better to use touch on iPad. Worth the money for sure but I would still love an update that includes different harmonicas and ability to hold the virtual blow holes in the back and also ability to lock/anchor the scale/pitch with a smaller transparent menu button somewhere that will not easily be touched. Plz contact me if u need app tester for instruments

Play along with a real harmonica. I use this app with a real harmonica use the watch function and follow along with the notes I've learned three songs already and I've only been playing three weeks if the creator would give us an updated song list that would be awesome

Almost achieved greatness. When you up date to allow harp tabs of your choice, by any means possible you will get your greatness

Following songs works great!. Bought this to learn some new songs on my real harmonicas, and it works really well for that. My only suggestion would be an option to change the speed of song playback when you’re first learning a new one, but other than that, I’m really liking this app so far!

Very cool. Great app. Worth the buck just to try it. Due to the 2 buttons it's harder to actually play songs than on a real harmonica but still very fun to play.

Fun, but.... I really wish there was more than one key. I'd also like to be able to play along with the iPod music. But it works as described and sounds remarkably good.

This APP is a fabulous learning tool and so creative.. OMG...this is mind-blowing! iPhone blowing! How incredibly clever. It's like Dance Dance Revolution for your lips with approaching notes. Let me tell you why this app is great for a beginner. Which I am. You can use a real harmonica and follow the approaching color coded timed positioned notes and blow or draw accordingly on your own instrument and voila- you are playing the songs! Practice and you've hot them memorized. I want more. More songs! Blues! Jazz! Dylan! ! More songs! There are too many Xmas and Americana ditties. But perhaps these are royalty free. It's ok for beginners but If only we could load songs...Paul Butterfield's blues riffs.. OK I can dream.

Cute.. It's a nice application. Fun for a joke or to break the ice with someone. Don't find myself using it that often, though.

Now a great training tool. This is has been a well executed, fun novelty that in this last release became a great training tool. I use it to play along with a real harmonica.

Great distraction!. I have a 9 year old and 2 year old and they love this thing. It comes in handy when boredom strikes in or on road trips. It's also an incentive to get chores and homework done. ;)

flip. great sound and playability but NEEDS to be able to be played from the other side of the phone so the right hand can add vibrato... is there any way the developer can make the image flip tk the other side??

Cool but u cant flip the harmonica. You need to be able to flip the harmonica around so you can do vibrato with your right hand! Otherwise fun app.

Don't bother. This app doesn't play anything like a real harmonica. It's basically a bad video game and the harmonica sounds fake and cheesy. Nothing real about it. Don't waste your time or money

Love it!. While not quite up there with the thereminator or minisynth, this harmonica is still one of the top five coolest music instruments in the app store. I got the impression it was a 'toy', but nope-- it's really a great-sounding instrument that I'm completely enjoying!
