I personally don't see anything wrong... I don't no what ur all complaining about I mean this is free. And a great practical joke. With this app you can controll your computer. If u are at a friends house and have to show him/her something you can simply get on this app. YOU NEEd WiFi!! This app is really hard to set up!! Not the iPod part but the computer part. You have to download vnc on ur computer and that isn't easy. I can see how it can get aggrivating if someone is on the computer also controlling it but that's the joke. The no right Click and click and drag feature is a letdown. Now u have to buy it ! Sooooo. Yes this app is 5 stares but the setup is 2 stars. ;(.

Great app, good business. I've been using this app since the App Store debuted. This is the app that completely "changed everything" for me, in terms of what a phone/iPod could REALLY be. I've been using the Lite version for months, with the forgotten guilt of not paying MochaSoft for their work. Personally, I applaud them for removing some of the functionality of the Lite version. It finally gave me a good reason to reimburse this developer for their hard work and hours of productivity I have already gained from this app. Thank you for keeping my karma in line.

Does exactly what I need. I installed Mocha VNC Lite on my iPhone and TightVNC on my Vista destop and the setup and configuration of everything took less than two minutes. Mocha VNC Lite does what I need in a VNC client and that's the ability to control my desktop and read documents while on the job. Network admins controlling servers remotely should use either Mocha VNC or Jaadu VNC, both of which offer more features. You have to option to install TightVNC as a program or a service, and those with any security concerns should install it only as a program and launch TightVNC only if you know you will need it that day before leaving for the office. Those without security concerns should install it as a service and allow it to run on boot. Both Mocha VNC Lite and TightVNC have worked flawlessly for me so far. You really can't beat Mocha VNC Lite for the price. Larry

Impressive. Works great for me on both my Mac Mini running Tiger (with Apple Remote Desktop enabled) and my G4 Powerbook running Leopard (with Screen Sharing enabled). Pinch zoom makes navigation easy on large remote screen sizes. Though this client app can handle a screen size only up to 1600 x 1200 (an impressive capability in and of itself), I can still access most of the 1920 x 1080 screen on my Mac Mini, enough to make it quite useable. Suggestion to Developer: Add arrow keys to the keyboard (the normal iPhone keyboard doesn't have them!). Thank you for this powerful and most useful app! For those of you having trouble connecting: Typical VNC port numbers start at 5900 and include 5901 and 5902. All users should make sure these ports are open in the firewall on their remote machine. Mac users should make sure that ARD or Screen Sharing is enabled, and you'll find the password setting in the Advanced option for these services. PC users might also consider Googling for other VNC servers for their remote machine if necessary.

Fixed!. The time limit was raised to 5 minutes. Thank you! Honestly this is the most useful app that I have. I manage my Plex server and run ThinVNC on it. This app works perfectly. The controls and mouse clicks work well and I've been very happy with it. On average it takes about 5-10 seconds to connect and then I'm off doing whatever I need to do. I can right-click on taskbar icons and everything. I'd buy the full version if it was just a little bit cheaper.

Unusably slow when connecting to a large display. This seems at first like a nice app, but refreshing is so slow when connecting to a computer with a large display that in practice the app is unusable. To be more specific, it works slowly but acceptably when connecting to my MacBook Pro (1440 x 900 pixels), but too slowly to use when connecting to my MacPro (2560 x 1600 pixels, which it clips to 1680 x 1200). If I change my computer's display to 640x 480 pixels before "leaving home", then it works well, but that's a clumsy workaround. I'm sure there are ways to fix this performance problem, and I encourage the developers to work on it. For example, there is no reason to refresh parts of the computer's display that the iPhone can't currently see. If the user pans (with a finger drag), then new material would be downloaded to the iPhone.

From a 5 Star App to a 1 Star App. I have never written an iPhone app review until now, but after this  2.0 update I feel obligated. This app was perfect. Absolutely no changes needed to be made. However, when this update came out I rushed to install it so see what improvements were possible. Big mistake! Every change is horrible, reduces functionality, and in some cases removes it entirely. The previous version felt like a finished, well designed piece of software, but after this update it now feels like a beta or a first effort. If this update is an improvement in the developer's eyes then I must say I can't support their efforts in the future. This is one of my most used apps so I definitely had to downgrade. Does the developer work for Microsoft? I wouldn't be surprised because this update has a severe case of Vista syndrome!

Outstanding application and easy to use!. In using remote control on mobile devices, this is hands-down the best one I've used so far. I can even access my Linux box. I've used old PocketPCs, the Zaurus, and all versions of Windows Mobile phones with all forms of RDC and VNC. The zoom, panning, and keyboard controls are perfectly suited for the iPhone. The app is best suited on a wifi connection. You'll get frustrated over Edge...I don't have the 3G yet so I cannot comment on that experience. If you're familiar with VNC, you'll be very satisfied. It's strange to read any negativity around this product being that it's free. If you don't have a jailbroken phone, this is your only option but they did a great job! For those unfamiliar with VNC, you'll need to install the service in order to access your computer. Go to MochaSoft's website under the FAQs for reference and download links.

Mocha lite vs. Other programs. This is a great app. I have used other apps including touch pad pro when I had my phone unlocked and this works better for Zero cost. I have had a few problems getting this app to save my settings but don't let it discourage you. For free I never expected an app to be so responsive. It makes simple tasks easy to do from anywhere and it's great if your lazy or have a desktop computer you wish to use from outside. This is a very powerful application and it has the potential to out preform the keyboard and mouse if you get used to it.

more good than bad- or is it the other way around?. i discvrd via the app store i could convert my iphone into a mouse. at first i thought for what? but i soon had a need for it. i initially checked out jumimouse and although it worked the pointer would fly all over my main screen or sometimes just dance around in directions completely opposite of what i wanted. i decided to check out VNC and it seemed like a very confusing and technical process just to get it up and running. long story short; i installed the entire thing (both on my iphone and pc in under 10 mints. no kidding. since my goal was only to get my phone to act as a mouse (watch a lot movies online and sometimes want to pause/rew/for etc without walking back to the other side of the room) i COMPLETELY missed the part i can also view everything on my monitor right on my iphone. (practically a mirror image. i think this is really great product, it more then served its purpose. my only concerns are security ones. there is the encrypted password option, but i hope additional security measures are added to this app.

Doesn't do everything, but does enough for free. This app lets me see the desktop of my windows box. I don’t use it a whole lot, but often enough that I want to keep it where I can get to it easily. I mainly use it when I’ve forgotten to start my Shelfserver, or for remote-controlling a movie playing through my computer when I’m across the room on the sofa. There is also a paid version of this app for $5.99, but I’ve never seen the point to upgrading when the Lite version does all I need. The one problem with it is that it needs a lot of memory to run, and will often complain that you need to reboot your device to get more memory if you have low memory when you run it—which is to say, almost any time you run it at all. (Of course, you don’t actually need to reboot to free up memory—just use the iPhone app MemoryInfo.)

Original, one of a kind, easy to use, and AWESOME. As of now, there are so many "revalutionary remote apps." ALL of them have a problem, except this app. They are all either only compatible with a PC, take a heck of a long time to set up, or just DON'T WORK. This app is compatible with not only leopard, but tiger, Vista, XP, and other windows systems. Not only that, but the other apps mostly don't even display a screen. They just control the computer! Finally, this app's lite version is not as efficient as the full, but still does the job in a way that rivals other paid apps! Excellent work!!!

Great for windows not for mac through. Okay windows yes is what I call lesser than mac os x 10.5 but my mac mini shows the mouse keyboard and plus buttons over my dock making it harder to click on my icons on the macs dock so I use my dell studio 15 inch labtop and vista and XP have no dock just the start bar button at the bottom which is perfectally next to the keyboard icon and windows users my dell works on vnc with 32 bit on or off but off is lower quality and 32 bit on is way outstanding quality but I must add this acts like a really slow CRT when opening a application or using macro to view videos or other moving media or a pop up or closing somthing it acts like that real slow and CRT like so I would like to see faster macro support and better mac OS accomdations in the next update on this application.

This is a "shell" game App... pretends to be one thing but ends up another. This App is purely a tool for selling RealVNC. It doesn't tell you up front that this App does not work with the "Free Personal Trial Version" of the RealVNC software. Hidden in the FAQ is where it states that they have found that you need to use the "RealVNC Enterprise Edition". When you click to download the "free trial", after the software has loaded and you start it for the first time, it tells you that your "Free Trial" time has expired. Ironically it is supposed to be a 30 Day Free Trial. If this is the case, then all our calendars should read April 1, 2015. I started the process and then 9 minutes later I was told my "30 Day Free Trial" had expired but I could purchase a new license if I want to continue to use "RealVNC". I actually never got to test this App, since I couldn't even use the RealVNC program that they push in this App's documentation. Oh, by the way, RealVNC is also the ONLY VNC Program that the App Designer says works properly with thier "Mocha VNC"... sounds to me like it is a "Mocha Lotta $hit"

I'll give it five for a free app. I got the free version just to try it out. It took me only minutes to set up connections with both my (Ubuntu) desktop and laptop. Couldn't be simpler; entered the IP addresses and the passwords, hit Connect, and I was all set. Over wifi, I can use my 1280x800 laptop with 32-bit colour, but the desktop has dual displays and the resolution is high, so it runs the phone low on memory after a short time. The desktop is quite useable at 8-bit, though, if not precisely pretty, and that's no fault of the app itself. I'm taking it out for a test-run outside my home network, but I've already set up port-forwarding on the router, so I don't anticipate any problems; it'll just be slower than wifi. I'm giving it five stars because it works well and has all the functionality I really need, for free. That said, I'll buy the full version. Not because I really need the extra features, but because the price is very reasonable and I want to support the developers.

WOWOWOWOWOW :). Ummm what can I say... SOOOOO impressed with free application can not wait to buy version (hopefully modestly priced, PUH-LEASE Mocha) I can just imagine that time that I am traveling and forgot to save a file to idisk and want to show someone an image from my desktop or forgot to upload those pesky notes for my next meeting.... 2 quips... it was a little slow for me and I couldn't use scroll bar for lists :( I am not an uber tech that can understand what sort of time I can expect it to take for my phone and mac to have their little convo and make it so that a change takes place but i saw an instant change on my mac and my phone took quite a while to reflect the change even over wifi connection....and I couldn't use the scroll bar to scroll down my applications list on my desktop, nor could i access my toolbar.... but holy cow how useful..... TYTYTY from the girl that always seemed to forget her homework on the dining room table.... Can't wait to see the new version and mocha tech rep please contact me so I can learn more about your amazing product :)

Give me a break. I use VNC lite and I love it. It does exactly what I want it to do, I log onto Macs & PC's and it works the way it should. In fact, I like the older version better than the new version, I liked the ability to turn off the mouse so that I could look at my son's computer without him knowing I was "looking over his shoulder." The new version makes that more difficult, but I just downloaded it yesterday, and I'm still working on it. I'm going to go ahead and buy the full version, even though the lite does what I need, I feel I should pay for something that I find so useful.

Nicely done!. Mocha VNC does what it ought to. I VPN to my office's network, connect to my PC with VNC, and I can work on my XP box from my iPhone. The zooming and scrolling and such make it a little inconvenient to do any real work on a screen the size of the iPhone's, but if I really needed to get at something on my office computer while I was away, it would service nicely in a pinch. Over Wi-Fi it's highly responsive. It did crash out the first time I used it, but the second time it worked like a charm. My only complaint is that when it resizes my screen (my work PC is 1920x1200) it still crops off part of the window. Otherwise, a very handy little freebie!

Very cheap move by developer. Ridiculous. This app was good for a while, and then (just as all the other reviews are stating) they stripped it of most of the features (like the Command key, the ability to change mouse/scrolling modes, etc). Very very poor and lousy move on the developer's part. They've just lost a potential customer, as I was considering purchasing the full version of this app to show my support. Somebody who uses shady tactics like this to make a quick buck on the App Store will NOT EVER get my buck. Sorry.

Works Beautifully. I was really impressed with this app! Although it's not perfect, I gave it five stars because it's free and really gives you a lot of bang for your buck (espeically since your not paying a buck). I have a laptop that often travels with me, but keep the bulk of my files on my ext hard drive, which stays in my office. As such, I have a desktop computer always running at home in my office, which I use as a bluetooth server to backup my external HD. Now when I'm on the road with my laptop packed away, I can still access the files backed up on my desktop through my iPhone. This works perfectly with RealVNC. In fact, I even installed the real VNC viewer on my laptop so I can remotely control my desktop from across the room. The only thing it to remember to set whatever VNC program you are using as an exception in your firewall or you won't be able to connect from your iPhone and won't know why. Unfortunatley, I don't have a need for more functionality so there's no incentive for me to purchase VNC pro, but I may anyway just to reward the developers for creating such an excellent app.

Works well with Mac/iPad. Using the built in remote screen control in mac os x configured to allow vnc clients this worked well with my iPad. In the configuration screen of this app you cannot scroll down the bottom of the options while the keyboard is popped up. Other than that all works as listed. The picture looks great when sized any way. Mouse precision is very good. I wish I could view the mouse when it is moved by the host machine. The mouse pointer only updates when you move it through the Mocha VNC client. I'd like a way to size to fit exactly my ipad screen even if it messes up the aspect ratio of the screen, and multi touch on the screen shouldn't resize, it'd be best if it could be used to scroll a page like when using a laptop mouse pad. Thank you for offering this for free. I did not have any memory problems as many have mentioned. Maybe because I'm using Mac's built in VNC server rather than one from the people that sell VNC server.

Great Application. I find it hillarious how most of you are complaining about Bait and Switch. Especially since you havent paid for ANYTHING! A free app should always have its limitations unless its open source and its only fair to the developer to pay for something they spent time and money on. The developer appears to simply be making a change to the product so it can be sold in a way that it was originally intended. I never had the previous version of the software installed as I just got my iPhone, but I really like the free version and plan on paying for the full version to get the full functionaility. Right after install, it worked amazingly well with an existing UltraVNC install I had on WinXP. I was shocked as to how well it worked over wifi, and its not too bad over 3G. Only complaint is that it does warn me of Low memory, but I can still work around that. Great Job MochaSoft, and I would ignore these complaints as well. You will never make everyone happy, but you have made my day. :) Thanks!

Works good.. It is easy to set up and is quick. I have no problem paying a developer for a good product that they spent time on. I am trying to decide between mocha and jaadu. Price differecne doesn't matter. I just want the better product. I wish jaadu had a trial/lite version like this to compare. Just because of that I'll probably just get the full version of mocha. Also for the person who said it only works on your local network... you can easily fix that. Just log into your router and enable port forwarding and have it forward to your local ip.

Great app. Few suggestions.. I think you should be able to scroll through lists in applications (iTunes for example). In mobile safari when there is a scrollable list inside a web page you use two fingers to scroll. I think this should be implemented. So two finger swiping=scroll wheel functionality. Another thing is when your in the mode where every swipe is a press of a mouse (like when you can't navigate around the screen) the place where you put your finger is lower than where the software registers a click. Another suggestion that i dont know whether it is technically possible or not is transfer of sound. Also I recommend ultraVNC over tightVNC and realVNC as the response time is significantly better.

Right idea, very poor execution. I am glad to see a VNC app in the store though I had one before, from installer that worked a million times better than this one. This one is buggy and rigid. There is no naming option for your connections list - meaning you have to remember which IP addresses belongs to what machine. The app crashes unexpectedly; semi-frequently. I can understand no right-click support to make us eventually buy the full version, but no inclusion of Ctrl Alt Dlt is crazy. Unless your windows machine is unlocked ALL the time then the app becomes completely worthless. It's nice to tie into the machine and stare at the login window without being able to do anything else.../sarcasm They had the right idea and i AM glad there is at least this VNC app - but hopefully they don't think their job is finished and they plan to do an update. Or maybe the people that created TouchPad Pro from Installer will put something together for the App Store - i would buy that in a second.

Good, but hangs up on OS 3.0. The program is great, but after the iPhone OS 3.0 upgrade, the VNC program hangs up often. It seems to be during a first connection attempt to a computer via the connection medium for a session. That is, either 3G&VPN to a server, or WiFi direct internal. Selecting the server hangs the program. Hit the Home button to quit, then rerun the MochaVNC and you can't get a connection list at all. Keep quitting and rerunning until a connection list can be brought up, and -then- it seems to work, but only for the Server you did before. Tedious but I guess it works. I emailed the developer who just said Apple broke it with VNC for OS 3.0. So yeah Apple might have some responsibility, but MochaSoft: please look into making it work again and not just hoping Apple changes something that randomly makes it work in 3.0.1 months from now!

Incredible App... Almost.. Having GoToMyPC on an iPod Touch FOR FREE... Now that's just awesome. The app does everything it says it does. It was a bit difficult to set up, but when I saw it working, I was blown away. It does have a few problems, though. The screen refresh rate is VERY slow, so bye bye flash games on iPod. (Of course, I didnt expect that to be great.) Also, I don't think right clicking should be a paid feature. Finally, I wish there was a way to click and drag. I know that could be confused with scrolling, but I think there could be a switch between scrolling and dragging.

Awesome..and even better FREE!!. This is awesome! It took me a while to figure it out because I didn't know what the VNC password was but I finally got it! Here's instructions for the Mac: 1. To find your IP address just go to google and type in "Find my IP address" and click on one. It will tell you. 2. To enable your Sharing on your computer go to: Apple in top left corner, system pref., sharing, and enable your Apple Remote Desktop by checking it. A screen will pop up where you create your VNC password. 3. After you create your password, put it in your phone, and connect! Hope this helps anyone having some trouble!

Not bad for free. It took me about 20 minutes to figure out how to set this up, but once I did everything worked great. I'd love to see the display settings improved, as I run dual monitors and display 2 is chopped nearly in half. It would also be great to see more information on how to set up forwarding to allow this to work on a system connected to a router. I can see many newbies to networking hitting a roadblock there. It is well worth checking out if you need remote access to your home computer. I just started a defrag process on my Windows Xp system from 20 miles away with no problems. The paid version is dirt cheap, so I may upgrade in just a matter of days if everything continues to work ok.

Almost, but not quite there. Four stars for being the first working VNC client (the only thing I really need on my iPhone that it doesn't come with out of the box), and being free no less, but currently it cannot access the right hand end of a 1920x1200 display (limited to 1680x1200 because of Apple UI scrolling widget limits supposedly), and no multi-monitor support. It really must support at least a full 1920x1200 desktop, even if they have to abandon the sexy scrolling screen. I'd be happy to have a mode that required scrolling in steps or something if it would let me access my whole screen.

Here is how to. Download app from ur iPhone or apple store. Download vnc on ur computer. After install there will be an option to create a password n another one to add ur iphone's IP or any other IP otherwise choose the other option so u can have access from any computer. After u do that make sure u know the password, ur computer IP and the port number (Which should be 5900 or something like that) and check if a new icon was created next to the clock (windows) go to ur app on ur iPhone and type all the information. Press connect n that's it. It worked for me on my first try. :)

Great on iPad if you turn off the low memory warnings. I read the other iPad reviews that complain about the memory problem and I had it too. I turned off the memory warnings and the performance is great. They take nice advantage of the iPad screen real estate. Also tried it on my iPhone 3G and had no memory issues. I highly recommend this app. Am purchasing the paid app. Fix the memory error issue and will give this 5 stars. For those of you with iPads not surer how to turn off the memory error messages, go into the connection settings for your connection and look for the option to turn off warnings for low memory.

Work fine. I downloaded this little app with some reservation due to all the negative reviews. I set up my MacBookPro to accept VNC connections in about 1 minute and logged onto it using this app about 2 minutes later!! The iPads screen resolution is less than your computer so obviously you'll have to scroll around a bit but the interface seemed to work ok over my local network. I'm not exactly sure how to right click but then I probably need to RTFM. I was also able to connected to a horrible windows vista machine no problem. So anyone who says this FREE app doesn't work is probably not setting it up correctly. Setting up any type of VNC server is going to require some reading and research (hint check your windows firewall setting, anti virus apps or router) unless you want to pony up $30 for those zero config apps so please read the bloody manual before you post negative comments or better still get your bespeckeled basement dwelling computer nerd cousin to help you!!! In years past I too have spent hours tooling around with routers and firewalls trying to get stuff like this to work so you have been warned !!!

The definitive app for road warriors and system admins. This is the app that will finally let many people leave their laptops at home. While the iPhone's small screen is not the best for getting a lot of work done, the ability to access every file and every application on your home or work computer is amazingly convenient. Wheter you need a file, to look up info in a database or spreadsheet, or generate a report you can now access it all from your iPhone. I have been using VNC for years to administer systems for clients ad it often saves me hours of driving to make a simple change, but it still required bringing a laptop along and having high speed access for it. This app seems very responsive and it is easy to scroll and zoom. It would probably be sluggish on edge because VNC clients are receiving the entire screen image from your computer but on wifi it works great and I will soon test it on 3G. One word of advice: set it up before you leave to make sure all your settings work correctly. There are good instructions on the developer's website.

Fantastic. This app is absolutely fantastic. There are some minor scrolling enhancments to be corrected hopefully in the pay version. Which I am patiently waiting for. I knew nothing about VNC, but as a result of reading these comments, I downloaded TightVNC and installed it, ( not as a service ). My system is a Windows XP SP3. I then adjusted my firewall to allow in port 5900. Downloaded the Mocha VNC Lite app, and added it to my iPhone. Once all was installed, I opened TightVNC, changed my password, and by holding the mouse over the PC tray Icon, saw what the IP address was. Then open iPhone app VNC Lite, used the IP address, and changed the password to what I used in TightVNC. Then [ Connect ], and instantly my home omputer desktop page appeared then I executed Excel & other programs, no problems at all. Also remember that [ EDGE ] didn't work for me, I had to use wireless. Sorry for the long winded comment, but still awed by the app. This process worked for me, may not work for everyone.

2.0 is a big step backwards.. UPDATE: version 2.0 takes away the ability to toggle mouse control on and off. It is far less responsive, and cannot zoom out for a full screen view. DO NOT UPDATE. Cutting back rating from 3 stars to 1. Original Review: At the time of this writing, this was the only free VNC viewer available for the iPhone. As other reviewers have pointed out, it is somewhat crippled. You can't send certain keys, like Ctrl-Alt-Del, and you cannot use the right mouse button. Once you get past all that, this app does what is left nicely. (EDIT: NOT SO WITH V. 2.0, see update above) With my iPhone connected via wifi to my home network, the speed with which I could access my home PC's surprised me. Looks pretty good, too. You can use the standard iPhone gestures to move around the screen, and zoom in or out. This could cause the remote cursor to move around a lot, so they provide a button you can press to suspend control of the remote system's mouse. (EDIT: NO LONGER SO, SEE ABOVE) Tap it again when you are ready to take back control of the mouse. Functionality is plain vanilla. There is no chat support, no ftp support (though I dont know what you would have on your iPhone that you would want to uplaod), and no support for encryption plugins like the ones supported by the UltraVNC server. Still, it is pretty decent.... (EDIT: NO LONGR SO)

Works with Lion. It works, but there's some tweaking you have to do that isn't well documented or explained really anywhere. Here's how to get a Lion mac working with the new 3.0 release: In the app, go to main/first page then click configure. Next select the Lion mac(s). The third option on this page should read "Mac OS X sign on". Slide this to ON. All that's left is to fill out the Mac OS X user and Mac OS X password fields with your mac's log on information. Things worked like before for me after this fix. Good fix Mocha, just please put a step by step ANYWHERE on your website. That would be helpful.

Unusable and hard to follow. Feels half hearted. Doesn’t work well and has terrible instructions. Eg how do you leave a session i had to kill the app to get out of a VNC session.

Touch screen macOS. I have three Mac Pros in a studio. Almost everyday I need to be in another part of the studio but still need to have Finder access to my host and slave Macs. I use Mocha VNC 4.4 as a part of my daily workflow. I wish Apple included Remote Desktop into iOS, but we have Mocha VNC thankfully. With the 12.9” iPad Pro and its large real estate I can freely move around and comfortably continue to work. I’m giving version 4.4 5-stars. I’m not sure their reasoning for providing a free lite version then suddenly giving it a 2 minute time period within a decimal upgrade, especially when many people have app upgrade on automatic. Luckily I don’t. I’m glad I read the description for 4.5 first. I feel that was a little sneaky. Perhaps so many people were happy enough with the Lite version they weren’t paying for the full version. Still, it could have been handled a little better. That being said, it’s only $5.99. And for an app that it a part of my daily workflow, I obviously have no problem paying. I like the features the full version adds, (mouse support- hopefully local, a Bluetooth mouse connected to my iPad Pro and fully controlling macOS just as if I was in front of Mac - I need to read the description further), Mouse Easy, and encrypted sign on. Question: Does Mocha VNC support Mission Control via function keys, the default F3 key (hasn’t worked for me), , macros or mouse gestures? I hope so. That’s something I need. I have two monitors connected to my host Mac Pro, and each monitor has at least four desktops via Mission Control, plus I use Screen Sharing in a full screen desktop to access my Mac slaves. It would be nice if a simple swipe gesture would allow me to easily move between desktops spaces. Regardless, my reason for writing a review is to say that I much fancy this solution which keeps macOS touch-screen free, than Windows 10. IMO, touchscreens are only ergonomically feasible if they can lay flat on a surface. Plus it enhances the Apple eco-system which I fully use and embrace, (AirPlay, iCloud and AirDrop). Anything Mocha VNC can add to improve functionality with these workflows would be very helpful. Thanks to the developer for making a VNC app that doesn’t require me to create an account, or sign up for a service like many of the other developers do. I will never support those apps where possible. Please keep Mocha VNC account-based free, and support Mission Control and the Apple eco-system (of you already don’t). I will be purchasing more MochaSoft apps.

Works great and without hassle. This program does exactly what it promises without any hassle or complications. I followed the directions on the developer's home page and was connected to my computer within 3 minutes via Wi-fi. It works exactly as you might expect letting you open/view/delete files etc. (depending on your computer settings) just as if you were sitting in front of your computer. Screen refresh was amazingly fast and I was very pleased to see how smoothly the zooming/panning was implemented. Best of all, it's free. Based on the other reviews it seems that if you want to connect to a windows machine you might need the paid version to gain access to the "del" key, but for connecting to mac via Apple Remote Desktop, this is not needed. Even if you had to pay for it it'd be a great deal, but for free? It's amazing!

Impressive that it works, showed some serious problems. Using OSXvnc (the VNC server I've had installed for ages), Mocha VNC Lite was able to connect and provide basic access to my machine. Even with the "Use Mac OS X Keyboard" option turned on, however, the VNC Lite app didn't seem to know how to send a "shift" -- typing a '?' on my iPhone resulted in a '/' showing up on my server machine. Similarly, ! was interpreted as 1, ( and ) as 9 and 0, and so on. Capital letters were also impossible to type. This is potentially a crippling bug. I do not know, however, if it was simply due to my particular VNC server software, or something inherent to Mocha VNC Lite. If I have occasion to experiment with other software, I'll update my report and score.

A Must Have. I use the lite version and it works great. Just the other day I had to call the office and get someone to email a file while I was in the field. First thing I did when I got back to the office is set up dydns, screen sharing and set up VNC lite. Now if I need to access files on my office system I use VNC (or ftp). As of this writing, and posted on their web site, there is a problem with version 2.2 and Snow Leopard displaying only about 10px at the top of the screen -- so 2.3 is being reviewed by Apple. 2.2 still works fine with earlier version of OS/X. Make sure though you understand router and OS/X security (especially firewall and access privs) before setting up VNC, FTP or anything else or you will risk leaving a big security hole in your system!

The new version is worse than the old. I used to love this app. It was probably my favorite app for the iPod Touch. But after I updated to the newest version of the app, a feature has actually been taken off. It wasn't replaced with another, just taken off. The thing that was taken off was a button on the bottom right (in the pictures, you can probably see a button missing in the bottom right). The button let you click and drag, not just click. It turned on dragging or turned it off, so that when in "click mode" when you drag it will move your perspective of the screen (what part you are looking at). Now it is stuck in "click mode". Don't get me wrong, I still love this app (I'm giving it 4 stars not 5), but not as much. Why would someone take off a feature?

Not too darned bad.... Being way too lazy to get off the couch one day to reboot a system in another room, I decided to search the App store for a free VNC client. MochaSoft's VNC Lite was the only such app and with that hearty recommendation, I decided to give it a try. Let me say that I'm pleasantly surprised. I'm running v.2.1, so far have two XP-based systems in my connections list, and this app is doing what I wanted it to do. I don't miss a CTRL-ALT-DEL key option or anything like that. And I'm able to manage and manipulate programs on my client computers pretty much the same way as I do when I'm sitting in front of them, provided I don't try to do anything too elaborate. The one thing I wish could be improved would be a better refresh speed. I sat here at my desk, VNC'ed in to the computer in front of me, and it took almost ten seconds for the VNC screen to reflect what was on the big monitor in front of me. But, beggars can't be choosers. Great app - thanks!

UPGRADE version of VNC Lite features loss of scroll button. Using the free VNC Lite 1.1, I was able to help my mother, who is in another state, resolve a problem on her Mac by connecting to her desktop and looking at it. I moved some files from her desktop to the trash and deleted them, and the problem (she was getting a message stating "0 kb available") was resolved. If I should ever find a need for the ability to do more extensive remote interaction with my own or her computer, I'll happily upgrade to the full version. HOWEVER, I subsequently upgraded to VNC LITE v. 2.0 as it claimed "better screen control" as its new feature. But, whereas v. 1.1 had a scroll button (in the shape of a pointing finger), v. 2.0 does NOT have a scroll button that I can find. Whereas I do see a bit better control in navigating AROUND the screen, without the scroll button I could not find a way to move open windows or other icons around ON the screen. This seems to me a step back in functionality. I deleted v. 2.0 from my iPhone and synced to my computer, as I still had v. 1.1 stored in iTunes, and reinstalled v.1.1. When they replace the scroll button or provide instructions on how to utilize the lost functionality, I'll consider upgrading again.

Fantastic app works great. I have a Mac Mini that is headless that I use for a music server. The Remote app is okay but has limits. I already had VNC set up so I could access though my computer. I looked for the iPad remote version but it was the same as the one for the iPhone. Then I found this. I think most of the negative reviews are from people that don't fully understand how to set up VNC on their system or those that access across subnets or the internet which can be problematic for users that don't have experience with that aspect, I can't speak to those users, but if you use this on a local network and have VNC working on a computer this will set up in less than a minute, it is flawless. This is the best app I have downloaded yet. As stated above, it took me less than a minute to get this to work on my system. I entered the IP address and password and it was up and running. There are also added benefits, if I want to see flash, I can VNC to the mini and enter the address and view over this. I really can't figure out why this would have any negative reviews. Now I have full access to itunes and everything else on my headless mini from my iPad. What a great app. Edit to add, I am going to buy the full version but for free this is the best deal going.

Has potential, not there yet.. I have been waiting for a program like this and the many good reviews made me hopefull that this is what I wanted. I can't get it to work though. no matter what I do I can't get past the "VNC Negotiation" screen. I let it sit htere and sit there, continually proding the screen after it goes dark and nothing happens. I can't find any decent documentation giving possible solutions for this problem either. The most help I can find is a short sentence saying that I may have the wrong password, so I have reentered my password on several occcations. I have tried everything I can think of and nothing seems to work. I think this program could be prettty cool, but until they polish it up a bit more and work on their documentation it might be worth waiting.

Good, but needs larger desktop support. It's a very nice start. It complains about my work desktop being too large (it's 1920x1200) and that it will "cut" it to 1680x1200, but it always ends up black. However, it works nicely at home with my 1680x1050 desktop. I like that you can move the screen past the edges to get to menus and icons where some of the Mocha controls are. Not everyone would have thought of that. I may purchase the full version when it supports larger desktops. Can't do much work with this, but it's handy for transferring a file or for a few simple operations. The app also crashes a lot--about 50% of my trials, but that might be because of the large desktops.

Too sslow. Jerks, stalls and complete mystery hangs.. This app is simply not usable. Even at free, I'm afraid that it's too expensive. It starts slowishly -- though that's just true of 2.x in general, so can't give this app too many demerits for that. But, after it starts up it is just perpetually bogged down trying to keep up with screen refreshes and mouse moves. I've tried it with three different VNC distributions but there is no difference on Mocha VNC Lite. The interface is simplified, which is a nice thing -- but it's quite confusing to try to figure out where you are in it and if you're going to get a mouse-click or a screen move when you touch the iPod screen. I used VNsea quite a lot on 1.1.4 and, though it had it's little quirks and hiccups, it was generally smooth and, once connected, fairly reliable. I wish this was somewhere near that good. I'd happily pay $5 to have VNsea back. If this is supposed to be a low-priced come-on for the pay version; it fails. It's really just not usable.

Not for anyone without a phd in computer science. If you are not an IT professional good luck sorting through this maze of passwords, protocols, IP addresses, and menu upon menu upon confusing menu. It might also help to be able to reverse engineer what appears to be some kind of translation error in some of the instructions. I ended up feeling like my computer was going to be accessible by who knows who, but certainly not by me.

Fantastic!. Mocha VNC Lite does exactly as it states. Connect directly to your base computer from your iPad with either WiFi or 3G and access any of your files for review, mailing or editing. This is definitely one of the best apps in the store. I'll be looking to purchase the full Mocha VNC for Mac soon. Very well done Mocha team. Thanks for sharing your expertise.

Excellent app. Yeah it crashes a bit, but it's free. Very handy app to have, paid version is even better. More features, faster and seems way more stable. Also the price is not bad either.

Wow!. Who could have imagined iPhone apps this powerful would appear so soon.

Great app. All I needed really even d free version is just all u need for remote connection

What's the go?. I keep hearing in the reviews that v1.0 is better than v2.0. If this is the case, can you bring it back. If you could that would be great. Thanks.

Super!. Thanks to the viewer's research on port setting on vista/win 7, change it to 9020 and now it works perfectly good. Only 1 small issue why I can't make the desktop screen smaller? Too big for iphone...Also it only seems to work when my iPhone is using my home wifi but not other network such as 3G. Does that mean I have to forward the port in my router? Thanks heaps to anyone that can offer the solution.

This is an unsuitable VNC solution. The touch to click interface is impossible to use. No thought has been given to how you are going to use the mouse the scroll, or drag, or almost anything else you can do with a mouse. Sure it's free, but it's not worth the pain.

Niice!. It took some free time i had to set it up but it was worth it, my windows firewall was blocking it , you see when the firewall meets a virus it lets it in but when your trying to use somethimg usefull it blocks it but hey its a great app for free

Very cool, handy app. This is a very cool application, I didn't experience the crashing that other people did, it was quite stable for me, I used it with tightvnc and it worked perfectly, I even ran World of Warcraft over VNC with it, although it was horrendoudly slow :) But it's good for things like ssh if you don't have dirrect ssh access.

Fine with pc. This works fine connecting to a pc. It just has a few mac-specific items in the setup that pc does nomt need.

Don't waste your time on this app. The developer of this app has removed all mouse _drag_ support from the free version, so it's now only present in the expensive paid for version. Much better off choosing any of the other versions, which aren't crippled.

Run Photobooth on the desktop and you have a video monitor for the room on iPhone. Easy to set up and the picture of the desktop on the iPod Touch is so crystal clear. I left the photobooth on the desktop in the living room, and I could monitor what is happening in the living room by viewing the desktop on my ipod from another room. It is so cool. I could also open programs like iTunes if it is not running before I can use the Remote. It also allows you to shut down the computer. Thanks for giving it away free.

Crashes consistently. Application crashes just after the remote machine display appears. It's just not usable. Hope they sort out the problem because it's hand to be able to login to a headless server.

Good. I liked the old one better cause it automatically detected the ip address for the computer but it's annoying cause if you need to connect to your computer urgently you need that ip address things but love the new things 

Yay!. Just what I needed, no need to spend the $7.something dollars on this one. Does everything well. One downside would be the reaction time is about 1-3 seconds behind, which is still understandable considering your using a Wi-Fi connection.

It's 'OK'. Initial connection takes a while unless you are LAN connecting. Mouse doesn't drag only clicks. Otherwise not too bad, I can start my downloads whenever I like.

Good but flickers when zooming. Great app, but flickers awfully when zooming - it would be better to zoom the locally cached image of the screen smoothly like almost all other iPhone apps.

Brilliant. By far my favourite app. Will purchase full version when possible.

What do u have to download. Do u have to download something onto the computer and what if u can plz help. Plz plz plz help me.

Excellent. I use this app for connecting to my server at work that runs the factory on the farm. It works really well. Thanks guys! Good vnc app and its free! Can't complain.

More support. Would you support radmin? I'm a game host provider. And use this program. Well done on this app. Would love to purchase a version that had more support for other applications. I'm yet to fully test this app. And I'm happy although it does crash. But for a free up it's very useful thanks :)

Not usable. Got it connected up to my iMac no problem - easy setup. However I constantly get a popup on the device stating that I need to reduce the resolution on my iMac because the app is running out of memory. Having to reduce the resolution is not an option. Will have to find another product.

Hope support lower color. Hope it support lower resolution such as 256 or 16,bw color, well be good for slow connection like weak wifi or GPRS , 3g network, faster reacting speed, full color, overall this cool

Good for simple vnc tasks. If you are looking for a free vnc client and need access to extended keyboard functionality (like the TAB key) then this lite version will not be suitable for you. I preferred the wyse pocket cloud free version as it has the extended keyboard support. While this program suffices I found that other free ones are more featured.

Can't Go Wrong For The $$$. Using it for connecting to WINXP boxes using UltraVNC it has been flawless for me on all 5 of my machines. Works on a LAN and also accross the internet into my boxes. The light version looks fine if you simply want to view what's happening on your computer or do some basic admin work but you will need the full version if you need to move the mouse around.

Excellent vnc app. This is a excellent vnc app, works flawlessly unlike issh that I wasted money on.

No pc support. This app works with Mac but not with pc when in the photos of the app it says it does

Great. A very handy app with a great amount of features considering its free!

Vista help. After 1 year of research I have came with a solution for it to work on vista on ur computer go settings for the vnc server n put port as 9020 then press apply then done then on ur iPhone put the port as also 9020 shud work hope so

Fantastic and Free. A brilliant app. Very easy to set up on PC using the opensource program ultr@vnc and runs perfectly, no lag issues have been experienced. Simply could not ask for more from a free app.

Nice. Finally we are seeing the start of VNC/RDP/SSH clients for the iPhone 3G. This app works quite well on my LAN but I need the full version (full keyboard, alternate click) for this to be truly useful.

Ok, crashes too often. Don't know if it's because I'm using real vnc, the free version, or if it's just this app but it is unusable, possibly done on purpose to get you to buy the real thing

Most used App. I love this App! I work from home. This App let's me check my laptop inbox from anywhere. Even from the couch while watching football!

Great app!. This application owns! Very easy to use. If you're new to VNC and need to setup a VNC server on your computer first, try UltraVNC, TightVNC or RealVNC.

Great app - dissapointing reviews for others that think it wrong that they have to. Great app - dissapointing reviews for others that think it wrong that they have to pay for it. Get a JOB!

Great performance. Good little product, no issues at all

Promising, but crashes often.... Seems to crash after about 10 seconds, as if there is a memory overload or something....pretty annoying...

Update?. Was good before the update, easily 4 stars, but the update has made it worse, slower and just generally bad... Please fix as it was one of my favourite apps before...

Free version crippled after update. Thanks for removing the mouse dragging feature from the lite version ... NOT! Way to convince potential buyers that you won't 'bait & switch'/'nickel & dime' them in the future by disabling another feature and holding it for ransom!

great!. thanks for the update! its much better to configure now! if anyones having troubles getting this to work, download uvnc and simply make sure the password on the iPhone is set exactly to the password on uvnc. i had so many troubles with other pc software!!

Awful - don't bother, unreliable.... Not much use since they suddenly removed the alt, cmd and ctr keys from this version. Thanks, not! Look elsewhere, there are better and cheaper solutions than their paid version.

What free apps should be. Excellent app definately worth the download very powerful and didn't suffer from too much lag definately a well made app and can't Get much better for free

Good Relilable VNC. I Use this every day at work and find it does every thing I need it to do why pay when this does the job.

VNC Enterprise. It was my hope to use this app to connect to local and remote computers running VNC Ent 4.5 with Windows auth. It thought it was unlikey to be compatible but thought I would try anyway. This review is to let anyone know who is searching. Nice app though.

Very Cool!. As an I.T Geek I found this to be a helpful app. I look after 20 computers and a few servers... Now I can remote in at any time.

Awesome!!!. This is the coolest app and works a treat!! I'm new at this stuff so I had to google a video guide on how to get it working (download on the pc open the ports etc) but once I did that I was blown away. God I love technology!! And free? I would have paid for this so awesome. Sure it's a little laggy but up until 5 mins ago I wasn't aware of this abilty so I don't much care!!!!

A good start. The idea is great, unfortunately this release crashes and locks up far too often to be useful. Also I found the need to manually refresh the screen capture to be a little un-user friendly. One feature request would be for support of the resolution 1920x1200 - Missing a section of my screen certainly adds to the frustration!

Works great. I don't know why people give low reviews because they cannot config it. If you know how to use vnc in a standard way. It works fine. And it is free.

It works just fine for me. Operating an Astronomical observatory over ethernet. I have my iPod Touch connected via WiFi to my iMac in the house and it connects just fine to my Windows 2000 PC in the observatory to control my telescope, cameras and focusers. I have no problems opening and closing programs, opening files, modifying text in my script files etc. I can't wait to get an iPad so I can get a bigger screen. (version 2.5)

Fantastic. This is the greatest app I have downloaded yet! Works perfect

Disappointing Lion Support. This app would be a great, simple solution if the Lion sign-on support worked, but it doesn't in our case. I hope others are having better luck. On this end, Mocha consistently reports a bad password using the OS X sign on option for Lion hosts. -2 stars for that issue. Lack of keyboard functions like alt & tab (without macros) means this "feature limited" version is actually "jailed."

Don't update!. It was great before the update. Now the app is pretty much useless without the ability to click the mouse. Cheap business move on their part and definitely will not be buying the full version now.

Help. It keeps saying cannot connect

Easy setup works well but... Wish it had a cursor or dot, then click as closing windows or minimizing is super hard as a finger click is a bit inaccurate. Also wish click and hold could drag, using a button would be a pain otherwise I'd consider paying for pro version. Had it up and running in 30 seconds. Easy to run tasks on my iMac in my office from my living room off my iPhone. Haven't tried off the network yet but it works well. Tried others and they were junk or needed software on my Mac which this doesn't.

how do u find the ip on windows xp. plz some1 help

Ok. Works okay but the new update removed the alt and ctrl keys

.... Sorry guys ..but the new version is not better than 1.1 version .. could you make that version 2.1 or i dont know whatever version would be as the 1.1 version .. you removed all the fun things of Mocha VNC lite .. so .. let's work on it ;)

Good enough!. Install free dyn dns on ur server so u won't worry about remembering ur ip. Have fun.

Crippleware. Not even a control key in the free version. :(

Mocha VNC. I downloaded this APP last night based in an article on safari, if you follow the steps it is really easy. However I haven't been able to access my computer off my property yet? Any help?

Great app. This is a great app. Works perfectly. Ipad to PC is awesome.

Ransomware. This used to be a really handy app, for occasional use. Now you only get 2 minutes of use. That's barely enough time to login and open a menu or two. Now you are forced to pay for the full version. Too bad, I've had this app since 2010. Now it's useless otherwise it would get 4 or 5 stars.

Works for me!. Does the trick for me, Ican remote into my Ubuntu box and do small reasonable task over my local network. No complaints.

Lacks good screen size and mouse control. This app connected to my Mac seamlessly but lacked the ability to see the entire screen at once and only allows you to use the mouse in touch mode which is very hard when the target on the screen is smaller than your finer. I also use another screen control app that isn’t as easy to connect but has screen size options and you can switch the mouse between touch and track so you can use the iPad screen more like a track pad - until I see an update to these two functions it isn’t worth the trouble to use it.

Picky Complaints. This VNC is the best of the VNC apps (with the exception if the one that rudely charges almost $25), but I find I not only hardly use it, I keep it on a back page fir a very picky but important reason. The giant, super-ugly, white (why white of all colours?), icon. It's probably a trite reason for some but if I'm going to look at the thing hundreds of times a day, I think a decent non-gharish icon.

Crashtastic. The application constantly locks up my iPod. It will attempt to connect and then freeze. I have to hold my home+lock button for 10 seconds to reboot the iPod. When it actually does connect (30% rate so far) it's very slow/choppy and does not always reflect when I do something, and this is over a local network!

The best yet. This amazing app works only if you follow the instructions given. It is very convenient and very easy to use compared to other similar apps. Would recommended to anyone who needs easy assess to their computer!

Very good. Downloaded "TightVNC Server" for windows and it works just fine with "Mocha VNC". The only problem is a low fps but can't ask more for a free version. I really do enjoy this app.

Bring back default selection of "Connect" on launch. 99.99% of the time I just want to connect to one of my servers. This app used to automatically bring me to the "connect" screen. No more... now you have to select it manually. Boooo.....

Works, but slowly!. This is app works great, but things are slow on it for example you click close app, and it takes 5 seconds to close! Video is just pictured and they skip like : 1...5....6....9... Not the greatest app

Re. Useless with out mouse click

Works. Works well for basic functionality

Impressive App!. It's amazing this app is free! It works flawlessly over the 3G network - sure there's a 0.5 sec lag, but it doesn't bother me in the least. For users having trouble getting this to work, on XP you need to install RealVNC Server which is a small Windows application; all you need to do is set a password - you can leave everything else as default. If it still hangs when connecting, you might have a firewall and need to open port 5900 in your Windows Firewall Settings and your router. Thank you MochaSoft!

VNC. I love it!! Free and it works great!! Just download VNC for your PC or Mac (free) input port number and IP address and your set!!

i have a question. does this app work with vnc windows platform? i could not get it to work. ill be coming back when i can to see if i could get some sort of reply thanks.

Waste of time. With out a Ctl alt del button this free app is nothing more than a waste of time.

Works like a charm. I can remotely control my PC to manage video streaming to my ps3 while I'm sitting in front of my tv. I also use it to remotely control my laptop when it is plugged onto my tv for viewing vids or pics.

Not bad. The app works good but it disconnects after 2 to 3 mins and that's only in my network dunno via Internet. It's laggy and as I said disconnects alot. Try it out though it's cool.

Not buying. Refresh rate is ridiculously slow on this and makes this app almost useless. I would not even consider buying this app.

Problem with firmware 2.2. Since I have upgraded the firmware of the iPhone to 2.2, I cannot connect to my Mac anymore.

Pointless. I wanted to test out this free version to see if it would be worth spending the money for the paid ones. Sadly the descriptions of all of these VNC type Apps don't seem to differ all that much. So I'm curious why I should spend the 9.99 or even 24.99 on iTeleport! None of them really explain well the difference in why someone would want to fork over that much dough over the free one. I've never ran these sort of applications before in the past, and it was at least a painless experience to set up. Just had to grab my IP address and was pretty much ready to go. But beyond the easy set up and the fact that it was free - that's where the good stops. Beyond that this App appears to be worthless. It can't seem to function at all. The refresh rate is brutal, and the amount of waiting you do just to click on something would make doing even the smallest task remotely so painful and slow that I bet you could walk home from wherever you were in the world and do the task manually before this thing would even show up on your iPad. So overall, if the main purpose and function of this App doesn't work, it makes it rather pointless in my opinion. It's just a shame I'll never know if the other ones are worth it or not.

Works great. Using with ultra vnc and connects easily and quickly, all you have to do is enter the local ip address. Using it with an I pad and pc....works great.

Junk. Used to work somewhat OK, even though limited in time (a pain), and clunky interface. Installed a new hard drive, same High Sierra OS, and now it will not connect. Found a much better free app, Splashtop, so am using it now. Basically this Mocha app is ancient, and the interface is far too complicated—-like a DOS era app! Don’t waste your time trying to get it to work

Just a viewer really.... Without the extra keys and the lack of ALT-CTRL-DEL this is really just a remote screen viewer... It looks, from previous comments, that these keys were removed in Version 2.0. Not worth downloading and installing IMO.

No messages...needs work. This app does not provide any connecting messages or anything that tells you what is happening when it tries to connect. I could not get it to work even though my PC makes a successful connection with the same criteria. Product not ready for prime time. Thats probably why its free.

too lite for me. Very buggy... having trouble connecting almost everytime, don't even think about it if your not close to the wifi antenna!

Stays connected for only 15 seconds. Connecting to os lion on iMac 27 with extra screen. Screen appears, but without doing anything, the app terminates. Connecting to centos 6.0 system works fine

Works great!. It works good but the refresh rate is the WORST! It refreshes every 20 second. Not recommended for gaming xD. Also it ALSO works with window 7 64 bit. But I will make it five stars if the refresh rate Changes to 0.1 milliseconds.

Terrible. PocketCloud is superior in every way. This is limited functionality and bad performance.

fast and simple. it works. it's fast. i use it now and then. useful for simple tasks, but without the full functionality wouldn't wanna use it a lot ;p

Damn!. This app is the bomb... Seriously! Can't believe its free. Note: Vista users who wants to use the realvnc server Will have to go for the enterprise edition, only way to make it work! (see the Mocha FAQS , "mocha and Vista" section, for the details)

VLC Mocha Lite not ready yet for customers. I installed this application on my iPad as the tool to remotely turn off my MacBook Pro and MacPro. After installation I succeeded to connect to MacBook Pro, but when I tried to connect to MacPro, the application crashed and removed on its own the MacPro from the list of servers. From this moment on all connections were severed with the message from the VNC server that "password is incorrect", which of course was bogus because passwords stayed untouched. I repeated the process several times with different parameters, it always ended the same way. So finally I contacted the Mocha support. They first tried to push the problem on "iPad low memory", when I proved that I have 30GB of free space, they offered a guess (quote) "Maybe a conflict with some other software". They neither asked questions to get more info nor made any visible effort to help me out (with the exception of sending me a link to a very basic user's manual). Long story short, the app is not ready yet to be used and the support is not ready yet to offer a real support. So, unless you plan on using this application for very basic functions, give the company time to develop a real, Apple-quality app.

What the .... I am definately 100% not buying your full version after pulling something like that. For those who haven't downloaded the new update don't it removes the ability to use the mouse making this app basically useless. Not very smart considering you pissed off all your potential customers. The only way I will buy the full version is if the price gets lowered to about 1 to 2 dollars. Good job hope your happy Devs. 1 star. Ok I take the above back after messing around with this app I realized I can still click and use the mouse. The missing mouse button at the bottom made me think it got removed. But I still think the full version's price should be lowered.

Amazing!!!. This app has allowed me to multitask in my mac repairs. I can work on 6 macs at a time no matter what room I'm in! As for the complaints about the option key and command keys being removed, that's because they are part of the professional version. I am buying the pro version as soon as this review is done. Would recommend this to anyone who multitasks. It's also a nice way to turn off your computers at the end of the day.

Works great, thank you!. Works great with TightVNC and Windows 7!

Full Version Soon?. From what I've been able to try of the Lite version, this app is what I've spent the last 3 days trying to find and get functioning. I've tried other Browser based VNC methods to no avail. This app was simple to configure, and even easier to use. If only I could use CTRL+ALT+DEL. 32 bit over 3G crashed my iPhone, but worked great over WiFi. 16 bit worked great over 3G (so far). Hope Apple approves the Full Version soon. C'mon Apple!

Not OS X Lion compatible. Does not work with Mac OS X Lion: gets stuck on full-screen apps, or on a new login screen. Avoid this app until they fix it.

dosen't connect. I hate it

Don't upgrade to version 2.0!. If you have version 1.1 of Mocha VNC Lite, don't upgrade to version 2. The developers have crippled v. 2 by removing the ability to use the control and command keys.

Have had to revise my review. I had given this product a four star rating. The most recent version of this app actually removes functionality without adding anything new. If you want to differentiate between the free and retail versions, add compelling new features to the version people pay for. Removing features to try and make people upgrade is a bad practice. It did have the desired effect, though. As soon as it happened I went out and bought Jaadu. I figure if I have to lay down money, I'll pay for the one people are saying is the best.

Thank YOU!. I never believed Apple or AT&T would allow this type of application, but it's one of three I absolutely wanted. As an IT manager, the ability to access my servers in case of an emergency is critical to me, and now means I don't have to lug my laptop away to a baseball game. There is a paid version discussed in the notes, and I for one will pay for this. Now if only I could get a terminal application with SSH access.

Does what it says. I can't see using this often to get work done, but it's cool to be able to connect to your computer if you need to check on things or do a small task. I used it the other day while laying in bed to see if my movie was done converting to apple tv. Then added it to my iTunes library so I could watch the movie in bed. Yes I'm lazy, and this program just made me lazier!

incredibly well done. Mocha's VNC lite is incredibly well done. While I don't think I'll make a habit of controlling computers through the compressed interface, the implementation makes it not only possible, but pretty darn reasonable. There's a few pieces missing, which I expect I'll see in the pay-for variant of the application. This is a real gem of an application, and I think anyone who needs periodic remote access to systems should keep it stashed on their iPhone or iPod against that need.

Great Job!. I don't hand out praise very offten, but this VNC package "get's it". It gets 4 stars because it's in my mind still beta. I manage OS X servers so the PC support is wasted on me. This app has helped many times already when away from the server room. I have a iTouch so I can only comment on the apps WiFi ability, which is about average. If you manage servers you should have this app as part of your toolkit. Only sys admins should use this app. If things are not set correctly, you could lose data or expose your machine to hackers! The app works as said, with a couple bugs. Looks like most _objective_ reviews have named these bugs. I am not buying the other version until I see the following: Bug fixes SSH tunnel support Multi button mouse Screenshot capture > email More than 6 setups I would expect to pay around $20 for this app and the above features.

Good Basic Remote Manager. I wouldn't want to do much long-session server management with this, but in my real world it reduces my trips to and from our headless OS X XServe by about 75%. At home I love it as there are several Macs. I use it to monitor downloads, updates and renders, again reducing the trips up and down the stairs by at least 50-60%. The more I use it the faster I'm getting. I keep toying with the idea of getting the full version, but just can't see why I should. If it had dual screen support I'd have already bought it.

Great app. Had an older version of this that seemed to break somewhere along the line - OS4.0? For some reason didn't show up as an available update on iTunes, but once I found this version everything is as good or better than before. Run it on an iPhone4 and control 4 Macs (one of them overseas) and my Linux headless server. For my purposes the Lite version has all the functionality I need.

This app rocks!. I tried this out not expecting much but it really does work - I saw some complaints that it didn't work on 3G - It does work - you'll get a wireless error on your first try, just retry & it'll go out to 3G on the second try. The only shortcoming is pointer control is a bit clumsy - If you need remote control for occasional use - this is it - especially for the price!

Fantastic App!. Been happily using this ever since it first became available for the iPhone (and for years earlier between PC's, laptops, and servers). It connects with my web server and my personal PC just fine. I'm totally baffled why anyone would pay up to twenty-five bucks for other VNC apps which do little more than this does. They must just have money to burn. This app is stable, mature, useful, and easy to use. If you're looking for a way to remotely access and use distant computers, this is a winner.

Not for the novice. I do not exactly consider myself a novice computer user. I have even used VNC software before - though never had to set up a VNC server. Try as I might, I could not get a working connection. I suspect the problem had more to do with the VNC server program (TightVNC) or my OS (Vista), than this app - considering how many people have given this app a good review. My suggestion: do not bother with this unless you know what you are doing, or have access to someone who does.

Works Great. I'm really not sure where all of the negative ratings are coming from on this app. I have it installed on my 3GS with OS version 3.1.3 and it works perfectly, so claiming it doesn't work on 3.1 and above is just not true. And whining about the setup being technical is just dumb, remote access setup is inherently "techie" and if you can't understand it don't blame the developer. Educate yourself and stop whining.

Good entry level application. I installed the Lite version to try out the experience and i have to say its really cool. The performance is awesome and the clarity is just astonishing. Maybe its just me but i never expected this app to behave this well. The Lite version does not support Ctr-Alt-Del combination so i cannot lock/unlock my computer which is a smart move by the developers mainly because without this ability the application is unsafe to use say with your work computer.

wow. some people shouldn't have an iphone nor bother to even open the app store. because they don't know how to use it. no reason to be rude about this it's a great program and will be better in time. developers try very hard. it's hard to please people who don't know what the he'll they're doing with a phone. maybe if they were nice about it would be another story. Jesus cool app

At first. At first when I tried to download this app last week I was running 2.1 software and was not able to download I could not find anything about older software so I got my phone updated I just got the app set it up and it's one of the best remote desktop app you can have I'm now getting ready to buy the full version of this app. Thank you!

Great for free.. Using a windows xp based machine with RealVNC, I can log in with my iPod touch and edit the innerworkings of my websites. Easy to use and a nice interface makes this app a must have. Needs to utilize the 3.0 highlighting features, and stop telling me my memory is low, it still works, so stop bugging me when all I want to do is edit some php files. Would be nice to incorporate the mouse control to see how well that functionality works, but if they don't get no tolls, they ain't get no rolls. -=Kraft=-

Don't listen to the negative comments. This app works exactly as advertised. The developer even notes that there are issues with high screen resolutions. To all of the people complaining about the "low memory warning", go into the settings and turn it off. Problem solved. I'm using this to connect to my MacBook pro that is attached to a 24" external monitor with a resolution of 1920x1080. Once I turned the warnings off, it was smooth sailing. I don't know what else I could ask for in a free vnc app.

Good for basic things. At the price, it's excellent for remote viewing or a click here and there, however I seem to be no longer able to click low enough on the screen to cause my autohiding task bar to show up, which I could do on previous versions. So if a window is minimized, it's as if it does not exist. I understand it's free, and I greatly appreciate that, but it seems a bit underhanded to remove basic abilities that were previously available and necessary for the functioning of the product. Two stars without this, three with it.

Mocha VNC Lite = AMAZING!. This app is so useful and good that its ridiculous. This will come in handy when ever im away from my computer and need to access it for whatever reason. Unfortunately for 1st gen iPhone owners edge is really slow. Turn on WIFI and it works like a charm. If you know how to set this up, download this app right now! Highly recommended. I used TightVNC on this and it works great. It worked on my laptop and my mom's desktop computer both of which are Dell.

This app is great. I will definatly get the full version when I get around to it. I love it, it's easy to use, practical, and if nothing else great for pranking people who are using the computer :D lol, but seriously, for a free app it's great! I do wonder how it would work on those new iPod touch/iPhones that are faster. Because mine is kinda slow, but what can you expect over a slow network and and an iPod :P

2.0 Criples it even more. I liked using this app in 1.x even though it was crippled. But in 2.0 it's even more crippled and they fool you into downloading the update by saying it has better screen control, which it does not because you can no longer drag. You also cannot press the command key (on a Mac. Am assuming but cannot test that they removed control on PCs) before typing in a letter which was very useful as I typed command-Q to close apps a lot. Also, the bug where pressing shift or caps lock would sometimes not press a capitol letter, making it hard to enter my password in the vnc server, still exists.

Works like a champ!. I run Vine Server on two machines at home and can connect to these just fine. Of course I don't use the default ports and I use port forrwarding, perhaps the last reviewer forgot to open the port on his router to allow it to connect to his mac. Occasionally I get a memory warning, but I believe this is an iPhone issue, not an issue with this program specifically. The product description refers to a paid version with more features, but I can't seem to find that one in the app store?

Works but limited. I like the fact that I didn't need to install any software on my Mac. The Mac has a build in VNC server. I have been testing many of the VNC apps and the best is the $10 VNC app from RealVNC. This software is ok for the price but the mouse movements are really bad. If you just need to see what your PC or Mac is doing. This the program for you. However I understand that there is a $5 pro version that has better mouse control. I have not tried this though. I only gave 2 stars because I feel that I can not do any real work with this app using my iPod touch or ipad.

Avoid For Now (Not Necessarily Mocha's fault). Doesn't scale screen resolutions so you can actually see the host machines screen without LOTS of scrolling. If I turned my screen sideways it generally crashed. After the third crash (rebooted each time) It sent my iphone 3g into a bricked apple screen and I had to restore in order to use the iphone again. Avoid this for now and look at it after both apple and Mocha make necessary improvements. I am giving it 3 stars as I believe there is potential here and these guys will eventually succeed in making a cool and useful tool.

A really good app only if you know how!. This vnc app is just the app I was looking for. I use this primarily to wake up my Mac when I need to use Logmein or Teamviewer. This app works without any glitches! The biggest challenge however to make it work is to get the set up right. Those who think that it doesn't need to read the thankfully helpful (at least when it comes to using airport extreme) guide in their website.

Best. App. Ever.. For all of you complaining, this is a FREE version of course they want to make it crappy so you will buy the FULL version so just deal with it. I use it to play pranks on my family and to get on internet late at night. Love it. Deserves much more than you all are giving it. Once again, Best. App. Ever. A must get. Free is good you dont really NEED full, its just a few more buttons.

I couldn't get it to work; unsatisfactory support. This may be a good app but I am not familiar w/ VNC servers and couldn't get it to work. If you can, and for free(lite version) I imagine this is a great option. However I had difficulty finding support. After wasting an hour I decided to go with Jaadu where I was easily able to find an idiot proof guide. I will never have the oppportunity to try this app or the paid version (if I had liked it). Therefore I can't properly rate it. (I did find a guide while writing this so I am raising my rating though). Good luck to you.

GREAT APP!. It was a little difficult to set up with my Airport Extreme to work with my Mac, but it was well worth it! The interface of this app makes it extremely easy to use! Looks like I'm just sitting in front of my computer! Great app! For those of you using an Airport Extreme, to get this to work, you need to set up a static IP address for the computer you want to be able to remotely access. Once you do that, open up the Airport Utility and forward port 5900 to the static IP you set up for the computer.

Mocha VNC lite. I installed this app and have been using it to access soca. But the other day I just happen to run into client at a coffee shop. And a sudden change in deadline he needed to review the photos I had taken for him to be used in a brochure. I simply logged onto my desktop Mac and opened the photos on Adobe photoshop, once he made his final select on 4 photos, I launched my FTP application and sent them to his office. Mocha VNC lite rocks!!! Thank you Mocha VNC lite

Free "update" secretly REMOVED key features. MochaSoft restricts some features in the "Lite" edition, which isn't unreasonable by itself. But in previous versions, the Lite version allowed you to use Apple key (while restricting some others, like the option key). Upon updating to a newer version, I discovered that Mochasoft REMOVED this feature from the "update" -- and they did so WITHOUT disclosing this in the "What's New" description (which, for the update that removed features, listed "improved scrolling" as the only change). I was considering upgrading to the full version, but no longer; I won't buy anything from a company that treats its customers like this. If you want a full-fledged VNC program, pay a little more to buy the much better Jaadu VNC client instead.

Good app. This is a decent free vnc application. In fact, it's actually really good for a free app, as compared to the $25 dollar Jaduu VNC app that does the same thing, just has some more features. It freezes up sometimes but it was just an Internet problem - I reset my router and Internet and it all worked fine. I have no complaints or problems with this program except the occassional freezing. On my main computer, it can't connect but that's my computer's problem, not the app's.

Constantly getting worse. Version 1.0 worked great. Version 1.1 introduced a bug when click-dragging, and often crashes my iPhone entirely. The lastest version barely works at all, and is missing so many features that it's just not usable. I'm glad that I, purely by chance, kept a copy of the 1.1 version, so at least I can still use it for something. It's like they're developing the app in reverse. Rather than adding features and improving performance, they're removing features and the performance has dropped drastically. It's understandable that they want people to pay for the full version, but the latest Lite release is so bad that I can't imagine why anyone would consider upgrading.

Fantastic. Using it with realvnc on a windows xp machine. So far it is fantastic; fairly quick response even on the 3g network, is able to do all the basic tasks, and connects quickly if you are setup right. A few things to keep in mind though. You need to know something about vnc already, this will not walk you through it. Also you will have to set a port exception on your firewall and this isn't perfectly secure on default.

5 short days to remote desktop access! Awesome!!!!. Used the built in VPN client to connect, used both RDP clients and xterm, clients to smoothly go from system to system, screen to screen. APPLE!!! Let the Paid Version Out! I will be plunking down my $$ when it shows up. Fantastic job, keep up the good work - and GIVE US AN SSH CLIENT! You have the experience, just give it up. I for one would be very happy to beta test any SSH, secure application you produce. Thanks for making my day.

Mocha Vnc. The application is one of the best apps I have ever used to access my server it really makes the user as if he was right in front of the computer. The speed is fantastic and very satisfying. Given that the lite addition doesn't support some important features like the right click or control buttons like ctrl and alt ...etc That is the only drawback I see right now(After using the app for 1 month)

Wow, thanks for the heads up everyone!. After reading all the negative reviews for the update I was able to delete it off my iPhone before I synced to my mac. I then transfered the old version back on my iPhone. I really like this app and hope the developer will read all the resent negative reviews and correct the issue. I agree that functionality shouldn't be taken away with an update but rather added. Also, the new screen control does need work but I agree the old version does need improvement.

This is a great little application for my iPhone - Server work!. I maintain 5 servers in different states. ... Now, 95% of all work I need to do on these servers can be done from my iPhone. One heck of a liberating experience. ... I give this thing 5 stars because it deserves it. ... I also know that a version that supports more than 5 servers, and the key-clicks mentioned in other reviews will be a great upgrade. ... But, for the life of me, I cannot see how this initial version could be rated less than 5 stars.

Useless version.. Not so free. 2 minutes time limit per session is ridiculous. The lite version was offered original and free interruption time cap. The update to disable our app and implants new rules isn't something we consumer would call it an update. You sudden recent update to disable the free version and demanding the purchase is violate our trust. There are many options and vnc out there and I believe you earn your share for the app. It doesn't means you can just make new rules and force us to pay. Most apple use can and has no problem to spend their money. I refuse to support such business practice and pay for it this way. This change of your app is not the right approach of marketing for your loyal customers.

IT engineer. Not a bad app for a vnc first attempt. I can't give more than 3 stars though for a few reasons. First, the resolution is capped, so if you have a large monitor with high resolution, you're not going to see the whole screen. Secondly, there is no dual monitor support, so nothing can be seen on a second monitor. I know it's not my vnc server because I use it with other viewers with none of these limitations. Also, the only reason there is a pay version is that this is an iPhone app. There are tons of free viewers for all other platforms. This app is a good start, but fails to deliver for advanced users.

Pretty good vnc app. Works pretty well for me. The paid features would be nice but arent necrssary. There is just one bug that keeps me from buying the paid version; when you minimize the options bar while connected to your computer the only way to get it back is to close the app and start again. Maybe this is only on the iPhone 3gs; but I suspect the paid version will have the same bug and Im not willing to spend money til they fix that.

Sometimes feezes when trying to connect. This app provides basic (left click only) control of a computer, but it freezes for a minute or longer when using a ".local" (bonjour) address when the computer with that address is off. The app should pop up a "server not found" error instead of freezing. (The only way to exit when frozen is to hold the home button for five seconds to force quit the app or hold the sleep+home buttons to reboot.)

Why would you do that?. Edit: I think it's funny the devs don't show up to face the music and address all the accusations. This just reinforces the d-bag image they've made for themselves. Give us back the old VNC!!! I was so excited that the developer updated the app. I went to use it...and now it hardly works at all. Not for anything, this app was one of the most used apps on my phone and now I can barely stand it. I'm gonna delete it until the developer fixes the problem. Seriously I hope there's a way to re download the old version. This is close to being completely UN-USABLE! Can someone somehow send me the old version of this app so I can install it with iTunes. I will NEVER pay for this app. It's this I'd jaadu for me.

KEEP 1.1 - Do NOT update to 2.0!. Wish I had read the reviews before I updated to 2.0. Screen panning is stiff, spreading (zooming) is terribly granular and more difficult than in 1.1. I am hoping to synch back to 1.1 from iTunes and will not update this app again. I would not even consider buying the full version of this app, as both the free and paid versions are now version 2.0. I would have purchased 1.1 but not 2.0. To the developer: Thanks for a good VNC client (1.1) but hopefully you will realize that you have alienated your user base with this egregious "update". Since you have a virtual monopoly on affordable VNC clients, perhaps that was your intent, but it comes at the price of sullying MochaSoft's reputation.

Cool new use. For all you photographers out there, I ended up using this program in a new way (at least for me). For studio shoots, I have my digital SLR connected to my Mac so all photos get saved directly to my HDD and I can control the camera from the computer. Well, 20 minutes into the shoot I'm getting tired of going back and forth from the shooting stage to the camera/computer. I fire up this program on my iPod Touch and now I can trigger the camera and review the shots remotely. FANTASTIC. Especially since it's FREE!!!

Awesome. Can’t wait for the full version. Note: to use with Leopard, turn on Screen Sharing, click "Computer Settings" and enter a password. Note the "Computers on your local network can access your computer at:" address next to Computer Name and use that in Mocha VNC Lite's Edit Connections lists. And slide "Mac OS X Server" on to get the Command key. This uses a lot of bandwidth and processor, the iPhone gets noticeably warm during use, and it probably eats battery life like nothing else. But the ability to get Back to my Mac from my phone from anywhere is just unparalleled.

Horrible. Lacks usability all over. Examples of missing due to lazyness as pointed out oh there own site. 1. No ssh tunneling. ( they it due to us law, but yet the app store supports ssh. And other vnc clients do support it) 2. No support for ms logon ( from thier own site) Is UltraVNC MS Logon supported No. At the moment we have no plans to support this option. It is not easy to configure on the Windows PC, and will be a source for a lot of support I'm not sure why they claim it's not easy to setup, or for that matter what "they would have to support" as far as support goes for the desktop as there product is only the client (and the desktop is the is the server). So that wouldn't be in there realm of support anyways. 3. They support no other form of connection encryption. So every you do it out for every to "see". 4. Lacks mouse scrolling oh any kind. 5. Lacks mouse offset config. Meaning you can not adjust of the built in offset works (other then to just enable/disable it) 6. Basic keybord options missing, and I see nothing to prove they would exist in the full versions ( example the esc key)

Awesome app. Once you figure out how to use this app it works 100% of the time.. I have multiple computers setup on multiple networks and they all work.. I would give this 6 stars if I could awesome app.. I didn't realize that you could go down to the bottom right next to the clock and scroll your mouse over the server on the comp to get the ip address very simple

Excellent app. if you want to control a home computer/watch what your kids are up to etc. this is a great app, provided you can set up vnc on the host computers. I use it with ubuntu and fedora hosts, but it works with windows too. with a properly configured vpn on a dd-wrt router, you can even control your home computer from work/school/hotel rooms i have to agree the neon upgrade was a bit pointless, but color is irrelevant anyway

Certainly worth the price - plus much more. Those complaining about missing features are missing a critical point - the cost of this app. I think it's amazing, especially given the price. If I end up using it enough, I will certainly purchase it. I cannot imagine being an IT professional with an iPhone that has to maintain a Windows Server remotely not using this app.

Bait & Switch. With the latest version, the author of this program has executed a form of "Bait & Switch", which is considered fraud. Previously advertised features are now removed with the purpose of convincing the customer to pay for the non-"Lite" version. The screen control is substantially worse (although the update advertised it as "better"), and keys that were present before (and advertised before) are no longer present. These are essential keys such as the Cntrl key, Alt key, and a key for allowing the user to "hold down" the mouse button. This developer should be reprimanded for their deceitful practices. Don't bother with this version as it is useless now.

Does what it needs to. I'd like to know why some users, like Da_dude are only giving this app one star based on the fact that it only does VNC. That's all I expect out of a VNC app. It does exactly what it claims to do. That's like giving Safari only one star because it's only a web browser. I would like to see the ability to pinch to scale down the display to fit the iPhone screen, and maybe some sort of larger overlay on the mouse pointer because fine control is very tricky with such a tiny pointer. Other than that, it does what it needs to. Speed seemed good over Wi-Fi.
