Easy to use! 🙌🏼. This is my go-to rhythm box for improvisational music making. Just enough features to provide what I need without being overwhelming. Really appreciate that I can create multiple patterns per kit and switch between them easily, either sequenced, or manually. You can also create polyrhythms, with each channel in a pattern having a different number of steps 👌🏼

Believe the hype!. For some reason I was reluctant to get this. I went through a ton of drum apps and sequencers. A lot of them were very good, but I never really immediately clicked with a single one. This one was different, I immediately got to work! It’s really great and a lot of fun! Check it out! I guess it’s stood the rest of time for a reason.

This was my first drum machine/sampler. I still remember downloading this software back in the late nineties, and it opened a whole new world of music for me. This 25th anniversary addition is nostalgic, and has an excellent drum synth and other extra features to go with it! Thank you for making this and for being awesome!!

2025 still my go to drum machine. Nothing beats hammerheads workflow. Incredible multi-genre presets. Hammerhead is the best.

Classic. I remember coming across hammerhead way back 1n around 2003. I had to go out of my way to rate this app and I gave it a 5 because it is the most user friendly, simple to program drum machine I’ve seen to date. Very good workflow, it is very flexible and sounds amazing. If you guys do an update, please you may add features but don’t change anything, please. Way better than more expensive drum machines out there.

Real nice. Very nice drum machine, easy to catch on and make some beats with. I use it with my guitar so I can try to make some good drum tracks with it, fun to fiddle around with when bored too.

Personal favorite. Easy to use, modify, and create with. Lots of presets for kicks, hats, and snares (among other drum heads too). Built in breaks (amen, Apache, think, funky drummer,…). Drum synth is good too. Killer like all Bram Bos apps

Love it!. I used hammerhead to write my first album in the 90s. Seeing it come back is very gratifying! I’d give it 5 stars if it had a way to export loops to .wav files. I hope that’s coming!

Great app!. Perhaps my most used drum machine on iOS simply because it doesn’t require additional midi apps to play and sync with the rest of my AUM set up. Feature request: Please, if at all possible, under the pitch control, please show note designation (i.e. A, C, G, etc) corresponding to the pitch selected. This will save a lot of time with matching the drum to the harmony with other instruments instead of trying to do it all by ear.

Fantastic but needs an update. Absolutely love this app…the layout and functionality is unmatched. Quick to use with amazing results. Please update with a deeper drum synth engine, more extensive midi mapping (solo per voice please!!!) User folder for voices *in app* without having to jump to import. Ability to send voices from presets into user storage for quicker access. So easy to jump sound to sound in classic, would be great to have that possibility for user sounds as well. Brilliant app I use daily and would be elated with an update!!!

Back to the Future!. One of the first forays into the computer drum makers brought back and updated for todays IOS ecosystem! Brilliant implementation Bram Brothers!

❤️but needs more. Pls add at least 32step sequences maybe 16 per page formatted option in a future update or as inter app purchase and this would make so many ppl happy Glitches and randomization on the full kit only is basic here. most of the fun of these sequencing apps would be to have control over setting locking randomization parameters on each sound individually.. we’re in the 2020s now.. ive assumed most drum pattern programmers had most their fun expressing themselves exploring finer tunedness of their own idiosyncrasies. ive got this app assuming it’d be more fun here :(( expanding upon skimming through and setting different randomization states would be great please consider my request when u have the time

Intuitive drum programming flow. Tap in a few basic rhythms, copy and paste, throw on some chaos and mutation, set sequence playback to random, and you’ve got yourself a nice bed to rock other synths over that isn’t just a repetitive loop. If you’re familiar with the original, you’ll be pleasantly surprised with the upgrades. Bram rocks!

The classic is back, more grown and sexy. The original Hammerhead was one of the first programs I ever downloaded to get into music production with computers. It was instant fun and here I am over 20 years later pleasantly finding the old shark’s popped back up out from the depths, with lots more features added that expands the fun and gets it right and comfortable in the modern iOS music app landscape—with auv3 capabilities that lets it get busy with all the other modern apps, and innovative in its own right still, all these years later. And somehow it still has the simple soul it carried in its original form, that made sure you could get right down to making a beat that knocked to your hearts desire, basically right out of the gate. (Not just for drums either, I love importing my own samples and instrument one shots or melody loops and with starting point adjustment you’ve got some slice arrange capabilities. Of course there’s also pitch adjusting and more to shape your sound and sequences.) Fun and effective for the novice and professional music-maker alike, this Hammerhead is back with a bigger bite, and it makes me feel I’ve come full circle. The first Hammerhead was one of the first programs to get me in the game, and this latest edition feels like it’s one of the last one’s I’ll ever need.

Instabuy for nostalgia purposes. The app is still downloading and it’s already been giving 5 stars by me. Haven’t even opened it and not even gonna question it. This is the product of a lifetime of work and even if you don’t own a single Bram Bos app, you be sure to buy this one. When I was a kid Hammerhead truly inspired me at a young age to want to make beats. Of course it’s so accessible for today’s youth and tbh they are quite spoiled, but this was the precursor for me getting into Computer based music production. Here I am at age 39 downloading a new perspective on a old idea from a developer I have respected for two decades, that alone is worth the price of admission. Here’s to you Mr. Bos , you’re a legend and deserve all of your success , full circle.

What would make this even better!. Excellent piece of iOS/iPadOS kit! Would be beyond stellar if the dev would allow usage on an M1 Mac! 😁

Excellent!. This is the first app i have ever paid for, like many others HH was one of my very first introductions to computer based music in the early 2000’s so thank for the re-issue. My only question is: is it possible to do odd time signatures (5/4) etc. in the sequencer? I don’t see anything in the manual, maybe i missed it, maybe just not possible?

I hate to look a gift horse in the mouth…. I can’t really put I better than some of the other reviews here; this is a blast of nostalgia and still a fantastic tool that’s unbelievably easy to make compelling beats quickly. After hoping for ages, I’m happy to have Hammerhead back. That said, as much as I hate to be that guy, I have one tiny unfulfilled desire. I would _love_ to have back the reverse option. If there’s any way for that to happen in a future update, I’ll come back and rate this 5+ 😜

Good app auv3 sequence mode could use fix though. The app is very good in my opinion. The im thing I would recommend fixing in this app is when using it as an auv3 it starts playing in sequence mode on pattern 2 instead of pattern 1. If they fix it the app would be even better.

BEST BEAT MACHINE OUT THERE. I wouldn’t waste your time and galaxy credits on anything else if you’re looking for a straightforward linear sequencer that has enough options within enough parameters to make any fn around #bholebeats sound like serious #animalbeats … and if you’d rather it sound like playing a kit without elbows - all stiff and quantized like Bender Bending Rodriguez, then that’s in there too. Arturia iSpark is pretty versatile as well, but it feels a lot more bulky and you can get similar results, but not as quickly in my experience. It kinda feels like they made their other drum apps obsolete with this. plus - the fact that you can import your own audio samples for each slot should be a standard feature on all drumming apps, but since it’s not it makes this one that much better. plus plus - if you don’t want to hassle with importing your own samples there are plenty included and the randomized generator is an endless supply of beat candy for your #babybeats.

Ableton Link please !. Perfect, sounds great and nostalgic. I’d give it a 5 but it has no Ableton Link.

A brilliant reimagining to a classic digital groovebox.. As with other bram bos apps, the focus here is on simplicity and immediacy. It’s easy to get something good going, and simple to add complexity and variation to your drum patterns. The fader ui for stuff like decay and pitch unlocks the ability to add variation in seconds. Brilliant! I’m now using this as my go-to drum module for my iOS music making in AUM! My only wish is that it responded to gate when being sequenced via external midi messages (thru Drambo + AUM), so I could easily adjust note / hit length. Or maybe I’m missing something…
