Doesn’t work.... App does not connect.

Waste of time. Garbage app

Terrible set up. Only Bluetooth sets up why even bother WiFi if it don’t connect waste of time

Will not connect. JBL Bar 5 says Wi-Fi Setup and this app is searching for it but not finding the device.

Lack of new and annoying updates for bar 9.1. It is a pity for a company as big and great as JBL that it is not providing updates. I have a soundbar 9.1 and I really don't know what to do.

Bad app. Unable reach soundbar!

No Functionality. This app misses the mark. Unlike the JBL One app, JBL Bar Setup does not allow for changing parameters such as adjusting the tone or renaming the speaker. The only thing the app does is integrate the speaker with Amazon. There is no solution for Apple Home Pod. Hopefully JBL will incorporate the BAR 5.0, 5.1, and 9.1 with JBL One.

Useless. All it does is set up the sound bar (and it’s not needed for that). Doesn’t function as a remote control. Might as well delete it from your phone when the sound bar is set up.

Doesn’t connect…. Followed the “help” directions step by step in 20 different ways and no matter what, it won’t connect to the bar. Not sure if there is another way to connect the bar to Wifi but this App is awful.

App is not picking up device during WiFi setup. Instructions on app are terrible. Ended up unplugging unit but app still won’t connect when WiFi setup is displaying on bar

COULD BE BETTER. Please allow equalizer filters through this app that change the characteristics of the soundbar’s audio. Stock settings are flat :(

It does nothing useful. I guess if the only thing you want to do is connect Alexa, well then this hits the target. Otherwise not worth the memory space on my phone. It does absolutely nothing else. I hoped it could adjust sound settings, or maybe help trouble shoot why my sound bar keeps shutting off every hour or so. Very annoying!!

Here's how to use this app:. Setup won't work if you're paired with bluetooth: make sure to "forget this device" before starting - Unplug device - Plug back in - Open up the app (make sure you're connected to your wifi) - Wait till you see STBY - Hit the power button, wait till you see SETUP WIFI - After a few seconds you should see the app detect the device - Follow instructions from here It will update the software, which may take a while and the app may say it failed, but wait till the device says "DONE", quit the app and restart and you should see it If none of this works, hold down power until the device reboots and wifi is cleared and try again. JBL needs to do a much better job with this app, it should not be this complicated to setup.

Not able to connect to app total waste of time. Omg spending weeks with this b s waste of time this app. I’m sure it could be better if it connected to the app on iPhone! Such a waste of time period. I’m a Pro audio live sound reinforcement a v specialized and I can get the app ito connect! Joke

Disappointed in JBL. Bought the 5.1 soundbar. Was very excited to get set up. Took off work to receive this package and disappointed to find out this app will not hook up to the soundbar. Have been here two hours now. If you want to improve sales…improve quality. Really disappointed in JBL

JBL 500 sound bar. This product is bad. Sound quality is great, but I can’t get it to work consistently. I’m always having to reset. Now I can’t even get it to play. What a piece of garbage.

No. It doesn’t connect. I can’t get the app to connect to the sound bar. The instructions are two lines stating to restart the device and then hold the power button for 10 seconds. Nothing happens. The app simply states that it’s searching for a device. No. Nothing.

Doesn't find device. The device gives off a strong wifi signal of its own I can find and connect to. This app is incapable of working at all just don't use this honestly.

Why?. Why are there 900 different apps for jbl speakers?

Doesn’t Work. The app just doesn’t work. We had to use Google Home as a go-around for the app. Lots of issues with connectivity. Wish we never would have even bought the speaker. Get your act together JBL.

JBL Bar 2.1 doesn’t work. JBL Bar 2.1 doesn’t have WiFi so impossible to pair.

Absolute garbage. The app does not work to connect my new Bar 300 to my wifi. It also requires location services which is bogus. Total failure. Returning the bar. I feel bad for the seller

Works for me. Just like the title says it worked for me. Very easy to use and fast.

WiFi pairing is impossible. Spent hours trying to do the WiFi pairing but it simply does not pair. Connected Bluetooth, not an issue but I’m sure there are lots of settings hidden in the app which remain inaccessible to the user due to poor connectivity.

Cannot find the 1300X. It turned out there’s another application called JBL One for newer sound bars.

Most useless required app. Why did they make me download this app if it is just going to sit in my app screen? I want to disable the auto standby feature every 15 minutes but i cant. It is impossible to use this speaker at low volume or it will think i am not using it.

All works. Connection was easy. Just power off sound bar for a minute. Completely unplug it from power. Then turn it back on, wait for load. Then after it shows standby turn it on. If you see Wi fi setup on sound bar, continue with app instructions. It is for bars that never was connected before. If it was setup before. Just turn it of. After you see standby on sound bar. Press and hold on sound bar power button till you see resetting. Then follow steps above. All is working. You just need to or patient and read manual. Good luck.

JBL 9.1 no longer connects. Horrible app. JBL 9.1 no longer connects

App doesn’t work and soundbar is worse. I have spent hours and hours on trying to get this soundbar to work with a TV, trying with 2 different ones. The center channel may on occasion make an appearance, otherwise you only get background sound. I tried the HDMI cable that came with it. I tried 8k certified as well as tried those that came with my Xbox X and PlayStation 5, even bought an optical cable… nothing. I also have had another JBL soundbar and it was a little better if you were willing to forget watching anything unless the bar decided it was in a good mood. Quality Control for Harmon Kardon is total garbage, both hardware and software. Just avoid any of their products except there throwaway portable speakers you can buy for $10 to $20 at discount stores, soon to appear at a Dollar Store. There soundbars should be there too since you can use them as a Bluetooth speaker… an expensive Bluetooth speaker that has to be plugged into power to work. Garbage.

Can’t connect. Please JBL listen to you customers and provide us with an App that works and connects to the soundbar.

Total waste of my time. Can not connect to sound bar - continues to look for it while it is already paired to your phone. Can’t do anything with it - worse than the proverbial txxs on a bull.

Basic and useless app. Unless you connect with Alexa it’s useless and then limited to doing almost nothing.

Rubbish. It doesn’t work, you follow the steps to connect to the WiFi for the device and it’s connected on my phone (12pro max) and the app doesn’t recognise the connection at all. It’s a shame as I was hoping to get into a settings menu to customise the soundbar.

This app is 100% RUBBISH!. Don’t use this app. It doesn’t work. No access to Amazon Alexa setup. It’s the whole reason I tried using this app. I ended up using the JBL One app for my sound-bar instead. This app doesn’t recognise any sound-bars at all! You follow the connection setup and the app doesn’t pick up anything! Absolutely useless, I’m now going to delete it! I’ve had luck with JBL One app to control the equalizer but I can’t link my Amazon Alexa to it though.

JBL app is Useless Until the Firmware is Updated. Sadly the JBL app is Useless Until the Bar Firmware is Updated. Fresh out of the box on 1 April 2024. The Bar 5.0 had version V21.21.xx.xx. Very out of date. You can check your soundbar software version by long pressing the unit [VOL- J and (SOURCE) buttons, the software version will scroll on its front display. The current version is V23.29.21.70, released April 16. 2022. Once updated the JBL BAR app found the bar instantly and added it to my home WiFi. I hope the above helps others who are not as fortunate to be a computer technician.

One star because ZERO isn’t an option.. This app is unusable. I’m probably going to return the soundbar that can only be configured through a useless app and buying a brand that actually cares about their customers and reputation.

Non functioning. Following procedures several times, but still unable to locate the sound bar. Give up and delete the app immediately!

Doesn’t work. When I try the procedure in soundbar for setup Wi-Fi nothing happened in the soundbar and the app can’t find the soundbar.

Works, but Glitchy. Had to follow another reviewer’s instructions. It does work with iPhone in 2025, can play Spotify through Airplay. It will say it failed in the app, but you will soon see percentages on the soundbar display as it updates. Will take about 10 minutes. Just don’t touch anything and wait a while.
