Laggy on M2 Macbook air. Using any sort of templates with the 'fill in fields' makes typing super laggy on any entry that has a 'prompt' field rendered. No issues typing in entries without the template prompt field features. Also, would love to @ tag people instead of using #

Best for tagging & multiple journals. I downloaded every journal app and tested. And contacted Everlog’s developer. After his reply I went all in and haven’t looked back. In order of importance to me. 1. Multiple journals. Not all top tier journals have this. The juggernaut journal app puts it behind a premium subscription. Everlog’s subscription is way cheaper. I bought the lifetime version. 2. Tagging. AND, all the tags appear on the left. And behave by modern tagging standards. You can type the # and see within the text of the entry. In most other journals, you can’t see the tags on the left, and some not even inside the entry. The others have clunky ways to filter and search on tags. The only journal that did tagging as good as Everlog didn’t have multiple journals. 3. Put 1 & 2 together and I can’t find a single program that does this. 4. You take photos directly in the app and keep your camera roll clean. 5. He just added the templates a month ago. 6. He said he would have video upload soon. 7. He said he would add a shared journal feature so I can share with my wife. 8. It’s pretty and inviting to use. This probably goes higher on this list. The only program I found to compete with 1 & 2 is ‘Bear’, but that is a note capture app, not a journal. There is no calendar interface, no sense of time passing, which is what journals are famous for. My search is complete. Thank you, love the app.

For anyone that wants to dump their thoughts or keep track of them.. I love this app.

A modern approach to journaling. Very clean interface, incredibly customizable, well built and modern. The new icon options for journal types dramatically improves the experience And the lifetime purchase price was reasonable considering how much I would put forwards journals Highly recommend

Great app. Sometimes the photos duplicate when I upload them, but the issue doesn't persist after I close and open the app again. Otherwise I like the experience

Great App, But Some Suggestions. I absolutely love this app, I use it all the time. Some people are saying that you don’t need a subscription for privacy, but just get a lock on your phone. Anyways, I have a few suggestions for the app that might make it a little better than it already is: - Check-listing features - Font changer - Headers - Second journal for non pro users

Skip it.. Why a subscription? And why isn’t there any kind of text formatting? I’m not going to pay for something that my pen can do better. Too bad. I wanted it to be good.

Awesome! Unstable on macOS. I wrote a review of this app before asking for Markdown checklists, and was delighted to find the developer added support for them! I paid for the Premium lifetime upgrade. While the mobile and iPad apps are beautiful, the Mac app is very sluggish—the text lags far behind as I type, and window resizing is very slow. I'd love to see more optimizations made to the Mac app to compliment the speed and slickness of the iPhone and iPad apps. Much love to the developer for adding my suggestion!

great app but i really hopes it get a voice recording option. Great app guys i just wish there was a voice recorder in the app so i more efficiently recored my thoughts please if you could have that as an option it would be so much better guys

A real gem.. Perhaps unimprovable. Excellent software. 👍🏼

only thing that would make this app better..... would be if users could drop in images into entries. i use this function very often as a teacher and artist on the notes app and would love to move all of my note taking over onto everlog. i think all sorts of folks would enjoy this function if it was available. other than that - i love the ability to have catergories/diffferent folders aka different journals, i love the color coding function, i love the data syncing on phone and mac (mac version is a bit laggy), i love the simple format.

best app i have onn my laptop. hey im am ; surviver and sometimes i vent to this diary thing so thanks everlong!!!

Won me over all the others. I did a deep dive on Day One / Journey / Diarium / Diaro / etc... I tested them all and this won me over because of these things. 1. It has multiple journals. Only two others I could find do this. This is a non-starter for me many others. 2. There is a tag list on the left you can actually see... YES! And the hashtag support inside posts is great too. You can tell a coder wrote this. 3. Sharing. The author said he's working on a feature to share journals with someone else. Not just a single post (like all the others), but whole journal. Again YES. I originally thought I needed web app counterpart so I my partner could log in with a separate username/pass. But this solves that problem beautifully, and adds functionality. 4. It's beautiful. Stands with Day One. 5. And price. It needs some more features but the author is very active. So glad I reached out and asked some questions before going with expensive Day One.

Ask a question, get an answer! Impressive!. I had an issue with being unable to attach photos to my daily journal entries. I looked up the developer’s name and sent him an email describing the problem. He personally answered the first email within a day. The issue wasn’t resolved so I emailed details. Next day: step by step help as to how to solve the problem. I didn’t expect an answer to my first email, so I’m impressed that he cared enough to answer, even to sending a follow up making sure I was fully satisfied with the product and the service, Which I am ! sks

Does just what I need. I know it’s not the fanciest journaling app in the App Store, but I’m not a fan of subscriptions and this one had the option for a one time payment. The interface is clean and elegant. Could use slight tweaks in the visual presentation but overall it’s great. It’s been years since I’ve kept a journal and this has put me in a place of writing everyday now for a month. I’m glad it’s a blank slate and that I can just write whatever comes to mind. The more I use it the more I find it useful as I’ve now begun taking notes at church in the app. I figure it’s just an important for posterity to know of spiritual impressions as it is for my life. The developer is extremely quick at listening to and making changes. If he’s interested I’m sure I can come up with a list, but in the meantime I’m happy with what he’s created. I use this app with an external keyboard on an iPhone and initially had issues with reading the text on a scrolling post. He fixed it promptly. Only issue I’m having is that I purchased the lifetime plan and can’t seem to get the MacBook to see the same plan and it’s asking me to purchase it again. Looks like the purchase it still showing pending and so fingers crossed once it’s showing finished I won’t have an issue anymore.

Great App. The best app for journaling and engaging with your own ideas/thoughts/feelings/mind.

Suggestion: “make people feel a little better about being productive”. When applying Everlog as a shortcut, it suggests a 7-day average for word count. I look at this with doubt and remember the days of the week I didn’t write, which statistically brings down my average. I feel happier and more productive when I write, and seeing a higher average word count has become a mini-challenge for me lately. I think more people would feel better to see a higher average for their daily goals, so here’s what I suggest: using the trimmed mean as the new way to track word count for users so computing the mean of the middle 80% of your data, while ignoring the top and bottom 10% (which excludes outliers and suggests a more accurate representation of average writing habits) please consider! (: -Matilyn

Truly minimalistic.. I only have 2 other needs when it comes to a journaling companion other than simplicity and those are organization and convenience. The organization by a date on a separate tab is a wonderful idea and it helps keep the platform clean and orderly. The convenience of this app also connects with how easily I can retrace my entries and go back at any given time. I use this on my iPad and I love it but I guess I’m also wishing that this is made available on Android OS. I think it would definitely hit a broader target and will have more market exposure.

Not worth it at the moment. Full version is $36. Guess what that unlocks —> iCloud sync, multiple journals, password protection and a few extra app icons. I understand the dev wants a return on the time and energy that went into making this thing but $36 USD (or $17/year or $2/month) is just a stupid ask for what you get in return. Other note apps with identical features are not nearly as expensive. I recommend swiping back, maybe changing your search words and finding another notes app.

Interesting app. Overall the app is very good. Simple and easy to use. I do like I can use Siri and put in notes on the fly. It also says that it imports DayOne entries. This is great as I do current have an account with DayOne Unfortunately it is hard to test some of the features as you have to purchase it before you do. It has no help section. Developers website is only a place to put your email address. No pictures. No video of product.

Fundamentally broken. in a text editor, command+delete should function as a shortcut to delete a line of text. In this app, it deletes the entire note. Pressing command+z crashes the app. This combination of faults made me lose lots of work, twice.

I love this app. This might actually be one of my favorite apps of all time. It’s so simple, I’m constantly impressed by the design, and it makes me feel so much better knowing I now have such a lovely place to store all my thoughts and important dates.

Great Start. Keep it Simple. Edit: Bumped up to four stars. There is now terrific shortcuts support, a lifetime license option and bulk export. Two small missing features. One, the ability to export all entries from a journal as a single text file vs just a CSV and/or facilitate this via Shortcuts so that there is a way to backup. And also, a trash can for deleted entries as one reviewer said is needed too. Original review.... I like the premise of this app. It is wonderfully simple. However, I have two major issues that make it a nonstarter for me. First, there’s no way to bulk export all entries. You are, for now, locked in except for one-by-one exports. Second, the subscription price is too high for what’s essentially syncing and icons. It also would benefit from having Shortcuts support but that’s secondary.

Passing thoughts. Changed my life. For passive thoughts rather than active journaling. The distinction makes all the difference.

Disappointed. Suddenly can’t write entries in any of my journals unless I sign up for premium. Can’t adjust the date unless I sign up for premium. The app has become unusable overnight.

App is AMAZING!!!. What I love the most is adding pictures to my journal entries. This app is amazing and well worth the money! I have been using it like crazy. Hope you guys continue to add more to the app and keep up the great work.

LOVE LOVE LOVE. I really love everything about it but i'm trying to lock my things but I cant because I can't see it anywhere.

Nice idea, lacks of options. This apps looks amazing: minimalist, nice design and on point, but it lacks of options. I've loved to see an rich text editor, where i can make font bold, italic and that stuff and i cant embed or attach images or videos yet. I think these features are essentials. Overall looks good, hope these features can be integrated in future

So Perfect and Easy!. So simple to use with so many extra personalizations. Start on one device and switch to another throughout the day seamlessly! On top of how great this journal is...the personal support you get from the developer, Wessley! Still not convinced, take advantage of a trial period or use it only for a year. You will be renewing that subscription!

Love it so far. The simplicity makes it easy to get started without feeling overwhelmed. It’s like having a text convo with yourself. Or like private tweets. It’s be nice if you could include pictures.

I feel safe in this app. Beautiful typography and incredibly well-designed notes app. I never really liked journaling because I can get so in my head about what I’m writing. Here, it feels easy to jot down passing thoughts! Having some control to organize notes into different categories definitely helps me to not be so precious. P.S. a calendar app from you guys would be an instant YES for me. Think about it..

Keeps getting better. Love Everlog and use it daily. It keeps getting better. And a very committed and helpful developer 😊

Everlog is a great app for tracking things. I find it far easier to quickly log items in this app than in any of the more feature heavy note or diary apps. For me, this convenience puts Everlog squarely in the five star category.

Love this app!. It's fluid, smooth, and beautiful. I would love the option to additionally have @ as well as # to separate tags and people.

Absolute delight to use!. My word how I wish I had been using Everlog for years. I’m in love with it’s simplicity and thoughtful design. Feels super native to the system and a lot of great OS conventions. I imported 11 years history from another app and the migration was seamless.

Perfect journaling app. The interface is SO clean, and it has exactly all the features I need. Love the sync between devices. Was so easy to import my journal from Day One and continue right where I left off. Great work!!!

Very Impressed. This is really a fantastic little app! Anyone needing to keep an ongoing written log will benefit from this. My use case is facility management where I need to take lots of quick (time/date stamped) notes to document complaints, issues, and actions throughout the day. I'd been struggling to find a tech solution to the problem because all the apps I found were either too basic or too complicated. This app sits nicely in the middle. It's almost perfect. That it's available in iPhone, iPad, and Mac versions is blowing my mind given how modest it is. If I could ask the author for one thing it would be tags. Tags would make it perfect. And if you develop it further please consider integrating with Apple Reminders and Apple Calendar. Well done Wessley. Very impressed.

This a great quick note taking app. I've used this app since it was in beta. I found the developer through a twitter thread one day and decided to give it a shot. I use this app all the time to write down random things I need to keep track of day to day, or when I have an idea I don't want to forget. Having the notes correspond to the date and time I writee them is very helpful. The UI of the app is great. Definetly give this app a try if you are tired of having to using the stock notes app.

This has become my go-to. Everlog has become a fantastic go-to app for me! The recent update has me impressed and excited to continue using the app. For day to day journaling, it’s my favorite. It’s a beautifully built app, works smoothly, provides a nice set of features without being cumbersome, and has become THE place where I store important thoughts & reflections.

Nice UI, but privacy/security problems. A "premium" feature allows you to "lock" access to the app using a 4-digit code or Touch ID. This is useless because backups are stored in iCloud drive in the clear. So even with the "lock" anyone with access to the iCloud drive can read your journal. Adding a "lock" to the app provides no additional security/provacy beyond what you get by using iCloud. To make the "lock" feature to have any value at all, the data needs to be encrypted.

This app is great but... Love the app guys especially since it has the one time purchase loge the features and the facts it has this minimalist design all the better, but the only thing I would add would be a way to integrate a voice record option. For people like me where sometimes vocalizing is better that typing for me. I hope you guys will work on that. Thanks guys I appreciate it!

Another subscription app...ugh. This app looks just like something I have wanted, but so disappointed to see that instead of a reasonable one time purchase, the necessary features of this app such as privacy, require a subscription. I’m so tired of apps going in this direction. Two dollars here, five dollars there, it all adds up and I hate seeing these charges every month on my credit card! Also there is no watch app included.

Can’t use Apple Pencil. I have a Mini and use pencil to write because typing is not easy. If I knew this app doesn’t support Apple Pencil, I would not have purchased this app.

not impressed. this is basically a copy of the day one journaling app.

loved until app broke. Loved the app and then it stopped opening for me. uninstalled at least 5 times and it still doesn't open. Payed for premium because i was loving it but the app will NOT open! So dissapointed. :(

Great app, laggy on macOS. I found this app last month, and I already have the premium version because I think it's worth it. it's the only cross-platform app I know of and markdown support is a nice touch, but currently the Mac app sometimes gets pretty laggy when I am typing. While I do have a lot of entries, this does not happen on my iPad.

Love the app, BUT.... I love the layout and function of the app, but what journaling apps need to relize is the need for end-to-encryption and this app doesn't seem to have it. A journal (diary) can contain the most personal of information about ones life so the need to have it totally locked down to ONLY the owner of the journal is a must!! Without end-to-end ecryption it is pretty much another note taking app. This is a well designed app. Just wish I could use it without hesitancy.

This is what I’ve been looking for.. A simple, integrated, and private journal with comments and tags. I love that I can engage with myself on my terms and not be violated. The Mac-integration through iCloud is really essential too. It would be really cool to see the addition of audio to this. Would love to capture voice memos when thats the preferred method.

So Much Potential. So I been looking for a journaling/ note taking app that is simple, very visually appealing and provides a place to get lost in your text. This app has much of what I been looking for. I do have a few additions I would like to see. I do think a recently deleted folder is needed. The app could provide different fonts. Also the ability to upload a picture or document to a journal post would be nice. Overall I like what I see so far. I see some people make some valid points but this app is early in development and should allow for some time to see if the cost is worth it or not. I believe the price is is good for the possibilities that can come from this and features for the future. I’ve spent more on new and established apps that turned out to be not so good. I think the dev is doing a great job with this project and I’m looking forward to see where it goes. The potential here is something that I want to see progress over time. Also I would love to see a native Mac version of the app.

Good but has bugs. This app has the ability to be excellent. It does however loose the most recent entries if you quit the app or if the app crashes. Team, please fix this ASAP. Cheers

Excellent!. Perhaps a little limited in its functionality, Everlog is nevertheless a great app for recording daily journals - and being able to export them to, for example, CSV format.

this app was perfect until it crashed. this app was seriously so perfect for a journal in every way, but today it crashed as i was writing an entry and i lost every single entry that i had ever written and i honestly am devastated. please fix this for future users for this app.

Best Journal. This is by far the best journal and the most user friendly.

Everlog changed my life!. You know the meme from Brooklyn 99, "I've only had Arlo for a day and a half, but if anything happened to him...". Well, that's how I feel about Everlog. No other journalling app has ever given me exactly what I needed like this one, encouraging me to write in little bursts and with a friendly UI and UX that looks good, and just works. I really feel SO unbelievably happy to have found Everlog, it's indispensible to me now! It has helped my mental health to have something like this to jot down thoughts in on mobile or Mac whenever I need. And the developer is very responsive and updates with improvements frequently as well! I hope this app becomes as popular and successful as it deserves!

Can’t export files to Day One. Attempting to move my entries from Everlog to Day One and the JSON based export doesn’t appear to work properly

Feels like I’ve been waiting for this app all my life…. There’s something that’s very hard to pinpoint about journaling apps, something that requires good design, UI and UX that makes it pleasurable and easy to open an app every day to enter thoughts. Day One and many other apps have failed me on this front. The short and sweet minute-by-minute log of Everlog is exactly what I wanted from a journalling app - something that makes noting thoughts feel more like messaging a friend or writing a tweet than having to come up with a grand essay for every day. Who has time for that? I’ve only used this app for a little while, but it absolutely nails it on a baseline of functionality. I love being able to jot something down in any number of coloured ‘journals’ and have it show up in a timeline together or separately! There’s still a bit of room for this app to grow to be as pleasurable to write longer/more complex content in as something like Noto, but since I first wrote this review the developer has already pushed two updates with user improvements in a week(!), and even if the app never updated again, it would still be one of my favourites of all time. Thank you to the creator - it’s been an absolute delight to use so far, and it’s genuinely changed my life for the better!

Consistent scribing across platforms. Using the iOS and MacOS platforms, I have a very comfortable experience, with access to all of the features sets. I just open the device, access Everlog, and I’m immediately immersed into a known creative environment. Well Done! Integration of external devices, such as bluetooth keyboard input, is well implemented. Potential is there (not yet available) to minimize floating tool palettes that conflict with iOS keyboard settings palettes. The developer is prompt, knowledgeable, and tactful to respond to “blips” (ex Daylight Saving Time) (markdown syntax issues) (hashtag mix-ups). Anything that I have mentioned is usually resolved in 48 hours or less, with a response time of minutes to 4 hours. Kudos for supporting your app subscribers! My most appreciated Everlog feature: the iCloud sync works — first time, every time. And that’s why I changed from a certain app, Evern__, that failed to deliver the fundamental core feature of daily journaling app: keep one’s data secure, accessible, with formatting intact. Everlog, the app, deserves your careful consideration and support.

Used for a week. My thoughts. The app feels intuitive and minimalist; exactly as marketed. Not a big fan of the premium option as it doesn’t give you that many reasons to get premium (having a passcode lock shouldn’t require premium, it’s free on apps like Instagram). But so far this app seems to be doing its job really well. I feel much better after venting out a wall of text on this app.

My Journal app!. Love this journal app, it’s my favourite for its minimalistic design and simplicity. Thank you!

Simple and easy to use!. I’ve been trying a lot of different journaling/dairy apps, this is so far my favourite. Totally suits my styles!

wow juste wow. jadore tres simple

No Encryption. No privacy.

My Journal Forever!. The Everlog app is definitely the most beautiful journal app ever released in the App Store making journaling rather an addiction!

A real gem.. Perhaps unimprovable. Excellent software. 👍🏼

Seriously?. This is the third app like this I’ve tried, and the first to charge a prescription price. A prescription to make notes? Despicable.

Truly minimalistic.. I only have 2 other needs when it comes to a journaling companion other than simplicity and those are organization and convenience.
