Great game, one big (tiny actually!) problem. This game is highly creative and very fun! The graphics r great and so is the storyline. There is one problem with this game at its current state... the text (and it is a text-filled game) is sooo tiny it hurts my eyes to read. Plz developers, as I see u r patching the game, plz increase the text size or give an option to do so in your settings screen! That being said, great game yall!

Wishing for Endless run mode. Wishing for an endless run mode which after a folder jump, all properties (officer, squadrons and weapons) that did not start with the run will be converted to scraps for buying customizes at the beginning of the next folder.

A fun genre mashup. A little bit of Homeworld, a little bit of XCOM, a little bit of FTL, and a pinch of Dune for flavor (come on, you play a character named “Idaho”, a bit heavy on the homage but I’ll take it). Maybe I’m a sucker for all these things, but it’s held my interest for multiple playthroughs on PC and it fits the mobile platform perfectly.

It’s OK. The story kept me engaged enough to finish on easy. But the combat is not much fun. When I was done on easy I went back to try the game on normal. Even when you get some synergy it’s just not very satisfying. The ships should not be called “battleships”, they don’t have hardly any capital ship weapons just anti fighter guns and the whole combat revolves around a rock, paper, scissors of different fighter types. The graphics would have looked great 20 years ago but I’m not a huge fan of the “hey let’s go retro for the graphics” look that is popular now. Though some of it is attractive, like seeing an enemy ship blow up and some of the artistic cutscenes. Also, long before I finished the game I was already seeing many of the same NPC stories repeatedly. The game needs: Battleship weapons More of the random story content A better combat system I will continue to try the combat on medium but it’s really not feeling fun now that the story is done.

Great game!. Very fun. I was worried things would be too small, but I have an older phone, smaller than modern ones, and had no control issues whatsoever 👍

Tutorial missing key concepts!. This game is cool, especially because as you play and re-play you unlock more buffs in the form of specialists. However, I nearly gave up because the tutorial skilled one SUPER IMPORTANT concept: upgrades. Before you change sectors, you will see a small blue bar near the upper left that says “upgrades” and from there you can add hulls, additional specialist slots, additional cannon slots, and more. This changed the game from infuriating to fun! Please developers, “upgrade” the tutorial by featuring the “upgrade” capability!

Fun, but unstable and unfinishable. Frequently crashes on scene transitions. I’ve fought the Chapter 5 cluster boss 3 times now because it always crashes on the post battle dialogue. There really needs to be a save some where between finishing that fight and the scene transition, because this fight has become tedious and I don’t want to have to do it every time when trying to trying to force myself through chapter 5’s end sequence.

Great game. Rogue-lite veteran here and this is every bit as good as games like FTL. Could definitely see putting in a lot of hours. Highly recommend. Wanted to report a bug - my game crashes when I use a parasite on a juggernaut.

Had me hooked!. It’s really well made, if a little repetitive. This is greatly mollified by the engaging story which I simply HAD to finish. Having said that, it has an overwhelmingly pessimistic outlook on life. It is apropos to the atmosphere they tried to build, and it certainly borrows from a number of books for its concepts. Overall, I recommend it!

Great space tactical game. The story was just engaging enough to keep you wanting more but the game-lay was a breath of fresh air. There are very few space tactical games and this is one of the best. The difficulty ramped up at a good pace and each run was slightly different so as to not be boring. The only time I got frustrated was at the end and more because I wanted to win than anything wrong with the game. Well worth the time and NO MICROTRANSACTIONS!

incredibly fun game 10/10. If you’ve ever wanted to play the captain in a Battlestar Galactica sim, this game’s for you! Very fun game with awesome art, cool music, deep plot, surprisingly large amount of events with meaningful choices, and action packed, edge of your seat fleet combat. High replayability — after beating the game I’m on my second run the next day.

Masterpiece. Easily one of the best games on iOS. Challenging gameplay, compelling story, fitting musical score, and unique aesthetic combine to provide a great experience. After buying the game, I (apparently) played it for about five hours per day, completing the campaign in about a week.

Great game, just one suggestion. I downloaded this game because of the App Store recommendation, and I was not let down. The visuals and story are mysterious and interesting and the music is great. I love how some elements are clearly influenced by other science fiction games/films/books such as the intro cutscene, which appears to be heavily inspired by The Matrix. The combat takes some getting used to, partially because I have not discovered a way to review old tutorials, but once you gain a basic understanding it becomes much more fluid and engaging. One suggestion: I would greatly appreciate if you make it so that you can select a ship’s target/route before it actually spawns on the battlefield? I find it annoying to have to pause the action to place the squadron, unpause to let it spawn, and then pause again to select enemy squadrons or systems.

Thoughtfully Designed Sci-fi. Crying Suns is a resource tipping-point adventure game with a tactical combat sub-theme. A lot of thought and effort went into the story, game mechanics, and art. It’s been really fun playing on an iPad. I have two criticisms that I hope will turn into improvements. First, the story is very angsty and difficult to believe. There are a few truly mature motives, and most enemies you meet want you to kill them. No one in the entire game, except perhaps its protagonist, wants to live a free and happy life, even through trouble. It must have been written by a teenager or a nerd. Second, tactical combat takes a backseat to resource extraction and purchasing. It would be more to fun play against a more complex enemy AI as long as there were a flattened reward curve for resource gathering and purchasing efficiency. The most fun part of the game was role-playing as Captain Picard, organizing away missions, conducting fleet battles, interacting with different factions, and exploring. In my opinion Crying Suns is still one of the best games available for the iPad as of 2022. Recommended.

Awesome game. I have the PC version and had to get the mobile version when it came out. Not just ship battles but other things such as encounters and planetary missions. A more detailed FTL-like experience where decisions in game have an impact.

permadeath is not my thing. this game costs a little too much to not allow me to collect all the resources for repairs and upgrades I want - then it is permanent death without the ability to go back and grind and try again if you are killed- I guess some people like austerity in games- but I want to explore and buff up-

Crashing at Elysium Cut Screen. Great game. Got to the end and it crashes every time while cutting to the Ellysium scene with Oberon (I assume). Reloading makes you fight boss again. I’ve killed the admiral dude 4 times...can’t move on. Please fix! Applied latest update and it works now! Thanks!

Similar to FTL but way better story. This is a good game with one of the best storylines I’ve had the pleasure to have finished. The gameplay style is very much like FTL (and if you don’t know what “FTL” is then educate yourself) but a bit more simple. FTL is actually better in terms of the ship-to-ship combat experience, and growth of “characters” and customization of you ship. But Suns shines and hooks you into the storyline so well you’ll find yourself hours into play and it’ll seem like little time has past at all. Well worth the cost. A good take on what our future may be after we create AI.

Needs a zoom. I would give this 5 stars it is a great game! My only complaint is being on a mobile you can not see much of the battle field . Needs a zoom feature lol

Far to repetitive. The game is somewhat simple but starts out ok. Then you find that you have basically experienced everything it has to offer in about 5 min. Everything after that repeats the same thing with a thin girl of change. There is no strategy or skill you can use to influence most of the decision points, it is just a roll of the dice. On top of that every 6 ish planets you ‘start over’ with none of your advancements retained.

Darn good game, but some annoying technical choices.. So, Crying Suns is a great game. it doesn’t have the same phenomenal writing as FTL, but I’ve been playing it a lot on my phone since FTL only supports iPad. The reason for 2 stars is because A) for some reason, they make you choose between the game audio, and podcast/music audio. Even though they give you the option of disabling the in-game music, you still can only pick one to hear. Also, and I could be wrong, but I would expect this game to run at 60fps, especially on the latest hardware, but it is locked to 30fps. If these two things were gone, this would easily be a 4-5 star game.

Crashing After Boss Fights. I really love this game. However, there are still some serious tech issues; LOTS of crashing. Most egregiously, the app has crashed three times after boss fights. What’s worse is that after it crashes, you have to replay the boss fight. This is extremely aggravating, especially considering how close — and how long — these fights were. Edit: tech support told me they fixed the bug that caused the app to crash after a certain boss fight. So, I updated the app, completed the boss fight for the fourth time, and it crashed at the same exact spot again... so, I docked another star. Fix please...

Great, but tiny text. The game is amazing, but I almost didn’t play it because of how small the text is on the phone. Please allow for an increase in text size.

Great game. Really enjoying the game so far! A couple of small requests would be to make the game playable in the upside down landscape orientation, right now its locked to only one landscape rotation, easy fix. Secondly, in combat it can be really hard to see the ships on the grid and know their type, everything is so tiny, perhaps you can allow us to zoom in and out on the battlefield with a pinch to zoom gesture, it would make things alot clearer and should feel pretty natural controls wise. But overall a fantastic game, thanks for bringing it to mobile!

Great and honest. Like a good story and some real time strategy? If so then this game is for you. They did a fine job integrating it to mobile just like their description said they did. The combat (exclusively spaceship battles) is interesting and fleshed out. You’re also consistently presented with something new whether it’s an upgrade or a story beat. I really appreciate the care put into this game. Here are some other features I liked: Beautiful visual art and animation Fun and interesting dialogue with a surprising amount of personalized characters A complex universe and society that makes progress and exploration really fun Space combat that makes you think on your feet The only problem I had was that during space combat there was always a slight chance that I’d select a wrong ship or target because of their very small size and tendency to be so close to each other during combat. But it wasn’t a huge issue. Hope you enjoy it!

Great game. Loved the game, loved the story. I played through on normal, and found it to be fairly mild. Only had a few deaths and a few really close battles. Anyway it was perfect for me, if I wanted to sweat the whole way, I guess I could have tried the hard mode.

Atmospheric fleet tactics. For some reason this game hit a spot for me. It stacks up well against other rouge lite games like FTL and others that inspired it. Making decisions as cloned admiral traveling through a collapsing empire is pretty cool. The bridge interface feels good. The tactical battles were fun once I realized it was meant to be played like a turn-based tactics game. The tactical pause creates a nice flow to the skirmishes. I’m happy that the the team that made this is releasing some new content soon. More events would also be great.

If you like being frustrated, this is your game.. There are five chapters and three sections for each chapter. As you go along you collect scrap which is used for upgrades. You also need to collect fuel which is also used for upgrades. The dumbest part of the game is that after each chapter you start the next chapter completely from scratch. You don’t have access to anything you collected besides maybe an officer (still can’t figure out how they determine that non-sense). If you die during the chapter, yep, start over from scratch. And then to top it all off, a lot of “missions” are a coin toss but good luck coming out ahead even 50% of the time. This has to be one of the lamest, most frustrating games I’ve ever played and I wish I could trade it in or at least snap the disk so no one else has to deal with my mistake. The reason it gets the one star instead of zero, is because the story is somewhat engaging. Good luck trying to get through it though.

Grimdark FTL and Star Trek. I’m really enjoying the game so far, you enjoy games like FTL you’ll likely enjoy Crying Suns. It follows the same familiar formula with some interesting twists. My only complaint is that the icons and text are pretty small and hard to read. There’s a lot of wasted space on the screen alongside some tiny text.

Really terrible. I can’t say enough bad things. Negative stars!. What game? RNG with sci-fi appropriation. Combat is the worst thing ever. It is the opposite of fun. It is the opposite of streamlined. What is opposite of both of those things?I don’t know, but it’s awkward and unpleasant and not worth $9! Every single feature of combat needs to be automated. The little ships and guns need to operate themselves once I give them commands, like: attack or defend. Choosing their tiles is busywork. I thought I paid somebody $9 to do that busywork for me but they decided I could do all that crap so here we are writing grumpy reviews. This is not better than FTL. It’s merely a slightly different style of that same not really a game. If you didn’t like FTL then you will hate this. Enjoy your $9, Humble Bundle, because it’s the last you’ll get from me. 👎👎

Wow!. • Story Engaging (No long wall text) that assault eyes like some games. Very well written, easy to follow.. deep story w/ linear conversation tree mechanic - meant to give you deeper understanding of story, by asking questions. Which you will ! • Onion layers here with the depth of... - Ship Abilities - Officer Abilities - Cool Down Abilities - Rock, Paper & Scissor Mechanics (a classic game mechanic) • Beautiful Art Work (I’m screen capping all over the place) so I can save as wall paper on my iPad Pro 12.9 • Mixture of Turn Based Tactics & Real Time Strategy. Civ 6 -meets- Rome Total War? In regards to mixing these two cadences. • Compelling, mysterious atmosphere. It will pull you. • I’m that one strange person, that could never get into FTL, and I tried. Crying Suns does not have FTL vibes to me. It’s own thing in my eyes. Crying Suns gives me XCOM vibes for whatever reason. I’m still learning this game, about 4 star visits in.. but I had to give this game a 5 star. I’ve been a NON free to play gamer for over 30 years. I know my way around the block - This is a premium gem. My only wish... in the future it receives PVP. I would love to test these tactics & strategies versus human minds!

If you enjoyed FTL, you will like this. It took a few hours to get the hang of Crying Suns, but once I knew what I was doing I was hooked. The plot is decent, not the greatest but its rare for video games to stand on the merits of storytelling alone.

Great simulator. A lot of fun to play. I love the choices and battles. Progression style very similar to FTL with random choices. Loose story but enough to hold it together to give some cohesion. Playing on an iPad Mini 5. Text and graphics are a bit small. Need slightly larger text or ideally a pinch and zoom to see more clearly. Would love to try on a bigger IPad, but this is what I have right now.

WHY DO YOU HATE MY EYES?!. This is migraine-inducing to play on any iPhone model. It’s clearly meant only for iPad displays or larger. Just look at the Krafter Interface. Everything is crammed to fit on one illegible screen, instead of using page scroll like a web browser. No way to modify any of this in the options menu either.

Really responsive Dev Team. I had an issue loading this game, and sent an email to the dev team. At 1:15am est. on a Friday Night/Saturday Morning. Got an emailed response within minutes, and they helped me out, and fixed another game that wasn’t working. Seems like a great group of Devs, and so far I’m loving this game. I’m happy they’re number 2 in the App Store for RPGs. Cheers!

Great Premium Port. I will always support developers who port great games with no IAP. This game is perfect for a quick play or longer session. The lore is fantastic and the art is amazing. My only complaint is it’s a little hard to read some of the text on iPhone, but that’s probably my eyes and not a fault of the dev.

A dark take on FTL, with RTS elements. Really love how they make you feel like a starship commander and the storyline so far, and I’ve only finished chapter 1! A few things keep it from being 5 stars. 1. The graphics feel a bit small and are sometimes hard to parse, I can’t imagine this playable on a smaller screen than 11”. Would love some kind of zoom when selecting tiles, even just a little would help a lot. I don’t need to see both ships when I’m telling my drones where to fly for example. 2. Some of the pixel art doesn’t seem to scale down right, like the terrain on surface missions looks like a mess of pixels, I tried the PC demo and they were clear there. Not sure what resolution this is running, but give us a higher resolution level for iPad pros! 2. The controls are mostly well implemented, but I can’t figure out how to cancel ship weapons without restarting their timers, and I’ve accidentally bought things in shops because I swiped too slow since there isn’t a confirm box there. Little things like that are frustrating. Overall though I recommend this game to anyone who enjoys spaceship combat, strategy, or who loved FTL. Can’t wait to play more!

Pretty... then it opens its mouth. The art direction is amazing, no question. The initial plot even sounds cool: an empire shut down overnight, nobody knows why. Then the captain of an enemy ship says something along the lines of: “That’s my momma you’re talking about.” Then a scientist tries to sell you ‘special sunglasses for seeing aliens’ while acting like a grade schooler who thinks their obvious con will work. Considering one of the main pulls of the plot is an ongoing mystery, it really calls into question how well the payoff will be. Gameplay-wise, the world map mechanic is pretty much pulled straight from FTL, right down to systems becoming hostile between jumps. For ship-to-ship combat, weapons are essentially from FTL. The deployable fighter ships are cookie-cutter RTS faire.

FTL but totally different?. I had stumbled across this after getting crying suns for free on pc, hearing it was similar to FTL, one of my favorite games. It has many influences of FTL, but it’s an entirely different game with a lot more depth and complexity. That is both good and bad. FTL was so simple to learn but hard to master, and this one has a lot more going on with it so there’s more to learn initially before you start to really understand what’s going on. That being said, if you liked FTL and you like sci-fi you really need to check this game out. Worth it!

Amazing. You don’t find a game like this very often. The attention to detail in this title shows a true love for all things geek. The dev team are both Fans and creators. Fans first I think. Bravo on creating one of the best games I’ve played all year.

Extremely repetitive. Finished the game after 6 hours - graphics are amazing and story is good overall. However the game becomes extremely repetitive for the following reasons: 1. The ground exploration is basically selecting a commander and watching your team explore for 2-3 min. It’s the same thing repeated 50x throughout the game. 2. The story, while good, doesn’t follow the show not tell rule. Dialogue is extremely dense and makes me want to skip it. 3. Each time you navigate to a planet there is a random event. The problem is there are only 50 events in total, so you see the same events over and over again even in the same run. 4. The combat is the best part of the game. However even that becomes repetitive after awhile and my iPhone X screen is too tiny to see the nav elements. Overall, this is not worth paying full price for and it was a slog to get to the end. A shame too because the graphics, sound, etc are great.

Great game. The storyline and gameplay in this game is great. Well worth the 9 dollars it costs. I only have 2 main issues with this game. First, it has some minor tech issues which include my phone getting pretty hot and also occasional random frame drops, the second is the fact that I quickly figured out who was behind the shutdown, but couldn’t progress to them and instead had to go thru all the different sectors. However don’t let that stop you from getting this game as the story is incredible and makes the game get y hard to put down. Overall 9/10

Great Game but Large Issue. This game has really good writing and a very solid basic concept Unfortunately however, I am unable to continue playing because I have no other stars to jump to. Made it to first planet and finished first expedition. Went to star map and literally the only jumps are “Entrance” (which I checked just in case) and the star I was currently at, making it impossible to progress the game. Quite a serious issue considering the price tag and the fact that I could only enjoy about 15 - 30 minutes of play I’ll restart the run to see if it occurs again but this is proof the bug exists. Dev team seems very responsive so will be changing rating when issue is fixed *Edit: Restarting the run seems to have fixed it. Now have access to 10+ jumps

Incredible. Great storyline and fun gameplay, they have a time constraint to keep the game moving in one direction. Storyline is very well thought out and a blast to play. Fight sequences were unusual initially, but I really like them now.

Post update fix-. Once the opening bug was fixed I’m hooked. Really great rogue game. If you enjoyed FTL and DOTE you will like this. All around a really well done piece. A couple of notes: 🪐 there is a lot of info regarding the ships stations and options at the outset. A small info icon to have a re-explanation during battles would be nice for players. I’ve tried reading the info about the ships hill for instance but I’m still not 100% sure how the damage system works. 🪐much of the npc dialogue feels like it’s being acted out by the same personality. Not much diversity of language (of course it’s a game not a novel) 🪐having crashes when I select to start a planetary away party and other various moments in game 🪐would be nice to have a lore section. The story is very interesting and makes me want to explore more in it. I hope another game in this universe gets developed.

FTL meets an elaborate sci-fi novel.. This game is great. Highlights are the excellent soundtrack, the hex-based combat system, and a story that’s engaging and especially elaborate for a strategy game. The advanced tactics update makes it even better. I own the game on steam, and I own the game on iOS (playing the game on iPad Pro 12.9’’). I highly recommend the iOS version, as the controls are very intuitive. Looking forward to experiencing everything that there is to do, and also, a sequel. No reason not to grab this game.

Worth it!. This game is really fun! The battle AI is really well-designed. Playing through on normal mode is just hard enough to be a fun challenge and just easy enough to not be frustrating. The story Is decent with a well thought out realistic ending.

Keeps crashing. This app simply won’t load. UPDATE: I’ve changed my rating from 1 to 5 stars as the game is now running well. And it’s awesome, just the kind of expansive sci-fi game I’ve been looking for. Enthralling story. Still learning the controls and gameplay but they’re fairly intuitive. Excellent!

Fantastic!!!. I bought this to have something new to play while I was at home on vacation, and man, oh man.....I’ve had this game not even two days, and I’ve dropped HOURS into it. I’m not always a big fan of this genre of game (rouge-lites), but the reviews online kept telling me that I needed to give it a chance. I’m glad I listened. This game is well worth the price. Pick it up, spend hours with it, enjoy it, die, and get excited to play “just one more game”. Rinse and repeat. You won’t regret it.

Good. Enjoy the game. Challenging yet rewarding. After this most recent update however I have been experiencing game crashes and a reset to the previous thing I accomplished.... sadly this has happened twice in “through the looking glass” on the acts final boss. Please look into this....

The perfect blend. FTL with a story, that runs neatly and quickly on a phone, with huge amounts of character and replayability? Amazing

A game that won’t make me wanted to play for long time. Great quality, but it lack something, maybe a soul, this is a game that i played for 36 hour and decided to let go and never come back, it was fun at first, then it’s kinda pointless, where is the attractiveness or something to possess? Reached chapter 3 and I decided that’s enough, this is a game that not worthy to keep. Good bye.

Intriguing storyline with great replay ability and strategy. Amazing game, really happy with the purchase, especially on my new iPad Pro, it’s a great game. Looking forward to the updates and hopefully the big steam update for PC comes to iOS soon. Developers seem active.

Awesome Space Game. Really awesome space game, feels a little repetitive after a while but the story helps to fix that. The only issue is the constant crashing, don’t seem to lose much progress if any but it is annoying. Another thing would be to make a sandbox mode where you can multiple battleships otherwise the game is just too boring and too easy.

A Solid game. Command battleship and manage resources to progress.

Very enjoyable. Great game for the phone. Easy to pick up and play. In-depth gameplay, challenging, and engaging story. Could use a zoom feature.

Great game!. Loved all of it - hope to see more!

Please add a endless mode. This is a really good game it’s just can you add a endless mode.

Fun and not too complex. Fun game! Liking the narrative, music, overall aesthetic/mood. Tactical combat is refreshingly not too complex, but badly needs a zoom feature. Hard to tell unit type and to select units on smaller screens like iPhone.

Ok.. Just. Awesome.

Great game.. Excellent story. Still quite a bit of dialogue repetition but doesn’t ruin the enjoyment. A sequel would be cool. 😎

Game keeps crashing. Fun little game but it just keeps crashing in mid battle. Very annoying. Especially when you’re in a boss fight and have to do it all over again.

Literally FTL but better. Great story, dynamic gameplay, everything is perfect!

Crashing. Please it keeps crashing after finishing the final dialog at the end of chapter 4, I’m completely stuck

No in app purchases!. The draw for me was no in-app purchases or spam to buy more “currencies”. After downloading, action was nearly instant. Not typical as far as games in this genre go, it’s turn based with the ability to PAUSE during space battles. A neat feature is the “anomaly” aspect with random events that have a positive or negative effect, sometimes that choice we think is good… was a baaaaad idea. It’s an awesome twist to gameplay!. Ships are upgradeable in many ways, with better ships unlocked through simple gameplay. The main currency isn’t hard to come by… and I’ve said too much already. It’s worth the money!!!

I love this game.. Almost a perfect port. I’m a big fan on the pc but think it also translates very well to the phone. I just with that some of the UI commands didn’t have to be so repetitive. Like when you are deploying a ship, you cold slid out the ship selection screen on the left and place each ship without having to reopen the menu every time after it closes automatically. Still think it’s great, I still Will always love humble.

Everything I was hoping for in an iOS game. Speaking as a dad, who can only game on iOS devices - this game hits on every aspect of gaming I’ve been looking for and haven’t found in a long time. The story is bang on - with tons of references to multiple space operas, the game play is fun, with a very intuitive interface, and ability to learn as you go (provided you’re willing to read), and stunning design. I don’t typically leave reviews - but this game deserves it.

Gameplay Issues. Core game is fun and interesting, but I keep crashing when I beat the Chapter1 boss. I’ve paid for the game, I shouldn’t have to ask for it to work as advertised.

Fantastic game. Took a bit longer to grow on me than I expected but when it did ... wow! Totally worth the time and effort

Great experience with some crashes. Unique combination of familiar story and mechanics. FTL vibes for sure. Love what I’ve played so far, 4 hours in. Every fifth combat or so the game hard crashes (though luckily the cloud save is intact up to the start of that fight). Playing in May 2023 on iPhone 12.

Thousands of hours into this style of game.. Crying Stars tries to take FTL to the next level and succeeds in many places. Parts still feel awkward. There are bugs still in this game, and occasional crashes on an ipad mini 6th gen. I also found the ending unsatisfying but that could be just me. Certainly great value for the price and perhaps I will get more out of it on harder difficulty settings.

The best game on the App Store.. Excellent performance, fun gameplay, very well written dialogue and storytelling, beautiful visuals/pixel art, and it doesn’t kill your battery!! It’s also pretty cheap compared to the console/pc versions.

Yes this is what you’re looking for!. Very good story, thousands of decision and RNG is phenomenal. Please add more content. I have so many ideas.

A great game that crashes. As per the title…it’s an awesome experience but the battles with a lot of units make it crash. Currently unplayable in my library… it has crashed in the same spot 4 times in a row

This game was everything. I wanted real time strategy, I got it. I wanted resource management, yep! I wanted my decisions to have consequences, got that too. Seriously be prepared to spend hours with this game.

Excellent BUT CRASHES. I’ve tried everything on chapter 4, cluster 3, and no combination of actions/ inactions, prevents a crash somewhere in the battle.

Worth it!. This game is really fun! The battle AI is really well-designed. Playing through on normal mode is just hard enough to be a fun challenge and just easy enough to not be frustrating. The story Is decent with a well thought out realistic ending.

permadeath is not my thing. this game costs a little too much to not allow me to collect all the resources for repairs and upgrades I want - then it is permanent death without the ability to go back and grind and try again if you are killed- I guess some people like austerity in games- but I want to explore and buff up-

Buy Now. This game deserves more praise. So well thought out, and sleek design/graphics. Honestly can’t speak highly enough about this game. If you are a fan of FTL you will love this game.

Good. Enjoy the game. Challenging yet rewarding. After this most recent update however I have been experiencing game crashes and a reset to the previous thing I accomplished.... sadly this has happened twice in “through the looking glass” on the acts final boss. Please look into this....

Great indie title. Lots of atmosphere.. It’s in the title. Support indie games! Seriously, this is a great example of what the indie movement can do. …or go buy a loot box to play a generic AAA time waster. Your choice.

UX issues make it unusable. Did anyone test this on an iPhone 12 Pro Max? First of all, the text is so small and the font so poor that I can barely see it even with reading glasses. But, even worse, I’m stuck at the beginning because the button to “close map” is under the iOS close app bar that appears on the bottom of the screen.

Crashes. It’s a lovely game except for the frequent crashes. I cannot proceed past a certain point in the story. If it worked, it would be 5 stars for me.

Incredible game. Perfect game. Loved every minute—deep, engaging, mature story, excellent gameplay, and just the right amount of challenge and narrative. The final act was thought provoking and will stick with me for quite a while. Works beautifully on an iPad Pro.

Good concept, horrible UX. This game is great, but the UX is impossible. Everything is backwards from how normal UI works. Long tap irreversibly turns things off, losing you the battle. Sometimes you enter into command giving mode that’s impossible to cancel out of. No idea what they were thinking - the controls make the game unplayable.

Great!!!. Really enjoying this game. Playing on iPhone 8. Sure it’s a little small but not an issue like others have stated.

Excellent replayability!. This game is great, balancing difficulty really well so I was always challenged, but also just needed to play one more level. Excellent combat, gratifying wins. Played through several times.

Great game. I like the game, but there’s one bug where my Omni just isn’t present on my screen. I have to re-open the game again sometimes to fix it.

Fun game, but most recent version keeps crashing!. Great game except for the fact it keeps crashing during battles. Really annoying to have to keep replaying certain battles. Please fix this buggy version!

Looks nice but doesn’t tell you how to play. Downloaded the game. First battle. The game goes through officer deployments. I follow the game’s orders. Battle starts. Enemy sends a squadron. My battleship does nothing. I can’t make it attack. I can’t send squadrons. There’s no button that allows me to do anything. I have no time for confusing games that don’t explain themselves. I’ll pretend that I threw away $8.99 in the trash. Uninstalling now.

Great. Excellent story and world building with satisfying game play. It takes the FTL formula and builds on it in really creative ways. Highly recommended.

Crashes!. Needs some work with the frequencies of crashes! I’m stuck on chapter 3 sector 2/3 because after the dialogue from beating the boss it crashes on the same part everytime and restarts the dialogue

If you enjoyed FTL, you will like this. It took a few hours to get the hang of Crying Suns, but once I knew what I was doing I was hooked. The plot is decent, not the greatest but its rare for video games to stand on the merits of storytelling alone.

Music and crashes. The game is amazing but the only problem is that there are some crashes sometimes and the game won’t let me play my own music during the game

Stunning. It’s really incredible art work of this caliber has come to an iPad game and it truly looks incredible on the iPad pro. Game mechanics and choices are overwhelming in the beginning but becomes quite fun

Worth it. I was hesitant to spend this much money on a time killer, but man am I hooked. This scratches my space rogue like itch. FTL and elements of Star Chindy, if any of you have seen that one. Worth every penny. Can’t wait to see what else these guys can do!

Drudgery. I give it two because it kept me engaged enough to finish the story, but I was bored with the gameplay at about chapter 2. A lot of luck. Combat is repetitive and boring. I am never going to play it again. Exploring the brief alternative pixelated optional endings aren’t enough for me to boot up again.

A beautiful labor of love. Primarily hampered by a relatively short game loop, and a combat system that feels like it has one too few dimensions. That being said, this is 100% worth picking up for fans of FTL.

Great game, great story. The game is different each time you play it. It has great options, with a captivating sorry line. Kind of a cross between the Matrix and Dune.

Great game, terrible bug. I love this game. But when I beat the last boss, and the cutscene moves to the planet, my iPad crashes every time. I can’t complete the story, know the ending, or unlock the final ship! So much time (and fun) invested for such a disappointing consistent crash at the end.

Great for both PC and Mobile 👍🏽🤩. I played on PC and now I am planning on the mobile version now I can play my favorite game on the go instead of waiting to come back home on my PC.

Incredible. Great storyline and fun gameplay, they have a time constraint to keep the game moving in one direction. Storyline is very well thought out and a blast to play. Fight sequences were unusual initially, but I really like them now.

Crashing. I played this game on steam and it was pretty neat. However I keep crashing in combat, usually when utilizing 3 attacks at once when fighting a battleship

Great, but tiny text. The game is amazing, but I almost didn’t play it because of how small the text is on the phone. Please allow for an increase in text size.

Back in mobile!. I played this game into the ground on PC, and had to jump back in on mobile. No regrets!

Great game. Rogue-lite veteran here and this is every bit as good as games like FTL. Could definitely see putting in a lot of hours. Highly recommend. Wanted to report a bug - my game crashes when I use a parasite on a juggernaut.

Best Mobile Game Ever. Good tactical and strategy game with a well-told story that ruminates on our growing dependence on technology and speculates on what the singularity might be like. Striking pixel art design. Stunning all around.

Well made game and worth it. Many things are happening along the way which is really what makes this game addictive and wanting to play some more. Awesome game

Crashes. It’s a great game with a great story but I can’t get passed the final part without it crashing, I’ve uninstalled it and re downloaded it and it keeps happening. I really want to finish it but this bug is making it literally impossible.

incredibly fun game 10/10.

Definitely worth it. Just picked this up and been playing it for an hour. Definitely a great mix of rogue, RTS, FTL, and strategy games all in one package. Highly recommend!

Best game. If you like pixel games and strategy games then this is best game. I love this I played this nonstop the art style is great the game play is great and this is one of the best games I have found in a while. Keep it up 👍🏻

Issue logging in. I can’t get past the humble bundle title screen. Changed my review score the fix provided worked.

Needs a zoom. I would give this 5 stars it is a great game! My only complaint is being on a mobile you can not see much of the battle field . Needs a zoom feature lol

Awesome game. I have the PC version and had to get the mobile version when it came out. Not just ship battles but other things such as encounters and planetary missions. A more detailed FTL-like experience where decisions in game have an impact.

Great. Been a gamer for more decades than you would believe. Never write a review. Great combination of RPG, story, resource management and TBS. Love it. Please give us more. I’d be happy to pay for more. Thanks devs.

Thanks!

Amazing!. A better version of FTL in my opinion. I enjoyed the story a great deal. If you’re thinking of buying it don’t. Totally worth the money and lost sleep from playing it

Doesn’t sync with PC version. Spoke with developers nearly a year ago, they said they are looking to make the IOS and PC versions to sync, so far nope. Graphics are pretty low Rez, virtually no live action/interactive video, yet uses the video processor to full extent drastically reducing battery life, why? No achievement goals to attain.
