Excellent but needs repeat. Great app, supports FLAC when locally connected, great visualizer, and clean. It NEEEEEEDS a repeat option though. It is an insanely simple option to add to bring it in line with every other music player available (aside for dumb streaming “radio” apps that don’t let you do anything but skip forward). These are my files and I should be able to listen to them EXACTLY how I want to, and if that means listening to one album or one song over and over, then so be it. Especially since I have a 6 year old son and often times it’s him that wants a single song over and over. I can’t do it with Plexamp. It is the only reason I take off a star and the only reason I don’t use this app exclusively on every platform. Because I can’t be bothered to look down 6 times to start the song over when I’m driving him to swim lessons, it’s not safe. It would be utterly perfect with a repeat option. It is astounding they haven’t added it yet or why it would EVER be left out in the first place. Please fix it and you’ll get 5 stars. 10 stars! 100!

Not easy to navigate offline. I like the concept of the app to separate the music from the rest of plex but I’m not happy with the interface and search capabilities when in offline mode. You have to be in download tab to play download music and can only scroll. Still using plex mobile app for now until this is in a better place. Was hoping it was the next iPod but not quite there yet. Thank you for getting this to where it is right now though.

Pretty good so far, but is missing some essential features.. I really like all the options this app offers and the discovery features. It is missing the ability to view all artists or albums on my server. I get the app is focused on discovery, but that could at least be a setting. Casting and lyrics also don’t appear to be options yet. It would also be nice if podcasts integrated into the main page if I wanted without needing to switch sources becuase I use Plex for all my podcasts and most of my music and switching is more of a hassle in this app than the main Plex app. I appreciate the bitrate options, crossfade, eq, etc.. It just seems like those features above are near essential and missing at this point. Most are found in the main Plex app as well. There’s a good thread on the Plex subreddit that goes over people’s likes and dislikes with the app so far too.

Decent but needs tweaks. Similar to when I use plex to play music from the default app or on the TV it needs to have a repeat all or repeat single button, and it needs to remember your setting even if you close the app. It drives me nuts having to always turn it back on every time I would launch the normal Plex app. By default I think the preamp, loudness equalization, clipping help features should be turned off by default and we can go in and tweak those. I’d love the ability to edit the home to remove things like the radio and such. Last but not least once I select the album and it’s showing me the songs on said album I don’t want to have to click a song and then click play to play the song, just immediately play when I click it, no need to confirm what I’d like to do. Not trying to bash on what has been done here. I love seeing Plex take this new step with a dedicated music app. Been a Plex user for about 8 years and it has made media playback in the home so incredibly simple and I cannot praise that enough. Keep up the amazing work guys.

Awesome App. I absolutely love this app. Thank you Plex for making an amazing way to listen to music! The interface is absolutely stunning and easy to use. I've not once had any buffering issues or latency problems no matter if I'm at home or hundreds of miles away from home. If your worried about large music libraries, my library of 5,000 songs in many different formats plays just fine. My only thing negative I have to say is that sometimes album art is missing. I would love to see a way on this app to manage album covers or a way to pull them from an online sourcr.

Plexamp is GREAT!. Plexamp is a companion app to the Plex ecosystem of that specializes on your personal music library that you have stored on your Plex Media Server. With Plex partnering with key metadata companies, your personal collection of music and movies is curated to look like that of the mainstream streaming companies. Plexamp allows your personal library of music to be handled for you or by you. Offline downloads allow your playlists to be accessible when out of reach. Fantastic features like sweet fades, volume leveling, and Sonic Analysis make your playlists be better and sound better. Anyone who enjoys managing and listening to their own collection should seriously consider putting Plexamp on their radar.

Almost perfect.. A few little details are annoying me. 1) When I select a track from a list, it focuses on the track. I want the option to keep the whole playlist in focus. 2) It seems I can only choose one source at a time. I have two network shares on my server, each with a different kind of library. I can’t browse them both at the same time. My use is quite niche. I record a ton a music and need to hear it on the go. I use Plex server to access my work on remote server. PlexAmp gives me a key feature I need for writing songs to short loops…gapless audio. Thanks so much!

It just works. Also, it’s ridiculously beautiful.. I’ve been an on-and-off Plex user for years, but this app might just keep me here for good. The app works just as promised, and it’s one of the most beautiful iOS apps I’ve ever seen, to boot. I love the customization features. It would be nice to have icon options like the regular Plex app, and to be able to turn off some features, like Moods, lyrics, and showing record labels, which just kinda get in my way. Regardless, this is now my daily driver for playing ALAC and FLAC files, and I don’t imagine I’ll find a reason to switch any time soon.

Needs improvement. 4 stars for being able to real-time covert FLAC to Opus. However the UI really needs some work. Having two columns for “back to” and “up next” is really cumbersome. There should just be one scrollable list for the current playlist. There also needs to be a way to integrate downloads into the normal interface instead of just being its own tab. I should be able to browse by artist and album for downloads only. The reason I rely on downloads so much is that there’s not good service during my commute so I need to select only downloaded music for listening. Having to scroll all my albums and playlists in a non-sortable manner is not helpful. When I synced music to my phone using iTunes I could do this but not with Plexamp.

From good to great. I’ve been using Plexamp for years now, as my primary (at this point, only) music app. It’s always been a pretty great way to stream my FLAC library to all my devices. Over the years, the app has become even better, with interface and performance improvements, and additional playback quality settings that have made this audiophile quite happy! The devs have been great and responsive, and I have no hesitation paying my monthly plex pass to help support their work.

Great so far... Only needs minor tweaks.. Longtime and enthusiastic Plex user. Great to have a dedicated app for the music on my Plex server. The main Plex app always seemed like overkill when I just want to play a few songs quickly. I buy a ton of indie and underground music directly from the artists, and I have a lot of personally created music, and Plex is the only way to manage it all properly, with a beautiful interface, and in one place. I am also fed up with having 9000 streaming subscriptions, so Plex & Plexamp is the solution for me. I really like that Plexamp starts the music instantly, and the interface makes it simple and efficient to get right to what I want to play. The one thing I'd like to see added is skip-ahead" buttons. Besides that, I have no complaints. Love Plex.

Great stuff. This player is looking good af. Would like to see a libraries tab where I can more easily see all of my playlist right away and select them faster. It would be great to see the downloads being able to be sorted by artist, album, name, etc. I would also like the option to select an artist to download all of their music, right now I can only download one album at a time. But this is still great to see. The player looks modern and simple. I love that I can finally use an equalizer with Plex. I also love the ability to manually select the preamp. The ability to choose my caching on cellular and wifi is fantastic. And btw the limiter is great to see. Keep up the hard work, been a supporter for a while.

Overall very good. It’s a strong streaming platform. Possibly a bit over focused on outside subscription sources, but very solid. Use it everyday. I can’t stream to my devices outside of Wi-Fi because my internet provider doesn’t allow bridging. So I need to download content to my device. It will work for a while then something will cause it to not be able to read the downloaded content and it requires me to resync all content again. Doesn’t seem to get resolved so I assume it’s not a priority for PlexAmp team. Why can’t downloads be better integrated into the app? Why does it require its own tab with only list mode? All questions that can’t be answered. Still good. Just irritatingly so.

Getting there. It's great to have a dedicated music app for Plex instead of using the "regular" Plex app and navigating through everything on my server. As a lot of others have mentioned, viewing by artist or albums directly would be great (or will be when the add that feature -Hey guys, if you're reading this, why not add the Recent Artist > other sort method to the description to save all the replies I'm sure you're pasting into the reviews at this point). I'd like a quicker way to switch between libraries as I've set up separate ones for Music and Audiobooks. It took a bit to find that, not a lot but some. All in all looking forward to testing it out more as watching out for updates and refinements. This would Ave been 4 1/2 stars if that were possible simply because it's not quite perfect but darn good.

Fantastic start!. Update: latest update added a section for you to go through all your artist, tracks, albums, etc, and gave alphabetical side scrolling!!! As I’ve used the app I’ve noticed when trying to not use any data, the app can act real weird. For instance if you turn of cellular data access to the app, and if you go off WiFi, you cannot scroll through any of your music. You can only shuffle the playlists you have downloaded, and you cannot scroll through those song’s, only play them. Please let us scroll through our music offline if we have downloaded the music. Also please let us download our library easier. Had to make 4 playlists and download them separately in order to get whole library downloaded. Not ideal. It would also be nice to set the new library page as your default when opening the app. Love it’s functionality and ability to adjust eq on an iOS device. Though I would really enjoy being able to adjust shuffle and repeat on the fly, just like every music app does. This on its own is why I can’t give it 5 stars. Also would be nice for the “All Music” option at the top to be a little bigger for easier selection.

Almost perfect. As somebody who has a fairly large digital collection of lossless audio files, I prefer to transfer these to my mobile device and listen to them on the go. Apple has restrictions loading local music onto your and iOS device outside of using the iTunes application, which is a pretty awful experience, especially on Windows platforms. This is where PlexAmp comes into the picture. PlexAmp allows you to do exactly what you think, which is transfer fully lossless audio files to your device (hosted from your Plex server), and listen to them on the go. It works pretty seamlessly. I had to deduct a star from this rating, however, because downloaded files do not have the same organizational system as those hosted on your personal Plex server or the standard Plex iOS application. This makes scrolling through a large, downloaded collection pretty tedious and cumbersome, as there is no way to filter for artists or albums, and the albums can sometimes be sorted in an incorrect order.

Just about perfect. In my quest to finally untether myself from iTunes and the native iOS Music app, I think Plexamp just about covers all of my needs: nice-looking UI, searchable titles, reliable playback, and (here’s the big one) on-the-fly conversion of lossless to mp3 for downloads. There is one teensy critique I have regarding downloaded content: When you tap on an album from the downloads tab, it instantly starts playing the album instead of showing the track list. In order to see the song titles, you have to play the album and then click on the queue. It’s a minor quibble, but it always throws me a bit since just about every other music app shows the song titles first.

So good. I’m rediscovering my music and loving it! Recently my player keeps stopping or doesn’t play music from the library. I am able to see the library okay but playback is inconsistent. These issue just started recently. Possibly an issue with the last update? Thanks for the reply! Everything seems to be working back to normal. Love the app! There is nothing else like it! I would recommend Plex Amp to anyone with their own physical music collection that want to take it with them anywhere!

Waited 20 years for something like this!. I’m an avid music listener and part time music producer and can say without a shadow of a doubt that this app makes it tremendously easier and convenient to store, share and play all my music from any of my iOS devices! I am finally back in control of my music library like in the old iPod days. The new era of music steaming services is destroying our ability to chose how we want to purchase and experience music in our terms. This app gives you that control back in your hands. Personally, I still and always will prefer to OWN a copy of the music I want to listen to so I will still buy CDs (sometimes digital downloads as well with no DRM) so that I can listen to it whenever and however I chose. Monthly subscriptions to music just don’t make sense to me the way I like to experience music. All the music I have purchased since high school, which I still have, is in my music library and continues to grow over time as I see fit. Make no mistake, this is the future of music, not streaming . Don’t let corporations tell you how to consume music. You have the final say in that.

Revisited. I reviewed this app 9 months to a year ago and gave it one star. My issue was navigating the app. It was awful. Still think it is. I’m not a fan of “swiping”. I know it’s the trend these days. I’m 70 years old. Not a millennial or “ genZ” So this may be generational. I decided to take another look at it and force myself through the swiping. Wow this app is awesome! There is nothing missing that I could possibly want (except for the navigation). My only suggestion would be to place a “dock, system tray, task manager” whatever you choose to call it at the bottom of every screen.

Excellent start!!. Thanks to everyone to actually put in effort and time to bring this app!! Kudos.. love the UI, Ultrablur, theme options, everything is buttery.. Like everyone here’s my wishlist and hopefully happens in next few versions: - AirPlay, casting - Carplay - Ability to view my entire album collection - On the go playlist is - Limiting to 40 tracks..why? What if my favorite artist has 100s of songs? I should be able to create my own playlist without any track Limit Keep up the good work team and do keep us updated on features release - not the usual coming soon!! Thanks again!!! Update: Thanks for quick response.. I do see all albums under all music (thanks is for the tip), but we need more sort options, title alphabetical for example. On another question on limit.. when I search for an artist under main page search function, it only gives limited number of tracks for that artist even though I have plenty other tracks for same artist.. BIG THANKS AGAIN for being so quick in your responses!!

Yes!!!!. This is the update I have been waiting for! Love that we can skip custom -/+ now. Fixed the bug when have over 200k items in your library TY!! And plenty of other great updates, enhancements and fixes. Definitely update its amazing! You’d think with so many changes there might be issues but it’s working just as reliably as one would expect from plexamp. Keep up the good work, devs, excellent update! Future consideration: adding bookmark or way to remember past listening point for files. Some long podcasts and audiobooks can be a real pain to go back to if I listen to something else in between.

Amazing app for self-hosting folks, get a PlexPass!. All I can say is WOW. I’m a long time Plex user, (since about 2010) and I have also had a Lifetime PlexPass for about as long. I also host a fairly beefy Plex server. Been using PlexAmp for a long time now, first on PC, then I was super excited to see an iOS version come out. Then Plex shocked me yet again, and added all the sonic features to the PlexAmp app. It was a game changer. I have basically forgone any streaming services, and now just stream my already massive mp3 collection. PlexAmp does a great job of matching music (with the help of the new sonic features). I have had days where I haven’t had to touch the “next” button at all. It finds similar music, plays it on its own, and you can tweak how similar or dissimilar you want the playlist to be. It’s easy, it’s powerful, and it just works. Also love the caching and buffering, prior releases made it hard to drive around town, in and out of cell service. The app does a great job of caching and I have little to no issues while driving through dead zones. The app is polished and well made. Totally worth the investment in a PlexPass if you don’t already have it. Give Plex some love, it’s not that expensive and it’s totally worth it. As always, thanks Plex and please keep coming out with features for us self-hosters. We are loving it!

FINALLY. I’ve wanted an app like this for years. The UX on the main app was not designed with music in mind first, especially on web. The music experience (and especially audiobook experience) has been so bad for so long I actually resolved to make my own open source react native client. I had put about 10 hours into the project this week when Plexamp was released. The UI is still a little rough around the edges. But it’s satisfactory and understandable for a v1. I’m very optimistic for the future of plexamp. Hopefully this continues to be developed and isn’t sentenced to death by Plex execs.

Airiplay woes. There’s a lot to like about Plexamp but it gets a major failure for not working reliably with airplay on some networks. If you have a network with multiple wifi access points then you may experience dropouts (and perhaps total audio loss) as your mobile device moves from one access point to another). You can fix this if your access points allow you to turn on fast roaming but some devices may not work with this setting (and if you don’t have admin control of the network then you are out of luck). Other apps have no airplay troubles when fast roaming is off (such as Overcast,Prism Music and Apple Music) which is why I’m giving Plexamp a ding on its rating. If it weren’t for this it might be the closes thing to a perfect music app that I’ve used.

Apple Watch support would be nice. A great way to listen to a personal music collection without the hassle of having to upload to iTunes or download to your device. It keeps device storage free for other apps, photos or whatever while giving access to a personal music streaming service. Easy to setup and integrate files on a computer to stream anywhere internet access is available. When internet is not available options to download content are available. It would be nice to get an app for Apple Watch. All users could use an Apple Watch app in a Wi-Fi capable area and for those with data plans anywhere service is available.

Probably good for smaller collections, but a buggy mess regardless. I've been looking to move away from Apple Music and the 100k song limit that comes with the iCloud Music Library, and thought this was the solution: access to my whole library with the option to download for offline listening. What I didn't realize, however, is that trying to access downloaded music on this app when internet is spotty (like commuting on the subway) was basically impossible, so the app is worthless in that regard. I thought this might improve by springing for a Plex Pass, but no dice. To make matters worse, functionality the app around my home (either on WiFi or cellular data) has cratered into unusability: search function is completely broken in that nothing I type yields any result - it may register the first letter I enter, but that's it. Trying to navigate back to my library results into a molasses-like slowdown before the app finally crashes. I started out very excited to use Plexamp, and it even worked for a couple of days before becoming mired in an impregnable swamp of frustration. Maybe I'm doing it wrong, maybe it only works on the latest phones - I wish I knew, because I really don't want to go back to Apple Music.

Great app, just what PLEX needed for the music fan. I had lots of problems getting Plexamp to connect to my server at first. I am a network engineer so my home network is a bit more complex than your average home LAN. My PLEX server and iDevices are on two different subnets, and for the longest time Plexamp refused to connect to the server, even though the regular PLEX app worked fine. Thanks to the helpful response I got here after leaving a 1-star review, I was able to get Plexamp working simply by changing my server settings. If you’re having problems, try changing the secure connection setting on your server from “Required” to “Preferred.” Annoying that such a seemingly unrelated setting makes or breaks it, so Plexamp loses 1 star for that. Otherwise, so far, so good!

Close to perfect. I was in love with Google Play Music for years and it was central to my daily life as a way to listen to my music collection across all my devices and on the go. When it closed up shop last year, I spent a long time researching my options for a replacement. I settled on Plex and the Plexamp app as my choice and have found it to be great, far better than GPM was in terms of visual UI and sound quality. However, there are a few features that don’t quite fit the high standard that the product sets in most ways. Other reviews here have mentioned the lack of repeat functionality, but I want to point out the big need for improvements in the equalizer. As I listen across multiple systems, it is necessary to use eq to get consistent sound. The eq doesn’t have presets or allow saved settings or profiles meaning that I have to manually set the eq points each time I switch systems. This seems primitive compared to the rest of the app. Hopefully this can be improved.

Lots of potential, keep it up!. This app has some great potential. I love how users can customize many aspects to suit their needs. Including an equalizer which I haven’t played with yet. A couple downsides are downloads seem to be an issue - very slow even if you set the quality to the lowest setting, it won’t download in the background which is very annoying since it’s so slow, and the one album I downloaded won’t open a track list in the “downloads” tab, it just starts playing. Downloads definitely need some work. On the positive side I love the CarPlay connectivity, only thing I would love to see added is a way to easily navigate back to whatever you’re currently playing in Plexamp when you turn the car back on, right now I have to navigate back there in the phone app. Overall though it’s a great concept and if they keep working on it I think it could be amazing.

Halfway there. App runs incredibly smoothly, sound quality is fantastic, GUI is beautiful. The lack of a traditional library browser keeps this from replacing DS Audio. This is a problem with the Plex server as well: sorting/navigating by decade, genre, then album artist, and artist are not customizable enough. Plexamp completely lacks sorting/navigating by genre, artist, or decade and instead it’s just a list of all of your library’s albums. It’s unnavigable with larger libraries. The search function is not a replacement for traditional browsing. A robust, customizable library browser (think Music Bee) would make this a killer app.

Almost perfect. There are few things that drive me crazy but overall it’s a good music player. 1. Offline playlist. After an extensive search I found the slider to change the amount of music I want to download for offline playback. I kept ignoring that slider - I thought it was for volume control. Well now I increase the time and hit download but it keeps telling me the playlist has already been downloaded. This is not true only a portion was downloaded. When I check the slider bar it keeps going back to the original one hour download not the longer time I just changed it to. 2. CarPlay. Only something around 10 albums show up in my downloaded list but I have at least twice that amount downloaded on my phone. I’ve tried everything I could think of to get the rest to show up. Nothing worked. I see from your response that this is a CarPlay issue. Thanks for letting me know that. 3. I wish things like long album titles would scroll so you can read the entire album title and not have it cut off once a certain amount of characters have been used. Yes for number three I mean for the app on my iPhone. I have a number of album titles with similar names and only the very end of the album name is different but there is no way to see that full album name in the iOS app. Thanks for your response!

Great on device can be better in CarPlay. When your on your device is functions as expected and is a really sold streaming app. But my biggest problem is in CarPlay. When I go into the library tab it gives you a list A-Z for the artist you want, then it gives a list of all the artists in that letter, then it gives you the albums the artist made, then the songs in the album and finally plays your music. I think it has too many pages to navigate in the car and can be dangerous if you are trying to quickly change the song from a different album. There are more assessable lists like the just added list which is a lot better but I would like to see a list of just the albums in an easier spot.

Good. Not great. Library requires pull down refresh to load. Seems like a bug. The “Playlist” view is ridiculously stupid. If you’re listening to a long playlist, and you want to see what’s in that playlist, get ready for stupidity. Instead of the app just showing the whole list, where your current song is, and what is next in order all on one screen, you have to get all this information from various tabs. The “Back To” tab show what just played, but in reverse order with the most recent song at the top. The “Up Next” tab shows the coming songs in the list in the opposite, descending, order, but not all of them. So you can never see all the songs in your playlist in the order in which they are played. Please fix this silliness.

Dope.. Dope. Easy to use but mad flexible. Is there a way to create smart playlists based on star rating using the iPhone app and not just on the Plex server? Developer response: "Yes, you can. Use the filter action on a library screen in Plexamp (artists, albums, tracks) and choose the Rating rule under tracks. Then select the add button and create a new playlist with the rule. " My response: It works on the Plexamp iPhone amp! Follow up question… is there a way in Plexamp or Plex to set a start and end time for each song to avoid intros or lengthy outros that are attached to the song? THANKS!

Awesome!. Love the advanced visualizer. Smooth and seamless UI. I will definitely be using this daily. I mentioned this under the Plex Dash review but I just wanted to know if this properly communicates with plex servers. When I stop playback on PlexAmp, it still shows up on Plex Dash and it doesn’t disappear. When using the regular Plex app, it works properly; as soon as playback stops or album ends, it disappears from now playing, but not with PlexAmp. Other than that, everything works flawlessly. It was easy to set up and adjust my settings. Can’t wait for future releases. Thank you for an amazing app!

Excellent, but needs more polish. Plexamp is a natural addition to anyone who uses Plex for music, and it almost hits the mark now that CarPlay is available. The interface is easy to use and intuitive, and there are enough app settings to customize it to your usage scenario. That said, CarPlay is still a little dicey; it launches well after a recent update, but it doesn’t consistently connect back to my library properly, despite the app itself working fine. I also had a weird issue where music was stuck streaming at a very low nitrate, until I restarted the session. It would also be nice to be able to update tags while in the app, but that’s probably more of a Plex thing. Regardless, I’d still highly recommend everyone with Plex to give it a try. It doesn’t need to be perfect to be a very good app!

Beautiful Plex Music app finally!. This is a beautiful app and a great way to finally be able to browse my Plex music properly rather than using the main Plex app. The visualizations for the Now Playing screen are cool, and kind of a throw back to the old school days of playing music on your computer with iTunes or Winamp. I love the built in “radio” stations especially the “Mix Builder” which allows you to create a shuffle of your own music based on similar artists. Plexamp is smart enough to know which artists to suggest from your library as you add them, which ends up creating a great mix. After seeing the developer comments on some of these reviews I do see there is a way to browse all artists, albums, etc which is to click on the header “Recently added music” then click the ... icon in upper right. From there you can browse by artist, album or track with a variety of sorts available as well. If I had one critique of the app it would be that is not very intuitive to find. I would never have figured that out had I not seen the dev response. Another thing that threw me for a loop was making sure I was on the right music library under Settings>Source. I was on my audiobooks library instead of my music library by default. It might be useful for there to be a little guided setup tutorial when first signing into the app? Anyway, all in all, a great app and I’m super excited to have it!

The one thing I need to make it perfect. I love this app so much, the look, the UI, almost everything. But the only thing keeping me from using this at my daily driver music app is the offline functionality. I want to be able to download all of my music, search, and have all of the same functionality as the streaming section. If this could happen it would make my day and I would recommend this app to everyone. I’ve used Plex forever and I love it, I want to love Plexamp just as much.

Great App, few bugs. I love this new app. Its great to see a experience geared towards music more. Especially liked the Car Play support. I had a few issues with it though. The Car Play screens where jumping back and forth when i would try to interact with them. I also had an issue playing music at first. It looked like it started to play a song, but just kept looping the first second with no audio coming out. I would also like to ask if you could add support for apple watch on cellular. Then you can use your watch to just listen to your Plex library, especially if your in the gym (Pre-Covid days of course) working out. Its easier to not carry my phone on me and just stream music to my watch.

Love this app!. I used to use Google Play to manage my music collection. The fact that they replace your uploaded version of a track with their own in addition to the huge issues with uploading tracks led me to pursue standing up my own Plex media server. I’ve been using Plex for a few years and have discovered some significant flaws with the iOS app. In particular, downloading and continuous synchronization of a large music collection was significantly flawed, and required me to completely delete and re-download the media dozens of times. I was about to give up and and then I came across this app. I can’t say enough positive things about my experience using this app. And they have CarPlay support on top of it?? If someone can tell me how I can make a donation to the developers please!

Only one thing keeping me…. There is only one thing keeping me from using this app instead of prism music. That is filter/sort when looking under the genre. If they would implement the ability to pick a genre and then show the artists that have something in the genre so you could pick the artist then allow you to pick the album then the song. Right now when you pick genre it shows you all albums that have that genre. Sometimes there is a lot. But if instead of showing all albums it showed the artists that had an album first, then you could pick the artist to just see the albums of that artist. I love most everything else about Plexamp other than that. It is the only thing that keeps me using prism music instead. Hence 3 stars. And no airplay. Common Plex get airplay support

Airplay?. Great app to focus on music. Things to consider: Airplay and Cast button to use our phones as a controller and play music on our home speakers such as Sonos. I could use the Sonos app, the Plex player, desktop apps and media streaming devices but then what’s the point of using this mobile app? I personally need it to compete with the DS Audio app for starters. It currently takes a lot of work for users but we need something easier than using iTunes to create smart playlists to download, edit to add FLAC, then attempt to import/upload/sync into Plex. If done correctly, I’d like to open Plexamp and choose MY playlists the way the ‘time travel’ playlists show up. My music library is too large. Creating a ‘Plex’ playlist isn’t helpful if it’s not compatible and can’t be exported to other apps and devices. We should be able to edit ini files similar to the movie metadata files to list similar artists and genres vs using lastFM. But do we really need so many apps in order to run a true experience: PMS, PMP, Plexamp, Plex Dash? Do we want to? Thanks for giving us something to try out during Covid-19.

The perfect iTunes replacement. The days of owning your own music and being able to easily access your collection wherever you go, those days are long gone. At least, they were before Plex. Plex brings back the control and customization over the media you own, but music gets its own special touch with Plexamp. A visually beautiful, easy to use app for fine control over your music collection, this is the route Apple should have gone with iTunes instead of killing it in favor of subscription service. At least this carries the spirit on, and it does so with gusto.

Love it!. It’s Plexamp, but on your phone. I wish the mobile version had Cast support, though as a Labs app that’s understandable. Downloads should also sync with the normal Plex app, if possible. So music downloaded in one is accessible in the other. Going against everyone else, I’m all for splitting the Plex system up into multiple apps. It doesn’t make sense to include Plex Dash in the main Plex app, because only server admins need it. The same is true for Plexamp, because music is vastly different than movies and TV. The main Plex apps lump them all together with only minor distinctions.

Hands down best app for your local music collection. So much care has been put into this app and you can tell the devs really care about this product. Ive been a plex user for 6+ years now but the main plex app is lacking when it comes to music. This app fixes this totally. Love the interface and also the opus transcoding strategy too, allowing you to store days worth of audio tracks taking up less space than 1 Apple Music album. Great for road trips! Appreciate the carplay support too!

Great but needs improvement. It’s great to have access to your cloud music anywhere. AND the app gets album art and info pretty much on it’s own. I love that. But there are a few problems. For one, the app allows for album downloads, but not downloads of single songs. Also, a downloaded library search would be welcomed. Finally, on occasion the app leaked forever to play downloaded songs. Bottom line is Plex is amazing. Overall my complaints are more for minor tweaks than anything else. Anyway, I’m happy to be able to enjoy my music collection, free of the Apple Music app and other services.

Plexamp Review. High quality across a large mix of audio types: ogg mp3 flac and good categories for quick grab and go. It is also plays gapless between songs in a playlist. I had been using foobar2000, but it quit working easily off my server. Used MonkeyMote with my foobar2000 after that, but some audio quality lacking, and clunky interface. Then I used Plex, and moved to PkexAmp after that. I wish it would play with HEOS as many have pleaded with on the HEOS side of things, but I can live with that. Thank you for making such a high quality audio player.

CarPlay version is awesome !!. I have been with Plex for quite a while and have been hoping for a CarPlay version for the past couple of years. This wish was finally granted a couple of days ago. I took PlexAmp for a test drive down a rocky mountain canyon where the LTE signal is intermittent at best. But the application played music uninterrupted for the entire route. For me this is the acid test of this kind of an app. Plex has done a marvelous job in bringing us a truly mobile and CarPlay worthy app. I can’t say enough good things about their effort…

Really great personal cloud style music. I’ve been a fan of Plex for years, but it’s never been good at music, until PlexAMP. Now it’s a great music app. And I prefer to use local files, rather than relying on company servers. Here, the music runs off of what you have stored on your computer. You can use your computer as a server so you can stream to your your phone anywhere, or you can download the music to your phone through your app so you don’t have to use data when on the go. The only complaints I have are that the downloads and streaming from your library are treated as such separate entities (it’s hard to explain).

Cool. Very nice. May need a playlist selection separate from the rest. And I want on certain playlist to automatically download songs As I add them. Thank you

Exceptional. I’ve reconnected with all my old music in a whole new way. After several days of an internet outage I had to rely on only local music on my Plex server. I’d had Plexamp installed but never bothered with it much because Apple Music has been my default streaming choice for ages. But with no streaming available for days I got right into Plexamp and was delighted and surprised at how it reinterpreted all my music into new mixes and playlists. Amazing. If you have Plex, and a big library of your own tunes (from the days before ubiquitous streaming music) then this is a fantastic way to rediscover your music.

Great player. Plexamp is great. I use several different music libraries on the same server. My only wish at this stage is to be able to select between them on the home screen of the app rather than having to change the source (although doing that isn’t too much of a pain)

Wow. What a bonus from the Plex stable. I came across this by accident but it’s easily my fav way of accessing the music on my NAS. It is so snappy and beautiful and clever. Smart suggestions remind me of artists I’ve neglected for ages. Nice.

Great music player!. Works well. I like the Mix builder and things like the Radio by Decade. How do I see what is in the queue? When I add something to the queue how do I see what I have added? Other than this very nice. Hope you keep improving the player.

I have some suggestions.. Excellent and beautiful, especially for local libraries. New “sonically similar” integration is marvellous! Tidal integration is good, but my library loads very slowly and often not at all. This is particularly weird since the Tidal app is very fast. Queue for Tidal in Plexamp also doesn’t work as expected. For instance, I can’t play half way through a Tidal playlist and it plays from that song onward. Instead, it plays the song I selected then goes back to the top of the playlist. Shuffle also doesn’t seem to shuffle all songs in the playlist.

Stoked. This is just awesome. I’ve been an iTunes user for so long and wanted an alternative. I’ve been locked to my laptop. I’ve been a dedicated Plex user for years for video but could not justify moving audio until there was a great player app. This app made me take the leap to move all my audio into Plex. It’s beautifully simple to use and has brought new life to my huge audio collection. Fantastic app. Well designed. Well thought through. And it works perfectly.

Everything Tidal is missing. Plex Amp is a great player, it really brings your tidal subscription alive and fills many gaps in Tidal’s player. Radio, ‘guest DJ’, customisable playback cache, EQ, near seamless integration with local music files and Tidal content, and I could go on. The only thing holding back a 5 star is that I have had trouble getting all Guest DJ modes working properly.

Simply the best. Awesome app. I use it at home and via CarPlay when out and about. Easy to use and a developer who cares. Keep up the good work

Great music app but metadata blows out to 1TB+. I’ve added a small sample of my library and the app is hands down the best I’ve used! Unfortunately I can not add the entire library as plex metadata blows out beyond 1TB resulting in slower DB and unrealistic SSD requirements. I’ve raised a ticket and Plex have confirmed due to “no size limit” of Album Art on their end - some images can be 20MB+ each and this is the reason why my metadata ends up so large. Hopefully this will get fixed soon so I can import my entire library.

Simply the best. Plexamp is without a doubt the best music streaming app on iOS. It is thoughtfully crafted and has all the features you want. The Plex team is constantly improving and refining what is already an excellent product. I would give it more than five stars if I could.

The best. Great to be able to have PLEX Amp available while riding my Harley tourer around the country

Pretty much perfect. All the bells and whistles under the hood, while maintaining a navigable and minimal interface. Only wishlist feature is a larger download capacity - there are many circumstances when streaming is not an option!

Fantastic for music enthusiasts. As a long time Plex user I dragged my feet on moving from YT Music to PlexAmp. What was I thinking!? The app has so many nice features for exploring your music library and the core listening experience is great. Bandcamp + Plex Tidal have brought my library up to date in no time at all. Hoping for even more playlist features in the future, I.e being able to combine “last played” with “track rating”. Keep up the great work!

Great but missing something. Great app works flawlessly! But as a Plex pass lifetime subscriber for around a decade I do believe there should be a paid tier for non Plex pass members to gain access to the features this app provides. This would enable people like my wife and immediate family that have access to my server to play music and a good manner when out and about. Overall keep up the good work and continue to innovate or replicate features within the Plex ecosystem. Furthermore, the application requires a delete feature within the creation of playlists

Wizard. Absolutely wizard. FLAC quality music + PLEX server + offline access on iPhone? What's more to say!?

The best. It’s the media player I’ve always wanted.

Brilliant app!!!. Love it! I bought a lifetime Plex pass many years back, it would have to be the best app purchase I’ve ever made.

Amazing UI/UX. Very nice to use and many cool features that make it fun to engage with a large music library.

Can finally play my own music from my own computer. Best app ever. Without question.

So worth it. Just for this app, getting a Plex Pass is worth it. Auto generated artist radios are awesome. Just say how long you want it to be, download and off you go! I just discovered the lyrics option too, which just scroll automatically while the track is playing. Awesome app, great UI and UX. This beats 95% of music apps I’ve tried. And I’ve tried a few. Keep up the good work!

Sound quality is wonderful.. The sound quality of downloaded 320 kbps Plexamp is crisper and brighter compared to downloaded Apple Music “High Quality” 256 kbps songs. Obviously, there are many variables here but Plexamp seems to consistently better audio experience. Works great on local network Slow to download music when I’m away from home.

Best music experience in the universe. Love Plexamp so much, it’s hands down the best music app on the planet, coupled with a curated Plex Server it gives you hours, days of music pleasure and is the best “I don’t know what I want to listen to” solver ever

Works perfect- great use of my library. Been waiting for an app like this for a long time - unbelievably good for a music fan/hoarder

Great music app. Nothing else comes close for me and my personal collection. Have tried a few different combinations of servers and apps and Plexamp beats them all hands down.

No Shuffle. Nice enough app, but without Shuffle Play it’s pointless. Plus it’s frustrating not being able to have a song play when you click it from the “all tracks” view, instead you have to click into the track and then click play, and then go back to the all tracks view. Can’t this be done from the “all tracks view”? I’d like to be able to browse through my tracks and instantly play one that I see. Anyway, thanks for the effort. I’ll re-download once the app has basic functionality.

Epic app for TIDAL - customisation is epic. Just download it and transfer from Tidal to Plex - the amount of options, customisation and how it looks to it totally worth it

Unusable. You’re really not doing yourself any favours by releasing this early. This app is unintuitive to the point of being pointless. The smart playlist features never work, and expected behaviour which is present in EVERY other player in existence isn’t there. Behaviour isn’t consistent with the regular plex app. That is the worst. At least have that familiarity, so people moving from regular plex can control it without being frustrated. There are awesome UX designers out there, you should use them.

Hands-down the best solution for lossless and gapless.. I have tried pretty much every local music player across iPS and MacOS and nothing compares to the simplicity of Plex and Plexamp. Every other solution seemed to have problems properly playing gapless audio on iOS, this is a very important feature to me as most my library are mix cds from the 90s and 2000s. Luckily Plexamp handles everything seamlessly and syncs all your play history across all devices. The lifetime Plex pass is well worth it for access to Plexamp - i got mine during a black friday deal.

Great new music app. Great new app for music lovers. Love the play screen UI and the mood based stations, re-discovered music in my library I haven’t listened to in years.

Awesome app. This app has become my go-to music app on my phone and computer. My favourite feature is the “Sweet Fades” where it does a fade between songs in a playlist. I no longer use the built-in Music app. Now if only they could release a version for the Apple TV…

CarPlay is terrible. Oh no, what happened guys? Plexamp used to run smooth like butter on CarPlay, however after the past couple of updates it runs terribly. Music suddenly stops playing, songs randomly skipping, menus take forever to load or don’t load at all, scrolling in menus cuts off and doesn’t let you see what’s remaining, the whole thing just stops working. This is my go to app for music in the car, I really hope you guys get on top of all these issues.

Best music app. Love how far this app has progressed. I’ve been collecting and converting high quality versions of my music for years. This app provides the functionality to really enjoy my collection, both in the car and on my devices.

Useful but not quite there. CarPlay support is useful, but it should be so much better. Still use plex over Plexamp most of the time!

Not a good first impression.. Seems quite buggy for the first week of use. Anytime you hit the shuffle button within (or playing) a certain genre/artist/whatever - it will shuffle your ENTIRE LIBRARY! Often displays the wrong artist, but correct song name and album Artwork Sometimes freezes, with no way to pause the song. Quit app and start again. Sometimes misses tracks when playing from a playlist or category. Eg will only play 10 songs from a 400 song genre. Not sure if it can handle a 20k library. Perhaps that is the problem?? Glad I didn’t pay for it!

Thanks Plexamp. It’s the obvious option for managing your digital music collection and playing it anywhere. Bye bye iTunes Match, and Apple Music’s unfaithful treatment of albums that truly need gapless playback. I can enjoy music from my CD collection and play it how it should be.

Musical Nirvana 🙏🏻. I don’t usually leave reviews however, this is hands down the sweetest interface and UI available to access and control your Plex music library. Well done. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Brilliant brainy beautiful songs. The song quality is brilliant

The best way to listen to music on Plex. My music library is vast, but even on iOS I can listen to my music library on all of my devices, with great visuals and the Plex pass features make it work just like other ‘radio streaming’ apps.

Solves every need. I simply love Plex. A fan of the video options for many years and now THIS! I can use my various DLNA options even when away from home. Well done.

Playback position. Excellent app Only issue (major) Plex amp does not save last playback position. Somehow it stuck to a point and even if you play beyond that point, next time it start to that point. Very disappointed life time Plex pass user Download function also not working.

Brilliant. Such a lightweight application to play high quality music that you own and don’t have to rent from a streaming service. Thank you.

Lyrics. Would really appreciate if you make the lyrics bigger

Beautiful, elegant, and simple. A beautiful UI which makes listening to my music easy, and helped me rediscover some I’d forgotten I had! Love all the colours and visualisers!

Needs Widget. This app is amazing but it desperately needs a widget. Any music app should have it at this point.

Solid player once you've put the effort in. Takes a bit to get going when you want to use it as mobile music player for your collection of music. Only thing missing is some form of whole house music control.

Love collecting again: awesome!. Plexamp is great with rekindling those FLACS that otherwise would have moved aside for streaming. I mean, really great. As a way to get excited about the music business again (the so called “lean in” consumption) there be only one obvious competitor, Roon, which is comparably bloated. Let me explain. I have a modest collection of lossless music, which I’d like to grow. Even this modest amount (think CDs) can sit and gather dust. After ripping them and adding to the account, Plexamp’s themed “radios” (yes, using OWN collection) magically retrieves them in ever-delightful sequences. Sony’s SensMe is as good, but you’d need their harder-to-find DAPS. This app is great with all the iDevices, and considerably keener in price. More cash to free up for buying music! Yes, I’m an old-timer. But those radios are exciting in a way I hadn’t experienced since I was a younger person. And that, friends, is awesome!

Flawless App. Plexamp works amazingly well. Have setup Plex Server on a Synology NAS and have started ripping my CD collection as flac files. The streaming works perfectly to my phone and at the same time works perfectly with my cars head unit interface. Well done Plex. Well worth the subscription.

Love it. Always been a fan of Plex. Nothing better than listening to my own lossless collection in the car. I’ve become my own streaming service 👍

Still a few issues. Can’t seem to shuffle all tracks Songs still show all the stars when you tap and hold them (with that option turned off in settings) Would be great to get an album grid view also.

Almost perfect!. The only thing holding Plexamp back is the fact that you cannot easily download all your songs for long trips and flights if your library exceeds 24 hours in length. Otherwise this is one of the best looking music players for your personal music collection.

Doesnt work. An unknown error has occurred. Unable to login

AWESOME. This lets me play music from the Plex app and download it! Actually comparable to Spotify :)

Local Files app storage and Cloud Storage. Please add the option to load music files directly via wired or wireless into the app without being Plex Server dependent as it takes a long time to download a full library playlist. Would also be nice to fetch or link music from the Files app. Better yet if a Plex Amp folder was in the Files app and it could just direct play from there or a Music folder in the Files app would be perfect. Plex Amp is far superior to the default Music app by Apple but having to download only playlists is hampering it’s full ability. Would also be nice to load cloud servers into this app.

Amazing. Pretty good just downloaded it my dad introduced me ☺️

FANTASTIC. I have a large FLAC music collection that I hook up to this and it works like a charm. Love how frequently it’s updated. The seamless transitions feature and sonic analysis is super cool and unlike anything I’ve ever tried before. I looked into Roon and other apps like this for iOS before hand but this is the best bang for buck and just solid app! Would like to get lyrics though but otherwise everything else is great!

Great app. Rarely have issues with this app. I can use my phone to control audio while speaker is paired to iPad. Fantastic work team. 5/5

Plex amp. Very well done. Everything works!

Great app from Plex but missing certain features. Love the app, please consider making improvements to the following: 1) Add some kind of indicator for downloaded music. 2) Add a “Downloaded” section in the home tab. 3) When tapping on a downloaded album on the Downloads tab it immediately starts playing the first song of that particular album. Please change this behaviour so instead of doing that it opens the album and lets us choose which track to play. At the top off my head these are some things that stood out to me while using the app. Hoping to see these improved in future updates. Thanks Plex team!

Love this app.. Been using Plexamp for about a year now. The UI is so very clean and user friendly. I can get all my music here without having to connect to computer. Great, love it.

Vraiment bon. Application super bien fait

Awesomeness. Visually pleasing and user friendly, packed with cool features

Unbelievably Good. Please keep up the extreme customization. I never realized how picky I am with my music player until using this app. Only problem is there is a bug with CarPlay where sometimes the shuffle and repeat controls disappear

Awesome. Grew up on WinAmp… this is better.

Works seamlessly!!. Set it up during lunch hour at work and it just works perfectly. Player looks great and the sleep timer alone is worth it! Hopefully they'll add better lock screen support for ios in the future!

iPhone 8 / iOS16 search makes it crash. Can’t use the search function. As soon as I try to select the searched tune, the app crashed. Barely usable. I tried uninstalling / reinstalling but the issue remains.

The more I look the more I like. I can’t get over how nice this app is. It’s a treat. And those EQ presets? I don’t deserve an app this good.

Fast and gorgeous UI. My new favourite app!

Great. Love this, great companion to Plex!

Amazing app. Plex keeps getting better and better.

Finally! Back to the REAL PLEX. FINALLY I can directly access and DOWNLOAD my old skool mp3s without all the other Plex BLOAT. Thank you! Here’s a clever download feature I would LOVE to see: Autodownload after X plays; Auto download X stars and up; Auto download Newly Added Auto-Nuke from download folder after X weeks unplayed Etc... U get the picture:) that way, you slowly build up an offline collection of your true faves

No search button on library. Can search songs when navigate on folder, it’s a basic thing since the creation of the earth App have premium look but it’s impossible to navigate on folder when search button is unavailable The general search button is useless on library with 20k songs

Superb. Works best with a large music collection, and does a great job rediscovering old favourites.

Best music player out there. Like a modern day Winamp but way better.

Seriously awesome. Canceled my subs and am switching to owning my music, this app makes it possible!

Fantastic. This is a great - keep the good work

Plexamp by go-to audio player. First there was Winamp then there was Plexamp. Winamp was my one stop shop audio player for my MP3 collection back in the day (and still is on my older computers). However, I needed a compatible substitute for the newer devices in our home to playback by backed up collection of audio CDs. Plexamp beautifully connects with my PLEX server to help me playback my entire library of music anywhere in (and out) of my home. The regular updates are always welcome and keep the player functional and streamlined. PS - the graphic visualizer is one of my favourite features.

Great app but……. Love the Plexamp app. Just wish they would let me turn off the visualizers and just have the Album Art line it did before. The visualizers are cheesy and annoying. I’d give 5 stars for that one small edit please!!’

Perfect Plex companion. I’ve been using Plex forever and the one thing missing was a music player and this is the ultimate player.

Awesome little player!. I’m sold! This player is really great at home but mostly on the road. To always have easy access to my music collection is a great thing. Thanks Plex!

A must have for those who prefer managing their own music!. Completely replaced all other music services I used. Constantly receiving great updates and no bloat. Great work!

Unbelievable. I recently purchased Plex Lifetime pass on Black Friday and wow wow wow I just cannot get over how slick Plexamp is!!! The coding is AAAAA literally cannot be any better… maybe one nag would be a 1-12s slider for Sweet Fades that’s it. Keep up the good work PLEX!

Basically worthless with free version. With no downloads this app is pretty much useless.

Nothing works. shuffle feature only shuffles recently added music.

Beautiful, powerful, simply lovely. This app and server integration combo is just what I was after. Love the customization

Love it!. Favourite feature is the transition between songs

What a great app. Such a great music app. If only the actual Plex app was put together this well.

I have a lot of storage …. … but this app won’t sync my entire library. Makes me sad I can’t have all my music with me pre-downloaded all the time.

Plexamp WOW!. I can stream and play my lossless flac files with a usb dac from my plex server. This is worth every penny for a lifetime subscription with plex. Thank you Plex Team Palantbon:)

Almost perfect. This is almost perfect, the download section needs work, should be able to go in downloads and be fully functional like online. Needs to include artists, songs, albums & etc. If it ever does I can truly kill Apple Music and just run plex. Great work though. Let’s make this the best music app

Exactly what I wanted!. Awesome app for us audiophiles.

Almost great, but not quite.. Why is it so hard to switch libraries? Would make a lot more sense if it was similar to the Plex app. Switching between podcasts, and several music libraries shouldn’t be a game of hide and go seek in settings. Aside from that this is a great app.

Great app, getting better every update too. The best way to stream your library and even Tidal library is a must. A Bandcamp integration would be even better !!

Almost perfect. Missing a cast feature and CarPlay. I could do airplay, but that doesn’t work so well with a Chromecast Audio.

Okay but missing streaming options. I can’t imagine why adding support for DLNA is not possible.

Latest update is awesome. I’ve been waiting for this day to come. With cast now working the app does just about everything I’ve been hoping for. I’m a long time Plex user and have a lifetime pass, I would have bought the pass for Plexamp alone now.

Great!. Possibly the best music platform for hosting your own library. The design and function of the app is nearly top tier

Amazing! App icon customization would be awesome to add though!. Finally a way to access my music with all my metadata. Some app icon choice like in the main plex app would be an awesome addition! I’d love to see a version of the current icon with a white background.

Love it !. Integrates my Tidal library on top of my own music it’s perfect ! I will give 5 stars if I could sync my bandcamp account too !

Awesome. Amazing player, so much better than the base Plex app for music. Pleeeease add scrolling of long track title names 🙏🙏🙏

Best music app, hands down, no questions. They’ve updated this thing to perfection. The new car view is great. Casting is in it, the layout is logical. Note to developers: Please don’t try to ‘keep up with the Jones’. You’ve got this thing nailed. Sure, maybe you can tweak some things here and there, but it’s so good, don’t try to redo perfection. Time to make other apps, this one is perfected

So much potential, ultimately deleted due to its major weakness. As advertised, when I first got this app I did fall in love with my music again. Then I realized that "Library Radio" refers to repetition of 20-30 artists and a small range of songs. I have hundreds of artists in my collection, why I would only want to hear 20-30 over and over? (playlists/stations also repeat every time) If this app actually played ALL my music it would be the best music player I’ve ever had. I’ve searched and searched to try to find a way to overcome this gigantic flaw, with no success. If it is possible to actually get it to shuffle ALL without incessant repetition, app developers, PLEASE let me know how.

Directionally Challenged. It is a decent audio player, but still need work. Navigation is cumbersome at best. You have to constantly go back to the full list to get back to where you were. The biggest issue though is once an album is finished playing, it always begins to play the previous album in the library, regardless of how the settings are setup. I cannot get the app to play the next album automatically no matter how I apply the settings, which is frustrating when you have a multi-disc collection to listen to and you have to start with the last album to ensure you can listen continuously.

A must have.. This app brought my music back to life from my Plex library. One of my favorite features is having a unique EQ for each Bluetooth device I use. This is super handy since one of my cars has an upgraded audio system and the other has speakers that are twenty years old, plus my air pods. With that dynamic change of systems it was important to fine tune each device properly for the best experience. Great work folks!

Very impressed. I no longer sync from iTunes to my iPad or iPhone. I’ve been using plex/plexamp exclusively on my devices for several months now and so glad to be done with iTunes. This is a great app, plays any format you throw at it FLAC, Apple Lossless, DSF, and more. I really enjoy the “on this day” feature which allows me to rediscover albums from years past. Keep up the great work and so happy I bought a lifetime membership years ago.

My new music player. Finally!! And now my migration from iTunes is complete. Great player love all the radio stations available, but just one thing...when playing say, like one my playlists and I want to shuffle songs, there’s the shuffle icon, but it doesn’t indicate if it’s been activated or not when you hit it. Some sort of indication would be nice bc I usually find myself hitting it more than once to make sure it’s working. Other than that great player

Bug: Can’t create playlists. I LOVE that Plex is giving us a better music player, but the primary feature I care most about is broken AND underdeveloped, so this gets 1 star for now. The broken part: When I go in to a song or album to add it to a playlist, and I try to create a new playlist, the ‘Create’ button doesn’t work. I can type in the name of my new playlist list, but can’t create. My only option is to cancel out. The underdeveloped part: PLEASE let us create playlists from the Playlist screen!!! It’s suuuper annoying to have to go into a song or album to create a playlist (especially now since the feature is broken!)

Got Plex? Get Plexamp.. If you’ve got a Plex Pass, this is the music player you’ve been dreaming of. It’s clearly been lovingly crafted by a bunch of music nerds who actually use it themselves. It’s gorgeous, it’s intuitive and effortless to use, and it makes it a breeze to enjoy your Plex music library at home, on the go, and in the car. If you don’t already have a Plex Pass, this may well be the app that sells you on it. Grab a month and try it out.

Beautiful private music player. This app is amazing and there are two standout features for me: 1. You can pass the active play queue between devices pretty easily, so pick up on your phone where you left off on your computer down to the exact track position! 2. Access to my entire Plex music library in full fidelity and no one can change my library contents due to licensing restrictions as often happens with popular streaming services.

Wow! Sexy, Clean and Versatile.. Very sharp look and feel. Then the sound though my DAC was clean and smooth. I need some treble boost on the E.Q. As my hearing is slipping in my older years. Then to my big surprise I found Plex can play all my DTS 5.1 surround audio files. I looked all day and only found 2 other apps for iOS can do that. 1 had clipping/distortion issues and the other’s UI was primitive. PlexAmp has it all!

My CD collection at my fingertips anywhere. I absolutely love my CD collection. Sometimes for the quality and sometimes for the songs that aren't available streaming. Plexamp makes accessing that CD collection much easier. I can listen anywhere I have access to internet and my CDs stay safe at home. I have most of my library in a single codec, but love that it will take almost any codec you throw at it. A fantastic addition to plex pass.

Just awesome. I moved my music to my Synology a while ago but their Audio app was limited and Apple Music since the change to a subscriber model has been as well. Downloaded PlexAmp as soon as I heard about it and it is awesome. So simple to point to audio folder. The mood and genre options are incredible and make it pleasurable and effortless to listen. Honestly would have paid for this and even happier it was free with my lifetime PlexPass. If this is version 1, I can’t imagine what they’ll add on next...

Best app for streaming music from server. If you have a lot of your own music or videos sitting on a home server somewhere- this is hands down the best app for streaming. I have terabytes of music and videos on a Synology NAS and rhe connectivity is great. The user interface on iOS is better than native music app. And let’s not forget that these folks have a perpetual license, which is a rarity. Can’t recommend enough and thx to the developers.

Great All Around. Been a longtime Plex user and decided to try Plexamp instead of Apple Music since I prefer to manually manage my libraries. It is great all around so far but I do have two major suggestions. For downloaded music, allow grouping by artist so that users don’t have a list 1000 albums long Also allow a simple download of an entire artist catalogue rather than each album at a time or a random mix by length. Otherwise, again, great. It’s a great app all around, but the few little things it’s lacking make it suchan absolutely awful experience that the app is useless to a lot of us.

Finally have gapless playback to my Roku. It was driving me nuts that my Roku or PlexTV app doesn’t offer a gapless music play ability. After much research I found that Plexamp has gapless music play, but there is no App that offers it for Roku or streams to the Roku. I’m lucky enough to have an iPad and using it and Plexamp together I found I could bypass the PlexTV app on the Roku altogether by using Apples AirPlay streaming from the iPad to my Roku device. Does it really need to be this difficult to get gapless CD music? Kudos to Plexamp.

Needs work with CarPlay…. Does not have any shuffle or repeat options while playing a song like every other decent music player on the market.……. There are also constant bugs that cause the CarPlay interface to disappear or become unresponsive. Albums like to start shuffling random with no option to stop shuffling, and it has issues continuing where you left off after disconnecting and reconnecting. Fix the bugs and it’s easily 5 stars.

Five star app. We could not be happier with this app. It does everything it says and does it extremely well. It works much better for music than the iOS Plex app and is one of the most reliable apps I use. It’s got a nice interface, easy to find settings and is just overall a well made app. The developer(s) deserve a considerable amount of praise for their work and if you stream your music library from your Plex server like we do, it’s a must have.

Excellent Music App. I’ve been using this since it came out and it really has been a good send. All of my music in one place. My only two requests: 1. Allow the adding of single songs from Tidal to the main library. Currently, you have to add the whole album. 2. Something is up with CarPlay sometimes where it forced CarPlay to crash when you switch the song. When I reboot and go back to Plexamp, CarPlay crashes again. This is on a Sunday outback. Other than that, excellent app.

Fantastic App. This is a fantastic app. I love being able to go through my entire plex music library. I have a few suggestions. Feature request: being able to download individual songs from your library instead of having to download the entire album to your device. Also, the ability to delete/manage individual songs on your device. It would really help for not having a ton of space taken up on your device with songs you don’t like or never listen to. Second request: is it possibly to add an add to playlist or like song on the Lock Screen of iPhone? Thanks for giving us a way to stream our personal music library anywhere.

A Perfect Player. A lovely player that fit’s my needs more than perfectly. I wish they’d produced a standalone app for the Apple TV itself but it doesn’t seem to be in the cards. It doesn’t in any way take always from the greatness of the player itself. If you use Plex and love music please treat yourself with a download of this if you haven’t already. I’m sure most of you have though. If not what’s stopping you?

Nearing perfection.. This app is nearly perfect, the one thing it needs is the ability to have attenuation when using the equalizer. There’s a preamp, but it only supports increasing gain, not decreasing it. What ends up happening is I have bass slightly boosted, probably by like 2-3db(can we get a scale on the EQ as well?) and on songs with very loud bass it ends up clipping even with 0db preamp. The limiter function *helps*, but ends up destroying dynamic range in the process, and I don’t want to use any of the “dynamic loudness” garbage that has made its way into everything audio nowadays. Besides that one issue, app is pretty epic and cool.

Great music player. I like it a ton for streaming my personal collection. I two things I would love to have. Default to lyric mode if available instead of having to re-toggle it every song. It would also be nice to be able to control plexamp on my desktop pc from the mobile app. Didn’t realize the cast button is used to remote control the desktop app. Very cool. Sad about lyric mode but understandable.

Awesome! For the most part... The app is clean, appears to not have any noticeable bugs, but lacks features. I understand that having a minimalist app is cleaner and what not, but not being able to have complete control over my playlists (deleting, modifying filters, modifying the name, etc) is a nuisance. Having to open the Plex app/web, find the playlist and modify it just to go back to Amp is way too many steps. 1 star taken because of the latter. Keep up the good work 😃

Ok, but the original app is better. I tried this app for a bit, but found this to be borderline useless. The original Plex app is a lot more rich in features to include the one feature that’s been around since 1991 which is the repeat all or one feature. Not sure why this isn’t in there. Heck, this was a request made 2-3 years ago... The visuals are bit old, you might as well put a dancing sheep in there instead. Not to mention the original app has lyrics I can see if I’m that board or want to sing along on those long car rides. The feature to sync playlists are not there either. The original Plex app has that feature there already. To be honest I would just stop wasting my time developing this and merge this into the original app to make the music section much better. It’s already doing very well and has way more features. The quality of sound is the same, so I’m not sure what the advantages of this app really is.

Almost 5 stars! SO close!. Man this is good, like really good. I have a massive FLAC library and I finally have sound the player of my dreams. 2 things to add that would make this a home run. The ability to download single tracks at the time from an album, and not have to worry about downloading the whole thing to do so. 2, PLEASE add CarPlay support. CarPlay is a must. I’m not sure if the app downloads FLAC as FLAC without transcoding to MP3, but I haven’t tried yet. So close to a knock out of the park release. I mean, you even included an EQ!

Almost, but deeply flawed Tidal integration. At first, I loved this app. It’s much of what I want in a mostly beautiful package. However there is something deeply wrong with the Tidal integration. I’ve tried to contact the devs many times but no one has bothered to respond so here I am writing a review in the hopes that someone sees this and fixes the issues. For some reason or another there are tracks and whole albums of Tidal media which are skipped inexplicably—no error, no message, they’re just skipped. The same track in the Tidal app? No issue at all. Apart from that there are the infuriating “stations” many of which do not load any content and instead say, “To seek nothing is bliss”. Really. Bliss. I beg to differ. Then there’s AirPlay. The delay when changing tracks is absurd. It’s just not useable as-is. It feels like someone started working on this app, made great progress, and then just forgot to actually finish half the features. This is close to being “the app” for music, but not if things remain so half-baked and untended for.

Love it!. This is the best app, hands down, for playing your music library anywhere you go. Use a portable bluetooth speaker, plug your phone into your car via Caprplay/AA, stream to your home stereo. This app also includes cool fades between songs, dynamic playlists (like most recently added songs, most played, etc), and an equalizer (which is a must-have, IMO, especially for use with bluetooth speakers which may color sound).

The App for the serious music collector.. I have an extensive collection of FLAC files in my Synology server and this app is my go to app whether on a plane, in a car, at home or at the office. It works so well and it works well also as a remote to control my other systems that I have at home. I get far superior quality audio and pay no ever increasing monthly fees that I would with music streaming services. Plus it can compress my music if I choose to do so.

Awesome app but has a carPlay / EQ glitch. Love the app!!! Now that carPlay has been added it will soon be my go to app for music. One glitch I found though is that my EQ settings don’t work right away. I noticed the music sounded flat at first through carPlay so I opened the Plex amp app on my phone, turned off the EQ and back on again and boom.. my EQ settings kicked in perfectly— shut everything down and tried again— same thing, had to manually open the Plex app, toggle the EQ off and on again, and it worked again. I am using an iPhone XR and CarPlay in my 2020 Toyota Tacoma.

Solved my music listening issues. I used the Plex app to play my music. It has a lot of issues where it would crash the app, or skipping to the next track, it would have a ghost song playing in the background when playing the next track. It was also slow in loading the track. The plexamp app solves all those issues and my music listening experience is seemless. Thank you Plex for creating an exclusive music only app.

Beautiful and simple network media player. By far my favorite music player. I can keep everything on a server and then stream 24-bit 196MHz FLACs to my lossy Bluetooth earbuds as the producer intended. Now that repeat’s been added it’s pretty much the perfect media player. Moar visualizers are all I crave now. P.S. If you rotate an iPad Air (2020) on the current build the visualizers break, but by the time I remember revise this review that’ll definitely be fixed. So five stars, because I can’t knock it for anything that won’t be fixed.

Plex & PlexAmp. PlexAmp is awesome, has the best features of any music app that stream you personal music library from anywhere - way to go PlexAmp developers !!! One thing I wish I could change, just make Podcasts part of the main screen, so I don’t have to go into settings to change the source to Podcasts. Make it part of my Home Screen. Regardless - PlexAmp is awesome!!

Game changer. I had tried Plex as a music several times in the past, but the fact that everything had to go from the server, through another phone, tablet, or computer, and then on to my music system killed the deal. Now, with Plexamp, I'm able to stream directly form the server to my stereo (and multiple systems with Airfoil). I've been using it for a few days now and so far everything has worked flawlessly.

Awesome music front end for Plex and NAS. Beautifully made app. Works great. Custom EQs per device are a wonderful feature. One small issue lately: when accessing library I often get a blank library screen for about 10s with no “loading” indicator and no ability to drag down and refresh. If I wait it does show up. It just looks like the app hanged.

Hopeful but disappointing (Updated). Update: As the dev pointed out, you can browse album/artists under the recently added music area. I’ve added another star for this but it really needs to be more prominent (tab would be nice). Kudos for the quick feedback. I look forward to the future of this app. I like that Plex has made a dedicated music player, but there’s no way I can use a music player where I can’t browse my library in lists, especially by artist or album. There’s really no way to see your library at all except for your top plays.

Amazing!. I’ve been using this app for a few days now to play my music instead of the standard Plex app and it’s been pretty great overall. Beautifully designed, butter smooth, and lots of great power user options. I’d I could make one suggestion it would be to make your library more front and center as opposed to just recent things. Other than that absolutely impeccable work. I know that this is a passion project from a few people at Plex and I wholeheartedly appreciate your hard work!

The last music app you need for Plex. With the addition of Chromecast support this is pretty darn close to my ideal music playing app. It has all the fun music discovery features that it started with, but you can also manually browse by artist or genre. Also it’s pretty! Also also it lets you seamlessly get music from friends’ libraries when it would fit in one of the artist radio stations.

4.8 Stars. Just one tiny thing. Love the Plexamp app, been my default music player for as long as it’s been out. But please make the shuffle button and the repeat button match the seek bar and the play button when the “Colorize Player Elements” toggle is on. Sometimes when the album art is a very strong color and everything changes to match that theme the shuffle and the repeat buttons stick out like a sore thumb.

New Home layout is a step backwards. I don’t have any interest in Mixes or Stations and I’m rather disappointed you can’t disable these from appearing on the Home layout. I typically gravitate to a specific album from Recently Played or Recently Added and go from there. The fact that Mixes and Stations take up so much real estate and clutter what used to fit on my screen without swiping is really a step backwards. I appreciate the additional capability as everyone has their own preferences for interacting with their music library but please add an option to disable or rearrange them.

Still amazed!!!. I have been an early adapter of Plex. For roughly 40 years and to this point I am collecting music and videos. Plex allowed me to digitize my collection. With the introduction of the sonic features and now the integration to GPT-4 I have the ability to fine tune my listening experience, similar and better to the larger streaming services. I recently canceled my subscription of one of the better known streaming services because of Plex! Well done Plex team.

Love!. This app is awesome. I love being able to access my music from my Plex library outside my network and the ability to download stuff to my phone when offline. One little pet peeve. Put the line where it shows remaining time and total time on track below the track, artist and album name. That way we can screenshot, crop and share to Instagram. It will not fit album cover and track info as it is now. Or.. have a sharing feature included..

Amazing music app with one flaw. Pros: - Improved sound quality with customizable equalizer - Beautiful interface - Easy access to entire music library over plex media server - Ability to download playlists to device - Seamlessly syncs music from plex media server Cons: - It’s moderately frustrating that there’s no way to see/select from a list of songs in the playlists that are downloaded on my phone. It only allows you to shuffle the songs in each playlist that is downloaded. You are able to look through individual songs that are “up next” but they are in no particular order. This is not a problem when streaming my playlists so I don’t understand why it’s different for my downloaded playlists.

Great with caveats. It works well when it works, but odd little things keep it from being 5 stars: Metadata including artists, song and album titles frequently disappear when my Plex server updates. There’s no scrolling for long titles, so for example backed up podcasts with long titles or songs with a list of guest artists are very cut off with no way of viewing the whole title(s). It’s cool to be able to better control streaming from my computer, but minor app improvements can go a long way in making it great.

Buggy App With A Lot of Potential. I very much enjoy the audiophile features that Plexamp offers and a great way to stream Tidal with the ability to manipulate the sound to your liking via the numerous settings. My Tidal tracks were not able to be loaded in the app (could only see artists and albums). Searches often timed out or were unable to return data - even on a ultra high end Wi-Fi connection. Another necessary feature would be a Qobuz integration. Resolve the track loading/search bugs and add Qobuz and this becomes a 5-star app. For now, I’ll stick with Roon at home and the Tidal/Qobuz respective apps while on the road.

Nicely done but a tab unstable. I enjoy most of what this app offers and I find myself using it often to listen to my collection on the go. The only issue with this app is it tends to crash when skipping tracks. It does fine working through a playlist or album but if I skip several songs in a row, it’ll crash.

Great, but could really use better offline features. Love the app, love Plex… but this app could really use automatic offline feature so I don’t have to rely on cellular data in areas that don’t have great reception, as well as generally draining battery a lot more vs playing locally. I have a 512GB iPhone for these reasons. Would love to be able to stream on some devices but also have it locally stored, say for my device or a device that only connects to Wi-Fi.

I’m my own streaming service!. It’s great running this off my Plex server. The sound quality is just sooo much better than any streaming service out there, and I don’t have to pay a monthly fee, that seems to keep going up year after year. It’s brought the joy of going to the record shop and picking out my fav albums again!

Text-able Music Links. Your app gets better with every update! One option you guys can add is the ability to share a song from your library via text and play it directly either from the app itself or from the Plex website for those contacts who don’t have the app on their devices. Hope to see this function soon!

Not Bad. Been using in the car. So far have been happy with it. Only feature I wish was available would be a favorite button in car play mode where it would compile a playlist. The fades are sweet indeed! Sound quality is excellent as I play my lossless collection. It does seem like some of the same tracks continuously come up on random. With 15k+ tracks it should be some deep cuts. I do recommend anyone with a music collection to use this app!

Solid App. I'm a big fan of Plex Amp, especially the ios version. It's great for streaming my library of game music and works really well. The only thing I dock it for is there's a limit on downloads maxing out at 24 hrs, so if you have an album or playlist it only downloads the first 24 hours. This isn't inherently app breaking but I wish the app had at least warned me instead of just only queuing up half my music. I have a 36 hour driving playlist I shuffle and I'll likely need to look into breaking that up somehow.
