Weber Connect App Description & Overview

What is weber connect app? The Weber Connect app is your secret ingredient to Smart Grilling!

Weber Connect is the companion app to Weber smart grills and devices. When paired to a Weber Connect grill or device, the app becomes your sensor dashboard, remote control, and recipe book all in one!

Track temperatures from anywhere

The temperature of your grill is important. Weber Connect grills and devices can track your grill's temperature and alert you when it drops below your target temp due to a flameout or spikes because of a flareup. With the Weber Connect app you can follow its temperature and get alerts for important events.
Even more important is the temperature of your food! A few degrees are all that stand between perfect and overdone. Weber Connect grills and devices let you track your food's internal temperature precisely with connected food probes and transmit them to your app. Watch the temp rise on the graph so you know when it's almost time to head back outside to take the steaks off, or set a target temp and get alerted when it's done no matter where you are.

Adjust the grill without getting up from the couch

Some Weber grills, like the SmokeFire, can have their cook temperature and mode changed by the app. That means you can turn the heat up, go into SmokeBoost mode, or shut down your grill without taking your eyes off the game.

Never wonder what to make for dinner again

The Weber Connect app has over 800 recipes built-in, with more being published every month. Every recipe has been crafted and tested by Weber Grillmasters, and many are fan favorites, so you know you can't go wrong with any of them! And almost half of our recipes are Smart Recipes, which walk you through, step-by-step, with short looping videos and clear instructions so you know when you're doing it right. Grilling has never been easier or more fun!

The new Weber Connect 2.0 app has the important features of the original app:

• Remote temperature monitoring
• Temperature limit alerts
• Temperature range alerts
• Timers
• Remote cooking control for grills that support it
• Smart Recipes
• Classic Recipes
• How-To videos for Weber Connect grills & devices
• Wi-Fi and Bluetooth LE connectivity

Plus some new tricks:

• Live graphs
• Graph sharing
• Graph data export
• Grill naming
• Recently-cooked recipes
• Recipe bookmarks
• iPad support
• Improved accessibility
• Dark mode

A small hiccup. When you attempt to change the probe alert temp you constantly get “A small hiccup” error. Only way to fix is remove the probe alert and create new. Tried contacting support but no reply so here is your 2 star review.

Knob lights come on by themselves. Just got the Weber spx435 grill and downloaded this app and the knob lights come on by themselves if I use the light push button or use the app to toggle off the lights they will come on by themselves within 20 seconds even if I disconnect the app from the grill they still come on so I just unplug the usb battery bank please fix and there seems to be no way to shut off the grills temperature display settings by using the app

New version stinks. Over complicated. Doesn’t connect to the grill like it used to. Probe reading is dumb. Please revert.

Trending in the wrong direction. The app started out pretty strong, but more recently I’ve seen lots of problems. 1) Connecting to the grill at all feels hit-or-miss. Half the time it works, the other half it doesn’t. There’s no clear rhyme or reason. 2) Even when it’s connected, the app doesn’t always give you the most current information on temperature or timers. Not sure how or why this happened but now you need to tap around to force the info to update. 3) The notifications and alerts went from being useful and descriptive to being something generic like “Weber App needs attention”. This is just terrible for the overall experience. Instead of being informed that the grill is at temperature or that the timer has been completed, there’s a moment of anxiety where the full range of potential problems is on the table because of this poor messaging. This app was good at one point. It can get back there, but it needs some love from Weber’s design and dev team. Update: Revised down to 2 stars. This most recent mid 2023 update is really bad. The app isn’t as clear or as useful as it was before and feels like it’s lost a lot of personality along the way. Please consider rolling back this most recent update. The previous version was a better foundation from which to iterate vs this one.

Disconnected. It does read temperature on the device but not from the app.

Widget. Love this app and love my grill. PLEASE give me a widget for iOS so i can monitor from Lock Screen!

New Connect 2.0 is excellent!. Since buying my SmokeFire 6 last year, I’ve loved the ability to use Connect on my phone to control the session, and now 2.0 makes it even better! Can’t say enough good things about the grill/app, combo, other than wishing (hoping) it will come to Apple Watch soon!

No alarms?!?!?. Just “upgraded” from my Weber iGrill that I’ve used for 5 years and while this app has temp thresholds, there’s no audible or visual alarm when you go outside your set range. The old device would start screaming, both the physical device and my iPhone would alarm but this system doesn’t do anything. Absolutely useless for smoking…. Very disappointed with this “upgrade”.

Software 2.0 changes the game!. Update 6 May 2023: The big 2.0 update is here, and it totally transforms this device for me. A sleek new UI, data logging, graph view and more. Everything I was missing from the iGrill app seems to have made its way here. Thank you Weber! 🙏 Two suggestions for improvement; there are moments/areas where the font size and zoom seem incorrect or collide with items/borders in the interface. I’ve noticed it especially in the temperature readouts of the “now grilling” and “grills” dashboards when a temp range alert is set. Second, please add an Apple Watch app for Weber Connect. Even though connectivity was shaky in the iGrill Watch app, I still used it frequently as it improved my experience and level of convenience. Well done; please keep up the good work! ———————————————Happy to see this app moving in the right direction. Remote monitoring is great and seems very reliable, but I was disappointed seeing that so much of the basic functionality present in the iGrill app was missing here. Improving/adding native notifications and simple temp range/target temp were big (but obvious) steps. Wish I could adjust the temperature range function without having to delete the current and enter a new one (maybe this is just me?). Also hoping that data logging and more make it into the upcoming “big update.” Thought I might have put my hub away for good a few months ago in favor of my trusty iGrill. Glad to see I can use it again, and hopefully it continues to get better!

Weber Discinnect. Weber Disconnect would be a more accurate description. Even though the BBQ is supposed to be ‘smart’ and WiFi connected, this app consistently loses connection. Both my iPhone and the BBQ are on the same wifi connection and the connection is strong to both, but unless I’m next to the BBQ, during the entire cooking process, the app will say the connection is lost. So I purchased a very expensive BBQ where the probes and timer are useless unless I’m immediately adjacent to the unit. So what’s the point?

Cooking Programs?. Where did the cooking programs (not recipes) go? That was my most used feature of this app. 😡

Easy to use, doesn’t open where you need it to. Easy app. Opens in a main window that doesn’t show any of your grill info. Really need to make that a necessary feature. Also would be great to have a readout in the latest iPhone notification areas.

Not That Impressed. Seems more dressy than practical. So it shows the ambient temp, but no way to set a heat point temp remotely. Set a timer and it just ends, no beeper. Set a heat-up temp, and you get notifications but no alarm you’ve reached your desired temp. No way to hold that temp either. Meh.

Bug fixed but still needs improvement. At least I can now set the temperature range above 220 max. Can we get rid of the slide settings for time and temperature alerts? Much faster in the old version where I could type in a time or temp.

I love the new version. So many new features and data

Major improvements!. The 2.0 update did exactly what it needed to. Charts! It’s about time. Make the alerts go off like the alarm function on the phone does, I should have to hit a button in the UI to make it stop. It should be able wake me up if there’s a problem with my temp ranges I’ve set or if the meat is ready to wrap when I’m doing an overnight cook.

Weber Connect. So Glad weber finally hired real app developers. This app is so much better than the original! Can connect multiple grills. 10/10

Great graphs and range!. The app works great, and the range is excellent. I can still see the dashboard from my bedroom, 70 feet away and two concrete walls in between my grill and the room. I really like the charts, with the flexibility of viewing ALL temp probes at once. My only suggestion would be to develop an Apple Watch app, similar to the iGrill (which I also have). You already have the platform to build it from.

Most recent update is broken. After using for two years, the most recent updates no longer connect or find my Smokefire.

The previous version was much better. When you set a timer or temp alert on the old version it was almost impossible to miss when the timer went off or the temp was reached. This newest version changed that and now if you aren’t completely focused on the screen when the timer or temp is reached, it dings once and never again, in other words, you miss it! This pretty much makes it unusable for me

A few more tweaks would be perfect. Great product. I love the wifi ability, especially coming off of the iGrill which was Bluetooth only. I can monitor cooks from inside the house and not worry about signal loss. A few tweaks to the app/firmware: -The ability to name probes. It’s kind of nebulous about what probe is what when you have 4 going. It’s difficult to keep track or remember what’s what. -The ability to name timers. For the same reason as above. - The ability to import or add your own recipes. And rate them or favorite them. If it’s there, I can’t find it. Get those added and it’s 5 stars for sure.

Changes are horrible. You ruined the app. I used to select a cut of meat and go. It would let me know when to do work. Now, I have to find a recipe that doesn’t match what I’m making. You made it complicated for no good reason. Change it back

Top Notch!!. My family owns both a genesis 300 series gas grill, and the smoke fire second edition large grill. I LOVE having both grills in one app where I can cook independently on both! I love the additions to make sure I have everything I need. Makes grilling something like baby back ribs a breeze for non-grillers like me!

Temp not showing - 50% of time temp doesn’t indicate on electric monitor. Half the time the temp shows on electric monitor and half the time it doesn’t. I van’t figure out why this happens.

Used to be great. Newest update chock full of irrelevant garbage. Just open to the screen where I control the grill.

Loving 2.0. Bro…new update is 🔥

ETA’s?. What happened to the built in ETA’s from the original version? I liked the timer for flipping and completion.

App won’t even open. The app won’t even open to check bbq temps or anything.

Incredible experience. As someone whose a bit newer to grilling, this app was awesome. Step by step directions on what to prepare, and exactly when to flip your meat as well as a live temp reading from the probes. Made making any meal within the app incredibly easy and painless to do and meat was cooked to perfection.

New app terrible. Old app worked like charm. New one won’t connect to my genesis 325. I have to uninstall and reinstall app each time to use it. Why mess with success. Oh yeah, your techs have to justify their existence. Please fix ASAP.

Could be better. The app would make the hardware a lot more useful if the temperature alerts actually triggered a persistent alarm until dismissed (like your alarm clock). I often grill overnight and I want the app to wake me up my fire goes out, flares up, or brisket hits a certain temperature. Should be an easy update to the software and suddenly its 100x more useful.

Mediocre interface. Some of the time, but not consistently I've been very frustrated with the machine itself it often crashes, as does the app

No Push Notifications. I would be great, as others mentioned, to have the temp and timer notifications alert your phone as other push notifications do. There should be a phone vibration or noise alert. The app notifications are useless if I have to continue to monitor my phone to ensure I don’t miss when the timer goes off. Beside notifications, the app works well.

Previous version was better.. Previous version was better. They made the new version all flashy and fancy when the previous version was easier to use and less flashy.

What an Upgrade!. Since buying our Weber SmokeFire a year ago, the app has come such a LONG way! So so many great improvements with a timer, recipes for basic cooking to more advanced recipes. The dashboard is a huge improvement as well. Too many great features to mention. Kudos to your team.

Not reliable at all. Multiple bugs continue to make this app and device completely unreliable. I had a temp set for 200* last night, app decided to randomly Change it to 165* this morning. Thankfully, I already know not to trust this app at all so I’m continuously looking at the screen monitor rather than relying on any accurate push notification. Graph history was a cool new feature in theory but in reality it randomly loses all historical data, so hard to track temp averages, stalls, etc. I ended up buying an old school radio frequency one when the Weber failed to notify me in the middle of the night that the temps unexpectedly plummeted, and I had to throw away a $70 brisket.

Overcomplicated app. I think of Weber as a quality product, but the app lacks a primary feature. The app is built for a thermometer, and I would expect to be able to select my meat and cut and set the temperature alert for one or multiple probes in one step. Amazingly, you have to set up each probe separately, and I have to select a recipe to get to the recommended temperature for the chosen meat. How about making the recipes an option and allowing for quickly selecting temperatures and which probes to use for that setting? Recipes should be separate from cooking. Recipes could be used for setting probe temps but should not be the only method.

Where is. Where is the Apple Watch support already? Last year you guys told me you were working on it. When will this be available? It will make the connect a game changer!!

Brand new and already got issues. Not happy

New version is not very intuitive. I’m finding the new version of the app cluttered and less intuitive. Also would like to see an Apple Watch version so that I can check temps on my watch.

Temp Probes. Weber needs to work on the quality of meat temperature probes. In my experience the temperature meat probes need to be better. They seem to have consistency and longevity issues.

Go to now grilling. Found the great timer grilling section; it’s no longer front and center. Go to now grilling, then touch the upper right hand corner ( circle with three dots). That brings up the add recipe and the helpful monitoring features.

New interface is HORRIBLE!. Want to set a temperature alert in the old interface- tap set alert and type-120°. New interface… tape several icons to locate temp alert. Then slide a bar that starts at 60° all the way up to 120°- oops126- oops 118- oops 121. Finally 120. To find the temp alert again once running- good luck- please go back to the simple interface or at the very least allow me to type in a temp. It was great-5 stars before you fixed it.

Constantly changing app interface. I’ve had my Weber connect hub for years now. I love the results. My problem is the app GUI constantly changes. I wish Weber would understand less if more. Stop changing the GUI. Stick to one.

Version 2.0!. Finally! Weber redesigned the app interface and seems to be far better than the previous versions.

Needs watch all. Please make a watch app

No push notifications and no recipes import. There is no push notifications when it reaches the desired temperature. At a party I didn’t hear the temperature. It would me better if push Notifications where part of the experience could see it and respond. Also the recipes are okay, but worked be much better to import recipes. Would be nice to add something I searched on internet or from a user. I know manual works but it would be way cool to see other users recipes I can add to my app. Otherwise it’s enjoyable and a good added experience.

Easy to use. Well done Weber, you got it right. Easy to use

Grill no longer connects to wifi. App was great until the latest update. My grill no longer connects to wifi, making the app useless.

Where is the Weber sticker pack for iMessage?. How about a sticker pack for us loyal Weber enthusiasts? If Traeger has one, Weber can do better!!! Still waiting for more cooking programs. As I believe the Webber is a the best pellet smoker on the market, the app lacks in recipes compares to the Traeger app

Great Start but needs Work. 1. Needs to support multiple connect enabled devices at the same time(SmokeFire & Connect Hub for example) 2. Notifications need some work - they are repeated once the app opens

Ok but could be better. No graphs is a real disappointment…. Would love to see this incorporated.

Tight and stable. App has a robust feeling to it, allowing me to let go. Definitely needs ability to self-label timers and probes, as working with multiples of each requires too much memory recall of what each were for, especially when glancing at the app with beer in hand. Optional history/graph of temp over time since a probe's start would be a nice touch to understand more about a cook, including finish times

Good but. Yeah it’s handy but severally lacks functionality why have a wifi module if you can’t completely remote start? Few more recipes would be good also

It’s okay, but…. App works fine for the most part, but there are 2 things that definitely should be added. 1. Push notifications for temperature drops. The app is able to notify when your desired cooking temp is reached, but not to notify of a temperature drop. Pellet grills do suffer from pellet tunnelling/channeling every now and then, it’s so be expected, but surely the BBQ should be able to warn the user remotely that you may wanna check the pellets are feeding because the temperature had dropped significantly. 2. Remote starting. I get that the ability to completely remote start may be a health & safety thing, but having to get at at 4am to press the button manually on the BBQ to start it is a little annoying. Surely if you show a disclaimer that tells people that Weber will take no responsibility for any damage/destructions caused to something left inside the BBQ, over covers left on etc. A few more recipes from would be nice also. I love my Weber Smokefire, I just wish the app was it’s equal :)

Decent but needs features. App overall isn’t bad but it’s badly in need of some features found in other wireless temperature apps. Needs graphing over the cook and the ability to save the graphs. Needs the ability to completely remote start the bbq, pointless having to manually switch the physical button each time. Needs an Apple Watch app to monitor temps and adjust temps as needed. Needs temp range alarms.

Watch app. Hurry up with the watch app please

Set up is much more complicated than it should be.. Wi Fi connection doesn’t work and it took over to set up the Bluetooth convection by the time the software was updated. I preferred the older Weber iGrill app

Disappointing. I am a bit disappointed. After using a cheap $50 Bunnings brand Bluetooth thermometer for years, I decided to splash out on the new top of the line Weber Connect - as all my other Weber items to date have been great. The temp probes are great & the temp info is also great - but that’s about it. The app is severely lacking basic items that my old cheap probe had & assumed something worth $200 would have. No ability to add your own custom cooks - as there are a lot of meat cooking styles missing & we all have our own way of cooking. And a stopwatch function so you can time slow cooks of custom set temps, instead of just the timer. They are two massive things missing that this should have as a basic function & really made me regret my purchase.

Some great features however some big gaps. The app is easy enough to use. Set up takes a couple of hours - initial bluetooth pairing, then wifi connecting, then hub updates which took the most amount of time, and hub charging. It took my hub two updates, and it requires some attention. I haven’t used the recipes nor step by step guides, only temperature thresholds and timers. Being able to monitor temps on long smokes, roasts, and short grills is 100% stress free. I can do other things. Upper temp threshold very handy for vent adjustments and food check. Timers also useful, I set up as many as needed. However temperature needs a history graph and lower threshold as charcoaling has so many variables to calibrate vents and fuel burn. A little log / journal even just notes for the current cook would be nice also. Swinging for the fences here, how about keeping history & photographs? Sharing results? As it stands: not workable for overnight smokes. Good enough but oh so much potential.

Smoke fire in Fahrenheit. Is there a way in the app to select Fahrenheit, my grill is in Fahrenheit but the app shows Celsius super confusing.

Simplistic but flawless. Wonderful and simplistic app does exactly what you need

Useless. I hate giving bad reviews, no graph, no temp warning alarms, no ambient temp range with alarm ( so you can’t tell if grill looses temp unless you stare at the app) no saved cook. I don’t see why any one would keep this based on the limited features!

Nothing but problems. Worked fine last year . . . This year the temperature probe and the console had to be replaced .. . Then it worked . . Then it didn’t. Blue tooth Connection issues. Sometimes I have to reboot my iPad and other times I have to delete then reload the weber app. Needless to say, I’m not happy this year. The good thing is that I know how to BBQ and don’t need a “smart” BBQ

Great Hardware, Disappointing Software. I have no doubt the Weber Connect thermometer system hardware is great. However, I can’t say the same about the app. It is lacking numerous key features necessary for any enthusiast grill user: -No historical temperature graph -No app specific temperature unit setting (ie. the entire iPhone must be set to F for the app to show F, why doesn’t it just simply follow what the Weber Connect thermometer is set to???) -No alerts for temperature ranges (will only alert once desired temperature for a food probe is reached, but needs to also allow for alerts when an ambient probe is below or above a set range) -No Apple Watch support Many of these features were present with the older Weber iGrill system and I am incredibly disappointed that this newer system is inferior due to baffling omissions in this app. I sure hope there will be updates soon or this expensive unit will be going back to the store.

Igrill app is way better than weber connect. Why weber dont use is igrill app for the weber connect? I use both and igrill is userfriendly and keep logs and graph of cookings. Connect is a better thermometer but comes with a very bad app. Should it be a solution to transfer the connect in the igrill app?

New Weber App. Works great. Ton of new easy to use features. Big improvement from the original app.

Disappointing!!. The temperature is solid and the app works good but lack some couples key features... - the fact that you can’t change the Celsius and the Fahrenheit without going to your setting is bad - you have the ability to have the app on Apple Watch with the lower version (igrill) but not with this models that cost more... please guys give us more for the price we paid

Keeping in Touch. Works Amazingly Well !!!!

Needs Temperature Trending!. The old Weber iGrill app had this feature. I don’t understand how a newer version does not include such a useful feature.

Recent update deleted cooking items. I went to cook baby back ribs and that item is no longer on the app. Please add this back in.

No ability to disable sleep mode. Using this grill without the display going to sleep after a set period of time makes using the grill — especially in winter months — much less appealing. Anything that takes longer than an hour to grill (whole birds, ribs, etc.) is subject to no communication with the grill which is a major shortcoming. It would seem an easy fix to enable or disable sleep mode.

Hardware is nice Software is lacking. Considering what the unit costs and what you end up spending to get the extra probes, you are paying to a top quality unit. So far seems to work well and seems accurate with no signal loss. Software has a lot to improve upon, missing many features from the old igrill and most of their competitors. I purchased this as I was able to get locally but a bit disappointed once I saw that I couldn’t use the old igrill software with this, and the fact that this is missing features, historical temps and Apple Watch app were two big ones....

Needs historical temperature graphing and Apple Watch support. I really like the Weber Connect hardware. However, as others have said, the app needs historical temperature graphing and Apple Watch support. The iGrill app has had those features for years. I don’t understand why they were left out of this app. Weber…I hope you’re listening to your loyal customers.

Weber Connect. Need historical temp trend data. My old igrill had this. Seeing where temperatures have been, where they might be trending is so helpful. This I would think is an easy interface feature - plus its been done before and now seems like a lost feature for igrill.

Amazing product but so many bugs. Since last firmware update my Weber connect stop charging at 85% for some reason , can’t start any cooking session it just waits for 1 minutes then beeps This could be to most amazing product if your app would be up to par with your product line all your bbq are great but this is an expensive not fully working thermometer And having a range of temperature for the ambiant probe would be great not juste à beep once temperature is reached then you need to reset a new alert ... this is useless the product comes with an ambiant probe ( main reason I bought it ) and can’t set any minimum or maximum Please update soon bbq season just kicked off here

Not user friendly. Really dislike how you have to change the phone settings to get the app to change from Celsius Fahrenheit. This should be controllable in the app.

Lack of notifications makes it useless. My grill came with the Weber smart hub included but the app notifications only work when the phone is unlocked and the Weber app is in focus - so you cannot use another app at the same time or have your phone go into sleep otherwise you won’t be notified when your set temp is reached. This makes the app, and by extension the smart hub, useless. I guess now I know why they included it for free.

Graphique. Pourquoi pas avoir un grafique de la température tout au long de la cuisson, tout les autres brand on sa . Et pour la batterie, elle se vide tuseul déception .

What happened. The igrill gave me time temperature graphs which really helped me get my smoker set up. Now all you can get is current tempeiyh no history. Why why why Weber?

Love the wifi, prefer the iGrill app though. Miss the graph! There also doesn’t appear to be an Apple Watch version of the app which iGrill does.

Update not happening. Verification for update goes on for hours. Pairing impossible. :(

Just ok :(. I want to love all things Weber but this is an unfortunate step backwards from it predecessor Weber iGrill app. While I appreciate the wifi compatibility of Weber Connect we’ve lost graphing of temps over time and, even more disappointingly, no more Apple Watch compatibility. I used to appreciate just checking my wrist for quick temp check and notifications. Now I need my phone all the time. Come on Weber… you can fix this!

It works but some flaws. I’m tracking a slow cook, not a recipe in the app, and I’ve been using other apps. It restarted, and I lost the cooking graph.

Bad app. Very bad trying 3h for updates échec all timers :(

Lacking. Very temperamental. I don’t write many reviews but had to in this case. This app sucks, surprising considering Weber products are typically great. Find that it can be difficult keeping Bluetooth connected. Sometimes need to reinstall app in order for it to work again. Lacks many features that could make it simple. Not sure why it makes you need to adjust Celsius and Fahrenheit in phone settings and not in app, seems confusing. Also, Would be nice if Weber would find a way to consolidate many of their apps into 1 that could do it all rather then having the multiple apps they put out there.

Thanks for the new updates, changing to 5star. Thank you for the temp tracking

Single grill limited. I own a Weber E435 and purchased a smart grilling hub to go with it. I also own a Smokefire smoker, which has the probe feature built in. Turns out the Weber app can support only one device at a time. It requires me to delete the Smokefire to use the hub, and vice versa. Weber dev team, please solve that problem soon. Otherwise, it’s a great app and system.

Not enough features. I just bought the Connect Hub today, marvelous piece of equipment. If I didn’t have the Weber igrill previously I might rate the app as a 2.5/3; But the connect app is disappointing with its lack of features in comparison to the igrill app. Miss the graph cook tracking, and many features like widgets for your Iphone, or Apple Watch to check at a glance. I would love to see the Connect and Igrill apps blend together and become 1, or at least add all of the igrill features to the connect app - the connect has a much higher price point and should have the greater feature list.

App missing key features offered by iGrill. First off, I’m a huge fan of Weber products! Love my Performer Deluxe and Smokey Mountain. App connected easily to hardware. Was easy to set up. Got it connected to WiFi quickly and seamlessly. Very easy plug and play. However, 2 huge misses for me with this app as it is right now. I know the developer says more is coming, but wanted to share the feedback. 1. No way to graph cook information and 2. No way to set a temperature range for the ambient probe (I find this the most frustrating as an ambient probe comes in the box!). Those were 2 of my 3 favorite features from iGrill (3rd being alert when food hit target temp).

Limited Data. After using the iGrill for a few years now I was hopeful that the Connect would be a real upgrade. While the ability to monitor temps remotely was my motivation to try the Connect, it actually lacks the ability to record and display the temp history of a cook/smoke session. Considering how important it is to reach target temps within a specified amount of time, it’s disappointing that Weber chose to remove this functionality from their premium grill thermometer.

Device has a lot of potential but.... Being able to use a temp probe with WiFi is fantastic. When you have a cook going all day being able to walk away and still monitor is essential that said the app needs improvement. The must have feature for me is being able to turn the device off with the app. As it stands now you have to turn off manually on the device and there is no good indication that the device is turned off. I have inadvertently ran the battery down several times and it’s infuriating when I get ready to cook thinking the device is charged only to find the battery dead. I would also like to see some charting of air temp and temp probe temps but that’s a like to have feature.

Could be so much better. I am a rookie griller. The recipes are sparse and incomplete. Look at the recipe for Spare ribs. It tells you in two different places how to remove the membrane, but never tells you the grill temperature to use. Also, when out of range of the grill, the connection between the phone and the grill drops. So you can’t monitor your grill very remotely. But the biggest fail for me is that if you get a flame out, it doesn’t send you a notification, but rather waits for you to check it. So much food gets wasted. I’m 12 days into my 100 day free trial. 3 great meals and 2 abject grill failures so far. I’m really trying to give them a chance, as it is the only smoker/grill combo in existence, but it’s been tough.

No native notifications??. It works, but I can’t believe they didn’t implement native notifications; all alerts (timer, temperature alerts) are only in app. This means if you switch to another app or just sleep your phone there is no alert. Nobody is going to keep this app active in the foreground, constantly touching their screen to keep their phone awake just to receive the alert. This is such a basic and important point, I don’t know how this design decision was allowed to stand. The only reason I gave it 2 stars instead of 1 is that within the app everything works. They should have skipped the nonsense Recipes feature and instead implemented native notifications and time series.

I like it but.... Well at first I thought it was great. It’s definitely going to be great once they get all the kinks worked out. For example, it was all fine and in English earlier and now it’s in German and there’s not settings to change it back nor is there any google results about it. The temp reading is awesome. But I wish there was a way to bypass the timer for when the grill is preheating, or at least an explanation for the what the timers on the hub is for. I just wanted to know my read outs but all I was getting was some sort countdown.

A poor experience. Friends, this software is not for serious grillers right now, and has some terrible design. Like crazy-terrible. It is *not* as featured as the iGrill app—you can’t set a range, you can’t track temperature on a graph (so forget timing your stall when smoking a brisket), you can’t focus on a single probe etc., you can’t save your presets. It wants you to use walk-throughs built in, complete with timings that tick down ... but which can’t know what kind of cut of meat / weight you have. Man, someone can pitch apps that sound great to execs but which don’t actually answer a need, not even for grilling neophytes (which we all were once, no shame). Buttons you need to press to get started are, by default, greyed out (go figure), buttons that aren’t greyed-out don’t do anything, a button titled “Settings” isn’t the settings screen, modal buttons don’t return to the previous state when you tap them twice, and so on. This is ... very, very bad. Verschwinden wir von hier, und nie zurück kommen. Sadly.

This app can only change temperature, nothing else.. You have access to grilling recipes. You have access to any thermometers that are plugged in and can change target temps. But,. all you can *do* is change the temperature of the grill. You can’t see a graph of its measured temperatures and you can’t ask it to notify you if the grill goes below or above certain temperatures. You’ll receive notifications to your phone but the app will give you no indication what it was for. Did the grill achieve its target temperature? Did a thermometer achieve it’s target? Did the grill run out of pellets? Who knows? All of these are possibilities that you’ll have to discover for yourself after opening the app and poring over its illogical menu structure.

Good but could be better. I am satisfied by not thrilled with the Weber Connect app. After having used the Weber iGrill app and thermometers on a Weber Genesis II for 3 years, I have to say that the Weber Connect for my SmokeFire grill is somewhat of a step backwards. The step by step instructions for preparation of various foods is nice and generally pretty accurate for excellent results although the extent of the recipes is limited. My biggest gripe is that there is no feature that allows showing the graph of temperature for each probe. This is helpful when smoking long duration foods like brisket or shoulder. Also, the iGrill offers an iPad version too which is nice to be able to set up the iPad in the kitchen and monitor the graphs over the course of the day. I’ll keep using the Connect and look forward to when Weber makes some improvements.

Good So Far. Good with connectivity and responsiveness so far. Haven’t had any issues pairing. The only issue is that the recipes and cook programs show temperatures in Celsius even thought the app is set for Fahrenheit. Hoping that gets fixed in an update.

Missing so many opportunities. The app has worked fine for me. Except it doesn’t use iOS notifications when things reach temperature or when alarms go off or whatever. I have to open the app to discover the timer went off sometime in the past. Would love a control center widget or watch app/ complication that gives the info.

Promising product. It works as it is, easy enough time pairing it and getting it onto my network. I do like the fact that I can remotely monitor (like go to the store and still be in touch with my temp probe). There are two key things that I would like to see in the near future, and WEBER will earn the fifth star; 1) the ability to set a temperature range (with a tolerance) and get an alert when my smoker strays. (i.e... I want to set it for 225 and have a warning if I stray +- X degrees from the target). 2) a historical graph feature, so I can look back through a cool to see if my temps have strayed.

Needs Improvement, Firmware Update Barely Works. I have 3 Weber grills (summit II, performer, and SmokeFire EX6). I have a built in igrill 3 on the gas, igrill 2 for the charcoal, and the built in controller on the SmokeFire. I have been very happy with igrill app, and hopefully most of its functionality will be ported over with support for igrill units! Besides that it works but lacks a lot of functionality. I’m sure Weber will improve the app over time. My biggest complaint is the firmware/software update process for the SmokeFire. It is very ambiguous (it literally says get your phone near the grill and wait 15 minutes WITHOUT any prompts) then reboot the grill and wish for the best. I have been on the phone a couple times with Weber because it just refuses to update the firmware to 4008 no matter what. Followed the instructions to the dot, also on the phone with Weber representative. Tried at least 20 times on different days while trying out WiFi/Bluetooth settings. Never got it to update, and Weber says it is critical to update to 4008 for stability. I can’t tell if the app is having an issue or the smokefire unit is faulty.

Disappointed. The Weber name is usually associated with quality, but this app and hardware feels half baked. Sometimes it tells me the food is done when it is undercooked. It told me to flip the meat as soon as I placed it on the grill, obviously the steps are out of sync with the probes. The recipe selection is very limited and they don’t seem to be adding new stuff often. There is no Apple Watch app or widgets so you can monitor from the Lock Screen.

Needs an Apple Watch app.. Awesome app for the Weber Connect. Has lots of cool features like recipes and step by step instructions for first time/amateur users. I don’t use those features as much as the temp readings/notifications. Only wish there was a corresponding app for my Apple Watch. Other than that, works well for my needs.

Your are going to be FRUSTRATED eventually!. I have been a loyal Weber user for literally 45 years. As a teen I started grilling for my family on a black kettle. The first thing my spouse and I purchased jointly was a Weber grill. I was a die hard Weber Groupie UNTIL I bought this expensive SmokeFire. It has been a TOTAL and expensive disappointment. Tonight it won’t again connect with my phone and it’s a freaking freezing November night in WI. The whole idea of being connected was that you could easily monitor your cooking. If I want to re-pair it with my phone (which I have done multiple times since purchasing the SmokeFire) you have to totally shut down the entire grill… which takes 15 minutes at least. Then once paired, you have to bring it up to cooking temp. All this takes time… and now it’s late. So dinner is gonna be late AGAIN because of this problematic contraption. I think what bothers me the most is the fact that I held Weber in such high esteem for so long and now they have fallen so low.

Pure junk. Weber should not get anywhere I’m this device. It has NO instructions and there is not an on/ off button. It is supposed to pair to the iPhone and it will not. Stick with the iGrill, that product works. It has an on/switch and comes with instructions. The Weber Connect device is shaped very sleekly, but it has no controls. What is really shocking is the device is supposed to give instructions on how to cook. Maybe it does in theory, but the device I received is a paper weight.

Need LOW temp alerts please. I had to run out a buy this at Kenyon Noble because my ThermPro died. Overall I really like the app, and the ability to connect via WiFi to this new Weber Connect. The only complaint I have is that I can’t set a low temp alert for my smoker temp. I have relied on this heavily in the past on my therm pro to wake me up to stoke the fire in the middle of the night (especially if I’m doing an overnight smoke), please add this feature. The only temperature alert I can set, it seems, is a high temp alert.

Feeling burned.... This product was launched way too early and is missing key functionality. It looks like updates are to come, but this is really disappointing for us that are early adopters. The hardware is great, but the software is just not there to support it. I would suggest that the iGrill app be interfaced with the Connect hardware so we’re not left with an expensive paper weight while the developers work on fixing this. Notifications do not work on iOS like iGrill did. There’s no noise or vibration, just a small banner. You literally have to stare at the screen or you’ll miss it. Missing many key meats and the layout is sloppy. This should have a multi-layer menu. Click Steak -> then click thickness -> then click temperature/doneness. Having each thickness of steak and temp in one menu is sloppy. We also need smaller thicknesses of steak. I wish every butcher shop started at 1-1/4” thick, but that’s just not the case. This is the first time I’ve been disappointed with a Weber product, but I’ll never buy anything electronic from them again without reading reviews. Feeling burned - pun intended

Would like alarm options. Generally a good system but I am disappointed that the temperature alarm only alerts you once. If you are mowing the lawn or otherwise can’t hear your phone, you will miss the alert. I would like to see an option to extend the alert until the user silences it.

Device is 5* App is 2*. This device I like much more then the Weber iGrill options. I just wish I could use the Weber iGrill app with this device, or that this app had the features. This app doesn’t have a version available for the Apple Watch like the iGrill does, which would be great. The iGrill also has a chart history feature, just so you can look back and see how it cooked, for those smokes I either messed up or did awesome. I think more focus should go into the actual usable features of the device itself before they continue developing “Grill Procedure help”. I have only accidentally used this feature and had to click through to get back out. Make it more available, equal to or greater then the other options out there for experienced folks, then add the fluff with technique guides etc.

Not Equal to Weber iGrill. Found this thermometer on sale for the same price as the Weber igrill and bought it for a gift expecting it to be equal or better than the iGrill that I owned. There are more features in the iGrill for less money. I would recommend checking out the Weber iGrill instead. The key difference is Connect does allow you to monitor your meat from farther away.

Love this app…. I would like to see one thing added. This app is great. Could we get an enhancement to so the history of our temps when we start grilling. I’d would be outstanding to see the temps difference I had to make adjustments too to improve my temp control! I can’t be the only one that would like this info! It’s a must to make the jump from family bbq to party bbq!!! 😜😃 It’s not but I sure would love this information!!!

A “just ok” app for a great smoker. This app is just ok, but could (and should) be great to be on par with the Weber SmokeFire. Notifications are spotty. Often they don’t come through and when they do I will get the same notification up to ten times. The interface is less than intuitive. The grill control button doesn’t look like a button but a header so it can be hard to find. Making it standout would only make sense if they wanted the user interface to be intuitive. Additionally they don’t have a web interface. Be great to be able to check on the cook in more than one way. Finally, this is an app for a smoker. Often one wants to smoke “low and slow” while target a completion time. When cooking a brisket there’s a “stall temp” that you want to watch for and see when the stall stops. This is most easily seen via a graph, yet this app doesn’t have a graph. PLEASE add a graph for smoker temp and each attached thermometer. Allow us to better use the smoker. Makes one wonder if the programmers aren’t actually using this amazing smoker as if they were a graph would be part of the app!

Good hardware / basic software. The weber connect device is very nice and appears to be made well. The software is the soul of the device and it works ok. You can set a temp to be notified when reached but once reach that notification is “spent” and wont notify you if temp fluctuates or if you want to readjust. You have to remove it and make a new one. Also it does not track the cook overall which their igrill and competitors do. Would be great if you can control a low and high temp warning for the ambient probes and be able to edit the temps of the other probes as well. I will update my review as software updates come out. For the money this is not a great value at all but its made well and works. In case you are wondering I worked in technology for 7 years with mobile electronics and have used a competitors thermometer for the past 6 months which is half the cost and has more function/value.

Outdated app. Can’t change temp and shutoff smokefire EX6. The app not showing cook graph, when it shutdown, error codes, and much more is a huge problem! I don’t understand how you can sell me something and expect me to do your beta testing!! The updates are needed ASAP!! The MEATER app is far superior!! Just go buy a company that knows what they are doing because Weber is clearly an old dog that can’t learn new tricks!! I’m furious with my new purchase two days in! The grill and app have too many problems for the price. I would be furious if I was given this grill for free.

Needs features that Weber already makes. I have the igrill 3 (2 of them) on my Smokey mountain and my genesis 2. They are excellent but I need to keep my phone close to the back door where my smoker is. This completely solves the Bluetooth range issue but why didn’t Weber build in the same features it has in the igrill? Track the temp is missing which I use on 10 hour cooks and let’s innovate and add some more then just show the temp. I’ll add a battery review after I’ve done enough research. I’m smoking a rack of short ribs in 40 degree New England today and it’s not showing any signs of temp fatigue.

Super smoke. I wish there was a super Smoke setting for More smoke. Also maybe more precise fan speed to make this happen? The fan doesn’t need to run at full speed all the time. When the grill first lights off there is a great amount of smoke, then the fan kicks to high and gets super hot quickly, sometimes too hot. I’ve found when grill reaches temp to leave it alone for a couple Of minutes.

Not intuitive, needs watch support. Coming from a place of love…. The guided cooking is confusing and not intuitive or clear enough, to the point I do not use it - bummer because the concept is awesome. I would like to anticipate the next step and how far it is from coming up - now left wondering whether it will come up, is it working, what comes next… I came from an iGrill world, seriously would like the app to support Apple Watch.

Vast improvement but still work to be done. I’ve had a few hiccups with the current update but overall this is great functionality that’s been added. The app still needs many more features but I guess that’s why it hasn’t reached 1.0+ releases yet.

Love it, but please add grilling history/ charts. The Weber Connect has been a game changer for my barbecue. My smoked brisket, pork shoulder, and more are all so much more delicious on my Weber Kettle with the temperature alerts enable by this app. What I would love to see is charts/ data about my cooks. What time did the meat go on the grill, how did temperatures change over time, etc.? Even better if this can be exported to a log file, note, or social media. I have also been slowed down by some of the updates. Is there a way to have the app inform me about an update, but let me “snooze” the alert until after my cook? On my most recent cook, this left me cooking blind for the first ~30 minutes while I was bringing my grill up to temperature. All in all, a great tool and a huge improvement for smoked low and slow cooks. A few software updates would make this even better.

Double notifications annoying. I’ve been dealing with double notifications within the app since I purchased this grill back on Aug 2020. Every time I change the temperature and the temperature is reached, when I open the app, it notifies my twice. I have to click “ok” just to make other changes within the app. If I make multiple temperature changes and wait to open the app, I have to click “ok”multiple times before the app is even unusable (very tedious). I’ve worked with Weber directly and they can’t fix it, with videos of the problem, but their tech team is stumped (reset the grill, updated the app multiple times, removed/reinstalled, etc). It makes the app completely unusable. Please allow us to turn off in-app notifications! This would solve the problem.

Nice updates!. A while ago I requested the ability to adjust temperature ranges instead of having to cancel and create a new one and now we can!!! Small update but very nice being a few taps away from a range adjustment (if you are waiting for your grill to reach a stable temp for example). Great job continuing to improve this, there are some minor connection issues but ultimately this system has been great. Happy I bought it 👍.

Solid Hardware, Software Needs Some Work. I really like the Weber Connect device and it’s probes, very simple to use and excellent battery life. Plus if you forget to charge it you can still use it plugged in which is awesome. The real downfall with this platform is the software. There are several things that cheaper or equivalently priced thermometers have that Weber Connect should have but doesn’t. Some examples of this: 1. There’s no way to calibrate the probes which is super frustrating since I know at least one of them is off by about 10 degrees. This is very simple functionality that would be easy to implement. 2. It doesn’t record the history of your cooks so you can’t go back and reference what you did the last time you made “X”. 3. The alerts are decent but I’d like to see some more robust options.

Good start. Like others have said, it close but needs more features. - History graph of temp so you can see the stall - Cook programs need to have adjustable temps & weights - Be able to force a refresh & see when the last refresh was done - After removing the probe to wrap, it’d be nice to be able continue with a cook after the temp probe reached its limit before it went back into the wrapped meat.

Something new that has fewer features than iGrill app. Mission: create a “new” app that has fewer features than its predecessor. Status: Success! What’s the purpose of taking a decent app like iGrill and stripping all its most useful features (simple cook programs, target temperatures by meat type, temperature graph, etc.) and replacing it with something that only tells the temperature or counts down the time? To be honest, I can look out of the window at the thermometer without need of the app. Every time I use this app I’m reminded of how pointless it is.

Works ok, but can only support one device. I have a smoke fire ex4 and the Weber connect smart hub. I cannot run both devices at the same time on the app. I have to delete one which is very frustrating as I cook with multiple grills/devices at the same time. I'm a brand loyal Weber enthusiast, and a little bummed with try he limited app functions. Hopefully they will continue to update the app, time will tell.

Great software and device, one major complaint.. This hardware and software is a great package and I've had no major issues. I do have one major complaint though, stop forcing me to update the software of the device! This is a device that you only use when you need it. That is, when you're grilling. So you just want to be able to get it out, plug the probes in, and come to the app to set your alert. Problem is if there is a software update there is no way to skip it or close the pop-up for it. So you're forced to do the update instead of just getting grilling. Other problem is these software updates take so long. By time they are done what you have on the grill might be done and you may as well not even bothered getting the Weber Connect out in the first place!

The app is horrible.. Man I don’t get why Weber is trying to go this direction with this device. The actual device is awesome and works great. I was keeping an eye on my temps while I was at the grocery store thanks to the WiFi. But whoever was in charge of the app really dropped the ball. Y’all fixed all the problems of the igrill 2 device that I hated but then you changed the app. Should have left it the same. Or atleast made a way for the Weber connect to use the igrill app. I would give the actual device a 5 star bet the app ruined it.

Luckily, I still have a FireBoard.. I got Weber connect hardware with my new SmokeFire grill. The hardware works great. The app is pretty pathetic, not even as good as the old igrill app that has been around for years. The first problem is that you can only see the current temperature for each probe, no time versus temperature plot so you can see the trend and project when your cook is likely to be done. Second, you can only see the data through the app and not from another device through a we browser. This isn’t a deal breaker (like nit having a time plot), but it’s silly not to provide this when Weber must have it on one of their servers. If you are buying hardware separately, get a FireBoard, or wait until the app gets upgraded in a serious way.

App Crashes on iphone 12 ios version 14.6.. On iphone 12 ios ver 14.6. Just purchased the Smart Grilling Hub. Setup goes fine until it reaches the update, then app crashes, and won’t relaunch. Tried many times following the directions the closest I got to completing setup was 7% into the update. Will be returning the device to Lowes $100 is too much to spend on something that doesn't work as advertised.

First time use. It was easy to figure out I got it so I could watch the temp of a brisket from 50 miles away the only thing I don’t like is it don’t have a refresh button it seems that sometimes it would take awhile for it to read the same as the transmitter the refresh pulse be nice so you knew it didn’t freeze up

This app isn’t ready for prime time. I get that this is a new product and I appreciate that these reviews are being responded to and fixes are on the way. But it’s not like Weber was starting from scratch here. The iGrill app has been around for years and works great. Why they would not just basically copy that for this makes no sense. I got mine yesterday and realized I couldn’t monitor ambient temp with a temp range and ended up having to use my igrill to do that. For 130 bucks I shouldn’t have to use two thermometers. This shouldn’t have been shipped until it was ready to go.

Hardware improvements, but less functionality than iGrill app. I recently upgraded from a Weber iGrill to the Weber Connect Hub. The Wi-Fi connectivity is a huge improvement, as I’m no longer tethered by Bluetooth to the smoker. I miss, though, the iGrill’s graph view, which allowed me to chart the smoker’s temperature over time. Also missing is watch functionality. Widgets would be a welcome feature, too, so it’d be possible to monitor temperatures without the app running in the foreground.

I never realized how much I needed this!. I thought this was a gimmick but having a smart thermometer is a game changer! I use it for both my smoker and my kettle grill. I started with the mini which was Bluetooth only and upgraded to the Wi-Fi version. Big request - make an iwatch companion app!

Capable of so much more!. The app’s basic functionality works well: it turns on my SmokeFire grill, downloads firmware updates to the controller, and has plenty of recipes to make and follow. The interface is not the most intuitive, but you’ll be able to poke around and figure it out. There is a bug in this current version: I get a double notification whenever the app sends one out. “Manual temperature reached.” I push Dismiss. “Manual temperature reached.” Push dismiss again. Does it with shutdown functions and other stuff as well. Annoying. One feature I wish it had is temperature graphing that the Weber “iGrill” app has. I used this feature all the time so I could watch my brisket hit the stall temp, etc. Anyways, if you guys can iterate this thing a few more times, it’s going to be a great app.

Good start. Please update so it can be used in landscape mode and an actual iPad app. I use my iPad in the kitchen in landscape and this app would fit right in. The video is too small to see on the iPhone in vertical mode. Otherwise, seems to be good start. I get my smokefire grill next week. I’ll update this when I connect it with Bluetooth and wifi.

Decent but could be the best grill app.. This is a solid user interface but doesn’t offer the same functionality as the previous iGrill app. It would be nice if this app included the time/temperature graphs that are in iGrill, as well as the ability to name timers. The multiple timer feature is great but becomes confusing if you don’t remember what they were for. I knew going into my purchase that this app wasn’t perfect, but I am a loyal Weber customer due to their quality products and excellent customer service, so I’m hoping they continue to improve the app.
