OpenTable Comments & Reviews 2026
Fair Review?. Overall? I am very happy I can reserve in advance and not have to worry about long wait times while on vacation. Good Job! However, the app to get you to “some” places are not accurate, and when I called the restaurant no one answered, which isn’t all of the OD App’s fault, but the horrible directions from their link to the restaurant in the app is an oversight that can be fixed. I did appreciate that when they contacted me in email to remind me it is courteous to cancel reservations (i.e., as I DID already try, due to no fault of my own or lack of effort) the context of their email left a tone that didn’t assume it was ALL the customer (my) mistake. The email left a kind of open, placing no exact fault on any one party as the email just went over the correct procedure to cancel for next time kind of thing. I found no negative remarks in my account as a result of this mix-up, which was how it should have went. This is why I am trying Open Table again, and still providing a good score of 4/5. Honestly 4.5; but that isn’t an option. Good App Overall. Fix these little quirks like, a direct link to the restaurant’s email account, so when someone cannot get through on phone, the company can go see what is up, and then can offer up the canceled seat in real time to another party on the waiting list; thus, leaving everyone covered, and common courtesies can be given between all parties.
Useless when searching. As other reviewers pointed out, when you know exactly which restaurant you want to go and when, using the app is a no-brainer - book, dine, and get points. However, when searching for future dates, for example, when planning vacation travel, is AGGRAVATING. The app keeps resetting to 2 people today. I like using map view to search, and I’d zoom out to widen the area, click “redo search” - a whole bunch of options pop up, but when you click on them turns out they aren’t available at the selected time and it literally just brings up all the restaurants in that area regardless of time and date you are trying to search. Developers clearly know of this issue, as it even brings up a pop-up box asking if you want to update your search to the criteria you set previously - but even after you click “Yes”, it runs the search and again the results are populated with restaurants that do not have availability at times you are looking for. USELESS! Fix this please!
Red Circle Inn Nashota, WI. Looked forward to going there this past week. Arrived last night for our 5:00 reservation. Impressed with the atmosphere and heritage of this place dating back to the 1840’s. The bar and bartenders were pleasant and the cocktails my wife and I ordered were very enjoyable as we waited to be seated. After being seated in one of the many dinning rooms, we were served a second round by our pleasant waitress. My wife ordered the pan seared Salmon and I ordered BBQ Ribs. While waiting for our food, our waitress walked up and said here is your relish tray which amounted to 3 prepackaged saltine crackers and a small bowl holding about 8 or 9 small green olives and some butter. My wife and I looked at each other in disbelief ! Relish tray, come on !!! My wife’s Salmon was then brought along with my Rib dinner. Her Salmon for $40 was not very flavorful and was served with Risoto, and if she wanted potato, vegetable, salad or bread, they were additional ala cart items. My ribs were tender and tasteful and came with green beens and mashed, but later that evening, what I ate definitely did not agree with me. $150 later, we ended up pretty much disappointed and most likely will not return, as there are better alternatives that we frequent like Palmer’s, Kurtz’s and Alpine Retreat that have better food, service and a dining experience. Yes they are expensive as well, but we have never left feeling disappointed as we did last nite.
Not as they were. Very disappointed with our dinner at Ruth’s Chris last night. They have stopped serving the wonderful house baked mini loaves of bread and instead are offering large Hawaiian rolls. Those rolls just don’t bring the warmth and flavor of the bread! Bring back the mini loaves please! I ordered the 12 oz ribeye and was appalled what was passed off as a $75 steak. Thin, with globs of fat surrounding it. It was greasy and had no taste. I only ate 1/3 of it before I realized it was so greasy it would upset my stomach. Totally awful piece of “steak”. The creamed spinach was more like cream of spinach soup. Very thin and again tasteless. Our waiter did not check back with us after our steaks were served - I would have given him a chance to try again with my steak but he cared not despite the fact he had to walk past our table to serve his other tables. I did have a conversation with the supervisor before we left the restaurant and I am to be contacted by the manager. We have eaten at Ruth’s Chris all over the US and in Canada. We have enjoyed the dinners but something has really changed at this point. Extremely disappointing that one of our Special Places is no longer special.
Missing info, no human to reach. I’ve been using the app for 7 years and never cashed in on any points. They either expire, which I don’t think should ever even happen…or seem out of reach for anything good. I still use it a lot for the convenience of making a reservation. I just went on and all of my reservations are gone! Including one I made that it’s coming up in 2 weeks…GONE. There’s oddly only 2 old reservations showing from 2019 (I have made well over 50–100, including at least 3 in the past month. So all my points are gone too. It takes so long to accumulate points and now I have zero. There’s no one to talk to…they have some bot who “helps”, only if you ask exact questions- none relating to my issue. I’m so annoyed. Honestly, I’m over the app at this point and I’m wondering if there’s another similar one. Seems like a scam to get me to think I’m gonna earn something for using it. Where’s the customer service? How do I get all of my reservation history back along with my points?
So good we are going again.. We arrived on the Big Island on a Sunday, so of course our first dinner was Monday. We chose The Fish Hopper and were not disappointed. Service was great (thanks Jardyn)! The clam chowder is absolutely delicious-the cup is great as a appetizer but if you share you’ll regret it! The poke nachos are tasty but the portion is tiny for the price. The fish and chips was not over coated with batter crisp fresh and not greasy. The Parmesan crusted Mahi Mahi was fresh and delicious. The shrimp and beef skewers were good, although my son loves shrimp and it come with 2 skewers of beef and 1 shrimp(he would’ve preferred 2 shrimp 1 beef. I had the scallop risotto-the scallops were cooked perfectly the risotto was creamy with good flavor (I preferred To add a little salt). The cocktails and mocktails were also very tasty. Like the title said “so good we are going again” For our last night on the island!
A must visit Winery that serves food.. As soon as you step in was welcomed with sample of wine. Presented with drink options and then was able to walk around and see what items they had for sale. Unfortunately we didn’t plan this part better and enjoyed the wine experience more. Next time. Off to our reservation we had quite a mix of food. Shrimp Rosotto which was amazing. Chicken sandwich that was listed as a favorite which was also good. The turkey burger though was of a softer consistency and not like a traditional patty. It was good, but not what we were expecting. They did exchange for a regular burger which turned out to be great. We decided after a couple more samples each to indulge in monthly membership and will definitely be returning. It’s amazing seeing all of the wines they offer from their own branding it’s pretty overwhelming actually. But now with a membership we can try them all.
Speechless. I’ve become embarrassingly a regular hahah and even though in my brain i feel like i spend to much on food in general i can honestly say ive never regretted paying the bill at Roka Akor. Not only to they provide exceptional service indoor but on wends they also provide valet to make the experience even more luxurious and memorable. I have spend almost all anniversary’s, birthdays and special occasions (Mother’s Day, Valentine’s Day etc) here and am NEVER disappointed. The staff is wonderful and the food is amazing. I live in old town so it’s a good 20 min drive for me every time and not have i made the commute but have even door dashed it and the quality is always the same. There events are amazing i did there mother day even and they presented my mom with a $25 gift card as a thank you and a please come back. I’ve spent Valentine’s Day here and my girlfriend was presented with free valet and a rose upon entry. It is very surprising that they don’t have a waitlist and are always available to make reservations even day of. I can honestly say this restaurant as a whole is UNDERRATED! I will continue to bring friends and family here and they will always have my business. With the lifestyle i live i am blessed enough to have dined at very high end places such as ocean 44, Mastro’s, Toca madera, Dominick’s stack house etc. and they fall along the same profile with service, food and experience. Don’t waste you’re time, please try this place out! Definitely one of my favs in not my number 1.
Management. The environment of the restaurant was beautiful—truly amazing. However, the management was unacceptable. I have never felt this way about a restaurant, but it is clear that the management team either needs to be retrained or closely observed. I would like to start by saying that my server did her best. I could tell she was overwhelmed and that the workload was a lot for one person to handle. It was also apparent that there was no sense of team-style service. I even noticed that when my server tried to speak with management, they appeared visibly annoyed by her. As management, patience and support should be a priority. What truly set the experience off was an allergy issue. The Brussels sprouts were served with peanuts, and when we brought this to our server’s attention, she was very attentive and apologetic. She informed us that she would notify the manager, who would be coming over. However, before this even occurred, we had already waited 30+ minutes for our appetizers. After that, another 30+ minutes passed before our entrées arrived—only for the food to be served with pork, which we had specifically asked about in advance and were told there would be none. We arrived at 8 p.m. and did not receive our food until the kitchen was closing. Despite this, the general manager never came over. He never checked on us, never apologized, and never acknowledged the situation. What made it worse was that I could see him through the clear glass, watching with an unpleasant expression on his face. He was aware, yet made no effort to fulfill the basic responsibilities of management. When I finally spoke with an assistant manager, I found him equally unhelpful. He did not offer any meaningful support and simply stated that the general manager had already left. His tone suggested that the issue carried no urgency or importance. This was unprofessional and deeply disappointing. I am highly upset, not only because of the lack of accountability, but also because we are members. We frequent this restaurant often, and on this occasion, we brought guests for the first time after recommending the establishment. Unfortunately, the experience turned into an embarrassment.
OpenTable: Simplifying Restaurant Reservations for Everyone.. The OpenTable application is one of the most convenient tools for making restaurant reservations. It provides a smooth and user friendly experience that helps people easily find and book tables at restaurants of all types from fine dining to casual spots. The app allows users to search by cuisine, location, and available time, and it also shows helpful details like photos, menus, reviews and ratings. The confirmation process is instant, and reminders make it easy to manage your plans without calling the restaurant directly. Another advantage is that many restaurants update their availability in real time, so users can trust that what they see is accurate. The app also helps travelers discover new dining experiences in different cities. It would be a great addition if OpenTable could introduce a loyalty or rewards program, where users can collect points for every reservation and later redeem them for discounts or special offers. Since the platform already connects people to a wide range of restaurants, a reward system would encourage more frequent use and benefit both customers and restaurants alike. Overall OpenTable application is a reliable and well designed app that simplifies dining reservations and enhances the overall restaurant experience. Thank you very much.
Reservations are a joke here!!!. May reservations for our anniversary and we made it to the restaurant at 7 PM which hour reservation was at 7:30 PM. When inside and was told that they were two hours behind and they can give us a wait time. It was people that made it there for their 6:30pm reservation still waiting an 1hour and 40 minutes later. Even though the host was nice she couldn’t answer not one of my questions. Still had to pay for Valet, which was crazy when the restaurant didn’t honor their reservations. (Which I didn’t mind to pay the valet) I called ahead of time to make sure that everything was going as planned because I was sitting in the long line trying to valet part and I was told to come in to check in and after they parked the car I was told that they couldn’t get us in. I understand being short of staff, but yesterday was ridiculous just for a party of 2. I would never make reservations here again. They really need to come up with an new system to honor there reservation guest. We end up making reservations at Dakota’s steak house while sitting and waiting on our name to be called. Dakota’s took us at 9:30pm and sat us as soon as we made so you can see how long we sat and waited. It was overly crowded didn’t give the vibe from the website very loud.
Good for ideas, bad for reservations. OpenTable is great for looking for restaurants in the area and finding ideas, but they don’t verify/authenticate their information. I’ve only made two reservations with them, and one the first restaurant we showed up early to and had to wait past the reservation time. The second restaurant wasn’t even there. We drove for over an hour for a restaurant experience and the address was a city council building. We walked all around the building and surrounding buildings, asked for directions from another restaurant (they didn’t know of the one we had a reservation at) and we called the phone number OpenTable provided and they confirmed the location we were at was correct. Then OpenTable sent an email saying we missed the reservation. Extremely frustrating and disappointing to have a rare outing that was planned for weeks waylaid because they don’t check their information. Won’t book through them again, but will look for restaurants using the app, but only to book through the restaurant itself.
Amazing experience for all the senses. My boyfriend and I had a beautiful date night at Salt & Cellar. As we do not drink alcohol we so appreciated the beautiful mock tails, he ordered Into The Woods which was a green juice with shaved chocolate on the glass sitting on a bed of moss with mushrooms and a dry ice mist that is created with the server pours water into the moss bed activating aromatics and essential oils. I ordered a Moon (something?) which was watermelon and lavender and it was delicious!! Our server Matija was so sweet and accommodating, we took his recommendation for the appetizer and loved it and then enjoyed some vegetarian options. After dinner Matija so kindly gave us a tour of the amenities at the hotel and offered to take photos for us. It was truly a magical night to remember and we are so grateful to Matija for making it extra special for us! We will definitely be back to enjoy for of the vegetarian menu and experience different delicious mock tails! Thank you again.
Great authentic Mexican flavors.. This was our first experience at Buena Vida, and it was fabulous. We are a Latina-American family, and it’s tough to find authentic Latin food in this area. Buena Vida does a terrific job of blending fresh flavors, with a modern twist. I have lived in Mexico, and this is the best we have found in the Northern VA area! We did our best to try as much as we could:) Corn tortillas with queso fundido were delicious. Hangar steak is a winner and melts in your mouth. Chicken enchiladas were out of this world with a perfect blending of exquisite flavors. Shredded pork enchiladas are great. Guacamole is as good as any in this area. Sweet potato is yummy. Branzino increíble! Short rib is tender and perfectly brazed. Potato flauta with leeks is a vegetarian option that is really good. (And there were plenty more veggie options we didn’t have room to try!) The Pork belly is also good. And I could go on and on. And can you believe that you get all of this for $35 per person! As much as you want??!! The service was outstanding. Our waiter was very good, and checked in on us frequently. He knew how to describe the dishes well. The busboys were very good - which is not always the case! They literally did not make a single mistake all night. Water was filled frequently. They brought us clean Plates and silverware as soon as we asked.... So we give Buena Vida a 10/10, and will be taking our family back on Saturday for dinner! Felicidades to the entire staff!
It’s getting annoying. I like the concept of this app and fully support the idea. It gets as difficult as calling the restaurant, though, since I have to have many of these apps and I can remember who is on which app. But I digress, because that is not the direct problem of these programmers. What IS a direct issue is that it appears my account keeps getting deleted. I had an account, it even had points on it, but I didn’t use it a ton, because it is expensive to go out to eat and there aren’t a lot of restaurants near me that use this app. I went on a few months ago and tried to sign on, but the app prompted me to create an account. Okay, annoying and I lost my points, but okay. Then about a month ago, same thing. At that point I had 300 points. Now, they’re all gone and I have a new account when I had a reservation on the previous account. I actually had to call the restaurant, because despite the fact that my credentials were the same none of my points or previous reservations were there. Thankfully, the reservation is still booked at the restaurant, but it’s getting to the point it isn’t worth it to me. If I have to call the restaurant anyway, why use the app??
Location improvements needed. This app is great for booking reservations, but searching for new restaurants in specific areas is always so frustrating. In Chicago, there are distinct neighborhoods, all with an abundance of delicious restaurants to try, but on open table you wouldn’t know this based on how their search function operates. I’ve noticed if you search and select a specific neighborhood, example: “Lincoln Park”, the restaurants shown are not in the Lincoln park area at all, and even show their location as “west loop” or “river north”, so it’s not that the restaurant has put the wrong neighborhood, it’s the APP that is showing sponsored restaurants in far neighborhoods, over restaurants in the neighborhood I’m specifically looking in. This is incredibly frustrating because if I’m trying to find a new place to try in my neighborhood, but open table insists on showing restaurants across the city, even when I’ve tried to search in my neighborhood, then I will not see open table as a reliable source to suggest new restaurants.
Great for both the restaurant and the customer. OpenTable is a fantastic platform that has revolutionized the dining experience for both diners and restaurants alike. I recently used it to make a reservation at a local restaurant, and the entire process was seamless and user-friendly. The interface is intuitive, making it easy to find available tables, browse menus, and read reviews from other diners. One of the highlights of using OpenTable is the ability to earn points with each reservation, which can be redeemed for dining rewards. It’s a great incentive that makes dining out even more enjoyable! I also appreciate the detailed information about each restaurant, including their cuisine type, ambiance, and customer ratings, which helped me choose the perfect spot for my dinner. Customer service is top-notch as well. When I had a slight issue with my reservation, the support team was quick to respond and resolved the problem efficiently. Overall, OpenTable enhances the dining experience by making it convenient and rewarding. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to simplify their restaurant reservations!
Be careful how you use this app. They are sneaky. Its ok for reservations but the sneaky developers just added a toggle for you to ‘opt-in’ on receiving points. Then they make it difficult to redeem. Far cry from the original concept and the app developer actually treats you as the enemy rather than streamline and make it easier to use. They change terms and conditions often requiring to keep an eye on uses. Make sure you are awarded your points and keep your receipt. These folks make it very hard to collect points if the restaurant forgets to credit you. 2019 Update: this company makes it so difficult to redeem points, gift points that it makes you wonder why you even use the app. To the Developer: your Customer Service, responses, replies are very poor. Either use a call center and stop hiding behind email or watch members drop you.
Thank God this place opened in our neighborhood!. All I can say is WOW WOW WOW! We came here for the second time (first time yesterday) and still the same review! Fresh homemade food served as described, but even better! The past two days we have almost tried everything and took food home to go! Amazingly, delicious food and it’s going to be hard not to drive by and stop no matter what! I recommend the calamari, hummus, pizzas, the lamb (doesn’t matter burger or the entree). This place knows the proper cooking temps on the lamb and the “Mediterranean” is truly “Mediterranean” if you know what it should taste like! Also, the talent within the restaurant is professional, well-versed on the menu and the wine list. Customer service is definitely a 5+ along with the food! You have a diverse variety of food to choose from such as pasta, pizza, seafood and it’s all amazing! A must try and you will be hooked! Seriously, it is one of the best restaurants in the valley!
Totally Bloated. At first, I thought all the reviews and photos and “Yelp” like stuff was cool. But the reason I was using the app was to make a reservation, and that’s where things went south, at least compared to earlier versions of the app. Long story short, once you’re on the restaurant detail page, there is no clear way to make a reservation, or there are so many other options that it’s confusing. I ended up “saving”, thinking that would “save” my reservation, but when I showed up at the restaurant, all I got was a snarky gen-z hostess refusing to give me a table (even though there were a half dozen open tables in sight and only two reservations on her list). I’m not happy with Cane Rosso, but I also understand snarky teenage hostesses are all they can afford. I’m very unhappy with how bloated open table has become. Especially since I clicked on a link on Cane Rosso’s website and it took me right down this rabbit hole. It may have something to do with the fact I was on mobile and had to turn it sideways to get all the options. I know it can work, last week I followed the same procedure with Tupelo Honey and my reservation was seamless. Not the same experience with all restaurants, and that’s a problem, especially when you’re with your entire family, your starving, and the hostess could care less. In conclusion, this app needs better implementation across all restaurants and the need to simplify the restaurant detail page.
Our Favorite Sit Down Restaurant. We are happy to live near Van Rensselaer's Restaurant. It is our go to for a wonderful meal and it doesn’t have to be for a special occasion. Their menu suits us perfectly - the mixed seafood grill is always so perfectly prepared. Last visit it was tuna, seared on both sides and warm in the middle that melted in the mouth, swordfish that was tender and juicy and so fresh tasting, and shrimp cooked just the way I like them. It's a hard decision to choose from their menu, as they prepare salmon and other fish in a number of ways so you can make a choice. Salads are satisfying and served in an appealing way. And then dessert. Oh, my. Once you’ve tried their toffee Kailua chocolate mousse cake it's impossible to order anything else, if you’re a chocolate lover. Don's favorite is the crime brûlée and their carrot cake is made on premises and is legendary. This will be the last weekend that they are open until spring so we are reserved. Thank you, VR’s, for some wonderful meals this season!
First time visit, Dinning Professional. (Yelp). I travel the world and have the opportunity to try different restaurants and food places in some really cool places but this one was tough to rate. We ordered the following to get a broad taste of what they had to offer. The shrimp cocktail was a 0 out of 5. Needs vast improvement. Acme frozen jump shrimp is a 4/5 compared to this. The soup was plain chowder with crab and was really good. 4.5/5. The oysters were ok- small, but good 3.5/5. Keep in mind i work in the seafood industry. Bread was good but the butter was just ok. 4/5. The wings were less than ok. Lacked everything. 2.5/5 Old Causeway wings need to come here. You know what I’m talking about. 😊 Now to the entrees. I had the salmon over a bed of rice with lobster mixed in. Really good. 4.5/5 Young lady had the Black Bass over a bed of corn and zucchini. The fish tasted ok and the beds of corn was really good 5/5 but the bass was a 3.2/5. The drinks we had were old fashion and elixir de flor. Old fashion had no muddled fruit/ cherry but tasted good. 4/5. The elixir tasted good and the young lady that ordered it gave it a 5/5. We don’t observe any GMP failures or cross contamination. The waitress came back several times to check on us. Last thing- the atmosphere is amazing. You won’t find a better place to come have a drink and meet some friends. Very welcoming and warm atmosphere. Will be back and look forward to trying other items on the menu.
Customer needing assistance without response after several attempts to email.. I have been an established VIP with open table Based on my dining history, reservations, always cancelled before and never once missing a reservation from Palm Springs to New York to Miami …I had thousands of points I never cashed in and even have current reservations but for whatever reason they won’t respond to emails and I’ve every concerned bc my app says all the sudden I’m a new customer with no benefits and no dining history which is false and the app is not working and again no response after several emails and no customer service number that I could not find …I’m losing hope and my open table was like a timeline off all my notable dining experiences and part of my life and just don’t understand how they cannot address this if they would look they should be able to see my phone number, name and all info is the exact same but my vip established account has disappeared. If I don’t hear from them I will never use them again and only use Rezy from now on. I even took time to post dining photos and rated restaurants we dined. Very sad for me if they can’t provide me with the much need customer service and I pray this gets handled. And I pray they do the right thing a get my true account back up and running. I’m a very loyal customer so, open table please advise.
OpenTable “Collect Dining Points” Toggle. I have been an OT member for many years. Until recently, there has never been an issue with my successfully collecting dining points at a participating restaurant. But over the last several reservations I’ve made, I noticed that I wasn’t collecting points. I did some digging, and I finally noticed that there is a setting under my profile for collecting points that had inexplicably been turned off. (Hopefully, this isn’t a strategy to minimize the number of points collected on OpenTable reservations.) It’s a fairly obscure process to find where the setting is located. In addition to this issue, I’ve been finding that reservations I’ve tried to make at restaurants both locally and when we’re out of town frequently seem to have no seating options at a time that we choose. However, when I call the restaurant directly, magically there ARE tables available during our desired timeslot. This whole experience lately has soured me on the app.
Open Table and Apple Update issues. So I used to love using OpenTable because of the points that you can earn for certificates. However, for the last 2 to 3 times when iPhone updates have occurred, my settings have change. The button that asks if I want to earn points has become “untoggled” each time. I do not sit on my app and look at every single setting and particularly for this one. It should be defaulted to earning points and then if you don’t wish to earn points, you can opt out. I reached out before because I noticed after a few dining reservations that I did not earn any points I was told today that I had exceeded the number of courtesies allowed on the lifetime of my account!!! Since when do courtesies expire or have limits attached especially when it’s of no wrong doing by the user? Not happy about this and do not have a problem going to the majority of the restaurants that we frequent on the regular, without using OpenTable if this is going to be case with them.
Generally excellent app, but skip their “waitlist“. OpenTable works really well for reservations. I have used it for years and have never gotten to the restaurant without my reservation being there. They do not have as good as selection of restaurants as they did years ago, and they cut down on the perks. I used to like to save my points to try a new restaurant but now this is not one of the perks offered. I recently tried to make a reservation at a place that was completely booked so I got on the waitlist. Reservations did come up but seconds later, before I could click on the notification, the reservation was gone. After this happened a couple of times, I ignored the notifications. other “openings“ on the waitlist were outside the time I had requested.. They should give the person at the top of the list a defined amount of time to respond. Not everyone is good at beating the buzzer. Period I found it Disappointing, and annoying. This is an otherwise good service, and I hope they will improve this feature for other people.
They do not check with restaurants - out of business restaurants still taking reservations. Open Table makes no effort to confirm your reservation. Multiple incidents of the restaurant having no record of reservation upon arrival. They also have lots of out of business restaurants still listed on the app and you can still make reservations only to arrive to a boarded up business. There is no way to actually contact them. They do not stand behind their bookings and you the customer will be the one out of luck when the restaurant turns you away or is closed. We learned this when we arrived to a restaurant from out of town only for it to be closed when we arrived. This was for a large 70th birthday dinner and we were not able to find anywhere else to go last minute on a holiday weekend with a large party. It was really disappointing and open tables response, after being practically impossible to even contact, was they are not responsible for know if restaurants are still operating. It turned out the restaurant had closed 3 months prior to this, so it wasn’t even a recent or sudden closure.
Needs upgrade. Opentable is obviously good for getting a reservation. However, it lacks big time in restaurant discovery. Sometimes I want to find a few interesting places in my city. When I start searching the default setting is for a reservation right now, in 30min or whatever. This obviously means a lot of places don’t show up. Searching neighborhoods is a nightmare on this app (a lot of missing neighborhoods), you basically have to use the map, which defaults to the above setting I mentioned and is cumbersome to use. There is no info on new interesting places. Again basically there isn’t a good way to discover new places (unless you want one — right now lol). If I had to remake this app, I would make the map much more about discovery. You open the map, and it shows your entire city blanketed with restaurants. You would have an easy way to drill to a neighborhood and wouldn’t have to keep pressing “search this area” (how can you put something so cumbersome in your app?). Markers would be color coded or whatever based on various things- if it’s a high end place, if it’s a casual but really good spot, If it’s a new place with buzz. If I had it my way, the “favorites” would be a separate tab that you can access immediately and when you open the map, you can push a button to just see your favorites blanketed around the city. The recommendation engine needs to change so it stops giving me recommendations just in my neighborhood in my city. In the age of Uber I can go anywhere in my city to eat. Anyway, just some thoughts as I facepalm because this app is ok but could be so much more. There is no good way to do restaurant discovery today on any app. Try googling - that’s a whole separate nightmare.
Performance beginning to degrade. I’ve been using OT for ages, always had awesome experiences but today it was a train wreck. I was trying to dine at the Galvez Bar and Grill in Galveston Texas, after an hour and too much trouble with the wait staff we decided to leave and go at a more reliable restaurant. I tried to use OpenTable to make a reservation and OpenTable said “want to modify your reservation”, I said “yes”. Opentable popped up with “Call the restaurant”. I was one hour into dining. “Hello” Did the app not connect I had already been checked in? The restaurant checked me in on the app. By now I had already told the restaurant I was leaving. I tried to book another restaurant Gaido’s in Galveston Texas but the Open Table reservation would not process. Got to the they said you don’t have a reservation. Tried to reserve again and OT insisted I call again. So I called again spoke to The Galvez they said they were cancelling. Still the OpenTable app would not let me cancel. After dining at Gaido’s the app does not show Galvez Bar and Grill since it is cancelled and Gaido’s never got logged. The tool was built to simplify, but now they have changed the way their data is managed and so they have broken the process. It was a good many years but I believe OT is about to lose a very loyal customer, not willing to go through OT hassles.
Spins and spins and shows open reservation that is canceled. This app is useless. It used to be good. I booked a reservation and invited people and it notified them of the invites but then it didn't bother to notify any of them that I canceled the reservation. It also didn't push any notifications to me and didn't text. It sent an email. Who wants an email when PUSH and TEXT are turned on. When I canceled it did the same thing. My cancelation confirmation was NOT texted or pushed to my phone, the app just sent an email. Who wants email when a text is so convenient? N O B O D Y! Additionally, on the Home screen of this now totally useless app, it shows the reservation as still being open and confirmed, then it blinks and flips to reservation canceled and it just keeps spinning and switching between open and canceled. I logged out and shut it down. Same issue. I check all settings and everything is as it should be. I checked for an app update. There is none. I waited a day and tried again. Same issues. App is useless and I am tired of playing a guessing game. If I want a reservation I will book through the restaurants from now on. This app is unreliable and it's more work than it's worth. I had to contact everyone on my guest list to notify them our reservation is canceled. Terrible!
Useless without way to update contact info. The app is useless if there’s no reliable way to update your contact info so restaurants can confirm your reservation. I missed my Valentine’s Day reservation (they called to confirm using an old phone number I cannot update in OpenTable) because the app failed to update my phone number after changing it on both my mobile and desktop versions of the app. Customer service said they’d manually update the phone number after our attempts to troubleshoot the issue failed. A few days later they let me know they deleted an old account OpenTable account of mine that I wasn’t using. They didn’t change my phone number and—not surprisingly—deleting the other account did nothing to fix the issue. I understand the wish to troubleshoot, but after resolvable attempts have been made, that’s not the customer’s job and if the app doesn’t work for reservations what’s the point?
Fancy Night Out-No Reservation. For a company that specializes in dinner reservations, it better work or what is the point? Right? I made a reservation for a restaurant on 2/16 for Saturday 6/9 just to be sure we could get into this nice place. 2 days before I got a confirmation reminding me about the reservation. Our party of 4 showed up, only to find a sign on the door that said the restaurant had closed on 5/27. All decked out we stumbled around town to find the only upscale place that would take us. Turns out there was a party of 12 in there who had the same experience. Imagine a party of 12 scrambling around to find a table in a small wine town? Easily Open Table should be on this, and send a note. The restaurant could as well, however if they’re closing/ closed who would do this. While I would normally not give any place just one star, this is the 2nd time I have had this happen with an Open Table reservation. The first time was on New Year’s Eve. There have been no communications from this app regarding this unfortunate experience. I would recommend that all restaurants who take Open Table reservations start working the front desk themselves and stop paying their fees. I would recommend all diners to trust the telephone more. You may be the next. Do not trust this app to be 100% reliable.
Lack of Transparency. For the first time since using open table for several years, I was unable to cancel a reservation through the app. I made a reservation around 10:30 in the morning and my group decided they’d rather eat at another restaurant. I went into cancel within minutes of making the reservation and it said I would have to call the restaurant which I did immediately. There was no answer so I left a voicemail and sent a message to them through the app. As of 3 in the afternoon, I had tried calling several times , left another voicemail and a couple more messages through the app with no response Meanwhile I can’t reserve dinner at another restaurant through the app because I still have the old reservation at the same time. I’m concerned now that they will charge me as a no show since they haven’t responded- although there is no mention on open table for charges related to no shows There is no mention on open table about the restaurant reservation policy so that maybe I would have had a heads up how difficult it is to cancel. If I did I would have never made a reservation at this restaurant in the first place I’m also frustrated that there is no way to get a hold of an actual person on open table to get help removing the reservation. Just an automated chat that sends you through an endless loop which keeps ending up with contacting the restaurant as the solution. Well open table the restaurant doesn’t answer their phone or return calls!!! In the end I may just have to delete my acct
Agree with the downgrade comment. Will no longer use the app because it will not let me log out from one id (FB auto login) and attach to my primary account. Very frustrating for people who travel for business and keep reservations separate due to need to share accounts with a personal assistant who shares travel planning responsibilities. Have deleted the app and FB and adjusted settings multiple times. Additionally, no way to report error in the app. Sad because have been a long-time and 5-10 rez per week user. Also really do not like the front page interface of the new upgrade of app trying to sell me on a vignette. This app was a decision support system-oriented piece of software used for more than answering the simple question of where should I eat. Any internet search can provide that with more meaningful information. Using an app like this should solve problems faster than a random internet search or a map search. Dining rez solutions deal with location, time, cuisine type, and price - not how do the pictures on the landing page make me feel. This app *slowly* but surely was able to hone in on viable options before the latest upgrade. Now, it takes an objectionably long time to get through the silly fluff. It forces out your time/location requests if there are no results in order to present you with options even though they won’t work because they don’t meet the search requirements. This is a waste of time for the user. I will only use the Open Table site on computer now. The app is dead to me until these issues are fixed.
Not a bad app, but no communication with real people running it is bad bad bad. Since this is apparently the only way to offer feedback on the technical side of things, here we go. I like OpenTable, the app runs great in its function, however I work at a restaurant that uses this booking platform and there is a way for clients to capture MORE bookings. If the search was a filter option to at least search for a time frame of multiple hours, maybe even across multiple restaurants, guests would see WAY more booking options. Example: 7o’clock resos are almost impossible to snag at Spinasse, so most people think we have no open tables because they have to search by 30 minute increments at a time to maybe find a slot that is open. It is a waste of time for the guests and for clients on OpenTable who still spend a considerable amount of time taking phone reservations because of the platform issue.
Improvements made. First of all, who are these people detailing the restaurant’s tilapia and their server ignoring them on what is supposed to be the Open Table app review?! This is not Yelp, folks. This latest update resolved my ire with the searching. We can FINALLY search for restaurants in San Francisco in its entirety. For a long while you had to specify a SF neighborhood when looking for an available restaurant i.e. 3 people at noon in the Mission, San Francisco, CA. Every other city, you were able to indicate and search by just the city name all except for SF. Looks like the capability has returned. But scrolling through the list of restaurants was and still remains to be both annoying af and difficult as where my finger lands to swipe up or down to move the page up or down, it’ll attempt to drag and drop that restaurant as a link to a message whether text or email. Why anyone ever thought that would be a good idea when everyone in the app is using a touch screen phone is beyond me. Can we get that fixed, please?
Good App But Suspension Policy is an Issue. The OpenTable app works great and the concept of it is really great too. The major issue is the suspension policy they have. While missing reservations is not great for the restaurant, as someone who’s worked in the restaurant industry, it is typically easy to fill voided reservations for customers waiting to be seated. I’ve use open table many times previously and missed one reservation way back in June where I was over “my limit.” I don’t frequently miss these but apparently enough for this suspension. It’s now been 3 months and I’m still suspended. Surely restaurants are missing out on more business by OpenTable monopolizing reservations and suspending people from making them for months at a time than the restaurant missing a reservation and just backfilling it with their waitlist. I know many people who have the same issue and have to choose other restaurants that don’t use OpenTable so they can get their reservation. I just use Rese or book through Google because of this but it’s a big issue for the user and the restaurants.
Missed out on coveted booking spot. While I do find this app very helpful to explore new dining spots and make reservations easy, I encountered a ruthless flaw in the app this morning. I have been on a ”notify me” waitlist for WEEKS to score a cancellation opening at a highly coveted location that is booked months in advance. The few notifications I got, even though I was able to run to the app to snag it, was gone within the 40 seconds I tried to grab the spot. Today I just so happened to have the app open when a notification came in for an opening. I ran to grab it, it was still open, but the app wouldn’t let me book because I already had a reservation for that time elsewhere. Yes, I made another booking as a back up since my chances of getting into the other location were slim. BUT to simply NOT allow me to double book myself when I would have canceled the back up booking is insane. I get not wanting people to double book, but instead of NOT allowing me to proceed with the booking, just tell me “FYI you will be double booked - proceed anyway?” Is an easy fix. I was trying to get notified for openings for today, so now I’m missing the intended window. Cool, thanks.
Danny Scarpellino. We are huge fans of Tre Scallini and have been for years. We try to eat there every Saturday night and love it. We have a favorite wait person named Kellie who makes the night extra special for us. We sometimes have guests with us but mostly we go alone as our date night. We are never disappointed with our meal or the service. If you haven’t tried Tre Scallini then put it on your must do list for sure. We’ve been through nearly the entire menu but the specials usually are our first choices. Always a nice, no a great fresh fish special or a great steak. One more important thing to note about this place, it’s elegant and that’s a quality in restaurants today you don’t see much anymore. Elegant dining has become a thing of the past and it saddens me. Going out for dinner on a Saturday night used to and should still be the highlight of the week for couples. When I was growing up my parents went out on Saturday night and it seemed like all the restaurants were dress up and were elegant but today it’s all about casual dining and dress. Tre Scallini is all about a special night out and a place you can certainly dress casual for but if you like to get dressed up for Saturday night dinner this is the place you won’t feel like an outcast. Most men wear a jacket and many wear a tie too. I don’t wear a tie but I do like to wear a jacket. Years ago, especially in NYC if you didn’t have a jacked one was provided for you by the maître d’. Today’s restaurants don’t even have them anymore but this place does and it’s a nice touch. At Tre Scallini the maitre d’ knows all the regulars by name and escorts you to the table with a hug and a handshake and a big welcoming you greeting. Valet parking is another lost touch but Tre Scallini has that too. So overall it’s a great night out in style and grace and great food.
So Easy. Whenever the opportunity arose to have dinner with friends or clients and I “signed up” (got stuck with the responsibility) to make reservations - I was unfortunately that guy who inevitably called very late in the process to make reservations. This resulted in lousy tables, zero availability, and/or complete changes in venues and plans. My job, like so many others, is not ideal for making calls, relying on human interface, and locking in a reservation in the middle of the day. It’s a challenge for folks who work in fast-paced environments like emergency rooms...IT operations centers...service stations...or virtually ANY retail entity to find a window during business hours. If I found a window to call, it was either before or after business hours. Rarely did I call during the work day, as other things took priority and the idea of sitting on hold or being transferred around the restaurant encouraged me to procrastinate. This app changed all that. I can make a reservation at any time day or night. No humans involved. Any special requests like anniversaries or birthdays can be submitted with the reservation, and I’ve never had an experience where the restaurant did not get the special request or message. Canceling or modifying reservations are a piece of cake. Adding or subtracting the number of people in the party, setting up reminders, or adding notifications are easy. And lastly: “Double-booking” by mistake (or intentionally - trying to game the system and hose over other patrons) by making two or more reservations at the same time at different venues isn’t possible. Love this app.
Making a Confession. Had the opportunity to check out Confessions Houston this weekend and I’ll say this the vibe and ambiance are definitely top tier. The atmosphere gives upscale Houston nightlife mixed with a modern dining experience. Great music, beautiful setup, and the energy in the building makes it a solid spot for date night, birthdays, or just getting out with friends. The food was flavorful and well presented, but Chef Randi’s brunch menu really added a personal touch to the experience. You can tell there’s passion behind the food, and the brunch dishes were excellent from presentation to flavor. The fried lobster with French toast was outstanding, the jalapeño chicken biscuit was packed with flavor, and the black squid linguine pasta dish was absolutely delicious. The cocktails were on point as well. What also impressed me was the hospitality. Manager Victor made it a point to stop by my table personally, say hello, and thank me for supporting the business. That level of customer service and appreciation goes a long way and makes you want to come back. If you’re looking for a restaurant/lounge in Houston that combines great food, drinks, brunch, hookah, and a grown, upscale vibe all in one place, Confessions Houston is definitely worth checking out. I’ll definitely be back.
Musical Chairs. I thought I would be writing a 5 star review tonight but that all changed with how we were treated by the wait staff, they completely ruined what was a great date night. My girlfriend and I have eaten at Mykonos Meze several times in the past and had a great experience however our last visit was a complete disaster. We were moved by the staff not once or twice but to 5 different tables during our visit just so they could sell the 4-seat tables to larger groups. When we arrived for our reservation we were told by the hostess we could sit and wait at a small cocktail table while a larger table came available, which sounded great. While sitting for a few minutes a 4-chair table came available and a waitress came by and told us we could sit there, but as we were moving to this 2nd table the hostess came by and told us it wasn’t available now and we would have to move to the shared counter. When we went to the counter (3rd table) there were 2 plates but only 1 seat for us to sit on. We informed the hostess of the situation and waited another few minutes standing over the counter for them to bring an available chair. Instead of bringing a chair a waiter told us to sit at a newly available 4-chair table (4th table). We waited for the table to be cleaned then sat down and after sitting for a few minutes another waitress appeared and told us we would have to move again to a 5th table because our table was reserved to another group. At this point we were quite miffed and lost our appetite so we just decided to leave and eat at home.
Great but poor support. I have used Open Table for years very successfully for business and personal dinners of all sizes, places and locations. So what’s the problem? Trying to change email addresses has been impossible. The on-line process sends endless repeated questions in a never ending loop. Found a real person chat (not the AI chat you start with) who said he would help me but he suddenly dropped off with comment “I will send an email and tell you that it’s fixed.” Email never came and the email did not change. Soon my old email will stop working and I will be unable to contact OpenTable or their many restaurants. There’s no apparent phone number and a simple quick conversation would solve this instead of endlessly sending the same questions over and over by their sad AI chatbot.
Good App, but Needs Improvement. I love the convenience of making reservations on this app, but I’ve given it 3 stars as it needs some improvements to go from good to great. OpenTable is great as most places use it, but if a competitor were to come up with a better user experience, I’d switch in a heartbeat. 1) Needs functionality to redeem points for dining coupons electronically. It’s 2018, why can’t I get a barcode that can be scanned at a restaurant? I tried to redeem points last weekend and it said to go to my desktop...some folks don’t even use a desktop outside of work. This is a huge miss. 2) Needs a better layout of local restaurants and navigation. I’ll search for local restaurants and after listing a few, it jumps to those 20 miles away. I’m in a huge metro suburb and I want to narrow in on a certain town and not get mixed results with places far away. I go out a lot and do a mix of city and suburbs but for folks not familiar with the area, it could be deceiving. For example, searching for something close by and you see an interesting place and don’t realize it’s further than you wanted until you click on the restaurant to explore.
Great App, But Shady Rewards System. I have been using OpenTable for a while, and I love the convenience of booking reservations at my favorite restaurants, especially since I can earn Dining Rewards along the way. It is a great incentive to keep coming back. However, I have noticed that the ability to collect rewards has been turned off a couple of times, which feels a bit shady. This is especially frustrating when I specifically choose restaurants that participate in the program. If rewards are advertised as a benefit, they should be honored consistently. The app itself is user-friendly, and I appreciate how easy it is to find available reservations, but OpenTable needs to be more transparent about why and when rewards are disabled. If this issue were fixed, it would be a flawless experience. If you are not earning points, check your settings. Go to the upper right corner and click on your profile, then select “About You.” Scroll all the way down and toggle on “Dining Points.” Hopefully, this helps others who have been missing out on rewards.
Redemption of points earned. We love making reservations through the app and earning points. It’s so easy to find and reserve time slots for our favorite, tried and try restaurants as well as new ones to try. However, redeeming your points and actually using them are quite a different story. After a very lengthy and difficult process of redeeming the points we earned through making reservations with Open Table, it turned out that the restaurant that we chose to use the redemption certificate didn’t have a clue as how to use the credit… and pretty much washed their hands of the responsibility of doing so.. stating that even the manager couldn’t figure it out. So, we left without using our certificate… which was disappointing. Needless to say… I have this wasted certificate that apparently I cannot redeem. It’s making me think twice about using this app due to this situation.
What a mess.. I've had this app for about 5 minutes and I'm ready to delete it. I booked a table on my desktop and it asked me for my email address for the confirmation. Then it said to open an account to keep track of the reservation and have me the option of logging in with Google (which is different than my email address I used to send the confirmation). So I went to my account and sure enough the reservation isn't there. I try downloading the app and guess what? No option to log in with Google on the app. So I go back to the desktop to change the password because my Google password doesn't work on the "log in with open table" option. I get into the app, no reservations. I go to the email confirmation I received and click on change/view reservation and it of course takes me to my profile page for the account with no reservations. So I click on add to calendar and invite Google email to my own reservation. In the account I get a notification that I was invited, and then accept. Then I click on upcoming reservations and there are no reservations. And the alert icon is still red letting me know I was invited to my own reservation.
Affordable, Upscale Chinese in Lexington. An early (5PM, after an afternoon matinee theater performance) dinner at Shun Lee was perfect. The decor is upscale, modern —marble and leather— with touches of red, gold and black. My husband and I both began with soup: egg drop for him; hot and sour for me. Excellent. For the main dish, I chose Double Cooked Pork and asked for the addition of some stir fried veggies. The result was fantastic—lots of colorful veggies with pieces of cooked pork—and bacon!— in a pleasantly hot sauce. My husband was equally pleased with the his beef dish. Both of us had fried rice which was a delicious brown rice with peas (no crispy fried bits or egg I associate with fried rice, but delicious). We ended the meal by sharing an ice cream wrapped in rice paper dessert served with whipped cream. WOW! It was kind of like having ice cream mixed with cookie dough. My husband had a light beer and I had a glass of white wine—a generous pour. The check was very reasonable. I can’t wait to go back and try other dishes.
Horrible customer service, unethical charge to my CC. I’ve been an OpenTable user for years however today will be the last time I use their service. I made a reservation (which included a credit card charge for not showing up) that I then needed to cancel, however OpenTable told me the only way I could cancel the reservation was to call the restaurant. I tried for hours to call the restaurant but their phone number was disconnected and it never went through. I contacted OpenTable customer support and they refused to help me and told me they could not control cancellation of my reservation. They repeatedly told me to contact the restaurant yet agreed that the phone number was disconnected and that there was no other contact method available. The customer service agent was extremely unhelpful and just kept telling me to call the restaurant, which again, did not work. It’s extremely unethical to allow a reservation to be made through your platform with a credit card hold and then be completely unable to cancel it. I will never use OpenTable again.
Terrible. I love Benihana and all I wanted was to have a great experience here on my birthday. The food was good as we ordered the 5 course specialty and the Wagyu steak meal to take home with us. Jacob the chef did a fantastic job entertaining us as he prepared the meal. The waiter was a hit or miss. Fast forward to us arriving home checking our Wagyu steak meal, we are missing a couple of important items that make up meal. We called the restaurant immediately and asked to speak to the manager, after going through and explaining the situation to three different people before we finally got the manager, he gets on the phone with an attitude. He argues and over talked us while we were trying to tell him the situation. He didn’t want to take care of the situation, he didn’t apologize for our order being messed up, he didn’t and still doesn’t want to reimburse us for our inconvenience. Bottom line if you eat here and place a to go order, please check it before you leave. The manager here is the worse. I really don’t like leaving reviews but I felt this was warranted when we spent too much money at this restaurant.

Make dining reservations super easy!!. Hi having access to Open table and all the information included on all of the listed restaurants makes the viewing and booking reservations a treat. Thanks
Coffee club Nepean river. The people that work at the coffee club are first class always happy and friendly and welcoming the food is excellent.I was served by a young girl always smiling and friendly I think the girl name was Olivia she is one of many people there that make you welcome.
Great variety & easy to use. Using open table is very convenient. I find all my favourite restaurants on here and this make book easy every time I want to find something new.
Not so open. Apparently they send out no show emails and delete your account if you don’t attend. Never been a no show and never received an email but account was deleted, feel sorry for the restaurants relying on this app for their bookings
Janie. We had an excellent meal at Hogan’s on Mothering Sunday. We booked last minute through the Open Table app. Will definitely use the app again and have already booked to go again to Hogan’s at the end of May.
Fratilli Fresh. On arrival the booking system said for 4 when our reservation email said for 2....this might have been a bad omen. They wanted our order in a timely manner but it fell apart from there. Our mains arrived, before our appetisers & and way before our wine. There was chaos while they tried to sort it out. Sending our mains back was a mistake we should have stayed with disorderly arrival if food. Food was ok but not up to what it had been on prior visits. Hope it was just a bad night, but we won’t be back in a rush - they just didn’t care. Food not good either!!
Carmel & Darryl Pitman. We have enjoyed quite a number of lunches & Dinners with family & friends since the Banyan Restaurant opened, we frequently visit the club & all the staff are wonderful friendly & very considerate people, the restaurant menu is of excellent quality, I think I have tried the whole menu, so would love to see the rack of Lamb return, & love the new pork chop, love to try more new dishes. We would recommend this club to anyone. 😃👍🏻👍🏻
Stupid. Stupid app makes me click 3 times to only then tell me the time is unavailable in the area of the restaurant I want. So more clicks to tell me the next time is also unavailable and in an on until I get an availability later in the evening. What the hell doesn’t it just show me the times available for the area I want rather than the other way around.
Changing my booking. The app allows you to modify your booking but never seems to change the actual booking in the end. No feedback or options to complete the update just “done” and nothing changes? Very annoying when the place you’re booking your night with won’t answer their phone because they’re relying on this technology to do it for them.
Very pleased. Love using OpenTable. Makes bookings easy and I don’t have to stress about trying to call a busy restaurant. Wish all everywhere used it!
App never works. I’ve tried several times to use the app to make a booking, but there is always a server problem or a password problem. I’ve only ever been able to book through open table by deleting the app and booking as a guest online. Lots of work to do before I’ll try and install it again.
Buggy app. This app is always a pain to use, interface is clunky and never gets better. Also malfunctions. I was trying to add my review photos, but progress got stuck on 3 of 6 photos. I tapped the progress to see if I could retry, but the status just disappeared and there was no way to view, continue, or restart the progress, nor edit my review to add the missing photos (disabled).
App has issues. Booking system is fine. App itself is a great idea. However when you sign up after booking you have never allocated yourself or been allocated a password. Attempted reset password which didn’t email any of my inboxes. Emailed help desk who couldn’t help at all. So now I have an account that has no password that I cannot access.
Inconvenient scheduling. Doesn’t allow you to book back to back reservations within two hours of each other so you can’t say have drinks at one place before moving to the next . Also doesn’t allow you to book more than five people at our chosen venue I had to call the restaurant . Pointless app for groups and no flexibility.
A wide variety of choices. Open table have covered every restaurant booking option one could ever think of. You can see the style of food, location, distance, menus and most important if there is a free time for your reservation.
Warning: Lots of notifications!!. Helpful for reservations but be warned you’ll get lots of notifications and pop ups asking you over and over again to confirm your reservations, then reminding you, then harassing you for reviews. My phone is filled with OpenTable notifications. I can’t disable it because o need to be notified of waitlist requests.
Great app!. This is a really good app for seeing what’s available around you! We stumbled across some lovely places to eat which we usually wouldn’t tried thanks to open table! Its really handy if you decided you wanted to eat out at short notice you can see what’s around, especially now post lockdown the majority of places is booking only!
Can’t change the booking name. Whenever I make a booking, it doesn’t matter what name I put the booking under, the system will ignore the name I add and use the name on my profile. I book for several managers and I need to keep changing my profile name to being able to book under the specific manager name. I avoid at all cost booing any restaurant who uses open table
Great app!. This is such a good app- anytime my friends say “where should we go for dinner” I just open this app and put in the time and area we want to go and boom, a heap of options for us to choose from. Then it’s super easy to share the booking with people (a bit like Airbnb) and t share to my Apple calendar. 5 out of 5!
Sensational. This is our second visit in 12 months - not bad for Brisbane folk. So good we have just booked again - good enough to go twice in two weeks. Food is amazing and the service is sensational. Claire our waitress had a thorough understanding and played a big part in our wonderful evening.
Wild canary lunch booking. Took me 3 times backwards and forwards for the passcode. Phone and email. By the time return from email. The booking link disappeared and restart again twice.
Average. Firstly app couldn’t connect to the server, then gave the spinning wheel of death which meant I had to cancel out of the transaction, then wouldn’t accept my initial credit card which meant I had to go through entire booking again with different card. Frustrating experience considering I was trying to book an expensive restaurant.
Restaurant convenience. Details all in one place and ease of use for restaurant bookings main pluses. I also like that you can go back and see the history of eating places.
Lockdown. Not very happy to get a message saying we didn’t turn up for a booking when we are all in lockdown
Open table use. This must be the best booking experience I have had as a very frequent diner and booking on-line. Very user friendly!
Found some great restaurants. We have some some great ‘new’ to us restaurants in our local area that we would never have found otherwise.
Too many glitches. When putting in birthday you have to select 9 for it to come up with 8. Couldnt find my favourite restaurant in the saved section, then when I clicked save on that restaurant in the booking section, it didn't appear in the saved section.
Don’t sign up for the Signature Dish. Lunched at Crows Nest Garfish recently and regrettably ordered the Sri Lankan Fish & King Prawn Curry. It was underwhelming, lacking in flavour and the fish was undercooked. It tasted tired. The sting in the tail came the next morning when the post prandial crook guts kicked in. The culprit turned out to be a pathologically proven bacterium that can grow in seafood as well as poultry (not on the menu). Was ill for days afterwards and will be giving this venue a wide berth in future. Never going there again.
Cannot live without it!. Honestly a god send. I no longer have to trawl to internet to find what restaurant is available at a certain time/date
Service was meh!. I have always love the wine store/ European but today wasn’t the day. They waitress was rude, and ehh, I think wiping her noise while speaking and watching her eat behind the bar was just a step too far. She also forgot items we ordered and just seemed like she didn’t want to serve us or be there. We had to ask for our drinks after food arrived, ask about the dish missing, ask for dessert after sitting there for some time. Unfortunately the service let the whole team down as there was other staff that where delightful and I know she was the difference between average and a great experience. The food was good over all. However, it use to be better, when ordering cheese you once had a selection of bread and biscuits, some quince paste and maybe some walnuts, it set you apart but today just bead cheese and dried grapes, it’s not the standard I expected, having had better in the past.
Difficult for me to use. Unable to get confirmed booking. Then had to provide credit card before I was sure what I was trying to book was available. The bit was no help. The person connected to the bot was semi helpful but couldn’t book it for me rather sent me back to the app with step by step that I already couldn’t use
Double identification not working. Wednesday evening I had 7 or 8 attempts to book table. Receiving mobile verification worked quick. Then having to book with email did not. Hopeless and waste of time. Frustrating and if it did not work this time I was going to go back to old fashioned way of phoning restaurant. Needs attention
Restaurants closed. Booked a restaurant/bar on the app for New Years Eve for 9 pm thinking we could welcome in 2023 with a cocktail. Received a text from Open Table asking me to confirm the booking which I did. Arrived to find the place was closed until 13th January. By then it was getting fairly late for dinner. We were disheartened but looked on the app to see another restaurant nearby had a 9.30 time slot. Rang to check and they told me that had already closed. I’m not sure how this could happen. Very disappointing.
Terrible. As an EA I book restaurants all the time. I always enter my email address to receive the confirmation of the booking. When booking a restaurant through Open Table it doesn’t take any notice of the first and last name you enter in the fields required. It seems to take an old name I first used with my email address. Therefore every time I make a booking the first & last name are wrong, I then have to contact the restaurant to correct the name of the booking. It’s quite frustrating that the app/website takes no notice of the fields I have enetered. I have given this feedback & complained to open table but they said every email address is registered with a name. I don’t know what the point of having a name field in a booking is for when it totally ignores this. I wouldn’t recommend open table, I only book through it if I have no other choice.
Convenient. Easy to use, especially as so many places still require booking post COVID. Every booking has worked and you can often make specific requests for positions or inform that I will be bringing SED in training.
Pepper berry. What a fabulous restaurant we have eaten her 3 nights in a row and the food has been wonderful! Very happy to recommend staying at the Hilton Darwin just for the lovely staff and the incredible food.
Breakfast. We live across from the lodge in Fraser Road, So perhaps you could call us locals! This is not our first time dining.. it’s actually our 4th.. the meals took longer than normal.. and not all our breakfasts came at the same time, our over the rainbow milkshake was missing a straw which I had to chase up as no one was available to ask, the sunny coast toast description said tomatoes however there was only half a tomato, the ration of avocado to goats cheese in this dish was significantly noticeable, the kids pancake was delivered incorrectly (plain) but soon rectified, full viewing of the chef preparing meals showed the chef lady’s facial expressions to be somewhat other than happy… this experience won’t effect us in dining in the future however our previous experiences have been far better than this.
Easy to use Booking site. I have used Open Table for booking tables at a number of Restaurants- easy to use and it feels secure. And I get confirmation and reminders. What’s not to like!
Great time saver. I’ve used open table for all my Resturant bookings before going on our USA trip a month ahead, it’s great when you know you have a packed time table on any trip, confirmation is quick and you can get reminders and updates, it’s fantastic for when you don’t want to miss out on popular dining spots or when your doing multiple cities in a short time frame
Just too easy when booking a dinner reservation. This is the fastest and easiest way to Mae a dinner reservation. It’s become the only way I book a dinner out
Quick and easy to book!. I’ve booked a number of restaurants through Open Table. It’s quick and easy and saves a phone call. The places I’ve booked with have always had our table ready so can recommend this service.
Toorak Hotel. Initially only a 1700hrs reservation showing. Tried ringing direct on a number of occasions with no answer. Once credit card details placed in open table, found many time slots. Not sure what this is about? We do enjoy going there for dinner quite a lot. Good service & food.
Ruined Christmas Day. Wish I could leave zero stars for this app. Booked a table for 5 at Urchin Bar. Open Table isn’t synced to the fact the restaurant is closed, instead sending me email reminders of my wonderful upcoming booking. What a glitch, this app is irresponsible and left us all without food on the most important day of the year. Will be notifying the restaurant to remove their patronage from this app.
Changes reservation times. I will never use this unreliable app again. For the second time it changed my reservation, there is no 17:30 to be selected on the app, however somehow it will change my 7:30 selection to 17:30. Two date nights had to be cancelled last minute due to this, embarrassing. Stick to other avenues, I’d stay away from this app.
Glitches. Good app but lately lots of glitches that could be fixed. Won’t cancel a booking I made, flickers back and forth between booking/cancelled booking on the home page. It also doesn’t remember the specific time I’m looking at for reservations and resets after I’ve clicked on a restaurant, which is annoying when I’m trying to find a place on a specific day.
Painful. Should be easy to use - would not accept my credit card on PC or iPad had to “try” and book 3 times ….would only work in my phone better NOT be charged 3 times !
Easy way to book Sydney restaurants. I enjoy using this app as it saves me time by allowing me to look and book local restaurants quickly.
Easy to use. Open Table is simple, all your details are online, including past restaurants booked. All you have to do is choose a restaurant, add the date, no of people and time ....... takes the hassle out of choosing a restaurant.
App has a malfunction in restaurant search. Made a RSV, no booking was sent to the restaurant. Turned out i booked the same name of restaurant in USA. But this restaurant is still showing under Brisbane , even now. Opentable ruined the special dinner night. No wonder people use DIMMI, deleted the app. Opentable admitted the malfunction and mistake, but no further action. Very disappointed to open table staff how to manage the issue and their unprofessionalism. Dont use this app
One of several options in Australia. Good app and I have used extensively in the US where it seems to have much greater market penetration. Was always super convenient when exploring and booking dining options, especially when I was away on conference etc. Doesn’t seem to have penetrated Australian market as well but still worthwhile having on your phone and having an account as an option, and your account will also work in those other countries where it does cover more of the market, so handy if you travel eg to US (post COVID😃) if that ever happens again

App not at times. Have used lots, but recently terrible problems with Azure Ridge invitation option. None of my guests can utilize after 4 attempts over different days trying. Initial booking through the hotel. Maybe this is why?
Wow. Facile d’utilisation!
Kudos for simple security. Love the simplicity of one-time passcodes for logins.
Restaurant reservations. Easy to book 👍🙏
Excellent food, great service. Had Mother’s Day dinner here. Great appies, steak mains were on point, cheese cake was worth the calories.
Great App!!...Use it often!!.... Has always worked great for me!...
Seamless. Always fast and reliable
Over the Top. This app would not allow me to add 2 guests. It onky selected 2 guests. You ask for aLOT of personal information. Why my email address ???? Why my location ???? I wanted a Keg across town. I feel a little violated and over exposed with all the info I had to give you. And the time in my life I cant get back. Ease up would you ?! I realize this is a First World problem, yet I'm asking you to streamline. Thanks. On with my life.
Convenient. Great app with great up to date availability. Restaurants have always honoured the reservation, and the reminders are great (options for text, email and in-app)
Wildfire Grillhouse. The service here is excellent. Hailey and her co worker worked very hard. The restaurant was busy and they managed to keep all of their diners happy.
Good experience. Always easy to access
Cannot find server. Hmmm, can’t imagine what kind of bugs you had before that needed fixing but you appear to have one heck of a big one right now where your app can’t find its server on either iPhone XR or iPad gen6. Kind of pointless
Does it know. I don’t think this app has any idea, the distance of a restaurant is huge
Easy and Convenient. This has saved me a lot of time. I don’t have to call anyone. I can do it myself.
Great app. Open Table is a terrific app. Efficient, easy to use, provides access to all the best restaurants in town. I’m never unhappy when a restaurant website sends me there.
Best app. Love this app makes it easier to know we have a table when we want to go out for dinner . We don’t have to stand in line and wait . Love the reminders we get as well
Si cancellation. Bonsoir S’il y avait une annulation pour nous offrir plus tôt ce serait apprécié! Merci Rob
Love it. Great app
Just work. Simple and straightforward
Open Table. Our reservations ALWAYS go well on Open Table! Thanks!!
Bugs in recent release. Since the latest release, I can no longer see all of the reservations booked through the application. For some reason it is only showing certain reservations well into the future and not those in the next week. I can see these linked to my account on the web when I login that way, but the web is not the preferred user interface for me or the company itself it would seem. Needs an update to fix.
Get worse every time I use OpeTable. Gone are the days of quick simple to use table booking service from OpenTable. After you defeat the multiple layers of double and triple confirmations, you’ve forgotten why you use this App. Use your same smart phone to call the restaurant for a table. It’s way easier! Costs the restaurant less too.
Fantastic. Use this app all of the time, easy to use, get points to spend on dinners!
Makes it easy. One-stop shopping downtown reservations
Dhoom. Best Indian food ever. Beautiful dining room. Impeccable service. Kunal and Eshal were amazing. Can’t wait to come back and recommend to everyone I know.
Easy is great!. I have been using OpenTable for securing dining bookings for the past 4-5 years. I find it very easy to navigate, excellent response, and am able to quickly secure table reservations no matter where I am whether in Canada or the United States. I highly recommend this service to anyone looking for a quick easy way to make reservations.
Excellent Resource. Love using the app to research and book restaurants. The only issue I have is leaving a special request. Many times it does not register directly with the restaurant itself.
Easy booking system. You can trust guest food reviews! Easy to locate restaurants quickly!!
Open table app. Easy to use and saves me time
Convenient. Simply one word ‘awesome’
Points expire during covid. Very disappointed that open table is continuing with their policy of removing your points with 12 months of inactivity given that during covid it has been physically impossible to dine in for much of the last year. All around bad form to treat your users this way.
Great app!. Easy to use. Some points as well which make it awesome.
Love OpenTable!. My go to for any meal. It’s the Netflix of dining out!
Easy and flexible. Open Table is making the whole process of finding and booking restaurants so easy! And nothing is set in stone - if you changed your mind - no problem- cancel or modify with no headache at all! It saves tons of time and provides with great flexibility!
Best app!. Love this app, strongly recommend.
Peak Fine. We have dined several times at Peak Fine but for the last two nights we were blessed to have Laurie serve us. What an excellent experience. Laurie is an outstanding asset to this culinary community. Very professional, knowledgeable and just a pleasure to deal with. Bruce Bidinoff
Date night. Great atmosphere
Sent confirmation for wrong date.. Sent confirmation for wrong date.
Great app. Thank you so much for inventing this app. Makes my life so much easier.
WTH. when I try to find a good sushi restaurant in my area (New Westminster) there are no results in my area even though I know there are many sushi restaurants around here! On top of that, it shows restaurants in Vancouver, Richmond and beyond. How the hell am I supposed to get ratings in my area?
The app does not always work. On two occasions I have used Open Table to book. When I arrive at the restaurant they do not have my reservation. That puts a real damper on the evening for ourselves and guests.
Simple yet powerful reservation app. Very easy to use but packed with info allowing to make informed choice when booking.
Multiple bookings. This is App is incredibly easy and convenient especially when coordinating a huge group
Great. Super app with rewards
The Keg Toronto. We always come back to The Keg for exceptional service and quality of food. Love the atmosphere too!
Lunch lady hits the bullseye again. Love this place. Consistently very tasty, good quality food. Great place for all ages including young families.
Montanas. Excellent
Perfect. It was very easy to fill out. Very quick.
Helpful. I find that OpenTable is very convenient and helpful tool when making reservations online because it lets you know what times are available and it also prioritized restaurants based on where you have frequently gone Recommend that everybody uses when making reservations if the restaurant does OpenTable because not all restaurants do.
What happened to my reservation?. No confirmation and not showing!

Get me a Reservation w/Ease!!!. This is the third time I’ve used OpenTable to get a reservation within the last month now that we’ve gotten through so-called the holiday season and gosh I don’t think I’m ever going to get a reservation another way. This has been fantastic; it’s easy it’s quick all verified by text and email and again blow and go is the bottom line we’re all wanting to save precious time whether professionally or personally time is so important and of course not having aggravation in the process so I have kudos to a great product and will highly recommend this to friends and family, as well as any colleague or client if the opportunity rises
app does not redeem points. App is good for quickly and easily finding reservations but useless for redeeming points. Customers are directed to go to the open table website. Once that is done, after clicking the redeem button that is supposed to send an email with link to redeem, nothing happens. Points are just added back to the account. It has nothing to do with password or cookies. I tried a different fresh computer with the same results. I also spent over a half hour on the phone with a customer service rep who could not remedy the problem. Administration has created a system that has devalued points from when I first started using the app many years ago even if they could be redeemed. Can it be they owe more points to diners than they want to distribute? SCAM? FRAUD? Yelp and google search offer more options.
Ok but harder to advise others now. Another example of a poorly managed "upgrade " / modification to a popular app. It used to be so easy to send a message to your guests with the info. There was a little arrow clearly visible and presto. Now you need to "add guests" and it appears you can only do it as a text, not an email....what if you don't have their mobile number, which often occurs with a business associate. Also once the message arrives, whether a text or something else, it should have an Outlook/ other calendar option so you/ they don't have to manually add the info to their calendar. These should be easy and obvious things but seem to have been overlooked.
Slowly squeezing the Value Out of this Service. I’ve used this app for many, many years. It was always excellent for two things. First, no matter where in the country you were, the app identified great restaurants. Second the rewards program was icing on the cake. You accumulate points by reserving meals through the Open Table app. Initially, those points could be used to acquire $20, $50 coupons at participating Open Table Restaurants. The rewards program morphed over time. Now points generally have far less buying power. For better restaurants, the discount can be half of what it used to be. More aggravating is that redeeming your points is like pulling teeth from a snail. I’m looking for competing services.
Chef Timothy Johnson BBKing’s. My husband and I were celebrating our 36th anniversary and we would like to give a special shout out to Chef Timothy Johnson and his entire crew in the kitchen! The food was OUTSTANDING!! Everything came out on time and picture perfect, not to mention everything was delicious! From the ribs, to the roasted chicken to the Cajun chicken pasta everything was Delicious! Our server was amazing as well! The atmosphere was very laid back with a down home vibe. Needless to say we had an awesome time while enjoying great food, entertainment and good company. Again a special thanks to Chef Timothy Johnson for making sure we were well taken care of! We recommend BBKing for any special occasion!
New App does the most.... ...and that’s not a good thing. I can’t even scroll down to view restaurants without being interrupted by the app asking me something about saving “it” (whatever “it” is— restaurant) in messages? Then the restaurant listing detaches from the list and moves around causing me to stop what I’m doing and restart my scroll OR I have to be extra careful about my finger placement in the scroll. Stick the the basics and make the app smart, instead of forcing needless features on users. I absolutely have started calling restaurants so as not to have to deal with OpenTable’s app (sad bc I was an avid app user). The inconvenience and annoyance is not enough for me to want to go back into the app.
Wonderful Wedding Anniversary moment at Merchants. My wife and I are visiting Nashville again and decided to have dinner at Merchants on Broadway. The staff was wonderful as they always are, and kept apologizing for how long it was taking. We honestly hadn’t noticed and didn’t think it was taking long at all, we were just enjoying watching the people walking outside up and down Broadway. The manager talked to us on several occasions (and brought one of favorite items, the spiced sweet pickles) and then surprised us after dinner with a wonderful Happy Anniversary card signed by the staff. We will remember how gracious everyone was to us on our 27th anniversary. We highly recommend stopping in and visiting this Nashville landmark. Thank you to everyone at Merchants!
One of my most used apps - since 2005. UPDATE: I just realized an old review was up from years ago. I just erased it. Apparently, I was in a cranky mood - probably during a major app upgrade. Here’s the thing. It’s now 2019. I’ve been a loyal OpenTable user since 2005. The problems I had with the app, in the review I erased, were fixed years ago by OpenTable. And I have continued to be a happy user of the service. I just realized I owed it to the company to improve my review to match my satisfaction with this service. Following is an older, glowing review from who knows when. Everything I said in this original review goes double for the latest iteration of the app. Thank you OpenTable for years of great service. "I have been an OpenTable user for years. I depend on and use the service constantly. This latest iteration of the iPad app is terrific. Location service, reservation, and calendar coordination are working seamlessly for me and I love it." I don't remember when the first app appeared. It wasn't THAT long ago. In fact I have used the OpenTable platform on a laptop almost since its original launch, and was an OpenTable enthusiast as much as I am a restaurant and wine enthusiast.
James Gee, Maitre D, at Al Biernat’s, Oak Lawn Restaurant, Dallas. When I want fine dining and a friendly atmosphere, I always think of Al Biernat’s Restaurant on Oak Lawn! Now they have added a terrific new colleague, James Gee, whom is truly a great match for their wonderful team! James is always so attentive and he makes you feel like family when you walk in. I particularly like the way James gives extra special attention, by taking the time to post social media photos of himself with his guests in front of Al Biernat’s signage. James always tries to be so helpful and thoughtful in every way; and, from here forward, it will be a pleasure to call him when I need special dining arrangements, etc. Thank you James, and thank you Al Biernat’s, for being on my “favorite list” of maitre d’s and top restaurants in Dallas!
Invitees Broken. The contact support option sent me to a generic OT support website. I made a good faith attempt so use the chat tool since you cannot submit a ticket. The chat tool was a bot, so I’m left with leaving ye olde app review. The current version of the app where you invite people to your reservation via calendar invite, that piece is broken. Quick steps; make a reservation, tap the calendar add in the top right, attempt to add invitees, it asks for permission, accept, add invitees, nothing comes up in search, tap plus button to add them instead, contacts do appear here but you cannot add them either. I don’t like to write these in App Store reviews but without a reporting option, this is their acceptable method I guess. Tried other apps since and invitees works fine.
Read this review. My friends and wanted to go eat a STK restaurant. I went online to find reservation details, and had to download the open table app. I created an account and found the restaurant via the app. After a while I was able to make a reservation at 7:30pm, and got my confirmation. When we got to the restaurant it was closed! (Another victim of the Covid crisis) This place hadn’t been open for months, but Open table was still taking reservations. While outside the restaurant, trying to figure out what had happened with the app, I noticed something strange. Somehow the app booked me a reservation in Mexico, at a restaurant with the same name! In Mexico!! I gave permission to the app to use my location, and we were nowhere near Mexico, but it made us reservation at a restaurant over 3000 miles away. Even if I had a F-15 fueled and ready to go, I couldn’t possibly make in time. The app totally failed, if you own a restaurant there are much more effective ways to do online reservations!
Never again. I made a reservation through Open Table. When I went to cancel it through the app, it never appeared on my list of reservations even through the link in an email they sent me. I figured the reservation did not go through. A couple of hours later I received an email from Open Table telling me I had made them look bad with the restaurant. After sending them a clarifying email, they replied they would make an exception time and remove the “no-show” from my account. The app didn’t work and now they are sending me nasty emails??? Never again. I will simply pick-up the phone and call for a reservation. Open Table is full of themselves.
Fast & easy booking, with diff restaurant recommendations. Using open table has been very useful in booking & finding restaurants! I use it every time I will be dining out & need to book, or if I’m looking for a restaurant near by they have many different recommendations WITH photos! It’s not like yelp where you have to login to see photos or read reviews. With open table they’re viewable to anyone. Open table reduces your wait time due to having a reservation, but sometimes it’s hard to reserve through the restaurants webpage and/or by calling. Very convenient, I recommend it to my friends & family. They’re also very fast at responding to inquires.
A hidden gem!. Don’t be fooled by the location. This is a wonderful Italian restaurant. I was in Bristow for a week, wondering where I could get a decent meal. Open Table made me aware of Tortino Mare. The location is a strip mall - the food is WORTH THE TRIP! The dining room is pleasant. The menu offers good choices. I started with the fennel and beet salad. Beautifully presented, with olive oil, walnuts and cheese. While I was tempted by the swordfish special, I went with the lamb chops. Delicious! The balsamic glaze made me lick my fingers! Even the gelato dessert revealed an attention to detail. And, a special shout out to my server, Javier, who was well-aquatinted with the preparation of the food, and knew how to make a guest feel welcomed. While I don’t come to Northern Virginia often, this place is definitely on my “must return to” list!
T54. The wait is finally over! Massimo and Antoinnette’s attention to detail are obvious the moment you walk through the door. Bright decor and the aroma of homemade Italian Cuisine is pleasantly inviting! We ordered several appetizers from the menu beginning with the Burrata, Sticky Ribs, Shrimp Cocktail, Calamari and my favorite, the Grilled Octopus! For our next course, we ordered a variety of different entrees including Filet Mignon, Faroe Island Salmon and Rigatoni Bolognese which is Grandma’s Recipe! Everything was cooked to perfection and the staff is incredible! We have already made reservations to return to tackle the already famous T54 Burger! Do yourself a favor and order the Espresso Martini, Trust me, you won’t be disappointed! Bon appétit !!!
Great way to make and track dinner plans. The new interface took a little getting used to but the app still works great. It is easy to search restaurants and times. One feature I would like to see added: search the next availability for a specific time. This would help with really popular places that always seem to be booked. ---- Update: this is still my go-to when I want to make a res. It used to be easier to send a notice of the reservation to others from within the app, but now they want you to link other party members which presumes they have the app themselves. Now I just wait until I get the confirmation email and forward that. I used a $100 reward a couple years ago and need to claim another.
Accruing points should not be optional.. I very much like using Open Table & periodically check to see if there are any additional restaurants in the area that are affiliated with OT. It’s very convenient & quick to use. More restaurants should use it. However, I haven’t used the app in a while until I went on vacation & wanted to make a reservation. I was in a hurry & did not take notice to the option to earn points, and of course missed earning points. It makes me mad that I missed the opportunity to earn points for that reservation. This makes no sense to me whatsoever. Why wouldn’t I want to earn points? Of course I want points! And if it’s optional, then it should be turned on by default. If someone doesn’t want points for some reason, let them be the ones that have to opt out.
Privacy violation. There’s nothing more annoying than a business entity that immediately has your information to marketing email lists. I made reservations like I normally do after finding a restaurant on yelp. By the next morning, I found that I had been subscribed to all emails by OpenTable even though I was already unsubscribed previously. each time you make a reservation, you have to make sure you’re not signed up again. The excuse of, “you can always unsubscribe or change your preferences,“ is complete and utter bulls$&t because by then, your information has already been marketed. this business model Hass to end.
Reservation O easy way !. This is the easiest way to make a reservation, for people who don’t make reservations all the time. When you use open table you find all kinds of different restaurants you didn’t even know existed in the area that you want to go eat or live in. I would recommend this app to anyone from a professional person who always has business lunches dinners to a person who needs a place To impress his date. Open table is the way to go I recommend it to everyone. And when friends ask him for a nice place to go eat I always tell them to to get the OpenTable app and you’ll be able to find any restaurant you want to eat it.
Creative and delicious with an open sexy bar.. I went last night after Pilates at G:50 down the street. Didn’t know their bar opens right up across the front, over looking Robertson. Great summer vibe. The restaurant is beautiful and everything I have eaten their every time has been exceptionally creative and delicious. To name a few items: their raw oysters and brine, lobster toast, Vietnamese inspired salad with avocado, korean inspired skirt steak, spicy tuna on crispy rice. I am eyeing their lobster pasta! At brunch they had an egg scramble in a bowl with black beans. I forget the name but it was delicious, healthy and a good portion. Different from others which I love. Covid safe with tons of patio seating and ventilation. I hope they do well and stick around. It is a nice addition to Robertson!
Don’t insult single diners. Please don’t say the more the merrier when as a single diner I’m making a reservation for a restaurant that still discriminates against single diners. First, It’s unfortunate that some restaurants still discriminate. In this day and age you would think not?!? Maybe say something like unfortunately this establishment only excepts reservations for two or more. I’d give a 5 star rating, because I enjoy the app. The whole the more the merrier is an insult like the middle finger in my face. Who thought that would be charming? Even so it’d be nice to know before I even attempted to make the reservation. Other than it’s a wonderful app and I enjoy using it outside of that.
Outstanding!!!. My wife and I have lived in SE CT for twenty years and have somehow never visited Ford’s Black and Blue, until last night. We had reservations at 6:00 and arrived a few minutes early. We were seated immediately upon arriving. Our server was friendly and fast. In fact we were very surprised at how quickly our appetizer came after ordering. The calamari was piping hot and delicious. After some debate, my wife went with the baked cod and I chose the lobster risotto. We often split and share our plates, and then choose who picked the better dish. This dinner resulted in a very rare tie. Both dishes were incredible. We both cleaned our plates, which is also rare. The portions were so perfect, we decided to venture into dessert. We picked the chocolate crème brûlée and key lime cheesecake. Again, both were amazing. We left Fords Black and Blue completely satisfied and happy. Our first experience was so enjoyable we have already decided to add Fords Black and Blue to our date night list and visit more often. Do not pass up a chance to eat here. You will be glad you ate at Fords. I personally cannot wait to go back and try more from the menu.
2nd chances. Looking forward to a delicious Greek dinner with my husband at Black Olive. I made a reservation for 7:30pm, after being asked if we had a reservation we were placed at table that was not set, even though many others were. Our waiter asked if we’d like wine glasses, although never offered us water. We ordered our meals, which were delicious as has been expected. Once finished, our waiter cleared our plates & said he was bringing the check without asking if there was anything else we would like (dessert or coffee) ? This same experience occurred last time we were there. Very unfortunate. The food is spot on, although the staff is much to be desired.
Disappointing. We are VERY VERY loyal patrons of this restaurant till today when at a last minute notice 5 members of our family unexpectedly came by to join us for brunch, not knowing that we had a reservation here but the hostesses would not let them eat with us or even split up in smaller tables, they said they would have to wait at least an hour so my 3 grandchildren left the restaurant in tears. While we were dining the booth next to us and table next to us were empty the entire time as well many other tables. The hostess/manager apologized for not letting our family join us and said she would give us free dessert, but she never did come thru on that so I guess she wasn’t that sorry. This will probably be our last time to eat there on a Sunday for sure. We should have just walked out and let cafe 501 have the table back for some other patron that walks in off the street at a last minute notice after church to have brunch with their family.
Best Meal Ever. We had a great time at Eddie V’s. Thank you “Amy” the manager for being so kind to us I hope I got her name right forgive me if I made a mistake. They remembered my Birthday, and I appreciated the personalized card, nice touch. But the meal, was truly incredible! Fresh oysters, new to the menu, set the bar high for excellence tonight. The filet was delectable, as was the special morel encrusted lamb offering. Coupled to perfectly with caviar, smoked old fashioneds, hope diamond martinis & delicious Cabernet all delivered by a wonderfully effervescent “Carly!”this made our night superlatively special. Five stars Carly & yes we went right home & got into our snuggly cloths & jumped into bed! Highest marks until next time, when we will bring family.
The Honeysuckle. Positive: great atmosphere and nice restaurant and bar area. Love the raw bar too! Negative: I was the only one sitting at the bar and barely got service from the bartender — I literally would’ve stayed much longer and ordered more if she would’ve just paid attention to me. I ordered the glass of champagne twice and it was warm both times — even after she “chilled” it; I ordered the duck— The Brussels sprouts were tasty but so tough it was hard to cut them, the grits were super yummy (a positive) , the duck was mediocre. I was disappointed overall as I really liked the ambiance. I think the bad service from the bartender was the kicker.. fake friendly when she was obviously annoyed with me asking her to chill the champagne, never filled my water, didn’t check on me and simply didn’t convey she cared.
Not very impressed with UI. Problems: 1) I mostly wanted to search by map, and it was very hard to find how to do that (the little icon is not great; using the word “map” would be better), 2) I was taken into OpenTable by some restaurant web site, but they did not have availability for that restaurant at the time I wanted, so I broadened my search. Took me a couple minutes to realize that the search results were for my home neighborhood, not the area (Hawaii, a thousand miles away) where the original restaurant I was trying to book is located. That’s an embarrassingly bad UI for such an old and supposedly mature service, I’d think. Combined with not making it easy to find the map view, one can waste a lot of time. Pretty sure I’ve run into this more than once over the years, the majority of times I have ever used the app.
Harder to use than desktop. I’ve been using Open Table on my laptop since the early 00’s and switched to the app about two years ago. They have a pretty big base of restaurants to choose from and I’ve discovered a lot of long-standing favorites as a result of exploring. My biggest complaint about the app is that the map search feature regularly resets itself when you try to zoom in too closely on a neighborhood. The overall navigation is a little difficult, compared to the desktop version, (which I sometimes pull up on my phone if I need to find something fast). It’s also not possible to redeem rewards on the app, which is frustrating. Their rewards system has changed to a less desirable redemption process as well, but I guess that is unrelated to the app itself.
Reservation times. Not exactly sure how to get this app to work. It starts by asking me how many people and what time I would like to eat and then it presents me supposedly with a list of all the area restaurants who have open reservations for that time. then what happens as I pick a restaurant and then it seems to give me more times to select, And then, when I pick one of those times which is the same time, I already told it it tells me there’s no reservations open at that time. So, I already told the app what time I wanted if I can’t have a seating reservation at that particular time I select, then I don’t want to see that restaurant. Could be there is a setting that I am not hearing correctly or correctly, but I think I understand how it works but it’s not doing what I wanted it to do.
Used to be great. Now complete failure. Somthing has gone wrong at opentable. “Servers down” constantly. Will not open app. Going to website also a waste. Asks for phone number instead of login email or older method. Never had a record of which phone I used to use. Created new account(s) without request. Failed to associate my name with my opentable account. Thought I was in San Franscisco and sent warning email that someone else was loging into my account. Booked a reservation but confirming email said I should open an account!! WHAT?? And still, app says servers are down (for days?). Yet can access the website using a browser, but still wont connect to my account.
Horrible app!. I have tried to make reservations. I was getting messages that the site was forbidden. (Note: I have never used OpenDoor before!) I contacted support. The “support” which is nonhuman tried a few things. I finally got a message that my reservation was a success. 2 days later when I went to check on something else, I saw that my reservation was not complete. So I tried again only to be told that my requested time was unavailable. So I tried again this time 15 minutes later and thankfully OpenDoor accepted this reservation. I took a screenshot because I just don’t trust OpenDoor. However, as stated above: I don’t trust OpenDoor, I will call the restaurant tomorrow and verify that my reservation has gone through. Thankfully, I don’t need the reservation until Saturday March 2, 2024. I hope a human at OpenDoor sees this and makes improvements.
Searching and Sorting Issues. As a New Yorker, I've found Open Table to be reliable for booking and discovering restaurants in most areas of the city. I am grateful for it, truly! Two problems: Starting a search for a particular locale doesn’t work well. Today I searched for restaurants near Lincoln Center NYC and suggestions popped up from Nebraska to near me, in NYC but far from Lincoln Center. This has been going on for as long as I’ve been a member, 2008 in fact. Additionally over the years, I've saved a long list “Favorites” that are listed alphabetically. The trouble is, they can’t be sorted or searched by cuisine, neighborhood, date of attendance, or price. And I can’t delete those that have gone out of business. Not helpful then really!
The best dinning app. I’ve used Open Table for several years. Our family vacation dinners are easily accommodated using this app. By using the 90 day advanced calendar there’s a sense of ease that we know we will be eating at some fabulous restaurants. This app has the flexibility to modify and or cancel a reservation at the tip of your fingers. You must keep in mind that as a courtesy, you must cancel on line or call to cancel. If your a no show your service could be suspended that is if you don’t have a explanation. The cool thing is you can earn points at some restaurants for future dinning experiences. Sign up today it will make your life easier.
Very convenient - rewards are frustrating. This service is very nice to use and a lot easier than calling places for reservations. Love using it! So far we have had no problems with the service. It appears the page to redeem your rewards is useless though... if you are going to have it only available on your website and through a specific link in an email, this page should be removed from the app. I also noticed that my dining rewards couldn’t be used on my reservations UNLESS I booked from the link that was sent to my email about my rewards. This is wrong. If I have rewards available, when I book a place it should show up. This is the second thing with your rewards that has become a tad frustrating. Now I have 2 reservations that I could have used my rewards at, but now I can’t because I didn’t use the special link…..
Used to be good. Been here a couple time. Came all the way from Yakima to celebrate our anniversary. Usually... the service is exceptional. This evening not so much. After the waitress akwardly greeted us. We ordered and the food came out. Seemed good at first. Then my wife discovered her salmon was cold. We let the (awkward) waitress know and she assured the food would be ready quick. I urged my wife to enjoy my warm plate of food and we finished it and honestly taste great. After waiting for about 20 minutes the waitress came back and assured us the food was only a few minutes longer. I am now waiting on the second mediocre drink I ordered. For longer than an upset customer should. Let’s see if the recognize the short comings... very under appreciated, underwhelmed customer.
Horrible. I have never written a review before but I had to do it. We live in Rittenhouse square and we go out to dinner almost every night. This experience was the worst. We were seated at a bar facing the kitchen. When I asked to be moved I was told that there were no open tables. There were 3 tables of 2 behind us and nobody sat there the entire time. So we were left to watch the chef pick his nails while I was looking into the eye of two dead fish about a foot away from me. The waiters kept on cleaning off the counter where they placed the food and push the crumbs onto our table. The chefs keep on stacking bowls higher and higher in front of the counter in front of us. I ordered a shrimp cocktail and it was in a bowl of what looked and tasted like a bowl of warm milk. It was so bad. Our waiter with the long beard and deep voice who shared with us that he was also a DJ was great. We will never go back here again. They should be ashamed of themselves, especially when the reservation was set about 2 months before
Removed the “add to calendar” option. This baffles me. Going out to a restaurant, there are a few things that are important - which restaurant, the address, the day, and the time. In the past, there was a button to hit that would put all of this information in my calendar. I wouldn’t even call it a feature, as it’s the most obvious thing in the world. Think of it like assuming that a calculator app has a plus sign button. If it lacks that plus sign button, you know the developer made a serious error. Guess what, the OpenTable people have decided that everyone can copy all that data in by hand. All the people complaining here and on Twitter are just ignored. Nice improvement there, guys.
Back to Freddie’s. It’s been awhile, but Morristown’s Restaurant Week got us back to Freddie’s Friday night. Because I waited too long to reserve, we took an early 5:30 seating. We were guided to a sectioned area of 5 tables where my wife and I were seated at a 4 person table. Very comfortable. And to our surprise, next tabled was shared by Freddie himself entertaining two old friends. And it got even better after that because we ordered our dinner. Took advantage of the MRW special. From beginning to end, it was delicious. Presentation was beautiful. Service was perfect. We’ll be back soon. And BTW, Freddie asked us if we knew any $$$ people who may want to invest in his heart’s desire, a fish restaurant. Well…if it ends up like Morristown’s Freddie’s, are you in?😉
Always fabulous. My favorite restaurant in all of Houston. She opened her first restaurant in the 1970’s on Sunset Blvd. Mom and I would have lunch there when I was in college. It was a small tea room - fancy for college for sure. She served spiced iced tea - it was delicious. Fast forward and Ouisie’s opened in River Oaks. Our boys were young and learned to order from the menu and pay the bill at the new spot. We are regulars. The food, atmosphere and great affordable wine list never disappoint. I’m planning a girl’s dinner tomorrow and Ouisie’s was our unanimous choice. Many memories have been created here. Just making the Open Table reservation for tomorrow made me smile. I am having the seafood crepes tomorrow!
Vibrant atmosphere and “old school” Italian. Bardea is the hottest spot on Market Street in Wilmington. The restaurant has a warm rustic interior, which lends itself to a louder, but not intrusive atmosphere. Much like dinning with a large Italian family during the holidays. The food is just like it came from you grandmothers kitchen, just plated more elegantly. The selection of small plates with appease everyone at the table. Must try’s are the Eggplant Parm and the Grilled Octopus. All are good, but these standout against the best I’ve had anywhere. Get anyone of the pizzas to share for the table as they are worth having a slice, but allowing yourself to enjoy a main dish. Best to dine with people who enjoy sharing. Well done.
Truely Exceptional Service. We have a child with allergies. It is often very difficult to find good options. We know that he can eat hamburger at Legal and it is usually our goto spot. We had never been to the Framingham location but the attention and service level was absolutely outstanding from the hostesses who sat us but especially our server Camilla. She was really great. I mean with two kids 2 and 5, we were messy and a bit unruly but she made us feel welcome and everything things was okay, no problem. We will definitely come back to this specific location in the future. I don’t write reviews that often but level of service was so noticeable that I’m doing this as I pay the bill.
Not well-suited to users with voiceover. Well the app works with voiceover, there are certain very annoying aspects that work very poorly. Particularly, when booking a table if you have to change the date and time with voiceover you have to swipe each time and then move your finger away from the field and swipe again to change the date there’s no way to move quickly through the dates the way you can with a standard Apple date picker. If you turn off voiceover you can feel haptic feedback as you rotate through the dates and times but this is not available to users with voiceover and it’s very clunky requiring a swipe move off the field and another swipe so this is very poor and in adequate otherwise the app works well
Hate it. OpenTable is constantly trying to force their location services. However, I am never making reservations at the time I am in the city in which I want to dine. I make reservations prior to flying to these various cities, so please stop prioritizing selling customer data over providing reservation services. They are only trying to sell customer data and they will recommend a restaurant to you in a different state, If they don’t host the restaurant you’re looking for. It’s very difficult to see that we’re being screwed over and Open Table sends you to a completely different state than you entered in your search. Beyond this, it is incredibly difficult to find your way back to the cancellation policies for each restaurant. These cancellation fees can be up to $300 for one dinner, so please stop hiding this information. There is zero regard for the customer experience in the current design of OpenTable online and their app.
New policy stinks. So, I have used open table for a long time with only a couple of glitches. Recently though, they changed their app so you actively must choose to receive points. Apparently, someone must have complained that points automatically accrue when you book and dine at a restaurant, because you now must choose to collect points each time. I was in a rush to book a table the other night and was wondering why, for a 2nd time, I didn’t receive points. That is so cheap and they should be embarrassed. I’m sure that they will cite some obscure paragraph in their terms and conditions. Glitches are one thing but purposely trying to keep you from accumulating points is another thing. It deserves one star but I like the app so I gave it three
What Customer Service. I recently had a restaurant owner mark my reservation as unclaimed - a no call no show. My account was then locked. I contacted CS and submitted my credit card receipt (as they requested) from the evening’s meal and I never heard from Open Table again. They never unlocked my account - which had several 1000 dining points - and stopped responding to my emails. While I’m complaining, I also don’t like that I have to go to a desk top computer to redeem my points rather than use the app. I suppose it does serve the purpose for which I suspect it was designed - discourage point redemption - I find it a cheap tactic for a company that tends to promote higher end dining.
Pleasant application with inclusive design for blind users. I would like to share my first time experience with this application. Not only does this application offer a lot of interesting and easy to use services, but also it has been designed fully inclusively with people with other abilities in mind. I am legally blind, using screen readers to interact with digital world. Screen readers allow blind people to receive audio representation of the digital content. This application is more than 90% usable and fully accessible with voiceover, the screen reader on my iPhone. Additionally, as a first time user, I found everything intuitively designed in a very pleasant way. Kudos to OpenTable, kudos to its designers.
App has recently become nearly impossible to use. What was once a great app has recently become increasingly frustrating to use. Every function, from opening to selecting a location and searching for restaurants is extremely slow; the app usually freezes. As for changing a reservation, forget it! That function now always throws the “we’re having trouble connecting to our servers” error. Deleting and reinstalling hasn’t helped. This occurs even with 5G WiFi. I used to love this app and have used it since the early 2000’s. Now I avoid it and I can only make reservations from the website. Developers, please do something!
Disappointed Anniversary. We have been dining here since they moved from Canopy restaurant in town to Firefly on the beach. The food was ok. Our Wedge salad was lacking in bacon and tomatoes which use to be plentiful. Our main course was good. Several familiar items from before Hurricane Michael were not on the menu although the service is still excellent. We have dine here on several special occasions over the years and Canopy’s before that and were always treated with a dessert with our occasion written in chocolate on the dessert. Tonight was our 38th Anniversary. All We receive was a “ Happy Anniversary” from our waitress. I did not I feel like I had a fine dining experience tonight like I use to in years past. Very disappointed on our anniversary.
Love open table BUT. I am a frequent user of my open table either be at home or on the road. They have a large number of restaurants that are available. Follow up on things. And now the BUT They have made it more difficult to redeem your points you used to be able to pull them up on your mobile device and show it at the restaurant. It seems now you need to go to the desktop to redeem it. We don’t have it that bad but that makes things a little bit they were difficult. To open table there’s one star missing from my review fix the redemption process and I will usually rate you a 5Star
Awesome until it isn’t. We dine out frequently and I use OpenTable all the time across the city. In a foodie city like Dallas it’s a must-have. Today I searched for one of our want-to-go’s and for some reason was populated with a restaurant in Connecticut with the same exact name. I wasn’t paying attention to the exact address and booked a reservation, which naturally I was then unable to make as I don’t have the ability to teleport. Not only did we then obviously have to scramble for a backup option last minute when we got there, OpenTable wouldn’t let me modify my existing reservation or actually book anything in my city until my current res expired. What a cherry on top of a series of extremely annoying events. Thanks guys. Not sure why this wasn’t one of the first considerations in development.
