Users love it:
“Just so you know, this app has changed my 86 year old mother's life. It is simple and easy for her and her friends to use. This is so important for the elderly since so many other apps are way too complicated. She can really have one on one conversations, especially with me, which is so very important.”
- Mark M

Doctors trust it:
"I use this w my HOH senior patients when the hearing aides aren't even enough to compensate for the hearing loss. This works great. I have recommended it to my nursing/CNA staff to use as well.”

Super easy and very accurate!. I just want to say thank you for coming up with a thoughtful and super easy to use really wonderful product that has made this teacher, and my 8th grade cochlear implanted student (who was struggling in biology class) very happy 😃 I am able to easily save the transcripts to file on iCloud then I can upload it to my Google classroom for my student to refer to whenever she needs. This captioning has been a lifesaver for my mainstreamed students who are usually the only DHH students sitting in a large classroom. Even with the FM transmitter microphones, listening with a cochlear implant and taking notes is a grueling task . Many many thanks for making this app so easy and so accurate !!! 😃Grateful teacher of DHH kids in NYC

My husbands hearing loss. Last Saturday my husband woke up about five am the usual time he gets up turned to me and said I can’t hear a thing when he tried to get up he was extremely dizzy I called our dr he said it’s some inner ear thing I’ll see him Monday since he has no pain. All day Saturday and Sunday he was miserable not able to keep his balance but especially not able to hear anything thing at all..I banged a spoon against a pan he heard nothing. Monday our dr sent us to a specialist my husband had no wax, fluid in the ear or inflammation the dr said it is a rare condition that not much is known about it he injected steroid into his ears that didn’t work as of today he was started on oral steroids. The specialist showed me this app so that I could communicate with my husband it has been a God send. Now I pray his hearing is restored or at least some of his hearing restored 🙏🏻. Thank you so much for this amazing app. Lilly

Live transcript. Thank you ! I have tried Live transcript before, and enjoyed to be able to use it, so I could follow a conversation via this app! I do not hear very much with my natural hearing anymore, and this helps me! It is very helpful also in a room with many people who are conversing with each other! Reading what is being said, helps a lot! I also believe that even people who have their hearing intact will benefit from this app, as there are times when being in an environment that is loud, it will help to communicate with those around them. An example would be at a car racing event, and other similar occasions! Karin U. Sturgill

Great little app. Being hearing impaired from side effects from strong medication. It’s always frustrating to try and understand conversations. Hearing aids cost a fortune for my kind of hearing loss. Being i was not born deaf ASL is a tad hard to learn. Next best thing was this app. I can now understand my Dr , kids, husband, and anyone else talking to me. The only con i found is the accuracy of a conversation on the basic. It comes up with some extremely laughable sentences. I have recommended this app to several of my Drs when i see them and they ask.

Problem with it cutting out each day. We need the transcribe app all of the time. We subscribed to the Pro version, and it only works for a limited time each day. That was not evident when we signed up. I sent a message concerning the problem, and received no response. I ended up also adding the basic plan and having to pay an additional $50. I would like to receive a refund for the previous version. When it worked on the previous app, we did mot have problems until we went to renew it.

Excellent for hospital and nursing facility use. Great for hard of hearing patient who was using written transcription (SO sloooooowwww) and only lip reads (can’t do that with all the required masking in this facility). Varying font size is also helpful and can be read from patient’s night stand. Medical professionals from foreign countries speech are a little harder with correct translation ,but doable. Does the English with (South Africa accent) work….will have to try that aspect next time this nurse is assigned to him. Masked Japanese accent was also hard to decipher.

Best App in A Giant Pile of Terrible Apps. There are many apps similar to this including some free from Google, but unfortunately this is the best out of all of them and that’s not saying much. I use this for live subtitles when anyone is talking in Spanish so I can see the words they are saying and train my ears to better understand them, their accents and the way they talk. It works but there are a ton of problems. Often it just stops for no apparent reason, or it quickly deletes what it transcribed, changing entire paragraphs at times, which is almost always correct to begin with so I have no idea why it is correcting itself. However I went ahead and paid for it in hopes they fix these bugs. The app itself is invaluable at times but it needs work and a feedback mechanism. I don’t mind sharing recordings if it helps.

Absolute greedy scum — they charge by the hour. This is a great app from a functionality standpoint… HOWEVER, I paid $50 dollars for the pro version. But that only gives you ~20 hours per month or so of use before you have to pay for for more time. Then it’s $1 an hour! $50 a year isn’t enough for unlimited use???? All I want to do is communicate with my 94 y/o grandmother and these greedy pigs want to take more of my money so I can do that. I have never been more upset by an app or in my life. How can these people live with themselves? So incredibly misleading. The only thing they can do now is unlock the app. That’s the only way to make it right. A refund wouldn’t be adequate. They need to remove the time limit, period. There is no reason for it other than GREED. I’m disgusted. The positive reviews are either fake or from people who haven’t hit the time limit yet. Just wait and see how they’ll feel when they do.

Recent total hearing loss. This is a sanity saver. However, we’re hoping for the app to learn as we go. My voice is loud and sharper than my husband’s. His voice has more softness. My voice is translated very well. But I’m the one who needs to hear from him, and translation from a soft voice is much less accurate. His soft-toned voice is often garbled. It does help if he is closer to the iPad or mobile phone and slows his speech some. The app does what it is supposed to do, so I give it 4 stars. There is room for improvement so can’t give 5 stars (I’ve heard). Thank you.

99% there! Missing just one thing.... As a medical professional looking for dictation software, this does a very good job! It understands a vast majority of medical jargon and I think this will really help me with charting. The only thing that would make this app absolutely perfect is if there was a way you could utilize its dictation capabilities within other apps. For example, is there any way to make a floating mic icon that you could tap that would allow you to dictate into any text box? Or maybe make an installable keyboard with dictation capabilities? Otherwise the only workaround for that at the moment is you can easily copy and paste the dictated text into your software of choice. It works, but it just adds an unnecessary step and I would love it if we could dictate into other apps directly.

Great app!!!. The reason I got this app is because I am hearing impaired. It was very difficult for me to understand what other people are saying when being talked behind me or in a Bible study class. It is also very helpful when I have conversations with my family members without any confusion using this app, it is amazing. Thank you for this tremendous help on this. Again, I thank you.

Basic isn’t worth the cost. Like others, I found basic transcription isn’t worth the cost. And if I only needed a few hours of legible transcription, I probably wouldn’t buy any transcription software. I paid for a year subscription, but I’ll be canceling and looking for more reliable transcription solutions. My iPhone includes (at no additional cost) a transcription that is at least as accurate as the basic transcription on this app. *Dear Developer, please don’t insult me by suggesting I send an email or whatever blah, blah, blah nonsense you normally attach to user feedback. Either make a better product, or don’t; the choice is up to your CEO or whoever. I’ve paid for a product that doesn’t do what I paid for and I spent my time telling you here. I’m not using more of my time to convince anyone else. I’ll vote with my feet and take my money elsewhere.

Great transcription app.. Kudos for this awesome app. I love it so much and I have tried several other different transcription apps and this one is at the top. Thanks for all your hard work and I look forward to seeing even more features in the coming months. Why do I love using this app over others, mostly because of two features. The large bold font of the live scrolling transcription window, which includes beautiful font and big text against a black background. I love it. The second feature I love is the ability to accurately translate a person who is speaking in a different tone and intonation because English is their second language which makes it difficult for the listener to understand because it is different from a typical English speaker’s conversation.

Wish I could give this app 6 stars. It’s not too often you truly get blown away anymore, amirite? Well if you have anyone hard of hearing around you, stroke patients, or even if you just want to get more productivity out of your voice recording sessions, install this app. I was amazed how fast and accurate it is. It’s better and faster than closed captioned videos. I don’t know how they did it. You can share the text generated instantly from your speech to your destination of choice - email yourself, social posts, or just clear for the next thought. Really great app. Works way better than expected.

Horrible. I wanted to like this application but it just isnt happening. The compelling feature to me was offline mode, which meant that an internet connection was not required for transcription to work. But it doesnt work well at all. Whether online or offline, the transcription process either fails to transcribe anything or is mostly inaccurate in what it did transcribe. The updated version now makes the user interface confusing and bloated. To have to pay for a subscription model that is both expensive and absurd for an app that does not work is upsetting. This app has become such an annoyance for me to use that I have cancelled my subscription and stopped using it.

Way more accurate than Siri. I transcribe my client meetings, using Live Transcribe, and save them as a references. I help people develop content for their websites. I find that when they are speaking (not writing) the words flow naturally and are way more eloquent then when they sit and type at their computers,. This way I can cheaply and easily capture their authentic voice and its natural flow and expression. this results in effective and engaging marketing text for their business. So thanks for creating such a fabulous tool.

Not the quality I expected.. I am very disappointed to report that this app did not preform to what I’ve heard. I attempted to use it to transcribe an interview. Placed my phone next to the microphone and at full blast (it wouldn’t pick up anything otherwise), and it still missed 50% of what was said, not to mention the errors in what it did transcribe. I wasn’t expecting much (especially since the person I was interviewing has a very strong accent), but it got about 50% (as I mentioned before) of what he said, and NONE of what I said. The transcription would also often stop for no apparent reason, or backspace and delete correct text. I am very disappointed.

Airplanes and HOH. I gave a presentation at Late Deafened Adults Association In NY “Creating Hearing Friendly Inclusion Spaces” where an attendee share with me about this app. It Live Captions 22 seats back on an airplane and I have been promoting it since then as I am a Hearing Loss Equality and Inclusion Advocate via HearCommunications, Inc. I would like to know about partnering possibilities. And, the heads up it records death rather than deaf and horrific rather than Hear’rific. Even on Zoom. I share this app a lot a want to know if there is anyway to make a residue income or sponsorship from your company for Sound Advice: A Hearing Friendly Business Podcast? Teresa Barnes RN

Essential tool. I am 90% deaf. Tried Live Captions (iphone/ios native transcription app), Ava (ios paid app), other free apps. These do not really help much with dinner conversations, nor does Live Transcribe in its unlimited version. But the Pro version really works. Better than Ava Pro and everything else I have tried. The standard subscription to Live Transcribe comes with only 5 hrs of Pro version per month, which is not enough. But you can buy additional time at $1.50 per hour, well worth it and much cheaper than Ava Pro. Live Transcribe has made a huge difference in my life.

Only works where I Don’t need it!. Range is extremely short and even then doesn’t translate very accurately. Works ok when it’s quiet and just a couple of people, but that’s not where I need it. Took it to a meeting where I was only about 6 feet from the speaker and got nothing at all. Tonight at a dinner, it worked fair for about ten minutes and then decided it needed to download SPANISH and wouldn’t do ANYTHING till I was back on a WiFi connection again. This is a real battery killer and makes the phone get so hot you wouldn’t want to pick it up. I suspect that it is linking with Siri because my battery usage meter said SIRI used 28% of my charge today, and I didn’t use Siri at all. Not going to renew after this month is used up. Sorry, but this didn’t help me at all.

Easy to read & quick.. Ive tried other apps and it would transcribe some speeches incorrectly bc of accents or the way some words were said, but this app made the least amount of mistakes. Not only does it transcribe to where I can read easily but it takes the speech overall and transcribe to where the word would fit in to make sense. Thats something other apps failed to do so it would type out but wouldn't make sense even though thats what it was heard. For example "see and say" sound somewhat similar but this apps fits it into the sentence. "I didnt SEE an elephant" vs "I didnt SAY an elephant". Anyways, I just downloaded the app and so far I like it A LOT! I'd say try it for yourself !!

Essential for my hubby. Just like the review I just read, my husband also lost his ability to comprehend the spoken word, seemingly out of the blue. Multiple brain MRIs searched for evidence of tumor or stroke but showed nothing. This began in 2021. It has been diagnosed as receptive aphasia, but a couple of his docs question this. Whatever it is has robbed his ability to communicate. He did months of speech therapy with limited to no improvement but his pathologist recommended Live Transcribe which has been a LIFE SAVER for him and for me too! And for the family who love him and want to talk with him. I highly recommend it. It’s not a cure, but it’s way better than having to write every word I want to communicate with him! Thank you developers so much for this app! I hope you will be able to continue to get this to many other people suffering with this condition. It truly makes a huge difference!

Deaf/HoH-friendly features and developers that LISTEN. This app was definitely developed with the D/HoH community in mind with awesome features that you can see with the screenshots and the description here in iTunes. What I also love about this app is that the developers are constantly researching and asking users to let them know what works and what doesn’t work so they can make it the best it can possibly be! If you have a comment or suggestion, someone will be there to answer you. It’s fantastic having that kind of connection!

Fast, Friendly, Convenient, Attractive, & Accurate. I pay the monthly sub for this app because I depend on Live Captions in Spanish to help me understand the people I work with because Spanish is my second language. The only feature missing here, imho, is in-app translation of recorded transcripts. I don’t have much need for live translation AND transcription simultaneously but the option to translate AFTER recording a transcript would be convenient. 5 stars because it exceeds its purpose and is fun to use.

Not like it used to be. This worked exceptionally well when I first got it in fall, 2020. I am 100% deaf and don’t know sign language so rely on lip reading and captions to communicate. Shortly after I got this, I was hospitalized for 3 weeks following surgery, not allowed visitors due to Covid restrictions, so didn’t even have my husband there to help me communicate. This app was a wonderful help and the nursing staff were very impressed with how easy it was to communicate. That is no longer the case. If it picks up anything, it makes no sense. It will pick up a word or two but no complete sentences. When I mentioned this to customer service I was told I would need the “Pro” app which, on top of my annual subscription charge, would charge per minute of transcribing. I found this ridiculous and will not keep my subscription. I found another app that works fairly well and is free.

Pro. Great app.i have Profound hearing loss, live transcribe greatly helps me know what’s going on around me. Not hearing what’s being said around me brings me high levels of anxiety and uncertainty. Even experiencing being gaslighted & excluded from conversations happening right in front of me being uncertain of what was truthfully being said. Pro transcribe hours help me tremendously and brings my anxiety down and helps give me voice to speak up with confidence. The basic transcription is good in a quiet setting, but misses a lot of what’s being said or doesn’t pick up many of the words leaving to fill in the blanks of conversation. I would recommend having more pro time especially for those who are hard of hearing or deaf. Being able to know what’s being said is crucial to a mental well being.

Outstanding app!. My mother in law is hearing impaire and it’s hard for her to follow all the conversations. Now it’s so easy. The transcription is so accurate and catches speaking from across the room. Also have a friend who is def who with the pandemic had a really hard time in the hospital bc nurses and doctors had to use whiteboards. This is the answer to so many issues. Thank you for making this!!!

WAY too expensive and not reliable. I am deaf and downloaded this for work to understand coworkers better. The app itself worked well for a couple of days and I was thrilled, but then it wouldn’t load after that. Every time I pressed start, it would only pick up a couple words every five minutes even with no background noise and in close range. Also, I paid for the subscription only to find out that it covers only THREE HOURS of transcription time for the ENTIRE MONTH (maybe even longer, I haven’t had it long enough to find out when it resets). Then it is still $1 per hour after that. So what’s the point of paying for the subscription then? I wanted to love this app but it’s just taking advantage of disabled individuals that need it, and asking them to pay ridiculous amounts for something that’s not even reliable. Don’t pay for the subscription.

Fantastic app, highly recommend. I’m a hard of hearing person that relies on lip reading a lot to understand my coworkers, and I just got out of a one-hour meeting with 15+ participants. Normally I’d have strained to understand what was going on, missed some information, and left feeling exhausted. But with this app, I can just turn my phone on and have a full, live-time transcription of what’s being said. It’s been incredibly helpful, and I can’t recommend it enough to any deaf/hard of hearing person.

Great app but no support. My brother recently lost his hearing. He is not computer savvy and I wanted to help him. After researching available products I chose this app. The main reason was the app page indicates it supports Family Sharing. This option would have allowed me to help my brother when questions arose. I was unable to get any response to my questions using the app’s support option. Family Sharing doesn’t work and requests to transfer the subscription to my brother’s Apple ID went unanswered. The documentation for the app is also sparse. Along with this review, I am cancelling the subscription and contesting the charges.

Very helpful tool to communicate.. My father is 93 years old and recently moved in with us as he needed hospice care. He is almost totally deaf and hearing aids do not help. He still wants to communicate but the only way to do this is writing on yellow pads. We had yellow pads and pens everywhere and of course it takes time to write. And hand writing is not consistent. This application has really helped my wife and I communicate with my dad using our phones which are always near by. Now we simply speak into the app and it captures our comments in nice big text. It is also easy to adjust text sizes and since he is also blind in one eye and poor vision in his good eye this is a big help. Another feature I love is the shake to erase the text. It reminds me of my Etch a Sketch - it is so fast and easy to converse. The five dollars per phone is worth its weight in gold. Now we can easily communicate with dad and it has improved his quality of life, and ours, lol. It beats yelling! At 93, you want to see them end well and this is helping us overcome a major disability - hearing loss! I recommend this to anyone who needs to communicate with the hearing impaired.

Good product at a good price. It's great for us hearing impaired people I love the basic unlimited mode for one on one conversations with my spouse but sometimes a more high tech mode is needed for group conversations and that's where the transcribe mode is needed and the program does a pretty good job of it The best part of this so is that doesn't cost an arm and a leg to use.

Suggestion. Hi, thanks for the great product. I wish when I pull out my phone to use at a grocery register or other person-to-person interaction that I could point the microphone at the bottom of the phone towards the person speaking and the screen would automatically flip (using the orientation gyroscope in the phone) so I can read the text from that vantage. Cheers

Not good for casual use.. I live in a large retirement community and many people are hard of hearing or completely deaf. I would love to have an application that I could use to communicate with them, but paying a monthly subscription for occasional use is not acceptable. I did find Hearing Helper useful for those occasions and it is a one time charge that is less than live transcripts monthly charge. I would recommend that if you are going to charge monthly have two versions. One that is free but maybe limited to translating only 200 words and another that is unlimited. Then if people liked the free one they could upgrade to the pro version.

Sudden deafness. I had surgery and two days later became deaf. We began using the notes app and it was most helpful and then I looked to find something better and came across this app and gave it a try. It has been a life saver and has connected me back with my family and now I spend more time thinking about living versus dying. I would say transcribe technology has save my life. 47 year old male Bank President and CEO

Love the App. This app is amazing. I have poor hearing and even with hearing aids I'm often lost in social settings. I installed the app, and it's remarkable. In a busy restaurant, I got a near perfect transcribe for all three table-mates, without picking up any cross talk from other tables. On trivia night at a busy pub, again, I got near perfect trascription of the MC (on microphone) and my teammates, while getting nothing transcribed from people at nearby tables. So why not 5 stars? Well, after trying out the app, I was delighted to pay for a year subscription. What I didn't realize is that my subscription covers only 5 hours per month of "Pro" mode with unlimited "Basic" mode. I have no idea what the difference is and no idea how to select one or the other and I certainly did not realize my annual subscription fee didn't cover full use. Your tech works great but your business process just isn't transparent enough.

Using this to help with zoom meetings. This has been so helpful when I am struggling with understanding and different sounds. I usually struggle to hear different accents which has caused me to miscommunicate. Love this app this far. There are a few times it might miss words like it thought ‘mail’ was being said when ‘mare’ was being said.

I live for this app.. I woke up around Christmas 2019 I could no longer understand what my now ex husband and kids were saying. I’ve been to numerous ents, also a geneticist, and a neuropathy neurologist. Trying to figure out what has happened? If anyone has a clue please let me know. I’ve had 2 Head mri’s. I’m still getting tests trying to figure out what’s wrong with me. But I can still hear sounds not perfectly a lot of sounds I can’t hear anymore like running water, fans etc. But voices are like Charlie Browns parents even tests make them loud but I can’t understand the words anymore. It’s frustrating but thankfully I have this app to help communicate. I wish it stayed in 2.0 all the time it was more of a life saver especially with gatherings I still feel at a loss. But at least I can kinda understand people with the app. Thanks for having the app! Subscriber since I found it in spring 2021. I still don’t know asl. It definitely helps!!

Buyer Beware. The app has two tiers of Transcription service, Pro and Basic. I saw no reference or explanation of this important fact during the evaluation period and this is a huge issue. The Pro service is decent but has difficulty distinguishing between background conversations and music and user conversations. It’s almost unusable in a noisy setting. That’s not my complaint, however. I understand that limitation and have no real issue with it. My real beef is that they didn’t make it clear that there are two tiers of service and that you only get 5 hours of Pro Transcription per month for your $50. The Basic Transcription is awful and not worth using at all. For example, the basic service misses or skips many of the words in a conversation, even in a quiet room. Furthermore, it doesn’t place any new lines in the text. So, what you get is one very long stream of text. It’s unusable. So, they are now nagging me to spend even more money to buy more Pro time. Had the trial period made it clear that there was a very limited amount of useful time, I might be willing to buy more time. As it is, I feel I was deceived and am reluctant to give them any more money.

Hospital emergency. I was in the hospital with my grandmother 96 years old. She has severe nerve damage i her ears causing her not to be able to use hearing aids to hear. We often revert to loud shouting but sometimes even that is not enough. While we were in the hospital they were going to put heart rate monitor, I.v’s on her and she didn’t know what they were doing g leaving her fearful and scared. So I quickly downloaded this app. And it eased her stress. The Doctor was so impressed with its ability to help him talk to her and get her feedback. I thank God for your product. It put my grandmothers worries at ease. Thank You

A great assist for the hard of hearing. I lost 50% of my hearing last year due to a reaction from strong medicine. I was at a loss as to how to communicate with my wife. A friend recommended Live Transcribe. I now have one Live Transcribe loaded on an old iPad we weren’t using, and have placed it permanently on a table between where she sits and me. I connected an external directional microphone (the Rode “VideoMicMe”) and directed it to my wife. I leave Live Transcribe on the entire time we are in the family room. (You will need to have your iPad connected to external power). The only problem we have is occasional confusion between my wife talking and the TV. She just mutes the TV to talk. I also find the iPhone version indispensable for doctor visits and other one on one conversations. Maybe this will work for you, too!

Deaf and don't know ASL. I am late in life deaf. I use this every day at my doctor appointments and in my life. Without this, I can't communicate at all. It just get things wrong and it does miss things but it's so much better than not having a life at all. It's always hard for me to come up with the money each year, but that's part of being elderly, disabled, and on a fixed income. I often wonder if you people could receive grants from the federal government because this program is the only one that I have found that works the way it does without having to hit a button to continue the conversation in lifetime. It would be so nice for some of us to not have to pay so much for it as we are some of your best people that are referring others to your product. I do it quite often. Thank you for what you do. I panic when it goes down.

Bait and switch. If you want accurate, fast transcription, it’s limited to 5 hours a month. The basic transcription is “Unlimited”, but it’s crap. It either just keeps blinking and listening trying to understand what’s being said or it’s incorrect or it works great for a few minutes and goes back to being crap. I’ve noticed only a few times that Basic works accurately and continuously for more than a few minutes. I’ve also noticed thar Basic works well for a minute right after you switch from Pro. It’s using the same speech recognition from your phone regardless of Basic or Pro so why charge an exorbitantly higher price for Pro quality (after your 5 hours per month is up)? It’s already expensive for the app. iPhone has made a Live Transcription as part of their Accessibility features, but it only recognizes American and Canadian English currently. I happen to need it a lot for Australian and British English, which surprisingly doesn’t get recognized yet. Only way I’ll keep subscribing is if it’s Pro quality all the time. I don’t have time to ask someone to stop talking while I switch modes or try to pay extra for an hour of Pro just so I can understand what they’re saying.

Appreciate. I appreciate using Live transcribe because this app helps me communicate with my 93 year old mother who is deaf. It’s been a life saver, especially when we go to doctors’ appointments because with live transcribe my mom can follow the conversation and answer questions with ease. We appreciate the ease and the reliability of this wonderful product. Live transcribe offers my mother a better way to communicate and that is wonderful because making the world more accommodating for disabled persons is a very important endeavor.

Wow, this is amazing!. I need this to transcribe for me since I am deaf. I tried it talking to my husband and it recorded every word correctly. This is without practice for voice recognition. Just push the microphone on the face, be sure your volume is wide open, bingo it’s recording. I will be able to use this at medical appointments and wherever I have a one to one conversation. I’m sure there will be other applications I can use it for also. Thank you!

The deaf can 👂. Hello I’ve only been using the app for a few days so far so good. I use if it for the first time at a doctors appointment, and was able to read what my doctor was saying. Which was great being that I am completely deaf. Please continue to improve this app it’s a blessing for the deaf world. My doctor also added the app to use for her HOH patients. 🤘🏾👍

Only works in certain situations. I bought this because it seemed to work reasonably well. The main purpose was to help a deaf friend understand what was being said at church. Unfortunately when I used it at church with my friend the transcription experience was horrible. Words would appear and then disappear. The words that stayed were not even close to being right. The speaker was speaking clearly and the sound was good. I did not cancel the trial in time so I am stuck with an app I will not be using much if at all.

Live transcribe is fantastic!. My mom is in a nursing home. She has hearing aids but never uses them. Visits with her were extremely frustrating. Even when I yelled she didn’t hear much of what I said. Now my 97 year old mom enjoys being able to hear about her new great granddaughter and what is new with the rest of the family. We only get a one-half hour outdoor visit with her per week, so this app is invaluable to me.

My girlfriend is hard of hearing. This is a great app! Real time speech recognition is paramount for people who are in a relationship with someone who is hearing impaired. My girlfriend is hard of hearing, and the only time I can be sure she hears everything is if it’s read. I get frustrated sometimes when I have something important to say, but she doesn’t hear me. And instead of asking me to repeat myself, because she’s so nice, she agrees and nods. That works most of the time but I know she’s just being nice when I ask a question and she nods in agreement. I sometimes act like I didn’t ask a question, as to not make her aware that I know.

Great app but would really like to use in family sharing!. My husband has been severely hearing impaired for more than 40 years. Usually his hearing aides provide all the help he needs. However they stopped functioning and it was very upsetting to him. We could not get him in to the doctor nor to a hearing aid shop for replacement or repair in a timely fashion. I thought there had to be something so went to the App Store and after trying several apps settled on this app. We are very pleased and when our audiologist saw it she was very impressed and wrote down all the information. The speed and accuracy of the transcription are two of the things that particularly impressed her. I would give it five stars but if I want to talk to my husband when he does not have his phone I have to have it on my phone also. So when the trial is over I will be having to drop my subscription. Nevertheless it is a great app!

Great app for the hard of hearing. This is helpful. I am hard of hearing, type of hearing loss where hearing aids are of no use. I have tried other transcribe apps but this seems to be the only one that works by picking up speech from a podcast eg on Spotify or a radio app news reader, both apps can run at the same time on the same device. Great app.

Live transcribe. It’s absolutely great I can have conversations

No free version. Yeah you get 1 minute to try it then you have to pay

Cost. Whilst I am sure this application is excellent I don’t like surprises after downloading as to what it really costs. You should not do this. Because of that tactic I’ll not be using your product.

A lifesaver. This is a fantastic app that allows me to actually communicate with my Gran, who is deaf. Because of this app, I can actually have a conversation with her! Thank you!

Sigh. Can't handle the Australian accent well. Fails so often on me it's easier to just type. Limited output options make it not very useful for anything beyond subtitling me. Which isn't very useful as I find it buggers up with my accent on the reg. Got auto subscribed to a year long subscription while testing the app. Couldn't get refund our of anyone apple/devs even with less than 15 minutes of use kind of sucked to get shanked $90 when I could least afford it.

Make it cheaper 👎. This is a great app for the deaf or hearing impaired like myself. A bit disappointing that you have to pay for it and it’s not really cheap. 👎👎👎 thumbs down especially with wearing masks. It could have been a great life saver.

Accurate, super easy to use and great communication with developer. I’ve only been playing with this app for a couple of days but I’ve found it incredibly easy to use. It’s basically a way to generate subtitles in real time - incredible for those of us who are hearing impaired. Accurate even when the speaker is masked. This app has so much potential! I had a question for the developer and he replied within hours and couldn’t have been nicer or more helpful. I highly, highly recommend.

Review #1. It works great & thank you. But it also has its weird moments. How can I explain this to you I’m thinking.... I myself can talk steady & standard about what ever we are talk about & things are usually great. But I’ve said to him to join in the conversation & then the app seems to get confused and the words don’t even catch on what we are saying... As a truck driver & the law pushes us to not touch your device & every single app we have tried, you need to press something to activate it which is impossible... Thou we have come across 1 now that can get a message across but it needs to put in a message form & it also chews up space on saved area.

You cannot reply!. I got a welcome email from the developer inviting me to reply with comments and questions but when I did reply I got a bounceback saying “Undeliverable “

Bait and switch. The demo of this app was great, so I ponied up for the paid version. Come to find out, even with a subscription, I only get 5h every 12 days to use the demo/premium version. However, the subscription comes with a free unlimited basic version that is absolutely terrible. Talk to text for iMessenger is a million times better! So glad I only paid for a month, and not the annual subscription they try to push. It is a complete sham that they market this basic service for people with hearing disability - it could be malpractice! Definitely looking for other options, have already cancelled subscription.

Awesome app - one suggestion. I use VoiceOver to read on a braille display as I am Deaf-Blind. It would be better if this app had separate messages for each utterance rather than all being in one big box and having to scroll to the end every time. I also can't get into the box to copy and paste the text if I want to. If you made an option in settings to have it show up more like text messages that would be faster to read. Each speaker or sentence in a separate message. I've only used the free version so maybe it can do some of this if you pay. And there would need to be a way for the messages to 'stay still' so it's not scrolling automatically to the newest one while I'm reading the previous ones. Braille goes slower than people reading text flashing on the screen.

Why pay to get access. Im deaf. Why do I have to pay a lot to get access to anything Ans not accurate captions. A lot missing and messed up information And that much to pay for access for deaf people Wow 66 dollaes a year???? Not impressed

Lisa Marsh. Really helpful with my damaged hearing... as not a candidate for hearing aids

I cancel subscription but. Subscription isn’t stopped because I want to cancel before take my money without my permission. I tried to find the cancel subscription but none of that. Beware of this site! Don’t click this! I contact my bank and to prevent this take my money. I already uninstalled few days ago before because to subscription.

Syed Naqvi MD. Good software and am using it, captures me st medical terms but needs more vocablary Excellent speed. Overall very nice Excellent source for my deaf patients

After 3 days u must pay.. Maybe has potential, but there’s no free accessibility after 3 days. I wanted this as I work at a group home, when a clients deaf sister comes, I thought this might help everyone communicate easier. But I’m not paying over $60/year to use this app maybe 5x per year. Sad that I can’t even find an accessibility option for the deaf without having to pay more than 3x the amount what I can pay to stream movies in 2023.

No support from me. I am deaf will not support subscription apps like this. The developers are only feeding off the disabled. If it was a fixed price I would

Excellent. This app made my life ten times easier. 10/10

Best real time transcriber available.. I’ve recommended to several people. A total life changer for anyone who is hearing impaired. Trish Wheaton

Love love love Live Transcribe. Recommended by a Deaf friend, I shared this with my dad who’s Hard of Hearing for a large event we attended. Great result and my dad felt more included overall. I use it to transcribe content quickly and find the black background, white letters, and larger fonts fantastic for easy use.

Buyer Beware. This app railroads you into agreeing to a subscription before you can even start using its transcription. A scummy tactic. The subscription kicks in after what I can only describe as an insufficent trial period. I used it once and didn’t have time to investigate better/free options before I was charged for a YEARLY plan. Go with Group Translate by Microsoft instead. It’s free, and recognizes a different speaker for each device paired to the conversation making discussions infinitely easy to decipher. It’s also FREE, as accessibility measures should be, given how critical they are to the welfare of those who need them. There are better options out there.

Fantastic app. It’s incredibly useful for communicating with my deaf relative. Very good at transcribing my words and very legible for her to read. I’d give it 10 stars if possible!

My deaf mother can finally understand us!. My mother was overwhelmed with joy at finally being able to understand the details of everything we are saying. She was able to participate in conversations like she has not been able to do for 20 years. The fact that I can work off-line is a godsend, so it can be used at doctor’s offices, restaurants, retail settings. This app has changed her life – thank you so much to the developers!

Background noise. Terrible with background noise and accents. Not able to pick up sound spoken to me unless phone is up close to face of person speaking.

Good app!. I find this app very helpful.

pas génial.. ne fais pas grande difference entre phrases, noms communs ou propres, c'est un chaos de mots approximatifs mis ensemble. je donne 3 étoiles pq j'ai vu pire.

Requires payment info even for the “free” trail :(. I’m not a fan on companies that require you to agree to pay them if you don’t cancel the trail soon enough. We’re talking almost $70 for the year. Is it worth it? Maybe, but I’ll never know because I don’t like giving my payment info just to do the “free trial”.

No star - Very limited usefulness. Very misleading you only get 5 hrs transcription with a full paid subscription then you have to pay pay Pay for the rest of the month: $1.39 per hour and there’s no way to buy larger blocks of time so super annoying … if you think 5 hrs is a lot then you’re not deaf. Too bad because it works great however I would need it for several hours a day so that’s way too much. I’m stuck with the subscription now so I will use it for my allotted 5 hours per month while I continue shopping elsewhere.

Conversation flows. I use Live Transcribe with my father who is virtually deaf. I connect the screen on my iPad to a monitor with a long HDMI cable and can sit across the room and carry on a flowing conversation, which is magical, compared to halting, imperfect attempted conversation in raised voices or having to sit side-by-side passing a device back and forth. With Live Transcribe, it’s a game changer.

Hospice Help. Thank you thank you! I am a hospice volunteer and visit hospice patients in their home or at a nursing center. Many have severe hearing loss. With the Live Transcribe app I am able to easily converse with them. It brings them joy to “have a conversation”. They are so appreciative. Thank you!

Terry W Bass. Wonderful app. I use to record voice mail messages on my answering machine. Also have greatly enhanced my conversations with customers. I am 90 percent deaf. This App is what has been needed. If people try it they will succeed in hearing thru visual. I will promote this App strongly. I am 80 years old and simple to use. Terry W Bass Helena, Montana

Incredibly Accurate and Fast. I’m using this at a conference right now and WOW this is life changing. I’m going to try to use this for conversations as well. I have an auditory processing issue and FREQUENTLY mishear people and it drives me and them crazy.

Fantastic!!. Being completely deaf, live transcribe has been vital to all my communication, from conversations with my spouse to dealing with the public in every aspect! Thanks so much for all you do!!

Great App. This app is the best!! I have been looking for an app that could transcribe for me and this app has been awesome. I have only have a few words that failed to translate properly. I give it a 10/10!

Best transcription app ever!. I have been using this app to transcribe speeches for me to look at later. I easily tried a dozen transcription apps specifically made for that, and I was unhappy with all of them. I am so glad I found Live Transcribe! I mention it to people all the time. Keep up the good work!

Short lived happiness. It had gotten to the point where conversations were almost impossible. Cochlear implant failed. Hearing aid struggling. This app was the answer to all my prayers….for about 3 hours. And then it just stopped. I subscribed for a year, with 3 day free trial. I got 3 hours of fabulous. Then had to subscribe again to get it to start working. Only time will tell how long subscription 2 lasts. But I am desperate enough for it to work that I was willing to subscribe again. Fingers crossed.

Do not get if you are Deafblind and require braille. This is not accessible with voiceover and braille displays for Deafblind people. Also, if you want to write to the company-- which I tried to do, you must fill out a CAPTCHA, either audio or visual, and being Deafblind, I can do neither, so this is the only way I can communicate with the dev. I find it frustrating that the maker of an app for accessibility puts their contact form behind an inaccessible captcha. There are better ways of weeding out spam. Do not download this app if yAre deafblind and require braille. It will freeze up your display and you will have to exit the app to regain functionality.

Great help for hearing disabilities. I have 6% understanding. This app has has been a Godsend. I take it with me wherever I go. This year has been so difficult because people wear masks. I’m used to reading lips. Thank you for this. It has made my life and relationships much easier. I’m sharing it with all my friends who have difficulty hearing. God bless all of you!

Live Transcribe is Awesome. I have profound hearing loss. I have a hearing aid but am still unable to understand conversations. I downloaded Live Transcribe and the pro version is perfect for knowing what is being said with more than one person talking. I can actually read their words and contribute to the conversation. I feel like this could make a huge impact on my life. Being unable to communicate is a lonely way to live. Thank you Live Transcribe for this wonderful and helpful app A Thankful Costumer Alice Miner

Thank you. I wish the whole world was closed captioned. This app makes life so much easier! The work you do to make this available is life changing for people, thank you so much, it truly matters to so many people!

Problem fixed. Just coming back to update my review but it won’t let me edit. Great customer service and helped with fixing the issue of the mic not recognizing. I’m able to use my Phonak Roger Pen with this device and that’s amazing! Especially during this time where everyone is wearing masks.

Very helpful. This is the best app of its kind that I have used. It’s helpful in social settings but it’s main value to me is in the doctors office. I used to miss at least 25% of what was being said but now I am secure that I haven’t missed important information. It’s really been a lifesaver, not to mention sparing people the aggravation of repeating themselves over and over. Thank you for this app.

Hard of hearing. This has been such a great help as my hearing aids were not working properly and our son got this for me and is so helpful! One minor issue is speaker needs to be increased for my wife has a soft voice and this does not always pick up all she says!

Great when it works. It’s great when it works, but every once in a while it stops. I need transcription for work so I can’t afford to go in for a meeting then suddenly not be able to participate. All the appreciation to the developers for trying to make participation in conversations accessible though.

This has been life changing. I use this at restaurants and social gatherings and I can really be part of the conversation now. At work, I use it with the speaker phone and the person in the other end doesn’t know that the person they are talking to is hearing impaired. I love this app!

Mikey. I am full deaf. I did already found the right app .. I only have to do to turn microphone on to all hearing people who can speak louder on my iPhone. It could help me to understand what they are talking about.

Love this app so much. Super useful!. My only thing is, I desperately desperately wish I could use it on my Mac. I thought with the M1 macs I’d be able to but it’s not on the App Store. Is that coming soon? bc if not, I’ll have to switch to another díctate app and its UI is very subpar :/ anyway I love this app and I only hope it’ll improve (:

Best Transcribing App out there!. We’ve tried numerous transcription apps and this Live Transcribe is the best! For instance it’s much faster and more accurate than AVA. It’s changed my Mothers life. She’s 95 and deaf but this app allows her to participate and socialize in her retirement home!

Life-Changing!. It's not an exaggeration to call it life-changing for our family! Not only is my son, who is Deaf, included in conversations this way, but it's also an excellent tool for teaching speech and speechreading, reading, grammar, spelling, vocabulary, figures of speech, ETC! Live Transcribe is significantly more accurate than the other apps we've tried!

I’m not impressed. My mother used this app. I went to visit her and I put the free 14 day trail version. If the free version was supposed to impress me, it didn’t. It was kept messing up what I would say. It got frustrating when it got the translation wrong. I had better translation with iMessage. I don’t not like it. I think the translation to be better like I said iMessage work better than this app. I did like the fact you can split sentences when it ends. See what else is out there before you get this app.

Works Great!. Just got the app, it has a lot of different settings and handy options. I will have to use it more to really see the quality, but it seems pretty great so far!

Thank you. Thank you so much. I am deaf and also recovering from surgery which left me permanently disabled… cut nerve in the leg. I was able to read my church service on my cell phone while watching the tv today. I am not tech savvy but someone I was able to connect. The transcription was very good. Thank you again.

Thanks. I’m very pleased with Live Transcribe on my IPhone! People are often reluctant to use it for fear I am recording them but it gets me through appointments and even some video conference calls. I’m have CI and a UP hearing aid and still often need help with what is said and this is the best I have found

Awesome help caring for a hearing impaired loved one. I use this to help my 94 year old dad communicate with me, doctors etc. he is significantly impaired even with his hearing aides, but his dementia has recently made him resistant to wearing them also. I tried mini white board, etc, but this is an improvement definitely worth $50 a year.

Not worth $5 and definitely not $50. I have tried this app over and over and still it’s not anywhere near what they claim. I have an iphone SE and unfortunately I let the free trial run out before this app renewed for $50 and I couldn’t be more unhappy with it. I honestly cannot use it for more than a few minutes because it simply does not caption speech as touted. I contacted support and their only advice was to try it with an external mic. I read lips 100% and not sure that I can always plug in a separate mic for conversation. Spend your money on Otter which is awesome!!!!!

Love it. When conditions are optimal, quite, close to the speaker the App works great!! AND I completely depend on it. But when there is background noise or we are too far away from the speaker, it doesn’t work as well either. I want to try it with microphone and see if it works better. I use it everyday for personal and professional use.

Father is using in hospital. I set this up for my father and it works great, but I feel misled by the $5 monthly subscription. It doesn’t mention time limits under these subscriptions. He went through 5 hours in the first weekend and I had to buy $5 more. Very disappointed in this misleading subscription price. Glad I didn’t purchase a year, since I have no idea what that time limit would have been. Brian

Another $10/mo subscription posing as an app. Fifty dollars a year, ten dollars a month, and 5 hours a month of ‘pro transcribing’ . Unusuable without a subscription. Apple could note that in the store. But they don’t. Free trial, that automatically converts to paid unless you remember to cancel. Bait and switch tactics from the app and from Apple. Nowhere does it let a user know, functionality without subscription is broken. There is no functionality without a monthly fee.

Worth it!. Thanks for making this app! Now I don’t have to skip parent meetings or request interpreter for every school function. A bit expensive but worth it

Easy to use, great for educators. For my purposes- jotting down a few notes between individual meetings w students about what they’re working on and what to follow up with them about- LT is perfect. Sure beats taking a voice memo and transcribing it later. It’s exceptionally easy to learn, too.

I need this!. I need this because I’m deaf. Most of the people around me do not know sign language therefore, this app really comes in handy. I also use it for work. It is a tremendous help. Who ever developed this app is a genius.

Speed. The most surprising thing about this app is the speed of transcription along with the accuracy. Highly recommended, especially if one is hearing challenged as I am. $6,000 hearing aids does not solve the problem, but this is a major help.

Outstanding!. I purchased the app for my father who is hard of hearing. This was extremely helpful for him to listen in to the family conversations. It’s also helpful in restaurants, etc. Thanks so much for making this app!

Live transcribe closes within 4 seconds of opening it, without pushing anything.. Live transcribe closes within 4 seconds of opening it, without pushing anything. This stopped several days later, after updating. the app.

Amazed. I’m amazed all that you guys have accomplished and hope that you continue improve you excellent product. It has made a huge difference in my life already. Thank you so mich

Very valuable. My husband is hearing challenged. This ap was introduced to us by my daughter in law. She showed us how it allows him to join in conversations at the table with our kin. Also, it allows him to understand what I say and helps avoid misunderstandings. Sort of a marriage saver. lol. Thank you, for making this work.

Type Screen. Good app, with great potential, but I don’t quite get the “Type Screen” function. Why cannot I use a full screen when I’m typing? It only gives me half or a quarter of the screen. Also, when you are in the “Live Transcribe” mode, it adds a full stop after each sentence automatically. This should be optional, just like adding line breaks.

Exactly what I’ve been looking for. I’ve been using Live Transcribe for a couple weeks now since moving in with my grandparents - my grandmother is losing her hearing and this app has been an absolute lifesaver! The responsiveness is worlds ahead when compared to similar apps I’ve tried.

Helpful for office calls. Even with some great hearing aids, it’s always a struggle to catch conversation on virtual calls. attendees on the call use different tools and environment to talk and pick in background noises, add to it their pitch level and accents are different. This app helps normalize a lot of it and transcribe it, so not all of the conversation is a loss.

Can talk with grandma now!. I can finally talk with my grandma now! This app is great because I can make the text large enough for her to read—and in Mandarin. I couldn’t communicate with her barely at all so this is a life saver. I also gifted her this app so she can communicate with others and it’s really helping her.

Used this once but not good. I used this for a math class. The transcript was horrible. Like all of the math words (some were not even jargon-y words, words like graph and vertex) were translated to something else. When I looked at the transcript I literally was nothing like what the professor was talking about. This app has the prof talking about Michael and Apple Pay. Like how is this useful for students lol

Suggestion. Your app works 90% of the time and when it works it is a blessing. I would like to see is using different colors for different voices if that’s possible and it would make it easier for a group of three or four people sitting when my wife is reading, she might be able to understand who is talking.

Recently Deaf. I fully lost my hearing about a year ago, I’m still learning ASL, but this app has been a life saver and has allowed me to communicate with my family and the outside world - I only wish it wasn’t so expensive.

Love this app!. I have lost quite a bit of my hearing over the last 10 years. Live transcribe has given me back the ability to communicate and to enjoy activities like the movies! Thank you for creating this app for people like me.

Not for me. I was a subscriber for several months, hoping the app would approve, but it never worked out for me. At Dr offices, or grocery stores, it never made sense of what people said. Background noise? Accents? Who knows what the problem was.... Google Live Transcribe was more accurate for me. It was able to transcribe some live streaming videos for me, and I LOVE that you can flip the words upside down (keep the phone up mic closer to the speaker). Maybe I’ll give this another shot later down the road.

Life Changing App. Live transcribe has given my mother (who has profound hearing loss) her social life back! She is able to take part in conversations now where she was completely frustrated before live transcribe. Thank you and may God continue to bless your work to help others!

Without doubt it is the best APP. I use this one in meetings that there is no time to take a note or do two thing simultaneously! I am happy with it! Used to use another app, though this one is way more accurate!

Live Transcribe. This is the best thing I’ve ever used! You’re absolutely amazing and I can see why the program is so successful and I want you to know it allows me to understand & talk to my loved ones! Thank you so much!

Very good app very easy to use. I’m very hard of hearing and the basic voice to text is a great improvement in my communication with others. I eagerly await the phone voice to text capabilities. Telephone calls are impossible at this point. The basic voice to text is wonderful to use. Keep up the great work.
