CBS 8 San Diego App Reviews

Loaded up with ads. Wow what a crap update. At least it’s a new app and I can still use the old one until they shut off the server. Is there something that is supposed to be “better” about this? Ok, look, I’m an app developer myself. I know News8 doesn’t have a software development staff and got sold a bill of goods. Bad choice. Try again. Please don’t throw bad money after good and please ditch this, and stop promoting this cr*p on air. It is only to your detriment. But it’s a station that makes bad technical choices. Fix you grating on-air audio eq. It is as harsh as KUSI’s is shrill.

Live links are not reliable. The live links to video (COVID Updates, etc.) are not reliable. They often fail after the commercial ad plays and then it loops a second time. Once that happens, it is 2min into the update so I don't even bother to click on the notifications anymore. I just pull up another SD Local channel's live feed.

News Eight. Views are still slanted slightly against conservative views but of all the local networks, Eight is on the most even keel. The national morning and evening news casts however are horribly interpretive of their own views. What happened to just REPORTING the news and let the public form their own opinions?? I only watch the local News 8 for that reason.

The Best of the Best!. I’m no longer able to get San Diego local like I use to and I miss getting the weather, the FOUR, Barbara Lee Edwards! But I still get up to date information on San Diego! It’s the best of all stations and the most accurate! Thank you CBS 8 Team, for keeping me informed 🐞

Great for local news.. I have an app for international, national, and local news to keep me updated with everything. This app sends the right amount of breaking alerts. Not to many and not to little. Plus I can watch Live streaming of there local news. They have over 7 hours of LIVE news on the weekday and I don’t have to be at home to watch it.

Watching the best. I have faith in channel 8 all the time. I get an alert immediately after any incident happened. They provide great stories for reading and family entertainment. I love channel 8 for keeping me up to date.

Are there really other news stations in San Diego?. Can’t prove it in my house. I still watch my channel my San Diego news- my padres.

I gave up. Used the traffic map part of the app everyday. Fast & real time. Now hit traffic and get articles—no map. Worked with it several —gave up & deleted app. Loaded channel 10 app instead. Works great!

Great app and user experience. I like the app redesign - easy to navigate. I also like the customizable features.

Great local news app. Overall I'm happy with the focus on the region and the local updates. Ways to improve would be for more diverse sub sections of reporting

Information. Many times when I need information and can’t get it locally (Washington) I go to this station

Search. I love news 8 but wish the app had a search feature

So far 2 strikes and many attempts. Ok after several days, and multiple tries I am almost done. Strike 1) Glitching and slow. I can scroll about half way down a page and then it jumps back to the top. I prefer to read the news quickly than to watch it. I thought maybe it is just this one story nope it happens on most of them. Strike 2) I set up my preferences and I now have to scroll even more to get to the local and national or world news. (I don’t want the fluff and stuff stories.) Strike 3) Hasn’t happened yet. Well we all know what happens after 3 strikes ... 😕

Connecting to the News. Love this APP. I don’t subscribe to cable because it doesn’t provide value. So I cut the cable and Subscribe to entertainment content via the internet. This left me needed to rely on broadcast TV for my local news and weather. This is the best app i have found for local news and weather. Rabbit ears on my TV a a little unreliable.

Add audio. It would be good if there is an audio option only too (for example like listening to podcasts while driving or working out).

Tried but no thanks. Tried the app and the first thing I noticed is how laggy it is when scrolling. Second is that while trying to read an article, the paragraphs start moving and add start to appear. After every paragraph is an ad. Sorry, this is far to full of ads, at least nbc7 or fox5 San Diego doesn’t have half of ads as this one does. But it’s also just to buggy and ad ridden for me to keep on my iPhone. Deleted

Love KFMB News. We rely on Channel 8 KFMB for our news, on TV and our phones, iPads and PC. when we need to watch the evening news elsewhere due to a sporting event, it always makes us appreciate your station even more. Wish I wouldn’t have updated!. This app is so ad filled it’s annoying! You cannot copy and past anything from the news article so as to share. You cannot “enlarge” any photo as was today’s article about SDG&E tier pricing! Terrible app, used to be my favorite go to news source via phone and TV but both haven’t gotten worse. No surprise the viewership has dropped, and I’m another one until you get it fixed.

No tracking = no information! DELETED!. Today, 11 July 22, the app asked me to enable tracking on my iPad to "support local journalism." When I didn’t enable it, the app just went to it’s background photo - no information of any kind was available. If I do enable tracking, will you hire a weekend "journalist" who knows that the "Prix" in Gran Prix doesn’t rhyme with "sticks"? I understand limiting expanded material, like searching previous material, to those who pay, but today’s headlines? Fortunately, there are still other news departments willing to give us information about what’s happening in our city today. Buh-bye!

I love CBS CHANNEL 8 !. I love watching channel 8 CBS . I feel like they are lighthearted and show concern when things are Bad ! I love the way every Newscasters relate like best of friends !! I am also happy Natasha is from my home state of Delaware !! At least that’s what I herd her say one time ! Bless all of you !

Ur live news. The news keeps breaking up with no sound at all! Go back to what y’all were doing before you had added the weather area.

Karlene’s weather report. I enjoy hearing the weather report from Karlene. She is so pleasant and her voice is equally beautiful.

Great job!. Only news app I use for local news. I even have the notifications on because they are seldom and when they do happen are actually important and prompt.

Channel 8 news. I love hearing the latest news for this area

Why Change?. I’m not sure why there is not built in mirroring function for Apple TV for the local news. I loved watching the 6 am & 5 pm broadcasts and being able to use my phone simultaneously. Now, I can’t even bring it up as there are mini segments that make it more difficult. What a bummer!

Use to enjoy the app. But now that CBS 8 has obviously taken a more left leaning stance towards politics and the Republican Party as well it’s see ya. I am mostly apolitical and am of the opinion that no one particularly party can or ever will have all the answers and that being said I’m out. Start reporting the news and not you slant that’s your job.

Formal complaint Submitted to FCC. During a large fire in San Diego, local ABC and NBC stations broke into regular programming to update viewers on evacuations. San Diego’s CBS-8, however, was blacked out for any customers of AT&T’s DirecTV. The local CBS affiliate is in a dispute with the AT&T television provider over fees and has discontinued all broadcasting. AT&T and CBS-8 put corporate greed above the safety of their customers and viewers during a local emergency and should be fined.

News coverage. Excellent news coverage over the entire county…and yes.. even Oceanside. Not just SD. Thank you 🌹

Good source of local news!!. This app will provide you with great and up-to-date coverage of what is happening in our communities, state and nation.

CBS8 SD.. I love this station because all of my favorite shows are on there, including Ghosts. I am a Moderator of the Ghosts page and am a Ghostie. There are other shows I like too but sad that So Help Me Todd was cancelled. The best thing is that I love watching your weather girl who you actually can understand and of course Styles who is so cool too

App Unusable. I’m not using “unusable” in a snarky manner. I’m being literal. When I try to open the app or click on alerts, a prompt fills the screen asking me to select my privacy preferences. In fact, it overfills the screen, so I can’t respond and can only swipe up and close the app. Is there a fix?

Edit Issue (Kavanaugh). I want to delete my post and I am unable to do so. I dislike the barrage of negative comments that ensued.. I think I have to unfollow Ch8 since I cannot delete my comment.

Great for the most part. I watch in the afternoons and I only person I can hear without turning the sound way up is Anna Loral and the commercials. The sound balancing is way off. If you don’t mind turn the volume up and down every few minds the app is great.

Good except for some weird weird ads. App functions great, does the job of bringing in local news. However, the ads on here are super super weird. There are so many odd casino ads, and you cannot skip at any point. I finally deleted the app because they just got to be too much. I would suggest working with a better ad-placement company, there are so many great local ones to work with.

Awesome SD coverage!. We think Channel 8 creates such heartwarming features that bring out the best in the people of San Diego-Especially the Zevely Zone! You’re reporters seem to really put their hearts into their jobs and it shows! Thank you!

My opinion as a blind person, using the News eight app. Mostly I enjoy using the app. I do enjoy the updates especially important breaking events occurring here in San Diego. Because I am partially blind. Are use a special application on my iPhone. This application helps me to navigate and use websites, and to read text. This application is called “voice over“. The voiceover app has a hard time navigating the news eight app. I sometimes cannot advance properly on News stories. And I cannot play the videos displayed on the News eight app. Because I am partially sighted I turn off the voice over app, and activate the videos without it’s benefit. This sometimes causes me to have more difficulty while trying to enjoy the articles, or stories offered. Overall I very much enjoy the convenience of being able to hear breaking news on the go. It’s also fantastic to be able to enjoy the great news eight coverage pretty much wherever I’m standing. Since downloading the News eight app I have also found myself watching more news eight on my own television at home. Thank you for your attention. CBS 8. Best station on television.

Don’t waste your time with this news app. This is the third attempt by news 8. It seem every year the make a new news app. So far every time I try to use it it works for about 30 seconds and freezes up. Why I have to download a new app every year is beyond me

More ads and commercials than usual. 30 seconds ads for every video. NBC doesn’t make theirs that long. App is buggy and doesn’t load sometimes. So much unnecessary “DISCOVER” section. App rating speaks for itself already. I don’t need to say much more.

Excellent app. Excellent source for news and coverage of what’s going on in San Diego and beyond!

New app is no good. After they updated this app to it’s current design I do not like it. It doesn’t seem organized and the ads really get in the way! The old app was way better. Will delete today.

Three strikes and out. I have given this app three chances and it has failed all three times. It just keeps loading and loading and that’s all it does. It is very frustrating so I am done with it!

All it is is ads. It’s very slow everywhere you turn there’s another ad. I could not read even a part of one news article without an ad. I’ll be deleting it immediately. Petit, News 8 used to be my favorite.

Ads, Ads, and more ads. ... on every page, at the top, in the middle as you scroll, really? And, they flash, so it’s impossible to read anything. I cannot believe the high level reviews. Removing it from my device. Try the other guys. Far superior.

Too many pop up ads. It would probably be a good app if when you want to watch breaking news you wouldn’t get pop up ads for games???

New Anchor. Chris Gros is excellent when he fills in and of course is brilliant out in the field.

New is not better. Strike three, I’m done. This used to be the best local news source, until it was “upgraded and improved”. 1. Freezes all the time. 2. The preferences I selected are no where to be found. 3. Full of useless junk and ads. Bye.

Crashes all the time. This app crashes all the time! The old app at least worked. Way too much animation on opening the app! Please fix.

Not user friendly. The app is confusing. It isn’t clear where the news even is! Adds and other fluff is everywhere. Top headlines should be easy to find and scroll through

Get it together!. New app is a mess... vote button takes you no where, search bar does nothing, scrolling is a joke... why release an app when it has so many issues? Poor planning, poor execution... love news8 but regarding app, get it together!

Crashes and User interface needs improvement. The second day I used this app it crashes. The top navigation banner is too large. It takes away a lot screen space. It should be more narrow. There is a top and bottom navigation banner when there should be just one. It’s taking up so much screen real estate to have 2 and is redundant. There is also an advertisement banner as well. This adds up to 3 banners that block my screen when I try to read the news. This app is barely useable to me.

Zevaly Zone. I REALLY enjoy watching the Zevaly Zone whenever I can!!!!
