Best news media available. We watch KGW because they have the most balanced news media out there. We also love “The Story” and all the folks seem like they care and also have a sense of humor at the same time. We’ll keep watching.

Repetitive News. I look at this app everyday expecting to find fresh news. Everyday I am SO disappointed! There are usually one or two new stories, and the rest of the feed is full of stories that have been there for days or weeks. So. Lame! I also subscribe to the KSL app from SLC, UT. They have several new stories everyday. I wish KGW would do something similar.

Can’t get past first page listing top stories. The old version of the app worked fine for me with no problems. Switched to new version 2 days ago and get the welcome page and then the list of a few top stories, unable to open the menu or any of the story links or the settings option.

Prefer the old app. I liked being able to chose local or national news with one click. Also keep keep getting multiple page refreshes while I’m reading a story, mostly for ads. Not a fan of the new app.

Especially like 4:00 news.. Never miss Chris,Cathy, Matt, and, Cassidy @ 4:00. Feel like they’re family friends; news lately is raising my blood pressure, but they let us know what’s going on without the hype. Favorite is “What’s on Matt’s Mind.” Always fascinating and articulate. Many Thanks. P.S. Still don’t have cable or streaming TV. Appreciate you remaining accessible to us technophobes.

The attitude I have pork channel 8 news. I kind of precise and accurate. I enjoy watching it. I spend more time on this new station and I didn’t want any other.

Much less user friendly than previous version. I found this app difficult to navigate and didn’t like all of the ads popping up

Uninstalling. Why to uninstall: 1. Adding a favorite puts a bookmark to the top story to that category above the category listing. So, not only did you not get a convenient shortcut to access on the front page of the app, it only has one story in it. 2. Orientation on the iPad only works in two directions. Unless you enjoy reading upside down with the home button on top. 3. The story listings as a giant photo with headline means there is a LOT of scrolling 4. Stories aren't listed in chronological order so you have to scroll and figure out if something is new. 5. And everything else others have listed. I'm glad I don't work for whoever developed this app, it is an embarrassment of even basic usability.

Needs lots of work. I find the new app hard to use. * The ads pop up, and disorients me when they appear. They should be preloaded. * There something with the swiping that makes me loose my spot. I end up going back and forth and then land on a favorite topic page. If there is horizontal scrolling on the page, make it more obvious. When I swipe the little blue dots, it takes me to a new page, not the horizontal scroll. I have to know to swipe below that indicator. Fix that peice, and it will help. * Video and Images lost their preview pics, and are just gray boxes. My home connection is fantastic, so it’s not a weak connection. Pull to refresh did not work. * Dud I mention the Pop-in ads? This is a bigger for me, so mentioning it twice. I hate apps that load ads while I am viewing something, and then move my screen. I understand ads are essential for making money, but there is a better way.

IF YOU DO THIS ONE THING i’d use it all the time. If i click the push notification to read the article… y’all like to link to other stories when you add in lil juicy info morsels - ya got me here another click, but then when i’m done with that one i have no way of going back to the previous article. it just takes me back to the homepage, and since the notification was from 12 hours ago the article isn’t even near the top and i ain’t tryin to look for it

Not Happy About Your Chsnged Web Page. Your previous website made it so easy to find the news stories. Then maybe a year ago or more you changed the format. Now your news stories are difficult to find all in one section. And you keep old news stories up on the site forever! I look at CNN, Washington Post, Guardian, New York Times, OPB,etc., online and none of them have the visually chaotic format you do. I often will now view OPB just to get a straightforward view of the news. I was a marketing executive for a number of years in Silicon Valley and managed a creative team including the webmasters and so I have some background in working to create a visually effective website for the public. Your site is not working well for us readers.

Update more frequently please. Hello, I am watching your app from out of state as I have family members who needed to evacuate due to the tunnel 5 fire. I had a lot of trouble finding updates online. This app had the most info I could find, but did not update frequently enough for people trying to find daily updates to see if our family members are still safe and wondering if the fire is more contained and what the level for evacuation is. Other than that, at least I was able to find this app. I’m glad all people remained safe. Thank you to all who worked to contain the fire and keep people and animals safe.

Chester weed. This app is as good as the old one except I do not like the difference in the weather radar. I haven’t figured it out yet where the old one you could go all over the northwest I have not figured out how to even see castle rock wash. Yet where is the instructions? Or are we just suppose to know how this app works? Enjoy your morning show watch it everyday, yes at 4:30am I’m a natural early bird

Great weather info. Mostly use the KGW site for checking current weather conditions & forecast. The weather radar is especially useful.

Needs Restart App Feature. This app consistently hangs up when switching pages… especially after kgw uploads new content throughout the day. The blue “loading” wheel will turn and turn. The only way to reset the app is to power down and restart the device. There should be a reset feature in the settings menu for the app.

LOVE THE APP!. Love the app, use it often. Once in a while some content takes too long to load, but that might be my WiFi (?).

Just not good. Be EXTREMELY carefully when scrolling through, because you will very likely get redirected to the app store for some useless app. This is a recent issue- for some reason this puff something whatever app is just waiting to be installed. You don't even have to touch the ad, just somewhere near for the annoying popup. Uninstalling kgw.

My small beef with the new website. The only thing that really bugs me is how LONG I have to wait for the news. The “Good Morning” “Good Evening” waiting gets on my nerves! When I click on the AP I want the news, not a peaceful greeting. But it is beautiful! 66 year old Female 👩🏻‍🦳

Commercials are rediculous. I was very excited to download the new app, but now that I am using it, I’m going to delete it. I don’t mind commercials, I know they pay for the app. I’ll watch them, but it is ridiculous that every time you click on a new story/video another 15 second commercial comes up. Then On top of that if you are watching the live segment you also get the commercials that are on the actual tv. I can see one or two commercials, but this is too much and not worth the app. Sorry KGW, your old app was much better.

Traffic. Where’s the local traffic map. Previous version was easier to navigate in. I don’t want to see the video the highlights in Kentucky today!! Local Please!!! KGW are you going to respond to Portlanders questions !

Traffic?!. I drive home from work on a VERY busy highway. I have my daughter check the traffic before I get on the highway and I heard that this app an upgrade. I told her to download it and she did. She looked for several minutes and couldn’t find the map with the colored roads to show where the traffic is. We ended up stuck in traffic for 40 minutes instead of getting home at normal time. Please fix this. I don’t want that to be repeated!!!!

Like a Bad Version of Click Bait. The application is wrought with advertisements that hover over news content and pull customers off of the page into a rabbit hole of garbage. This isn’t a news application as much as it is a repository of ads pocketed with predominately negative stories about human suffering and crime. If you wanted to help contribute to the pool of tools that do little more than increase our local pandemic of depression you have hit the nail on the head.

No good. Unnecessary update. Just bring back the old app.. This app is hard to use...what was wrong with the old app with tiles and pictures of the top headlines? Now we get one headline and tiny text showing (at times) week old headlines. I read the “headline story” talking about how to use and customize the new app...so now I have a page full of tiles I have to browse to that contain duplicate information. First clue that you’ve developed a bad app: you have to publish a news story about how to use it Oh and not to mention every time you open the app you get an unnecessary (albeit pretty) splash screen that takes 5 or 10 seconds to get out of the way. Just open already!!! What do we want? Quick and easy! What did we get? Slow and complicated. I’ll be reading my news elsewhere.

Wildfire coverage has been great. Thank you for your thorough coverage of the wildfire out in Molalla! With all the focus on santiam canyon, it was hard to find any info about the Wilhoit Fire and if my family farm might have survived.

One thing.. Ever since I got the app it appears to be harder to navigate then when I would just go to goggle to get to KGW. Can I get the live cast with the app? Always prefer KGW because the news reporters always have seemed relatable and down to earth. Oh! And we love Maggie Vespa.... and everyone else. Morning, Evening you’re all great.

Keeps freezing.... 😣. I’ve uploaded the new app and deleted my old app... but this new app keeps freezing to where I can’t move around in it or even get out of it... I’ve tried rebooting my phone (iPhone 8) and reloading app.. still froze.... my internet is excellent, over 100mgs.. ???

Just dumb. This “update” is beyond terrible, and a great disservice to loyal viewers who regard KGW as the best source for local news. I suggest everyone who is frustrated by this poorly-designed app to try the KOIN 6 app; it has a similar look/feel as the old KGW app (before it went off the rails).

Too bad zero stars isn’t an option. Intrusive ads pop up all over each story as you attempt to read and scroll through them. Also, the same old stories remain in the list for weeks after they are no longer relevant. Terrible User experience and human factors considerations of how a user expects to read local news stories.

Quick news. I love being alerted to real time news and being able to access it throughout the day to keep on top of what’s happening! It’s easy and informative.

KGW. Programming We have missed the Local news and weather reports. I watched it 2-3 times per day. Sadly I attempted to purchase NBC live streaming but was unable to do so. I have the CBS now Paramount plus. If Dish keeps this up we will no longer require their satellite. Thanks

Eh....used to be better. Full of repulsive ads that don’t apply to me or interest me. Video is slow to load and has commercials. There’s a LOT of advertising on this app. Sometimes videos stories don’t load then I have to watch the ad again. 😒 don’t like the new platform and they miss a bunch of local interest. Please improve immediately.

Want local and national news fast? Go to KGW.. I am a news junky who has watched all the websites for our local area and have found KGW’s app the best of the bunch. It is easy to navigate, is accurate, and they don’t miss anything. I have watched the local competition and have found their websites difficult to navigate and not as complete as KGW.

Not organized. Information is doubled and not the same. In other words sometimes the report on deaths has two different totals, unorganized, scattered. And what happened to the map for traffic? Showing red where traffic is slow!

App freezes all the time. I have decided to chose another local news station app. This new updated version is horrible. Terrible navigation, hard to find articles except the top 5 that they want you to see. And then once I click on a link, it freezes and I can’t navigate anywhere on the page. The new upgrade is worthless. Shouldn’t have fixed what wasn’t broken.

Bummed. This app is harder to maneuver through than the previous. The titles of stories have smaller font and hard to read. It seems very disorganized and not much rime or reason for why stories are where they put. Its not user friendly. I have to do to much scrolling to find different stories. It makes me want to go find another website to get my information.

Something to take note.. I’ve had this app off and on for a LONG time.. my biggest suggestion .. we need news faster and more at our fingertips ... if we had time to watch your commercial or commercials at all why would we chose an app to catch up.. cut all people off from ads and give us locals the “real news” we LOVE I REFUSE ABSOLUTELY ... REFUSE to watch anyone else’s news broadcast or even subscribe let’s check my social media nothing KGW is my local hometown news! You guys are rock stars let’s keep shining also let’s talk more POSITIVE where are the news journalist Whatever happened to finding a really really good story. Find support groups for people of all situations have them hammered with a banner at the bottom of you’re news cast and make sure to bring it to the light it’s the season of loneliness and the true feeling of no love... suicides are at a higher rate due to the holidays! Weather Review. Love the weather app. Been enjoying listening to Matt and Rod for years! Would be nice not to start the weather and than interrupt it for advertisements.

Terrible Revision. Very poorly organized and difficult to use. Most frustrating - instead of returning to the location on the page where an item was opened, upon closing always returns to top of page forcing user to scroll through entire page again. Previous version was much better. Have always used KGW for local news, now looking for alternative app.

Note from Ross Hamilton. My rating will go up, I’m sure, as I familiarize myself with KGW’s site. I’m just new to it, but so far what I’m seeing, it looks great and navigates beautifully. Gotta love the engaged hard news coverage. Accurate, careful, attributable journalism...a good thing for all citizens.

Incessant ads must go!!!. Update: Thank you for doing away with the ads for a short period of time but then you brought them back! 😩 A lot more people would use the app if you didn’t force us to watch 15-30 seconds of ads before we can view a news clip with volume! Super disappointed that wasn’t a permanent change! Although the news about the coronavirus is less urgent now, I want to follow news about George Floyd’s murder and the movement it has sparked that demands prompt and permanent change in how people of color are treated. Please find another way to show ads rather than showing teaser news clips on mute that make you view an ad to have volume!!!! *********** I love the notifications of breaking news but the same repetitive OHSU Health ad that you are forcing people to watch over and over for 15-30 seconds before we are allowed to view a 1-2 minute news snippet is ridiculous! And if we want to watch more than one news snippet, we have to watch the same annoying ad over and over. I get that advertising pays your bills but in light of the global pandemic & the public need for TIMELY updates on the health crisis that directly impact all of us, I would argue that a reduction in mandatory viewing of ads is very much overdue.

Child Shooting’s. This isn’t a review, but I like KGW. Question,..could we see pictures of the slain children in mass shootings? I am totally aware of the abhorrent thought of this. I understand the complexity of it as well. My argument is we as a society really brush off these incidents and our law makers won’t do anything about it because they want to keep their jobs,….well most of them, but not all. I just think it’s time to make this problem one that we can’t ignore any longer. It’s one thing to hear about it, but might be quite another to see it. My thoughts are the sensitivity of it for families and loved ones might be offset by their hopeful and meaningful change in our laws. Let’s all see just how abhorrent this thing we allow to happen, really is. I think the shock value is necessary. Imagine the outrage.

A trusted source!. I’ve always looked too KGW as my source for accurate and timely news- national and local. I’ve been continually impressed and appreciative of the talent and knowledge of all their presentations. It’s the source I check in with first thing in the morning- My trust is that deep!

App issues. It takes several try to watch the videos as the app closes when the play button is selected

Adds are repeated over and over. This version of the app is terrible. KGW has finally changed their website back to a readable interface. Can’t stand the repeating content. Trying to find weather info is hard. Keep it simple. I don’t mind the ads if they don’t repeat. And don’t need all the graphics either. I want news I can read.

Love KGW but not the app.. Love KGW news. However this app is cluttered with things that have nothing to do with current news. It seems day after day the same stories from days prior remain and only a few updated stories. My main gripe is the weather section. Once I click on the forecast it crashes. I have sent many complaints about this but no fix. I deleted the app and will rely on another local news app.

KGW is an example of excellent journalism!. I’m a lifelong Oregonian and I have been a news addict for most of my adulthood. KGW proves to give unbiased information to its viewers and has concerns for exploration of facts, for providing accuracy , timeliness and broader viewpoints.

Let’s turn our attention to the election. Folk’s, Trumpateers are gloating at Portland’s continued protesting right now. It plays right into their agenda to convince others that the lawless need a firm hand. Protesting is our right, but, right now we should be addressing a progressive agenda including the most important, voting Trump out of office. Ok but not as useful as the previous app. How do I search for a story I’m interested in? The layout is not good. Navigation is difficult. What is the star? A like? You need easily accessible categories and a search function. Sorry, love your news don’t like the app. Is this part of the Iowa Caucus App?

No no no. This is horrible! Thanks goodness for the KATU news app. There was really nothing wrong with the old version. With this one you have to go into different sections and try to find headlines that you’re interested in. The layout is really bad. It looks like the developers did the same thing to the KING 5 news app for Seattle.

Garbage. KGW Is pretty much worthless when it comes to reporting real news. I’d almost rather watch CNN! That being said, I do use this app for weather info around the PNW but unfortunately half the time when I open the app and click weather, the app just closes and it’s been doing this for years. Complete junk

I tried to like it.. I keep opening it thinking it is going to get better but it stays terrible. Impossible to navigate. Can’t even share the article you want to share. When you hit the tiny share button it try's to share some random article! Seriously...did anyone try this first!

Horrible app. Why did you do this to your followers? The old app was much better organized and had features that are missing from this app. The old app did crash all the time, but I continued to use it anyway. I’ve been a follower for many, many years. Now I’m switching to the KOIN app. Please bring back the old app as this one is a real step backwards.

KGW News. I used to live in Portland but now live on the East coast. I like to keep with news of the Rose City and KGW helps me to do that.

I switched to Oregon Live. This app is ultra annoying. It autoplays a video, then stopping the video requires playing a video ad. The local news is waaaaaay down on the list, then it shows full articles about things I don’t care about before showing what other articles are available. All splash, no function. That’s the way the Internet is nowadays.

The best station in Portland!!. We travel and nowhere does the local news stations measure up to KGW! The entire staff of reporters are excellent!!!

Terrible. This new app is nearly useless. I used the former app every single day and it worked wonderfully. New app is confusing and extremely difficult to navigate. I can’t imagine why anyone decided this was ready to go live with so many issues. I’ll give it a couple more tries before I delete.

App has degraded over time. I have had this app for several years but I find the latest version is hard to use. I have difficulty finding the articles that I am interested in. I would like to see the old format back that has all the categories outlined on the main page. I just deleted it and switched to another provider.

Really appreciate the traffic map. I check the traffic map before heading out to inform me of bottlenecks and wrecks

Turn off the ads during emergencies!. Sitting through a commercial, especially when cell service is spotty, to find out if you need to evacuate due to fires or when learning about virus outbreaks is not only irresponsible but dangerous! Be a better neighbor please!

Sleek but pointless update.. Prior version was better. A definitive step backwards. Have to endlessly scroll down for traffic. Then the traffic alerts screen comes up blank

Your notifications don’t go to the story. Why send a notice about a news item that can’t be found on the app? I want to jump direct to the item not have to try to find it through all the other clutter. Deleting app.

What a downgrade!. The app is pretty clunky overall and not well organized- but worst of all when you scroll the list and tap on a story the back button in the story puts you back to the top of the list! This is infuriating. KGW please restore the old app, which while buggy, was better than this one.

Don’t like this app. I don’t like this app nearly as much as the old one. I would wake up every morning excited to see my KGW news, but now I feel like this new app is hard to navigate. I like the old app that had pictures for the articles. Sorry to say, but I don’t use this as much any more and I am going to switch to another local news app.

App Crashes. The old app worked much better and didn’t constantly crash and bog down like this one. Bad app.

Traffic!!. This new app is all fluff and no reliability. Ads show up randomly, sending your click to an article or ad you did not want. And the traffic!! No more text alerts and now I’m staring at a Waze nightmare. If I wanted to use Waze (which I don’t), I would get the app. Please, please correct this section to something user friendly!

KGW is the Best. Best news channel in the Pacific Northwest! I appreciate the work of KGW! Local news, human interest and ‘The Story’! This is what news should be and they do it well 😊

Weather forecast crashes app. Tap into Weather, then tap into the forecast narrative. The app crashes. I have iPhone 12 Pro and iOS 14.4. Oh yes, it also does this on a Pixel 3 with current monthly update. Otherwise, one of the better local news apps with fewer annoying features than KOIN.

Perfect... Very easy to use app and I get my news in the morning! I love it.

Poor app. It used to be my go to app for local news. Now I never use it and am deleting it. Frustrating as KGW is my favorite news station but the app is unusable and I can never find what I am looking for. This app is as disappointing as when Donald Trump got elected president

Terrible. This is not user friendly! Articles are difficult to quickly discern from ads. There are two many ads and it’s very difficult to navigate. I will be looking for a new news app. Unfortunate, since I have always watched and read my news from KGW.

Too many annoying ads. The content is great - I can barely use this app however because of the near constant flickering advertisements - soooo distracting - I would pay for an ad free version if it was available -

Poor performance. This app is plagued with performance issues. The user experience is jerky and disorienting, about as bad as I’ve ever seen. Still I keep the app on my phone for its content. On balance I prefer the old app. I hope they will do it right next time.

Must-have for Portlanders. Easy to use, pretty to look at, and has all the info you need if you want to be in-the-know in Portland and beyond.

Pretty but glitchy. The app looks good, great actually, but it always seems slow loading and glitchy. It makes it too hard to scroll through stories. Fox 12 app is plain but functional, so I use that one 10:1 over KGW.

KGW Short News Updates. I like being able to quickly check in with the KGW news app to get a heads up on what’s going on locally.

Hate new update. This new update is horrible - the font is way too small and the layout is messy- are you scrolling up and down or left right for the stories. I will be deleting this app- and using other local Channels- this used to be my go to news app.

A little buggy. Best Portland news source but this app tends to be buggy. Crashes too often when trying to open an article, eg. the current weather forecast.

What was wrong with the old one?. I hate it! Used to have it on my phone and tablet ever since this new version came out I’m following another news station. You need to go back to old format, it was more intuitive and better After writing this I’m removing it from all my devices.
