Coming from someone born and raised in the U.S. This app is beautiful and unlike anything I’ve seen before. It’s a great supplement for duolingo and other language learning apps, as well as works on its own.
English words in Hindi letters. I love the concept of this app but their vocabulary list for intermediate learners is pathetic. The majority of words I’ve been given so far are English words in Hindi script. Such words include: bakery, department store, confectionary store (which is wrong...it should be sweet shop), toaster, blender (actually called a mixer or grinder by my Hindi speaking friends) just to name a few. They also give an entire sentence as the word for mixing bowl which is ridiculous. It’s just a bada katora, literally big bowl.
Day 1. Day one was good just wish I can pick what kind of words you want to know
Fix Romanization. I really like the app, I enjoy practicing an hammering down my vocabulary. This with a grammar book is an excellent way to learn Hindi, especially since this app offers excellent pronunciations of words - something you obviously can’t get with a book. However, the romanization of the script in this app is really bad. Anedaa(Egg/अंडा)? That does not follow the standards of the International Phonetic Alphabet, which honestly does not have much difficult standards to follow. Egg should be romanized to andaa.
This App is great!. I’ve been using this app for a couple of weeks now and I usually don’t write reviews, but this app is spectacular! I would definitely recommend this to anyone who trying to learn Hindi. Even though I don’t have a premium subscription I still have access to a lot of things, unlike most apps which would ask you to pay in the first 3 days.
Wonderful. I love how it repeats the words in different order. Then throws in the native spelling. It’s amazing. I highly recommend this app
Very easy to use and love the design. The display of the app is fabulous, haven’t seen an educational app this good in a LONG time. I’m so happy with it. The learning cycle it provides is highly effective. I downloaded drops for two other languages too. Highly recommended!
Great learning app. I like the format and it had so much more Hindi content than Duolingo
Fun and Easy. It’s not bad. It’s pretty fun, easy, and they pack as much in to 5 minutes as you could reasonably expect.
Drop. It is a good way if you have some familiarity. As a beginner I would like a function to be able to repeat the sound as many times as needed say it correctly.
Fantastic memory drills!. Drops is an amazing mnemonically based learning system using drills. It’ll be having you dropping Hindi bombs at your next Diwali party! Namaste!
Names of Devanagari letters?. I learned the Devanagari alphabet about 15 years ago. Trying to refresh what I knew then with this app is only partly useful. I can’t give exact examples (since my 5 minutes of screen time are up today), but there are a lot of letters whose pronunciations are similar but Drops gives them names seemingly unrelated. Example (from memory) I’ll see a Devanagari symbol and hear “fa” and Drops will label that “fi”. When you get to the “N” group it’s impossible to keep them straight. And Drops adds in a couple of conjuncts which I’d never seem before (the “L” group) Other then that, it’s kind of fun. I wonder how I would learn to actually create sentences though.
Good-quality and innovative. They turn learning Hindi into a sort of game. I think it’s a pretty good way to teach Hindi.
Coming back after 3 years. I’m focused.. Has very helpful games for spelling! The bite sized lessons are what I need when studying without my workbooks. For conversation or sentences I can pick up on conversation quicker. Please have more games and a web version and I know I’d definitely will become a subscriber. Beautiful work to the developers.
Just started using this app. But so far, I really like the clean interface and intuitive approach to learning language. Was disappointed that Duolingo hadn’t yet created its English to Hindi course, but not now! This will give me a great head start. :)
Love it. Really like how it gives you basic words repeated to learn it, would be better if it gave you 15mins instead of 5
Simple and interactive. I love how it’s simple, and uses most of our senses: touch/interactive, visual, auditory. Since it’s a quick-learning language app, it would make sense there’s not a writing tutorial part - but that would make it all the better!
Very Engaging. Fun way to stay engaged while learning the language. This is good for me to learn, as I am someone who losses focus easily. 👍
Luv. Gives 5 minutes a day for free and that’s all you really need unless you are planning for a upcoming vacation and then I recommend a subscription if you want to learn more quicker
Thank you!!. This app is really helpful and fun! I'm actually learning easier with it! Thank you so much for creating this!
Brilliant cognitive connection to imagery. I am a UX global design specialist and can honestly say this is one of the most freaky Smart ways to learn that I have ever experienced. I’ll be taking this into my own product designs and future for enterprise companies. Thank you for making learning Hindi a delight.
Ehhhhh. This app is better than most free apps and the reason I gave only 4 was the voice was too slow. I feel three! Other than that, the app is the best out of the free ones.
Relaxing way to learn!. I really enjoy the format of this program, and I feel like I accomplish a lot in those five minutes. I am currently fluent in 3 languages and am aiming to get to 10. I find this app helpful to that goal.
Creative fun app. Love this app. I downloaded this one and a few others to assist me with learning Hindi. My boyfriend is Indian and I want to learn his language. It’s beautiful and I want to do this for him! The app has pictures you match with words and different categories to chose from such as food, people, etc. You may also chose to set reminders to practice everyday. One important thing I hope the developers change is that I don’t want to learn how to write or read the script. And there is no option to skip or delete this. Please fix!!
Quick and easy. Just getting started but I love the app and learning style.
Fun!. It’s a fun and interactive way to learn words and expressions. I appreciate there’s the romanized spelling in addition to the Hindi word, to understand the pronunciation as well as the way to write it. Thanks!
Neat interface and method of learning language. I like how they have created the process. So far I enjoy it better than duo lingo, which doesn't have a learn Hindi option yet.
Perfect. This app is perfect! So far I’m loving this app, in my line of work I feel the need to learn a 3rd language. This seems like it may work, I hope so anyway.
I’m so excited!. In just 5 minutes I can recognize characters! This is a great app.
Hindi. Easy and user friendly, if you get more than one app, you get a range of languages. Great for beginners
Helpful!. It has absolute basics which is good if you can’t read a language etc. doesn’t start you off half way through the basics like Rosetta does.
I love it!. It’s going really well so far! I wish I got more than 10 minutes a day but there is a subscription service available I’m just considering.
Great learning with games. I’ve tried for years to learn a language This app keeps you engaged with fun games! Helps retain words and phrases
Repetition works best for me.. So far so good. I am learning this language because I play a lot of online gaming with People from the southeast region. Using this method lacks intimidation and shows the foundation of written and phonics. Love it so far.
Great App - ten minutes would be great!. I love the repetition of words and the speaker says it correctly with the proper accent. I love how interactive it is and that it works you up through stages, making things easy to remember and build off of. I don’t like that there is only five free minutes every ten hours. I think ten minutes works be best!👍 Thank you
It’s okay. The app is pretty good so far. Two things- the 5 minute time limit thing doesn’t let me learn. I can learn bread, knife, breakfast, fish, soup and mushroom. Then I have to go and forget it all. I need more time to do this. Don’t give me a limit to how long I can learn. Also, you’re throwing all these words at me. Teach me the letters please! Just the little squiggles under words won’t teach me written words. Also, the phonetic pronunciations written are pretty inaccurate. Otherwise the app is pretty cute.
nice. it’s pretty good in helping memorizing things but only lets you practice for 5 mins every 10 hrs. Otherwise you have to pay for full access
Bouncing dreams. I really like how words are linked to the script. I pay better attention to how words are constructed compared to other apps. My biggest problem so far (I found and downloaded app only yesterday) is the constant motion. It affected my sleep! I don't yet know how much I will learn but I like that it has a larger vocabulary than another popular app I am using. I also could not figure out how to get back to the start page. I first said I was a beginner but I wanted to change the level as I have been working on Hindi for over a year. Couldn't tell whether that would have made a difference.
5 min is perfect. Pictures used with words rather than simply the English word is so much more natural for the learning process.
Good learning by targeted reputation.. This app hones in on the words and characters I got wrong each round. Visual interface is nicer and more engaging than most. Looks good.
Drops. Easy to read characters(for those of us with poor vision). Effective, highly visual techniques with associated sliding/hand gestures.
Helpful with some major flaws. This review applies to the Hindi version I enjoy this program and it has been helpful to me. Specifically the version that I started with was amazingly helpful in getting me comfortable with reading while words in Devanagari script and with breaking down words into their component letters. Earlier this year much of what was so helpful went away. Games that used to make you work to spell a word letter by letter now just require you to swipe the whole word or at most two parts of a word down to the bottom. While this gives a review of the sound of the word, encouraging letter by letter spelling was SO much more useful. A female voice teaches the verbs by reading the masculine version of a present tense sentence. “I am counting” for example. You just have to adjust , and this is not a huge flaw as long as no one doesn’t learn grammar too. Much more importantly, there are some mistaken words. The word for correct is taught as the direction right. The word for 100,000 is taught as million. It is exceedingly annoying to be forced to drill an error months after I reported it and to wonder what other mistakes I am learning that I haven’t caught. This program taught me to sound out Devanagari well, for which I am so grateful. I mourn the fact that much of that functionality disappeared with the upgrade early this year.
So far so good. So far it’s quick, engaging, and I feel like I’m getting a good start here. I’ve tried other apps for learning this that didn’t seem to work as well. Granted I’ve only had five minutes so far, so for what it’s worth.
Great way to learn. I was looking for a way to learn through images to supplement duolingo and this is great!
Great language learning app. The multi lineal platform is outstanding for learning and retaining language. I love it. The small bite sized chunking is a great way to take in small bits of info and synthesize into life over time effectively.
Great app!. I paid 99 cents for a different Hindi app that isn’t nearly as good. The voice speaks clearly. The easy game exercises help keep me from getting bored. I may have to actually buy the whole lifetime bundle. It really is a great product!
Interactive. One of the best free Hindi language learning apps I’ve seen...I love that you have the choice of a romanized or not voice.
Well worth a download. Easy to use, intuitive and helps you pick up basic Hindi no time
Super fun for quick learning. Love the games and you can play 5 mins per day for free! Can’t wait to see where I am in a few months
Love this Hindi learning app. This is not only FUN, but I’m actually learning. The most helpful part is the putting the Romanized parts of the word together to make the correct Hindi sound/word.
