What is mymerlin™ app? The Abbott Insertable Cardiac Monitor (ICM) is a slim profile device which continuously monitors your heart rhythm and automatically records events of interest as configured by your doctor. The myMerlin™ app securely and proactively transmits information per a schedule set by your doctor. The app’s intuitive user-friendly interface allows you to record symptomatic events, view past and upcoming transmissions and helps you stay connected with your doctor. This makes it easier for your healthcare provider to obtain information about your heart’s rhythm. Some ICM device models include the ability for the device monitoring settings to be updated remotely by a healthcare provider.

This app will only function once paired with an Abbott Insertable Cardiac Monitor, an implantable device available via prescription only.

Poor upgrade. The update from yesterday crashes. Consequently no records were transferred from my loop recorder to the my Merlin app. It’s unacceptable to put an upgrade out that hasn’t been thoroughly tested. Prior to this upgrade it has been a solid app.

Notification. When is the fix for the persistent notification coming

This app doesn’t work majority of the time.. The app will crash, and the support team won’t help you. You will be in a good service and have good Wi-Fi and it will not connect. They say it’s a user error however, I believe it’s a poor app design.

DO NOT GET THE LOOP OR THIS APP. Since day 1 I’ve had issues with this app. I’ve contacted customer service so many times and they always apologize and re-sync my device manually. My phone is always on my nightstand, charged, with Bluetooth on. I was told my customer service that it’s an iOS connectivity issue and that I will always have to re-sync my phone every morning. The app makes a loud annoying sound when you open it, which cannot be turned off and has a constant notification bubble for no notifications. My doctors office offers no help and just refers me to the app. At this point, I’ve deleted the app and now I just have a pointless monitor and scar on my chest.

It’s very glitchy for me. I went into the app and it kept crashing to me every time I open the app so please fix the app immediately when the app developers get a chance.

Won’t open finally just deleted and started over. App won’t open today to use. I tried others on phone they all work

App hasn’t worked in months. I’d leave no stars if I could. The past few months the app just crashes the second I try to open it. I’ve tried reinstalling and still doesn’t work. My cardiologist hasn’t got a reading in months, which is literally the purpose of this app.

ILR Failed Me. Having an episode of fast heartbeats. App won’t open. Can’t even get new app to download. Company helpline only takes calls between 8am and 4 pm EST. It is 1:AM EST. This is unacceptable. Device installed 2 weeks ago; painful insertion, scar, discolored breast and the app doesn’t work! So discouraged.

App not working. My husband had the loop recorder installed a few months ago. He went the Abbott route because he thought it was easier than the other option. When we try to now the app it just kicks us right back out. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling. No luck.

DO NOT UPDATE!!. I updated about 4 days ago. Now I cannot open the app!! I deleted it from my Home Screen. Ow I can’t even download it from the cloud. Seriously frustrated as my doctors office is messaging me to open the app! AND I CANT!! 😡😡😡

New version crashing on startup. Just updated to latest version and now app is not starting up. Closes immediately after I open it.

Terrible. Worst app ever. Down more than up. With the unreliability of it I’m surprised Drs still use it especially, to monitor heart related issues. Mine hasn’t been up in 5 days. Tired of calling for support Needs to be removed from the market

App wii not launch. Updated… figured how to fix this. The update corrupted your connection to the Loop recorder. You need to uninstall the app then reinstall the app and go through setup again entering date of birth and loop serial number. This fixes the problem. ———- Can’t open app since updating today. Did a hard restart of my phone but shill the app will not launch.

Hard to connect when symptoms occur. Most times the device can’t connect via Bluetooth between the monitor and the system. Frustrating.

App won’t open on phone anymore. I’ve had this monitor since September 2020 and it has been nothing but problems. It does not synch consistently overnight independently. I get messages several times a week that it did not upload. Now the app isn’t even opening on my phone anymore.

My Merlin stopped working. Please help. You are playing with my life! I called Monday am and your voice response system stated you are having major issues and recommended that I leave my phone number and you would call back. I have waited almost 3 days and no one has called me! As shown on your ratings, you know have more 1 stars rating than all of the others combined!, You have a serious issue.

Stopped working after update. Since the update a few days ago, the app won’t open and isn’t syncing with my loop recorder. This app is too important to have this glitch unresolved.

App Not working after update. I am sending you an email because my app is not working as of morning of Sat Jun 11. It was implanted less than 2 months ago . I need it to work for peace of mind.

Disappointing, now not working at all. Very disappointed that I have a loop recorder that cost me a fortune and the app shows nothing. I should be able to view reports and graphs of what it is recording and see transmittal logs, etc. I have an iPhone XS Max and needed to report an event today, the mymerlin app will no longer even load. Tap it, it flashes and fails to open. It’s been quite a while since I opened it so I’m betting it hasn’t been sending any reports. Very unreliable.

My Merlin. For something as important as this I would think the first time I use it it would work. The very first time the App would not even open for me to record an issue I was having.

Device and app fair but not great. Device typically does its nightly thing but way too often looses the Bluetooth connection. Almost always when I try to record a symptom I can wait 7-10 minutes for the app to connect to the device. And they are inches or a few feet away. What I was experiencing has passed. The device is as much for patients and their education and reassurance as the doctors. The app should allow text in the other symptom Because it may just be exercise, walking , playing a sport and want assurance that at that time all was ok.

Worked until yesterday. I’ve had my loop recorder since April. However, it seems a recent update of the app has made it impossible to open the app. When I touch it, it simply goes back to my screen. Upon trying to re-download it, same issue. I remember there was support info on the app but it’s impossible for me to access.

Please fix!! Won’t open for me.. For days now I haven’t been able to open it. Just shows a white screen for a split second, closes out the app and I’m back to my phones Home Screen. Really frustrating since I can’t open it and record any episodes I’m experiencing. Please fix this problem.

Connection issues. I am constantly getting alerts to connect to Bluetooth. Now I’ve received a message that the reports are not sending to my doctor to go to the app to resolve if. But now my app won’t even open at all. It just keeps crashing.

Unable to Open App. This app is useless to me if it won’t open and send my data to my dr! They continue to call me and this app hasn’t worked since update!

Good but please. Good but PLEASE take out the noise when you open the app. At this point I don’t want to open the app because i know it’s gonna make that terrible noise. Or let me at least have the option to turn it off in settings. I won’t open the app in public and it’s really an unnecessary issue.

Can’t get it to sync. I started having issues with the app and not able to get it to sync. Have callled customer service and have had no luck getting the app to open in my phone or sync to my device.

Merlin app. Worked well, no problem for over 1 year. Gave 4 stars. App stopped everything. Would not every open. Updated my phone, unable to update the App. After 2 days, I deleted the app and reinstalled. The Home Screen has been updated. I feel like an update to app was stuck. Works now!

You had one job…. This app only really has one function. To get data from your loop recorder and upload it. And on that note, it fails to even perform that one task properly. I constantly get reminders to “check my Internet connection“ when my Internet connection is working perfectly. I also get repeated admonishments to enable Bluetooth when Bluetooth is already enabled and functioning properly. of course, the one time I actually had symptoms, the app failed to upload the event. On a final note, while you are hopefully fixing these problems, get rid of the annoying little jingle that plays every time you launch the app. It is annoying and unnecessary.

Just stopped working. I’ve had my second loop recorder for almost a year and about 3-4 week ago the app just stopped working. I can’t even open it on my iPhone. I press the ‘MyMerlin’ icon and it flashes white and then closes. I obviously can’t report a problem to my doctor if I have one because the app doesn’t work. I don’t like this app.

Runs my phone battery down!. Since it has to stay connected, it runs my phone battery down and I’m constantly charging my phone or using battery charger when not at home.

App Won't Open. I'm having pain in my left shoulder boob area and going to the ER isn't an option. Trying to record it but the app won't open. When I click on it the screen goes black and then it's back to the menu screen. Abbott St Jude has had a ticket open for weeks, but that's not helpful when I need to know what's going on right now.

App does not work. I looked at the reviews when the app stopped working. There are a lot of people who had this device implanted after a recommendation from their doctor. I see a nasty class action suit in the making here and fraud complaints to Medicare who probably paid for most of the loop devices and this faulty app. Better get your act together and fix the issues before it gets ugly.

App update. Hasn’t worked since the update and upon reading many, many other reviews I’ve come to the conclusion that you all have no idea what’s going on since that is the only issue you appear to be ignoring and not responding to. Have a blessed day

Crashes. I own a development company and know I would be fired if I released something widely without enough testing and broke a life critical app like this. Thousands of dollars were spent on my device a couple of weeks ago and now it’s worthless until they fix it. You try to open the app and it crashes as soon as you try to open it, even after reboot. I do get an error message saying that the device is not able to send anything to the doctor. They put the device on me to contact my doctor in case of heart issues upon an emergency and prevent me from dying and now I’m unprotected. This is negligence.

This is the second device I’ve had implanted. This is the second time I have had this device implanted. My first device moved and they can’t even locate it! They just placed a second one in my chest. I am having infections and my scar won’t heal and itches so bad! Just an ugly scar I’m left with for what should have been a tiny slit! I also have iOS and can’t even open the app anymore! Just stopped working out of the blue. Doctors office says they have no control over it to call monitor company. It’s a back and forth game! This is horrible!!!!

Needed to reinstall app to get it to work. App wouldn’t load, I deleted and reinstalled and then it started working again. Hope I didn’t lose too much data, app has had problems for a long time.

Annoying app sounds. Please remove the dang sound when the app opens or allow us to turn it off. Obnoxious since the last update.

Absolutely Useless. Why are the developers having such a hard time providing an update that actually functions? Its so frustrating not being able to report afib episodes. This is a pretty important resource for monitoring cardiac issues and reliability is paramount!

Mymerlin. I’m having some issues with it right now. It’s not even letting me get in to the app with out getting kicked off. I’ve had this app since January of this year.

Fix please.. Updated app and now it crashes. Restarted phone. Everything else works but this app.

No longer working. Updated to latest version and no longer able to open app and getting notifications that device check is incomplete.

I wish I’d known. Every bad review is 100% accurate and, as of 4-9-22, still very much relevant. Doctor refuses to remove it and replace with a better brand (medtronic for anyone interested) because this one has only been in for a year… even though it doesn’t work. Fix your connectivity issues or get out of healthcare. Seriously.

Hate this app. 1. IOS… persistent notification message that can’t be erased/removed. - calls attention without an actual alert or message. - called the help desk. Tech was nice enough but clueless on the feature. Said that to remove it, go to settings and turn off notifications…. But they recommend not to do that! Duh. Yknow, I’m good with meaningful notifications regarding the implant. I really like to get them and have them clear once read. 2. Sign on/ check device Some igmo added a cute sound when clicking in the badge. That stops the music playing. Same with checking the device…. Really annoying.

nanaFantastic4. I am having trouble opening the app for my monitor. Every time I open the app it just closes right back it I try to press on it and it cuts of when I try to connect my monitor.

It works for me. Reading all the bad reviews has been enlightening! I’ve had my loop recorder (and MyMerlin app) for a little over 2 years. With my iPhone 8, I had occasional connection issues where the loop recorder was unable to get the info to the app. In the morning I would hold my phone near my chest, and the info would transfer. When I traded up to an iPhone 12, all those connection issues disappeared. (I also had none of the issues of dropped Bluetooth pairing and similar problems that so many reviewers mentioned.) I agree that the start-up sound on the updated app is irritating and should be made optional. And they should offer more options for the Symptoms list. Otherwise — at least for me and my setup — the app does what it’s supposed to. If it’s any consolation, because my battery is failing, my cardiologist is swapping my loop recorder out for one made by Medtronic, and the reviews for their app are as bad or worse than the ones here for MyMerlin! Apparently, medical device companies need to upgrade their app development people!

Horrible. This app is horrible. It attempts to use Bluetooth to wirelessly connect to my loop recorder. The connections have failed more times than they have worked. Abbott sent a second phone with this app on it to me, and the app doesn’t even connect to the internet. This problem has become so complicated that my own doctor doesn’t even understand what is going on. This has caused multiple miscommunications and arguments between myself and my the office staff. This is a great idea, but probably the worst execution, especially when it involves personal health.

BEWARE! Only works if you have 1 other Bluetooth connection. Within a few hours of having the loop monitor implanted, I lost the bluetooth connection. Called the help number and it turns out you can’t have more than “maybe” one other Bluetooth device connected. I had to disconnect my hearing aids and my Apple Watch in order for this to work. This app should not be on the market.

HELP. Like everyone has been saying, A HEALTH APP IS POSE TO WORK BUT NOT THIS ONE!!! I do not want to be in their shoes when (not if) they get sued by their customers. I have A-Fib and need this app working ASAP, so fix it already. STOP TELLING PEOPLE TO EMAIL YOU, just fix your app already!!!

Merlin app. Works well for me. I had some pairing issues at first but w correct activation/code it has worked fine.

I can’t believe I let this thing into my chest. I have an incredibly expensive paperweight in my chest. This app is useless, and therefore so is the device. Update following Developer Response: I don’t believe the App Store has a method for me to send a direct message to the Developer. I’ve called Tech Support many times and get many stories about how the app is supposed to work and why it isn’t working. I’ve had to have the device manually interrogated in lieu of transmissions because of unreliability, and events show up on the report I receive that do not appear to be sent when I transmit remotely! I have concerns about the accuracy of the device, the technological flaws of the app, and the inconsistencies in the explanations for both. Also was not told about recurrent charges for remote monitoring, which insurance does not cover.

Still has issues. This release of the app still has issues with disconnecting from the monitor when the patient (me) goes to bed. Phone set on night stand, a short distance (3 feet) away. When I wake-up in the morning I have to reconnect with the app. Considering how expensive it is to implant the monitor, this is unacceptable. On the plus side, it is easy to send info, once I’m reconnected. 2.5 Stars.

No connection. Can not get it to connect have tried 7 times and will not connect with my iPhone 7. This app is horrible and tells me that St Jude/Abbott have no interest to really monitor your activity because if they did they would reach out and contact me about no connection for 2 weeks!!!!

Updates Have Made a Huge Difference!. This app was already a pretty cool way to get heart rhythm info to the doc, but I’ve noticed a big difference in connectivity and ease of use since the update. User friendly, smooth transmissions, and clear info on status. A tip is to not force close your app (they recommend you don’t but sometimes it’s easy to forget). I haven’t noticed any hiccups in connection.

Data not sent message. The app used to work properly. Every morning at 2 am it would transmit. Now at 8 am every morning I get a message saying data not sent. I re-open the app and most of the time it does nothing. Sometimes it has a timer starts at 15 and counts down. This just started a couple months ago.

Update. My app updated three days ago and now I can’t open it should I uninstall and reinstall?

You have to spend hours to pair. This app is horrible ! I bought a new iPhone and tried for 12 hours to pair it to my new phone. No help or assistance unless you call during work hours. It still takes hours. This app does not help treat heart rhythm problems; it causes them. So the patient gets left with a monitor in their chest with the worst technology on the web.

Crashing!. The latest update to iPhone is crashing the app on opening. So, now I assume the monitor is useless! The app staff needs to be terminated for failing to alpha & beta test before release.

Won’t stay connected. Since day 1 I have had trouble with loop recorder and app staying connected to my iPhone 7+ Either says won’t connect, problem with connection or now it won’t connect to device. What good is technical support if you have to stay on hold more than 20 minutes??? The first technician I spoke with said he would stay in touch until the app and device were finally working together. He called maybe 2 days later then nothing. I just had an Ablation and really need this device to do its job🤬🤬🤬🤬 it’s only my life that’s gonna be affected if something goes wrong!!! I’m writing this while I have been on hold trying to get technical support. Dang neither my phone company Or Directtv take this long to answer🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Maintenance every morning. Everyday I wake up to a “connection problem”. Go to app to resolve and a 15 minute timer starts counting down. App must stay open for countdown to continue. After the 15 minutes counts down another 15 minute countdown begins. I close that one because I can’t do anything else on my phone or the countdown stops until I open app again. This app requires a lot of attention to appear to work properly.

Disconnects Every Day. Why can’t they come out with an update to fix this very important app. Almost every morning I have to reconnect the app to my phone. We all know it takes 3 minutes as you sit and watch it connect. My phone is right next to me every night so no reason it should disconnect. What good is the app, if you actually are having symptoms and go to record and you have to wait 3 minutes for it to reconnect. By then your symptoms can be gone. Please consider a different company before having their loop recorder implanted.

Will not open. Stop saying you need more information it will not open. Your people appear very shallow

Worst app I’ve ever used. Firstly this app never stays connected and when I’m having events and trying to record it takes so long that until it connects and records the event is long over and nothing worth while has been recorded. It constantly disconnects and doesn’t send data either. Now the app won’t open at all!?! I’ve tried everything and no results. I’ve been having a horrible week with back to back events that can’t be monitored. This is a serious issue! Fix this immediately please!

Syncing problems. The Bluetooth is only an issue with this device. I only have to make sure the app is syncing with the device, which is mostly likely not connected. I have to wait 5-10 minute to synced my phone up the device. Which is a waste of time. I recommend another device.

Update destroyed my app. I updated my app and ever since then it will not even open!

Loop Recorder App. Okay. I’m not happy either. There is something terribly wrong with the App or the Recorder. I’ve read the complaints and I have experienced the problems first hand. But nobody, NOBODY has threatened the manufacture to remove the item. I’m still doing some research but it sounds to me there is a CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT!!!!! After some time in using this implant and talking to the doctors I find that education is continual and the hat after you experience some of the problems and then talk to your doctors the picture becomes much clearer. I am much happier with the implant now that I know how it works. The only real issue now is that some nights at 2 am it disconnects and than at 8 am I have to resync to the phone/app. Just a minor headache and that I still don’t have a warm feeling about how I will get contacted if I have an issue.

Generic responses; No help in sight. Sad to see such an important and costly device rate so poorly and people listing their concerns with only a generic response that has empty hope for help. Seems like there is nothing more or new or even better to say-everyone has clearly spelled out details of their concerns with no real help from the company. Shame! My feelings about this device are the same and I’m sure if I get a response it will be the same generic one...😡

Bad update. Not working now since the update

June 9th update just crashes. It won’t open, just closed and crashes whenever you try to open.

Where is the update. I can’t even open the app, it is demanding an update that doesn’t exist. You have no releases or notations of an update and nothing is being prompted. For something that deals with monitoring something as important as a heart, you would think your app would work better. The ratings are awful.

Bakkenmania. Got the heart monitor installed. Prior to installation I asked my cardiologist if there was a monthly fee for monitoring. He said no. Each month when the app automatically forwards a month of monitoring to my cardiologist I am charged $175. Insurance refuses to pay it due it being a service already paid for in the initial cost. So I had to turn off the blue tooth connection to avoid the monitoring fee. I basically have a worthless $22k piece of plastic in my chest. Defeated the purpose of the monitor. I have no doubt it’s marketed as an easy money maker for a cardiologist.

Doesn’t record. 1week in and way not impressed. This only records occasionally. I have attempted to record events a half dozen times... 1 success. I noticed the canned response from the manufacturer it is as follows...

Won’t stay connected. I wake up each morning and check the Confirm Rx screen. It tells me it had problems connecting to my St. Jude cardiac monitor. It tells me to try to reconnect by taping on screen. It goes through a 3-4 minute count down and always reconnects. This happen each morning and has been reported to Abbot LBs current owner of this technology. I have also had a screen message to start over completely and initiates a ,Setup new device” screen. I would discuss this with your cardiologist before doing the implant procedure.

Does not connect. I’ve had this since February it does not connect every night even if I am connected to WiFi it does not connect and and if I try recording something I feel it has not taken it replies unable to record and no product support after 5 pm on Friday and you call this a heart monito. How can I get this crap removed from my chest it’s nothing but junk

Can’t even open the app now. So I wasn’t too fond of this app before, but now I downright hate it. Before it would glitch and close all the time. Now it won’t even open. I been having some serious events and I can’t log it anymore. Please fix this ASAP because this is pretty serious for this app to be glitching and not opening

App is crap. The monitor constantly disconnects daily I have to manually restart it. It even disconnects after I restart it. It’s a real pain. The developer response is always the same to complaints. It looks like they have undated the app but it still doesn’t work without disconnecting constantly. I don’t know if it’s the app or the monitor but it just not work consistently To the developers and please don’t leave your usual comments, I’ve told you everything that’s wrong.

MyMerlin. Hasn’t worked for two weeks can’t get out and try to refresh Jim T. I’m almost 80 this is crazy I just got rid of my flip cell

Crash. This app has crashed for months and I keep trying and updating the app plz fix this…

Worst Medical App In History. Crashes all the time. Have to do things manually and pray it doesn’t crash again. I am done. Just reinstalled the app for the last time. I wouldn’t even give them one star but that was the lowest option. The lab is making monthly money on this and probably a cardiologist not I’m my cardiologist’s office. One more glitch and I will demand they pull the loop.

Not worth the time spent trying to fix it. I previously had a Samsung phone. Every time I had a power blip or failure, everything on the phone switched from WiFi to mobile, except for this. So I would always have to remember to go in and reconnect or resynch. I just got an iphone11 and now it NEVER connects to send reports. Every morning I have to manually do it. I have spent time with Confirm Rx tech support, Verizon and Apple support with no answer. My advice to anyone asking me about this would be do not spend all the money to have an inferior product that is vital to your health.

bad overall. App disconnects itself and makes me redo setup, always “has trouble connecting”, and is now informing me that an app update is required, despite there being no app update available. I wish I knew what the app was before I had the device implanted, or I would have not gotten it at all. It’s also a bit suspicious that they still call it St. Jude when it’s owned by Abbott now.

Unable To Even Connect To Set Up. The app dropped its connection to my loop recorder, for some reason, and is asking me to set it up, again. I can’t do this, however, as I get an “Unable To Complete Setup” right after setup begins. This has been going on for hours, in spite of the fact that I have a good connection to a network.

One Star (at most). It causes more than a modicum of anxiety that the device installed in my chest is branded by the same outfit that trades as MyMerlin, a fully non-functional app. A one-star rating seems like excessive praise!

Unable to Open App. This app is useless to me if it won’t open and send my data to my dr! They continue to call me and this app hasn’t worked since update!

Much better since iOS update to V 14. This app use to report almost everyday that it failed to send or connect to the monitor. Hasn’t happened in several months. Would be nice if this integrated with Apple Health, since it is a health device.

Garbage. Fifteen thousand dollar surgical procedure to insert monitor for a garbage app that won’t connect over and over and over again! Please listen to the reviews of this app before going though the procedure! You would think the kinks would be worked out BEFORE this garbage went live! I sense a huge class action law suit on the way!

App will not open after update. My app will not open either after the update. I don’t know what to do, and neither does my Dr’s office.

Not working. Ever since the update my app fails to open. It crashes

What a disappointment. Had this device implanted almost a year ago, at my suggestion, due to Afib and arrhythmia caused by a rare disease I have. (Amyloidosis). Always kept iPhone on nightstand next to me, yet 95% of the time it never connects and I then have to try manually 1 or more times. What is even worse, is that the battery is supposed to last around 3 years and mine is almost exhausted after just one year. The cost of the device AND IMPLANTING PROCEDURE was over $40,000. !! Plus the software misinterprets ‘extra beats’ as Afib and medical staff have to review and recategorize all of it AND its misinterpretation then makes summary reports inaccurate also. Outrageously bad performance for an incredibly expensive device and program!

Wish it was better. Definitely not impressed. For a heart health related device you’d think it would feel more reliable. I too have failed connections nearly every morning. Also fails for monthly transmissions. Doesn’t seem like something that’s causes anxiety is a good plan. Unfortunately you don’t normally have time to research these before implantation. Update: sent info per developers response, nothing yet..... Still waiting for developer to contact me.. investigating having device removed. With the high price of monthly monitoring and poor communication with the device and from the developer I think it’s not worth it. Update: weeks later, nothing from developer or device company. Must be an automated response. Removal of device scheduled. For what this thing costs and the monthly monitoring fees it should be better. I’ll let my cardiologist and insurance company know how unreliable and unresponsive this outfit is.

Junk. App won’t open at all after first two days after implant. First two days showed no information recorded… junk

Update issues anyone?. Stopped working after updating app

App just stop. Don’t know what good this is doing. The app states that it’s not connected to the internet but my phone is connected. I tried to record symptoms and send the data but it is not reading my internet. I tried to re install the app now it won’t connect and I have no number to call. I have to wait until in the morning to call my cardiologist. Don’t know what to do
