TV Cast for Sony Smart TV App Reviews

Promising. Looked and seemed like a promising app to cast. Even with the premium purchase every video takes forever to load or buffer on your Sony smart tv. Another donation to another non working app...fix this please.

Sony does it (horribly) again. The worst consumer choice I’ve ever made bar none was buying a Sony (not-so) Smart TV and this flaky app just adds insult to injury. The connection flickers on then off again so that you never get to load the video in time to make the connection and the app home screeen just tries to sell you more of what are probably equally worthless apps. Stay away from Sony products at all costs is the message here.

Doesn’t work.. Doesn’t mirror anything. App says it’s connected. I also purchased the suggested Mirror Screen plus app for 2.99. If I could go zero I would.

This is crap. Its all about the money $$$. You pay decent funds for s smart TV and then need to pay extra to watch your own stuff on it. It only allows last 3 videos free access. Please rethink this link.

More than scammy. I rarely ever write bad reviews. Most of my reviews are bc I like the product or at least the idea, even if a product is not refined, yet. However, I do not like to be scammed. I do not like dishonesty. The sole purpose of this app is that you as the gullible customer press the “Buy” button. This app has not trial or freemium option. Once you open it for the first time you immediately get presented with an offer that you fell you cannot miss out: all the options for a third of the price of about $20. In this moment, you do not even know what these options are. I clicked buy, $7 bucks, bc who does not want to safe 60%. Once you look at the in-app options, they are all nano-features that normally would be required to make the app work for its intended purpose of mirroring your screen. This is not the question of a Basic vs Pro version. You need ALL of these in-app purchases to make the app useful. Ok fine, I got tricked into a purchase without actually trying it out. But then at least the app works, right? Wrong! Even after buying the bundle you are welcomed with a cluttered user interface that looks like a middle schooler on a summer camp threw it together that is nothing but intuitive - just to be redirected to more apps to purchase just to make it work. The whole point of this app is to mirror something from your device to a TV, in this case a Sony. A very simple product definition. There is no need for micro in-app purchases - either you can mirror your screen, or you cannot. Period! No user wants a products that only sometimes works under undefined conditions. And even in this one simple function the app fails. This app exists in a gazillion confusing (on purpose I allege) versions, this particular one is advertised for Sony, but it does not even function here. Perhaps Sony uses more than one format (in my case Miracast), perhaps the app does not work at all. In any case, it nowhere tells you in the app description that it only works for SOME Sony TV and under WHICH conditions. Again, it misleads the user into buying in the assumption that the app works on ALL Sony TV. Wouldn’t you assume the same if you bought something specially advertised for “Sony”? I am a technologist, my background is productizing technology ideas and deliver solutions. I live and breath software (and hardware). I am not just a disgruntled customer who cannot figure out how a complex app works, but I seriously feel scammed. This is messed up, and even worse - you cannot get a refund.

Does not work with Hisense. No directions no help. Nothing but a screen with a tv icon in the middle. Absolutely zero connection with Hisense.

Waste of money!!!!!. I bought this so I could watch Disney plus from my phone to my tv. It would not let me watch anything but the personal videos from my phone Waste of money!!!

Never buying from Sony again.. A pathetic, desperate and embarrassingly obvious money-grab. This app is virtually useless without paying for add-ons for features that could/should easily be free. On the rare occasion that you end up able to broadcast anything from this one, you have to watch ads before your video. Ads. On an app that comes along with a $500 purchase you made on your Sony “Smart” TV. What a joke. Downloading and attempting to use this app will only frustrate you and ruin your mood for the day. It’s not worth it.

Not good in fact it’s terrible. No formatting spent hours trying to get different formats of video and web content no dice. Cannot connect to paid subscriptions through apps to mirror as well.. not that I’ve been able to achieve.

Junk. When it works you have to watch ads before your video will cast. But that’s when you’re lucky enough that it works.

Scam. I was able to connect it but the video doesn’t even work! It gets you to watch ads for it not to work!

Terrible. Terrible still not working. Nothing but pop ups and then just circle time waiting.

Is it 1996?. Loses connection to TV at random, and you have to go through this circular mess to try to get your link to play again, unless you pay for “premium” I guess.

Do not buy Sony!!!. Absolute worst experience I have ever had with a smart TV. I have purchased two Insignias that have given me zero problem. I wouldn’t wish the experience I just had with this Sony TV on my worst enemy.

the best app. Seriously thank you for being simple and easy to use! And streaming on my tv without cords or Apple TV. If you’re reading this. Use it. Free and great quality of videos.

Connection Error. My casting was having connection errors, so I decided to pay for the premium version. Still has connection errors when trying to cast. Don’t waste your time or money on this. Get a new tv if this app is required to cast on your tv.

Horrible money grab attempt. Just after start, the app showed me some kind of a purchase menu, and immediately complained about external ad blocker I’m using. Really? No TV connection, not a chance to see if your app really worth something? Well, one star is all you get this way.

Honestly worth evey penny spent. Ive been using this app for a while and let me say its amazing and for a reasonable price 4.99 doesnt get any better than that. No glitches , delays or ads.

Does not work properly. Downloaded the free app, then downloaded a mirroring app for 3.99 and it does not work properly at all! Waste of time and money!

What are you charging for a service that doesn't work. This app is a waste, since Sony no longer allows this app to work with their tv’s they shouldn't be charging to get rid of adds if the app doesn't even work!!!

You can only cast content within their app. Useless just like this Sony TV. Samsung would NEVER. I have an app on my phone I want to watch on this “smart” TV. Nothing seems to work. I’m annoyed. The one time I brought a different brand and it’s been buyers remorse since. Don’t DL this app.

Confusing. This is not an easy process. Doesn’t play without glitches. Some videos don’t load. They ask you to upgrade but don’t explain what the upgrade is.

Terrible App. This app is terrible! It doesn’t ever do anything and leads you to believe if you add addition items (that you have to keep buying) it will stream. Doesn’t ever stream anything!

Very Limited. What a waste of time it was downloading this! You have to pay to stream your own personal videos on your phone. You have to use the built in browser. I mainly just wanted to stream from Disney+, but I can’t do that either.

Decent app. For the technologically impaired this app is a little confusing but in the end I got it.

Kinda good. Has issues with loading so then you have to uninstall app a few time but when it does work it does a pretty good job but it doesn’t work on every site

Worthless app!. Can’t find a way to cast programming from my phone to my Sony Smart TV as desired. No useful tutorials on point. Tried to get a refund within minutes of my purchase but was told no refund was available. A total waste of $6.99.

Alright but... This app is very useful for when I want to watch stuff online and put it on the big screen but sometimes it lags terribly. Like every 5 seconds. I try disconnecting everything but my tablet so the tv can get good signal but sometimes it keeps lagging. I hope they can fix this bug soon. Or maybe a way to be able to change the server or something.

Pretty Good Casting. Pluses: Hi def source on iPhone is hi def on the tv. Also using a Sony blu ray player works for casting to a non smart & non Sony tv. Minuses: Because of Sony’s complete lack of support for useful apps on players like the BDP-S6700 the home screen’s Opera TV app very slowly launches the truly horrible “vewd” app which won’t remain on your home screen for next time. This app is found in vewd. Most player apps are placed in vewd and they’re truly crummy apps. The box the player comes in uses pictures of apps as a con job. Thanks a lot Sony, as usual. This app often hangs up and won’t cast a program, just a prior commercial repeatedly. Eventually you get the show. And it won’t allow subtitles to pass thru. When it works it’s great.

Adds ruin app. You pay hundreds if not thousands for a top line Sony tv, then have to spend more money to do something that can be accomplished with a simple adapter.

I’m too old for this. Tried to get my Sony TV to get streaming from PBS, TV instructions said download this. Didn’t know I’d have to pay, but OK. Spent an hour trying to figure it out, then found I’d have to pay for another app to do that. I give up. I’m sure your English is superb, but how much would it cost you to hire a native English speaker to narrate, for idiots like me who have trouble with a German accent. Sorry.

No sound. I use this app when I had a iPhone 10 now I have the 11 and I can’t hear anything…. Good app though

Zero stars. What a piece of trash. I downloaded this to cast at an Airbnb, so you can bet I’m not paying for premium. At the free tier you can’t cast from apps and the built-in player pushes ads every couple of minutes, nags constantly. I can’t believe Sony would get behind this.

Worst casting app ever.. Doesn’t work at all. Can’t cast more than 3 most recent videos from your camera roll! Have to buy a bunch of upgrades and add one for this to work for anything

Can only view adds. When I try to play a video, the app announced that it will play an advertisement. When that ends, the video I selected never plays. Only the ads and then nothing!!!!

App to sell feature Sony should have offered. Most of this “app” serves as a platform to sell other non-Sony apps. Not what I expected from Sony.

Overall pretty good. I liked this app because it made things a little easier to manage but I ran into some trouble trying to play a video. Does the app only work on certain websites? If so it would have been pretty useful to know before purchasing the premium edition.

So difficult to figure out. 3 of us tried to get this to work and failed. And I really, really dislike the forces upgrade$, which I bought and still did not work. Waste of $$

Disgusting ransoming. Why are you trying to collect fees each time I try to cast from my iPad? This is my equipment and my cable service. Who let you hold my service for ransom?

Doesn’t work. Took so much time to set up, yet the only videos it could mirror were YouTube videos, which were the only ones I could mirror before downloading this useless app. I would advise not to bother trying.

Great app. Awesome app love to watch my favourite twitch streamers live, a little annoying to watch an ad every time you want to cast but it’s the price you pay for this great service!
