Cool concept, poor execution. This game has great potential but unfriendly controls and clashing visuals make this game unenjoyable after the first few levels.

Don't play at night!. Wow... I never thought I could be so scared of red lines... This game is amazing! The object of the game is to create echoes (represented by white lines) that allow you to "see" the room. Just like a bat, your foot print character is blind and using sonar... Now for the scary. Level 3 is the first to have red lines (danger) in it. Just avoid those and you'll be fine. Level 4, however, has evil moving red groups of lines that follow and chase you. The visual gets you focused... But then the sounds kick in. It sounds like a hunter from Left for Dead. Creepy, scary, and no fun to hear in the dark while curled up in bed. Five stars guys! Better than aa with just as simple and fun gameplay:)

Woah.... Ok, this is a horror game, but it’s disappointingly not that scary, but who cares? This game is absolutely amazing. It uses a great mechanic, has great sound, and is very, VERY hard at times. Really, the only thing that’s scary is the enemies. They sometimes come out of nowhere and and that causes you to panic and accidentally run right into them. Also, the death sound effect. Holy crap, the death sound effect. It starts with a scream, then you hear bones cracking, blood spattering, and chunks of flesh falling to the ground. It’s delightful. Sarcasm intended.

I have a few things to say. First of all, I want to begin this by making it clear that I LOVED this game. It is a very interesting concept for a game, ESPECIALLY a horror game. Now, with that said, for the first...3/5 of the game, it was a great horror game, with just enough of a vague story to allow the player to draw his/her own conclusions. But after said point, it became more of a puzzle game. The monsters disappeared, and were replaced by annoying moving walls. It lost both the story and the horror feel. However, it does have many interesting components, such as throwing rocks and clapping to control the sound waves. The realism of the gameplay is also very interesting...how in such a dark place, all you have is the help of sound. Nothing is certain in this game. And I LOVE it. I totally recommend this to anyone, but it only gets four stars because it disappointed me with the puzzle genre part. If this game starts out as a horror and advertises as a horror, then keep it a horror all the way through. You don't see Amnesia: The Dark Descent turning into Candy Crush halfway through, do you? This is a beautiful game, nevertheless.

Clever Maze. Great visuals and sounds, cool concept for a game I haven’t seen before

Amazing concept that tires quickly. Let me start off by saying the thought behind this is perfect. The sounds, the aesthetic, everything is flawless. Except the level construction. After about ten levels the game starts to drag because it's the same stuff over and over again, and when something does change, it's a lame gimmick like "oh, the level is called inversion, so blue is death and red means water." Ok, so once it fools the player the first time, its a super easy level. Then there are levels that drag on because they're so long with no real threat or anything, you just have to wonder around forever. The concept is amazing, but the level design is executed poorly and doesn't stay fresh about about 10 or so levels.

moody, unsettling, immersive. Played this way back in 2015. just searched for it again through my purchases because i have a big ole hankering for it, but didn’t remember the name. so much fun- just the right amount of creep factor. sound design is immaculate. i can still remember my kid imagination running wild as i would be making my own plot up along the way.

Good puzzle game .... ,but the audio is not scary. I like the echo location aspect of a puzzle game, and yet it rates 1/10 on my scary scale. FNAF 3 (you knew you'd see the comparison) rates 2.5/10. I find if you make fun of games like "OH NO A MONSTER IS ATTACKING rock... bye bye" and in game stated above "balloon boy hello", "me hi ... AHHHHHHHHH whatever" do use this for the people who thought this is scary. Also I find the light world can be dark because of invert color option in accessibility settings. But the thing is the game is nice and should be appreciated for the original concept. (Also reviews like this normaly have a lot of criticism so you need to make your own opinion by playing the game)

This is actually terrifying! A work of art, even if there's nothing to see!. There's a lot of stupid, mediocre "horror" games out these days that frankly, they insult the very genre they're supposedly apart of. (Yeah, I'm talking to you Five Nights at Freddy's) Admittedly, the first few levels were simple and boring, but most games follow that same pattern so it was to be expected. However, the first time there were actual obstacles to avoid, the game became stimulating and exciting! (I say "obstacles"...Perhaps man-eating flies and invisible monsters is more precise) I know my stomach plummeted and I imagine I almost jumped out of my seat the first time I got killed. And still, a few select levels still manage to surprise me even though I know what's coming! What I look for in a horror game is fear factor (NOT gore), and this one delivers. If you're not playing, you're missing out! RAC7 will go far if they continue like this.

Unsolvable Glitch Apple TV. Unsolvable floor due to poor adaptation to Apple TV- you can’t throw rocks to distract the monster like on other platforms. When I knew I had solved it, but couldn’t do what was necessary, I checked a variety of video walkthroughs which verified the issue was Apple TV. I’ve written weeks ago to the company, and they’ve ignored my support request. Generally, before that glitch halted all progress, it was way too easy and a bore. Don’t waste your money.

Amazing. I found this game to be a bit odd at first. Then was introduced with the enemy’s and traps and was intrigued by the game play then so on so forth with all the puzzle levels. This is my first game review and really am still enjoying to play now. Keep up the good work!!

FIX THE ROCK MECHANIC!. I really hate to be that person that nags about some little flaw, but I just have to. Don’t get me wrong, this game is just amazing. You just don’t get much more creative than this. But seriously, fix the dad gum rock mechanic! It was just that one thing that kept me from declaring this heaven-caliber(kind of ironic, I know) material. It’s quite unresponsive, it just feels weird to have to draw a line off to the side, and don’t even talk to me about trying to throw one while in the water while not budging enough to blow your cover. What I propose is that you put a button in the corner, so that you can tap the button, then just tap in the direction that you want to throw the rock. That’s what I would do, anyway.

Just Buy It. I remember when this game was free a while back I had it on another phone and I just couldn’t remember the name for some reason but I’m so happy I found it again although I had to pay for it this time

Wish I could get a refund. It’s a good thing Apple is switching to a subscription service. They recommend games like this and it’s obvious in 30s it was a horrible mistake, but your money is completely wasted. They don’t even show you what the “gameplay” is like. At first I thought the “game” was buggy, and only later did it hit me it was just poorly designed.

One of the scariest games out there. The sound effects alone will make the hair raise on the back of your neck. Just wish it had more levels. Otherwise it is just fantastic A+++

Terrifyingly Addictive. I am a huge scaredy cat and can’t watch scary movies or anything because I end up crying, and this game is definitely really creepy and scary. But it is such a thrill playing this game. I was frightened but could not stop playing this game. I love that it makes you think, strategize, and keeps you on your toes. I have finished this game and still replay and replay! I love this!

Awesome yet a bit scary. As a developer myself my first thought when I saw this game featured was, “Those echo effects are soooo cool!” And after buying it I gotta say this is very well made. I never been a fan of scary movies nor especially games, but I love puzzles (Monument Valley is a fav) and avoiding red stuff you can’t see didn’t seem that scary. I have bought it now, love the price btw, and surprised myself that that aspect is actually a bit scary. I’m good and think this game is awesome! But if you really don’t like horror (I wasn’t exactly frightened just nervous- I’m very competitive) even if it doesn’t seem all that creepy— beware.

Controls. The controls need work for one side to throw a rock the other to walk sometimes you walk when you try to throw a rock and it get you killed it shouldn’t be walk on all sides it makes it annoying to throw a rock

Actually scary 😨. I've never had a mobile game that makes me jump like this one

Play this Game. You have been sent to a room. You cannot see, but you notice your hearing is extremely well. Perhaps you can see with your ears? CLAP! The room lights up around you, but only for a split-second. You cannot clap all the time, but you can see that walking creates sound. Step. Illumination. Step. You can provide small light by walking. Not ideal, but it will do. You open the door, and everything lights up. Hoping to advance, you walk forward into the next room. There is something else here. Something...evil. Trying to hunt you. Your sound attracts the deadly and the harmful. You run from the first one, you are faster than it is. But after a few rooms of running, you come across something huge. You notice that someone else, another human is with you in these caves. But you make your way down a hallway, and the big thing notices you. It comes towards you, and the last thing you hear is the grotesque sound of your screaming, before it's all over. And thus is the rule of Dark Echo.

A Horror Game That Leaves You Thinking. Dark Echo is unlike any horror game I have ever witnessed. It isn't concluded by logic, it's formed by imagination and impulse. (Spoilers ahead in what I say next). When you enter that final door, everything flashes white. You hear birds chirping around you. Your character slows to a halt, and then the game ends. It leaves you shaking down to the bone and in tears. 'What happened?' You may wonder. It's up to you to decide that. In my mind, I pictured the guy escaping. He slows down to a halt until suddenly collapsing down onto his knees, sobbing his heart out. Where was he? Who was he...? This was my theory until I reopened the app to see it continued in white and black now. In my head and possibly in his, I see the sounds of birds chirping as an illusion. Just before he gets slain by that nearby red monster, realization hits him in the face that it's just starting all over again. No matter what the poor guy does, he's always stuck in this never ending madness. In conclusion, I just want to say thank you. Thank you for creating such a brilliant and innovative game. I have a small complaint though. As of right now, the game will not stop CRASHING. I cannot even open the app. I really do not want to delete the app because I was 1 level away from completing the Light realm. At first it crashed when I decided to go replay the first two episodes of the dark realm, and now it refuses to let me open the game. I would really really appreciate if you tried to fix this for me. Maybe other people are having the same problem? I just want to finish the game.. --AFTER SEVERAL WEEKS-- The game continues to forcefully crash. I don't know why. The most horrific part is that I was on the last level and can't seem to even open it at all. It's really bad. I hope you somehow manage to fix this. --AFTER SEVERAL MONTHS-- Got so hopeful that the game would work again due to recent updates, but it proceeded to crash. I’m not very obliged to the idea of deleting the app and reinstalling since I was one level away from completing the Light realm as you know. I constantly tap on the game just to see it would magically work, but it does not. Very disappointing. I really hope you get around to fixing this problem. Until then, I’ll keep on tapping the app each day in hopes that it’ll work. My condolences if I’m bothering you too much, I’m sure you’re very busy. I just hope you’ll get around to solving this problem now that you’re back to trying to tweak the game.

OH MY!!. Seeing the footsteps of something chasing you is the worst. And hearing the sounds. All and all, a truly scary experience. Especially alone and in the dark!

Play this in the dead of night.. At first I thought this was going to be lame. But once get up past level 20. The real fun starts. Now this game calls for headphones. But if you have a hifi sound system you can stream it over that and you won't be disappointed. Also this is best played on the iPad or iPhone6+ but it's hard to put this game down. If you really want to test yourself and your brain. Play this at night some where with no lights and with friends. Or by yourself. Trust me, your eyes will fixate on the screen and you will lose yourself in the game. You'll feel like it's just you in the many places you'll be in each level. Enjoy.

Not what I expected (in a good way). Holy heck, when I first saw this game on Chills I was like: “Lol this looks so boring, hahahaha” but when I actually played it I was like: “woah this game is so fun.”

Awesome Game! 10/10 would recommend!. So I am usually not the type to play horror games because they scare the crap out me.. I usually watch game plays, but Dark Echo is so amazingly made that even a scaredy act like me like it! So there I was, bored and browsing for good games when I saw that this was the App of The Week. I usually just get the app of the week because they are free. So I bought it and saw that it was a horror game. I was immediately like NOPE.. But then when I tried it, it was just so unique and so.. Suspenseful that I instantly loved it! I went to chapter 12 in one sitting. The game starts off easy, and gets difficult as it goes. In a nutshell, what you have to do is use your sense of sound and get out a dark room. There are red lines and yellow and white lines (so far) the red lines are bad, the yellow lines are like switches or leavers or something and the white lines are the sound you made. There is also this ball shaped red thing that follows you if it 'hears you'. This game is just so fabulously made and just so so amazing that I even wrote this loooong review for it xD ~Nikki 💕

Genuinely scary at times. I didn’t have super high expectations for this app, but it’ll genuinely make you panic and jump sometimes. The devs really know how to play with atmosphere and humans’ inherent fear of the dark and unknown. Play with headphones on in a dark room for maximum immersion.

If you love horror movie. This is the first time for me to write a review for a game. I played a lot of game. And some of them are actually very good, the room 1,2,3 for example. But this one is really make me excited. I didn't get what is it at the first, after reading some of the reviews, I decided to give it a try. First, I have to say I love watching horror movies. However, movies sometimes can be tedious. You can not feel you are actually in the scene. But this game somehow is quite different. After you plugged in your headphones, you are the character. You can feel the fear. You can feel something is chasing after you. But you can't see. Unknown, that's what make you scared. Download it, if you love horror movies, and play it at night. Good luck.

Suggestions for new features.. Ok, I love this game, but it’s sometimes glitchy and always annoying. I’m just salty because it’s hard, but seriously one time I threw a rock and lead all of the monsters into one corner, and when I lead all of the back, one of them teleported or something. There was still one there when they clearly all left. (I counted) It’s a great concept, but maybe a level maker would be cool. I understand if you can’t implement my ideas, but I just think it would make the game a little bit more interesting. I’m stuck on level XXXIII and it’s glitchy as heck. If it’s not the glitches, I’m just dumb but I seriously don’t know how to beat it. I looked up a walkthrough and still couldn’t beat it, so I might delete it. But anyway, it’s a good game that needs more features.

The good, The bad, and The ugly. Good: -very frightful when you first enter the game in the dark -uses a stealth mechanic that feels unique to other IOS stealth games. (Throwing rocks, walking slowly, and creating distractions.) -Sound is amazing -enemies are shockingly scary when you run into them. Bad: -The rock is hard to throw in tight situations when trying to escape enemies "sight" -story needs some backstory. (Ex: a good backstory would be how you even GOT there or what is chasing you. Some people might argue that a mysterious backstory makes the game scarier though (Fear of the Unknown)). Ugly: Spoilers: -After you beat level 40 you go into what I like to call: NG+.... In this mode there are a couple changes. Instead of you being in a dark room, you are in a pure white room and you can only see with darkness. Also the enemies are a lot faster and may provide more stress. The only problem with this idea is that all the levels are the same :/. Every level but just a re skin to white. This has been an Unfairest review. Good day to you all. P.s. This game is still good in my personal opinion and you should try it out while it's free.

A Horror Game for Those Who Both Love and Hate the Genrere. So, let me just say that when I found this as app of the week, I was expecting a stinker. What I got was an innovative blend of horror and strategy. Never before in my life have I played a game so simple and yet so scary. I generally tend to despise horror games, but for this game I have a lot of respect. The graphics and sound are amazing, as is the gameplay. Basically, you are trapped inside of a room and must find the way out using the sound waves from your footsteps and what those waves bounce off of. As the levels advance, you face death and, even worse, are hunted. In conclusion, I would like to state that this is probably the best mix of horror and strategy I've ever seen, and I am completely memorized by the features and gameplay. Dark Echo is definitely not a stinker! ;)

Needs improvement. When I played this game the mechanics intrigued me, but when I got to level 6 it started to bore me. If you added some story, if the player new why they were there, if they were working towards something it would work. However without this it is a repetitive waste of money and time. But it definitely has potential.

Real Horror Game. I would call this game horror. It has hardly any graphics, but still you feel that incredible intensity when you're playing it. That's special. There are not many games like that. The developer did an AMAZING job. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Use Your Imagination. Even though the look of the game is really simple, the atmospheric sounds is what makes this game genuinely immersive. It's that feeling of dread and fear when you hear weird noises in the distance that really sets the overall creepiness in the game.

Ok. Seems overrated though.. It's ok but can't see what all the fuss is about and I'm not hanging to play it again. It is interesting premise - walking in dark, can't see anything, going off found to avoid monsters, death and find exit. But that's it. You just walk run and exit to new level. Some levels get a but more labyrinthine but that's it. I downloaded this as it was iTunes recommended and had loads of 5 star reviews but I find it underwhelming.

Congratulations. Dark echo is a great game and (to my knowledge) has very original gameplay mechanics. It puts you in an atmospheric world with deep sound design, with nothing to guide you but your footsteps. Really well done.

Good 4/5. It's a really good time waster but I don't see how this is a horror game, I've played it for a while but it doesn't seem all that scary, if you want to make it scarier maybe add some monster of some sort of like a jumpscare in certain levels. Who say jump scare is a must have in a horror game?. I've played this game for a while now, and I think as a game it is quite a experience. It explores one's imagination and utilising the user experience and imagination as a what I can only say "phycological horror". This is definitely a smart concept and a well made game.

Great game. This is an awesome game because it makes your imagination work against you. Wait what's that moving, oh it's just flies. What's that sound oh it's water. Is there a monster around that corner etc. basically the only reason that this is scary is because you imagine what it looks like in your mind when really all you are seeing is lines. Beautifly simplistic. A super easy to understand yet complicated game. Gets my thunking about my next action every second of play. Only thing I could ask for is more gestures that i could use maybe something like a jump feature could be used in many ways! In all though great game to play!

Dark Echo. I was really hoping for an epic creepy game based on others reviews, but my app cuts out the noise every two or so seconds for about a second, then the sound comes on. I'm really disappointed, because I'm sure this is a faulty app. If I could, and now I really want to, I would take my money back and by another app for the same price.

Fantastic experience. The premise itself is fantastic. You're blind, moving through a series of hidden caverns. The game progresses beautifully, introducing new enemies. The action is fast-paced, requiring you to immediately divert enemies with a rock or dodge around chasing red creatures. Simply brilliant.

Addicted to fear. I am utterly addicted to this game even though I'm sure it will give me a nightmare or two; and I'm positive it will give my friends them as they could only play until level 3 without being too afraid even though they loved it. Not overly difficult in later levels so that you want to quit playing like some games, as I'm on level 33 (started last night) and haven't had to redo a level more than thrice. Only problem was sometimes I'd swipe to throw a rock and it would move me forward and get me killed instead. Hit a home run on this one.

Stale and boring.. I have no clue why this game is getting so much love. It's a really mediocre game. It's not scary, (I don't know how any of these people think it is scary) it's boring, and it's repetitive. I'm glad I got this free, because charging any amount of money for this game would be a ripoff.

Scary. WOW that is scary in a way

To short.. Beat the game far to fast, died once the whole time. Just overall didn't seem worth the money at all. Reviews made it look good but it was just to blah.

Tedious and boring. I have to believe that most of the positive reviews for this game must be fake. The only thing more lame than walking around in the dark is having to tip toe around some of the levels at half speed. This game might have been fun 20 years ago as a free game but just because it's different doesn't make it fun!

Not really terrifying... Definitely a unique game, but I don't really understand the horror aspect of it. Maybe I was expecting more, but I got bored after awhile and never really got creeped out by the red lines. Original idea that didn't really cut it IMO.

Interesting while maintain the urge to go ahead. I like this app (maybe besides the Chinese Part, though. Don't use machine translations: they are strange. “Tap to continue” should be translated as 进入游戏, not “播放”. It provides you with the most simple horror without bloodiness. Some of the players do not give a five star rating is probably because they get stuck on some tricky level (37? Just follow the sound of your steps). Challenging but not that difficult. Really like it. Desire a five star.

Amazing Game.. I had fairly low expectations for this game coming from a developer with a small repertoire of releases. They really have an amazing concept with this game. As many other reviews say, the levels start out easy and allow you to get a feel for the game. But once you start really getting into it, it becomes an amazing horror game. Playing with headphones and the lights out makes the experience you have in this game even more incredible. It is a must have for all gamers.

Good concept, but..... 2 things. 1: I played this game for an hour, and in that time not once was I tense or scared. I do not know what is chasing me, usually I would come with an imaginative monster, but I just saw it as a computer program tasked with following the last place you made noise. Not scary 2: You are given no reason to care. With no backstory, no narration, no knowledge of where you are or why you're here, why should I care? I don't even know who I'm controlling! There is one word at the start of each level. Maybe it gets better as it goes on, I dunno.

AMAZING!. This is an amazing game that requires puzzle solving. Only the puzzle is invisible without sound. The only complaint I have is that the walking command needs to be less sensitive because every third stone I through also makes me take a step, resulting in my death. It can't really throw the stones quickly because of this. But the game never makes me mad about this. It just makes me reconsider my strategy! This is a must get!

Horror at its best. This is what I've been looking for, an interesting horror game. Not only is the gameplay great, but sometimes it can be more strategical than a simple puzzle! You'll have to play it to believe it, if you've been into horror and can't find enough of it over the App Store. Dark Echo may be an amazing stop, so check out the game and play it. Incredibly creative and enthralling. I adored this game in its Ludum Dare incarnation, and now on iOS it's even better. Creative, unusual, elegant, atmospheric, innovative, and just plain fun, this a game everyone should find engrossing. A little scary, yes—and with the new effects like splashy splashy steps and buzzing flies the creepiness is cranked even higher—but still good fun for anyone. I only wish I'd thought of it first. And no, I have not been paid to write this review—I'm just blown away by how clever and fun this game is.

Amazing And Terrifying Game. At first I loved the game a puzzle and horror game combined! Awesome! It even came to the point where I stopped playing for a bit cuz it was so scary (not TOO much though) and I like the reality of it, you being stuck in the darkness with monsters and you using sound to find a way out, But monsters also using the sound you make to hunt you down. It's a cool game would definitely recommend it.

Mathematically SATISFYING!. This game has very simple gameplay accompanied by an amazing and immersive audio environment. Your blind character can detect walls, obstacles can and death by creating white lines from their feet and claps. I love clapping loudly in the middle of circular rooms! The white lines radiate out and reverberate back toward the center in a way that makes the math nerd in me so satisfied. Cool lines and shaped are formed when walking town twisted hallways and a touch of color help highlight the gameplay.

Spookier than I thought.... I seriously didn't think this game would get me. Seemed interesting enough to try, but I figured the simplistic design would make it more of a puzzle than a scary game. Wow, was I wrong. This is the perfect example of why sound design is so important in horror games. The idea is simple, but thanks to the limited visuals and sound design, this game becomes intense if you're playing with headphones on. Unseen traps, unseen enemies...somebody running around in the dark with you...what an awesome concept. Tight controls too. Definitely recommend this one, especially while it's free. Don't play it in the dark, though...

Fun. When I downloaded the game I wasn't sure what to expect... I know there are games that claim to be scary (slenderman etc.) and in the game-plays people go ridonkulous over how scary these games are...but this one... This game definitely creeped me. This game is a reminder of what lurks in the dark. With stunning graphics and simple, yet interesting gameplay, this game is a true five star. I recommend this game to anyone who enjoys simple and non-gory games.

Amazing!!!. I absolutely love horror games but lately they have all been lacking something. Dark Echo is the game I was looking for. But I am stuck on this one part, distraction, that doesn't seem to make sense. I have searched through many walkthroughs but my game level is different from the others. If you could fix this issue that would be great. Other then that I adore this game.

Scary But Fun!!!. I love this game! When I first played it, it was at night, and it sent chills through my body. After that I play only in the day. The sounds effects, however, are so real and I it just horrifying. Now, I'm not a big horror fan (movies or games) but this IS SO GOOD. If you like horror games with a twist, buy this (if it costs money now), if you don't, ask a friend who has it if they'll let you try it.

LOVE this game!! Highly recommend!. This game is so fun and enjoyable to play. You're playing as a blind man lost in some chambers of some sort, and you're forced to rely on your hearing to "see" where you're walking and what's around you. Ridiculously Cool. Every inch of this game is unique and creative. Every new element added to the game as you play makes you feel more clever and more confident as you go. Portrayed in a clever and simple way makes this game one of a kind. My only complaint would be the moving walls, they are annoying difficult to understand and can kill you easily without you having a clue what is going on.

What A Game!. This game doesn't seem like it should be all that scary, what with the "scary" things only being red lines and noises, but that's the trick, your imagination takes over and you can't escape the horrors that fill your head. Unique and Exciting. I love this game so much! It reminds me of how bats use echolocation to see, which is how you, the player, finds escapes. The originality of this game is mind boggling, and deserves to be recognized. I just wish that when you complete the level, it'd show you how the level looked in the light. This would make it so much more frustrating, because it will look easier. Overall, amazing and thrilling game!

Now this is horror... 😖. I applaud the creators of this game. Dark Echo is eerie, creepy, creative, puzzling, quiet, and loud. For the best experience, play this at night, alone, with headphones and lights off. I promise you you'll be on the edge of your seat. Who would've thought a cluster of red lines could be so scary? Now this is true horror. No demonic teddy bear, no zombies, no jump scares. Just the sound echo of your hands and feet... and those of others.

Please Read This.. I know my opinion doesn't really matter, but maybe it can save you from wasting a $1.99. The game is quite repetitive. But, it's incredibly fun for a while. If there were more mechanics and the price was .99 I would easily recommend this as one of the better horror games on the App Store. Well, if you can call it a horror game. This game was never scary, just creepy. I was never even close to being scared, even with headphones in the dark. The horror element was never really there for me. But, if your looking for an intuitive echolocation-based adventure game with sharp, responsive controls, stealth elements and a lot of suspense at times this is for you.

Disappointing. The first few levels of the game were awesome. Truly a wonderful way to start the experience. Unfortunately, there is nothing else positive that can be said about this game. The level design is flat and inspires no creativity whatsoever, the visuals (and audio for that matter) were overly simplified, and the one "cool trick" that they included is the ability to sneak. Really! THAT'S what you put into a game all about audio: the ability to NOT MAKE ANY SOUND. Not to mention that it makes near every single level into a slow blind crawl. If you liked the idea of the game based on the description then I'm sorry but you're only going to get half a dozen levels or so of what you actually wanted to play.

5/7 perfect. Seriously this game is incredible. Great concept, great execution. It's a type of scary that isn't cheap or cliché. I just began playing tonight and already jumped. Lots of suspense!. Honestly, this is a spooky (but great) game. Sure, it doesn't look like much, but the moment you play it, you're drawn in and addicted. I did not expect to die on the Deception level. In fact, I had headphones on and when I heard the character scream in agony, I took my headphones off so fast. It felt real and I was caught in the moment. It was so real, that I started to tear up because it was so creepy. I have never been so afraid of lines. Definitely a 5 star worthy game. And get it now because it used to be $1.99!

Ignore the haters B). All the reviews that are bad haven't seen the potential of this game. It includes about 50 levels In a dark world, and more in a light world. If you are looking for a scary game, yet don't want to be scared for days, this is a definite fit for you. It's after level 10 that the major spooks begin. And I like the "unlock abilities as you go" kind of element to this game. I don't think I've been this scared of red lines since, ever.

Great Game. I have to say that this game is a very great game that brings one of the creepiest things to you're smart phone it brings a whole new world to Horror games and the details and game mechanics are very pleasant and the best part is the sound when it echoes through you're brain overall I would recommend this game for people who want to feel a little bit creeped.

This is a fantastic game, not only because it is a fantastic concept well executed but because this is a quality FREE app. While I would have happily payed 2-3 dollars for this I want to thank the developer for releasing this wonderful game for free. Unlike other "free" games this one will not charge you on micro transactions or bombard you with ads which is an unexpected but pleasant change to the noise of the App Store. 5/5 would be killed by red sounds again.

Ho. Ly. Crap. For a game with such an immense lack of visuals, this is amazing. Excitedly, I noticed the new free app of the week from Apple. I saw the name Dark Echo, and thought "That sounds pretty cool." I viewed the preview photos and thought "Oh. This looks lame." I tried it out anyway and this game actually gets my heart racing, unlike other so-called 'horrors'. If you haven't already, you absolutely NEED to give this game a shot. It will totally blow you away!

BEST GAME EVER. Wow what an addictive,creepy,scary,hard,silent,mystirious,puzzling, game ive ever played, i was lucky that i got this game when it was the app of the week cause if i didnt i would be missing alot of stuff, like i cant stop playin this,i downloaded it today, well if u see the date when i post this it will tell u when i got it, ok so when i got it i was like woah! I pasted so many levels and didnt even give up, some of the levels freaked me out, or puzzled me out, what freaks me out is the scream the guy makes when i have my headphones on, and this game is so puzzleing to me, right now this is the number one app i have downloaded

Very fun, unique game.. I like to imagine I'm playing Daredevil caught in a Resident Evil game. The game is easy to pick up an understand, very fun and super suspenseful. The horror begins to pick up almost immediately at the beginning of the game, but as you get further and further it becomes a lot more about puzzles and using the environment around you to your advantage. This game is extremely addictive and such a unique idea for a game. Would recommend it for anyone who likes puzzle games.

Perfect balance. This is another perfectly balanced game, I honestly think sound is what makes a good game great. You also made the atmosphere fit the game, I was scared and I usually don't get scared, and that's a good thing I enjoy the game because of the sense of adventure and the colors and just plainly everything about it makes me love it. I even posted on Instagram about it, because I usually find a bunch of crappy boring games on here. Congratulations on making one of my most favorite iPhone games. 😍😍

Spooky and quite fun. The concept and implementation here are perfect. This game immerses you in the world by sound alone, and you will not be disappointed. Headphones and a dark room make this even cooler. This is the next great series of games right here. Very cool, and stunningly spooky. You get a sort of Lovecraft feel from this game, never seeing the monster, you are left to imagine it, which adds a lot to the already creaky dripping echoing atmosphere.

Best App of the Week Yet. When, I saw the title, I expected the game to be an indie type of game. What I got was so much more. This game is a perfect blend of horror, strategy, and indie. The game isn't scary so little kids could play but it requires a lot of strategy, for example, remembering where "they" are, or you might run into "them" again and die. Now, I'm not going to bore you with this review but you need to click that install but right now, because there might not be such a great game ever again. This is the most strategical horror game ever and I love it to bits. 😀😊

This game is absolutely amazing. Okay I'm not a person to buy horror games whatsoever. Like I've never purchased, downloaded, or played (for more than 30 seconds before I pee myself) a scary/horror game at all. But then I saw this app online and when I read the description I was like woah, bro. I need this game man. I'm proud to say I've made it to level 22(not very far but a huge accomplishment for me personally) I would give this 11 stars if I could. Also the sound affects are breathe taking it blew my mind.

Horrifyingly Amazing Game!!!. Whenever I download a new game I get over it and delete it within a minute. With this game, however, I AM HOOKED. After reading a few reviews I thought it wasn't going to be that scary and everyone else is just over exaggerating it. As soon as I play a few levels I got really into it and sure enough, my heart starts racing like crazy! It's amazing how such a simple game with lines and footsteps and extra noises can get someone so creeped out and scared. Well thought of game I love it.

So here's the catch. You play as a blind man who is lost in a cave and can use sound to locate where he is. By making noise with your footsteps or making loud crash sounds you can map out your surroundings. But there are blind monsters in the cave as well, as long as they don't hear you they won't chase you. There are many more mechanics that make this horror/puzzler an excellent game. And it's free

Horrifyingly Delightful. One of my favorite apps on the App Store and likely my favorite horror-themed one, Dark Echo is the perfect blend of mystery, intrigue, clever thinking and horror. Fantastically creepy, it's hard to put down...even after you grow accustomed to hearing the screams. Wonderfully designed, it runs smoothly, controls are simple and the graphics are beautiful. Now if only I could manage to beat level XXIX...

Terrifyingly engaging.... First time I played this game was in my dorm room at midnight by myself. I had played a game that had a similar "play by ear" format but it was a bit more technical and a bit more complicated. This game, however, is visually appealing and the sound effects are incredible. The first time I was killed, I screamed. Playing this in the dark felt like I was transported in the game where all I could hear were my footsteps echoing off the walls and danger in the shadows. This game is horror at its simplest and best. It puts you on the edge of your seat and drives your nerves through the roof with only sounds. Definitely worth a try!

Amazing game. This is my first review for apps maybe, but this game really worth recommendations. I start play it at the mid of night and never stop until I finish the 40 areas in dark. At first the red group lines makes me scared but once I can throw stones to move their attentions I am not afraid anymore. For the last serval areas, I like your design and all the ark work. Only hope a better ending or great story will came when I finished the 40 areas. Anyway, it's a great app.

GET THIS GAME!. I love horror, and truthfully is not that bad. This game will occasionally jump scare you with little red monsters, or echoes. The only thing that bugs me is that THERE ARE ONLY 80 LEVELS! I finished, AND I NEED MORE! This is my favorite game in a long time, because are levels are entirely different; besides the fact your guiding your way with echoes! I also found a few awesome glitches in some levels soo! Awesome. I just downloaded it because you know it was the app of the week and it was free but I have to say this is probably one of the best games you will ever play and I recommend it to you. The first few levels are pretty easy but the as you progress it gets harder and harder until you almost can't pass it. Then you become so into it you almost can't put your phone down.

Move over, Five Nights at Freddy's. I got this game for free and only played the game for ten minutes. Never before would I think I'd be this scared. So you have nothing but two footprints and some sounds. I was playing with headphones. Big mistake. You hear this vibrating sound to create tension. Then, you get to level three. It's pretty easy. You see these red lines where you get killed. Imnever died till level seven. It sounds like a zombie roar. I threw my headphones down and took shaky breaths. I'm terified of the dark now.

Check this out. Is this game worth checking out? Definitely. Is it a fantastic work of art that will change the face of mobile gaming? Definitely not. At it's core dark echo is a puzzle game- and when you figure out the level's gimmick any tension and suspense that you might have experienced fizzles away. The concept is superb, I love the idea of minimalist horror game, and the atmospheric sounds are really what make this game a quality 'horror' game as oppose to another genre. But I would have liked to have seen something a little more to push it from the realm of gimmick to the realm of masterpiece 7.3/10

Awesome game!. The game was so addicting! As soon as my friend showed it to me I couldn't stop playing. It was a totally brilliant and unique gaming experience. It reminded me a lot of Limbo for PS3, being that you're in the dark and you're trying to find the light and solving puzzles along the way. So if you like Limbo and dark games like that with a bit of a creepiness factor, then you will enjoy this! :)

Okay, WOW!. Ok so I started out when I saw this while "app of the week" thing. I thought since Apple themselves selected it, it must be GREAT! and the game proved me correct. So I'm looking at the reviews before I downloaded, (I most always do) and to my surprise, it was a horror game, which I did not expect. So I get the game, and I play my first level, and I realize, sometimes, you experience more horror from the simplicity of it, (noises, lines, two footprints, black background) more than clowns and knives and killers etc. and I am hooked now, I may not sleep, but I'm hooked, haha.

Plz Read!!!. OMG so this is the best game I have evr played in a really long time!!! You people should definitely get it! So basically your trying to escape from this evil thing with little bars that indicate where you are an reveal passage ways but it's is pitch black!! It I really fun to play on the dark, and I haven't come out of my room ever since I got this game!! I turn all the lights off and sit in the middle of my room for the scariest experience!! I totally rate this 5 stars!!!

Terrifying Suspenseful and more. This game as reminded me in a way of another game for PC called "The Devils Tuning Fork". The game is based around echo location (I believe so) and you have to find your way around by emitting noise. This game has got to be one of the best games ever in my opinion. I would also suggest play in a dark area and walk around a little to feel as if you are actually in the game if you want a more realistic feel to the game. Definitely play with your headphones or earbuds on full blast.

DOWNLOAD IMMEDIATELY.... ...and then play in the dark with headphones on. seriously. this game is AMAZING. simple yet elegant while being scary and gory... but without being too scary and gory. it makes you use the senses you're given, which really is just sound... and then visual sound. (so, sight, while you look at the screen, ha.) i loves me some puzzle games and this is a really good one! definitely recommend. the only disappointment: finishing the game. oh and then clicking to "see more games" (i got reeeally excited about that) and finding there is just one other kind of dummy lookin one.

Work Of Art.. First off this game straight up astonishing. Simple, but astonishing. I am only on level 14, so I don't see it as a "horror" game yet, but based on other reviews, they say the same thing. It is amazing how something so simple as this, can tear through other minor horror games, even the ones on PC. This artistic creative, and innovative game, definitely has earned a five star rating

Good and creepy!. This game it amazing! You have been sent on a series of rooms when you have just been blinded. Your hearing is twice as good... When you move, some of the room has been revealed... When you clap, you see almost everything for a short amount of time. As you continue, you realize that you are not alone... These creatures that try to hunt you down, they follow the sound that you make... Try to escape...

Reasons why I already love this game. 1. The graphics and sound quality are beautiful. 2. It has an innovative gameplay design 3.ITS THE ONE HORROR GAME I CAN ACTUALLY PLAY. Jumpscares terrify me I can't even play fnaf3 for 5 minutes but this game doesn't rely on that no this game relies on sound to scare you and that is the innovation that most horrors now are lacking also I'd just like to clarify that THIS WAS MADE WITH UNITY which gives me hope in unity once again. I can't wait to get back to playing this game it is simply amazing. :)

This game is amazing!. Exciting, clever, and often downright scary! Imagine being in a pitch black dungeon, with the ability to see sounds your body makes. This game makes that a reality. I feel like I'm actually in the game. So happy I took the chance on this game. It's sounds are amazing, even without headphones. There are many was to use the sounds to help find every exit, and even locate enemies. But don't make your sounds too loud or the enemies will know where you are. Too fun for words. Each level can be completed in minutes so it's perfect for long sessions or a quick level or two on the subway.
