False Advertisement & Misdirection. Presumptively believing your promotion for authentic and secure protection from online visibility along with concealment of identity and such information, I’ve taken the risk and installed this app only to realize THE FIRST thing your service requires is VPN configuration, which is necessary nevertheless, however to allow installment and operation there’s a clear warning stating that if I did indeed want to allow VPN configuration than I must allow the tracking and monitoring of my information. Am I missing something here or is that the most contradictory statement I’ve ever encountered. I mean anonymity should be profound and respected, not warranting and agreeing to collect my data when I’m using the app. Even IF any information pertaining my security and identity is being withheld with collective use of your app, why is it necessary for you to collect it. Certainly If someone needed such information, wouldn’t it be ideal and simple to just obtain it from your database? This app is complete joke and I still can’t seem to understand it’s implications regarding anonymity

Terrible vpn in the world. My husband and I wasted our money on purchasing a VPN service from your company. We remember this purchase as one of the worst experiences and we have advised others not to use this VPN. Buy it, the worst service, quality decline after annual purchase, servers that are permanently disconnected, repetitive response and failure to solve the problem.... It's true that we lost $200, but we got a good experience and you lost us and a lot of potential customers! By buying a VPN for $4 per month, I got speed and quality that cannot be compared to your company! I recommend that your colleagues also use this VPN, it is much better than Betternet!

Hi everyone, I’m using this app. through (about) the last 2 years, most of the time it’s working-on properly with some good speed of internet connectivity, but rarely, it’s unable to getting reach to the network that’s not clear why it is happening; I can guess that most of the malfunctioning is depending to our region’s quality of services, but do not know what’s the reason for the other times, hope to be solved soon; Finally, it’s better to say that the “Betternet” is effecting 90%(a little bit more or less) and replying to the most of requests;At last, I just wanted to appreciate to the team of the app. for publishing this that can make us able to connect to internet without censorship and surfing the web securely. Not even good as the free VPN app. I subscribed this app and paid the monthly fee after the 7-day free trial. It works ok (sometimes not working) for less than three weeks. And then not able to connecting at all. Every time it said “something went wrong” or just connecting for a while then gave up (appeared like I never clicked the connect), or some other words but no be able to connect. So I tried to contact the support team but it insisted asked me to set up a “mail account”??? I have my email address registered already. What does that supposed to mean? So I uninstalled the app and reinstalled it. Funny thing is that it won’t allow me to “install profile” in setting. When I clicked “install profile”, it jumped to the VPN setting page and no matter what I chose, the app stayed the same, at the “install profile” page. After more than fifty times of this repeating process, I gave up. I was not be able to contact the support team nor be able to connect or set up the VPN configuration. Worst part is I’m paying for this “not working” service. I tried a free VPN. It works just fine. Not sure why I purchased this app in first place. 1 star is a compliment to its function. It should earn no star at all.

Does not work. If I’m luckyI can get like thirty minutes with it. It randomly just stops working. Which is VERY frustrating. Most of the time it works for one single search or page then immediately stops working. On multiple occasions where I just needed to use it for one page and expected it to just work once or even for like 20 seconds (at least) it still failed. It would turn on and before I even got to use it with in a few seconds it was off again? Having to constantly open the app to get it to work while being bombarded by ads is very inconvenient. What’s the point of ads if it just doesn’t work? Had ads that lasted longer than most of my vpn sessions. Only because they were cut short to force me to watch another ad. Just watched like 20 ads rn for like 2 minutes of usage. NOT RELIABLE. DO NOT TRUST THIS APP TO ASSIST YOU IN ANY WAY, LET ALONE PROTECT YOU. Other much better apps on the store.

Solid free vpn, can be annoying sometimes. I’m typing this review because of how slowly annoyed I’ve gotten from this vpn. I realize most vpns make you pay to even use them, so good on this one for being free. My problems start here: you usually have to watch an ad that you can skip after 10 seconds of view time, but then you usually have to wait another 10 seconds to click the x. Okay not that bad so far. They have to make money somehow. My problem stems from the fact sometimes the app doesn’t even connect, and forces you to watch another ad. What really frustrates me, however, is that you have to watch an ad (sometimes 2 also) just to turn it OFF. I tried to outsmart it by going into iPhone settings to turn off it there, but it very quickly turns itself back on. Obviously the greed here is me having to turn it off in the app, just to watch an ad and HOPE it turns off the first time. The vpn works as you would hope, and thankfully it’s even free. Just a minor complaint with the ads imo. I also get annoyed with the app for constantly promoting their paid version of the app which you have to swipe 7 times to end up clicking the x. Happens every so often. I get some people need money, but there’s better way to do this. Every ad just makes me want to pay less and spend my hard earned cash on another app. 3/5 stars. Fully functional but an accumulation of frustrations majorly down the score.

Seemingly illegal/sketchy. So, I have used Betternet for a long time. I was browsing the internet, and came across a pop-up ad yelling at me YOUR IPHONE IS INFECTED WITH (sic) VIRUS! I decided to humor it, and went ahead, and it said that I needed to use “this VPN that will show up after clicking the button below. You must use it at all times especially on public WiFi or else your iPhone will be infected and lose all of your credit cards and contacts and iTunes blah blah blah. And when I clicked on that button... this app was what it sent me to. Why on earth are they trying to hire super sketchy ads threatening you with a virus, and trying to lie and trick you into using Betternet... like that’s kinda... possibly illegal and all... or at the very least it really made me lose what respect I had for the devs. Really you are going to lie and cheat people into downloading your app, convince them that without it they are in physical/financial danger, that’s practically blackmail. DOWNLOAD THIS APP OR ELSE YOU WILL GET VIRUS!!! Is not usually what you hear from tech companies, at least the not-morally-bankrupt ones.

Best Free App. I’ve been using Betternet ever since the day certain messaging apps were banned at my high school, which was nearly 10 years ago now. The app has only improved since the first time I’ve used it. Even though there is now a Free and Premium side to this app, the Free version has enough features for me to not even notice a difference. Be aware that a pop-up usually appears when you join the app, showing you Premium’s features. Just swipe to the right-most section to continue with your Free purchase. Some people confuse this pop-up to be something you must agree to, forcing you to purchase the Premium version, but that’s not the case. Anyway, love this app!

From 15 Hours to 15 Minutes. BetterNet was a fantastic and functional app. They had ads occasionally but it was tolerable as I am not able to afford Premium (aside from a couple glitches) because it worked smoothly and allowed VPN connection for up to approximately fifteen hours. Once you turned it on, it was fine for the day until you needed to turn it off. But now, we must watch ads to only have fifteen minutes of VPN time. Today, it wouldn’t even let me watch the ad to get my fifteen minutes of time. I have used BetterNet since 2019 and this recent update makes it useless to me. Please restore BetterNet to its days prior to the update because it seems that nobody will be using it in the future if ads must be watched every fifteen minutes when other VPNs offer the same service with easier access and fewer ads. I will edit my review if the app changes or is improved to a state in which it resembles its old state, but for now I will be looking for a new VPN.

Most User Friendly. I’ve used many different VPNs over the last 10 years. I’ve been using Betternet on my phone and Mac’s for the last 6 years. First off. IT WORKS! There are ways to test it and the means I have to test it put it through a somewhat rigorous test. It is extremely reliable, and you have hundreds of locations to choose from. I’m not a paid add or anything. I genuinely love this company. Affordable and works on my phone and mac simultaneously on same subscription. Other VPNs do not have that luxury. I’ve dodged making these reviews over the years and finally decided to give one Betternet. This is my one and only review ive ever made on an App. So that’s saying something. Thanks Betternet! Keep doing what you’re doing!

Advertisement infused Garbage. This app used to be the best go to VPN especially for getting past Wi-Fi that block certain sites for instance many school Wi-Fi’s. However;Now the app forces you to watch ads just to connect and disconnect from your VPN and also brings up the screen to pay for the premium version of the app when you go to disconnect that way some of the times when you just want to disconnect the VPN so you can use the Internet as normal you have to go through several pages just to click a little HTML link in a text that says “proceed with ads”. Of course the developer makes this link deliberately much smaller than the button that says pay for premium without ads. TLDR; Betternet was once the best vpn out there. But now that you need to watch full screen no skip ads JUST TO DISCONNECT, it’s not even second best as there’s a plethora of free VPNs out there you can use that just have banner ads if anything. VPN proxy master is an alternative if you find yourself having issues with this app, but I must warn you that it’s essentially a clone of this app- full screen ads and the constant harassment to buy the full version.

It works when it wants to. Just btw many of the 5 star ratings exist for this app because the app said it would connect if you rated it 5 stars. Betternet is great when it works. At school, without betternet, the wifi is slow and any social media is blocked. With betternet I can access all my apps and use them and the speed of it is pretty good. The worst part of it is having to connect it every time and the times when it doesn't connect. Sometimes I click the connect button and it sits there and doesn't even register the click. Sometimes it asks me to watch a short video and then connect. I watch the short video and it won't even try to connect after. I'm not disappointed that it is unable to connect, but that it is unresponsive sometimes and doesn't even try.

GETTING CHARGED ON MY ITUNES. first i’ll start off by saying my bad for not looking further into my bank statements about this. but i was seeing this as itunes apple store thinking this was my apple music (i realize this would’ve been two separate charges but again that’s why i said my bad) but i learned today how to take off “subscriptions” on itune accounts and come to find out this app has been charging me (only visible is since november) i used this app so long ago and if i’ve been charged for that long i will be highly disappointed. this app hasn’t been downloaded and i didn’t know how i signed up for a “platinum” subscription. going to call itunes and hopefully this app if they have a customer service line tomorrow and get this figured out. i would’ve never thought of this app or used this app again if it wasn’t for me going into the subscription thing. will for sure steer clear of this app .

Betternet. Sorry if this message is a bit weird written, I’m rushing it. Overall this is a great app! I like how you are able to change your location to hide from hackers, and you’re able to have a better wifi source that’ll allow you to connect to different apps in bad service areas! I think that this app can improve on the price range- but it still does work nonetheless without pay but it sometimes randomly disconnects if you don’t pay which is slightly annoying. Also a warning for people getting this app- sometimes it shows inappropriate ads.

DO NOT TRY FREE TRIAL!. My husband downloaded this app for me while traveling abroad this past Aug. We agreed to the 7 day free trial. We decided it wasn’t worth it and cancelled the service BEFORE the free trial ended and just realized they have been charging my card monthly. Even though the Apple subscription page AND the their app both say I cancelled Aug 6th. They have charged me for 4 months. They refunded me for Oct and Nov but said their records show we just cancelled the service this week! LIES. I have screen shotted the cancellation and provided it for them 4 times and they still claim that the APPLE store messed up. Ummmm no. The Apple Store didn’t continue to charge my card. They also say there is nothing they can do because it’s 45 days past the other charges so I can not dispute them!!! It’s not the money, it’s the fact that they are calling us liars when we have proof of cancelation and they do not have proof that we agreed to continue the service! I logged onto the app for the first time this week to figure out what in the world was going on with the charges!!! There is no telephone number to call, no direct resource to a person, just repeated email correspondences from different people telling me that this is my fault and not theirs. DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS APP OR TRY THE FREE TRIAL. They just want your credit card number to illegally charge you.

I’ve been being charged for premium for the past 4 months. I downloaded the app because it was free, tried it for a couple days and found out it didn’t work. I deleted the app and noticed I started getting charged on the apple store 10 dollars every couple weeks and couldn’t recall which app I had signed up for. After 2 months I got annoyed to the point of cancelling my card. This app emailed me today asking if I wanted to correct my card information to continue a premium membership that I never signed up for. Looking at the comments it doesn’t seem like anyone has had a similar problem but the developers of the app don’t even seem to care about any complaints that much and respond to any negative comment with a generic response asking someone to take even more time out of their day to complain about something that’s not worth their time

Free to Use, at least until you lose all your hours.. This is by far one of the best VPN in the market if you’re looking for a good one, but unfortunately, it only gives you about 15 hours per month. Which when you’re in a school, makes it incredibly difficult to conserve during the day. But don’t worry you can earn back hours by watching ads!… only a set amount of hours though! Why, why did you do this? They could’ve super easily made it where you just had to watch 4 ads for an hour. But nooo, we have to force people to pay for this!!!!!1!1!1!!1!1!1 Listen, if you want a good VPN, this one is good, but it’s again: a limited time thing. If they made it where it wasn’t limited to earning only 5 hours back per month, it would be 5 stars easily. Betternet if you read this, change it.

Move on, it does not work. Every time I pressed play to watch a movie. it would just direct me back to the movie over and over. If I was lucky a movie would play after Maybe twenty or so tries. AND the ads!!!!! They pop up half way up the screen and if you click the X??? The movie is redirected to the beginning along with the relentless ads. I suppose it’s ok if you just want to look at pictures, I’m very disappointed and I’m hoping they cancel the service without a hassle. Hopefully I’ll find an app that actually does what it says it’s supposed to do someday. You’ve been warned. If you don’t mind spending two hours to watch two five minute movies, you’ll be happy with their service if I give it one star it’ll be because it won’t let me post this without giving it at least one star. I give it minus two stars for the extreme frustration caused by dealing with this app. I forgot. If it actually works, it will be SLOW!

Betternet is a great app. I really like Betternet because it helps me a lot with social protection when I am traveling and makes my day a lot smoother. There are barely any adds and even if there would be one it wouldn’t be constantly drowning you in adds. They really care about there downloaders and I appreciate that a lot because there are many apps where they would drown you in adds just to get money but Betternet helps you and cares for you and not irritating you. This is my true review I would recommend it to anyone who is paranoid about getting hacked or just wants a little protection with their accounts on social media, banks, email, and other important things on your phone, computer or any other devices. I really hoped this helped you in making your decision to download the app Betternet.

Keeps automatically connecting :(. I’ve been using Betternet for years and its been great outside of this issue. Every time there’s a change in the Wifi network I’m using Betternet turns on, which is extremely annoying because I only use it for 1 network, since it slows down my internet if I use it on anything else. Auto-protect isn’t even an option for me in the app so I don’t understand why it keeps doing this over and over and over again?? I’ve tried to get it to stop automatically connecting by using my phone settings but its not an option there either. Absolutely sick of having to keep turning it back off every 30 minutes.

Fast internet and I can’t connect after getting premium. If you have issues with the free version, I feel like there is no right to complain. It’s free and you get what you pay for. And the free versions has always worked kind of good for me. However, I wanted to play some games on my phone and get a little more speed (like it advertises) and choose my servers. Now that I upgraded I can connect 1/10 times, and that is a generous number. I love in mainland China right now and I can’t even connect to Hong Kong. Every server since I upgraded has barely worked and even when I connect it’s been slower than the free version. Although the free version works fine for me, the premium has been a major disappointment. Hopefully it improves, I have really enjoyed Betternet on trips past. But if you are in China I do not suggest it. For now I need to find something that works.

Pretty Good. Sometimes takes a few tries to be able to connect. Works pretty well though! - Update: I’m currently in China on vacation since about 2 weeks ago. And I tried so many different free vpn’s and only a couple actually connected but most had really slow speeds. Until I found this one, and it worked really well compared to others and I could use Instagram and use other social media’s that china has blocked at decent speeds. But now it stopped connecting after about more then a week, so I deleted it and redownloaded, and now it looks slightly different and still won’t collect. I don’t know if it’s bc there’s only a certain amount of days I can connect freely or something else.

Roz is my name and “Betternet” is my game. I’ve used this app for about a year now and I’m just going to say it’s AMAZING. I only got it so I could try it out because the ad looked to good to be true. So I did and they did not lie this app gives you free WiFi wherever you go. You don’t even have to pay for it. Even if you don’t get the premium it still works pretty faster WiFi, 10+ virtual locations, ad-free experience, connect up to 5 devices and 24/7 tech support. The premium just gives up to 4x faster FREE WiFi. But like I said before it still goes pretty fast with the basic one. P.S. I’m not lying I’m being for real I’m a 12 year old kid being honest.

Removal of the 15 free hours. Prior to the update where there was a free 15 hours without premium you just had to watch ads I would’ve given it 5 it worked great for 2 years until giving 15 hours a day since it’s worked great for that long it’s a 3/5 great if you get premium but now it’s just like every other vpn where it makes it seem like it’s going to work even if you don’t have premium then when you get the app you can’t connect unless you have the premium or unless you watch an ad but only get 15 minutes which is so little time it’s not worth the effort to watch if it gave a hour or even 45 minutes per ad it’d be better

Useless. This app used to work just fine for me for around 2 years, but now lately it doesn’t work at all and ever since they’ve been pushing so much for people to get premium it’s worked less and less. The last time I tried using it I ended up sitting there in the app for over a half hour waiting for it to connect. Sometimes it’d give up and act as though I’d pressed cancel, going back to how it is before you try connecting. Other times it’d turn red and say it couldn’t connect. Then I tried contacting support, but ironically the email couldn’t go through because I couldn’t use the WiFi without the VPN the app’s supposed to give me. I ended up deleting it after that. I refuse to pay for premium, too, because it’s just not something worth spending money on. It looks like to me that they’ve been making the free version ridiculously slow and crappy to make people pay for premium, and I’m not here for that. Annoyed, disappointed, and won’t be using this app again or recommending it to anyone

A few problems. I’ve noticed some problems. For example, the majority of the time I need to turn it off when searching something and then turn it back on after it loads. Something about not having permission to the server, even if it’s just a simple google search. Also, it gets annoying how every two hours it gives me the “turn betties into free time” page even if I’m supposed to get fifteen hours of free time, and that time hasn’t even run out yet. It’s just annoying at this point, and unnecessary. I do however like the fact how it gives you free time every day, but seeing the page for it every two hours isn’t ideal. Another problem I’ve noticed, is that it tends to make things take forever to load. If I want to use Pandora, but have it on, it takes forever to load. This is for both WiFi and data usage. There’s also certain WiFis I’ve noticed it has some major issues with. Long story short, this VPN isn’t very useful and has a lot of problems. If you want semi-good, free VPN, then this is great if you’re willing to deal with everything mentioned above. I understand free VPNs aren’t as good as paid ones, but this one is just ridiculous.

"we're trying our best". What a joke. They aren't trying at all. So, as of now, I'm staying in china for a couple of weeks and to keep in touch with friends, I decided to download a vpn. I expected it to work beautifully (because the wifi here is moderate) and it didn't work at all. Video streaming was absolute garbage, and I could only watch videos for about 30 seconds before the vpn would be unresponsive. I can't even use social media to the point where I can't even view usernames of people, much less their posts. Internet browsing is horrifying, the time it takes for a website to load takes as long as it does for me to eat a 4 course meal (which takes about 2 hours). I'm pretty sure that the only way you can get faster connections is to spend your money. There are better vpn's out there. Don't use this one

Only reason why it isn’t getting a 1 star is because it still offers a free version. This is absolutely a joke of a VPN app. If you have any money to spare to get the VIP version, use any other VPN than this one. Half of its Premium servers don’t work or so slow that it’s just not worth it - I straight up couldn’t use any of the US servers (and they even reduced the VIP servers by like 20 cuz they all didn’t work) Horrible app interface: so many times the app just gets stuck and I after clicking connect/disconnect nothing happens and I have to do it through the VPN config in settings. Only use this if you don’t want to spend any money on a VPN as it’s only upside is that it’s one of the few services that still offer a free version, but don’t ever consider using it if you can spend some money- use it to get a VIP of any other VPN.

Only displays in portrait mode?. It does what it's supposed to the vast majority of the time. While I don't like that I have to use the (relatively) slow app to turn on/off the VPN, it does work as a VPN should. I wish I could use the iOS VPN toggle to use it. The app only displays in portrait mode, so if you use your iPad in landscape, with a keyboard, it will show up sideways. With all the functionality now turned 90 degrees. Turn on VPN. Then use the side of the screen, where the bar that's normally at the bottom is now sitting, to swipe out of the app or switch apps. It's cumbersome, and the only app I have installed that doesn't rotate or use landscape mode. Anyway, 4 stars for these two small gripes.

Needs improvement.... Okay so the only reason I use this app is because our school’s WiFi blocked basically every social media app that TEENS USE EVERY DAY OF THEIR LIVES. Here’s the deal. Sometimes whenever I open Snapchat the Betternet app just randomly disconnects and then every time I try to send my streaks or even so much as one snap, the VPN app tears up my service and my streaks take decades to send. Sometimes I even have to turn off both the app and the WiFi in order for my snaps to be able to send more quickly. Yeah that doesn’t help either, because sometimes the app reconnects itself even when I’m using data and just makes the service even worse. I’ve also tried deleting and reinstalling the app several times, and it only works on occasion or when I’m on any other WiFi other than the school’s WiFi. The general gravity of this situation is that this app just ruins my service and I hate it. Every time I’m somewhere where Snapchat is blocked on their WiFi, BETTERNET WORSENS THE SERVICE! IT’S SUPPOSED TO IMPROVE THE SERVICE NOT DETERIORATE IT! It’s called BETTERnet for a reason! This app needs a lot of adjustments.

Liking it but have questions. From my understanding of VPN, this appears to be an awesome app, particularly given that it is free. I went to their web site to explore the premium option, but critical information, such as the cost was not available, so for now I'm passing on that. I also noted instructions for setting a "profile," though no explanation for what that entails, how to do it, or how that profile might be used. Several readers wrote to inquire-in the FAQ section, but no answers were displayed. This weekend I was trying to set up a new cable box online, and after several failed attempts, realized it was because the VPN feature was on. Had to close it out to get cable via new box. This leads me to assume that Betternet works.

Completely stopped working on WiFi.. I have been using this vpn for the last 2 weeks and everything was fine until 1 week had passed. All off a sudden, the vpn absolutely would not work on any WiFi network. I would try to get it to connect 100 times a day on multiple different networks and it simply did nothing at all. Completely lost contact with all my friends and family back home. However, for some reason when I pay for international data it works just fine! What’s up with that? I refuse to pay to use international data every single day and I need to be able to communicate on multiple blocked platforms. Ive tried to redownload, reconfigure, and change locations countless times, but nothing ever works. So disappointing. I paid for a premium account to make sure I could stay in contact with my family, but the premium account is seemingly worth nothing. Not worth it.

mediocre... unfortunately I'm not that impress with this app. I work in china and a VPN is essential for me. I had ExpressVPN but unfortunately it stopped working a few months ago so I had to find another app. After downloading the trial version of Betternet I was happy with the results: it connected every time in just a few seconds and seemed to work ok. But only after buying the premium version I discovered multiples flaws: • It shows VPN is on (connected) but most of the time I doubt it is because nothing works... • Most of the time it works only for the first 2-3 minutes right after it's switched on, then it still shows it's connected but it doesn't work • When connected it's extremely slow, doesn't matter what country you connect to or if you use "smart connection" option.

With Paid Subscription App Works Good, Would Like to see some more Improvements. App works pretty good for the most part. Tried them out with the free version & it worked ok & wanted to see how the full version does, so I decided to do the trial & then bought the pay version & it has worked with good speeds & how quick it connects for the most part, but they need to figure out a way to get it to successfully connect on networks that use content filters & or firewalls to block VPN connections. (Which I think blocking VPN’s should be illegal.) Feature request/idea: Can you add a feature when you choose The option optimal location that it will show which location you connected to. Also, it be cool to have a feature users could turn on or off where you can choose up to a top 5 preferred connection locations so when you connect it would choose the best connection of the 2-5.

Does not work consistently. We paid for the premium version to use while visiting Iceland because Iceland servers do not allow you to use pandora. While driving around we had a Wi-Fi router in our car that worked great and we used this VPN to change our location so that we could play music without any issues. However, this app has a tendency to just stop working and out music would turn off. We could see that it was not a Wi-Fi issue because there had been no interruptions in connection or data speeds. We would have to force close the app and restart it in order for it to work properly again for a little while. I used to use this service regularly on my laptop as well. But they just don’t provide great service with their paid plan and their free plan is garbage now that they incorporated ads that only allow you 15 minutes of limited use. I’d recommend saving your money and time and look elsewhere.

Not what I expected. As this being my first ever review after being with Apple for years, I felt like I needed to give my two cents on what my opinion is on this app. Sketchy. Shady. Dysfunctional. When I was setting up the vpn profile, it was going smoothly, little vpn sign next to my internet which I thought was pretty neat, then 1-2 hours later, it cut my home internet off completely. I tried forgetting the Internet then rejoining and it would show I’m connected but then never work. I tried deleting the VPN profile then trying it again, still no luck. It was at this point I was starting to get worried. I reset my phone a couple times. Nada, then when I finally deleted the app, and Reset Settings, it finally worked. I don’t know what you guys did, but this has never happened before with Xfinity internet (I download a lot of third party apps and never had this problem) Either fix this humongous bug or my review stays fixed at a well deserved 1 star. Disappointing.

Does the job & caring devs. Working vpn. When it breaks- fixed the next day. No longer has ads and has great speed with decent free locations. I’ve been pretty on and off with this app as it would work for an extent until my school gets around to breaking it. However, recently been using it without switching to another vpn for around 5 months, maybe more. The app had ads to gain 15 mins worth of free vpn. The ads were quick and skippable. Last couple months it stopped the ads and just allowed unlimited free time. Not sure if devs gave this privilege to everyone or only to those who sticked with the app for a long time time, but either way I like to think that they care.

Good but have a few complaints. Overall, BetterNet has been a great VPN app for me, but despite the flawless service it provides me with, I have encountered a few problems. I would connect the VPN, and switch the time zone to the UK, and it wasn’t a problem. I have used it to play Fortnite, and other games. When I am playing, It will tell me i have run out of free time, and I won’t me mad, but what kind of disappointed me was when: 1 . After I’m out of free time, it will freeze my whole game. 2. While in gameplay, I will experience extreme levels of lagging when playing the game. Idk why and how this is happening, but I will be very grateful if you fix these bugs. Thank you!

It is freaking ANOYING!!! And weird..... Ok so I know that I am like 12 but I actadentally ran into this an I was trying to get free v bucks at the time🙄 and it showed an ad and you had to download the app to get the v bucks so I went to the AppStore to get it and then when I got it I did the 7-day trial an then I left it runing for twenty mins and when I came back I deleted the app and so I went to clam the v bucks and it didn't work😥 so I went on with my day and forgot about it. An than about a month later my grandma asks us if we used her debit card to buy anything and we said no......but later that other day I went to my dads house were my iPad is an I look at it and it's been charging money to my grandmas debit card so ya........so we tried to fix it be we gave up.......but I remembered today that we need to fix this so ya we are still trying to get Rid of it so that's my story hope this helps you!!😉👍

Greedier by the minute. After using this app for almost five years, I’m incredibly disappointed with the direction Betternet’s taken— once an app that exchanged access to 15 hours of VPN service with one ad to connect and one to disconnect, Betternet now requires you to watch a 30 second ad per 15 MINUTES of service. Ads previously were already exponentially increasing the hoops they required users to jump through (watch 10 seconds of a 30 second ad, THEN wait for the interactive to be done, THEN sit at another loading screen that offers the user to download the app before finally achieving access). These ads are incredibly sketchy, often faking out users by adding fake exit buttons on their ads in an attempt to fish users into accidentally clicking on the ad, which will open up the app store. I remember a time where Betternet thrived off of just memberships; when free users had unlimited service time and no ads to stop for. It’s disheartening to see how low the app has gone to take every last cent it can grasp.

Can’t use my Betties. This is a great VPN and I definitely recommend it, although I have run into two problems. One is that even if I’m on secure wifi, it automatically connects and wastes my free time, and I can’t cash out my Betties to convert into free time, which is of course extremely annoying. I would love if you could add a button to press to convert, or if you could maybe use a different ad system, like if I was to watch 12 ads, I would get 24 hours of free time. I feel like this would be better. Besides this, this is a great VPN app and I definitely would recommend it. Edit: I found out how, but in the meanwhile, have found a new problem. I would love it if I could cash out all my time at once. 5 hours is not enough for the rest of the month, especially since it randomly connects to SECURED wifi. Either way, this is still a good VPN, and I would love to see improvements, since this is my go-to.

If I could give it no stars I would. If a company can’t respond to requests for help it doesn’t matter how great their product is! I have been locked out of the App Store because this company somehow started billing me for premium services. It was a mistake I am sure my child made while using my phone which is no big deal. I figured fine I’ll pay for the service once and cancel it but they won’t respond to me to cancel it. Twice I have emailed and twice I have heard nothing back. I’m sick and tired of not being able to even update my other apps because this company isn’t in touch with basic customer service. Wanna get lost and forgotten? Then download the app. What are you waiting for get the best app if you want to be screwed. Hmmmm perhaps a new name for your app is better screw. DO NOT DOWNLOAD (auto subscription will not cancel through settings). I downloaded this app months ago when I needed a VPN. I do not recall even subscribing to receive the premium, which could be my mistake. However, I noticed in my bank statements that I was being charged monthly. After going through my settings for Apple renewal pay I realized this app was not on there. After some research I figured out the app was not using my Apple account, but was actually charging my bank directly! With that being said I logged onto the website and there was no way to actually cancel it on there! I’ve constantly been looking up ways to help. The website itself does not allow for cancellations for subscription! I have come to realize that the reviews are mostly fake when it comes to the positive ones. Do your research on this app DONT DOWNLOAD

Cant activate Premium. I have the premium version running in IOS and the basic version in Windows 10 laptop. Their suport team is one that any other app developer should look up to. Reliable vpn connections are key in the system. I just wish they maintain this business model and keep up with this fine app that I am sure they are proud of. ------------- 14 July 2017 Betternet had a very good offer to go Premium for one year, with a 60% discount. I immediately go for it. What my qualms are now: 1. On my Windows 10 app, there are no option of login let alone to change the location of the server. The mini app was designed for free users. 2. In my Iphone, I logged out and logged in with expectation of Premium menus. I did verify in my email link to add my first device (out of 5), but the app interface did not change and still have my free menus and button to "Go Premium". So.... after 2 days purchasing I still dont get anything besides the free connection VPN. I asked helpdesk but the instructions does not sync with what the app gives. Hope I get a resolution soon. ------------- 17 August 2017 Finally, a windows app that could also go premium!

No longer works. BetterNet has been great on and off. I live in China where much of the internet is blocked by the government and using a VPN is the only way around it. At times, BetterNet would connect quickly and work fine, but other times it has tried repeatedly and failed to connect, popping up an apology message every so often while the circles around the face icon pulsed. But for at least the past week or two now, the app does work at all. When I try to connect, an advertisement pops up on the first tap, but nothing else happens. I can close the ad and tap the “connect” button again, but it does nothing - no pulsing circles, no colors, no change in the face icon’s expression, no error messages, no apologies, and no VPN connection. I sent a message, but in the automated reply message, they refused to address the problem because I’m don’t pay for their “premium” service.

Straight forward!. I love this app! It’s so straight forward and easy to use. And the subscription price was the best, back when I was shopping around. Most others were between $10-$15/mo. I did not realize how well it worked until a state representative for an online account I had, had been helping me troubleshoot something unrelated , and then he stops and says, wait, have you ever been to or know why I might be seeing a log in attempt by you from New Hampshire? (I live in northern Nevada and have never been there) and when he said that, I was concerned for a moment .. but then realized the prior month, that I was using the VPN more often because I was using more public WiFi; and realized that I had indeed been using an east coast state as my selection. Therefore, it really works! Also, occasionally I have to verify some account log ins when I am using the VPN, because it catches and “unfamiliar login attempt from ______” So again, it’s straightforward, and It’s a solid VPN. I HIGHLY recommend for people who are just now learning what a VPN is, and when they should use one. It doesn’t have a whole lot of overwhelming options and other capabilities like others. It’s just flat out, a simple VPN. Thank you, Betternet!

Ads Version. At first you see thus believe the only way to use is to gain access to there Free Trial Offer, Afterwhich if you don’t unsubscribe by the allotted time you get put on the hook for the fee for service. However, I finally decided to swipe right/left all the way to the end of the 3 sliding screens (••• = 3 Screens; Dots located at bottom of each slide but above the bottom non moving margin/ banner that dictates use of there trial/fee service ) once you arrive at the end aka the last screen aka dot #3 there’s the option to use an ads based variation to there alternate fee based version. Just in case anyone thought you had only one option, now you’ll know you don’t. I just happened to stumble upon the access section for the ads version of which is of course FREE 24/7 but yet limited as to what I assume the fee based version provides.

Pretty Good👍. I have used Betternet for a few months now and I have been pretty happy with the results, I use it when I am at school because the school WiFi is ridiculously slow and it filters a lot of things. It connects about 90% of the time and when it doesn’t it’s because the WiFi is not connected yet, and I do not own Premium, I have only run into about 3 adds total, and it has never gave me any connection issues, it may rarely disconnect, but it reconnections almost instantly. Like I said I think this app is worth downloading and using for protection for your privacy and a better signal for certain places. Have A Good Day Everybody! 😁👍👌

Too many ads. Back when I used to use Betternet it was awesome, an ad here or there, didn’t mind watching them cause the product was definitely worth it. I didn’t use it for a cpl years, and last year when I came back to Betternet, it was just a cesspool of intrusive ads, can’t even use it without being forced to watch a long video ad. Also, I miss the days before the 15 minute timer. On another note, I just replenished my timer by “watching” a video, then disconnected after about two minutes to do something and five minutes later when I went to reconnect it said “no free time left.” Betternet used to be my go to vpn, but now it appears they have worked really hard to take a five star product and render it down to two!

Good app overall but always overcharges me. I visit China a lot so it's necessary for me to be able to go on my google account and other social media platforms. I have gotten a premium account because I re-download it basically every year. It automatically connects after my phone has been locked for a while and the connection is pretty fast. Overall I like it. But one time I signed on to my account on my Mac, and they treated it as a brand new premium account even tho I used the same Apple ID, and charged me again. I had to contact Apple support and all that for a refund. Second time, 1 year after I had deleted it, I only needed it for 3 days. when I re-downloaded it, it says I have 7 days of free trail. However, they charged me again full price the second I authorized the download. Now I gotta contact Apple support again. Sure, their connection is fast enough, but man, they certainly are faster to charge you.

This app broke my device!. This app broke my device. At first, when I used it, it was very smooth. Now, I deleted it because it was taking up some storage on my device. But then, when I removed the app, it broke my WiFi. The wifi is perfectly fine but somehow I can’t connect to it without the app. Even worse, I now can’t even use my other VPN’s. They worked perfectly fine before but somehow ever since I removed the app, every VPN that works really well on my device doesn’t work now. I can’t connect to the WiFi. Please fix this, it is really annoying and inefficient.

Didn’t even download. I didn’t even download this app but all of a sudden I couldn’t download any other applications because of a pending payment I had unpaid. I don’t have correct banking details in my account because I never actually purchase subscriptions. Now to rectify I have to make a payment and then ask for a refund? For something I didn’t even download? This app also showed up on my MacBook and brought nothing but viruses to a point I had to take my MacBook to an Apple store to get it fixed as it was unusable. Does not protect your Mac and somehow adds itself to your device? Where is the legality to this and how is this still and app in the App Store?

Best VPN app on iOS by far. This app is brilliant! I've tried many other VPNs, but this one has such a clean display, minimal ads, and fast connection every single time, which is something I know I cannot say about any other VPN.

Not really good. So I downloaded this VPN and then it worked smoothly for a few hours then it starts going crazy. First it just keeps on failing to connect, and then i decides to close it but then it keeps trying to connect and slowing down the mobile data and WiFi. I guess you can delete it and re-download but it is not a very easy VPN to deal with. But anyway it’s about the only free VPN to actually work however bad it is.

Betternet letter. Betternet has been great for me, I have had much better internet since downloading the app. I only have time to write this but I do recommend to everyone who has slow internet.

Be careful what you click. Be very careful when you tapping the screen to discover this app. You may very easily sign up to their premium. Once signed up, there’s no easy way you can cancel your subscription. Although their website or FAQ saying ‘you may cancel via my account setting’, well, good luck if you can find such thing on both the app and website. All I can say is ‘good luck!’. I’m trapped!! $16 bux to learn a lesson and here I’m warning you all.

Simple.... Overall this app works great. However when you prefer a certain location (not the optimal location), the app takes such a painstakingly long to connect and fails to connect. It needs improvement...fast. Newest info, now they only let us use the free version with limited time, basically we only have 15 hours per month to go online for “free”..why oh why...plus ads...

Didn't even know I subscribed!!. I didn't even know I had subscribed then I rack up a $16 subscription fee and it's taken me over an hour to figure out how to unsubscribe! They need to inform the customers by something as simple as an email if they've accidentally subscribed as I entered no sign up information, and make the unsubscribe options clear and easy to access. I downloaded this app once and within the same 5 minutes I deleted it but now look where I am!! This has caused me so much stress!!! A refund would be highly appreciated

Disappointing. I’ve had Betternet for many years. I don’t use it often and for what I needed it for it was free but now it opens on a subscriber screen. I have to go through iTunes to activate free trial which will roll over into premium if I don’t cancel. This was never the case. All free features were available when I added this app several years ago. Such a hassle now for the occasional user.

Doesn’t work after you pay the subscription amount. I had no issues during the 7 day trial period. But the day past after I paid for their monthly subscription it doesn’t connect anymore. Now I am stuck up with a VPN connection for a month without even using. I tried contacting support but it says to register my email. I mean if I am logged in then why can’t they give access to contact support.

keeps connecting automatically. No matter how many times I’ve turned my vpn off in the last week it keeps connecting automatically BUT it doesn’t even work when it does that and affects both the wifi and data. It just says it’s connected and then I turn it off and immediately afterwards it turns itself back on. I don’t know how to fix this and I really liked the app before this happened.

Good but it need to be able to bypass dpi. So i was using this at my school it worked really well but recently my school had added dpi to their servers and now I can't use this vpn or any other ones

SHADY company. These guys are a scam, I have been charged $17 for a free trial which I cancelled IMMEDIATELY after downloading, will be chasing for a full refund and complaining about these idiots. UPPDATE—- Apple quickly refunded me as I notified this immediately, Lesson learned; do NOT purchase trials from these sort of outfits, their game is to push you onto a premium subscription immediately after the ‘free trial’, they rely on you not noticing that you will be charged $17 a month for the premium service you did not sign up for. The concerning thing here is I cancelled the subscription immediately after download, however I was still signed up to some premium service without my knowledge with no clear way to remove myself. Luckily Apple themselves were very helpful and immediately refunded me, shame on this company for their tactics.

It’s pretty good but after a while I’ve been using it for I put it on it’ll disconnect me from the wifi and put me onto my data and won’t let me connect back to the wifi without turning vpn off again. And my friends have no clue how to get past the paying for premium, you should have the skip and have ads button straight away so it’s easier

Do not download. I downloaded this because it is trusted on computers but don’t do it on mobile. When I used it it would sometimes take a full minute to load apps or websites. It also uses a ton of battery. From my phone (iPhone 8) being fully charged, the battery would be drained within 2-3 hours without even using it. If you have downloaded it and your phone is slow or your wifi isn’t connecting, fully restart your phone by holding the power button and volume at the same time. This fixes it because it removes any software it has in your phone. ——-UPDATE——— If you want to have safe browsing online, use Kaspersky Safe Browser. It’s an app that will be a web browser that encrypts your web activity. It also blocks scams and hacks because it uses offical Kaspersky connection and protection. I also read online that Betternet can sell your information so even more reason to delete it. If you have betternet in any device, I want you to delete it and never touch it again. Use a trusted VPN like Norton or Mcaffee if you feel unsafe online and stay safe.

Worked for a bit. The app has no indication of have to constantly play ads to have time, it worked for a year and then all of a sudden I had to use ads? Where did that come from? I assumed when you hit ‘use with ads’ it would be the occasional add when you open the app, not and add every fifteen minutes to get more time?!

Great interface, works 90% of the time. Lots of countries to choose from. Connect to any of them with the click of a button. Sometimes it glitches and I have to switch my phone on and off again. But still the most effective VPN app I’ve found.

Doesn’t work in China and I can’t get my money back. Paid for the years subscription, only to learn after it essentially does not work from China. every server from China has terrible performance and barely holds connection for over 1 minute. Several forums have stated similar experiences. No warning anywhere, this is fraud really. I tried getting a redefine from apple and from Betternet all with no response. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY LIKE I DID

Singapore option does not have a English audio option on Netflix like I wanna watch some movies and stuff that wasn’t on my original country but I don’t got access to it either way because I only speak English every movie on Singapore just doesn’t have English options so fix this if you can and this app will sky rocket

I had download Betternet just for testing, in app detail it is said that you can use and try for 7 days free (one week) and there is not any statement that after 7 days app withdraw money from my account automatically and subscribe me without knowing me. Any app in app store work in two options, apps are free or must purchase, your app is free for 7 days trail and if anybody like after that time ,people decide buy it or not. I just use better net app for Five minutes and then uninstall it from my phone, because it didn't work in my country, i didn't register or subscribe with your app,you didn't ask me or not any notice for subscribing, i had so many download app in app store that some of them like your app have trail time and after expire trail time, that app didn't work and we have to buy the app. This is the first time i have seen one app like you subscribe me and pay money without any notice. Good connection. Has been using it for 3 months by now. Most of time it is very fast and provides stable connection. During evening it is slow.

It's the best VPN ever. I purchased a few VPN apps and this one works the best. The only thing stops me from getting premium is they don't have the data only option, so you only purchase 1G 5G that you can use within 180 days etc. The month option doesn't suit my needs.

Pretty good except when not on WIFI. Good service, decent price, nice speeds. The only issue I have is that the app occasionally blocks cellular signal. Say you are on WIFI using Betternet VPN and head to the shops, Betternet continually tries to connect via wifi and blocks all cellular data signals. I've resorted to deleting the betternet app when I leave home and reinstalling it when I get home and back to wifi signal.

Do not download. Tried for app for their free trial of the premium service. It said it would charge me after 7 days of the free trial but it took the money from my account straight away!!! What’s worst of all, I didn’t even manage to do what I was hoping to from the VPN. Guess I’m going to try contact customer support, but doubtful I would be getting a response

Terrible. You have to watch ads for only 15 minutes of connection which doesn’t even connect to half of the websites half of the time and it’s extremely slow. And every time I press to watch a ad it says there are no ads available. Overall extremely disappointing, could improve by removing ads at the bare minimum and there are so much more better free fast vpns that are ad free without subscriptions. Overall terrible experience

You don’t even need money to do this, It can be completely free if you just watch the ads! 15 minutes per ad is incredible I love what this app does if you want to pay money you can but you don’t have to if you don’t really want to. I would recommend this to anybody who wants a VPN for school! It’s free easy to access and can open up all the information and cheat sheets the school has blocked! You can also play any game you want anytime! It also protects you and apple says it hasn’t taken any data yet 👍👍

Works great. We’re on hols overseas and really wanted to catch some shows from home. Our other service wont seem to work. Found this and it works so fast! It was incredibly easy to install and it runs perfectly. Highly recommend.

It only works for the first few months. So Betternet was great while it worked. But after a few months it stopped letting me turn it on as I “didn’t have enough time” and I needed Betties to get more. You get Bettie’s by watching adds. There is not enough adds to get enough Bettie’s for time! Deleting and reinstalling doesn’t work ether. Please fix this as it is a really good service otherwise

good. That vpn might be the one and only that can work in China and hopefully won't be block since all the others has already down now

SPLENDID. I used this throughout a four week trip in Europe, to watch shameless and it works perfectly, only bad thing was once or twice netflix would detect it by by disconnecting and reconnecting to the VPN, it worked swimmingly. Works well without paying anything only few adds. Use it even now to watch american shows in australia!

VPN connectivity issue. This is a major problem and other than this there not any other problems but I still have it a 2 star since it happens a lot and is extremely annoying. Every time that I turn it off and on, it says the problem was fixed even though I know that nothing changed and it was just the programming saying it was fixed. New update. Ever since the new update, I haven’t been able to connect to it unless I put on an already working connection. When it does end up finally connecting it ends up limiting my access on google and safari, refreshing, exiting off etc I’m very upset due to this because I absolutely love this app and it has worked very well up until now 🙁🙏

It works. When I’m at school it doesn’t let you use your apps and data and stuff so with this app you can connect to the school wifi (school wifi blocks everything) but with better net you can use anything you want AND it’s free completely AND it’s not a virus or anything don’t worry

Great VPN. Betternet is very good I have used it several times now and it definitely works well. BUT app support is non existent!! I could not contact the help Centre through the app as it says the “mail” app is not on in my iPhone which it is. I then found an email address on the internet and emailed them but was told they cannot reply to my emails personally!! What??? Like the email addresss is support@betternet so why can’t you give me support. The issue I had was I though considerable enough to contact them so why not allow us to contact them?? Even try to get app support through Apple App was not successful. So would I recommend before this happened? Yes because the vpn works but would I recommend them now? Not really. They need to be more customer focused and for $20 a month I expect that. I will not be renewing my subscription.

Good but too many ads. First of all I think this app is awesome it has really smoother performance and I ever get disconnected but, and this is a big but, there are too many ads. Bad VPN. Every time I try to connect this VPN it DISCONNECTS THE WIFI THEN HAS THE AUDACITY TO TRY AND CONNECT TO THE WIFI IT DISCONNECTED FROM. I wish VPN quality’s were better, Don’t download it ur better off downloading ANY OTHER vpn

Good overall - with minor bugs. One of the best VPNs for a mobile device I've ever used. Pretty consistant connection once connected, although sometimes it does have a hard time connecting. I'm mostly annoyed by there being always a notice of "convert to Free Time!..." with no way of clicking out of that while I'm already a monthly subscriber. When this happens I always have to tap the connect button a few times to get my subscription icon (with the little crown) back.

Amazing. Hear me out on this, but I only saw this app on a generator thingy on the internet. So in my head I was thinking, “Hey, this might actually be a good thing towards anti-virus protection on my phone.” I then later on found out that my school had taken down their WiFi connector, so our internet turned slow. So I tried to use the VPN on the school’s internet myself and let me tell you, I wasn’t disappointed in it. Immediately, I started to have better connection in all of my classes. Thanks to Batternet, I can finally finish my online work without any buffer. THANK YOU! (I’m also not going to tell anybody at school about this) LOL

Really good free VPN. I’ve been using this VPN (free version) for about a year now, and it seems to work fairly well. The ads are reasonable, usually a 5-second ad or something you can skip quickly, and the only times I have connection issues are in places where the cell signal and WiFi is bad, but that’s to be expected. You get 15 hours of connected time per month, which for me is enough. Do yourself a favor; give this a download and try it out.

Pretty good. If you hate minor inconveniences then this is the right app as even though it might not stop every ad it’s still pretty good as I don’t get sent to random sites anymore and at most I only have to close 1-2 ads but you can probably just use an ad blocker for that. Tho it might seem pretty expensive to buy the ultimate feeling of not having to deal with minor inconveniences is great has you get to watch,read,play without being annoyed by getting sent to another random site

From Hero To Zero. Originally it worked great and would offer 15 hours a day of use which I wouldn’t even use and it would last for weeks. Sometimes I would have to watch ads, which for 15 hours of free vpn I did not mind at all. However now every time I open the app it says I have no free time and when I try to watch ads it only offers 15 minutes of free time per add. However it doesn’t even give me the time after watching several ads in a row. I also will try to watch ads at work, but the option is greyed out and won’t let me. Don’t know why they changed it, but the fact I can’t even use it at home anymore has ruined it for me.

9/10. I get a great connection almost ever time. Even when the connection is bad you can always reconnect, the only issue is that is doesn’t hide you so well. I did a check on this website that shows you how much information they can track just with your internet connection and I checked it with the vpn. The only thing that the vpn did was change my location to los angles which I guess makes me feel a little safe, but I do wish other thing were hidden. However this app still does its job pretty well :)

Subscription???. Uh, didn’t this use to be free with ads? Bring that back, or at least send an email to your users to let them know it’s changing and why. I used this app for years, and have gladly watched ads to get around blocks at school. I’m disappointed to delete it due to a 13$ monthly subscription fee. I typically use it once or twice a week, so 13$ is a ridiculous amount of money to be spending when I can use another app for free. It’s always sad to see a company make a decision like this. Download this app!. Sometimes this app pisses me off when it won’t load anything on my phone liek why is it even downloaded - most of the time I really love using this app because it allows me to use the internet in places that block certain things on the WiFi !! My Review. When the app actually works it works great, sometimes it disconnects while im in an app but it usually reconnects. The wait time for it to connect has increased in the past year. I have this glitch every once in awhile where I turn off my phone to go to sleep and it says I have no free time left even though I had like 12 hours left the night before. Its really frustrating and I would like those 12 hours left because I mainly use it for snapchat which is how Im able to connect with my friends.

Great Free Service - Not the Best Premium. Just a warning to people looking to use the free trial - after a few errors signing up for the free trial I was charged for a full month of premium subscription. I will update if this error can be resolved with a refund, otherwise the premium services were quite disappointing and I’d never pay their price for the month when things like TunnelBear and NordVPN exist. Please avoid the premium subscription and stick to the free option, or use a different paid option. Edit: Everything was resolved, thank you customer support! Updated the rating and title! Edit again: things have slowed wayyyyyyy down lately on the free end! Not sure what the problem is but most of the time it simply doesn’t work. Lowering the rating for now.

I would never trust a free vpn. A vpn sends information to a private network to mask your ip and encrypt your data. This means that whatever you look at, they can look at too. You should always trust your vpn. I’ve seen countless reviews about this app where people are unable to cancel payment once they’ve bought premium, there’s many sketchy adds online that lead to this vpn, and it’s stationed in Canada. This means that under the 15 eyes agreement, the government can still see what you are doing on your phone. If you don’t want this company to possibly steal passwords, credit cards, or monitor every little thing you do while connected to the internet, then don’t buy this “free” app. I would recommend paying for a well known app if you truly need one.

suuper annoying. i only downloaded this VPN thing so i could watch twilight on netflix since it isn’t on american netflix, but every single time i disconnect from the VPN (like to use COD mobile since the game doesn’t work when the VPN is connected

Ugh. So when I down loaded this VPN it worked like a charm but after 2 days my cellular data wouldn’t work ((I had tried with and with out the VPN)). So I consulted my network provider and Apple about this and they said the phone would be fine after that the next morning my phone read “INVALID SIM”. So I took my phone in and my SIM card was fine, but I deleted some apps that I though had virus’s inside of them but immediately after deleting the VPN my cellular data started working. But, I wasn’t going to stop there because I wanted to test my hypothesis. My first action was to re-download the app and test if my cellular data was working, low and behold it wasn’t working. I repeated this process multiple times and still the same outcome but when the VPN was connected to the WiFi it was very good.

GREAT VPN APP!!. Overall this app does provide a vpn service which works most of the time. I am currently in a rural part of China so I understand the service may not be as reliable. Upgrading to premium immediately showed improvements in connection stability and access to different regions to access new content while surfing the web or streaming. Do not regret the purchase but hope they will continue to improve connections with mobile devices, when I return home I would to like to try their desktop versions for my pc.

Works great on WiFi, data drain on cellular. The vpn works great on WiFi, but it was a data drain when it was running over cellular. I turned off the permission for it to use cellar data, but it won’t automatically shut off when I’m using cellular data. I have to manually shut it down, because my navigation maps won’t work, and then I have to go and manually turn it back on when I’m back in a WiFi area. I like the app, but wish it didn’t drain data or that it would auto shut down in cellular and auto turn on when in WiFi. It used to do that, but for some reason it won’t do it now. I may have to try a different vpn.

Ads. Can’t we bring back the watch ads for VPN time since when I’m using the vpn and go on to another app or website the advertisement will pop up and the vpn won’t run so I have to stop what I’m doing or working on to close the ads and restarting the vpn can sometimes take a while so while I wait there’s more ads that take it’s place and reset the whole thing I miss the older version which I just watch a bunch of ads and have like a few hours of VPN time.

Betternet vpn. I’ve had such great luck using betternet vpn and it is so cheap for the premium. You will not find a cheaper premium vpn anywhere else and I love how secure it makes my phone and that it not only works for when your connected to WiFi but it also secures your data connection as well. Really love the way it works and also appreciate the fact if the creator of the vpn could contact me in anyway possible to see about possibly testing new programs I would love to do that. Broke. To be 100% honest I love this app and I use it a lot during the school year, but recently it hasn’t been working, it started when I accidentally turned it on with no internet connection and it got all red and said not internet connection which then I turned it off and left the app. When I did have internet and turned it on it wouldn’t connect and turn blue like usual, it showed me the add and then didn’t turn on, so I deleted the app then redownloded it it worked like normal until I did the same thing and now it won’t work. That is my only problem and besides that it’s a great app!

It’s great but.... It’s great but it really needs a lot of work. when it comes to connection i usually turn it off due to how bad your Internet is when you have it on but it is definitely good when it comes to being a VPN. it definitely does work it’s not a scam and I’ll tell you that much because I helped a lot of people when it comes to this kind of stuff and I can tell you it’s real but when it comes to loading a page it’s like Internet from a store what you should never use because someone could get your info if you do that anyway definitely need to work but good.

Unstable.... I am travelling in China, have to subscribe VPN to get access to my study material and other useful information in the U.S.. Betternet is the first VPN that I used. For the first 7 days of trial, it worked fine. I didn't discover any problem in connecting. After one month using, unstable connection appeared. I had to try more than five times before getting a protocol, most time it was even more trials. It always showed me, "I've found a better protocol, let me try", then nothing happened, no connection at all. It was not about the Internet service. I have stayed in two different cities, same situation. Even though I got a connection, the speed is very slow. I couldn't even watch a short video without several buffers. I have to unsubscribe and find another VPN app so that I can keep working on my study.

What’s going on???. I downloaded better net and I tried to deny the premium but it instantly signed me up for it and is charging me even after I deleted the app, I don’t want to pay for it I just wanted to have better internet. I can’t figure out how to un subscribe either, I don’t know what to do. I do want to say thank you for responding to my post.. I will say better net is a good app and I recommend using it. I was just a bit stressed out because it was making me pay for something because my phone must have glitched our or something. Besides the fiasco with the subscription this app is really good.

Extremely slow. I like to test out a product before I put money into it, but it seems this will not be the case with Betternet. After I activated the VPN, any internet connectivity I had seemed to instantly vanish. Though I was connected to strong WiFi, I might as well of not been considering the connection speed. The only remedy to this problem was to eventually turn off the VPN. I understand VPNs slow down the free experience to prompt people to buy the full paid experience, but how am I to judge whether to pay for a VPN service if the free version of it makes me feel like I have a brick with a WiFi connection? I’m sure Betternet is a great VPN service, I’ve heard many reviews speak very highly of it, but the product just didn’t sell its potential to me.

Decent VPN. Gets the job done. Annoying to use.. Betternet is a VPN I would HIGHLY recommend using than other other VPN’s. Betternet is free to use and grants you 15 hours each month which is more than needed if you need to browse blocked sites on school WiFi or if you are going on possibly dangerous sites. Betternet is overall a great VPN but it is so annoying to enable. After setting it up, every time you open the app, it’s gonna ask you to enable notifications. Even though I do not want to, it will keep bugging you every time. And sometimes, when you turn your phone off and turn it on, it will be disconnected and it will reconnect later. Now the final, most annoying problem which is understandable, is the ads. You will have to watch an ad to either turn on the VPN, or turn off the VPN. These ads are so long and also are so obnoxious. I’m sick and tired of seeing the breaking bad bit life ad. Other than that, great VPN, free, easy to use.

Great app but not good for free users. This app is perfect for those couple times I need a VPN to pass by network settings. The only issues is the 15-hr a month system. If you’re a free user, you get 15 hours of connected time a month. Once that’s up, the app is useless until the first of the next month. However, during October, my timer hit zero without me using it at all and I wasn’t able to use it for the rest of the month. This month, I have used it and today the timer reset to zero. There are clearly some issues, but the biggest one is the timer and not to mention free users can’t even contact their support. You have to have premium to be in contact with them.

Betternet has a great feel to use system!. It’s great because while it does push for the paid version which if I had more money I would use, it does so in a way that isn’t extremely pushy. When it shows you advertisements it’s after you have used it not during. It seems to only ask for money so that it can continue running not to make money. And even with the free version it does everything I need it to do perfectly. All around best free version of any app that I have used so far.

Ads!!!!!. The vpn always connects fine with little issues but jesus christs the ads are endless. You get an add when opening the app, and ad when trying to connect. Then when youre done another ad when opening the app again, and another ad when disconnecting, so in one cycle of use you’re already hit with FOUR ads back to back! Not to mention the ads from the app ITSELF telling you to pay a bogus price just to get rid of the ads. Im not paying a huge subscription just for my screen not to be completely filled every 30 seconds.

Don’t bother. Living where I live, you have to use a VPN for everything. And this has to be, hands down, the worst possible VPN I’ve ever used. Constantly disconnects, makes me do all kinds of dances to even get it to connect, and lately I’ve been having to uninstall and redownload it just to connect at all. And then when you do connect, it is sower than Christmas. What are the developers even doing with their time? And the canned respond from the company on every review just makes me even sicker. “We apologize for our app eating dicks. Please use our terrible app to contact us about how terrible our app is, assuming the terrible app will work long enough for you to do so, which luckily, we have programmed it not to.” Joke city, folks. You can do better with a stick and some string.

Was Nice Until Paid Sub Is Forced. This app was great in the beginning when you had two options, watch ads to use the vpn or buy a subscription & you don’t have to worry about the ads. Now it’s forcing you to buy a subscription or earn “free time” in which you still have to watch ads. And the free time is 15 hrs in the beginning but after that, you get so little through you having to earn it. So instead of keeping the simple route, they’re now trying to do everything they can to push you into buying the subscription. Gonna find another app. 👋🏾

Really great VPN. My wifi at my job blocks off a lot of stuff but this VPN really comes in clutch, allowing me to visit any website or social media platform that I want. Im at work pretty much all the time so the subscription is honestly worth it because my data doesn't work too good in the building I work in. I like how it doesn't flicker on & off like some other VPNs ive had before, back when I had to use them in high school. I highly recommend this VPN & the subscription if you’re in the same situation as me, in the same place A LOT with a limited wifi connection.

Overall a good choice. Betternet is very dependable, although it takes quite a few tries to connect sometimes, even when my service is at three bars. I know that can't be helped, but it's something to consider when choosing a good VPN. However, I prefer Betternet over all the other VPNs I've used. It doesn't compare to SSH, but it's definitely the best VPN you're going to find. Plus it's got a cute madcot. I'd give it five stars if it cut back on the "Go Premium" ad. I'm fine with ads, but it's frustrating when you have to close out of the same ad 3+ times to get to the actual app.

I used to be a fan. I used to like this vpn and use it everyday because it was the only thing that worked for my school wifi. However, it became a pest because i would turn it off and then when I get home to normal wifi for some reason nothing would load. Then I look and the VPN is on and when I turn it off, things work. It always turns back on even after j turn it on and runs all day then when I actually need it in the morning it says I ran out of bittys. It’s extremely annoying so as a result I deleted it.

Terrible connection/Zero Support. DELETING - Even tho free, I have the worst connection possible. Was unaware that when it didn’t connect to the internet but still showed it was connected as VPN, I had to manually disconnect and re-connect for my internet to begin working again... To my surprise, it was an advertisement video that was holding everything up. Now that I keep getting the “Something went wrong” message, I sent a request for information via the app’s question mark. Immediately, I got 3 emails telling me this was only available for the paying service. There is something fundamentally wrong with this app & the developer. You can’t even ask a question unless you’re a premium subscriber

THEY WILL CHARGE YOU. charged me when I canceled my free trial the day it started the following day I get charged for the month even though it was a week free trial? They hope it goes unnoticed on some folks accounts so they can stack up their subscribed user % even if they refund their investors will see an increase and not the real reason why they have charged subs. I charged back thru apple and bank. Horrible scamming system set up by this app. What’s worse is that every dollar counts atm with my current financial situation and these a holes want to scam subscriptions thru Apple billing randomly. It even asks me to “subscribe” before my free trial ends yet they charged me for a full month. Horrible. It’s what happens when it’s an Iranian data dump

If left on while leaving WiFi, will mess up your data and make you unable to stop it. It’s a lot better then about a year ago, when it wouldn’t even work; but I use it while In wifi, leave the wifi zone, and have data on, it’ll keep trying to connect to your data and while doing so it’ll make it to where you don’t have data, but you can’t turn it off, if you press the turn off vpn button in settings it’ll just keep trying to connect, seconds later. It’s not a massive issue cause I fix it by using another vpn while I want it off (like Adblock or what I use, AntiRevoke)

I love this app but.... There has been some times like I’m on the bus and I will say sorry no connection and it’s post to like help and you don’t have to have Wi-Fi that’s what my friend said and she has it but it works for her and not me and I’m sort of disappointed I like it a lot yes it has helped a couple times but it hasn’t been that helpful like I would like it!!! It was alright until the update on basic version. It was an amazing VPN until they updated the basic version. When they updated the basic version, they added a time limit of your use of the VPN . Only 15 hours a month. I was very disappointed. And, it still uses you time even when you turn the phone off. I left it on overnight, assuming it would push your time , but in the morning, I checked it and it counted the time even when the phone was off. So annoyed. I deleted the app because I could t use it for work or school. Comes to find out that when I deleted it, my WiFi improved. They just want you to pay them, but don’t . Get a different VPN

Initial Difficulties But Resolved. I had downloaded Betternet onto my iPhone and during the initial connection attempts everything failed over and over. I could not obtain a connection. Got onto the help and they referenced that my ISP may be blocking VPN access. I disconnected from my home wifi to use my mobile data plan instead. VPN connection was immediate and very quick. So my take away here is it will work great away from home over my data plan but not at home. I'll head off to a coffee shop and try using Betternet with their wifi next.

Using a 7-day free trial. So far so good. Easy to use and pretty straight forward. I usually use this app to sign into my other apps. Luckily this app is pretty straight forward and not too expensive. This app was actually recommended to me by a friend who’s a software engineer. I think that says a lot about the app it’s self. Other than the smoothness and different types or connections. I think it has an original take. I think my only con is that some sites take longer to load but that’s a given with any vpn.

Does this really work?. Discovered the “kill switch” option which shuts off your internet access until the connection to the VPN server is restored if you do drop a connection. You have to manually turn it on and when you do, you get permanent no connection regardless of what server you’re connecting to, including optimal. I wonder if there is a connection between this and the issue involving after 10 minutes of using the VPN, if you return to the app, it’ll show that it is reconnecting without telling you how long the connection has been dropped for. I have the subscription service so the paywall does not seem to give you any advantages.

Practically Forces You to Switch to Premium. Since I work as a cleaner at an elementary school, this app absolutely came in handy when I was trying to get past the wifi blocks. Plus, this was the best way to do it without worrying about giving your device a virus. However, Betternet Free has fallen victim to what I call "Premium Syndrome," where a website or program works at a lower quality and practically forces you to upgrade to the premium version. Since the wifi connections haven't been as strong as it used to be and I can easily use another VPN app like Opera to get past my work's wifi block. It does, however , seem to work fine in public areas, so if you REALLY want to use Betternet it should be fine. Just keep the premium syndrome under consideration

Pretty good but needs some work. One of my good friends suggested Betternet to because of my offices poor WIFI so at first I was a bit skeptical on how well it works. It took me just a few seconds to get the hang of how to use the app but once I did I loved using it. It made using WIFI better and faster. But while it is good I’m some cases, it can sometimes make no difference what do ever on the web. Also I don’t know it this is the app or just my phone but my apps take forever to install when I am connected or they just stop downloading right after they begin. Besides that Betternet is defiantly a good app for anyone who needs to get better internet.

Got me through high school. Every other app makes my phone glitch, this one works well and is easy to use. It redirects to all the places in your settings you need to go automatically and tells you what to do to get set up. Premium is worth it if you are in school and never have work to do, but also have terrible service and need to use the wifi. This app is the only vpn I will use and feel safe using. This app got me through every year of high school and continues to help me 3 years later

Saved my life. Minding my own business then I receive a message she was just trynna act normal we started talking for a bit then she told me personal information how I looked like where do I live so I just started lying to her cause why would she ask that she’s not even my age she started sending me links to click it she wouldn’t stop bothering me l so I clicked it and signed it in turns out she was trynna get my location and started telling me why was I using a vpn then I blocked her and deleted everything this is also is free and it works Very well

A good app but not as good as SetupVPN. Seeing as my go to VPN service, SetupVPN isn’t on the App Store, this is my next option seeing as I’ve used it on laptops before and enjoyed it then. Betternet has its kinks but overall it’s a good VPN service. There’s only two problems I’ve seen. One is sometimes it’ll just fail to connect to a server, but I’ve fixed that by restarting my phone. And another is the 15hrs/mo traffic limit. It’s fairly annoying and I still don’t have any idea why the devs implemented it. I remember on older versions it didn’t have the traffic limit, so I’m wondering what prompted the change. TL:DR-I like the app, but I prefer SetupVPN over Betternet

So far the best VPN I've tried. This one is really reliable. Easy to use, easy to connect, internet connection is pretty fast most of the time, and stable. I've tried other ones, either they are hard to actually establish a connection, or drops off a lot or takes very long to load content. So far this one can help me get a stable connection most of the time. Only some of the vpn terminals are better than others, some can get a connection but bad internet.

Not able to unsubscribe and not working at all. I paid for my first monthly subscription because I thought this would work. Sadly it does not and I didn’t look back at this app. I was not informed that this would renew automatically and was charged for another two months even though I never used it. I tried to unsubscribe but it kept asking me to send an email to their mail box. There is no other contact information. THE Funny thing is, before you send an email you will see a notification that asks you to set up an email which every user should have already done. Every time I clicked on OK there is NOTHING that pops up which I thought there should be. So I never got to contact them. Are you guys just gonna keep charging me because I cannot find you? I want my money baaaaaaack😡😡😡😡😡😡

A complete joke of a VPN app.. As the only VPN app that worked for me initially, I enjoyed this app greatly. Random pop-up ads, albeit sometimes frustrating, were a fair trade off to get full access to everything on my phone while at school for free. On my iPad, you need 'betties' to get free time, and though it put me off at first, a 'monthly' gift was given to me daily. Recently, however, it's no longer been working on my phone. At all. Nothing is unblocked, all that changes is slower wifi and pop-up ads that often don't even show up and just make it impossible to use my screen. It works on my iPad still, but I no longer get betties every day. Extremely disappointing.

It works. It works fairly well, but you don’t really need it unless you’re on unsecured wifi. Because that’s what this is for. It keeps you safe on unsecured wifi. But a thing about it is that it has this delayed time to connect. What it does is when you’re connecting it takes away you’re wifi on yout phone and focuses all on connected, I guess it’s fine but sometimes it take 5+ minutes in order to connect. And when it says that you can get away with using school wifi, that’s a complete lie, the school can still kick you off their network. Unless you’re using a school issued device, then it should work.

Steady and reliable. Betternet is in constant battle with the government of the country where I live. But because there are so many countries to choose to connect through, the government is never quite able to shut them down (although every couple month you must start relying on different connections). Once connected, you are not dropped. The connection remains steady and effective the entire time you are online. Betternet is the only VPN I have used where this is the case.
