How can you enjoy an app when its main function doesn’t work?. PhiloEdu works perfectly fine on nearly every other platform it is offered on. This app, however, is absolutely awful. Load times are ridiculous, both in opening the app itself and in attempting to stream anything you want to watch. How can you even ask someone to give your product anything more than 1 star when the apps functionality is fatally flawed? Listen to your consumers!

Not supported on iOS 14. App crashes every time you try to watch something if you have iOS 14.

Terrible. Can’t use on Apple TV at all and it makes everything frustrating.

Needs a batch delete function. I use this through my university, it’s a great service. But there should be a batch delete function, if we want to select multiple episodes or shows to delete at once. I have 192 recordings, for example, and want it to clean it up without going through each one

Crashed when I try to watch something. App opens, lets me look at options, but crashes when i tap on something to watch.

Great for college students! Make an Apple TV App.. For the most part, this service is awesome. Occasionally there are some glitches, but overall it as an awesome commodity that schools provide for their students. The app works super well on iPad and iPhone. Although you can AirPlay to an Apple TV, it would be much easier if there were an app you could download onto your AppleTV instead. A must have app if you’re at a participating college.

FIX THIS BROKEN APP. Just some helpful information, Bluetooth headphones ARE NOT AIRPLAY, so don’t cut off my content, get better app developers because this is one of the worst apps I have ever used it hardly ever works. Half of the time it says I’m not on the university internet when I clearly am. I beg of you fix this trash app ASAP.

Can't connect. Even while connected to my universities main wireless, this app says I am not. The web based Philo works by using a students university log in info, and I think the app should do the same. Until this is fixed, this app has no use.

Doesn't work. Simply doesn't work. I tried watching a tv show on it and it keeps glitching, the audio isn't in sync, and it jumps over minute long portions of videos. Completely useless.

Crash. Ever since I updated my iPhone and iOS 14 it crashes whenever I click to watch the channel.

Useless. Can't even watch anything. It just says playback error.

Unbelievable!. This app doesn’t let me login to watch the trial. The iPhone app won’t. The Roku channel authentication link is bogus! Most useless app ever! Thank god I didn’t enter my credit card. Developers should be ASHAMED.

Horrible!. App never can connect. Always got a sorry try again later message. Worthless! A great concept to be able to watch TV on a mobile device, but it flat out don't work at ALL!

Don’t download if you have an X. Haven’t fully used it yet but looks fairly high quality. Big issue for people with iPhone X’s though, the formatting isn’t set up correctly so the search bar and settings button are covered up and inaccessible.

iOS 14 crashes. iOS 14 is causing crashes on startup! This app is useless at the moment.

Stupid and annoying. This app freezes the screen but keeps playing. It’s so annoying. Nothing works to fix it. Stupid app. Not worth it.

Crashes anytime you try to watch anything. Tried logging out and redone loading app, but it crashes every time you try to click on something to watch, so basically the app is useless!

Great. Philo is a great service for students. It works well for me and the fact that recordings are just stored in the cloud and not on your phone is nice. You can record as much as you want or watch live tv. The app has occasional glitches. I would really love to see an Apple TV app or an Xbox app to watch it on a tv

Native AirPlay. A great app for college students to be able to watch HD TV on campus because most universities don't provide HD channels. But what about the addition of native AirPlay? Being able to lock your phone and watch at the same time would really round off the app. It's annoying to have to keep it plugged in and always on just to watch Philo on your TV.

Crashes. Crashes every time you try to watch something. I have tried multiple devices and only the non app Vernon my computer works.

Hard crashes on iOS 14.. When trying to view a video. It’s on an iPad, if that helps.

PLAYBACK ERROR. Why does it have to be like this? If I try to watch anything it just says playback error. I just want this app to do what it's supposed to.

Crashing. Keeps crashing ever since the recent update. It's now a useless app and I can't even watch in the browser now.

Unusable on iOS 14. Every time you start a stream on iOS 14 the app immediately crashes.

Garbage App. I’ll be in the middle of campus connected to the WiFi, and it doesn’t work. No matter where I am on campus, it doesn’t work. It would be nice if it worked in some of the school buildings at least, but this app doesn’t work there (much less my dorm room). And yes, my campus advertises that it has this service

Needs update. Glitch when trying to watch the beginning of a recorded show as it is still on live. If a show starts at 8 and begins recording and I sit down to begin watching at 8:15 the show stops playing and glitches.

Awful. Hardly loads, can’t move the cursor when trying to go back or jump forward during a recording, and if you exit a recording and come back into it it jumps super far ahead. If it wasn’t free through my school I wouldn’t be using this worthless app

Can’t login. It was working before but now I can’t login because it says my email doesn’t exist, but I connected with my school account on the browser. I’ve put in every possible email so I guess I just can’t watch on the phone now.

AirPlay doesn’t work properly. AirPlay stops working after device falls asleep. Tried reaching out to their support but no fix possible.

Recording is Glitched. Recorded my first episode today and tried watching it. Complete failure. The recording kept rewinding back to minutes before while the recording timer kept going. Literally watched the same clip 3 times. Didn't even get to watch the whole episode before the time taken to rewind and catch up cut into the normal episode time and the recording stopped before the episode was fully finished.

What is even the point of this app. It never plays anything,just gives playback error.

Critical bugs and issues. Cannot even open a video to watch it without it crashing. Abysmal.

Horrible. This trash can of an app hardly works. 80% of the time you experience glitches were the video freezes. And the customer support tells you well its fine on our end. WELL ITS NOT. This app is never updated and its one of the worst streaming experiences I have ever had. 0 out of 5 stars.

iOS 14 crashing. Please update so it’ll work with iOS 14

This app works great! Please update to get rid of crashes. 4 starts because App works great when on college wifi. Your Able to watch live TV. Currently the app is crashing continuously. My guess is because there is no update to include iOS 14 that just came out. Please update soon.

This app is absolute garbage. I use Philo through my university, and it seems like every time I open the app I am harangued with a slew of bugs that prevent me from watching what I want. It constantly crashes and loads incredibly slow. It will oftentimes prevent playback, telling me that I’m accessing it from an “unsupported location” when I’m literally on my university’s WiFi. It will prevent playback because “airplay is not supported” when I am absolutely not using airplay at all. This app frustrates me to no end, more so given the knowledge that my university probably pays thousands upon thousands of dollars for this service that rarely if ever works. I have never written an app review in my life, but right now I’m missing the quarterfinal of the women’s World Cup because of this garbage app, so I thought I may as well vent how fed up I am with it. Just make it work.

Worst App Ever. I have no idea why my university uses this service, everything buffers, you can’t do playback because every time you try you get that “playback error” message, I’ll simply be watching something I recorded for later and it’ll automatically restart the entire movie or episode without a fault, EVERY SINGLE TIME. Doesn’t matter what tv show, movie, or channel this app is just plain awful. Will be recommending this app be replaced with something better.

Complete Trash. The website redirects you to the app when your on mobile, which means you can’t watch Philo on your phone, because 9 times out of 10, Philo says your education account doesn’t exist

Complete garbage!!. Honestly i wish i could rate this 0 stars. I literally can’t watch ANYTHING!! It keeps saying “playback error” even though my university’s wifi is perfectly fine. I’ve tried like every channel, this app is so stupid

ios 14. Hi there! Used to use this app all the time but now it crashes every time i try to watch something on iOS 14. Hope this gets fixed soon.

Doesnt play anything.. Would be awesome, but 90% of the time it says there is a "playback error". I can never watch anything with it!

GARBAGE. This app never works. Not on my iPhone or iPad. It never gets to the loading screen even. I have full WiFi in my dorm hall because I’m able to watch Netflix on all my devices. But whenever I try to give this dumb thing a try it doesn’t even load. I haven’t even been able to see what is on TV. I’ve had this in our building for 8 weeks and I’ve never been more disappointed with something at my College. 0/10. Never get this. Philo Edu should be illegal. I hate it with a passion. If zero stars was possible then I would give it that.

Randomly logged me out. This app randomly logged me out and the refused to let me log back in with my information. I had to delete it and re download. It constantly crashes every five seconds. Seriously who designed this app?

Really good app. I'm genuinely surprised at the low rating on this app. The interface is pretty clean and the quality is significantly better than the school cable. I've yet to have a real problem with the Philo app.

Poor. No native airplay No picture to picture Playback hardly functions when recording Oh wait the app really hasn’t been updated in years.

Worst app I've ever had the displeasure of using. I have this app on my phone because this is how my school provides cable for the on campus residents. The app is always having issues and really takes away from the show I'm watching. When a show is being recorded, the app will only let you watch what is happening right now. You cannot start from the beginning until the show you want to watch is done recording. Philo, please fix this garbage app for your garbage tv service. 👎👎

Honestly pretty bad. Although the app works (mostly) it’s not a good experience. No iPhone X support even though their other philo app does. App honestly looks like it came from iOS 5 and somehow is still supported. Developers needa quit playing games with this and just fix it already it was this bad when I STARTED university almost 4 years ago😂 and I’m about to graduate and it’s STILL as bad

Doesn't work. Can't even login

The app is just as bad as the website. So this is how the University of Washington provides tv service to students on campus. The Philo service is horrible, I am fairly sure they are just live streaming the tv service from another television provider. There have been times when I have tried watching a show from my phone and in the middle of watching the show a channel guide for what looks like DirecTv appears and there is literally somebody else flipping through the channel guide on my screen while I am trying to watch a football game. The quality is terrible, normal channels that would be in HD are very blurry in low quality. The aspect ratio for shows is incorrect and you have to double tap to zoom in on some shows which only magnified the already poor quality. Then there is the delay problem. Often times if I am watching a critical sports match I have to go turn off my notifications because the show on philo is easily delayed by 45 seconds and I will get scoring notifications well before they appear on screen. Ruining the anticipation of watching a live game. The connection is also pretty bad. At school we have 200mbps download speeds and yet the philo service constantly stutters while playing shows live. You often have to watch the show at even more of a delay than there already was. The interface is nonintuitive and it often freezes. Honestly I can't believe that this is the service that schools use to provide tv service to students. There's really nothing good I can say about it other than at least it's a free app after you have paid for your tuition... at least there's some way to watch shows, but Philo is a poor option.

Add HD please. Please add a HD option. We'd all love it.

Constant Playback Error. I downloaded the app hoping it'd work better the website version - the website was already proving to be difficult and slow. The app for the iPhone is worse. I get constant Playback Error, asking me to visit the FAQ. I go to the FAQ and there is nothing that addresses the issue of frequent failed playbacks. I would be watching the recorded show and suddenly "We are unable to load/The playback has failed, Please visit the FAQ". This is just way too much of a hassle, I don't understand why my university decided to switch to Philo, even Hulu is more efficient. This being said, I will probably end up purchasing and accessing my television provider from home than having to use Philo.

Can't Log In. I can't log in with my school's code but when I try online I can easily log in. It wants me to put in an email but with my school I only have a user name. The email doesn't register.

Missing Icon on Home Screen. Can't uninstall it.

This could be so much more.... I’m relatively disappointed. Yes you can watch shows just about whenever. But it really needs a feature that shows you newest episodes or episodes in the current season of whatever you would like to watch because otherwise you going to need to use google to scroll through to find an episode that may or may not be there, and since this app auto refreshes you in a different place in the listings after leaving and reentering, it will not be an easy feat. Maybe a feature that tells you if something is a movie or if something is a regular episode for easier navigation. Also this part bugs me to no end is that none of the ghost shows appear when everything else appears to be on there even shows that don’t consistently run. But why can’t we get Ghost Hunters or Ghost Adventures or any paranormal shows whatsoever. Also the fact you need a Roku or Firestick to even run this on your TV which means we need to leave our dorms to go buy another thing to watch cable tv on tv. I love the fact we can watch on tablets laptops or whatever else. But really? We didn’t even get a proper notification like a piece of paper in our dorm. I heard about an email but never received one, but since it’s the beginning of a semester we already have a bunch of email clog from professors and assignment notifications, not even a piece of paper saying “we have a tv app”! And don’t even get me started on the fact not every show you list for recording doesn’t show up. That’s the worst part. You can’t even keep track of it because for some reason the app doesn’t want to show you everything you listed. Horrible! And no Paranormal shows!
