Patreon Comments & Reviews 2026
Mixed bag. I would really love to give 5 stars, as I really like Patreon and think it’s one of the better ways of supporting creators. But unfortunately the app for me is very buggy. I use on both iPad and iPhone and whenever I switch between the devices I get far too many “Oops … “ message errors, requiring me to hard quit the app and restart. I’ve tried reinstalling, clearing data cache, but still get the errors a lot. The other main frustration for me is the very limited filtering and sorting available for content. Some of the creators I subscribed to have thousands of posts across multiple collections, yet the sorts only apply to posts not collections, and user selections for sorts and filters are not persisted across sessions, so for example trying to listen to a collection from oldest to newest is very difficult to do without lots and lots of not very fast scrolling to the bottom of the collection. I still like and use the app as I want to support creators, but I really wish the app experience was better.
Needs Work-IMAGES ARE NOT BLURRY ENOUGH. I am a creator who recently opened an account and thought the mobile should be just as functional but I was so wrong. Most of the features are halfway there or absolutely gone entirely. There is no way to fix or adjust my tiers. No option to change or edit my payout options and any posts I make disappear on the “post” page. And speaking of posts, the options are incredibly limited! You mean to tell me I CAN’T upload any videos from my mobile device, a device with a convenient camera option that almost anyone has access to? I don’t understand it. It is an incredibly clunky app and I hope that it gets fixed but judging from the other reviews, i won’t hold my breath. Edit: Now when I post my patron only posts, its public view is almost all the way visible???? All of the old pages have completely blurred out images for non-patrons and now you can practically see through my post! Outrageous, what is the point of having patrons pay for content you’re going to show them all anyway??? Why cant we CHOOSE how opaque the blurred image will be???
Functions out of whack. I don’t know why this app has such high ratings either because it’s not functional. If I’m using the app on my iPhone I can put the video in the corner of my screen and watch my podcast while using other apps all day. Sometimes I just pause it and slide the video off the screen so I don’t lose my spot but I can start it up again very quickly. On my iPad I can’t use other apps while watching my podcast. Which doesn’t make any sense seeing how that feature was made available to iPads LONG before iPhones. Also, if I’m watching a video horizontally and I decide to change my device to the vertical position the whole video closes making me re start the podcast and finding where I was cut off. And there’s no way to get around it, I have to place my iPad in the position I want to view the video in and never move it until I’m done watching. It’s tedious and it shouldn’t be, sometimes I want to enjoy the luxury of a larger screen without having to travel with my laptop but the only working application you have is for the cell phone. Get it together because that last update didn’t fix bugs.
Patreon for chronic pain patients is a must. Here you will find through The Doctor Patient Forum with Claudia, Mirandi and Beverly, so many tools. As chronic pain patients, we all have limitations. But they help us use what we are able to. I trust them with my life. I know we are very limited and our money. But if you can just give a little and if you can’t, you can still participate. Highly highly recommend getting involved with this group and Don’t Punish Pain and the national Pain council. I will share with you resources that you must have. There is a gentleman who was a doctor and he knows so much technology and what the DEA is doing illegally and unethically. I will be providing you with this information. Be patient with me because I’m still trying to figure out my way around. I’m a former nurse practitioner. I research every day to try to help us. May God bless us and let’s all work together get over our differences and come together.
Great intention but missing some features, also BUGS. I love the idea behind this app! Especially with other platforms constantly changing their monetization guidelines it’s nice to know there is a platform in which I can directly support creators I love. However, there are some issues that make this app much not so great on mobile devices. For one, after I created my profile there’s no way to go edit my profile on the app itself (can’t even add a profile picture, like what??). I would have to get on my computer or go through a web browser to do so. Another issue I’ve run into is the interactive capabilities (liking, posting comments, direct messaging) will randomly stop working and will force you to log out and then back in in order to fix the issue. I cannot speak to the experience as a creator so I am unaware of any issues or awesome features on that side of the app. Overall a pretty good app with some flaws from time to time, but still awesome knowing I can make direct contributions to my favorite creators.
Great Service. As a subscriber, I really enjoy the app and having all my subscriptions at my fingertips. I love Patreon as a whole because I am able to support different creators each month and canceling is easy. I do wish all creators charged at the same time, instead of either being immediate or the 1st of every month. Also, it can get confusing if the charge counts for the previous months rewards, but from my experience, most creators make this clear on their social media. My only complaint is when a patreon creator decides to close completely, their profile stays in the section for active subscriptions. Anyone that was a member when the patreon was closed forever sees that profile as part of their current subscriptions. I really wish this would be fixed, it occurs on app and web and it quite annoying when you want a quick glance at your current subscriptions.
Subpar. The app sometimes doesn’t display all the content from creators. I follow a certain creator who posts a weekly schedule so followers know what to expect and when. Sometimes, it will look like the creator didn’t post anything on a day the creator said they would, however, the truth simply is the app is not displaying all the content. If I switch over to safari and pull up patreon, the video is, in fact, there. It just won’t show up on the app. And, just for the sake of clarity, I do not follow NSFW content crerators so this issue isn’t about filtering or censoring adult content. It’s just that the app is broken. I’ve had this issue since I installed the app last year, but it just seems to be getting worse with time. Sometimes I’ll be able to watch a video from the content creator on the app and then I will come back to the app days later and I can no longer find the video. It is as though the video never existed. I go to safari and it’s still there.
Just like the site...confusing. I’m not sure who designs there apps or webpages but None of it is intuitive. This app doesn’t allow you to just see one creators page. Or does it? Hard to tell since it’s not in your face and apparent. Even on their site I find myself clicking needlessly to go where I need to go. Just the other day I realized the Patreon symbol in the top left hand corner was a link to the home page. It’s silly. use words and stop making everything a “discovery”. I don’t have time to be wasting memorizing what clicking certain symbols do on a website. I swear I used to be able to see how many people are donating to someone I back. I have no idea how to do that now. Why do some modern websites insist on being edgy and making you work to get content. Simple and straightforward is all you need. Their app and website creators need a lesson in empathy. And whoever approves this needs to learn what it’s customers want. It really makes me want to use a different platform.
My appreciation is through the roof. When my parents were alive, I tried so hard to help them stretch their meager retirement funds through investments. I subscribed to many newsletters and even paid over $7000 to become a member of an investment newsletter club only to be pointed in 100 different contradictory directions. I was turned onto great hope but was stuck in dead end investments. They never had the experience of getting ahead and lived off of the pension my dad had and social security. I have derived more benefit and learned more through Patreon than any other source of information I’ve ever applied myself to. Words can’t express how thankful I am to the Patron team and to James for helping my wife and me to finally understand the right way to view the markets. We both have benefited in our accounts and have a way to map out a financial plan that’s based on numbers not stories. All this time I thought that I was stupid or had bad instincts but I didn’t have the tools or the perspective necessary to succeed. I literally can’t thank you enough for sharing this life changing information at the price of charity. James, my wife and I watch your tireless efforts in helping others and only hope that you are finding fulfillment and work life balance. Than you and your team for spending yourselves to change the lives of so many like us.
Why is this app rated so highly? Use the website.... I seriously don’t understand why this app is rated so highly. It’s pretty terrible from both a usability aspect as well design and maybe even coding. It never correctly shows you how many creators/artists you’re supporting. It’s high near impossible to change your tier level or cancel. It’s very confusing. There are parts of the app that clearly kick you out the website, which is fine, but sometimes you’re literally entering in the same information in the app just to be sent to a webpage with blanks! Looking for someone in particular? Good luck with that, since the search function isn’t good at finding people. One of the nice things about the app, is that you can actually download certain files. They remain inside the app to prevent you pirating out to the rest of the internet, which I completely understand. However, every time they change app, or change the website too I think, all your downloads disappear. Good luck finding them again! At least they’re slowly fixing app, bug by bug, to their credit. The app finally handles playing videos well. Turning your phone to horizontal and back during videos caused problems, but no longer. Still, the app is really not ready and seems like it’s stuck in beta testing. You’re better off just going to the Patreon website.
A work in progress. I love the Instigators! I love the concept of “ fan control”, which Apex Athletic Collective brings to the sport of basketball, all together. The Patreon idea is beautiful. The Patreon experience still needs a little fine tuning. Little things, like technical difficulties, still need to be improved upon. I have all the faith, that as AAC, gains more experience, issues such as our live chat, for the games, will be addressed and will quickly become a thing of the past. I see improvement every week, and, that is extremely commendable. That part of my Patreon experience, I give 100% props to the organization. I also feel certain, with the ownership involved, as completely, and directly, as they are, improvements will be seen every week. I thank Apex Athletic Collective, for being here, and bringing this concept of fan controlled interaction, to the fans. You all are the best, and I do love my Patreon. subscription.
Best podcast ever. I’ve listened to every episode from day one. This is the podcast I’ve been waiting for, as a lover of sci fi, aliens, spooky unusual things, XFiles, Fringe, and so much more. Derrick and staff do a great job of weeding through the stories to pick the most genuine sounding (hopefully true) stories. Love how each show is packed with calls. Love the banter and soothing voice of Derrick sir, and I appreciate that you don’t talk nonsense in between calls. It’s filled with data, proof or supportive evidence relating to stories, Derricks take on things, and relating discussion (in between calls). The discussion is not over kill or overwhelming like some podcasts. Then, to top it off, Derrick spoils us all with a hidden story after the end of the show! Yes Derrick! Spoil us! There is so much thought put into all the details of the shows. Thank you all for your hard work!
BEWARE APP WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY AND NOT WORK. BEWARE I paid for an annual membership and after working perfectly for a few weeks the app has locked me out giving no reason for why. I’ve been on hold with email only support for almost two weeks with no timeline on when this will be fixed. The creator has been extremely responsive but is also confused and unable to fix it on their end. I would love to rate this app higher as I want to support my favorite creators but my frustration here has reached a breaking point. As soon as I was locked out I took the only option which is to email support, it took them a week to confirm that I indeed have lost access but they were unable to fix it and have “sent my report to engineering team.” For the record the support person was very kind and polite and seemingly overworked so I don’t blame them. This seems like a larger issue with the company. Continue to use this app to support your creators but be aware they are not on top of bugs and will not help quickly if things go wrong.
Almost perfect.. I really love the app, it's a super convenient way to keep track of the artists I like and also keep updated on the content and my pledges without having to get on the computer or comb through my email, however even after having had the app for a few months, it's still kind of hair to navigate. Not impossible but I have found that some of the avenues to get to options that I thought I would find on the main page of an artist are often buried somewhere in my settings. Editing pledges is an example of this. The pages can be a tag glitchy and tend to lag depending on the content, but the scroll works well enough. There is no way to search tags other than scrolling until you find what you're looking for? Also unless you have a Patreon link or you know the specific handle of the person you're looking for, finding someone can be difficult at best.
New update is terrible. I wish I could give negative stars, but the desktop website it terrible too. The app used to be fine, even if it took too long to load sometimes, it still worked and let me see the artists I supported in an easy way, but the new update is ugly and doesn’t make any sense. Taking away the chronological feed is unhelpful at best, and actively annoying. I want to see everything from the artists I support, not just all the things from the artist who posted most recently. Also, putting notifications that tell me what’s on the feed I’m currently looking at, is so stupid and useless. I would rather push notifications actually work so I can get a notification when someone posts something new, not a retroactive notification about the thing I’m already looking at. Having me click away from my feed just to show me there’s something new on my feed is redundant in the most useless way. Put it back the way it was, because that way actually worked for both artists and patrons.
Love Supporting Content Creators, App Could Use A LOT of Work. While I love supporting content creators who use this app, it generally is a really bad app to use for cross-play, video playing on iPads, and general UI purposes. It makes no sense that with all the updates this app gets, there is no update to make sure that I can watch or listen to the same video/audio on my iPad and on my phone and it not sync up. I also can not stand the video player on iPads. There is no way to go into landscape mode to watch a video on my iPad which makes zero sense. It shows that there are no or barely any people testing the app and making sure it actually is user friendly across platforms. The video is too small when not in full screen (because again, it only works on portrait mode on the iPad). It also is now in this more complicated stack of videos and content, which I swear made the video even smaller. I love love love the content creators I follow and subscribe to on this app but the UI is truly abysmal for viewers and for the content creators who trust in this app.
Ruined with most recent update. I use Patreon to play short lessons in a foreign language, and the app worked excellently for over a year because I could go to “Played” and revisit the lessons I had already studied in a playlist. They have removed this and a number of other features, making their app far less usable than before. Now you cannot even permanently download audio files, once you play them, they leave your download file. And there’s no way to see all the audio files you have previously played for revisiting. I feel terrible because I will probably not renew my subscription to this excellent Patreon creator of no fault of their own. I can only play each new lesson chronologically in the order produced, making it impossible to revisit and zero in on specific installments to study and slowing down my language learning. Unless you want to use this app to listen to a podcast and never revisit it again, it is basically useless as an audio platform. They used to allow many more capabilities for a more customized listening and usage experience but for some reason got rid of all of that. And unless you are a creator who produces content that you never want revisited, I would suggest finding a different platform.
The Best Podcast for everyone!. Good Service Podcast ❤️ This is everything any person could want in a podcast. However what makes it the ultimate Podcast is it’s faith based! They welcome all people ! All walks of life and backgrounds!!! Just like Jesus did !! I can not stress how important welcoming one and all is! Everything they speak on is relatable! This needs more advertising! They need more help circulating their Podcast!!!! It is more then just faith it shows how to reach a community that is all welcoming this is the biggest Hype point because when people feel welcomed they listen and tend to open up! We all need each other and they show you how by faith and by strength in community all things are possible with GOD and a foundation! Love this ! Ben and Kevin are a perfect combination for Podcast and anything else because their vibe is one of acceptance and Love and don’t forget the laughs ! Love the Podcast also shout out to all behind the scenes there !!!! We thank you!
Sorting Episodes is a Pain. For someone that likes to relisten to old episodes of shows, the media player aspect of the app is severely lacking. Once an episode gets played all the way through it automatically gets archived for some reason. There’s no way to sort by “all episodes” if I want to scroll through to find a past episodes to listen to, just “up next” or “unplayed”, etc. I just want to see the whole catalog. It’s also hard to pick up where you left off in a large catalog. If I’m listening to an episode that’s 50 episodes back and I leave the app to go do something else, when I come back I have to scroll all the way back to find where I was again. The player doesn’t auto play the next episode in the queue either so if I finish and old episode and and just want to play the next one, I have to scroll all the way back down, find the one I just heard, and the select the next one manually. A lot of little inconveniences that make this app a massive pain and make me reconsider donating to campaigns if the extra content I get in return is this much of a hassle to access.
Worst interface possible. Patreon always had an amazing concept. However, they have what could possibly be the worst option for interface for an app that fulfills this purpose. There is no way to customize your feed or easily navigate content creators pages. Also, the iOS compatibility leaves me wondering if they just have the intern do all the work at the office. Never had I had a video player that was so inconvenient to use. Between the videos playing at the wrong time when I turn my phone off, or not even playing at all when I turn my phone off. Also, there is no watch history feature so I have to search through a load of videos just to get back to where I was watching, and hopefully it'll pick up exactly where it left off. This isn't rocket science but my word at least put a little effort into a Platform that these content creators rely on to make a living. Patreon would be nothing without the creators so it would make sense to create an interface that's at least usable but hey im not thinking with profit/minimal work in mind I guess. Do better
Great App, just needs fine tuning. The concept of the app is awesome. It’s a great way for people to be able to talk about things without the censorship & a way for them to make money as well. The main issue I have is you can only filter the “posts” category & that filter resets every time I close out the app. I want to be able to click on any category & set my filter from the oldest to the newest so I can listen to them in order, without having to reset the filter every single time I open the app. I also would like to be able to filter only the unplayed episodes. It would also be great if the app would remember the last episode I listened to in each category and subcategories. It is frustrating to have to scroll through all the episodes to find where I was. Making these tweaks will greatly improve the users personal experience. Thanks for what has already been done on this platform!
I can’t believe this is a legitimate app with money. This app is terrible. For context, I use it almost exclusively on an iPad. Very basic functions of other media apps are just absent from Patreon. The content doesn’t fit on the screen properly, you can’t read comments and watch/listen at the same time, the comments take forever to load and the scrolling breaks constantly, the content doesn’t save your place — god forbid you accidentally click on the comment section while watching — the video will reset to the beginning. I was shocked when the CEO fired 50% of their developers because this app seems like maybe one developer works on it part-time. I’ve been using this app for years and can’t even think of one update that’s happened that made the experience better. I have to imagine that the work being done for the other side of it, the content creators, is the priority. But the people who consume content on Patreon need to be thought about too.
Not sure why app is so limited. Downloaded this app for the first time today, and yes, I saw some of the negative reviews. I have to say I agree with most of them. I followed an organization that produces podcasts I find very rewarding and then I signed up to be a patron. The signup went through well, but every time I start the app it tells me on the feed screen that I’m not following anyone, and tells me to search for people to follow. I already did that. So I look for the app feedback (I would think this would be mandatory for Apple to even allow an app on their store) but there is no feedback function. I can only send a message to the people I’m a patron of, but even then I have to search for them. They should already be listed as I’m a patron now. Do I have to go to the Patreon website to send app feedback? Is that even available there? This makes no sense at all. This app is needlessly crippled and I don’t understand why. If they add these and other badly needed features, I will update my review and perhaps my rating as well.
The app needs work. I’ve been a patreon supporter for a comic artist, and a podcast for approximately four months now. I’m happy to be supporting these artists. However, my challenge is in the app. For the posts that are text-based it’s all intermingled and easy to lose track of a thread. That said, my biggest complaint is with the audio section of Patreon. I had downloaded ~15 episodes, so that I could easily keep track of what I hadn’t listened to yet. Having listen to about three of them, the next day, all of them were no longer download. Another problem with the audio section is, I will fully listen to episodes, but when I re-open the app some of those episodes are shown as only partially listened to. It doesn’t seem to do a very good job of tracking what I have played or have not played. And clearly I cannot download an episode indefinitely but I have no idea how long a download remains before they automatically clear it. I would like a download to remain downloaded until I choose to delete it. I would also like a fully played episode to be marked complete and archived. And finally, I would like to be able to sort within the app both the podcast episodes by title or date. And I would like to be able to sort the text posts by creator.
The VERY BEST!. Steve Shippy and his paranormal associates are the very best in the business! Every investigation is handled with the upmost respect and care for not only the owners but also the spirits. Steve Shippy and Co-investigators capture the most activity/evidence without exploiting the spirits or the ppl; which, is highly different than some of the other individuals in the paranormal industry. Haunted Saginaw and similar paranormal investigation groups need to be more celebrated and appreciated for the respect and honor they bring to an industry that sometimes can feel void of compassion and care for all parties involved. Steve and crew prove that there is no need for investigations to poke, prod, and exploit the spirits in the space to get the very best evidence that there is a realm behind the vail. To some it all up, Haunted Saginaw captures the very best evidence while using the most caring concern and compassion I have ever had the honor of watching. One last thing, Shippy and co-investigators truly care about learning and hearing every person and spirits story; which I think is truly the only way to find the answers and solutions to actually bring piece, closure, and the ability for spirits and the people to co exist in the locations.
Podcast Lovers Get This!. I absolutely love this podcast app. At the beginning I wished that it had not only showed you what episode you were currently listening to & left off from, I really wanted it to show me which episodes I had already listened to. That way in case I missed multiple episodes in a row, I would know exactly where to listen first. Lo and behold a few months later the new update came with just that!! Yay! It also gave you all your currently listening to episodes then below those you were able to see "what's next" for you to listen to in your most frequently listened to podcasts! Which this is in its very own section of the app. You of course have your home page then one other section I can't recall if it's your profile or your saved podcast list. The only thing I'd update now, is to be able to go farther back within the home section to see more of the updates but I suppose going to there actual page within the app isn't too difficult! If you're a time sucker I'd for sure give this a 3 out of 5 stars, wouldn't change a thing!! Haha ScaredToDeath TimeSuck BadMagic : get to listening you creepers!
Benefits of being a patron!. I watch most of the sailing videos on You Tube and for most part I like them all. I started thinking about all the enjoyment I was getting but was not giving back anything in return. So I started paying attention to the patrons and did a bit of research. I soon realised that I could not be a patron to each sailing group and decided that I would pick one and make a sizeable contribution each month. But how do you decide which one is best for you. My thoughts were to select a group that I felt needed me. Not a group that already had a large group of patrons and could spend their money on most anything that they wanted but I would choose a group that I felt needed my help and that I could connect to. I chose Sailing Merawether because she met the criteria that I was looking for. Two young people from two different countries coming together and enjoying each other and working together to just have fun. They had a nice boat, nothing fancy but they were able to make it work. They were aware that they had a budget and were going to live within it. They were not struggling but were frugal with what they had. Kerine seems to have a good working knowledge of the boat and he uses Isabelle in such a way that helps him and gives her the information that she needs to be a better first mate. There were their work ethics, quality of video’s and other factors I won’t go into. And not one of my requirements but Isabelle is not hard to look at. :)
Misleading. I watched a preview and at the end to gain access I had to become a member so I clicked on the link which in return brought me to the page where the only option I was given was a $5/monthly fee or $54/annual fee. I opted for the $5/monthly fee. Get everything paid for go back in to then be redirected and told to access that specific video I need to now pay another $22/month to have full access. Nowhere at all did it state anything like that when I signed up. I was give 2options $5 a month or $54 annually and that was it. It’s extremely misleading they lure you in and then expect you to pay more to watch a video. Also why send me to that page to pay that amount from the preview of that specific video if that isn’t even the cost to watch that video! and then to request a refund I have to reach out to the actual person instead of the app. So I have to cancel my membership in one place and then go to a whole other area to request a refund. I emailed them immediately after realizing all this (within minutes of joining) and it took them 2 weeks to email me back!
No Functionality. I recently signed up for a podcast on patreon. I normally listen to podcasts on stitcher as it’s a simple easy experience. But this one won’t show up for me On stitcher, so I have to go through the patreon app. Unfortunately the person I’ve subscribed to has 400 podcasts and the one I’m trying to listen to is one of the first. I can get to it by searching for it on a web browser. But when I try to play it through a web browser (on the official site!) the podcast literally stops every 30 seconds. However I also can’t get it to open in the app. I can find no search function for specific episodes in the app. No list function. No favorite function that would show me even the ones I favorite on this app. The only way I can tell to get to this podcast in this app is literally to scroll through a feed of 400 podcasts which only load 10 at a time. Am I missing something or is this seriously how this app functions? It doesn’t function at all? I can’t believe how much time I’ve already wasted just trying to get a podcast I payed for already to play. Definitely no functionality allowing me to message the creator either. I can’t believe this is supposed to be the official app of a platform supposedly about helping creators easily connect with their audiences.
Great concept, poor execution. I’m so happy to be a patron of the podcasts I love, but accessing their content is so difficult. 1. There’s no way (that I’ve been able to find) to separate feeds of the podcasts I patronize by individual podcast without going first to my membership tab. 2. Can only sort by “posts” and “audio,” no option to sort oldest to newest, newest to oldest, etc. 3. When I’m playing an episode, the progress bar in the feed does some crazy skipping around, changing the total time of the episode from 10 minutes to 25 hours to 4 hours (?!) 4. Can’t adjust time to skip ahead/go back, they’re both only 15 seconds. 5. When iPhone is locked, I’m unable to play from Lock Screen. I have to unlock phone, navigate to app, and play from there. 6. When I’m listening to an older episode and I open the app, it automatically goes to the newest posts so I have to navigate down almost every time I want to listen to the next episode in the list. 6. No option to go to next episode when on an audio post. 7. No search function on the main feed, have to browse to find what I’m looking for. I realize in the grand scheme of things these aren’t a huge deal, but this is a professional app and I expect professional quality. Certainly there are enough developers working for Patreon to fix these minor kinks and make the user experience infinitely better.
Patreon Review. I absolutely enjoy learning from you in every video. The understanding you have on everything is amazing and your delivery is excellent. You answer every question there could be. If I may add one suggestion…. When you are explaining a hand drawn schematic, please give the video a 5 second moment without hands or components blocking the full picture. This is so we can take a quick photo or even freeze it and hand copy it. You mention it’s above or below, but not on my iPhone. I don’t see any pars listing either. Maybe take 5 or ten seconds to again let your camera get a closeup of your parts listed and a closer view of your hand drawn schematic. Just a thought for those of us that can’t see screen areas. I am very near sighted so I like using my phone without glasses. I like to take notes along with redrawing the schematics by hand. Thank you so much again.
App is intentionally bad. The website service is good. The app is bad in a way meant to confuse people. On Patreon, you can subscribe to people you aren’t monetarily supporting. In the past, there used to be a separation to show you who you were giving money to and who you were simply following. This made it easy to go in and unsubscribe if you found you no longer needed or wanted to support certain creators (like modders for games you no longer play) or if your financial situation changed. Now every single page you follow is mixed with every single page you’re a member of. I wanted to check to make sure everyone I’m still a member of is who I want to still support financially now that my job has changed, and I have to go through hundreds of channels, almost all of whom I am not and have never been a member of. This sort of change is 100% intentional. You don’t go from a separated category to a shared one without malicious intent.
Always glitching or freezing, no way to search or filter content. I don’t think there’s ever been a time where I open this app and I can listen to something right away. I open it, click on the thing, nothing happens, the app freezes, I have to force close it, reopen and wait for everything to load again, and THEN I can *probably* start interacting with the content I’m paying for. It’s just so glitchy, constantly. On desktop I rarely have issues, but on the phone app I am having issues every single day. Also WHY IS THERE NO SEARCH OR LIST FUNCTION?? I subscribe to two podcasts on Patreon and the only way to find old episodes is to scroll through every single post from that creator. There are specific tags on each episode but you can’t even use those to filter out the content. It is such a pain to scroll through the feed to find something, where the app only loads 10 or so posts at a time and you have to keep waiting for more to load. It would be nice if the app just showed me a list of episodes, or if filters actually worked. Something would be better than nothing.
Patreon rocks, my world.. I love Patreon because they love their creators. That’s the bottom line. They are not perfect not perfect not perfect but they are full of love and clarity and they are doing their best to protect the future of creativity. I love Jack Conte, who is the founder. He is the real deal. I love getting to know people in this community. And I love having my members support me at Patreon. It totally fits my soul. with 400 employees now… They mean business. And Jack Conte himself never planned on being a CEO. He is a musician. He is playing the role of a CEO in order to make a difference. I am moved to my bones by what this team of people is doing. I hope that they all see this remark. And I hope they all feel lifted and honored by it. My name is Debbie Happy Cohen and my project is called Joy-Based Living. they were with me when I started back in 2016. I am a loyal super fan.

Hey guys ima get right to it this podcast has LITERALLY saved my life I was on the the edge of truly giving up and I know yall get these type of letters…emails…etc but please let me tel you this is different when I say I literally HAVE to like it’s not an option for me I HAVE to listen and talk cause I find myself tlkn back to yall at times but I’m afraid of my actions to those around me so my goal is to come to a event because honestly I NEED yall right now I have a gift but my discipline and mentality are shot…I want to remain anonymous for now because I feel too tainted to even b in y’all’s presence but I know in my heart that this is where I need to b to get my life together and I don’t wnt to die trying I wnt to die tried and true!!! From the bottom of my Heart and I truly mean these words with my soul E.T…Carl…C.J. Jamal…John all talk thank you for what yall do!!! I didn’t reread this so forgive any typos!!!
Needs to work out a few kinks. I enjoy the ability to be able to support creators directly for the content I consume however the Patreon app itself has a bit to work out. For instance it doesn’t consistently keep up with what videos/podcasts you have listened to. Sometimes there will be a green checkmark, other times there will be no indication that you’ve listened to it. In addition when you go to use another app, say you’re on Twitter and a video plays, once you’re done with whatever you were listening to on that other app Patreon won’t always still be loaded on the control center page to play from so you have to go back into the app find that specific piece of content play it AND fast forwards to wherever you were in the episode. There’s also often a long delay while it loads. Sometimes I have to close the app and reopen it just to get podcasts to play. I appreciate the purpose of the app but would like them to work on some basic errors.
Hope and Understanding. There are many ends-of-months over the past umpteen years since Rick Levine has been delivering his astrological updates that I just can’t wait to read the next one. How calming, how uplifting to know that very soon I’ll be able to sit just above all the strum und drang of these horrifying times and breathe deeply with the rhythms of the universe. Rick delivers such a gift to us, highlighting and clarifying all we need to know —offering a cosmic map of our times. How we each move forward with its guidance is our choice, but we are not alone and rudderless anymore. Rick Merlin Levine is always there to offer us a way to make some sense of the senseless, find clarity in the muck and understand a bit better how to find hope and wisdom amid that all we are moving through and sometimes stuck in. Thanks, Rick!
Videos always restart. My favorite content creator puts out videos of their podcasts, and anytime I try to watch the video but get interrupted and need to pause (which you should be allowed to do with a podcast), when I go back to it the video ALWAYS restarts. It briefly shows where I was, so it knows I was watching, and then it always jumps back to the beginning. I have learned I have to quickly memorize the timestamp when I go to start the video up again, because it never ever starts where I left off. I also just find this app unintuitive in general. I open it and it shows me random posts from the creator I subscribe to, but they’re not in chronological order. So then I click on their name to get to the feed, and it’s still only like 3-5 posts. Then I have to click AGAIN on “show all posts.” Just show me all the posts in chronological order when I open the app, why all the clicking and clicking, it annoys me every time.
Clunky user experience, laggy feed. Firstly, I will say that I like that Patreon allows me to support independent artists, however that is about where my praise ends. I have struggled with the functionality of this app since I downloaded it over a year ago. (And the trouble persists even after multiple app updates, uninstalling and reinstalling the app, and other trouble shooting.) There is a clunky user experience to almost every aspect of this app. Even trying to change my profile picture causes it to crash. Another example: if I click the “like” heart, it often won’t appear as selected next time I log on. Now my feed won’t update and Patreon’s recommended solution is to unsubscribe/re-subscribe to my podcasts?! This should be the responsibility of the developers to fix, not mine. A few other small things of contention; there isn’t an overtly obvious way to indicate that an episode has been played. Also, there is a pop/clipping noise a few seconds into each audio podcast I play, regardless of who produced the content. These kinds of things add up when it comes to user experience, so I’ll be looking for better ways to support these content creators outside of Patreon since the app seems to only be getting worse.
Patreon is great for authors, artists, anyone with a gift and the people who admire them.. As patrons we are usually able to converse with those we follow. If the Patreon artist sets things up, as mine do. The artist gets a much more dependable income allowing them more time to create! The people who follow them are usually given some free-bee’s, discounted & earlier than the general public products (books, art, etc…). The Patreon and followers can directly communicate with each other. Most of the artists that I follow set up surveys that may influence the direction of their work. I really like the commercial-free setup. I feel like more than just a nameless purchaser of their art. For the most part it’s win/win for all parties! I’m adding a podcast for sleep meditation with whispered directions, soft music, and nature sounds.
Talent / Creator’s monthly subscription(s). I’ve enjoyed using Patreon following a metal band over a year with their subscriptions tier menu options are reasonably great. Plus the perks to see their posts and interviews on the app. But the app has glitches I’ve noticed recently. To subs as a member on other Talents or Creator’s page to support them, they are not providing a tier options menu. Just a hidden membership price after you click on their “join membership” button, they automatically charge you, depending how much; $200 to $800+ or more for membership and support to their channel or creative line of work. The app does not even show how much each talent / creator’s membership prices are before joining any of them. On resubscribing, I was charged $500 to last Nov. When I cancelled (at any time) most of my perks on November, were removed but still charged and paying $500 and not refunded after replying why I did not have much time available to view a talent / creator’s page.
A great platform with a few hiccups.... A great platform for supporting creators and kickstarting one yourself. Though it’s not without some issues, sometimes the video player will close something your in the middle of if you close your phone or switch apps. Sometimes comments you write will inexplicably disappear after posting it, which can be frustrating when being able to comment on certain posts can be a tier for certain projects. And lastly occasionally posts won’t appear on the mobile version. I support Easy Allies a group of video game enthusiasts that make video content, for a long period of time they’re patron exclusive series Cup of Jones never appeared on the mobile app. Thankfully they reached out to patreon and worked this out. Despite a few annoyances Patreon is a great platform and a solid app. I wouldn’t listen to half the podcasts i do without the Mobile version.
Please make it better. Such a hassle to use and I feel like it could easily be made more user-friendly? I use it primarily for podcasts, and I am so frustrated by how CONSTANTLY the app restarts if I pause what I’m listening to, leave the app running, and use another app for just a few minutes. When I go back to the app, it shows the black background with the logo and then the top of my feed as though I had fully closed and shut off the app and reopened it again. If I am listening to an episode in an extensive back catalogue, which I often am, I usually have to go back and find it multiple times within a single listening session. I don’t know much about app design or coding but I can’t imagine it’s impossible to at least have the app be able to “save” what you were last doing when it shut itself down and have the little currently-listening-bar still be open at the bottom when it restarts, so you can just click play instead of trying to remember what the episode was called and searching for it, or having to just scroll through months/years of posts until you find it if you can’t remember.
the buggiest app!. This app is awful. It’s hard to search and navigate through the content of your ‘memberships,’ but the worst part is that the app doesn’t even load half the time. It will quit when moving between pages or just flat out fail to load the home page feed. I know it’s not an issue with my OS because I have a newer Iphone XR, and I don’t have these issues with any other apps. honestly it’s just disappointing. patreon plays an important role as a platform for creators to share their work and make a livelihood doing so— this app is so buggy and awful that it honestly works against that very goal. If there were some other widespread subscription service for creators to share their content, I would migrate IMMEDIATELY! To the patreon ios dev team, I really hope you get this app in working order. It’s embarrassing how poorly this app functions, and you do a great disservice to creators and patrons by leaving it in such dysfunction. It literally blows my mind that a company as important and widespread as patreon could mess up an app this badly.
Terrible app. This app is terrible. The user interface is really bad. There isn’t even an option for to add, update, or change payment info within the app unless your payment has already been entered on the webpage previously. They’re currently still charging a card that has been expired… Hard to navigate, no way of knowing if you listened to something already, no way to tell which of your content is related to your subscribed tier when so you can see the difference in content, comments get lost when you want to go back to them, there’s a community but it would be cool if I could follow users as well to see what content they watch to find content of similar interests. The app freezes & there’s wonky issues when changing from portrait view to landscape. I can’t really say anything I like about the app. I honestly wouldn’t use it if I didn’t have to. I’ve been using it for years and the app has always been bad. It’s better than it’s been, but still has a long way to go before it’s no longer a nuisance to use to listen to my fav podcasts.
The app is garbage.. Search functionality is terrible(and nonexistent when trying to search through a creator’s feed). Playback functionality is terrible, downloading content fails constantly, and even when “successful” refuse to play. No native video player, and mediocre/awful integration of Vimeo. I want to keep supporting my creators but this app makes it nearly impossible to justify spending money on content I may or may not be able to access. I’ve been using this platform for several years and still no significant improvements. Very disappointing. Update: I’m literally trying to subscribe to a creator but I can’t. I can’t find it in the app, I can find it on a browser, but the browser won’t allow me to sign in, it also won’t allow me to address my sign in problems(like a ‘Forgot your Password?’-type solution). There is literally no way for me to support the creator I care about or access their content. This is an absurd failure in every level of your system. Please pass this on to your developers and chief executives. How can you grow without supporting the end-user patrons? How do you even continue to exist when a patron can’t support a new creator? Fix this.
Needs more work, please. I really love the idea of finding and patronizing through Patreon creators that are doing great work out there. No problem there. What I would like to see is more flexibility with the app. For instance searching a creators posts. Some of the creators that I follow make many posts and refer back to other posts. I have not found a way in the app to search those. Also many of my the creators do video or audio. The app does not let you leave the page or even turn off the screen(for putting in your pocket). It also doesn’t save your place on the vid/audio file if you mistakenly turn off your phone or hit a button while holding it in your hand trying to listen. It might do a bunch of stuff but for me if it doesn’t do these things then it doesn’t really work how I need it to work. Thanks
Can’t even download the app. I was trying to download the app to watch something, like almost every other person that uses the app and it doesn’t even let u download it. Click the download button, and it’s no my first time installing it, another time I installed it than I deleted it. Today I tried to redownload it and it told me I needed to use my Apple ID so I put it in, than it took me to my payment methods saying I have to verify something and there was nothing to verify, no specific instructions. I thought “oh bc I moved maybe I need to change the address on my card”. Changed my whole adress press done and it said press continue to verify, so I did and it took me right back to my payment methods with NO instructions so what was I supposed to verify??? I tired to retype my information thinking maybe there’s a typo or something and it took me back to “press continue to verify” this time I didn’t press continue bc I was thinking it’ll take me back to my pay methods so I pressed cancel and Patreon was loading and than it stopped and had the little cloud thing that comes up when u uninstall a app and u try and get it back. (Cloud and arrow). I’ve been trying for the past 20 mins maybe to figure out what’s the problem and kept doing the same thing over and over, retyping my information and nothing worked. Fix ur app, this is stupid
good app and content but dark pattern subscription model. I like the app design (needs a loop option for audio and videos). I love the content and variety of creators. The major issue I have is the use of dark pattern subscription model. They don't allow one year subscriptions that don't repeat. This dark pattern is usually used by disreputable sites that aim to make you forget you have a yearly auto renewal and slip another year subscription by you without knowing. To make things worse their faq says if you cancel a yearly sub you will retain priviliges til end of the year you paid for but this doesn't work. The support team claim this is because you need to cancel the free subscription before you cancel the paid which is absurd and should be treated as a major bug but I think it was done on purpose (more dark patterns) since they obviously know about it. End result is that I would subscribe to more yearly content but because of these swindling policies it's just too much trouble to track. What they don't realize is that it hurts them and alienates the customers more than gain them any extra year paid without the customer noticing.... Very P**n hub of them...
Honestly okay but could be so much better!. I’ve been using this app since 2019 and every now and then my app just stops working! I’ll get a notification click it and I’ll be redirected to .......redirected to..... still redirected.....! So I just refresh but nope now it’s not redirecting its 2 months worth of posts behind! And if I refresh again it won’t change!!! Sometime the the app will just kick me out before opening properly! It’s not all the time I love all the work I’m paying for it’s just frustrating and a little nerve racking when I have to refresh and app 8 time delete it! Download it again and then hope I get everything I paid for back! Then if I don’t having to ask the creators for a link to the content I lost and I feel so rude when I do! I just had to delete the app again and I’m bit mad but they need to do better on the app side of things. The website works better for me and that’s why I rated it high and because I’m here to support the creators!

They have fixed a few issues but.... While some major (for me) issues have been fixed, there are still a few things that need tending to. Ideally, I would like for this app to be a fully functioning alternative to logging in on my Mac Book. Scheduling posts would be a nice touch. So would changing your profile image. As someone who creates a lot of video & written content. I would very much appreciate the ability to save my video posts without needing the video link. I say this because on many occasions, I create the written portion of the video post ahead of filming the video. The app is getting better, but you do need to login on your computer to access all features. Thank for the efforts so far.
Great, but could be better. I love being able to support creators directly, so I really appreciate the service Patreon provides. The site could be a little easier to navigate (the few names I have been trying to find haven’t shown up when searching for them?? Had to use a direct link) or maybe being able to search by categories/subcategories of creators would be good. Also, if we’re able to search for new people to follow within the app/browser, maybe some cover page content from each creator so you know more about what you’d be spending money on, rather than kind of a guess?
Massive Security Breach. A lot of iOS users have reported to have been logged in into accounts that weren’t theirs on 24 September (US time) and they were able to see people’s info like their email address, their pledges and their private messages. This was confirmed by Patreon itself on Patreon Support Twitter account on the same day that it happened and we have yet to receive any emails of Patreon addressing this issue. Patreon seems to have treated this issue as a minor incident when it clearly wasn’t.
Remove the “recently played”. The latest update includes a section called “recently played”. I don’t know what need this section is trying to fill, at least for myself, it fails. That section is full of podcasts that have one or two minutes left which is the merely Outtro for the podcast I listen to. The worst thing is, I can’t remove the section nor can I remove the items in it! It is taking up space on my screen and I have to scroll down to my “Downloaded episodes” that I have yet to listen to. Fire the ‘user interface designers” that work for Patreon, because they are not doing their job!
Work in progress!. Sometimes when I’m using this I think of ways they could have made it better. But really it has improved in just a few short months so I’m expecting more in the future.
Primitive. Do not get too excited about this app. It will give you access to creators and their content but it is very basic, the experience is not good. Specific things like downloading videos does not work, when watching videos it does not go full screen or handle rotation. Many of the functions will just open a browser window and drag you through the login process. I have found it much better to just use a native web browser.
Harder to navigate. It was easier to access all your patreons in the previous UI. This one just feels tedious. More movement to access accounts. Previous version had the middle bottom whereas this on your have to tap top right. Furthermore, searching posts is still atrocious. The desktop version is more versatile and user-friendly. You’re able to search specific months. That feature is amazing for patrons who joined a Patreon with hundreds of posts. Please rectify these problems.
I wish the player was a bit better. The player is a kinda buggy and i wish it had a feature that remembers playback/playtime or when you stop or started.
Hard to find new pages to follow/support. It’s great if you know someone you’d love to support has pointed you to their Patreon via another channel, but really difficult to find new or similar people to support (the explore function is too broad). E.g. search by ‘illustrators’, or ‘find similar Patreon artists to this’ I also couldn’t update my profile and profile photo from the app and had to use the website I really love the idea and would love to find similar pages to support financially
Good content bad format. I would like to offer some feedback based on the user experience. - I would like to see the settings changed so episodes play automatically when the previous finishes - the ability to change the settings so I’m listening to the oldest episodes to the newest - once the episode plays and finishes, it is hidden from my view and I know where I’m up to . Also to add, maybe take a leaf out of the Overcast app and add features to sort and edit
Very Happy Camper!. Brilliant! I've found some of my favorite authors here on Patreon and new ones, too. Also pod casters. This gives me a way to not only get the most up-to-date info on new books, but also I get snippets, ideas, pics and any thing else that happens to cross their minds to share 🤗! I haven't had a single problem using this and I'm more than happy to share this with anyone!
Not as accessible as it COULD be. I’ve recently had my page published and the app was working perfectly about a month ago, and now it just seems to be very limited in its functionality. I have two accounts and I should be able to switch back-and-forth, quite easily between the two, but the app is not so easily navigated with just the one account so using two accounts with this app is quite difficult. The app really needs to work the same way as the website itself. I shouldn’t have to be logging into a website to check my account. I should be able to just open the app and there is my account with all of the features needed to run my page successfully.
Could be useful. This is a good app if all you want to do is browse the media stream from creators. But as a creator I find this app to be a huge missed opportunity that Patreon needs to work on. It could be a great asset to creators. I find I need to check the web site to be up to date on the actions of my Patrons (messages, pledge changes, etc). Maybe Patreon needs to split the app, just turn this app into an App that provides Patrons with access to the media stream, pledge info, message system, etc. While splitting out the functions for creators into a dedicated "Patreon Studio" app for creators. Then focus on what each app is for, rather than trying to do everything in one app and not getting it right.
Everything was great… then the update happened. I literally cannot open the app without it crashing. I have tried shutting off my phone, deleting and reinstalling the app etc etc and every time I click on it I think maybe it will work this time but I have to end up going to my safari to look at my Patreon content. Some of the features available on the actual website don’t even exist on the app which is frustrating too but I believe the main issue is the constant crashing that makes it useless. Please fix this so I can give it 5 stars bc once it does work it’s great!
Would recommend. Great site, massive range of ways to interact with creators and fans, does have some problems however have rarely had the same problem twice and a majority have been site wide and not the app’s fault, would recommend for anyone who regularly accessed Patreon from their phone, overall would rate 5 stars if I didn’t just see a comment section filled with people saying they didn’t get an email notification they signed up for.
Nice idea - terrible app. The concept of patreon is nice but this app is just terrible. For podcasts, i only use patreon to support podcasters, means this app must be used to download and play them. This is the worst podcast app imaginable, utterly featureless compared with any other player. It barely manages to play podcasts, it won’t download automatically, can’t tell if you played it or not. The rest if the apo is similarly rubbish experience. There is no excuse for publishing apps this bad, plenty of great apps around to see how to make a good experience. I would ditch patreon in a heart beat if something else came to take its place. Oh, and support is non-existent, or just so useless might as well be, can’t tell which.
Extremely buggy. Things as simple as scrolling through creator posts cause bizarre offset bugs, or straight up crashes in many cases. Opening files that previously worked before the redesign crash outright too. The provided web browser is also severely lacking standard features and should just open in the native browser. Considering how clunky the web interface is on mobile devices I can’t really use it as an alternative, so I’m paying for a service I can barely use. I can’t recommend the platform in its current state.
Crashes when I need it not to. I try to keep up with those I support, so from the news feed, I select the artist name, the posts tab appears with the spinning circle of data retrieval, then the App crashes/kicks me out. This is for both my iPhone & iPad. My primary sources for Patreon as I don’t have a laptop. If this is fixed, it’s a 5/5 app.
Terrible Unreliable App. Possibly the worst of all of the streaming apps on my phone. Buggy, clunky, crash prone, where do I stop? The unreliability of this app impacts my listening ability. If I was a content creator on this platform, I would be very disappointed with the service that I was being provided. You would think that the lack of complexity of this app would make it much more reliable, sadly that is not the case. If there was another way to listen to this content, I would be doing so. Come on guys step up to the plate and create something that is actually usable.
Patreon is fab. Using Patreon is such a great place to go when you want to be lost in the vortex of entertainment, learning, admiring sheer brilliance. Andrew Tischler is an amazing artist with a wonderful teaching style. He has the unique ability to cover all aspects of oil painting for beginners through to advanced in one session. I couldn’t live without this inspiration in my day.
Glitchy but good.. Still cannot figure out how to view ‘clips’ from within the app. I have to go to Apple notifications. Even then if I write a comment it starts from the beginning again. Otherwise, a good app. I wish there were more uploads by creators. I follow VANCITY VANLIFE and he’s a good content creator. Others I’m a Patreon for don’t upload much or use all the features. Keep doing updates and making it more user friendly ‘intuitive’.
Scroll of doom ruins it. Please PLEASE can we get a proper scroll bar that skips by month or at the very least a ‘queue’ for episodes? Having to scroll for 5 minutes to get to old episodes I haven’t listened to is so tedious, especially having to do it all over again as soon as an episode finishes because the list jumps back to the top. It is so easily fixed. I follow many podcasts with 1000+ episodes, you’ve had this platform long enough to know how much a quick scroll or even the ability to search by month/year is needed. Such simple features will make the world of difference.
Notifications Won’t Turn Off. I turn off all notifications for the app (except for comments) and then a few days later, they all get turned back on again. I’m now getting notifications for things that are switched off. I don’t know how to stop this and I really don’t like notifications. Otherwise the app is okay, I enjoy the content and the people I am a patreon of.
Honesty & Integrity. When you get to 60 it’s hard to not look back at the events that have shaped your life in finance. So after many losses over the years I can now say that without a doubt I have found a presenter that acts with honesty and integrity, which makes it easier for me to be responsible for my own actions, and now on my way to financial freedom. What an awesome human being you are. Thanks James, May you be continually blessed.
One of my favourites. There are plenty of good podcasts out there but if you play or write music you could very well love this podcast. It’s my current number 1 in my top 5 podcasts. My others are Compleatly Beatles, Industrial Revolutions, The Nutritional Farmer and Behind the Song. Strong Songs is a musical explanation of songs and Behind the Song provides the context and background of a song. Very different podcasts but they compliment each other well
Can’t believe the ratings.. Considering how crunchy this app is, how have people rated this so highly? A place to support my faves? Great. Love it. Now if only I could actually scroll and look at comments, easily reply, look at likes, receive notifications for replies/likes, communicate better, have less bugs and glitches, be able to look at the media from the people I follow in a clean and easy way. I couldn’t even edit my profile from the app on my phone, there are so many features I literally have to go to the site to access and even then it’s crunchy as f. I’m going to keep using this because if I don’t then I can’t easily support my faves, not to mention access the content they post exclusively on Patreon. We pay for this! Y’all needa do better. Edit: just scrolled through reviews and you’ve had these issues for literal years. This is pathetic, how have this issues not been addressed?
Lack of a search functionality. I only listen to one authour “Mike Bennett” who is amazeballs!! But I cannot see a way to search his feed for particular stories, or an wasy one click to where I have my downloads ... I just accidentally found that spot through a number of unintentional taps and screen slides. Could be easier!!
Latest update has less features. Latest update seems to have removed the ability to edit your profile. As a patron I’d also like the ability to be able to edit my comments and manage my messages from within the app. Sometimes I’ll get notifications, sometimes I won’t. A post can say it has x amount of comments but most of the time they never load. Good app for the basics such as viewing posts but better to use the website for everything else.
The day I heard juzz. The day I first heard juzz blew me away he was jamming with John butler two really great players of guitar and harmonica in they’re own right, watching juzz and John play my favorite John butler song inspired me to get back into practicing harp after a lengthy break from it, it actually gave me goosebumps , my goal now is to find some like minded people/band to jam with and possibly play a few gig’s with forever hopeful before I get too old 🪕
Terribly complicated. I’ve tried to explore the app but it’s impossible. The idea seems nice but what if you want to explore random creatives. People you don’t know that exist. You just only can search for who you know? What’s the point of being and artist trying to be known if the only way of finding people is knowing who they are already. And if you can do it, then how? It’s really complicated and I’m about to give up. I’m an artist and this doesn’t make me confident that people are going to see my work if they don’t know who I am already.
Needs improvement. Love Patreon but the app is definitely lacking and there’s a massive gap in functionality between it and the mobile website. Why can’t it be the same experience as the mobile website which is way better than using the app imo
Great app with flaws. This is a great app and concept but it need to be fixed regarding bugs and smoothness of the experience. From mobile devices is not possible to modify my profile or anything related. Also to upload a post with multiple pictures 9/10 times it will crash or just not respond and in the end you gonna have to do it one by one or via pc. It’s a shame cause right now people are seriously considering new alternatives to instagram and i think that this could be the best with the right tuning. We need a better mobile experience Can’t wait for this uploads!
Rudimentary, amateur, barely functional. You cannot bookmark content or even later find posts you’ve “liked”. Does not cache anything, not even collections. Wastes your time scrolling through big lists to find anything. Collections did not improve this e.g. a novel with a hundred chapters still takes minutes to find your place. Then wastes your bandwidth downloading it again, then forgets where you were up to if the app updates or your device restarts. They do successfully take your money, though. Rest assured, that part works fine. Everything after is minimum effort and horrible to use. Absolutely pathetic that an established brand has such a rudimentary app with such a poor user experience.
Can’t hold place. Love the concept of the app and what it enables, however I have 2 major gripes: 1. App is unable to consistently remember where in a podcast I left off, like how hard is it for the app to remember which podcast it was playing and at what point?? 2. When listening on AirPods if the audio is interrupted for whatever reason (phone call, reply to a message, etc) when attempting to resume it pauses and plays repeatedly every half second, this is usually when using wireless controls or on Lock Screen If these two items could be addressed it’s make the user experience so less frustrating
Absolute garbage app with no search function. The single worst app on my phone. Would drop it like the hot garbage it is if it wasn’t the only place I could get the subscribed content I’m after. The worst search function in history with the title layout for downloads also equally unfriendly to the paying user. Why can’t we search for an episode in our own subscribed content???? Without manually scrolling through possibly hundreds of entries. You guys are having an absolute laugh. Sort it out.
Repost to remind the creators how trash this is. Pretty sure they removed my last review and yet the issues of haven’t been fixed. It’s still the most frustrating app and I can’t even use the web browser because it blocks a chunk of the screen telling my to use this janky mess. Opening comments on a post will break the app, scrolling will break the app, trying to see more than 5 posts will break the app, basically opening the app will break the app.
Poor navigation experience with latest upgrade. An ’upgrade’ was pushed out that changed the user interface. What was easy to navigate around is not now. Opening the new app gave no guidance on how to use the new interface so frustration sets in trying to find material and have it display correctly. Screens weren’t displayed correctly - a poor experience. If developers feel a new interface is required, there should be the ability to select it if you want (or not in this case).
needs some improvement. I struggle to find the podcast episodes I’m looking for. There is an ‘audio’ tab where you can find the eps you’re currently listening to but I find it a little unreliable. It would be great if you could filter the podcast episodes into listened/not listened. An option to auto play the next ep would be helpful as well since I often find myself having to manually search for the next ep in a series.
Good way to view updates but still room for improvement. The latest update does as it says stopping crash on launch. Not sure why it suddenly started crashing in the last few days and this was needed? Latest update also now seems to let clicking on a notification to take you to that info rather than just opening generally, good but also unsure why this was not working for so long. Unlike on the website the app does not allow you to view all patronage updates in one list but it is a good way to look at each individually.
Good but pointless. The app works but you can’t really do much with it, just write up a post and reply to messages. It’s kinda annoying you have to use other social medias to promote yourself, it’s such a needless hassle, so I don’t really understand the point of tags on your posts either lol oh well But, if you aren’t posting softcore p@rn don’t bother with patreon unless you already have a large enough following.
Podcasts constantly lose audio. I pay for my subscriptions to listen to creators' podcasts ad-free. However, the audio goes silent every 10 seconds (even though it says it's still playing) and I have to rewind to hear it. I can't repeat this process every 10 seconds for the entire length of a podcast. In this regard the app is borderline useless.
Fantastic. My Husband and I love Patreon it’s our little date after our working day and gives us hope for our financial future we appreciate all you do it shows what a generous person you are and thanks to everyone who assists you and your research 😃 Cheers Andy and Shelly Hobart Tasmania ❤️
Absolutely useless. - No sort posts by dates. Have to scroll down for the oldest posts. - No sync for video playback progress. - Absolutely horrendous video player. The on screen control is unresponsive, full screen button sometimes doesn’t show, drag the progress bar to a precise time is mission impossible. The change resolution basically doesn’t work, it shows options but only allows you select auto. Honestly why not just remove this app and let everyone use the website? The video player is equally awful but at least it’s got sorting.
Content great but app not working. I love Patreon and being able to support creators. However the app can be very temperamental and glitches frequently. This is particularly true if you need to update payment details. Every time this happens I follow the troubleshooting guide and uninstall the app, turn my phone off, then turn back on again, download app and sign back in again. It doesn't work!!! It generally takes 24 hours before it gets back to normal and this is after multiple times uninstalling app etc. its super super frustrating as I love the content on patreon and think the concept is great but the app consistently is a nightmare to use if yoj have issue with payment and need to update payment. Other than that app works ok, just seems to glitch badly when payment needs to be updated or resubmitted thru app.
Can’t click on links. can’t click on links and ALSO i cannot copy comments. Also wouldnt it be easier if comments were already opened with the post u are viewing like u dont have to click on comments when u view a post but its scrollable when u scroll to the bottom???
Socially Democratic / New Politics Australia. I’ve been a Patreon subscriber to a few channels, and the experience has been fantastic. The level of quality content, especially from New Politics Australia and Socially Democratic, has genuinely deepened my understanding of the political landscape in Australia. New Politics Australia dives into current events with nuanced analysis, making complex issues accessible. Meanwhile, Socially Democratic combines insightful commentary with engaging interviews, making each episode both informative and enjoyable. Patreon’s platform makes supporting these creators easy and gives subscribers access to exclusive insights that you simply don’t get elsewhere. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to stay informed and engaged!
Synch issues between app and web. Big issues of content not in synch between appears in the app and what appears on the web version. Comments postes via the app don’t always appear on the web version and are therefore not seen by others (even though they appear in my app version). Conversely, I can’t see all comments of others appearing in the app version, although they appear in the web version. Latest version does not display photos posted by members in the Community tab??? Photos appear on the web version but do not appear in the app version... Patreon iOS developers. You’ve got work to do to fix these major bugs and annoying aspects of your app.
Worst possible user experience. If I knew of a different way to support my favourite creators I would be off this app in a heart beat. Impossible to see even the most fundamental basics, such as how much am I paying for each creator, how to edit my payment method, re-trigger the payment when it fails to go through, basics around my account information. All these failures and they still take 5%-12% from creators.
Cumbersome & disappointing. I downloaded the app because the website appeared wonky on my iPhone, only to find out that the app is pretty much a browser-based wrapper around the mobile site. It does function somewhat better, but the layout is poor and it lacks the nice fluidity of a proper iOS app. Very disappointing, and only marginally better than the mobile site itself. p.s. I just noticed that if you swipe to the bottom of a page there's a button to download the Patreon App on the App Store. Talk about redundant!
Monthly Membership. First of all there should be an option to turn off auto renew without cancelling membership. Most importantly people should realise membership is not monthly as in you get a month worth of membership, instead to pay for that month and get membership until that month ends. So if you pay for membership a week before the month ends then all you get is a week worth of membership. I also hate how you have to pay tax. All companies must pay tax it shouldn’t mean you make consumers pay slightly more just to cover your tax costs. Pay your own taxes, put your gst up yourself

Watches. You have to support someone who has the same interests as you do. They have a lot costs and time invested. Thanks.
Use the Web version. Apple is implementing a 30% price increase for subscriptions when using the app. The app itself isnt that good either, use the web version to support creators without apples greed affecting your wallet.
Merch. I loooove listening to these two talk about cases! I absolutely love their merch store… But as a Canadian really wish it wasn’t $54 for shipping lol ! One of these days I will make the purchase. But for now guys keep up the amazing podcast work. I love listening to you both. Xo
Downloads don’t work. Downloads often fail or say “we ran into an issue” as soon as you try to play a downloaded episode offline. This is a major bug
They broke the downloads page. Not sure what happened but instead of conveniently removing a download after finishing listening to it the app instead thinks it broke while playing and unhelpfully leaves it in the list forever while offering to "Retry Download" instead. Nice work.
app is beyond painful to use. i just got this so i could new releases from my fave web author after website wouldnt stop prompting me to download the app. everytime i try to read a post, the comments will pop up randomly and i cant close them. the ‘x’ is unresponsive. so i have to close the whole damn app and navigate back again. what should take 5-10 min max, ends up taking 20-25 jfc
Technically it works most of the time. I guess because I am technically able to listen to content with this app most of the time it works, but it is a sad excuse for a streaming app. Every time you finish an episode it resets your filters so if a creator has lots of content (which most do) you have to go back, add filters again, scroll the entire list of content back to your spot to go to the next episode. Often you have to restart the whole app between episodes so that the content will load. When I have less on my plate I’ll switch to Spotify but I would still prefer to work with Patreon, the app is just so cumbersome!
Fell in love. My partner and I try and listen to podcasts when we're on the road and tried listening awhile back, now I'm in love and listen to every episode. We even went to Seattle in June to watch a live show and made a weekend of it. ps. They proposed to me that weekend and I counter proposed
Tired of hassles when trying to delete account. I'm disgusted by the way companies make deleting an account a maze of pages. Wanted to delete an old account, can't seem to get to the point. I don't need to read a novel on how you handle my data, just delete the account.
1 hour podcast, 30% of battery gone. HOT!. I haven’t experienced a worst performing app before. All I need is for the app to play a 1 hour audio. But it gets extremely hot and eats through 30% of my battery in the process. All on the background, basically no screen time at all. It’s insane.
Podcasts never load. When I try to listen to a podcast some episodes always fail to download or just load infinitely, better to just use the mobile website the app is busted
App notifications. For weeks now the app is showing I have 2 notifications. I can’t clear them and it’s driving me nuts. I’ve clicked through every page, refreshed, deleted and reinstalled the app and nothing.
Can’t log in with email at all.. Useless as I cannot access my account through the app. Love the site though!
Great. I get to listen to right wing brain rot 😩😻😻
Ew. Seriously y’all need to fix the apps embedded video system every creator i support who uses it the experience is awful, my wifi is perfect not laggy on any other platform except yours genuinely the videos r unwatchable because of how bad the quality is and how much it buffers the ui design is just so bad especially when trying to search for things fix ur embedded system already it’s 2024
watching. wish you could mirror onto tv without airplay
Get Apple TV app. Love this app but would love to watch the videos directly from my Apple TV. Sometimes AirPlay has issues!
Lacks all the features you’d expect from a video playing app. No play listing… also constantly crashes and has errors / doesn’t load while scrolling after watching a video .
Loves to take my money randomly. I really wish it wouldn’t just randomly charge me in the middle of the night, weeks after I didn’t pay for a membership. Like wow? You didn’t try to take money out of my account until I had it. Literally my last dime too that I can’t even refund.
No split view. 👎🏽
Fix bugs. Even when all notifications are checked you can’t clear them. The app will always show a notification.
Sorting options. It would great if there was an option to filter previously watched videos and new ones from your favourite creator channel. 💯
Useless app. Can’t log in no help or support.
Used to be good. Downloads is completely broken and unable to be used unless there’s connection to the internet
Dark mode?. When are you guys adding dark mode? 2025?
Need to fix notifications. I miss so many new posts from creators I follow because your notifications are broken on iPhone. When I log in I see new posts, and then when I close the app I get the notification icon on the app. It’s so backwards! Also the new feed is confusing and also makes me miss new posts. Please have a chronological view that we can set as default if we choose.
Bugs every time. So bad that I want to kill my self
Recent Update. Cannot access subscriptions on Patreon mobile with most recent update, even after updating iPhone to newest iOS. Not able to use app for almost a month.
Useless junk. Crashes all the time.
Got a notification after signing out.... Security issue
Love it wish can download and not have rewind though. Title review
Downloading. You guys should add features in which we can create a playlist in which we could add our favourite videos and also download them to listen without needing internet connection just like YouTube, maybe some people enjoy listening to the videos whilst sleeping.
No Functionality for Creators. As a Patreon creator I was look for the ability to have some functionality for managing my Patreon creator account. This app has ZERO functionality for this. The description is false. Beware. It is 100% for Patrons supporting creators. That’s great for Patrons, but Patreon might want to consider providing mobile support for their actual customers.
Use the browser version. The app is almost PAINFULLY bad to use. There is less functionality to it than exists on the website. I cannot make a playlist to view favourite videos, forcing me to manually search every single time (a task made even more tedious because the app lacks the same set of options in the search tool that the website has). At least the website version allows me to make bookmarks of individual posts; something the app cannot do. Also, there are no Skip Ahead or Skip Back buttons when in full screen mode. This forces me to use the timeline at the bottom of the screen, where it is so close to the bottom my iPad thinks I am trying to swipe right into another app. I should not have to use an Apple Pencil to scrub through the timeline. This app feels like an Alpha version that is still in development and not a polished tool that has been on the market for several years. Use the browser version.
Pathetic interface. No autoplay/playlist makes this a joke of an app
Reliable. Excellent reliable sources for news. Mainstream media works around the clock to hide the information you would see on Patreon especially MintPress News to control the narrative outlined by colonial Zionist regimes around the world.
Terrible app. Great content creators on the platform but terrible iOS app. Can’t listen to downloaded stuffed when out of WiFi of cell data « Something went wrong » keeps popping up. Sometimes downloaded failed too.
Unsafe. The block feature does not work. I’ve reported a community member dozens of times for use of hate language and nothing has happened. Don’t get me started on other bad elements of the UX.
iOS to start milking App users. Do not download.
Popup buster. I am just doing this so the popup stops thanks
The Scarred Beast. Not impressed with is app. I’m feeling really bad that I spent on it. SMH. I paid to read a book and I only get 6 chapters? Not impressed.
Great cause. I love being able to support people I believe in financially.
Garbage. Garbage app gets worse with every update
Player doesn’t work. You are a streaming app, fix your player, you can’t listen to the audio of the video without keeping it open
Don’t know what to do. Here three stars for no reason
Worst app ever. I’ve used hundreds of apps and I e never had trouble figuring out how to use them until now. There’s no real Search option, I picked my way through everything until I found what I was looking for, and there’s no play button. No buttons at all to stop, pause, restart. Nothing. There’s no real way to save a book unless you’re supposed to save them by downloading them, which I’ve done but how do I get the thing to play now? What’s the point of this thing? Who developed it and why in such a convoluted way?? Gad.
Terrible Apple Fee. Scrap the app. Make users use the web browser of their choice on the phone they use. Guide them how to create an icon on their home screen (bookmark to patreon’s website) 99% of people won’t notice the difference.” between the app and the website.
Notifications won’t clear. The app itself serves its purpose but when you get notifications, they don’t clear on your screen, even after reading everything tagged in the app itself. I’ve tried deleting and reinstalling, removing all notifications and nothing works. So I’m stuck seeing the number 4 on my mobile (iPhone iOS 17.6.1) screen in the top right corner of my app. VERY annoying.
Adsterra is the most preferred ad network for those looking for an alternative to AdSense. Adsterra is the ideal choice for new sites with low daily traffic. In order to advertise on the site in Adsterra, like other ad networks, a certain traffic limit, domain age, etc. is required. There are no strict rules. Sign up!
Clunky, impossible but cool idea. This rating cannot be accurate , start scrolling, the app is impossible . Maybe eliminate all the initial and naive, hopefulness, and separate creators from supporters and the rating would be more believable . I even wonder if they have purposely made it as difficult as possible!!! I continually have an awful time on Patreon and lost all faith. They have complicated everything, charge you , without clear notice of all charges on 1st of month even if you were stupid like me and signed up on 30th. And try to follow their instructions to cancel that are impossible and not accurate. Fabulous concept, but tedious , overdone and all this benefit and feed lines when I only wanted to support podcasters who do a great job. Listening is tedious as well. Fortunately I can and it’s simple, clear and finely tuned. And I just don’t know why it is so clunky to listen, navigate and to figure out how to simply cancel AND communicate. And I don’t understand why rated so highly., for that is not what half the people say.
Tired of this App. This app frustrates me to my core. While I am watching content, more often then not the content keeps playing but the screen is paused with the play button in the middle which usually means I lost my progress so when I hit play again I have to find my spot. It also does this when you turn the phone on its side for horizontal view sometimes. Sometimes it records my progress sometimes it does not. Also, sometimes I can’t pause using my headphones anymore and have to open the app to pause it and close the app and reopen. I have to use this app because of the people I listen to but man I hate this app. I probably close this app at least 10 times a day to reset it from what ever bug I’m experiencing. Please fix this buggy app!
Can’t filter out played episodes. (EDITED- they just added this feature, now I’m not upset) Please update the app so you can filter out already played episodes. If I join a patreon that’s been at it for many years and they have a lot of content, not being able to filter out already listened to episodes is a huge annoyance and SHOULD BE an easy thing to add. What also makes this way more annoying than it already is is that when you listen to an episode and go back to the episode list, you have to refresh the list from the top and then scroll allllll the way back to where you were. I love the content from the creators I follow but this dogsht app (website too) makes it very annoying to navigate.
Amazing UI. It’s super easy to set everything up, you can use PayPal which is vary nice, and you can view information quick and easy, everything is straightforward and refined, it’s not confusing or crowded feeling, overall the UI is amazing. I like that if you accidentally cancel and re-join a creator within a month, It doesn’t charge you again until your original renew date. Links from anywhere will take me to the app, which is vary convenient, and it’s super obvious where to click for certain things without being annoying and in the way. I like that you can click on membership to see who you’re subscribing to and for how much, and at what tier. Much better than the website.
Not a smooth experience.. As a patron, I like seeing the things I’m paying for in a convenient place. This app needs a landing page with a feed just like every other content driven service ever. When I open it, I want to see the new stuff that I’m paying for, not the page of someone that hasn’t updated in 6 months. When trying to edit my payment information that the app informed me I was missing, pages kept flickering in and out of view and I was never confident the information I was inputting was taking. Ultimately after two tries I gave up. Selections kept falling behind black blocker screens. It also gave me the sensation of a desktop site on mobile where it feels like the content is there, just down and to the right somewhere (maybe). For a service that is a middle man for giving other people money, the experience should inspire confidence that said money is being handled with care. This app doesn’t do that. It’s too clunky of an experience for a company that’s been around for 5 years.
Disappointed. I’ve been hearing so much about patreon so I finally caved and downloaded it so I could subscribe to my favorite podcast. I pay x amount of money a month for this subscription, but due to the glitches of the app the episodes almost never load. It doesn’t matter if i’m connected to wifi or using my data, the app is just so wonky and slow. It’s frustrating because there’s no where else I can get this content, so I rely on patreon to work. Even more, i’m paying for this monthly so I want to be able to access it without waiting 10+ minutes for an episode to load. Even more so, this affects the content creators directly because of the app’s low functionality. Hopefully this gets fixed in the future, however I’ve updated the app several time with no avail.
The latest update is a mistake. Who on the product team thought it was a clever idea to have creators that people don’t follow on their homepage? Every time I open the Patreon app now I’m newly annoyed to see creators who AREN’T my creators on my homepage. Does the c-suite think users are actively seeking out other patreons to give their money to? I want to see the creators I’M giving my money to. These are niche communities — users who are more than likely already active with those creators have found them somewhere else that wasn’t Patreon and have joined Patreon to support the creators they enjoy. The product team should have done at least one user test with actual Patreon users before deciding this was going to get the company more revenue or conversions, and the c-suite needs to stop thinking so short-term beyond this quarter before they end up killing their product.
Can’t enlarge text or zoom in. Seriously?. I am glad to have the app allowing me to support creators… but the fact that there is no ability to zoom in or increase the SMALL font size is ridiculous. I contacted their support to find out where this function was (figured I was just missing it because why would any text-heavy app NOT have such a basic capability). Their response was to use the website. Which, of course, doesn’t have the same functionality. I have a very new iPad (meaning high resolution and large screen) but that doesn’t do much good if the font is too small to read without holding the screen closer than is comfortable. 3 stars for the fact that Patreon allows me to support authors. I’d give 4 if the missing functionality was uncommon, but seriously. Too cheap or lazy to allow magnifying the view or increasing font size means I’m dinging them 2 stars.
Still has bad bugs. This app has come a long way as far as fixing bugs so it has gone from horribly useless to poor which is an improvement. I find issues with the UI particularly in how hidden the menu is to search and find new content creators you don’t follow. I think the search for new creators should be out in the Feed section. What I still find horrendously bad is the media player. It never remembers the last position where you left off if you close the app, or go to another section of the app, it does not play in the background, if your watching a long episode the video can abruptly stop and then brings you back to the beginning because again, it never remembers where it stopped. All these horrendous bugs I find it appalling that they have not been addressed in so long. I rather watch content on any other player just because it works much better.
App has issues but love being able to support artists. I do love being able to support independent creators, but would really like some fixes for the app/platform: 1. AirPlay only works sometimes. If you’re watching a video in the app and select the airplay function, you can sometimes use other apps and play sound natively on your phone, but about half the time it will kill the playback of the patreon video and either play whatever random video clip autoplayed, or will randomly start playing back your most recent podcast or music. 2. If you support multiple creators the platform charges you multiple transactions every month instead of one total payment that gets split appropriately, and there’s no way to change payment dates without unsubscribing from a creator and re-signing up on whatever day you want to be charged.
Never saves my place. If I pause a podcast, especially a video podcast, then come back to it later (which is kinda the point of podcasts) the app almost never saves my place. It starts the episode over. It’s infuriating. I also don’t understand this new setup where I see posts from people I don’t subscribe to and have never heard of. I only have one subscription, and I have to click and click and click and click before I finally am just shown the posts from my one subscription. I just find this app to be an extremely frustrating user experience all around. Please fix the issue with it not saving your place. I literally now have to text myself the time stamp of when I paused a podcast so I can find it again, because I know Patreon is going to screw me over when I go back to it. I am PAYING for this app, the other podcast apps are free, and I don’t have to do this extra work with the free apps. Make it make sense. Fix it.
Latest update ruins the app. I love supporting my favorite creators, and posts from them are the only ones I want to see when I open up the app. For some reason Patreon decided that instead of what they’re paying for, users need to see posts from creators they don’t subscribe to. When I open the app more than half the screen is taken up by creators Patreon thinks I should subscribe to. At least I think that’s what it is. The section has no title and no explanation whatsoever. Who chose this for me? Why would I want to see it? Seeing recommendations from my favorite creators wasn’t enough I guess. They have to shove random stuff down our throats on the off chance someone might see a post from a creator they don’t know and go “wow, sure I’ll spend $5-10 a month after looking at several locked posts from this person I’ve never heard of.” I pay for the creators I want. Why is it apparently against Patreon policy to see only those posts when I open the app? Why are they constantly trying to make their service worse?
I wouldn’t listen to half the podcasts i do without the Mobile version.
the buggiest app!.
Thank you Patreon. I love Patreon and am very new to the platform but really appreciate what it allows for people to do. I’m a longtime singer/songwriter with a catalogue of 1000 songs or more and I love uploading a public new performance of one song a day on Patreon that allows anyone to take a listen to it without having to subscribe. I think that that is a very important option. I don’t want to ask people to support me with subscriptions but I do so very much appreciate the option being available to listeners. Thank you Patreon!! Shout out to Mela Bee, singer/songwriter out of Ontario, Canada who was my recent guest on my streaming show MUSIC TRAIN. She has an epic patreon that I support and I’ve seen some other pretty epic singer/songwriters offering so much and receiving so much support on Patreon!! My goal is 100,000 - 1,000,000 listeners:)
strange layout/interface and buggy. I’ve been using Patreon for a couple months now regularly on the app for the first time to watch videos (shoutout to Dan and Phil), and one thing I can always rely on the Patreon app for is that it will be buggy. And it just overall does not feel very user-friendly. First off: Video downloads. Why is the download offline option for videos weirdly hidden in the little menu instead of some kind of visible option? Also, there is no way to tell how fast your download is happening and no gauge for how far it’s downloaded, only “downloading” and “complete”. Secondly, I hate how my home page on this app is always recommending me patreons from random people before the content I subscribe to. It doesn’t feel like it makes sense to me to do this. Everything about this app is strange and needlessly annoying. At least it /mostly/ works. I like being able to support my favorite creators.
Ohn Mar Win. I absolutely love Ohn Mars Patreon account! She has just the perfect amount of incredible content!! My last two years have included quite a bit of leaving my home studio to visit and help my adult children as they moved away and started their own journey in life and and began raising a family and delighting me with three (so far) precious grandchildren. This change required a shift in my life if I was going to continue pursuing my art passion! I absolutely knew I HAD to create almost daily! (If possible) I had to re-arrange my thinking to keep supplies simple and quick to gather, compact and mobil! It’s taken time but I’ve switched to creating in sketchbooks when my home studio is not available. I simply pack & travel. Ohn Mar showed up at the perfect time when I was going through that transition!! She offers classes periodically throughout the month where she is in either in her studio or sharing her artistic travels with art students out of the country. All the while with minimal supplies AND successfully full-filling her long time dream of travel/food illustrations on-the-go as well!! In summary Ohn Mar encourages creativity via online watercolor and mixed media classes through the Patreon app, I love watching them on my phone!! So easy!! She’s been my life line to staying inspired during the shift my life has taken. I enjoy watching her pop up on my social media feed and live anticipating her emails with a new ideas and classes! Thank you so much Ohn Mar for sharing your classes and traveling on Patreon to fuel other artists artistic passions! I’m also very excited to see you so often promote, introduce, share and offer other artists too! Very resourceful and kind of you! TweetyJill
POOR TECH SUPPORT. This company has a very poor 2FA option that if you get disconnected from your authenticator app, you are totally screwed with these people. They do not respond to request for help and then they're just robbing you after that. I was subscribed to multiple Patreon creators and paying a lot in a year and I'm going to have to go find which payment methods I used and put in a complaint to my banks to try to prevent Patreon from robbing me any further since they refuse to bother to respond to anything I write them. They must not have any technical support staff. They have poorly designed the program so that if you get disconnected from the authenticator app when you restore your phone to factory settings during a phone problem or you replace your phone, you are stuck and can't get back in and these idiots running that place will not respond or say a word in response to a help message even though they claim to have people that will write you back after you put a support request in. But in fact nobody responds. They just sit there and take your money after that and they don't care that you're locked out and you've told them about it and they just ignore the problem. That would be OK if it wasn't a paid account but it is and I won't stand for being robbed by these people. I doubt they will ever bother to read this because they are too lazy to have technical support so I couldn't imagine they're reading their reviews.
Real geopolitics, not politics - exactly what the world needs. If you’re tired of political noise and just want to understand what’s really happening in the world, supporting creators like Peter Zeihan on Patreon is the way to go. I’ve always been fascinated by how geography, economics, and demographics shape, global events – not political opinions – and that’s exactly the kind of insight Zeihan and others deliver. Patreon lets experts break free from the click bait cycle. Instead of five minute oversimplifications, you get deep, clear analysis backed by real data. I love, knowing I’m helping to support real expertise and getting smarter about major issues like supply chains, military, strategy, and global power shifts. The world is moving fast. If you want to stay informed without getting dragged into partisan nonsense, this is where you want to be.
Content manager and podcast player. I subscribe to 10 content providers, 2 of which are free and the other 8 have various levels of cost and content provision. The Patreon service never fails to bill me, but it does not do well at all in providing talk the content. And the app as an audio podcast player is the worst of the four that I have tested. Ironically a few of the podcasts are handled well, but mainly because I can use a different player to retrieve and play them. But some are handled very badly by the Patreon service and the Patreon app. In fact they are handled so badly that they are not retrievable on the app or the mobile device and I have to retrieve them using a web browser on a computer, which rather defeats the purpose. If one really wants the content that a creator provides through this service then you will have no alternative than to use the service, but your best alternative is to not use the app and just use a browser on a computer.
Terrible Customer Support. I love the app, and I love subscribing to/reading from my favorite contributors, but that’s the only reason I continue to use this app. On a scale of 0-10 worst-best, the support team receives a solid 0. The support I received, upon being locked out of adding/editing my payment method(which then restricted my usage), was absolutely terrible. Every reply I received had nothing to do with what I asked, and not once was a question answered. Information was provided that I did not need or request, and my issue was never addressed, as I stated it. I ended up having to DELETE/DEACTIVATE my ENTIRE account because I was locked out of billing, unable to change my card to pay for services, and couldn’t get support from Patreon- an unfortunately ineffective and inefficient way to operate/support locked out members. Though, based on my prior support interactions, I don’t expect an intelligent response (from Patreon) related to anything I’ve written, I hope this is read and perhaps looked at by a human being that operates beyond a script.
Infuriating. The fact that they have RossDraws on their cover image makes me gag. He’s been called out many times for copying people’s photos and being a fraudulent artist. But more importantly the UI/UX of this app is god awful. For example if you upload a set of images, when you select one, a trash can icon pops up if you want to delete. You’d assume it meant deleting the single selected image. But no… it deletes the whole set. Or how about rearranging the images before you post? Nope, they didn’t include that functionality. Hmm oh wait… how about checking your subscribers to see who’s who or perhaps message them. Can’t find that. Can’t really figure out anything because it’s so poorly thought out or lack thereof. Update: I maintain my 1 star rating as none of the issues with this app have been fixed. Also if you’re writing a post and switch apps to copy a link, the app deletes the entire post including everything you’ve written and all the meticulously selected images. What a nightmare.
Good layout & UI but poor performance.. I like the Patreon app because it’s well designed, and without it I wouldn’t be able to listen to bonus podcasts. That being said, if you’re playing an audio file from the Patreon app while you’re browsing twitter for example, and you watch a video on twitter so it pauses your audio, then when you close the video the audio starts back up again—if it worked properly. Instead, the audio resumes and then immediately pauses and then resumes and then immediately pauses and continues this until you open the Patreon app and pause then resume the audio and it continues to work normally after that. Nothing shows up on your audio feed until you’ve began playing something, so if you want to find content from, say, a few months ago, expect to have to scroll down the feed for 5 minutes while intermittently pausing for the feed to load for minutes at a time. These problems aren’t app-breaking but they sure are frustrating. Also, the app tells me good morning for the entirety of the day. If I open the app at 8pm it says “good morning alex!” at the top of the feed, which tells me that the developers were hardly even trying when they built the app. I would actually give this app 2.5 stars but the App Store doesn’t allow half star ratings.
Patreon App used for Viktor Larkhill.. I have found so many things go bad when using the internet; misuse of personal information, misuse of credit and debt cards such as unauthorized withdrawal of funds and getting that money returned not being easy; impossible in some cases. I have just recently installed the Patreon App to donate monthly to Viktor Larkhill's Animal Rescue Treatment and Care Organization, headquartered in Spain (I reside in the USA). So far, I could not be happier and feel safer with Patreon's security measures to insure I am the person authorized to access Patreon using my verified device. Most people may not appreciate the extra security step, I for one do. Also, I feel confident that should Patreon find their current security is not fool proof, they will be quick to resolve the possibility and implement upgraded security and precautions. CJ.D.
An essential platform for my artistic growth. Patreon allows me to stay in direct connection with my supporters and to provide a platform where I can share my work with potential patrons or simply people who want to be uplifted by what I do. I love the fact that it can be accessed by people who are not yet patrons and they can get a good idea of what I do. I love the fact that they can become a patron for $1 dollar a month. I like the fact that people can give more if they are so motivated and can afford it. I am a strong believer in art for the people and not making artwork so exclusive that its value is raised simply because of its rarity. Art belongs out with the people. Patreon allows me that access. I look forward to growing and expanding my audience through Patreon as well as other social media platforms
Patreon is great, the app needs work.. I love the idea of being able to subscribe to people you want to support on Patreon. What I don’t love is the fact that the app is not intuitive and user-friendly. The app constantly glitches and crashes when trying to watch content on it. It doesn’t background properly. And it also should have an option for background Mo to where you can just play the audio from your podcast or whatever it is you’re subscribed to in a low data mode. I don’t know. I feel like I spent a lot of money on the subscriptions for the app to have such problems and me not to fully enjoy the contact that I pay for, but I still give it 4 stars just for the availability of things that I get on here I can’t get anywhere else.
Episode Download and play feature doesn’t work. I can download an audio file, but it won’t play through the application. I have to use the Patreon web based program to listen. I have an XR and have downloaded the latest app version multiple times. Rebooted phone. Audio file seems to download fine, but I only get a spinning dial at the bottom of the episode’s screen when attempting to play download. Patreon support responded but was unable to provide any helpful advice except what I described above and tried multiple times since they responded (i.e. try installing latest app again, reboot phone). I have explained the situation again to Patreon support but the problem, unfortunately, remains unaddressed and support has gone silent.
It’s decent. Pateron is a decent app, it seems legit in the way that it seems like it’s designed and maintained by professionals. However the reason I’m giving it 3 stars is because when I load up the app, and try to watch a video, the video itself won’t actually play. It will just continue to show that it’s loading. I did some digging yesterday online, but couldn’t find anything that helpful, however what I did notice is that they are a relatively small company (only about 400 employees). Which might explain why the app using doesn’t work correctly! (I’m using an iPhone 12 running iOS 16.0.2) so I’m starting to think that maybe the only reason why the app doesn’t work on my end is because they just haven’t updated the app to run on iOS 16.0.2. But other then that, the app launches fine, just doesn’t play videos, which is a slight let down in my books.
Great for supporting artists… annoying non-optional queue feature. Patreon is a great way to support artists and such but ever since it has added a queue feature for audios, I’ve been thoroughly annoyed. If you like listening to asmr artists to fall asleep, the app is horrendous to use because it’ll auto put a queue in and you’ll have to manually edit it each time. Even though they’ve added a setting to “turn this off,” it still has a queue automatically put in for playlists or for if you select an audio from your recently played section. If there was a setting to completely turn off the feature for once and avoid having to manually edit the queue and potentially forgetting to do so entirely, this app would be okay. It’s an active inconvenience to use an audio to fall asleep and then being woken up by a new audio starting.
Love the concept, not the app. Patreon is a great idea. I love that I can support some of my favorite creators. Navigating the app (at least on the iPad) is a pain. When I swipe to scroll through the feed, it works fine until it runs out of pre-loaded content. When new stuff needs to load, it’ll give you a spinning “loading” icon to let you know it’s thinking - fine. But when the new content loads, it rushes up past where you were quickly, so you lose your place. When you scroll up to find your place again, the feed gets super stuttery, making it annoying to find your place (especially since you shouldn’t have to). Some of my favorite artists post multiple images in one post - that’s cool, right? It’s nice to see a group of drawings around the same theme. But when you go back to the feed from within a post, it just puts you somewhere in the feed, usually past where you were when you clicked the post. And if you’re deep in a feed but need to put your iPad aside - say you get a phone call or something - when you open your iPad again, you’re back at the top of the feed. Super frustrating. I’ve had all of these problems in landscape and portrait modes, on the previous generation iPad Pro. It makes for a crappy user experience. I’d suggest using the website over the app.
Nice but. The app as been really nice and I love it. It's a great way to keep up with your favorite artists and lets them have free reign of their content. However, some update ago, I have found that I can no longer click on any of the pictures to make them bigger. I don't know if this was intentional, or if it's the app or my phone. If it was intentional, maybe they don't want people stealing content. That's understandable, but I follow mostly comic book artist and cannot see the words as I am hard of seeing. If you don't want content stolen, there are ways to block saving a picture and ways of blocking screenshots. I've seen it in other apps. If it was not intentional, please address this, as the app is no longer fun for me who cannot see the posts well. Thank you. If it's my phone, I'm sorry for this bad review.
The App is Inoperable. I start with saying, because I am subscribed to my favorite creators I gave the app a 3 star rating. However, because the app is practically useless now is why I am leaving the review. The update of the app having a home page that has nothing to do with what I am PAYING to see is insane, the comment section being separate from the video so much to the point where it not only minimizes what you’re watching but it took me pressing the ‘back’ arrow multiple times just to get back to the video, and how you’re notified when you receive replies to your comments and the link doesn’t take you to the reply! I know Patreon doesn’t set the prices of what creators make their tiers, or maybe they do I don’t know, but for how much I pay a month, there shouldn’t be as many glitches and bugs as this app has. It’s ridiculous.
Patreon is ok. The patreon app is okay. I think there are some basic features that should be upgraded that would significantly improve the user experience. Firstly, if you use Apple CarPlay and want to listen to anything on Patreon. Be prepared to constantly have the audio speed up. The. You have to log out of the app and delete it from your phone, re-download and login for it to maybe work again. Then all your progress has been lost and you have to guess where you were and which episodes you have listened to. It’s obnoxious. Also, even when you still have some of that progress you can’t easily jump back to where you were playing you have to scroll forever to find what you want rather than the app being smart enough to take you where you left off. I’m only here to listen to CJ and TCO. Otherwise I would not be.
Disgustingly featureless and difficult to use. First, let me say this review is in no way negative towards the content creators, this is wholly directed towards the developers of the Patreon app / platform of which I have subscribed to various creators off and on for at least 7 years. Why is there no ability to auto-play the next video? Why is there no ability to create playlists, or a list of your favorites? Why is there no ability to set default parameters globally one time instead of constantly having to manually set individual parameters for every single video you watch? Why isn’t there a Patreon app for ANY smart tv platform?? Here’s why this is frustrating. Imagine you have a 86” smart tv that you want to play videos from a content creator who has hundreds of short 2 to 3 minute video clips, and you want them to auto play one after another all in full screen at 1080p resolution, so you can be snuggled up in your sauna blanket and not have to keep unzipping the thing to come halfway out of it every 2 minutes to spend 10 minutes clicking to play the next 2 minute video!!! Literally it’s ridiculous, a video ends and you have to press minimize, then back, then click on the next video, then pause it so you can maximize it to full screen, then click on the settings gear and set the resolution because it will not default to the highest, then press play; rinse lather and repeat. It should be as simple as setting up global parameters for screen size and resolution, pick one video and press play, then when that video ends it auto plays the next, and then the next, until you purposely stop it. Suppose you have a gym and you want to project a creators repo of videos onto a large screen so people on cardio machines can watch inspirational / motivational images. Folks - this app has been around for at least 7 years, how on Earth have none of these extremely basic features never dawned on any of you developers over there??? Fix it, would ya!!!!
App setup and functionality could be way better. I’d give this app like 4/10 on user friendly scale. It would be lower if it wasn’t already such a simple app. Could improve a lot if there were easy ways to search posts by when they were posted or scroll between months/days easily. Would also be nice if it would show what you’ve already watched. I use Patreon for one podcast, I know there’s a lot of other creators and media types involved, but I don’t think it would be beyond question to have a functionality that shows if you’ve already viewed a video or post, or that allows you to sort or filter by unviewed. Gets kinda buggy randomly. Which wouldn’t be crazy annoying except if I’m watching an episode from 2020 and it glitches and then I have to scroll back and try to find it again because as I said, that function is trash.
Not sure what’s going on. I love the pattern app. It’s always worked well and never had any problems. Until this last update. I went to use it and it worked fine initially, but when I left the app and had it in the background for a bit. I go back to use it later and it takes me to the main page and freezes. Can’t move the screen, can’t tap to go to any pages. I tried clearing cache, I uninstalled and reinstalled, signed in and it worked but it did the same thing again. I back out and come back later and the apps frozen. Tried signing out after reinstalling. Sign back in and once again the same issue. No matter what I do after leaving it in the background it freezes and I have to uninstall and reinstall to fix it but issue keeps happening. Not really sure what’s to do at this point.
Sign In with Apple broken? Update: Works. How do I log in with Apple if Sign Up with Apple isn’t an option? I’d like to support a Patreon and do not have an account. When I press “Continue with Apple” it always replies “Something went wrong”. I cannot tell if it’s a bug or if I did something wrong. Update: Thank you for the speedy response. I don’t have an account so I don’t have Patreon email to send to you. This isn’t a critique, I genuinely want to know - why would I Sign In with Apple if I already had an account? I was hoping to create an account via “Sign In with Apple”. That’s my mistake. I realize now it doesn’t say Sign UP with Apple”. Seems odd to have one without the other though. Thanks again for the response. Update 2: Continue with Apple works. Dunno if the update fixed it or if it was because I reinstalled the app. Thanks devs.
Some glitches. While it is nice to be able to see what the creators posted without having to open the website, there are some drawbacks on the app. Unlike the website, the app doesn’t have a filter so there are times when you wouldn’t be able to see some of the contents from the creators if you were gone for a few weeks and the creators post multiple daily. There is also a glitch where the app will give you notifications stating that there are new or unseen contents from creators when I have already seen everything. And then there is also an overwhelming flood of notifications on your phone whenever the creators post contents for patrons of and you will see how the creators post something for all of the different tiers. That said, I still like the app quite a lot. I just hope that patreon fixes those glitches they have soon as they are bugging quite a lot.
Inexcusable for no feed order settings. You can login on the website (not the app) and be able to order the feed by oldest to newest, by month, year, and by subscription tier content. NOT TO MENTION: no option to increase playback speed on app? Why is none of this available on the app? The app also will for some reason reset (?) and send me all the way back to the most recent post by the creator and I have to scroll ALL THE WAY back to the beginning. Terrible and considering the site has these settings, what are you guys doing over there with your time? How is this not one of the very first quality of life changes you add to the app? Really don’t like giving people my money when I feel they’re doing a terrible job with basic things one should expect. Will be getting through this content on the site as quickly as possible and hopefully not coming back (at least it won’t be on the app!). Get it together!!
Color and Design. I’m a designer and I speak color. I love the recent platform and UI edits, and the new podcast ep visual is only getting better. But I still can’t understand or get comfortable in the black and red scheme these days. Notifications on red banners look like warnings and keep scaring me, and since most creators on patreon are artists/comedians/podcasts, this bright coral red just seems like a jarring choice that doesn’t express the fun, independent nature of the users. The platform serves as a haven for independent creators and right now it feels like they’re uploading content to an evil/angry Death Star environment, or a pirated movie website. Whereas the old orange was a little too pink but almost signified “work in progress” to me, in a good way. Like each creator was working on something, inviting new people behind the scenes. Maybe “backstage pass” would be a fun theme to explore in general? Black/red feels like this content is a secret and shouldn’t be shared. Maybe that was the point? I don’t know. I definitely felt more like using the app when it was a lighter background. Now I feel like I’m doing something illegal. Maybe each creator could customize the colors of the elements on their page to relate to their content? Or just generally a more welcoming/creativity palette like orange-yellow gradients or some sort of green orange pairing? Blue/yellow maybe? Even if you stick with black and white (I love the app icon), maybe lighten up the personality with a lighter serif font or something? Anyway, sorry for the long comment. I know designers LOVE feedback lol The platform itself is a godsend. All creative work is work in progress. Keep it up! - Baylor Watts
Nightmare to navigate. So many people complain about the same thing. It’s not a smart app, basically. This is my story. Tiers. I’m just trying to add or edit tiers. So it’s inaccessible unless you go to your profile, which you can see your own tier. And join your own tier. Where is the edit button? It’s so hard to find... I still don’t know how to navigate. The web version is a nightmare too. The dev team of Patreon do Not Know what they are doing when it comes to usable apps, user interface or structure of their own system. It’s so hard to use. Confusing and it’s just not organized properly. A lot of functions are not easy to find. Where they Got it, is for example, the message section. Two segments, as a patron, and a creator. Smart. Makes sense. Nice execution of user experience driven system design. The rest. Is. Nightmare. I’m a harsh critic because I do have hope in Patreon. Just... they need to really think How confusing their system is. (Web and app)
Leronzo Williams. I love the patron but I have to give it up to Trap and his team, trap has changed my whole mindset and is chasing my life. If you want to learn how to make your money work for you tune into the courses, trappin Tuesdays, trappers anonymous, options master class and the best thing about this is you can buy etfs to make money while your learning or better yet join the Parton and do what trap do while your learning and making money. I feel like Trap is going to the plug with money money and bringing the product back to me but very very very soon I’ll be going to the plung myself because I’m understanding better and better everyday. Thank Trap I feel like we grew up together like neighbors ok enough of that let me get back in this kitchen..
