SimplePractice for Clinicians Comments & Reviews 2026

I love this program!. In my opinion, Simple Practice is a fantastic practice management system. The app is an added benefit, and wouldn’t be the only way to work with this highly capable system. I recently shifted from keeping all of my files, records, schedules, etc. on paper. It took a couple weekends to get fully up to speed. But wow!! It’s completely worth the investment of time. Because the program can do so much, it’s important to view all the tutorials to get fully acquainted. The system is set up with several checks and reminders regarding billing claims, notes, etc. In just a few weeks of using it, I’ve found a few claims I would’ve missed in my previous way of record keeping. So already it’s saving me money. In under two minutes following a session, I can dictate a note, bill and log a copay, and file a claim. Incredibly simple. I’m really having fun with this program. I feel as if I hired an entire administrative staff! Also, the design is aesthetically pleasing, elegant, and beautiful. My clients love the reminders, the ease of scheduling, and the access to invoices through the portal. Several people have complimented the ease of the portal experience. And I love that we no longer play phone tag; It saves time and creates a more fluid scheduling experience. I can’t say enough. I really love Simple Practice. Thank you!

Not a SIMPLE PRACTICE to use. Agree with reviews that are less than stellar. Can’t change an invoice. So my records from Simply Practice can’t be sent to my CPA. Coaching doesn’t need the same insurance billing style and limited add ons. During a session client can choose 30 more minutes but this app has no “SIMPLE” process for changing the session invoice. It only offers “EDIT” client information. Any complaints get lengthy emails with more long winded videos to watch. Who has time for that?! Needs obvious and quick resolve on same page. Not user friendly. Apparently, product launched and the designers failed to pull potential non-IT trained clients in to observe if user friendly. Contacted Stripe for these issues and was told I need to be a programmer to make it work the way I need it—programmer? Really? I’ve never needed to be a programmer with PayPal. Unreal. Now to add—don’t depend on the little weather forecast. Today is a high of 23. The reminder says 66. Like so much of this program. It’s very unreliable. Now I have to download all of my input and reload into another company. Do your research.

Better than the rest but still lacking. Biggest complaint: system goes down during workday and company will not respond responsibly by explaining the outages and discounting service fees by a small nominal amount to acknowledge the lost sessions and frustrations for all. 2nd major issue: it’s just not intuitively designed from the start, and many times trying to change some setting or default workflow that should be easy to find and change ends up buried in hidden layers- in a way it reminds me sometimes of Epic, and if you’ve ever been forced to use that system, you know what I mean.

Great but having an issue with seeing reminders. This app is very convenient snd allows me to easily take pictures of documents and client artwork and add it to notes. Overall I love this program. However, my issue over the last year+ has been that the mobile app will show that I have notifications (it shows a number on the corner of the app icon) and when I go to check in the “reminders” tab, it either never shows me reminders or it shows old reminders that do not match the number of notifications and are NOT up to date (they’ll be weeks or months old). How do I resolve this? My concern is that I am missing out on getting important up to date reminders from/for clients. I do not want to have to use the desktop version every time- it defeats the purpose of having the mobile app!

An imperfect game changer. Since using Simple Practice, my earnings have gone from minimal to substantial. In the past, I used a billing service that charged me 10% of all billed services, whether collected or not. I am terrible at tracking authorizations and documentation. Simple practice has been a game changer in all of these areas. I am pleasantly stunned to find that I actually can earn some income from my work. I am also pleased that I know what documentation has been completed, and what has not and can customize how I document based on the requirements of the pay sources (SOAP, DAP, etc.). The drop down menu for mental status exams and pre populated CMS forms are incredibly convenient. I have added the APA cross cutting symptom measure as part of the intake packet that I send electronically to new clients. Taken together, my practice is so much more organized and streamlined. The only drawback is the clunkiness of moving between menus and screens. I’m still not entirely clear about how to access some features. However, the help option nearly always provides the answer I need. If you are not the most organized person in the world, and do not love filling out those insurance forms, this could be the solution for you.

Awesome app and service! It’s an easy get-set-go. Love how quick we were able to get our EHR up and running with now having Mobile Apps for clients/telehealth! Keep improving Simple Practice—-we are looking forward to long years of practice with you guys! Hope next step is to actually have Intake Care Coordinators available on demand for busy private practices. Let us know if you do already. We need Client Care help too..Thanks for developing such a user-friendly platform for our small mental health clinic!

Good until they started price gouging. SP lost 2 stars in my book for their abrupt and unexplained decision to begin charging an additional $30/mo. for 2-way calendar sync. Many, many people were infuriated by this and understandably so. With any company it might feel cheap and underhanded. But given my prior experience with SP, where I typically felt supported and considered, this move felt particularly painful, exploitative even. It’s not as easy as just switching platforms, and they of course are well aware of this. The ol’ bait and switch it would seem, or how else to think about it? Regardless, I have chosen to stick with SP, functionally-speaking, though I now do so begrudgingly, one more tick in the ever-widening “profit over people” box that has become our healthcare system. Shame on you SP. If you need more money, just raise our rates, and gradually so, like every other sensible business. Or if you’re going to tear us a new hole, at least as some bells and whistles, some sparkle, something to distract us. It just, it almost feels cynical. Ok, I’ve been sitting on that for awhile now, thanks for reading.

Review. The reason that I put one star is because the system is not at all supportive of a therapy practice that has multiple clinicians. In my practice we cross refer and share clients that have different specialties. Trying to address this in SP is so disappointing and frustrating for the client. A client can only access one clinician’s schedule and secure message. The only solution is to make a client have a new profile for every clinician in my practice? That’s a completely impractical and nonsensical thing to ask a client to maintain 2 or 3 logins and passwords because they see more than one clinician at my office. Also, having parents and children being seen at my office is also a system nightmare, having to assign an email to a 5 year old child? There has to be improvements made to your system for group practice and dealing with client profiles that are minors. I hope you are working on these fixes, otherwise we will have to find a more comprehensive system. So disappointed.

From Group to Solo Practice. I used Simple Practice while I was with a group practice I worked with in the past. I totally believe in your software because it does exactly what you describe. It’s very convenient to have it connected to my phone and be able to respond immediately by getting my messages, appointment reminder and the option to change/ reschedule appointments. Now I am moving towards a 100% telehealth practice and I am looking forward to using Simple Practice again.

Business owner. Love most of this product. I own a group practice and the only calendar I can access in the app is mine. So when I hear from a client from one of my clinicians about cancelling or switching to a video session, I have to log in on my phone's web browser in order to make that change. All while ignoring a pop up message on the bottom of the screen saying "use the app for better functionality." It's 2023. It's embarrassing for Simple Practice to not have an administrator access to everyone's calendar from the app at this point.

It’s okay. Even with updates to add billing features the insurance payment system is severely lacking both in the site and the app. Confusing and unintuitive. On the app there are no insurance payment features - marking things paid or received. Same on the site. If an ACH comes through, which is hit or miss, it isn’t marked paid unless it’s the exact amount you have listed as your fee. There’s no way to mark a session paid manually and when I add a insurance payment manually it still doesn’t change to paid half the time. So all the reports and analytics are inaccurate on the site as well. Very frustrating. TherapyNotes is a good alternative.

Give $50, get $50 NOT as advertised. If you are a member and refer a colleague to Simple Practice, both you and the colleague are suppose get a $50 credit if the colleague subscribes to SP. I was the colleague and subscribed and did not get the $50 credit. I contacted SP and they sent me a link to an information page (get use to this, there is no live customer support provided, you cannot call them for customer support, only email, and almost all responses are a link to a generic pre-written article you already had access to on the website). The article they sent me about the offer said that the credit would be given once I RENEW the subscription. I pointed out the discrepancy in wording and they simply disagreed. I was really surprised by their response. It seems like a good product so far so I thought they would at least say we will take a look at this potential issue. Instead, they denied there was a discrepancy in the wording. I opened the app today and the wording for the offer is still the same. It’s too bad. Pretty good software but misleading advertising and unwilling to take customer concerns seriously. Also, consider the email only customer support in your decision.

Review. This EHR is very frustrating, because problems are addressed by email only. Trying to schedule with a live person is a process. When you have a question, you’re forced to submit a help ticket or email to schedule a call. I’ve scheduled calls and had the SP staff forget to call. I’ve had the same 2 significant issues for over a year with no resolution. The SP staff sends pictures of what to do or a video link. If I had 30-60 minutes for every issue, that would work. I’m busy and don’t have that kind of time to invest in something that could be answered on a 5-10 minute call. When I attempted to change EHRs, the new company couldn’t download my SP files, due to SP having such a difficult program. I was left with starting over and scanning hundreds of documents into a new EHR or staying with SP. Again, time is an issue. I have more client issues with the portal and billing email process than any other problem related to my office. There’s been nothing “simple” for me about this EHR. I feel like I work for their company, when it should be the other way around. Needless to say, I’m very frustrated!!!

No reliable customer support. I was having calendar syncing issues so contacted customer support. I told them everything about the issue and my phone. She had no knowledge of iPhones, which should have been a warning. She gave me instructions that duplicated all my appointments and made it impossible to delete them, except one by one. All 486 of them. I escalated the situation. The next person offered nothing and said it was my fault and there was nothing they could do and nothing they would offer to compensate. I escalated again and got an email from a manager saying the same with no help. They didn’t even resolve the original problem!! Just made it worse and offered nothing. Stunning.

Would like to read documents in the app. The app on my phone makes work so much easier than it has been in the past, so it’s hard to complain about anything but it would be helpful to be able to read completed documents and session notes from the past. If there is a way to do that, I have not figured it out yet.

Poor App Support and Scheduling. I am an LCSW with a busy practice. If you rely on the app for scheduling and Watch integration, my recommendation is to look elsewhere. The app is buggy still and requires login multiple times per day. After months of reportedly working on it with their developer, they decided it was not worth their time due to “the complexity of the issue.” I asked for calendar integration until they got the bugs worked out with the app and was eventually told to kick rocks. As a former IT professional and current customer, this to me is an unacceptable response. I love a lot of things about the service, but for scheduling, there are better options until they get this issue resolved.

Video, audio problems and billing issues. Video and audio quality far inferior to microsoft Teams or Google Duo/meet and a lot of telemed providers / businesses are going the way of Microsoft Teams. On top of that, the program sends bills when I don’t want it to despite unchecking those boxes. It marks statements as paid if the patient is marked as having insurance. Well, I don’t know that until I actually get paid. May have to pay deductible or copay or gotten bad information and is actually denied. So at 6 months with this ... I am still in the I really really WANT this to work but so far it’s close but Im not thrilled. :/

Life Saver. This app makes it so much easier to run my practice and stay on top of things with minimal hassle. Since I don’t have a lot of storage room in my office for files, it saves a lot of space by keeping records electronically. It also helps me to communicate securely with clients, and automates reminding them of appointments, some billing, etc. I wish it had a few more features (e.g., allowing separate numeric and verbal descriptor fields for electronic form/questionnaire answers so the app could score measures on its own), and I wish I could send weekly copies of a single measure to clients and also customize the look of my client portal more (add my logo, rearrange visual location of things) but overall it’s great.

There are some drawbacks. Overall, Simple Practice is great. There are a lot of thought out features. Then there are the frustrating aspects of the program like when I’m doing therapy with two or more siblings, the program requires different email addresses. There’s nothing where we can link them together...use one portal access per household. It would also be convenient if there was some way to see all future appts listed in the clients’ portal or to print the dates off. It only will show the next five session dates, rather then being able to scroll through all of them.

iPad Version Needed. I think this app has a lot of potential, however, with the influx in tablet use in the professional world it is shocking that this app is not iPad compatible or that there is not an iPad specific app. Going to the website each time is a hassle. Please update the app or make an iPad specific one. **************** The developer's response to this was to simply use the website and create a shortcut. This would be great except it still requires the use of the website. A main purpose of an app like this is to eliminate needing to use the website. The website is fine but an app would be a lot cleaner on iPad.

Great practice software. Simple Practice really does make the business side of my practice so much simpler. It’s amazing to be able to send intake paperwork electronically through the client portal and read the responses before our first session. I also love the text/email reminder system to remind clients of appointments. It’s so helpful to have my calendar, notes, billing, and paperwork all organized in one place. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because it did take me a while to learn and wasn’t as intuitive as I had hoped. They have a lot of great tutorials and are so happy to help via email but don’t have phone customer support at this time.

Great and Useful. I love the new dynamic type feature. Sometimes I do find myself writing my notes from within the app. It's much easier to do now that I can set the type size. Thank you, SimplePractice, for your continual improvements to the program and to this app. I use this app all the time when I'm away from my computer. I can see my schedule, enter client payments and write my notes. I value the additional password protection feature. I can set my client appointments to show in iCal with only initials. The support from the developers is incredible and they are constantly updating features. I highly recommend this app if you use SimplePractice as your practice management software.

Simple Practice. This EMR product has made managing my physical therapy practice a dream!! The patient portal allows my patients to schedule or cancel appointments on their time. Patients love picking the appointments that suite them. The secure credit card processing is so efficient. The note taking allows me to use voice to text ! I can down load imaging and patient medical history documents easily. I am blown away s how much it has impacted my practice!! Thank you!!

Night and Day Difference for Our Group Practice. After years with our old EHR our group practice finally made the switch to SP last August. Not a fun process, but honestly, WHY didn’t we do this sooner? SP has been a game-changer for us. We pay far less than our old platform but get SO much more functionality. Billing out is no problem for our 9 clinicians with very little admin support and the client portal has streamlined our communication with clients so much that it saves us loads of time. The app is a bit function-lite (as an owner I wish we could check others’ schedules and see claims) but is solid and works well. It is awesome to be able to quickly check my schedule and see if any of my clients have messaged me to cancel. And if I forget to run a payment I can do that too from the app. It was also awesome to be able to drop our contract with Zoom because the teletherapy function in SP works fantastic and is seamlessly integrated within the platform. I am immensely grateful for Simple Practice and how much it has improved our work as therapists and our clients’ experience. Thank you, SP!

Needs work, but has some very useful features.. Overall this app has had steady improvement and had useful features often on par with the desktop version. However there were several issues which prevent me from eating g it higher. My biggest issue is that each day I must set up the app security again. I have to log in, select Touch ID, set up a pin and then I can use Touch ID to log in - until the next day when I am forced to do it again. It is as if all my settings are erased each night. I use Touch ID with many apps from many different developers and this is the only app that behaves this way. I have commented on this before, but the response I received from simple practice was that this is a security feature. Their response made no sense and this has been an issue for about a year so perhaps my iPhone is special. A second issue that occurs is that at times message are perpetually “syncing.” I have to log out and back in for them to stop syncing or sync correctly, however you want to look at it. Finally, they tend to use some non-apple interface standards that can be a bit confusing at times. For example the calendar would be much better if it worked more like iCal. Overall the app provides significant functionality, more than expected, and is a useful tool. I wish it was a bit less frustrating at times.

Review. I like Simple Practice’s layout. I also like the calendar feature & case notes; as well as the ability to audio dictate. I don’t like that I can’t call in and talk to a representative for support. I am an audio learner & really need the ability to speak to a live person. I also feel more supported having live support. I also don’t like that you have to scroll through the times on the scheduling system. It would be great to punch in the time. If these two features were available, I think it would be pretty close to perfect.

Desktop program is more usable but the program is good. I use SP to manage my practice and I find it to be very usable, although the layouts took me some getting used to. Now it works like a charm for me in doing paperless intakes, billing and scheduling. My main complaint is about the mobile app. The calendar function on the phone is not nearly as good as the desktop one. Since SP is eliminating the calendar sync from the first two pricing tiers, I was hoping I could just use their calendar function in lieu of my google calendar but that won’t be possible on the app because it doesn’t give a weekly view. Hoping they will change this functionality soon.

Used to be a great platform, now not so much. The app is ok, you can do Telehealth via it and check your calendar. Nothing too special. The company is under new ownership seems more focused on earning money than their customers’ experience using the product. They introduced a new pricing structure that manipulates users into having to pay a lot more to maintain the same features they are used to paying. As a solo practitioner I would have to pay $99 a month (a 40% increase) to maintain what I had prior. The price increase would add nothing I would want or use. Customers bought this issue up when they introduced the new plans and SimplePractice made it clear they were not listening to our concerns, told us it was better for our “journey,” and then censored voices that were not complimentary to them. They have since been focusing on a lot of bells and whistles (website, directory, etc) and not focusing on what they were known for- a solid EHR. There have been a lot of bugs lately which they are also glossing over. Choose a different EHR, one that respects their customers.

A few current things. The app in its current state is pretty decent. After iOS 14, my battery gets incredibly hot while doing telehealth sessions via SimplePractice. So hot that I have to shut my camera off with my client and then it cools. I think that’s a programming issue, because I have done these sessions in various places, while charging and not charging my phone and each time I get the battery warning. The other issues are mostly just integrating more of the web browser features to the app. Looking at reports and editing more of the client files. Once these are fixed, I’d definitely raise my rating.

May 2018 updates have ruined the app. I haven’t had issues with the simplepractice app prior to the recent update. Now it freezes frequently and is essentially unusable. I have come to rely on the convenient app for all of my scheduling needs. Please work out whatever bugs are making it crash! Update: the developers seem to have fixed a lot of bugs with the new release, and the app is working well and looking great!

Minimalistic. Since this is an app review I’ll do that first… minimalistic app, nothing very fancy, which is OK but since it doesn’t have much of the functionality I need, I have to use the website anyway rendering the app pretty much useless. I can do a quick calendar change when needed or confirm an appointment but not much else. If you’re looking for a robust app that has similar features as the actual EHR, you’ll need to look elsewhere. Second, the company is awful. It used to be good but they started ignoring their customers needs and seem to be just focused on profits now. Huge price hike recently. Went downhill fast. I’m leaving the company for something better. They lost my business.

Great product! Only TWO requests!. First - I love SP! It’s SO easy to navigate and everything seems to flow and work as expected/needed! I love the notes from the calendar. I love the Task list to remind me of any missing or needed items. I am excited to switch to SP and look forward to the time/energy I will get back and be able to spend with my clients! Requests! #1 - PLEASE get an app for the iPad! I use mine 90% of the time and prefer it to my (awful) PC. When I try to sign in online (on iPad) it forces me to the IPhone app - which I will be deleting. It works beautifully on my phone but could be fully functional on iPad. Request #2 - MORE check boxes or prefilled options in the treatment plan - especially for the extra Wiley treatment plan! Don’t make me drag my book out. Other than that - thank you for a product that is easy to use/navigate and offers exactly what it says it will! AND thank you for a website that is so real and detailed! It was very easy to see what product I was researching and when I did free trial - i got exactly what I saw!

App freezing / Not opening. I have been using Simple Practice for over a year without any significant issues. Since the most recent update, the app has been freezing. After the app freezes, it will not open. If I turn my phone off and then back on, the app still will not open. The only way to get the app to open again is to uninstall/reinstall the app which is incredibly frustrating and impractical to have to do while I am face to face with a client. I am having to uninstall/reinstall the app every other time I use it which is unacceptable. This issue started happening this week after installing the most recent update. If this issue continues, I will consider switching to a new EHR. Update: Since updating the app, it is working well. I also appreciate the increased functionality of the app such as the ability to approve appointments.

Generally good. It’s stable and you can do many things on the app that you can do from your computer. Nice UX and pretty intuitive. One aspect is consistently frustrating, however: every time the app updates, your preferences for notifications and Face ID are reset. It’s annoying that I have to go back in and change my notification preferences (the only thing I want to be notified about is a message from a client)—but the Face ID setting being turned off is a security issue. I hope they are able to fix that in the next update.

SP app. Not sure why so many commented here on SP as a whole since this is meant for comments about the app. In terms of the app I love and constantly use it to check my schedule, message patients/families, make quick schedule adjustments, and have many times written my daily notes and billed through the app (especially when doing mobile therapy!!). My main issue with the app is I am unable to view the schedule of my therapist employee (meaning I have to use the website everytime to do anything with her schedule, resulting in time loss and annoyance). I wish the SP app would make it so I can see both of our schedules, like you can online. And include the same features to adjust their patient schedule, do their patient billing, access notes, etc all from the app. This would really be an amazing feature add. Thank you!

Do NOT buy!!!. They will bombard you with several emails a day to get you to pay for a subscription. I guess their product can’t speak for itself and they need to employ hard sell tactics. There’s no unsubscribing to the countless emails and they asked me to provide government ID! I had to contact iTunes and anti-spam government officials to try to have them stop harassing me. Hoping they stop. Worst company on APP store ever!!! Recently got a reply to this review saying you can unsubscribe with the unsubscribe option at the footer. If only!!!! That’s my issue there’s no unsubscribe button anywhere. And... I have to give government ID to unsubscribe to a trial date product I didn’t yet sign up for. They David I need to show IS due to banking info. I never added my banking info... scary!!!! I can not unsubscribe. I’m SIMPLY stuck with them for lifetime of emails.

Limitations. In the phone app, Too many limitations for making edits and seeing information in clients. Cannot make edit to add couple when setting up appointments. Cannot change appointment location once set. Cannot see client notes from previous sessions. AND, every nickname I try is already taken. Why not just assign a random number for anonymity rather than making me figure out which nickname hasn’t been taken. FRUSTRATING!

Great platform - some suggestions. I like SP so far and you have created a platform that works very well for on line registration, Telehealth, making appointments, etc. I would like to suggest you have a chat window available or respond to contacts by phone within a short period of time. My office needs assistance at times and has to wait sometimes a day or two to receive a response. That is a big problem, especially as she is trying to set up the practice on SP from another practice platform. Also it would help to have a way to change full names on the calendar to initials only. This would be more protective of privacy. Adding a window where to leave an internal note to admin in the practice would make fast communication easy. Right now we must open a note to read any internal communication. Color coding various different kind of appointment would be helpful to know at a glance which appointments are intakes, couple, testing, admin appointments, group, etc. Overall, you’ve created a very good platform. I hope to enjoy using it for years to come.

Desktop version. My review is for the desktop option as I don’t use the app. I started with the desktop version a year ago. Have been pleased with the program offerings and customer service. Only recently have I had the equipment to use an app. Due to familiarity of the desktop view and the app not being as robust as the desktop version, I continue to sign into my SimplePractice account. Customer service is responsive and follows up to see if you are satisfied. Lots of options to learn program features, such as blogs, customer user posts, videos, or weekly webinar events. Simple Practice is part of my team, not just my electronic health records program.

Scheduling needs work otherwise great. I schedule clients on my phone and if you go into the app you can’t see your hours of availability. My schedule varies from day to day so I need to have both the appointments I’ve already scheduled show up and slots that are open for that date show up when I’m scheduling. Correctly I have to log onto the website on my phone and go into week view where it’s shaded grey if it’s available. But, then I have to scroll over to see the time because that’s on the side. It’s frustrating. If my biller didn’t like it so much for her billing I’d change services. Everything else seems to work great. But, scheduling is one of the things I do every single appointment.

Sign in and video link issues. Inefficient and major time waster. The app use to work just fine but i can no longer sign in. I have to reset my password each time i want to sign in whether on the app or from the website. I’m also very unhappy about certain updates. I can no longer use the video link and go straight to the video session. With the new updates, I need to copy the link each time for each client, manually go to the video app and paste the link or it doesn’t work. When I click the video link directly, I just get redirected to the App Store now. Overall, the app wastes a lot of time. Please fix and address so I can update my review to a decent one.

Great Tool but only for a phone. Need IPad support. The app overall is great in concept. Unfortunately the video is not on par with zoom. I use an iPad Pro with keyboard to work. Sp supports landscape if you use a pc, and ironically used to support it on my iPhones and iPad, however a while back they ditched that and now only support portrait on iOS devices causing a significant loss of useable screen space. I don't like to squint. Also, as the app only truly supports iPhone, the other features, such as schedule present as iPhone screen and I have to either read side ways or turn my iPad to read...loosing my $300 Apple keyboard. I continue to use SP, because it is great at scheduling, notes, plans, and especially billing. However, I end up using Zoom as a second app just for the videos in landscape view. Sp could be the best app for my practice if they would just realize that most professionals are not conducting business from their phone, and that many professionals have traded in their full blown heavy laptops for iPad Pros. Such simple requests that they do not seem to catch onto.

Great service. I have had this EMR with SimplePractice for three years now. I learn more and more about the features that it has which helps me streamline and simplify my business So I can concentrate on my clients. I appreciate that Simple practice has continually made features of managing clients records easier and more simple. I am now using this program for telehealth counseling and I believe the cost is worth it for an extra $10 a month. The only complaint I have is that some of the auto reminder featuresCan be annoying and difficult to find in order to shut off even after clients stop working with me.

Good workflow. I don't have any experience with another similar platform but for what I use it for on a daily basis it gets the job done. As long as the company continues to listen to it's users and makes adjustments then I look forward to continued use of this app. Support seems responsive. Telehealth can have it's problems like the link is bad or offer similar issues but for the most part it works really well. I would like to see the video option work more like ZOOM though🙂.

Great Start. The app has been helpful however, there’s still a lot let to be desired in my opinion. I am able to write a note, and get some basic functions and billing completed however, the in depth the task gets I find myself moving to the desktop. Perhaps, that’s the purpose yet, I feel like there are some reasonable things I should be able to do with the app. Overall, I still find the app worthwhile to download and use in sessions. I look forward to seeing how the app develops.

Inconsistent and problematic. This is the most inconsistent EMR/EHR I have ever used. Input data and required steps for processing insurance, billing, etc different for each case, each service and inexplicably each appointment. Default settings don’t apply and then do apply. Invoices automatically populate and then don’t. Invoices link to payments and then don’t. Payments received then show up as not having been charged. Patients show bank account records that payments have been deducted from their accounts while the system shows that they weren’t charged. Not only confusing for all parties but jeopardizes business because patients don’t understand what is happening. I have two owners/directors who consistently disagree about what is causing the problem and consistently provide contradictory guidance about what to do.

Super convenient but some glitches. I love having SimplePractice on my phone so I can dictate notes and charge clients on the go. What I don’t love about the app is that you can’t access client intake forms or any client documents from your phone. You also can’t edit the session fee, make any refunds or delete invoices from your phone. I am an ecotherapist and often work outside. Because of the app’s limitations I have to print out my intake forms to review in the first session, which is inconvenient, a waste of paper, and a higher privacy risk. As someone with ADHD, the limitations of the phone app are very challenging for me, because when I notice something needs to be done I really need to do it on the spot. The phone app doesn’t make that possible and I often forget to complete important tasks because I tried it unsuccessfully on the app and then forgot about it.

Ok. SimplePractice started out very user-friendly, but as time has gone on, they’ve made adjustments which have made it user unfriendly. It’s almost impossible to talk to anyone who is actually live and can answer questions I have yet to find out what the phone number is for remote help and I have difficulty signing on with two different computers because it won’t accept the other sign on no matter what I do the audio and video is slow and very choppy on most of my Telehealth calls this was not true at a telehealth. What started out as an easy to use electronic medical record has turned into a very difficult system.

Wonderful. I just started a new psychology practice. This is a very nerve-racking venture, however, SimplePractice has made it about as easy as it can get. This was recommended to me by a colleague. When I first signed up, it looked somewhat daunting. As I started entering in my information, it became easier and easier. I have been using it actively for two days, therefore, I have not received any payments yet. If I actually receive a check from insurance, I’ll be floored because SimplePractice seems to take care of all interaction with insurance companies. I highly recommend using this as my clients have been really impressed with it as well.

To add to the value of this platform. Changes would greatly enhance this platform. Scheduling appointments, sending out reminders and activating the zoom meetings, is straightforward and effective. Setting up and activating the billing system is step learning curve, and then figuring out how to get assistance from people at simple practice is not simple. But once finally securing an online meeting, the people helping at simple practice are excellent - professional, clear and helpful. One great flaw and significant limitation for anyone who teaches, supervises or is seeking certification in many psychotherapy modalities, is Simple Practice does not have recording capabilities. I along with many others have posted questions about this and reached out to Simple practice. I have yet to figure out how to get a response to this. I along with many others have posted to the simple practice blog and reached out in other ways. How can the developers of simple practice be reached? And when will this recording need be addressed? Thank you for answering these queries.

Love the app, but wish it worked better on iPad!. Four stars instead of five because the iPad version is not usable in landscape mode.

Review. There are some options missing. 1. Fee collection: there should be option to process Credit card upfront in advance too. Currently there is only option under autopay is to process after appointment is over. A few times I noticed even after crisis card information collected at the time of appointment, stipe payment failed to go through after the appointment session and I lost the fees as client attend the session and stripe payment failed and no reason was given. I wish there should be option to acccept payment in advance too to avoid the failure of payment later. . Reminder of text/ voice; there should be more option to select they text or voice 2,3,4 in advance of the appointment time, currently there is no option less than 24 hours. Thanks

LOVE IT. AMAZING! I only wish there was an option to place etransfer for payment!

App won't load. Even with my cash cleared, everything synced, and everything else I can do, the app takes so long to load I just give up every time. Seems like they've had time to figure some things out but it's just not very useful yet.

Wouldn’t Switch If It Wasn’t Worth It. I just had a system that I have been using for nearly a decade make me upgrade to their latest platform. It was not great. I was so frustrated I looked at other systems. This one works amazingly well. Didn’t even look at others.

Please Provide Option to Add Therapist Signature to Consent Forms. I really like SP overall. However, in WA state, the consent form for therapy has to be signed by the client and the clinician. Currently, SP does not give the option for the Therapist to digitally sign any intake documents (unless I’m mistaken), so I have to download, sign, and re-upload these documents. I’d really love to see the option for a Therapist Signature in the drop down menu of the form creator. That would solve the problem easily.

First Year of Private Practice. I just completed my first year of my private practice that is solely telehealth. This program has been so beneficial setting up an easy to follow routine because it’s a one stop shop for all we need in one space. My billing agent and front office manager navigated SP easily as well for fast and efficient scheduling, claims, and billing.

User friendly!!. This app is so user friendly and allows me to quickly and easily access my schedule and documentation from my phone at anytime which is so convenient for keeping up on notes between patients without having to access a computer to do so!

Sharing some concerns. Lately been struggling with my one client that i still see with the online SimplePractice services and disappointed there’s not a lower fee for those of us that aren’t really doing online telehealth. I have one client left and I’m choosing to use Zoom instead. Also would love SimplePractice to have a program for Group, which is how my practice is shifting in 2024.

It’s a lifesaver. I’ve been a customer since May 2018, and words cannot express my gratitude for having such a resource. I didn’t grate it a five star because there is no phone customer service support. I’ve wasted a lot of time emailing back and forth when the issue could’ve been resolved in one conversation.

Provider. I love with this program has to offer but the one big frustration is that there is no easy way to get help quickly. I am a very busy practitioner and try to make phone calls whenever an opportunity arises out of the blue. They help is not available when I need it which makes getting questions answered and problem solve a very long,

Good program, Has made my like easier. Excellent software for my center, lots in the plus column. However they are still working out some features, but are open to feedback and appear to be working as quickly as they can when there are problems. I can recommend it.

iPad difficulties. The app is incredibly handy on my phone. I love being able to quickly pull up my schedule. I use an IPad with a keyboard to write my notes. My keyboard case is oriented horizontally. The app will only display vertically. I would like an option for it to display horizontally so that it is compatible with keyboard cases. As of now I have to log into SP on my browser, which is not as convenient.

SimplePractice and SmartPractice Pro are a dynamic combination!. I started using Simplepractice a year ago in my solo practice. It was a game changer. When I opened a group practice in July, I added SmartPractice Pro. I could not run my practice without the efficiency and thoroughness of these two systems. I also appreciate the many types of customer service that are accessible.

Price point too high for low use. I am happy with use. However, I don’t have many clients and I’m paying the same price as everybody else because I had to have a professional plan in order to do telebehavioral health. I believe they should have a different pricing point based on the amount of clients you have. The app is 5 stars price for 12 clients 1 star!!

Please help this app. I am a practitioner who relies on Simple practice for running my private practice. I really enjoy the scheduling features and how practical it is at keeping things all organized and in one place. This app however is not up to standard and really needs a lot of work. Please update it for functionality (note taking, navigation, photo scanning, etc).

Most features don’t work. It’s basically just a fancy calendar to check your schedule. Can’t add clients, can’t schedule appointments, can’t see messages (I mean, the options are there, but they don’t work). I have to get my laptop out & login to the website to use those features. So what’s the point of having the app besides just to check my schedule 😒

This program seems to have a mind of it’s own.. I have had several problems with this software. I have set my modifiers in the clients file many times just to not have that information be automatically put in the claim and because you think it has been done you submit the claim, just to find out that it was not done correctly and I receive about $12 dollars less for the claim yet they are charging me over a hundred dollars a month. I should be charging them for their faulty software.

Hmmm….. Hmmm…. I am not completely sold on this calendar app. There are quite a few things that need improving. It would also be nice to be able to select color options. The app stays long-ways instead of rotating. Every time you want to use the calendar you have to relog in on safari, which takes too much time. When you ask question to customer service they don’t respond quickly. I wish I could get someone to help answer questions.

I love it!. SimplePractice has been with me since the getgo of my private practice. It is intuitive and training is available in the moment via quick and easy to understand videos. I wouldn’t be without SimplePractice as a provider!

Truly SIMPLE practice. I can’t believe I resisted switching to EMR for so long. My colleague and I both switched our practices at the same time and are absolutely in love!!! Truly the best investment I’ve made in a while! Saves me SO much time and the auto prompts in assessments and paperless intakes are game changers plus clients really are enjoying it! I feel like they will soon add group components to tele-health option but for right now I’m still so pleased.

Good, BUT……. I just downloaded the latest version using with ios15.1, and I am no longer able to type in the time when scheduling new appointments, I can only use the “wheel”. This takes additional time, and is annoying to flip and attempt to land on the correct time. Could you please add the number pad back in?!?! Otherwise I love the app, makes time management and appointments really easy!!

There were a few bugs w the recent update. Recently there were a few bugs with their most recent ap update. It made parts of the ap unusable for a couple of days which impacted my ability to respond adequately w clients. That being said, within a couple of days the bugs were fixed and now it is running smoothly again. In general Simple Practice has been wonderful and I use to daily to run and manage my practice. I highly recommend it.

Best software. Simple Practice is the best software ever. Telehealth allows me the flexibility to see more ppl even when I’m not feeling well from home. I’m also Licensed in two states, so it’s perfect for me to cut down on road trips. There’s so many options in the software to help you efficiently and effectively run a good practice. I love it!

Consistent improvement!. This app gets a lot of attention and loving care! It’s constantly being improved. I do wish I could see the client’s chart instead of having to log into the web app. There are still a few things that are critical to be able to access in the app, but it’s really well done.

Video chat problems. Love simple practice, but the teletherapy option has problems. I’ve not yet been able to see a couple (where each spouse is on a different screen) without severe audio problems, so we always end up on Zoom instead. The teletherapy interface could also use some basic capabilities like chat or a whiteboard.

Absolutely Genius. Thank you so so very much for creating this platform. This has taken my practice to the next level. I have seen program with less cost so much more! This portal has been such a delight to use and my clients love it! The though and effort put into this program is absolutely phenomenal! I can’t say thank you enough.

Insane!. Everytime I go into Simple Practice, I think it gets deeper. Someone on their team is a therapist and they’re designing THE ULTIMATE therapeutic tool to assist mental health professionals. I’ve used one other program and it’s just not as robust as Simple Practice. The team at SP is constantly innovating this platform and I anticipate more great product roll outs!

Incredibly buggy: I suspect SP is being "frugal". Chronic Bugs (all of which I've reported, some literally years ago) which leads me to believe that they don't really want to spend what it takes to have a superior platform: - log in and client can't see me or vice versa (and no, they/I haven't mistakenly hit the "hide video" button) and yes I've cleared the cache... etc -try to log in and it jumps/transfers over to the Telehealth app instead (as if I were the client) -chronic pixelation (and when I am thus forced to connect via an alternative app-> I get instant clarity). I cross my fingers every time I log in. The number of times there's a glitch varies depending on the day, from 20% to 90% of the time. There is literally NOT A SINGLE DAY that something doesn't go wrong. We've all used zoom. It works. Maybe you've forgotten a pin etc... but IT WORKS CONSISTENTLY

It is simple, but but has everything you would need!. The Simple Practice app has all the components I need to run my small business on the go. It is helpful for adding appts or checking my schedule quickly without pulling out the laptop. I’m very satisfied with the Simple Practice App.

Pretty good app. I just wish they were more helpful tools when I run into snags or questions or I could just chat with somebody immediately and not a robot or automated artificial intelligence. And if it’s not on the list and I don’t get my answer that I mailed actually able to get an answer within 12 or 24 hours. But other than that I really like it

No iPad update. Also it has much less functionality compared with the desktop site but when you try to sign into desktop it directs you to the application. As an owner I can only look at my own client list via app. Anyway I’m grateful to have it but in 2024 this could be better.

Great tool for therapists. First of all, I love SimplePractice - it has totally organized me and I would give the desktop version 5 stars. The app is fine - I love that I can write all of my notes on my phone if I don’t have my computer. It just doesn’t have all of the features of the desktop version, but I do love having it.

Mixed experience. I’ve been using this frequently and it’s extremely helpful to get work done on the run. However.... I can’t tell you how many times I’ve lost my work. It’s incredibly frustrating that you don’t have a built in mechanism that saves frequently and also that you have to complete the entire progress note in order to save it... or you’ll lose the whole thing. Life is full of interruptions and cell phone dead zones... wouldn’t these be obviously necessary to build in your app?

Taking a little while to figure. Taking a little while to figure out how it works… until I get my practice up and running the cost is hitting a little hard… I like the added website though! Genius idea! I haven’t finished it yet but working on it…also I think one of my patients sent me a message but I can’t find it.

Simple Practice. I have really enjoyed using Simple Practice’s electronic health record, compared to two other EHR I’ve used, one past and one current. It says what it is, SIMPLE. The developers continue to make improvements and keep customers up-to-date with what’s new. I recommend Simple Practice for providers.

Amazing EHR Platform! Needs iPad app ASAP!. A solid EHR platform that has been a game-changer for managing my practice—intuitive design, easy to use, and helps me stay organized. However, it would be even better with support for an iPad app for more flexibility during sessions. Looking forward to seeing this added in the future along with widgets and native mac/desktop integrations!

Mediocre. Simple Practice is the type of company that wants to be everything to everybody. Unfortunately, most of their features leave a lot to be desired. Calendaring, for example has terrible capabilities for a group practice. Another example is their integration of Stripe, and their hijacking of Stripe accounts that were already established by current clients, with the inability to do APIs in to accounting software. Complete disaster, left many practices in a bind. I could go on, but although we continue to use Simple Practice, I long for the day when we can say goodbye to them.

Newest update has a glitch. Since the most recent update, I wake up every morning with the little red 1 in the top right corner of this app icon, the one that usually tells me that I haven't completed a note. Except that when I open the app, there is no notification and the red dot clears. Please fix this glitch!

Really well done, but. . .. This app is clearly developed for the mobile era, and feels and works really effectively for managing a practice period. Fabulous integration of all things necessary. I would rate it a 5 if it had a native iPad app as this would allow for more features such as on screen completion of documents, signing etc (for face to face) as well as comfort for this form factor. Nice going simple practice and get that native app going!

Awesome app but kicks me out all the time. This is definitely a big bonus to the overall SP subscription and I use it on the daily to manage my practice. It’s amazing having something on my phone to quickly write messages to client and move appointments last minute without needing to be by my computer. The only issue I’ve found is that recently it keeps kicking me out so I’ve missed some notifications I otherwise would have seen or pushed notified right away.

Many years with simple practice. This EHR takes care of all if the moving parts of the practice, with many options for a smooth process before and after the session.

Wonderful Experience!. This app really allows you to administrate your practice and keep up with many of the important aspects of your practice on the go! It complements the Web app nicely and I look forward to the secure messaging as a feature that supposed to happen soon...

This used to be a great app. If this were a few years ago, I would have given SimplePractice 5 stars. But in trying to increase their market they now cater to mostly large, multi-practitioner organizations. It is now far from simple. It’s incredibly tedious and very easy to make mistakes with. The worst part is that they make these changes without any warning or input from the people relying on their software for their business. Sadly, I would not recommend SimplePractice to any practitioner.

Excellent all around!. I truly love the simplicity in using this EMR! But don’t let the clean look and ease of use fool you, SimplePractice is also a very powerful tool for automating your practice. Don’t want to worry about awkward money exchanges, use autopay and never get handed a credit card again. SimplePractice has so many great features and can easily be used by the tech savvy and the not so savvy as well. I highly recommend it for your private practice.

Great software. After using many of the free trials for practice management softwares that are on the market, SimplePractice was by far superior, in ease of use, options and flexibility, professional look and beyond awesome customer support. I spent this past summer playing with the top programs out there, and my final decision was easy... SimplePractice

It could be better. I like it and it’s semi-easy to use. They should add the option to add different colors to help sort clients. Like the new one from the established ones. Also maybe for it to change colors once it has been billed to know what notes are pending.

So Far So Good. I’ve been using SimplePractice for about a month and it’s really great, it’s simplified soooooo many things with my functional medicine practice. The only downside I’ve seen so far is the lack of iPad support. Yes, you can use the application on your iPad but it’s clearly designed for iphone. You have to use the web version on the iPad. I know competitors of SimplePracitce have dedicated iPad apps so I would love to see SimplePractice have one of their own!

Annoyed. There customer service is horrible!!!!! You have to email them for customer support and wait 24-48 hours for a response. Then when you get a response they ask you questions and misconstrue what you say. I have to keep explaining the issue multiple times before they get it right. Good luck getting anything accomplished. They say they process your funds daily, but that’s not true. So if you have credit card transactions Friday thru Sunday you won’t get your funds until Wednesday. That doesn’t seem to be daily.

Update needed!. There’s been a change that makes billing harder. In the Evening Summary and Agenda for Today, when you click on the links it use to take us directly to the client’s chart. Instead, now it takes us to the calendar on the app so we don’t know which client it is. Please change this! I’m having to match the client’s initials in the email to the schedule. This is so inefficient and a huge waste of time.

Couldn’t function without it!. The software is so amazing and the customer service is the best. It has taken me some time to learn all the features and every time I discover a new one it seems they have thought of everything. And if I have a question they answer very thoroughly and always with kindness. I feel like it’s the best valued product in my life right now.

Great app except for one thing. I love that there is an app for this ehr, but I really wish administrators were able to use it as well. We tend to schedule people whenever they call and being able to have our intake coordinator access the app to create charts and schedule appointments would be a tremendous help. Other than that, everything works very smoothly and the convenience is terrific.

Ease of use. I love SimplePractice and the app has added another ease to use and making my practice portable.. I love being able to dictate notes, create new clients and send intake paperwork all with the touch of a few buttons. I’m always thinking why didn’t I think of this 🤗.... I recommend it to everyone that’s struggling with multiple admin task because it’s a one stop shop for multiple administrative task being in Private Practice...
