Old version better. This new version of HDD Audio is terrible, the old version worked great. This one won’t connect to HAP-S1 player. The player itself is wonderful but this remote access is bad

Sony, you keep screwing up the app and the player. I have a PS Audio Stellar Gain DAC, and ONLY 18033R worked with the USB output Now, SONY upgraded the remote application, and it only now works with 18444R+ So, I either have no remote, or no USB output NOTE: 18444, which is suppose to fix USB output to certain devices, DOESN'T work with my 2016 PS Audio Stellar Gain Cell DAC. This all worked yesterday.

Junk. A great player that was designed with a useless UI. So one would think that the app was designed to be the critical interface. Unfortunately the app is super unreliable and connectivity is dodgy at best. Build a decent WiFi connection or a reliable app. The great player is mostly useless as a result

Connectivity Issues. I absolutely love my HAP Z1-ES and enjoy the remote app...when it works. It’s a great app with an intuitive interface, but has not been connecting to the player with increasing frequency. Sometimes in connects and then when you try to change songs or artists it can’t find the deck and won’t reconnect - forcing me to walk to the HAP Z1-ES to change selections. Super irritating. I have generally really appreciated Sony products over the years but this app has a fatal flaw. Shocking that Sony has not addressed the issue.

Window Prompts. On several of the window prompts, to confirm certain actions, for example, you cannot see the graphics for “Yes” and “No.”

The Worst. Unreliable. Rarely works.

Wifi appears to be fixed. The player functions and sounds great, it has been the wifi connection that was poorly executed. The update that came to it today appears to have fixed this. Update, still not working every time. Weird. Please fix the wifi!

Needs Improvement. Using this for HAP-Z1ES. Have a music library with roughly 9200 songs. That's a lot of music to sort through, so playlists are a useful means of organization. But the playlists capabilities of this app seem problematic. Deleting songs from a playlist is buggy. The selected song is not the one that gets deleted. That's almost inexcusable for a system that costs as much as this one does. Needs fixing fast for this product to be taken seriously. There is no shuffle mode for playlists. At least I couldn't find one. Please add this. Another bug see,s to be with organizing files in a playlist.

WiFi Issues. Hi Sony, Please fix Wifi issues. I have to do a hard reboot every time to get wifi connectivity - ruining a great music streamer due to networking challenges makes it a brick

Love It!. The corresponding Sony unit has liberated the beautiful music in piles of CDs that were collecting dust, has aggregated them in full resolution to a single media server, and this app gives me immediate access.

Awesome updates!. Folder view is all I wanted. Now I love the Z1ES even more.

Great apps. Most reviews here 1,2 years old . As of today 2018. This apps works great, people complaining about wifi it please set it to 2.4 and make sure you get good router . Even a laptop people still get problem with connection. I think it is human errors. Only thing I like to see the the improvements on the unit is add tidal and other things but the review here for apps not unit.

Great app!!!!. An excellent app to accompany their line of HAP music players. Feature rich app that lets you get to the music quickly. Very easy and organized view for all content. The only missing feature is the ability to allow a usb drive to rip music right to the music player otherwise we'll done Sony.

Very rarely connects. Sony??? Hard to believe!!!. The app Hardly connects to the player wirelessly. Cannot believe a global corporation like Sony doesn’t read its reviews. And if it does, why this level of apathy? Hard to believe Sony can’t make an app that works.....

No transport controls in app. There is no way to control the transport buttons like Home, Enter, Back within the app or the physical remote control. If these button fails on the front panel, no way to Import CDs from a disc drive (recent feature). This is especially with the ENTER button. Please update the app with transport buttons. Please...

Does not work at all. Fix it Sony

App Drops WiFi. Fix this your app goes to sleep i have to keep reloading to work. There is better out there fix now or i am getting rid of your player.

Almost perfect. Lovely to swap through Genres, Artists, Albums… better then iTunes! But it lacks the function to manage the content of the HAP-S1. Would be great to get rid of the “Unknown Artist” stuff (some sort of apple duplicates that get coped by the transfer app) Deleting on the HAP-S1 “SUCKS” as it takes several clicks per song to delete. So deleting 200 songs will take you about 2hours. Then, there is missing a play button, wherever you are. I want to play all albums of one artist, … not possible… I have to go down to an album, to a song and then I can click play!!!! Needs some improvement. Wonder what people develop these things and do not think about simple things? they should get that item themselves and but probably are not enthusiastic abut music, so do not understand who one would listen and go through its music.

Sony Hap. Is almost a perfect replacement for the original Apple TV. It has the memory and song download but zero ability to download the iTunes playlist. Unfortunately there is nothing on the market (Library over 125 Gigs) as a substitute for those that do not wish to stream, yet want everything to be iTunes based. If this allowed for playlist download, it would be the best

Newest update is flawed. The newest sony update has a problem. My iPhone and iPad will not connect. Sony, how about testing your updates before you make your products virtually worthless and get a fix out there now please. I have $5000 of boat anchors....

Worked well for a while...now seems fixed. Worked pretty well for a while , but now won’t connect to the player and is useless. At least it worked long enough for me to load my library and select a bunch of favorites. Still, very frustrating. Update: app started to work again this morning after taking “a day off.” One more star for coming back to work! Has been stable for a long time now, so that’s great. Considering the competition, this app is actually pretty good.

Unreliable. Frequently refuses to connect to my HAP-Z1-ES player on both iPhone and iPad.

What happened to my review!?. Great app, please don't screw it up Sony! You hit it out of the park with this one!!! The app is fast, responsive, and intuitive. The only suggestion I have is to add a line showing the next song in the queue. I absolutely love my HAP-Z1ES Hi-Rez player and the functionality of this app is icing on that cake.

Love the player hate the ap. Unfortunately the app is very temperamental as to whether it will find the player and without it it is very hard to navigate on the actual hardware. Sony really needs to address this

Wi fi is very bad. When it connects to your home’s wireless network, it is adequate. However, it rarely connects on first try and lately it has not been able to connect al all! Even after multiple re-boots of my compute, the Sony player, my routers, etc.

Constantly drops. Constantly loses connection with player.

New update has broken connection. Got a new update on the receiver and the app. It has killed the apps connection between iPhone app and the Hap-Z1ES. It forced me to update and here we are.

Inconsistent. In most places, it uses the track title from the ID3 tag, but in the play queue, it uses the file name, truncated at a certain number of characters. So I am looking at my play queue and all I see is “Moscow Symphony Orc” all the way down the screen. It should be using the track title, but given how slap-dash the whole experience is with this player, I am not surprised.

App needs to reconnect ALL THE TIME. Hard to use this app with the HAP Z1-ES... it is constantly needing to Reconnect. Can Sony figure out how to keep it connected while the app is running? As al alternative to the HDD Player and HAP Z1-ES, I use Roon, and it tales less than 1/8 of a sec to reconnect. The HDD take almost 5 seconds to connect. Digital audio is a pain-in-the-butt, and the HDD and HAP-Z1ES was suppose to fix that....

Connection unreliable. HDD Audio Remote (iPad and iPhone) fails to maintain connection with HAP-Z1es. It's not the network: The Spotify app reliably connects and is stable. Same for the HAP Music Transfer app on laptop. PLEASE fix this. Otherwise the only way to play tracks on internal drive is through controls on the player. Very inconvenient and not worthy of this otherwise great player.

Works good but...... How on earth do you get it to work in portrait mode on an iPad???

I can’t connect the app to HDD unit take long time but still fail at all. Why Sony made the basic problem

Most recent update causes connection issues. Everytime I load the app it now has connection problems. It cant find the Hap-S1. Close app, shut off hap, turn on and it finds it. I never had an issue before this remote update. Hap-S1 is also up to date with current firmware.
