Bike Share Toronto Comments & Reviews 2026
Glitchy. Told me that my ride was ended, locked the bike when I docked it, and then 15 hours later charged me $100 for keeping the bike over time. Ridiculous.
Broken stands. The app is fine but half the time it shows an open spot, that spot is broken and can’t return a bike. Missed several classes because of this, thinking there was a spot available nearby but ended up having to bike another 10 minutes and walk 20 back. By then class was mostly over. Need to get the infrastructure and network working. Would have taken an Uber if I knew there were no spots nearby.
Terrible service. The app itself is fine, but the Tangerine Bikes are terribly inconsistent. In my first rental, I had to ride to three different stations to find a dock that worked, wasting my time and being charged the entire way. Would not recommend and will never use again.
No support. I rode about twice as far as I needed and spent twice as much as I should have looking for a functional bike return. There is no number to call or way to end a ride when their equipment fails. I have used the bikes twice with the same problem both times.
Revision…. Well everything worked out… looks pretty cool now.
Pretty good. A much needed improvement from the previous app

Can’t Sign Out. App is missing a critical button, which is to sign in and out. I have an account for pay as you go, and another with a subscription but cannot access it due to this simple, and fundamental function the app is lacking. Please fix this.
Doesn’t Work Lol. Not much else to say. Getting an error with so code so can’t even troubleshoot
👍. App feels like it was designed by people who actually use these bikes. It does everything it needs to really well. Great app. Great service. It pleases me!
Doesn’t work well. Doesn’t work more often than it does. Resort back to the old app
Poor design, anti-intuitive. Unable to choose for two rides Unable to choose plan once you go pass front page
Zero star. Completely useless app. Did they even test their own app before releasing? I can’t make payment, it says “something went wrong”. Be specific about where it go wrong so that user knows what to do. Try logging in and it says invalid email. Seriously
No code generation and bike count always wrong. No ability to generate code when most QR codes are scratched out. Also the bike count is always wrong and will not let you take a bike out even though it’s docked in the station.
Broken. App is absolutely broken. Not sure how anyone is supposed to rent a bike (which explains why the racks are full).
Ugh!. User intuitiveness? You need to make this app easier to use, please. VERY frustrating.
“Invalid credit card number”. “Invalid credit card number”. Completely broken for both my cards. I have a td card from Montreal
Inaccurate and poorly managed. The available docks is usually inaccurate. The app will show open spots prior to and after getting to the dock, but there will be none available. Bikes at GO stations are not regularly swapped to provide open docks.
Just buy a bike. These bikes cannot be used to get to work or any appointments. The bike racks are constantly full I cannot drop my bike off at the location I need to be at. The only rack with empty slots is over a mile away. I can not explain how frustrating it is to have to change your entire day’s plan due to these terrible bike rentals. They are extremely hard to peddle the only acceptable bike are the ebikes which are constantly broken.
It’s a disaster. I work in app development myself, and I honestly don’t understand how on earth they built this. It’s a shame Toronto’s city bike app is such a disaster, the people who left five star reviews were simply lucky. Usability feedback: - I’ve come across at least 4 stations with multiple bikes but none of them would release. I keep scanning over and over again, but they simply wouldn’t release. This is not only frustrating, but also makes it incredibly hard to predict your travel time if you plan on getting to your destination by bike. You never know what’s gonna happen, You can’t be sure it’ll release, and you can’t trust the app. - stations indicating e-bikes are extremely unreliable. Often times you come up to a station with E bikes, scan every single one of them, and the app would say it’s not available, even though it appears available on the app. UX feedback - why do you make it so hard browsing multiple stations? When I am in a certain area and just want to see which stations are around, I’m just looking to see how many bikes are available at each. As soon as I click into a station, it zooms in and I lose myself on the map, I need to zoom out, locate myself again, and move to next one. And if I want to compare the number of bikes at different stations and decide which one I’m gonna go to, it becomes incredibly frustrating and long. Why? Why do you make your users suffer so much? - there is no way to see the charge on E bikes at any given station. So for example, if you want to get an E bike and you find it at a station 15 minutes away from you, you could walk all the way to the station only to find out that the bike has only 10% charge. So you did all that for nothing because you know the bike is gonna die within the next 10-15 minutes, and you’re not gonna take it. Why not make it easy for a user to make a decision whether they want to take time and walk to the station by providing the latest update on the battery level? Service feedback: - lots of bikes are in a terrible condition. I was riding a regular bike couple days ago and it broke down in the middle of a residential area, and I had to drag it for 40 minutes to the nearest station. - QR codes (including bike ID) are often scratched to the point where they aren’t scannable. I’ve experienced it multiple times when the app would indicate an available e-bike, but as soon as I got to the station Id realize that the QR code wasn’t scannable. So I’d be looking at a perfectly normal bike ride in front of me, fully charged, but I couldn’t get it. They’re only getting away with it because, like many things in our country, it’s a monopoly at this point. This is the only city bike service we have, so no matter how much people complain we’re not gonna get another one.
Remove the application. They don’t respond and you’re going to lose your money
Needs dark icon for iOS 18. Icon needs to be updated to support dark mode in iOS 18
Unreliable. This app supposedly indicates how many bike are available, which type and where. It’s so unreliable it’s almost unbelievable. Bike share has made me late so many times because I rely on bikes to transport me and show up to a station that says it has 8 bikes available, there are 15 there and not all of the broken ones have red lights indicating they need maintenance. I have to go through each bike only to be told that, surprise! none of them are working actually. So now I’m late and irritated! Horribly unreliable which sucks because when it works it’s great.
The Most Incompetent Tech and Service On The Planet. Nothing works. Their docks don’t work, bikes are okayish, dock placement is borderline stupid, and so much more. This has to be a deliberate scheme to be this bad because otherwise how is this possible? New standard to low.
Too many issues. If you think that the previous app PBSC was garbage, wait until you try this one ☝🏼
Never available. There are never bikes available or none of them end up working so you spend so much time scanning just to have to walk to another bike station when you’re in a rush. So unreliable. Half the bikes are broken or dirty. Get it together bolstered.
Your Bike System Is Broken. System has really gone south lately and become unreliable. Racks are either entirely full or empty. Some racks with 10 open docks and all are broken! It took me 9 attempts to dock the other day making me late and sweaty for a commitment. Last I heard, this program was running a deficit. Are you skimping on servicing the system to try and be profitable? Seems that way. This will only turn users like me away and further hurt your revenue. Fix your system! Riders beware, this is not a reliable service at present. If it does not improve, I will be cancelling my annual membership.
Useless. I was so glad when this app was gone. Why is it back?? It’s useless I can’t even log in. Requested a new password 3x now. Of course there’s no customer support to be found. I have an annual pass that I can’t use anymore since the switch.
Beyond Terrible. I couldn’t rent a bike if my life depended on it. It loads for 5 mins when you scan a QR code and then exits the app. It makes me livid. It shouldn’t be this hard. I want to ride a bike. I want to give you my money. Why are you pushing me away?
Better but compromised. I set up an email specifically for this app, and I’ve already begun receiving spam. Mainly “your Amazon order failed click here to update your payment information” from a non-Amazon email. It’s clearly a phishing scam, I can’t believe this apps security is so lax that the emails are already being spammed. Warning, DO NOT USE YOUR PERSONAL EMAIL FOR THIS APP.
Chef’s kiss 😘💋. Absolutely amazing and so intuitive. This app is the best bike renting app I have ever used
No numeric code functionality. The new app does not allow me to enter a code into the docking station like the previous app. Sometimes when I scan using camera it says I’m not close to the bike. Very inconvenient.
Doesn’t work?. What’s the point of this app if I can’t actually use it to rent the bikes LOL? Couldn’t use either of my BMO credit cards nor my debit card on the app.
Hasn’t worked in weeks. Made me late twice, the bikes are right there but the app won’t even open the scan feature. It’s hugely frustrating. I love bikes as public transportation I want this to work. The app needs major updates so that it will WORK.
Always ‘we apologize, but app is not available ‘. As an app used for going to work and going back work, it is not acceptable that app is not available during this peek period very often.
Omitted most important feature. This app is basically a copy of the PBSC app, except the most important feature is lost… being able to generate a numeric code from the app to unlock a bike. So many QR codes are damaged, and this feature was great. Too bad the ability to use PBSC app is also gone. With new updates the app now works slower than the old app.
This new app is so much worse. - can’t tell how many docks are available right away anymore - can’t tell if there is an ebike available right away - can’t generate codes anymore for manual undocking
Unusuable app. The qr code reader is simply not working… why even bother release app whose main functionality is not working?
Terrible. Every time I try to scan the qr code, the screen loaded and loaded and nothing happens. Absolutely horrible
Street names text is small on map. Please make street names easier to see on the map. Text is very small on busy looking map.
Didn’t work, Cost me $$. This app is extremely frustrating and bad. Several times I tried to get a bike and a message saying “We apologize, something went wrong. Try again.” would come up. So I deleted and then redownload the app. Same thing. Over and over. Since I had planned to take a bike to my meeting or appointment, I ended up having to spend money on a costly Uber to get to my destination(s). PLEASE FIX THIS.
Much better than the old app. Great improvement over the old app
Terrible experience. Tried to purchase a pass, entered all the profile info and keep getting Invalid credit cards. Tried two different cards, verified all the information and even tried doing the same through the website. Nothing works and profile is not getting created. Also, had an account with the old app, when submitting request to reset password email never arrives.
I want to commit tax fraud if this app is at all publicly funded. This application makes me borderline suicidal. I am so tired of being lied to. The App: “the bike dock near you has 7 available bikes!” Also My App once I scan all 7 bikes at the dock: “All these bikes are unavailable” despite there not being a red light on at their respective docks.
Faced some issues. - New app don’t have the option where there you get the 5 digit code which you can enter in the dock keypad to unlock the bike - Very spotty and sometimes doesn’t work/unlock - Unlock button was frozen the other day. - Constantly having to toggle between available bike vs available docks options, when planning your route. Might as well display both these information all the time instead of having to toggle. Also the toggle button is kind of small and easy to miss click a nearby button. - Unrelated to the app itself, but majority of the time when you try to unlock an ebike, even if it’s shown as available, it won’t unlock. - In the past, had issues where undockable docks are counted as available and you end up having to find another docking station. The count was very unreliable.
Never use Toronto bike share. They charge you $50 every time you want to use a bike and it takes 3-5 business days to get it back if you continue to keep using bikes you won’t get back your security deposit until you haven’t used a bike for a week or so definitely won’t recommend that’s $50 could’ve filled my gas tank
Really Hard to Use. I've been using the Bike Share Toronto app for over two years, and it's been a consistently frustrating experience. The app has serious performance issues, with constant delays in updating data. You'll often find yourself waiting to see the latest availability of bikes and docks. Even more frustrating is that the app frequently shows bikes available at a dock, only for you to arrive and find none there. This is incredibly inconvenient, especially during peak hours or when you're in a hurry. The user interface is not user-friendly at all. The app is slow, making it a pain to navigate through the different screens. There's also no tutorial or guidance provided for new users, making the initial setup and usage confusing. On top of all this, despite paying for an annual membership, you still have to pay extra for e-bikes. This feels like a cash grab and diminishes the value of the membership. Overall, the Bike Share Toronto app needs significant improvements to become a reliable and user-friendly service.
Improvement, but not great.. Most importantly, missing the code generation feature. Given how many QR codes and bike numbers are illegible this is super important. GPS seems to lose my location frequently and I need to force close and re-open the app for it to work. Not being able to see dock availability and bike availability at the same time is kind of annoying. I know there’s a toggle but it feels clunky. Not being able to buy a single ride or day pass for a friend seems like a major miss, the argument “have your friend make their own account” will be the reply but for a friend visiting town for a weekend isn’t going to download a new app and make an account, enter credit card details etc just for a ride or two. We just take the TTC instead. I will be using the old app for now until some of these are addressed, even if it’s slower and crashes sometimes.
Excellent. Good bikes and experience overall
took away an important feature. The way electric bikes are shown in the new version makes it very hard to identify if there is a near by one. I have to click all of them, instead of the colour coding used in the previous version. The little icon put at the bottom is not visible at all.
Horrible. Horrible app The previous app is way better than this
Better performance, less reliable data. Generally the app is better than the old one which was very slow especially when panning around the map. However, since using this version I have found that the availability of bikes and docks are completely unreliable. This is a particular problem with docks which consistently show as having some availability — sometimes as many as 3-4 — when they are actually all full. So you have to cycle to another that shows as having availability… but then that is full too. Restarting the app doesn’t refresh data or anything like that either. The whole network would also benefit from a feature for reporting broken docks.
The idea of public cycling is good but cycles are not available at the dock most of the time. Most of the times I see that cycles are not available at the docks. The idea is good but the service is pathetic Worst service
Agree with Maximus-Ride (May 23). I too find it puzzlingly difficult to get a second bike for a friend - setting up a new account, entering a credit card (which you already have), remembering a password - unnecessary nuisance!
Super app!. I don’t understand the gripes about this app. For me it worked perfectly. I was in Toronto for a couple of weeks and used it extensively. I liked all the features and real-time info. Love that it syncs with Health and Google Maps as well. I could complain about some of the bikes I used, but the app itself proved flawless.
No integration with other travel modes. I want this app to work with TTC/Presto and GreenP apps…I shouldn’t need to setup new accounts for every mode of transport in the city…ideally there should be discounts for using them in combination, especially if using the ttc and there is an outage…the parking lot and the bike share are in the same place and run by the same org - it’s weird I have to use two apps for the same company…
TERRIBLE. Cannot access to the bikes and cannot talk to a customer service representative for 15 minutes. It is a negligent company with no care for the customer satisfaction!
