Amazon Kids Parent Dashboard Comments & Reviews 2026
Easy to navigate. I appreciate the ease in which to navigate the parental controls.
Amazon do better!!!. I have been using Amazon kids for about 6 years. Stop allowing young kids to download without parent permission! I even made sure I changed the settings to NO DOWNLOADS and my 2 year is still able to download content on his own… UNACCEPTABLE… especially the apps that are taking pictures of my kids without my acknowledgment or permission! If Amazon kids + doesn’t do a better job catering to my kids then these developers I’m done with with this service for good.. I only gave Amazon tablets to my kids, even though I didn’t want too, because of how Amazon kids was advertised that the parents would be in 100 percent in control. After using your products seems like the "profit margins" are in control.
Useless at the moment. Very excited for a separate app specifically for parental controls but unfortunately the only thing in the app that works so for is turning on/off the daily screen time. Attempting to edit fields puts me back to the home screen every time.
Hard to control. I cannot control the time limit, cannot pause the device from my phone
Amazon kids. Very good 👍😘😊😁🍀🍀😆😄😆😄😹😹😹😹
App won’t notify or allow parent approval. I can’t get the app to notify me of requests. It sends me a text and I can do it through the website but the app won’t and I’m super frustrated.
Not responding. Not responding remotely
User-friendly, great app for parents!. This makes it easy to see what my daughter has been reading on her Kindle. I can also adjust the age settings for Amazon kids+. I like that it gives me opportunities to personalize it.
Easy to use. This app is a lot easier to use on my phone. There should be a select all option for shows I don’t want my daughter to watch. Instead of having to go through and select every single one in the settings. Very tedious but otherwise the app is fine.
Terrible. Pausing tablet never works. Terrible app and it also allows my child to purchase stuff even though it’s in parental control mode
Doesn’t work. Daily Screen time won’t allow you to edit/modify and set up screen when select just redirects you back to the main page worst app ever and to think I was happy to see more parent safety features available easily to control from an app, but not worth the download I’m deleting app if I could give zero stars I would highly disappointed
Screen Time. Even though I’ve set green time limits for whatever reason it doesn’t actually enforce them. It’s incredibly frustrating.
Not very user friendly. It’s hard finding the notifications and just setting up
Alexa too?. I paused my kids devices not knowing. I was disabling Alexa. I haven’t been able to resume Alexa. Screaming from my room right now to wake him up?
Keeps resetting when signing in. I need to check my email to get the verification code but when I go back to the app it has me sign in again. The very first interaction with the app and I’m already furious with it.
Horrible. Every time & I mean every time I tried to sign in, it would text me a code. I would then copy the code and go to paste it where it was needed and then it would open the start screen again to login in and prompt me for a code again. I did this all of 10 times before I deleted the app, never actually being able to access it.
This app does not support reviewing pending store request.!. Then what is the point of this app if I can’t approve app downloads. So frustrating and pointless
Not very user friendly. Not very maneuverable. Not sure if the app is the problem but after I signed in on the app my child’s tablet began throwing a lot of errors
Updated removed functionality. Overall the new app is very nice because it doesn't start you as a kid and then require you to login as an adult every time, as was the case with the Amazon kids app. However, there was a key feature that got taken away with the update. You can still select when the kindle is allowed to be used, but you can't have it turn on in the pm and off in the morning. I used to have a time limit and allow it to start being used after school 3:30 pm and turn off at 7 am before school. It no longer allows that because the start time has to be be before the end time. This assumes kids are going to be using it only during the day. Yes I can still turn it off manually but that's an extra manual step that wasn't necessary before. Either remove the check or allow for configuring multiple periods.
Failure to Fix. I’ve been unable to do anything to adjust my children’s accounts now for almost a month. I submitted a bug report through customer service about a month ago, but still have yet to have anyone reach out to help me fix it. This was supposed to be one of the perks of getting the Fire Tablet. If this continues, I will likely cancel my subscription, and may consider returning the tablets as this is a deal breaker.
Alexa for kids is great. My wife and I are enjoying this device for our daughter, does everything it says it does. Love the parental guidance it has, definitely want one for my room. Do recommend this for any parent, for their child to have fun with it
Garbage. Finally they created a separate app for this feature however any time you try to do anything it takes you back to the main screen. Half baked at best. Otherwise there is no point for the app.
Still no screen time by day. It’s too bad the app images show the ability to set screen time by day vs weekdays and weekends like the old app. This is an issue because Friday nights we have to increase the time since it’s not a school night. By Monday we forget to switch the time back to normal school night time so we essentially have to manually update the time twice a week. Bad design. I really don’t see any improvements from the old app so far. Not sure why they made some minor UI changes and released what is essentially a duplicate app.
App doesn’t work. Cannot pause or change times from this app
Needs better support. It barely syncs with my child’s devices and it takes way to long to even attempt to pause his tablet when I need it to.
Deleting Amazon kids browser history. I have tried so many times gone through so many articles to trying to lead my sons browser history on his Amazon browser. All it does is show you what they’re watching, but it does not allow you to delete it. I want to delete the history so that he can’t go back to some of the things he goes to how do I delete that none of you were telling me the. Answer. So again I need to delete the Amazon kids browser history. It has the bookmarks it has history. It has saved whatever but it does not give you the option no matter where I go on how to change that.
Approving Apps. “This app does not support reviewing pending store requests” The only way to do this is by getting a notification via email or txt which then has a link that takes you to Amazon Parent Dashboard website and then you must sign in. Why isn’t this on the app? The app should support this.
Screen time hassle. I wish the app gave me the option to add a one-time screen time “bonus” instead of simply editing your existing limit and then having to remember to change it back!
Updates. I am enjoying the new update as far as weekdays and weekend updates. I love that now we can adjust setting based upon each day versus weekdays/weekend. The new app is clearer. Brighter. Easy to use to adjust settings. I appreciate the added time ranges from 15 minutes to almost 12 hours versus “unlimited.” The app responds to my son’s tablet faster when making adjustments.
Limited options. It’s very limited on the choices it gives you as a parent to monitor your kids screen time. For example, I only want my son to watch 20 minutes in the morning and 20 minutes at evening. It either gives me 30 or 15 minutes, but not 20, and for the whole day. I can’t choice the time of the day.
One or two tweaks short of 5 stars. I’m really happy Amazon moved the parental controls to a separate app, because it was a real hassle to log in through the kids’ app. I just wish there were a way to give a kid more time just for today, without turning off the time limits or changing the schedule. Nintendo’s Switch app lets you suspend the limit for the rest of the day. Microsoft’s Family Safety app lets you add up to 3 hours of screen time. Either approach (or a combination of both) would be really helpful.
Not working on timing. Every time I set up a time for my daughter to use her Amazon fire tablet, it completely locking the tablet out despite whole day is still left , and she didn’t even use it for a minute,
Better that the old app, still pretty bad UX. Amazon needs new UI/UX designers. Does this app function? Yes. Does it work in an intuitive way that follows Apple’s designed guidelines? Absolutely not. Good parts: It is much easier now to access & change my kids settings. The other app made you jump through all kinds of UI hoops to do simple things like change the time limits. This basically surfaces just that behavior, so that’s an improvement. Bad bits: the navigation structure is horrible. So many views you navigate into to adjust settings and when you tap or swipe to go back you’re taking back several views, not the previous one. For example, to adjust the range you navigate to your child’s settings, tap the gear icon, tap “adjust age filter”. Here, if you tap the back button you are taken back 1 view, but if you swipe back you are taken all the way back to the top level. There are inconsistencies like this all throughout the app. Another example of poor UX - the view for adjusting daily limits. Scrolling up & down in this page is clunky. They aren’t using the standard velocity one expects when scrolling views. Additionally, if you begin a scroll by touching one of the time limit sliders, the time limit is adjusted rather than scrolling the view. For a “tech” company as large as Amazon I expect they could afford designers that know how to do correct UI/UX for iOS. The lack of concern for the user experience all across Amazon’s mobile apps is just another example of how we are the product and the purpose of the app is to provide a minimum amount of functionality by putting in the minimum amount of effort.
Not impressed. Child loves the tablet but I should not have to take 4 steps to remove content from the tablet. If I want to remove Blippi from the app, I shouldn’t have to remove each individual episode. The tablet should have nothing on it until the parent adds the apps they want. It’s too hard to remove content.
What was the point?. I don’t see why a whole new app was made for the parental controls. Don’t fix what wasn’t broken. I also can’t adjust the screen time settings. It pulls me out of the settings & back to the main menu. This was a waste of memory/space. I did notice I was able to put in the nicknames of the people she’s allowed to call. So there’s a positive.
Easier but Still Not the Best. Couple features I wish they would add - Daily limits by specific day of the week - Play together feature like what’s on the other Amazon kids app, I shouldn’t need to have two apps to get all available features - Some sort of text feature that goes directly from app to tablet
I don't know where you all find the ease or convenience. No notifications Can't see the apps the tablet has requested
Doesn’t work. Won’t pause devices or adjust time correctly
Parental Controls and Content management are awful. The app and Amazon kids program makes you individually remove content you don’t want rather than add content you do want. I’ve spent an hour removing just a fraction of the content I don’t want my kids accessing. I canceled the subscription it’s not even worth it
This app is horrible. No way yo connect to an already established kids fire account

Does not work. Does not work
So frustrating.. It lacks the most basic functionality. I cannot filter just to stuff I already downloaded for the kiddos. They keep clicking to download everything and running out of space and getting frustrated. The tablet is borderline unusable as the kids just get frustrated nothing works and give up. Small basic features would do wonders.
SCREEN TIME SETTINGS KEEPS TURNING OFF. Very frustrating. I have my daughters tablet for a certain amount of time and hours. Since this new app was launched, the screen time settings randomly will turn off and she can access the tablet outside those set parameters. Sometimes she wakes up earlier than me and will have access when I don’t want her to! Very frustrating as I have 3 kids and I don’t always immediately notice and enable the limits again. PLEASE FIX THIS.
Much quicker than the other app. Though it would be nice to have the option to extend daily limits (on a non-recurring basis, eg Add 30 mins) without having to change the permanent screen limit schedule.
Glitches. So far ok (used for my toddler). I find the parent-initiated pause doesn’t work most of the time.
Amazon needs to fix. Amazon needs to fix the issue on in app subscriptions for kids games. Even when it’s turned on to allow in app purchases a lot of ppl get the error msg and it’s denied. There are forums online about how it’s never worked for their customers. So be warned your favorite kids game may only be the beginning levels and you may never be able to unlock the later ones.
It’s doesn’t work.. Sadly it doesn’t work.
A frustrating experience. I need to delete one of my children’s profiles. The instructions in the Help menu were 1. Go to. 2…. But wait…go to where??? It was literally just “Go to.” Ridiculous.
Useless app. App is useless not user friendly
Adsterra is the most preferred ad network for those looking for an alternative to AdSense. Adsterra is the ideal choice for new sites with low daily traffic. In order to advertise on the site in Adsterra, like other ad networks, a certain traffic limit, domain age, etc. is required. There are no strict rules. Sign up!
Hard to find ways to undo functions with settings. Tried to approve a web filter for my kids through the app and selected one of the options on accident to self select block websites. I want to go back but I can’t. Access with this through the app would be helpful
Fire tablet and this associated app is very poorly done.. Not out at all. There are thousands of trash applications that install onto this tablet and there is no way to do a bulk uninstall or select a clean install with base apps only. Impossibly time-consuming to be selective about what apps your child has available And support is terrible. Disaster.
Amazing-Almost. This app is amazing for the echo show 5 , but it is a tiny bit confusing. If I need to add contacts for my kid , it has some words in blue to tap on but they do nothing. So I can not add contacts. But everything else is amazing. To enable music on Alexa and much more!!!
So confusing. How the heck do I find the parent dashboard. Then change the modify web browser. You don’t explain how to change or do anything that prohibits kids from just playing regular games like abc mouse. So stupid and hard on a parent who has a million better things to do than figure out how to get there kids tablet to let them play simple abc mouse.
Not an huge fan. There are things on here. I don’t want on my kids tablet that I can’t remove that she keeps accessing that I then have to close out. It more of a hassle. After owning two of this now I regret just buying cheap iPads
Pause device button doesn’t always work. Frustrating!!! The timer that I set doesn’t always work so my child plays on it longer than he should. When I use parent controls to pause device, it doesn’t work either!
Rarely works, almost completely useless. Every single time I attempt to do anything settings related for any of my kids profiles it just says “parent dashboard - oops, something went wrong” What is the point of even having this application if it can’t do the one thing it is designed to do?
Time limits. It would be nice if I could set 2 different time limits for the same day. 30min in AM and then automatically off and then off again at bedtime. Also changing the time is slow if the tablet is in use.
Hiding Content toggle broken. Time and time again I’ve tried to hide Love, Diana and yet the kid can still easily access it from the videos tab as a recommendation. No true way to block content, and that’s very frustrating. I have to turn off WiFi, then she cannot watch anything, when all I’m trying to remove is Diana.
Waste of money. Wanna turn off videos? Good luck. I did it, and it worked for all of 2 days and video options came back. Even though it shows in the parenting app that it is supposed to be blocked. Wanna control the volume? Good luck. I tried it but it won’t stay to the volume you set it. Wanna set the screen brightness? Not an option. There are some features I like, at least I’m able to block some videos I don’t approve of, but who knows how long that will last. I wish I could take this back and not wasted my money on this.
Good Idea Bad Execution. I love the options this app has but it has so many bug fixes and inconsistencies it makes it hard to like. It works sometimes and sometimes it does not. Sometimes it has my kids tvs stuck in a loop and will either stay paused or not put it in downtime.
Not user friendly. It’s like a maze to find how to add content to the tablet and even harder to find how to clear it off, when I originally set up the tablet I was able to ad tons of games. I recently had to clear it because of some random glitch and now I can’t add more apps for my child. Why is it so complicated
Easy to use.. Get kids moving if they want to stay logged in. Easy to pause the tablet and get kids attention.
Lots of things for your child. Once you figure it out, it’s very easy to download learning games for your child
Needs better parental control. It doesn’t truly allow you lock the volume settings everytime it’s “set” it’s really not and they are turning right back up. The screen time is a joke since they can just bypass it
Settings are too hard. My daughter has like barely any content on her tablet, but it keeps saying she has no storage and when I try to delete things, it still says she has no storage. This is so frustrating!
Great Tablet for my 4yr. Old. This is a great tablet for little ones!! Endless games for free!! We had gotten her an iPad but would have spent a ton on apps!! Fire tab has been a fabulous purchase!! Highly recommend !!!
All or nothing. I gave this app a bad review because the Fire Tablet either has a child’s profile or an adult profile and there is nothing in between for older children. My 8 year old just wants to play Roblox and has no business on the internet but unfortunately the tablet does not accommodate.
Updating that kids tablet. It’s like so many loops, kid can’t do updates on gave to get updated version of games then I log in to parent profiles and the shot hidden! It’s so hard to do something so simple…. Still have no ideas how to get in to unlock her parental control and allow updates.. gotta get an iPad
Parent controls lack nuance. The parent controls for videos and apps do not distinguish between specific apps some of which are highly educational and specific videos some of which are highly questionable. Why can’t I turn on time for certain apps and classify others as entertainment and limit them?
I don’t know if I will ever like it. I can’t do any thing on this app I need my mom to help me maybe in the future we’ll figure it out but right now it’s terrible I’m so mad 😡 because I want to read books so badly so don’t by this app in till they fix it
Poor design. Can’t find anywhere to approve my kid’s app requests. Sometimes when using the schedule functionality, my kid gets locked out of their tablet even though they haven’t used all the time. Just seems buggy and not user friendly to me. Makes me nervous that a guy who started a company that can’t build apps, thinks he can start a company that builds rocket ships.
Much better. Such a quick and easy way to add library books to a kid’s kindle. Much better interface than before. Thank you!!
Optional security and controls. I wish that this app could control what apps are being used and cannot be used. Turning off certain access to certain apps a certain times to help control learning versus fun activities.
Love!!!. I love this for parents and families who have kids. Being able to see their activity & to be able to set limits and screen time.
Needs refinement. App works much better than the older version, however, requests and updates being sent from tablets does not show up. I had to log onto my computer to approve/deny app downloads.
Absolute garbage. Half the time when you make a change the other for your child the device does not actually reflect the change. I would highly recommend buying a different platform. This one is major junk.
What’s The Point. I got the app so I wouldn’t have to go to the website to approve my kids downloads. No matter how many times I’ve restarted, signed out, deleted and redownloaded, I can’t get any notifications from the app itself. But log in to the website and low and behold all the requests my kids have made within the day. Fix this issue asap!!!!
Parental Controls are a joke. Parents should have an option to block all episodes of something. I don’t mind my kids having access to educational videos, but Diana and Roma and Vlad a Nikki? Give me an option to go in and block the entire show not each and every episode.
Issues. Like the app and has great features just doesn’t pause my child’s device. Even after updates and such it lags and just doesn’t work
More restrictions needed. It won’t allow you to block videos entirely or block an entire channel of videos. It forces you to block videos one by one. This is frustrating considering this is already an additional subscription not a free service. It doesn’t seem worth the monthly fee to me and I won’t be continuing my subscription.
Can’t travel. Anytime we travel nothing shows up for my kid. I download many shows on Netflix, Disney, and even other apps and it just says “offline” when we travel. I’ve read so many threads and this is a common issue but no solution. Defeats the purpose of having an iPad entirely.
Can’t use on iPad anymore. Kids love to read on their Kindles and occasionally on the iPad if they don’t have their Kindle’s. But now, if we get stuck away from home and don’t have their Kindle, too bad. They can’t read books on the iPad. That was a big plus with their service. I see they didn’t decrease by monthly subscription fee either!!
Terrible features. This app severely lacks basic features that parents often have. Like the ability to "turn off" limits for the day with one click, or add bonus time. It's extremely inconvenient to change number of hours just to add 15 mins!
Confusing Parental Controls. Setting parental controls are impossible on this tablet. It seems like our kids figure out a workaround every time. I’ve hit the lock out button and watched them play through
Not intuitive. Frustrating. You can ask Alexa to play something specific, like a free audible book or podcast and it just chooses something random to play for you. I wish my son could say "tell me a story about an octopus!" And it would give suggestions based on that. The content and commands are difficult to navigate
Screen time. My kids got a way modify daily screen time through their profile. Seems like you can’t really do much in settings
Alexa too?. I paused my kids devices not knowing. I was disabling Alexa. I haven’t been able to resume Alexa. Screaming from my room right now to wake him up?
Very Much Watching. Love this app 🩷🩷 always able to track their time on apps.
More flexibility needed. First, it’s annoying I have to download an additional app to put parental controls on my Alexa device. All I wanted to do was to stop my kids from watching shows on the device but now it’s pretty much unuable. No timers. No music. No nothing. There needs to be options to select of what they can have access to.
Requests?. My kids download requests no longer show up when I click the link in my email, every update this gets harder to use. Like not being able to delete apps completely off the tablet. Ridiculous. Busy parents do not have time for this
Bothersome. Storage fills up really quick and is hard to navigate how to fully remove apps from the device. Talking tom is not visible and blocked and yet taking up storage. Honestly very frustrating. If your kid plays 1 or 2 games only this is a good option but otherwise…. Annoying.
Recents are ridiculous.. The recent feature at the very top is bonkers. Trying to clean up and create more storage is a constant struggle because apps that have been uninstalled are still visible to my little.
Fix the time limit bugs please. Having big issues with the time limits that are being set. They randomly reset themselves or completely delete after a few minutes. For all parents out there…PLEASE FIX THIS ISSUE!! This the main reason we use and pay for this service, and it’s not working.
LOVE!. I am so thankful for this app! It makes bedtime and screen time a breeze with our six year old. Highly recommend!
Very clunky. I find this app incredibly hard to utilize while trying to add things to my children’s account. It seems like for every attempt to add something and it takes four or five tries before it’s successful. There’s no straightforward way to add things or approve things.
Black screen. I try to open the app and as soon as it opens it goes to a black screen and I’m unable to do anything I have deleted and reinstalled the app and still nothing
Parents. Absolutely love the control of the devices. More enjoyable when there are limits set. Thank you
