Bluesky Social Comments & Reviews 2026

Superb direction for social media!. This is what we needed; a social media app that doesn’t pander to billionaires’ whims, stockholders’ portfolios, or sell off your data to make you the product versus the customer. I’m sure Bluesky will have its growing pains, but it’s so refreshing to see a site that actually CARES about its users! Even the data privacy rights are given to the consumers. The conversations themselves are refreshing, the algorithms seem to cater to my interests very well without sending me into an echo chamber, and I’m given a broader view of content versus the competition. Folks, this is the way social media should be; SOCIAL. My only, tiniest of gripes is that it’s not yet fully compatible with iPad. The interface is the same as on the phone, and there are no “landscape” views. So, Bluesky, please, PLEASE update that feature! That said, I love the app, and more importantly I feel safer using it.

Very good social media platform. I’m really enjoying my time with Bluesky. It’s very functional and reminds me of what Twitter used to be like before it was ruined. I do have a few recommendations to make it better. First, I’d like a grid view layout for the media tab. I primarily use Bluesky to follow artists, so that would be convenient. Second, the app is missing bookmarks. This is the main feature I really miss from Twitter. Lastly, I would really appreciate a dedicated iPad app. I use my iPad more than my phone a lot of the time, and I wish I could browse the app without it being buggy and letterboxed. I think this platform has lots of room to grow, but it’s already better than Twitter in it’s current state. Very impressed!

We need a more personal aspect.. To really stick it to FB and X we need a more personal aspect to this app. I could fully commit to this app if your personal profile could expand further and allow you to store photos and albums. I’m stuck not shutting my Facebook down completely because of the photos, memories, and marketplace. If an expansion to the profile could allow saving of photos and maybe a section to add what you’re reading and maybe what your listening to that would really sell it as an alternative to leave both FB and X.

Needs work on iPad screen. I like blue sky social. It has a ups and downs, but it is a lot better than Twitter etc. so I really like it in my opinion it has more good than bad points. One thing that has to be fixed. On my computer screen, the blue sky page fill up screen like it supposed to Same with my iPhone . it fills up full screen like it’s supposed to I just got a new iPad and I download the app was going to be really happy with it, but the app only filled up about a third of the center of the screen the other to turn around it are black looks kind of funky When they fix it appears on the screen that’s the step up for them that would be great. Otherwise I would give them five star but for this, I’ll give them a four star but they are doing a great job.

Post notifications on standby screen. I love the app but it needs the ability to turn on notifications for posts from profiles I want to see on my phone in standby mode… like Twitter has, because there are people that I follow to keep up with important urgent information & having to check just to know if they have or haven’t posted is frustrating. I am trying to get settled in here and hopefully so will more of the people that provide important information I need to keep up from the people who I used to be able to do so when they were on Twitter Currently I still have to rely on Twitter for the post notifications of those who still post there because I can’t get them on here Btw, why does the app only allow ONE notification at a time for replies, likes, and such? As soon as another one comes in the previous one disappears. That’s a HUGE inconvenience. These features shouldn’t be that difficult to add, as I’ve been on Twitter since late spring 2008 & those features were available even back then.

More than fine!. Don’t listen to the low star reviews. Any issues that have been raised are those to be expected from a budding and early site/app. A waitlist is to be expected while the structure of the place is being set up, there is a GitHub page to openly show what is being worked on at the moment, and self content labeling was just implemented. The team is listening and learning from the failures of Twitter, and I’m all in. To those of you complaining about the waitlist, don’t expect anyone to reward your childish outbursts with an invitation. We’d rather go on without you.

A breath of fresh air. I’ve compared Bluesky less to X and more to Facebook. Over time Facebook kept reducing my options as an individual (and those as a business or organization) to focus on ads and algorithmically determined content outside of my control. At Bluesky the ownership of who can see my content and whose I want to see is with me again. From a business standpoint, Bluesky is what you wanted when you saw your reach on Facebook drop significantly and the only way to play was with ads. As an individual, Bluesky is so freeing. And people are innovating and building for it, which is one of the things I missed most about Twitter. Highly recommend, and keep up the good work, y’all.

Minor problem with images of text. Having recently come to BlueSky as a longtime Twitter user, I found an irritating difference in how the two apps display text. In Twitter’s app, as the phone is rotated, the image rotates on the screen so that the top stays up. In BlueSky’s app, the orientation of the image is frozen on the screen. This makes it easier to read images of text in Twitter ‘s app, as rotating the device makes the text run from top to bottom (i.e., along the long dimension of the screen), which enlarges the font and makes the text easier to read. The lack of this feature makes it harder to read text images in BlueSky. Despite this minor problem, I still gave you a 5 (rounding up from 4.8)😊

so much better than *THAT* app. honestly I moved from twitter to bluesky a year ago and couldn’t switch because it wasn’t developed enough yet, but I switched back over to bluesky a few weeks ago and I absolutely LOVE the app now!!! you have discoverability if you use keywords, you get to curate the content you want to see through different tags, they added media/gif support, and they just added the option to make threaded posts before you post!! I’m just waiting on the feature to put posts in drafts and genuinely I think I’ll be able to fully say goodbye to the other app and move fully to this one!! and to the devs: y’all are doing AMAZING with this app and I want to thank you so SO much for everything so far!!

For an early access app, it’s quite clean and quick!. I'm not going to sugarcoat and say that it doesn't have bugs, because it does. But then again, it is very early access. I love certain implementations - the way link previews (cards) work, and the way notifications can be expanded and collapsed to view all usernames involved in an action, etc - it's the little things. But I guess the beauty of it lies at the back end - with all the decentralization. It does have the potential to dethrone the already well-established Mastodon as the go-to decentralized microblogging platform, but that's way far into the future. Looking forward to future updates!

Love it here!. The ability to customize my feed is nice and I like the fact I see less trolls. Of course this app has long way to go in terms of new features in order for it to really take off. An edit button would be nice so we don’t have to delete and repost. Groups are needed so we can find our like minded tribes. Videos need to be longer than one min. I would like to Find people I know. I don’t mind meeting new people but again would like to connect with my tribe. The ability to share pics would be nice as well. Like a small photo album. Keep up the great work and look forward to seeing new updates.

Is this really a beta?. So full stop I’m not a tech person. Got invited to beta test bluesky off the waitlist. While there are occasional times the feed loading gets wonky- and I’ve experienced this a handful of times in the past week- it’s also very intuitive, and it evolves while you are using it. It has been hands down the coolest social site I have ever been a part of. Remember watching Star Trek? Or your first MySpace experience? When you were like-technology really can’t be that ‘human’. Scrolling through Bluesky is that kind of experience- where you feel connected to humanity. And yes- the users are pretty legit amazing. Being a beta tester I went in there without any connection or community- and was quickly embraced by so many. If you’re lucky enough to get an invite, don’t sit on it.

Algorithm needs serious work. I downloaded Bluesky a week or two ago, to join some friends that had begun using the app, and I must say, at base value, Bluesky is a functional app, that could absolutely some day serve as plenty of people’s main form of social media (though bookmarks and post drafts are a must for the future). That said, currently, the app’s algorithm fails in huge ways that X’s doesn’t. My feed on Bluesky, no matter what I try, is flooded with posts that don’t interest me whatsoever, and even more frequently, with posts that I actively am seeking to AVOID. For example, SO many posts on Bluesky are people talking up the app, and claiming that it is infinitely better than X. Frankly, I have no skin in that race, but it’s really hard to genuinely believe that Bluesky is superior, when HALF of my Bluesky feed is posts trying to prove that X is bad, meanwhile my X feed is still only content that I actually enjoy and care about. There is a “Show me less content like this” button on Bluesky, but I have clicked it, probably over 100 times at this point, and it has simply done nothing to help curate my feed. I plan to try to stick it out with Bluesky, but for now I will be using X much more. If Bluesky ever wants to get out of X’s shadow, it needs to ditch the little brother energy, and simply be a better app, but currently I unfortunately cannot say that it is.

Eh…. It’s better broadly speaking than its alternatives, but the bar for that is really in the basement at this point. It’s surprisingly difficult to get started on this platform unless you turn over discovery to just random people - I’m still not clear on why letting Bob show me accounts i might be interested in is better than an algorithm, but okay. There are also moderation lists, similar to the block lists from back in the day - but you run into the exact same problem where you’re putting complete control over your experience in the hands of a complete stranger. There’s an ongoing issue with people creating troll lists that sound like things you’d want to avoid that are peppered with random accounts that have nothing to do with what the list says it’s for. They’re too small to do proper moderation on the platform as fast as it’s growing, but this is a lazy and grossly ineffective way of handling that. And from what I’ve seen, zero real effort has been put into addressing it, making most of the feature essentially useless unless you have the time to regularly check these lists - but by that point why wouldn’t you just maintain your own?

Blue sky social media. So I just join this new media just yesterday and I have been enjoying it so far but I wished it had all the old game like #facebook did back in the day when they were used to be known as the big gamer media like #zynga old games that used to be on their and many other games but things hasn’t been the same so I hope this social media be the new Facebook but more than posting and commenting just need to add the good old games like cityville, castleville , chefville all the old ville games and more so please add the games like the ville family! PLEASE ADD THE GOOD OLD GAMES!

Vague TOS and allowing a horrible person to have platform. I had high hopes for this app to be better than Twitter/X after the updates and changes it went through, and it was good for a while. But after a ton of people jumped ship and moved from Twitter to Bluesky, the moderators put extremely vague TOS and blanket bans on any kind of fictional content that could be perceived as “problematic”. But it doesn’t stop there, the site had a consistent banning of trans creators left and right, and the moderators were in kahoots with a notorious transphobe and pedo sympathizer, Jesse Singal. They allow him to use their platform to spread hate, despite their TOS blatantly stating harassment targeting people based on their race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, or identity wouldn’t be tolerated. Unless the mods get their act together, this place will crash and burn like Twitter in less than another year.

So Much Potential. This could be the perfect TWITTER (not “X”) replacement. App is designed/laid out similar, all the same features are slowly making their way to the app. Overall this is a great start for the devs. The only thing this app ***desperately needs*** are more people and accounts actively on the platform. The thing that’s been keeping me on TWITTER all this time was having the perfect blend between my news/trends, who i was following, what my friends were retweeting, & the recommended post all in my feed. Obviously since Elon took over, all of that was changed anyway. Right now the only posts i’m seeing in my BlueSky feed are politically based, even after actively trying to find other types of content. A lot of other celebrities, companies, brands, & meme accounts i like just aren’t on BlueSky. THAT is the only thing that needs to be improved if BlueSky has a chance to compete. Ironically, i saw an ad on TWITTER about BlueSky that initially got me to download it. If I recall correctly, the ad said the app had achieved over 10 million downloads in 3 days? After scrolling through the app recently, I get the feeling that a lot of those 10 million people flocked back to TWITTER, or some of that activity was botted. Regardless of what the complaints I have are, this is still a great foundation for a new *healthy* platform. Just don’t follow the same practices that you see these other companies doing and actively try to get people to switch to this platform.

A Breath of Fresh Air. I’ve been on Bluesky for a while now, and I can confidently say it’s the social media platform I’ve been waiting for. After getting tired of the endless propaganda and negativity on other apps, I decided to give Bluesky a try—and it’s been a game-changer. The community here is incredible: engaging, thoughtful, and free from the chaos that dominates other platforms. It feels like the best parts of what Twitter used to be—open dialogue, creativity, and connection—without the noise or toxicity. The interface is clean, intuitive, and easy to use, and the platform is constantly improving. What sets Bluesky apart is its commitment to decentralization and fostering genuine conversations. It’s not just another app; it’s a movement toward something better. If you’re like me and miss the old days of social media—where people connected instead of argued—I can’t recommend Bluesky enough. Download it today and join this incredible community. You won’t regret it!

Genuine Twitter Successor. I used to LOVE twitter. It was my social platform of choice for years. Unfortunately, it’s really taken a turn for the worse lately, and I permanently deleted my account because of current ownership, among other things. I finally downloaded Bluesky, and I genuinely feel the way I do back on early Twitter. The different feeds are awesome, something Twitter should’ve had long ago. “Starter packs” are a really great onboarding resource as well. It feels like Twitter without the baggage, which is EXACTLY what I missed. I see a lot of negative reviews of the app are months old, but I assure you, it’s getting to a really great place now.

silly reviews. i feel like all the negative reviews are really missing any thought. The reason your whole feed is crowded w such “liberal media” is because the reason the app was made was to get away from a predominately conservative media. They came to this app instead elon musks version of twitter specifically to get away from that media so a majority of new joiners are gonna talk about it if you don’t care about politics then you have to develop an algorithm by liking posts not about them. And lastly people calling this a rip off of “X” is killing me, this is made by the creator of twitter yk “X” when it was normal?

Deceptive Practices and Censorship—Just Like Its Competitor. This app sells itself as a better alternative to its main competitor, but it’s clearly not. The deceptive practice of “posting” user replies without notifying them that their post has been flagged as spam is misleading and, frankly, insulting. In some cases, posts are flagged for the slightest use of basic critical thinking. This app suppresses users in ways eerily similar to its counterpart, X—the only difference is that it doesn’t even inform users that their posts were shadowbanned. It falsely indicates that posts are published when they’re actually blocked. Honestly, another disappointing experience. The good old days of Twitter are long gone. Critical thinking and honest takes on important issues are only allowed if they align with the platform’s best interests. I’ve deleted my account and have no plans to return. We in the USA deserve better.

Twitter had a child with Tumblr. That’s my early impression. Probably need more time for the algorithm to meet my desires, as the politics feel hokey and the arts feel sparser than I would like. Definitely want more thoughtful political discourse interspersed with the beauty of the world and the arts. I was on X for a little while but the deregulation of it allowed for rampant racism and sexism which seemed to just be spiraling out of control with no end in sight. I decided it was time to leave after this, and this is off to a better start so far but only time will tell. I normally wouldn’t review this early but I feel it necessary given that this social network appears to be a target for review bombing by the same people who hate being held accountable for their egregious behavior and prefer X for that reason.

Revitalizes social media!. I have not used almost any social media in years now. I found it to be draining and overall a miserable experience. Was watching Phillip DeFranco and saw he joined and decided to give it a chance and let me just say. Wow. This app is great! Everyone feels so much more engaging, interesting, and overall happy. It’s a platform where I’m not bogged down with bots, hate speech, and overall a depressing feed. The engagement is through the roof, which for a newer, smaller app blows my mind. I’ve never seen and connected with people, strangers even the way I have on this app. And I’m only a couple days in. I can get news again without it being the only thing I see. I can chat with strangers about games. Repost interesting IT content. I can like photos of cats, stars, and art. It truly is a phenomenal platform where I look forward to seeing what comes next.

A perfect fine alternative to Twitter (if you like Twitter). Though it's funny because the people in the reviews are outting themselves. The funny part about the furry nsfw is that you actively have to join communities for that and turn off the nsfw filter to see anything mature. Theres no algorithm yet and even if you're seeing that stuff on your algorithm on other sites it means you interact with things similar to it. 😏 I can see bluesky becoming more promising overtime when new features are added and more communities join in. Artist seem to enjoy the app so that's what matters to me the most to me.

Videos not uploading some user experience issues but still a great app.. it is hard to really say if the app sets the “tone” or the people that use it. Bluesky seems to answer that question I think a lot of people definitely can no longer tolerate X because of the level of toxicity and lack of moderation which is why I found myself on bluesky, but pass that even the timeline itself feels different and more refreshing/authentic. Is that because of the algorithm and the way it structured or the people that use it knowing what so many of us left behind was souring? so far it has been a much better experience. I only wish that some of the issues with uploading videos consistently were solved. I can make post but the videos themselves don’t upload and sending pictures in messages would always be a plus.

A Few Major Issues. People are leaving Bluesky to go back to Threads for 3 reasons 1. Bluesky allows adult content, while Threads doesn’t. Adult content was also a reason people were leaving Twitter 2. You can't edit posts on Bluesky while you can on Threads. That's another reason people started leaving Twitter. Twitter charges to edit posts while Threads allows you to do it for free 3. You can make longer posts on Threads. A lot pay for premium on Twitter just to write longer posts yet Bluesky seems to think shorter posts are fine You can't offer less and expect people to accept it. Bluesky needs to get rid of adult content, allow for editing posts, and allow for longer posts In essence, they need to be the decentralized version of Threads. That doesn't allow hate speech on their platform and will fact-check misinformation Threads' only true downside is they will shadow-ban people who fact-check others and those who call out hate speech. I've been shadow-banned at least 3 times on Threads for calling out hate speech and fact-checking people

Still no iPad app. (1) Still no iPad app. Are they going to stay as deaf to this need as Instagram/Threads are? (2) It is nearly impossible to move from another person's profile page back to the timeline I was in because one needs to use a back arrow that is practically invisible against the background of most users' profile images. (3) When I start the app, it often wants to fill the full width of the screen while sticking to the iPhone version of the vertical space. I have to quit and restart the app to make it work. (4) The web experience is better, but I would prefer an app on my iPad, which is what I tend to use for social media. Apps make it easier to interact with other apps on iPad OS. (5) Why is there no two-factor authentication of some kind for the web app?

Bot problems and feed doesn’t always refresh. Glad for a Twitter alternative- thank you!. The app is fairly functional and easy to use. I’ve had my account for over six months but didn’t use it much until the last six weeks or so when I finally deleted my Twitter acct. There are increasingly more and more bots/fake accounts following me- other than blocking there, doesn’t seem to be a way to remove them as followers all together. The other main issue I have is my feed doesn’t seem to refresh. I follow over 100 accounts, most being public figures who are generally pretty prolific on social media, however when I return to the app after, three or four hours, there are usually only a half a dozen new posts displayed, then the rest of my feed is the content I was looking at hours ago.

Strong foundation, but needs a LOT of fine-tuning. I got Bluesky after I stopped using twitter, and in comparison to current twitter, it is very good! However, there are still quite a few things holding Bluesky back from being as good as twitter was back in its peak. The bot prevention measures on Bluesky are quite lacking, and I get quite a lot of bots following me on a daily basis that are really obnoxious to have to block all the time. There is also no “remove follower” feature, so even if I block these bots, they still annoyingly warp my follower count and make it impossible for anyone to tell who’s actually following me! This feels like a very blatant oversight, and I really hope that the Bluesky team puts more effort into fixing the following spam problem! Other than my issues with moderation, I do actually enjoy the ability to make custom feeds and to pin or unpin feeds from my homepage. I’ve always hated “discover” feeds, so the ability to unpin that and replace it with “popular with friends” and “art: what’s hot” has been very nice!! I use those other feeds a lot and it’s very nice to be able to have so much customization be so accessible.

Great App, Up and Coming. I’ve found this to be a great alternative to Twitter (or what’s left of it anyways), as well as a good platform on its own. I love the inclusion of feeds, good tagging/filtering systems, and starter packs. It’s taken a bit of time to get my feed where I want it to be, but those features have been infinitely helpful in that. As an artist, feeds have been such a blessing to sort my posts into art and non-art media, as well as make it easy for others to view what is essentially a gallery of my work. The filtering/moderation on the app seems to work great as well, where you can choose to hide or warn of adult content and not have it jumpscare you on your feeds. It is missing some key features like bookmarking and saving drafts of posts, but I hope the team at Bluesky continues to work and add features because it is shaping up to be a great app!

Can’t view adult content on mobile…. As an nsfw artist, not being able to view nsfw on mobile is disappointing. I can view it on desktop. It is a bug so I’m sure it’ll get fixed. However, the moderation options are a great sign. I’m am a huge advocate for them. It allows people to express themselves while also keeping vulnerable parties, like children and traumatized people, safe. Too many companies go straight to “everyone must be squeaky clean and child safe” and it destroys creativity and genuine connection. Being able to post what I want to create and know that it won’t land in the laps of people isn’t meant for is freeing and bodes well for bluesky.

Serious issues with bigotry. I know it’s an invite only beta, but the management has put zero thought or effort into moderation (until it causes a scandal). Even when changes have been made re moderation there is no meaningful communication from management. Looks like they are embracing the self-moderation style (blocking) of other sites who are also infested with bigots except bluesky launched (beta) with no ability to block anyone. There is no Trust & Safety team, which they almost managed to get by with until they hit 250k+ users at which time trolls started creating accounts using slurs as usernames (including the n word). This is particularly egregious given management had invited big accounts from black twitter to build community on Bluesky when they first started accepting testers. This site, and it’s federation once that launches, will be deader than mastodon without moderation. Hope the VCs stop throwing money at Bluesky until moderation tools and a trust and safety team are in place.

Timeline order. I opened an account awhile ago. Didn't use it because there wasn't what I was looking for on here yet. With more people moved over, I decided to try it again. Without using it much yet, I have one major critique. The order of the timeline in the feed. It would be nice if it was where you left off last. Mine currently opens to the most recent post. You then have to scroll through post as the get older progressively. If you are trying to following something in chronological order from past to present, you don't always want to know the finish first. It would be nice to know how the events unfolded as they happened. I tried to look for a setting to change but could not find one.

Curation is nonexistent. Downloaded the app a bit ago after the recent changes to twitter and honestly it’s safe to say bluesky is a lot better. No ragebait or drama and everyone’s friendly with eachother. You don’t get bullied for just existing and people actually interact with your posts. The feed is full of wonderful artists and talented people too instead of just being based off who’s the most popular on the app. However Im not a fan of how difficult it is to make your feed match your tastes, even just a little bit. I know you can pin separate feeds to scroll through to see medias you enjoy but they’re often stale, and only show posts that include certain words which causes a lot of posts to go unseen due to not having those keywords. For example— I follow multiple jjba feeds and post almost exclusively about jjba, and most if not all of my mutuals post about it as well. yet in my time on the app ive only gotten two jjba related posts on my feed and neither of them involved any possible keywords. I understand the main feed is meant to be for discovering new people and making friends and whatnot, but I’d like to enjoy meeting new people who are from MY fandoms without having to join 20 different feed groups in order to meet them. It’s unfair that my feed is full of stuff like super mario and guilty gear but nothing that I actually enjoy. This is an issue for hundreds of people, please don’t ignore our complaints about this.

A good app for community. As a swiftie who just recently joined the app during a mass swiftie migration from another app, I’m very happy with Blue Sky. The ability to mass follow or mass block makes it feel like a safer app to talk with others that enjoy what I do and cultivate an experience I want from the app. It’s set up perfectly for those nostalgic for a later tumblr/previous-ownership-twitter type platform that isn’t filled with bots or trolls (and if there are any that pop up you can actually block them). oh and for now no ads, chronological timeline, able to support thousands of swifties joining everyday for a week without server errors, cool art that’s not AI? Yeah sign me up.

Better than Twitter. This app is still a work in progress, but there are already so many things that it does right. Free 2-step verification? Yes. Can you ACTUALLY block other accounts? Yes! In fact you can mass block accounts that are toxic. What about the character count, is it better than X? A hundred YES! I can go on about the pros. The only reason I haven’t given it 5 stars is because there are still a few things that I would like to see. For example, more gifs, or the ability to copy and paste gifs from my own searches. The ability to save a post (although, maybe that’s already a feature and I just didn’t know). Also the UI is ok, it just needs to be a bit better.

Don’t believe the fake negative reviews. Don’t believe the review bombing being attempted by angry bigoted trolls who don’t like not being welcomed & allowed to spew their hate & lies. The platform is growing like crazy, which you can expect to lead to some hiccups or issues (esp with moderation) but they have been quite successful in weeding out bad intentioned accounts. It also runs extremely smoothly for me now, which it did not used to during earlier builds. That has been a major improvement! Excited and hopeful for the future for this platform. We desperately need a space for the sharing of knowledge, love and acceptance.

I don't want them following me... but I can't remove them??? TRASH. This is basically what Twitter was before Elon Musty took it over. Either way I'm weary of posting on this app since there are lacking privacy settings on it. The inability to be private or at least remove followers that you don't want on your account makes it a little too easy for bots/trolls or plain folks you don't want following you to constantly follow. Soft blocking does not remove the follower, which makes that useless as well... Gonna uninstall the app until they get those simple things privacy items sorted out because I don't want a bunch of people looking to hook up, troll or bring 'X' vibes following me. BlueSky needs to fix it.

Need to give more user control on content preferences.. I know Bluesky have “no algorithm” but let’s be honest, everyone is seeing at least 20+ furry post a day. Nothing against people with those interest but it is clearly not for everyone - and as invite only platform Bluesky currently are predominately occupied by furry community. Again, nothing against it, it’s just not for me. It offers “for you” page but it is clearly not working. You can try to join a mute list subscription but it’s gonna always come through. Other feedback - app needs to be more polished especially with touch input sensitivity, it seems like the menu pop ups are more touch sensitive compare to other apps. Also haptic feedback on app would be nice bonus.

Nice window into the BlueSky. I’m happy to be out of the other social network and this app works well except for one thing for me. I’m right handed, but use my phone and scroll with my left hand. At least once a session I hit the button in the lower left of the timeline interface which auto-scrolls me all the way to the top, losing my place. The iPhone has had auto-scroll to the top for years (by tapping at the top). I know It’s a “lefty problem”, but is this button really solving a problem for a lot of users? I vote to remove it. Didn’t know where else to leave this comment. Thanks for the app and keep up the good work!

I believe in what it’s REALLY about. I believe in Bluesky. I believe in the core principles of what the app was truly about, which is decentralization. Outlasting the loss of the “mandate of heaven” when you have servers run by the people. For that I will give it the 5 stars it deserves. However, I also downloaded this app to be free of the toxicity of modern American politics and the fact that a lot of people think this app was created with the purpose of being “Elon free” makes it a major echo chamber of self reinforcing children. I had my blue skies, they were turned grey by morons. For the record, I hate both Elon and the president elect of 2025.

Almost good. This app has the potential of being a good platform, but it feels empty, and it’s missing a few key features that make a platform good. - Missing Video and GIF support. Without that simple component it is making the competition look a lot more appealing. No videos and no gifs means no life, it feels sterile - DMs. Being able to DM someone on this platform would make it great, it’s impossible to talk to anyone unless they have ANOTHER platform to talk on - A working Notification system. Half of the time I never know if I have notifications or not. I have to manually open the tab to see if I have any. Not only that but when I open it up and close the app, I can see that I have notifications, THAT I’VE ALREADY OPENED, so then I need to open up the app and manually click on the notifications to clear them. So much wasted time. And the notifications feel cluttered and messy, not a clean system. I have a feeling that adding just slightly more features, the quality of the platform will improve tenfold. Mainly the support for Video and GIFs, that would make the place a lot more appealing against its competitors. But for now, it’s easier to use anything else but this platform.

Missing a lot. With this app emerging as a potential strong twitter competitor, there’s a lot to look forward to in terms of growth and how it’ll develop to differentiate itself from other platforms, which it does. A free API to encourage third party apps, customizable algorithm, etc. But for every new feature it brings to the table, there’s two features from other sites like Twitter/X that it lacks. Post notifications. Bookmarks. Post views. Drafts. 4k images/videos. Images in dm’s. Notif when someone likes a retweet. Polls. Private accounts. Instead of prioritizing features like these, what have the devs opted to add recently? instead of all the features listed above, their #1 focus was… making a tiktok knockoff that literally nobody uses. If the devs truly want to make this app sustainable, they’d push out these features as soon as possible to keep people on the platform, but they have completely ignored its userbase. Also, yall gotta stop shoving politics down everyone’s throats. It is impossible to avoid unless you mute every single keyword related to trump. It’s agitating.

One reason why BlueSky is better than X/Twitter:. Bluesky has it to where if you block someone, they are no longer able to stalk because they can’t see everything else you are posting. Which is amazing. Because the reason why people block people in the first place is to make certain that potentially dangerous people are no longer capable of cyber stalking them. I don’t understand anyone who has a problem with this, in my personal opinion, they are only because they are trying to stalk them and now they can’t. You could set up your account to be on private mode, but to some people that is a bit of an over kill way to get rid of cyber stalkers.

Bluesky is the future. The developers are hard at work improving this space to be fair and safe for everyone. There are new features all the time and it’s growing really fast with better and better content. I have been using it for about a year now back from when it was invites only and slowly seen it get more and more momentum which is so exciting. It’s really one of the most promising social media forms out there that isn’t politically affiliated which is very very important these days. To the devs: keep doing what you’re doing and fight the good fight. Please don’t bend to corporate or govt powers and help us retain true and safe free speech. Y’all rock!

A Few Suggestions/Recommendations. Personally speaking, the app is essentially good and decently nice to work with in terms respectfully. However, sometimes in the discover feed it gives me things that I am not 100% wanting to physically see in general. Ruining a proportion of the experience itself as a whole. I wished there was a way to physically edit our posts to fix somethings when we post or to directly remove some interests without having to delete and recreate said account. Because then, it’d be just a waste of time specifically. It’s rarely worth mentioning but it would be probably necessary as some people are having issues with things in their discover feeds that aren't what they wanna see in those feeds. I barely see anything that interests me on the discover feed these days, all I see is some art here and there. But would essentially love to see more art too! Like original characters, fandoms, and even the ability to remove some interests to help fix the problems that plague my discover feed fully. I wish I could find the words to express how, but I physically don’t know what else to add into this other then suggest or recommend the idea so it can help other user experiences as well in the process as well.

Better than “X”. DOWNLOAD THIS APP!!! Bluesky is absolutely far and wide a superior experience to “X”, the app formerly known as Twitter. The UI is a lot more friendly, all the react animations are just gorgeous. They’ve added DMs, hashtags, videos, more timeline options, SO much accessibility and even better moderation than anything you could imagine. The few things they don’t have parity with on Twitter are voice messages, spaces, and currently DMs are text only so no pics, vids or gifs there! The Bluesky community is fed up with the hands-off approach of “X”, and it shows in their attitude towards trolling. This app is a SAFE SPACE and any and all disruptive behavior will be promptly actioned upon. Not only that, but the ability to add custom profile labels and even join community moderation groups is so refreshing. I’m a trans woman myself and have recently decided to step away from most social media, but the Bluesky community and their ever-so communicative development team have created a much needed break from all the harsh noise. Thanks Bsky team :)

Desperately needs proper iPad support. I see there’s at least one review from nearly a year ago mentioning how poor the experience on the iPad is. The iPad is frequently used in landscape mode, especially if one has a keyboard for it, and the Bluesky app STILL cannot deal with landscape orientation. It zooms in too much, it crops the content if you rotate the iPad to portrait in an attempt to fix it, and now it’s not even repositioning the view correctly when doing that. I know Bluesky’s dealing with a rapid increase in its user base, I know they’ve put a lot of work into other features like safety and privacy which are highly important and much appreciated, but this experience is extremely frustrating and seems utterly unnecessary. The Twitter/X app correctly handles this, the Instagram app handles this, why can’t Bluesky? It’s clearly doable, and the app should’ve been designed to handle this correctly from the start, not still be an issue a year or more later.

Great App. This app is an alternative to X/Twitter. It has a lot of the same features as X/Twitter with some minor differences. Mainly you can only post videos that are 60 seconds long. Anything longer you have to comment and add the rest. The block function actually blocks the user from seeing your posts. However, the algorithm on this app is not as fine tuned as X/Twitter. It needs some work. But many users on this app are friendly. You don’t have to worry so much about people just being mean to you just cuz you said something that seemed dumb to them. If you are nice, they will be nice. Don’t respond aggressively and you won’t have a problem. Keep in mind though that many users recently joined from X/Twitter. Many are still sore about their experiences there. You may come across users that are venting a lot about it or still have an account and are posting stuff that they see over there that is irking them. Just try to ignore it if you don’t like it. The Bluesky team is also struggling to keep up with Bluesky massive growth due to the X/Twitter exodus so try to be patient with them. The growth was unexpected and sudden for them.

I can finally post my art. Using Bluesky helped me be able to see what i wanted to see: Other genuine artists with the purpose to create. I love having a feed that is so positive with other mutuals. I get to see positive comments under peoples posts no matter if they are a beginner artist or have a profession. I recommend this to anyone who wants Social Media without the worry or stress about if there post is “good enough”. If you want to share something: a milestone, a walk in the park, something you made or anything that you find that can bring positive or initiate a discussion, I implore you to download Bluesky!

What social media should be. Search for what you like, follow starter packs, make your “Discover” feed exactly how you want it. Doesn’t show you irrelevant nonsense you haven’t asked for. Pleasant to use and easy to connect with others. Promising start for an (at the moment) new platform.

Great new social app!. Everyone on this app needs to actively give one star to Facebook, instagram, and x and give this app 5 stars… we can make a change…come on people 😊 Developers: can we please have full screen iPad Pro integration, and a way of logging in to other socials to bring access our friends? Thanks.

really positive!. i have really loved my experience on bsky so far. there seems to be an effort to keep the place positive and uplifting, and i love that i can add my own custom feeds. i only have 2 gripes - firstly, there isn’t much of an algorithm when it comes to my discover feed, it’s mostly just my following feed but not in chronological order, with some popular posts mixed in. while i do enjoy there not being as insane of an algorithm as twitter, i would like for my discover feed to show some new things from topics i interact with often. secondly, i would love for there to be a dedicated bookmark/saved post system. currently, most people reply to things with a 📌 emoji, which you can set to make it save to a private feed, but this is kinda annoying and being able to just save something would be amazing!

Love love love!. So far loving Bluesky, it’s easy to navigate as the interface is quite similar to twitter/X imo, although I would love to make my account private for safety reasons, please make an option for private accounts in the near future 🫶🏻

No way to remove unwanted followers. You cannot remove anyone who follows you on Bluesky. You can only hide them. They remain as a follower. You can verify this by observing that your follower count remains the same when you block someone. They are still there. I will use the app again if and when that is fixed.

The new place to be!. Wow this app has come leaps and bounds in 12 months! Love the interface and the feeds. Easy to find / hide content. Easy to use.

Sky is the limit. Bluesky is so much more than a social media app. It’s the future of social networking, as the underlying information protocol can be used by any social media company in the future to give users control of their own data and privacy. It’s time to take power back from multibillion dollar corporations and give it to the people where it belongs.

This is a much better place to be than Twitter. Twitter has gone down the toilet, we all know that. Bluesky, whilst technically not quite there yet, with plenty more opportunity to improve, is seriously a breath of fresh air. It FEELS like a better place to be, I can’t quite put my finger on it, there’s just something about Bluesky that just feels right.

Finally we have #hashtags !!!. It is pain struggle, finally blue sky is starting to look like a real social media app for people who actually discuss news and politics. Without hashtags, it was impossible to be able to actually follow a chain of ideas and comments

Great content, but app needs some tweaking. It is very frustrating reading BlueSky on my iPad. First as its designed for a phone there’s a tiny box surrounded by black. The second issue is more important. As I’m scrolling down, it will often suddenly jump back to posts I’ve already read. This is, to say the least, very irritating. I know they’re working on an upgrade. It can’t come too soon!

Decent app. I haven’t really used twitter much even before the name change. this is like Twitter. But a nicer version of it. I migrated from vent to here, to this app. Have tried other apps similar to vent. But this app’s design seems more friendly to use than anything else.

Twiddling toward federation. Identity is handled quite well and when the ability to run personal servers comes about… should truly be interesting. Something exciting about the birth of an extensible protocol as we enter a new age of accessibility with respect to the tools that manipulate the digital fabrics.

Love it. I like using the app as its easy to navigate. But I was hoping that they could add like bookmarks and collections of them. Similar to how you bookmark videos in TikTok. Does that make sense?

Needs work but overall good. Sometimes the app can lag a bit and hang on things. Needs some more work but with the huge influx of users lately it’s reasonable to expect teething issues. Bluesky > MuskX

Love the app. Refeshing app no bots or AI generated requests or reply’s , easy to use and community is growing fast , just need to get my algorithms up to speed and should be right as rain ,

It could have been great. Unfortunately management have opted for the same approach to “Trust & Safety” that made Twitter moderately unsafe (at least you could go private there). The protocol is great, lots of work to be done but lots of terrific work already done, but I can no longer wholeheartedly support the app itself. Bluesky is unsafe for marginalised folks.

The future of social networking. This app is absolutely amazing. They're constantly making lots of little but frequent updates which means it's constantly improving, it has a great positive community, is nice to use and is constantly growing. Best of all it's decentralized which means no one corporation can own or control it. But what's really promising is the opportunity to control content moderation yourself. AND you don't need to pay money to verify yourself if you own a domain name. The future is bright and it's a clear BlueSky

Please improve iPad experience. I would love to use this app more, however it would be so much better if it was more compatible with the iPad.

A stark lens to perceive social media through.. Artificially placed as no.1? The app would most certainly flop otherwise. Fearful victims are willing to migrate to a platform that facilitates censorship and moderation? To indulge in an echo chamber full of strong opinions about global matters and yet actively avoid exposure to such global matters? Honestly if you have become this complacent just join FB groups. Or Chinese applications, I mean whats the difference?

Great social media app. Thank you for creating a social media platform that is a pleasure to use. It will keep improving and I’m excited to see how it grows a developers are move people start using it.

Better than competition. You know what I’m talking about. The biggest competition of BlueSky is not as wholesome as BlueSky itself.

Lovely blue skies. What a refreshing change this app is compared to Twitter. Works well, great functionality and a proper working e-safety reporting system. No abuse, racism, hatred like there is on Twitter. Thank you BlueSky, great work!

Can’t rotate pictures. I can’t seem to rotate pictures. Makes text images hard to read

My new main social media app. Twitter is a mess since president musk let his insecurity leak into it. Bluesky feels more like how Twitter did at first and now that most my mutuals have swapped there’s no point using X

Getting better but key features still missing. Each update improves this platform But we need control over who can follow us (ie either allow a setting where we approve each follow) or allow us to force someone to unfollow without blocking then And same goes for starter packs. Folks can add whoever they want without permission flooding them with unwanted follows

App bugged. My app seems to be bugged where i can’t go on the dm page without the error message “could not resolve proxy did” can’t seem to fix this which is frustrating

Great community, needs some accessibility for users with low vision. I am enjoying using BkueSky, it’s a little slow because of needing an invite but we are getting there with our community. One big thing which would be great for our community is accessibility for people with low vision. Please consider upgrading the software to be accessible for large text & screen readers etc.

Brilliant!. A breath of very much needed fresh air in our horrible world of misinfo, and AI deep fakes. FB/Meta and X are cesspools of hate run by right-wing, anti-decency, money-hungry overlords. Bluesky is the literal opposite. The name says it all! Everyone needs this 💙

IPad version required. Love that we have a true communal forum that is not dominated by one person or their strange preferences, love conversations and lack of visible bot activity but screen is too small for aging eyes like mine. Hope future upgrades can rectify this. Also agree with pre review about time posting being mixed up. I suspect this will all sort itself out with future upgrades.

A social media app that shows you what you want, not random click bait. After Twitter lost its way, like many others I tried the alternatives (and still post on all of them) but when I want to find news and information about the topics I want and from the people I want, I fire up Bluesky. It’s continually improving with features that catch up and improve on the more established systems. It has very few bots, and doesn’t force content from users trying to game the platform like Threads and X does. Stick with it.

Real content. This platform actually works. It’s like Twitter was before it was taken over by algorithms to manipulate content at the behest of billionaires.

Finally!. Finally a sane and positive space that’s even better than Twitter was in its heyday. Twitter has become a toxic hole full of alt right freaks, incels and poisonous men who debase themselves at the feet of wretched Musk along with your garden variety of racists/antisemites/antiMuslim/misogynists/sexists /homophobes/MAGA idiots and the wilfully ignorant. An absolute wasteland. Thanks the Gods above that Bluesky has come along!

Great Platform. There are two reasons for using the Bluesky app. Firstly the app itself, which works well but needs enhancement in places. The other is the content which, if you don’t want to be bombarded by bots or far right lunatics, is far better than the alternatives. Blue sky has been going for awhile but with its newfound popularity it’s slightly to become a serious alternative to the other short message platforms, particularly given some newspapers are abandoning other sites, e.g. The Guardian abandoning X.

Women’s Art bullied off the platform.. There appears to be zero moderation by bsky which is useful and efficient. Both myself and PL Henderson aka womensart1 had wild accusations against us that we could not clear and those levelling them at us refused to back down or apologise. It’s an unsafe predatory platform that I’m unable to recommend. I’ll note that user Tressie, a black woman has also deleted her account despite being popular and with a following. I have zero doubt she did so because no other useful option. As of leaving in May 2024, no official onboarding, around 12 staff and 5 million users. An accident waiting to happen.

A Sensible Network. Few tweaks here and there are needed but overall enjoying this platform Just keep Elon Musk away and I will be very happy and grateful please don’t sell out for $$ for a extremist to take over and brainwash sheep

Can you please make the iPad version a horizontal orientation?. It needs to be orientated so that it fits within the iPad screen with the home button on the left. I downloaded the iPad version and it’s really meant for an iPhone. Otherwise all fantastic.

Vey easy to connect. Very friendly and quick updates. Similar to Twitter style but much more interactive. The one downside is a lack scale to pad usage, it is limited to phone screen size. This is a major downfall and could easily be fixed with the avalanche away from the Muscovite Twitter.

What social media should (and used to) be!. A pretty satisfying alternative to twitter that will feel very familiar to earlier pre-Musk twitter users. With the addition of a few more features such as drafts, bookmarks, group chats, and the ability to limit audience on individual posts (eg what twt circles was or instagrams close friends feature does) this app will move from a 4.5/5 to a 5/5! Right now Bluesky is very much functioning as “social” media should and did at its inception before corporate greed and chasing “growth” became more important than keeping a user base satisfied. Time will be the true test for this app- will it remain free from the capitalistic pitfalls of other social media apps, clogged up with advertising and bots and implementing algorithms that kill actual social engagement? Or will we see it go the way of many others and get sold to the highest bidder that guts it of everything that made it great? Hopefully the former! Love your work Bluesky team!

Persist last interaction. I’d love to have my timeline persisted to where I left it off last. I always like to use this type of social network as a way of keeping myself up to date to everyone I follow. Unfortunately, every time I open the app I am back to “present” and need to scroll back and remember wha to had seen or not.

Great. Good experience so far and great alternative. Additional features to DMs to share would be appreciated like gifs, videos and photos. Overall so far a very good platform

Really good, but needs upgraded user interface for certain devices.. Bluesky Social is really good, and I feel like I should be using it more. The userface is similar to X (formerly Twitter)'s interface, making it easier for users transitioning from X (formerly Twitter) to Bluesky easy, while still keeping it recognisable that you can tell the two apps apart. The only problem with the app I have is that Bluesky was built for users on phones, and thus not having a version for tablets, including the iPad models. Me, along with other users of this app, would like to see an update that give Bluesky UI more easier to navigate for tablet. Thanky you Bluesky employee for reading this review.

Needs post notifications. The major flaw with this app is the lack of notifications to alert us of time critical information. Add it as a subscription service if you must, but please add it ASAP.

Thank you humanity. … just when mainstream media and social media have become cesspits of the rich and deranged, we can look to the BlueSky for open, civility and some silliness.

Thank god we have something other than twitter. Only thing I would like is an iPad ratio 👍

The content is great, but the app needs work. As per usual, somone makes an app thinking iPhone and iPad are the same, there needs to be a separate iPad version so you get an actual good experience on all devices. I hate the “screen” size and how much you miss out on with widescreen view.

Feedback. Great app, if possible please implement the option of “pinning” posts and possibly new organisational function options for posts! I think would be a great new addition. As well as implenting “favouriting/bookmarking” and being able to organise them into folders similar to instagram’s organisational functions I think a good implementation would also be being able to edit your posts or tweets at any time after being posted please!

Frustrated. Trying to sign in. I was told my password was wrong so I made a new one via my email, it told me that I was now ready to sign in with my new password. Went to sign in with the new password and the app tells me it’s wrong again. I double checked it as I had written it down as I made it but it still says it’s wrong.

Urgently needs to get it together. With the collapse of the former bird site, and the antipathy towards the FB offering, Bluesky should be doing all it can to be the more attractive option. Yet, it is still invite only, still has no DMs, you can’t lock your account, and hashtags don’t work. Not to mention the fact that the app becomes almost unusable if you have your settings set to a larger font. This must be very frustrating for people with low vision. It’s annoying for me, and I don’t even have low vision, I just like a larger font size on small devices. Honestly, get it together! People want to stay there. They’re not asking for much, just a few privacy, safety, and inclusive features. Come on! Please!

Keeps getting better and better. Been so impressed with Bluesky as we watch it evolve in real time. The team is really responsive and involved in the community, and the app improves with every update. The philosophy behind the underlying technology is also compelling

Not formatted for an IPad!. Much better user space than X however……. In this day and age surely an app claiming to be compatible with iPads should actually take up the full iPad screen, not look like a tiny phone screen size and actually allow you to see what you are typing instead of the keyboard obstructing the text space when trying to write a post? Almost impossible to use as a result on an iPad. Seriously - overdue for a fix. Please act.

Feels like old Twitter in the best way. It's clear that the designers behind Bluesky learned lessons from Twitter, and are implementing features that reduce targeted harassment and algorithmic meddling. It's like Twitter but less shouty. My one criticism is that Bluesky doesn't seem to be able to not spam you with notifications every time someone likes or reshares your posts, which is table stakes for a social network.

love the app - but need an ipad version. So much better than twitter - I highly recommend switching. Using this app on an ipad is a bit annoying as it switches to landscape randomly and you can't see what you were doing. Please fix that when you can!

Finally, a decentralized social app for the masses. Bluesky is a great app if you don’t care about all this, go get it. But also it’s all built on an open system that enables collaboration and opposes lock-in. The team is doing something special here. It’s a social network you can feel good about contributing to!

My thoughts on blue sky. Couldn’t even create an account on this app because of absurd requirements on the user handle,… gave up trying,.. good luck with this app even the I’ve never had the chance to see if it was any better then Facebook or X……

iPad support required. It’s absolutely required these days to have ipad and other tablets support..

I-pad version, pretty please?. 🤞🤞🤞

not owned by elon. title

Ipad mod please. I want to keep using this app. it’s been awhile since it came out and still no ipad support

Bluesky Update. I just did the update today Nov 20, 2024 & now Bluesky doesn’t work.

Basically a Twitter/X wannabe. Really no difference between this and the platform everyone was so outraged about that they wanted an alternative. The same hate from both political sides and whiney posts and comments. A shameless copycat of a thing the creator supposedly detested.A waste of time.

iPad version. C’est un peu urgent. Ça ne fait pas sérieux de ne pas avoir de version iPad

Dangerous. This platform does not enforce its safety policies or TOS, and should not be considered a safe social media site.

Strange Moderation. Very toxic place, nothing done about the userbase who are all in love with harassment

Fun while it lasted. Used to be a fun safe place, now moderators have decided to allow bigots to run free. No point anymore.

Real review. Forget the low reviews, those are all trolls. Bluesky is the best social app to debut in years. It has a familiar UX to Twitter and feels good to use. It’s still in beta so it doesn’t have a full suite of features yet like DMs or video posts but it manages to not make you miss those things. Elon could never…

No action taken to keep marginalized people safe. Trust & Safety has broken the our trust and promised to not keep us safe. Thanks for being just like X but with less users.

Can’t even create an account. I can’t even create an account on the app, it’s showing me “handle too long”

The best twitter replacement. Twitter not being safe for artists anymore really got me to leave. When i discovered Bluesky, i felt so much better. It was like finding an old game that was shut down for so long! This place is well moderated and it feels like a fresh start with no huge creator drama. To be honest, twitter lost me the day they renamed themselves "X", making it unrecognizable. Bluesky has the old twitter vibes and its perfect. THANK YOU SO MUCH BLUESKY 💚

Doesn’t Actually Enforce Moderation. Until they actually enforce their TOS I won’t be back on this sinking ship

Lovely vibe.. Chill and easy to navigate

Early days but great. It’s an early beta but the community is great and the potential for something great is there.

Impossible de me créer un compte. Impossible de me créer un compte, malgré mes nombreuses tentatives pour obtenir un code d’accès. Réseau social pas très invitant…

All Politics. I spent two hours selecting not interested on every political post on my feed, I muted the word and tag “politics” and every account I follow is sports or art related. Blue sky still shows me posts that are ~70% political posts. People who say it’s like Twitter before Elon are lying. Really hoping they figure out their algorithm.

iPad?. Useless on an iPad. I’ll still have to use the browser version…

Account was taken down…. For no explanation at all.👎

Better than twitter. Absolutely is

Run by transphobes and bigots. a year ago this would be a no brainer five star review. this was a place flush with hopeful communities and a safe space for trans folk, sex workers, and members of the LGBTQ2S+. i’ve met many wonderful people and developed meaningful relationships and friendships on this app. but today the devs and mods responsible for Trust and Safety have let high profile and violent bigots, sexual predators, and transphobes (and that’s just jesse singal) run free causing harm to what were once thriving and loving communities. it’s a sad thing to experience; watching something you once loved fall so hard from grace. one star.

No iPad version. I read my socials on a iPad, not a phone. It’s 2024, plenty of iPads out there, so why no iPad version?

1 out of 5. I’m verified yet I can’t upload short videos.

GlitchSky. No privacy settings. Zero customer support.

unsafe platform. their refusal to ban hate speech is concerning.

Please, please, please make a version for iPad. I’m enjoying the app, but it really is a pain trying to use it on my iPad. I use the iPad almost exclusively in the horizontal, and the app is definitely not designed for that. The screen will suddenly get too big to view anything, or gets cut off on one side so it’s not readable. Once it’s fixed I’ll be spending a lot more time with it.

What trust? What safety?. The platform’s head of trust and safety is incompetent and doesn’t enforce the Terms of Service equally. If you’re a member of a marginalized community you can’t expect the platform to have your back and properly label and ban people harassing you.

Terrible moderation decisions. App’s haunted

used to be great. There’s no algorithm to mess up what you see and you can create lists to prioritize accounts you follow. Used to be great, but now they’ve let a bigoted pedophilia apologist and racist transphobe flaunt the TOS despite huge community backlash. Block lists can only do so much, and the Bluesky mods have dropped the ball big time here.

IPad version required. I can’t stand looking at Blue Sky Social through a little window on the iPad, hence I have to use the web version, which is not conducive to quickly tuning in. An app designed for iPad is a fundamental requirement

Fun fun fun. It’s like how Twitter used to be, but better.

Hateful trash. Sadly, trust and safety decided to prioritize hate instead of community.

Missing iPad Support. Overall the app is great on the iPhone, fast, beautiful UI and easy to use. It’s lacking iPad support and hope to see this become available early in 2025

iPad support. Where is the iPad version?

Decent effort, but lacking a lot of QOL features. Doesn’t have the same issues as Twitter/X in terms of spam/bigotry/etc but that doesn’t mean it’s devoid of criticism. The starter packs were pushed throughout my feed when I first opened my app, but after following just one, my feed was littered with topics not having anything to do with the starter pack (it’s impossible to know exactly what every person in the starter pack is going to post beforehand). However, you cannot unsubscribe from a starter pack, thus this QOL feature causing more trouble than it’s worth. Also, as someone who’s not American, politics were around 50% of the discourse, even though I didn’t follow a single political account. And the Discover feed is quite poor. If it wants to be like “old Twitter”, it needs some sort of trending page to keep user interest if their feed is inundated by 1-2 topics. An uninteresting feed devalues what the app has to offer. When you open Instagram for the first time, for example, Instagram can figure out pretty quickly what you’re into. My feed there is 30% cats/dogs, 40% pop culture and 30% NBA. BlueSky lacks this ability to figure out what you’re interested in. Can definitely be improved on however, but it seems they’re focusing on monetization so we’ll see how it goes.

Bluesky App SUCKS on iPad landscape view.. Bluesky App SUCKS on iPad landscape view. It’s ridiculous that an app in 2024 can’t work across different devices and views. When I use it on my ipad it just displays a tiny iphone screen :(

The best twitter alternative. It’s like when twitter was good!

Bugs Found. Please Fix. I tried to post art of mine today but once I posted it it didn’t show up on my “Posts”. It showed up in my Media but not for other people when they view my media. I also can pin or unpin posts from my profile.

iPad. I just joined and cannot submit a full review yet. I hope an iPad version will be made available. Not liking the small screen. Otherwise it seems like it will be a good alternative to other social media platforms that have become hostile, filled with bots and trolls. I will submit another review once I have more experience using this service.

No invite code.. Waited about a month, never received an invite code. I want an alternative to twitter like most people on bluesky I bet but hey, I’ll find something else.

No iPad app?. I guess since the iPad has only been around 12 years, and very few people own or use one, why would Bluesky develop a compatible app for it? The iPad is a niche device with no future.

It was nice while it lasted. The “it” being the lack of transphobes

A chill place to connect and post - better than what Twitter has become. You can have customized feeds so you’re not just hearing stuff you have no interest in - it’s like Twitter lists but feeds. Your algorithm is exactly that - what YOU want to see. You can turn off or on certain topics that you don’t want to hear about eg hate or sexual content. I like the invite code aspect - it holds the influx to a steady pace so the engineers and developers can handle the load. When Twitter went crazy due to imposed rate limits, a whole lot of people started posting on Bluesky, which slowed due to the load. There are only a handful of developers and mods and they worked overtime on the holiday weekend to stabilize and normalize the experience. They released two updates in the same day to accomplish this! Kudos to the developers. People waiting for codes just need to be patient. It’s like the old days when your friend would invite you to the party. No, it’s not celebrities - the load that comes with celebrity users is too high right now. The vast majority of people on there are average people who got invited by their friends.

2024 can never be 1984.. Say what you will about the politics of Elon Musk, or even the greater effects of the switch from sunny Reagan conservatism, to the divisive Trump era rhetoric. But the solution to what you perceive as a politically dangerous ideology, should never be censorship. When Ronald Reagan was governor of California, he defended the rights of the communist protesters. He did this out of a respect for the principles of free speech, and a greater respect for the basic pillars of democracy. When we censor the people, this leads to even darker, more authoritarian, ideologies being pushed to the silent core of our society. So whatever you think of Musk, Trump, or even modern politics across the spectrum, we should all come together in the name of bipartisanship, and genuine love for one another, and respect for freedom of speech. It’s clear, we no longer live in 1984, we live in “1984”. Don’t delete Twitter.

👉 Are you looking for an Adsense alternative advertising platform?

Adsterra is the most preferred ad network for those looking for an alternative to AdSense. Adsterra is the ideal choice for new sites with low daily traffic. In order to advertise on the site in Adsterra, like other ad networks, a certain traffic limit, domain age, etc. is required. There are no strict rules. Sign up!

Awesome app with great devs. Yes it’s still a work in progress but the devs are hard at work fixing the bugs. Each new release is better and better. By the time the Gen pop get in it’s gonna be worth the wait !

🦋 So far, so good. Better than “what used to be” the bird app/site. Familiar-looking, but calmer. I will absolutely NEVER EVER coming back to that “corrupted” hellhole that used to be the bird app/site ever again. 🪦 P.s.: Congratulations on 10 million followers, BlueSky! 🦋

Great social platform. I downloaded this app in the hopes of being able to replace Twitter, and I have been pleasantly surprised. It is still in its early stages but the community is amazing and honestly compared to Twitter this place is like a well-tended serene garden. There’s no unwanted bots, no trolls, and people are free to be themselves. All around, Twitter feels like anarchy compared to here.

Need to update Moderation on the App. Pretty confusing that in order to choose moderation for one’s profile have to do it on the website but can’t do so on the app-and when you do it on the website, it doesn’t factor over to the app so some content that one would allow to see on the app is censored on the app

Great, fun, and idealistic social media. Love this app. Yes, it’s kind of buggy and is still building aspects of the infrastructure, but overall bluesky offers the best of twitter with exciting new approaches to custom algorithms and decentralized posting. It’s got a community feel and nicely involved leadership. Come build it from the ground up!

Why does this exist?. I don't understand why this oh-so-exclusive service even exists. To me it's like the least interesting parts of Twitter and Threads got mashed together into an underpowered app that makes discovery difficult and it's just really weird. I couldn't wait to get an invite and then once I had one and used it I realized it's never going to be a viable Twitter replacement at this rate. That makes me really sad cos I had high hopes. :(

Needs to remember last-session position. The app is OK. It doesn’t have the polish of a Tapbots client, but few do. One really essential thing to add would be the ability to open the app and be taken back to the last position in your feed where you were when you closed it. No I have to scroll back, back, back, trying to remember what posts are new versus previously read.

Lack of curation and moderation. The most radical people fled to this app. Too much sex posting, no filtering. No hashtags, no news curation, awkward feeds. There is no curated feed with a mix of trending topics, news, memes; instead you have to individually click on a few awkward, stale feeds like “art feed” or “science feed@ for each of these. (There is no meme feed.) There is nothing for memes or trending or anything. It’s dead and no one likes your posts. There is nothing interesting or compelling here. Twitter, even under Elon Musk, is infinitely better than this hot mess.

The Twitter I was looking for. I thoroughly enjoy my Bluesky community so far – so many of the people I follow are funny and sweet and smart – and I'm looking forward to seeing the app grow and develop new features. Here's hoping it really can avoid emulating the worst traits of the other apps as it evolves!

Good but needs work since latest updates. Love the app but from the last few updates it constantly when I start to scroll down it goes right back to the top once and then I need to scroll down again. It’s a very annoying bug that has happened recently and isn’t fixed. It also needs an iPad native app.

Notification sounds. The only issue I have with this app, is I do not get any notification sounds and the iPhone settings doesn’t show a sound selection like it does for all of my other apps. Hope this Gets resolved soon

Pretty good. Just put in video.. I don’t normally write reviews, but I have to say this app is pretty much everything the app which must not be named used to be. All it needs is the ability to post videos and it’ll be all set.

Best social app. Best social app available! Combines the fun of Craigslist forums with posting photos from Instagram. Great space for people who are tired of negative people and people who post to cause drama. Fun place to connect with a wide variety of people. Free and in beta!

Extremely well done for a start up. It’s the new Twitter.. I love that it has the look and feel of Twitter, now X. I would recommend this over X due to its well done safety features. No bots are allowed to roam here, and it is gaining a lot of traction. This app will replace most social media platforms as it develops. Keep up the good work devs!

Meh. Great if you like cat photos. Haven’t figured out how to engage with others with similar interests. Don’t understand the seemingly random sequence of posts being displayed: 40 minutes ago, then one day ago, then three hours ago. Less toxic than that other site. No iPad app, just iPhone, so there’s that.

Better than twitter (X). fairly good onces your actually in and far better then twitter although its definitely not just better twitter eather its biggest issue is getting in after that your fairly good however this does make it much less toxic

Wish Refresh Didn't Auto-Scroll to Top!. Great app, except I like to pick up my timeline of Follows where I left off, and it would be great if the app would load new content, but keep my previous place, so I could scroll up from there to read.

Fun, better privacy controls, but suddenly can’t log in. Tried Bluesky as soon as it became available to the public. The Good: It’s fun! Block and mute actually work properly, meaning the community has been good about weeding out the truly toxic behavior we see over on Twitter. Science Bluesky is wonderful! The Bad: But suddenly, on Tuesday of this week, I can’t log in, with error “invalid identifier or password” on both web and iOS clients. I use a password manager, so there’s simply zero chance I’m mistyping, or have forgotten. I have gone through password reset process, still can’t log in. Opened a Helpdesk ticket: unresponsive. Devs: this is such a basic thing to get right; it’s a Priority Zero item. I guess I’m done with Bluesky now: I’m not setting up a profile and training it to what I want to see a second time.

Great app for a highly promising platform. Super easy and simple to use and connect with the rapidly growing community. The platform feels like the fun, freewheeling, early days of Twitter and is migrating many of the best people over, without the harassment and drama (so far). Very highly recommend.

Don’t hold your breath. This invite-only platform has been sitting prettily on my iPhone for (literally) months, doing nothing. I’ve seen many celebrities tout what a lovely time they’re having on it and how much better it was than the “birbsite”, and that’s great. But what other social media has is egalitarianism and the potential for the big names to interact with even their smallest fans. Bluesky’s walled garden ensures that’ll never happen. I’m not holding out for the invitation anymore. Deleting.

A Social Media Platform No One Can Use. What a great way to launch a new social media platform, by gating off entrance so people sell codes and run scams pretending to sell codes, it’s like Elon Musk is running Bluesky as well. Why can I download something I can’t use? Since when did the App Store start carrying early access? Excited to hand over your email address for a mailing list to be monetized on while people with money get to play in a walled garden? New old CEO same as old new CEO, why does this trash even occupy space on the App Store?

Great app! but... I am an artist who tends to do a lot of animation, and as much as I love this as an alternative to the hellscape that is bird app, I cant upload any of my animations which really hurts. Also without a proper tagging system its really hard to find fellow artists I didn't already know beforehand. Hopefully someday these will be added.

Suggestions. It’s not bad for what it is right now, but if this app wants to compete with Twitter/X or or Instagram it’s going to need a few more features such as: - DM’s - hashtags - better support/UI for iPad/tablet users wouldn’t hurt at the moment there’s not much that really separates this app from the others to keep you coming back to it.

Mods who listen and try to make it better - am I dreaming?. Any social media experience requires the user to curate to get the best experience but unlike Twitter the vibe is funny, smart, and engaging. People who are looking to be unpleasant should look elsewhere as they are easy to block. Oh and did I mention NO ADS?

Why isn’t blocking easier?. Blocking used to be as simple as clicking a name and hitting block. Now you have to go to someone’s profile. Thats as bad as X but the difference is on X Muskrat wants to get rid of block entirely. There’s no reason it’s so hard to block on here. Is someone is posting stuff that makes me wildly uncomfortable why the heck do I need to subject myself to their whole profile just to block them???

Massive Wasted Space on an iPad. I do virtually all of my social media browsing on tablet or desktop sized screens. I refuse to use a tiny iPhone-sized sliver on an ocean of wasted black space. Apparently, Bluesky management doesn’t see much value in millions of iPad/tablet users. Requests for a larger screen/landscape friendly version have fallen on deaf ears for more than a year now.

Promising app. So far it’s a wholesome version of social media before it became a cesspool of politicians and the 24 hour news cycle. I hope once the public is allowed in that there will be a way to hide the politicians and news posts.

love it. has twitter aliveness in a way *nothing* else has, but WAY more potential. soon you’ll be able to use custom algos, clients, etc. which will bring upon an age of healthy, thoughtful discourse 😌 also, you can exist without paying a tax (twitter blue) and link to substack without getting banned 😂

Old reviewers should try again. This is no longer a closed beta. The app works well and the team are rapidly adding features.

Notifications badges don’t go away. You have to manually switch back to the home tab to get rid of notifications badges. Otherwise great app and I can’t wait to see all the new features as they’re implemented.

Doesn’t support the iPad in 2024. It’s 2024, this app was released after 2020, it’s written in React Native, and yet it doesn’t support the iPad. (It’s trivial to support the iPad these days.) Also not available: any sort of “trending” support, so instead you get some set of algorithmically determined junk. But that’s fine, they say, you can pick the algorithm determining the junk it dumps on you. Here’s a giant list! Hope you like one of them!

Useful but has a glaring issue. This is about the app functionality, not the service functionality, and it is copied from a bug report -- after I have been reporting this many times. "And inability to copy individual bits of posts! This is REALLY ANNOYING, because it also means I can't look up words, can't translate via the iPhone's on board translation function, and can't grab URLs in this instance!"

refreshing. Way better than twitter. no algorithm, build your own experience, actively worked on by a dev team with the help of community input and a moderation team that actually does something.

Pretty good😁👍🏻. It’s pretty good, I’ve been using it for about two days and my experience on there is pretty good, The only thing that I have a problem with it is you can’t post videos only pictures, that’s really the only thing that I don’t really like about it but still it’s a pretty good social media👍🏻

A much needed change. No social media app is perfect, but anything is perfect when compared to the dumpster fire that is (was) twitter. I am glad to have no reason to use twitter, and am happy to live in the ad free space that is Bluesky.

LOVE IT , just missing a few options. I really this app, feels like nostalgic twitter and its super easy to use. I would like to suggest editing posts after posting, color-changing profiles and a links bar

Need a lot of work but has promise. The biggest issue is that you can’t see your liked posts. That’s like one of the most important things a social media site can have. No videos is also a killer, so I hope they add those two things soon. Once they are added this app has a good chance to make it.

Great, even in beta. The invite system that folks hate is pretty useful for ensuring the entire app doesn't break due to heavy load. It's a work in progress and IMO is way better than Threads already.

Barely functional on iPad. Click on an image, instead of enlarging to full size I see half of it. Most of the time I can’t read the alt text either, it’s not on screen anywhere. When I try to type a skeet, the iPad keyboard covers up the text so I can’t read what I’m typing until it’s posted. Thinking maybe I’ll delete the app, but I was having difficulty logging in in Safari. On my desktop the Blue sky stuff works fine on the webpage in Firefox.

It’s ok. It’s an okay app but I’m having issues trying to get stuff enabled like NSFW options on mobile, even your site greets me with a blank page when I try to do so. You need to get it sort it out or have an option to enable options on mobile, I always thought it was so unnecessary to enable things on website.

Like a life raft. For something in active development, Blue Sky more than meets my needs as an artist right now, especially given Twitter’s status as a sinking ship. I look forward to Blue Sky gaining more features as it matures! Support for iPad/tablet resolutions and installation as a Progressive Web App would be a huge plus for me!

This is the place to be. The app itself is still a work in progress, and not quite as much functionality as others, but it’s also simple (and getting better all the time). Best part is the social network contained herein is the best part though.

Missing videos and gifs. This app would be perfect if it wasn’t missing the ability to post a video or gif. I would love if they would add this feature already so I don’t have to get back on the hellsite that is Twitter (basically 4Chan now). Please please please add a video feature, I don’t imagine it would be that difficult and it would bring lots of people to the platform.

So far so good. The app has simple setting that do exactly what I want it to do. I don’t see posts that I’m not interested in and the community thus far, is far less toxic than other social media. No complaints.

Bluesky is great so far. Bluesky feels much better than X and I’m glad I joined it. Recently they added the ability to post videos and it’s very good. Also, with Elon Musk planning on removing blocking, I’m glad I didn’t join X. You should use this now!

Slow Rollout, but excellent experience once set up. Been slowing finding all my twitter friends as they make their way over. Wold be awesome if you guys could not pull an instagram and please develop an iPad app! Using iPhone apps on the iPad isn't a great experience, and people liked to use full-screen twitter on their iPad! Otherwise, great work 👍🏽

When???. Is it going to come out anytime soon?? I hope it’s a great alternative to twitter. Twitter has gotten poor updates and changes in recent times and I think it’s time for the next big social media platform to form. 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Like the old days of Twitter. Reminds me of Twitter in the mid-2010s – high-quality conversations, without the insane ads and right-wing slop. Really seems to have gained critical mass over the last month. Barely ever check X anymore.

great app most neg reviews are lies. lots of people reviewing this crying about "bigotry". havent seen any of this so already proven to be lying probably an X user trying to sabotage this wonderful platform. have noticed some twitter type behavior seeping into the platform though but moderation lists are amazing at filtering em out.

Notifs stuck. Incredibly grateful to start moving away from xitter but my notifications won’t clear from the home icon or in app notification bar. They just remain highlighted and with the number count not going away. Overall does not matter lol! It’s a little thing
