Bluesky Social Comments & Reviews 2024

💸 Want to send money abroad for free?

We transfer money over €4 billion every month. We enable individual and business accounts to save 4 million Euros on bank transfer fees. Want to send free money abroad or transfer money abroad for free? Free international money transfer!

For an early access app, it’s quite clean and quick!. I'm not going to sugarcoat and say that it doesn't have bugs, because it does. But then again, it is very early access. I love certain implementations - the way link previews (cards) work, and the way notifications can be expanded and collapsed to view all usernames involved in an action, etc - it's the little things. But I guess the beauty of it lies at the back end - with all the decentralization. It does have the potential to dethrone the already well-established Mastodon as the go-to decentralized microblogging platform, but that's way far into the future. Looking forward to future updates!

Needs to remember last-session position. The app is OK. It doesn’t have the polish of a Tapbots client, but few do. One really essential thing to add would be the ability to open the app and be taken back to the last position in your feed where you were when you closed it. No I have to scroll back, back, back, trying to remember what posts are new versus previously read.

Barely functional on iPad. Click on an image, instead of enlarging to full size I see half of it. Most of the time I can’t read the alt text either, it’s not on screen anywhere. When I try to type a skeet, the iPad keyboard covers up the text so I can’t read what I’m typing until it’s posted. Thinking maybe I’ll delete the app, but I was having difficulty logging in in Safari. On my desktop the Blue sky stuff works fine on the webpage in Firefox.

The Best Successor to Twitter. While it may take a while to get in, it definitely has one thing... A very welcoming community! I also love the general design of the app itself (I'm just not that big of a fan of the current icon, being a general picture of clouds) It feels like a proper Twitter successor where people can be safer than what Elon Musk has brought, and it's worth it for the wait to get in. One thing to remember is that it won't be closed off forever. I like to think the reason it's currently closed off is because they don't want to bring any bad people (fascists) in.

The IPad OS app doesn’t refresh. I will have to put it on the iPhone iOS, but as it is right now on iPad, the app doesn’t refresh. So, I can’t look back on what comments I posted, it doesn’t update the number of followers, and I can’t know if the comment replies are updating or it is taking a long time? For days, it shows the same numbers and same replies I made from a while ago.

Need to update Moderation on the App. Pretty confusing that in order to choose moderation for one’s profile have to do it on the website but can’t do so on the app-and when you do it on the website, it doesn’t factor over to the app so some content that one would allow to see on the app is censored on the app

Awful on iPad. This is just an iPhone app that the developers lazily said works on an iPad. It does technically work. But it’s a tiny iPhone-shaped screen in the middle of the iPad screen. It uses maybe 30% of the iPad screen. It’s such a basic error that it could only be intentional. They’re just too lazy to create a proper iPad version. Stick with your phone or use the website on a desktop, but skip this if you’re on an iPad. The developers don’t care about iPad users.

Can’t view adult content on mobile…. As an nsfw artist, not being able to view nsfw on mobile is disappointing. I can view it on desktop. It is a bug so I’m sure it’ll get fixed. However, the moderation options are a great sign. I’m am a huge advocate for them. It allows people to express themselves while also keeping vulnerable parties, like children and traumatized people, safe. Too many companies go straight to “everyone must be squeaky clean and child safe” and it destroys creativity and genuine connection. Being able to post what I want to create and know that it won’t land in the laps of people isn’t meant for is freeing and bodes well for bluesky.

The bursting bubble.. Great news for those who are thin skinned and can’t handle the first amendment. Where all the “bad people” are not present and you get to see and read only the things you agree with. The safe space of the easily offended and 🌈 folks; the “I’m right, you’re wrong” crowd fighting for “freedom of speech” but only when it aligns with their beliefs. I get it, triggered individuals need their platforms too, but it’s sad to see the continuing decisiveness being rooted deeper and deeper in the hearts and minds of what we once called our fellow human beings.

It’s alright. It’s kinda hard to find people worth following. Like I wanna follow people that post about outer space, rock music, gaming, etc. and all I see are gross furries and random political cr*p posted by unreliable news sources (like the New York Times and Washington Post) also there needs to be a DM function and that butterfly has got to go. It makes the app seem kinda frilly. What does a “bluesky” have to do with a butterfly? Try to go with some subtle cartoonish cloud aesthetic for the app logo/icon.

Almost good. This app has the potential of being a good platform, but it feels empty, and it’s missing a few key features that make a platform good. - Missing Video and GIF support. Without that simple component it is making the competition look a lot more appealing. No videos and no gifs means no life, it feels sterile - DMs. Being able to DM someone on this platform would make it great, it’s impossible to talk to anyone unless they have ANOTHER platform to talk on - A working Notification system. Half of the time I never know if I have notifications or not. I have to manually open the tab to see if I have any. Not only that but when I open it up and close the app, I can see that I have notifications, THAT I’VE ALREADY OPENED, so then I need to open up the app and manually click on the notifications to clear them. So much wasted time. And the notifications feel cluttered and messy, not a clean system. I have a feeling that adding just slightly more features, the quality of the platform will improve tenfold. Mainly the support for Video and GIFs, that would make the place a lot more appealing against its competitors. But for now, it’s easier to use anything else but this platform.

A strong start. This app's growth and updates have been incredible. I really love how we can see behind the curtain through direct dev communication and I'm looking forward to seeing the federation launch! Haven't had this good a time with strangers on the internet since Yahoo! Chat shut down. Allons y!

Great Start BlueSky. For those who miss old Twitter, this is as close as you can get to it. Not only that, but new features, such as custom feeds. A feature that was really needed by Twitter. I will say, I miss the Trending tab and Bookmarks, but I’m sure these features are to come. Also, my profile picture seems to default black photo even when I set an actual photo. Again, I am sure these things will get fixed. Overall, a great beta! Can’t wait to see what comes.

Useful but has a glaring issue. This is about the app functionality, not the service functionality, and it is copied from a bug report -- after I have been reporting this many times. "And inability to copy individual bits of posts! This is REALLY ANNOYING, because it also means I can't look up words, can't translate via the iPhone's on board translation function, and can't grab URLs in this instance!"

Like twitter if it were run by liberationists.. BlueSky right now is in beta. The only way in is for someone to invite you. If you act a fool and harass people you will be swiftly banned, and the person inviting you will receive scrutiny. This is all new right now, but the result is a space that’s actually free of right-wing troublemakers, fascist trolls etc. it’s… nice?

More of the same. First, similar to Twitter/X, it was unclear why I was being shown the conversations I was being shown. So I found it a little confusing in that respect. But secondly, my very first interaction was terrible. I made what what I thought was an innocuous comment on one of those convos, and was immediately lambasted with personal attacks. I could keep trying, but I was really hopeful that Blue Sky would draw in more curious people interested in good faith dialogue, different views, etc. And that doesn’t seem to be the case unfortunately. Seems like lots of people preaching to their own choirs for “likes”. Boring. It would be one star, but the screening process does a good job of keeping out all the bots. So, better than Twitter/X there. Extra star for having the insults come from a real live human being! Haha

I‘m in Heaven 💙. I hope Bluesky will go public someday. It’s the absolut Twitter Clon and I love it. It’s still in Beta and I got the invite from a friend. A view Newstations are also already there. But it’s in Beta and not public yet. People on here forget about it. Don’t give 1 star review for a Beta version if you have no idea how Betas work. I like to it and it has great potential. I’m also on Threads but it belongs to Facebook/Instagram 😑 I hope Bluesky will become the new Twitter!

Continues to get better with an involved dev team. So much progress has been made since bluesky surged in popularity with Elon’s mistakes. We have user lists, better block functionalities, email verification, better comment systems, and now, a new logo and a public interface! This 5 star review does not mean the app is complete. It’s a review of a BETA software that never claimed to be the final product at any point. Their low rating is undeserved and does not reflect the hard work of the dev team and the fantastic community

Good app… but. This app gives a lot more of a positive vibe than twitter does tbh and that’s awesome in all. With the number of users skyrocketing lately I can see great things for this app in the future. It just needs a couple of things to make it better. 1. DMS. I cannot emphasize how important this is in a social media app. Pretty much every other app has a dm system. 2. A way to switch between multiple profiles. Not all social medias have this but it’s still a very convenient feature nonetheless. I know this app is still in beta and I do strongly believe that they will add these features in the future but they should have been there to begin with.

Fast app with incredible community. The app is great, if still early. I’ve found a few missing features but few bugs. It’s amazing to me how fast the small team behind it pushes out updates. It’s an impressive display of decentralized technology. Gives me hope. I love the community so much. Kind and welcoming. The right mix of weird and funny. Really has quirky early internet vibes. At this stage, compared to twitter, feels more like connecting with people than promoting products.

Small creator friendly. I’ve only had this app for a little bit and I’m already reaching more people on here than I am on Instagram or Twitter. Just imagine my reach when my account grows and gets more settled. I also like the invite codes feature because it limits the amount of bigots and trash that can breed

Using on iPad is very frustrating.. I think Bluesky works fine on my phone, but when I try to use it on my ipad it does this really annoying thing where it switches from a vertical aspect ratio to a horizontal one every time a tap on a post, go back to a feed, or view a person’s profile. This make all of the content barely visible and I have have to scroll just to get through a single post. I know Bluesky doesn’t have an official ipad app but I’ve never had any other iPhone app do this on an ipad.

Needs HASHTAGS, DMs, notifications…. I love the app but it needs working hashtags. They make it easier to find people to follow and keep up with certain topics, etc. it also needs DMs & the ability to turn on notifications for posts from a profile, because there are people that I follow to keep up with important urgent information. I am trying to get settled in here and hopefully so will more of the people that provide important information I need to keep up with before Twitter gets even worse than it already is. Currently I still have to rely on Twitter for the post notifications because I can’t get them on here & the people who I have them set for either don’t post here much because they can’t cross-post to bluesky along with other platforms, haven’t even tried to sign up yet as far as I can tell, or they’re not impressed because the app still doesn’t have certain functions that make it easy to reach the audience they cater to. Btw, why does the app only allow ONE notification at a time for replies, likes, and such? As soon as another one comes in the previous one disappears. That’s a HUGE inconvenience.

Extremely well done for a start up. It’s the new Twitter.. I love that it has the look and feel of Twitter, now X. I would recommend this over X due to its well done safety features. No bots are allowed to roam here, and it is gaining a lot of traction. This app will replace most social media platforms as it develops. Keep up the good work devs!

A perfect fine alternative to Twitter (if you like Twitter). Though it's funny because the people in the reviews are outting themselves. The funny part about the furry nsfw is that you actively have to join communities for that and turn off the nsfw filter to see anything mature. Theres no algorithm yet and even if you're seeing that stuff on your algorithm on other sites it means you interact with things similar to it. 😏 I can see bluesky becoming more promising overtime when new features are added and more communities join in. Artist seem to enjoy the app so that's what matters to me the most to me.

Good but needs work since latest updates. Love the app but from the last few updates it constantly when I start to scroll down it goes right back to the top once and then I need to scroll down again. It’s a very annoying bug that has happened recently and isn’t fixed. It also needs an iPad native app.

A spiritual successor to Twitter. I have been invited by a friend to Bluesky some months ago, and have to say the app works properly. There are some stuff that should be fixed, like the addition of hashtgs to properly search for specific topics, a DM section to talk with those who you follow, but overall it’s all good. I do wish Bluesky goes public soon as this is an app I am using more often but many of who I follow on Twitter haven’t moved here yet. Keep up the great work and also love the app logo, feels unique and represents the app’s ideal to be a place to express your ideas.

Unimpressive. Mastodon is a far better solution currently. The interface of Bluesky is distinctly 2014, lagging far behind apps such as Mammoth. Federation is lacking as it uses a unique protocol, so you cannot see posts from Misskey, mastodon, firefish, Pixelfed, or the threads accounts with federation enabled. There is no obvious way to block or limit instances, and the invite system is rather pointless. I would like to see the system and protocol grow and improve, but as of right now, it seems like a half-baked alternative to using a functional social media platform like firefish/misskey/mstdn/pixelfed.

Like a life raft. For something in active development, Blue Sky more than meets my needs as an artist right now, especially given Twitter’s status as a sinking ship. I look forward to Blue Sky gaining more features as it matures! Support for iPad/tablet resolutions and installation as a Progressive Web App would be a huge plus for me!

Great social platform. I downloaded this app in the hopes of being able to replace Twitter, and I have been pleasantly surprised. It is still in its early stages but the community is amazing and honestly compared to Twitter this place is like a well-tended serene garden. There’s no unwanted bots, no trolls, and people are free to be themselves. All around, Twitter feels like anarchy compared to here.

Getting better!. User for a few weeks now. Since then they’ve added a few new features and updates seem to be steady flowing. App has nice look. Very reminiscent of early twitter. Much better than threads as it is. You can actually search posts with keywords. Just need something like the trending page and we’re solid here. Changing to 5 stars if that day comes

UI. Just got accepted into Bluesky a couple days ago. It's not bad, I realize it's still in beta mode but one thing that makes the user experience frustrating is that you can barely tell which replies are threaded in response to somebody else or to the original post. It makes my brain trip every time I go to the replies which is honestly the biggest deterrent for me with this app. Besides that, not bad for a developing app.

Needs work on iPad screen. I like blue sky social. It has a ups and downs, but it is a lot better than Twitter etc. so I really like it in my opinion it has more good than bad points. One thing that has to be fixed. On my computer screen, the blue sky page fill up screen like it supposed to Same with my iPhone . it fills up full screen like it’s supposed to I just got a new iPad and I download the app was going to be really happy with it, but the app only filled up about a third of the center of the screen the other to turn around it are black looks kind of funky When they fix it appears on the screen that’s the step up for them that would be great. Otherwise I would give them five star but for this, I’ll give them a four star but they are doing a great job.

Needs two simple things to make it truly usable. To be worth using and to make it functionally usable for me: Needs push notifications on lock screens and needs basic "people you follow"-type information listed on profiles. The second is SO IMPORTANT when you're setting up and starting from scratch again. If you're a big account on Twitter it's not easy switching over to begin with, but it's almost impossible without some help sorting. These two things would fix a whole lot: lock screen notifications get eyes to the app, and shared/known followers to help you nest and settle in. Then, obviously, video.

Few bugs here and there! Will be a great app with some time!. A few bugs (?) exist currently: the most glaring one is not getting push notifications for likes or reposts even though app permissions are enabled. Not sure if this just isn’t implemented or an actual bug. Feature request: 1) Currently, when I launch the app, it does not seem to re-poll the feed I’m on for new posts. Ideally, it would re-poll but leave me where I left off on the feed and allow me to jump to the top with the button that already exists. (Again not sure if this is current intended behavior or not implemented). Still new to Bluesky. 2) Support for direct messages would be cool!

Bro that waitlist 💀. I don’t think having a waitlist which sends out invite codes at a glacial pace is a very good idea. Not only does it delay growth of the site, but many will lose interest and maybe even forget about the site by the time they finally receive their invite a year later. If you don’t have the resources to account for a social media, which is obviously going to have lots of people joining it, maybe just don’t host one? Threads by Instagram started right out the gate with no invite system. Side note: the exclusivity factor of the site that the invite system provides does not entice people to join, it makes them not even want to bother.

More than fine!. Don’t listen to the low star reviews. Any issues that have been raised are those to be expected from a budding and early site/app. A waitlist is to be expected while the structure of the place is being set up, there is a GitHub page to openly show what is being worked on at the moment, and self content labeling was just implemented. The team is listening and learning from the failures of Twitter, and I’m all in. To those of you complaining about the waitlist, don’t expect anyone to reward your childish outbursts with an invitation. We’d rather go on without you.

Serious issues with bigotry. I know it’s an invite only beta, but the management has put zero thought or effort into moderation (until it causes a scandal). Even when changes have been made re moderation there is no meaningful communication from management. Looks like they are embracing the self-moderation style (blocking) of other sites who are also infested with bigots except bluesky launched (beta) with no ability to block anyone. There is no Trust & Safety team, which they almost managed to get by with until they hit 250k+ users at which time trolls started creating accounts using slurs as usernames (including the n word). This is particularly egregious given management had invited big accounts from black twitter to build community on Bluesky when they first started accepting testers. This site, and it’s federation once that launches, will be deader than mastodon without moderation. Hope the VCs stop throwing money at Bluesky until moderation tools and a trust and safety team are in place.

It Is Time To Remove This App from the App Store. I have been waiting forever to use this app. I have spent too long waiting to use it. Only selected users are allowed to use this app. Well, many use this app in my face while I’m still waiting to use it, I have decided to remove it from my iPhone 14 Pro Max 1 TB. The Apple App Store does not need to help app makers who conduct their business as if they were some type of secret society. This app creator needs to take his or her app straight to a dot whatever and needs to be removed from the Apple App Store. I strongly suggest end-users try the newly revamped, former-Twitter called, X.

Why the wait?. They’re putting people on waitlist for ever, the enthusiasm is slowly dying out. Now I see some people trying to sell the invite codes. Is that their endgame? 🤷‍♂️ Come on, guys! If you let some people in on the BETA version, why discriminate against others? Is there any serious technical reason why you’re keeping some people in the dark? Apple didn’t have to know me before signing me up for their Beta updates. They don’t have to, it’s a waste of time! If it takes more than another month for me to get the invite, then forget this.

iPad version please. I just joined today after spending 1 year on the waiting list and I am interested so far but was disappointed to find out there isn’t an iPad version of this app (like Twitter has) so I am stuck looking at a small screen when I use this app on my iPad. Please make an iPad version then I will change to 5 stars. Also love that this app has a translate feature for other languages but I don’t like that it opens the google translate app instead of just showing the translation in the Bluesky app.

Need to give more user control on content preferences.. I know Bluesky have “no algorithm” but let’s be honest, everyone is seeing at least 20+ furry post a day. Nothing against people with those interest but it is clearly not for everyone - and as invite only platform Bluesky currently are predominately occupied by furry community. Again, nothing against it, it’s just not for me. It offers “for you” page but it is clearly not working. You can try to join a mute list subscription but it’s gonna always come through. Other feedback - app needs to be more polished especially with touch input sensitivity, it seems like the menu pop ups are more touch sensitive compare to other apps. Also haptic feedback on app would be nice bonus.

Really hope this takes off. Been using Bluesky for a couple of days. Completely sold. It’s a strange and wonderful feeling to use a social network where you feel in control. Development is pretty rapid right now with new features being added all the time but I think the potential to replace any other social media I use is there.

Needs an iPad version. I’m writing this review because while this app is meant for iPhone, it should have a version that works with iPad, too, since I use that for nearly everything I do. When I open it with my iPad, it looks the same as if you were using it for your phone. What I mean is that it needs to stretch to fit the screen when on iPad, kind of like how X looks when you use it on there. Until then, I’ll refrain from using it.

It’s getting BETA all the time. I’ve never seen a more responsive and conscious team on any project of any type. CEO Jay is working to build the app, build a team, and connect with people on the app and even in real life! The entire team is dedicated and their commitment really shows. This app isn’t near finished at this time. If you’re expecting an app with features like Facebook or Twitter - you’re better off waiting until the app is officially released. If you want to complain about challenges on the app or bother people for invites - you especially need to wait until the official release. This is an amazing team doing amazing work to usher in the next era of social media. An era that goes beyond extracting profit from human interactions and instead focuses on letting users control their own data. Excited to see this grow!

Amazing. The app is a little buggy, but it still gets 5 stars for the work the devs have been putting in and the community they’re curating. It really feels like early social media. People are talking about their actual interests. People are having fun. There aren’t 200 people yelling slurs at you every time you post. It’s the most wholesome and welcoming online experience I’ve had in a long time. It’s idyllic and the fact that everyone is happily overlooking any faults with the tech should tell you how badly we needed a space where people are normal.

Great start, needs polish. Somehow they screwed up the toggles. An important toggle is the “mature content filter” and I’ve had it mess up on me. I’ve literally seen those toggles flip back to its original position after I tapped it. Never had issues with basic UI like this before. I wish I could set it with a focus mode or schedule but I’ll take WORKING to start. Also there’s no DMs, really limits interactions when you can’t take private info to a private place. You can’t trade any info on Bluesky without it being public.

Loving it so far. Pretty much like old twitter. My only complaint is that I wish there was a photo album i could long term post photos in. Its one of the few things i felt twitter was missing in its glory days. I even so, its fluid and im having no problems with it. The user face is quite simple. Will still give it 5 stars

Ugh. Well, they did a good job making it seem important by making it by invite only but I really don’t like it. So far every time I open the app I’m like looking at other peoples conversations and it’s confusing to me. I don’t wanna look at other peoples conversations if I want to see what other peoples opinions are on some thing, then I will click on the comments and read them and that’s usually where every troubles starts and I don’t like to read the comments usually so if I open the app and all I see is like somebody replying to somebody else. It just doesn’t even make any sense, where is the actual content like I don’t even know what they’re talking about. The app seems very disorganized and confusing and so far I haven’t seen any insanity yet like the ex or Facebook which was the whole point I guess but I just don’t understand how this is supposed to be showing post of things when all I see is other peoples conversations.

Is this really a beta?. So full stop I’m not a tech person. Got invited to beta test bluesky off the waitlist. While there are occasional times the feed loading gets wonky- and I’ve experienced this a handful of times in the past week- it’s also very intuitive, and it evolves while you are using it. It has been hands down the coolest social site I have ever been a part of. Remember watching Star Trek? Or your first MySpace experience? When you were like-technology really can’t be that ‘human’. Scrolling through Bluesky is that kind of experience- where you feel connected to humanity. And yes- the users are pretty legit amazing. Being a beta tester I went in there without any connection or community- and was quickly embraced by so many. If you’re lucky enough to get an invite, don’t sit on it.

Urgently needs to get it together. With the collapse of the former bird site, and the antipathy towards the FB offering, Bluesky should be doing all it can to be the more attractive option. Yet, it is still invite only, still has no DMs, you can’t lock your account, and hashtags don’t work. Not to mention the fact that the app becomes almost unusable if you have your settings set to a larger font. This must be very frustrating for people with low vision. It’s annoying for me, and I don’t even have low vision, I just like a larger font size on small devices. Honestly, get it together! People want to stay there. They’re not asking for much, just a few privacy, safety, and inclusive features. Come on! Please!

App. Seems like a good new service, but how do I join? I really want to join

Keeps getting better and better. Been so impressed with Bluesky as we watch it evolve in real time. The team is really responsive and involved in the community, and the app improves with every update. The philosophy behind the underlying technology is also compelling

Blue sky. Really need a format for iPad It’s just to small hard to navigate

Not iPad Ready. App displays like a phone screen and only uses 1/3 of the screen. Works well over wise but horrible to look at in this state. iPad Pro

Not formatted for an IPad!. Much better user space than X however……. In this day and age surely an app claiming to be compatible with iPads should actually take up the full iPad screen, not look like a tiny phone screen size and actually allow you to see what you are typing instead of the keyboard obstructing the text space when trying to write a post? Almost impossible to use as a result on an iPad. Seriously - overdue for a fix. Please act.

Twiddling toward federation. Identity is handled quite well and when the ability to run personal servers comes about… should truly be interesting. Something exciting about the birth of an extensible protocol as we enter a new age of accessibility with respect to the tools that manipulate the digital fabrics.

Still waiting. I have been waiting two months for a code to join the app. Not the most appealing way to gain members

Invite code not working. I received the invite code but the app won’t accept it.

The future of social networking. This app is absolutely amazing. They're constantly making lots of little but frequent updates which means it's constantly improving, it has a great positive community, is nice to use and is constantly growing. Best of all it's decentralized which means no one corporation can own or control it. But what's really promising is the opportunity to control content moderation yourself. AND you don't need to pay money to verify yourself if you own a domain name. The future is bright and it's a clear BlueSky

Wait List Simulator.. Still waiting.

What’s the point. Wish version of twitter

Sky is the limit. Bluesky is so much more than a social media app. It’s the future of social networking, as the underlying information protocol can be used by any social media company in the future to give users control of their own data and privacy. It’s time to take power back from multibillion dollar corporations and give it to the people where it belongs.

Poor onboarding process. Got the invite, tried to sign up. Invalid invite code error.

Finally we have #hashtags !!!. It is pain struggle, finally blue sky is starting to look like a real social media app for people who actually discuss news and politics. Without hashtags, it was impossible to be able to actually follow a chain of ideas and comments

Asking for invite code. Just release it to the public already!

What’s the point?. You’re gonna lose the race to dumb threads from Facebook of all companies! Get your act together and open up this platform, don’t allow Facebook/Meta to steal even more data from its users….

App crashed. I’ve just got the invite and it keeps freezing each time I type. Happy to change my rating if I can get into it. It will take a great experience to move me from X, since Musk bought Twitter and renamed it X, it has improved 1000%

Smutty app. I joined believing it was a good platform for photography posts etc. The posts on my feed were nudes, smutty dialogue etc. I tried to delete my account and had to get email with code and then put my password. Did this and still couldn’t delete my account. What is this? Dodgy App

Great community, needs some accessibility for users with low vision. I am enjoying using BkueSky, it’s a little slow because of needing an invite but we are getting there with our community. One big thing which would be great for our community is accessibility for people with low vision. Please consider upgrading the software to be accessible for large text & screen readers etc.

Peter Molyneux delivers more on promises. I’ve given up trying to join this app. So utterly disappointed.

The community is great but the iPad app is awful. On the iPad I can read about 3 lines , it looks like it thinks it is on a phone. Please fix…

It’s a great app! But somethings need some topping up. The app is an excellent way to socialise and connect! Essentially a less chaotic twitter, honestly I would prefer this over twitter any day and I understand it’s still a work in progress, so here are some of the things I think need a little fixing. -be able to set account to private or be able to lock it -able to add hashtags -A little bit improved user interface -add a font capacity ( this could help stop the people complaining because of the font rendering the app useless, by having a max font size) Overall I think it’s a great app! I use it on my girlfriends phone and I think its great! Just fix the little problems because they can become small to bigger problems over time. So I’m currently waiting for my invite code to join in. -5 stars-

App freezes when entering invite code. Can’t create an account, can’t use it at all as when I even type the first letter of the invite code the app freezes and crashes. Same if I paste, just freezes. Useless.

Do better.. Genuinely my only issues with this app, so far, is the stupid invite code and also the fact that this is NOT an iPad app. Fix those two things and it’s an instant 5 star.

Really good, but needs upgraded user interface for certain devices.. Bluesky Social is really good, and I feel like I should be using it more. The userface is similar to X (formerly Twitter)'s interface, making it easier for users transitioning from X (formerly Twitter) to Bluesky easy, while still keeping it recognisable that you can tell the two apps apart. The only problem with the app I have is that Bluesky was built for users on phones, and thus not having a version for tablets, including the iPad models. Me, along with other users of this app, would like to see an update that give Bluesky UI more easier to navigate for tablet. Thanky you Bluesky employee for reading this review.

Sign-in Issues. Despite obtaining the invite code and diligently following instructions, I've encountered persistent bugs in the app that prevent successful sign-in. Hoping for a smoother experience with future updates

Bluesky is better than (x)twitter. Thank you previous ceo of twitter creating a bluesky social media app. At least this is peaceful than (x) formerly twitter ^^ plus twitter is toxic

The best twitter alternative. It’s like when twitter was good!

Warning: has a waitlist. If you’re looking to try alternatives to Twitter and other social media, I hope you have an invitation. Otherwise you’ll be waiting. Look elsewhere until it fully launches, whenever that is.

A chill place to connect and post - better than what Twitter has become. You can have customized feeds so you’re not just hearing stuff you have no interest in - it’s like Twitter lists but feeds. Your algorithm is exactly that - what YOU want to see. You can turn off or on certain topics that you don’t want to hear about eg hate or sexual content. I like the invite code aspect - it holds the influx to a steady pace so the engineers and developers can handle the load. When Twitter went crazy due to imposed rate limits, a whole lot of people started posting on Bluesky, which slowed due to the load. There are only a handful of developers and mods and they worked overtime on the holiday weekend to stabilize and normalize the experience. They released two updates in the same day to accomplish this! Kudos to the developers. People waiting for codes just need to be patient. It’s like the old days when your friend would invite you to the party. No, it’s not celebrities - the load that comes with celebrity users is too high right now. The vast majority of people on there are average people who got invited by their friends.

It’s like Twitter, but better. BUT push notifications never work, even when I have them enabled.

Bof. Pas grand chose à voir

Twitter, but it doesn’t make me nauseous.. Just got it today and it’s infinitely better than Twitter is. I rate it 3/5 though, since there’s no iPad version of the app. It’s perfectly serviceable in the browser; I just hope they add an iPad version soon.

Please allow private accounts. I would like to have a private account

Can’t sign up - app freezes and then crashes. I finally got my invitation code and I went to sign up, but I can’t because every time I try and put the code in when prompted, my app freezes entirely then crashes soon after! I’m sad that I can’t sign up as I was excited to.

One thing preventing me from using.. I thought about giving this site a try but I primarily use social media on mobile. And bluesky not having a proper mobile setup is the only gripe that makes me not wanna use it. Please work on a mobile bluesky and I’ll give it another chance.

cool. it’s basically twitter all over again

Super!.

🦋. Beautiful butterfly

No iPad app?. I guess since the iPad has only been around 12 years, and very few people own or use one, why would Bluesky develop a compatible app for it? The iPad is a niche device with no future.

Terrible. Never mind about it being mentioned like the old twitter if you ain’t invited forget.

BlankSky not Bluesky. I got the invite code December 22. I tried to create the account but it said I needed to update the app so I did that and tried again to create the account, but it wouldn’t let me type in my email address and when I tried again, it shut down so I’m wondering now what all the hype is about this site compared to others

No iPad app. Needs an iPad app asap.

Can’t even create account. I’m sure it’s a decent social media site but I don’t know because the app freezes as soon as I put in a single letter of my invite code and eventually force closes itself. Seems like a major flaw in app design

Temper your expectations. At the time of writing this is an early version of the app and it’s fair to expect bugs, missing features, etc. What is here though is quite polished and updates are frequent with bug fixes and feature additions. The underlying protocol powering the client and server is what’s really exciting ATP has the potential to really transform social networking and I’m excited to see where it takes us!

Code doesn’t work. I got my incite code but it’s saying it’s not valid! Please fix this!!!

Fun fun fun. It’s like how Twitter used to be, but better.

Loving it.. Awesome app.

Needs an iPad app. BlueSky and the app itself seem great so far - a lot of promise - but 90% of my social media activities are on my iPad. Yes, I can open it I. A browser for now, but that’s not really a solution. iPad app, please.

If you aren’t a “person of interest”, don’t bother. • There’s a waitlist before you can sign up. • The waitlist caters to celebrities, journalists and other persons of interest. If you aren’t either of those, you won’t get an invite. • The waitlist has been intact for a very, very long time. Don’t hold your breath.

iPad support please.. I really like this service and the app. An iPad version would be nice since most of my activities are done there. I wouldn’t miss when the app switches to landscape lol.

Community Driven, 5 Star vibes!. Still in beta and already more user friendly than any Social Media app I’ve used. The Bluesky Team is accessible, responsive and dedicated to building a better platform with user controls that put individuals in the driver’s seat.

It’s 🔥. the good kind

Early days but great. It’s an early beta but the community is great and the potential for something great is there.

Could seriously use an iPad app. The phone app is lovely, but has many issues on iPad. It’s my preferred way to browse the few social media sites I still bother with and having something that works better would be appreciated.

Hey Jack its me ur brother. Can I has invite

Real review. Forget the low reviews, those are all trolls. Bluesky is the best social app to debut in years. It has a familiar UX to Twitter and feels good to use. It’s still in beta so it doesn’t have a full suite of features yet like DMs or video posts but it manages to not make you miss those things. Elon could never…

No invite. Unless you are a reporter or a celebrity, don’t bother because you will never get an invite. Better off with Threads. Still waiting for an invite. 6 months now.

Four stars until we get an iPad version. Love Bluesky. Dislike the iPhone version on iPad. I look at my iPad in the landscape format and as I scroll down my feeds, it will randomly extend the view to wide screen so I can hardly see one full post without scrolling down. It will revert to normal if I close and open it. Frustrating!

No public access. Please give me invitation 😭😭😭😭😭😢😢😭😢😢😢😭😭😢

Wait is terrible. I’ve been looking to sign up since it’s been released. I’ve asked for codes on the waiting list since the apps release but no code have been sent. Really feeling singled out here.

🧵. Threads has a sharper user base and more sleek design.

Open to the Public - It's been too long!. Left Twitter cos of the toxic platform it became after you know who took it over. BlueSky is like a breath of fresh air ... "kind of" similar to the old Twitter. It's taking a bit of getting used to tho!

What? Why the hell?!. I cant seem to enter the app? The hell is going on? Please be fast and fix this problem with haste before i start thinking twice please

An iPad version please. Running the iPhone version on an iPad is not the best way to enjoy this excellent social media.

Lovely vibe.. Chill and easy to navigate

No invite code.. Waited about a month, never received an invite code. I want an alternative to twitter like most people on bluesky I bet but hey, I’ll find something else.

Let’s Goooo! Waiting for iPad support.. Everything seems to run smooth, works well. Since I social media mostly on larger screens, will be nice when they spend a week and get the iPad screen supported.

iPad. I just joined and cannot submit a full review yet. I hope an iPad version will be made available. Not liking the small screen. Otherwise it seems like it will be a good alternative to other social media platforms that have become hostile, filled with bots and trolls. I will submit another review once I have more experience using this service.

Can’t do anything. Constant crashing during account setup on my XR

The best twitter replacement. Twitter not being safe for artists anymore really got me to leave. When i discovered Bluesky, i felt so much better. It was like finding an old game that was shut down for so long! This place is well moderated and it feels like a fresh start with no huge creator drama. To be honest, twitter lost me the day they renamed themselves "X", making it unrecognizable. Bluesky has the old twitter vibes and its perfect. THANK YOU SO MUCH BLUESKY 💚

Speed. App is really slow. And today, I was logged out after updating

Wait list. How long is this wait list? 6 months a year?

Everything is public. I was really excited to sign up , and got my invitation within a few weeks. It looks great so far. However , I won’t be using it because everything I post is public. Privacy is extremely important to me! Hopefully they change this in the future.

Can’t create an account. Finally received an invite code and cannot create an account. App freezes every single time

👉 Are you looking for an Adsense alternative advertising platform?

Adsterra is the most preferred ad network for those looking for an alternative to AdSense. Adsterra is the ideal choice for new sites with low daily traffic. In order to advertise on the site in Adsterra, like other ad networks, a certain traffic limit, domain age, etc. is required. There are no strict rules. Sign up!

When???. Is it going to come out anytime soon?? I hope it’s a great alternative to twitter. Twitter has gotten poor updates and changes in recent times and I think it’s time for the next big social media platform to form. 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Why does this exist?. I don't understand why this oh-so-exclusive service even exists. To me it's like the least interesting parts of Twitter and Threads got mashed together into an underpowered app that makes discovery difficult and it's just really weird. I couldn't wait to get an invite and then once I had one and used it I realized it's never going to be a viable Twitter replacement at this rate. That makes me really sad cos I had high hopes. :(

brand new bag. Really easy to use and navigate, missing features like gifs and video at the minute, but far more easy to use then twitter or instagram.

Notification sounds. The only issue I have with this app, is I do not get any notification sounds and the iPhone settings doesn’t show a sound selection like it does for all of my other apps. Hope this Gets resolved soon

love it. has twitter aliveness in a way *nothing* else has, but WAY more potential. soon you’ll be able to use custom algos, clients, etc. which will bring upon an age of healthy, thoughtful discourse 😌 also, you can exist without paying a tax (twitter blue) and link to substack without getting banned 😂

Bluesky is Birdapp's Better Angel. I haven't experienced this amount of excitement and real supportive community online since the early days of the internet. I hope it stays this pleasant for as long as possible.

So Fun. I love this app. It’s super fun to use and gives the user much more control over content filtering than other social media apps. It’s a great community and the development team is awesome.

False Negative Reviews, great app once in.. The app is great! Most of these negative reviews are complaining about not being able to get on because of beta! But app should be public soon!

Super positive and fun community. Certainly a bit rough around the edges especially for features (e.g. video) but the client is shocking responsive and the community on Bluesky is a ton of fun. Has more-or-less replaced all of my Twitter usage.

Don’t like the new logo or name. Looked better with clouds and just BlueSky, no one asked for a butterfly or a name change. As other users have stated as soon as you open the app it shows you other peoples conversations, I am not interested in seeing other peoples conversations unless I click on a post then look at the comments.

Haven’t enjoyed a social media app this much in a long time!. Love love love Bluesky. The team is responsive and they communicate to users. The app works great! I haven’t had any crashes or bugs. The community is fantastic.

Promising app. So far it’s a wholesome version of social media before it became a cesspool of politicians and the 24 hour news cycle. I hope once the public is allowed in that there will be a way to hide the politicians and news posts.

Decent network, but unusable on iPad. It’s hard to use an app that needs a vertical orientation when its window keeps snapping to a tiny horizontal iPhone view. I use iPad’s Stage Manager, and the BlueSky app is fundamentally broken in that environment. Hoping the developers prioritize a fix for this, as several recent comments all say the same thing.

Doesn’t support the iPad in 2024. It’s 2024, this app was released after 2020, it’s written in React Native, and yet it doesn’t support the iPad. (It’s trivial to support the iPad these days.) Also not available: any sort of “trending” support, so instead you get some set of algorithmically determined junk. But that’s fine, they say, you can pick the algorithm determining the junk it dumps on you. Here’s a giant list! Hope you like one of them!

A Social Media Platform No One Can Use. What a great way to launch a new social media platform, by gating off entrance so people sell codes and run scams pretending to sell codes, it’s like Elon Musk is running Bluesky as well. Why can I download something I can’t use? Since when did the App Store start carrying early access? Excited to hand over your email address for a mailing list to be monetized on while people with money get to play in a walled garden? New old CEO same as old new CEO, why does this trash even occupy space on the App Store?

So far so good. The app has simple setting that do exactly what I want it to do. I don’t see posts that I’m not interested in and the community thus far, is far less toxic than other social media. No complaints.

Better than twitter (X). fairly good onces your actually in and far better then twitter although its definitely not just better twitter eather its biggest issue is getting in after that your fairly good however this does make it much less toxic

Okay for a platform in beta. 1. App sometimes slows down on me for no apparent reason, and then it stalls out completely, until I quit and restart it. 2. Why is this just an iPhone app? Why not make it universal so it works better on an iPad? 3. Feeds seem to be useful for finding other people or topics, but they're no substitute for hashtags, which do not appear to be in the pipeline.

Almost there. The app is progressing very well and it’s a good replacement for that other place, I do hope in the near future there is an IPad friendly version, for me that would take it to a 5 star.

Keeps getting better. Whole twitter is burnt to the ground by a man-child; BlueSky team are rolling out updates consistently, responding fast in app and just a pleasure to witness. Patiently waiting for them to go public and sharing codes as I go to get great people in!

It’s ok. I really hope they open the platform soon. I like the idea of a Twitter replacement but they sure do have a long way to go. At least they are trying though. Needs more local news sources.

Notifs stuck. Incredibly grateful to start moving away from xitter but my notifications won’t clear from the home icon or in app notification bar. They just remain highlighted and with the number count not going away. Overall does not matter lol! It’s a little thing

Got my Bluesky invite today. I am a very active Twitter user and surprised to see my blue sky invite. The app looks great so far, the invite only roll out though is skewing these reviews though….

Simultaneously the past and the future. Bluesky is the internet at its very best; both its most unhinged and most optimistic. Bluesky is absolutely electric, and for the moment at least, there is nothing else like it.

Don’t hold your breath. This invite-only platform has been sitting prettily on my iPhone for (literally) months, doing nothing. I’ve seen many celebrities tout what a lovely time they’re having on it and how much better it was than the “birbsite”, and that’s great. But what other social media has is egalitarianism and the potential for the big names to interact with even their smallest fans. Bluesky’s walled garden ensures that’ll never happen. I’m not holding out for the invitation anymore. Deleting.

app is great but... I so far dislike having to use on ipad as one it is way to small or wide to use, also like to have the ability to mute politics if whenever possible

It’s what everyone wants it to be. Except it’s not open yet. This is a better experience than twitter itself has been for 8+ years

Great, even in beta. The invite system that folks hate is pretty useful for ensuring the entire app doesn't break due to heavy load. It's a work in progress and IMO is way better than Threads already.

It’s ok. It’s an okay app but I’m having issues trying to get stuff enabled like NSFW options on mobile, even your site greets me with a blank page when I try to do so. You need to get it sort it out or have an option to enable options on mobile, I always thought it was so unnecessary to enable things on website.

Pretty good😁👍🏻. It’s pretty good, I’ve been using it for about two days and my experience on there is pretty good, The only thing that I have a problem with it is you can’t post videos only pictures, that’s really the only thing that I don’t really like about it but still it’s a pretty good social media👍🏻

Wish Refresh Didn't Auto-Scroll to Top!. Great app, except I like to pick up my timeline of Follows where I left off, and it would be great if the app would load new content, but keep my previous place, so I could scroll up from there to read.

New feature request. Can you make it so we can upload videos to the platform that would be great

Suggestions. It’s not bad for what it is right now, but if this app wants to compete with Twitter/X or or Instagram it’s going to need a few more features such as: - DM’s - hashtags - better support/UI for iPad/tablet users wouldn’t hurt at the moment there’s not much that really separates this app from the others to keep you coming back to it.

Hopeful. I have high hopes that blue sky will be the successor to Twitter so I can finally delete the app. I’ve not got an invite yet, but I’m hopeful that this will be what dethrones Twitter and bring balance back to the world

Notifications badges don’t go away. You have to manually switch back to the home tab to get rid of notifications badges. Otherwise great app and I can’t wait to see all the new features as they’re implemented.

I love Bluesky. I love Bluesky of the twitter close’s I’ve tried I love Bluesky a lot better and I love Bluesky better than twitter and what Elon musk did too it it’s so sad on Bluesky you can have real conversations with people and not get trolled

Okay, fine. I feel like the whole Elon Musk disaster was a bit of a “careful what you wish for” message from Jack Dorsey. I don’t know anybody who particularly liked the old Twitter, but compared to what it is now it looks like a digital Nirvana. So now that this Command+C Command+V of old Twitter exists, I’ll download it without hesitation. You win, Dorsey, you win.

Potential successor to Twitter.. I think all that needs to be added is a dm feature similar to Twitter and it’ll be even more amazing. As for now, BlueSky is actually pretty good.

It’s the people. I haven’t had this much fun on the internet for a really long time. The app has lots of bugs but the community they’ve built is amazing.

Best social app. Best social app available! Combines the fun of Craigslist forums with posting photos from Instagram. Great space for people who are tired of negative people and people who post to cause drama. Fun place to connect with a wide variety of people. Free and in beta!

Terrible for iPad. It’s a fine app on iPhone but useless as an iPad app, they just shrink the mobile screen down and it’s honestly not useable on a iPad in landscape mode at all.

Need a lot of work but has promise. The biggest issue is that you can’t see your liked posts. That’s like one of the most important things a social media site can have. No videos is also a killer, so I hope they add those two things soon. Once they are added this app has a good chance to make it.

Great app for a highly promising platform. Super easy and simple to use and connect with the rapidly growing community. The platform feels like the fun, freewheeling, early days of Twitter and is migrating many of the best people over, without the harassment and drama (so far). Very highly recommend.

Slow Rollout, but excellent experience once set up. Been slowing finding all my twitter friends as they make their way over. Wold be awesome if you guys could not pull an instagram and please develop an iPad app! Using iPhone apps on the iPad isn't a great experience, and people liked to use full-screen twitter on their iPad! Otherwise, great work 👍🏽

Great app! but... I am an artist who tends to do a lot of animation, and as much as I love this as an alternative to the hellscape that is bird app, I cant upload any of my animations which really hurts. Also without a proper tagging system its really hard to find fellow artists I didn't already know beforehand. Hopefully someday these will be added.

A much needed change. No social media app is perfect, but anything is perfect when compared to the dumpster fire that is (was) twitter. I am glad to have no reason to use twitter, and am happy to live in the ad free space that is Bluesky.

nice update. i didn’t realize you were such a small team. nice update. maybe for the future, we can have an option to let AI generate the alt text? and please fix the iphone login bug. i’d love to use this on my iphone. it stopped letting me in on my phone last week.

Actually shows notes. Can tell what was added or changed

Awesome app with great devs. Yes it’s still a work in progress but the devs are hard at work fixing the bugs. Each new release is better and better. By the time the Gen pop get in it’s gonna be worth the wait !

Great, fun, and idealistic social media. Love this app. Yes, it’s kind of buggy and is still building aspects of the infrastructure, but overall bluesky offers the best of twitter with exciting new approaches to custom algorithms and decentralized posting. It’s got a community feel and nicely involved leadership. Come build it from the ground up!
