- Great app! Missing ONE thing 🤞

I LOVE GroupMe. I use it for groups at school, at work, and for one-on-one conversations as well. All around, it’s great. It has a clean user interface, it’s fast, in real time. I love being able to add gifs, polls, videos, pictures, etc to our chats. My only irks as far as videos and pictures go is the quality is LOW. I recommend taking videos or picture outside of the app on your normal camera and uploading, versus using the in app GroupMe camera. I’ve also found that pictures uploaded still lose quality, so if there’s any small text then zooming in on it is just not worth it since it will end up blurry. Outside of that, I have no complaints for the media, etc. The ONLY thing I wish this app would offer is PINNED messages. I run multiple chats for work, and being able to pin/star/etc important messages for everyone to access and refer back to would be AMAZING. I think this would be a great feature to offer to admins of groups. You can search most popular messages, but this is not always useful if the messages that need to be seen by new members, etc, are too far back in the chat to be relevant in the popular messages anymore. If this feature was added, GroupMe would take the cake for, in my opinion, the best group messaging app. Outside of this, the app is great, it does what it’s supposed to, and it’s reliable!

- Great App, but could be even better

This is a great app that I use every single day for a bunch of different group messages, but I feel like there are a few ways it could be improved to make it even more useful/ easier to use: Being able to view a picture from a notification without having to go into the app. It is very annoying to have to pull out my phone and go into the app to see the picture especially when I have an Apple Watch. It would be great to have an Apple Watch app to accommodate the iOS app. Along with being able to view a picture right from the notification this would be extremely useful with the new Apple Watch with cellular connectivity. Imagine if you are out going for a walk or run with just your Apple Watch Series 3 and someone sends you a picture. With the current system you would have to wait until you got home to view the picture. Another nice feature for the Apple Watch app would be the ability to see past messages instead of just the ones from notifications that go away when you tap on them. This would be just like how the messages app works on my Apple Watch.

- Great messaging app!

Use this a LOT and it’s great and surprisingly full featured for as simple to use as it it feels. I have two things I’d wish would be bug-fixed and 2 easy features: 1- a few revs back the blue dot that indicates new messages appears in the top left corner when you’re in one group, even if the new message is only in that same group you’re already inside, even if you’ve read everything new in that group! It used to only show that if there was a new message in another group. Many times a day now I have to click up a level only to find there are not any new messages. Or make that dot go away once I read the mssgs in the grouo I’m in! 2- there’s a crash that has been around for a year! If you click on a notification and go to that group message it almost always will not let you type a response, just hangs... and if you click the + it finally crashes and then launch again and it’s fine. Easy to reproduce! iOS12.x iPhone7 Features: setting for a group to supress the “abcd guy is [not] going to ”. This clogs up the chat for even a medium sized group. Large groups it’s ridiculous. And for covid world can you let people check in to an event so the admin can use to know who was there for some municipality tracing requirements.

- GET THIS APP ASAP Read this if you are interested in getting this app!

I loveeee group me! I love everything about it. The gifs, polls, calendar, GroupMe emojis, the ability to send videos and pictures, but there is one thing that I have been trying to change in settings for a while. Saving images taken on GroupMe. It’s soooo annoying to go back to my camera roll and delete the photos and videos that I don’t want saved on my camera roll, but I want sent to a group or DM in GroupMe. Please change this ASAP. I love practically everything except that one feature I mentioned. Also be aware that you can only DM or have a group chat with people that have GroupMe. That doesn’t seem to bother me much. If you are looking for a good group messaging and DM app, then you HAVE to get this app. I communicate with my family (and created a family chat), my friends, and it’s quick and easy! It’s hard to swoop by this app without getting it. Defiantly recommended!

- Group name in notifications

Could y’all make it so that we can see which group a person belongs to in the notifications area? Specially the lock screen? Currently, if a GroupMe notification alerts your device, you only see the person’s name and not which group the person is from. It would be SOOO helpful, if I was able to see which group a person was chatting from without opening the app. For users involved in several groups with similar people, it’s critical to know which group the notification came from ASAP. iMessage has this feature and it is a lifesaver when you need to respond quickly. It’s like knowing it’s a friend from ‘hot yoga group’ asking about the last minute location change and not someone in your ‘biology study group’ asking were class is. Imagine being in different groups with people who have the same name! It’s so confusing when you read a message from John thinking it’s John your work supervisor when it’s really your best friend John sending you a picture of the roach he found in the bathtub. (Bc you cannot see pictures in the notifications which is another comment altogether). I still love this app! Best group messaging there is!

- It’s not getting any better

Make it more like Discord. And before you tell me to just go use Discord, I already do, but literally no one else in my family or community does, so I’m stuck on GroupMe for all the family and friend stuff like outings and parties and whatnot. Let us edit a message, or even delete a message we sent. What good is it to just hide the message on only my device? Another thing I want is to be able to delete a one-on-one chat with someone. That’s all. I don’t want to “hide” it. I don’t want to “clear” it. I want to straight up delete it. It obviously wouldn’t delete it from their device, just mine. And then what would happen if they messaged me again? Oh it would behave like every other messaging app ever made and just create a new chat with the person on my device. And then when we were done chatting, I could delete it again, just like that. I don’t feel like I’m asking too much, but then again I’m no developer, so maybe I am. Maybe deleting stuff is near impossible. Apple somehow figured it out. I can delete any conversation I want from iMessage. But then they are known for their “it just works” way of doing things. You guys should ask them how they do it. Send them a kind, humble email asking them how in the world they figured out how to delete a one-on-one chat in iMessage. Please, do it for me.

- Why is there so many scams on this app?

I am not sure if someone's account got hijacked or not, but one morning I received a message from GroupMe Support that said "Hello! We sent you a FREE iPhone 11 Pro; Congratulations! Claim now." I've read up online that this is clearly a scam much like the other I received a few months back from a random person. This could be someone impersonating GroupMe's support by going under their name and using their profile picture, but something needs to be done about it. This scam has costed some people their personal and bank information because there is no way of them knowing if this is official or not when a scam disguises itself to make it look more official, but I recommend that you all increase the security and single out any bots or impersonators. I even got a random message from a bot account that wanted to share me "inappropriate photos" on a link, seriously? I am not sure how these people even opening conversations with me as I haven't shared my profile and I don't have them added on my social media profile. It's a bit annoying to know that you don't have actual privacy from these circumstances other than to block the user. I hope the app's security is majorly enforced to prevent scams like this from going around on it.

- Messages Not Showing. Edit. Edit again

I haven’t had a problem with this until today, but today I got message notifications for a group and could see the messages. But after a while, I was getting notifications but not seeing them when I opened the app. The time stamp shows the time of the most recent message (that I can’t see) in the group. Other than this, I have had no problems and enjoy the app. Edit: I deleted then re-logged into the app, and now I cannot see any of the messages in that group. However, I can still click on the group info and see the images, group members, etc. Also, other group messages and individual chats are unaffected by this. I would really appreciate it if this issue could be resolved soon. Thank you! Edit again: after this update, nothing happened. I still cannot see any messages in the one group (still other groups/messages seem to be unaffected). I get notifications for the group and can click on them, but it brings me to the “group chat” where it says no one has sent anything yet, even though I have gotten notifications. There have been some images sent and I can see those if I click on the button that lets you see all the images others have sent. Please fix!!!

- Needs the ability to delete chats and have invites

Overall, this is a decent chatting app with some nice features. But it is highly susceptible to spam. There is the ability to just talk to "nearby" GroupMe users, even those you don't know. So I've received some inappropriate spam messages that way. If there was an invite feature, where instead of seeing their message and profile pic, it just had the message "X would like to chat with you" and you could accept or decline, that would make this app 10 times better. Of course, for those who want the ability to get messages from anyone, they could turn invites off. The other thing the app needs is a way to actually delete chats. Yeah, I see the pros of always having the chats and groups if you need them again, but as I said earlier; there is some spam that I would like to delete, not just hide. Because once its hidden, every time the app updates, all those spam chats come right back to the home screen, and I need to spend time dropping them into hiding again. If these features are added, the current abilites to send messages to people with just text or email make this a fantastic app.

- Great, would love more admin privileges

I work with students, teachers and other types of groups with leaders and so have several groups going. The app has helped with organization, collaboration and of course communication. I get more done because of GroupMe. It is so much more effective than email. My plea/suggestion is this: please allow chat admins to configure a chat so that only they can post messages and the rest of the group can “like” or participate in polls and such. With students, it’s easy to get chatter going that puts the number of messages into the hundreds and thousands and they’re just messing around. Then the substantive messages get lost so that the people who persevere have a terrible time sorting out the fluff from the real stuff while other people understandably set notifications to “do not disturb” or leave the chat altogether. I’d like to be able to set a chat with several dozen people for one-way communication and have another group where everyone can chatter and ask/answer questions. That would help my job a ton!

- Yas Queen🥳👑🔥

Group me is one of the best apps I have been using to contact people. This app lets me contact people, it has its own emojis, and it’s perfect for people who don’t have apple. However, this app deletes messages that you are not really active in. It does help if your inbox is filled but if you want to save something it’s not really good. But on the other hand it makes sure that you are actively talking to people so that’s great! I recommend this app seriously unless you not into that “deleting” thing. I don’t even know if that is true but when I first tried it that is what people told me to be careful about so.... Also, GroupMe lets you see the messages that happened before you got into the chat. That’s great so you can catch up on what’s been going on. It also lets you change what people see your name as so your name can change depending on you not other people unless they are the ones putting you in a chat. But overall, GroupMe is a great app. I totally recommend. Bye! 👑👑👑🥳🥳🥳🔥🔥🔥😏😏😏💋💋💋💋💋

- Connecting

I just wanted to say that I love your app first of all. It’s a great way to communicate with people. I just started using it matter fact it’s the only one that I signed up for I don’t use the computer that much anymore matter fact not at all during thing I use it for is to look up stuff I need for work and I’ve always was against Facebook and all the other stuff I thought it was too much but now I have your app and I use it to be connected with families for church and it lets me communicate with those people when I’m not at church and I love it for that. awesome company give up the good work I know people complain about certain apps they have where it they fail they are down they don’t work right well since I’ve been using this app never had a problem with anything nothing but five stars for me and two thumbs up...

- Bugs

I’ve always used group me and am happy with it, however, I have had a lot of trouble adding people to the groups. In big group chats that have been around a long time, people do not want to leave the group me or create a new one usually because there are good memories in the group. On multiple occasions I have been unable to add someone back to a group, either because they have left in the past or because they were removed. I have experienced this issue as an admin and a normal user in a group, and if it happens to one person, nobody in the group has the ability to add that person back. If that person is a vital member of the group, the entire group chat gallery and messages are lost because we have to create a new one. This has happened enough times for me to write a review about it. I am unhappy that our previous groups’ memories have been lost and become inactive and wish I was able to start the old chats again by adding the previous members back.

- Solid App

I wish there were some additional features to make this more customizable. For instance a “like” option or “thumbs up” option for different comments that people leave or a way to customize the background or appearance of the message board itself. Otherwise this is a great way to communicate with a group of people. I use this for my baseball team and it’s a great way to know who is commenting on what without having to put all their information into my phone and everyone else’s phone. It clearly shows who is commenting or asking questions. It even allows me to send a direct message to one or two of the people inside the entire group without having to say certain things to everyone on the group chat. I also use this separately for my coaches so we can discuss things we need to work on in practice or cover before games. Overall I like the app and recommend it to other people.

- Navigating Help is Terrible

I received an email that my account was changed over to another email, which was not done by me. I clicked on the link provided to indicate that this is an issue, and their “help page” does not have any link specific to the issue. Still trying to solve the problem, I emailed their support email with a quick little blurb about what’s going on and a screenshot of the email I received from them. My email got sent back for being too large, although it had less than a paragraph and one normal sized screenshot image. This experience has been excessively complicated and my problem is not resolved. I am now sitting with concern about having some random person accessing my account. Upon redownloading the app, it is only allowing me to create a new account rather than having any option to log in with a previously made account. I’ve had to spend way more time and energy than is necessary, and still have not been able to get through the process. I’m a 22 year old college student, so I’m fairly competent with technology, but this is ridiculous.

- Setting group photos & cloning a group

I’ve enjoyed most of the new features that have been recently rolled out with a few exceptions... Setting group photos, please revert the change - I recently noticed that you cannot do a search to set the group photo anymore which is very annoying and now I have several groups without photos because it is more difficult to set the photo now. Please revert this setting back so that you can search for a photo Cloning, restrict to admin and group owners - cloning is a great idea so that creating new similar groups is much easier, BUT I would recommend restricting this privilege to group owners and admins. I have been in several groups where a group member thinks it would be funny to create a duplicate group and causes more problems than they need to. If this privilege was restricted to admin and group owners, the useful tool would be used by the correct people.

- Great, but one suggestion!

This app is by far the best when it comes to large group communication. Not overbearing with excessive notifications due to the mute options but still fun enough to form a sense of unity within the group. However, as somebody who primarily uses this app for a mixture of business and fun, important messages can easily get lost in the daily jokes and conversation. I wish there was a way to have an announcements board where only admins or group leaders can post. Everyone, even those who have the group muted, will be notified immediately (or have this as a separate option “mute all except announcements”). Or a way to pin the announcement at the top of everyone’s messages until the leader/admin sees it fit to remove. This would greatly enhance my group’s communication without having to resort to numerous emails or a separate app.

- Launching via lock screen

When I receive a message and tap on it to pull up the app, it needs to switch to the chat feed to which the message I’m replying to belongs. It does no good to be able to switch to the app by tapping on a message I get from a person/group if the active thread is going to remain on whichever person/group I was using last. Very frustrating to have to remember to double check which thread I’m in when I just tapped on a message from a particular person/group. It would stand to reason that if I tap on a lock screen message from, say, my wife, that it would switch to my chat feed with her when the app comes up and not remain in, say, the group chat feed I have with colleagues if that’s the group to which I last sent a message. Please fix this

- This app is full of crap.

Okay. I use groupme for one reason: it doesn’t require every member in a group chat to have group chat abilities on their device. That being said, it’s a load of crap. I hate it. If someone hasn’t responded, for one, they may not be getting the messages. Second, if *I* set up this group chat, and put these people on it, that means I have their contact information, so if they don’t want to be on it anymore, LET US TAKE CARE OF IT. IT IS NOT FOR THE APP TO DECIDE WHETHER THESE PEOPLE ACTUALLY WANT TO BE A PART OF THE GROUP. Some people are also content to receive the messages and not reply. It’s a thing, believe it or not. Let the members of the group chat deal in their own affairs, and stop making assumptions, especially TWO SECONDS after I just deleted someone and put them back on FOR THE SOLE PURPOSE OF ALLOWING THEM TO SEE THE NOTIFICATIONS AGAIN!!! Honestly! Either cut that out or at least make it easier for someone to discontinue the discontinuation of notifications. This is an awful app and y’all whoever designed this piece of crap needs to get it fixed.

- An “All” feature

I love using this app to stay in contact with multiple groups that I take part in. The only feature that I think would make this app perfect and want to inquire about is an “all” button or feature. When I have to get an urgent message out to certains groups of people I find it incredibly time consuming to tag everyone in the message and sometimes certain individuals get left out, therefore they do not see the message. Is there any possible way you guys would be able to include this feature or is already coming in the future in an update? I really appreciate you guys taking this into consideration and I along with many colleagues agree that this would really improve our experience with this app and make it perfect.

- Love the app, but would love more grouping options

I use this app daily for work.. it is a great tool to keep connected and not loose touch. I like that it doesn’t consume a great deal of my storage on my phone. It is also nice to have a long running record of the conversations that have been had. It allows for me to add and remove people as needed and not miss a beat in the conversation. The only thing I would LOVE to see is to be able to make master groups. I have over 30 chats going, and that is just for work... It would be great to make a group and then have subgroups. I have groups with each manager that I work with and then they also have groups with the shops that they work with (team chat groups) I always have to be very cautious to not send the message to the manager in the group for the team. It would just organize things every better.

- App quality

Had the app freeze on me a number of times but last week it was stuck on the loading screen and I couldn’t used my phone for hours. I couldn’t even hard reset my iPhone. I was trying everything and accidentally hit my lock button 5 times, which calls the police. The call went thru but since I could not leave the loading screen and use my phone I couldn’t hang up and had to explain to them what happened. They sent people over to my house at midnight to check on us and my parents had no idea what was going on and I had to calm them down and get us back to sleep before we woke up at 4am the next day to catch a flight for vacation. Didn’t have a phone for some of the vacation until I was finally able to hard reset. I love talking to my friends on this application but I have had multiple problems with the quality. This past time was the worst it’s ever gotten and I just got a brand new phone so it can’t be that.

- Glitch with Notifications :\

Personally, I think this app is pretty good. However, the thing that has been driving me absolutely NUTS is that when I open the app to read the newest messages, it doesn’t update afterwards that I read them, so when I exit the app it still shows that I have those same number of unread messages. I’ve tried clicking on each message on the thread and scrolling all the way up through every message to see if either of those things would fix it, but unfortunately it hasn’t done a thing to fix it. Been SO tempted to just delete the app to get rid of the notifications showing up as unread after I have for sure read them. Please find a way to fix this glitch soon! It is driving me absolutely INSANE!! I really want to enjoy this app, but it’s been so hard to with that glaring glitch constantly showing up. 😞 Please fix this!

- Use a different group app

This app is buggy and most importantly completely void of any security. You can’t delete chats or block people who you don’t know the phone number to like stalkers, creepy strangers, and mostly scam bots. People who aren’t in you contacts or groups can still direct message you with no way to block, only can ‘hide’ messages. Fat lot of good that does. Bots will contact you for sure, advertising porn and free iphones but GroupMe lets them do it because they don’t care about user security. You will get spammed. Even in normal use it’s a bad app when compared even to email. You can’t send audio, high quality images, video over 30 seconds. You can’t delete posts or search through a group chat. Sometimes you won’t get notifications for no reason. The app loads for a million years. You’ll even get issues logging in and creating an account ‘unknown error’. It’s just a bad app and completely ridiculous they have 4.7 stars. They must be buying reviews is all I can think of

- Great, but still room for immediate improvement

Love the apps ability to more efficiently control group communication and perform such from my computer while sending over SMS (not just the messaging platform). That said, there is an obvious improvement that they intentionally leave out. If people I think he group don’t’ accept the invitation to stay a part of the group, they are automatically removed from SMS (text) messages from the group. In short, they use an Opt In platform rather than Opt Out, which would be so much better! I use this for large group messages with parents who aren’t always super savvy or aware of the “Opt In” procedure, so I keep ending up with parents not receiving messages, leaving having to go back to text messages to make up for it. Annoying! Make it an Opt-Out structure and this is a clear 5 Stars!

- Group. Me is awesome

I absolutely love using Group Me as my messaging app, to connect my group of friends. You can add as many people to the group chat , you can use cool blue emojis, you can change your user as many times as you want, you can name the group and if you have a phone number or not you can still use this app. Now you do have to use a phone number as a verification, then it sticks with your account. Now don’t use the same number that you already used or it’s going to link the accounts together. Even kids can use it! My 12 year old sister doesn’t have a phone, but she has an iPod. All her friends that she played volleyball with has only an iPod as well. So they decided to have a group on Group Me which they love. Over all I love this is app!

- Pretty decent app; has some challenges

It's great to share experiences, pics, and vids with my family and friends x-platform, x-carrier, and around the world. Flexible app with reasonable functionality. Significant challenges include 1) can't delete or edit comments - just hide them, which only hides it on the individual side; 2) it would be very nice if tech support at least acknowledged that we send them emails, and responded within six months; 3) at times it's difficult to invite new GroupMe users to a direct message - can only add them to a group message; 4) impossible to search within a discussion/conversation without painfully scrolling back through the chat to find the reference you are looking for; 5) no exporting/printing capability which would be especially good from a family history or team dynamics perspective.

- Awful performance issues

I am always disappointed when I am forced to re-download GroupMe for other people. It’s performance while not on WiFi is absolutely abysmal. I often receive messages in my notifications bar from other group members. Then when I navigate to the group chat the messages, they are not there. I try to memorize the message in the notification bar if it is short enough to understand how to reply. Sometimes it takes up a few minutes for them to display In the chat. I can sometimes get it to show faster if I try to force a refresh. This lag has resulted in me not only missing messages but also leaving people behind on trips. I use telegram, signal, iMessage, discord, WhatsApp, and messenger. None of them have the performance issues that GroupMe does while on cell service. I don’t understand why this app is so highly rated when it has such critical issues on a modern iPhone. If GroupMe’s user base wasn’t so large I wouldn’t have to keep downloading it.

- Few bugs, but all in all a good app

This app is great for helping to facilitate more reliable group communications among people who have different OS platforms on their smartphones. But I do have a couple of suggestions for improvement: 1. The app ALWAYS opens in portrait orientation, even if the iPhone / iPad is on it’s side. In order to rotate it to landscape, I have to rotate my device to portrait and back to landscape in order for the app to register the orientation change. I’d like to see a fix implemented that detected the device orientation on launch and automatically adjusts, without the need to manually “kick” it to the right layout. 2. I’m not sure if this fix is possible, but I’d love that if I read a message on one device or the desktop app, the other instances of the GroupMe app on my other devices registered those message(s) as read, and removed the notification. Currently, I have to open the app on each device in order for messages to be marked as read on that device. 3. I do wish the character limit on messages could be extended. Currently, longer text posts have to be broken up into multiple pieces to post them in a group. It would be great if this limit could be extended.

- Makes Life Easier

I'm a freshmen in high school and am an active member of student council...but I don't have an IPhone, just an IPod. Because of this, it is difficult for me to keep in contact with my group members. GroupMe helped a lot because it allowed us all to communicate with each other easily so no one falls behind. You can attach different events to the calendar so everyone in your chat knows and can send pictures with each other. One thing that I've noticed is trouble in inviting certain people, meaning it says you've "invited them" but they can't get in. If you have this problem, I recommend different people try to add you, not just one person over and over again. It's very simple and great for school activities like this.

- App logs me out, should be able to send longer high quality videos

The app randomly logs me out every few months and when I log back in I can’t see any of my previous chats or contacts. I have some peoples’ contacts through this app alone, so it’s really annoying when that happens. However, if I delete the app and redownload it, usually everything comes back. Not all the time though, and the process is very tedious so I wish this wouldn’t happen. The last time I was logged out it was across all of my devices and it wouldn’t let me log back in for several weeks even though I entered the correct password (it seemed like it was glitching out). If getting logged out is still a necessary procedure I wish there was at least some warning beforehand. Also wish we could send longer videos through the app while maintaining image quality. Other than that it’s pretty good, sorry for the low rating.

- New update created new frustrations

While for the most part the app works good, the new update has become somewhat annoying. Overall the appearance is clean and runs smooth but I have 2 gripes. 1. Why do timestamps happen so frequently now (or at all honestly) between comments. I’ve seen a string of 3 comments in a group all get time stamped yet were posted within 5 minutes of each other. I don’t care that much about when someone posted a comment especially when I can click on it and get the exact time it was posted. 2. When posting links (especially Instagram) why is the spacing so messed up, the name and avatar hover over the top of the link posted. It was perfect before but now there’s an annoying overlay. 3. Why must I put my first and last name into the profile in setting? Especially since I can just change my name in any group anyways. 4. At times since the update there will be a weird spacing issue from a new comment on the bottom and between the box to type. Not always but still very annoying when it does happen. Willing to change star rating if things are explained or corrected.

- Muting a chat needs to show ZERO notifications.

I have several active chats in this app and I’ve used it exclusively as my group chat app for maybe a decade now. It is wonderful for the most part. My BIGGEST complaint though is if you mute a chat, you still get the red badge on the app icon and the app will say you have X unread messages. It won’r pop up on your lock screen though. I wish that mute was a FULL silence on the chat. It’s COVID era and my beer league hockey team chat has been going off all lock down when i haven't played for 6 months. I don’t really care about the NHL playoffs too much but they do. So i have to open the app to get rid of the badge icon. I use the app for other chats still and want to see those messages but the ones that I can wait on and silence until I’m ready to participate.. I cant.

- Where is the edit mode?

GroupMe is a very powerful tool in the social media world, but the one thing everyone else has and you don’t is edit mode. You can not edit or delete a message from anything or anyone but from yourself (and you can’t delete that either). I want to edit a message you can’t, but you can hide it, from who? Myself? They can still see the freaking message, but I can’t now. It’s like playing hind and seek in a very, very lit room with a billion people still watching you try to hide in a football stadium. I want to remove a person from my contacts list, you can’t do it. The basic functions of GroupMe of chat is there, but one super key factor is not present in this day and time. Why the heck not! GroupMe would be a 5 star on my list, but until this major flaw is not corrected, it will remain at 3 stars from me.

- Baffled

I am actually baffled by how awful this app is. It simply does not work when a chat is active. It fails to fill its most basic purpose. A user of a messaging app should be able to read messages as they are coming in, ESPECIALLY an app whose primary purpose is group chats. The app spazzes or jumps to random places in the chat or freezes altogether when other people are sending messages in the chat. When I try to type a message, my entire phone freezes and I can’t even see the message as I type it. I have to wait fifteen seconds to see it on my screen. This is definitely not a hardware problem as I have no issues like this using whatsapp or telegram. I really hope this review is seen and taken seriously because this app has some extreme problems with its most basic functionality; it’s essentially unusable way too often. Are you not using views to optimize performance and resource use??? I just don’t understand. Sooo frustrating please do something!!

- Specific Date Feature

The app is really convenient and I use it everyday! Especially for chatting with my friends who live in different parts of the world. It would be really nice to have an option where you could look up a certain date in the chat. Meaning that if you want to look at a specific photo taken or just recall a great moment in the chat, it would make it easier to have an option that lets you search by month, day, year, or if you know the exact date you can just type it in. This would be much simpler than scrolling up or even searching through the gallery looking for that one photo. Especially if you have a chat that’s active almost 24/7. I’d really love to see this feature implemented in the app in the near future.

- Love the app accept you can’t delete messages

I love GroupMe and I use it for several groups that I am apart of. Great way to communicate and keep on touch in a timely manner. Only thing I wish they had was a way to delete or cancel messages. I’ve mad a mistake and posted a photo in the incorrect group and it couldn’t be erased and it stays in the gallery. It was anything explicit but it just wasn’t meant for the intended group. While I know I have to be more aware of where I’m posting, it can be an honest mistake and you won’t be able to save yourself of an embarrassing photo meant for your friend group that goes into your family or church group that you may also use the app for. I hope that this functionality comes along and I would definitely give 5 stars!

- Business growth!!

Hello all, I know you have your hands full already and am super grateful for your hard work! You have developed an amazing app that helped me and hundreds of other business owners grow their business. I won’t bore you with details but just wanted to make a recommendation as to some features that might be worth looking into. There is currently no way to delete a message within a conversation other than to hide it in my device. Also, there is a cap to how many people can be in a group. Myself and many of my business partners and other people in my industry have decided to migrate to telegram due to these features stated above. That’s nearly 50,000 new users on telegram and counting that have migrated from Group Me. I hope this helps, God bless you all!!

- Love the app, how do you make small suggestions that would make a huge improvement

I love this App and it allows me to communicate with the parents of all the teams easily and quickly. As a parent when we’ve used it, the one thing I find difficult is once a coach sends out a message, every parent responds, sometimes leading to multiple conversations and sometimes making it difficult to scroll back and determine the actual message the coach was trying to get across. There should be an option to have only coach be able to communicate on that thread, and responses be seen only by the coach or just where the communication happens in direct messaging or the responses bullet point off where the original message is clear and easy to follow! Otherwise great app!

- Good app, spam accounts

I’ve used GM throughout my highschool years and so far my freshman and sophomore year of college but starting last fall around December in all of my chats even private ones, spam accounts would manage to slither in and blow up the chats with fake essay writing services. Like I’m talking if you leave the chat alone for 15 minutes all of a sudden 8 spam accounts will have joined and posted the same exact post/link. I can get rid of them as an admin but they keep joining back. I’ve doubled down on privacy and who I accept but somehow people manage to get into a chat that I never accepted. Most recently it will say a bunch of people joined a chat, but they don’t show up in the members so I can’t remove them now. They’re just there, waiting until 2 more weeks when they’re gonna explode every single chat. Help please

- I was removed

OK so… I got removed from the group chat that I was in because my coach had to change my name to make it right and she re-added me but now my group won’t show up on the group me app so I can’t get back into it and we can’t figure out how I can get back into it without her we adding me thousand times because she’s already added me twice over and over and the Groupon show up so I can’t get into it and we can’t figure out what to do about it so if you could just tell me what I could do to get back into the group that I was removed from it would be great thank you this app is amazing I love it it’s good for groups it’s good for direct message it’s good for everything really thank you for making it

- Cool App, One Annoyance (Fix please?)

Overall this app works great! It is extremely convenient for organizing large groups of people. However there is one thing that drives me crazy. It takes forever for the little red notification number to disappear on the app icon. Even if you have read all the messages and there are no new ones the red number for how many messages were previously unread will last until it is replaced by more incoming messages. Sometimes the number goes away and sometimes it does not. This is can be very frustrating especially when I am trying to tie up loose ends and make sure I have attended to everything. If there is a chance that this small bug could be fixed in a future update that would be pretty cool.

- Nobody likes group messages....except on “GroupMe”

I would try to send group messages to friends and family and there would usually by someone in the group that would complain and ask to be taken out of the group, but I have a busy life and I don’t have time to message everyone individually!!! Now we have “GroupMe”, they are not getting the constant dings and notification every time someone replies, they can read all of the responses collectively at one time, and reply or not reply, it is their choice and at their leisure!! GroupMe makes responding to mine and my kid’s teammates, classmates, co-workers, family members, social groups, event managers, etc. so hassle free and consolidates my life and keeping everything organized!

- Great way to stay informed

Lately, a close relative was in the hospital with some fairly bad problems. The family includes a family out of state, several families very close—too many to visit, but all interested and worried. A tech-savvy family member set up a GroupMe thread including all family, far and near. It was amazing—info was given out, questions were asked and answered, pictures posted of our sick one, progressively showing improvement. As far as I know, it (the group connection) is still active, a couple of items have been posted, travel, kids, etc. I realize most use is social and lighthearted—that’s fine. But in a medical crisis, it served us all very well and I’d recommend it for that.

- I ♥️ GroupMe

GroupMe is the no-drama alternative to advertisement & propaganda fueled socializing platforms. A friend recommended I use GroupMe to keep a large circle of family & friends in the loop leading up to, during and after my daughter’s surgery. I liked how easy it was to set up, post updates, get feedback and share photos. For this use, I originally gave the group a “pre-surgery” title. Once surgery was over it was easy to rename the group a “recovery” title and none of the previous posts were lost. Next time around, I was the one recommending GroupMe to my daughter’s support group. The leaders took my advice and we’ve found it to be the perfect way to share progress, ask questions and set meeting dates.

- Unable to use any longer

1) Whatever updates have transpired I am no longer able to add users to groups. They just don’t show up for me to add like they used to. Did a synch on contacts with groupme seems like it made it worse. I have to ask others members to add them now. Frustrating. Kinda giving up. 2) Also frustrating groupme randomly pops up all single person groups making a big mess with multiple singles groupmes that I don’t want displayed. So I then have to go individually HIDE CHAT. 3) But then that option HIDE CHAT is not available for every groupme so then. I’m stuck with all of these groupmes displayed on phone. Cludgy.. 3) would be nice for individual person groupmes to not just randomly pop up (all of them) I know this is a free app and it is nice but just wanted to input what’s making it unusable now.

- Best option available, but could use a few improvements.

I’ve been using GroupMe for a couple years now and it’s fantastic, probably the best group communication app on the market currently (second to Discord, but you’ll not be using that with most groups since it’s targeted for gamers). I think the only things missing that I think is somewhat odd to not have is a group ping and pinned messages. It’s irritating to have to select and type out every single name of every person you want to announce to, especially on more frivolous chats that people keep muted. Pins also is a need, as important messages are soon lost in the miasma of other discussion. If GroupMe adds these, they’ll get five starts, but until then it’s a 4 star app in my book.

- YES, YES!

I’ve been an active GroupMe user for several years and it has never failed! Extremely reliable, it now provides day and night mode, and puts me in contact with everyone, even without their phone number! My only complaint would be that people I have been in one chat with do not show when I want to add them to an exclusive chat. I believe that’s part to do with the coding of the software, as this particular thing works if I’ve been in two chats or more with a person. Other than that, it is an amazing tool and I recommend it whenever I’m working with someone on a university project. 100% recommend for everyone to have installed on their phone!

- Overall good, but a few consistent issues

Reviewing as a longer term user - I have used the app for several years now. Biggest frustration: anytime there’s an update to the app, ALL of my archived groups/messages reappear and I have to archive them all over again. SUPER ANNOYING. Also, sometimes the new message notification doesn’t go away for awhile even after checking all messages, and recently the new message dot appears even when the new message is in the group you’re currently in and reading and won’t go away till you get out of that screen and come back into it. I can see it’s helpfulness to make sure you know a new message came through but usually it just gets stuck and you have to wait for it to clear or you have to exit that group to clear it.

- Solid app but needs updates

Let me start by saying the app is great but definitely has limitation. Messaging sometimes freezes up causing delays. Or it will skip trying to send a message altogether. Also I’ve noticed when trying to share a link from another source it doesn’t always send. Also the fact you can’t delete anything is obnoxious. Old groups / DMs and photos just makes the app annoying. I have to hide a conversation if it’s no longer valid but I can’t just delete like I can in WhatsApp, Text or literally any other application. We use this app for our church group and sometime you get a separate message that’s not important. It would be nice to be able to clear up space and simply be able to delete. Other than that the app works well and is functional.

- Excellent app, excellent support!!

We have been using the app for quite some time now and it works perfectly! had a problem once and received full support immediately! happy customer here

- Group chat ✅

Good way to communicate with a group of people or just one. Although it has trouble keeping up on busy days, freezes while others are typing.

- Needs end to end encrypted

Love the app, it’s so simple and easily to use. Only thing is the video in gallery get stuck we you want to watch. Wish you have video calls on the app.

- Multiple media uploads in one go

Why is that I cannot upload multiple pictures or any other media files at once? This is such a small upgrade.

- Unable to use.

I am completely unable to log in to my account, I know the password and I’m able to logon on quite literally any other platform. Disappointment of an app

- I can’t add people

I can’t add people I have sent invites but none of my friends and family have seen them come through please help me!!

- Dumb app

Keeps telling me my login details are in use or incorrect - which means I can’t use the app.

- When trying to add someone

Hi I'm a fan of your app however when I try to add someone with an email address that has numbers in it, it reverts immediately to a phone number and won't allow me to put the email address in. Some people don't like giving out phone numbers so there is no way to add them. Can you maybe put both options in so this doesn't happen. It's really quite annoying. Thanks

- Great little app!

I work in a creative collective and GroupMe is great for staying in touch with my colleagues. Every little idea can be discussed and elaborated in private before we meet up and flesh the ideas out properly. Highly recommended app! I'm just hoping they'll make a "search chat"- function to find old topics discussed. That's what'll take it to five stars for me.

- Use it everyday

App works perfectly, me and my mates use it every day, it's the easiest way to stay in contact with each other, couldn't go back to old methods after using this app.

- A good platform

A good app. Had a few issues with friends adding me to the group. The notification feature seems unpredictable if using the app across iOS devices. Also, it's too easy for anyone in the group to mute all phone alerts. If this issues are fixed then it gets a higher rating!

- GroupMe

The program is great for the majority of the time. Just recently there was a problem in that it completely removed all rooms from the screen on a couple of occasions.

- Can we have the 'typing' icon back?

Love the new design. So slick and smooth. Although I do miss in the chat being able to know when the other person is typing or not. It just kind of confuses the people on both ends. But loving the new design! :)

- Average messaging platform

Lots of personal info required to sign up. Interface is a little cluttered. Multi platform is good There are better messaging systems, but it's better than some

- Great app. Relationship builder. One suggestion though.

I really appreciate this apps features. If you could delete your comments once posted, it would be even better, but right now - it's very effective as a group exchange medium.

- Really useful

Whether it is for on-line gaming, or new ways to make connections with people from work to share ideas, this app is really great. Haven't used the SMS features, but the group environments and the running feed are good features.

- Effective tool for group communication

Clear & easy way to communicate with family & friends with varying levels of social media experience.

- Simple and versatile

Great for small groups to keep it altogether. Can direct message members. Can post dated events. Able to post images. Suitable to post location with map.

- App needs to sync better across multiple devices

I don't want to read messages once I've seen them on one device. Also if I mute on one device, I don't necessarily want to mute on all. Other than that, great app

- Messages

App is great except for when you get messages that don't always notify you until you click on it but the lag is probably the worse..

- Great app!!

Overall great app, extremely easy to use. Is it possible to get read receipts into group conversations? Other than that, I can't fault it.

- Quality

Great for group chats. Use it with multiple games to chat and share pictures.

- Works well, but...

...that Add Location bar is taking up way too much valuable real estate on the screen. Is there really no way to remove it or even just hide it? 3 stars now, but give me back some of my screen and we're in serious business!

- Changes needed

It would be appreciated if when an iPad is turned around the screen did also. Ability to download longer video clips would be good. Also need to be able to add comments to a thread.

- Answer the basic need and can improve the experience with 'add location' bar reduced

Great group collaboration app. Love to have more screen space for conversation, not barred by add location bar.

- Efficiency ap for all

A great ap that makes real time communication between groups of ppl from anywhere practical, easy & fun

- Way more reliable than telegram

Easy to use, works as expected

- A delight to use...

An uncomplicated messaging system that allows u to connect to various groups and individuals of your choosing....wonderful ...

- GroupMe

The quality is as good as Skype. An excellent means for communicating from mobile to mobile.

- Image quality

Great app all round except image quality which is absolutely horrendous... I'm continually asked to provide feed back of which is ignored. I can't see why the people at groupme are dragging their feet on this...

- Perfect

This messaging app is all I need to stay in touch with single or groups of people. A+++

- Can't message anyone.

Only one person appears in the list. Everyone has to have this app to message them so it's useless. I just want to replace the message app with a better app that I can send text via sms or internet. If I want to message people and have chats I'll use Facebook messenger

- Good but room for improvement

Great but sometimes slow to receive messages.

- Love it

Its simple, its easy to use, its got just enough features and it works. That's all I need!

- Great

Easy to use and a good way to keep in contact with my game friends

- Update makes app unstable

Ever since the most recent update, the app crashes and gets very slow. It used to be much better.

- Great product

Brilliant functionality. Beautiful layout. A really good platform for free messaging. Very reliable.

- Great, simple , communication

Excellent for high speed chat when it matters, particularly with gaming on the side ;)

- Still terrible

Ok so now I can ad captions to images again. Thank you. It is extremely clunky to do so, it seems I have to use the meme button to get back from making a caption. Please re-release version 4. I will pay money for it.

- Crashing

Keeps crashing on me the first 2-3 attempts takes me 4-5 turnes to finally get on. Great app overall just c if u can fix this issue thanks :)

- Get rid of phone verification

I got this app because a bunch of my friends started a group with it I go to make an account and realise I need a phone number Easy right? Well except I don't have a phone with SMS! There is no option to get the pin via email so I have since deleted the app Add an email verification. You are costing yourselves users. I sincerely hope you read this and take it into consideration

- Good App

Good app. Works well for sending messages between friends worldwide.

- Perfect

Great app for group chats, would be good if it had more media support.

- Awsome

Good way to catchup with friends and family

- Update still buggy

Stops writing if you delete, use caps lock or auto fill a full stop. Needed more testing before release!

- Excellent app

Does everything it says and more. Highly recommend.

- Group me

I luv it helps heaps in the modern war game with my faction I play in

- Great!

Good for communicating! Like the snooze feature. Keep up the good work!

- Very good

Very fast and responsive, perfect for group chats.

- Awesome Ap

- Great app!

Large groups are able to communicate quickly and easily. Simple and effective.

- Good app we use it all the time

It’s good app. We use it all the time

- Updates

Doesn’t look like they read these reviews so not sure this will ever be rectified... the app is great and easy to use BUT there NEEDS to be an option to delete messages. Especially for business purposes. Groupme! Listen to your reviews.

- Keeps crashing.

Please fix this issue/bug. Every time it opens it will close again. Thanks!

- Crashing????

Why can I not check my messages??? App keeps crashing

- Terrible

This app keeps kicking me out and the connection was terrible. Made me so angry and I will try something else, hopefully it will be more reliable than this. Would not recommend.

- It’s good

The only issue I have this app is that for some reason I’m unable to send pictures. I’ve tried everything to fix it: updating the app, removing the app from my phone and downloading it again, signing out and signing in again, turning off access to photos and turning it on again, and none of it worked. When I try to send it, it immediately appears with a symbol and a notification indicating that it failed to send, and when I try to send it again, it does the exact same thing. Could you fix this issue please?

- Hi group me I want to join the group I don’t know how to join

Help

- Annoying

Apps pretty good except that when it asked me for my phone number I didn’t know I would start getting text messages from the gc and even after I deleted my account I still get gc messages

- Scam messages

Great app but receiving scam messages. Please fix!

- Bits and inappropriate messages

Since joining and starting g a private group we have received inappropriate messages and also a bit joined our group. We can’t figure out how to remove them. You can’t delete and why does that happen anyway!!

- JSFLASH

This app is awesome!!!😎😆

- Great! But...

Add a voice chat!

- Add access to Ringtones & Text Tones please!

This app is pretty nice, though I would really like to use some of my custom ringtones / text tones with it! Please add the ability to utilize ringtones and text tones in addition to the phone’s factory alert tones.

- App review

Great app, love how it can be used on desktop and also on mobile. Would love to see if there is a possible chat head that can be used while another app is currently on screen for multiple use.

- Notifications

Gotta work on notifications, they don’t work sometimes.

- The app

A great app overall

- Love it

Great way to keep in touch with our kids. ❤️

- Disappointed

Groups keep disappearing. Very frustrating Can’t seem to get ahold of support. Groups text and images should be editable or delete-able.

- Great for restaurant staff

Great app for talking to your co-workers

- Update request

Great Group app! I love it and use it for all my group work. Highly recommend. There should be a way to send multiple pictures to the group, rather than having to send one picture at a time, and if there is a way it should be obvious. This would make it easier to send pictures in a GroupMe chat rather than creating a new group in a different messaging app and send the pics that way. As well we should be able to delete messages/edit them once sent. So many times the wrong file or text is sent in the wrong group, but there’s no way to delete them. Or if I make a spelling mistake, I should be able to edit the message. Thanks

- Pratique

Très facile à utiliser et conviviale.

- Why a Phone Number?

No reason an app needs your phone number. Are they seeking it to 3rd parties or telemarketers? Email should be enough. No thank you.

- Great App

It's a great app overall, but the inability to delete a message, recall a perticular message in both direct and group chat is very frustrating. Please think about adding this feature, since its already available in WhatsApp.

- Idrk

I just wish we didn’t need a phone number to create an account

- Great For Networking

Groupme brought together 82 complete strangers and instantly helped grow our network with discussions such as: “why am I getting this?” “Who are all these people?” “Please stop replying” “EVERYONE STOP REPLYING” “THIS IS MY NIGHTMARE” “I’m roaming FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!” Only 4 stars only as emoji’s were sometimes unreadable and my phone battery died.

- Great app

Great app to communicate for the group I need it for. Love the calendar! Would love to see a Bulletin Board or something similar to post a note that people can easily refer back to - for e.g. an itinerary for a particular event that people don't want to scroll through the feed to find it. Then the author can delete the note once it is not needed anymore. Would also be nice to send longer videos.

- Contacts are gone

Since the most recent update when I try to add someone to a group that I share other group with nothing comes up for names. None of my existing contacts appear.

- Very slow and crash everytime

It’s been very slow and crash often in my Iphone x.

- Suggestion

A message search function in a chats.

- Group me

Hi Ron and Carol did you receive ‘this message?

- Awesome

It’s an awesome app!

- Works as advertised

It’s great to keep iPhone and non-iPhone folks on the same page!!

- Taking photos in the app

When you try to take a picture in the app, it doesnt allow you to send it. And when you upload a photo, when you try to type in the description it doeant show what you’re typing...

- Great!

Works great!

- Great app

Love this app. Only thing I would like to see changed is no restrictions on the length of videos you can send. C

- Deleting pics

Great app but missing the option for admin / owner to delete comments or pictures.

- Requirement for phone number a deal breaker

I wanted to use this to connect my family, not all of whom have phones yet. You can’t create an account without a phone number. *deletes app and closes account*

- Geofencing

Please add geofencing or add an option with IFTTT. Please support Iphone X!

- Group me

Great app 👍👍

- Works great!

I like it :)

- P O S

Worst chat app ever created. Makes you wish Bindle was still around. How people can use this laggy piece of crap is beyond me.

- Great app

This is an awesome way to stay connected with our family on the cellular network. It uses the cell network so those in our family that don't have data can also stay connected.

- Still some issues

GroupMe is good software but after long time it still has issues like you can't add friend from one group into group without email on iPhone. Very limited video sharing and notification are. It on time

- Awesome App

Great app. They update it regularly and always add in a bunch of cool features

- group me

great app bit the picture quality needs more work

- Groupme

A great way to keep a group and additional groups connected. I use it many times throughout the day. A great communicator.

- ...

Missing something

- Love it!

Allows me to text with my US based but data-less family! Thanks!

- Mediocre at best

Not the greatest messaging app. I've experienced lots of glitches over the time I've used it.

- Great App! But cannot delete messages

My church has been using this app to communicate within small groups and volunteer teams. It’s easy to use, very functional for group chats. I recommend this to anyone looking for a simple and effective group chat tool. I have many old chats which I don’t use anymore or only used once for a direct message to an individual here and there. These messages clutter the chat list since I don’t use them anymore and can’t delete them. You can hide any chat, but knowing those old chats are just sitting there feels like sweeping them under the rug! This isn’t make it or break it but it bothers me just a bit that messages can’t be deleted.

- I love GroupMe! One suggestion.

I love GroupMe! I use it for every collaboration project at school and work because of the convenience that it adds. The most convenient tool is that I can create a group with a specific name so I know exactly who I'm talking to and for what project. This eliminates searching through my everyday messaging app for the names of members of my group. One addition that I think would expand the app is a feature that allows group leaders to show members how to join. For example, text "custom message" to "#####." I know this would make it convenient for people to join groups I create that are for the purpose of sending reminders about events, assignments, or projects.

- Muting without going into the app

On Facebook messenger you have the ability to mute for an hour from the notification itself. Normally I would use Facebook messenger but for some reason people prefer this app. Could there be an easier way to mute the app without going into the app itself? And perhaps have it in 1 hour/ 5 hour intervals? Also, messenger no longer vibrates with each message after a number of consecutive messages, this is something I would love to have on this app because I can’t tell you how much I love feeling my phone vibrate over and over and over for 30 minutes, wasting my battery. These are all features that can be resolved by going into the app, but messenger makes the process so much easier and I think GroupMe can apply similar techniques.

- Nice, easy

I often use Facebook messenger to communicate with my friends, but for messenger you need internet connection. With group me, you can use both internet AND data. Plus, there’s multiple ways to find people on the app while with regular texting you can only use phone number and with messenger you have to be friends on Facebook. With group me, you can use number or email (I haven’t tried using usernames, but I’m sure it works too). The only real problem I have with it is that the texts are hard to read, so sometimes internet connection ends up being required anyway. (I’m not being paid I swear, I just really like the app).

- Good, but flawed

This is an awesome social networking app to connect with people, schedule events, take polls, etc., but I have a rather bothersome concern to report about the app. The app on my home screen, GroupMe, says I have a certain amount of notifications; even though I have opened and checked all of my chats with no missed messages, etc. It is quite bothersome when I have to constantly open and push every button in the app to finally get the little red bubble at the top-right corner of the app to disappear. Also, it crashes on my iPhone 11. I don’t know if that problem is related to my iPhone (likely not because the phone is less than three months old), or the fact that GroupMe is flawed and needs some additional work and tweaks. Other than that, it is a great app!

- GroupMe Review

GroupMe is an app that helps friends and family contact each other without having to know each other's number. It works by searching up ur friends or you can access your contact to see if any of them have the app. Once you have selected the person you wish to contact you can chose to make it a private conversation or an open conversation where you can add anyone you like. Over all it is a pretty good app it have. It openeds the way to new friendships and relationship. The only thing that I do not like about the app is that when ever your Ina group text, other people can take you out of the group and that you get every notification from the group text. Other than that I think it's a great app that everyone should have. November 15,2017

- Very Good For Groups (Duh)

Ok, so first of all let me say I enjoy this app as a counterpart to texting groups and such. I even prefer it to iMessage because the navigation is so intuitive. It's a perfectly good app, and I recommend downloading it over Skype or something. However, one thing that would make it better, would be if for a direct message, you could make a contact for them, so if they are a close friend you have a nickname for, you could for instance, name 'Kelly' Potato or whatever weird name you have for them 😂. It wouldn't change anything on their side; their group name and universal name wouldn't change at all. Other than some development opportunities, great app that I would definitely recommend to anyone. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

- Innovative. All around great!

This app is great! Other than simply having a chat session, I love that you get set up your notification ringtone on top of being able to control the notifications. I love that you can have multiple groups going. Haven’t had any problem with glitches so far either... Connects to everyone in your contacts if you want it too & shows who is in every group. I like that it’s up to date and shows every little thing—such as who adds a new member, who they added, and when.. You can transfer ownership. And even for the less tech-savvy out there, it’s easy to navigate, set up, and use on a daily basis! 😊 Love it!!

- New add user option

I think there should be an ‘add user by email’ option. I think this would be useful especially in school or work settings where someone might know others’ school or work email address but not necessarily their phone number. When a new user registers their number, they could be given the option, “Would you like to register your school/work email?” If the security of this option is a concern, perhaps only people with the same email domain could add you by email. i.e. only someone in the same company or same school could be added by email. Hope to see this option in the future!

- Good app, PLEASE consider these improvements

GroupMe is kinda the “go to” at my university so i got it cuz everyone and all the clubs uses it. If it wasn't for that, i probably would not have it. It does the job of a texting app, but its not as...developed as the other texting apps like fb messenger and WhatsApp. PLEASE consider these to make the experience on the app better: 1) be able to delete sent pics/messages. Im writing this post rn legit because i just accidentally sent the wrong pic about 3 min ago and i cant unsend it. Even if u make it so it says “the sender has unsent this message” is fine, just PLEASE let me take back my message mistakes 2) be able to send better quality and longer photos/videos Yeah. This is pretty self explanatory. Im sure everyone has ran into tryna send a video thats longer than 30s and it says its too long and becomes grainy 3) consider being able to audio and video call...? A lot of texting apps can do group calls and honestly its kinda inconvenient that we cant on groupme. Everyone in one of my group legit downloaded WhatsApp just so we all can do group calls. Thats all i got for now. Other than that, thanks for a good and easy to use app👍🏾

- Awesome app with one thing missing

The app works phenomenally well and I love the large group sizes, however it is sadly missing a feature that I really enjoy having on WhatsApp: In-chat searches. Being able to type in certain keywords that I still remember from a few days ago makes me able to read through old conversations again, something that is rather discouraged with the hassle of having to scroll up for what feels like hours and still not finding a message. Especially in discussion or advice focused group chats it would be great if you could just pick up a topic where you left off or not have to ask the same question over and over again.

- A better GroupMe. My go-to chat app for friends/family/work!

Thank you for making Geneva Chat! After using GroupMe and WhatsApp for talking with groups of friends and my family for literally a decade, finally here’s a product that’s better designed, faster to use, and: more fun. I’m also considering retiring from using Slack for work and switching my can’t miss Slack channels to one singular “work” Home on Geneva Chat, with various rooms for my different teams to stay organized. So far, Geneva feels less distracting. I really like the structure of Home / Rooms, and the nature of public and private spaces within both. Smart design. Cool app. THX again for making Geneva Chat!

- Groupme needs to own up to its mistakes and get it together

I love groupme. It is so convenient and used to work perfectly for all it is intended to do. Recently though, it crashes nearly every time I open it (my friends and coworkers and fiancé report the same issue), and it repeatedly has this glitch where I can’t add certain people to a group. Even if it’s a brand new group with people that use the app. On all the help forums, many users complain of the same issues but groupme’s response is unhelpful and then they turn off comments so that they cannot be called out. My app is always up to date, I’ve tried both the app and desktop versions, and nothing helps. It is clearly an issue in groupme as a whole. I wish they would own up to the glitches (all apps and programs have them!!) and tell us they acknowledge the issues and are working on a solution.

- Works Well

EDIT: I discovered this was due to the iOS character crash; a user had placed the faulty character in chat group causing the app to become inoperable. After removing the group from the desktop version and re-downloading the app it now works fine. GroupMe, I tried contacting you via HelpDesk, but you don’t seem to have any tech support info. I am currently running 5.15.1 on iOS 11.2.5, and am unable to access the app at all, as it crashes immediately upon opening. I have tried resetting my phone and re-downloading the app to no avail. I rely on GroupMe heavily for business, so please help as quickly as possible. Thank you!

- GroupMe? Great. Notes? I have a couple.

Groupme is a wonderful app that I use daily. That being said, there are a few bugs I would like to shed light on in this review. There have been a lot of issues surrounding the creation of random, large group chats. I am frequently added to these chats, when I would prefer to not be. I would recommend creating a request System for chats so people are able to filter and verify which chats they would or would not like to be a part of. Ideally, this system would work similarly to Instagram’s follow requests, in that an individual attempting to add people to a chat would have to request and wait for the other users to either accept or deny involvement in the chat.

- Good app, but it has certain problems

The app is good and I can communicate effectively with my friends there. But the only problem all of us run into is that the app crashes a lot and sometimes it can occur two or more times consecutively. I don’t know if this issue is only for iPhone users or if people that have androids face this problem but I think the app developers should take this as a serious problem as it really damages our experience with the app. Overall I gave it 3 stars because of this problem as it really bugs us but it does its function and something great about it is that it lets many people join a group which ks perfect for people who have lots of friends and other messaging apps limit to a low number of group members.

- Good, but had some difficulties

It’s a great app for groups to use to stay in touch without giving everyone’s phone numbers away. I recently had a hard time with changing a phone number in the settings. It wouldn’t let me since my new phone number was already receiving massages on a different account that was created (which I didn’t know) when I was added to a group with my new phone rather the email I had set an account up with. In the end, I had to create a new account with a new email to get the messages to send to the app, rather than through SMS. Now that this has been fixed, all my problems have been solved. I was, however, disappointed that the help websites weren’t very clear and in the end left me quite frustrated.

- Needs a Bug Fixed

I always use this app on my iPad and I have a keyboard case, making it so my iPad is always rotated (landscape). Whenever I open this app, it still comes up as it the iPad were upright (portrait). It is quite aggravating because I want to read messages and type at the same time but that can only be done if I tilt my head as far as possible. Other than that, the app is pretty awesome and lets me have group chats with all of the other students in the same lab/lecture with me. Great for large groups and the best part is nobody will have your personal number. Because of the annoying bug, I knocked two stars off. However, the app works awesome on my phone (I don't have to tilt my phone because my keyboard is not detached from my phone)

- Late Arriving Notifications

The people in more than one group I am apart of in the app said they are not receiving notifications properly. The messages are received sometimes hours after an individual sends a message. This includes a group that I am in of 91 members. This is not all the time, however, it is more often than one would want for notifications of high importance and time constrained responses. After checking that I have all of the correct settings above in my account, I have concluded it is not the reason for this issue. Thank you so much for your wonderful app because I enjoy using it for groups of higher member counts and higher organized groups. I have used it for years for various school organizations and social groups. However, I have recently felt let down by the problem.

- Pretty good except needs more controls

I have at least 7 or 8 active GroupMe groups and it is much better than using group texts because I can remove myself whenever I want, I can mute it. I also appreciate the gallery with all our previously shared photos. However, I wish there was a way to make sure that I'm replying to the right group. With so many, it's easy to accidentally say something about drinking on Friday night to the women in my church group. Lol. Also, for groups that are really active- I'd love to be able to organize the conversation in some way so I can catch-up on what I missed while I was actually working without reading through 6 hours of gifs and tangents.

- Keeps force closing

Overall, GroupMe is a perfectly fine app. I use it mostly for college classes and it does it’s job as a messaging service with some fun features. However I have endured one bug for far too long and it’s finally gotten on my last nerve. Sometimes, when I go to open messages, the app will just force close. Which would be fine, except it keeps the little red notification button on the app, even tho in app it says the messages are read, and that doesn’t go away until you get new messages. The force close thing is my main concern because it happens more frequently than it should, but the notification problem that arises after is just plain annoying. I wish this would be fixed!!

- Just a couple things

Really great app. Works amazing if you actually have the app. I have friends though who don’t have smartphones and on their end, this way of group messaging is terrible. But I don’t really know how you would fix that. One thing you could fix though is being able to delete conversations you don’t need anymore. I messaged my band director on here once to let him know my metronome didn’t have the exact tempo I needed for my music test. That was two years ago and I STILL. HAVE IT. Other than that it’s super. Love that you can create surveys, and events, and it’s so easy to see who can come and who can’t.. love it. But PLEASE let me clean out my messages instead of just “hiding” them.

- I’ve been having some glitches

I’ve loved groupme so far and it’s really helped me with staying connected to the world these days BUT there are some glitches I never acknowledged but now that I use group me all the time, I need to address them. For some reason, I’ll send a text and it’ll have that little heart beside it so I’d think it’s sent right? But apparently it doesn’t send until I send another text or something. It happened on my group chat, then it now works. Then it’s happening now on another chat with someone. I have no idea what’s going on and there aren’t any updates available for the app. Help?

- Login Suggestion

I have multiple groupMe accounts, one being a work account and another being my personal account. Both accounts are very active & need to be checked every day, and it’s very inconvenient to have to sign in and out every time. I’d like to suggest a feature that many social media accounts use, that is the ability to switch between accounts without logging in every time. When you add a new account, you put in your login credentials & verify it’s you, and then any time you need to switch accounts, you can do it with ease. This would make balancing professional and personal accounts much more efficient, especially on mobile devices! Thanks.

- Great app but could be better

I use this app soooo much, really it’s pretty awesome. And although there’s many things that I would like to add to the app the main problem that I have with it is how notifications work. Some people think groupmes should be just for announcements others like being able to talk. A revamp of the mute button with tiers of mute would be great. 1st level- all messages ring phone. 2nd level- all messages show up on the lock screen but don’t make noise messages marked as announcements make noise 3rd level- only announcements ring 4th level- total mute As well as this I think there should be a system in place so that if only a small fraction of the group chat is talking a pop up would appear allowing them to make a separate side chat that would only be available for a day or so after the conversation died. Also have a little message that shows up that would announce this side chat to the rest of the group allowing others to join if the want. Overall great useful app and I hope y’all will consider making these changes.

- Bugs need fixed!

I love this app and as a college student I use it often! However, here lately I continuously get a notification saying my message can not be delivered even at times I’m just reading messages and not sending any. I get glitches that say I have no connection and my messages won’t send for at least five minutes and that’s only after I try and try repeatedly. I rely on this app for many clubs and groups I am part of but am very disappointed in the performance lately. I have even stayed up to date with updates including a recent one that was supposed to rid the message not sent glitch, but sadly mine has just become worse. Really would like to see this fixed so I can enjoy the app once again!

- Notifications for one group, but not another? Does that option exist?

Like, my friends uses GroupMe as a place for our college club to keep informed on our schedule and events. I posted something about myself in the chat, ‘cause I made friends, but other people might have thought I was spamming the group. So, I started to talk to only some friends from the club; I wish I could have notifications and banners for a few, but not the main group. If there’s already a setting in the app that can help me, that’s cool. I’ll look this up online. But this app really helps when you don’t have peoples’ numbers. Thanks for reading, I know I might have got carried away in my own story.

- Phone Number

I do have a GroupMe account and I love the app. But there is one thing I don’t really like. You have to have a phone number to have an account. I don’t have a phone or a phone number so I had to sign in under my mother’s account so no one knows of it’s me or her. She also gets my private texts that she doesn’t want to be in but, because it’s under her account she doesn’t have a choice. It’s the same on my end. IS THERE A WAY FOR ME TO LOG IN WITHOUT A PHONE NUMBER? If there is please tell me ASAP ‘cuz it’s getting a little annoying. Thanks! I still love the app either way and will continue to use it! Thanks again!

- Basic functions missing

There are other available group chat apps that have better functionality. I used groupme four years ago to stay connected with a group of friends. Later uninstalled it because we found better ways to communicate. I’ve had to download it and use it again for the neighborhood chat I’m in but it’s frustrating that you still can’t reply to a specific comment as you can in WhatsApp. Worse, you can’t keyword search conversations. So for example, in the current group I’d like to find info someone posted about an electrician. The only way I can find that info is to scroll scroll scroll. It’s baffling that four years later the app hasn’t developed further. Quite honestly if I could convince the group to move off groupme I would.

- Ehh

It’s ok when it works. I hate the thread model. It puts everything all in one thread so when I have to go look for something I have to scroll through hundreds of comments. I also hate that when a practice is created and everyone gets on to choose if they’re going that it goes into the comment thread and adds more needless comments to it. My biggest beef is it’s buggy. Anytime there is a comment my little notification badge comes up on the app and when I look at it, it doesn’t go away, it always says I have new notifications when I don’t. I do like the calendar and that I can add events to my calendar but again, it’s one at a time. I like that you can have different groups. There are a lot of little improvements that could be made to make the app better.

- Love love love it!

This has opened up an easy way to communicate with my work friends (ages 30s-60s). We share successes, gripes, funny and uplifting stuff or things to contemplate. If we need personal communication there’s always a phone call or testing. I keep the sound off and ck occasionally. Some days it’s blowing up and I may have 100 messages but none of us feel bound to it. Some days I don’t ck at all. Just depends. This is our way to visit and keep in touch. Not much time to talk and visit at work! We use multiple GMs for various interests: Weight loss, wine lovers, watercolor painting, Pokeno, planned vacay. The ideas for groups are endless.

- Bugs and Missing Features

This app was originally a great upgrade from iPhone group messaging which couldn’t easily include androids and from fb messenger which was clunky. However, as time has passed bugs and missing features have made the app inferior to other options such as Slack. The bug I’m referring to is the inability to access group settings (group name and avatar) for certain iOS users. Once they fix this bug I’d add a star to my rating. Missing features refers primarily to the inability to search for a specific message within a group chat. This is relatively simple functionality that the groupme team seems to have overlooked. If the app were to fix the bug and add this feature, I’d give it 4 or 5 stars but unfortunately it only deserves 2 in its current state.

- The app is okay but could be much better

The biggest issue that I am having right now is the fact that I use group me on my iPad the majority of the time and for some reason it always takes a long time for the app to go from portrait to landscape mode. Sometimes it just wont turn at all, and then my other issue is that I wish the app could sync with my phone. There are times when I open messages on my phone and then go on my iPad to still see all the notifications from that same message there and the same things happens when I view messages from my iPad. Also the auto brightness thing doesn’t work on my iPad. The app itself is okay but could be much better

- Needs improvements

On the 5-0 scale of most technologically advanced app to least, this app would be a 2. Not only is it incredibly annoying that a pin is required for each login (making it more convenient for people to stay logged in 24/7), the app saves your old profile pictures in the chats. Shouldn’t all the profile pictures change once a new picture is uploaded? Also, why do we need to share our number with people in order to add them on Groupme? I want to message them on groupme so I don’t have to give them my number. There should be a way for people to scan each other’s qr codes or something as an alternative to sharing numbers. Also, voice messages would be nice. In conclusion this is the rotary phone of phones.

- Nice App

Groupme is a great communication tool for large groups and individuals. Any chance though you are going to update the app so that it works with ipad split screen? Groupme will only be a full screen app, a bit frustration when you are trying to use the versatility of the ipad. Also, please change ability to block people who are not in you contact list. I have gotten spam messages and am unable to block these people, VERY annoying. Especially since they send spam at horrible hours of the night. I would also like to be able to truly delete the individual messages from these spam users from my list of conversations, not just hide them, also very annoying.

- Preview of Messages

I love this app.. it always comes in handy so you can have a huge group message, with people who have something other than and iPhone, and also how Snapchat only lets you have 32 people, you can have 132 in a group me!!! I love it. One thing that I think would be awesome is if you could turn the message preview off. Like when you get a message instead of not knowing what group your in, it tell you the group and the person that sent the message. Kind of how you can do it on iMessage! Just a thought that I would like to see change in the future!

- Great app but needs improvement

The app works great and is very useful. However, if you wanted it to be used as an informational platform, I wouldn’t recommend it. Anyone can post on the thread and information shared gets lost on the endless responses by group members. The developers should add a feature in settings that allows anyone to post or just administrator of group to post. Another annoying feature is having to see everyone’s acceptance to a calendar invite. Again, should be a feature that only the administrator can see who accepts the calendar invite. Overall, the app is very useful but can definitely use some improvements.

- Broken app.

I have had a GroupMe for a long time and my Cross Country team uses it to get useful information out to us all in a timely and organized manner. Today we setup a new chat for the varsity runners going into state series and the group has glitched me out multiple times. I have checked that my version was up to date and also deleted the app and reinstalled it. I was able to read the chat for about two minutes when it glitched out again. I texted a few of my teammates and it is happening to them too. I’m sorry to say it, but if I can’t access this information I will have to take my messaging to another app. I really hope this is fixed so I can keep using it. Not only have I had it for years, but it is convenient as well. It would be a sad day if I had to permanently get rid of the app.

- Poll Results by Individual, Search Chat

GroupMe is a very decent messaging app. I use it daily for both work and a large number of group chats that I am in with friends. I would venture to say I send more messages in GroupMe than I do in IMessage (iPhone user). There are some things I like, but the fact that you cannot see who has chosen which answer in the polls is awful. The search is also not great. It allows you to search for a specific chat but there is no way to search a keyword in a chat. The search should operate in the same way iMessage does. If those two items were fixed, and maybe adding the ability to dislike a message, that would improve my usage a lot.

- Just one thing calendar sync

I love Groupme my family introduced it to me. Its a great app for a group of people, so you wont be getting some many text alerts and done know who said what and messages sent outside of the group message. It give you the option to mute all activity to your phone and if you need to stop notifications for a day. This a good app for sorority, businesses partners, nonprofit group, church auxiliary, volunteers, etc. downloaded the app and check it out. A lot of cool trick in here. They only thing is I wish you can sync the event calendar in the app to your phone calendar?

- Good app

I'm only giving this 4 stars. Why? Because you can't place a photo in the comments if you already typed in a comment. You have to erase the entire comment then place the photo and hope either you copied to paste your comment or remember every little word. Ugh. What a pain. I thought I could place a pic AFTER I typed in my comment and I couldn't. So, I hit "send" (the little blue triangle) and by the time I figured out how to get the photo in question onto the app, 50 other comments had come along. I'm in nursing school and we have to use these types of apps to keep abreast of clinicals and classes with our "groups." This app does NOT make that easy.

- Main issue for me is that you can’t change phone #

I got groupme on a different phone number from the one I am currently using, and in attempting to apply a new phone number to my account, the app responds “phone number already in use.” I looked on the Groupme FAQ for an answer to this problem, however the answer has -186 likes, so there’s no way I’m trying that. Gonna try and reach them by email. Groupme is a good app overall until you need to change your phone number, then it becomes unusable. Edit: they fixed the problem and it works just fine now! Emailing their support was the right decision

- GroupMe is Good & Bad

I really love GroupMe for the positive things that it does for family and friends and allowing me to enjoy and share events etc. but I REALLY REALLY HATE the way that they (like Facebook and instagram and the rest) want to access each and every nook and cranny of our lives! They want to control all of my photos and my contact list and have no regard for my desire for personal privacy in these matters. I know that they need a funding stream and that is what drives this and the other sites but that doesn’t mean that I have to give you all of my information because of it. I choose to be free......... even though it will cost me some very VERY helpful and useful services. I just cannot afford that cost

- Love the app but could use improvements

My friends and I use this app a lot due to the convenience of adding and taking people out of the convo. The only issue I have with this app is that this is the way my friends and I do invites to social events. I archive a lot of events due to so many conversations. Some people will post messages after the conversation is archived (because it’s been weeks after the event) and you literally have to go back to every convo and unarchive them to see what was said. I just think it would be so helpful to have a notification of what conversation someone posted in if it’s archived. Other than that, love this app.

- Adding Members to a Group

This app has serious issues that have not been addressed. 1) I have a thousand personal contacts on my iPhone that I do NOT want to add to GroupMe because of clutter and organization. The people from church and Pickleball are the people I want to add to groups and I add them individually by name. I have run into two major glitches. A) When I try to add two people with the same name to a group, the app thinks it’s the same person and won’t allow me to do this. It won’t ask me to type in an email address B) after I enter a name, it asks for an email address. I type in the email address, and when I get to a certain point, the email address disappears and becomes half of a phone number. For example, mickeymouse1234@ disappears and +1 (502) appears. It happens over and over.

- I give 5 stars cause I like the app a lot!!!

But one thing that does get to me is it crashes which there has been updates due to that issue in times past which I’m thankful there trying to keep on top with it and it seems to have a notification when I can’t hardly find out where that is but do to scrolling up and down on some chat rooms it stops the notification due to finding a heart that’s been selected in the upward messages if there is anyway that can be clarified somehow that would be a great help other than that it’s a wonderful app!🙃

- More admin functions

This app is fantastic for communicating with young people. It allows me to put everyone in a group chat regardless of what kind of phone they have (even flip phones!) and ask access on computers. What I’m missing though are more administrative features like notifying people who haven’t responded, changing a member’s name without kicking them and adding them again. I also would love to have control over events attendance. People using sms can’t say they are attending or not and I’d love to update it myself so others can see it in one place as it usually gets lost in the shuffle. Great app that could get even better!

- Security issues! Not safe for kids!

I got the app to communicate with my kids activities and sports teams. When my daughter got a phone I added and account for her. Unfortunately we discovered her phone number had previously been used by someone else, an adult who’s chats contained VERY inappropriate content. We found the person on FB and ask him to change his phone number connected to GroupMe. We added every possible security measure. And yet we continue to have issues. I contacted GroupMe and was told that the accounts are merged and the only solution is to delete her account and start over. If all you need is someone’s phone number to access ALL their account info this seems like a horrible plan for an app. I have asked all groups we are a part of to find news ways of communicating.

- Good but missing some key things

Overall the app is good. It does the basic group messaging functionality and has some basic features like liking a post and uploading a photo or gif but it’s missing some big key things that other apps like WhatsApp and other have. 1. Being the pin/star functionality where you can pin/star import posts to revert back to them later 2. Additional Admin functionality where you can control who can post something. One thing I LOVE about WhatsApp is the feature to only allow Admins to post things. I run a small club and sometimes I just need to push out important quick short blasts to members. I don’t really need them all commenting back on it. To me this is almost a deal breaker. PLEASE PLEASE ADD One good thing that makes GroupMe better than WhatsApp is that users don’t have to download GroupMe to receive messages - they can get them via SMS. Again this great for small clubs where you can send messages and not worry if they have the app downloaded or not.

- Make removing a member easier.

Glad to see all the updates and bugs taken care of. The only thing I would like to see is making it easier to remove a member. We currently have over 1500 members each in 2 chat groups. So imagine the hassle scrolling through 1500 members in the member list to remove them especially when their name is at the end of the alphabet. Please make it possible to remove a member by tapping on one of their posts then clicking on a remove button right from their post instead of having to scroll through the 1500 member list to find them. Thanks. Hope to see this change.
