Love it, there's bugs. So I love this app, have been using it for years, have 100+ stickers, etc etc, but I've noticed some annoying bugs. More than once, my entire timeline of 3+ years of posts has completely disappeared without a trace. Frantically reloading, adding a new post and then deleting it, and other strange methods luckily got it to come back, but it's extremely scary when years of memories are just gone like that. Also, whenever I go to change my profile pic or background, as soon as I select a picture the app completely freezes. It's near impossible to change my profile because of this. Besides this, when opening videos in smaller windows, the app will sometimes randomly crash. And another thing, since the recent updates, several of my friends and I have completely stopped getting notifications from chats, even when all of our settings (LINE and phone settings) have notifications turned on. This is the worst, because I'm constantly missing important messages concerning times to meet up and hang out and all that. Most of these issues have come with updates, I've noticed, and I've done some serious checking to make sure it's not my phone. This is the most important app for my daily life, it's extremely essential that you fix these bugs for the people who depend on this app only for communication. Other than that, it's a fantastic app, and in my opinion it blows other messenger apps out of the water. I hope the dev team is able to see this so that they can get rid of these bugs! 💕
Unbelievable!. I cannot believe how careless the creators can be! They have updated the app, yes! But not the help articles! I just changed my country and wasn’t able to log in! First thing, they don’t have customer support service. It is very non-professional. If their customer are trying to get help there is no body they can email/call. Now you can only login via number and fb. I didn’t have my Facebook linked and since I changed the country, I wasn’t able to get any text. They should have provided the option with the email. Also, a new account was made when i tried to sign in using my current number and i put my old email. The instructions from app told me to reinstall and select the option “existing user” and guess what? There was no option! How can you update the app but your manual for customers is for old versions!! Is this a way you are trying to make money? Because all those expensive stickers can just be gone? This is seriously unbelievable! Now i am not able to change my phone number because it is stuck to the same country I had before. They really need to work on their app and make it easily usable for everyone!
Awful Backup Settings. Line has some of the worst systems for keeping your account recoverable and your media easily organized. Lost all my photos because I didn’t realize they were not part of the official backups I made within the app. They only explicitly say this in a FAQ when I was trying to recover those photos afterwards. Only then did I learn you needed to manually save the photos after I had already transferred my account. This absolutely must be explicitly stated in the backup settings page when setting it up because now there’s no way for me to recover them. I will have to now bug a bunch of people and get what I can very slowly. In general, Keep is a horrible feature since you constantly and manually tell it to save your photos. This is insane as a default. Plus with how incomplete the built in backup tool is you're only one phone accident away from losing some precious memories. Albums are okay and do transfer, thankfully, but many people forget to use that feature so it’s unreliable. I also lost access to a previous account- plus all the stickers I paid for - because of how weird signing up an account was back in the day. I think that it is somewhat better now, years later, but coupled with how bad my transfer experience just was, I think I can no longer recommend using it. It feels so outdated and out of touch with how people use messaging apps. I had no problems transferring WhatsApp and iMessages to my new phone which makes Line’s “features” seem even more awful. Not user friendly at all and so easy to lose media. Never again!
Best chat app. Update: I’ve been using Line for years, but I don’t like it as much as I used to. First, the spam problem is out of control, I constantly get added and messaged by fake accounts and Line seems to have no way to address it. And second, when friends add you they show up in a tiny screen all mixed together with the spam adds and recommended friends. It’s so easy to miss the initial request, and then later have no idea who is a real friend or not, so I allow non-friends to send me messages. Which of course contributes to the spam problem. Line needs a clean way of dealing with friend requests, like Facebook. Original: I just started using Line and now prefer it to Whatsapp, Viber, etc. I have had several int'l phone calls- even without wifi its super clear and of course free! The stickers are also cute and fun to use. I don't get nagged to log in like other people, lucky me I guess. Great app!
Started off great but now some weirdness.. I’ve been using Line with my family and some friends for a while and it’s worked nicely, especially when we’re connecting from abroad. The emojis and filters are fun for messaging. The messaging features have worked really well consistently. Unfortunately, the app stopped working with my phone’s notification features so it doesn’t ring or display a banner for Line calls the way it did before. I’ve checked my settings in both the app itself and on my phone, and have tried deleting then reloading the app as well. None of that resolved the issue. Now today, I received a Line notification banner and ring from the last Line user who called me via the app but the call was actually a regular iPhone call from someone who isn’t a Line user at all. (I never received a notification from the Line caller.) Looks like my app version is up to date. What gives, Line developers?
Trash. If you created an account before 2015 or so, there was an option to login with email. Somewhere in that time, LINE stopped servicing US or UK numbers. So, I never used my phone number to login. Then, one day, when I wanted to change and update my phone number, LINE said I had to receive a text on my out of service number otherwise they wouldn’t give me access to my account, even though when I agreed to terms of service, the option to use my email was sufficient. I repeatedly tried to gain access to my old account and was able to on my desktop app for a little bit of time until recently. My account is now completely inaccessible in spite of my having the password and email I signed up with. Their customer is trash and Asia-centric. They don’t care if you don’t have access to your friends. They don’t care at all and their customer support is non existing. Sayonara LINE. Thanks for nothing.
Very Poor and Risky Product!!. LINE is poorly designed in that it REQUIRES you to use a phone to have an account and then marries the two together… then ONLY allows the app to be loaded on a single phone! Meaning every time you get a new phone or a new phone number you have to perform a complicated and risky transfer of your entire account from one phone to another. It’s just poor design and is NOT a quality product like what you expect. And when you have an issue they have nNO customer support, only AI type canned articles and steps for you to follow on there website. You will never get to speak to a real person, they don’t even have chat support. The number one solution for almost all issues is to DELETE your account and create a new one!! How pathetic. You will lose all your contacts and message history…starting from scratch. Use another message app and avoid the headaches I’ve experienced. Going back to iMessage, which reliable.
Needs more identity verification options. I was enjoying using LINE until I got a new phone. All of my apps and information was transferred from my old phone to my new phone. I couldn't find my password, thought it was saved to the phone. And learned from customer service I'd needed to verify an email address before transferring to the new phone, which is the only way to verify identity. I didn't know this. So I couldn't log into LINE and verify my identity and they said there was nothing they could do. I would have to create a new account as you can't have two accounts under the same phone number. But that would erase my old account and the entire chat history. Which I didn't want to do as there's important information in there. Most other apps and websites have multiple ways to verify identity. I would really appreciate if LINE would create more ways to verify in cases like this so legitimate account owners can access their accounts. And would appreciate if LINE would change their security requirements in general and add more ways to verify identity to help avoid this problem.
Very Disappointing.... I love all Line Corp. apps, I’ve been using their wide selection of apps for the last couple of years. However now, more than ever, these problems have began to annoy me to the point where I’ve simply given up. For whatever reason, other apps such as Line WEBTOON will often force you to login into your Line account. If you are someone like me, who doesn’t use LINE often, this can be very problematic. If you don’t know your information and such, you are simply better off making a new account. Line’s forgotten password system is so backwards. If you don’t have your email registered to the account, you will most likely never see the account again. Even if you have your number, another app, or anything of that nature; if it’s not email, give it up. It should also be mentioned that you literally can’t log out of your account without deleting the app and reinstalling it. If you are looking to sign out, the only option is to delete your entire account. I don’t thing it should be that high of a demand to ask for a simple log-out button, however that’s just me. Although I’ve looked and looked and can’t find it, it may be lurking around somewhere. 🙃 Although I’ve used the app for awhile now, I can’t say I would recommend it to anyone I know/like. Overall, it’s just very inconvenient to use. You will often have to sign in and out, there is no way to recover information other than your email, and it’s impossible to log out without going through an extremely, over-complicated process.
Chat data. So earlier today I was on my iPod but had to run an errand so to stay in touch I got the app on my phone. What the heck is the point of me having to log in and etc if you just DELETE all my chat info anyway. I don't know any other kind of social app that doesn't keep msg data if logging in with the same acc. The chat back up is cool but that shouldn't be necessary to not lose chat info, or make it so it does that automatically. Apple products have automatic back up, you guys should do the same. I mean frankly I'm vexed right now but that doesn't change the fact this is an issue you guys should work on. Also stop getting rid of free stickers you guys have had forever (years). When you take away from what you have, you just make yourself less valuable. I joke fight my friends because they prefer Discord over this and honestly I can’t blame them. Stop taking away from the little you have to compete with. Oh and I’ve bought stickers through the years, so I’m a customer, not just a free-loading opinion.
Deletes everything without warning. God forbid you have a second phone, when you finish setting up that phone, open line, and confirm its you with an sms, it deletes the app from your original phone without warning. You will lose all of your conversation history and the people you were speaking with who weren't in your friends list. All of this with no option to keep everything on your original phone unless you somehow knew this was going to happen beforehand and went into options and attempted to figure out how to configure login on multiple devices at once (which I did after and it still doesn't work - wipes my original device when signing into another). The worst function I’ve ever seen in any app/service, ever. I’ve not only lost important conversations with my land lord, property management, real estate agents, and visa agents, but also the ability to even contact them over this garbage, ad filled, data-mining app. It’s utterly mind-boggling how the team responsible for this nonsense decided a force wipe of your data with no option to stop it is a good idea. I’m moving to a different platform and will be telling everyone “No!” If ever asked to communicate again on this god awful service.
Voice messages cut off. I really like this app but a big problem is that whenever I’m creating a voice message and a phone call comes in or my alarm goes off it cuts off the message and I lose it completely and have to start all over which is frustrating. Same thing happens when I’m listening to a voice message: if a call comes in or my alarm goes off it cuts it off and I have to start over from the beginning to listen to the whole thing again which is repetitive. I would like to request that if, when creating a voice message, it gets cut off, that the app would retain the part that has been recorded up until the interruption instead of losing it. And I would like to request that you create a slider for listening to voice messages so you can start in the middle instead of starting all over again. Thank you for an otherwise great app!
Disheartening. I got introduced to line 5 years ago. I met and called friends on there that I had been talking to. We didn’t use the app for years after that but I still kept the app because I could re-read our chat logs and here’s where the problem comes from. First of all, you have 5 free calls now?? Why not do what discord does and just…make the calls free?? I understand that you have to make money but come on. Secondly, the stupid chat back up thing. It doesn’t make it clear from what I’ve seen that you have to manually BACK YOUR CHAT LOGS UO YOURSELF. Instead of just being like every other chat app that just saves it all for you. I recently got an iPad and while I was adding all the apps on there I got onto the app I had on my phone just to make sure everything was in order and it just locked me out. That is something that honestly should not happen. Me being on the app on two different devices shouldn’t just lock you out of everything, it serves no purpose. Absolutely none. So now, all of my chats are gone and for absolutely no reason. I’m now currently battling with customer service demanding that my chats be put back in place. I’m a “valued customer” but having this type of system in place really does not make me feel like one. I had important things on that app that I want/need to have back. Having this system in place is pointless and honestly just stupid considering how good the app was before and the overall potential that it has.
App’s worst feature: the pointless updates. I’ve been using line to talk to close friends since 2015, before the app featured any sort of calling features. The group call features they added were revolutionary for the app. Suddenly, I was able to talk to the friends I’d been messaging. Being able to reply to messages and @ users in chats were helpful features as well. In the years since, Line has made many updates to its features and interface, but more and more I’ve found them to be pointless and frustrating. The “ ... “ indicator that would let you know when a friend was typing was removed over the past year, adding a needless layer of confusion to talking to someone in dms. Changes have just begun to be added to the timeline, too— the place you’d usually see all of your friends’ and group posts is being converted into “Line VOOM”, where anyone can follow your account and no one can see your posts unless you allow your account to be followed by others. It’s a poor decision that turns what was a safe haven for talking to your friends into a Twitter knockoff. If I wanted to talk to my friends on Twitter, I would just do that. I don’t know anyone that asked for Line VOOM, but I truly hope the developers give users the option to disable features and still be able to post for just their friends to see. If not, I may no longer be using the app when the update launches next year. Overall? Line *has* been great for connecting with friends, but I’m dissatisfied with the way it’s been changed and wouldn’t recommend the updated app to anyone.
Suggestion. Okay to start off, I LOVE this app. It’s adorable and efficient and my friends and I have used it for years. I don’t usually leave reviews but I’m leaving one today because I have a suggestion and I can’t find a suggestion box or email or anything to leave it anywhere else. It’s a super simple suggestion, I just want to be able to see my own profile picture when sending messages. I can see everyone’s that I’m receiving in my group chat, I want to be able to see mine when I’m replying too. Maybe make it a feature you can turn on an off? I have wanted this for years and I’m finally trying to suggest it. I want to see my own chat icon in chat settings. PLEASE. I will give you my money! I just really want this.
My favorite chat app. I really wish more people used this app for messaging. It’s so much more fun than Discord with the various themes, stickers, and avatars. The fact that creators can make their OWN themes and stickers. All of the collaborations with our favorite brands and people (Disney, Nickelodeon, Sanrio, Pokemon, Snoopy, Garfield, Nintendo, Square Enix, HYBE, JYP, SM, YG, the list goes on and on). No need to pay a monthly fee for premium features. The attachment size limit is already much larger, and you can save the attachments and messages in your own albums. There’s even a feature where you can [capture] a conversation with an option to anonymize the names and profile pictures if you want to share a conversation. I cannot praise LINE enough. In response to the bad reviews: I truly don’t understand the bad reviews. I have been using LINE for nearly a decade now and I haven’t had a single issue. Ever. I’ve never heard of anyone getting banned, and I’ve never had to contact customer service for anything. The only situation I’ve ever experienced with logging in is because when you’re logged in on more than one device, the device that is used less will periodically log you out for security reasons, but all you do is just log back in, and it’s extremely easy. With my main device, I’ve never been forced to log out for anything. I did uninstall and reinstall once during the last 10 years, and again, I had zero issues with it. The app even kept all of my data. My only guess is that people are not wanting to use their phone numbers as a means to log in; I hate to break it to y’all, but this is the way East Asian chat apps work. They use your phone number. It’s not a big deal.
Needs to Do Better. I download this app like 6 years ago before going on a vacation on recommendation of a college friend of mine. He recommended it because I was going on a vacation to Japan. Part of the vacation was to see him for the first time he left the U.S.A to move there and ray at his place.I got the so I can get a hold of him better in the beginning. During the part of the vacation I stayed at his place I met a few people that I can only talk to or even get a hold of on the Line app. Fast forward a to this week I finally got a new iPhone. I tried for the first time to get into the app to talk to people on the new iPhone. I noticed I had to login. I tried and was unsuccessful. I look in the help section thinking I could find a chat to ask for help to change my passwords. I could not find anything. What I did fine was that I should have transferred over the Line app in app from my old iPhone to the new one before clearing out the old iPhone completely. I did not know that. Then I found out I found out that I could change my password if I could login with the email I had set in the app. I did not know that I ever had to set an email for the Line app. It looks like a lot other people did not know that either and are having trouble resetting their passwords like I am. If this app could do better and have a way their users can talk or email a support and a better way of changing passwords then a lot more people would have recommended this app to others. Meaning their would be more users world wide on this app then are now. I need to get back into the Line app now. You can do better Line!
How?. Let me get this straight, the line app is perfect and I have had conversations in it, but just months some random person just named “Z” added me by phone number and I didnt think of anything about it because usually you cant add someone with phone number without verification that you know them or something, so I thought it was a family member, I was wrong. They just chatted to me today, in a scam/bot like sentence asking if we know eachother, i respond with, “No, Or atleast im not sure” and about 5 minutes later they ask how they added me and I responded saying, “When I first saw your name, It said by phone number, I believe” another 5 minutes and they respond with saying their name. The first name matched my great aunt, but last name didnt, and they asked me for my name (P.S I am literally 12) and I just really dont like the app for that, I think they should add a feature to where people cant just add another person because they type in a random phone number. SORRY IF THIS IS A RANT THATS USELESS AND JUST OVERALL STUPID
Terrible. I got a new phone. Naturally, I reset my old phone. Now I am trying to log in using my Apple ID information and it is telling me that for some god forsaken reason I need access to my old phone to recover the account even though I am signed into my Apple ID. Now, that is the only way I am able to create an account, and it won’t allow me to use my phone number or email to create an account until I can recover my account which I’m unable to do because I don’t have access to my old phone. In other words, I can never create another LINE account again because I don’t have access to my OLD phone that has nothing to do with anything considering my new phone has all my cloud information on it now. Clearly the developers of this app are extremely unintelligent and clueless, because no one in their right mind would make it this difficult to get an account back. I hope this app somehow gets banned from every country.
Good luck recovering your account. They didn’t think through login recovery very well. I lost my phone and there’s no way I can recover the account. I get the initial text but then I need to enter a password. All the article suggest using your device to recover which isn’t possible since it’s lost. I encourage their product team to look at how other companies handle this. No need to reinvent the wheel especially when the solution they came up with is poorly designed and executed. I had the same issue when I upgraded my phone. Even restoring from a back up doesn’t work. I’m pretty sure it’s a common use case for users to upgrade their devices. If you forget to transfer your account before you get rid of the old device you are out of luck. Line’s account process is severely broken. Line, if you are reading this, things like this prevent user adoption and cost you existing users. I’m pretty sure you are tracking those metrics somewhere.
Been a Line User since 2012 I love it but.... I’ve been using Line since 2012 and it’s my #1 SNS app to chat with my friends I prefer it vastly over Whatsapp (which I only use with my family). Also since I moved back home last April I was relieved to transfer my account to my new number and see everything was left as if I’ve never changed my number, my chat history was there and all even my photos! However it might’ve been changed recently or I haven’t noticed but do you guys remember we could follow Official Accounts from other parts of the world? That’s how I came across Gackt, Flumpool and Uverworld etc (I’ve already been a fan of them I was just happy to find their Line accounts and announcements!) and right now as I was checking to see if I could add more J-Rock bands’ accounts I saw that the ‘change region’ button on the Official Accounts interface disappeared? What’s up with that? I can’t see new accounts from Japan anymore! And honestly the ones from my home country Ecuador are...nothing exciting...therefore could Line bring that back?? Please? Otherwise you would’ve gotten fully 5✨’s from me...
Get ready to create a new account every time you Upgrade to a new phone!. I make notes of all my accounts emails, usernames passwords etc. Whenever I upgrade my phone, line is going to require you to start a new account. I guess that’s the metric they use, ( we have xxxxxxx new people joining every month, see we are a profitable legitimate company!). Except not really. I enter in my email and password for like to tell me it has not record. I log into with my account in my new phone, it pushes a 2 factor verification to me to verify my identity. Then it asks for my password. Which I promptly enter to receive an error message. I then request to reset my password. It asks for my email, Apple if, or fb. I entered the email I used. Only for like app to incorrectly advise it has not record of that email. I try my other email, Apple ID, phone number, only to amuse the developers whom’s automated message incorrectly advises they have no record of any of that. Except they push notifications to my phone, that they have no record of. I get tired of finding the same social group everything time I get a new phone, as apparently forcing their users to set up a new account at every phone upgrade beefs up line’s metrics. Which as they have no obvious customer support whatso ever, makes their many articles advising to do exactly what I have been doing to log back in seem like a sick joke amongst lonely teenage programmers. Unfortunately despite all of the facts I have outlined above, it’s otherwise a decent app. Which is why I took the extra time to clearly and specifically note their obvious problem/$ making scheme, in the hopes they actually read these reviews, and will reach out to address this problem.
Great app, however.... It’s a really good app and has quite a few good features, but the LINE points promotions aren’t working for me? I have yet to see any promotions on the page, and it’s frustrating me because there seems to be no other way to get points. The help menus continually tell me to register a phone number to get points whenever I search for a possible solution, but I already have. I don’t know what kind of issue this is or if it can be fixed but I’d like it to be resolved. On a different note, when you type in a chat, related stickers pop up with certain words (like the word can has stickers of tin cans), and while that’s sometimes helpful, it also somewhat frustrates me. When you chose a sticker, it replaces the related word (it highlights the word so you know which one it’s referencing, thankfully). Another thing is that the thing that pops up with the stickers blocks you from seeing the chat if you want to read what someone else sent as you’re typing.
Help please…. Ever since I installed this app I’ve had nothing but difficulties with it. I installed it and made a profile while in the US to stay in touch with my Japanese friends who were returning home. However, every time I tried to add friends/ verify my account via text or email, I encountered an error message saying “access denied: please confirm your authority and try again”. I’m in Japan now and I really need to use Line as it’s the most common communication app, and it’s extremely practical for everyday life, but I still can’t do anything. I just uninstalled and reinstalled the app today and now I can’t even log in. I got an error message saying “verification is temporarily blocked. Please wait 99 days and try again”. Honestly, not only is this frustrating, but it’s also making it difficult for me to get access to information. My school has important announcements and information that are sent via Line that I can’t access. If anyone has any advice please let me know.
Horrible App. This app does not even deserve 1 star, but unfortunately I cannot give 0 stars. DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS APP! This app is HORRIBLY set up. Their customer support is USELESS. There is NO way to contact them except through their TEDIOUS Inquiry form on their website. There is NO email NO phone number. Why do they want users phone numbers, Apple IDs, and Google Accounts when they fail to provide their own phone number and email contacts? Because of Line’s INCOMPETENCE and their method of STEALING personal data, I am forced to lose important contacts that I have no other way of contacting. If you want to login on PC or another non-smartphone device, you must authenticate through your original smartphone app. Even if you know your registered email address and password, you will not be able to log in on the smartphone because you need to log in with phone number, Apple ID, or Google account. Furthermore, just because your email address is a Gmail account does not mean that your account is automatically connected to s Google account. When my phone broke out of the blue, I was unable to log in on my new phone. It is unreasonable and ridiculously stupid that I can’t log in on my laptop because I must authenticate through a smartphone Line app. Changing any passwords, settings, etc. must be done through the logged in smartphone app. Line is trying to obtain all users data and personal information by forcing users to connect their phone number, Apple ID, and Google account. Who knows what they will do with this information?
USA - Can’t access my account anymore. Got a new phone, didn’t know I needed my old phone to transfer - huge mistake apparently. Cannot use phone number to login. No option on the app to use email and password (which I have) - only Apple ID or Google. Even though both are associated with my email, LINE says they can’t identify any existing account - even though when I use google, the google app screen says “I’m signing back in” to LINE. Still can’t get in. Tried creating a new account but if I try to add my email it says it will unlink from my old account (acknowledging it exists in the first place) and only be used with my new account. So basically LINE knows my account is there and none of its login methods is smart enough or working to link the 2 accounts together. The “inquiry” form is terrible and doesn’t allow free typing so you have to choose the right prompts and attach screenshots and just hope you did it right. Currently waiting for a reply from support.
Terrible account recovery and customer service. I recently purchased a new phone which included a trade-in of my old device. After transferring all of my data to my new phone, I wiped my old phone and submitted it to the Apple Store, not thinking too much about logging back in to my Line account since I hadn’t changed phone numbers or any other sensitive information. I had switched phones back in 2021 and had no issues transferring everything over. Upon returning home, I discovered that I needed the old device to verify my account, and without it I would have no way of accessing my contacts or chat history on Line— I was completely locked out and would have to make a brand new account. I reached out to customer support, and they did nothing to help me recover my account but repeatedly send me to help articles that did not fit my situation. I’ve lost contact information for friends and family abroad that I may never be able to get back, all because of an inflexible security policy and completely useless customer service platform. I would not recommend this platform if you can avoid it.
Unimpressed with an unnecessary glitch. After one of the recent big updates, the quality of the app deteriorated in my opinion. While I can still receive videos and pictures, I can’t send any of my own. It takes over 30 minutes over resending before they finally go through, if they ever go through at all. I’ve used this app for over two years now and this is the first time I’ve had this issue, and it only came after an update. I’m without wifi in my current situation, but my other apps send and receive pictures and videos just find on my data so the problem isn’t caused by the lack of wifi. When I finally had a wifi connection a few days ago, the problem persisted. This is an in app issue that shouldn’t have been a problem to begin with. Whatever was changed that may have caused that shouldn’t have been changed at all.
Great features but 1 huge problem not fixed. There are many great reasons why I’ve moved a lot of my group messaging over from other apps to line app years ago. we use this for family & business. HOWEVER, after using it for years and having emails/messages back-and-forth with people of Line app, A huge glaring problem is the fact that you cannot delete notes someone else posted. Even if that account is no longer active or even accessible by the person who created the account. It creates a huge headache when you have 100+ people on one line chat and you have to create a brand new one because members have left and you can’t delete old Notes with information that’s no longer relevant. We have even suggested that perhaps they could create an owner, admin, or moderator position for each chat that could at least have the ability to clean up notes. Our primary messaging app was GroupMe and we still use it here and there. Considering moving back.. Group me‘s developers were amazing in how easy it was to contact them and their dialogue for troubleshooting and also brainstorming suggestions that they implemented. That is NOT the case when we have tried to give feedback directly to line app.
Don’t use app on multiple devices. Been using this app for years never had a problem until today. I downloaded line on my chrome book and when i signed in it booted me out of the app on my iPhone. When i logged back into my iPhone all of my chat history was gone. Years of messages that i didn't want to lose. I understand not being able to use it on two different devices at the same time but if it kicks you off it shouldn't delete everything. I googled the problem to see if there was a solution, but no there is not. Seems like a common problem and i wasn't the first it has happened to. You can backup your chat in the settings but it is too late for me now (also i shouldnt have to backup my history in the first place) This has never happened to me with any app before it needs to change. Hope the developers see this and do something about it. Fb messenger and discord do not have this problem. If changes are made ill change/edit my review.
Disappointing. Edit: LINE will not let me delete my account unless I send them photos/screenshots of my personal information including info about the contract holder of the phone number associated with the LINE account and information about the phone contract itself. Not only that, if the phone contract holder’s name is different from the name of the LINE account holder, you are to confirm your relationship by sending photos of an official document showing the relationship. Utterly ridiculous. After almost a year of using Line to interact and communicate with a group of fellow photographers I suddenly found my messages, both in private messages and the main chat, not being sent or read. Through messages on another app I was able to confirm that while it looked like my messages were sending on Line, they actually were not. I reached out to Line and all they’d say is that my account was suspended due to me violating some Term & Condition, they then provided a list of common violations (the usual suspects; soliciting personal information, violent or obscene behaviour etc) which I had not violated. Line then tells you they can’t provide details about the violation and how it was determined and you also can’t respond back to them regarding the inquiring. I opened a second inquiry, referencing the first and that one has gone ignored for almost two weeks. A look back at my chat history clearly shows I haven’t violated anything but Line continues to suspend my account and will not respond back to me. Apparently this isn’t an isolated occurrence as a Google search led me to multiple Reddit threads where people have experienced the same nonsense suspensions and lack in communication.
Unable to login!. I have been using LINE to play TsumTsum for years. I never really use the app itself other than to access my account. I decided to log in to add a friend, however, it now only gives the option to log in using my AppleID or a phone number. While my phone number was registered, it was removed as it's not one of the countries where you can add your number anymore. I also never linked my AppleID since that was a more recent change and I haven't opened the app itself in a while. However, my email is the same as my AppleID email but despite this, I am still unable to log in. It says in their FAQ that if you don't have your number for transferring your account and you are not within certain countries you cannot do anything about this. This is very inconvenient and there should be an option to verify your account by email then be required to add a verification method. I don't want all my game data to be erased because of this.
Great and all but some minor problems and horrible customer support. I’ve been using the app for years now, it’s my #1 messaging app instead of iMessage because of the cute themes and stickers it has. Just recently, I’ve had problems when I reply on my lock screen on my phone, sometimes my messages don’t send at all. So I would have to log into my phone and then go into the app and reply again just for it to send. It’s quite the hassle and sometimes it does not notify me when I receive a message... I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the app a few times and same issue occurs.. contacted customer support and it literally took them a week before answering back to me and made me take a survey and answer questions. I waited yet another week just to get a reply saying that it is a problem with my OS on my phone and told me to update to the latest IOS update. Which I already am on. I even went to apple and got a replacement phone and it’s still happening. Please look into it and fix this issue.
A few annoying things. I've been using line for about a year. There's really a few things I really can't stand. There's so many stickers and there's no way I am scrolling for 60 hours to see them all - they need to categorize them better and make it easier to find the ones you want. I was looking for a set of stickers and finally just gave up even though I know it was there. Second thing is your stickers and everything else you bought needs to transfer to all your devices with just your phone number because I don't want to make an account, I'm sick of making accounts for everything, a phone number with a pin should be enough. Cause I just lost $30 worth of stuff. Also come on, 600 MILLION users and no way to meet new people. There are no chatrooms or groups you can join to meet new people. It’s all by invite/you have to know them already. I want the ability to meet NEW people by joining groups or chatrooms.
New Update. I’ve been using this app on and off for almost 5 years, one of my favorite features has always been the ability to swipe to see chat albums and chat notes, it made everything so simple and comprehensive, as notes have always been very important in the chats I am in. Unfortunately, the newest update removes that feature to favor a “swipe to reply” system, which I have found to be completely unnecessary and rather frustrating to use. Nearly nobody that I know ever even uses the reply feature, all important inquiries are usually found in notes, which were once easily accessible with just a swipe. Additionally, any “replies” to inquiries made in chat would just be responses to the conversation, you know, like how normal people talk. The unique feature of even having notes is what drew me to Line in the first place, and making it more difficult to reach those notes really discourages me from using the app. This update got rid of the most important aspect of Line, and will prevent me from using their services in the future.
This app keeps my mom and I connected. I’ve been wanting to THANK the line developers for years because this app has kept an open line of communication for FREE with my mother and I. Let me preface by saying I live in the USA and my mom has been stuck in Japan for years now. This app has been such a God-send because of the streamline of streamless communication between her and I. In the past, before smart phones existed, my mom and I would have to use long distance calls to talk to each other, which was very expensive and provided an unreliable connection. This app has eliminated the anxiet ways of long-distanced communication. Plus the social features with stickers and walls are a fun way to communicate. The video function works great also. Anyways, to the developers of LINE, thank you from the bottom of my heart, truly.
Backup doesn’t work and has never worked. I’d give this a slightly better review (maybe three stars?) were it not for the fact that the backup doesn’t work. I moved from the US to Asia, and I’d like to change the region on my Line app so that I can use some of the features that are only available in my new place of residence. However, if I don’t back up my chats first, I will lose all of my chat history. So, enter me, trying a couple of times per week for the last *three months* to try and back up my chats. Guess what? Every time I’ve tried, backup has failed. I’ve tried all of the fixes proposed online, and none of them have worked. So basically, my choices are don’t take advantage of the features Line has in my current region, or lose my entire chat history, complete with photos and links that I enjoy and want to keep. Also, enough people complain about this widely online that it’s really disappointing that Line just refuses to fix this. This pretty much sums up the company’s disregard for users. I’d really recommend any messaging app over Line, unless you live in a region where it’s semi-mandatory, as I do.
Mobile to mobile issues. Over the 2 years I’ve been using LINE now I have liked it better than other chat apps, however, whenever I switch phones and try to log In it tells me that either my email or password is unrecognizable. So I tap the forgot password link and enter my email to reset it. BUT! LINE has no record of my email ever existing?!? 🤬 twice now it has done this. I’ve had the same and ONLY email for 15 years. Used it both times to open new accounts so I could chat with my buddies halfway across the world but I swear. One of my games has switched to discord over these issues and if the other one does I’m dropping line completely. Listen to me, you are losing customers over stupid issues. This is neither a new problem nor a complicated problem. I already refuse to spend money on your app anymore where I used to buy stickers left right now I am considering dropping you completely as have many that I know over these very simple and yet continually ignored problems. Fix your house LINE Or soon you’ll find you have no customers at all
Translation.. I love line but I’m giving it three stars because the translation bots are really really bad! It never translates properly and the translation is always wrong. It makes it very difficult to talk to your friends whose first language isn’t English without confusing the both of us. I literally have to copy what they say into another app in order to have it translated properly. They always change your entire Sentence to something you never even said and confuses everyone in your chat. It’s just very wrong. How has this not been fixed yet? Please check into this because I’d hate to have to find another app to use because of it. It doesn’t help us learn one another’s language properly because it’s always changing the sentences to something that wants said. One of my sentences it literally added 25 commas! Why would it do that?! It’s confusing to everyone to be this inaccurate! Please look into this issue.
The messaging app!. Of all the apps out there, messenger whats app.. etc. Nothing compares to this one. Been using it since 2017. It is how I connect with my friends 24/7 best clear video and sound. Stickers??!! their collection is beyond the best out there. I connect seamlessly in it from USA to Europe. Had friends from mideast. You can even have a group video call and play a game together. It is beyond me how this app has not been more known than whatsapp n messenger when it's hands down better waaay better than them. Obviously you need a good wi-fi or cellular data. Due to the great quality it consumes more data than your average app. unbelievably awesome! my fiancé and I could have never survived our long distance relationship across continents without line. No I am not paid reviewer. This is the smallest thank you from myself and my fiancé. The developers of this app are genius!! I hope it stays as great as it is. Their stickers too. You the best! I am a grown up adult but will never outgrow these browny and Connie stickers n that little duckling one lol!
Love the stickers, but.... My boyfriend and I love to use LINE for its stickers! It’s the only app we use to message each other, and there’s so many stickers to choose from. I admit I’ve spent more on stickers than I should have, but I can’t help it!! They’re too cute! I do wish that there weren’t region locked stickers... I recently bought an Apple Watch and am very disappointed in the watch app... Not being able to view read messages has really gotten annoying, because I tend to send stickers and respond. Also, not being able to use scribble has made it difficult for me to reply to any messages at work. Another issue is the fact that I cannot use the stickers I paid for. Understandably it may take some time to be able to configure it to share the stickers, but I would love to at least be able to choose a set that I can use... the default ones aren’t exactly my favorite.. I hope one day they will be able to update it but as of now I’m stuck using KakaoTalk if I want to message friends via my Watch.
Very upset. I’ve had line app since 2016, I haven’t been message banned in YEARS. Lately with all these new updates etc I’ve been getting message banned for absolutely no reason. I’ve never posted or sent anything that goes against their terms or services yet I’m message banned. I made a new account lost ALL my stickers and ALOT of money went into stickers. The app was great to use over the years because the stickers and other things are great. But when your constantly getting message banned for no reason it gets annoying. It’s like the app purposely allows people to get u banned so u make a new account and get new stickers which means more money wasted. I’ve sent email after email asking them to remove my ban, and honestly I feel they r just a bunch of greedy selfish people. Some people make great memories on this app and we end up losing everything from chat rooms, to stickers, to contacts of your friends. This is ridiculous and unfair. They could easily remove my message ban but they won’t because they want us to make new accounts and waste more money on this app. This app use to be amazing. Now it’s straight up garbage. I hope they end up removing my suspension. I would love to write a good review but this is crazy.
Love the App. I don’t know why lots of people are giving bad reviews on this app. I haven’t had any issues. I love the animated stickers a lot as well as the animated stickers with sound. I would really like to see lots more Disney animated stickers with sound in the future, due to those being my favorite stickers to buy. And there is very good deals on token prices and really love that. I’m not much of a big spender but when I see something I really like and can get it for cheap I always go for it but still careful not to go to crazy at the same time lol. Thanks so much for this awesome app! I was very hesitant at first but had lots of people persuade me to get this app. So I downloaded it and haven’t stopped loving it since I downloaded it. Keep up the good work!!!! And I look forward to any new and exciting updates.
Pretty good.. So I’d say Line is like the best thing that has ever happened to me since I’m not allowed to have a social media account. It’s easy to use, I can stay in touch with all my friends and family who have the app themselves, and hey, who doesn’t like personalization?! Line allows you to personalize your app so it’s looks are to your liking and you can even add in some stickers. On that note, let me just say. LINE POINTS ARE IMPOSSIBLE TO GET. You NEED Line points to get those personalized themes and stickers. You NEED Line points for your Line to not be boring. But there’s like NO WAY for you to get Line points. Of course there is the option of “follow the Line Points account for free Line points”. I tried and then realized that there is an EXPIRATION date to how long your point activation lasts. And this can only be done ONCE. What’s worse? They only give you 5. It says 20! What can you do with 5 points? It’s pretty much like “I’ll give you 20 points but I didn’t feel like it so I’ll give you 5”. There is no system where you can accumulate more points over time which I think is needed. The only way to get points is from gift cards or hacking. And we all know you don’t want any of your personal info to be leaked right?
Forward Thinking. Out of all the messaging company apps and having been able to use all of them quite extensively, the verdict for me would be that Line is the most forward thinking and practical out of all of them. The things that Line offers really targets the global market unlike the others. WeChat only focuses on China, KakaoTalk is very much popular only in Korea, WhatsApp and Messenger are well, on targeted to US and European consumers because it’s hardly ever used in Asia. Line on the other hand has a very even consumer base and this is what stands out with them. They are a Japanese base company but targets the entire market which is always good. Their camera is also quite feature rich and very fun to use. It can practically replace the default camera app of the iPhone. Japan always gets it right, man.
What?. Not sure how this subpar app with absolutely no helpful customer service took over all of Japan, but it’s been a frustrating run with this thing. I’m currently completely unable to log in on my phone, so I tried the desktop app, which is impossible to log in to....without your phone? Isn’t that pretty illogical? I would imagine that using the desktop version would be a telltale sign that the phone app isn’t working. So now I have zero contact with all my Japanese friends I met during study abroad. Not only that, but before I got logged out, it inexplicably just stopped delivering my messages for three months. What’s that all about? Everyone thought I was reading their messages but just being a schlub and not responding. This app is subpar at best when it’s working, and just a nightmare when you need help. Send an email to the support line and you’ll get a completely automated response, with no option to talk to a human. At a loss for what to do about this. Meet new friends I guess?
WHAT??!!!. Ok so, first of all Line is my favourite texting app and I’ve been using it for YEARS. I’ve had no problems with it up until like 5 minutes ago. It was working fine since I was able to chat and video call with my friends about an hour ago. I hung up and left the app and I was going back and I went to the chats place and it’s just showing me a loading circle and nothing happening. When I press anything nothing works and the app just closes itself and takes me to my Home Screen. My friend sent me a message that she is having the same problem with line. I was thinking of deleting it and reinstalling it but that would mean I lose all my texts and data on it. My friend said she restarted her phone but the problem was still there. Please fix this cuz I don’t want to lose anything. PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME AND PLEASE FIX THIS 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭. I can’t even back up the messages since it won’t let me do anything on the app. The page is just frozen and just keeps loading. That’s all and I’m so stressed from this.
Great app but shop is frustrating.. One of the best things about Line is the variety of stickers made both officially and by creators. I love looking in the store often to see what new ones are available. My review is going to be nit picky about little things that most people probably aren’t bothered by. A long time ago when you browsed in the shop, if you were to pick a sticker to look at in more detail but then hit the back button, it would remember your position. Now resets back to the beginning each time you look at a sticker then go back to the list. Not only that but for whatever reason, they have ranking sorts that is defaulted to women, 20 to 29 for me - I keep manually picking everyone, all ages - I wish there was a way for us to pick our own defaults. Another thing is because I have a stupid amount of stickers, maybe we can have folders to organize our stickers. Last suggestion, there are some artists I buy stickers from when they release. But because of the first issue above, it’s a pain to check. It would be a nice feature to have a tab maybe of creators you want to follow or a feed that shows latest stickers uploaded by creators you previously purchased from. Besides this, Line is a great app to use. I’ve been using it for several years now and wished more of my friends would use it.
DO NOT RUIN YOURSELF DO NOT USE IT!!!. If you want to be suspended for no apparent reason, please use this software. And please note that contacting customer service will not work when your service is suspended for no apparent reason. First of all, it is extremely difficult for you to contact their customer service. There is no port that allows you to contact them, and this is when you cannot log in to your account. Secondly, after you have gone through so much trouble to contact customer service, they will only use standard terms to get rid of you and will not do anything else. It feels like the customer service is a robot and they don't care about their customers, so you can see that the rating of this software is only 3.3 points. You can search on Google for cases of being suspended for no apparent reason, and no case has been solved. In short, please don't use it! Unless you want to ruin yourself!!! BTW: I do not want to give it any stars, but I have to give it 1 star to post it.
Account suspended immediately after registering. Context: I will be relocating to Japan soon, and as part of Japan’s quarantine measures, immigration officials will require me to download and update them on my health status via Line. Upon downloading Line and registering for the first time, my account was IMMEDIATELY suspended. The majority of features showed errors, such as adding a profile picture or viewing the sticker store. I attempted to uninstall and redownload, but upon attempting to log in I was greeted by a message saying Line verification is temporarily unavailable. Several weeks later, I emailed support, only for them to respond that my account was in fact suspended for violating their terms of service. How could this be, when the only thing I have managed to accomplish on the app is add a profile picture, the same picture that I use for services such as LinkedIn? I am at a complete loss, as customer service told me that there is nothing they can do. So now, I am unsure of how the Japan immigration process will unfold seeing as how I have been banned from the app they use to monitor COVID-19, despite me having done absolutely nothing! I have spent mere minutes in the app, added no one, messaged no one, and called no one. I am beyond bewildered and am incredibly disappointed in this app.

LINE 7.12.1 update drains 20% battery within 5 min, Stickers broken.. * After the 7.12.1 update, as soon as the Line app was launch, the iPhone becomes very hot when downloading all the messages. Within 5 min, 20% of battery was drained. The only solution is to close the app ASAP. Drainage of battery is one thing, the boiling battery is a real worry ... I hope Line will not turn my Apple into a Sumsung. * Sticker suggestion is broken also. * Very disappointing... * Please fixed these problems.
Flaky. After the last update, it seems flaky. I get notifications of messages but they don’t appear until I restart the app. I have reinstalled it, reset network settings, restarted the phone but it is still flaky.
Fix now. So I just downloaded this and I created a fb account to sign up, but now it’s saying that the app needs to be updated, or u can’t use Facebook to sign up. I currently don’t have a phone, so no. I can’t use a phone number. It says nowhere that this app needs updating and if u couldn’t use facebook to log in anymore, it would’ve been removed. I don’t understand what’s going on

Major issues. From a couple of weeks ago, When connected to wifi, it doesnt receive nor send out any messages. It works fine on laptop so it rules out its the wifi thats causing issue. This happens to my wife as well. If this issue persists for any longer, we are gonna have to abandon Line as messaging app that I cant message another person is useless
Translation function.. Why there is no translation button on this app!!! I have friends on groups that write in Chinese, Japanese and Korean. Every other app have this function except LINE. When are you guys going to get around to add this absolutely necessary function to your app!! Till then 3 star only.
Cannot phone. I have been on Line for over 6 months and it has been working well it has been the sole means of texting and phoning my lady friend who lives in Laos and sometimes here in Sydney where she is at moment. For last few days I have not been able to ring her sometimes there is a ringing tone on my phone but none on her phone. She can phone me. Any suggestions?? Would some third party be able to interfere with our connection?? Or. have I pushed the wrong button ?? Thanks
TERRIBLE. I have lost access to my account after transferring all of my data to a new phone with the SAME phone number. Apparently my email address is not registered, and I do not remember my password, so I can’t get into my account. No phone number for customer service and the response to the online form is a copy and paste of what is on the website. So now I have lost all of my work stuff if I can’t access my account?? What kind of joke is this I can prove my identity, I’ve already told you that. What do I have to do to speak to a real person?
Excellent for free messaging and phone calls. I have been using Line in multiple countries for years and highly recommend it. The system works brilliant from speed to user experience. They also have a desktop app that connects very well should you need to call or message from a computer. Out of all the online messaging and calling apps, I’ve defiantly found Line to be the best.
Line Messaging chat app needs a automatic language translation feature. If Line Messaging chat app needs a automatic language translation feature or I could just tap on each message and select translate I could keep track of what is being said in the group but unfortunately Line Messaging chat app does not have that feature I will send to Line Messaging chat app makers who Made in the App Store Send a message to the vendor and maybe one day they might actually add this feature.
Bug has happened?. After I upgrade to ax’s and installed the new version of line app. It has gone weird. When the app is not function under using, some of message would be missed. Then you have to open the app to see the massage. However, it has been sent for a long while. Hope the mechanic can fix this bug.
This is an amazing game/social website!. I always go on this after school to talk to all of my friends after school! I really enjoy it but there’s one problem just for me though.... my friends don’t have this problem though it’s actually just me. I can’t use the filters while FaceTiming!
Can’t sign up. Something went wrong when I want to sign up via confirming sms message to mobile, system no response and ‘send bottom’ not working
Voice in video calls distorted. The voice to voice in video calls has become very scratchy and distorted since the last update to the point you get your sentences read back to you. Echoing can also be heard. I’m using iPhone 8 and my partner is using Samsung 9 and having the same, I don’t think the issue is the phones. 5 stars though if you fix the problem.
Screenshot Glitches. Since I updated my phone to iOS 17, I’ve noticed that whenever I send a picture/screenshot in the chat with some editing (drawing etc), the actual picture in the chat will look really funny. No problem sending the originals in the chat though. Thought this will be fixed in Line’s latest update today but no it’s still the same 🤔
Phone calls & video broken!. This app won’t allow phone or video calls on my iPad (iPad mini 5). It keeps coming up with the message “Unable to make call, please try again - R102” I’ve tried deleting and reinstalling the app & lost all my chat history and it still doesn’t work. I’ve given permission to all the voice and video settings and still not working. Why? Also there appears to be no way to restore your chat history on an iPad even if you’ve backed it up to iCloud on your iPhone. Very frustrating! It’s better than having nothing but not a good experience.
Voice messages. I noticed in the last update that you (LINE) changed the voice recording icon back to its original feature, this makes it difficult for me to voice record whilst doing other things, i liked how it was before you changed it again, i could have it recording without me having to hold the button down, i have a twitch in my fingers, so sometimes when i’m recording i lift my fingers too early and it sends the message through only taking part of what i want it to, could you keep it the way it is but add a release and record feature to it instead of release and send or release and cancel, it becomes very annoying. Thanks!
Sticker suggestions slow. Must be the new update as I see a few complaints about this, but the sticker suggestions don't come up anymore. I have to go into the settings to turn the display suggestion option on and off before it works. And when you go to a different app and back in, you'll need to repeat the process. Quite tedious
Horrible experience. Line used to be good until recent. I get notifications and when I press to go into them it doesn’t show up and I need to go out and back in multiple times to finally see the message. I deleted the app and reinstalled to see if that would fix the issue but now I can’t even log in and it’s always just stuck on the loading page. I’m mad.
So many options. This is my favourite all round communication app for games. Private or group discussions, translation bots, group polls and memos, stickers, camera app and more. Only request is to keep working on the translation bots as the translation can be pretty bad.

Don’t change handsets or you’ll never get back on. Absolutely the worst app I’ve ever encountered if you’re trying to login from a new device. Zero options to register (that actually work). Requires the user still has old device. How TF do you do that if you’ve lost or disposed of told one? Couldn’t hate this app more than I currently do. Useless.
LOSING YOUR DATA EASILY. Line is so unnecessarily difficult when it comes to backing up or restoring your data. You could back up again and again just to simply switch phones and all your data is gone. They say it’s backed up but no. Everything is so easily lost. They need to be like Messenger or other communication apps where your data is under your account no matter if you change your phone or if you open the app on different devices and you don’t have to constantly save everything. It’s just horrible and difficult
No sticker suggestion any more, what is the point?. Once the update is done, there is no sticker suggestion. I went to setting and turned on the sticker suggestion, it also dose not work! I click on download English suggestion, it takes forever to download. Until today, I still do not have the suggestion and with all the stickers that I purchased, I really cannot use them no more.
line is so useful and great. i use line to communicate with family and friends. it is easy to use, with cute stamps and customisation of profile!! i like that i can link my account on multiple devices, and also like the line voom feature. only issues i have are: 1. i want to be able to see who read my message in a group chat 2. i want a reaction emoji that is not a face (like just a simple heart) that’s it! i love line 💚 oh yeah also forgot to mention but it’s the easiest method for me to call w people out of country (e.g my friends in Japan). also, i like the way i can unsend messages !!
Apple notifications. I’m from Australia and the app doesn’t give any notifications in last few weeks. I tried everything but nothing worked. Is it something that you experienced or reported? Can you please fix it?

Impossible to login, and no way to contact Line to get it fixed. Leaving this review is apparently the only way to contact line, on what planet is that considered a good way to provide a service. My wife cannot login to her account because it does not recognize her password. The password has been reset multiple times and NEVER works!!!!!! Since she started using Line, every single time she changes her phone or the app is logged out for whatever reason, logging back in is a nightmare of epic proportions. GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER LINE!!!!!!!!
Good so far. So far as I been using Line, the app works just fine. Tho sometimes and this is especially when I seem to not b on for a while, it says I got certain amount of notifications to see / that I may have miss but I scroll through all of them & pretty sure I have read all the notifications. Is this due to me not being on for so long or some kinda bug, I dunno
Perfect App!. So I was looking for a 12+ app for texting with my friends and my parents recommended this. So far, it’s been the app I always use for communicating. Everything about it is easy to use and understand, you can call, text, all with a push of a button or two. Overall, a incredibly simple and easy to use app.
Bad experience. When you are having a problem with the application, the staff didnt actually try to help you resolve the problem. Just handed you a general information. Asked you a lot of questions about the problem. Asked you to provide tons of information and details about the problem but didnt even look through them and didnt even try to help.
Dark mode in next update. The line app could benefit from having Dark Mode on/off option within the app

Very handy!. Everyone's using Facebook messenger and other apps with too much going on. Line is simple, and very user friendly. Also if your internet connection is compromised or have an unsafe connection, it won't load.
Great app, easy to use.. Hi guys, I have noticed in the last few weeks that messages do not display instantly. If notifications are turned on then you see the message pop up. However when you open the app to read the message there is a delay, it appears in the chat window after a few seconds. Today the notification appeared however on opening the app and opening the chat window for the relevant contact, the message didn’t appear. Only on closing and reopening the app did the message would appear. Could you please fix this. I know I am not the only one with this issue as I had a contact overseas who said it was occurring for them as well. Keep up the good work 👍🏻

Devs don’t care about feeedbacks.. I have emailed them twice asking if they could add an option to turn off the “Desktop Login notification” on the iPhone App. Users know what they are doing and not everyone wants to be bothered by this alert that leaves a permanent unread balloon on the icon. The LINE app has no feedback option anywhere - the devs simply do *not* want to hear anything from you-, so I had to google for their Korean email address, and wrote them if this could be implemented. On both occasions they just gave a lame excuse saying “please understand it takes time for us to review your feedback and may not be implemented based on our review”. If this kind of super simple “toggle on/off” feature cannot be implemented, I don’t know what the devs are doing really. Adding bunch of features that are either gimmick or used once a week/once a month is not really helping anyone. I use both LINE app and LINE for Windows. So the implied solution is “just don’t use the windows version”? Great attitude.
Nice but lots of problems. If I have 2 phones and want to log in to a PC and either of the phones it doesn’t work. Only 2 devices work for some strange reason. Data can’t be backed up to a file then reloaded so every time you wipe a PC or get a new phone you lose your data. It also doesn’t tell you what data won’t be synced or backed up. Data doesn’t sync if it’s slightly older that the mystery point. This is terrible. I just want to be able to keep the data and back it up to import everything. The current sync doesn’t sync everything. Just a request but a shareable whiteboard would be a nice feature in group chats. Names can only be 20 characters long. It’s not enough space to write a note next to anyone’s name so we can remember who people are. I now have 3,000 contacts so searches are a tiny but slow as well. These are just a few points. If you could sync data properly and allow an export not just to iCloud but a file it would be great. Text and pics, etc in a zip file maybe or something easy. And also let me log into the PC and 2 of my phones. I can’t have Line on one phone as it always wants to move the data T-T
Siri integration. Hi Line development team! I have been using Line for the past 5 years. It’s been great so far. It would be better if you can integrate the app with siri for iPhone users. I noticed that you have Siri shortcut but it’s not working with me. I have enabled Siri shortcuts, created siri shortcuts, but it just won’t work. If you can fix this issue, that would be great
Latest update. The later up on ios have graphical interface problems. Better check it. Overall not a bad program.
Glitchy since update. I like this messaging app but it’s been much worse since the last update. It misses notifications sometimes. It still says I have unread messages even after I’ve read them sometimes. And the some keyboard flickers every time I open the app. Please fix it!
Great Messaging App. The app is great to use to message friends and family members. They also have numerous stickers in which you can use as well. There are in app purchases but only for stickers and themes for the app. However, one thing I’d like to point out is that you cannot log out of your account, you can only delete the app and the download it again to sign into another account. Overall, I think it is a great app and I use it on a daily basis.
Update with my suggestions!!!. I would like you to make an update where other countries like Australia get the free stickers that other people get AND I would also like you to make an update where you can make another person admin, like skype. And the problem without having that update is that some random a*s people come out of nowhere , join, and then "bomb" chats translation: they kick everybody out of that chat. Just please make these updates... I'm begging you..

Australia can’t do things with LINE. I am in Australia and use to have LINE @ to do the advertising for my business but now can’t use most features of LINE such as LINE Square and LINE pay. so I cannot even by premium ID for my LINE @ business because it forces me to pay through LINE pay which cannot download in Australia. And even cannot login Line official app via LINE app because the version not support. These problem need to be fixed immediately for your sakes
FEW SUGGESTIONS !. I love this app and all, but maybe add a feature where you can see when a person is typing or not. All the other social medias have it so why shouldn't Line , right? Your update made the app worse. Since the last update everytime I go to a chat I have a screen pop up to deal with.. it wants access to my photos and wants me to select which photos I allow Line to access... it pops up everytime I open chat.... HEADACHE... Why do updates and make changes when the app was fine before
LINE points?. This app is sooooo good! There are many different options and it’s has fun little things that make it even more useful and handy. But! How do you get LINE points???? No matter how hard I try, I can’t get any! Line notifications are broken. Got an iPhone 7 Plus, fully up to date iOS and Line version, and with notifications on with both line and my phone (never changed anything then reset all settings when I started having the problem), and now I DO NOT receive any notifications for new messages. I get the in app notifications when I have it open and pulled up, but when it’s in the background or closed, NOTHING. Don’t bother with this until they fix their product. It has been over a month and I don’t see a way to report this bug so who knows when it will be fixed.
Stupid App!. This is the most stupid app I've ever used. I don't understand why I can't use my account to log in on a new phone and why the data on my old phone is deleted after scanning the QR code? All my records are gone. Even if I have a backup, some of them are missing! Who the hell designed this? A design that is against humanity, my important records are gone!

Cant get my old account back. Trash. I lost my old phone and i cannot login to this useless app using my appleid. Whats even worse is that i cannot sign-up using appleid as it says account already exists. I dont have other options to create a new account as it only has the appleid option (no google, no phone number). If only i can give zero stars.
Deleted My Account Without Warning!. My account was deleted by LINE without warning because my old Japanese phone number was still linked to my account, even though LINE wouldn’t let me change it to my Canadian number! I was given absolutely no warning and thought I had been hacked. I had even spent money on stickers and emojis which were deleted as well. I’ve never in my life used an app that would do that. And when I contacted customer service, they acted like this was a totally reasonable thing to do!
Losing quality over time. You can’t delete a “friend”. Deleting old data is a hassle for a specific chat without just deleting the whole chat. They’re slowly removing features for North America. They just discontinued iOS 15 yet discord with full functionality has all these features and supports nearly all old and modern still supported OSs. Line was good 10 years ago, but it hasn’t stood the test of time.

I entered the code sent to my phone number by text message, then I entered my email, and then I entered my password only to come to a screen telling me I need a code from my old phone which I do not have access to anymore to finally log in. Bad APP. If I could give this app a negative stars I will, my line is experiencing issues where my messages can’t be seen by other people, while i can read their chat. So I reinstall the app but when ai try to log in with apple id I got the message saying that “Verification temporary block. Please try again later” I also seen this problem in social media that this is the problem in most people 3 years ago, it’s been 3 years now fix your app!!
I recently changed my phone and phone chip with a new number. When trying to log in, it asks for your old phone number only and when transferring a code, it will only transfer to your old phone number, there is absolutely no other way to retrieve your account. Not by email or new phone number and not by two people on the account to verify by a number. This is the dumbest setup I’ve ever seen. If you verify the whole phone number and add in your new number which can also be verified then that should be sufficient to log you back in instead of deleting the account, I will lose all my emoji I paid money for

Require phone to log in and offer no way to contact support about account transfer. This is very frustrating. I have a very old account and I'm desperaty trying to get on it, I know my passeord and email but it require me to use my old phone with a phone number I don't havr anymore. I have no way to reach any form of support and submitting an inquiry require me to log on my account which REFUSE to let me in unless I verify with the phone number. Impossible for me to even recover my account and LINE make it impossible for me. It's incredibly frustrating because I don't want to change my email to a new account because I then lose everything.
iPad version needs more features!. For the love of god, let me manage my account with only my iPad. I don’t own a smartphone and I can currently only use basic features and I’m constantly reminded to buy a phone. Show the big screen some love!

I downloaded the app because all of my favourite BL series are on here, when I downloaded the app, it said I needed to sign up with a phone number, I have an iPad and I cannot get a phone number on here, you should change the options and add the option of signing up with an email or phone number because some of us don't have phone numbers. I really want to watch my BL's but I can't. Please change the options so some of us can sign up with an email and not a phone number.

The best thing I ever downloaded!. So many people gave this great app a horrible rating, but that was all a year ago. Download line in 2019-and trust me, you won’t regret it. I can’t even get on my old account since I don’t have my old phone and it tells me I need to, otherwise I’ll have to create a new account.... like what kind of trash application does that? Why not either send a verification to my phone number, or email that’s linked with the account? Who thought it’d be a good idea to do this? The worst app in this world. I have my new iPhone and I have my old phone number. But I still need my last device to log out first, then I can log in with new device by using the old phone number. So, if I lose my last device, how can I log out first? Or before I log out, I sold out the old device, how can I get into the new device? Who did this thing without he/she had brains. Unable to login, lost account. Lost all my contacts because Line suddenly decided not to send text messages to specific regions and provides no other way of account recovery. Contacted Line support which provided a useless response.
No avatars. Avatars were recently removed. One of the best features about the app, now gone. It has interesting stuff, but (especially now with no avatars) it's behind the competition.
Hope they go bankrupt. This company has the worst tech support on the planet, I created an account which has to be verified through my Apple ID and it would not finalize my account creation. After re-downloading the app I tried agains where I get a repeated message that my ID is blocked. After contacting Line I was informed I violated their policies without even using their app and my ticket was closed. This is by far one of the worst experiences using any technology; I can only hope that this company goes bankrupt before somebody buys them out; a company this backwards does not deserve to win. If any communication company is interested in buying Line, wait until they’re only their last breathe and save your money.
Support is worse than terrible. I got a new iPad and moved all my apps ... guess which one locked me out ? Yup, line app When I tried to open it on my new device, it asked for a code that I’m supposed to enter into my smartphone version of line ... problem is I do not and have never owned a smartphone. I go back to the old device, thinking I missed a step ... but it tells me I can proceed if I enter the code ... and it will wipe my chat history. Yeah, who knew this one app needed so much prep before you could move it ? None of my other apps are giving me these problems. I contact support and went through the menu ... which doesn’t actually help with my issue. They say they’ll contact me ... I get a message saying their records show I moved the app ... ... so if I need more help, start a new request for help. ? So no help whatsoever and I’m now trying to get support. If I could give less than one star, I would.
Useless support and terrible transfer protocols. By far the most useless support I’ve ever encountered in any app. You attach an email to an account that you can’t recover data from. Support doesn’t read details. If you ever have a phone that doesn’t work and you need to use a new phone, kiss your account goodbye
Less Secure than WeChat. DO NOT USE. Fraud is Rampant. Full of Pornography. Would Rather Use WeChat. The security features of this app are AWFUL. Additionally, the “Voom” feed is just full of sexually explicit videos that young children can access when not in the presence of adults. If you register a phone number, it is impossible to change it or remove it if you leave Taiwan, Japan, Thailand area. Therefore, if someone takes over your phone number in the future, they will have access to all your contacts, and you will be blocked from your own LINE account!!!! And the app customer service refuses to remove your old number if you request it. Therefore, you are left waiting for a future fraudulent user taking over your own accounts with full access to your contacts! This app is less secure than WeChat because LINE monitors your activity. I tried to make a new account and send my old contacts across to it. But then LINE blocked my new account and refused to explain why. At least when the mainland government looks at WeChat activity they allow you to remove and change your number. LINE WATCHES your activity and happily allows other people to ACCESS YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION.I truly believe that Apple should ban this app or impose a rule that the app should be able to allow users to remove their phone number or change it when they move abroad because this feature is an immense fraudulent scam.
Logging in. Biggest issue everyone I buy an new phone such a pain to login. Won’t let me login via email has to be my Thailand phone number which I change 90 different numbers and wants to only send a text to that Thai number which I do not have and won’t work any times

Ads are so annoying recently. I just want to read news on line, but those ads keep pop up, when I try to close the ad, it also closed my news. Those ads are really make me not wanting to read news.
Needs update. Iam tried to reset password in LINE? I linked my password with my mobile number & got the reset password link. After I reset my password in the site, I tried to login via the app but it still displayed “incorrect password” I even tried to contact help support but they only said to make sure there are no mistyped characters or otherwise I need to create a new line account I’ve been trying to reset the password for a day now & now I cant get verification code anymore because of too many attempts & need to wait 24 hours And I don’t want to make a new account

Multi-device support for Line. Line Lite is capable of logging in without the need to logout from my main device. I'd like to see this app capable of the same thing, or a totally separate app, like Line for iPad, for iPhone & iPod Touch.

No LIVE CUSTOMER SUPPORT. I had to transfer my information to a new phone. I opened my line account on the new phone and it said welcome back XYZ. However none of my information was there!!!! I have been trying for days to follow the instructions for help and it is useless!!! I really would like a way to speak to a person to help me out but apparently this is not possible. Finding help for this app is impossible! So be VERY MINDFUL that if you download this app and need to transfer you will not be able to get any support if you have questions about lost information. And why is my information lost? Especially since on the new phone it apparently knows it is me?
Frustrating Customer Service Experience. I encountered issues logging into my account after transferring to a new iPhone, even though I remember my account number and password. Unfortunately, the logging method I used was canceled, and due to living abroad, I had roaming service, but I still face difficulty receiving texts. Adding to the frustration, the company lacks real customer service. The only contact option is a form within the login, and even after creating a new account to reach out, I received repetitive responses that didn't address my concerns. It's disappointing that such a big company doesn't offer accessible customer support, leading me to reconsider future purchases.
Password reset to New Device Disaster. Have attempted numerous times. The password reset process to add a new device and absolute disaster. Appears they cannot debug this correctly. I have carefully changed the password using their process. Would suggest using any communication software other than Line until they figure this simple process out! I’ve now moved to the other device to check it. Seems apple and line know it’s the same phone number but Line blocking SoFi I got on the new device. Suspect they have a really stupid simple MAC address nanny blocker. Go elsewhere! Continues to an absolute F’in Disaster! Cannot imagine how these idiots get ppl to use this piece of crap when a phone is changed. Very circular process of asking for verification, passwords, and the fails to recognize the password newly created on the new device. Just a circular duck up IT stupidity! Untested chit!
The sticker wont work. When I type something the sticker indeed pop out based on the keyword that I typed in. But it will not let me use any of the stickers. I tried to tap it multiple times but it’s still not working, until now. Other than that, the sticker do still work only when I tap it from the sticker menu. I don’t remember since when I encounter this problem but it’s been quite a while—I do remember the problem first occurred when there’s a new LINE updates available. I appreciate it if you can help me with this problem since the sticker feature that I mentioned earlier are handy if I want to use a certain sticker quickly without even opening the sticker menu. Can someone help me?
Great app just one request. I thoroughly have enjoyed my time using this app. It's smooth and the stickers are my favorite. I own over twenty five sets. That said...I have one issue with the app. When the "unsend" feature was made available I thought it was great for those times you say something maybe you shouldn't have to someone. But it notifies them that you Unsent a message. So what is the point of unsending if they'll know you did so, which in turn will make them question and hound you over what you unsent? Please remove the "...unsent a message". It makes it pointless as they question you about what you said then you have to tell them.
All around great app BUT one thing.... This app is fantastic. I can call home while I’m living abroad in Japan for free. I’ve used this app for years as my main source of online communication with family and friends in and out of the country :) BUT I have one problem with it, as of recently. If anyone can shed light on this issue, it would be greatly appreciated. Ever since updating Line about a week ago, I have not been receiving call/missed call notifications.. like a call screen on the lock screen. It’s kinda hard to explain but when I open the app is only when I notice I have a missed call, like hours later! Anybody have the same issue with this or some tips/advice? Thank you!
Privacy concern. This app is suggesting a wide range of friends to me ranging from a bad ex-employee to work acquaintances to people from hobbies I'm connected to only on Facebook. It is possible they extrapolated my connection to them through the degrees of separation, but I'm left with the lingering question of whether they've accessed my Facebook app without my permission. There are people I want no personal connection to outside of work, and this makes it awkward. I feel my privacy has been invaded and I'm creeped out. People can find their own friends. Digging through their contacts and suggesting them is obtrusive and annoying. I do not want companies uploading information from my phone and using it to interfere in who I connect with. Nothing in your terms of service suggests users might be subjected to that.
Terrible system. Had the app for 3 months with no issues, however without any idea why I stopped receiving messages, so I deleted the app and then reinstalled hoping it would solve the issue. Turns out I couldn’t log in anymore. Contacted their customer service and after a few email exchanges they were able to confirmed my account, but I was suspended for violating their term of service but won’t tell me which one nor what I did. And that they could not assist me further. This must be a issue on their end because I have never posted or said anything to violate their safety standards (I was using the this app to talk to a realtor and one friend at work). The issue is I cannot create a different LINE account since it’s tagged to my apple account. And LINE is unwilling to assist me in this issue. Poor marks for identifying myself as a “violator” of their terms and services. Poor marks on their customer service who is unable to solve or work around my issue. Poor marks on their customer service who do not allow me an opportunity to rebuttal their claim. This app is commonly used in my new work place and now I cannot effectively communicate because I was wrongly accused and I cannot generate a new account.
Problem after update. I couldn't type messages right away before on the text messages. I've to go to + button in order to type it. Then when I just update become worst! I can't even open the app! It said like I have to wait for a moment while they install the update and I can't turn off my device, but after I wait...wait...and wait for a long time (few times already), and even after I soft reset my phone, still I get the same message as before and my app can't open even though I still get some notification whenever my friends send message for me. Please fix it. I still love my app and my cute stickers.
If I could give a negative star, I would. I’ve been a user for the last 13+ years and I’ve moved to different countries. I recently lost access to my account because the app version that I have doesn’t support any authentication methods so there’s no way I could have prepared for the transfer. The customer support is terrible. I had to explain the situation that I already included in the first ticket a few times and there’s no solution except to create a new one. Now that I created a new one, I keep getting error message and no one can messages or receives any text from me. This is the absolute worst experience I’ve had with any apps. It seems like the Product team didn’t take a lot of scenarios into account when they decide to launch or deprecate a feature.
Super upset about Line voom closing. My mom and I been using Line since forever to communicate and we'd both post daily if there was an event or parties as such to share with our family in Japan. When Line decided to delete all of our post, all our memories since 2013 (i think around that time) just vanished . Our grandma doesn't use Facebook or anything either so it was such a great way to keep her updated on what we were doing in the US. Now it's just a texting app for us. This update was just a downgrade. I really don't doubt there are people similar with my situation, ill continue using Line but definitely less since there's literally less things to do now.
No auto-backup. LINE is an amazing app. Everything is easy to use, high quality. Recently, I had to delete the app and re-download it due to problems with the app repeatedly crashing (also an annoying bug). When i re-downloaded it, I found that because i hadn’t backed up my data, everything was gone. All my messages. All my pictures and videos. All my stickers, i even had to download my stickers again. It’s so stupid that LINE doesn’t auto-backup straight from opening the app. You have to go into the settings, and setup a horrible auto-backup system. Just because of this and how angered I am, I will take off two stars.
Perfect. I’ve used this app for many years; it’s arguably as good as the iMessage app, if not better mostly for how customizable it is. From buying themes and stickers off the store to even making your own; I love the creative freedom the app has just for what’s on the screen. My one gripe is that once you buy stickers and themes, you can uninstall them from your phone; but you can’t delete them permanently off your account. I personally would want to get rid of stickers I don’t use or get rid of themes I don’t want permanently off my account.
This app is amazing...but. I love the new unsend feature on messages except for one flaw...it sends a notification saying you unsent a message. Why, exactly?! Isn’t the entire point of unsending to not send anything at all?! The notification negates the entire point of the update. If I accidentally send something I want it to leave no trace. This would be incredible if you simply remove that notification. I can’t imagine why it was added in the first place. If you delete a comment or a status on Facebook it doesn’t say “so and so deleted a comment”. That would be ridiculous so why do that here?! Other than that, this is my favorite messaging app. I almost never use iMessage anymore.
Green stuff.... Line is a great app but.. one problem... random green chunks are appearing everywhere, for me and my friend!, I was watching a video the one of my friends sent, but there was a green Block taking 3/4 of the screen!, and my friend and me are chatting on video call, but when he opened his camera, there was a green block (again) but this time it was taking all of the screen!!, and he can see it to! so I’m hoping u are going to fix that, thx. P.S. : and it wasn’t my friend Device that wasn’t working well, it was Line that wasn’t working, even after even after he did a shut down, it still was there...
Amazing!. This is by far the best messaging app I’ve ever used! I haven’t had any difficulty with it on my iPhone 7+ and it makes your messaging experience extremely personalized. You can chose from a variety of stickers and you can even change your theme. There is also a function that lets you lock the app so it requires a password to keep your conversations private. Since I’ve used mainstream messaging apps so far it’s really nice to see so much variety and ways in which I can make this app personal to me. It makes the conversations on here personalized too so you feel like you are closer than just chatting with them other person/s
This app is horrible. The only reason I use this app is because my girlfriend has family and friends in Japan that use it. I am on vacation in Japan right now and trying to communicate with my girlfriend via this app and it is nearly completely ineffective. What is calls work fine, but pictures and texts are not working. We confirmed this by using WhatsApp. I am hopeful that anyone that my girlfriend values decides to use a different app to communicate so I can delete this one as I do not trust it to work at all. Forget about any customer service. it’s hard enough to get someone to even communicate with you via chat. You won’t get someone over the phone. If the app doesn’t work for you, it’s your problem. This app doesn’t work for me and I am hopeful that anyone that is considering alternatives decides not to use this product and chooses a better one.
Used to love it. I loved this app until they started bending to snowflakes and people looking for revenge by reporting the same posts and content that everyone else (including themselves) post. Now I have several friends that are banned and many of them waited past the time Line said they would have to wait and alone has NOT returned their accounts. This app is not even following their own rules and letting reports of anything cause people to lose their accounts. It’s very hypocritical. Looks like we’ll all be moving over to Telegram where we have the freedom to our chats and free, better, stickers as well. Line app has fallen down the same hole as Facebook and has highly disappointed many of its users. Shame on you for your lack of customer service.
Awful App. I made a line account months ago to keep in contact with my study abroad classmates. I NEVER USED THE ACCOUNT between the time I made it and until a week before I was about to leave for my study abroad. I tried to add my classmates as well as my student advisor and it would find their usernames but wouldn’t let me add them. It would give me an error message. I thought it was a glitch so I deleted the app and then redownloaded it. I tried to log in with my Apple ID and it gave me the message “verification temporarily unavailable. Please try again later.” HOW LONG IS LATER??? I went to customer support and they gave me no information aside from me breaking terms of service. How can you break terms of service without even using the app???
Worst customer service ever. The app for iPad is always left on the side. All the bugs are still going on and, the worst of all, if I exit the app by pressing the home screen and/or force quit, it automatically log out of my account. It’s extremely annoying to always do the login, especially if I change to safari to check a webpage (btw, don’t come with an update just fixing one of those mentioned problems, solve BOTH). I sent an email to the company and what i get in return is “If you enter in contact again we will take more time to solve your problem, dear costumer”. In other words “don’t bother us sending more emails cause we don’t care who you are and we don’t mind solving it”. I’ve been a loyal costumers for years on the iPhone app, music app and the physical store, but the company’s costumer service S*CKS and don’t care about the ones who support it. If I could rate this app minus ten stars, I’d gladly do so.
Needs some extra things. Ok, overall, LINE’s a pretty good app. But there’s a couple small things that are really helpful. First, LINE needs an “edit” button. Messages has it and it’s pretty helpful for typos , because having to unsend your messages just to fix a spelling error can be pretty annoying.. Also, I think in Japan, LINE gives out free stickers that later become unavailable to everyone else. But in the US I don’t think it does that. Last thing, on my phone it works normally, but on my iPad, there’s no theme button, so it will always be set to the default black theme, which I don’t want it to.
Bad customer service. I recently got an issue sending message. It seems I can send but no one received. I contacted customer service and this is what I got back. “ We looked into the issue and confirmed that your ability to send messages was suspended due to activity that violated our Terms and Conditions of Use.” First of all, I don’t think I did anything violating the policy because I use only for usual conversation. Secondly, there is no detail and say that there will be no detail provided. Ok loud and clear. “we cannot provide details regarding the basis for what violates our terms of use or which terms were violated.” Thirdly, I feel like the door is shut at my face. No further help will be provided. “ Please understand that we are unable to provide any further assistance related to this matter.“ For a suspension that I do not know what happened and what action I did (or even worse if I didn’t), it is clearly a no willingness to help. Just stay suspended is the solution?! I would definitely move to any other platform if my friends are there too. 1 star is higher than I wanted to give. What if I rely on Line to work??
Great App!… … When I Was Able To Login. Line worked well for me, until until I wasn’t able to receive or send texts anymore. I figured this just had to be an “app update” issue, so I updated the app to then be logged out and unable to log back in, because they want to send you a verification text,(which is nice. Safety first.) BUT the kicker is, the texts never comes through. Nor will a verification call. So… No more Line. 😢 I am living in Japan while I was using Line. It has made it a very difficult process for communication, as I have to tell all my friends on Line to communicate with me on another app. This problem has persisted for a couple of months now and there seems to be very little resource online to help fix the issue.
Best when used in Japan. This app is actually incredible in Japan. Awesome job fast with wifi or mobile. Good for talk video or audio no static crap. It’s not so good for the Apple Watch limited responses but you can use audio to tell Siri. I will admit this app does have its short comings in the US. Using it on a tablet or computer apps just doesn’t work it’s a cellphone app nothing more. But it’s free and fast so in japan if you don’t want to get a cellphone plan just add people on line and use wifi you can’t fail. They also have a cellphone plan which I have for $42 in japan great service and app works the same no difference.
This year’s chat history deleted again.... I want to love Line. But since I started using the app to chat with friends in 2012, it’s always a terrible experience when it comes to managing my account. Including now in 2018! When I got a new phone I tried logging in to line and get a warning that I can’t be logged in to 2 devices and my old device’s chat history would be deleted. I forgot about that limitation, and of course don’t want that to happen so I quit the app and try to figure out how to back up my old app’s history. When I check my old phone it says my account is now in use by another device and proceeds to delete everything before I have the chance to backup my data! So I’ve lost all this year’s chat history for no good reason. How about a daily automatic backup? Or an option to allow multiple devices to save chat history? This is our data!
Urgent Help. Line is the best app I ever used, my line was linked to my facebook , after my phone got spoiled I’m not able to login my Line via Facebook anymore and it’s so frustrating and painful. I tried my email to login yet I can’t login and it keep my email is not link to any Line account. But when I tried to link the same email to another Line account and they said my email is already link to an account. So confusing, I need help. You guys need to bring back Facebook login.
It was my favorite. This has been my favorite and most used messaging app for a few years now. But lately I’ve noticed that it uses up way too much battery, I do an average amount of messaging I would say, and line uses 50% of my battery. I can’t understand why because it seems like a relatively small amount of data and it seems like it shouldn’t be much demand on the phone at all. If I use the LINE app, I’m out of battery in the early evening. When I stop using it I can finish the day with 65% of my battery remaining but almost never less than 45%. so I’ve switched over to other messaging apps that shall remain nameless. I’m hoping for an update that fixes this problem and I can come back to it.
Beware. App delete all activity upon logout. Beware. All activity and chats are not backed up and will be lost if you log out. One must to go into settings and tell the program to back up the chats so if you ever log out or migrate to a new phone you don’t lose everything in the app. No where does it say this and you don’t realize what is happened until you log into your new phone, which logged you out of the old phone and deletes everything you have. no other communication or social app acts this way they automatically bring your information along to whatever machine you log into. Line, erases everything once you log out. Horrible, design flaw. I just lost a years worth of traveling around the Far East and lost everything. Plus, there’s no way to contact line to get customer support for this issue.
Black theme. First of all, I have been using LINE for YEARS now, and I love it. It’s wonderful for communicating with people from across the world! You can have group chats with over 50 people in it! And calls that include so many people as well! That’s why I gave y’all 5 stars! Now, I have a bit of a request from the LINE team.... I have bought a theme that I enjoy, (Winnie The Pooh, in case you were wondering) but lately I changed it to the default black theme because I have many migraines coming on. I have come to request that the LINE team update the default black theme so that EVERYTHING has a black background when using it: The timeline, searching, in the theme store, etc. Because of my migraines I have a sore head a lot, and seeing the bright white makes it a lot worse. I have to be on LINE a lot though, so I’d REALLY appreciate this implementation!!! Thank you so much for your time Most sincerest regards, Tara 💙
Dont. I used this app a few years back to play and connect with online friends, today im trying to log back in and for some reason my email appears to be unlinked (i have the confirmation email still that it was linked) i tried contacting customer service cause i also changed phone numbers during the years and no longer have access to my old devices to try and change it from there. Customer services only replied with "we cannot help for security reasons try opening a new account" um no. I lost all data and in app purchases. So, if you changed phone numbers and get unliked from your emails, u lost ur account forever. Thanks for wasting my time and putting my personal data in danger and with this review saving yours
Constant large updates is beyond annoying. I only use Line to keep in touch with family overseas. If not for that, I would gladly delete the app. The developers keep rolling out updates, not necessarily to fix bugs or improve the user experience, but to add crap like stickers and other commercial products. The updates are often in the 125+mb range, even as today’s update exceeded 200mb! As an adult, I don’t give a flying fart about stickers or any of the other crap in Line other than the capability of communicating instantaneously with others. As such, I have no need nor desire to waste my allotted monthly data allowance on crap I neither need nor want. Unless you absolutely need Line for some reason, do yourself a favor and give a hard pass on this app.
No way to use the app or log in or create a new account. Hello I just got upgraded to a new phone and put my Apple ID and registered my email to my old line account before I got a new phone and traded in my old phone. I also got a new phone number and my old account was the phone number kind. The issue is that there is no way for me to log into line without my old phone now. Putting in other log in methods was for nothing apparently because I still need my old phone number for both email and Apple ID. Not to mention, I can’t even make a new account because it only gives me the option of using my Apple ID to sign up but since it’s registered under my old account I can’t make a new account with it. I went as far as making a new Apple ID but the app doesn’t give me the option to create an account with a different Apple ID. And another issue is that the customer support AI bot just opens the app and I can’t chat with it. I can’t find a customer support email ANYWHERE online or on their website. I am leaving to Japan in a couple hours and this is my only way to communicate with my parents aside from actual emails. This is so inconvenient and scary and I just desperately want to be able to use line.
Amazing app!! Please update for iPhone X!!. Line is absolutely incredible. I’m someone who literally HATES texting, but, Line makes it fun what with all their stickers available. The various options for chats and even private messages are awesome. Line will always top any other messaging service, even the stock iMessage. The only complaint I have is a slightly petty one, please, please, please, update for the new iPhone X screen. It’s so annoying to have the top and bottom cut off. Other than that, this app is perfect. Don’t listen to these other dumb reviews that give it one or two stars for a single flaw that’s just a petty annoyance.
Sticker suggestion not working. Line app is convenient allowing me to connect with my friends and family. It has many sticker options to use (used to have more free ones but now more just in-app purchase). Been having many issues with sticker suggestion not working throughout the whole time I’m using the app. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn’t, making it kinda annoying... Now after multiple updates it just still isn’t working at all no matter what I do (turning digestion on and off, restart app, deleting the language and redownloading) ... I have hundreds of stickers and it’s impossible to search through them one by one when I’m chatting ... huge disappointment
Horrible Support. This is a great and fun communication app, especially if you have friends in Japan, where it is widely used. However, the customer support is atrocious. I’ve had an issue with LINE on my iPad for mo this. That is, every time I open the app first thing in the morning, it asks for my account credentials. Every day I have to re-enter my user name and password. I’ve submitted the issue to tech support, but I’m convinced a human being never sees any of my submissions. I constantly get the same canned response, none of which solves the problem. Also, the response emails come from a “do not reply” email address so you cannot carry on a “conversation“ with their support. You have to constantly restart a new submission. It is impossible to get personalized help. I’ve given up on getting my issue but I’m forced to use the app because I have so many contacts in Japan who use the app.
Can not do anything with this app. I have this app a one star only because I can’t do anything with the app. After signing up and creating an account I was unable to do anything and could not connect with anyone. So I sent an inquiry to the developer and got what I believe was an automated response stating I had violated their guidelines. How in the word could I have violated anything, since the only this I could do was create an account. I live in the United States and I am on the latest version of iOS. Not sure if where I live has anything to do with it since it’s supposed to be a world wide app. Deleted the account and app then reinstalled and tried to set up another account and a pop up says temporarily blocked. This is beyond frustrating and dare I say offensive stating I broke a guideline since I could do anything in the first place.
Security too restrictive, option to disable 2 step verification. All these apps so obsessive with security that now I’m locked out of the app while I am overseas and no access to my phone number. And since Japan prohibits travelers from having phone numbers, Ive essentially lost contact with 90% of my friends in the country just like that. This is ridiculous. This is literally compromising user experience at the expense of “staying secured,” so now I’m locked out of any contacts until I return home. The idiocy of this is beyond unbelievable and there needs to be an option going forward to A) option to log in via email and B) option to remove 2 step verification.
Verification issue. I recently switched to a new device and have been trying to verify my phone number for days, but I keep getting the same error message saying my verification is blocked and to try again in 60 minutes. Even after waiting days and trying again after a week, nothing changes. It feels like my account might have been lost or deleted. Getting support has been a nightmare. All I received was a generic reply telling me to try again later. No real assistance, no resolution—just a waste of time. I understand there’s a limit on verification attempts, but the complete lack of support or any meaningful help is incredibly frustrating. At this point, I’m seriously considering switching to Viber or WhatsApp. I hope the developers fix these issues soon, but for now, I can’t recommend this app.
Worldwide Communication. First of all I love this app and it’s fun to be on. But the problem is that I want it to be more like Snapchat and Instagram so I can search up a letter like J or A or T or whatever and not just get the people who are already on my friends list but people from everywhere, all around the world! I want to be able to talk to everybody. And it should also say where they’re from whether it’s the U.S. Europe, Asia or anywhere else, other than that this is a great app and I hope you guys take into consideration my report bye!
The notification system is not working 😢. I use this to talk to all my friends but ever since the update happened i haven’t been able to receive any notifications from anyone in the app. I have to open it like if my notifications were off or snoozed, but i checked my notifications inside the system settings and as well inside line app and everything is activated even the users are all notifications on. I think its a bug ever since i updated the app today. Can you guys fix it please? Thank you so much!
Latest Update Ruined the App. Loved the app for years until the latest update. You used to be able to send voice messages via holding down a large button in the bottom middle of the screen. On the latest update, some genius decided the button should be much smaller and off to the right side. If you're right handed like most of the planet, forget trying to use the app for voice messaging. You will either: A) Have your thumb slip off the button from having to hold it in an awkward position. B) Drop your phone from having to hold it in an awkward position. C) Give up and use two hands which defeats the purpose of voice messaging to begin with. Fix your app and fire the genius who obviously didn't think this through. Why screw up a perfectly fine working app? Obviously some people are trying to justify having a job by "fixing" things that didn't need to be fixed.
Horrible for Business. I use many messaging apps to conduct business. Line is by far, the most annoying messaging app that I have to use. It constantly sends me push notifications that cannot be disabled. They do not correspond to anyone sending me any kind of message. Instead, I constantly get push notifications from the line team and when my contacts join line. I need to keep notifications on so that I may respond 24/7 to international clients and it makes it really hard when line constantly spams me with useless motivations. The interface is way too complicated for what a messaging app should be. If I didn’t need it for Japanese clients it would be deleted instantly. Do not use.
worst… app… ever…. I live in a place that for some inexplicable reason uses Line as their go-to messaging app, and as such I almost feel forced to use it to participate in society. I can’t find one redeeming quality of this app, or one thing it does remotely better than any other social messaging app that could have been chosen instead. I am left simply asking, “WHY?” From layout to functionality, to default privacy settings that leave you exposed to all sorts of SPAM, I have to say that this has probably been the worst app experience I have has since buying an iPhone 4 when they came out. Line, get your act together. Some of us don’t use your app by choice and shouldn’t have to suffer from your incompetence. Who is even in charge?
not able to change region freely. Not being able to change the region freely is a HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT I need the OPENCHAT feature really badly but since i downloaded this app while in the US i’m not able to use that feature and i can’t even change my phone number with a different country, what kind of nonsense is this? when i tried to redownload this app, it says i might lose all my chats and contacts on this account?? i need to use OPENCHAT feature right away please do put it on the US LINE version please since years ago everytime when one needs to change their phones they might lose all the data on this account. this app is just so inconvenient please do fix these small things it’s so difficult to use and everyone knows this
BEWARE! ~ Lost 3 years of chat history.. Line has a new encryption feature that prevents you from using the same account on two devices. I was running parallel on my iPad and iPhone for the last year, but I upgraded the iPad. After I upgraded the iPad I logged back in with the new device. When I logged in on the iPad it gave me a warning on my phone that I would no longer have access to my data. I tried to stop it, but it was too late. Non-reversible! It disabled Line on my phone and wiped my entire chat history. Not recoverable. I can’t believe that the developers would add a feature like this and so carelessly allow people to lose their data! And if you look at the help FAQS in Line it looks like it happens quite often - there is a whole section on how your data can NEVER BE RECOVERED!!! BEWARE - BEWARE -BEWARE
Why are login methods across countries different?. I’ve been trying in vain with support to get back my account back since the first week of February. Had no clue they were ending Facebook login. Got a new phone and had no clue I was going to get locked out of my account because of no phone number/Google/Apple account attached. Support has been absolutely useless and haven’t reached out since last month. For whatever reason, though, I can log in with my Line credentials to a few other websites where normal email and password login work, such as Mysound. Thanks for a whole lot of nothing, Line. All my stickers and layouts are just sitting in the void while I have hundreds of notifications I can’t even read.

I recommend line for texting everything is super cute and it’s easy to keep up with friends the only problem me and some of my friends have been having is that our shops don’t work anymore we try and buy stickers and it just shows us a white screen this makes me a bit sad cause my favorite feature to use on line is to buy the little stickers but I’m not sure why all of a sudden it won’t let us other then that I 100% recommend and if your shop is working unlike mine and my friends please enjoy the cute stickers the app has to offer!!
The Most Stable and Useful Version in Years. For the first time in 6 odd years, all of my versions of line—mobile, tablet, and desktop— are functional. Slowly but surely, the tablet version is getting more features, most recently, the ability to secure the app and authenticate it biometrically. It’s awesome! The auto-play feature for gifs as well as sticker suggestions are available and functional on all my devices. Even the camera is starting to make sense, a miracle in and of itself. However, because this is line, there’s always a trade off. I’ve had several crashes on my desktop recently and experience camera issues when I’m making video calls. Once again, scaling on Xr has gone wonky. But only in the timeline amazingly enough. If the dev could somehow get us to a unified version of line where the experience is virtually the same (within reason) everywhere, I think many of us would be thrilled to say the least. What's wrong with the app people???🐣. People at least give it a chance you never know if they will turn it back again just be peaceful no need to give bad reviews or complain like just be peace🐬 some times they just want to make it better you never know just like a mystery for ever by the way I use this app for two years already and pretty much enjoyed it and yeah I think I'm done with this review so hopefully you guys get the app a chance and like you never know people just be calm and peaceful just like me so just give it a chance bye!!!!!!🦋
LINE accounts. There should be an option where line users who deleted their LINE accounts and bought stickers and themes, etc. Should get their deleted LINE account restored because of all of those stickers and themes we spent on, would be sad :/ Or just restore the line accounts that been deleted and keep the friends we have there including things we bought. I think that‘d be good cause sometimes users just accidentally deleted their accounts and now they can‘t get it back. I‘d really like that if they have an option or at least email LINE developers about it.
