Great for 3year old beginner. Grandson loves to “play” this. Helps with letter and word recognition as he traces. Made lists with variations of his name and one with all family names. He loves learning to spell and “write” their names too. Can see a perfect transition from playing on iPad to writing on paper as we practice. Thanks for the app.

Years of use and it’s still lovely !. Got this a long time ago. Many children have used it on my iPad at school. Even older children find it entertaining and they now added some new shapes !!!

Absolutely LOVE it!!!. This app is great, not only for working on handwriting, but also for letter recognition- upper and lower case, letter sounds, number recognition, and learning to write short words. It is also a ton of fun! Your child or student will not want to put it down! There are many options for customization that make it work for children who are at the beginning of handwriting, or those who need to practice. Teachers will like the ability to add unlimited users and the detailed data tracking. The app has built in visual rewards for tracing, which are very sensory that may appeal to those with Autism. This has been the case for my son in other apps by this developer. All external links are locked, and there are no ads. I highly recommend this app!

Fantastic. My four year old became interested in learning how to write letters at the beginning of the school year, with the expectation at preschool to write his name to sign in each day. He is very resistant to instruction from us on how to form letters, but he loves working with this app. I love how customizable it is, with user-defined word lists, different fonts (currently Zaner-Bloser, D'Nealian, and Handwriting Without Tears), and the ability to finely tweak different aspects of difficulty. I also like how I can see what my son has been doing with it. I contacted the author to ask whether he would consider adding Getty-Dubay Italic style to the program, and he is considering it for the next revision! He is incredibly responsive and nice. What a great set of apps he's made - I think we have all of the English-language ones now except for the cursive one.

Great app!. This app is so fun for younger kids! I downloaded the app for my 5-year-old sister one day while I was babysitting and she loved everything about it! She especially enjoys the little games after she traces something. This app not only teaches children how to write, but also how to write numbers and draw simple pictures and symbols. Best writing app we have tried so far!

Great learning to write App. I have had this app for about 5 years and it is still working great. I like that I can customize based on each of my kids different level. Also, even better with works with the IPad Pro series, which for us is an added bonus as now our kids get the chance to use a pencil while writing. The fact that they constantly upgrade the app to allow it to be able to be used on various Ipad series says a lot about the company and their customer service. As a teacher and a home educator, I highly recommend this App for children learning to write or even if they just need practice.

Great occupational therapy tool. My kindergarten son struggles not only with gripping a writing utensil but also with forming letters with the correct strokes. I purchased a Stylus pen for him to use with this app so he can work on the correct way to hold a utensil as he practices. The app shows the correct strokes to write a letter and won't let the user complete the letter until they use the proper stroke. I LOVE the feature off adding your own word lists. I've used this to add his sight words. Best of all, it's fun with the different pictures used as the child writes. My son never complains when it's time to practice....that's worth the cost of the app right there! My four year old is using it now too because he sees how fun it is.

Fabulous,. This is an amazingly incredible app for beginning writers and early elementary kids! Upper and lower case letters, numbers and word lists are introduced - using either fun animated stickers or colored pens. The visuals are engaging, but not over stimulating, keeping kids on task. What I like about this app is that the letter is the focus, and the animations highlight learning on so many levels - both to insure retention and mastery of the sub skills needed to gain competence. The ability to customize and use this app with many users, and the ability to view each individual users actually strokes and progress is state of the art. The customizations alone help to support success in graded measures, and it is very impressive how much thought and heart went into this app. I would highly recommend this app to both families whose child is struggling with handwriting, and clinicians/teachers. There are no in app purchases, and links to other apps by this developer are under a secured button.

Fantastic!. I am a speech-language pathologist specializing in teaching children with dyslexia and dysgraphia. All my clients love this app and are highly motivated, from my young elementary kids to middle school kids. It works even better when I added the TacScreen bumpy screen for touch screen products, e.g. iPad, iPod, Kindle, etc. The word list feature is great for helping kids practice their spelling words and for learning new spelling concepts. I just found the worksheets feature and use it to send homework home for extra practice. Thank you for making such an all-purpose app! My only suggestion is adding a sentence list similar to the word list feature so my kids can practice their writing in sentences. Excellent product!

I hate the new star feature. The app is fantastic except for the new star feature. Children do not like writing the same thing over and over. I wish I could delete that feature. Other than that it is perfect.

So frustrating for my five yr old and even myself!. Most ridiculous app! Even on the easy setting no one can apparently write an A. It stops part way and can not get it to finish tracing no matter what settings it is on. I wasted an hour of my day, 4.99, and have to look for another app.

Excellent app for children. My son loves this app and it’s a good practice for him. I recently discovered that I can add my own words, so I add the ones he is learning at school. We also enjoy the drawing section. It is super fun to learn how to draw basic animal faces, house, etc.

Well designed!. This app is a favorite of mine wherever I go and meet young children. In my classroom it is adaptable for every learner from those needing to identify letters and sounds to those needing to write their names to those reading and writing sight words. It is Individualized with CORRECT practice!

Excellent, flexible handwriting app. Both my pre-K and 1st grader enjoy using this app. I've even caught my 3rd grader watching over their shoulder! As a parent of four children, I love the flexibility. I can control the level of difficulty and the different parameters, customizing to each child's level of learning. My 1st grader can already write her letters well, but the word writing practice is perfect for both handwriting (spacing between letters when in a word) and spelling/reading of simple words. Unexpected bonus! Also, the ability to track each kid's progress is a welcome feature. Thanks for such a great app! UPDATE: I emailed the developer a question and received a reply in less than an hour. Awesome response time! The flexibility of this app is phenomenal compared to most kids' educational apps. I have used it for my 3 year old (learning her letters), my first grader (fine tuning handwriting), and even my third grader (practice writing spelling words)! Best of all, they LOVE using it!

High Marks! Well Done!. Writing Wizard - Kids Learn to Write Letters is wonderful! It offers various customizations which will make parents and teachers beyond thrilled! And I truly believe kiddos will have fun whilst practicing an important and necessary skill. I think it offers a great variety of writing tools and will utilize fine motor skills, letter identification, dolce word identification, number identification, and hand eye coordination. I love the ability to customize word lists and track students. I also love the animations and fun way in which tracings occur. I think the app is nicely done and is certainly worth having on hand for students who are newly learning or need additional practice with this skill. I would love to see the addition of a cursive writing font and perhaps a way for students to earn additional writing implements like: ketchup, chalk, rainbow markers, shaving cream, pudding, etc. I think this would offer incentive for those students who may struggle with handwriting and will be using this app longer term.

Love it!. My kids 4 & 6 both use this, my youngest to learn her letters and how to form them and my oldest for spelling practice. Love that it allows me to creat my own lists and record the words! Great app, super flexible with lots of settings. We also have the cursive one which is also great. We’ve only had these a couple days but we are very happy so far. Kids enjoy using it and I love that they don’t complain about practicing letters and spelling.

Great writing app!. I love all the different parameters you can create to suit the needs of the children/students that you are working with. I love, love, love that you can add your own word lists. I’m an OT who works with students of a variety of levels and this app will suit so many of them. I have just 2 suggestions that would make it just a bit better for me. When you trace the letters they are overlaid with pictures, but I think my students would be hard pressed to identify those pictures. If there was a single picture off to the side and if the “voice” labeled the picture that would be great. Second, when you make worksheets it would be nice to have an option to trace a yellow highlighted line rather than a dotted line. Thank you for making this. I love it.

Best app for toddlers. They did an excellent job creating this app. It has so many cool features like you can create your own word list. Stylus support. Also you can printout worksheets. My 3 year old daughter simply loves this.

Amazing!. My son is basically teaching himself to read with this app. He is on spectrum and considered non verbal but this app is acting almost like an AAC for us! Thank you so much for this app—I wish there was a free page though where we could almost use it like a blank piece of paper-he uses a cheap etcha sketch sorta thing but if it were built up in that would be amazing. I would love to help with this I absolutely love this app!!! I am not one to rave about anything and I am thrilled!

Perfect for my Toddler and Kindergarten kids. I am loving this app! Being able to create different users and customize words lists is exactly what I needed for my kindergarten kids. I love that they can record themselves saying the word and hear it every time they are prompted to write the word. My toddler especially loves all the different shapes that get used while tracing the letters, words, shapes, etc.

Fine but can't access Parental Controls. We like the writing features of the app, but I can't access the Parental Controls. It asks us to enter the sum of two numbers, but after doing so, nothing happens. There is no enter button, only cancel, erase and numeric characters.

Great app. This is a great app to help pre-k and kindergarten aged children to learn writing letters, numbers and also to assist in teaching them to read as each word includes a voice recording. You can even create your own rod lists and record your children saying each word to more personalize the app. The worksheet option is great because it is a way to continue practicing once the app (device) is put down. I initially had problem importing/exporting word lists between two devices, I contacted the developer and he was kind enough to help me figure out why it wasn't working and now with the latest update, email sharing works.

Absolutely fantastic!. Wow, what a magnificant writing app! It goes from simple tracing of lines and shapes through to words and has let my daughter learn at her own pace. The rewards are motivating enough but don't detract from the activity. I'd highly recommend it for anyone teaching a child to write. We love it!

Great app. Gorgeous graphics, sounds not too annoying, my child likes it. Only reason I didn't give 5 stars was that the 'hand' that draws the letter goes a bit too fast for young eyes, slowed down a fraction would be of great benefit to them.

Great educational app. We were recommended this app by my sons teacher as they use it in the classroom. It is both fun and interactive, an app my child asks to play on time and time again. A great app and one I would fully recommend to others.

Best on the market. I've tried most with my children and this is by far a superior teaching app. It's fun and engaging whilst allowing you to personalise it to your child's needs. Being able to add your own word lists and print off worksheets for handwriting is where this app far exceeds all else. Thank you to the creator for putting our children first! A lovely app that we are now fighting over.. I downloaded 2 other action type games that my daughter asked for but this app is the one we both want to play. Simple but addictive. I hear giggles with each new "stamp". Love that she can't see the full effects until she completes the letter or word. Loved that I was able to enter our own choice of words, in this case her name.

Five stars!. This app is wonderful, interactive enough without going over the top. My four year old loves learning the words then finding them in the bedtime stories. I love the way that they get rewarded for doing the right thing and get encourages to keep going, there isn't any negative reinforcement like there are in some apps. Well done!

Disappointed. The app is good my daughter she’s autistic and having this app has help her to write but my only issued is . I’ve had to order the app twice meaning I’ve paid twice. I order it first money went out only to go on the app and didn’t unlock anything.

This app lets you choose your own names then record you saying them, this way when my daughter picks a name to practice it says the name to her which is great!!! No adds or annoying pop ups. Going to put this on my 2 year olds iPad and see how she goes. Great $6.50 spent (and I hate spending money on apps)

So impressed!!!. I love everything about this app and will definitely recommend! I love that we can create our own lists and worksheets. The ONLY thing that may need to get fixed is the character length we can use. My son has a hyphenated name and unfortunately, although it lets me type it all in, it won't show entirely in the activities or worksheets.....

This app is great!. I love this app! This is going to be my go to app that I use with kids who are learning how to form letters, develop motor control and write words. It is fun and engaging but most importantly, it has great features that can be adjusted to the user's level. Letter size, line width, tracing speed, use of a model and allowing stops are a few of the features that can be modified to make the activity easier or more challenging for your child. This app allows for multi users and provides records of tracings that allow you to monitor progress. You can watch how your child formed the letters and then you can email a copy as well. No ads, IAPs and all settings can be locked. Just love this app!

Go to app. This app is great, my students all choose to play with this app. They love the tracing, the colours, moving the sparkles/tiger heads/etc around on the screen.

Excellent Design. My 27 month boy loves this already. He is especially interested in words he uses alot so we just make a custom list and have his voice recording it. There is no better way toward word association. After 10 minutes of picking and writing words by himself, he was able to point out words that we asked him to find. He has't really done that before!

Such a great tool. I love this app and used it for my kids before and during kindergarten. I contacted them asking about a left handed mode, and several years later they emailed me that they had added that to their app! I was so impressed! Wonderful!!. This is a fantastic app, and my son adores it and it can keep him happily occupied for the majority of a plane ride, and he loves playing with it at home, too. It teaches writing skills very solidly — I’ve watched my three-year-old progress from unrecognizable squiggles to readable letter forms on paper since he started playing with this app a few months ago. And the newly-added left-handed support (for little lefties like mine!) will help make it even easier for him to master writing! Strongly recommended.

Excellent App for Preschool Special Education. This handwriting app is unique in that the child does not need to make the whole stroke, even if they get halfway down the first line it will not erase what they wrote, it will prompt them to continue. You may put a child's name in and the app will generate evaluations showing how they wrote each letter. You can add their name to practice. This will be great to show progress to parents. What a great app for those trying to teach children to write. Spelling words can be put into the app. So much more than I thought it would be. Great job!!!!

No more tears. My kids hate to sit down and stare at blank paper with a pencil to exercise their hands on how to trace letters, nowadays how can I compete against the colorful and noisy screen of TV or computer. Thank you for this engaged app perfect for their hands and brains, it's colorful, musical, relaxing and cute.

Fun while they learn. My 4.5 yr old twins love this. The bright colors and after-tracing graphics fun keeps them going back for more. They are learning to spell and are so proud of themselves. They like to hear their voice speak in their personalized word lists. This is excellent and a great investment!

A true gem!. This app is amazing not only for proper writing of letters but for beginning reading and spelling. The record your own words as well as making your own list is truly what sets this app apart.

The Best. This is a must have. Highly polished in every way. The only thing missing is the ability to export/share word lists to nearby devices. If the devs add this feature, the App Store will need to add an option for 6 stars.

Great app!. Great app! My child uses it to study spelling words and work on handwriting at the same time. The kids love the graphics and actually ASK to practice spelling words. The teacher is willing to allow this to be used and counted for homework since reports in the child's handwriting can be emailed directly to her. For children who have difficulty writing, this makes it fun instead of stressful.

Please correct your letter forms. As an early childhood regular/special education teacher, I am always frustrated when educational programs don't do their research. In zaner/blose handwriting, the lower case "t" starts halfway between the midline and the center line. If we are going to use this app to teach our children to write their letters, it would be best to teach them proper form.

Awesome App!. So glad I didn't waste my time or money with HWT app. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Handwriting Without Tears, but as a pediatric Occupational Therapist working in the schools, it became rather boring for them. This app is entertaining and you can choose from HWT, Zaner Bloser or D'Nealian (which I ABSOLUTELY HATE! lol). Plus, I LOVE LOVE LOVE the reports!! Brilliant! Thanks so much & keep it coming! :)

A very ok app. I really think this app is ok! My 31month old boy loves the animation. It could be less patronizing though.... I'd prefer for it to go back to 'start' point on a character when my son's grip loosens while trying to trace a number or an alphabet. That way he'll get to learn to maintain enough pressure from start to finish.

Fun Tracing. Love this app with the tracing mode. As it suggests, using a stylus with toddlers and older since children will eventually use pencils or other writing instruments. Love the five star offering where it can be individualized Also adding your own words like your child's names is fun and easy!!

BEST letter tracing app out there!!!. This is a free amazing app. Your child is able to practice ALL letters and numbers. Most apps will only give you for example only letters A-C and then make you buy the whole app to continue with the rest of the letters... Finally a great app I don't have to spend money on for it to be great. Parent and child approved!

Less is more. It seemed like a good app at first, and I bought it after reading positive reviews. I observed many children playing with the app, and decided to stop using it in the class. The app offers many options, but they don't work out very well. I see that the children are spending quite some time playing with all the “objects” flying around, but their handwriting does not improve. I also resent the bad design. Now I’m using different high quality apps with much beter results for a little more money. It's certainly worth it!

Solid handwriting app. Writing wizard is a solid handwriting app. Each time you trace a letter it gives you different materials or designs that come up instead of just a plain line. It gives you the option to chose what handwriting style you want for example, handwriting without tears or zaner bloser. The absolute best part of this program is that it keeps data for each user. This is very critical in a school based or therapeutic program. Great for ots for keeping data. There are other apps that are more entertaining, but for data collecting this is the best I have seen

Colorful and cheerful app. This application is so colorful and fun to play with I can barely stop using it myself. Very helpful for a child to stay focused on practicing his writing. It gives opportunity to learn not only how to write letters but also many words. This way your child is getting better at spelling as well. Wonderful application, I recommend this to everyone.

This kindergarten teacher loves this app.. I love this app. I can put all my students names, sight words, numbers...anything I want them to work on! The students and I can put our voices to the words we use, as well. That's amazing! Then on top of that, the letters and numbers must be made in the correct way; a teachers dream. Students can not write backwards to make their letters or numbers. We can use our new crayon stylus for this app too.

Parental controls are exceptional. The thing that I liked best about this app is the amount of data that is collected to see how your child is progressing. I also like that almost all the features have the ability to be modified to your own preferences. I just created a word list with family members names. This will make it more relevant and engaging for my son.

Love this writing app. Great app to show and practice writing. The skills can be updated as the child gets better at writing. Love the option of adding words for practice. Not for left handers. Being a lefty myself it was very frustrating seeing the start arrow on the side for right handers vs. left handers and there was no option to change to for left handers. There was also no alternative way to make the letters. The way it showed how to make the E was very different then the way I was taught.

Amazing App!!. This is absolutely the BEST app for multi-sensory learning! My students of all ages are completely enthralled.....which makes the time limit feature invaluable! Students record their own words as they learn them and can then replay their writing to see what they need to improve. As a special educator, I 100% recommend this app!

Best writing app EVER!. Job well done! This app is well designed. It uses correct formation in teaching the letters. You can choose from the top 3writing styles. There is visual and auditory feedback. The customization for multiple users is awesome! I have the ability to make custom word lists, set individual parameters on accuracy, etc...the list goes on! And giving me the data collection and work samples that I can email, print, and file is remarkable!!! This app is a must have!!!

Love this! It's perfect for site words!. My granddaughter is just starting Kindergarten and needs to learn 75 site words by the end of the year. This app allowed me to type them in and now she not only knows the first 10 but can also spell them! She loves it! And she gets to hear her Grandmas voice too! ;)

Great app for little fingers!. I love this! This is helping my children refine their writing abilities while having fun! I love being able to choose my own script and make my own word bank with recordings so my children can see their name, and family names, while hearing them pronounced properly. Well done!

Love!. L'Escapadou apps are always a hit here and this is no exception. It's fun, pleasant to listen to and the custom options are wonderful. I especially love being able to create my own word lists.

Love it!!. Really challenges my daughter but still fun enough for her to stay interested. Definitely worth it and glad she is learning letters, words, shapes and more!

My one year old loves it!. Wow! Who knew my toddler could write letters?! She loves it. We started with the simple figures (e.g. 1, A, 6) and she can't get enough. She even saw the A-frame swing set structure at the playground and called it "A"! I love being able to watch her progress with the tracking feature.

Great App. My daughter really likes this app, especially the bright graphics, and I like that it's helping her learn her letters. My one suggestion would be if the graphics could be matched to the letter being traced. For instance, instead of having tigers for the letter P, tigers could be used to trace the letter T, further reinforcing the letter.

Fun and engaging!. This writing app allows the parent to set the level of difficulty. Provides suggestions to transition the child from using a finger to a stylus. A great prewriting app that leads to writing your own words or Child's name. Fun.

Much improved. This app is great as support for teaching handwriting. I love the left hand setting, the worksheets, and the Word Lists. This app is now flexible enough to span several years of school. I appreciate the tracking and the multi user set up. The animations are very entertaining, but thank you for giving me the options to use them when I want. I love the five star mode. Keep up the good work! I like the suggestion to use a stylus and the difficulty settings. This app has my children looking forward to learning cursive.

Love it!. This app is great, easy to use. You can add child's name or other vocabulary words. There are also settings that you can set for individual child.

Great for practice writing. As a pediatric occupational therapist, I use this for prewriting and beginning letters. Offers different writing styles, manuscript & cursive, adding names and words. Students ask to play on it as a reward.

Crashes. This app keeps crashing on my phone. It just goes dark. The only way to move to something else is turn the phone completely off. Had to do it every time I went into the settings. Otherwise I really like the app, what I could see of it.

Excellent tool. My daughter does not get tired of playing with this app and I am looking forward to seeing her writing skills improve thanks to this. Also, I had a feature that was not working properly and emailed them for support.. I got a response within a couple hours as to how to fix it. I am impressed!

Awesome writing app!. My 4 year old had zero interest in tracing or writing of any kind until this app came along. He can now trace all the letters and a myriad of shapes with ease! He has also learned how to spell all the names of the people he loves + his favorite things with the custom word lists. This app makes it fun, and I can't thank Pierre enough for creating such a wonderful app that literally changed our lives.

Incredible app. As a retired teacher, who taught Kindergarten and Pre-school for 14 years, I really love this program! I have a 3 year old granddaughter that has enjoyed this app and is learning to write her name, friends names and 3 letter words. It is so hard to find a really good program for children- this is one of the best!

Incredible!!!. I absolutely love this app!!! You can customize word lists for students! They can record the words using their own voices!! Very, very motivating app for those kids who need lots of repetition to learn sight words!! My kids keep rewriting their words as they want to see what the new tracing colors will be used each time! Always a different pattern and lots of interaction!!! Can't say enough great things about what the folks at L'Escapadou have done!! All of their apps have been top notch, but this is my favorite by far!!!

Very impressive. I am a special educator working with K-2 students with a variety of learning styles. My students beg to practice handwriting on this app. I have saved spelling lists for my students to practice too. Thanks for the resource. I love that we can view history/ progress and email students' reports to myself and parents.

Great handwring app. Tried a couple of other good writing apps but Writing Wizard stands out! Step-by-step handwring skills development, engaging entertaining features (I love these magnetic elements so much!) to keep kids engaged during the learning process and plenty of useful settings for parents! And what's the most important thing is that kids love this app and play with it again and again.

Great app. My child has already learned to write her name however starts some letters at the bottom. This app reinforces the correct way to write but is not as frustrating as others. I love the customization allowing you to write in your own words or names! She loves the app too! The animations and the fact that you can record the words are very rewarding to keep her motivated in learning.

Excellent app for phonics and writing. This app does it all: it teaches my daughter the proper way to write lower case and upper case letters, numbers, and it teaches letter sounds. She can also practice writing words. I would also recommend the other apps offered by this developer. In addition to Writing Wizard, I use Word Wizzard and Montessori Cross-words. All are excellent apps for children to use to learn to read.

Love this app. I use this with my PreK students to help them learn the proper way to write their letters. Love the fact that I can customize the word lists for each child to learn their own name. Great App for both parents and teachers.

great app...but... I truly love this app especially for kids who hate practicing handwriting. The recent update with the prewriting shapes does not work on my iPad with the OS 7 system, but it does work on my iPod without the OS 7 system. Hopefully a fix is coming soon?

Love it. This is a great app for helping kids learn to write. I LOVE that it tells the child when they left the line. I would like to see some things added to make it 5 stars. First, I would like to be able assign kids that log into the app. Second, I would like a parent report card option. Third, I would like to be able to write words as well as letters. This is a great start to the app though.

Awesome!. I am a special education teacher and a parent, and this is the BEST app. I've found! I love the fact that I can record my voice with each letter. Another favorite feature is that I can type my own word list for practice! I have not seen this feature with any other app of this kind. I could go on and on, but another super plus for the students i teach is that the finger trace sequence is not erased if their finger comes off the stroke. What has been traced stays on and thy can continue. I can't wait to go back to school on Monday and share this with my coworkers and my students!

Almost perfect. I love the app! I tell everyone about it! The only thing that needs changed asap is the "next button" / arrow. It's too close to the settings button and even tho the parental lock on it can keep kids from changing settings, it's still a pain for little fingers that want to do things themselves to get to the next adventure when they keep clicking other things. Move the settings and refresh buttons to the bottom of the screen or center... ;) Thanks for the great app!
