Please add this update :(. This is a great app, makes it very easy to find the times for the bus and location but even though this app has been helpful and works very well theres just one thing I wish it had which is showing the exit for buses in port authority, like if there was some way that everytime I checked for the bus times to leave from NY to NJ from port authority and the app telling me which exit the bus will be, only because the directories in port authority are never accurate or dont ever show the exit and youre lost looking. Other than that, great app.
Who built this, and why do they hate us?. The NJ Transit app is a masterclass in how not to design a transit app. Want to check a bus time? Good luck—it’s hidden like a cursed artifact in a bombed out museum. And once you do find it, you can’t just buy a ticket from that screen. No, that would be far too convenient. Instead, you’re forced to back out and wander through the app like it’s some kind of digital DMV. I’m tech savvy, and even I feel like I need a support group and a stiff drink after using this thing. If I were a senior trying to get to a medical appointment? I’d probably end up missing the appointment, give up, sit back on the couch, and be found two years later as a skeleton with Wheel of Fortune still playing in the background. And the updates? Oh, they roll out with bold promises like “improved user experience” and “bug fixes,” but nothing ever actually improves. It’s like putting a fresh coat of paint on a collapsed building. I could design a better app on 3% battery, post-op, using only my non-dominant hand and a cracked screen. Seriously, this app feels like it was built out of spite.
NJ Transit Apo. I like all it’s features. I can buy tickets from the app and see on live when is my bus. The only problem is when the app doesn’t update the current day every morning and I have to sign out and in and wait around 10 minutes to see my ticket show up blinking in the app because some NJ Transit drivers that saw me even daily, wants me to pay a regular ticket. This is happening to many users, as another NJ drivers told me.
So buggy!. The app looks great but it’s so convoluted and there are 2 problems that I see constantly and they have not been fixed. Daily I have to log in to pull up my monthly ticket and there’s always a flash error during this process. It looks like you can show your ticket, it says you have to login, then you have to tap the flash ticket error and then hit your Touch ID. Why? So many steps!! Also, if you favorite a stop number on My Bus it doesn’t save at the top of the list like it does when you favorite a route. Again, why??? So every day I have to remember and type in my stop number to see when the bus is arriving. It’s starred, so the app knows I have favorited it but it’s not at the top. Absolute silliness. Please fix this.
Improved but still needs work. This app has been vastly improved in it's latest major overhaul. It's now much easier to purchase tickets and I use the electronic tickets now instead of paper ones for my daily commute. Suggestions for future improvements: 1) PLEASE make it so tickets can be activated on the phone without a data connection. Even though I've already purchased the tickets I sometimes forget to activate one before heading underground to the platform where there is no cell service. I imagine most commuters face this situation frequently and this creates frustration for both riders and conductors. 2) Please add a confirmation before activating more than one ticket at a time. I have occasionally activated more tickets than I wanted to because of accidental taps on my phone and those extra tickets were wasted.
Finally! Brightness control has been achieved!. You’ll get 5 stars when the passes are available in the wallet. If you ever make the pass available on the Apple Watch I will personally petition Apple to give me the option of assigning you 6 stars!!! In all seriousness a much improved app. It’s nice seeing you guys embrace competence. And I can barely believe the words I’m about to write but … I actually enjoy using the app now as opposed to cursing the devils that put me through countless conductor eye-rolls as I would try in vain to show them my monthly pass.
Buses don’t show up and app makes it impossible to track them. Im unsure why but sometimes the buses just don’t show up, either that or they’re more than 10minutes late which, would be fine if it wasn’t marked as arrived on the app. What’s worse is the app consistently refuses to show the buses whereabouts, sometimes it will but coincidentally when the bus either doesn’t show up or is late, it doesn’t show on the map which, you would think it should show even more so. Also, tickets get deleted after 30 days now, so I buy the tickets, just to not use them, just to then lose my money.
App is Garbage. UX is garbage.. Haven’t had to use this app in a few years due to Covid. Was pleasantly surprised to find a few new features added since the last time I used to be app. Well it looks like it is just front end gloss as the UX is utterly garbage. Navigating from schedules to get ticket purchases is non-intuitive and requires a multitude of clicks and for the user to remember which menus have which options. I should just be able to go to schedule>bus>purchase. Nope. You have to go to schedule>bus>menu>tickets>purchase. Then don’t get me started on the actual schedule issues itself. Their bus schedules are links to pdfs or something off platform that rarely work and continue to be impossible to read. Might want to hire some better app developers or at least pay the current ones better.
Absurdly Unclear Ticketing Schemes. I got a monthly pass for unlimited rides into NYC from Secaucus. I specifically selected NYC and Secaucus from within the app. The app told me to buy a zone 2 pass. On the pass, it says “interstate,” leading me to conclude it covers transit to New York. I’m here for a month, so I got the $100 monthly pass. I get on the 320 bus and the driver tells me I need a zone 3 pass. The app sold me a zone 2 pass. After arguing with him for a few minutes, I decided to wait for the next bus. Some drivers are sticklers, some don’t care. The next bus had a driver who didn’t care. I’m extremely disappointed with whoever made this app. It’s extremely outdated since it doesn’t even include navigation or live bus/train tracking information. But that could be forgiven if they had clear and accurate ticketing information. They should not be so misleading when buying tickets. It’s absolutely unacceptable that I can be guided to pay $100 or more for tickets and then be told “you can’t ride this bus you paid $100 to ride.” I shouldn’t pay for transit and then be told I didn’t pay for transit. If NJ transit reads this and decides to discipline the driver who didn’t care, YOU GOT THE WRONG MESSAGE.
App continually crashing. My app is crashing more often than not. There is no update, so it is not a problem in terms of my app not being up to date. I cannot activate not purchase new tickets, and I keep receiving error messages when I try telling me to “try again later.” How does that help if my bus is coming now, not later? The app will also randomly decide to sign me out mid-transaction, and then I must sign in manually using a completely convoluted multi step process involving inputting my password AND using Touch ID, and half the time is will give me an error message and not sign me in at all. Please fix this, I need to get to work.
A few enhancements needed. Much better than it used to be. A few things that would help is in rider tools you should be able to search for a previous train that had left already so you can track the status of where your friend or family is. Like on the map for example. It appeared to work once when I changed the time but hasn’t worked since. Also should be able to share a ticket, or buy and transfer to a family member if for what ever reason they can’t access their ticket, or there is an issue.
Used to allow me to show two tickets at once…,((. …but for some reason they decided to take that feature away? I travel with my fiancé who happens to be in a wheelchair. So I pay adult fare and she pays the disabled fare. I used to be able to buy two tickets in the same transaction and display them both on the same screen. Now it only lets you select and display multiple tickets if they’re the same fare type. My fiancé and I already deal with enough challenges trying to get transportation for the two of us. We don’t need this extra hassle especially when I used to be able to display both at the same time. Now I have to awkwardly fumble and show my ticket, close out my ticket and then open hers. She can’t use her phone because of her disability so this just gives us an extra obstacle.
Quick Buy. Overall a very good app. I do have one request. Can you add a delete function for the Quick Buy menu? Its nice to buy my tickets through that menu as it is quick and I don’t need to run through the whole process of selecting origin and destination but every time I get a ticket for an out of the ordinary trip it clutters this menu. I would like to have just tickets I frequently use on this menu. It would be nice if I could customize it.
Needs major upgrades. Not sure if anyone has compared this app to the MTA app but mannn does it need to be more like it. This app is way too convoluted, slow, and fidgety. Theres barely real time updates, you can’t track your current trip, the rewards tab doesn’t work anymore, and much more. The only thing this app is really good for is to look up routes and buying tickets. Other than that it’s not really rider friendly as it doesn’t provide you with tools after actually buying your ticket. Please look at other transit apps to see what is needed to make this app great.
App blackout. While there have been no issues with the app as of late, especially compared to my last phone, I do get concerned when the app blacks out on me. It will sometimes sign me out and I panic as it appears my ticket disappears. Only when I close the app window and log back in does it show my ticket is still active. While it’s ok that the app will log me out I want to make sure my ticket is secure. There should also be some notifications to show up for buses as there’s no indication when buses are cancelled.
For me the only good thing this is for is purchasing your tickets. The bus times are almost always inaccurate. I’ll try to see what time the bus comes so I can leave accordingly. For example, if I have to be at work at 4pm I’ll check around 2 for the bus times, it only shows bus times for the next 15 minutes, sometimes 30 minutes, sometimes an hour. So then I wait to check again at 2:30 or 3. It’s show buses coming at like 3:15, 3:45, 3:53, 4:05. I check again 5 minutes later the bus times that show up are 3:15, 3:53, 4:05 so I almost always have to end up being late or taking an uber instead. The Trip Planning tab is not that easy. It gives you the run around and seems like the trip they plan for you is whatever brings the most money. Every time I try to plan a trip I go on the actual website to double check and I’ll get completely different trip options and the ones that show up on the app always have multiple transfers while the website will show a trip with 0 or 1 transfers. Searching for bus stops is also an issue unless I have the actual bus stop number.
awful app somehow worse than PATH’s. looking for a night out in nyc? well look no further for transportation there with the njtransit app! it’s got everything (that will stop you dead in transit) — the slowest connectivity despite your phone’s 5g, zero (0) notifications about even the most basic service outage leaving you stranded at a train station, a requirement to activate your ticket even when you don’t have service, a horrible UI that REFUSES to tell you what bus line to take, occasionally taking your payment without giving you a ticket. if all that sounds disappointing, keep in mind that fares have gone up yet again despite no improvement to train performance nor frequency increases!
Good when they use it.. Besides the half broken functionality of the app, like viewing the stops the bus has been to is still broken and HAS been broken for months now, the apps good when they actually use it. Like someone please explain the point to me of having an app to alert people of issues on the transit, such as a bus being cancelled… and then not fkin USING IT. I’ve been screwed over thrice now in the past two days trying to get to and from work because there’s not a single alert saying that a bus has been cancelled. Not to mention the million OTHER times this has occurred. I’m going to lose my mind if this turns into another day of “guess if the bus has been cancelled or if the gps system just isn’t working again”. You have an app, use it.
Love but…. I love this, i just wish they had a feature where u can buy or send someone the ticket that u bought for them because there have been situations were machines wont take money or my friends cant get the app to buy a ticket or have trouble signing up. One of my friends had miney but the machine wouldnt take it so i bought a ticket on the app and sent them a screenshot of it but it didnt work they needed the app and they dont speak English. The guy on the train was nice enough to let him go on the next stop to purchase a ticket. But i wish there was a feature for stuff like this. Also it be nice if they could let us go back in time to see the trains that came earlier, because my friend was on there way and i couldnt check the time they got on the train anymore because it updates the next train that comes and i cant go back or set the time back to the time they got on the train.
Needs to implement Wallet. The app is straightforward enough, but it NEEDS Apple Wallet integration immediately. How much simpler would it be to simply double press the side button to bring up your ticket instantly, instead of having to: 1) Unlock your phone, 2) find this app on the Home Screen, 3) tap into the app, 3) go to the tickets tab, and 4) activate your ticket. Those times where you might forget to activate your ticket is so annoying when the conductor comes around and you make the person wait for you to do all that. Just put it in the wallet app so we can show them our tickets instantly!
Opaque password requirements. When I tried to create a new account I tried literary 15 different possible passwords to find something acceptable to the app, and every time the password would be rejected with the same cryptic message about number of characters, upper case characters, numeric characters, and special characters, but it never told me which rules where not met or were violated, so I had no idea what was wrong or what to change, basically I was just guessing why my password wasn’t acceptable and making changes in the dark. I’ve never had problems creating a password with any other app, and I suspect that there may be additional hidden rules that aren’t listed. Regardless, the app is useless to me if I can’t create an account.
Awesome customer service. My heart sank when I accidentally overwrote my account due to one of those annoying tech upgrades on iPhone! I was on a train from NYC to my hometown for Christmas and couldn’t remember my password to any of my app accounts including my personal email 😰. I had about 20 one way tickets saved in my profile history. I found a phone number and spoke with Pam after the holiday. Patiently she troubleshooted the account and was able to reactivate the old account finding my history! Great way to end the year! Thanks Pam! 🙏🏼🌺
Fatal Bug Due to Apostrophe. Fix immediately.. I’m trying to set a route 165 bus stop as one of my favorites by tapping the gray star at the upper right corner of that bus stop’s status screen. The star never turns yellow and the bus stop never appears in my favorites. This same happens for the other bus stops that have an apostrophe (for “feet”) in their names like “Jefferson St 100’ E of Main St”, “Kinderkamack Rd 100’ N of Old Hook Rd,” etc. This bug doesn’t happen for bus stop names that don’t have an apostrophe. Your system is confused by the apostrophe. Please fix immediately.
Not for new riders. Downloaded this app to try to plan a trip from NY Penn to Teaneck. Google maps helpfully laid out the bus route and the destination stop and even gave correct departure times. This app however could not offer me any useful information. How would I know what bus # I need? The Trip Planner has bugs. Repeatedly says invalid URL no matter which destination I chose. There isn’t an interactive map to select your destination. The labeled stations from the app are confusing as it doesn’t coincide with cross streets on a map. You pretty much need to know before using this app what bus route and which stop is closest to your destination. In other words you need google maps. The only thing this app can provide is the schedule and alerts to delays or last minute changes. So, this app is for frequent riders only.
Stranded by a Trusted App. I love the ease of use this app has. I can purchase tickets without the need for cash. It keeps me safe, and allows me to spend responsibly. But my recent experience left me disillusioned. After selling some of my stocks, I carefully budgeted to afford a ticket, making sure every cent counted. I didn’t anticipate the app failing me at such a critical moment. When the ApplePay option didn’t work, I was forced to use my CashApp card, but even then, the transaction failed to go through properly. My payment was recognized, but the ticket wasn’t issued. Now I’m out $3.60, and worse, I can’t even afford the bus ride home to freshen up before heading back to New York. As someone with a background in cybersecurity, I was hesitant to store my card information on the app. Its outdated design raised red flags for me. And now, after this frustrating experience, my concerns feel justified. I trusted this app to make my journey smoother, but instead, it left me stranded and stressed, questioning whether I should rely on it at all. This app may offer convenience on the surface, but when it really mattered, it let me down. I expected better, especially when my money and time were on the line.
Unreliable/unpleasant environments. I left my car near the bus stop (stuyvesant and Nye in Irvington, NJ)because I didn’t think I would be able to get parking around Essex county college but found there were spaces. GPS app stated 15 min for next bus at nye and Springfield ave. I went into store for 5 min and upon coming out saw a #25 bus pass by. Yet the bus that was for 15 min showed 11 mins I. The app before it arrives. All buses don’t seem to be captured by the gps radar. I finally get on the bus to find it almost full. Why do all the buses have to be packed up with people??? In just a few mi s on the bus that is what happened. And the people that got on left little to be desired looking and sounding like they came from a meth clinic with much noise, cursing and filling up the bus😣. It’s the people that have undesirable behavior that gives NJT a bad name. I could not get off the bus fast enough. I have not taken the bus since December 2019 as I brought a new car. I don’t miss the buses at all and plan to stay off of them.
easy to use but. The app is easy to use, but I really recommend improving the customer service. I wanted to use the toilet on this trip and asked the staff. They show impatience. The toilet door wouldn't open. I asked for help from one of the staff, but he seemed indifferent. He told me that he was busy right now and that he wouldn't check it until he wasn't busy, which I understood, but what I didn't understand was that the next second after he said that he was back in his seat. are you really busy? or you just doesn’t care? I am very disappointed about this trip.
Convenient app for your daily commute. Every morning I used this app to purchase my bus ticket. I don’t have to prepare change, put them in separate pocket and don’t have to put the clanging coin in the machine and hold up everybody else for my lack of preparation. I only have to show the bus driver who is very nice and click a button as acceptance of my ticket. The app also showed me the time of my bus ride. And a history of my ride but I don’t use this function. I can imagine that someone will find this function very useful
Trip tracker feature lacking. I enjoy using the app when riding the NJ Transit system mainly because it’s easy to purchase and show trip tickets. The trip tracker has a quirk in that if you are already on your train and haven’t opened the trip tracker for that particular trip, there’s no way to go to it. Searching for trips only brings up the next scheduled trains. I’ve looked everywhere in the app to no avail. It would be good if the feature could be added to find the station tracker for trains that one is currently on. Thank you.
Fantastic App. This app is truly one of the best apps related to public services! I’ve been an NJ Transit rider for over thirty years and started using the app as soon as it was available. There have been constant enhancements. Departure vision is incredible! The ability to see how congested a train car is beneficial, especially in the age of COVID. Thank NJ Transit for such a great product. However, if I can make one suggestion, it would be to indicate which car has the restroom.
Junk - Could be much better if they tried. To add to my prior review. Now I can’t figure out how to add favorites; that functionality seems to have gone. Also why have they changed the color of the Gladstone branch to be the same as Dover! Who would have believed they could actually have made this awful App even worse!! Original Review follows -There a myriad of problems with this app. Some seem to have been fixed, others not. Here are some that remain: There are no maps. The schedules are clearly not fed from the same database as website - they direct you to the website for service changes. There are no alerts on the app. - you need to go to website for those. They display train numbers in the schedules section, it would be logical if this were a "hot link" but it's not. Some trains simply do not appear in departure vision at all (on an intermittent basis). To sum up - it feels like "they have an app. so they can say they have an app." but they don't really seem to care that it is a crap app!! Update - while cancelled trains show up as “cancelled” on Departure Vision they don’t on the Schedules. This is trivial stuff to fix. Also the customized alerts feature is really poorly thought out. Do they care - absolutely not?
Buy paper tix until this app is fixed. App was fine before in early summer when I used it, as of Aug 25th 2023 is very glitchy, wouldn’t process my (easy) ticket I normally get and a friend traveling with me ended up accidentally buying 6 (!) of the same tickets because the app kept telling them the purchase didn’t go through and to try again. They did actually go through, even after refreshing things the app didn’t send a pop up notice the purchase was successful, and NJ Transit didn’t send a receipt promptly via email saying so. Being on a train platform or on a train running into ticket/app problems creates high stress and headaches for conductors who end up hearing valid excuses why you can’t show your ticket, or that you were just overcharged trying to buy 1 but ended up with 6. Apparently NJ Transit doesn’t like giving refunds (what a scam) so my friends forced to try to use the extra tix to a location she doesn’t often go. NJ has a millions of tech IT people who can capably fix app bugs I’m sure.. NJ Transit management needs to hire better tech developers to keep these problems from happening-do more test runs before releasing a new update. Amateurs should not be running an app that a half million people or so need for train commuting. Please stay on top of tech issues and fix asap! Or just go back to paper tickets til app bugs are sorted out.
NJ Transit is a joke. I love the option of “giving a review” as if a good or bad opinion means anything to this quasi-public organization. It is interesting to note that on this Saturday evening home literally every aisle that offers ticket machines was barricaded off, thus forcing patrons to buy tickets on their mobile phones. The “hard working” (neutered) police officers of Penn Station claim the barricades are to “quell the homeless issue we are dealing with”. I fully understand that the life of a NYC police officer (whether it be NYPD, MTA, or Amtrak) has become nothing more than that of a crossing guard so I put none of this on them. I just find it absolutely disgusting that we are still expected to pay full price for a train ticket home when we are literally unable to buy a paper ticket.
Crashes. New version needs some fixing regarding how we log in. Why do we constantly need to put in our password except for when we’re using stored credit cards? And this new version doesn’t work well with saved passwords on the iPhone - I use Touch ID to retrieve my stored password and it deletes my email. In general I love being able to buy my tickets via an app and the new design seems fine. Major issue that persists in this version: I need to open the app when I first get on the train in Penn Station but because of limited connectivity I often have trouble. The app should be able to show active tickets without connectivity. It used to be fine in that regard but a few updates ago it became an issue. Conductors get very frustrated when the app isn't open and running but that is very often not the fault of the riders. (That's another customer service issue - many of the conductors are outwardly hostile about the app - they need to learn to adapt but I believe that would be enabled if the app were set up such that it doesn't make their jobs harder. ) Just this morning I had the app open just fine. Conductor came around 5 mins later and it had kicked me out so he had to come back.
Support for services disruptions needs improvement. The application does adequately inform riders of service outages and delays. The Schedule function presents trains that NJ Transit cancelled days before. Why aren’t cancellations removed from the schedule? The “Service advisory” information is hidden in “Rider tools”. It should be a one click feature. The Service Advisory doesn’t provide direct information on your line. One has to scroll down a single page and find the line. Then one has to click on a hyperlink which opens a browser and redirects to a website, which is yet another long page that one has to scroll through. Too many steps and it takes too long to find information. The “My transit alerts” function makes no sense and is useless. The vast majority of your customers use the app every time they ride. Each user has tickets, so it should be easy to know which line affects them. There are opportunities to provide them real time updates on service disruptions that are easily accessible. Finding service information should not be a digital maze. The app should be overhauled from the rider’s perspective.
Departure View. The new updates are awesome! Very fast and convenient. It saves money when you forget to buy your ticket beforehand. The only issue now is that the departure view makes it impossible to keep up with your train’s progress in a “live” sense. You literally have to go to the departure view from each station (which isn’t helpful if traveling through unfamiliar territory). Once your train leaves you just can’t tell.
New App is very difficult to use- Monthly passes won’t load without internet. The old app would allow already activated single ride and monthly passes to be displayed when no internet. This is a MUST for areas where there is no cell service. Like Penn Station etc. It also constantly logs you out which of course you can’t display your pass when you are logged out and no internet to log in. Old app- put device in airplane mode - pass would display instantly if activated like a monthly. I never know when I will be logged out and have a train staff member standing waiting for me to display even when the app was already loaded when I was on the platform. If it’s loaded on your device for too long before needing to display - oops logged out again. Flash error. Needs to re log in with Face ID - hope you have data. Also Secaucus doesn’t show up in rail schedules.
Inconvenience. The New Jersey transit app is such an inconvenience. Is the bus is supposed to be there at a certain time but the bus comes early then the jersey transit app should allow you to know that the bus is going to be here early I have missed my bus countless of time thinking that it will be there at a certain time and it comes 10 or 15 minutes earlier than what it should have if a lot of people are relying on this app it would be best for the app to update in real time on when the bus should be there is it inconvenient to a lot of people. Fix it.
Really bad.... Bus schedule is impossible to figure out which gate you need to go to. Things constantly change and the app just says “trip info not available” you’re better off just using Apple Maps. Why do I have to pick a “zone” When purchasing a ticket? The app should automatically select the zone for us when we select our start and end point. The train schedules have gotten better over time and the tickets work fine but there needs to be more real time updates. The my train feature only works 1/3 of the time and there are almost always delays so arrival times are always inconsistent. (The app doesn’t reflect this) app will say train departed while it’s pulling into a station or is delayed Also why are the tickers expiring now? I’ve spent money and that ticket should remain valid until I need to use it. Just a pretty crappy money grab for a crappy app and consistently bad attitude workers. The ui as a whole is clunky ant not intuitive at all. Loses connection and randomly crashes all the time. For how much tickets cost and the volume of travelers using this app everyday I expect more -a daily nj transit commuter
Ok, but cumbersome to use. This app does what it’s suppose to do but user interface doesn’t make it easy. When I plan my trip I use Trip Planner feature because I need to factor in available connections in Secaucus. Trip Planner is hidden in obscure place of UI. More over, I have to type same trip all over again each time because it doesn’t save them. Also, Trip Planner doesn’t show what gate my train is at so I have to switch back to department vision. This app would also greatly benefited from Live Activities that would track your trip, show the track and train # and a ticket itself when necessary, just like United and other airlines do!
Constantly need to re-sign in. As long as you don’t encounter the occasional sign-in issue, it does the job: you can buy the ticket you need to get where you need to get. The basics of app experience need some polishing, however, and it can be a little confusing for the unitiated in the Jersey transit network of options. As one example, the app constantly signs you out so that (in a time crunch) it becomes very annoying to open it, type in your credentials and password, and then try to get your ticket purchased in time for the train or bus departure.
Display Problems. App works great but this is the first time I had ever had an issue but my bus pass isn’t displaying properly. It’s only showing the month, QC box and a portion of the date, time and remaining time of pass usage. It doesn’t show the lower flashing bar which operators use to verify the authenticity of your pass. Hopefully this can be resolved because I don’t want to have to continue purchasing one way passes when I already have a monthly pass.
Takes my money but doesn’t give me a ticket.. The app would be a convenient tool if it actually worked properly. Multiple times this app took my money and didn’t not deliver tickets which I had to dispute with my bank.. multiple times I have had to argue with bus drivers cause the app won’t allow me to purchase a ticket and there are no stations around to purchase any and when you call customer service about this issue no one seems to know anything not even the tech department.. a lot of bugs needs to be fixed also NJT customer all together is horrible extremely nasty attitudes buses are never clean and no one ever knows anything or ever has any information even the people who are in charge of having the information.
Fix the app please. You know the blinking part on the bottom, sometimes, when you open the app, or let me rephrase, pull it back up from earlier, that blinking part on bottom doesnt work. It seems like not a big deal since you just restart the app and it works fine, however when a bus driver starts accusing you in front of whole bus that im trying to pass with a fake ticket, and telling me to step down from bus while im trying to pull the app back up, its freaking rude, not to say embarrassing. Can you please fix it so that we dont find ourselves in such a spot, and can rely on the app to work properly when we push the app icon , and pull the app up on screen? We pay tons of money for monthly tickets, i think we deserve smooth app service, let alone a little bit of human to human respect when boarding the bus. Idk this is really frustrating. Monthly Ticket. The app has been worse since the beginning of CoVid it no longer keeps you signed in when you have the monthly pass. You have to resign in to the app then go to the ticket then sign in again and then most times it gives you a flash error and you have to sign in again. It takes forever. It use to be even when you didn’t have service you were still signed into the monthly app. This issue has not gone away with the updated and causes delays especially when there is very little service in the tunnels at Penn station.
Only plus is having your ticket on your phone. The only thing it’s good for is purchasing tickets. The bus app is as good as the employees half of the busses are not even listed on the app. The drivers say it’s the offices fault and the office has never done anything to fix it in almost three years. Same thing with the train schedule. They show estimated times which aren’t even scheduled times. You’re better off using google maps. The rewards program is a joke and a wasted effort. No one is buying extra tickets to receive a discount on discounted gym classes at a location you can’t even access via public transportation

New version looks nice but WONKY and nonsensical.. The new version of the app looks nice and modern. But it’s very annoying that my monthly pass pops up instantly when clicking “my tickets” because i actually have other tickets! Also it displays horizontally, which is annoying because I never asked it to rotate. If the ticket wants to display horizontally to distinguish a monthly from a single use, fine, but the functions should still remain at the bottom because I’m not holding my phone sideways, I’m holding it vertically. It’s very frustrating when trying to close the monthly pass to continue using the app or display another ticket. Also, the new version’s “schedule” feature got rid of displaying if a route has transfers on the results screen. I almost stayed on a train that had a transfer to get to where I was going because you have to CLICK the route to see wether or not you need to transfer to a different line or not. The old version said wether or not a route had transfers or not up front. It’s very misleading because I want to avoid trains with transfers if I can, and people who are new to NJ transit will for sure stay on a train instead of transfer if they don’t click to expand the route info because they’re under the impression there are no transfers if It doesn’t say so up front. Please bring that feature back. Everything else is fine I guess.
NJTransit and its app are garbage. On top of njtransit's CONSTANT departures from schedule--alternately running early or late, constant cancellations, and limited availability, the app makes it even worse by failing to update the trains' info online. It will tell you a train is coming in two minutes and then jumps up to eight. Trains will be set for their stop/departure in one minute and the train will sit there for twenty. The app will tell you a train is pulling in/boarding and it's not there--sometimes for another twenty minutes, sometimes it will never come--but will continue to say it's running on schedule for all the stops on the line when there is no train. Today Secaucus had three trains in a row pulling into the same lane for some reason, back to back, but at the last minute decided to send the third I needed to a different lane. The app and the monitors didn't show that it had changed until the train pulled in and we missed it. There wasn't another for an hour. This is the worst public transportation system you will probably ever use. Find some other way to travel.
Requests for better design. It does not make sense to have the MyBus feature under the same tab as the purchase tickets section. You can’t check the bus time and buy tickets easily within the same time period. This has screwed me over multiple times. You should be able to check your bus time and flip to another tab at the bottom to continue purchasing your ticket. Please separate out these features!! Also the bus timing is never really on point. This makes it very hard to plan when to go to a bus stop during the winter when you want to avoid waiting in the freezing cold. Please do better with this as well.

Need Penn Station Info. All aspects of app are great except Penn NY track information. Pushing track to app as an alert would be extremely helpful. As of now, you have to at the right place/right time/right screen to get track with limited boarding time.

Doesn’t let me enter a postal code. Visiting from Canada, when adding payment info it would not let me enter letter characters that are required in Canadian postal codes. I tried also converting using the standard postal/zip conversion and that did not work either. Disappointing, seems like it could be a good app but totally useless to me.

A shockingly competent public service app. As a visitor just passing through for an event, I was expecting a lowest- bidder, out of date transit app. Was pleasantly surprised by how well everything worked. Only point of feedback is to make it clear to the user that the maximum number of tickets that be be activated in one scan is 5, because my group of six panicked when I tried to activate all of them and was told that many could not be activated at once. Activating one separately worked fine.
Terrible Update!. This new update is incredibly difficult to use. I never had any issues before the redesign. It is difficult navigating to the train times of the locations I have favorited and it’s also not easy buying tickets. I normally only buy train tickets, but the app is now showing me I only have the option to buy light rail tickets. I ended up buying tickets through the NJ Transit website instead. What’s the point of having an app when your website is more reliable and accessible? This is an embarrassment of an app when we are literally minutes away from the world using our transit system for the World Cup. Do better NJ! And bring back the original app!
Finally! Brightness control has been achieved!. You’ll get 5 stars when the passes are available in the wallet. If you ever make the pass available on the Apple Watch I will personally petition Apple to give me the option of assigning you 6 stars!!! Nj transit dark mode feature.. Before i i updated the app to the new version I liked the ability to use dark mode to keep my phone battery from dying and it doesn’t hurt my eyes when I use the app in the dark. Please bring it back in one of the future updates like before iOS 27 gets released this year and parts of next year. I love this new update it is very easy to use.
New UI update is terrible. I recently updated to the new app with updated UI and it is insanely challenging to find time tables for bus or trains. When trying to see my commute home, the departure vision tries to show me bus or train, when I only want to see train routes. So I need to de-select busses every time. This new update is not user friendly at all. I do not need nj transit to give me a full view of my commute when I walk to the train and then to the destination. I just need to know all the options of my train and how long they take. Genuinely bad update guys. Please revisit this design and make it friendly for users. Give us the departure vision for my specific commute route with an option to quickly look that up
App blackout. While there have been no issues with the app as of late, especially compared to my last phone, I do get concerned when the app blacks out on me. It will sometimes sign me out and I panic as it appears my ticket disappears. Only when I close the app window and log back in does it show my ticket is still active. While it’s ok that the app will log me out I want to make sure my ticket is secure. There should also be some notifications to show up for buses as there’s no indication when buses are cancelled.

App continually crashing. My app is crashing more often than not. There is no update, so it is not a problem in terms of my app not being up to date. I cannot activate not purchase new tickets, and I keep receiving error messages when I try telling me to “try again later.” How does that help if my bus is coming now, not later? The app will also randomly decide to sign me out mid-transaction, and then I must sign in manually using a completely convoluted multi step process involving inputting my password AND using Touch ID, and half the time is will give me an error message and not sign me in at all. Please fix this, I need to get to work.

easy to use but. The app is easy to use, but I really recommend improving the customer service. I wanted to use the toilet on this trip and asked the staff. They show impatience. The toilet door wouldn't open. I asked for help from one of the staff, but he seemed indifferent. He told me that he was busy right now and that he wouldn't check it until he wasn't busy, which I understood, but what I didn't understand was that the next second after he said that he was back in his seat. are you really busy? or you just doesn’t care? I am very disappointed about this trip.
Confused Much?!. The only reason I’m at 3*’s is because it’s so confusing trying to PLAN ahead. The App’s default settings keep taking you to the schedules for your current location and the time you’re using it so when you’re trying to see what options are available to you for traveling in the upcoming weeks, having to keep starting over from the beginning and repeatedly having to put all your info back in is just tiresome and a bit aggravating. There’s also the problem of the schedules between the train and the busses NOT being in sync that is REALLY ANNOYING! So if the train is supposed to be at your stop by 3:10 & the bus getting you from the station to your bus’ desired stop is supposed to be there at 3:20... the occasional “holdup” for an unscheduled track shift or if something else holds you up for even 5 minutes then you’ve missed your bus and (if it’s after 5pm on a weekday) you’ve got a good hour or so to wait for the next bus to come along. Usually this isn’t a big deal but being a very petite woman, over the age of 50 & traveling alone(!)... having to wait an hour, late at night, with the people who tend to consider the station “home” either sleeping on one of the benches you might want to sit on or constantly asking if you have any spare money on you... can get a little scary and possibly create a scene or even become an altercation, so I wish they’d take these “potential delays” into consideration when scheduling the times of the different modes of transportation offered to avoid any unfortunate situations that could happen as a result of a few minutes of a delay. Heck, I left AC at 6pm one night and didn’t get to the Lindenwold Patco station & then the bus to my house’s stop until almost midnight all because of four minute delay caused me to miss the bus so I had to wait an hour for the next bus then another half an hour so the driver could take a break and I totally understand, they deserve a break as much as anyone however; noticing I was the only person waiting for the bus, he could’ve let me sit on the bus while he ate his “snack” but no so it was a bad night, after a long weekend (48hrs in 3days) of work, ending with having to wait then walk the dark roads to get to my house! Not something I’d like to repeat, ever! Work something out please and thank you. I’ll update as they do! TTFN ✌🏼
Convenient when it wants to be.. This app is great in concept, in that it takes away from the hassle of using paper tickets or cash when you use Nj’s buses or trains. Honestly, I have no complaints about the apps functionality. What i find absolutely ridiculous is the arbitrary one month expiration date when you buy tickets (including when buying in bulk). Granted one can make the argument that “You should know when and where you’re going before hand. Buying a ticket days or weeks in advance is stupid” and I’d counter that but saying I BOUGHT THIS WITH MY MONEY! IT SHOULDNT MATTER WHEN OR HOW LONG IT TAKES ME TO USE IT, ITS MINE. I PAID FOR IT!! Imagine if you get paid and your employer said “hey this money is good for 30 days, you can only spend this money I’m allowing you to have for a month and if you don’t use it, I assume you don’t want it and I’ll take it back. Tickets shouldn’t have expectations or expire. My other complaint. You can pre purchase your tickets with every intention to use them as expected. You can be on time, listening to music and watching videos, but when the time comes to activate your ticket, that you paid for and had to login for to use, suddenly you have no connection to the network. You can’t activate your ticket. You can be in Jersey City, Hoboken, Newark, Manhattan, Edison, Plainfield, doesn’t matter. There will come a moment where this thing you’ve depend upon just won’t work and not let you activate your ticket. And sometimes the bus operator or conductor will see this and let it go or check back later to see if it works….sometimes. Other times, you’ll get fined and punished. It only happens a couple times, but it’s very annoying when I take out my phone to show my activated ticket, it doesn’t activate, and the driver doesn’t let me on and I have to walk 5 miles. Needs to implement Wallet. The app is straightforward enough, but it NEEDS Apple Wallet integration immediately. How much simpler would it be to simply double press the side button to bring up your ticket instantly, instead of having to: 1) Unlock your phone, 2) find this app on the Home Screen, 3) tap into the app, 3) go to the tickets tab, and 4) activate your ticket. Those times where you might forget to activate your ticket is so annoying when the conductor comes around and you make the person wait for you to do all that. Just put it in the wallet app so we can show them our tickets instantly!
A few enhancements needed. Much better than it used to be. A few things that would help is in rider tools you should be able to search for a previous train that had left already so you can track the status of where your friend or family is. Like on the map for example. It appeared to work once when I changed the time but hasn’t worked since. Also should be able to share a ticket, or buy and transfer to a family member if for what ever reason they can’t access their ticket, or there is an issue.
Bring Back “Current Train” Information. The new app removed one of the most useful and underrated features: the ability to quickly see details about the train you’re currently riding. That feature made it easy to answer simple but important questions like, “Does this train stop at XYZ station?” or “Is this the correct train?” Without it, riders are left guessing or scrambling to look up schedules while already onboard. I’ve lost count of how many times people relied on that information during a trip. Removing it adds unnecessary confusion and makes the app less practical for everyday commuters. Please consider bringing this feature back. It genuinely improved the rider experience.
Who built this, and why do they hate us?. The NJ Transit app is a masterclass in how not to design a transit app. Want to check a bus time? Good luck—it’s hidden like a cursed artifact in a bombed out museum. And once you do find it, you can’t just buy a ticket from that screen. No, that would be far too convenient. Instead, you’re forced to back out and wander through the app like it’s some kind of digital DMV. I’m tech savvy, and even I feel like I need a support group and a stiff drink after using this thing. If I were a senior trying to get to a medical appointment? I’d probably end up missing the appointment, give up, sit back on the couch, and be found two years later as a skeleton with Wheel of Fortune still playing in the background. And the updates? Oh, they roll out with bold promises like “improved user experience” and “bug fixes,” but nothing ever actually improves. It’s like putting a fresh coat of paint on a collapsed building. I could design a better app on 3% battery, post-op, using only my non-dominant hand and a cracked screen. Seriously, this app feels like it was built out of spite.
Good app but UX needs to be better. I can get all the NJTRANSIT travel options and buy tickets using the app. That’s great. But some of menus get so nested that you get lost. I was looking at bus options and couldn’t find a button to buy tickets. Finally figured out I had to go back one menu item a time to get to the main menu where I see Buy Tickets. Hey, put a buy ticket menu item on the navigation bar at the button and also add a button on the MyTickets page. Make it easy for folks to spend money and not have to struggle to find one button embedded 4 layers up.
Bus Schedule is Horrible. With the new update I can’t load the 137 bus schedule going from Dorado to Port Authority. On top of that even when it does function properly it doesn’t show you the entire schedule like you can see on the rail schedule. It will only show you 3 route times within a window. It’s such a pain and will drastically change the results if you change your time by 10 minutes. I just want to see the entire days worth of trips in one place. But if that’s asking too much I’d just like to see the schedule in general. Right now I only see an error message saying My Bus error

Opaque password requirements. When I tried to create a new account I tried literary 15 different possible passwords to find something acceptable to the app, and every time the password would be rejected with the same cryptic message about number of characters, upper case characters, numeric characters, and special characters, but it never told me which rules where not met or were violated, so I had no idea what was wrong or what to change, basically I was just guessing why my password wasn’t acceptable and making changes in the dark. I’ve never had problems creating a password with any other app, and I suspect that there may be additional hidden rules that aren’t listed. Regardless, the app is useless to me if I can’t create an account.
Awesome customer service. My heart sank when I accidentally overwrote my account due to one of those annoying tech upgrades on iPhone! I was on a train from NYC to my hometown for Christmas and couldn’t remember my password to any of my app accounts including my personal email 😰. I had about 20 one way tickets saved in my profile history. I found a phone number and spoke with Pam after the holiday. Patiently she troubleshooted the account and was able to reactivate the old account finding my history! Great way to end the year! Thanks Pam! 🙏🏼🌺
New design solves zero of this app’s problems. This new facelift does nothing to address the many navigation and usability issues of this app and in many places, actually makes them worse. It’s more difficult to get to your departure board for trains and for some reason they’ve made the track readout, which is the most important thing when you’re trying to board at a large station, extremely small and hard to see. It seems like they focused on trying to make it look more modern and not on making it easier to use.
Why show only some bus routes???. I usually find the NJ Transit app very useful. However we are from Philly and were in North Jersey today. I tried to use the app to buy bus tickets and it only showed me South Jersey buses. This makes no sense to me. We’re a neighboring state and often travel to NY. I can see all the train lines. Why not all the buses??? I kept thinking I was doing something wrong. When we arrived in NY I asked customer service and they said that’s correct, if you have a South Jersey location they will not show you North Jersey routes. Please fix!!!
Really bad.... Bus schedule is impossible to figure out which gate you need to go to. Things constantly change and the app just says “trip info not available” you’re better off just using Apple Maps. Why do I have to pick a “zone” When purchasing a ticket? The app should automatically select the zone for us when we select our start and end point. The train schedules have gotten better over time and the tickets work fine but there needs to be more real time updates. The my train feature only works 1/3 of the time and there are almost always delays so arrival times are always inconsistent. (The app doesn’t reflect this) app will say train departed while it’s pulling into a station or is delayed Also why are the tickers expiring now? I’ve spent money and that ticket should remain valid until I need to use it. Just a pretty crappy money grab for a crappy app and consistently bad attitude workers. The ui as a whole is clunky ant not intuitive at all. Loses connection and randomly crashes all the time. For how much tickets cost and the volume of travelers using this app everyday I expect more -a daily nj transit commuter
Constantly need to re-sign in. As long as you don’t encounter the occasional sign-in issue, it does the job: you can buy the ticket you need to get where you need to get. The basics of app experience need some polishing, however, and it can be a little confusing for the unitiated in the Jersey transit network of options. As one example, the app constantly signs you out so that (in a time crunch) it becomes very annoying to open it, type in your credentials and password, and then try to get your ticket purchased in time for the train or bus departure.
extremely misleading. Tourist warning: NJ Transit’s app ticket system is extremely misleading. I purchased a round-trip train ticket from Princeton to New York and activated it before boarding, assuming it would simply be ready for inspection when I got on the train. What the app does NOT make sufficiently clear is that activated tickets expire after a short countdown window, even if completely unused. My ticket expired before I boarded, customer service at the station was dismissive, and the official refund process in 2026 still requires mailing paperwork for some requests. The entire experience feels designed to punish occasional riders and tourists unfamiliar with the system. A modern transit app should not make it this easy to accidentally lose paid tickets. At minimum: * there should be a large warning before activation, * unused activated tickets should be restorable, * and refunds should be handled digitally. The trains themselves are fine, but the app experience and customer support are genuinely frustrating.
I great update. The new app has a fresh look, the layout is more or less the same, favorites work across all buss stops not only the most transited areas. So far no crashes yet. As basic as this may sound for us New Jerseyan it’s a breath of fresh air hopefully the app can continue adding better features in the future. I’m happy we at least look like we have a working app this time. Keep it up
Fantastic App. This app is truly one of the best apps related to public services! I’ve been an NJ Transit rider for over thirty years and started using the app as soon as it was available. There have been constant enhancements. Departure vision is incredible! The ability to see how congested a train car is beneficial, especially in the age of COVID. Thank NJ Transit for such a great product. However, if I can make one suggestion, it would be to indicate which car has the restroom.
Inconvenience. The New Jersey transit app is such an inconvenience. Is the bus is supposed to be there at a certain time but the bus comes early then the jersey transit app should allow you to know that the bus is going to be here early I have missed my bus countless of time thinking that it will be there at a certain time and it comes 10 or 15 minutes earlier than what it should have if a lot of people are relying on this app it would be best for the app to update in real time on when the bus should be there is it inconvenient to a lot of people. Fix it.
Improved but still needs work. This app has been vastly improved in it's latest major overhaul. It's now much easier to purchase tickets and I use the electronic tickets now instead of paper ones for my daily commute. Suggestions for future improvements: 1) PLEASE make it so tickets can be activated on the phone without a data connection. Even though I've already purchased the tickets I sometimes forget to activate one before heading underground to the platform where there is no cell service. I imagine most commuters face this situation frequently and this creates frustration for both riders and conductors. 2) Please add a confirmation before activating more than one ticket at a time. I have occasionally activated more tickets than I wanted to because of accidental taps on my phone and those extra tickets were wasted.
Convenient app for your daily commute. Every morning I used this app to purchase my bus ticket. I don’t have to prepare change, put them in separate pocket and don’t have to put the clanging coin in the machine and hold up everybody else for my lack of preparation. I only have to show the bus driver who is very nice and click a button as acceptance of my ticket. The app also showed me the time of my bus ride. And a history of my ride but I don’t use this function. I can imagine that someone will find this function very useful
Latest update got rid of most useful features (May 2026). Bring back the favorites home screen and let us fully customize the order of our favorites. The favorites screen was the most common screen used by frequent commuters. We don’t need an entire page of vague “system status” as the center home screen; have a separate notification screen to look at alerts/statuses. Make a setting to select how arrival times are shown, “7 min” vs “12:00 pm”. When selecting “view map” on a bus stop, the busses should show by default. Fix the filter for bus stops. The list is longer than the view window, and you cannot scroll to reach the top or bottom (PABT stop is worst). The routes should be sorted in some type of way, and should not have separate options for X, T,… lines. Make it so buttons can still be clicked even while the current data is being refreshed. Currently, if there is a slow internet connection, a user cannot back out or manually pull up their ticket until the current data finishes refreshing.
Only NJT can take an AWFUL app and make it WORSE!. So typical of NJT! What moron designed their new useless app? It’s impossible to assign favorite stations, you have to endlessly search to find the stations you need, information about your routes have completely disappeared, labels are completely meaningless (What in the hell does “station skipped“ mean? Apparently it means that the train has been canceled whether is a massive problem take other services such as the PATH which can add hours to the amount of time.) when trains are canceled you were stranded in New York City trying to get home, there are given note instructions as how to get back via PATH to Hoboken, which are listed on the new useless app, and then God knows what happens after that. That seems as if it was designed by a fifth grader.
Monthly Ticket. The app has been worse since the beginning of CoVid it no longer keeps you signed in when you have the monthly pass. You have to resign in to the app then go to the ticket then sign in again and then most times it gives you a flash error and you have to sign in again. It takes forever. It use to be even when you didn’t have service you were still signed into the monthly app. This issue has not gone away with the updated and causes delays especially when there is very little service in the tunnels at Penn station.
Trip tracker feature lacking. I enjoy using the app when riding the NJ Transit system mainly because it’s easy to purchase and show trip tickets. The trip tracker has a quirk in that if you are already on your train and haven’t opened the trip tracker for that particular trip, there’s no way to go to it. Searching for trips only brings up the next scheduled trains. I’ve looked everywhere in the app to no avail. It would be good if the feature could be added to find the station tracker for trains that one is currently on. Thank you.
Quick Buy. Overall a very good app. I do have one request. Can you add a delete function for the Quick Buy menu? Its nice to buy my tickets through that menu as it is quick and I don’t need to run through the whole process of selecting origin and destination but every time I get a ticket for an out of the ordinary trip it clutters this menu. I would like to have just tickets I frequently use on this menu. It would be nice if I could customize it.
Worst “upgrade” ever. The new app upgrade feels like a massive downgrade. It honestly feels like we went backwards five years in usability and design. I genuinely do not understand who approved this redesign. The old app already had issues, but somehow this version is even more cumbersome and harder to navigate. The user experience is terrible HORRID. DepartureVision/departures used to be one of the most useful and accessible features in the app, and now it feels buried behind multiple layers of trip navigation just to find basic train information. Everything takes more clicks, more steps, and more effort than it should. And I work in technology. This is not a case of someone struggling to adapt to a new interface. This is objectively poor UX design. The app feels clunky, overcomplicated, and far less intuitive than the previous version and the previous version was bad but at least slightly better- emphasis on slightly. This “upgrade” is a huge FAIL and makes me even more frustrated to know the people helped paid for this trash. Do better NJT.
Terrible App. Outside of normal working days, no information on this app is accurate. At port authority in nyc, it shows the wrong gates for buses. On days with adjusted schedules, never rely on the information on this app. Apps should be an easy way for operators to feed schedule and gate changes, but NJ Transit doesn’t care about the confusion and wasted time is causes for its users. (But for a normal workday, I did not have any problems.) Also, sometimes the eticket doesn’t work, and once everyone on my commute line -people who use monthly tickets- had to pay separately for a one-way ticket using apple pay. No apologies or refunds from NJ Transit. I use it because there’s no alternative, but definitely tons of room for approval.
New update is HORRIBLE. The most recept update of this app is absolutely atrocious and completely unnecessary. TERRIBLE. This app accounts for walking in the allotted time for the commute when it is not needed, and there is no way to turn it off without the app giving an error message, so it makes a 30 minute trip look like a 1 hour and 20 minute trip. It used to be easier to see the stops of trips. Now it is such a pain to do. Having to put in a specific date and time to see upcoming schedules shouldn’t be necessary. It should just show all of the upcoming departures from the moment you check regardless of what day it currently is. IF SOMETHING ISN’T BROKEN, DO NOT FIX IT. LEAVE IT ALONE!
Ok, but cumbersome to use. This app does what it’s suppose to do but user interface doesn’t make it easy. When I plan my trip I use Trip Planner feature because I need to factor in available connections in Secaucus. Trip Planner is hidden in obscure place of UI. More over, I have to type same trip all over again each time because it doesn’t save them. Also, Trip Planner doesn’t show what gate my train is at so I have to switch back to department vision. This app would also greatly benefited from Live Activities that would track your trip, show the track and train # and a ticket itself when necessary, just like United and other airlines do!
Fatal Bug Due to Apostrophe. Fix immediately.. I’m trying to set a route 165 bus stop as one of my favorites by tapping the gray star at the upper right corner of that bus stop’s status screen. The star never turns yellow and the bus stop never appears in my favorites. This same happens for the other bus stops that have an apostrophe (for “feet”) in their names like “Jefferson St 100’ E of Main St”, “Kinderkamack Rd 100’ N of Old Hook Rd,” etc. This bug doesn’t happen for bus stop names that don’t have an apostrophe. Your system is confused by the apostrophe. Please fix immediately.
NJ Transit is a joke. I love the option of “giving a review” as if a good or bad opinion means anything to this quasi-public organization. It is interesting to note that on this Saturday evening home literally every aisle that offers ticket machines was barricaded off, thus forcing patrons to buy tickets on their mobile phones. The “hard working” (neutered) police officers of Penn Station claim the barricades are to “quell the homeless issue we are dealing with”. I fully understand that the life of a NYC police officer (whether it be NYPD, MTA, or Amtrak) has become nothing more than that of a crossing guard so I put none of this on them. I just find it absolutely disgusting that we are still expected to pay full price for a train ticket home when we are literally unable to buy a paper ticket.
Display Problems. App works great but this is the first time I had ever had an issue but my bus pass isn’t displaying properly. It’s only showing the month, QC box and a portion of the date, time and remaining time of pass usage. It doesn’t show the lower flashing bar which operators use to verify the authenticity of your pass. Hopefully this can be resolved because I don’t want to have to continue purchasing one way passes when I already have a monthly pass.
Ridiculous. I’m not really sure you are only allowed to log into a device with one account. My dad bought me a ticket on the train and I tried to log into his account to access the ticket and it wouldn’t allow me to so I had to pay for a brand new ticket. The system needs to change. To start you should be allowed to buy a ticket with a credit card like every single other train I’ve ever been on. You should also be allowed to log into more than one account on a device. So people don’t get accused to theft and kicked off the train like I did
Needs serious update. App is helpful and buying tickets in app convenient but it has been crashing a lot in the past couple months. Cannot ‘favorite’ a specific train number/schedule nor check status without it crashing and closing. It has done this sure ticket interaction too. With the newest Apple IOS update, the NJ Transit app really must have an update to match ASAP. ALSO…your rewards program is useless. It offers nothing in a person’s sights of normal NY to NJ to use a discount or coupon towards. 🙄🤷🏻♀️🤔
Please add this update :(. This is a great app, makes it very easy to find the times for the bus and location but even though this app has been helpful and works very well theres just one thing I wish it had which is showing the exit for buses in port authority, like if there was some way that everytime I checked for the bus times to leave from NY to NJ from port authority and the app telling me which exit the bus will be, only because the directories in port authority are never accurate or dont ever show the exit and youre lost looking. Other than that, great app.
Great little app!. I’m from Texas and we drive everywhere, so taking a bus is just not something I do in my normal day. But I was staying in NJ so I needed the bus or go broke using a car service. I found the app amazing. Told me exactly where the buses are, if they are full or empty, and most of all I could buy tickets. I didn’t use the other features like light rail or train, but the bus segment of the app was a game changer by saving time and money.
awful app somehow worse than PATH’s. looking for a night out in nyc? well look no further for transportation there with the njtransit app! it’s got everything (that will stop you dead in transit) — the slowest connectivity despite your phone’s 5g, zero (0) notifications about even the most basic service outage leaving you stranded at a train station, a requirement to activate your ticket even when you don’t have service, a horrible UI that REFUSES to tell you what bus line to take, occasionally taking your payment without giving you a ticket. if all that sounds disappointing, keep in mind that fares have gone up yet again despite no improvement to train performance nor frequency increases!
Can’t login in a different time zone. I don’t get why NJ Transit would want to prevent people not in or near New Jersey from looking up old order tickets. The app gives a weird error message saying, “Incorrect device date & time. Please check and enable the Auto Date & Time settings on your device before proceeding.” Whatever policy or liability reason they felt the need to do so, they should change it. I’m trying to expense my business trips. I deducted two stars from the app for this difficulty.
