Irresponsible. The app my be fine but the news agency behind it is incredibly irresponsible. Plastering faces and names up far and wide without any regard to the effect it has on those people and their families lives. Nevermind that the second you put charged with all people think is guilty. It’s a shame. The stress it causes. The torment and paranoia it fosters in a soul not knowing who has seen it and who is looking at them. Judging. Deciding their guilt based on a picture and a headline. Fox 8 isn’t the only network that is guilty of this they jus happen to be. Who I’ve seen first. I will no longer support a network that destroys for the sake of headlines or viewership. I will no longer support a network through their apps. You should really think about effects beyond your news room walls before you do the things you do.

Crashes and other things. This app is always crashing. It will also post breaking news and as soon as you click on it the link takes you to a blank page or to the home page where you cannot find the article until some time later. Today was the last straw when I was trying to watch a live broadcast and there was no sound. I flipped over to the competition and didn’t have any trouble with sound or anything else. I like FOX8 but I hate this app

Fake ad by Christian Castillo. Fox 8 just ran the fake ad against Mark Walker again! When are you going to air a retraction of Christian Castillo’s false advertisement and quit running the advertisement.

App crashes all the time. Horrible app. Can’t read anything without it crashing or freezing. I would hire a new company to work on this app because the one you are using is terrible

FOX8 app is great. None of those troubling adds before or in between the news story. Love it.

Pop ups. Takes forever to load because of constant pop ups on screen.

Best News App. Fox8 has the best news app. It gives me the current happenings in national and local news. They give you the information you need and do it in a non-biased professionally reported journalistic style. I depend on the Fox8 news app and the Fox8 Weather app to help get me through the day.

Was good. App was good after two updates it’s bad. The text is much too large and takes too long to scroll through. Thought the second update would fix that but it didn’t. Now I never finish the news story. Change it back.

Freeze & Crash. Great station, but app has steady history of freezing and/or crashing.

Where is the NEWS?. Have checked the app all weekend and the same stories are running on the main feed. WHERE IS THE NEWS OF THE ACC TOURNAMENT??? NC State plays against UNC and not a peep on tuis app even in the sports section. Shame on you fox 8!

Absolute disaster. New version is worthless. MyFox8 used to be my go to news. New version will not open even though I have 2020 iPhone and newest iOS. Deleted and reinstalled, tried everything.

Becoming a typical click capturing App. Local news is interspersed with national news, some stories days old. Confusing! Recent news, local and national, is often placed way down the page, a sophomoric attempt to get the reader to view more stories with more advertising in them. Advertising is imbedded in most stories. I’ve found that when stories are repeated you should choose the second story as it has little or no advertising.

Up-to-date news. Love Katie Nordeen. Better news than WXII. If I want to find out what’s going on in W-S, Fox has it. Thanks Fox.

Freeze, Crashes and Nickname Taken. App constantly freezes and crashes. Frustrating. Review nickname is taken brought down to one star.

Please fix my news app!!!. I used to love this app, which is why I’m giving it the three stars, but lately, it won’t work at all! I get notifications all the time, but when I click on them, I get nothing!! When I just go into the app, I get nothing, just a black screen… o have to go and search it on the website, so what’s the point of the app?? And then sometimes, when it was actually working, it wouldn’t even take you to the actual story you clicked on from the notifications… fix this ASAP!!!

Beware - redirects to unwanted ads. I’ve uninstalled it. Used to be a great app, but they’ve started embedding ads underneath the thumbnails for articles. You think you’re tapping on an article, but it redirects to a web page for an ad?! You can tell because the same news article will be listed twice. Only the second one is legit. Used to be a very good source for local news. Not any more!

No longer worth having. Used to be a good app to get your local news. Now, it’s terrible. Full of ads, and glitchy. Hard to read the news, and find anything. If you are into ads this is the app for you. If not, I would avoid. I quit using their app. Terrible now.

New format is awful. Not sure why you changed the way the app was but it is awful now. Liked the old way much much better.

Crashes consistently.. I've had issues in the past with the app freezing but this was minor for the most part. After the last round of updates the app only opens one out of 10 times. Logo appears then it crashes. I've deleted and reinstalled. Still crashes. I've reset my phone, still crashes. I've all but give up on it.

Morning news. The local newspaper is printed too early to include sports scores so I rely on your site for my morning updates

Crashes way too often. This app has started crashing several times a day now.

Not updated and closes frequently. The app is not updated regularly over the weekends. News is not up to date. I have also found that since the last update the app closes frequently on its own and has to be reopened.

Could be better..app issues. Every time I open this app, within five minutes it’s rendered useless and I have to force close it and start over. It consistently freezes up. I love my fox 8 and they are my go to new station. I thought maybe an update would fix this but it’s been consistent for a year now. Even deleting and reinstalling doesn’t alter the outcome. Someone please fix it!

Share buttons not working. I like this app, but the share buttons are not working for me. Please fix.

Don’t like new format. After using the MyFox 8 app for the last few years, I have changed over to another local news app because I don’t like the new version. It’s repetitive with stories, hard to read, and the pop ups are worse than ever.

Needs work, Work on Accuracy. During the Covid-19 time, have found the numbers that are reported are not consistent with NC DHHS. Looks like sensationalism is running the editing room. People need news that is accurate! I agree with other reviews that refer to issues with too many ad’s and ad’s that weaves into various stories. Many of these are pure SPAM and are dangerous.

Advertisers paradise, users nightmare.. Lately when I use app and read stories reported some pop up advertising ad comes up and I cannot read story. Advertisement doesn't have a close x location. I have to go back to main page 2-3 times before I can finally read story. Same ad keeps popping up. Deleted app and reloaded. Same thing.... Arrrggghhhh.... Guess Fox8 getting paid well from advertising.....

My Fox 8. I have never had to send a review but now. I have the new iPhone 12 Max Pro. Every time I log out at night then log back in, My Fox 8 app will not work. The Fox 8 logo comes up but that is as far as it goes. I delete the app reinstall it and it works! I love the app and having to do this is getting tiring!

New Up/downgrade. This used to be my go to app for news. Since the “upgrade” that was forced upon users, the app sticks, stutters, and is so annoying that I will be deleting it and moving to a different news provider. It’s a shame because I have been a loyal viewer and user until now...

Freeze Frame. Nice apps to keep up on the current local news, but the screen freezes/fails often with the iPhone. As do the videos.

Latest update ruined the app. The latest update has ruined this app. Every story has a photo or video that takes up 90% of the ipad screen making it almost impossible to read the news.

Why do I keep this app. I have had this app for years now. In the past it has been somewhat good. The past few months this app is frustrating. There has been a few updates recently. Since the updates, the app either crashes or freezes 100% of the time. Please take the time to fix all the issues.

My review. Is i love the news 2 app but t miss the voting on different things they use to have u to vote e on. But other then that l love it it keeps me up with the news.

Poor App. It is slow to download because of all the videos attached to the story. Even if continue reading is selected on the story, it won’t let you read until the video is downloaded. I do not see the need for videos with every story. The app does not update with current stories, especially on weekends. That leads you to believe nothing else is happening.

Local News. Hey Developers, app starts with “Start Local Stay Local”, then after 5-8 Local News Stories there’s national stories mixed in, Please create another tab or something, that’s very irritating, National news is important too, but shouldn’t be mixed with local news, especially considering your “Start Local Stay Local” Theme!

Such potential. Browsing the app's content is decent and better than the other local news apps as far as content. What brings it down to a three star is the ever annoying notifications they consider breaking news, which is the only one I have set. For instance, just now got an alert on a video of a wood carving artist. How the heck is that breaking news??? I unchecked video updates, which is what this is.

Terrible. This new version of the app is downright awful. I used to love getting my news from Fox 8, but the app is so glitchy and swarmed with so many ads that is is practically impossible to get any actual news from it. Like another recent reviewer, I am also switching to another local news app. Can not imagine how anyone would think this is an improvement.

Bad update. Since the app has been updated, have fail to update the app and cannot see anything but add my weather location. I can’t scroll or down at all on my iPhone. I have uninstalled and reinstalled and shutdown my phone and still have the same results. I like the app before this issue and I love to see this issue fixed.

Easy to use!. Very convenient and easy to use. Some apps you have to find the alert once it is displayed. This app makes it easy to follow the top stores including the weather.

Live Streaming. This app does what I've been waiting for in this market - live streaming of newscasts. The content is relevant and updated often. Nice job!

Terrible Ap. This so called upgrade for iPad and iPhone is awful. Can't use landscape, crashes the iPad and the iPhone app is so busy with ads and graphics it's hard to even see the news articles. You really need to revisit this "upgrade" because this is one user who is moving to the other news apps that work great with the Apple products.

Crashes all the time. I have an iPhone X and I'm on the latest update and this app constantly crashes on me.

Needs a lot of work. It gets really frustrating when I am trying to read an article and the whole app just freezes. I close out and try to go back and it won't load. I also hate the fact that the ads pop up so much and I don't even have to touch my screen and it will automatically pull up the ad at the bottom or take me to the App Store to get it. This app needs a lot more work and as it stands, I wouldn't recommend to anyone. Sorry but get it fixed please. The old one worked much better

Pop up ads make it a failure. Ads have been an issue for some time and I've slowly used this app less and less. Today I had to delete it - tried to read one article and the ads were relentless - blocking text, redirecting, freezing the screen. Most likely won't add it back again but I hope it gets fixed for other users.

App freeze. The app freezes on iOS 13.1.2. Please fix!

Very infomational. This app is great! You have new stuff to read every day! You can also look at old stories. They have videos, pictures, Facebook. All that! Get this , it is worth it!!!!!

Old was better. This App was the reason I changed my App update settings from automatic to manual. When I first opened the new App I was so disappointed I restored my phone from an old backup just so I could have the old App. Unfortunately, the they stopped updating the old App and forced me to update to the new App, I don't like it. They had the best news App of the three local news before the update, but I feel that WXII has the best local news App now.

My Fox 8. This is my local news as a professional truck driver and I love being able to keep up with what's going on at home! I love the local personalities and feel like they're family!

Had to delete.... The new app would crash and the format is terrible for an iPad...unfortunately had to delete the app...liked the old version better.

Unusable garbage. Horrible unusable garbage. The ads they serve take so many resources that the articles never load. It’s been like this for 6+ months, worthless

New app font. The new font stinks. It is way to large and will not allow you to adjust but two sizes. Fix the fonts.

Crash King. This app is terrible. The content is ok but you can't access it. It won't scroll and crashes almost every time you use it. I've tried to contact them through email for support to see if there are any fixes but got no reply. I've deleted it and reloaded but it changed nothing. Was my go to app for local new for a long time but too frustrating to bother with anymore.

Not loving this new version. Update: App keeps crashing while I try to read a story. Hate it. Original: I don't like the format, pictures are fine, but I want a list of stories to click on where I can view multiple stories at once. Not scroll through all the pictures. Also, I tried sharing a story and used your Facebook/Twitter icons and it only shared the photo from the story and not the story. I may delete. Undecided.

This app is incredible!. We begin by tapping and opening the app. The Fox 8 logo appears for a couple of seconds and then the top news stories load. Sounds alright. Wait..... about 10 seconds after the stories have loaded, the app comes to a freeze. We can't even close the app until it unfreezes, which it will within 30 seconds or so. Alright, we are past the glitchy freezey thing. So we tap a story we would like to read. Now come the ads. All apps and websites have them, no problem right? Well, a lot of these ads block the story until you tap the ad to open a browser window. Ok, we got the ad viewed and we are on the story about "amazing video captured". Oh, but wait. There is a story about the "amazing video", but no video.....hmmm. Ok, we just pick another story, go through the ad thing again, and.....Bam, the whole app closes. This is such an awesome app!

Pop up ads and random shut downs. I like the stories, when I get to see them. I can't get through the top new articles without at least half of them shutting down the app completely or having a pop up ad appear that won't go away. Every update seems to make these problems worse. It's easier to just go to the website of the browser than to fight with the app.

Works somewhat. App does most what it says but FOX 8 seems to have an ongoing problem with live streaming. The video is fine but whether on a browser or in this app, sooner or later the audio distorts and then runs a few seconds behind the video so it's out of sync. Fix that and make the app look a little better and I'll rate 5 stars.

Awesome!. I love this app it keeps me updated all the time with any news updates, alerts, weather, and more! I love how you can set in the settings to have it alert you with things you would like it to to keep you updated with what's going on out in the world.

App Needs Improvement. The new Fox8 app is decent, but the ads needs to be less prominent. And I don't like the fact that ads populate a move to the App Store by themselves without even clicking on them. Sitting here reading a news story, then my phone jumps to the App Store for some random app, that is not even on screen in need apps. You need to fix these things, otherwise I will find another way to get my news locally.

Please fix this!!!. Like all things with Fox news, they are going to ignore all the bad feedback and just continue to screw up the app. This app is horrible. The old one wasn't that bad and was at least usable. You could pull up more than 10 stories on it and see older ones, but you can't do it with this one. I doubt they'll fix it, but I really hope they do. The good news is there are plenty of other news apps out there.

Pop ups - pop ups - and more pop ups. I'd give it zero stars if I could. I love Fox News but their app is crap. I scroll down the news section and it opens up Safari to some bizarre home page of an OS X app. I click on a news story and it launches the App Store to some weird app selection. Seriously folks, you are supposed to be providing us a legitimate media source and instead we get this nonsense.

live streaming doesn't work with voiceover. Just like the last several versions, live streaming will not work with voice over on IOS I'm totally blind so I depend on voice over so that I can read the screen and interact. However,if I click on the place that says play with voiceover the app will not stream, same result with any local tv llc apps I'd really love to be able to hit the play button and watch news from my favorite channel again. Also, the five tabs and the app are not labeled it all so a blind user has to guess as to what they are. And the play button does not work with voiceover. Please make this app accessible to all and I will be glad to change my rating!

Greatly preferred the old app. This new app doesn't appear to work in landscape mode, which is the mode that I typically use on my iPad. The old app worked in landscape. The old app offered a list of multiple headlines to choose from, this app has a few stories displayed under the "Top News" category with large, half-screen-filling pictures accompanying the headlines -- I much prefer seeing the headlines listed out for access at a glance, as opposed to being forced to scroll through 5 or 6 giant graphics on a few items. Please return the old format. This one -- I don't care for.

Needs much work. The TV station is a good channel. The app needs a lot of work to be good. Information is put out often after the other networks. The biggest problem is that the app keeps trying to open after it already has. You can read the start of an article about three times and never get to the end.

Fox8 app. Best news app! Love it!

Unfortunate bc I love WGHP. I thought my phone had a glitch, but after reading the recent reviews I realized that others are having the same problems with pop-up ads, sudden shut downs, etc. The "free IPhone 7 offers" are particularly annoying. I have to believe that these pop-ups compromise the security of my device. I hope you guys can fix the app bc I prefer Fox 8 WGHP over the other local stations. However, for now,I feel like I am being forced to delete this app and go to another local station.

I am giving up!!!!. This is my 3rd review and I am giving up! The update did NOT help!! The bugs are still there because the App keeps crashing!! Very aggravating! Agree with other users about the annoying tendency to take you to App Store while you are in the middle of an article.......that is if the article will stay open long enough for you to even get to the middle.

Great App. A great app from what is-- by far-- the best TV news station in the Triad. The competition doesn't even come close: the first with live streaming, no "junk" pushes...I could go on. No wonder this the leading app from the same people who put together the #1 news website in the Piedmont.

Ads have just become too much. I used to love this app but now the ads cover the entire page and you can't X out of most of them. Abuse of the advertisement for free app system. And the ads never stop! Charge for the app or at least have an option to purchase for ad free viewing. For now I would not recommend downloading it. It's a waste of time until they make a serious change.

AWESOME UPGRADE!!. I absolutely LOVE the new upgrade (or new app for those who haven't downloaded before)!!!! Easier to navigate & much, much more informative. App is more modern & competitive with other News stations. Way to stay "one step above" the competition!!

New setup. I hate whatever was done to improve myfox8 iPad set up. It is definitely not an improvement. I may have to choose another news channel if this is the setup we are left with !!!

Horrible new app. If I could rate it less than one star, I would. I used to leverage this app on a daily basis but the new design is not iPad friendly. Why you would have an app that only displays in portrait mode is beyond me. Even with live streaming there is a tremendous amount of white space not being utilized. I would suggest replacing your core focus group on what should be considered an enhancement with a media application.

Seriously. This app makes me angry every single time I use it. As much as I love the Fox 8 family and local news I am going to delete this app. I cannot see news stories or read them without the screen freezing, getting booted off or blacking out. Had enough, time and time again, I kept telling myself with each new update, well maybe this time it is finally fixed.....nope......

New app stinks!!. I agree with the first review. I hate how the App Store keeps opening up while reading. I do t like how you can't see the 7 day weather forecast all at once. It should have it at once and individually if you choose to click on each day. Bring the old one back please... And where do you find the older news should you miss reading for a few hours?

Actually, zero stars. I hate the new App. Hate hate hate that when l am reading a story, suddenly there's a game app for sale. I sent 2 emails to them about it and no reply. So l did the only thing l knew to do - deleted the app. Maybe if they improve it, I'll add it back but for now, will use the WXII app, which l also despise, but at least it doesn't randomly direct me to the Apple Store. Whose idea was this anyway????

Crashes every 10 sec. I prefer Fox 8 for local news, weather, and info. Use to be "ok" with the app. However, there are pop up ads very regular while you're in the middle of reading an article, some you could not close (just kept popping up) and couldn't even finish the story! Good news is, I don't get the pop up ads anymore... because it CRASHES EVERY 10 SECONDS!!!! There isn't enough time to load an ad!

What is up with the pop-ups and re-directions?. I really like the Fox 8 app, and I've used it for years. Since the last update, though, I've been plagued by pop-up boxes and re-directions to random websites and various apps in the Apple app store, without my having done anything more than starting to read an article. It's quite frustrating. I may have to stop using the Fox 8 app at all of this continues. Update: The pop-ups have actually gotten worse. Now, there are loud, unexpected video ads that start as I'm reading articles or closing them. Bad move, Fox 8! I'm going to delete the app. Update February 2018: I had reinstalled the app and found a lot of improvements. I’ve used it for a long time this time, but there are still some “bugs”. There is a “ratings” link that leads you to send an email to tell how the app could be improved, but the email simply can’t be sent. The “send button” does nothing. I’ve added my reply here, since I’ve taken the time to type it, only to find that the company doesn’t care enough to provide a valid link to make suggestions. Here’s my response: Opening some articles leads to viral “YOU’VE WON A PRIZE” pop-ups that you cannot close in order to read the article. Also, some of the paid advertising is obscene. There was one ad box advertising something about enhancing “your Johnson” (yes, it used those words). I could really do without those, and I’ve actually deleted the app in the past due to similar issues. I’m seeing fewer pop-ups than before, but it really seems that there shouldn’t be ANY on a professional news app.

Best in the Piedmont!. The new Fox 8 app is the greatest! Very easy navigation. Not a lot of extraneous stuff to get in the way of getting to what's important. The app is stable; I have never had a shut down or crash. The features load quickly, stories are easy to preview and then read when necessary. The ability to watch the news broadcast live is one of my favorite features. When traveling, we will have the ability to watch live news from our area! The weather section so awesome with local and national options with great features for radar viewing. Again, the simple layout and simple navigation gets my vote over any other local news apps! I don't need the glitter - just the info and Fox 8 provides just that! Any advertisements are non-intrusive meaning they are there but do not interfere with the viewing experience and the advertising is minimal! I would recommend this new app to everyone! I'm a big iPad user and this app beats them all!
