Just another phrase book app.. This app is just another form of a phrasebook. Most of the free apps that I've seen are just this. They do not teach basic sentence structure or the basic pronunciations of the different sounds. I was looking at being able to learn Chinese not learn a few basic phrases.

Va25-2Life. Great for small phrases. I would love to get the pro version but I'm too broke

Super helpful. I love the apps from this developer. They've given me a great base in several languages. It's worth getting the payed version if you're traveling around China. It adds more sentences/vocabulary to each category. But the free version is fantastic.

Great but..... I love this app...well LOVED. I accidentally deleted it and now I try to download it off iCloud but it keeps telling me to update it but every time I press the update button, it doesn't work and keeps saying you have to update the app to purchase it. Please fix it, other than that, it is a great app. Xie xie!

Learn Chinese. It would be nice to be able to type in words and sentences for translation.

Ok. Somewhat worthless for Taiwanese mandarine. Many of the words are different and you will end up speaking like one of the loathed mainland tourists

Great app, needs more though. In my own opinion, I think this app is great, especially for those who are just starting out. It is easy to hear and understand the pronunciation and you can even slow it down if need be. The only suggestion I have for the app is for it to be updated with more content. I am about to go China and I am studying mandarin and this app is really helpful. I just wish that it had more phrases that I could learn.

Pretty Good. Seems to be pretty good. I'm not a fluent speaker, but, it sounds like they're saying everything fairly correct. What do I know? I'm the one who needs the app.

So helpful IN China. I went to China for a month, barely knowing the language other than a failed attempt at Rosetta Stone and some flash cards. This app helped me get by in restaurants, ordering train tickets and relating to people. By the end of my trip, my boyfriend would ask,"Have your phone thingy?" because it was so CLUTCH! A must! And make sure to use the favorite section.

Useful. Fun to learn how to speak Chinese and very useful

Incredible ap! Easy peasy, totally worth the upgrade!. I just returned from a six week trip to China, where I used this ap on the daily to order food, get medicine from pharmacies, converse with local non-English speaking hosts, bargain with street market vendors, hire private drivers and taxis, and attempt to learn some Mandarin. Before my trip, I was told by "local experts" on Trip Advisor that I wouldn't be able to travel around western and rural China without hiring a native speaker, as translation services are so unreliable for the Mandarin language. But they were so wrong! This ap was all I needed, with the exception of only a handful of Pleco uses over the course of the six weeks. Seriously. This ap is amazing for the off the beaten patch traveler, as I was able to practice phrases en route to destinations, and when my pronunciation was off, locals simply looked at my iPad and read the Chinese characters or pinyin. The best part is no internet connection or data is required, which was a lifesaver, as China internet is slow and spotty and wifi is not as ubiquitous as it is in the US and Western Europe. Other travelers were awe struck to see this ap in action and wrote down the name of it to download upon wifi connection. Cheers to these developers! What smarties!

Saved me already.... I used this app extensively on a 10-day trip to Beijing...happy to have it again for my return trip. Helpful is the least positive adjective I can think of. Love this app. Great job folks!

AWESOME. This is an awesome app nd u think everyone should use it if they want to learn Chinese mandarin! I just got it two days ago nd I know how to say "I don't eat eggs" and "coffee"

Good resource!. I have been studying basic manderin for about 5 months now a this app helps a lot with tons of useful everyday phrases, the only problem I have is the lack of proper voicing of the phrases the guy sounds like a robot not a natural speaker. But overall good app.

Good app. So far it seems helpful although I have used it little. The wording and pronunciation seem decent and it could be useful if needing quick translations

Xiexie! Love it.. Thank you! Love this app. I just upgraded to the paid version. I use a few other Mandarin apps, but this one seems to have the easiest interface to use. It doesn't really help with learning to discern tones, but there are other good apps for that. I definitely recommend it for quick and easy access for learning phrases or quick reminders.

Not bad. I am trying to learn Chinese so I downloaded as many mandarin apps as I could I am so glad this one does not require Internet connection

Very accurate. I love this app. It is so easy to use that my 5 year old is able to repeat the words to talk to people here in China. It is the most accurate of all the apps I have tried to use. I can communicate with taxi drivers as well as sales people using this app.

Handy. Overall a nice and handy app. They seem to have fixed some of the more glaring mistakes, though there are still a few errors here and there.

I have something to say. I live in shanghai china and am learning mandarin. I speak reasonable Chinese, at least I speak enough to know that some of these words are wrong. The tones are incorrect on many of the words, and they have misplaced many of the characters in a sentence. The pinyin is what many of the people who buy this app rely on. But are you really learning when what you think is right, is actually wrong? 我 叫 白茱丽

Great pronunciation practice!. It has practical phrases and great for myself as a complete beginner. The repetition and being able to hear each phrase independently as many times as I want helps a ton with pronunciation. Also I like that the voice is male so as most Chinese resources I've come across are female and with other languages I've noticed it can cause a male to sound feminine.

Good, but can be improved.. I really like this app, but I noticed that the word for zero “Líng” sounded kind of weird. The problem is that it seems to add an extra syllable, causing it to sound more like “lí-ung” instead of “líng” but overall, this is a good app.

Superb. This is one of the best language tools I've come across. These are actual conversations you'll use on a day-to-day basis. It's so good they have a real person voice instead of a robot!

You need it. This app saved me in Beijing. Don't know how to talk to the cashier or waiter? Listen to how to say things a few times right before you walk into the door or up to the register ~ need to talk to the taxi driver but don't know how? Show him what you're trying to say. You're lost? Practice the phrases before walking up to someone and asking for help. Don't worry! It also works without wifi ~ This was a life saver on multiple occasions during my study abroad in China.

Great and useful phrases even without buying the premium package with a full list of topics. The phrases are helpful--both transliterated and in Simplified Chinese--but my one wish is that the recordings were pronounced a bit slower to make it easier for complete beginners to acquire an accurate accent. Great app. This app is a great language app. You can always learn chinese on the go or at home with this app. Its really a must if your going to china.

Just okay. It's pretty limited in what it offers. The food section e.g. is just a dictionary of food terms, not very helpful.

Really useful. I used this app in a part of China where there in zero English and it really helped me out. To be able to listen to the words without a data connection was awesome. When speaking Chinese getting the sounds right is everything and this program taught me to do so. I also love the Fav's function that made accessing the words or phrases you wanted instantly. I brought the pro version and it was well worth it.

Ok.. Yeh it's ok. Theres a few spelling mistakes w pinyin. And could use a few more useful phrases, and maybe conversational replies. But overall pretty ok.

Learning Mandarin. Learn Chinese app is super amazing, it gives you the pronunciation in Mandarin for most useful words and phrases.... Invaluable as you need to be able to speak a little Mandarin to get anywhere in this country!!!! ::)

Incredibly Versatile. I tried other translation-type apps but they were too problematic. This Learn Chinese Mandarin was very helpful and fun to use on my last trip to Beijing. Put common or useful phrases into Favourites, play them over for practice, or just play them live. Great.

Great Help!. This is one if my favourite apps to help me learn the language. It would be better if I had the option to choose a female speaker, and the option to slow the words down even more. Everything else is great and it is most worthy of my time!! :)
