Excellent resource!. This is an excellent tool to track the location of the sun or moon at a particular location for different days of the year. I have several locations saved so I can easily check the changing light. The information about the moon phases is also very helpful. I wouldn’t be without this app.

I use this app all the time. This is a really useful app. I find my self using it almost for every shoot. Especially when I am not familiar with area I am going to shoot in .... knowing where the light is going to be at a specific time for a specific location is priceless.

Can't function without it. Extremely happy with the app. I use it every time I go out for landscape photos

Good on iPad, does not work on iPhone. This works great on my iPad but does not work on my iPhone. I can’t get to go to or search for a specific location. It will only work with current location

Awesome!. Has been a wonderful tool in my light painting photography!

Perfect for my real estate photos!. I can tell when the best time will be for the perfect exterior shots of my listings. Simple to use and an invaluable tool in my marketing arsenal.

Great app. I use this app for real estate photography. It’s great for timing optimum light to emphasize architectural highlights. A must have for any real estate professional and architectural photographer.

Very helpful for photo shoots. I use this app for preparing for weddings and engagement shoots. For pre-scouting a location on site, I will use a sun compass to know exactly where the sun is going to be at a particular time. Extreme helpful.

Excellent App. As a photographer, I have been using this app for many years. It is very easy to use and incredibly accurate for anticipating the phase and location of the rising moon

Great App!. This app is a must-have tool for any serious photographer. Multiple uses for landscape, architectural, and other forms of photography where an understanding of natural light is important.

#1. Great app, allows you to plan ahead and be ready for the best light!

One most used photography apps on iPad. Use this to find sun up or moon locations when scouting places for pictures. It is amazing how fast the sun sets if you are in the wrong position. Great app!

Great App. Very cool app, provides more information than I was looking for, but everything else was some kind of an advertising scam. This is a great sunrise sunset shadow and angles software

An indispensable tool. This application is in continual use by us and is by far the best we have encountered. A big THANK YOU to the developer. This tool helps our business to be successful.

Fantastic app for planning for where the natural lighting will be.. This is a fantastic app for knowing where the natural lighting will be. Super easy to understand and to use. Obviously extremely useful for photography lighting choices, but has many other uses as well. At any day / time of the year you can figure out where the sun will be shining, inside and out. This is great for interior design, including wall, drapery and furniture color choices, to placement of various furniture and activities within a room. Planning a wedding for next June, make sure the Bride and Groom are neither squinting, nor in the shade. This app showed us just how good our guesses were for where we placed shade trees on the south side of our house after moving in. Next time, we won’t have to guess - we can figure out exactly where will be best. Great for pool and sun-dependent landscaping choices. Great for architects to get a quick idea of how they might site their building, well before getting into too much building detail or spending bucks doing full annual computer sun simulations. Great for HVAC Contractors and Engineers (me) for doing initial airflow balance planning. Great for astronomy buffs and general science nerds!! Helps me know when I can expect to let my cabin-fevered cats out on the back deck in early spring. Love it! Will support this app forever!! Thanks!!

Very useful for Landscape Photographers. I have been a large format photographer for almost 20 years and found this app to be very helpful in planning my photo shoots....it not only gives you information about the sun's position, but also moon info...and satellite shots so you can anticipate your day (or evening)

Works as advertised!. Great app. I use this every week.

Indispensable. This app is a must when shooting architecture. Been using it for years to plan my shoots. Clean, straight-forward interface makes it easy. Two thumbs up!

LightTrac. Wonderful tool to show clients sun path for each location.

LightTrac App. LightTrac is a very useful application that we use in our business to help us with locating Solar arrays. In just a few minutes we can determine the best location for the system throughout the year. The App is also very useful in planning photo shoots for best light. Thank you LightTrac for making my job easier. E Hill, CEO Mechanical and Electrical Contractor.

Excellent app.. I love this app. I use it all the time in my photography work. I count on it to show me exactly where the sun or moon will be exactly any place I am. It works great. I highly recommend this app to anyone who is looking for an app to help them while chasing the light. Day or night!

Tool for photographers. I use LightTrac to see where the sun is and at what angle for photo shoots at different times of the day. It has definitely helped with the planning. I have also used it when family members were going to build a house and hey wanted to see where the sun would be at various times of the year.

Great tool. This App helps me with my planning. Many times I'm several miles away from my the area I want to shoot. This app helps me figure the best times to shoot. Works great when trying to determine the best day to photograph the moon especially when you want a certain composition.

Sun shade. This is a very useful app for the planning of the next outdoor photo shoot. I can locate the environment and the timing of the sun or the moon at any location.

Best Visualizer By Far!. The way in which the solid and moving lines show on the map makes it so easy for everyone to visualize exactly where the sun will be at any given time. Highly recommended!

Light track app. If your an out door photographer you really need this app . Always know where the light is coming from or going to . Perfect, planning, prevents, poor performance.

Fantastic. When taking sunrise or sunset shots, I always check LightTrac, to see which is the best angle. This app is a must have

Best solar tracking.. Love this app. Great interface and easy to use.

Did the devs give up?. This app would be great if it was useable. I’m not sure if the devs gave up and stopped updated or what but I constantly get a timezone incomparable error when inputting an address- even after deleting and reinstalling. The help page is a 404 error which also seems to suggest this is a forgotten project. Please update! Currently worth zero dollars so avoid until fixed.

Picture Perfection. This is a easy tool for the user to plan those stunning photographs! Making memories with this app is simple, straightforward and a snap. No matter what you're taking pictures with they will be better with LightTrac!

Great App. Use this app for house layouts, gardening and landscaping, daily activity planning and just about anything that involves the sun.

Great app!!. I’ve had this app for years and I’m constantly amazed at how often I use it. In addition to many photography uses, I just did some “what if” experiments to see where the sun would shine in if we installed some new windows in the house. We’ve used it to figure out sun exposure at camping sites and so much more. Great app!

Building Caribbean home to maximize sunrise/sunset view. This tool enabled us to see the sun and moon’s path while buying property on the sea. We are able to plan for views, shade, sun and viewing the reflection of the moon off the sea.

Clunky interface. Difficult to set your current location. There’s a few seconds lag when putting in the location. This used to be the best around but there’s no improvement in this app for many years. The sun tracking feature is hard to follow and not intuitive since you can’t tell the elevation of the sun. Sun Seeker is a much better app.

Zoom is very frustrating. This app was fine at the beginning Now when I zoom out on the frame, at some point, the freaking app decides for me that it’s now time to zoom in!!!!!! Makes the appp extremely inefficient in use of my time

Can't plan a location shoot without it.. My most use non camera app

Love this app!. Very detailed and excellent interface. I use it often.

Great app - I use it regularly. Update - I still really like this app and its simplicity. I have all the other more expensive and complex apps, but I still visit this one first. My previous comments still apply, it would be nice to see a few changes: Still worth it. But would benefit from having buttons, such as locations, more intuitive. Interface still a little clunky and doesn’t seem to take full advantage of later iOS versions. I would be willing to buy it again, I’ve had this app since my first iPad (1).

Easy to learn, easy to use. Update: I first rated this app two years ago. It's still a routine part of my planning process for any outdoor shoot. I love having this tool. This app is quickly becoming part of my pre-shoot prep routine.

Accurate information, very useful.. I use it for photography, screen placement for live events, lots of ways to use the information. Thanks for being so straight forward.

Does everything it promises .... Know exactly when, and in what direction, the sun and moon will rise and set. I am amateur photographer, and I like early morning shots when on vacation. Also sunsets. Can plan my day knowing where I have the cleanest shots, what time I have to be there, and knowing where the light is coming from.

Saves time and effort. I wish I had this app years ago! I’ve saved a lot of guess work on photographic assignments since I purchased it. Well done and accurate. I did a job for an architectural firm at multiple locations around the state and the app was a life saver.

Fast and accurate. This app gives a dependable answer to the question “Where will the sun be at the date, time, and place I want to know about?” Good GUI, fast, accurate, never crashes. Perfect for my niche in photography.

MUST HAVE - indispensable tool for outdoor Photography. Worth every penny. Please continue to improve and add features.

A wonderful app for serious photographers. I've found this app easy to use and exceptionally accurate. It has really helped me in my photography when I'm trying to figure out the best time to revisit a location for better lighting.

Great tool for real estate agents. I use LightTrac when I’m going out to photograph a property. That way I know the right time to get the best photos of the house exterior.

The Best by far!. LightTrac is by far the best way for anyone who wants to envision, actually see, and follow all the details of how the sun effects your home, vacation place, sailboat, or anywhere as the Sun rises in the east (in precise degrees on compass), elevates in degrees, during the day, sets, and the duration of various models of darkness. For anyone interested in the place and environment on land or sea, “Don’t leave home without LightTrac”! Alan from Maine home and waters

Simple and easy to use. Simple and easy to use, wouldn’t do photo shoots outdoors without first checking the location with this app.

Not just a photography app.. This is a great app for anyone who needs to know where the sun (or moon) will be at any given time. It is pricey though, so there should be better support. Better instructions for using the app on its homepage or even video tutorials are the least the developers should do. I upgraded to LightTrac from using the free SunCalc website and am glad I did!

Architecture Design. We use this app for a quick and accurate view to determine new home design aspects. Have used it for years and has proven to be the best for orientation purposes. I felt guilty to not have provided this review prior but better late than never! Thanks to the developers.

Ideal Real Estate. Excellent for all outdoor photography. Great for working out your views before heading to RE job. Cheers Gaz

Very handy app, does what it claims.. 👍👍

Brilliant!. I use this all the time to find the right spot to get the lighting I want in my photographs. It proved its weight in gold for last year's total solar eclipse. I knew exactly where the sun would come up and what would be on the horizon. Great!

Needs an update badly!. I really like this app, but support for it appears to have stopped. It's gone from working perfectly to not working too well at all as later firmware has been released and this app hasn't been updated to suit. I'll have to find another app that's still supported.

Brilliant!!!. Great Ap! Does exactly what it should without any dramas :) Would be nice to see simulated shadows on the map as the sun moves etc though but otherwise highly recommended.

A+ tool,. App helps to plan photo shoots. Let's u know the angle of the sun/moon relative to any spot using a normal map or a google earth style map.

Great product. Great product for landscape photos. Simple and to the point, but everything you want.

Awesome. Invaluable app for any landscape photographer.

Perfect for Real Estate and Architectural. Love it, great App helps out my business immensely!

Perfect tool for photography. I earn my living as a photographer; light is both my friend and fiend. This amazing app., assists in helping me decide whether I should defer to my friend or try and ignore the enemy. And whilst no amount of technology can, or should intercede to tell you when and where to hit the shutter, this little gem of an app., certainly goes a long way to help inform your decision.

Impressed!!. Incredibly handy, but above all, accurate

Great right out of the box. As Finbaz mentioned, this app can be used for probably a dozen other things. It is, however, wonderfully adapted to its original use for photography, and is so, so, useful. Used it to pre-plan where I'd like to be at sunrise at the Taj Mahal - if anything more was required, it was an app to open the gate earlier and thin out the crowd.

Great program. Makes taking photos at the right time

Perfect addition to the camera bag.. I love this app!! I photograph for a few car magazines. This app let's me check the direction and angle of the sun at locations before I travel to them. If I'm photographing a car show and find a potential cover car, I can go through my list of locations and find one that will have the right lighting on the spot. Love it :)

Photographers Dream Tool. Awesome tool when planning shoots!

Very Useful. Great app for photographers and others. Recommended

Lightrac. Very useful when taking photos.

Great app. Use it often. Photogs tool must!

Very Good. I found a recommendation for this app in a photographic magazine and immediately investigated. Reviews were positive so took the plunge and I must say I am impressed. It does exactly what it is supposed to do without any fuss.

Excellent. There are so many ways this can be useful beyond photography, such as calculating best positions for planting trees, placing clothesline, or knowing the effects of other buildings or features, or calculate how to orient things to the rising or setting sun on particular days. And to work out which side of a hotel you would prefer to sleep on depending on the sun. Oh, do stop prattling - there are as many uses as your imagination can play with. Thanks.

Great app. All what is needed for photographer on the field :)

Great app. Does what it says.

Extremely Useful. As a photographer I can plan a shoot anywhere with confidence. Right down to what tree the sun will set behind, at what time. A real time saver. I planned a shoot at a portrait seminar over 2000km away before I even caught the plane.

I Like This. Works well. Will be handy in my travels around Australia.

Dated and crashes.. It still hasn't been updated to the new ios 7/8 style interface. Looks very dated. And crashes a lot, especially on iOS 8. It needs an update with bug fixes at least.

Great App. I find this is a really handy app. Good job

Best of its type. I have a few of these. Some are useless. This has everything on one screen, with a time slider to determine when the morning sun will be just shaving the face of my target building in a street running diagonal to the usual grid. This is what this sort of app needs to offer and this one is spot on. Good light and appy shooting.

Very handy. I use this to check lighting for landscape photos. I also use it to assist with the design of Solar installations for homes

Map zooms in itself. I haven’t used this app for years, and now that I’m trying to use it again; while exploring the map with my fingers (pinching in and out to zoom) the app will just randomly zoom in at its own will. This becomes extremely irritating while trying to explore an area. Apart from that the app is great and it has served me well. Please fix this bug. It makes it impossible to explore. And keep up the good things about the app. Thanks

Find the shot. I use this app all the time for finding a good location for photography.

Great for planning photo shoots. Works well, great set of features.

Very useful. I quite like this for daylight photography and for moonrise photography too!

Awesome app. No complaints here and works in Australia:)

Very useful app. On my recent holiday LightTrac was a valuable asset in being able to determine where to shoot my photos in new locations and to get great shots. Fantastic app!

Powerful, yet easy to use. My go-to app anytime the position of sun or moon matter. Useful for photography and real estate situations

Plan your landscape photos!. Fantastic app to get in the right spot for sunrise / sunset photos.

Great Program. The perfect tool to plan morning and evening photography to catch the golden hour

Brilliant. I am a huge fan of this App. It is really useful for photographers. Never had any technical problems with it. Highly recommended for people who want to know where light is going to fall across a landscape. Guessing that it would be good for architecture and gardening too.

Great for photography. Great app for photography use it most days

Exceptionally useful. An excellent app. Brilliant for planning photo shoots.

A truly great app a must for serious photographers. Definite 5 star

A must for the dedicated outdoor photographer. Absolutely love it. It gets me to the right place at the right time. No more getting up too early or getting there to late.

Awesome App.. This app is amazing. Everything I need to know in one place. Photographers dream.

Great app. Does all it is supposed to and easy to use. I also use it when assessing where the sun will rise at a new property at various times of the year.

The location pin dragging problem. The location pin does not respond at all to drags after a few seconds in my screen. Is that something to be fixed?

Excellent App. Helping me everyday. I am a real estate photographer from TAS-Australia. Can't live without knowing the weather beforehand. Excellent App.

Excellent. The only word needed to describe this app

Excellent. Especially useful when traveling in unfamiliar surroundings. There are PC versions of this app costing a motza!

Very helpful. The first time I used this app was on a recent trip to New Zealand. It gave me the information I need to shoot both sunrise and sunset at various locations. Spot on. Very happy with this purchase.

Fantastic for photographers. This app is something I've been looking for for ages. It's so easy to use. I've saved all my favorites location and now I can very easily see the best times to go there for perfect photos.

Super. Used it in Europe... Helped me secure some of my most beautiful photos.

Multiple Uses. I use this app a lot to determine sun positions for sunrise, sunset and where to anticipate light in terrain. Very easy to pre-plan a photoshoot.

Wonderful App. Very useful.... One of my favorite apps....

Gets the job done. Recommended by a friend, it's a mature app that gets the job done. Easy to explore lines of site and reduce risk of being in a bad spot.

Great app!. One of the better apps out there!

Great app!. Very useful for planning photoshoots.

Super app. Great interface, simple to use. A great app

Fantastique. Idéal pour la planification des excursions photo

Light Tracy. Excellent app! Very useful for astro photography and use it anywhere. So good for travel, allows one to get an idea how the light in a different place and time might be. Cayote

I earn my living with this app!!!. Finally an improvement of the older app Sunlight. Beautiful job works great with my IPhone G3s. The new features work great can wait to use it this summer!

Money well spent!. A must have for any photographer. Very simple and easy to use. Don't leave on a photo trip without it.

Well worth the money. This is a very useful app for anyone interested in tracking sunrise and sunset. If your hobby is photography, you will find this to be a wonderful addition to you app collection.

Great tool. This is great to visualize how the sun or moon will track for any given time. Plus it gives you an angle and line of sight for that point if time. Great for photography where waiting for that perfect time could be any time.

Great app!. Don’t use this app that much, but I like the functionality.

Earned its price first use!. I have an assignment to photograph a building that faces due north and, from this app, I now know that I have to be on location between 6:00 and 7:00, or between 19:00 and 20:00. I save on multiple taxi trips. Certainly could have used this app when photographing for my own app, Old Montreal! Thank you! Now that I've rated the app, please stop nagging me!

Solid app. This app works very well. I've been using it every time I go out to shoot Strongly recommend it.

Amazing. A great tool for my photography business

Great App. Very useful for all types of photography, landscapes, animals and my favourite airplanes.

LightTrac. A brilliant app that marries the power of Google maps with software that takes the guesswork out of calculating sun and moon angle/height, plus much more. A must-have for any photographer who is serious about using natural light to illuminate subject matter. Bill Rankin

Great app. Very good app. Works as described.

Perfect tool!. This app is perfect on film/photo shoots for the Timing and direction of the sun and moon showing the exact locations. Love it!

Great for photography. I really like this app. It works well and helps me figure out where the moon will rise, which is key for my photography. I also like the shadow lengths feature - something I didn't even know I wanted until I had it!

Handy tool. I have found this app very handy for planning wedding shoots and family portraits. It's nice to know the angle of the sun or moon to plan photos. I wish it would somehow store maps for off line use though. I don't always have wifi available when I want to plan something.

Great!. Very useful app.

Fabulous App. Perfect for planning photography trips and preparing when and where to be to get the best light. A must have app for every serious photographer.

Handy for photography. Want to catch a brilliant sunrise or a cool moon shot? Well this is a great app for that. Not only will you know the timing but you will also know where to set up for the best composition.

Awesome app. Great app for planning landscape photography. Map zooming is a little wonky but everything else works great. Like it a little better on the iPad vs. iPhone.

Excellent app for more than just photographers. This app is a must have for architectural photographers and architects alike. The ability to know where the sun is going to shine anytime of day, any time of year, anywhere is fabulous. Also terrific next time you're thinking of buying your next house😀

Excellent app!. Invaluable app for outdoor photography!

Great App. I have several similar apps but this is the one I most frequently use. It is quick and easy and provides me with the information I need without too much messing around.

Light trac.... Right on!. Functional and practical app

Incompatible with latest iOS?. Does not default to searching at the present location. Much worse, though, is that it'll arbitrarily zoom in where you don't want it to. Whenever you don't want it to. Works well otherwise, but it'll test the heck out of your patience. Seriously in need of an update.

Excellent App. Provides excellent info to plan photos.

Great!. Totally eliminates guessing about when to set-up. Priceless!

Great app.. Could you install and on/off finder so we dont have to go in the preference mode to put the app. on and then return in the app. When finish with the app. return in the preference and put the app. off.

Excellent app !. Well done by the designers, extremely useful.

Great app!. This app has saved my hyde more than once! Allows me to be much more efficient with my scouting time.

Very satisfied. Works as expected!

Great App. This is a great App, for anyone who needs to know where the position of the sun or moon is going to be at, at a specific location and time of day. Will be a great aid when scouting locations for photo/ video shoots.

LightTrac. this is a new app for me and i am very interested in trying it out especially with homes listed and taking photos of neighbourhoods. it will also be a handy tool for people looking at homes and to figure out where the sun will rise and set.. I have heard some good input on this app and am looking forward to the future

Petit bijou. Très sympathique application, stable et facile d'usage.

Very usefull. Great tool for a photographer!

Lumière. C'est une bonne application bien pratique

Handy tool!. As a photographer, I find this to be a great tool for my business for figuring out when and where to schedule shoots to get the best light.

Most Excellent. A must have

Great App. I'm a Real Estate photographer and this app lets me know the best time of day to shoot a particular property. Although I do use HDR, it's still best not to shoot into the sun if I don't have to... obviously. I live in MO and I don't have any issue at all with state abbreviations. Very useful app so just ignore the low star reviews from people who can't figure things out. My review serves to offset theirs.

Works, but it has an odd UI. For example, one would think that Locations, Search Location, and Bookmark Location would all be in the same place. They are in 3 different places. And things that you would think are intuitive, like a toggle between a North is Up vs Auto Orientation are hidden in the menu. There are other frustrating things too, like no quick reminder on what each of the colors mean, and some features which aren't obvious like "Copy URL". It works, but it has a larger learning curve than should be necessary. A little more polish and it'd be fantastic.

Pretty good for current location. The only issue I have is that unless you search and save a location, the GPS keeps bringing the location point back to your current location. That is great if you want to know the light at your current location. However, that is a pain if you want to know how the light will fall, for example, two blocks away. You scroll over there, adjust the time, and right when you let go it scrolls back to your current location. The only way I can see to prevent it from doing that is to store that location, which can be a pain if you just want to move around in an area. Otherwise, it is quite handy for planning in other cities.

Good App. I'm a real estate photographer and I use this app for all my shoots. The only thing I wish it would is pin when you expand. It moves around when you expand to get a closer look. It may jump to across the street and now you are not sure which house is the one that has the best light. If someone knows what I'm missing please let me know. Overall, a very good app, well worth the money.

Essential.. I use this all the time! Every time I scout a location for a portrait or wedding, out comes this app. As a photographer it's essential to know where the sun is going to be, and I no longer have to guess. Minor issues: - I wish the satellite image could orient itself like on the iPhone maps app. It's an extra step for me to find north using the compass, and THEN launching LightTrac while standing in the right direction - the time of day slider is a little jumpy in 'light' mode, but not in 'shadow' mode. Hard to dial in the time precisely.

Great tool for photographers. I found this app very useful to plan photo shoots, it's invaluable to plan for the light when you shoot outdoor. I often find myself in a new location and it helps me getting an idea where the light will be. But also to plan the exact time of a session making sure I get the light and the sunset right. Every photographer who shoots outdoor should have this app. I suggested adding a visual representation of how long a shadow would be and guess what, the developer added it! Thank you so much!

Excellent. This app does just what I need it to do, although I can see how there might not be too many millions of other people who need the same thing. My only suggestion for a change at this point would be to make it more clear that one is looking at the moon's light path or looking at the suns light path at any given moment. At first, it was very confusing to me, since it had not even occurred to me that the moon's light path might be something I could view in this app. I continue to find that I need to double-check and make sure that I have the "sun" button tapped. Anyway, thanks for a great product.

Light Trac - An Outstanding Tool. I love this tool and rely upon it almost daily to track the sun and moon. It's ease of use and excellent screen graphics provide valuable insights and help me plan my photo shoots around those key times of day when the light is at it's best. Enter any date and location and you can see the direction, angle and elevation of the light. Very valuable information to have prior to arriving at your chosen location. I give this five stars, it has earned it!

Sensational app for the outdoor photographer. Planning an outdoor shoot that depends on natural light is now much easier with this app. Within seconds, you can determine where the sun will be in the sky at any given time of day at any given location, how long your shadows will be, etc. This is a MUST HAVE for anyone who frequently shoots outdoors and uses the sun as the main light source. Highly recommended.

Comments. Very functional and useful app. It would be nice to be able to lock the location in the map view and then pan and zoom the map to get a detailed look at the paths represented by the lines. Currently if you pan the map then the location moves too, and I haven't found a way to change that. Also, the app description includes "View elevation chart and azimuth chart for Sun and Moon". I haven't found any such charts within the app - maybe I am missing something?

LightTrac Review. LightTrac is is just short of what I call a simple, but quite extraordinary app that's easy to understand and operate. I'm sure that everyone would agree that some great photographs simply come from being in the right place at the right time, or in other words just plain luck. However, with LightTrac, I'm able to make my luck by knowing when and where nature will be with or without her light and what kind of light it will or won't be, and it's extremely accurate. It has one major drawback though; it can't predict the Weather, but neither can the weatherman. I urge anyone who reads this to download and try it. I know you'll truly be amazed. M Wendell

Just what I need. As a real estate photographer, I need to know where the sun will shine in relation to the the house. LightTrac does that for me! Many jobs require 2-3 hours of travel and I can count on LightTrac to enable me to schedule the best time to photograph the exterior and interior of the home. I can then schedule travel time based on LightTrac's assistance. It is just what I need.

Love this app!. This is a great app for photography, but also for identifying where and when the sun and the moon will be rising, in general. Just tonight I looked up the moonrise to see where it would be, since it was the largest full moon last night. I regularly refer to this app for general location and direction (north, south, etc.) information, too. I highly recommend this app!

Needs Updating to be an Elite App. There are several apps that have the same functionality. If this app or any other wants to pull ahead then they need to offer more functionality. The three biggest areas I see for improvement are 1. Make the workflows more intuitive (cause when I use it, about once every 2-3 months, I don't remember the instructions and have to relearn it) 2. Create a way for me to organize my information in folders because I track a lot of different locations that I want to photograph. And 3. Allowing syncing between my devices with Drop Box or iCloud so I can plan on my iPad and use my iPhone in the field. As a photographer this is what I need that none of the apps I have tried have. Regards.....

A must have app for any photographer. I shoot a lot of sunrises and sunsets and capture them against scenes like lighthouses, bridges, rocks etc etc.. Most apps tell you the times based on dates but knowing the angle in the sky based on time of year and date makes everything so much easier. Using this app I was just able to determine that I can shoot the moon setting over a bridge, than run across the bridge and still get the sunrise behind the lighthouse. Could never have determined that without this app showing me the best locations for what I want to capture.

Great app. I use this app all the timeas part of my job in producung still and motion imagery It is versatile and very, very useful and I recommend it to everyone. It had some iOS8 hiccoughs, but the developers have been caring and responsive and the latest version, 2.5.1 is spot on. If you shoot outside and can't scout a location at the time when you'll shoot, this app will save you a lot of aggro. Update after bug fixes to handle 8.x, back to normal with new map options. If you shoot, this is an app you want from a developer who cares about customers.

Highly Useful. This has been a consistently useful application for me. We often work at a remote desert location with a big mountain on one side and an unobstructed view to the east so it really helps to know where the sun will hit the horizon in the morning and where the shadows will fall on the terrain during the day. I use it often and always when doing location photography. Worth every penny.

Terrible. I'm a professional real estate photographer and was so excited about this app. I had heard great things but this app is so bad on the iPhone. It corrects the state abbreviation MO to MOM every time. This never happens anywhere else on my iPhone so I know it's the app. You have to save every address you search?? Which is totally stupid because why would I want all those addresses saved? I will never use them again. Plus, for 90% of the properties, I can't tell which direction they're facing because the spot isn't even clearly marked. A lot of times it's in between houses. Boo!

just love it .. plan all my field work. delineating wetlands and keying out wet soils requires good light .. i use this app to plan all my field work. it a pleasure to know what to expect the sun light to be like ahead of time.

Awesome. Took me couple of minutes to get it adjusted but very nice app

Works great. Works as promised

Great. I'm a photographer and this app really gets used a lot. It' s got everything I need for shooting when I need to know where the sun is at (almost always!) the only improvement would be adding the date on the main screen so you don't have to hit the date button. Little thing, but it would be smarter. Great app

A Great Tool for Architects and Photographers. I have been using this app on my iPad since ver. 1 and have found it to be not only useful in my architecture and photography but also to be one of the most elegantly designed apps I own. Version 2 is better still and now runs on the iPhone. Highly recommended.

Great. I use it for solar panels in addition to photo’s

Puddletheduck. This is a outstanding app. Discounting the weather factor, I can plan shots long before I get there. I had this on both my iPhone and iPad before I updated my operating system and lost it. I bought it again because it is such a big help in planning my shots. It would be nice if I could get my money back on the one I lost. Good job on this one.

Great app. Very well written

One of the most important tools for outdoor photography. This app is probably one of, if not the most, important tools in my photo bag. Besides the weather, a good outdoor photographer has to be able to determine where his light source will be throughout the course of the day. This app not only gives you the position of the sun at anytime, it will also give you the Moon's rise and set locations. Without this app, I wouldn't be able to plan so far in advance my outdoor shoots.

Great for photographers. Works well. By looking at this app I can plan ahead and decide where I want to be for moonrise and moonset. I can also look at the moon phase to plan months in advance for the right angle. I also do a lot of light painting so knowing when it will be moonless is helpful. This app along with a good weather app allows me to have a high probability of when and where to get the shot. I do wish I could query by moon phase to see all possible future dates. Also, there are lots of mountains here and the rise and set angles seem to not take in to account mountains that block a view. I have to add 10 degrees in most cases for visibility.

Absolutely No Instructions. I really want to love this app., but instead I find it frustrating to use. There are no instructions telling me what I'm looking at, or how to interpret what I'm seeing. Is the blue line the moon and yellow the sun, then what's the red? Someone told me to use it facing north? Again no instructions in the app. When I move, so do the lines. The current location never moved from a previous spot, so I deleted, and reloaded. It does seem to be better now. I have even tried to find instructions online to no avail. Personally, I wish I hadn't waisted my money.

Great App!. As a photographer, I am constantly going to this app when planning location shoots. Saves a huge amount of location scouting time when I can see the times and sun angles without having to stand around for hours watching the sun angle days before a shoot. This app had become indispensable for planning shoots.

Elegant,Simple, and Useful. Very quickly and easily enables the user to determine when the lighting will be just right for that perfect shot. One warning, however: it's a little addictive! You'll find yourself adding locations, playing with dates and times of days, figuring out when and where the sun and moon will rise, set, and everything else. My only wish (idea for next version, perhaps?) is that I could move the sun/moon rise and set lines directly to find what date they will be at a particular compass heading, rather than having to scroll through the dates themselves. Really nice job; worth every penny.

Too expensive, poor quality. Spent $9 for this app to give me close to no help at all

Used to work. I've had this app for several years and it used to work great. Now, not so much. It crashes a lot, it no longer works to search for a place or small village, in fact even searching for London results in a message saying no results. When I save a location, the next time I open the app it's gone. When I save a location it no longer auto sets the time zone and doesn't let me do it manually. Two different iPads with two different versions, same issues. Looking for an alternative.

Great app for any location shooting or scouting!. This is a great simple app for any location shooting or scouting. It allows you to plan the perfect moment to get to your location and make the most out of the lighting conditions. It can also help you determine if the proper conditions for your shot are ever going to exist (as in will that side of the building ever get any good light), so you can plan accordingly. I highly recommend this for anyone who either does location work, or needs to scout out locations for such work.

Excellent Application!!. I've been using this application for over a year with excellent results! As I plan an outdoor photo shoot I pull out my iPhone or iPad and schedule my day to take advantage of the lighting I'm looking for. Recently I took a trip to North Carolina to photograph several historical buildings as well as some fall color. I planned my trip with the help of this application, which saved making multiple trips to a location or long waits when on site for the correct lighting. The application works flawlessly! The iPad version is truly incredible. This application is a must for any serious photographer!!

Wonderfully done. This is a great asset for any serious outdoor photographer. The app is wonderfully and beautifully done with a nice logical presentation that gives you all the information with a quick glance and great ease of use without compromising advanced features. BTW this is useful for non photographers as well since you can use this app for other purposes like figure out when to close the blinds on windows on a certain wall in your house when the sun is directly streaming in! It's also useful for runners, joggers etc to quickly find out how long sunlight is available and the earliest and latest time to go for a run with visibility. For 99 cents you can't go wrong.

Great app. The developer listens and responds. This is a great app. I like the elevation but what would be great would be a virtual shadow. (THEY DID IT!! Thank you) Something that would show where and how long shadows would fall based on a given height of an object. For example of your shoot is near a 30 foot building, how far would the shadow be? Then a photographer would know where and how long shadows would be. This is something that every photographer could use. THE DEVELOPER DID EXACTLY THIS. THANK YOU!! It could work like this: Place pin like those placed on iPhone maps then define height of pin. Then pins shadow would change based on time of day and angle of sun. Would be nice if the shadow could be shown on the map itself.

Only works on wifi ??. Without fail, compass interference every time I open the app. Works fine on wifi after waving my phone around like crazy. Tested it out in real world use, didn't work. Gps wouldn't lock in, compass interference, hung up in landscape mode and couldn't get it unstuck. Would prefer to not have to wave my phone around like a dummy every time I try to use it. Had high hopes given all the positive reviews and the price.

Works well. I like that this app includes both sun and moon.

Crap! Not worth $5.00!!. Can’t look at multiple locations. It only shows your current gps location. I want my money back.

Useless. The App insists it cannot determine the time zone for the location I enter. It instructs me to enter it manually. How does one enter it manually?

Essential tool in my kit. I've used other apps and a compass in the past, only to get a close approximation of where the sun/moon will be. This app is spot on and I'm able to see exactly where the light will be for any composition I want to plan out. The ability to see via the satellite view just where the sun/moon is in relation to trees, buildings and bodies of water, PRICELESS!!

Nothing like planning the right time for the light time!. I've been using this app for years now and it has proven indispensable for me. I'm a professional portrait photographer and need to know where the light and shadows will be at a particular time of day, especially in an unfamiliar location. This app is always spot on. One of the more useful apps a photographer can have!

Tremendous App!. For over a year, this has been one of my "go-to" apps; extremely quick, simple and useful! My only suggestion would be to include the expand the screen where you pick a date to include the year, and allow you to select a month; scrolling by individual days can be tedious. Small nit for an overall great app.

Great tool. Works as advertised. Very useful. One feature that would be helpful is to have a compass needle incorporated so that you are properly oriented to the directions LightTrac is displaying. For example, if you arrive at a location when it is difficult to see the sun (overcast or dark) and you wish to envision the sun's direction during a sunny day, referencing the LightTrac interface does not allow you to know which direction you are facing without switching the iPhone to its own compass app to orient yourself. Once you have done that you then need to switch back to LightTrac and orient it appropriately.

A must have for outdoor photography. If you shoot outdoors and would like to know the sun's position in the sky this is a must have app. Locate your shooting location using map or satellite view. Save favorite shooting locations that you n to often. See sun rise position, sunset position and the location of the sun at any time of your choosing easily and quickly. Helpful when planning an outdoor shoot with a client. Highly recommended!

Get this app if you do outdoor photography. I didn't realize how useful this app could be until I was asked to do a photo shoot for a client that wanted a sunset shot in 5 weeks, the day before their wedding, I checked this app and I could tell them EXACTLY to the minute when the sun would be on the horizon on that day. It's easy to use, graphics are good, and the learning curve is short.

An awesome app!. This is one of those critical applications that I use when I'm photographing in a location I haven't been to before. Being able to know where and how light will look at a particular time at that location is a life-saver! I don't know how this application can be any better. The interface maybe? It may not be as intuitive as it can be. But it's pretty darn easy after some practice with it. Graphics are awesome. Worth every penny I paid for the app!

Great for outdoor sports shooting. Great app for planning any type of outdoor shooting, including sports. You can select your shooting spots for that date and time of day, even if you've never been there before. I love how they've added the feature where it shows how long the shadows are - it helps you avoid those horrible uneven, patchy tree shadows!

Great when it works. This is a wonderful app when it works. Unfortunately it has a habit of locking up, and occasionally producing wildly inaccurate results. For example, I just was reviewing a location in Louisville KY. The app say the sun doesn't set until 1AM! I also have problems saving locations. It can't auto find the time zone, but won't let me manually set it, creating a loop you can't get out of. On the other hand, it always seems to have the correct sun angles for any given time and location. I'm using it on an iPhone and an iPad mini, running OS6.
