Most useful and versatile meditation app. I’m an experienced meditator in a number of meditation styles and traditions. I love this app for giving me customizable bells and timers for any meditation I want to create. I use it for myself solo and when I lead a meditation group. I’ve been exploring more practices and music/soundscapes and find my access to teachers and content creators super easy and exciting. I love the quotes of the day and being able to record my mood and what’s happening for me and go back and look at my well-being trends. I’m not so keen on the milestones and star assigning system that makes me feel like I’m reaching for an accomplishment with my meditation. I’d rather just track the stats, which you can totally do. I’m also not really involved in the community but you get to see who you’re meditating with around the world which is so connecting. Insight Timer is way more than Insight meditation, and if you’re looking for a timer, a community, some meditation direction, and wanting to enhance your mental and physical well-being, this is the app for you. Beginners and experienced folks alike will find many things to like about this meditation timer and meditation app.

As a Mental Health Therapist, I Truly Love This App!. I don’t usually have warm feelings for apps, they’re just apps-they either do what they are supposed to do or they don’t. But I truly feel a deep sense of gratitude for insight Timer. After using it for about a year now, I am continually blown away by the caliber and variety of resources available in the free version. Whether I am struggling with anxiety, sadness, falling asleep, conflict in a relationship, self criticism, or just wanting a lovely supported guided meditation practice, Insight Timer has multiple supportive and specific resources that always help me feel more grounded and renewed. I highly recommend this app to my clients, friends, and family all the time. It’s more than a meditation app, it is like a free and constantly available Therapist, teacher, and supportive community (when I open the app, I love seeing the little dots on the world map representing all my fellow Insight Timer users who are practicing alongside me right now). I would get rid of literally every other app before this one.

70+ days in and still LOVE this app!. Update — now three years in & would prefer it stop being so commercial. Meditation is not complicated, does not require going to class for the rest of your life. Those of us who just want to use the timer function — it gets put in with constant ads in your face. It is shameful actually that an organization that says it wants to make your life better pushes you to do routines and classes that actually detract from getting from point A to point B. Oh well, if the times keep getting stuck behind commercialization, at least I’m not addicted to these classes at all, I can use alternative timers or none at all. I still mostly use it for the great sounding sequential timers. Who wants to be blasted out of their session? Not me, and this app provides quality sounds to let me first relax, sound so I know to move into my first part, then when that time has passed, sound, so I know to move into my second (rest) part, then a nice gentle sound to let me know I can comfortably open my eyes and end my "meditation". Works perfect -- and is all I need to use -- I can add friends when I have extra time or browse the "forums" but totally not necessary to do Turning Within meditation (Kelvin Chin) -- a sort of hybrid of TM, a sort of mantra meditation. It has made a world of difference and this app helps me keep my place and incidentally tracks the days that turn to weeks and months. Very happy with this app!

A good app with lots of bugs. I wish I could give this app a higher rating. But there are multiple problems with it. I like the timer function. And I also enjoy the many guided meditations that are offered both paid and unpaid. But I really got this app in order to network with other like-minded people. And for years you could network with friends who are meditating at the same time. But this function often goes missing. I’ve emailed them many times. Sometimes they fix it sometimes they don’t. Currently I can never see who my friends are who are meditating at the same time. Another problem is that they won’t change my residence even though I have changed it in the app. It still says I am down in North Carolina even though I’m up in Massachusetts. So when it shows people who are meditating nearby, I only get North Carolina people. I have tried for months now to get them to fix this to no avail. Also, when I’m trying to send a message to other people, I cannot use the microphone to dictate. I have to type out every message. So annoying! This should not be a hard thing to fix in this day and age.

Every update worse than the last. This used to be a great app. Simple and compelling. But more than any other app I can think of, they keep making changes that lower the experience…clutter the screen, put the most commonly used features (the timer, for instance) underneath menus instead of on the home page. And they’ve destroyed the community they had by a series of rearrangements and bugs that have killed off a lot of the friendly conversations with others which I enjoyed about this app. It’s been more than a year since the “new messages” red light meant anything, and I just stopped checking it because it would not light up when there were new messages (after working perfectly for a year before that). But now no one sends messages anyway so who cares. Update: they tell me you can customize your home page and make it the timer, which is good. But the criticism about the reduction in community interaction remains. I’d say the number of messages I receive (Ie “thank you for meditating with me”, or custom messages) and responses I receive from my messages is down 80% from before they made these changes last year. It’s essentially killed off any social/community aspect of the app, which is a shame. It’s a wonderful group of people and those of use who enjoy saying hello really miss the way the app used to facilitate those happy interactions.

Insight Timer has so much content!. As a therapist, I’m great for listening to clients and making suggestions for addressing ongoing issues but this is the first time I was intentional with beginning my own personal practice of mindfulness and meditation. I didn’t know where to start and thought an app would be helpful. I didn’t know there are apps that require paid membership in order to access the content and I understand that. But I didn’t want to pay for a membership if I wasn’t sure I would be consistent. Insight Timer fit exactly what I was looking for! First, the amount of content that’s free is staggering! That lets me know there are other professionals that understand the reach of their expertise and don’t mind sharing with the larger community. Second, this content is provided by professionals who practice in this arena of wellness. I want to explore more and I see there are ways for me to personalize my wellness experience. Mood tracking, journaling, setting reminders and timers, classes and now I’m excited to continue this practice with full intention. Thank you to all who have developed this app and who contribute to it! Amazing work! And the surround community will benefit from this work!

Best Meditation App By a Mile. Insight Timer is by far the best meditation app available, I’ve tried all the top apps and nothing compares. Most of the other major meditation apps are focused on selling you hardware or a subscription - Insight Timer is free and has additional content you can pay for but it’s not built as a “money machine” the way the others are. Plus, there are legitimately excellent, experienced and trained meditation instructors like Tara Brach who post free guided meditations to get you started. My only “complaint,” if you can even call it that, is that there is now a TON of essentially worthless “woo-woo” visualization exercises and “healings” posted by an increasing number of “meditation teachers” who clearly have no training or credentials and are just using the app to build an audience for their personal brand. It didn’t used to be like that, but now it’s common to see three pieces of new-age nonsense for every one actual guided meditation. I worry a bit that beginning meditators would easily get sidetracked down an endless rabbit hole of “mind candy” and miss the core point of meditation - training the mind to be present, empty, and completely open.

What a resource!!. I initially downloaded this app for the timer - a nice variety of authentic sounding bowls, blocks, and chimes. Fast forward four years and I'm continually blown away by the incredible amount and quality of the guided meditation content now available here! All for free!! With new recordings arriving each day, there's everything from basic breath work and mindfulness practices, to creative visualization and hypnotherapy, Yoga Nidra, meditations on specific topics (I've noticed everything from improving your ball game to having a healthy pregnancy!), children's meditations, meditations in a variety of foreign languages, music, and spiritual talks. While most of the offerings seem to be pretty secular, there are some which might appeal more specifically to people with backgrounds in Buddhism, Hinduism, Christianity, Islam, Judaism, and probably other religions as well. There's everything from world renown spiritual leaders to up and coming teachers from around the world. I've found some real gems here and have bookmarked many more than I'll probably ever get to as I keep coming back to some favorites. I haven't gotten into the social aspect of this app, but that is also there for people who want that. I do enjoy seeing the charts of my practice over time and feel more centered and able to cope with life as I enjoy realizing the personal goals I've set. Thank you!!

The TikTok of Meditation Apps. Do not buy this app if you want to use it for the timer only. Using the app is like logging into facebook, just to access the timer. With this app, you are constantly being marketed to with “New and Improved” update of their app. I have been using the app for a long time and it is now so completely different that it is no longer functional for its stated purpose. From the login page, you will have to navigate through several different pages before you get to the actual timer. Basically, they built a social network around the timer that you are now forced to join and participate in, so they can sell you their premium “meditation services”. I am a long-time practicing Buddhist, and from what I can see, the app has been redesigned to distract people from sitting in meditation to make them dependent on a “meditation specialist” or some other “premium subscription service.” I would not be so harsh, but if you purchase this app, you will be giving money to someone who wants to sell services over providing you a product that will help you progress in your spiritual journey. I deleted this app and will be looking for suitable alternative. I hope you can find the same, and I wish you the best luck trying to escape the lies of samsara. Maybe “samsara” would be a better name for the app at this point.

Wonderful app, evolving conscientiously. Insight Timer has been with me since way before it became a source of so much varied and wonderful material. I used to use it just to time my own meditations or the holding of my yin postures, when all it was was a timer! Even then it felt like a treasure on my iPad. I lost my thread with meditation for a while and when I returned I found a new world in the making on this app, with a most inspiring talk from the CEO to kick off my appreciation, respect, and enthusiasm. I came back as a regular and haven’t scratched the surface, in spite of using it nearly daily. It helped me through a two year battle of my husband’s with cancer that would eventually take him out. Most remarkably, my husband, never having been a meditator himself, found his way to using this app for desperately needed help in sleeping the last few months of his life. He listened so much the last few weeks that all we caregivers needed to know how to access his favorites, day and night. And now I’m returning to this wealth of help to work with my grief and move forward. I can see that it will be a godsend yet again. Thank you for a remarkable product, conceived and conducted with great heart and smarts. Still a treasure for me. w

Helpful for prevention but not reaction to anxiety. I found this app extremely helpful when I was trying to relax. I get overwhelmed with school work and all the things I have to do. I recently downloaded this app and have tried it a few times. I really enjoyed how this app had several meditation lengths. Therefore, when I had something due really soon, I could pick a shorter meditation or I could choose a longer one when I had more time. I think being able to relax is crucial to getting through life. We even learned a relaxation method in a class I am in. It was a breathing technique but I think this app goes a step further and allows for affirmation, which allows for longer bouts of relaxation. I’m this class we talked about anxiety. Mostly we talked about panic attacks and how sudden they can be. While this app could be helpful in managing panic attacks, I do not think it would be very helpful while a panic attack is occurring. Rather, listening to a meditation before entering an anxiety-inducing scenario would be better. This app would take too long to calm someone down from a panic attack. This way, anxiety could be prevented rather than reacted to.

The PERFECT Library of Meditations at My Fingertips. I cannot say enough about how much I enjoy this app. It doesn’t have any advertisements, like in other free apps, and I can pull up any type, at any moment, for as long as I need, and for what purpose I need it for, and VIOLA!! Poof!! 💥There it displays many many choices! I am so thrilled, there is such a treasure chest of talented gems, and I am really learning so much! It not only helps me learn how to meditate, but how to continue putting into practice what I’ve learned. Prior to this app, I had restless sleep. I am experiencing the joys of menopause, so there are a lot of sleepless nights. However, when I used the sleeping meditations, I’m sound asleep in minutes! 😴 I wake refreshed & ready to take on the day! I’ve even done morning meditations, during acupuncture, for a power nap, waiting for an appointment... anywhere at any time of the day. I’ve gained an abundance mindset and have truly felt the confidence, clarity, pleasure, self-love, healing, cleansing, serenity, gratefulness, openness to love, self-care, inspiration, rejuvenation, motivation, fun, and receptivity to enjoy discovery and new challenges... and truly living life. Very powerful and well organized app. Thank you for the developers & beautiful contributions. The BEST APP EVER!! Life changing!!

single most important app in my iphone!!. sighhhh. this app is everything. using insight timer consistently, i have 135 total days meditated & 66 consecutive days completed. i use the app from the moment i wake up, work on my laptop, in an uber, when i’m home reading or cooking, and finally when i sleep. i can’t believe there’s a FREE app like this that houses so many wonderful meditation tracks. you can choose music or guided meditation. i ‘ve even played the kid meditations for my little nephew to fall asleep. in the settings area, it has a full chart of your progress and how many total minutes etc you’ve meditated. seeing the numbers really motivates you to keep the streak going & meditate daily. if you don’t like guided meditation, there’s a simple timer you can use, which is the original purpose of the app. thank you to the creators of insight timer & the teachers who provide their guidance & positive energy. i’ve tagged them on instagram stories in the past & they always reply and like. i love an interactive company. i see myself purchasing their ‘member plus’ version which has a lot of cool features. i rarely write app store reviews but this platform has truly helped me in my daily life. THANK YOU! sending peace & love your way. download this dang app i tell ya! ~Ra

My Favorite App. I have been using the free version of Insight Timer since 2011 and other than my standard mail, text and calendar apps, this is the app I use most consistently. I recently upgraded to the paid version thinking that at the very least, I should support this dedicated staff and I’m really glad I did. I’m enjoying the courses and other paid features. I’m an executive coach and for years, have been recommending Insight Timer to every one of my clients, most of whom have never meditated before. There are so many options to help beginners get started, from short meditations that can help busy clients dip their toes in the water and build their meditation muscles to guided meditations that really help people learn to calm their minds. I’m really looking forward to exploring more of the courses. It would be fantastic if there was a way to build a favorites list, then easily share that with my clients. I’ve found that anything I can do to lower the barriers to getting started (one of which can be an overwhelming array of choices), the higher the likelihood that a client will try something. Maybe this option already exists. Guess I need to do some exploring. Thanks Insight Timer for developing my favorite app!

My favorite App And Favorite part of my day.. This has been the best meditation app I have ever used. I have tried a few, and this one is full of so much more than just meditation. It can teach you to meditate or you can expand upon what you know. It can help you learn new things about not only meditation, but spirituality, tarot, chakras, breath work and many other things. The live events offered daily for free from many of the teachers is a great extra. It offers opportunities to see the teachers in person, as well as learn about new subjects. You can just drop in and listen and leave when you’re ready. There are lots of things to learn on the app. they offer courses that are simple and varied in content and length. I use this app daily. I went from meditating here and there to meditating daily thanks to the app, I am therapist and like this app so much I have passed it to many of my clients who would benefit from learning to meditate or further their own meditation practice. I can’t say enough good things about this app and thank you for offering so much for free.

Insight Timer. Excellent app with well organized meditations. I use the guided meditation for sleep, bookmarking those that are most pleasing and effective for me. Sometimes just the music for relaxation or stress reduction or healing is soothing, calming and enjoyable and helps me fall asleep. There are more features on this app than I can quickly bring to mind, like ambient sound and music, a timer function with an array of gentle closing sounds, courses on clearing away guilt or shame, dealing with pain, learning to meditate, etc—-with interactive features for questions and comments with the teachers. There is a social feature, connecting mediators with one another. There is a user rating for each offering that is extremely helpful because the number of choices are so large that I read the ratings before I try something. The amazing thing about this high quality app is that it is free. I pay a small annual fee because I want to support the venture and be able to download my courses and favorite meditations so I can listen offline. I would give this app as a whole the highest rating possible.

Unable to leave reviews for meditations. The review button on the site is broken and users are no longer able to update old reviews that we have written or leave new ones. This problem started about 2 weeks ago. I have emailed the app about 6 times over this period, but nothing has been done to fix the problem. I am in the habit of listening to new meditations and then leaving reviews (which are never negative) so I know which meditations I have already listened to, which I love or merely like. I enjoy reading the reviews of others as well. So the fact that this review button is not working is a problem. Otherwise, I love Insight Timer. I have been using it for 3 years and 3 months and have clocked over 10k minutes of meditation. The topics are varied and interesting. I bounce around a lot to new meditations based on the topics I am working on in my life. I find some of the meditations to be incredible and in the style I enjoy and others to be just good, in my opinion, but not my style. That is why the review button is so important, so I don’t unintentionally begin a meditation that I have already listened to in the past and just found to be ok, but unmotivating to me.

Best Meditation App, and it's Free?!. I love love LOVE Insight Timer! Started using it years ago when I first got into meditating, and doing guided meditations was a lot easier than trying to sit still and quiet my mind. Now I can enjoy both, but I still come back to Insight Timer when I'm looking for a specific vibe or have a certain intent or thing I want to work on. The app is so intuitive, so much free content, some great teachers here. I'm looking forward to the Premium content so I can hopefully get some of my favorite teachers' paid content, that until now they had to put on sites like Patreon, etc. I recommend this app to all of my friends when I encourage them to meditate, which is all the time! I've tried a few of the paid meditation apps, but I really prefer this one because I can choose if I want to do a structured course for a few days or just pick a random one every day. Did I mention it's FREE? Premium is a new feature, and it's optional. They don't try to black ball you into subscribing, and there's still just as much free content. #winning

Yeah, this app is the best. Period.. Like many other reviewers, I have tried and tested many different forms of meditation. I tried Headspace (and liked it!), but it never stuck. I am a YOGA TEACHER, and yet, to my disappointment, I simply couldn’t turn a personal meditation practice into a daily habit. Skeptical but re-inspired, I downloaded Insight Timer. I tried a 5-minute loving-kindness mediation and felt invigorated. I’ve had the app for four days and have meditated everyday since (sometimes twice in one day!). It’s easily become habit - suddenly - given the great magnitude and variety of resources on this app. I LOVE how you can search for anything (and find it, no doubt), listen to different voices and techniques every time, AND it’s free. There is a premium option, but unlike many other apps, the abundance of free perks on this one makes it easy and simple to use without concern to upgrade — they’re not trying to trick you one bit! (Thank you, Insight Timer, for making this app free and accessible to all folks with smart phones.) I love this app. And for the first time in my life, I not only turn inward regularly - rather, I eagerly look forward meditating every day.

I TEACH MEDITATION. As a teacher, I’ve been recommending different apps and music for my students and patients over the years and I can honestly say that I have switched and I use Insight Timer EVERY DAY without fail and have done so since the day I found it! I recommend it to everyone! I’m so impressed with the content and how it’s broken down by category and by time. If you only have a few minutes, you still can access a mind space to breathe. There is so much to explore and do within this little app. You can choose to approach meditation from a spiritual or scientific angle, you can simply use it to breathe or listen to lectures and learn something new, you can use it as a meditation timer or go into a chat room and discuss meditation or philosophy with other like minded people. The option to join and become part of a community and connect with other people on the journey of learning and discovery is wonderful, and it’s international platform makes it uniquely powerful. I can’t say enough about this because it’s so much more than an app, it’s an idea that came together in an app and created an international community of meditators and made it accessible to even the newest beginner. I have passed this app on to over a hundred people and will continue to do so! I can’t recommend this enough!!

Try it. You’ll like it.. I love so many things about this app. First all the meditations, playlists and live feeds are free. It’s really important to me that everyone can have free access. That being said, I upgraded to get the extra perks, but mostly to support IT, so it they can continue to offer all the free stuff. That’s the goal. One can also contribute to individuals teacher, one can support that way which starts at 1.99 (US). Drawbacks: it can be overwhelming when one first encounters it, but the daily suggestions, playlists, and live feeds introduce new teachers & meditation types, mitigating the overwhelming number of meditations. So do the search features. The other drawback, in my opinion, is it’s seems they aren’t vetting their contributors as carefully as they used to, and some teachers don’t have credentials in meditation, mindfulness, yoga...., but they consider everyone an expert. Still I highly recommend it for beginners & novices. It’s changed my life for the better, and I recommend it to my therapy clients, many of whom have started their own practices. I am grateful a friend recommend it to me.

Easy to use and keeps you in touch with your mind and body. I really like this app I was looking for something that would have breath work and gratitude templates and this app has both. There are a lot of free options to look through, I learned from my psychology class that when doing these breathing exercises it is more benifitial to engage your belly while breathing. This contracts your whole diaphragm calming your nervous system and is very helpful to do when you are anxious or stressed. I really like the mindful part of this app as well. There are morning talks on how to start your day with intentional positivity which can help improve your days. Along with daily mood check ins. There are different playlists of music along to fit whatever you are doing. Along with yoga to help you stay active. Increasing your heart rate can release endorphins like dopamine and Serotonin. The release of these chemicals in your brain makes you happier and more attentive throughout your day. Overall this is a really good app that I would recommend. I just wish you didn’t have to pay for some of the stuff but there is ample free opportunities for you to use.

Should have done this before now. Three months from today I turn 70. I have never been a meditator. Certainly not a daily one. I’ve had a curiosity about it, but I think that part of my atheism is that I tend to be pretty much a skeptic. In February of this year, I began daily meditation, using a few different apps I’d downloaded. They were all okay. Solidly good, perfectly fine. But there were fewer options on one, or too new-agey (for want of a better term), or there would be some perceived lack. Then I stumbled across Insight Timer. This has felt like a fundamental shift in my experience of life, and I’ll attribute it to my time with many of the teachers here. Both courses and guided meditations for me... a friend uses the app strictly for the “timer” aspect....bells, chimes, gongs... I’m a paying member, but even the free parts of the app seemed to me to be effectively endless. AND good, at that. In case none of this is clear enough , I recommend this app. So, I must have written that in September 2020, and just found it now; it appears that I wrote but never posted it. It is now January 2023; I still come here every day, and still recommend the app. It can be transformative.

Best meditation app hands down!. I don’t write reviews for apps. I felt compelled to do so for this one. First off, i have been trying to get into the practice of meditation for several years now. I’ve tried classes, doing it on my own, and various other apps: Calm, HeadSpace, etc. Problem with those apps is they all charge you a monthly fee after the trial period. This is the only truly free app for meditation. Once I got into it, it’s laid out so beautifully, easy to find specific meditations, and its so user friendly. I really found myself looking forward to meditating after the first couple of days. It is now a part of my morning routine and i could not imagine my life without it. They do offer courses in addition to the over 45,000 free meditations. I fell in love with one meditation guide in particular who led a Smiling Meditation which literally brought happy tears to my eyes while meditating! I found that she offered a 10-day self-confidence workshop. I wound up going ahead and purchasing the yearly membership for $65. Well worth it to me bc i don’t think I could run out of courses or premium content on this app! Could not recommend enough! If you have had other apps collecting space on your phone, do yourself a favor and delete them! Get Insight Timer!

I use this daily, Excellent app, great tool. I continue to use it daily, to time my zazen. The developers continue to improve the experience. It supports meditation of all sorts and all faiths. Very flexible, allowing me to choose timings to fit my day. I take it when I am on the road. It allows social connections to other meditators, if you wish, but that's far from necessary to get value. The reminder feature is nice, as are the record keeping features. Really appreciate the efforts to upgrade after seeking users' input. The newest version offers a great deal of customizable features so that practitioners can create an individual experience. I don't use the guided meditations, though those are plentiful and varied. The "groups" feature supports community of practice in a very customizable manner. There are Christian, Jewish, Buddhist, Muslim, Hindu, and non-denominational groups, as well as inter-faith and even humor groups. There is considerable support to maintain a daily practice, including a 365 group, with a goal to sit each day in 2017. It has earned a spot at the bottom of my iPhone screen, along with the phone app, mail, and safari.

Reliable and helpful for all ages. Our family has loved Insight Timer for years now. Nearly every update has been an improvement on an already great app. We use it when putting our little ones to bed at night (and we’re too exhausted to tell them a story or sing to them ourselves). My 8-yo particularly loves Cori Cochiolo, especially her Heidi, Cherry, and Vaya series. Our kids often turn it on when they go to sleepovers, especially if they’re having trouble falling asleep. Their friends usually start using it, too. Personally, I’ve used it for myriad things…. It’s a fantastic support / encouragement for staying consistent with my meditation practice. It helps me fall asleep, whether that be music, stories, or guided meditations. It helps me go back to sleep. Sometimes I've participated in their courses and challenges (I’d like to do more of them). I’ve reconnected with some of my favorite Kripalu teachers from years past, who are active on this site. I’ve even found super helpful sessions that help me wake up in the mornings with a positive mindset (even before coffee!!). I could not recommend this app more highly. The options are endless, and you can financially support the content creators as/when you’re able…so you can use it regardless of your financial state. I view it as having a personal meditation “trainer” come to my home a few times a day, for support and guidance. For me, that’s priceless.

Almost Perfect. I love this app and use it daily. There are so many content options it’s a bit two sided—it’s a lot to sort through. My biggest pretty please wish is that it return to saving my preference to sort my bookmarks from short to long. It used to remember the last sort setting, but for some reason it was taken away (and the bookmarks kind of buried) a couple of versions ago. Edit: I still enjoy this app, but with each new version I’m a little disappointed. I had liked the opening screen with the map of where people were meditating, but also that it wasn’t more than that, as meditation is a private thing. A quiet connection felt much more comfortable. It feels much more commercial now—I’m constantly being advertised at with smiling headshots. I doubt that would change if I subscribed, and I’d prefer to buy rather than rent the app anyway. It’s also constantly being redesigned, making it hard to know where to find things. And the last update completely took away the ability for me to sort my bookmarked meditations from shortest to longest, which I really preferred as my default and used to be able to set it to.

How to ruin a perfectly good app.... I've been using Insight Timer for many years. It is by far the best meditation timer available on iOS. Over the years the developer has added various other aspects, but the Timer was always front and center. Some of the newer aspects included meditaitons, which I greatly appreciate. I was able to add my favoruites and access timer and mediations from a simple home screen and turn off or ignore the "social" aspects which become more dominant in the app. (No, I dont want to know how many people have meditated with me today!) But the recent update has really turned me off. To start, the app launches with a daily quote. When I wake up in the morning and reach for my phone to start a meditation session, the LAST thing I want is someone's quote floating around in my head. There is no way to turn off this so-called "feature". And now the social aspects are front and center and very annoying. No, I dont want the app to ask me "How are you doing today"! I'd like to suggest to the developer to read the recent comments here as I see that MANY other people are as annoyed as I am. Please do not abandon your roots. Please return the basic simplicity and functionality of the app, and let those who want the other features to access them without (disrespectfully) shoving them in front of everyone's face. Thank you.

Have to pay to rewind. Overall I think Insight Timer is pretty good. There is a ton of content you can access for free. It can be a bit to dig through to find what you like, but once you do, it’s a great resource. However, if you’re listening to a talk and want to skip back a few seconds so you can write something down, tough luck. There are ‘skip back’ and ‘skip forward’ buttons but if you click them you’re redirected to subscribe so you can access the ‘advanced player.’ The abundance of free content means I’ve never felt a need to shell out $60 for Member Plus status. I’m certainly not going to for the privilege of rewinding. Also the rating system is weighted towards good reviews. I started listening to a 45 minute talk that turned out to be very amateurish and condescending. I discovered that Insight Timer requires you to listen to at least half a recording before you are allowed to review. I understand why they do this, but it seriously skews results. No one is going to sit through 23 minutes of that talk just so they can leave a review. With this policy in place it’s highly unlikely you’re ever going to see less than a 3.5 star average review. Just something to be aware of.

I’ve been using Insight for YEARS!. Truthfully, there is no better app for meditating whether you are just beginning your journey or have already found and are simply improving your zen. You’ve found the app you are probably looking for. The guided meditations are my favorite because my brain has a habit of wandering off to things I need/want to do later, maybe a conversation that already happened, where the person is going whose loud car just drove by... so listening to someone else guide my thoughts into focus by following my breath is EXACTLY what I never knew I needed. They have tons of instrumentals you can choose from, which I have used before and practiced yoga or just worked on something with it playing in the background. Oh my, and endless sleep sounds like will knock you ouuuuut. The actually timer within the app, I honestly probably use the least. So, if you are on the fence about if this should be the one you download because you don’t just want to delete after a few weeks or months because you didn’t get out of it what you thought... you do what you choose. ✨

UPDATE: Was an excellent app, now bloated…. I started using this app from the recommendation of a family member. Very easy to use and motivating for my practice. I like that it keeps stats and goals. Many of the guided meditations are very good. Like a free meditation course. Excellent! UPDATE: Docking 2 stars for what this app has turned into. I started using this app again and find the new UI completely convoluted and bloated with “features” I don’t need. It’s difficult to even find the meditation TIMER function in an app that’s called “Insight Timer.” I mean this is/was the most basic core function of the app. Guess what? I finally found it - a little button amongst a grab bag of other buttons in a tab ambiguously called called “Discover” which also has a whole array of poorly organized redundant stuff that you can also find in the “Home” and “Learn” tabs. Then there’s the “social networking” function which they’re really pushing, but I have no interest in. Fine. Why must every app developer turn their simple, easy to use apps into bloated, convoluted messes of stuff that most of us never asked for? And why must every app become a social media app!?

Self Acceptance. A message I wrote to just one of the many teachers available to you with Insight Timer: Thank you Paz. For the 30 day mantra challenge❤️. I am 55 years and meditation is new to me. I gave myself permission to pursue this challenge using the body and mind I currently have (busy and distracted with many joys, passions and concerns) and so I started the challenge laying down in bed in the morning (cozy), I enjoyed it so much I sometimes did 5 sessions a day as I washed dishes and did the laundry and walked the dog❤️. I let myself be who I am at this moment, someone entirely new to mantras and meditation, and so added the challenge to my life without trying to do it perfectly. Sometimes I sang along. Sometimes I just listened. Sometimes I picked up after my dog. —-> it didn’t matter, I came out the other side of the challenge a more calm, present, peaceful person. I was fascinated to be able to feel the vibration of my singing in my heart with my hand set on my chest. It’s so exciting to be learning something so extraordinary at this time in my life. I am listening and participating again now with my quieter mind. This has improved every aspect of my life. I also listen often to your album Inner Light. Thank you Paz for this gift. Thank you Insight Timer❤️

Adjusting the previous rating I made. 6-8 months ago my insight timer app stopped working but the developers worked for several months to try to fix the issue, to no avail. They even checked in with me months after that to see if it still wasn’t working and I had to tell them it wasn’t. I continued to recommend the app because I believe in it and their customer service was outstanding (even though I was not a premium customer)! I would check monthly to see if I was able to use the app and was often disheartened when it would fail each time. Fast forward to just a few short weeks ago… I re-downloaded the app to see if it would finally work and to my astonishment and glee, it opened right up for me and didn’t glitch and stop working. I had access again to the app!!!! I did lose my extensive saved libraries, but I don’t care about that! I am just thrilled to have access to the app once again! I use it every once day at least and I am so very very grateful to have it back and working well. A huge thank you to the Insight Timer team for whatever they did to make it work for me and for trying so hard to fix it for me months ago. I will continue to recommend the app as I always have. Much gratitude to all of you!

I’ve been using this app for years. Like the title says, I have been using this app on and off for year! I’ve tried other apps and always come back to this one. I used it before the current owners took over and the changes in the app continue to support and inspire my journey. When people recommend other apps, I turn around and offer this one and rave about it. A long time ago a told a doctor about one of my life theories and she told me to look into Buddhism. From there I turned to meditation. It helps to control my symptoms better than most medications and there are no negative side effects! Since I’ve come back to the app lately, I love that I can find something that I need to work on in the moment by a simple search and that I can refer to my library. I also love that I can pick a guided meditation based on the amount of time I have to dedicate so that I don’t have to skip a day or I can go deeper if I have the time! I love the evolution the app has taken and look forward to all that is yet to come. I will continue to tell people about this app. Thank you for such a great app!

Thank you for this wonderful resource 🦋🌺. This app offers so much to so many people—Much more than a meditation timer! It offers free and low cost talks on many aspects of life, guided meditations, groups, short courses, connections to other meditators, inspiration and more. Need help with relaxing? Or calming anxiety, working with depression, chronic pain, sleeplessness, body image? All of these and more are here. The teachers include those who are enlightened and share their peace, wise and humble teachers who share their understanding from years on the path, beloved for their human qualities of sincerity, vulnerability and compassion. Since there are many facets to inner deepening and many places to begin or delve deeply—this is a wonderful tool/app and I thank its creators and all who participate as guides and as participants. I do have a few requests. Is it possible to get a pure clear tone on the timer? An example would be Eckhart Tolle’s perfectly tuned and light, ringing chime. A second suggestion is an option for an array of seconds of a large quartz crystal singing bowl being toned around its perimeter. Both of these would be cleansing and beautiful to hear. Thank you.

A quality app, but could use some upgrades. I love this app- it gives you access to hundreds and hundreds and of options for your personal meditation needs. You can browse by topic, 'teacher' or guide, or see tracks that are similar or related to ones you're using. When you find tracks that you like or want to remember to try you can bookmark them, but it would be so helpful if you could create playlists. Or maybe if you were able to group tracks together so you don't have to interrupt your session if you want to play more than one. This would be especially helpful for the sleep tracks. Many are very good and effective, but can be short in length causing you to wake when it ends before or just as you're about to drift off. Having the ability to play tracks back to back would eliminate this. It would also help if you could leave notes or comments on the tracks as a reminder to yourself. Sometimes there is something I want to remember about a track but I don't want others to see it. Having a function aside from the shared review to make notes would be great.

Preferred the older version. I enjoy and appreciate Insight Timer very much. The one “upgrade” I would like less of are the photos that dominate the first screen when app opens. Meditation is most often a private experience...and less a public one...and in a growing culture of rabid oversharing, privacy is the luxury. I enjoyed seeing how many hundreds of thousands of people had meditated each day, and I love the world map pulsing dots—these were the features that made me feel a part of a larger whole. Now that there are always smiling carefully-cultivated “happy” photos occupying half the screen upon opening the app...it’s distracting and seems off track for this app’s audience and intention to provide a digital quiet place to BE. To take a short break from the comparison/competition mindset and instead further develop the inner channel of self care, wellness (each-on-our-own-terms) and the time and space to nurture our innermost depths, honoring the beauty and diversity of those processes. Meditate because it nurtures the essential YOU and welcome That Person into the larger conversation of sharing this planet. I ask the developers to consider a photo-free or photo-lite alternative👍🏽😊. Thanks!

Don’t call it a timer, because it can’t keep time…. I use to love this app and for years it was my favorite app, but it no longer is able to manage it’s basic functionality. The timer function constantly pauses during calls and won’t restart no matter what, or just completely shuts down during sessions. The Insight support usually has the same tired response, re-download it etc. etc, but nothing is working. That and the app would also loose my day count for meditation whenever I flew out of my time zone. The app was sold several years ago and their became a rapid shift towards competing with other mindfulness apps like Headspace and Calm. It is clear that the new developers are much more interested in creating a new age social network and promoting different healers, many of which seem unvetted. All of this functionality seems fine, but to let go of the basic timer function is disappointing and doesn’t seem like much of a technological challenge. Bottom line this should be called INSIGHT SOCIAL NETWORK or CHEAP GURU, but when TIMER is in your name and you can’t even keep time, what’s the point. They also don’t really give a crap about customer complaints because this is now years that I have been dealing with this issue. In the end, I lost my Zen due to my meditation timer app which is a dark joke in itself. Goodbye insight!

All the features you could want and then some. I like that it's versatile enough that I can also use it when I want to do yin yoga where I hold each pose for five minutes. Over time I've been starting to use features I thought I didn't even want at first, like joining groups and listening to guided meditations. This app has everything. (And if you just want a timer that starts and ends with a gong sound, it can do that too, although it does take long enough to load that if you just want a timer you might want something simpler.) Really I'm kind of astonished that subscription-based meditation apps even exist, given how good Insight Timer is. One minor complaint...I do wish there was a way to opt out of being shown your “streak” at the end of every meditation session. I realize many people appreciate the feature, but I would really, really like to be able to opt out of it. It’s like a little guilt-trip when I miss a day or just...meditate or do yoga without using the app. Or, when I do have a good streak going, I’m still irritated because I don’t want to be “rewarded” for using the app each time.

Don’t need all the bells and whistles. I want the timer to again state the number of consecutive days I’ve meditated when I press “finish.” Why did they remove this feature? What app developers never seem to understand is “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” P.S. I’ve had this app since before it was a pseudo-social app and it was just a simple, elegant, functioning meditation timer. Update: contacted about the missing consecutive days tracker. Prompt response was, “but it works for me, see?” So I sent a screenshot of my black screen after I press “finish,” and curiously haven’t gotten a response since. Sigh… Update 2: Reinstalled app, to see if it would fix my issue (as suggested). Well, that made the consecutive days come back, but also changed many of my settings. 🙄 Changed my settings back, oh, but wait, now getting the black screen again (after a day). Maybe you can ONLY get the consecutive days tracker if you have “show who you meditated with” enabled (or whatever it’s called). in other words, they are forcing you to engage in the social media aspect of the app. Very frustrating. Seems there is probably some “tech bro millionaire” jealousy going on and the developers really, really want to make this app into a purely financial venture. Good for them?

This is it!. This is the free guided meditation app with minimal obvious data mining that I have been looking for. I feel comfortable using the app, which is easy to understand with a pleasant and intuitive interface. There is a lot of content to discover. I appreciate the diversity of the teachers, both backgrounds and styles. I did not have to answer a bunch of personal questions to get started but that kind of filtering is optional if you want it. I did not have to make an account or set up yet another password. It is really and truly free to use long term, but it is easy to donate to your favorite teachers if you are so able and so inclined. There is a social media aspect available but it is not required. I never would have found this app based on just the name but I’m so glad I read a review somewhere and decided to try it. It is non-threatening, inclusive, feels private with my opt-outs, and is very easy to get started. It even works with my truly crummy rural internet. Thank you so much, lovely people who make Insight Timer work! You’ve given me exactly what I was looking for.

Can’t go without it now. I’m hooked!. My son is 11 and has severe ADHD and PTSD with Anxiety and Depression. I am currently trying to overcome a 17 yearlong abusive and toxic relationship. I have learned to love meditation as a recovery tool and I am grateful for the recommendation to try this method and to continue learning to meditate and use it for my daily life. It is never easy and it’s a learned practice and discipline to be mastered. I am grateful to have found insight timer and had no idea about the app or the array of options available for free and the Plus courses for which I am currently working on where to begin because there are so many different options available and such excellent content for anyone going through any kind of situation or at any point of their journey. I am just excited to have this as a daily tool for me and my son and cannot imagine going without. Amazing and talented people on Insight Timer and the community is so supportive and awesome! Positive all around! Thank you for creating this app and world of learning for us all to access and become part of! Beautiful work! Thank you all for sharing this with us and the world.

Upgrades don’t make sense. Update: Long time user and still daily user BUT seriously considering other meditation apps now. Since the latest updates, the app is so incredibly slow to open that I give up on using it. It freezes when using the groups area, which means connecting with other meditators is frustrating and disruptive to the whole process. Also, I can’t get rid of the annoying happy face- how are you feeling graphic that I have no need of to sustain my meditation practice. With every update this app gets worse and harder to navigate. Sadly I no longer recommend this to friends anymore. I have used this app for 4 years. It has been a great tool for helping my daily meditation practice. When courses began, I bought several and really enjoyed them. However with this most recent update, white font and gray backgrounds for descriptions?!? I simply can’t read these. So while I’d like to try new offerings (of which there are many) I can’t read them so simply go to my bookmarked ones. And while I understand that the developers need this to be a sustainable revenue stream I really miss the opportunity to purchase one course at a time. This has been a fantastic app in the past and with a few tweaks could be so again.

Used to Be A Great App. This was a great app I used for many years, I think close to 10. Insight Timer provided a nice structure for my practice sittings. Also had a great format to connect with others I met at meditation retreats and such, and see how many people around the planet were meditating at the same time – cool! Unfortunately, in the past few years they have made it more commercialized with all sorts of intrusive video and audio recordings and live workshops, as well as making a more sophisticated profile of me linked to other health related apps. There are so many other apps out there doing that already and I am disappointed Insight Timer could not remain a simple helpful tool. I’m not a fan of self-help culture, especially when meditation practice fully opens the door to self-growth without requiring guided self-affirmations and reassurances from strangers on the internet I find mindfulness practice is a true internal source of strength and wellness all by itself. With the most recent updates (Fall 2021) they added smiley-faced feedback after each meditation setting! That was really too much for me. I don’t see how their new anxious commercialization and overactive self-help mindset fits the spirit of meditative transformational practice like it used to. Sadly had to delete the app.

One of my favorite apps!. First off I love the low monthly price compared to all the other Meditation apps like headspace and such. And even without the monthly subscription there’s already so much more available to you compared to the other apps. Even with the newer extra packs you can buy the price is still low and you get so much more for your money! I downloaded it for the guided meditations, have yet to use it as I love the calming music so much and my presets. But I love the fact that it’s available to me when I decide I need it. And there’s so many different people and meditations to choose from! I also love that I’m able to turn off messages from others if I don’t want you use that feature. The only thing that’s hard for me is the lay out. But for the most part I’ve figured everything out. So that’s more of an annoyance than a problem. But I would like to be able to find the types of music and music for sleeping, peace etc. easier. That would be awesome. Beside the music keep up the amazing work! You’re doing awesome and I will never not recommend your app.

The BEST meditation app there is!. I've been through quite a few meditation apps, but Insight Timer is by far the best and the one I've been using consistently for months now and plan to continue using. Unlike other apps that only feature their own meditations or require you to pay to access all of them, Insight Timer allows users to upload their own meditations and there is an enormous catalog with more added each day. Also, you can choose from the amount of time to the category of meditation you want and see/leave ratings and reviews on anything. As if this weren't great enough, it also has the best meditation timer I've seen in any app. Set any amount of time or infinite time, add the bell of your choice from one to three times, beginning and/or end and/or intervals. AND beyond these wonderful things, it offers groups to enter for support or kind messages, and it logs your progress! It's so great to be able to see how many days consecutively you've meditated and for me this is a huge motivator not to miss a day. It's also interesting to see your days and weeks compared and how much time total you've spent on the timer vs guided meditations. Recommend this app to anyone and everyone who enjoys being relaxed and grounded!(I.e. Every human being)

Great app with several limitations. I love this app, I really do, but unfortunately there’s some limitations that make it difficult to use under certain situations. I paid for the upgrade. There are many Courses included with the premium membership that are fabulous. The daily Insights are also wonderful. The problem is not with the content. The limitation is that The Course tracks and the Daily Insights don’t repeat. So you’ll be trying to fall asleep while listening to a 10 minute meditation and when it’s over, if you haven’t fallen asleep, you’ll need to dig around for your glasses in the dark (if you’re like me) then find your phone, to manually restart the meditation. Or like yesterday, after the start of a migraine the same thing. I’m getting very frustrated, having to continually do this with each meditation. They have the ‘repeat’ function on the regular guided meditations, but just not on Course tracks or Daily Insights. Why? I’m really sorry to bash such a great app, and it truly is a great app but again, those limitations really knock it down a few stars for me. In addition, there is no way to bookmark Course tracks or Daily Insights or download them as a Premium member, like you can do with the regular guided meditations. Not sure if I can find a better meditation app, but these limitations are going to make me try to seek one out.

A Worthy and Well-Done App. I have been using Insight Timer for many years, years before they introduced the paid membership. It has always been and continues to be one of the most beloved and used apps on my devices. I recommend it to people all the time. When they did introduce the paid level of membership, I was so impressed with the thoughtfulness and intentionality they used in deciding how to move forward with that. They took nothing from the existing experience, only added features that some might consider paying for. Honestly, this is one of only 2 apps on my devices that I am happy to pay annually; happy because I both get so very much out of it and also because I am so grateful to those who are making it possible. I want to offer payment in gratitude and recognition of a job well done. The app has changed a lot over the years, but I am always delighted by it, impressed with the content, and grateful that it makes mediation and mindfulness in my life so wonderfully accessible. Thank you, Insight Timer.

Why Insight Timer is my favorite app. Insight Timer is wonderful. I love the variety of offerings, teachers who the reflect the cultures in our world, the many approaches, from mindfulness to music. I learned about something new to help me fall asleep, Yoga Nidra. Sometimes I just try something or someone completely new, and through that have discovered some favorite teachers and readers. I tried some other meditation apps before I found Insight Timer. This is the best meditation app in my opinion, because there’s plenty of content to explore and it’s free. I did buy the Premium membership when it was on sale, so that I could take some courses and also to support IT, their staff and teachers. I listen to a meditation every night and sometimes during the day. The coronavirus talks and meditations have been outstanding and full of variety. Not everything is to my taste or needs, but it’s all such high quality that I know I can find what I need at a given time. I recommend Insight Timer frequently. Thank you for creating it.

Lifesaver🙏🏻. I turn to this app many times a day and refer it to my recovery family frequently. As a sponsor and in many different forums for quitting drinking there is a boredom, an emptiness that quitting your vice leaves behind. I leave any of the Insight Timer apps meditations, breath-work, yoga, affirmations, and live talks with positivity and a lightness in my step and in my heart for the remainder of the day. Whether it’s a morning meditation, afternoon enlightening pick me up, or night time wind down, this has become my new healthy habit for 2023 and I’m sharing it with so many in recovery-even from cigarettes or sugar-who rely on it when they are feeling irritable, angry, bored, lonely, and any other way that would cause them to reach for a vice. I would like to see some free challenges on the calendar that are easy to find for newcomers. Something as easy as a 7 or 10 day check in could help many people with over eating, cigarettes, drinking, etc. as a new healthy habit. I loved the healthy habits challenge of 2023 and have gone back to it frequently. Thanks so much for my continued sobriety.

Love the app. Amazing meditation app! Only one I actually pay for☺️ My only wish was that you could provide live sessions to Australia too. Most of the mediations that are live are either on at early parts of the morning or not suitable to do during that part of the night or day. For example most live session are morning meditations when I’m getting ready to sleep, or the yoga practise is for your body to wake up, when I’m getting ready to sleep and vice versa. Peace ❤️🙏

So many meditations for all needs!. I’ve had many meditation apps in the past and nothing compares to the vast array of meditation options, teachers and investment choices. Essentially they are free unless you fee to donate a small or large amount to your favorite teacher or session. The choices of topics and styles feel infinite and the hundreds of teachers provide a soothing sound for every taste level! I have sent this app to clients and friends and shared at least 50 times! And will keep doing so! BEST APP EVER!!! Thank you!!!

Best app for those that struggle to keep habits. I have always wanted to meditate regularly and have tried different apps, courses, group classes but nothing helped me keep up a regular and consistent practices until I was recommend this app. It makes meditating not only easy but fun, and I have actually found it addictive! To be able to choose exactly the kind of meditation I want depending on my needs that day has been such a gift. I am so greatful that it is free too. I am so grateful to this app for changing my life for the better. No exaggeration! 🙏🏽💗🌞💓🙌🏽

Excellent choices available. This is an excellent app!!! It has an amazing selection of meditations, talks about a variety of subjects, live sessions, yoga classes and music as well. I can search for subjects or teachers and save things that I’ve listened to or that I think willl be good. This is all on the free version!!!! I’ve only been using this app a week or so & It’s quite different to another meditation app that I have been using for sometime (and pay for), I am super grateful that it was recommended to me and I tried it out.

Not loving the new layout. I have been using this app for a few years now and I love it, hands down a fantastic app. My only gripe, and the reason I'm giving only 4 stars, is that since releasing courses and updating the layout, it takes quite some time to navigate past the courses to just get to individual guided meditations. I understand this is a free app and it's important that you push the courses, however I use this app every night and I'm often still finding myself going into the wrong section or going through multiple screens just to find what I'm looking for. That aside, fantastic app with fantastic meditations

Adieu 🥲. My love affair with IT seems, sadly, to be ending. We are still friends, but it is standing me up too often. Since it upgraded I have had no end of trouble, first with the timer not turning off when it should, and so recording all sorts of absurdly long (19 hours?!) of mediation in my stats; and now it often takes so long to respond that i think it has frozen (not very soothing at all!!😝) And if anything else happens on my phone while the timer is running (eg I go to a different app for my audio) then the timer stops running in the background. It seems to have become so loaded up with other functions that the basic timer (which for the past several years I have been using three+ times each day) doesnt work properly any more. Here's my original review from before the two upgrades: Lovely bells, and a beautiful non-commercial space in which to connect a little with others (with as few words as you please) to support practice. Very inspring to know how many thousands of peeps are meditating at the same time as I am in the privacy of my own room at home. For beginners who want all the bells and whistles it might still be good. And - who knows - perhaps when I upgrade my iphone 7 plus, the IT app will behave again. But for now I am drifting away from using it, owing to the frustration.

Life changing, simply the best meditation app out there. I am so so grateful for Insight Timer, I use it every day and it has helped me through some incredibly tough times. The teachers are wonderful, and there is something for everybody with a very user friendly interface to search for what you are looking for. I have been a member for about 2 years now and the things I love about it are: 1. There is always something new 2. There is a genuine sense of community and shared gratitude for the teachers 3. The teachers are divine human beings who give their teachings with love and expertise 4. There is so much on there for free, whilst I gladly pay for the membership, for those that can’t afford it or just want to try it out, the amount of free content on there is far beyond any other app that I know of. 5. There is a sleep mode for when listening to guided meditations at night. As someone who has chronic health conditions and in chronic pain, I can’t tell you how much this has helped me keep calm and centred. Blessings to everyone involved in creating this app. 🙏🙏🙏💛💛💛

Love love love this .... This app has changed the way I look at meditation. There are so many options at the tips of your fingers depending on your mood, including gorgeous sounds of nature, Tibetan bowls (which I absolutely adore) and guided sessions with speakers who are so wise. That is only the tip of the iceberg - I've been doing this for 3 weeks now and haven't missed a day. I so look forward to my daily meditation with Insight Timer - give it a go. It could change your life like it did mine!

To Dear Insight Timer. Hi to Insight Timer, Dear Insight Timer, I have been a loyal customer of your service for a while now. And I continue to praise your service with the utmost gratitude. Dear Insight Timer, since I updated this app recently, I have noticed, that there has been changes with the layout of the bookmarked section of the app. I see now you have a list view instead of a tiled view of these bookmarked meditation images, and that you have also placed smaller coloured tiles of the inside of each meditation image. Dear Insight Timer, how I appreciate you. How I love your service. I adore your service and would do anything to help you. It is unfortunately, for me, now, a challenge to try and utilise these bookmarked meditations. As the coloured tiles inserted inside the images make it hard to work with, and the list layout, instead of the tiled view, of the bookmarked section, changes the view as well. Dear Insight Timer, would it be at all possible, if you could add in a free second layout option in the bookmarked list, and without the smaller coloured tiles inserted on top of the images? Just so that people are able to view this original tiled layout, without the smaller coloured tiles that are overlayed on these meditation images? I would be profoundly grateful. I am incredibly grateful for your service and appreciate everything you do 🙏

I am so impressed & thankful. My psychologist suggested 3 apps in which to try my journey into meditation. I read the reviews for Insight Timer & thought I’d give this one a go. I wouldn’t say I was a sceptic of meditation etc, but I wouldn’t say that I was one to be eager to try. But here I am. I. Love. This. App. I’m not into the woo, I’m an atheist. But there’s something for everyone. I’m loving the guided meditations for us beginners. I love the workshops. I love the courses. I loooove the deep sleep meditation music. I haven’t paid the yearly subscription yet. I said YET! Because there’s the strong chance I will, soon. There is so much to explore that’s free. Which is so awesome. But there’s a number of courses I’m planning to do which require the subscription. I do believe this would be the first time I wouldn’t begrudgingly pay it or just delete & move on. I’ve been suffering with chronic insomnia for quite some time, a combination of the medications & pain. I have 2 severe degenerative spinal diseases & permanent bilateral sciatica. This app has helped me tremendously and it’s been just 7 days in. LBDharma & his tracks are just 🤌👌 Cannot thank you enough

Best meditation resource. I have tried several meditation apps and I’m willing to pay for a good one. This is the best I’ve found with more free high quality content than any other. I am fairly deaf so guided meditations usually don’t work for me, however the timed meditation is excellent with the ability to custom it. Thank you for an excellent app. If the fees were a little cheaper I would pay, just to support the app and the teachers, however the free content is more than enough for me. Thank you! 🙏🏼💕

Great app. Previous reviewers have said a lot about the useful features of this app and I therefore won’t repeat those thoughts. I personally use three features: the actual timer, the stats and reward part and the social networking feature. All of them are great. The timer works well and is flexible enough to be adapted to my personal needs. The rewards (not compulsory) are a fantastic motivator to meditate regularly and the social feature (not compulsory either) is gentle and not in your face like Facebook for example. The only slightly negative comment I like to make is about the user interface which I find a bit awkward and slightly confusing in its design. But that’s a minor point; if it would be more elegant and simple I’d give the app 5/5. Recent changes made to the first screen that comes up after a timed session might be a good start for some redesign. Finally: the app is free and the developers have decided to keep it this way unless you choose some enhancements. Good compromise. Overall: I’m very happy with the app!

Meditating to change my life. Thank you to everyone who put this IT app together. I love the guided meditations and occasionally dabble in timed. I've been meditating now for 82 days - 76 consecutively and I love it. In this last week I've noticed a real change in my inner peace and happiness. I also love all the interaction with people from all over the world with the same goal. Simply amazing. I've also made many new friends here. Thank you from the bottom of my peaceful heart 💜 Have a magical day ✨ 💖 Much love ❤️

Changes are not an improvement. Insight Timer used to be in my top 5 apps. I have used it every day for nearly 500 days and the new UX changes today are so disappointing. Guys! The quote on white was what I looked forward to before my morning meditation and I have to sift through the menus to find the timer. This is your core feature and you are making it hard to find!!! Feel this is pleasing shareholders (these changes appear to make me experience more of your app) at the expense of me as a meditator. Really disappointed, sorry. Hope it’s not final but as we all know, everything is impermanent so it’s kind of my issue… but still… :) Cheers ⚡️🙏

From beginner to expert, this app is a great fit for all!. I’ve been meditating for about seven years now, and I wish this app had been with me for this entire journey. I rarely write reviews, but this amazing medium for all things mindful truly deserved some kind words. Show your inner-child, your mind and most importantly your higher-self (not the body, mind or emotions) some serious gratitude by downloading this incredible technological advancement in the Science of Spirituality! Did you catch that? Peace and blessings to you. 🙏🏽

Relieved. I am six days into the 21day guided meditation. I have found a definite change in my attitude of the past two days. Considering I sleep through most of it I wouldn’t have believed I could feel this change. After two years of feeling really lost and low following a trauma situation I have found something that is really helping me get well. I think it’s nurturing me and that’s something I’ve lacked for a long long time. So thumbs up from me

Best meditation app!. I have been using Insight Timer for many years and I believe it is the best meditation app around. With so many meditations to choose from and the ability to filter by subject, length of time, background music and much more, you are sure to find something that suits. Plus, you can save your favourite tracks or teachers to quickly and easily access them. Can’t recommend this highly enough 👍🏼👍🏼

The search ability does not work 🙄. Edit: It seems to have now been fixed, thanks guys 🙂 Hi guys, I appreciate the amazing app and all the hard work that has gone into making it. Recently, I have noticed that when I try to search for a keyword under search in-app, for a particular meditation, such as the keywords “happiness” or “presence”, nothing is loading or showing results. I hope you guys are able to fix this bug. I also use a vpn, so it may or may not something to do with this also. Thank you guys 🙏

Life changing app.💙. Love it!! Best meditation app I’ve ever used! And I’ve tried quite a few. It’s functional, easy to navigate, helpful & restorative. So many meditations to choose from which surprised me. I’ve broadened my knowledge and expanded my mind. I’ve learnt so much via the beautiful guided meditations in this app. Options to select how long you want to meditate for is a great option. Plus the amazing teachers & education that is there if you want it. For free! It’s life changing. I highly recommend Insight Timer. Especially if you are new to meditating, this is a great place to start.

Amazing!!!. I am SO grateful that my friend introduced me to this app. I have tried numerous times to meditate daily but I always fall off the bandwagon after a few days. This app has changed everything for me and I love how it tracks my practice which gives me the incentive to keep going. I love how it records milestones and achievements, I'm up to 16 consecutive days now and I'm committing to 365 days. It's great how I can also connect with like minded souls, locally and globally, who are meditating at the same time as me. I use the timer and also the "Live Awake" guided meditations by Sarah Blondin. Her voice is incredibly healing and has me in tears most days because she speaks right to my heart, it's beautiful and very powerful. Best app I've downloaded in a long time! THANK YOU🙏🏻💕

Excellent app. I tried lots of different apps for guided meditation but this easily has the most free content. I started with the seven day introductory course into meditation. It was great. It took me a while to stick with it and incorporate it into a daily habit but I’m slowly getting there. I haven’t paid for the premium version as I don’t particularly like subscription based models and would prefer a one off fee but I might do the seven day trial. Overall, this is an excellent app with a fantastic amount of free content in comparison to other meditation and mindfulness apps out there.

Thank you. Insight timer has been my companion when all else fails and always brought me light and hope. The fact it is free for those in tough times and it’s ease of use and clear simplicities will keep me faithful to Insight Timer and soon I hope to pay the full fee. I have tried other apps but found them too complicated, too hard to find what I need. Insight Timer is just perfect in every way and I thank you all so very much. Please uphold your beautiful core beliefs. I think it’s why you are so successful. 🙏💕

Most Amazing Meditation app. An awesome app filled with hundreds of types of meditation catered for people of all ages & all stages of their meditation journey & all for free!! It even has filters so you can select guided or unguided, with or without music and amount of time you have to spend, be it 5minutes or 1hour. I especially love the soothing sleep music for my kids at night and use the presets to create music for my reiki sessions. Can not recommend it enough!! Thank you to all the brains behind insight timers and all the teachers contributing to this amazing meditation library!

For absolutely everyone. If you’re starting our your meditation journey this is a fantastic app to start. There are so many different teachers to guide you or sounds so you can ground yourself, I couldn’t recommend this app more. I’m still in the beginning stages and I feel like I have come so far. I started with the free version and have upgraded so I can have meditations on loop and rewind, but the free features give you access to everything you need. 10/10 recommend you start here ❤️

Helping me a lot. I knew this app for a long time, but it wasn't until recently that I started to use it. It is really helping me. After I went through the betrayals from the one who you trusted and loved most, arrest, jail, the things that I never thought about that will happen to me in my whole life, I got into deep depression. This app is really helping me to relax, learning let it go, forgive and go to sleep. I love the content, it would be great if they could have more mandarin content supported. I will have to go back to my country soon, and I hope I can continue to use it there.

The Perfect Mindfulness Mix. I stumbled across this app and it is magical!! After trying out a few meditation apps, I find that this one is the right one for me, mainly because of the variety of options to choose from. There is meditation, yoga, sound healing, breath work and the live events held by the teachers who provide the recorded sessions are a fantastic bonus! I find myself browsing through to find a session on a daily basis. The variety allows me to not break my habit because I can practice mindfulness in so many different ways. I lost motivation with the meditation apps because I started looking for specific ones that they either didn’t provide or were laid out as morning meditations which didn’t work throughout the day. With Insight Timer, I do not have that issue anymore. Absolutely recommend it to everyone - beginners or well practiced people alike!

FOR EVERY NEED. I have been using Insight Timer for many years now and find it invaluable on a daily basis. The functionality and features are constantly upgraded and the thousands upon thousands of meditations, talks, music ( including binaural/Solfeggio undertones) interviews etc ensure that for every need you search, you will receive dozens of options. It’s a kind and supportive community where you can connect with others from as close to your own town to as far as the other side of the globe. I wouldn’t want to be without it. ♥️♥️

Meditation made easy for everyone one.... It's easy to navigate and, exploring all the wonderful meditations across all topics transformative so user friendly. Give yourself some time to explore and your view of world as you know it, will expand exponentially, mine has and growing each day. I find the most unique and universal part of this app is the global connection to everyone on planet earth through the groups and forums. Check out the global map displays of live members practicing, sharing, thriving and empowering you on your journey. My favourite part though is knowing that there is something bigger than myself that I feel connected to even more now, and I can share that with other human beings. Thank you Thank you for creating an amazing platform for everyone. Note the circle ⭕️ feature is unique to ITimer. My daily routine includes listening to live teachings. It’s like a radio station for the inner realms of our mind, thoughts and new learnings. If you turn up, with an open mindset, you will be able to find and dial in to what your interested in. Think the largest thought library 📚 and your halfway there.

Amazing. Transformative. Generous. Eye Opening. I use the app almost every day. For the first year I used the free version but out of consideration for the amazing contributors, I purchased an annual subscription which I have renewed. I’ve found so many great contributors who have made a huge difference to my meditation practice and equipped me with the tools to help deal with the pressures in every day life. I often use the background music or nature sounds to help me get to sleep or just to relax. The selection is huge. Highly highly recommended app.

Amazing app, two changes please!. There are many wonderful meditations within this app and it is easy to navigate the features. Two things I would like to see added are, first, the ability to delete meditations from your library to free up space. Second is for the app to recognise your favourite teachers that you as a user of the app play regularly, and to suggest more meditations from these teachers after ‘check in’ instead of a lot of random teachers.

The best app I have. This app has been invaluable for me. When I was about to start treatment for cancer, one of the oncology nurses recommended it to help with sleep. I have used it for everything from sleep to healing, to helping during periods of anxiety or depression, and for abundance. It really has an impact, particularly when I’m consistent with it. I’ve used it nearly every day for the past year and I love that it’s free (I’ve given a couple of donations but I appreciate that I don’t have to pay a monthly subscription fee). I also love that there are so many different people whose meditations you can choose from, so you can find which ones resonate with you. It’s so great that the meditations are all different durations, so you can either settle in to long ones or, if that feels too much, you can do little five minute ones (or longer or shorter). I also find it helpful to be able to search the topic for what I need that day and I will always be served loads of results. Being able to bookmark the ones I like and create playlists is super helpful too. I HIGHLY recommend this app and have done so to many many people - friends and family plus strangers going through similar medical treatments to me.

I have nothing but Love for I.T !. Awesome app ! I stumbled on insight timer when I was deliberating if I should renew "my other" app subscription. When I started to experience the variety of meditations from various teachers I knew I didn't need another app. Some teachers offer better quality than others but it's so easy to follow and bookmark sessions that appeal to me. Since day one the app has worked smoothly. I love the genuine sense of community and caring that is instilled by its creators. The milestone feature is a very good goal and motivational tool too.

Sleeping Better With Insight Timer. Since joining Insight Timer, I started meditating and then I committed to using it daily. It helps me to get to sleep a lot faster. I’ve also tried many of the other meditations to help deal with pain, relaxation, stress and anxiety. There are such a wide array of contributors/teachers and courses as well as guided meditations and beautiful soothing music that I have deleted several other Apps that were not as good from my device. I believe Insight Timer has something for everyone, no matter whether you are from a different culture or follow the Christian tradition, are agnostic, Buddhist or from another faith or no faith. You choose the style and type of music or meditation that pleases you.

Great app but glitches. Wonderful app with many different resources and activities! The only two things would be that there are glitches which prevent people from ‘friending’ another person on the app, and not letting you answer meditation questions. It keeps telling me I’ve reached my quota of 5 friend requests per day- but I haven’t befriended 5 people that day. It would be great if this was fixed- it would make the app perfect! Sometimes it won’t let you answer the question at the end of the meditation session as well.

Brilliant Meditation App. What I love most about this app is that they offer thousands of meditations and talks free. I’ve been using the app free for over a year and have found teachers that I love and have donated privately directly to them as a thank you for all they offer. You can also pay a yearly subscription and get access to longer courses on all kinds of subjects. I am seriously considering doing just that because I use this app every day and, having tried other apps like Calm and Headspace, consider this meditation app to be so much better. 🙏🏻

Hooked. I have loved the Insight Timer since first downloading it, and starting to listen. There is something for everyone, and it is even easier to find/browse now with great new update. I can't even meditate properly, but I'm learning to focus, and listen, follow, and accept whatever happens - and it feels good. There are so many interesting and different teachers to choose from, and new items coming up all the time. I would highly recommend this app to all who would like to explore new possibilities and experiences.

Great tool for anyone who wants to give meditation a go or who is a regular meditator. I’ve been using this for a while now since it was recommended to me on a men’s retreat. I am not a fifth dan Buddhist monk level meditator - but I do meditate 10-20 minutes a day and the timer function alone is great for that with the bells and chimes allowing you to set various points in your meditation to meditate and pray on different things if that’s something you do. The ambient sounds (which you can turn on and off s’s you choose) are useful too if you’re using headphones and meditating somewhere busy or noisy. Or they’re good if you just want to add a bit of calming background noise. Then the massive library of free timed guided meditations and courses provides a wealth of good stuff if you want to explore meditation or have some very good practitioners take you psychic places with their words. Essentially this is a really well put together app - a must for anyone who uses meditation in busy, modern lives loaded with good features and excellent content by some great practitioners - give it a crack, it’s free!

My accountability and motivation. I used Insight Timer for years for meditation, courses, exercises exploration, and experimentation with new techniques for centring body and mind. Since training in Vedic meditation I use the timer for my 20 min, twice daily meditations. Using the timer allows me to to track my meditation habits. It motivates me to see how long I can go before breaking the chain AND I love watching the hours accumulate. It keeps me accountable and motivates me. If I had more hours in the day I would be utilising the app even more! The courses are top class. Highly recommend. So much in the free version of the app, so very grateful to the developers and contributors. 🙏🏻

Achieving their goal…. One of Insight Timer’s goal was to create the biggest library of meditations and I believe they are achieving that and as a bonus they have the best app out there. I’ve been using it for a few years now on a very regular basis and to me this is of a gold standard. One of the reasons I chose Insight Timer in the beginning was because I wanted choice and I was getting bored really quickly with other meditation apps I was using (I’m still yet to get bored with IT). I love that I’m always discovering new pieces of music and meditation that feed and nurture my soul. Insight Timer have done a stellar job and the app just keeps getting better, I’ve recommended it to my friends. I cannot recommend it highly enough to anyone looking for a meditation app with a point of difference, IT wins hands down

Insight. This has been such an awesome tool to make meditation a consistent practice in 2017! I love the sense of community within the users of the app and knowing that sometimes if you are having a "stuck" day that there is likely to be someone else out there that is having a similar experience and that we can learn from each other during this. I have recommended this app to people in my work situation to help with pain relief and the fact that it is a free app is such a gift.

New update wrecked it. Hi there, Insight timer was my favourite app ever. I had any meditation, done by category (spirituality, happiness... etc) at my finger tips. I loved the different categories and how many options were available. Now after downloading 15.0 I can only see 6-8 different areas of meditation, all with a focus on stress relief, sleep or self esteem rather than enlightenment/wellness. It seems more simple and deficit focused. Then when I click into an area (eg. Stress relief) I can only choose from 3 options in each sub group. Otherwise it’s courses i have to pay for. Also, my search option doesn’t work so i can’t find anything new meditations. I was a massive fan and commonly referred people to insight timer. If this isn’t fixed or reverted I won’t use it anymore. I’m sorry, I loved your app and ethos but now it feels like you’re just trying to get money.

Best meditation App by far.... I see three facets to this app that are useful in their own right: 1. thousands of guided meditations, where a practitioner talks you through the practice (particularly useful for beginners), and these are in lengths ranging from one minute to hours (so beginners can start with short periods and progress to longer meditations as they are ready), have varied backgrounds and are delivered by a range of practitioners...you are bound to find some you enjoy. 2. The timer option is highly customisable so you can set the duration, background, and even interval bells/reminders. 3. The data/stats element is terrific for keeping you motivated and ‘honest’, a terrific feature that allows you to track your meditation practice if you want to - this feature, in combination with the timer function, also works offline and the app will automatically update your data when it is next online! Superb, for instance, when on a cruise and you have no internet access but want to maintain your ‘record’. I cannot recommend this app enough. It has meant that I now meditate daily, with significant positive impact on my life, health and well-being. Thank you for making this and keeping it free. 👏

Pure relaxation!!. Highly recommend Insight Timer! I have had this app for almost a year now and I still find so many new and amazing meditations. I use this app daily and it’s also got great relaxation music as well as the guided meditations. There are in app purchases for courses but there’s so much with the basic app you don’t need to buy anything extra. I love the fact you can also search for topics such as ‘meditation for sleep or anxiety’ etc. There is a meditation for every mood and every relaxation level. If your unsure about it just give it a go! You’ll be surprised at how many resources there are available to you!

Must have app !!. I personally think this is one of the greatest apps going . I use it part of my morning program to start my day on the right foot, sometimes during the day when my thoughts are tiring me out and also at night to fall asleep. Great meditations for all levels and occasion’s, plus a lot of great talks . It’s my Sangha away from home . Really appreciate it. In these crazy times I think everyone can benefit from it .🙏☺️✌️

App not working & bad customer service. I have always enjoyed this app and been a user since it launched, spreading the word to family and friends. However when a problem occurred within my app, including not being able to open meditations, resulting in the app freezing and crashing, meaning I could not at all use the app, I proceeded to contact customer service. Whilst they were prompt in replying, they told me there was nothing they could do to help me. After updating my app to the newest version, things began to stop working. My IOS on my phone was not compatible with the app, despite my phone being a fairly recent model. Many other users have the same IOS as me so this is a common issue, yet they failed to fix the app and make it compatible for users of IOS 10. A simple fix with the product development team would have meant my IOS was compatible, however the team could not do this for me. I would have been happy if being friends able to use the app meant I did not have access to the newest features but I couldn't use it at all. I contacted the team via Instagram and whilst they seemed helpful I was blocked and unable to contact them further. I was kind in my messages all along, understanding that they were a small team, but to be blocked as a customer, when I was only expressing my issues with the app is not ok. I've enjoyed this app since the launch, however the team wasn't helpful or co operative and I can now not use the app.

A wonderful support. It has made my practice so much a part of my life. In the greater scheme of things, stats don't matter. But over time, I find that I get myself to the cushion or mat when I don't feel like it so that I don't break my record. I use the timer function the most but have recently started exploring the guided meditations. I can't really compare to the old version of this app but find it easy to find the ones that I think will work for me. Found a few gems already. Lastly there is the community. Love the 365 day idea. Love the idea of a community based on love (it's ❤️not 👍) and the insights and wisdom that so many people are generous enough to share.

Easy to use - fabulous support. I love this app. It encourages me to meditate every day, which is incredibly good for me and society in general. The timer function is the best. The people who develop and improve the app always seek feedback from the membership and they are very responsive. Within the app are groups that you can join to meet other people who meditate from right across the world, which I love. There is also access to heaps of great guided meditations, so if you have not been taught, you can be guided. I highly recommend this app for all people who would like to meditate, or who already do and want to join a global community. Thanks.

Are the free meditations actually free?. Hi, I should state from the outset that I have only just begun to check out the features and content of this app. One thing that definitely appealed was the prospect of access to ‘32,000 Free Meditations’. I explored this part of the app and found some content I was very interested in, namely one called ‘Simple Tools for Self-Acceptance’ by Meg James. However after pressing the ‘get started’ button it took me to a page where I had to sign up for a seven day free trial to access the content. I don’t have a gripe with paying for the content, but what I have an issue with is making this discovery via a portal that states the content within is free. I feel that is a little misleading, so it’s a disappointing start with this app.

Mindfulness, cognitive behavior therapy and essential wellbeing education all in one app.. Pretty much all the content, which is eminence, is free to access. I used the app for about 2 years before subbing. No adds, no opportunistic marketing hidden away. Qualified and evidence based content, way ahead of almost every other eHealth source currently available - paid or unpaid. Highly recommend giving this a go, working through the top rated and different styles of guidance and finding what works for you. In a time when many basic requirements (work, finances, social relationships etc) of our modern fast paced, emotionally dulled and overstimulated life has greatly unconsciously conditioned many with excessive reflex fear/stress responses and cortisol overdrive - leading to everything from debilitating mood disorders to a flat existence being accepted as “normal” - Insight is resilience.

No ads, meaningful use is free. Large amount of diverse spiritual audio in this app. Easy to use. Took me a little while to find the timer (even though it’s in the name) as I just dived into the audio. An almost overwhelming amount of material here, something for most points along the path. If you’re beginning, it’s great. If you want to deepen a longer journey, it’s great. I’m sure it could be better, but I can’t think of anything to criticise.

Following Insight Timer for 1600+ days. Insight Timer is how I begin each day and helps ground me in the presence of a greater reality. It is my compass offering guidance to a better day.

Excellent app for all levels!. I love how simple, easy to use this app is. I've recommended it to many, and even my 9-year old uses it with ease.

My daily practice. This is the app that I return to again and again to find inner peace.

Broke the timer so they could charge money. They broke the time and made it more fancy and paid so they could charge more. Just moved to using vipassana timer on YouTube. Free and predictable. App deleted.

Support and structure. Insight timer has given me the structure and support through their beautiful timer which can be programmed with just the right bell and ambient sounds as well as with amazing guided meditations bag bring me to another dimension. Thanks Chess and Treacy ❤️

Great app. So much great content for free

Elaine. Insight timer has been an integral part in a healing process fro me, and a form of “”companion” through the individuals that offer their unique talents. The quality of diverse meditations music and talks offered are outstanding like a bowl of light in what can sometimes seem like a dark world.

Thank you Insight Timer!. An absolutely wonderful way to start each morning and end each day. Insight Timer connects a community of seekers of truth and wisdom and is a platform for many great teachers on our planet. I am grateful to have discovered this app since 2012 and to this day I continue to use it daily. 🙏🏻 To this day I continue my practice using Insight Timer as a tool to guide me on my life’s journey. I have shared numerous courses and guided meditations with friends and they too have grown and developed their own meditation habits and transformed from this. Thank you to all the teachers and to this wonderful community of meditators here! I am deeply grateful to be part of this growing community. Thank you 🙏🏻 Lovingly ❤️ Antonio

My happy place. This app has been my go to for meditation for years! It has everything. The best sleep meditation, morning affirmation, background music. Anything and everything.

This app is amazing. I have recommended this app to so many people that tell me they can’t meditate. It has helped me elevate my own practice as well as help kick off friend’s of mine. I can’t thank you enough for this app.

Insight timer.. Never got soo much from a free app ever. Game changer in my life

Thank you! I feel so much better. This app is great and really helps with anxiety and stress :)

Fraud. Paid for premium features in 2013, these features have since been removed and buried under the subscription regime. While the app performs adequately as a timer, the group is untrustworthy. I expect features I paid for to be honoured. I do not expect to be robbed.

It’s a great app. I love this app it helps me to fall asleep

I love this app. This app has been doing wonders for my mental health. At first, I was unsure about paying for an entire year up front, but a few minutes into the first course, I had a feeling it would be worth it so I purchased immediately. I’ve had no regrets since, and continue every morning with meditations, challenges and courses. I have a couple issues with the app: the first is that it’s not the easiest to navigate; for example, it’s frustrating that while a track is playing, you can’t click on the person’s name/photo and go directly to their profile; it’s taken me some time to figure out how to navigate the app and I still am. I’m pretty tech savvy so the fact that I struggled a bit tells me others might also? Secondly, I can’t find credits for the music that teachers use. There are SO MANY songs I would love to know the name of and that information is not listed - at least nowhere I’ve been able to find (again, not as user-friendly as I’d like an app to be). Lastly, so many times the audio has been poor quality. There is no consistency with that, and it’s unfortunate that I’ve had to skip a lot of content because the sound quality is so bad. Other than that, this app is fantastic and I have been sharing it with loved ones all the time. I am very thankful for all the healing I’ve been able to do because of Insight Timer! Namaste

My favourite app. I cannot speak more highly of this app. It really has become a beautiful safe space for growth.

Love it. Love dis!

Bumped out. It keeps bumping me out of the app. I’ve deleted and reinstalled 3 times...

Great for Deep Sleeps and Meditation App. I love this app. My daughter and I use it every night for a good sleep. I also use it for daily meditation.

Getting worse. Not all updates are upgrades, and I feel this app is loosing ground as it updates. I’m a many years user and it’s been great until about 6 months. Now, it’s bugged, has important flaws and the support doesn’t reply when I write to tell them. Will give back the stars when they give back the fully functional app.

LOVE this app. This app is amazing for meditation, from beginner to expert. You can search a topic and filter by length. You can also chose custom sounds with no words. The app is totally free to use and I HIGHLY recommend it!

Overly pushing Plus. The quality of the app has reduced significantly with ongoing push towards monetization. The search function has been made a difficult as possible to see free content. The subscription costs are not reasonable for the service offered.

Insight timer. Perfect for my meditation with coherence cardiac breathing 😇

Love this app. What happened!?! I really love the content, I have found some really great meditations on here… but today everything just deleted - my profile, my history, my folders and playlists - everything I’ve been building for months! The only thing it saved were the tracks I had downloaded.

Insight Timer is fabulous!. I have been using Insight Timer daily for 6 years. It is a fantastic resource. I highly recommend it to everyone who wants to learn, grow, strengthen and calm.

Best free meditation app. I have been using this app for the last few years, and I would say it is probably the best free app on the market. I like how the app has many different classes in teachers and types of meditation. You can do rather than maybe only one teacher I also like how it’s free for the most part they are future you can get to pay for but it’s a lot of the ones you would do our free and there’s options to donate to the teacher said she really do enjoy

Great App. I have been using it for a year. It is very inspirational and help me through tough times.

The best meditation app ever. Recommending it to all my friends. The selection is incredible

Makes meditation easy and accessible. I love insight timer! I use the meditation timer with bells and when I started I also listened to a lot of guided meditations. I’m so grateful for this app!

Fabulous assortment. Love the fact there are classes, meditations, music, and many many choices within those areas. Short sessions, longer, specific to needs.

A Place For All Needs. Insight Timer has something for everyone and everything. Whether you’re looking to feel held, supported, educated, guided - or simply looking to hear a few soothing words, you’ll find it here. I recommend this app to my clients as well as I, use it all the time. Thank you Insight Timer for doing your part in serving in this world and for being apart of the change. With love and gratitude.

Data mining. Just deleted the app. Wouldn’t let me use it without either confirming or providing an alternative email. For “privacy”.

Bugs and crashes. This App stresses me out. It’s supposed to provide relaxation, but for me, it is the opposite. So many bugs, crashes, and waiting for it to load sometimes takes forever. Like right now for example, I am waiting for it to load and it has taken so long that I am now over here riding this bad review

The best app.. I start my mornings with this app. It is so wonderful - the guides are fantastic. There is literally a meditation or talk for any need you have. Thanks so much to the developers and all who contribute to this fantastic app. It’s an absolute gift.

It’s a great app but it’s just missing something that it could have.. I believe that this app is missing something but it is still a supremely good app for what it is ment for.

The best meditation app. By far the best meditation app.

Freeing. This app has so many great choices for mediations, teachings, yoga.

Amazing tool. I use it multiple times a day everyday. A great tool to help heal and rise.

Powerful App. I love the wonderful variety of meditations and the fact that most of them are free or cost very little. Thank you for creating such a powerful and helpful app and community.

The best Mindfulness Practice tool. I love insight timer because it has so many options to bring me back into a mindfulness practice and back into myself - meditations, music, talks, courses, etc. And if you don’t want a guided meditation there are many timer options.

Yes. Amazing app perfect for sleep or recovery I fully recommend

It has helped me in so many ways. I discovered this app awhile back and have recommended to many. It has helped me in so many ways to deal with things in my life . And the music is just capturing in so many ways. Thank you for this !

Best meditation app out there. Whether you're a beginner, have a regular practice or are just curious, this app is for you. Other than a cushion, it provides almost any tool to support a practice: guided, music, nature sounds, spiritual, secular, religious, or just a simple timer. Great tool to use for a regular practice as well as exploring new things to deepen it. Love love it!! 🙏

Inspiring. I am a user since about 3 years now. Mainly Listening to so many relaxing and inspiring music while working has helped me to stay focus and enjoy life to the fullest. Thank you for your dedicated efforts.

Best among all!. I have used quite a number of similar apps and I dare say Insight Timer trumps them all. Thank you.

Slowly Getting More Commercial. I used to love this app and have really appreciated having access to it in the past. Over time, I have noticed less of the content accessible without their very expensive subscription. Now most of the guided meditations are only available to “plus members” with said subscription. To find meditations, I have to sift through content I can’t access without paying for. Being constantly advertised to in this way flies in the face of what I want out of a meditation app. I may still use the timer but I feel quite disappointed in what was once a fantastic app.

My favorite meditation app. I have been using it for couple years now and I love this app for all mediations and great teachers. This year they’ve added live events with my favourite teachers and it was a great addition. I am very grateful for this app. Thank you !

Wonderful versatile app. Many options for deepening daily mindfulness. Thank you!

Somethings wrong. This is my absolute favourite app and I meditate daily with it. The last update has completely messed up the app and most tracks I always listen to now start with 8 seconds left. PLEASE fix this!!!

All meditation & soundscape apps in 1 free app!. Truly an amazing app, and it keeps on getting better. I was recommended this app by a doctor in 2012. I now recommend it to my own patients, friends, and family. Just listened to a beautiful piece of light but energizing music. Tonight, I’ll do a body scan to help me sleep. Tomorrow morning before work, I’ll sit by a window to feel the sun on my face and listen to a 5 minute mediation or check out the selection of live events. Yoga, a course on gratitude, meditation on pain, meditations for children and teens… there are so many ways Insight Timer can enhance your life and help you be the best you. And if you want to support the meditation guides or the app producers so they can make it free for more people, you can donate directly to a meditation teacher or purchase an upgrade. It provides a few more features, but it’s mostly a donation. If more people used this app, the world would a happier, healthier place.

When it works, it’s great. There is a lot of phenomenal content on the app and many, many great teachers with their own excellent offerings. Unfortunately, I have had recurring issues with two of the three main features that I primarily use: playlists and live events. The playlists seem to have a mind of their own; playing tracks in wrong order or jumping around when a back or forward button is used. Occasionally, the entire app force closes itself during playback. The live event chat feature is essentially useless; I cannot see when someone else posts something on a consistent basis and sometimes 10-15 minutes worth of posts appear all at once and not necessarily in chronological order so following any conversation is impossible. I have put in help tickets many times and occasionally a bandaid is presented but the issues quickly return. If these issues were resolved on a permanent basis, this would be a 5 star review but the repetitive problems make it quite an unpleasant experience and after almost a year, I can no longer abide.

Best find and best app I ever came accross. This app has literally changed my life, I do martial arts but always struggled with the spiritual, meditation part of it; I have a very stressful job in crisis torn countries and was wondering how to bring more calm and mindfulness into my life. I started listening to daily insights, only for 10 minutes a day, and I discovered fantastic teachers through that daily activity and that led me to taking courses and it has now become a morning ritual for me: instead of reaching for my phone and getting all upset about work stuff first thing in the morning, I now take a class and do 10 min daily insight meditation. This ritual lasts 25 minutes. And I love it. On top of that the yoga classes are also fantastic, there are so many resources on this app that it is worth every single dollar spent on a full membership for the year. I have recommended it to so many people, I hope it will transform their lives and outlook the way it transformed mine. Zahra

Meditation Changed (is changing) My life. I’ve had the sleepless nights worrying about everything from what to cook for dinner tomorrow to “I hate myself, why am I alive?”. I never thought sitting still for 10-20 min per day could possibly change my whole world. Thank god I was wrong. This app is amazing, they have guided meditations, a simple timer with multiple settings, music, and courses. The app is free and 90% of the guided meditations I am interested in are free. All the courses I’ve purchased were $4.99... I could easily spend more on coffee in a day. The mission of the creators of this app really come through. There are no hidden fees or content walls. It’s just an app that helps you make a habit out of meditating. Did I mention you can see all the other users of the app in your area! You are not alone!! If you’ve tried everything except meditation, download this app and use it every day for 1 week. I guarantee meditation and this app will change your brain and your life.

Best meditation app (vs Calm and Headspace). I’ve tried and enjoyed both Calm and Headspace, but I adore Insight. It really allows you to have a complete practice— they have a great and a customizable bell/sound when you feel independent and wanting a free-form meditation experience, and a huge library of diverse guided meditations. I came for Tara Brach, and will absolutely stay because her meditations and classes are here, but also because this app is exactly what I was looking for. It still tracks your days and minutes meditated, like Headspace, but is a much superior user experience because you can use it for free without getting aggressive up selling and the timing of the meditations are true to what they say. The former beats out Calm for me, the latter beats out Headspace. I never really could get over the fact that a 5 minute meditation on Headspace was like 2 minutes of the dude talking and 4 minutes of meditation. None of that in Insight! And what’s more, you could do an hour+ long meditation if you wanted too :) you aren’t limited to their guided meditations.

Unfortunately, it's going downhill fast!. UPDATE: Their support team finally responded, and somehow I'm signed back in, but the app remains seriously buggy (saying that I've meditated for hours on end, when I only do 10 minutes twice a day, and the volume indicator in the app is way off base, to give just two examples). Hopefully they'll right the ship, because I really rely on this app! (I've raised my rating two stars, and hoping to up it again soon!) PREVIOUS REVIEW: This app used to be the best, but it seems each new update just introduces more bugs! The latest is that it is now asking me to sign in, even though I've been signed in for months as a paid subscriber! It won't accept my credentials, even though they work to sign in on their website!! I've written support twice now, and the first time they just told me to what I've been doing to try to sign in, and I've gotten nothing but silence in the few days signs I wrote another plea for help. Please folks, fix the app! There's nothing worse than being frustrated by a meditation app, right??

Updated version took away what was good. As a long time user, I would have written a different review once. Now you can’t sort by user reviews. The pictures that go with each meditation are generic instead of giving you some sense of what the meditation creator was trying to share. You can breeze through dozens meditations with landscape pictures that are about “clarity” and no easily visible descriptions. Courses, which you pay for, are now featured prominently and repetitively. (I bought the unlimited access to these and you can’t delete them if it becomes clear that the course is not a fit - so “my courses is cluttered with these zombies. The courses have generally seemed like 10 days of talks and meditations covered in their other free talks and meditations and only 15% of them have had depth or substance to them. After using it for years, I’m now looking for alternatives. It makes me sad. I have formed connections with people all over the world over time, but it’s primary use as a meditation app is not as useful. I hope this is an experiment in process and they will address these.

Lovely app that needs one improvement.. Really enjoying this app and using it a lot. I use the timer for meditation, and listen to the music selections to go to sleep. The one thing I think needs to be improved on is the background music/noise for the meditation timer. Some of the ones on there are a little funky in my opinion; there is one with rainfall which is great until every few seconds there is 3 chimes or something that play, it’s a small loop and they don’t feel very natural in there. Same goes for the ocean background, would be great to just listen to waves but there is some low overtone going on thats rather distracting. I actually would really like to be able to access the mantras or the binaural beats from the music area of the app while running the timer, that would make this app perfect. So if they could figure out a way for the meditation timer to access the music selection to be played while timing I would give this 5 stars.

Try it!! You won’t be sorry!!. Not to be over dramatic, but this app is life changing!! I’ve tried all the other meditation apps, & none of them compare to insight timer!! What they offer in the free version is amazing in this day & age. So much to choose from. I listen to the live meditations daily. And its free!! There’s a sense of community on insight timer that no other app has because you’re meditating with 200 plus people (sometimes more)& you can live chat with those people & the teacher & ask questions etc. No one else has that!!! Been using the free version for a couple years. Finally able to upgrade to the paid version. I’m so excited to be able to access the courses now!! Can’t wait to try them out. Insight timer is the best there is hands down. Can’t recommend enough, I’ve even got my mom, my aunt, & my best friend to try it. They love it too. Thank you insight timer!! You really are the best at what you do!!

If I could rate this app zero stars, I would. I had been using insight timer with no issues for roughly 3 months before my account was banned and I received a strange email from customer service saying that my account had been suspended (it had been banned not suspended) because another person had taken issue with my shirt in my tiny profile photo. For context my shirt says, bottoms and tops we all hate cops and my account had been private so I was the only person who could see my activity. The customer service robot said that once I changed my profile photo, I would be able to access my account to which i said I wasn’t interested in changing my profile photo but would happily take a refund since I had just purchased a year subscription. It’s been over two weeks now and I have yet to see a refund or be able to talk to an actual person about this issue, I just get regurgitated information from their help desk over and over again. So, if you are a cop lover, this app is for you and if you aren’t then stay real far away from them. Also keep the free version because if for whatever made up reason that they ban your account, it will take a miracle to get your money back.

Could be very five stars if a few areas were improved. I've used this app daily for over five years and found it invaluable. Like many things there's a lot of good and bad. Good - statistics are far more detailed than other apps. Bad - they are inaccurate and have been for over three years. Good - customer service responds immediately. Bad - they copy and paste such helpful advice as telling you your iOS is out of date (it isn't). Good - it has a social feature built in which could be motivating for some. Bad - you need to turn it off or receive creepy message. Good - they have courses they offer for a price. Bad - teachers have more detailed courses elsewhere and many are 'lay down and open your third chakra to the infinite possibility of the unknown' type of courses. I would pay for an identical app with no courses that didn't have a pop up requesting me to enroll in paid courses each time I opened it. Though this review sounds negative, I really would like to see the app succeed which works be easy enough to do if they paused and improved a few basic parts of it instead of focusing on getting you to buy something each time you opened it.

“Could Not Update Password” - three separate times. I thought Insight Timer was a decent meditation app, and I use(d) all of them as part of my personal life as well as my professional life. I work in higher ed and develop strategies for undergrad students to help manage stress. All apps are different so I look for the ones that are easy to use, different content on regular basis, well-made and offers solutions as part of tech support. I will not recommend this app based on my latest experience just trying to change my password. Last night I was denied a password change three separate times; I used three different browsers, accepted cookies, used the URL in the password request emails, and still received “Could Not Update Password.” Had I been someone who was having a very traumatic moment, having a panic or anxiety attack, or just needed to meditate to help with a difficult moment, Insight Timer would not have been able to provide the very service that the app is supposed to provide. Those aren’t imagined scenarios - those are actual scenarios from my life and my students. TL;DR I would not recommend this app because the UX and tech isn’t equipped to help people in times of urgent moments, often the times that meditative practices are most warranted.

Excellent Resource for Daily Practice. I was struggling to be consistent with my daily practice. The inconsistency was related to perfectionism. I find that the app helps me stay committed to DAILY practice. The app was essential to me before the pandemic, as I was dealing with health issues. I now wonder how much worse my health would be right now if a friend had not shared this app and the basics of her daily practice with me. I wonder how much worse my behavior and mental health might have become during the traumatic period of isolation caused by SARS-Cov-2 aka “Covid-19” aka “Coronavirus.” I’m still here. I’m relatively healthy, and I feel some spiritual connection to life on this planet every day. I remember to spark joy each day, if only in connecting with my own body and my relationship to myself. I wish my 22-yr-old daughter would do this every day, and I wish I’d simplified my goal of a daily practice much earlier in life. This app has been the basic building blocks of a new way of “witnessing and accepting” my life and my body. That’s from DavidJi, a fave.

Needs to do more in a few ways. This is a good app but my main gripe is that it needs to do more to support the user—like more reminders—1 reminder is not enough and my brain is so busy I always forget to meditate. The biggest thing that harms my morale is the streak tracking. This is frustrating because my day does not begin and end at midnight. It would be great if I could tell the app when I regularly get up and when I regularly go to bed. I am often up past midnight but if I don’t meditate before midnight I don’t get credit for the session. I can add a session manually, but I should not have to. Also, when trying to figure out how I missed a day, a very helpful addition would be to add time stamps to each meditation in the Recents tab. If you won’t add more reminders to get me to meditate, at least add the time stamps so I can know when I screwed up by meditating too late or too early. Every time I see a streak break I feel like I am letting myself down but you’re not providing the tools to help me not let myself down. It feels like you’re setting me up to fail tbh.

Well, they did go commercial, but in a way that’s not too obnoxious. I’ve used this app three ways, when it was 100% free in the beginning, when they switched to monetizing, and with a paid account—paid for by my employer. It was definitely easier to use, and a better experience, before they monetized. But they built something good, and monetization is not bad in itself. What I like best about it, is that it’s handy for recording my meditation sessions. What I like least about it is that there’s no way to tell it that the reason I didn’t meditate every day is because I was actually at a meditation retreat. So the app counts that as me meditating less, when I was actually meditating more! But I guess that’s a minor complaint. The content is a real mixed bag, but I’ve enjoyed plunking around and finding different relaxation, meditation, and sleep guided talks. I’ve also enjoyed the ability to sample different music tracks. It’s a little annoying being asked to donate every single time you listen to something, but on the other hand, I respect the work that people put into the things I listen to, and I do think they deserve to be paid. I’d like it if, instead of the per use requests for money, you could sign up for a different option where once a week or once a month you would get a report on which artists and teachers you listen to the most, so you could make a more informed decision about payment.

Love it!. I’ve been using this app on-and-off for the past couple years now. So far it is my favorite meditation app because it gives your hundreds of meditations to choose from, a large majority for free! The fact that many meditation apps are paid is what held me back from getting into meditation in the first place. I love that this app is mainly free and that we don’t have to follow a given meditation plan (if we don’t want to) and that has helped me discover what meditations I like and don’t necessarily like. I’m personally very bad at keeping up with a streak and there are times when I don’t meditate for months, but Insight Timer is always the first app I go to when I try to pick up the habit again. I even recommended this app to a few patients (I’m an OTA) who wanted to improve their mindfulness and increase their emotional regulation (and because it’s free so there’s no reason not to download!). Can’t recommend Insight Timer enough!!

The app I use every day. Update: I’ve been using this app daily since May 2017 and it has had a profound impact on my life. My personal preference is using the timer with a background sound (water and birds usually) or one of the many many amazing tracks. You can find what you want here. Forever appreciative to IT for starting me on this amazing journey! Insight Timer was suggested to me by a friend and it showed up at just the right time. I started using it the next day and haven't stopped since. There is something (or a lot of things) for everyone, and you have time options in all of them. I can find a meditation thats one minute long or over an hour...whatever fits for me. I prefer sound meditation to guided, and there are over 700 to choose from with more being added daily. Super easy to navigate and easy to join groups if wanted. It keeps track of your time meditating if you want to. Awesome app - try it!

Making me Whole. I am a recovering alcoholic and this app has changed me emotionally, spiritually and physically, in 62 days. I quit drinking in January 2020 and soon thereafter started displaying signs of gall bladder stones. The stones were removed surgically in May 2021. Fast forward today after being diagnosed with first GB stones, then H-Pyloe, next GERD and lastly, Functional Dyspepsia. I have lost 45 lbs (and it wasn’t fun or pretty!) and was an emotionally , mentally and physically a wreck. It’s taken since May 2021 till today to become well enough to actually function without being sick to my stomach. This app, after 62 days AND 123 check ins, has changed my life. I am more spiritual, healthier through diet and exercise, and see myself clearer than I did before. I started AA a week ago and am excited to begin the 12 steps. I will look to this app and all the wonderful teachers for help along my journey. Oh, look for a spike in enrollments because I tell everyone I see how wonderful this app is! Thank you Insight Timer!

Hooray!. Edit: Upped it to five stars. (Now you can remove courses that you no longer want!) I love the huge selection and variety of meditations. Premium membership is worth it, with access to lots of really wonderful and valuable courses. I want to give this lovely app five stars, but had to subtract one because of this issue: you can’t DROP courses. I purchased a membership because I wanted to listen to and participate in some of the courses- they sounded interesting and helpful. I signed up for a course and listened to the first couple of classes, but decided it wasn’t for me. Too bad, nothing I can do, it will continue showing up on all my lists, I will keep receiving reminders about it, and it will haunt me forever. LOL It seems like such a simple fix, but it’s been over a year and they still haven’t been able to make this change. Pretty annoying- but other than that, great meditations and teachers and community.

Life Changing and so functional!. I absolutely love insight timer, I’ve been using it for more than three years. I started out as a person who meditated zero and now I meditate more than 300 days out of the year! I love to listen while stretching or walking and have my favorites saved for using first thing in the am or before sleep. I love the tracking/ milestones feature and having a longer “streak” makes me proud so it really motivates me to keep using it. My favorite part is how customizable it is whether you just use the timer function and the beautiful white noise sounds with bells or utilizing any of the thousands of free meditations, I got a lot out of some of the ten-day courses so I eventually went ahead and bought the year subscription because it’s such a good deal and it gives access to all of the content. Absolutely love! I’m always sharing my favorite meditations with my friends and clients. Thank you IT!

What a gift?!. I use this incredible app everyday, usually multiple times a day. It’s easy to navigate and is excellent for the newest of novices to advanced long-time practitioners..and everyone in between! There is a myriad of styles (including secular and religious based) and teachers available...something for every individual. Many of the teachers/Spiritual leaders hold various degrees in mental/emotional health and are well-known globally. There’s also many beautiful instrumental pieces, some with binaural beats and Solfeggio frequencies..that are said to help your brain arrive at a receptive, meditative state. This would be a phenomenal tool as is...but what makes it even better, is that it’s totally free..and yet still the best meditation app I’ve ever come across. You will not be disappointed, and your life will absolutely witness positive development! The more you use it, the more it will do for your whole life. Extremely helpful for depression and anxiety (both of which I’ve been clinically diagnosed with for almost my whole life).

This app is everything!. I started using this app along with a few others. I’ve really been recently working to improve my mindfulness and practice stress management. As a new mom, that’s SO HARD. I’ve had relationship stress and mom guilt. I’ve even had insomnia. For some reason after having my daughter, I couldn’t sleep through the night. Everything was always out of wack despite her sleeping 11-12 hours (happy she’s at least rested). Since I’ve been using this app and practicing morning gratitude, I have actually been sleeping amazing. It’s progress I’m looking for and going from multiple night wakings and feeling stressed during the day to only maybe 1 night waking to use the bathroom and being more productive at work, I can say this app works. If you put in the work and take the courses and do the meditations to break up your day, you will see changes for the better. I don’t actually ever leave reviews, but health and wellness are everything to me.

Guided meditations need cleaned up. A great way of logging your meditations and seeing trends over time. The bell/timer feature works great too. However, the guided meditations have completely devolved into nonsensical flowery new age audios with little substance, and there are very few meditations that accurately teach basic principles of a practice. If you search “concentration” meditation, you instead get open awareness or letting go style meditations. This is a major problem for beginners, who will either be totally misled about the types of practice, or will conclude that the whole meditative enterprise is a total sham. The app needs to make a harder line between meditation styles, and give a means for people to learn about the core techniques. Make courses that introduce mindfulness, one-pointedness, vipassana, open awareness, etc, and maybe even throw some science in too. For those who take this topic seriously, it is frustrating to see the lack of care and attention here, and it makes it very hard to recommend this app to anyone interested in starting a meditation habit.

Best timer and more. UPDATE: Although I’m still not liking the new format with the thanks for meditating feature, they have contacted me. It is great app outside of my dislike of this change. It was just easier to deal with those notifications before the last update. Now the notifications won’t go away no matter how many times I “open” the message. Anyway, I still give it 5 stars (again). Love insight timer and the community. So much more than a timer. I adjusted my rating to see if I can get some help through this avenue since the contact support page is not linked. I can not find help in the help section. I love this timer but turned off the “thanks for meditating with me” feature after the last update that separated those messages from the others. It’s just too much. People are still able to and are sending these messages. Can you please fix this? And fix your contact support link? Thank you so much.

Big let down.. I have been using insight timer, on and off, for a couple of years but never without difficulty getting the timer set the way I wanted. I wanted interval bells and got them but never at the intervals I had them set for. Recently I decided to contact insight timer for help with this issue and the only thing that they found appropriate was to send me two notification emails with nothing in them except the automated response that they received my email and someone would contact me, they never did that. I try to meditate, partially because of almost nonexistent self esteem. It took a lot, for me, just to ask for help and then, for all intents and purposes to get completely rejected didn’t help at all. If a company isn’t interested in helping a customer then why bother with having a customer support contact in the first place? A giant let down from another company pretending to have customer support. Update: While I did receive two email replies to my request for support it is still disappointing to me to think that it took leaving a negative review to get that support. Nonetheless, thank you for the support you did end up providing.

Money money. Looks like a nice app... but don’t make people pay for basic things like skipping/fast-forwarding as a premium feature. I’m considering meditation apps. Friends recommended Calm & Headspace. Reddit mentioned Insight Timer and said “it’s completely free” (a couple of years ago). The website (today) makes a big deal about how “magic happens when you give meditation away for free”. However, as soon as I opened the app, it prompted me to subscribe $60/year. Every tab seemed to be locked, and the main tab is one giant advert asking you to subscribe. I found the one free tab; I started playing a meditation, and wanted to skip the intro to get a feel for it. Instant prompt for $60/year - yes, even fast-forwarding costs money. I’m a developer myself, and quality apps ain’t free. You need to pay your salaries, and I’ve no qualms paying $60/year. However, advertising this app as “free” when it clearly isn’t is click-bait to take advantage of familiarity/inertia once installed - should I expect similar business tactics once I’m a customer? In contrast, Calm & Headspace were both much more tactful - and one of them will be getting my money.

So much amazing content!. I’ve been using Insight Timer since February 2021. I’ve tried others, but this is the only meditation app I’ve stuck with. I use it nearly every day. From short meditations from teachers around the world to live meditation groups, meditation music for sleep, mindfulness classes, full courses—you can find whatever it is you need here. In fact, there’s so much content, first-timers may find it overwhelming. I recommend using the search tool and filters to search for a topic like “mindfulness of breath” or “overcoming anxiety” and see what you get. Even with an unusual first name, I discovered there are hundreds of others on the app with my first name…)

A daily addition on my health & wellness journey. I discovered this little gem when I had breast cancer. The overwhelm of cancer had me terrified. A friend suggested I listen to a meditation on here. I had never heard of guided meditation. I clicked on and listened to a soothing voice leading me down a path of calm. I was enchanted. I listened every time I was gripped with fear. I could not believe how much this became an important part of my healing. Over the years since I have come to this place of calm often. I discovered gratitude meditations that began to set up my morning for a more positive day. I clicked on during the day if I had a stressful work or personal encounter. I plugged in at bedtime to hear a gentle story lull me to sleep. Insight Timer is now a part of my life, pulling me out of dark times, swelling my happy times with gratefulness and challenging long held beliefs that may be twisted and in need of unpretzeling. The teachers are of the highest caliber. Try it! It’s free!

1 of My 8 Most Frequently Used Apps. In the past I would practiced meditation using various platforms that were never really easy to keep up with. I have to thank The Friend Zone podcast for putting me on this this great human creation. #LifeChanging. It’s pretty flawless (outside of my connection in Beijing), but if there was a way that we could get a 10 or 15 second rewind option during our sessions... I know we are suppose to be focused during however, some of the available talks or even the meditation sessions mention things that are hard to hear or maybe I, like others I’m sure, missed what was said. The only way to go back is to restart the entire session, and that’s a nuance where you’re 30-45 minuets into it. Most web streaming platforms and podcasts for sure have the option to rewind on less meaningful things. Let’s make this a five star app and add this little feature. Love this app. I’m sure it’s a driving factor in keeping my positivity level at a cool daily average of 93%.

Today’s update made a mess. Folks, hi. I’m a longtime user of the app, and have seen a lot of nice improvements over the years (I haven’t loved all of them, but that’s beside the point), however, today’s update was a real bummer. I suddenly have a ton of old (deleted long ago) presets showing up, many of which have something in common with current presets, so there was a vet & delete process to go through to be able to do my practice this evening... and that was not easy because the updated user interface is *reeeeeally* jumpy. If my finger didn’t hit the center of the very small ‘delete’ button **dead** on, I’d be taken *out* of edit mode, and the preset would load up as if I’d chosen it for a practice. I had to backtrack from that jumpy accident about a dozen times to be able to fulfill the ‘delete’ mission. Not the end of the world, but also not my favorite moment of usage within this app. I hope it can be calmed down a bit (without reloading any deleted stuff). Thanks! TL;DR: New UI is way too jumpy, and old deleted presets have come back from beyond the grave.

Great App. I’ve been using this app for a few years now and really like it. Nice timer, wonderful selection of guided meditations covering the gamut of interests and disciplines, good music for meditation, stretching, sleep, etc. It’s fun to see who my fellow Insight meditators are in my area and l actually found a local sangha this way. I also particularly like the opportunity to participate in interest groups. My current favorite is the group led by Australian meditation teacher Stephen Proctor. Stephen provides weekly guidance and is on hand to answer any meditation questions that arise, which is enormously helpful. Our group encompasses meditators from all over the world, which is interesting in its own right. There are innumerable meditation apps available these days and several are very good. Finding one that appeals to you and sparks an interest in creating a daily practice is the thing - so try several! l continue to explore, but enjoy anchoring my daily practice with Insight Timer.

Insight Meditation app. Highly recommended. This is a treasure of meditations with guided thought-journeys. Without question— the best meditation app. Check it out! There’s free, stand alone content: a gift from the Insight creators. I’ve used the Insight app for years, and now I am excited to support them. I will get more meditations and courses, coaching support, and gentle accountability-help as I build my happiness practice for life. I especially love that I can create and save my own customized meditation timers with my choice of bells— to ring at chosen intervals throughout my timed meditation. This helps me return from thinking to meditating/breathing. I have three custom meditations: 5 minute, 15 minute, and 30 minute... What a wonderful way to establish a morning meditation practice.. Thank you Insight. I enjoy the opportunity to connect with others meditating in my community and around the globe. It has been established from studies that meditation improves your physical and mental health. Insight Timer. Highly recommended

Loving Community of Meditators. Insight Timer not only helps to create a consistent meditation practice, it offers thousands of opportunities to learn from the best teachers. It allows anyone to access meditation and guidance free of charge. I used the free app version for well over a year before I purchased a subscription. The subscription is well worth the money as it connects you to daily insight and guided course work to work on personal development and spiritual growth in a wide range of areas. I think the biggest benefit is the community. You can literally see your not meditating alone, this connection to meditators world wide spreads the truth of unity, connection to all and lifts our planet into a state of peace and grace. There is support here in a wide variety of groups and positive friendships. I’m a Soul Coach and highly recommend Insight to all of my clients. Customer service/support is also very responsive if any glitches arise in app use(which is rare). Thank you Insight 🙏🥰

Best App I have ever used. Insight timer has given me everything I need to build my meditation practice. I was skeptical at first, because I am really picky about adding something especially an app when it comes to my meditation practice. But I am so happy that I gave it a try. I have used it nearly every day for a year and a half now and it has every tool I could ask for. I use a few different practices in each meditation and the ability to set timers anywhere I want allows me to seamlessly switch between practices. On those days that I just don’t have the spirit to do my own meditation the timer, I can choose a guided meditation from one of my Favorite teachers. And on days when I am struggling with something specific, I know that insight will have a meditation for it that I can find. All in all, this app is nothing short of amazing. I recommend it to anyone looking to get started or build their meditation practice and honestly I recommend it to everyone else too! Joel

The (formerly) Best Meditation App!. ***Update*** The heart of most meditation practices is to detach our attention from the ordinary thought flow of the mind—what Theresa of Avila called, “the ravings of a madman”—to be present to the space that opens between the thoughts. I wish there were a standalone timer app, as was the case for many years. I would gladly pay good money for that. Now this is a community focused, meditation course driven platform that happens to include the original timer. This may work for some people, but I find all the pictures and courses distracting from my purpose: to be quiet for a set amount of time. I wish the developers could split this in to two apps—one with supporting content; and the other, a good old fashioned timer, as before. ***original 5 star review*** I have used this app for years--for thousands of hours. It allows me to have precise control over meditation times, beginning, ending, and interval bells, and has a log and statistics to boot! Additionally it has a variety of beautiful bell (singing bowl) tones and allows me to have preset times with specific interval and bell settings. Thanks to the developers for reverting to the original icon with this update!! This is an excellent app.

Every day anchor. I absolutely love and depend on this app. I’ve been using it daily since 2018. I began using it for free just for the timer. Then I discovered the library of guided meditations and a whole new world opened up. What an amazing resource! I love the offerings from so many amazing teachers from all over the world, discovering new methods, practices, and learning through all the different courses that are offered. As a spiritual person who also struggles with anxiety and at times depression, I am so grateful for this app. I love how there’s recommended meditations based on how I am feeling. I also have my go to’s bookmarked and downloaded so I can use them in airplane mode while I sleep. I love the tracking for not just meditation but also breathing, yoga and more. I use it every day, sometimes several times a day and I feel significantly better with it. Absolutely worth paying for and I frequently pay teachers whose meditations I use repeatedly and appreciate that took. Thank you insight timer!!

Loyal daily user!. I have been on IT for a few years now and I upgraded last year because, well, why shouldn’t I? I’d been using it for free for years and honestly it is a good price for the fact I use it every day. The benefits are wonderful, I really love the features like the playlists and the free courses. My eight year old also uses the kids section and we do meditations together because of this app. I don’t really go for the “online community“ aspect, but that is active if you want it. The range and selection of meditations is phenomenal and IT has expanded amazingly over the years, now with live classes and yoga... everything I try is great. Music is also a feature I use. I recommend IT to a lot of folx with insomnia, you can reach for your phone in the night and turn on a sleep meditation, it works! Not to mention always being free for everyone to bring meditation to the world! What a gift! I am happy to pay and to support something so valuable in my life. Thank you!!!!

A Rich and Wonderful Resource. I learned about this app through connections with the Mindful Self Compassion group I began to meditate with shortly after Pandemic “stay at home” guides were in place. Both the group and this app have been silver linings during this challenging time of loss, environmental crises and social political upheaval. This app offers so many types of practice and many diverse teachers. I especially appreciate the attention to current life issues in our common humanity. I recommend this app regularly to my colleagues, clients and friends. I am continually grateful for the creativity and many spiritual informative offerings. I do have one recommendation. The app search function used to be easier to use. I would greatly appreciate more accurate results when you search by topic. Often my search results have unrelated information or topics. There is such a wealth of resource on this app. It would be helpful to obtain relevant search results. Thank you. Kate

Problems. Unfortunately recent updates have made the app more glitchy and less useful. I have used your out for a while. But it seems that it's become more difficult to use the simple timer. The need to constantly tinker with things and the inability to leave things as they are seems to be a problem with all technology. It seems that you have missed the point of what you're trying to teach. Less is more. Just to use the timer now, which I find glitchy and sometimes pauses for no reason, it is necessary to be asked if you want to do a daily check in. Why? I want to start my meditation and first I have to answer a question. There is something wrong there. Why complicate very simple thing? I think the assumption is this everybody needs guidance, but please don't interrupt something that is so simple with what you think someone might need. Thank you.

Love this app; love the app developers. UPDATE: A year later and I continue to use this app twice per day for my meditation practice. There have been several big updates to the app this year and the integration and transitions have been seamless. The app continues to get better over time. I highly recommend the Insight Timer. Previous review: If you are looking for a simple meditation timer, this is a great app for you. There are a variety of bells and gongs to signal you during or at the beginning and end of your meditation. But this app can be more than a timer if you so desire. It can log your meditation if so you can keep track of your practice. It gives different colored stars for reaching milestones. Or if you hate the idea of getting stars you don't have to use that part of the app! There is a nice selection of guided meditations to choose from if you like getting some guidance. But you don't have to use them. There is a journal feature and tons of forums you can join and participate in with like minded people. Or not. You can reach out to members and make friends. Or not. Am I painting a picture here? I hope so. This app can simply be a meditation timer or it can offer a portal to a community. And to top it off I feel like the developers really listen to what the community says. It can be a wonderful community for you or it can simply be a meditation timer. The choice is yours.

Help!!!!!. I have used this app for a few years. Now that you updated it I no longer can understand how to use it. Very disappointed. Just be forewarned, on occasion you May be expected to turn yourself into your own IT person to resolve update issues. And it could happen when it is midnight and you are trying desperately to use this APP to fall asleep. I really do like this APP and am now determined to understand how to resolve all issues when the APP does not work as expected. My first recommendation is to have a backup to aid sleeping when you cannot get this APP to work. I have now been able to resolve my most pressing issue, the loss of the meditations I frequently use to fall asleep. I did this by simply updating the APP. It should have been my first step to resolve the issue. I admit it was my BAD!!!!! However with too many years on me it took me days to come up with this solution. I now have only one burning issue with this APP and am patiently waiting to hear back from the developers. The issue is how can I use it his APP offline? Sometimes my WIFI at home goes down. Or I am traveling and hotel WIFI does allow for unlimited connected time. I would like the developers to be more personal when responding to requests for help. I tend to get a laundry list of suggestions none of which apply to my issue. Once they do this I will change this posting to 5 Stars.

Suggestion from long-time user. Hello, and THANK YOU for the years of supporting my meditation practice. I have admittedly tried several other apps over the years but always come back to this one. I do love the integrations over the years, it seems like when I first started it was only a timer. look how far you’ve come and how many lives you’ve supported! There has always been one feature that I do not care for, and I’m sure other long-term users would completely disagree with me. But I thought I’d share and see what your thoughts would be. While I appreciate knowing my history of meditating something that can be accidentally disappointing is realizing I have been going for a while and then miss a day and then my “streak” goes back to zero and I start over. I don’t care whether I miss a day or not, but the app infuses this care by letting me know my streak. And then, when I get up into the higher numbers I can accidentally start meditating to maintain my streak rather than why I meditate to begin with, which I don’t like. So - just my thought, see if anyone else thinks this if you want, my only suggestion would be see if you can tie this “streak” to something positive for people whether they have gone 1 day 100 days and skipped a day and for the people meditating 2 or 3 times/week. Something positive in the same realm as that beautiful daily quote that always pops up. thank you!

So excellent and diverse, many choices. If you’re looking for a meditation app, try this. Even if you’re freaked out by the idea of meditation, check it out. There are SO many options, genres, easily searched with filter options. It’s not all “om”, or “inner child meditation”. There’s tech detox, white noise, guided, unguided, sound healing, etc- I gush about this app frequently. I’m not a huge fan of guided meditations, but this app has THOUSANDS of meditations, music tracks, very short to very long, etc. I think there really is something here for anyone- including babies. Yes, all ages. Insight team/development- No criticism here! Just please please please add playlists soon- I’m waiting for them like a little kid waiting for Santa to come on Christmas! I really hope you can get this in an update soon. The app is TREMENDOUS. It’s helped me immensely. Thank you so much for all the work and constant efforts and improvements- I’ve never had a single issue with the app, it’s super reliable.

Rewind; ratings issue. I've used this app for several years since it had a different name. It's by far my favorite meditation app and I've recommended it to many others. The variety of guided meditations is outstanding and I use the timer weekly for a group meditation I lead. Here are two criticisms with explanations: 1) I understand the decision to start a paid version with features such as downloads, playlists and repeat mode but I'm very disappointed that rewind/fast forward requires a subscription. Actually, I'd settle for offering rewind alone for free while keeping FF as a premium feature. It's so frustrating to miss instructions or part of a lecture but then not be able to go back. This seems like a really basic feature and one that should have been built in a long time ago. 2) Please give us the opportunity to rate meditations/lectures we did not finish BECAUSE WE DISLIKED THEM. Skewed sampling causes grade inflation and is why most sessions are rated between 4.6-4.9. Has anyone seen, say, a 3.5? I have not, but I've abandoned quite a few I would have rated as such.

New update has too many features. 2nd new update: I do use this app daily and believe there are excellent resources and teachers that are outstanding. Many of the past problems have been fixed — thank you. Many new problems have now arisen. The latest update rolled out does not work for the latest iPhone SE. While the text is now larger it does not fit in the field of the screen. Many words are bunched together or do not show completely. The new format takes a while to learn to navigate, and many new additions are not ones I will use, although they may be interesting to other users. Old update: The most recent user update is much more difficult to navigate. A smaller font makes it more challenging to read, even for those with good eyes that don’t need glasses. Sorry to see an easy to navigate app turned more confusing. Also in the The counting of days using the app and consecutive days using the app is incongruent within the app itself. In one place showing the actual days I’ve meditated and then another at very different number. Other bugs not mentioned here still need to be worked out.

Best all around meditation app in the store. I have been using Headspace for guided mindfulness practice, but you can't beat Insight for flexibility and the community. I like the combination of a great timer and a diverse selection of guided meditations. No matter what style of meditation you want to practice, you will probably find something that you like in the guided meditation section. There is one feature that I hope will never go away. You can start music or other audio file and use Insight's timer at the same time. Insight doesn't exclusively take over the audio output like some other apps. I use this app daily and plan to continue. I'm currently doing the 365 day playlist. Update: after 800+ hours of use, I have a feature request. I would like to be able to import from the health app as well as export. That way, any meditation that syncs with Apple Health would add time to Insight timer which is my master tracker. I love this app so much that I have purchased a paid subscription. Please, keep up the good work.

All You Could Ask For. This app is wonderful! I downloaded it to help me get to sleep, and there are many meditations here (guided, nature sounds, music) that have helped immensely with that. A life-changing bonus has been starting my day, rather than with news or social media, with uplifting, positive meditations - there are even some that talk you through stretching or other gentle exercises. This has really improved my outlook, which affects my whole day in a good way, and that, of course, positively affects those around me, which, hopefully, they then share... I appreciate that the teachers and guides receive payment for their work via the app, and additionally, the app makes it easy to donate to them. I’m not yet able to afford the paid version, but plan to make that purchase as soon as possible to do my part to support them & the developers. My previous review was very critical of the free version not offering rewind & fast-forward; I don’t even miss that now because of how many great things this app offers.

More and more invasive!. All I want is a timer. This app used to provide that but the dollar signs and Mac mindfulness set have made it a real slog just to find my little bell timer. Its a timer. My timer should come up as soon as I turn it on! The developers told me I could set it up so the timer displays right away, but I still get an unwelcome quote to distract me and waste my time, and I find them invasive and not to my taste. The timer then appears very awkwardly. This app is all about mcmindfulness and no longer for the serious practitioner! Over the years it has changed insidiously, first counting the minutes and days I practiced, then pushing other people’s photos into my face after meditating, and offering meditation teachers and counselors from all over the spectrum, presumably with the app’s seal of approval. The most dangerous trend is the inclusion of corporate meditation, which Insight Timer is now pushing. This is very useful in creating a compliant workforce and potentially can violate your privacy. People, please realize that you are in a very suggestive state when you meditate, especially during guided meditation and manipulation is an issue. I recommend that people investigate the criticisms of corporate mindfulness for themselves.

Me, too. Life Changing✔️. I heard about Insight Timer several years ago and began listening to music on it first a bit. I was going through a challenging time and the music seemed to calm me down during the worst times. It was all I had to work with then. But- Meditate? I never had and certainly Not at that time. But things progressed, And now, 4-5 years later, I am meditating daily, several times a day, in many different ways, use Solfeggio frequency music/sounds while doing many tasks , to help me sleep and regain my presence. It all leads up to me going from an ADD state to a calm, focused person able to return to center. I know what being grounded is for the first time in 59 years. What a gift! So many talented and gifted, generous teachers share on the app. I’m forever grateful. My phone hole household actively uses IT, and the dog, too. As soon as she hears the first words or notes coming from a teacher, chime, or instrument, she immediately lies down and goes into a peaceful sleep! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽All my Gratitude.

The best and the worst.. I give insight timer five stars in general as great resource for meditation/healing. I’ve been a paying member for almost 2 years now. I love it for the free meditations that it offers in general and some of the more in-depth things for paying members. But Ive grown increasingly disillusioned lately when I am starting to see some of the prices attached to some of the offerings. $1000 for a tarot course with Keziah Gibbons? $1500 for three sessions with Davidji? I guess it’s the sad reality of the world when something wonderful slowly turns sour as greed rears its ugly head. I totally understand that people should be paid for their services but to use a platform like this to make a living beyond donations or small fees seems very very wrong to me. I think insight timer the developers and the people who run it should really look into this and really rethink allowing such things. People come to you for healing and your biggest advertisement is that you were a free app. Don’t let this happen
