Fast Tract Diet App Description & Overview

What is fast tract diet app? Fast Tract Diet App helps you identify gut friendly foods versus hard-to-digest foods, track and chart your meals and symptoms, create shopping lists and quickly look up symptom potential for specific foods & drinks at your favorite market on the fly.

Fast Tract Diet is based on a flexible “FP” point system adaptable to a variety of dietary preferences. Each food is assigned a specific point value based on its symptom potential; the lower the points, the lower the symptom potential.

Fast Tract Diet addresses the symptoms of Functional Gastrointestinal Disorders and Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) and related digestive and general health issues including:
• Gas, bloating, distension and belching
• Cramps, abdominal pain and indigestion
• Diarrhea, constipation or altered bowel habits
• Heartburn, sore throat, sinus irritation, persistent cough, sour taste, hoarseness, lump in throat feeling and post nasal drip
• Respiratory symptoms
• Allergic and autoimmune reactions

A Lifesaver!!. I can't begin to thank Dr. Norm Robillard enough for writing the book and making this app; thanks to these two things I have a full picture of my gut issues. Other approaches never solved the questions I had...like, "if rice flour is gluten-free, why is it giving me digestive distress!?" The reason: this app shows FERMENTATION POTENTIAL of food, based on the portion sizes you use...a revelation!! Fermentation potential is s huuuuuge key that many of us with IBS never were told about before. This app helps me manage my life while answering a myriad of questions no other doctor or protocol could answer for me before. Thank you, Dr. Robillard; this app has helped me immensely!!!

Makes you sign up for an account before you can use it. After paying eight dollars. You can’t even use the app right away. You have to give away personal information and sign up for an account with the company and then wait for them to send you a verification email before you can even use the app or look up anything on the food list

Good idea. Not worth the money. The foods are not all added in the database so correct information is not there. Might be worth the right dollars in the future but right now I feel ripped off

Life Saver for SIBO. I highly recommend this app. This helps me manage my fp and keeps me in check. It has many great features...buy it!

Great addition to the book or alone. This app is a great addition to Dr Norm Robillard's "Fast Tract Diet" book. I appreciated having the additional information and explanations in the book. That said, I think you would still gain huge benefits from just using this app alone as well. To the woman who can't find foods easily, look for the little looking/magnifying glass at the top of the screen in the app. If you tap on that, you can "search" for foods. I do that most of the time. The "FP Food Lists" are helpful when I want a food in a particular category, but not sure exactly what I want to eat or shop for. I can go, for example, to the "Grains, Flours" section and see which ones have the lowest FP from which to choose. I LOVE the built-in FP calculator and being able to add my own custom foods or recipes to the database so I can really customize the app for me. The meal & symptom trackers are super helpful and love the graphical display of that info on the "Dashboard" section.

Fantastic!. An incredible resource for anyone trying to control IBS, acid reflux, or SIBO through Norm Robillard's Fast Tract Diet.

Fast Tract Diet. I found the book by Dr. Robillard very informative and helpful. The book is chock full of information regarding IBS issues, SIBO and other digestive issues that I have had in the past and continue to have. The only issue I am having with the two week fast tract diet is that I am a vegetarian and there is no alternative diet offered. I am hoping that there may be a supplement book to the Fast Tract Diet, but if not, I still learned useful and important information regarding my digestive problems. Thank you Mary Tyler

Good idea, not ready for market yet.. I purchased this app, but it’s basically useless. Almost all of the food I eat is not listed in the database. For example, Brussels sprouts is not listed, but raw pumpkin leaves are??? It’s pretty much impossible to utilize this app if the food you eat is not listed. Also, the user needs to find out each particular foods glycemic index, which is NOT part of the app. This was a waste of money for me.

Fantastic cured!. I’ve been on this diet for just over a year and In that time cured my LPR, Barrett’s, ulcer, gastritis etc. The app was really helpful when I started out to learn how to eat this way. Thank you Norm! I’ve recommended it to many friends.

Difficult to search, expensive. If this was a free or low cost app, then I wouldn't mind, but this app costs $8 and it is not user friendly. The foods are sorted into different categories, and within each category they are sorted by their "FP" score. That's great if you're looking for ideas on what to eat, but if you want to look up the "FP" value of a particular food, you have to scroll through each list carefully so you don't miss it. That's very time consuming and could easily be fixed by adding a search function. I also think it is very greedy to charge $8 for an app that provides no new information (and functions poorly, as I already mentioned). I imagine a lot of people will have already purchased the book about this diet. If you already own the book, this app is DEFINITELY not worth the price.

Good diet app needs more foods listed. The books and diet are great and do work! The app is extremely limited with foods and they need to add all the foods in a calorie counting book as would be expected. Save your money and just use the book.

Life saver. Really a great find. I suffered from constant gas pressure and indigestion.so much so it hard to take deep breaths. Staying within the diets framework has been a life saver. Spent time at the Dr office and all they say is don't drink coffee, no pizza, no this no that... The diet allows me to still enjoy some basics while cutting out the things that I now know cause all issues. I would like to see a expanded list of foods. It's difficult to try and calculate GI on foods while your walking around the grocery store.

Update April 2016. April 2016 I decided to update my review and lower to only two stars not because I believe that app was not useful. It was. I say was. While I wrote and received responses back on a few other bugs in this app this last one rendered it useless for me. After spending well over a month entering in my daily food items using the app as a guide on what to eat it is now all lost! I updated my I pad to a new one. I did all the backups and double backups. None of that data transferred over to the new I pad. Had this app for $8 been able to sync over to different devices (as even free apps can do) I would of had it on my phone. So now what! start all over again. Think not. Paper or excel can work fine recording my data. More work but less chance of loss. Had I known this before I never would of bought it. Buy it you only have one device and never plan on replacing it. Otherwise skip. By the way, tech folks nice, But not very helpful. Thank you.

Back navigation not working. I just downloaded and off the bat noticed the navigation to go back does not work. App needs some bug fixes. Looks like it’s been a year since the last update. If I’m paying 8 bucks for this, I’d like to see regular updates. I’d also like to see this updated to include more vegan meal replacements/supplements (Vega, Sun Warrior, etc) as well as more vegan foods besides fruits veggies and rice. I feel like I wasted 8 bucks on this glitchy app. As a stated if ppl are paying 8 bucks, regular updates should be made—I get more bang for my buck from my free and $2 apps. I wish I could get a refund. This app has too many bugs. And I see the developer and the doctor have no intention on maintaining this. Smh.

Meh. I purchased this for my daughter’s SIBO. I think this could be super useful but I agree with those who say that the food list is abysmally small. Wish it was more like the lose it app. Huge food list and you can build recipes. Will still use it some but not worth 8$.

Helpful. Easy to use and informative. It is easy to see which foods have symptom risk with the points system. Helpful tools include the food & symptom tracker and symptom risk calculator. For best results, Dr. Robillard's book has additional information (e.g. about only eating freshly cooked starches.)

Bugs. Purchased the app today. Later tried to use my charging device (iPhone 6), it stopped charging within a few seconds and a message popped up stating "this accessory may not be supported". I deleted the app and my charger works. I re-downloaded the app and the same thing happened.

Easy to use app. Genius diet. It's working for me. Actually, it's a godsend. Symptoms nearly gone after just a week. Off antacids/h2 blocker which seemed impossible before. App has been easy to use. Thanks a ton. Update: Using the Fast Tract diet, I was able to be completely off antacids for about 6 months, after having to take them daily for many years. I overdid it this Thanksgiving so have been back on the Fast Tract for the past few days. Improving already! The Fast Tract diet really works! Highly recommend to anyone suffering chronic acid reflux/GERD. Norm Robillard has figured out the solution. I can’t thank him enough.

Works for me!. I have IBS and and the symptoms were driving me crazy! I started the diet using the book and on day one had substantial improvement. Have since also obtained the app and find the food lists in it with the ratings to be invaluable.

Save your money. This app is basically a huge waste of money. A lot of common foods are not listed, there’s no packaged food data or common recipes. I used this app for 10 minutes. I wish I could get a refund. I wouldn’t recommend that anyone spend more than $1 on this as that’s about how much value you’ll get out of it.

Somewhat helpful. In reviewing all the point scores, this doesn’t always agree with my list of high fodmap foods, in fact some this app say are safe are red/bad on my other app! Also there are a lot of weird foods on here, but not more common food items. And why give rum a low score for example when we know alcohol is a problem for SIBO (it’s high on my other one)? I’m just not sure I trust the data but where it agrees I will use it

LOVE THIS APP. I read the book and the app is so handy to see what you can eat along with the FP points. The only problem is that it doesn’t sync data between iPhone and iPad. If it did that, it would be perfect.

Poorly Done. This app is awkward to use, especially compared to apps like Symptom Tracker. The FP calculator slide bars only work for glycemic index. The food list is limited. I couldn't find a bar code input image, which makes adding some foods quite easy. I would like to have easy access to the FP of a vary of foods and a simple method to calculate FP for foods not included, but this app isn't there yet.

Overall useful, but glitchy. I’ve been using this app for about six weeks, consistently tracking my symptoms and meals. I will say that with a low (5-15/day) FP diet, my heartburn symptoms (burning sensation) have been eliminated, other symptoms have slightly reduced or stayed the same. As far as the app, it is useful for adding symptoms, noting your meals, and tracking overtime with the graph, however it is very glitchy, which frequently which makes it frustrating to use. For example, the buttons in general do not see very responsive, and either they are slow or have to be tapped multiple times to get them to do what they’re supposed to do (both the meal type/ symptom button page and the individual food items and symptoms); and many times when I hit the back button, the app closes all together. Also, when entering a new meal, almost invariably the very first item I enter ends up on the previous meal rather than the new meal that I’m entering, so I constantly have to double check what I’m entering and verify the meals after they’ve been entered. In addition to having the glitches fixed, the app could definitely use some other practical updates as other users have pointed out, but the glitches are the main reason for the reduced stars in this review.

Well worth it. Best decision in an app purchase I could have made. I use it daily, constantly, whether home or out. It's a great accountability tool and reality check for me if my symptoms go wonky.

On The Right Tract...Close but Not Quite. First: GRATEFULLY my gut responded immediately to this diet approach. Kudos!! And thank you science! App needs: 1) Sync between devices. No bug issues with my iPhone, but because it doesn't sync, I can't report on how it functions on other devices. 2) Calorie counts. Silly to track every morsel but not know what your daily caloric intake is, especially since many of us are now eating more calorie dense foods. If I'm going to bother tracking food, I might as well work to shed a few pounds, while I'm at it. Isn't that also good for gut health? Based on these deficiencies, I really don't think the app itself measures up to the quality one expects for its price. This one is more like free version functionality. If these concerns are improved on future updates, I'll change my review to 5⭐️ because it is a helpful, albeit lacking, companion to the book & diet.

Terrible App. I read the book and wanted to try this method of controlling GERD, but the app is horrendous. I read the reviews before getting it and expected that it wouldn’t have many foods, but dude, it seriously has almost nothing, and even trying to search for foods is ridiculous. Unless you type something in the search box that exactly matches how a food is entered, it doesn’t come up. For example, I tried searching for “shredded coconut” by typing “coconut” and then “shredded” and nothing came up. Then I tried “shredded” and “coconut” and nothing came up. Shredded coconut is on his FP food list given in the book, so there’s absolutely no reason it shouldn’t be in here. I even tried using it in conjunction with MyFitnessPal since they have pretty much everything, but you can’t track the right macros in MFP (i.e., there is no FP) and it would take forever to add all of the foods individually to the FTD app, all the while having to guess at the FP for each item. It’s an interesting concept, but man, it needs a lot of work before it can easily be applied. I don’t have the time to do all of this all on my own, and I figured that spending money on the book and the app would get me a lot more information than it has. The author has outlined some interesting ideas, but the implementation is too difficult so it’s not of much use. I really wanted to try this as a way of controlling my symptoms without medication, but this is not helpful at all.

no effort, save your money. Hasn’t been updated in 11 months. Also, there are FREE diet apps on the market with one million or more food items compared to this app with less than 1,000!

Good start but needs work. After purchasing the book, I chose to invest in the iphone app as well. I was hoping there would be more integration between the book and the application, including the recipes for the two week diet plan, which would help with shopping. The recipes are not included in the app. I was also hoping the application would include, in the foods list, the meals from the book, so that we could easily track the FP values of those meals, but that is also not available. Nor is it possible to simply input the pre-calculation FP values of the meals from the book. This last issue also brings up the poor user interface of the custom foods option. There appear to be sliders for inputting values such as carbs, fiber, etc... but only the glycemic index slider is actually functional. This seems to be an developer error/oversight that indicates the application design has not been well thought through or tested, or supported in updates. As I said, I am investing in the tools it takes to tackle health issues, but it would be nice if the tools worked as well as they really could. Get the recipes, the two week diet, the user interface issues cleared up and it's five stars from me. I really want this application to be the Go-To Tool. I want it to succeed!

Unusable for tracking food. I’ve been using this app for 4 days. It keeps giving different FP scores for the *exact same* foods and amounts. It has done this for at least 5 different items. It can be 5 FP for one meal, and 0 FP for the next. I have no idea which one is accurate. I tried emailing the company via the address provided in the app, but it bounced back as the email address is no longer operational. I’ve never paid so much for a nearly unusable app. I say “nearly” because at least I can track my symptoms on the app. Very frustrating to be unable to use it to track food.

The app is great!. I use this app all the time. It is great when I am shopping and eating out. It really helps me make wise choices in what I eat!

Love this app. Let me preface this by saying that I know this app is far from perfect BUT, it has truly been a lifesaver in helping me track my FP points for the day!! I couldn’t have been successful in following a low FP diet without this app. With that being said, I do wish it was a little more flexible in terms of being able to add different foods without having to go through so many steps. Personally, I’m not concerned about my FP points per meal. I am looking at the FP points for the whole day. Also, I would love to see more foods added!! Such as salsa, or micro greens, or Mexican shredded cheese. Stuff like that. All in all a good app for the price! Highly recommend if you’re following the FTD!

Definitely worth it. I love the app, I use it all the time. It's intuitive and easy to use. It allows you to look up foods at home and on the go (when eating out or shopping, for example), calculate and record FPs for recipes or new foods, keep track of daily FPs... I am rather new to the diet, and this has been a wonderful tool in addition to Dr. Norm's book.

App has many bugs. I’m still evaluating whether this diet works for me, but it’s incredibly frustrating trying to create low FP recipes in this app. I’ve been attempting to change the number of servings on one recipe, and the app closes itself every time without saving any of my changes. Also, for foods you’ve added yourself - they show up blank in a recipe, so you have to guess about what it was you added. It’s also just cumbersome to begin with, so I wouldn’t recommend.

Love it!. The FTD has saved me from a life of debilitating asthma, GERD and LPR and this app facilitates the implementation.

Great. This is a great app. Not sure why the other reviewer mentioned not being able to search for specific items. Just click the search icon and type in the name of the food. I almost didn't buy the app because of mixed reviews, but I have been able to return purchases before through the App Store, so I thought I'd try it out. It doesn't have all the foods I eat, but you can pick a food that is similar. I also like that you can add your own foods. So if there is something I eat a lot, I could add up the FPs (like a rice cake with almond butter). Then I don't have to input those two ingredients separately in the future. Good app to help you figure out your FPs. My gastro NP said to have 15 FPs per meal.

.. The app is a great tool, very helpful and easy to use.

Great. No idea where the bad reviews are coming from. This app is super simple and super handy. Only improvement is more food in the database as well as ability to scan a barcode but the calculator is handy when the food is not in the database. Only on day 1 of this diet and can already tell it’s the one for me.

Helpful start to FTD. I read about the FTD online, and decided that I would try the app. So far I have found it helpful in tracking my foods and symptoms. The foods list is a little bit limited considering that it only has about 800 foods in it, and obviously we eat many more types of foods. So when I don't find a food in it, I use something comparable or I add a custom food item. The custom recipe option though seems like it could be improved because all it does is add up the FPs for each ingredient. I'm thinking that the combination of ingredients would probably have a different FP, but I'm not sure about that. It would also be great to have some sample recipes included, and I agree with other reviewers about the syncing problem although I'm told that that will be fixed in an upcoming version. I'm also hoping that there will be a way to add custom symptoms since my symptoms differ a little bit from the symptoms list that comes with the app. Overall, I'm finding it helpful and useful, so it is worth it for me.

Life saver!. After a SIBO diagnosis and two weeks on an elemental diet to starve off bad bacterial and reset my digestive tract, my doctor recommended this app to help the transition back to solid foods. The Fast Track Diet app saved me so much confusion and helped make food fun again. I love that I can find some pre-made foods but can also create my own foods in the app so I can easily determine what is most likely to make me sick or not.

Fantastic!. This app makes the Fast Tract Diet - an amazingly effective way to manage acid reflux that can however be a bit overwhelming - completely manageable. With this app, I have been able to keep up the diet for a straight week, and my symptoms are now markedly reduced. I have not felt this good in months. Worth every penny!!!

Helpful, but could use some improvements.... I have found this app to be very useful, but the following improvements would be nice: 1. Sync between devices 2. Ability to add multiple items at a time when tracking food 3. Expansion of the general library of foods for which FP have been calculated. Perhaps by crowdsourcing and allowing users to add to the library each time the calculator is used and a custom item is saved. If there are concerns about a calculation being unverified, those particular items could be in a different color to warn users. 4. Category lists available in alphabetical order, not just by ascending FP amounts. While there is an overall alphabetical listing provided, it would still be helpful to have this feature by category when planning menus and trying to make sure all food groups are included. 5. Integration of Glycemic Index lists for easier calculations. Or, at the very least, links to acceptable lists, so users don't need to go out of the app to look these items up. 6. Inclusion of caloric amounts for food items, as many users are also concerned about their caloric intake. 7. Inclusion of recipes that are in the book and ability to add them when tracking food, so users don't have to add each ingredient individually.

The Diet is great, app still needs work. The app is pretty glitchy at times. I’ve used it off and on for a few years now. The diet works well if you follow it and have digestive issues. But the app needs attention. Recently I haven’t been able to add any custom foods. When I go to add them they never save. This problem started in the past 6 months or so. The food lists are pretty limited so being able to add custom foods is pretty important. Maybe they should do a more community/user submitted database similar to my fitness pal..Where there is a more vast database of user submitted foods. Just an idea.

Fast track diet. This app is the best money I ever spent. I used the book but was always turning pages. If you can totally commit to this way of eating you will see results. It took me a year to finally decide that bad food choices could kill me. When I finally realized my health was in danger, I decided I had to do this for life. My lpr and IBS-c are definitely better.

Don’t waste your $. The ap is really pretty basic. The food list is pretty limited, and adding a custom food item is labor intensive (hellloooo? Bar code scan??) It is not integrated with the boos or diet plan, it’s just an expensive way to track carbs. You could do this easier and cheaper with Cronometer.

Limited food list. Great app, purchased just for food list, however the food list is very SAD-based (Standard American Diet) and not as whole foods based as could be. Too many processed foods listed (breads, dressings, desserts, etc.). Many 'alternative' ingredients that those of us have been using for a long time in the Paleo/AIP community are missing, as are many whole foods. I understand this as there are still so many folks that do not eat entirely the whole foods way (yet). However, would love to see a more exhaustive whole foods list of raw & cooked foods.

So many bugs. I’m extremely frustrated that I wasted money on this app. It doesn’t respond when I click on things, freezes almost every time I use it. Not to mention it has a very limited database of items to choose from. I wish I hadn’t wasted my money.

Limited use poor ui. The information is helpful but it could really use a professional once over by a ui/ux designer. One thing that would help so much would just simply being able to sort by points.

Works for reflux!. I've battled reflux for years and this app and the Fast Tract Diet are enabling me to tame that demon. The app is very simple and intuitive. If you use the diet, the app makes it much easier!

Fast Track Diet. I can't live without this app and use it everyday, it is very easy to use especially for a quick calculation in the supermarket.Knowledge is power and this is what I have now to beat LPR, Thank you Dr Norm

Highly recommend. Loving the app in helping me keep my SIBO symptoms under control. The diet and it’s principles just work and are the only thing that has worked to keep my SIBO symptoms and pain under control. The app makes it very easy to track my symptoms and what I’ve eaten.

App is great. I reviewed this app previously without knowing how it worked. After learning how it works I've found it a great resource.

Couldn’t be with this app. I wish I knew about Fast Tract Diet years ago. It would have saved me from stress, wondering what to eat and how to manage my symptoms. I recommend you try this if you are suffering from digestive issues. A real life changer. Thank you

Worth every cent, Low FP is the New Black!!. This app is so helpful in tracking food and FP count for the day as well as tracking symptoms. It provides a useful chart in week and monthly views and helps you understand the relationship between high FP days and increased symptoms. The food search is so useful and you can add your custom foods too. The FP diet was the answer for me in ridding my headaches and fatigue by keeping my FP intake low. Paleo wasn't enough, low histamine diets weren't not enough. This is a good balance between paleo and the starches to avoid that are "paleo friendly". Thank you Norm for all your hard work. The eBook is a definite must read and purchase on top of the app and it's even cheaper than the app. Both extremely affordable and to me personally, priceless. I can literally say I've tried several diets due to many food intolerances but this is the only one that's actually helped reduce the headaches, fatigue and bloating. Totally and utterly recommend to anyone with SIBO, histamine sensitivity or IBS etc.. diet is the thing to start with before looking to antibiotics (natural or otherwise) or medications. I only wish I knew about this 10 years ago.

Great app. This is a great resource for anyone following this eating plan. Easy to find foods, log points and symptoms. Allows you to customize meals and figure out points easily. Also has some great background about IBS and Heartburn. Highly recommend. My only suggestion is that the developer keeps adding foods!

Just a food tracker. Definitly not worth the money . Way to expensive for a food tracker

SyncIng multiple devices??. It would be great to have a log in that would sync across multiple devices. This is the way we live!

Fast Tract Diet app. The App gives a good overview of the diet, a comprehensive food list and the ability to track and review both food consumed and symptoms. I wouldn't be without it. As for the diet itself, it's enabled me to finally get relief from my digestive issues after years of suffering.

It didn't work for me. My initial review for this protocol was very hopeful, but it has been a year now and I can say that this did not work for me. My reflux was terrible on this diet, even when I initially kept my daily FP under 10. In fact, I then tried keeping it under 5 and still had no success. Finally, I tried an extreme 0FP experiment, eating only eggs, fish, salt and oil for several weeks. My gas went down, but my reflux was awful. My LPR was really bad. Things got much worse. After 5 months of a strict <10Fp diet my LPR did not improve. I experimented with various low FP combinations for another 7 months to no avail. Instead what yields improvement for me is a diet that speeds gastric transit. Doing anything I can to keep that system moving as quickly as possible reduces my symptoms better than anything else I've tried. I avoid starchy foods like rice and potatoes entirely, but I eat foods with fibre. I avoid grains, apart from white wheat flour products like crumpets and certain crackers, which are not a problem for me, which is contrary to the Fast Tract Diet's theoretical basis. Blueberries help a lot. Mashed chickpeas, blended celery are fine. My diet is extremely limited. I can only eat about 5 foods without getting bad LPR which causes throat pain and debilitating hoarseness. To stay alive I supplement with vitamins and amino acids, which are my main protein source. It's not a healthy diet, but being unable to speak is the alternative and reflux-induced oesophageal cancer is a possibility if reflux goes on for too long. The app itself is quite good for seeing the fibre, FP and carb content of a wide range of foods, though it's disappointing that in a year there has not been an update. It still doesn't provide important data like calories and protein content, meaning that to design a diet, other apps are required to be used at the same time, preferably on two phones so one can see the FP and macros together while choosing foods to add. If the app alone doesn't help you, Norman recommends his consultation service. His website pushes that service fairly hard. Fair enough, that's how he makes a living. But he charges thousands of dollars for the consultations, and if you are like me and eating a low LP diet doesn't fix your reflux, that money will be wasted. Good luck, everyone!

Fast Tract Diet. This app made following Dr. Norman Robillard's Fast Tract Diet a piece of cake. It's well laid out and easy to use.
