GEICO Mobile - Car Insurance Comments & Reviews 2026
Great app, great service except for claims. Have been a GEICO customer for many years. The service and app are great. Had a minor accident a couple of months ago. Initial processing was great. The car was towed timely and we were given a rental for a month. Unfortunately, the claims process soon became absolutely painful. The underwriter was not responsive, used an inappropriate comp, and created a nightmare for us. Delay tactics and stonewalling were used to force us to accept a low settlement amount. We had to return the rental after a month and GEICO dropped the dismantled car in our neighborhood to avoid paying garage charges and without our consent. After almost 2 months of no response and upon escalating the claim internally, we were able to reach acceptable agreement. Even then, the underwriter didn’t clearly explain what we need to do nor was interested to help. I hope this was an isolated incident. Our claim processing has left me deeply disappointed in a company that I thought was a leader in the space and one of the best. Fairness and customer service for claims should definitely be reviewed and improved.
Very clunky. This app may be ok for viewing your policy number and getting contact info for Geico, but filing claims, taking photos for estimates and handling claim process is pretty terrible. There is no way to edit or correct info if it is accidentally entered. It won’t let you change vehicle owner (assumes my husband is owner of all our vehicles). It would not let me delete estimate pictures that were not focused, etc, in order to replace with better photos (the photos are so small they look ok but once you accept them you see that they are blurry or cropped incorrectly, but you can’t remove and replace them). If you add additional photos from your photo library, the app freezes after EACH additional photo you download; so you have to close it and log back in each time (7 times in this case!). The photo feature for estimates is really just terrible. Needs so much work. This goes for the website as well. Claims process is just as bad online, same issues, just as clunky. You have to contact an agent to fix things…and good luck with that (wait on hold for 45 min just yo have the phone system hang up on you without ever talking to anyone). Disappointing.
Amazing. My mind is honestly blown. I called because of a incredibly minor error on our policy, my last name didn’t reflect my name change after getting married, and I wanted to make sure it matched my license. I called Geico’s number from the mobile app, due to me calling from the app all of my info was automatically available to the representative, SUPER convenient. There was no wait time (I known thats not always possible but I’m very happy about it) the representative was professional, knowledgeable, and quick. Most importantly he was in a fantastic mood, and really seemed to enjoy his job, from a customer standpoint this was my favorite thing about this call, it was so refreshing. He changed my last name to the correct name and sent out new Vehicle ID cards and I was off the phone within 3 min. I have honestly never experienced customer service this helpful and efficient!!!! I only wish I asked his name because if I knew it I would be calling Geico to talk to a manager to tell them how great this employee is! I am new to Geico, and all I have to say is so far so good!! Thank you so much for making this easy!
Pressure to use app. I downloaded the app, but I preferred road side assistance when it was not all automated. The provider ask me for feedback before the service was completed. I am waiting for service now but the app is no longer giving updates. When I called it warned me about long wait times and referred me back to the app. The app seems to be almost mandatory so I recommend it. However since I do not have unlimited cellular data or wi if while traveling it does not inspire me with confidence that the company pushes the app so much. Last year also had a problem when I reported an accident. It did not give me enough options and reported the accident as my fault when it was not. It was a year before all departments within Geico corrected the error. There are just problems when drop down box communication is the only option. Still waiting for roadside service and getting no updates about time. Phone service for the company going to voicemail. To knowing if they are coming is a problem
Great experience. I called in to find a cheaper premium for my car insurance. The quote I originally got online was a very low number (my driving record isn’t the best) so I was very skeptical about the amount they provided. Of course after running my license number the premium went up a lot! It was going to be more than my current payment amount. My agent was very quick to find me a solution and make sure I got what I needed for a good price. She made sure I got all the discounts I was eligible for and I was was soo grateful for the 15% the company is adding to clients payments during this pandemic, in addition to that my payment for the second month was only $39. I am starting school that month and won’t be working so that helped A LOT! Overall she was amazing, friendly, helpful, understanding and really gave me the best experience I’ve ever had with an insurance company. She really cared about giving me everything I was looking for. I am excited to be back with Geico.
You really know, until you know!. Getting to know you have Great Insurance the Hard way. I switched to GEICO at the end of 2018, coming from USAA after 11 years. Had a flat tire on my motorcycle, just needed a 5 mile tow to work, put a new tire on when I get there, called they said you don’t have towing, what? I’m fully covered, yep...All except towing, we no longer offer in Ca? Then 2 months later, my insurance jumps 300+ for my policy, why, more expensive now. Welcome GEICO, blessing. I had you for 3 months, 10ft from my driveway, 10 mph and 30 ft away from putting down the kickstand, swerved missing a coyote and bam, hit my neighbors suv . You guys effortlessly take care of my neighbors vehicle, process my bike in less than 30 days, I’m very impressed. A year later heading home from work, lady makes an illegal left turn in front of me, launching me 35 ft over her car a landing in the road. Again, there for me again handling it flawlessly. So, you never really know, until you know! I have been sending you all my friends and family any chance I get, why...because I know.
Just insured my boat last year with Geico marine. I was very frustrated and unhappy to hear that a person like me that has not had a ticket in 27 years and follows all the laws would have to hear through a letter that they were raising my boat insurance considerably. I had to get on the phone and work at it to finally talk to somebody to tell me why, And this was what was said due to so many wrecks and idiots in California on the waters we are going to punish everyone including the customers that follow the law. If that isn’t communist and isn’t wrong I don’t know what is. That I should have a raised insurance bill from other peoples wrong doings probably half of more on JetSki’s the other half don’t know how to drive a boat and they probably were all drunk. But is it right to punish a good customer because I have other bad apples I’m really disappointed in Geico I’m sure this review want to be put on the site cause I don’t wanna hear it.
GEICO is horrible. GEICO is horrible. I have had a glass damage claim (for the windshield of my car) open for weeks, and I have not been able to make any progress beyond the initial declaration of the damage, given the many roadblocks GEICO laid on my way. It is the phone number from the mobile app that tells me to send a written message, and then the reply to the written message that tells me to call the same phone number. The “dog trying to eat its own tail” madness. In the meantime, my safety is being endangered while I am forced, by this bad quality, to drive a car with a damaged windshield. Also, at the same time and while all of this is going on, my dealership, the glass repair shop and GEICO are all playing to pass the ball to each other about who should take the next step. They all seem to think I am responsible for it. For sure, I am responsible for it, that is out of the question, but how can I really be responsible and be able to take care of it, if every time I try to make this claim move forward, one of the three stakeholders refers me to the two others? Absolute madness again. They are a bunch of irresponsible men and women brats catching me in the middle. Help! And fast!
Disappointed with the app. I really like GEICO as my insurance company but I have a serious issue with their app. I frequently drive with my son’s in the truck with me. Sometimes navigating is required at which time one of my son’s uses my phone because that’s where the directions are located or to make a phone call for me. When this happens I fed admonished over losing my “hands free” record and I lose points on my driving record which could cause me to lose my discount. I could always go into the app and say I wasn’t driving but that would be lying. I could say I was the passenger or was not on the car but I would be lying. There is absolutely no option stating someone else was using my phone. I have expressed my frustration with this to a representative over the phone but got shrugged off. Surely it couldn’t be that difficult for you to add that option. I’ve also gotten the warning when I’ve pulled over and parked my truck to make a call and am not moving. It’s highly annoying. Please fix these issues.
Horrible insurance company. FIND ANOTHER INSURANCE COMPANY!!! I’ve been with this insurance non provider for three years full coverage never missed a payment on time and consistent. When I first contact Geico for a policy I was told you pay slightly more (50 dollars more than more than All State or other companies) for “good fast service and easy app to use”… WRONG. First off the app is slow and glitchy. I was hit and run a few days ago , took them 3 days to even contact me, couldn’t send the photo or even work with them, just for them to say that the claim is my fault driving my car. I called Geico to have extremely rude customer server the entire time, I spend 3 hours on the phone with 0 questions answered. This COMPANY DOES NOT CARE FOR YOU, no one cares at all at Geico, out of 3 service/ claims people I talked, all of them just wanted to end the call, while I was asking a question to the one server person, they talked to some one around them ignoring our phone call, saying “let me end this dumb call and let’s go to lunch should only take 2 minutes” after that they said they’d transfer me to there manager, then they just hung up. Just zero care for there policy holders. Don’t even download this app FIND ANOTHER INSURANCE COMPANY!!!!!!!! It’s too bad this company buys there review to have 4.8 star rating here, don’t be fooled, it too bad I couldn’t leave 0 star rating.
Not customer focused.. Over charged us, caused an overdraft charge, argued about paying us back both the double charge and overdraft after ensuring it would be returned. Gave me and my partner conflicting information multiple times. Had SOMEONE ELSE’S card information linked to our account two separate times. Had “no answers” for that. Over nighted us one check for the double charge after 10 days of disputing then a refund on the over draft in a check that would take 7-10 business days to receive almost 14 days after original dispute. Meaning we would pay our next bill before receiving the full refund on the money they had no problem taking from us and argued over. Poor customer service. Spoken to like we’re unintelligent children. It’s been sometime now since this incident and they still apply cards to our account that aren’t ares and are people whom we have no relationship with and have no access to our account. Lock us out of using new cards due to “to many attempts at adding the new card”… what? The app doesn’t work well and is constantly re-adding existing vehicles and information that has been there for some time. Deeply concerning ethics via the app and customer service. I would be weary of using this company if you have more than one vehicle or share your account with a spouse or family member.
Super buggy and no support. I just signed up for Geico with Drive Easy, but the app seems pretty garbage. At first it wouldn’t accept that I had turned on “motion and fitness” in my settings, because the app was taking me to the Geico part of settings but at least on an iPhone it’s in privacy, so I had to uninstall it and start over again. Then I set up my account and password, and every time I selected “keep me logged in” it would erase my password. It told me my password didn’t match, so I reset it, and with the new password got the exact same problem. Just to test my sanity I pulled up a browser and put in the same information and it accepted it just fine. So I uninstalled/reinstalled again, making sure to select “keep me logged in” first and typing in my password and it finally accepted the same information it had rejected a dozen times. I’m now super frustrated, out 45 minutes of my time, and there was no way to contact support through the app. The help section is only FAQs. When I called the agent who signed me up, she did her best to help me but she was just reading from what we’re probably the same FAQs
Drive easy not available. The app has been having problems with Drive Easy for over two weeks. There is no way to see or change my trips. I was already not pleased by the inaccuracy of Drive Easy for several reasons. It repeatedly had me down as handling my phone while I only used hands free through my car. I was able to correct these, but my drive score suddenly went from 91 to 68 in a week. Breakdown says that “smoothness” is concerning, but I can’t see any details to help me improve my driving. I contacted customer service via chat, and was basically told to change all my trips to passenger. They had no way of viewing what the concerns were either. A second contact when Drive Easy became unavailable only got me an answer of “if you can tell us which trips to adjust we can handle that”. Seriously!?! All trips for over two weeks? I was also told that Drive Easy is handled by another company who is aware of the problem and should be fixed within a week. That was 2 weeks ago. If I remove Drive Easy due to it not working I will have to pay an additional $220…although I imagine I’m going to pay that anyway when my policy comes up for review. Sad at best, shady at worst.
App needs work. I am writing this review through transcription via iPad. I can’t see what I’m writing because I guess by writing is white the same color as the background so as you can see this app absolutely needs work. Also when I try to input my new billing information as I hit billing update it did not confirm that the changes were made so my experience with the app has been nothing short and terrible. Get some new coders that my fingertips. The results of this app is indicative of GEICO's reputation. They are far superior than any other insurance company when it comes to customer service. I have been with GEICO for over 20 years and only once have I been disappointed by a certain customer service rep that kind of rushed me through a call though she took care of me that is the least of my complaint. Other than that they have been flawless. And I would recommend geico to anyone even if you're paying slightly less because you can't get pass the customer service and the flawless process that GEICO will give you in the event that you have an accident or need assistance.
SHOCKINGLY INCOMPETENT. I have tried for 7 months to update my address. Every single time I try to do this in the App I get “oops we’ve encountered an error”. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. FOR 7 MONTHS. I have spoken to 5 different agents over this period and the issue has STILL not been resolved. The last 3 times I have attempted to use their online chat to speak to an agent, the entire program has crashed, forcing me to start over. I have even communicated with an agent via email, who assured me that my address would be updated. Guess what? It never was. I have just finished waiting through a queue of 44 people to speak to an agent through their online chat. When it was finally my turn and an agent started speaking to me they asked for my first and last name and when I typed it into the response field guess what happened? The entire program crashed, disconnecting me. When I tried to go back again I was then back in a queue of 29 people. That is the last straw. After the IRS, I have never dealt with a more incompetent business/organization than GEICO. They cannot even handle something as simple as updating a customer’s address. I have been a customer of theirs for years, and never ever again. Good riddance to a dumpster fire of a company.
Beware! Using this app will likely lead to an increase in your insurance premium. I just finished speaking with a GEICO representative who advised me that my renewal rate was increased and included a “DriveEasy” surcharge of $128 and the loss of a $67 “DriveEasy” discount due the data collected by this app and GEICO’s DriveEasy program. Basically what this app does is spy on your driving behavior. It collects data which is used to determine your insurance premium according to GEICO’s DriveEasy frequently asked questions on their website. So if you are driving while distracted (using your phone), frequent hard braking, don’t slow down when approaching curves or making left / right turns (cornering) and frequent acceleration then GEICO will use the “DriveEasy” data collected by this spy app to increase your premium. What makes this so unfair is that only about 10% of the time I was driving the car that GEICO insures in the United States. Most of my driving was done in a foreign country in a car not insured by GEICO. Also I do use Uber a lot and the app cannot distinguish if I am the driver or passenger while it is collecting data. So it’s quite unfair that I have to pay this $128 surcharge because I was frequently using my phone while using Uber or public transportation…for the driving behavior of an Uber driver and for not being in the United States.
Geico wasn’t there when I most needed them. I’d been with Geico for over 10 years without a single incident. Then one night I was involved in a highway pile-up. I was driving a tiny car slammed into from behind by a large SUV. Previously, Geico had advised me to drop comprehensive because of my car’s age. After the accident, Geico counseled me to speak with the other insurance company and let them know whatever they wanted. My car was subsequently “totaled,” a loss of more than $10K for me. And the other company’s adjuster judged me “at fault” because I was not the first car in the pile up. So neither Geico nor the other company would offer any medical compensation. Years later, I’m obliged to work with Geico again because my current insurance rate keeps going up even though I almost never use my car, am a defensive driving course graduate, have excellent credit, and have no marks on my driving record. But to get a discount, I have to use Geico’s surveillance app. Worse, it MUST STAY ON AND I MUST STAY LOGGED IN ALL THE TIME!!!!! No thanks. My privacy is worth more to me than a few dollars off the premium. Geico has been just awful all around. #Just&FairInsuranceRevolution.
System. I’ve been with you for 4 years now and I have not had a complaint until now. It seems like every time my renewal comes around my rates keeps going up. I understand that there are a lot of accidents and claims that are being filed. My issue is that I joined your drive easy program and you changed how you rate my driving and I lost almost all of my drive easy savings except for 80 dollars and then I am forced into having to sign in to the program almost every time I log in to see my score and I keep getting messages that I need to click alway at least once every two weeks. Is there a glitch in your system that keeps me having to keep logging in to it and then there are the messages that say if I don’t want to lose my drive easy that I have to hit always. So I go into my settings and look at my app and it’s still on always. I guess that there are some issues on your part with the program system because whenever I get a message asking me if I want to keep your app running I always hit always. This is my reason for only giving it a 3 I’ll change it when it gets fixed.
Safe drive is utter garbage.. It used to be pretty accurate when it came to monitoring trips. But even now I never touch or use my phone when driving. I keep it plugged in for car play and tucked away it will constantly say I was using it. Even though GEICO admits they can’t really know when you do or don’t use your phone. I’ve even done test runs where I am super light on my brakes and at times will still call it a hard brake. For years my score was a 99 with no phone use ever and braking. They changed something that it is constantly saying there was phone use. Even though the phone is locked and sitting away secured. And even after adjusting for trips where I was the passenger the overall score drops and stays that way. I can’t tell if this change was intentional but it’s frustrating being how absolutely careful I am with driving. And the fact that I NEVER use my phone when I do drive. If GEICO can’t truly know if you’ve used your phone or not then the app has no business determining if phone use is a factor. Whatever changes they made need to be fixed because this is ridiculous. No matter how careful I am and regardless if my phone is in my pocket, or mounted away and locked the app will still try to claim at times I used it.
Very busy retired woman, with very active family of kids and grandkids.. My family has carried Geico auto insurance for over 15 years. The representatives over the phone are extremely pleasant and polite, reassuring and most helpful, clear and accurate. We’ve had it all, over the years, a few fender benders, luckily most serious was whiplash and policy paid all medical expenses for medical care. Someone did sue is for damages and after several years of refusing to accept settlement case dismissed. Geico assigned an extremely competent lawyer who kept us well informed. In the end they were not awarded anything and case was dismissed. Cost of coverage is cost competitive. They provide easy, quick access both online and over the phone and it only takes a call to make any type of changes to coverage, add or remove vehicles. The customer service and claims management never disappoints. The auto repair shops they refer to are A+. We have several vehicles including dump truck and large trailer, 3 cars, and a motorcycle. Everyone in my family from age 16-75 recommends Geico without hesitation.
Not happy customer. Prices have changed completely! I have a perfect driving record, was given a complete opposite quote if paid year in full, I mean atleast a $500 - $600 difference. I called for a quote on my other vehicle I didn’t add it however the agent added it anyway (by mistake). I didn’t find out that I owed anything more due to not paying in full by the renewal date but only didn’t pay by the renewal date because Geico is trying to figure out what they did wrong. I just so happened to go on the app & all of a sudden noticed bills being due stating if I don’t pay I’ll be canceled. I call I think they’ve got it all figured out & Geico actually owes me. So… 6-7 months down the line I get another cancellation notice saying I need to pay almost $300 or I’m going to be canceled, I call & the lady says she’ll call me back she has to get a supervisor, yet the supervisor doesn’t call me back she does & explains this situation which makes absolutely no sense!! I’m still not satisfied, still don’t feel like I owe all this money esp looking back at my bills, what I should’ve paid, what I did pay… It doesn’t add up! I sure won’t be a loyal customer anymore if they don’t figure this out. Smh Geico!
Broken Windshield. I recently tried to file a claim for a broken windshield, but to my surprise and because I had paid on my policy 6 months ahead of time, my policy had lapsed the month before I made the claim. I never got a curtesy call to renew my insurance. I tried to explain to customer service that the incident happened about a month before I made the claim which at the time my insurance was current. Customer service said I would have to pay out of pocket because when I filed and when the incident actually happened was about a month apart. It just so happen that the time that my wife tried to file the claim was when they’re saying our policy was passed due! I tried to explain to the claims agent that I had set my insurance up for 6 month payments and was unaware that it was time to pay again… I’m very disappointed in GEICO’s treatment of a customer who paid for 6 months in advance and just because of a technical error on the date of the actual incident and the time that my wife reported it and the fact that they were solely going on this and that there was nothing they could do… well I just don’t believe that… this is one of the main reasons why insurance companies get a bad wrap and hard working people like me hate you guys!!!
GEICO MILITARY IS GREAT EXCEPT . . . . . . .. My wife total a vehicle 2 years ago ( first incident EVER in 6 years ) my rates double, they worked with us, they got me a new car seat and even tried to sue for my deductible ( I declined because they are good insurance ) I’ve had issues with trying to pay in the past with the app freezing and issues with getting declaration pages. I don’t agree with rates changing with policy changes that are extremely small ( adding towing and road side ) they wanted an extra $9 a month even with me having “Triple A” GEICO all in all are fair, and are a great insurance company but for someone who has been with a carrier for over 6 years SHOULD NOT HAVE RATE INCREASES DUE TO STATE LEGISLATION OR THINGS THAT THE POLICY HOLDER CANT CONTROL. KEEP MY PAYMENTS GOING DOWN EVERY 6 MONTHS WITH NO INCIDENTS, DONT TRY AND RAISE MY RATES THE LONGER IVE BEEN EITB YOU GUYS. ESPECIALLY IF THERE ARENT ANG TICKETS OF ANY KIND AND ARENT ANY ACCIDENTS. I was hoping for a lower deductible soon ( I HAVE GAP ) and you guys only pay what market for the vehicle ( LEARNED WITH TOTALING A 2022 BMW XB7 ALPINA ) so if you guys only give market value for a total and the customer holds GAP also there shouldn’t be a big jump in premium.
Roadside is a joke. First, not sure where Geico gets their claim of 5/5 stars for roadside service because there is nowhere to leave a review. I got locked out while scraping snow (for the first time in my life). I had gloves and extra layers… also locked inside the car. I was fortunate to have a warm building to go into. If I hadn’t, I would have gotten hypothermia waiting the 60 minutes for the service they were sending. On top of that, thé phone number provided for the service went straight to voicemail so there was no way to communicate. Called Geico and had a long auto system prior to talking to an agent about the communication problem. I got lucky and someone was able to open the car. I canceled the roadside assistance that was still 30min out. Now that roadside service website asked for a survey, that didn’t have questions consistent with my issue (4 short questions) and at the end it says « we’re working on sending help » with no way to say no. If I get charged for this I’m going to be even more upset. Happy I got lucky, not remotely happy with Geico or the service Road Rangers. Why use a service that’s 60min away in cold weather!!?
Geico cares. Geico already has some of the lowest rates out there are all of the transit employees. So great of them giving customers across the board an additional discount with their Give Back program. It’s refreshing to know big business cates about its clients. I’m not one to jump around to different carriers for better rates but when my policy came up for renewal with my local agent I questioned if I was getting all discounts I was eligible for . I had been with them for close to 14 years. When I started digging into my policy I found that I was not getting any of the discounts I qualified for. Then it hit me that because I was a loyal customer I took it for granted that they had my back . Foolish! I was out all those years of discounts. In comes Geico . When I compared rates I was in disbelief. Almost half of what I was paying , close to $900 less! Still in disbelief I went over coverage and one for one all was the same. I called my agent and was told it’s a smaller company and I was getting personal attention to my policy. Needless to say I immediately switched to Geico and so glad I did!
APP for Geico Insurance. While i realize APPs are the best thing for taking care of business I find it clumsy and annoying . I liked the previous in paying my bill and going thru the app I had to fumble around to pay my bill . However I have no idea what I paid for why I have two cars I am not driving them they are sitting in the garage I own three motorcycles and I have two up and running and the other one has a flat tire but I was not allowed on your app to see that makes me wonder if I did the right thing here .... makes me want to go to another insurance company and consider looking at what am I really getting here ???? I have been w your company a long time but as technology goes sometimes things just work fine and don’t need some update if your going to do that then tell me before this is a new iitem an app for your phone and get someone on the phone and tell me how to access it ! Instead of me fumbling around and wasting time and distracting me !!!!!
Careless!!!. be careful because initially they will be soft with their rates and everything. I’m very upset with them because I was a customer with them for more then five years or so and the one month a had problem with my bank credit they report me and left me without insurance and I had no Idea! I was on autopay but someone stole my bank card, so the autopay with them didn’t go through! But the only thing they did was send me an email to notify me who the hecks checks their email constantly and also with all those spam that you get. They didn’t bother to call me to leave me a voicemail or a text or anything! People have a lot going in their life sometimes but by the time I remembered 10 days had passed, But it is incredible that they can’t forgive you and hear your situation FOR THAT ONE MONTH!!! They just went ahead and cancelled me and report! How dare they how is this caring about your customers. I mean not even one month had passed for them to do such things! It was just this One Time…I was on autopay without missing any payment! Went I told the guy who answered He didn’t care he just sounded like a machine telling me what they did and when i told him my situation and told him i want to get back on they double the price almost $300 dollars!!!
Five stars. If anybody is considering purchasing auto insurance, all I can tell you is one thing stick with the best you can’t go wrong with a insurance company that has been around for more than 75 years I have never had an issue with my insurance company which I am proud to say Geico and I say that with all sincerity Geico is a company and insurance that is there for you when you need them, I will refrain from mentioning other insurance companies but don’t bother with other insurance companies some people say that Geico is one of the most insurance companies on the market but what I say is you always get what you pay for so if you want to go with Mike and Mike insurance company before I want you never know what you’re going to get but with Geico and 75 years of experience you know what you’re going to get excellent service customer service an app that is far beyond anything that is out there. Thank you, Geico.
Stolen Money. This insurance company automatically withdrew money from my bank account and then tried to withdraw it again from my other bank within 2 days. Then they proceeded to tell me that they never received a payment. They took money from me and then told me I still owe them. Then proceeded to say they don’t know where my money went. They say they had the same issue happened to numerous other customers and they tell you that you must submit your bank statements to get credit for the money they stole from you. Then even after you submit the statements they say it’s not good enough. DO NOT USE THEIR MOBILE APP. You will LOSE MONEY and they will lie to you. Do not go through Geico! They do sketchy stuff and then when you call, they give you the run around and blame you for everything. Literally the worse insurance company. They steal your money and then tell you they don’t have it so they can make more money off of you.
Terrible insurance. They are robbing people. The customer service is very nice when you are getting an insurance and they become very mean when you want to change something on your policy. I downloaded this app and was trying to get a quote for my sister. She doesn’t drive my car and I never wanted to add her into my insurance. Well the app added her to my insurance automatically without my permission and now I have to pay for her too. Well I’m not her parent and she doesn’t drive my car. Anyways, I call Geico customer service for help and the girl on the phone literally ignores me. She HANG UP on my face. I was kindly asking why I can’t delete her and she just said “I’m hanging up”. On the geico app there is actually place to delete additional drivers. Every single page works perfectly on the app except that one. Because only that page says “ERROR”! I am a student and now they want me to pay $157 each month for insurance. I don’t even work and my mom ca5 afford it. Well I would like to cancel my insurance but I can’t. Because I paid around $400 for the first payment. TERRIBLE! I hate how they are very nice when you are getting insurance and ignore you the moment you get the insurance. DON’t get insurance from this company. NEVERRRRRRRER
HORRIBLE- GEICO!!. I’ve been with GEICO for 8 yrs. — I have a perfect driving record (NO ACCIDENTS-NO TICKETS!!) I live in a small rural community - my stores are 3 miles or less to drive to - & my car sits sometimes for a week or so not driven…BUT GEICO Auto has gone up 312% in the past three years!!!! I’m retired & get every excuse in the book -that parts for cars are now more expensive in case I have an accident!!!! … So I’m paying for ALL the drivers that are “lousy drivers auto parts”. … OR live in Florida & get away with “NO Insure!!” THERE needs to be a law that if you don’t have legit valid drivers license here in Florida- you should not be able to buy a vehicle!! & how are they getting a tag from these dealership without proof of full coverage!! ? At least six months of coverage… GEICO does not have a loyalty to their long time consumer…. !!!! If you’re looking for a company that will take and bleed you -Well look no further - GEICO will justify their theft of robbing you as a loyal customer… and someone who has 40 years of excellent driving record…. Speaks from experience…. Don’t come aboard this company… there are conglomerate thief…
Beware of quote process for minor. I have run multiple quotes for adding cars and policy coverage changes but it never gets updated on policy until it is confirmed. Good, right? That is not the case with running a quote for new driver. I was trying to check premium for my minor son if he is added as a driver. App took all the info I entered and added him to policy as a driver and effected it. I didn’t even finish the quote process till the end, and didn’t confirm him to be a driver. 2 days later I got an email to pay additional premium!! Please provide a disclaimer that running a quote for a driver could add him/her to the policy even if consent was not given. Provide a cancel button in quote process so that user has ability to exit when they want to. Also don’t add driver out of quote process and explicit confirmation. Instead of just notifying the user about policy doc is updated, state key changes in email notification - new driver added, new premium is so and so - which ensures information is accurately notified to the policyholder.
DriveEasy. I have always liked Geico, and I never write reviews, but the DriveEasy program is infuriating and Geico should know that. I am a very safe driver on a budget, and insurance rates are crazy high across the board right now, so I signed up for it assuming I would definitely save a lot. And I am saving a little, which is nice, but there is one major annoyance that has to be a scam on their part to collect more money. There are threads on several message boards about it, so I can’t be the only one who is upset by it. Geico: your safest drivers are getting docked points for having “uncontrolled turning” according to your app, and we are trying to fix the problem by driving so slowly as to be encouraging other drivers to speed around us, because even if you take every single curve and turn in a 30mph zone at 7-10 miles per hour, the app still says you are driving like a psychopath. And you are—but not because you’re cornering too fast and without control, rather because you’re trying to convince a broken bot that you’re not doing that. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk. Fix your bot and give us our discount.
Not easy to navigate. My policy was about to be canceled because the expiration date on my debit card has changed. When this happened in June I updated the account for all of my bills and online purchases. Including Geico! I had assumed my bill was being paid automatically as it had been in the past and there’s absolutely no reason it should not have been. But I received an email that I was about to be canceled so I logged onto this app.I went to pay my bill and I noticed popped up that I must change the expiration date. Easy enough right? No no no no no no no not easy at all! I repeated this psycho about seven or eight times where it allowed me to change my expiration date and then I went in and clicked pay bill and it said the expiration date has expired change your expiration date and I played goofy again and again and again!!! I went to the settings but I couldn’t find payment methods. I finally found something that gave me the option of a credit card or checking account but not the option to change the expiration date on my debit card. Finally by random and I mean random not intuitive clicking and clicking through and clicking through I came to a page that allowed me to put in a new expiration date. My bill has been paid the entire process took me about 20 minutes. I gave you another couple minutes of my Saturday to write/dictate this message in hopes that you improve your system for other customers. Thank you
App became annoying. Ok. Who is in charge of UX? Did you change companies or outsource to India, or something? First of all, why require change of password? Info is stolen not because people don’t change passwords on user end. Data is stolen because network security is outsourced to idiots. Second, when people change passwords, for the love of god, let us see what we are typing. Do you think people change passwords in crowded airport lounges surrounded by Chinese spies? Idiots. Third. I just updated my card info. Then I went to pay (yes, a few days in advance. Oh my god. DEFCON 5 alert.) so, your idiotic app asked me 3 times whether I wanted to pay or update my payment method (which I just did) and then I think I was told to jump on one leg while bowing toward Mecca seven times. Finally, when it let me pay, it tried to charge the OLD account. This app used to be good. What moron decided to break it? Fire him. Sounds like a he.
Thank You. After getting into a very serious accident, which can be so upsetting, the professionals at Geico took extra care to make sure I was ok, did I need any help, any services before even discussing my coverage and the next steps. And the concern was genuine; some times it sounds as though a company rep is reading from a script; with Geico staff, it seemed like I was talking to a concerned friend. And at a time like this, when your head is spinning and you don’t know which way is up, a kind, gentle approach like Geico’s makes all the difference in the world. Every other aspect of the process was just as professional and I can’t say enough about Chloe, John and everyone I had the pleasure of working with. But it was the human warmth and genuine kindness offered at such a frightening and upsetting time that really stands out. And please know that I am very grateful, and hope I can pass on the kindness to another who may need a helping hand. Warm regards, Joe Fitzpatrick
DriveEasy is wildly Inaccurate.. First off, the app won’t load nor stay connected. I keep getting notifications to connect my mobile account, then after connecting, I start getting those notifications again days later. I should not be blamed for not being connected if it won’t stick. Even if I did stay connected, DriveEasy is wildly inaccurate. For instance, I was using handsfree calling until the caller hung up and I did not touch my phone again until I reached my destination. DriveEasy showed that from the time they hung up, it was counted as phone handling simply because my phone was still open after the call ended. If I had to reach over to turn my screen off after the call ended, THAT would have been call handling. They should be able to distinguish whether the phone is actually being used or simply open without being touched. It also needs to be able to distinguish whether I’m in my car or public transport because I have also been dinged for bus drivers’ driving on some occasions. I have now received an email saying I have not been connected for several days, but when I tried to open the app, it will not even load (it’s been 28 minutes and it’s still on the load screen). I will likely be changing because this is too frustrating to deal with.
Drive Easy Fundamentally Flawed. While the GEICO Mobile does have some nice features including car fax for your insured vehicles among others, my biggest issue is with Drive Easy. It collects data from your phone 24/7, not just when you’re driving. It’s also disastrously inaccurate while collecting and interpreting this data. It can’t tell at all (even though it says it can) if you’re driving, a passenger, or even if you’re in a car. There’s no ‘at work’ option, so even if you’re driving a car insured by someone other than GEICO, it would still affect your score unless you change it to passenger or other. It really can’t tell if you’re on your phone or not because I always set my phone down when I’m driving in a secure location and yet I get dinged for being on it. Any U-turn (even when done legally) will most likely show up as hard-breaking on the app. Finally, even though it says I’m excellent or perfect in all of my measured indicators, I still have a “average” score. How does that make any sense? I’ll likely start paying a premium charge after my trial period, which is really annoying given GEICO can’t even tell me how to improve my driving (apparently it’s already perfect to their measures). Very frustrating.
Great company. This is the first time in 30 years I have had an insurance company that actually seems to care about me and want to take care of us and our vehicles. It is very easy to make payments to them. It is very easy to turn in a claim. Their app is user-friendly and you can do almost everything you need to do on it. My husband totaled his car a few months ago. I was astounded at how easy the process was to get it all taken care of. From the accident site we went straight to a rental car agency and they already had a rental car set up for us. Within five days they had our totaled car assessed and a day or two later automatically deposited the money into our account. No waiting for a paper check. The process was very smooth and I will definitely stay with Geico. I would also like to mention that I have had Geico for the last several years and should have put in a review sooner. In the last couple years I have talked to multiple customer service agents and have never spoken with somebody who was rude or condescending. They have always been professional and very courteous.
Good but needs work. Overall the app is good. It’s a little slow and somewhat clunky to use could definitely use some updates to the UI. My biggest gripe is with the vehicle maintenance tracking feature. It’s a great idea and I like that I can track all my maintenance in one place but it’s a pain to use. Half the time I try and access my records I’m prompted to register for a free car fax account. I then have to go back and forth until it will finally take me to “my garage”. I ended up registering for a free cardiac account thinking this would eliminate this but it lead to a bigger problem. I had been tracking oils changes etc., which I do myself, with the app which states powered by carfax and even had some records in there from previous services but, after registering a free account and adding my vehicles none of my tracked maintenance showed up on the carfax history. I double checked this on the carfax website with same result. I also had some receipts and invoices uploaded to the app and although they are there and I can view them I can’t download them to add them to the official carfax maintenance record. What’s worse is I can’t find where I can access this info on the actual GEICO website to download them.
Geico Misrepresented and now I’m out of work.. Geico misrepresented a payment on my account and my account went negative while I was experiencing financial hardship. I made sure on two different occasions that my account wouldn’t be charged, and I was told “Not to worry”. A few days later, my account was charged and my account was overdrawn. I understand my bank account is my responsibility, and I was making it my responsibility by communicating with Geico to make sure they wouldn’t charge my account. Geico now tells me that it will take several days for the $$$ to be credited to my account. I made sure to follow the steps I needed to take; Geico misrepresented themselves, and did not take consideration of my situation. This wouldn’t be such a big problem if Geico actually followed through with what they said they were going to do… I now have to call off an entire weekend of work where I can’t get paid. Why you ask? Because I can’t put gas into my car and drive to work this weekend. I work as a DoorDash driver; so I NEED gas in my car in order to work. I have zero credit and I have no friends or family that can gift me funds. I am doing the best that I can, and I’m working very hard to get out of my financial hardships. Geico has royally screwed me, as I now cannot work this weekend or put food onto my table because of their misrepresentation. I will not be renewing my policy with them.
Bad faith business. Barry Bellmore, a Geico claims adjuster out of Los Angeles has tried to pressure me into taking an ultra low value for a custom order vehicle by threatening to “have to look closer & possibly the numbers will come back lower” if I don’t accept the amount offered and I keep pushing for more. This is my own insurance company, I’m highly disappointed and would not recommend #Geico to anyone, friend or foe! They will quit paying for your rental car and then notify you a few days after the fact if you don’t take their low ball offer. The claims adjuster hasn’t even correctly entered my vehicles information for a proper comparison and so far Geico has done nothing to actually correct the errors. Turns out they use mainly rental cars to develop a cars value, strip down rental cars will never have the same value as a fully loaded car that was purchased new from a dealership! This is fraud! These guys are total crooks so be forewarned and buy your auto insurance from somewhere else!
Shady. I’m a disabled veteran on a strict budget. I use the 6 payment option for that purpose. The app said that I didn’t have a payment due in October, but since they credited me a discount due to the Corona Virus and because my policy is paid in advance I now have a double payment due in November. Again, no payment due in October, but a double payment due in November when I could have paid an October payment and stayed on my budget. When I called customer service, the rep said I could fix it if I got on autopay. I feel like the app misled me to give customer service a chance to sell me on autopay and to make me feel like my only choice was to set up autopay. Seems pretty shady creating a situation forcing me to call customer service, make me feel like I don’t understand the situation and try to sell me on autopay. Eg. “We didn’t make a sales call to you, you called us.” I don’t like giving access to my bank account to every Tom, dick and Harry. Seriously annoying.
Drive Easy Frustrations. The insurance portion of the app is fine: I have no complaints. However, in order to get the applicable discount by utilizing the Drive Easy interface, one must keep it on at all times. This feature has proven to be very frustrating, as it will randomly and indiscriminately turn on when I’m NOT driving: Pushing a grocery cart, sometimes just sitting in a chair, and then I have to go back into Drive Easy to ‘change my role,’ which is a headache. In addition, when I turn it OFF and am using as the passenger, it will turn back on without notification. I had MANY phone handling citations as the navigator on a recent trip, yet again requiring me to go back in and change my role. It has also marked my score down for “hard stops” and “quick turns,” and I have a very hard time believing the app can accurately assess either thing. I may contact my agent regarding how much of a discount I am getting by utilizing the program, because I’m just not sure it’s worth the hassle, unfortunately.
Poor customer service. I broke down on the 29th of October. I tried to request a tow through the app (since it was so quick and easy) I was issued a tow company not able to tow my Harley (came in a sling back) I was told by the tow company they didn’t have a truck to accommodate me. They advised me cancel the tow and call to request a flat bed. From that point on I was stuck in a vicious cycle of being routed back and forth between a phone line that was not answered and trying to send me a link to the app which prompted me to call, as I sat on hold physically 3 hours. Finally I called and paid for my tow out of pocket (over $400). Not only was I stuck on the side of the road but also was 6 other people dressed to go to a costume contest but was unable to attend because they sat with me on the side of the road. Maybe all GEICO customer service was out trick or treating their selves. I also reached out to support on Twitter that also got me nowhere. So I hope someone with the authorities to make some changes inside your company gets to read this review. Most insurance companies would have at least reached out and did a customer satisfaction check or something. I have yet to hear from this SO EASY TO SAVE 15% company. I must be paying for it by loosing customer service.
Unexplained charges. I recently moved at the end of May. Being a good customer and US citizen, I shopped around and found a lower rate with some companies but decided that Geico has been relatively good to me and would be a loyal customer. I updated my address and state insurance with an insurance rep, and my six-month rate went up, which was expected and acceptable. The first payment was 61 dollars more than the monthly charge, according to the rep and simple division (6 months total /6 ). When I asked, the gentleman said that it was a system error and it would fall off. Ok Cool. What wasn't acceptable is I logged in tonight to go over my coverage, and the good old Geico app made me aware that my account was pending cancelation due to $61 not being paid. I went ahead and paid for it. The issue is a reoccurring problem; the reps tell you one thing when it's completely different. I have had a representative on multiple occasions tell me one thing, and something turns out completely different. I am in a position where I can pay a little extra here and there to avoid hours spent on the phone, but if you are a person on a strict budget where every penny counts, I would recommend you either go with someone else or you keep a daily watch on your account
Disappointment comes in all shapes and sizes. I’ve been with Geico for 27 years and I have loved the 27 years up until last year and we had a disagreement and I still feel that they didn’t take responsibility for what they had done. I’m not going to bed now. I can’t I can give you fax, but what I can say is it’s the only time that they have screwed up and really screwed up bad in 27 years. They have been good, they are very competitive but they long story short they cut off my auto payment and didn’t ask me tell me anything and then decided to bill me for that time. And did I didn’t I’m in collections for $110 after 27 years, but they are at fault for not telling me what they were doing. I thought I had no knowledge that it hadn’t been paid until I received the collectionbill I had no reason to believe that anything because I don’t know it had them for years so what I’m trying to say is had one bad 27 years competitive
1st time insured - SO grateful to Geico 🙏🙌. So as a NH resident who never had the opportunity to do Drivers Ed since my parents didn’t have the money - I’m now almost 29, with a crazy amount of demerit points against my driving record; I was feeling SO beyond helpless… So I was getting first time quotes from all the different top, middle of the road, and less known insurance companies… JUST a touch under $1,300 was the lowest premium I could find - Then Geico quoted me at $565 (1st month is including the one time $25 charge for the NH registered SR22, so naturally $540 for the remaining 5 months, at which point it’ll go down further as the later violations “age off” my driving history) which is saving me a MINIMUM of $735, when compared to the next “lowest quote”. This entire process since the DMV ordered it - has been an absolute NIGHTMARE, with a “clerical error” leading to a false suspension and ARREST as a result of; Geico made the worst month of my life just THAT much easier and I’ll never forget the care, compassion and humanity they handled everything with
No help with accident. I was rear ended by another driver who also has geico. Police officers arrived and informed me I can file on as I was on my was to work , but was given the wrong information because no police report number is provided when you self report in the state of Florida.I have provided photos of the scene of the accident the other drivers license, registration, geico insurance card a print out of the transcript of the 911 called place. The other driver so called contacted a lawyer no the driver and the lawyer will not respond nor contact geico. Geico states they can’t contact them and with out talking to the other driver now there is nothing they can do for me . You cannot contact the person you insurance, I bet if he stopped paying you would continue to reach out to him. Now I have a damaged vehicle with out even an update from geico . I’ve called over and over and over for over a month waiting for a representative for over an hour each time on the phone . Wasting my time and still nothing no updates geico has given up at this point . I have been a customer for many years on and off with no accidents till I move to Florida the wild Wild West of drivers. I mean come on he hit me at a red light the proof is in the pudding. Very disappointed and dissatisfied.
Vandalism? Service Guys say”yes.” Insurance?. We’ll see just how “customer-centric” they really are. I’ve had Geico for a long time. Never needed them for anything egregious. Car has been vandalized for about 8 months. Inconvenient seeing cabin strewn with worthless paper and glove compartment contents scattered about the cabin in the morning. Now the engine exploded after being driven from my home for one block. In previous two weeks had little cosmetic things done with the service supervisors saying car is immaculate and car, 2013 CR-V, is in great shape. Of course the “adjuster,” suddenly can’t adjust to the event being continued “over the top” vandalism. Why? Ah-Ha, Cost will be new engine. But with a series of small, acceptable vandalism events, this engine (when torn apart to discern why it finally blew up after being driven one block, Geico adjuster suddenly can’t accept continued vandalism. That would make Geico responsible for the engine replacement. Isn’t that the reason for paying insurance premiums for years? For the “biggie?” Hang on. I’ll let everybody know. Geico may not.

Bad. I locked my keys in the car and was waiting outside my gym at night (which needs something on my keychain to enter so I was locked out). I forgot my password and tried to reset it but for that I needed my policy number which I don’t know. Luckily it was saved offline so all I had to do was memorize the 8 or so digit number and put it into a thing to reset the password. So I did that and when I tried to put in my newly reset password it said it couldn’t access my account at that time. Uh okay. While all this was going on I was trying to get roadside assistance on the phone through the number they said to call. 30 minutes of waiting and I was not able to speak to anyone!!! I’m sure the app would be useful if it actually worked for me. Overall terrible experience and I’m upset about their customer support. Luckily I was not kidnapped or something worse while locked out waiting to talk to someone to help me.
Slowest app I’ve ever used and not helpful. I’ve now had the GEICO app for 3 months and there are quite a few issues with it. First the app loads incredibly slow. And I know it’s only the app itself. I’ve been on different WiFi and the same results. Also all my other apps open and run just fine. It’s literally just this app. Expect to take at least 20 minutes just to complete a simple task due to long loading times. Also the Drive easy mode is not that great and you get penalized for using the gps apps on your phone. I have an older car so I don’t have a built in gps in my car. I have to use my phone as a gps. And I feel it’s completely unfair that I have to get penalized as a “distraction” for wanting to know where I’m going. I never use my phone for anything else other than that. I don’t text and drive nor do I even look at my phone so it’s very upsetting getting penalized for something I don’t do. Also the way you guys trap us into using the Drive Easy tracker with the threat of higher rates is completely unacceptable. You will be losing a customer soon if you don’t get it together
Unexplained Jump In Rate. I'm a 52 year old educated woman who has been driving for 35 years WITH ZERO tickets or accidents or claims...homeowner since 29 years old, steadily employed full time, divorced, solely raised and put two daughters through college (Clemson, UMD)... been with GEICO for 15 years! Yet, my auto insurance for a 2015 Camaro LT was $126/mo. but jumped to $199/mo. without explanation! Again... no accidents, tickets, or claims... EVER!! Having raised two girls by myself, I have struggled financially at times, but my driving record has never reflected anything but a safe and defensive driver! Why am I paying such an outrageous amount for auto insurance? Although financial issues have forced me to be reinstated a few times over the years, I have never had an unpaid balance with Geico. I'm currently seeking coverage from another carriers. If my insurance does not decrease, I will be forced to permanently change carriers. My financial situation has recently improved. I refuse to pay unwarranted amounts of money for auto insurance when I have never asked for it in return! Regards.
*DriveEasy WARNING!*. There is a HUGE problem w/ the DriveEasy App and the “smoothness” rating. A person cannot change the condition of the streets where they live. Personally, I feel this is derogatory. Drivers are being counted against for the smoothness of the surfaces they drive upon! I live in rural Kentucky. We still have many surfaces that are graveled, rather than paved. This means that anytime I drive on a surface that isn’t smooth, I will be scored for that. If you live or visit somewhere that doesn’t have amazing streets, you may have an excellent driving score, like I do, but receive a grade of “Subpar” or worse for you “smoothness” rating, because of the streets/roads/interstates/parking lots you drive upon and can’t avoid. I have spoken to a Geico representative regarding this concern. I was told there is nothing they can do about it, and I have two options: unenroll and lose my discount or stay enrolled and risk being surcharged for my discount, due to the smoothness rating of my roads! That is not an acceptable answer or solution! Correct me, if I’m wrong, but isn’t that being biased toward customers who don’t live in wealthy areas with perfect driving surfaces?
Great prices, not great responsibility. I’ve had GEICO in the past, and I’m back with them now. Don’t get me wrong, the whole 15 minutes or more really does save you money on your insurance, BUT what I’m having the most trouble with is not having a standalone representative that deals with my insurance. That’s one thing I despise about GEICO. From the first day of my policy, I had to go through three or four different representatives to instate the policy for both renters and auto. The auto insurance was the worst to deal with because I was trying to get a date of insurance that worked from the transition of my wife’s old policy and mine, to one that worked at that time for us. Unbeknownst to my wife and I, months later, we would get a letter in the mail stating a lapse in insurance…. I called at least three times about my wife’s car, and about the same for mine. Well the birthday came up and it STILL wasn’t fixed, so essentially my registration is suspended because they couldn’t do it right the first time when I called about the insurance lapse. NOW a I have to pay extra on my tag because of that… THANKS geico.
Statement about GEICO’s service and my need to change payment date. First, thank you for your change of date opportunity. Secondly, Overall, GEICO has been very helpful to me. However, I experienced a theft of my car and received poor service from one of GEICO’s claims adjuster. Also, I did not receive the total amount due to me for a rental car. I had to rent for two months, while seeking assistance in repairing the minor damage to my car (per the police report and visible observation). I need to change my payment to ensure that I will have funds in my account. I’m still struggling with my car. The thieves affected my car’s fueling sending system, fuel pump, water control valve, thermostat, and other things. I was told that they were planning to take my Corvette 5.7 engine. My trust level has been altered by mechanics and the GEICO claims adjuster. Thanks for permitting me provide comments.
Peace of Mind. My gratitude and love for Geico Insurance has genuinely grown over the years! There truly is SO much to love while appreciate about this company. For starters, their hospitality anytime I’ve had to call in has been consistently friendly while helpful. However, they’ve made their app incredibly user friendly while immensely resourceful to make everyday needs, or sudden unexpected one’s such as, requesting certain documents available right at your fingertips, so calling, which we do not always have the bandwidth for; is not always necessary! At least you know when you do, it won’t be a dreadful experience! Everything has felt non pressuring, including no usual influx of marketing harassment’s and such compared to other companies. Thank you for making life less stressful. I do hope to continue having a policy with y’all contingent on reasonable rates/ coverages.
Best of the Best. GEICO has provided me and my family the best savings thus far….There are many different ways to get discounts. All you need to do is ask how you can save money and an agent will explain the best options that you qualify for. GEICO also has one if not the best App you can use. To help you with your policy. Whether you need a quote, or road service. All you need to do is use the App versus calling for an Agent. It’s fast and it’s user friendly. All at your fingertips…it’s that easy. If you don’t find what your looking for. A phone call is just as easy. A professional and friendly GEICO representative will assist you and answer your questions. I’ve had GEICO now for approximately 5 years maybe longer. I’ve had nothing but positive experience with GEICO. To end this, I have two final words….”USE GEICO “…”Merry Christmas” and a “Happy New Year” everyone!!
The driver programs really works but needs some improvements. I’ve been using GEICO since 2023 and it has been the most affordable company I found in the market for the value. They kept respecting my premiums as long as I keep my driver app active and sync. My only issue is when I’m traveling on a plane or I’m a passenger in a vehicle. The app doesn’t give you a quick visual option to switch rolls, and things like that have been making my score when down drastically because when I’m not on the wheel, I may use my phone for different reasons. I know the change rolls on the app exist but honestly, when I go there and make the changes on my trips, I don’t see any change on my driving scores so I feel that even doing that, It doesn’t really work. Another thing is when I’m out of the country, why the app still records my trips, is not suppose to be just for the USA?
App and customer support outstanding. The app is great and super easy to use have not had any problems once so ever and when I did have a problem the GEICO team members were absolutely great and very very helpful. Just wanted to tell about my experience over the phone one time, they were very nice and very helpful and worked with me on what I needed. I called about postponing my payment because I wouldn’t have enough money until my next paycheck and they came up with a way to help me out even when it seemed hopeless they made sure I didn’t lose my insurance for being too far past due. There’s a bunch more but I just wanted to say GEICO has given me a great experience and I recommend GEICO for anybody else. Top notch service and very friendly and helpful skilled staff. Amazing work guys, really. Keep up the great work best experience I’ve had with customer service and wonderful app!
Supervisor. I could work at Geico and teach a few things about organizational skills for employees at Geico. All employees should have organizational skills. Recommend special monthly or weekly classes for employees not to be in such a hurry answering customers questions as if they knew the answer to get off the phone to handle the next call. I had 6 weeks of training before I even answered the phone not to mention training I got before I decided I wanted to become a customer service rep. I answered phones when reps needed a meeting and put customer on hold until I got the right answer. I was very good at my job and actually wrote a job description for Colonial Penn. Due to my organizational skills I combined 3 jobs into one and increased my salary. Find people who just don’t go to work for the money but care enough about their job to make your company better and better. Sincerely, Cynthia M Elkins
Very good. I can only compare it too Progressive n State Farm. I really never had issues with Progressive, they added me with no issues when everybody else did when I 1st started driving. State farm on the other hand, OMG, terrible. Mainly the office location I was with in the Bronx, NY. Plus these guys had me paying way too much for liability. I am paying less than that with Geico and with full coverage. This is why I like Geico, they have their app you can reach them pretty quick too and by phone the wait isn’t that bad. Idk how it would be if they had locations around like StateFarm. Thank god they don’t. Even in my accident, I was in recently they pretty much handled everything in a timely manner. Only issue I had was I wish there was a way to investigate accidents. It’s a shame I was at fault. I mean I know the guy with front end damage gets the blame, but the guy cut me and slammed on his brakes. I will be looking into a dash cam for sure.
WHAT?. I’m amazed at the negative reviews. I’ve had Geico auto for 7 years and renter’s insurance for 1 1/2 years. I keep getting info from other companies about how they can offer the same coverage for less than I’m paying now. Like most people, I’m always looking for a way to save money, so I’ve responded to roughly 4 offers. None were even close to Geico! Several agents actually told me to stick with my current insurer. Some were over twice as much. I was just notified that I am now getting accident forgiveness for my first at-fault accident-at no increase in payment. I enrolled in automatic payments and Geico always shoots me an email to remind me about it, 2 weeks ahead of the withdrawal. I don’t understand what the poor comments are for as every interaction I’ve had with Geico has been positive and helpful. My questions have been answered fully and I’ve never had a single problem with Geico!
I LOVE GEICO!!!!. I have had Progressive, Allstate and other insurance companies. NONE OF THEM COMPARE TO GEICO!!!! I even left and had to come back because the other companies just did not mount up to my expectations (although Progressive came close, they weren’t close enough for me to stick around). Price, plus the perks that come along with this company by far is unmatched. I would STRONGLY suggest them. I got my son to get them with his brand new vehicle and finally convinced my mother to switch from Statefarm (her rate went down with GEICO). The app is very easy to use. Everything I need, I can do it from the app. Update information, request roadside assistance, get virtual support, amongst so many more things. I only have to call them when I have to, which isn’t often and when I do, each and every representative I have spoken with has been top notch. A definite model for other companies to glean from. Thank you GEICO and team!!! You ROCK!!!! Signed a very happy customer 😁
GEICO is the best. I’ve been with GEICO for almost a year now. I had switched over from progressive because every time it came time to renew my policy they would increase the cost of my policy. Finally I had enough so I shopped around and I ended up choosing GEICO and I have to admit, it was probably the best decision I could have made when it comes to purchasing an insurance policy. They have been so helpful and to my surprise they have been more understanding than I’d ever imagine. I would highly recommend anyone to switch to GEICO for thier auto policy I promise you will not regret your decision. They have probably the best customer service I’ve ever dealt with. Not only in terms of an insurance policy but all around in general. I plan on doing business with GEICO for as long as I need an insurance policy. Looking forward to buy my first house so they can insure that as well. Thanks GEICO and please keep up the good work
App Support. I have been using this app for many years now and one of my favorite features was the “Find gas” feature. I am beyond furious that you took this away. I could actually be sitting at a traffic light, open the app and quickly tap on this feature on the app to find gas quickly around me, pull over and get it. Now you took this feature away. I opened the app in the App Store and there is a highlighted blue area to tap on to ask the developer a question, but it just navigates back to the original app page. I want this feature back on my app. I need this to help me. Gas prices are so high and I have to have this help to quickly find affordable gas quickly. Why would you do something like this in these difficult times. I am so angry about this. No one asked me if I wanted to keep this feature or if I mind it being removed. 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡
Criminal Enterprise. GEICO ritually takes advantage of its customers. I should know, I have been one for over 15 years. One of the most irritating things they do is discuss policies in the phone with you, then tell you that they will call you back within 24 hours, then don't. If you contact them, they not will have a record of your prior call, no matter how extensive and time consuming it was. There will be no notes form the previous representative and you will likely have been expunged from autopay without permission simply because you waited for THEIR clarifying call (for information) before you paid. There will be no notice. There will be consideration when you realized that the bill you had paid religiously for well over a decade via autopay was not paid and now you owe twice the original bill (25% of the entire premium up front) when you anticipated the usual amount. You can expect that rates will be misquoted and that simple addition and multiplication is too taxing and-or difficult for your representative to apply. In short, GEICO is just another giant insurance company, ritually screwing the consumer, but with cuter adds than your standard clip-joint.
Worst insurance company ever. Completely misinformed me of information and refused to correct it. Didn’t want to extend my policy because I got a new job and my pay dates changed and I couldn’t pay the current month literally six days difference. I was told that I could just pay to restart the policy, but they didn’t tell me that I had to pay the current month and more for a whole other month. Now I have no insurance and they don’t want to do anything to even help me. This insurance company is ridiculous. Do not get this insurance company because they have no problem with your policy canceling and somebody driving without insurance. Worse insurance company I have had since USAA. Oh and also beware if they cancel your insurance when you try to renew they will say that you can’t pay monthly and will have to pay your full premium up from. Never met an insurance company that makes it so hard to get your insurance back.
Review. I have been with Geico for many years. While for the most part they have been good I must say that in the past 3+ years they have not been the same! I don’t know if they have just been hiring the “new entitled generation” with no work ethics or what has changed. I will say that the accident that I had in a parking lot at a 7-11 was or should have been each of us taking care of our own vehicles and based on the conditions and what was said at the time clearly pointed that out. But rather than Geico actually investigating it, they accepted the other persons complete change of story and never looked into it. This never would have happened 3-4 years ago. So I am paying higher rates and no longer have faith in Geico. This could be the case with all insurance companies now. But it is sad that this is now what we are expected to live with!
App and service was a near total fail last night when stranded. My title said it all. This 75 yr old woman was stranded with a dead battery waiting for service for 2 long hours last night near midnight in front of a fabric store in a large totally closed Roseville, CA shopping center. My phone had 9% battery and diminishing while the GEICO App uselessly had me scrolling screens clicking “choices.” Abandoning the app I called the old way despite the website continually telling me to use the mobile app. Geico Service apparently called someone in South Sacramento to come help me. It is a long way from So Sacramento to Roseville! The Service “Bayer Road Service” was pitiful. My service eta was 45minutes. At 55 minutes I called Bayer. I honestly think I woke up his wife when I used my dying phone to call asking where they were. This in no way sounded like a professional service. No kidding. The “service man” didn’t meet any of the 3 ETAs last night. I suspect he went back to sleep after GEICO called him out. The guy arrived 2 hours late in a little Honda with simple jump start cables - NOT even in a truck. Thus he was no help to check my battery for a dead cell as I’d hoped. He never said a word to me!! Not even to apologize. He approached, Inreleased the hood latch, he lifted my hood, I turned the key and he quickly took off then parked a 1/4 block away waiting for me to leave the parking lot safely. In summary, I felt like a target out there at midnight last night in front of Jo Ann’s fabric store. This GEICO App was no help, the actual service GEICO called was terrifyingly slow and terrifically lame. I will seriously rethink GEICO as my auto insurer. The app and the insurer’s service let me down big time when I badly needed both last night.
Cancel if coverage. I had called geico to cancel my auto coverage over a month ago. The geico rep said okay and that was that, they said my account was cancelled, I had told them I sold both my cars to a used car dealership. Today I got in the mail a bill from geico and I was shocked. I had been ill and in the hospital, disabled now and cannot drive, I had told the geico rep that when called to cancel auto coverage. So I got my mail late and saw a bill and used the chat feature on my geico app I had not removed yet thank god and the geico rep I got said my cars coverage could not be cancelled until plates were in MA., I was horrified my cars were being used for over a month under my registration and geico insurence coverage after they were both sold. The geico rep tonight took me thru the rmv ma rules and helped me cancel my plates I am so grateful for her help tonight I dont know why the initial geico rep did not tell me to cancel my plates before I could cancel my auto coverage, but tonight after getting a bill from geico the rep that helped me went thru everything and I am very grateful for her help I have been ill and having a hard time getting a bill from geico and finding out my coverage had not been cancelled for over a month was very upsetting, I paid for over a month for someone using my registration and auto coverage.....So kudos to your geico rep on chat tonight that helped a disabled senior it is very appreciated !! The initial geico rep not good fyi and did not instruct me correctly and I lost $$$ I m on a fixed income if that initial rep had told me hey u have to cancel your plates first I would have saved more of my money....So just want you to know the rep tonight saved tue day for me although I wish geico had had my back and emailed or called me after I called to cancel auto coverage and help me with steps I had to do I did not know of that is the frustrating part geico should have helped me initially not over a month later a getting a bill from geico that spurred me to use chat....Melissa Christie
Drive Easy… FIX IT. Drive Easy is CONSTANTLY sending me notifications to make sure my settings are updated & on so I can still get the Drive Easy discount…. My settings have never changed & I feel like I should constantly send Geico a notification to fix Drive Easy. This happens about 10x a day & by reading these comments, I’m not the only one this is happening to!It doesn’t even log half of what I drive because it’s ALWAYS logging me out & when it does log trips, it says i handled my phone when my phone was laying in the other seat. It logged me walking around a store the other day & it wasn’t even connected to my car???? I feel like it’s Geico trying to sabotage our driving experience to get more money. Customer Service is of no help on this whatsoever & the companies communication is HORRIBLE. This app needs to be fixed. It keeps getting updated but it’s not updating what actually NEEDS to be updated…. Drive Easy. PLEASE FIX IT!
My monthly rate has doubled for no reason!. My husband passed away in 2019 and we had just purchased a 2019 Buick Encore Touring. I talked to several people on different dates about why my cost of my monthly insurance had doubled when there was no accidents or tickets . I haven’t received a ticket in years. I drive to work 2 blocks one way and my vehicle has depreciated; yet I am paying double the amount per month? I have never even had to use my insurance to file a claim. I can barely afford to eat; let alone pay double for my vehicle insurance. I got no life insurance when my husband died and have been riddled with debt and inflated prices on everything. I don’t think it’s fair that I am paying the price for others filing claims through Geico and getting paid by the insurance company. It’s like I have to pa for something that may happen but hasn’t happened and I am worse off than ever before. It’s so unfair. I believe that I should get a discount for keeping my miles low on my vehicle; safe driving and no other issues. Geico has done nothing to keep m as a customer due to my loyalty paying such high payments for a long period of time with no relief. I had to make my payment late on several occasions but no one cared. Greed is not helping America and gouging loyal responsible customers is not a way to keep your customers. For every dissatisfied customer; they will at least tell 10 other people their experience with that company and I work in a place where there are hundreds of workers. I am a very good driver! And…. I am offended at the way I have been treated financially by Geico at no fault of my own!
STAY AWAY !!!!. Complete rip off , I’m very disappointed . I’ve been with GEICO for several years , never had a speeding ticket or violation . Was in 1 accident where the other party was found to be 100% at fault ( I’m an extremely safe driver ) . My car got vandalised a month or so ago . After having to wait for 2 weeks for them to investigate my claim and give me the ok to proceed , they gave an extremely low estimate that they are not willing to even negotiate , even though I got them 2 written estimates from body shops about how much it will cost . When I asked to speak to a supervisor , he was extremely unprofessional and wouldn’t let me even finish my sentence before cutting me off . He then started accusing me of “ wanting more money to keep for myself “ . I just want what’s fair , I’m not asking for anything extra for “myself” . I’m asking for what’s rightfully mine . They are great until you have a claim . Then they will try to get away from paying , and they will try to rip you off . Not gonna let this go , once I finalise this claim I will be switching to another company for sure . Total rip off .
11 years of awesomeness. This review is for more than just this app, but for Geico's commitment of making my insurance experience one of the best for so long. I've been with Geico for quite some time and I haven't had any negative encounters since I started as a new customer. A lot of my family and friends ask me why wouldn't I choose USAA since I am in the military, I told them well, Geico has never given me a reason to. Whenever I needed help (roadside assistance, claims, quotes..), every Geico rep was very professional, courteous, and showed great customer service. This app only contributes to that great Geico experience. Real easy to use and super convenient. I never had to call a rep to explain charges or had any technical difficulties paying my bill through the app. Keep up the great work Geico, your dedication to your customers are what keeps us Geiconians (I just made that word up lol) for life.
Drive Easy. I’m driving like a grandpa and I’m still getting dinged on hard stops… not true. I’m getting dinged on accelerating too quickly… when you’re entering a road from 25MPH to 50MPH, you need to accelerate to avoid collisions. In addition, U’m getting dinged on cornering. What’s up with that? Again Utah has roads that go from 25 MPH, 35 MPH onto an active 50MPH road. If you don’t accelerate, cars come up and ride your bumper… even if you were extremely safe. Many times the other driver is going 70 MPH in a 45 MPH to 50 MPH zone and I’m trying to be safe… but I’m being hit with cornering too quickly, or accelerating too quickly. GEICO needs to adjust the settings of Drive Easy… better yet, it would be nice if GEICO released a navigation guide where we could see posted speed limits on the GEICO Map, and receive detailed pointers on how to improve driving habits. Right now the too is way too sensitive. I’m driving the speed limits with Cruise Control and I’m still getting dinged. HELP!!!
Here’s a glowing review for Tim!!!. I had the extraordinary pleasure of working with Tim from GEICO for my car insurance needs, and I can’t say enough about the phenomenal service I received. From start to finish, Tim exemplified professionalism, expertise, and genuine care. Tim took the time to thoroughly understand my unique situation and offered tailored recommendations that perfectly suited my needs. His extensive knowledge of GEICO’s policies and benefits was evident, and he explained everything in a clear, concise manner that made the decision-making process seamless. What truly set Tim apart was his exceptional customer service. He was patient, attentive, and responsive, promptly answering all my questions and addressing any concerns I had. His warm and friendly demeanor made me feel valued and confident in my choices. Thanks to Tim’s dedication and hard work, I secured a fantastic car insurance policy that offers comprehensive coverage at a competitive rate. He went above and beyond to ensure I was satisfied with every aspect of the plan. If you’re looking for a car insurance representative who will provide top-notch service and genuinely cares about your best interests, I highly recommend Tim from GEICO. He is an outstanding professional who sets the bar high for customer service excellence. Thank you, Tim, for making this experience so positive and stress-free!
Failure of an app. As an app, this is terrible. The main use is DriveEasy to track your driving, but it isn’t good at doing that. It constantly counts trips where I was the passenger or on other modes of transportation like the subway, and then I get dinged for being on my phone for these trips. This wouldn’t be so bad if logging in and adjusting the trip weren’t such a pain. The app constantly requires 2FA, but then asks if you want to turn on face recognition to log in. No matter how many times you push yes, it will not turn on, will still require 2FA, and will still ask if you’d like to turn it on. DriveEasy also overly emphasizes negative factors like poor roads. After driving in Puerto Rico for only one week on really rough roads, my score dropped from ~110 to ~75, solely because the bumpiness. I wouldn’t care so much, but in the end it does affect the discount we are given. I know that these driving-tracking apps can be better. Progressive’s is actually quite good, even being able to tell if you’re driving or a passenger. I just wish GEICO would figure it out because the app is trash as is.
Given wrong information. Disgusting experience. Customer service informed me that Mohan singh who is the secondary holder can do the safety defense course of an additional discount. He wasted two days of his time to do the course cause he was given the wrong information I have been on the ohone with customer service Jessica, Dian and the supervisor Pearson who told me there’s nothing anyone can do. Yesterday Jessica was suppose to give me back a call and stated one of her supervisor will review the call to see who give me that information till now no one call me back. I have been calling and calling since over a week now and still can’t get anything done about this issue and still have to pay the full balance when I was given the wrong information and no compensation. With this experience I have I would never ever recommend anyone to Geico. NEVER
Geico App. This app would be great but it is not user friendly when needing to speak with someone or explaining why you billing changes monthly. I am baffled as to why I was quoted one price and now paying close to double, we had issues downloading the app to track my husbands driving and when I was able to download it told me it didn't recognize the number. This was after speaking with a service rep on the phone for hours to get this cleared up. Now you are charging be $2000 every six months for insurance where I have issues speaking with someone. WOW is all I can say after being in the insurance industry myself for well over 20 years. I don't get a warm and fuzzy from your company at all. $4000 a year with a clean driving record really! Now I realize why I never would recommend you guys. I will call tomorrow once you are open and discuss my issues. Don't think you want my business or want to just rip people off. Not sure which one it is.
Geico Coverage. I have maintained insurance (full coverage) on my vehicles for many years. Recently my vehicle was vandalized. Passenger side window busted out, windshield punched or hit, passenger side rear kicked or backed into. This happened in a public place and several other vehicles were vandalized, as well. Police came out and made a report. All steps were properly followed. Geico did NOTHING for me. I had to pay for a new passenger window 251$. New windshield 223$. Repair the dent 312$ and amongst all the struggle, a foot of snow came. I had to have a rental car while my vehicle was being fixed. Geico refused to extend my rental for the duration. I had rented a Kia Soul. I reached out and informed them the car was stuck and I was unable to move it. I could not even get my own vehicle. I had to pay out of pocket for the rental for each additional day. With having comprehensive, collision, etc. nobody should ever have to pay over a thousand dollars. What’s the point of paying for full coverage if it isn’t provided? The adjuster treated me very poorly. The entire situation was traumatic. I will be finding insurance elsewhere. I would advise any policy holder to do the same.
Seemed a little harsh. Lost a card and didn’t realize it was set for that one on my debit card account but multiple inquiries today from your company sent almost borderline harassment and threatening that my coverage will be canceled within a few days if I didn’t correct. It’s 2023 and everyone’s hurting. I got your guys blood money from my car that I bet if I totally it tomorrow, you probably wouldn’t even really pay me out. Even with my good driving record and the car being a nice car that’s going to increase in value. Personally, it just felt very extortionists especially with this morning getting multiple notifications earlier in the day an rapid concession. I dealt with a loan shark that was more understanding than that. Let alone I just had to log out of card. I lost. Dislike reading that if I couple days, you guys would drop me even know you always get my money on time normally. And field there should be a gratr buffer. For people that might be in need or in a bad situation. Not even an option offered that you just roll me over in the next month. Let me pay double.? Seems a little outrageous.
I don't drive so often.... I barely even drive my car. Maybe once a month. Geico struck gold with me as a customer, I'll never crash. Every day geico sends me an email, "we haven't communicated with your device in a few days" I haven't even gone for a car ride in over a week. Mine or anyone else's... and then when I do go on a car ride with someone else and use my phone in the passenger seat I need to either go airplane mode or go into the app after and tell it that the horrible 'phone usage' exceptional trip was me not actually driving and using my phone but me as a passenger, which it lets you do just fine after it confronts you about it lol. The app works, but it also needs to leave me alone. Every time I check my email the newest one is from geico crying that my app is not working. (It's clearly working all the time! Sending location data!) I'm clearly just not needing to drive so much right now, maybe less so than what's on my policy. Please go away... please?
Love Geico. I have been with Geico for years. Whenever I have had a claim, they have wood above and beyond to help me out at one time my car got hit while parked on the side of the road. I was wondering how I would even come up the money for my deductible when the Garage called me and told me my battery was bad and it cost $300 for a new one. when it came time to get my car I went to go pick it up and the battery was not added to my price. So I mentioned something to the guy at the counter and he said Geico went ahead and paid for that. That is not the only great claim service that I have had with them. I just had an incident with someone who had a State Farm insurance and hit me. Can you believe they wanted to fix my car with used parts? There was no way I could even get out of that so I surely would not want to be insured by a company like that.
Drive easy seems like a scam. Drive easy is too sensitive. Despite driving extremely carefully it still considers everything as hard braking. Also you are penalized when other people cut you off on the highway and you react by breaking, the alternative would be crashing into the offending vehicle. That is not fair. Also it considers talking on speaker phone as hand held calling even though the call is initiated before the trip has started. Even though the phone is not touched or looked at while driving but it still counts it as hand held calling (the phone is locked and on speaker phone) . In addition if you pull over for a brief moment on the side of the road or in a parking lot to take a call and you resume your drive after your call is finished drive easy will still consider it as hand held calling even though you pulled over to take the call. That is unfair as well. Basically it considers people who talk on the phone while driving and people who pulled over to take the call as equally bad. Isn’t the purpose of drive easy program to encourage safe driving. If you treat both careful drivers and careless drivers as the same then the incentive for good behavior is gone.
Bad Insurance Company. All insurance companies are technically a scam but by far geico is the worse of them all. My car got flooded in Texas and they were unable to help me at all. They sent an inspector (Justin Woodland) to “inspect” my car and took only 5 photos(mainly of the exterior) and only stayed for 15 minutes. He also scared me off into getting my car fixed and detailed by saying I have a really high deductible which is unusual because I remembered it being $1k only but apparently I had 2500 in deductible. I finally got my car fixed and turns out my car incurred more damage and I called geico to get reimbursed for the amount I paid out of pocket only to be told that the repairs does not match up to water damage. I talked to the supervisor (Kory Baker) about how his associate handled the situation and only to be told that Justin handled the situation well and that he’s very good at what he does. Scamming people I would not recommend being insured by them. I paid about $150 per month with only limited accessible services. No rental, no roadside, and no coverage for natural disaster apparently! Beware!
